Who’s ‘Dr No’ on Energy? Obama Points a Finger back at McCain

ABC News’ Andy Fies and Sunlen Miller Report: Sen. Barack Obama debuted a new line before a crowd of 18,000 in Dublin, Ohio, borrowing a phrase from his opponent John McCain’s own campaign criticisms of his energy proposals.

"John McCain says the problem is Washington hasn’t done anything in 30 years, what he doesn’t say is he’s been there 26," Obama said today. "And he said no to higher fuel efficiency standards on cars. He said no to making sure that we are investing in renewable fuels. He has been Dr. No when it comes to energy."

Yes, you’ve heard that nickname before: "Dr No" is one that the McCain campaign originally coined for Obama, on exactly the same issue, energy policy.

The reference of course is to the James Bond film where the bad guy is named, "Dr No."

Dems are mad because McCain took their “change” and “hope” and delivered it with reform minded Governor Sarah Pailn.
Gov. Sarah Palin is being called the Joan Of Arc of in this blog called “we love Gov. Sarah Barracuda Palin”

The Democrats have been the one who oppose natural resource development including oil, gas, coal. They are concerned about the environment and for years think that should take priority over jobs and energy. Now we are in big trouble and they have to blame the Bush Administration for their own failures and lack of foresight. Repubs said drill, drill, drill, we need and want jobs. It was the Democrats who put up road blocks whenever they could.

Hey Obama your running mate has been in the senate for 36 years!!What has he done in the energy business, sitting on his hands??? What’s your point!! Oh, wait you have none.

Obama just blunders through. McCain takes action. I’ll be “present” when I cast my vote in November. Tata Obama.

We need an experienced person as a Vice-President and a person with hope for President just like in Russia, China, Cuba etc.,
The republicans have an experienced candidate at the top of the ticket and a person without hope as Vice presidential nominee. It si illegal.

The democrats have every excuse not to drill. It is obvious that they are pandering to the environmental extremists.
They love the wild life so much that that they don’t mind killing babies before and after birth.
I get it. Babies don’t have a voting right.

Energy is just one small difference. The real differences include the following:
Obama and Rev Wright defiled America while John McCain served his country!
Obama and Rezko were sleazin’ in the gutter while McCain was being honest!
Obama and Ayers were trying to destroy our nation while McCain defended it!
Obama was using drugs and having a homosexual relationship while McCain was a POW!
Obama’s wife isn’t proud of America while McCain’s wife is a patriotic American! Easy choice. MCCain ’08

Palin’s radical stances might serve her well in the inbred Alaskan political wilderness, but in a representative democracy where elected officials are expected to fulfill the will of the people, she reflects far too narrow a slice of the American populace.
Sad, really. I like McCain. If I were a woman I’d be offended by this kind of blatant pandering. This chick is a loose cannon and shouldn’t be anywhere near federal government.

Sitting in Rev. Wright’s church is all right. It is not “actually particularly is not a controversial church”. Working with radicals like Ayers, Farrakhan, Wright and Hamas is all right.
How dumb are some people who would think America would support such a leftist. What happened to “it does not matter .. rich or poor …” Oh I get it, he is just jealous …

From: WordPress-Mudflats
An Alaskan Voice is heard on palin and her “Executive Experience”
Note: Barack Obama was a State Senator and is now a Federal Senator who sits on the Foreign Relations Committee alongside Joe Biden, who is his More Experienced senator, liken unto JFK and LBJ, but Palin’s so called “Executive Experience” is a Rush Limbaugh-Sean Hannity …
JOKE on the American Populus…
MCCAIN-PALIN WILL….LOSE
After extensive news coverage about all this nasty behind-the-scenes scandal, which is definitely NOT squeaky clean, Palin’s approval ratings fell to 67%,
Still high, but a far cry from the 90% number that’s being thrown around so glibly by the Republicans today. Alaskans are quickly becoming disillusioned once again.
“Executive Experience”
Before her meteoric rise to political success as governor, just two short years ago Sarah Palin was the mayor of Wasilla.
I had a good chuckle at MSN.com’s claim that she had been the MAYOR of “Wasilla City”.
It is not a CITY.
Just Wasilla.
Wasilla is the heart of the Alaska “Bible belt” and Sarah was raised amongst the tribe that believes creationism should be taught in our public schools, homosexuality is a sin, and life begins at conception.
She’s a gun-toting, hang ‘em high conservative. Remember…this is where her approval ratings come from.
Note: And Republican bloggers are already gushing about how she has ‘more Executive Experience’ than Obama does!
Above is a picture of lovely downtown Wasilla, for those of you unfamiliar with the area.
Behind the Mug-Shot Saloon (the first bar I visited when I moved to Alaska long ago) its a little strip mall.
There are street signs in Wasilla with bullet holes in them.
Note: Wasilla has a population of about
(5500 People, and 1979 Occupied Housing Units)
This is where your potential Vice President was 2 Short Years Ago.
Can you imagine her negotiating a nuclear non-proliferation treaty ?
Discussing foreign policy?

I just checked on this guy Obama.
He was a state senator and supported every issue if Rev. Wright agreed to it.
He was like a servant of Rev. Wright. He made friendships with radicals and leftist thugs in Chicago.
Rumor has it that he slept around with some out of town guys.
His senate district covered black areas only and most of them live on welfare or earn through street crime.

I keep hearing that VP picks don’t usually cause point swings more than one or two percent. With all the bad press and just plain risk-taking that McCain’s done here, though, I can’t imagine this NOT hurting his campaign.
Palin… a maverick? More like a lunatic. Keep this chick in Alaska where she belongs. At least up there she can only push her freaky views on a few hundred thousand people.

Obama’s socialist agenda and radical friends/associates are indeed scary. I keep having problem knowing he thinks late-term abortion (7-8 mo)is legal and the child lives outside the womb, then slowing dies on a cold steel hospital table. A decent human would treat a stray dog better. An abortion should never be considered an ordinary birth control method. PG by rape and incest is a different matter if the surgery is done early on.
Just because Sarah Palen believes in life does not make her a loose cannon. If women think they should have control of their bodies, maybe they should also control their impulses and bad behavior and be responsible.

This is going to come back to Haunt Mccain in November.
The Party Disarray that the GOP had Predicted would befall the DNC Convention, NEVER EVER MATERIALIZED an now comes the RNP Convention, lets SEE how UNIFIED this convention turns out to be..Hmmmm
Though it was high in shock value, the Palin pick left bruised feelings among the short-list contenders who were not picked — and infuriated some Republican officials who privately said McCain had gone out on a limb, unnecessarily, without laying the groundwork for such an unknown.
Two senior Republican officials close to Mitt Romney and Tim Pawlenty said they had both been rudely strung along and now “Feel Manipulated.”
“They now know that they were used as DECOYS, well after McCain had DECIDED NOT TO PICK THEM,” one Republican involved in the process said.

problem with the energy/fuel situation in the united states in that the congressional leaders are going to try to run out the clock before the elections. that means do NOTHING!
reid/pelosi/obama have no intent to ever allow drilling. they are out of touch with normal americans who need gas to drive to work. these people have private jets and limos and a secret service guard to keep normal people away. they are owned by LOBBYISTS.
the reason the gas crisis will not be handled is because the above named troika want to tax the oil companies, knowing full well the oil companies will put this tax back on the consumer. the only conclusion is they want a higher price on fuel.
i don’t think there is any plan because this madness will have us in a very deep recession by january without enough fuel for supplying stores, getting people to work, heating oil and the hundreds of other petroleum based products.
obama has no idea what he is talking about when he says he will get us off oil in 10 years (he’s lawyer not a scientist), there is a possibility to work off full oil in 30 to 50 years. but only a possibility.

Hi guys, remember me? I gave a big speech the other day? Remember? Even though I said “I” 1143 times in the speech, it really was all about YOU! Remember when I said that? How selfless am I? Remember when I said I am my brothers keeper? Well good news, I just sent my brother $1 so he could take the month of September off! How awesome am I?… I mean how awesome are YOU!

I don’t get some of you guys. What’s anti-American about being left wing? That’s as stupid as me calling you unpatriotic because you didn’t capitalize “American” while blathering some nonsense about Obama being a racist and whatnot. I’m not really even left wing… I don’t like radicals on either side.
Are you really so scared of something different?
Come on. If Obama’s elected, you think the end of the world is nigh? Republicans have been in office for the past eight years. The vast majority of Americans feel worse off now than they did when Bush took office. What say we give Obama a chance, and if he sucks, kick him out in four years. Hell I’ll be at the front of the line voting for someone else if he’s no good.

Oh and Mary, you may be interested in this Obama quote where he says states should decide about late-term abortion:
I absolutely can, so please don’t believe the emails. I have repeatedly said that I think it’s entirely appropriate for states to restrict or even prohibit late-term abortions as long as there is a strict, well-defined exception for the health of the mother. Now, I don’t think that “mental distress” qualifies as the health of the mother. I think it has to be a serious physical issue that arises in pregnancy, where there are real, significant problems to the mother carrying that child to term. Otherwise, as long as there is such a medical exception in place, I think we can prohibit late-term abortions.

I watched Sarah Palin’s introduction speech. She railed against “the good old boy network”, bragged how she “challenged the status quo” and came out strong against “earmarks”.
Given the problems America faces, these credentials were pretty mediocre. But John McCain looked very excited.
Nice rack.

Posted by: jason | August 31, 2008, 12:59 am 12:59 am

Wow, it has been a while since I have seen so many people spouting the same lies. Looks like you have all rad the talking points, and are spreading the same crap. Obama supports late term abortions? LIE. He supports every position the reverend Wright speaks on? LIE.
McCain has his own dangerous radical preacher that he admits is his inspiration. There is a member of congress that has also repeatedly been against drilling, until he could get votes by supporting it. Oh yeah, McCain! You all didn’t like Kerry because he “flip flops.” Hell, McCain flips on his own legislation to get votes! He even supports torture! SHame on him for putting our men in harm’s way! He repeatedly voted against GI benefits. Shame on him for not supporting our troops! He gets bad grades by several vet groups. Obama gets much better grades!
Obama fights the lobbyists that have caused this economic mess, including the gas price problem. Is it a shortage that has caused this? NO! There are no lines at the pump. We aren’t running out of gas! It is the Enron loophole, that McCain voted for, and refuses to close. You know, the one created by his economic advisor! His foreign policy is written by a lobbyist for a foreign country! Way to support the US! HE has lobbyists in his group from dictators (some with ties to terrorists), and banks. For shame!
Do some research! McCain isn’t the once proud Maverick! He is now a puppet being forced to take stands he doesn’t believe in! That is why he is throwing the race. Either that or his mind is starting to fail. We don’t need a president that can’t get Sunni and Shiite correct. We don’t need a president that can’t remember (even for a day) that Czechoslovakia hasn’t been a country for over a decade. How can he lead foreign policy if he doesn’t even know what countries exist and which don’t? Who is going to do it? Palin? I don’t think so!
Oh, and Palin. First McCain says that the VP must be someone who can run the country, and someone he trusts. Then he goes and picks a woman, simply because she IS a woman. You think he would have picked her if she were a man? A woman who has no experience on the national stage, or in foreign relations. A woman that is under investigation for ethics violations (by Republicans, no less). There is also this little matter of her latest baby, a son. Or, if you listen to the word in Alaska, GRANDSON, by her 15 year old daughter. No idea if that is true, but there IS a question that needs to be answered. Do YOU want this woman running the country? I don’t think so! DO you want her running at least two wars, and facing off against Putin?
Once again the Republicans make America the laughing stock of the world, if the world wasn’t so scared that we will continue to wreck it!
Vote Obama! Obama for the troops! Obama for clean energy (about time someone laid it out there. We are doomed unless we gat off oil! Drilling is NOT getting off oil, it is just making us more dependent)! Vote Obama to balance the budget! Only Democrats have been able to do that! Clinton did it! Then the Republicans screwed it up again, selling us to China of all places! They only want balance when the Dems are in power, and we did it!
The Democrats have proven they bring you prosperity! They bring PEACE! They bring stability! Vote for Obama in November. We can NOT take 4 more years of war, and selling off this country to China!

Posted by: Stan | August 31, 2008, 12:59 am 12:59 am

Jason, you are an obamabot. People gave the presidency (or did not give) because Bush promised not to do anything with any blue dress-worn woman. Remember the upholding of the honor and integrity crap.
Look what happened to the country after 4 years of Bush rule ( and worse after 8 years). That’s why we should not give 4 years to unquailified people like Obama. You may want to stand in another change line. However, we don’t have the inclination nor the energy to let another pretender (claiming to be a uniter) to become president. The fierce urgency of now id Mr. Obama to prove that he can bring people together to solve our problems. You don’t have to be president to solve problems. Being a senator is mighty plenty. ASk him to show up after another 8 years with a record to brag and not empty rhetoric and we will consider.
Till then, ask him to go back to the Senate.

dear jason,
you are buying off on that old moon beam dream again. this was a different country then. do you even have any proof of this moon deal? maybe LBG or nixon just took the money and told people they were on the moon.
obama does not have a clue when he talks about ending foreign oil in 10 years and with no domestic drilling.
just tell me what this first three steps are to end oil dependence.
1/tell everyone to get rid of their cars?
2/tell them not to heat their homes?
3/tell them not to expect deliveries to their stores.
these guys want to revert to a colonial economy. royalty (THEM) serfs (US).
there is absoltely no science to this fable. see of all places the HISTORY channel report on the thousands of products made from petroleum products.
obama (the non-scientist) talked about natural gas. two places you can get natural gas. drill or get in from the oil refining process. but he doesn’t know that.
what are you talking about parrot foxnews? are you a total dope.
nobody there or CNN or MSNBC know much about science except some guests who probably get 2 minutes of air time.
ambitious but doable. is that sloganeering you picked up off a kooky web-site?
give the first three steps or i’m calling you as a fool!
“AMBITIOUS BUT DOABLE”. what?
put some windpower or hot air in your gas tank, better yet how about some corn cobs? any idea how many acres of corn it would cost to fuel a 747?
if you would believe a politician’s speech you made need treatment. all they are is laundry lists of items they would like to think possible.
most senators are incredibly dumb individuals. name one with an IQ over 125? maybe the idiot mccain or the very dumb biden. law school grad finished 76 out of 85. that’s why he’s a politicain and not a lawyer. mccain 592 out of 597. why he’s a senator and not retired admiral.
you see these senators obama. mccain or clinton only read pre-approved speeches written by poll tested emotionally tugging items. not reality based facts/data.

Interesting how the “Joan of Arc” article cited on the blog is hardly flattering (http://www.postgazette.com/pg/08243/908257-176.stm):
“…even as she drew increasing attention nationally as a potential vice-presidential nominee in recent months, she has come under withering criticism at home from business-minded Republicans who consider her a misguided populist and an intellectual lightweight.”
And:
“Critics call her naive, a panderer in her economic populism and reckless in her dealings with the vital oil industry.”
The blog itself would seem to be a recent creation of the McCain campaign. The tip-off? Palin is now “pro-victory in Iraq”, where until last week the only public statement she’d make on Iraq was “I sure hope we have an exit strategy”.

2.) declaring support for my mother country, the congo.
Those are the only bills that I have sponsered that have passed into law since I became a Senator.

Ambitious but doable, and I stand by it. American ingenuity and engineering is unparalleled in the world, and when we set our collective minds to doing something, we can accomplish it.
1) Reform nuclear power laws. Nuclear reactors produce tons of clean power, and pebble-bed reactors create hydrogen as a by-product.
2) Retool national fueling stations to add hydrogen pumps. Don’t replace existing gas pumps, just add hydrogen. Seriously expensive? You bet. Can we afford it? Windfall taxes on oil companies would make this a slam dunk. People don’t need to give up their existing cars… this would just put hydrogen in play and make it a viable fuel for long-haul trips.
3) Enhance efficiency. Increase mileage standards for new cars, invest in clean coal and natural gas, and work to increase efficiency in Canadian oil sand refineries so the cost of purchasing oil within North American is more competitive than buying it from the Middle East.
There’s the first three steps you asked for. And that’s just off the top of my head. I’m sure with even the most basic research, you might find some reason to HOPE THINGS CAN BE BETTER>
The level of pessimism a lot of you are showing is really appalling. Talk about un-American.

I can’t imagine the shock from the republican conservative base when they will learn the “real Sarah Palin”. The days of euphoria will be replaced by days of drama. Actually, who can explain to me, why all pictures from Sarah Palin in office last february and march were suddenly removed ? Something is brewing out there, and this is not a Cindy McCain beer this time.

Joseph: “What has [Biden] done in the energy business, sitting on his hands???”
Let me see: he voted for renewable energy fairly consistently. He has earned an 83 percent lifetime score from the League of Conservation Voters during his 35 years representing Delaware in the U.S. Senate.
Some key points:
He was the primary cosponsor of a “Sense of the Senate” resolution calling on the U.S. to participate in U.N. climate negotiations. He introduced it with Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.) in the current Congress and the previous one.
Cosponsor of the Boxer-Sanders Global Warming Pollution Reduction Act, the most stringent climate bill in the Senate.
Got something else?

hey “Obama”, I thought you made a decent point a while back about not wanting another inexperienced president like Bush in office. Kudos for making one of the only decent points in this whole discussion.
However, I think the inexperience angle doesn’t hold water. We’ve had plenty of presidents without tons of political experience in the past who rose to the occasion… Washington, Lincoln, Eisenhower, Kennedy.
Presidents are only as good as the cabinets they fill. Seems to me that Obama is well aware of his shortcomings and will appoint qualified people to bolster his experience in those areas. Hell, even Bush could have been a decent president if he hadn’t been surrounded by such a pack of rabid, money-grubbing, neo-conservative wolves.

Exceptions are not the rule. Inexperienced people make bad presidents.
Obama flip-flopped on so many issues. There is nothing you can trust this person with. He wanted to refine the Iraq war stance until he heard from his supporters. He wants to leave 80,000 troops in Iraq as a residual force and claim to have “Mission Accomplished, Pulled troops out of Iraq”. Obama is not a honest person. He seems to be worse than the Clintons.

ALL politicians make “flip-flop” decisions. It’s called figuring things out. They do it in science, too, when they’re trying to get at the truth of something.
I think flip-flop charges are ridiculous when leveled against EITHER party. Can’t people be wrong and work to correct their mistakes? That’s how we become better, wiser, more educated people. Nobody is right about everything the first time, all the time.

cmon, polls are useless and you know it as well as the rest of us. They’re just there to give people talking points. Everyone should ignore them. All that matters is who wins in the end, and nobody knows who that will be until November… no matter how many polls happen between now and then.

‘ambitious but doable’.
nice try i admire your diligence.
however, environmentalists will not allow any updates on nuclear activity. that is really too bad because they are the ONLY form of ‘renewable’ energy. that is why we have not been able to come anywhere near france’s 80% reliability on nuclear.(we are at 19%) the main reason is that no one wants to store the spent rods, even though yucca mtn was approved decades ago. now harry reid is fighting it. that source would be excellent but a movie “THE CHINA SYNDROME” scared off all the emotional voters. this should happen, i hold out no hope until gas is about $10 a gallon.
hydrogen pumps another good idea. but the tecnology is many years off. this windfall profits idea is absolutely crazy. oil comapanies will charge any tax back to the consumer, so the price will just add up. by the way oil companies have made the decision they don’t want to build any more refineries. too much hassle and let consumers fight over the available product. i don’t know if you or many others are aware of this. the long term goal is for the current BIG FIVE of oil is to get out of the business over the next 20/30 years. they are buying back their stock and will become holding companies/ it will be up to the smaller companies 6-20 to become the new oil business. currently there are 20 medium to large business units, not MEGA-OIL.
we tried smaller cars years ago and then people started driving these giant trucks. the biggest problem with fuel efficiency (i support that to a degree)
but that should be a consumer choice and not up to some uninformed politician who becomes a lobbyist next term. why not rocky mountain oil sand? why should canada do our dirty business?
who is the number one oil supplier to the USA? canada, but only because the NAFTA law requires, they want to stop this and go on the open market. when you are dealing with oil/energy the marketplace gets very confusing.
i think your thought process is in the right place but the real problem lies with the environmentalist movement and their lawyers who are holding everyting at a standstill. i think you will agree that US citizens are being held hostage by the special interest groups that control the gov’t process. once again oil is held hostage due to the emotional nature of the santa barbara oil spill almost 40 years ago.
once again emotion overrrules a reasonable approach with safeguards taken. (THE PARIS HILTON PLAN).
she knows better than the lobbyist’s hostages (senators).
having done some work with the oil suppliers in the past i am really surprised as how they have kind of given up on any advances.
remember we haven’t built an oil refinery in almost 35 years and at the same time increased population by almost 50 million. they are using lots of energy.
but it appears that you really want to solve the crisis. if we don’t do something we will be in a deep recession by january. people with their current lifestyles cannot afford $4-$5 a gallon gas or diesel.
stay after it.
remember windfall tax is a new tax on gas. it’s just the way business is done.
hate to use a cliche but businesses don’t pay taxes, customers do.

I heard Sarah Palin speak at a McCain rally in Washington Pennsylvania today…
It was the “exact same speech” she gave as her acceptance speech yesterday, but not delivered as well… Today the crowd booed loudly when she came to her tired line praising Hillary Clinton!
So what kind of a joke is this? McCain offers us some “pretty” one trick pony?
She recanted the same tired story, the same LIE about the bridge to nowhere.
She actually supported the bridge in 2006, but when the focus came on it and federal funds were cut, she ran away from that support at full speed!
http://thinkprogress.org/2008/08/30/palin-wanted-nowhere-bridges/
What is this, some kind of an ill conceived beauty pageant? Also McCain just bumbled through his introduction of her as well, making mistake after mistake, just very sad to see…
Now he wants us to vote for him and his rah, rah “yes woman” cheerleader with ZERO National and Foreign Policy experience??

Posted by: Davis | August 31, 2008, 2:40 am 2:40 am

bsmith, great to hear you come back with a level-headed comment. I think we agree on a lot of things.
The nuclear laws DEFINITELY need to be revamped. I’m with you in thinking environmentalists go way too far sometimes, and nuclear power is one such instance. It’s really the only option. I think common-sense thinking in Washington with fresh thinkers who aren’t beholden to special interests might be able to take this on.
The Rocky Mountain oil sands are a marvelous untapped resource, but processing on a level adequate enough to make a difference would require massive amounts of water–something which, as a resident of the southwest, I’m reminded of every day is a very short resource. I’m not against it but it might be difficult to get water rights. If we can make it work and keep everybody well-hydrated and not wreck the land in the process… lets go for it.
I’m not so sure about the tax thing. We’re ALREADY being “taxed” by the oil companies as you can see from the astronomical profits they’re seeing. If the government imposed, for example, a 40% tax on oil company profits, there’s no way they could turn around and pass that on. The economy would collapse with $7 a gallon gas.
I agree that Americans are consuming way more than they can. I hate the credit-driven, Hummer driving, 3000 square foot cookie-cutter house mentality that’s permeated the country over the past 20 years. A little more personal responsibility on everyone’s part would be the most patriotic thing any of us could do.

I don’t think conservatives should be getting too excited. Palin has two moments left in this election, unless any scandals around her get traction, a convention speech and a debate. IF her roll out performance is anything to go by, that won’t be that impressive (I capitalised the if deliberately, i am expecting something better!)
I think there is far more to come from Obama. You can try and smear him on these boards as much as you want. Truth is though that many Americans think he is the right choice to really bring change to America.

Sarah Palin has real executive experience – she ran a successful business, a town, and a state. She understands the energy industry and is a leader in this field. She has many levels of people reporting to her and she is tough. Sarah’s high public approval shows that she is doing all the right stuff. Obama, on the other hand, was rabble-rousing Chicago street thug (as Bill Clinton tells us) before becoming a state the US senator. His senator stints are sub optimal at best with a very liberal voting record. His only *executive* experience was the failed chairmanship at CAC which he does not want to talk about let alone acknowledge – this will come back to bite him soon. Obama does not understand energy at all. He is beholden to the extreme left’s idea that wind and sun is the only solution – lets all go back to the stone age. So, who’s the real boss – Sarah is, Obama you are fired.

One thing that can never be underestimated is Professional Republican hypocrisy and self-defeating arrogance. The Vice President pick proves all of their howling over Mr. Obama being a celebrity and inexperienced was all cover. Its also a ham-handed attempt to get the voters who supported Senator Clinton with the assumption they are so stupid they won’t notice that Palin is against every single thing they believe in.
And awakens the conservative base how? McCain is still the person running for President unless the assumption is as soon as he is elected McCain will disregard all the positions that have given him any credit among independents or that he really does have one foot in the grave and they are eagerly anticipating President Palin.

By his flip-flopping rush to the opposite position on every issue that he talked big about and humiliated Sen Clinton with, his “Change” message has become hollow. And it includes his choice of his VP candidate with the longest years of service in Washington politics. Although, he used that criteria to generate so much of hatred against Sen Clinton. But look at his political backers including the Kennedys. How many years they spent in the so-called old style divisive Washington style of politics. Also, a man who divided the dems by contesting against Jimmy Carter and then refusing to shake his hands during the party convention. Not surprising, if one remembers how Sen Obama dumped his one time political mentor, Alice Palmer, from Chicago. Perhaps, as they say so often, they believe themselves to be the smartest blokes around, and the rest of the voting population to be fools, who will sing to their select tunes all the time.

A few points (I hope well taken)
Every research paper I have read said that offshore drilling will add no fuel for 10 years or more. When it does come on line it will contribute less then 1% to U.S. oil needs. If our consumption of fossil fuels increases only marginally the new oil stream will contribute nothing to ease the shortage. So here I give Obama a big plus for having said we need alternate energy sources. I give McCain a big minus for being ignorant on the issue and playing with the issue to make political points with the ignorant.
McCain is against most all VA benefits. Nothing more need be said.
Obama’s plans call for a lot of spending. Of course there is spending that will save in the long run and spending that is wasteful. McCain wants to reduce spending and extend tax cuts.I think we have been along this road with Bush and have spent ourselves into a deep financial hole. So no points for either man.
If McCain dies or becomes sick in office (highly likely) his replacement should be very competent. Sarah Palin is not. It was said that Bush had no national experience and the Republican spin doctors touted Bush’s ability to attract bright people and he had a track record as a great CEO. From that perspective McCain has chosen a sucessor with no ability to act in his absence. What was he thinking? BTW: A comparison of Palin to Obama leaves out a few critical points. Obama was a Constitutional Law professor and worked for a prestigious law firm. Palin has a BS degree from a relatively lowly school and would not make it through the front door of a major U.S. corporation based on her background before becoming Gov. and her education. McCain…near bottom of his West Point class and Palin…a BS degree from a lowly college does not offer a sense of confidence for an ability to run the U.S.A.

“We should all be proud of Governor Sarah Palin’s historic nomination, and I congratulate her and Senator McCain,” Clinton, the first woman to win a presidential primary, said in the statement. “Governor Palin will add an important new voice to the debate.”
I love Hillary Clinton! Thank you for praising and supporting Governor Palin. I bet the Obama camp will now start attacking Hillary again…..Obambots are so lame!

Looks like Obama’s “little” bounce of 8 pts is over. According to Gallup today, Obama has dropped to only 6 pts ahead of McCain. Obama fell extremely short of the 12 to 15 pt bounce after a convention as other candidates have done in the past.
It appears that America has turned their attention to Senator McCain and Governor Palin. Obama continues to dwindle his lead in the polls.

From Gallup:
“As the recent trend shows, Obama did not gain any additional support in the poll since his generally well-reviewed acceptance speech on Thursday night.”
Way to Go, McCain/Palin 08!

Talking about Dr. No, the expert on Nothingness certainly knows the best. He created a God of Nothingness, Zerobameus. In his entire political agenda, or platform, you cannot find a single word of “nuclear” for the use of atomic energy. If you have no clue, no idea, no plan on developing nuclear energy, how in heaven’s sake, you can create a long term energy and economic future, reducing the dependence of foreign oil, reducing the release of green house gas by burning coals and natural gas to generate electricity, and reducing the loss of jobs to foreign countries.
Zerobameus, where is the beef in your energy “plan”?

McCain is just one man in a sea of many. Many Democrats & Republicans are Dr. No’s. Both Democrats & Republics have followed the status quo. Stupid, but the results cannot be blamed on one man out of many. At least McCain is real and has the intelligence to realize until we find the ultimate solution, (with the help of the American People & Sarah Palin) we need to drill now. McCain is not not just Puff & Stuff, polictical rhetoric a messiah, he is a servant of his country of the people. As for Palin, she is the women all women should be. She is real, she is touchable, she stands for something & she serves the people. Nancy Pelsoi is merely a self-important, idiot who thinks she is the most powerful women in the world. What does power have to do with serving the people? It is about putting the people, the country first.
