Alaska First Dude Todd Palin Knew Wife Was Destined for Higher Office

ABC News’ Tahman Bradley Reports: Todd Palin, the husband of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren that he wasn’t all that surprised that his wife would be tapped as the Republican vice presidential candidate because he always believed she was destined for a position higher than governor of Alaska (governor of a state is a pretty high office, so that leaves only a short list of possible offices his wife could seek).

Palin also admitted a bit of surprise that the run for higher office would come so soon. His wife has been Alaska governor for only 21 months. She was mayor of a small town before that.

"For me it wasn’t a huge surprise. You know, I’m just glad that they tapped into her. And I think Americans are seeing what she’s about. And so to me it wasn’t a big shock. I knew she was destined for higher positions, maybe not as soon. But that’s just the way she is."

Mr. Palin told Van Susteren he first started to suspect his wife might be in serious contention to be Arizona Sen. John McCain’s running mate when he began to receive inquires about his background. He did not elaborate on the source of the inquires.

Asked if he thought his wife would go into politics when they first met in high school in 1981, Palin said, " No." He continued, "I just didn’t see it in her." He envisioned that his wife would be "a professional of some sort" after college. As for what he did when his wife went off to complete her education at 5 colleges in 6 years, Palin told Van Susteren he was busy with various jobs.

Mr. Palin didn’t envision his wife’s successful political career when they first met, but he did think they would marry one day. "I just felt that connection, you know. And…you just have that feeling."

Asked if he had a particular title in mind that he’d like to be called as the spouse of the vice president, and if first man was even appropriate given that McCain would technically be the nation’s first man, Palin shrugged off the question with his patent super-calm demeanor.

"Not really. I’m very easy."

Heh. There’s no need to refer to Todd Palin as the “first dude” of Alaska. He seems a little more substantial than some college sophomore psych major.

Very happy for the Palins.

She was not born into politics. She did not marry into politics. Give the women some credit. Just because we may not agree with her on issues doesn’t mean she is evil or stupid.

Todd Palin — a Native American! it brings tears to my eyes to see a minority finally make it to the whitehouse! Leave it to the GOP to bring quality diversity to Washington.
Meanwhile….
Strange, but ABC news is STILL not reporting or investigating the NY post story on Obama possibly violating the Logan act by trying to interfere with Iragi troop withdrawal. Why are we bombarded with story after story about Palin and library books, and not one mention of this potential act of treason? I am so confused?
it MUST be investigated! Americans deserve better treatment!

If we just didn’t have this little problem with the economy, and this little problem with Iraq, if it were all just good fun, then yes, I’d say Todd and Sarah, along with McCain, might not be so bad. As it stands now the only place I see them running this country is into the ground.

Posted by: Susan | September 15, 2008, 11:41 pm 11:41 pm

Susan, I have honestly tried to understand the democratic philosophy. But how can you think that higher taxes and more government programs will help the economy? What will help the economy is a federal budget that shrinks, less pork in Washington D.C. and true fiscal responsibility.
I don’t think that increasing the taxes on only 5% of the richest people will do anything other than give them more incentive to figure out how not to pay taxes.
Start thinking rationally!

Palins in or near the White House… that’s an even stronger call for disaster than McCain on a snowmachine.
America would become an international running joke.
It would make a great reality show though… the McCains and the Palins… All In The All White Family…

“As for what he did when his wife went off to complete her education at 5 colleges in 6 years, Palin told Van Susteren he was busy with various jobs.”
Can you do just a little bit of fact-checking before you write something like this?
1. Hawaii Pacific College Fall 1982
2. North Idaho College Spring/Fall ’83
– (No school Spring ’84)
3. University of Idaho. Fall ’84/Spring ’85
4. Matanuska-Susitna College Fall ’85
3: University of Idaho AGAIN Spring ’86, Fall ’86,Spring ’87 (graduated) You don’t get to call U. of Idaho both the third and fifth school; it’s only one school.
That’s FOUR colleges over a FIVE-year span (Nine of the ten semesters from Fall ’82 to Spring ’87), even though it covered parts of six calendar years. We don’t count college years that way. You don’t say a person who attended 8 consecutive semesters did so “over five years”; saying Palin attended over six years is a deliberate attempt to mislead people.

I am struck just how average down to earth type people the Palins are. So often, I have hoped that an average person would run the country verses the usual elitist crooked Washington Insider……last 1/2 normal person I can think of that held office was Reagan (not Mrs. Reagan).

Posted by: chattyway | September 16, 2008, 12:19 am 12:19 am

I saw the Greta Van Susteren piece on Todd Palin. I was truly touched and impressed by this REAL American Man. I am sure that Sarah is just as appealing but I doubt if the media will ever allow us to see the “real” Sarah. Even our beloved Charlie had to interview her in such a condescending tone. Sad really. Journalists, you might not like her or agree with her views but we really want to spend time with Sarah, even if just on TV. Please try to be fair.

Posted by: Rebecca | September 16, 2008, 12:22 am 12:22 am

Obama spoke about withdrawal but when he was in Iraq he talked to the Iraqi leadership there about not withdrawing American troops until after the election… he directly interferred with official foreign policy which is a violation of the Logan Act. This is called lying to his own supporters.
Also we could mention that he is friends with an unrepentant terrorist named Bill Ayers, began his political career in Ayers’ living room.
Yet we have to parse words over a man who believe his wife was destined to do something great. I believe she is too…
Maybe that is what ABC is scared of, but you know, if she is destined… then there is nothing ABC can do about it right? Though we will watch them try their hardest the next several weeks… it is your fate ABC. Fate.
HA.
McCain&Cindy/Sarah&Todd ’08
I love these people! Love them! Analyze that!
Can’t believe they wrote a story on this… let’s forget about the guy with unrepentant terrorists as friends running for the presidency… let’s only focus the people’s minds on what we want them to think about.
Right ABC?

Todd doesn’t even have a college degree, and his wife is almost as uneducated. It was OBVIOUS listening to her interview that she hasn’t paid much attention to national politics. She is WAY WAY behind in the knowledge that’s required to be Vice President, and she can’t even use her ‘vocabulary words’ correctly. What a doofus.
You people who are voting for her probably never made it past 8th grade… that is pretty obvious. Your ignorance is absolutely astounding.
The truth will come out. She is a crooked politician. She only wanted the Good Old Boys out of Alaskan politics so she could take their place.
You people are being duped by your own party. What fools indeed.

Posted by: lindsay | September 16, 2008, 12:33 am 12:33 am

I don’t get how ‘being average’ means you’d make a better president then someone with the proper credentials. This “she’s so normal” is a bad thing if you ask me. A president should have a top notch ivy league education or another achievement that proves something. Another thing is, we don’t need five kids running around the white house. It’s hard enough to run things with five kids let alone five kids and running the country. I wish good things for Palin but I sure hope she loses this one. We don’t need another republican in the white house.

Posted by: Jim Thorpe | September 16, 2008, 12:34 am 12:34 am

Some of you people are absolutely retarded, and I don’t feel bad what so ever for saying it. Seriously, how much convincing do you need that casting a vote for candidate A because he/she is “more likeable” or “has a better personality” is a HORRID idea?
Look, we ended up in this mess in part because people voted for the guy they’d rather have a god damned beer with.
Supporters of BOTH candidates need to wake the f**k up and start looking at the issues. Do you need a reminder of what those are?
1.)Iraq – What led to us being there? Why haven’t we won? What are we going to do about it?
2.)See above, but strike the first part…that much is known.
3.)Our economy isn’t dead in the water, but it’s scarcely in full health these days. Again…what led to this crap, and what are we going to do about it?
3.)Bipartisanship. We haven’t seen REAL bipartisanship in this country in a long time, and it’s high time and candidate takes it seriously, otherwise we’ll continue to flounder.
What’s frustrating about this is that the media isn’t going to do a thing about it. While I think ABC is a good organization(shameless plug), they’re just as guilty as the rest with not taking politicians to task, instead concentrating on garbage like this. . .

“Obama spoke about withdrawal but when he was in Iraq he talked to the Iraqi leadership there about not withdrawing American troops until after the election… he directly interferred with official foreign policy which is a violation of the Logan Act.”
DO you have proof of this? If this was true, it would have come out a LONG time ago; you and the rest of the raving loonie right-wingers are grasping at straws trying in vain to steal another election with dishonesty. Even if it was true, do you really think the Iraqi government is going to tattle on Obama?

It is beyond comprehension just how ignorant these media types are. To think they can criticize Sarah Palin for not having enough experience to be VP all the while, Obama has the same amount if not less experience and he is running for President. Do you people really think we are so stupid? Really?

Obama has a law degree from one of the most repsected institutions in the country, and is an expert in Constitutional Law. He knows his stuff and can hold his own in any intellectual environment.
You DO know what the Constitution is, don’t you? Did they teach that before you dropped out of 8th grade? It’s that crazy little document that forms the backbone of our entire government, just in case you didn’t know.
I am sorry, but it takes a little more than what Sarah’s got to be president. Haven’t you noticed they won’t let her do interviews? It’s because she is almost CLUELESS!! I am talking CLUELESS!!

Billie-
About raising the minimum wage….I agree with the sentiment that expecting someone to support themselves with a minimum wage job is absurd, raising it just raises the cost of everything else…and usually disproportionately. We need to make sure that people can get the education they need (affordably, might I add) to ensure that they don’t rely on minimum wage jobs. Simply saying “raise it” isn’t enough, and both candidates know it.

Tonight the McCain camp is calling him out on the things that he said in Iraq. The issue is that he simply needs to answer for it. Like he hasn’t answered on alot of serious concerns which have been proven, i.e. Obama is friends with an unrepentant terrosist named Bill Ayers. Why hasn’t the media covered this? That is the point of my comment. You can vote for the who is friends with a terrorist if you want… does that fit under the definition of looney.

Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, the economy and so on. Do I worry about Palin steering the ship if need be? Of course. Do I worry about Obama steering the ship? Of course. Do I think had Obama put Clinton on as VP that Palin would be on the ticket? No.
Do I think if Obama had more experience to be on the top of the Democratic ticket that Palin would be on the ticket? Absolutely not. Obama and Palin are two up and coming bright and shining stars of their respective parties- they are the future of the their parties. The Democrats decided to put their upstart on the top of the ticket and the Republicans decided to put their’s on the bottom of their ticket. The only difference I see between the two is that Obama clearly had grander aspirations politically and has been on the campaign trail for most of his US Senate term and while not having the actual experience he does have the experience of talking about foreign policy issues and answering the same questions over and over. That’s his experience- talking about it. Palin clearly didn’t have grander political aspirations at the time, had she, she clearly would have paid more attention to issues around foreign policy. Palin spent her time focusing on the job she was elected to do and obviously has been very popular with the people of Alaska in doing so. I worry more about Obama’s knucklehead response after the Georgia/Russia conflict where he didn’t know the Russians had veto power on his initial recommendation then I do Palin not knowing the Bush Doctrine, since Gibson himself didn’t know it. I’d rather have inexperience on the bottom of the ticket then the top.

Yes, Lindsay, Obamessiah has that great college education, but he has the ethics of a jackal and common sense of a fruit fly. I like how keeps trying to ping on McCain/Palin on earmarks and keeps getting his butt handed right back to him. On the experience issue, he got taken to the woodshed as just another empty suit with delusions of his own granduer. I’ll take McCain’s and Palin’s combined decades of leadership and real world experience over Obambi’s 143 days in the Senate where his greatest accomplishment was he wrote a book. I’ll take McCain’s Naval War College training over The One’s fancy schools. The Constitution? Obamessiah’s minions have been working to stifle media criticism of him by threats of lawsuits and boycotts. Yes, we know what the Constitution is. Tell us all, Lindsay, what rights and freedoms have YOU personally lost as a result of the War on Terror. Obviously, you have not lost the freedom of speech, have you? Respectfully to Lindsay and Henderson
Iraqi leader referring to Obama’s conversation in his visit to Iraq:
“He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington,” Zebari said in an interview.
Is this not an issue?
Are you going to call out all the trolls or just the ones you don’t like?

I am sick of Palin’s fake smile and practiced trite answers. When is she going to talk to the press off script?

‘According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.’

Rey-
I know you wanted to hear from Lindsay on this, but you got me instead. Here we go….try and keep up:
1.)Obama has the ethics of a jackal and the common sense of a fruit fly. If that’s the case, why is the other ticket dealing with an ethics investigation? Why were GOP senators lining up to co-sponsor legislation with him?
2.)If, by “decades of combined experience” you mean “decades of McCain’
s experience along with 300 days of managing Caribou”, than I agree. If you seriously want to know all that Obama has done in his short stint, check the voting record so I don’t have to spell it out in crayon for you.
3.)McCain’s Naval War College stint….his family connections got him in, and he managed to graduate 255th out of 259…stunning and illustrious indeed. Tell me, what good will all of that do once he’s President? More wars? Oh, goody! More confrontational foreign policy hell-bent on ending negotiation once and for all? JOY!
4.)We’ve lost the freedom to drink bottled water on a plane, say whatever we want in emails on phone conversations, and we’ve also lost the majority of the planet’s respect for us. That might not mean a whole lot to you (although it should as you’re a vet), but it means a f*** of a lot to me!
5.)Show us where Obama threatened lawsuits to get the media off of his back. S**t, the McCain camp is BLATANTLY shielding Ms. “Hockey Mom” from ANY kind of attention, and nobody is saying a god damned thing about it.
There ya go, slugger. Fire it up if you want to get serious with these discussions.

Respectfully to David:
Yeah, that’s f***ed on the part of Obama, but when speaking of Iraq, I can’t help but to think of the quote of some of their past officials as well as their citizenry: “Holy sh**, they’re killing us!”
What Obama should have done, rather than play a shady game like that with a foreign minister, he should be hinting at the fact that Bush and his groupies never mentioned f***-all about “horizons” or cut-backs until it started to gain momentum because of the Democrats hammering at it.
Keep it up, I’m digging the discussions, now!

We are at war… and Obama tried to directly influence how Iraqi officials dealt with the United States government and its policy… for his own selfish political purposes for that matter… an Iraqi official who is now a part of a flegling democracy that is now in the place of a former cruel dictator.

McCain is tied or ahead in all 5 swing states as of today. This is all still so close and polls change daily. Americans better come to their senses in the booth and vote McCain/Palin.

Debra-
Look at polling trends in the past 10 elections or so and re-examine what you’ve just said. Americans didn’t “come to their senses on McCain/Palin” anymore than you’ve “come to your senses” on reality. There’s been a bounce because Palin’s in the news, and sadly people vote from talking points and their emotions (Democrats included). Within days, it’s going to be where it was before the conventions: Obama leading by a small margin.
With the economic news of today, the ball is squarely in the court of Obama, and if he wants to win, he needs to stick it down McCain’s throat.
Point is this: Americans saw Palin on TV. America is facinated with Palin. Palin doesn’t do so well with the media under pressure, and as soon as they take their baby-handling mittens off, she’s in deep sh*t. McCain got some ‘splainin’ to do….

Sarah Palin went to “five colleges in six years”…..hmmm.Doesn’t sound like she’s the paragon of stability. And when you think that one of those was a community college because she flunked out of her four-year college, you have to wonder what McCain was thinking.
Even George W. Bush got through Yale in four years and never flunked a class !

Since the Logan Act was enacted in 1799 and not one single person has ever been prosecuted under it, I really wouldn’t hold my breath on that. In any case, investigating someone for a violation of a law that is over 200 years old and has never been used might look just a wee bit suspicious.
Not to mention the fact that some scholars have noted that it is written so broadly that it would probably be found to be unconstitutional.
Just wiki it.

Perhaps it is a mistake for Sen Obama to stress that Gov Palin attended several different colleges.
There are many Americans who worked their way thru school at whatever school had the class schedules that worked with their work hours. And for them it was not a direct 4 years.
Sen and Mrs Obama were admitted thru affirmative action, graded on affirmative action, and did not work.
Its the same as being from wealth but you don’t have to make the grades. Now both Sen Obama and Mrs Obama are scornful of those who were less fortunate and critical of the system that paid for their education.

Posted by: Kate | September 16, 2008, 6:37 am 6:37 am

Kate, boggles the mind that the Obama’s can so easily ridicule the nation that has given them so much and from which they have taken so much. The most infuriating thing about Obama is his insistance on putting down the USA so easily. He has probably singlehandedly done more to damage the world’s opinion of the USA than any other politician in modern times running for POTUS with his anti-American rhetoric.

Anyone thinking the Palins are a true American dream needs to look at who they are worshipping. Sarah was the object of a recall vote shortly after she became Mayor of Wasilla and only kept her job because an administrator was hired to do the executive work that she screwed up so badly. The community had no debt when she was elected, but was nearly broke when she left. Her accomplishments…a sports complex that has never made a dime, a new road to a ski resort, and a stoplight in front of the McDonalds on Main Street. Todd Palin (a civilian) was given access to state employee personnel files and used that information to harass political opponents. These two make Cheney look like an angel.

It’s funny how the critics always bring up the Palin’s ties to the Alaska Independence Party, but completely ignore the Alaska Libertarian Party. The ALP leadership supported Palin for Governor in 2006, evening waving signs for her on street corners in Anchorage. She attended two Libertarian Party meetings that year, as well.
You won’t hear about this, cause the liberal media knows that being a libertarian is a net positive and would help Sarah Palin win libertarian votes. So they ignore the Libertarian Party angle, and just talk about the mysterious Alaska Independence Party.

The problem with the “but Obama is ready because he went to Harvard and was a constitutional law professor” is that the relevant experience is executive experience,of which he has exactly zero. Secondly he may know the law but he is so ideologically blinded that his application of the law will be so outside the mainstream as to shock most Americans , if they become aware of it.
One need only look at his position on abortion in which he goes so far as to ALLOW infanticide to know he is far far to the left and does not support the kind of constitution that most Americans hold dear.
Obama is a proponent of bigger government, “fairness” in taxes ( which to him means take more from the rich whether it lowers government revenue or not a truly scary position) NO restrictions on abortion and appoint judges with no respect for constitutional tradition but belief in their own power to make America more “fair”.
Wake up Obamabots- this is a dangerous man WITHOUT experience.
Ms. Palin is running for NUMBER TWO!!! NOT NUMBER ONE, and she has years of EXECUTIVE experience.
It is very telling that many willingly overlook Mrs. Palin’s actual executive experience to cite Obama’s “experience” as a STUDENT and TEACHER as being more relevant.
Laughable if not so crazed.

Not only won’t The One win ANY of those red states he was courting via caususes in the primaries, he is down to a 3 point lead in New Jersey and falling fast in NY. Obama and Biden are both from middle class backgrounds. Biden commutes on public transportation to DC from Delaware every day and has the second lowest net worth of any senator. He drives a pickup.
Obama is pretty well off now because of the success of his two books.
Obama graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard Law School. Law schools use blind grading – the professors never know whose tests they are grading and can’t boost someone’s grade for affirmative action or any other reason.
Obama was elected president of the Harvard Law review. It is extremely prestigious to get on the law review period.
If Obama and Biden are “elites” it certainly isn’t because it was handed to them. They both came from very modest backgrounds and managed to make it on their own.
McCain’s father and grandfather were both 4 star admirals. McCain got into the Naval Academy because of those connections – and graduated fifth from the bottom of his class out of over 600.
McCain got to fly fighter planes even though that is extremely competitive. He crashed FIVE planes but was permitted to continue to fly.
Who exactly is the “elite” here?

why would we want a regular guy/gal in the white house? We elected W. because he seemed more fun than that intelligent Gore. Look where that got us! Let’s try for better this time.

As an old lady who has had the privilege of voting for a long time I wish to make a statement about which party has made me a rich woman. Neither one. I’m still not rich and still working and hope to till I just can’t any longer. I want to take care of myself and not rely on government to take care of me.
I’ve read all the messages on here and other places on the websites and it seems to me that the lefties are the most intolerant, nasty, vile messages of all. Speaks well of your “classy” comments about anyone else.
I lost my job of many years while Billy Boy was in office. I really don’t blame him or the Dems. Just business as usual for politians and power people. But I started my own business at the age of 60 with no help from government handouts or loans, unlike many of the minorities or foreigners who come here and get grants and loans and learn how to manipulate the system to keep it going and not pay taxes. I have talked to several owners of small businesses that admit to doing that and getting away with it. I had to take out a personal loan on my home property to get started. I now have been in business for 13 years and like it.
As for Obama, it seems no one is paying attention to much of what he says in his interviews closely. On the George Stephonofolus (sorry for the spelling on that) he was talking about his Muslim faith and wondered why it was questioned. Then George had to remind him he was Christian. He had earlier in another interview said about 57 states. Then he said just last week what he would do (can’t remember what) when he was Prime Minister. He doesn’t honor the flag, the servicemen, or our country. That all seems to just get swept under the rug and they just go on and on about Sarah’s parenting, etc. ad naseum. Stupid, insipid stuff since they have such little else to pin on her or McCain. I don’t agree with all his plans or policies, but then when did any Presidental candidate every follow through on all their promises? It takes more than any President to get things done and as long as we have no co-operation from the “others” (Dems), we will continue to be bogged down and not get much done. Like Nancy Pelosi and her “groupies” and how they shut down Congress a few weeks ago. Arrogant and uncaring of the people they are supposed to be serving. Like that piece of trash Ted Kennedy, the murderer that keeps on giving. OK, granny has got to get back to work now since she borrowed to make a job for herself and her family and stay off of welfare rolls. Listen to some people talking in small groups and not at speaches and hear what they are expecting from Obama. Brother goin to take care of us now good. I’ve heard it personally.

Wow! Just what we need in higher office (sarcasm!) – ANOTHER vindictive, under-educated, unqualified, religious radical nut. As if Bush hasn’t been enough, Todd Palin thinks his wife is “destined” for higher office – WHAT A JOKE!!!

Debbie if you really looked you would find that the Obama policy on taxes gives a much greater amount of tax reliefe tahn does the McCain camp Open your eyes and look at both sides .Everyone in the US needs tocheck out both sides. We all know McCains plans help mostly thr rich and give a very small amount of help to the under employed, just because they are not wealthy does not mean they don’t work just as hard if not more so than others.People go to fact check and see for your selves. They show both sidesand after reading that you can still honestly think McCain is good for our country God help us all

Another softball interview. He should have been asked about his role in government and it looks like it could be as much or more than Lynn Cheney’s and also the full story about his involvement in the Alaska Independence Party.

Steven – I just HAVE to reply to your preposterous post. Were you really serious? Let me correct you.
International Accomplishments – the truth:
*Pres. Bush abided by the original U.N. resolution 687. This forced Iraq to comply with the Oil for Food and to provide all information on the WMD’s which they did NOT. This also enacted the no-fly zone.
* This U.N. resolution allowed ANY nation to go in if Iraq did NOT comply that they could take him out.Pres. Clinton attacked Iraq 3 times in the 1990′s stating what a threat Saddam was to the U.S. and could NOT keep WMD’s
* Why should the POTUS recognize the world court? The ONLY court he should recognize is the U.S. Supreme Ct.!
* I can’t see this President not allowing a Red Cross rep to see U.S.prisoners of war.
* To what are you talking about specifically? If it is about torture of al queda operative to prevent another attack, then I’ve got no problem with that! They do NOT belong to any country which is not included by the Geneva Convention.
* We are the most “resented” country in the world because the Russians, Europeans, Asian and Middle East countries think of us as a threat and want us to go down a few pegs. I REALLY don’t care what they THINK! Europe hates us because we are a republic and not copied their socialistic views.
* President Bush has assured more world peace than his predessor. During the clinton Presidency, we were attacked 5 times and we did nothing. Why would the President care about what Europeans think? He doesn’t walk and sing their tune, nor should he. We have a far better economy than ANY European country.
* Instead of making deals with the U.S. and stabbing them in the back with the Clinton Adm. The lies that were accepted with Madeline Allbright are no longer accepted by this admistration. S. Korea can’t B.S. their way anymore.
* The reason why the US was ousted off the Human Rights Commission was because of grudges mainly. This was pre -9/11 because Bush would not sign on the kyoto treaty. Pure political bias. They turn around and give Syria and Sudan a seat, PLEASE!!!!!!
—————————————
* Pres. Bush had to deal with a recession and 9/11 when he came into office. I think over 11 million new jobs have been added. GDP has risen 3% per year since Bush took office. Personal income has grew 9% in the first 6 years under Bush.
* In the last year of Clinton’s Presidnecy, the stock martket declined 8%. The last 4 fiscal quarters under Clnton, showed declining GDP growth rates at 4.8%,3.5%, 2.4% and 1.9%.
* The balanced budget was from the 1994 republican led congress by Newt Gingritch. After a 50 year reign, the republicans were in charge.
* The cost of the wars in Iraq and Afgahnistan saw only a slight increase in the defense budget to 4.1% of GDP in 2006 from 3.8% in 1995.
*The U.S. Census Bureau reports that 87.4% of Americans were covered by health insurance in 2007, an increase of 3.6 million over 2006.
* Barak Obama and Joe Biden voted for the biggest tax increase in US history affecting people who earn down to $42,000 a year in income.
*The biggest drop of the stock martket in the history of the U.S. isn’t NOW. Ever heard of the Great Depression?
* The US spends the highest amount per capita($6,657 in 2005) on health care, more than double than in Britain. But because of the private funding (55% of the total) the burden of the taxpayer is (91% of GDP) is kept to similar levels as France and Germany.
* Why should the US taxpayer be responsible for paying for extended unemployment benefits for out-of-work Americans? Where is it IN the Constitution?
*Pres. Bush is NOT reposnible for the high gas prices. Congress and Pres. Bill Clinton are. Clinton vetoed ANWAR in 1995. The enviromentalists sue any oil company that wants to drill on leases from the gov’t. The dems in Congress passed high gas taxes making the federal gov’t the top revenue maker out of gas. (they earn $1,400 a minute and are taxed $4,000 a minute). Since Pelosi became House speaker, gas prices have risen.
* The national reserves are NOT supposed to be used when prices are high. They are ONLY to be used when there is an emergency such as a natural disaster or we are attacked, etc.
* In 2005, Senator McCain proposed a bill that would stop the mortgage/banking mess that we have now. It was not passed. Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac, and Countrywide CEO’s are all good business friends with democratic congresmen.
*Bad loans were made to people because they were pressured by congress so they would NOT be penalized.
* Gas and food are more expensive because of Congress mandating ethanol(which doesn’t work) and not allowing leaded gas (which makes cars run better).
*Why would I want a community organizer who worked for a company that was charged with voter fraud and was mentored by a noted communist?
*If Bush cut health care benefits for veterans, which I doubt, there must have been good reason, called add ons like pork!

MOLLY –McCain/Palin – have EARNED my VOTE – and MILLIONS of Americans feel the same way. Obama is an Arrogant, Radical FRAUD – he will never be elected.
Really??? What is it about McCain’s Policys that you like…I have asked several people who are voting for McCain to tell me which policy are you voting for….If you took Personality out of it…And you looked at just the policy..Are you for the privatizing Social Security, School Choice, Do you get your health insurance through your company and you want that benefit taxed? Do you make more than 250,000 dollars and you don’t want to get a tax cut. Are you pro-child and not just pro-life…Are you for more wars and less diplomacy…What is it about McCain that you like besides he is a nice guy….

I’ve never seen a Vice President nominee’s spouse get so much attention. What’s up with this?

America is in big trouble when the choices that inevitably will produce a new leader in this country have been slimmed to these 2 idiots.
Dem/Rep..Who really gives a rats @ss.
A media system that is funded by major oil companies to help to lube the circus like atmosphere.
Still the unnecessary central bank exists, charging “necessary” interest rates that our tax money just begins to cover. Always the pork making the fat cats fatter in this ridiculous 2 party monopoly.
It will never change.
Hail Caesar!!
Welcome to the new Rome.
Watch as history repeats itself & the great empire crumbles to the earth.

Obama = Constitutional Lawyer = ONE BIG JOKE!
This is a true oxymoron! Wake up and stop drinking the Obama Kool Aid. Why does Mr. Obama think that our Supreme Court Judges should make their decisions based on their personal opinions/feelings rather than what the constitution actually says? (Look it up)
LINDSAY…I bet that you are glad that your momma didn’t excercise her right of choice and choose not to give birth to you!
I am sick of your liberal propoganda! I am sick of how you get on these blogs and make these stupid posts about “US DUMB AMERICANS”! Liberals act like they run this country and that their views and opinions are the only ones that matter!
Here is a wake up call for you…You are not the majority in this GREAT Nation! We do not have to accept what YOU SAY as the gospel! We do have a brain and WE CAN make RATIONAL decisions for ourselves!
By the way, many good and brave Americans have given their lives in order for you to have the freedom to speak your mind. You need to remember that the next time you want to get on a blog to criticize and ridicule someone for believing in God, the right to keep and bear arms, and an unborn child’s right to life (yes, it is a living being with a soul).
As for me (and this is just my opinion)…I will not cast a vote for any one who will: 1) not wear a flag pin (because it is not politically correct), 2) not place his hand over his heart and say the pledge to the flag (or during the National Anthem), or appologize for our country when addressing a foreign nation!
I really don’t care about anything you Hollywood actors or celebrities have to say. Who appointed you the “wise and all-knowing” mentors of the universe. It is truely shamefull how you throw stones when living in glass houses. Wake up! Half of you don’t even have control of your own lives. Why would I listen to ANYTHING you have to say?
I may just be an uneducated, redneck, Bible-thumping, Southern gun owner, but I can tell you this…I love GOD, MY FAMILY, AND THE USA. I am proud of our country!
Like it or not, you can spout your liberal propoganda, you can sit in your liberal circles, you can pat each other on the back about your screwed up beliefs and tell each other how you are going to CHANGE America, but I can tell you this….You will never change the true will of the silent majority of this GREAT NATION! GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Think about this when you think about Obama’s Tax Plan…..
The Tax System – Explained With Beer
Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that’s what they decided to do.
The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. “Since you are all such good customers,” he said, “I’m going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20.”Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.
The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men – the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his ‘fair share?’
They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody’s share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man’s bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.
And so:
The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 ( 25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 ( 22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).
Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.
“I only got a dollar out of the $20,”declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man,” but he got $10!”
“Yeah, that’s right,” exclaimed the fifth man. “I only saved a dollar, too. It’s unfair that he got ten times more than I!”
“That’s true!!” shouted the seventh man. “Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!”
“Wait a minute,” yelled the first four men in unison. “We didn’t get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!”
The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.
The next night the tenth man didn’t show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn’t have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!
And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

Hey folks, short term community organizer…or uh, senator for 153 days from a corrupt political background, doesn’t believe in the right to keep and bear arms..or did he change his mind on that too?…says he is religious but hasn’t decided on which one, very charismatic and appeals to liberals, uses global warming to push HIS agenda, hates oil companies or any one who becomes wealthy (except himself), hates capitalism and believes if you are a successsful person with money you need to take care of others who sit on their butts all day and cry “Where is the government, I need some cheese”, (see post above about taxing the wealthy), “” “” “”, has changed his opinion on every position he has ever had as long as it benefits his agenda, appeals to some, talks a good game, feels that he is “Elite” and above others, remind you of anyone? Haven’t we learned from having a Democratic Congress?
A.) Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would be President
B.) If you liked Jimmy Carter, you’d LOVE OBAMA.
C.) Empty Suit
D.) What’s the difference between Obama and Karl Marx
E.) Nothing!
