Barack ‘Isotoner’ Obama to Take Off His Third or Fourth Pair of Gloves and Get Tough
Like any number of Democratic candidates before him — Mike Dukakis, Al Gore, John Kerry — Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., is once again declaring that he is going to take off the gloves and fight back against attacks from the Republican Party.
This is what you’re going to hear from his campaign today, anyway, which is unveiling two new TV ads, including this attack ad against Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
But just so you know — this is, by my count, the 4th time Obama’s campaign has officially or unofficially made such a declaration that Obama will "take off the gloves" and fight back.
That’s a lot of pairs of gloves.
The Isotoner campaign, one might say.
Another part of today’s claim is that the Democrat is going to aggressively claim the "change" mantle.
As part of this — the staggeringly fresh assertion that McCain has voted with President Bush 90 percent of the time, a factoid Obama has only made 7,000 times before.
Today will also be, per the Obama campaign, the first day of the home stretch. This will be, to my count, at least the second time the Obama campaign has decreed such a new beginning, perhaps even the third.
Obama campaign manager David Plouffe lays this all out in a memo called "Heading into the Final Stretch" today, saying that "Obama said earlier this week ‘enough is enough.’ This election is too important and the challenges too big to spend the next 54 days talking about trivial non-issues. Today is the first day of the rest of the campaign."
Continues Plouffe, "We will respond with speed and ferocity to John McCain’s attacks and we will take the fight to him, but we will do it on the big issues that matter to the American people. We will not allow John McCain and his band of Karl Rove disciples to make this big election about small things."

Obama pledged to accept public financing while campaigning but after selected as the nominee stated he would not accept public financing. All reports indicated that he had mega bucks flowing in. So why does the Chicago Tribune report the story about the Obama campaign cannot afford a few trinkets to the Girl Scouts? John McCain’s campaign stayed with his pledge, and took the public financing, which left him at a disadvantage but gave the girl scouts some trinkets as requested. Obama’s campaign wants to CHARGE for the trinkets (bumper stickers $3.00 each, yard signs $8.00 each). Yes, the Girl Scouts are too young to cast their votes for Obama, so throw them under the bus? Real changes we can count on!

Taking off the gloves and fighting is where you might win or you might lose. It seems to me that Obama has made his share of smears in a very clever, smarmey way that is barely detectable but there none the less. All of us would prefer to hear the issues from both candidates, not this nonsense. Mr. Pluff, you may send Mccain home beaten and defeated but then again……..
if you need more evidence you need look no further than the small town Mayor jabs and the idiotic attacks on McCains VP, her family or all the other made up “discoveries” that your henchmen have “uncovered”. I do beleive I would be careful here.

The only reason McCain drags his wife around with him to every campaign stop is that she gives the impression that he is alive. This is supposed to convince people that he is younger than he really is. Besides, Michelle is home taking care of their two young children.

The comment from Obama’s book that is bothersome.
Obama’s statement page 261 of The Audacity of Hope, in which Barack Obama spoke of the importance of not allowing inflamed public opinion to result in innocent members of immigrant groups being stripped of their rights, everyone agrees with.
The exact statement below becomes bothersome to many people because he indicates that “should the political winds shift in an ugly direction, he would stand with them”…meaning the immigrant groups, not America. What the American people want to hear from an American President that he will do everything possible to bring unrest to resolve but stand with America. But to indicate that you would turn your back on America and stand with any fraction (Muslim, Arab, Pakistani and so forth) seems out of context for an American President.
Obama’s exact statement “In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific reassurances that their citizenship really means something that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction”.

Obama ran on his “change” personality, his celebrity, his newness.
People more and more see Obama is a do-nothing cronyist divider, not a uniter; is a has-been pop political celebrity and is becoming a seen-too-many times, nothing new there Washington insider.
He changes is positions on issues faster than Biden speaks another gaffe and his choice for Vice-President was very weak, even Biden, his choice for Vice-Preisdent, admits it.

True, 911 happened on President Bush’s watch – just short of 9 months into his presidency. But the reality is all the planning the movement of terrorists into this country happened on Clinton’s watch, or lack thereof. Not to mention the fact that the CIA had Osama Bin Laden in their cosshairs three times and all three times Clinton Said “no.” This was a perfectly planned attack to take place under a new presidency, whether a republican or democrat. The previous presidency is to blame for its lack of vigilance and its dallying instead of serving. We don’t need another like him.

I have personally come to the conclusion that people are going to have to be an educated consumer because you can’t believe many of the statement coming from the media and candidates tend to put their spin on things. I’m tried of people insulting my intelligence by stating lies that can be easy checked just by clicking onto Google. To that end, I have weighed the policies of the Bush administration and what each candidate has offered in the way of change. (Economically & politically) I have determined that I want a government who is concerned about ME! (THE MIDDLE CLASS) I know we need big business, but big business also needs ME! I am working harder and seeing less of my money. So, if my funds are limited how can I buy their goods and services? I’m tried of hearing that the tax structure should benefit big business while the government and industry suck the life out of ME. I m voting for a ticket who I believe will work for ME!
Obama & Biden

Who had a chance to hit OBL with a missile but when the missile was fired and enroute who called the Pakistan Government and warned them? How many attacks on the US around the world, prior to 911, and how many afterwards? Who made changes to Fannie and Fredie Mac that allowed the swindle of American taxpayers?

I wanted to respond to Flordia Voter. I feel you misinterpreted the quote in Obama’s book. He is saying not that he is in support of radical extremists, but instead he is going to stand by innocent American citizens if the political atmosphere in this country becomes hateful. Much like it was when all Japanese immigrants were placed in enternment camps just because they immigrated here from Japan. They had done nothing wrong and were being punished because they happened to be born in Japan. They were U.S. citizens. Obama is saying that if the politicians of today want to treat U.S. citizens unfairly because of their race, country of origin or religion he is going to stand up for them. That is obviously the side of right. If you or anybody else can not see that I advise you to take a look in the mirror and think about what it would feel like if your race or relgion were being prosecuted, just because a group of extrmists with a similar religion did soemthing crazy! Please let go of your fear and think rationally. You are much more likely to get killed in a car accident then by a religious extremist.

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama tried to direct more than $3 million in taxpayer funds to a Chicago museum whose chairman is one of the Illinois senator’s largest campaign fundraisers.
Mr. Obama has twice since fiscal 2006 sought to have taxpayers foot the bill for a new theater projector and other equipment at the Adler Planetarium on the Lake Michigan waterfront. Neither of the requests, which totaled $3.3 million, was approved by Congress, the museum said.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that most of the negative comments about Obama are from people who cannot write a coherent sentence that is gramatically correct. McCain/Palin ads are vicious, mud-slinging propoganda and you want to talk about Obama not voicing issues, please… There is not one thing that has come from the McSame camp that is about the issues. McSame has voted with Bush 90% of the time, so where do you think the change is going to come from? It would be nice if some of you would use what little brain power you have to look past the fear and rhetoric that they pass off as fact and really look at the state of this country and both McCain’s and Palin’s records. The oil companies are dancing in the aisles hoping for this pair to get in, so they can keep gouging us at the pump. I for one, do not want someone in the White House who thinks that anyone earning under $5M a year is middle class and given your poorly written comments, I suspect you are nowhere close to earning that amount of money. Get a clue!

Obama’s ad works. McCain doesn’t even use e-mail. The contrast of technology since 1980 when John McCain first came to Washington points out that McCain is the insider. You don’t become Mr. Change less then 54 days before the election. By now we all know he has seven house but lives in online 4. Do the 4 houses have computers online?
Schmit and Rove campaign ads scare everyone because they are branding the Media are “Piranhas!”, Democrats are “Wolves” and talented Artists are just lite “Celebrities” without talent and their voice doesn’t count. Also Schmit and Rove attempt to play the victim when ever the Democrat’s response. This will be the election that will be studied by historians. How did they do it? They took out everyone with negative ads and then created their own celebrity who is running on a open playing field now.
Ads do play an important role, but Voters what a more complete picture, which interviews on the mainstream media shows give. Now a artist Matt Damon said something that a lot of voters are thinking we will never get to now the real Palin in the next 53 days no matter how much Scmidt and Rove spin. Will Scmidt and Rove allow Palin to do all the mainstream shows? Will McCain talk to the McCain soon? Or Schmidt and Rove going to sit on their lead for now?

Palin, doesn’t know what the Bush doctrine is, doesn’t know that McCain is against going into and striking targets in Pakistan and has been highly critical of Obama for saying it, meanwhile Bush has decided it ok to strike inside of Pakistan something Obama said we should be doing. This latest Obama ad is a bit disappointing – I can understand why they feel the need to retaliate, but I’d prefer it if they kept completely to the high ground and had at least kept pushing their own policies – but at least it’s nowhere near as bad as the McCain campaign’s last few ads. It’s true for one thing.
On separate note: Ann, that quote refers to immigrant AMERICANS. It’s Americans he’s talking about. Do you think all Americans, regardless of their origin, should be free from persecution? Because if you do, you agree with Obama.

You guys are getting all excited as if anybody believed Palin would be able to answer every question on foreign policy. NEWSFLASH!!! She is a Governor of Alaska, not a member of the Bush administration. Palin does however have the rest of the package, and she will be briefed and schooled on foreign policy each day. Obama on the other hand has no foreign policy experience, nor does he have the executive experience. He has never made decisions that affect a city or state, never balanced a budget, never weilded veto power. But he has sure secured about a billlion dollars in earmarks in his short tenure as a jr senator. HIs wifes hospital, and fathers plegers radical left church were just a couple of the very questionable earmarks he asked for. Then there is the 14,000,000 taxpayer dollars he helped now convicted Rezko secure for a doomed to fail project. I certainly do not want Obama making decisions that affect my life. No way Nobama.

Obama’s insistence that he won’t get down in the gutter, like so many of his promises, was broken. This “transformational” candidate, who has voted with his party more than McCain has voted with his, shows again that he is a product of Chicago politics.
The only reason he’s popular, is that he is promising the biggest free ride in our history, in promising free healthcare, childcare, and massive government entitlement programs.
ALL of our founding fathers believed in smaller government, which Obama wants to radically enlarge, to the tune of $864 billion dollars.
How can Dems whine about Bush’s deficit, and Social Security, when their candidate has said he outright can’t balance the budget?

Badger: “THEY DONT SPEAK ARABIC IN AFGHANISTAN, BARACK!”
Going back a bit there aren’t we? Anyway, actually, Arabic is spoken in Afghanistan – it’s not by any stretch an official language, but there are numerous Arabic speakers (google ‘afghan-arabs’ for some insight into that). The bottom line is, there actually is a need for Arabic translators in Afghanistan.
But that’s not to say there’s a shortage of Arabic translators due to them being deployed in Iraq though. As far as I could gather from reports and comments at the time, there are enough specifically Arabic translators there. However, the wider point that Iraq is a drain on resources (including, bearing in mind that they tend to be multi-lingual, translators in general, rather than specifically Arabic) from Afghanistan was valid.
I’m sorry, that probably messes up your yelling. You can ignore the facts and just go back to shouting if you like, I won’t stop you. ;-)

how much more “taking off the gloves” can you get after you’ve accused a guy 4 times of being a racist, questioned the man’s honor, questioned Palin’s parenting or devotion to her family (gutman).
OOohhh McCain vote with Bush 90% of the time. Well they’re republicans. Obama has voted the democrat line 96% of the time. Yet where is his McCain-Lieberman, his McCain-Feingold, his McCain amendment (aka DTA), his advocating of a successful Iraq strategy against his party?
What are they going to do, go after McCain’s temperament? Good luck with that as there’s video of Obama losing his cool anytime someone asks him a hard question. I don’t think video exists of McCain’s supposed temperament and most people who were the victims (including Bob Kerrey) say it serves its purpose and one such example was McCain fighting for the MLK holiday in Arizona.

Hey Obamites, Is this REALLY a unified party?
HILLARY CLINTON:I know Senator McCain has a lifetime of experience he will bring to the White House. And Senator Obama has a speech he gave in 2002.
BILL CLINTON:This whole thing is the biggest fairy tale I’ve ever seen,”
“I think that they played the race card on me. And we now know, from memos from the campaign and everything that they planned to do it all along,” Bill Clinton said in a telephone interview with WHYY’s Susan Phillips. “I was stating a fact, and it’s still a fact.”
SEN. BIDEN: John McCain is a personal friend, a great friend and I would be honored to run with or against John McCain.
SEN BIDEN: Hillary may have been a better choice than me

Michigan Voter
Your response was that I misinterpreted the quote in Obama’s book. This is a problem with almost all of Obama’s policies and conversations…misinterpreted, misunderstood, or just plain not clear. In the book, page 261 he does NOT say American citizens…you just threw in the words “American Citizens”, just like he does not say Muslims as others are throwing in. He says “should the political winds shift in an ugly direction, he would stand with them” meaning any distinct racial group in America (Muslim, Arab, Pakistani and so forth) because of unfair racial treatment. What American’s want to hear is that their American President will place “America First” not stand with a secular racial group, and their President will resolve the unrest and racial problems as our leader. We all already know that unfair racial treatment needs to be defused and made safe for all— but Michigan Voter; the important words missing are “standing by America” because political winds will change all the time that is a fact of life. If elected, Obama’s job will not be that of a community organizer anymore, he will not be able to just stand with one group of people because they might be receiving some false resentment from some of the American people. America is mostly full of level headed people that care about their country and unfair racial treatment. We’ve come a long way from the days of slavery. If elected President Obama’s job is to represent ALL THE PEOPLE of the United States, not a handful of racial groups. His job is to bring America together as a whole to solve these problems, not to join the

Don’t be naive dude. It’s politics and politicians trying to get elected.
Yes, we’re united. To be fair, you should ask Bill, Hillary and Biden.
Regarding Biden’s comment, have you ever heard of modesty? Red meat folks like yourself wouldn’t get what he was doing with that comment, but somewhere an on the fence single mom struggling will. he’s contrasting himself with his

Obama is out of touch with fiscal reality. His massive give aways may get him elected but in the process will kill the golden goose. History his taught us…
Career politicians promote envy and demonize groups of people. It started with the first income tax. America’s first income tax was sold to the citizens as a temporary necessity, a wartime emergency. As such, it contained a date for its own termination. As is often the case in such matters, Congress managed to extend it a few years longer, but it finally did expire in 1872. By this time, however, the theories of Karl Marx were sweeping through the intellectual and educational institutions of America, and the populists were capturing political power. Politicians dreamed longingly of a permanent income tax because of the bountiful stream of revenue [power] that would flow from it. But the masses also were fascinated with the progressive – or “graduated” – feature because it gave expression to their envy of the rich and salved their sense of hurt over high protective tariffs. Senator William Peffer of Kansas expressed this prevailing mood:
“Wealth is accumulated in New York, and not because those men are more industrious than we are, not because they are wiser and better, but because they trade, because they buy and sell, because they deal in usury [exorbitant rate of interest], because they reap in what they have never earned, because they take in and live off what other men earn…. The West and the South have made you people rich.”
Career politicians like Obama will say and do anything to increase power.

He’s making the point of how incredibly out of touch McCain/Bush is. He can’t send an email? My 5 year old daughter can boot up the ol’ Mac, open her account, and send an email to her grandmother.
I think it’s an effective line of attack. The old man is out of touch.
Further evidence of the add’s effectiveness, it has your hackles up.
It’s a battle for the daily news cycle, and Obama and Ploufe are hip to this game.

Sen Barack Obama
i look forward to you winning the Nov elections. from now on, you must emphaise to the American public that this election is about Issues and how America should be managed moving forward. it is not about personalities..
and you should reiterate that the Issues are.. how to restore respect for America in the eyes of not only true blue Americans but also in the eyes of the world..and this will be done by..1. ending the wars in Iraq (and Afghanistan) responsibly because they were fought for invalid reasons and because the money wasted there can be used to rebuild the infrastructure, create jobs, enhance education and healthcare etc at home..2. being more even handled when in comes to dealing with the Israeli-Palestinian problem..
if you really want to take off your gloves..then this is what i recommend you say forcefully..
McCain is still living in the past, he ‘lost’ the fight in Vietnam and is still trying to ‘win’, that’s why he keep talking about winning in Iraq..and i suspect that he wont be able to, so he might crazily find other avenues to win by starting another war..
McCain accuse you of wanting to win the election at the expense of victory in Iraq..well, tell him that you there is no victory to be won in Iraq, and no further American lives should be sacrificed for no good purpose..

The DNP, under the leadership of Mean Dean, a failed presidential hopeful, decided it was so important for states to vote in a peculiar order, that Fla. & Mich. voters were denied a voice in selecting the nominee for president! How many voters are in New Hampshire and Iowa vs Mich. & Fla.? Then Obama displays his judgement by going along with the good ole BOYS, the establishment, where is the CHANGE there?
Obama was trying so hard to be ‘black’ that he joined a very, very, large church, and tried to explain away the pastor’s extream expressions, only to later flip-flop on his decision, when the heat got to much. How will he stand up to Venezuela, Iran. Russia, N. Korea, the Republicans?
Senators Kennedy, Kerry, McGovern (retired), Biden, and Edwards, all failed presidential candidates, came out very early for a junior Senator and against Senator Clinton, who at least earned her stripes. How does Obama define CHANGE?
When the Democrats ask Palin what she will do about foreign policy if she is trust into the presidency….
Palin may say that she will select a very, very, experienced senator as VP.What are you going to say to that DUMMIES?
Now, DNP, your king is in jeopardy, you can streatch this game out, or just save your money for 2012–’cause you done shot yo’sef in da foot!
Any one out there UPSIDE-DOWN on a car loan? Well, you can understand where the democratic ticket is.

That’s not entirely accurate. In the ‘exact statement’ you yourself posted earlier, he says ‘my meetings with Arab and Pakistani *Americans*’, and ‘they need specific reassurances that their *citizenship* means something’. These are American citizens he’s talking about.
He’s not talking about standing with them against America – they ARE America. He’s talking about standing against them in the face of fear and persecution.

Obama is not computer literate, so this attack ad is risky. Obama told us he wrote his speech out ‘long-hand’ in his hotel room, and can’t type. If he had any degree of computer literacy, he would not write a 5000 word speech in long-hand. Voters will put two and two together, we are not as stupid as he thinks. What counts is experience, voting record, and results – in all these departments – McCain/Palin have better qualifications.

We already know that Obama is a typical politician (even though Rev. Wright, his mentor and anti-American pastor for twenty years, also confirmed it for us). We knew it too through the way he treated and snubbed Hillary Clinton, the most qualified democratic candidate since 1992.
As a Hillary supporter, it hurts me to see a swindler like Obama stealing the nomination and getting ready to hand the victory to the Republicans. Not only that, it is so sad also that so many of us will be either voting for McCain or not Vote at all.
Barack Huseein Obama will never be qualified to become the president of this great nation. Period. I’d rather vote for a Republican who is a true American and a war hero like John McCain.
Obama’s anti-American and shady relationships and associations (Rev.Wright, Ayers, Rezko, Michelle..to name a few) scare me just like Osama/Obama does.
The Democratic Party and its leaders imposed Barack Husein Obama on us and come Novemeber, they will pay the price for depriving us a Hillary Clinton victory over the Republicans. Shame on them! Unfortunately, I will fully support and vote for McCain/Palin in 2008. And will look forward to Hillary in 2012.
Finally, unlike Barack Huessein Obama’s and his pastor’s hateful sentiments..God bless America!

Just a few thoughts about the economy.
1 You can’t tax business, big or otherwise. All you do is drive up the price of whatever they produce so you end up taxing the consumer.
2 For all of you that want big tax increases on the “rich” remember that a large portion of the “rich” are small business owners that produce most of the jobs in this country. Raise their taxes and the raise their prices or go out of business.
3 This means that all this tax the “rich” accomplishes is raise the cost of living on the poor and middle class.
At the same time jobs are fewer because businesses large and small have had to restructure because the cost of doing business (taxes) has gone up. The easiest place to cut cost is labor.
4 Taxing big oil is even worse. It directly drives the cost of travel and transport as well as the cost of raw materials for many industries. It impacts the middle class in several ways-the cost of travel goes up immediately, the cost of the transport of goods goes up (higher prices) and business pays more for raw materials made from oil (everything from plastics to medicines to fertilizer)
Bottom line everybody pays taxes, some directly and some indirectly.
Want the economy to get better? Lower the price of oil. (Find more, price goes down)
I’m just a hillbilly from the mountains so what do I know? If I can see these things why can’t anyone else?
I know this will cause a lot of howling that I don’t know what I’m talking about. Who knows maybe it’s true.

Obama can’t win with the media. If he’s too soft, he’ll be swiftboated like Kerry. If he comes on strong, he’s a negative campaigner. GEEEEZ.
Let me share my thoughts on this, mostly about the recent flap over women, aka the lipstick comment. Gov Palin can use a lipstick reference and it’s ok. Obama uses a very commonly used one, I’ve heard said by both men AND women, and suddenly it’s sexist. Well, I have to agree with the original meaning of the phrase, McCain-Palin are the same old thing, just dressed up a bit.
The past 8 years have been the most unbelievably corrupt in modern history. There were/are so many scandals that we are just overwhelmed. And the press is sleeping so much that they give it all a pass. McCain has capitalized on, then distanced himself from his relationship with Bush. Four years ago, I could have actually voted for McCain. That is to say, next to Bush, he (anybody!) looked good. But, in the past 4 years, he has sold his soul repeatedly to insure his nomination. And the final sale of his soul was his choice of Palin. This time he was pandering to women, and some bought it. They were truly “swift boated”.
For me, McCain’s true colors can be summarized in a few choice “Kodak moments”. One is his closeness with Phil Gramm. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Gramm become the next treasury secretary. Wasn’t Gramm a key author of the “Enron provision”, cleverly passed while the country was focused on the Supreme Court’s settling of the 2000 election?? The provisions of that bill, passed under the radar, set the stage for the Enron debacle. In addition, wasn’t Gramm one of the key backers of deregulation fueling our current housing crisis? Oh, but that’s right, we’re just a “nation of winers”. (Let them eat cake; and remember, McCain doesn’t even know how many houses he owns!!) And what about McCain’s desire to privatize social security, or perhaps everything?? We already are well along in privatization of the military, aka Blackwater. Why not continue? I guess “real women” don’t need homes or pensions.
Speaking of the military and McCain, what about another Kodak moment of his rendition of “bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran”? (Oh, was that a joke? Some things are not funny. Like war, esp for the countries we’re invading.) For such a supporter of women as McCain, doesn’t he realize that innocent women and children are most often the ones killed, injured, maimed when you “bomb, bomb” a country, any country? And, are you aware that the lesson McCain learned from Vietnam was quite different from that of history, that is, that we should not have invaded Vietnam? Instead, McCain learned from his Vietnam experience that we could have won that war if we only had enough fire power. I do think if McCain had his way, we would actually be in a war, any war, “for 100 years”. (Does anyone mention the fact that war is the ultimate anti-woman, anti-family act? And that this current conflict has set the status of women in the Middle East back about 100+ years? But then again, I haven’t seen to many middle eastern women struggling for freedom interviewed by the media.) How can anyone support someone who will continue this conflict? Does Palin’s aiming of a gun make it easier to support conflicts that hurt women most?
There are two things that will take this country down, certainly economically, 1) being in bed with corporate America and 2) continued war. John McCain has surrounded himself with advisors who are ex-corporate lobbyists. And his wife, noting that when tough decisions are made, is the only one in the room with him, has literally inherited a corporation. And, of course, we know he is very pro-military. And, with pro-military Palin by is side, that’s not likely to end. The only difference will be, according to Palin, God is on the side of the USA. (Right from Palin’s address to her former church in Alaska; very unsettling; you want to talk about “inappropriate religious comments”, this would be it.) A think a fundamentalist is a fundamentalist is a fundamentalist. And it’s all bad when it comes to leaders running a country. Again, just look to the Middle East for examples. Do we really need such a leader here?
And look at more examples of Palin’s thinking. She has asked a librarian about banning books. Why would anyone ask such a question unless one was contemplating it? And, she supposedly does not believe in global warming, although we have many pathetic photos of polar bears struggling to survive on her very doorstep. I thought after Bush’s idiotic clinging to that scientifically disputed belief (that there is no such thing as global warming), we would not find another prominent politician with that view!!! (As Ronald Regan would say, “there you go again!”) And what about “drill, baby, drill” in the face of FACTS that additional oil drilling WILL NOT HELP LOWER ENERGY PRICES, will NOT solve our energy crisis, and will actually delay, distract, deter this country’s emphasis on finding alternatives. AND will possibly 1) spoil natural, currently unspoiled areas and/or 2) result in a huge land grab of public lands by corporations.
Finally, let’s look at the hypocrisy of her party’s “family values”. Remember, they really stole that show. They are quick to judge others, especially “liberal Democrats” of losing their moral compasses. So, here we have a candidate for the second highest office in the land who has an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter. But, instead of causing negative criticism from this moral party, it’s suddenly ok to be a teen and pregnant. (Movie stars do it and now a very visible political candidate’s daughter does it, so it must be ok!!) This is a significant problem for our country, and instead of addressing the short term and long term issues associated with it, the Palins opted to “respect” their daughter’s “decision” to keep the baby and marry the baby’s father. Since when does a teenager living under her parents’ roof with poor judgment and no money get to “decide” what to do? How about adoption and then college? Would that be an option? Gov Palin had the perfect (national) stage on which to address the problems associated with teenage pregnancy, but she lacked the courage to do so. That might have put a damper on her debut, so she did what her party is known for, stifling the unpleasantness, and putting on an attractive picture for everyone to see. How does this advance the cause of women, especially young woman who do not have the fortune to be born a McCain or Palin and who really will face serious issues because of their decisions?
As you can see, Palin as the “real deal” for women is a little more complex than the media has made it out to be. The kiddy rush to embrace Palin has done what the Republicans are again famous for, it has simplified the issues making them (forgive my expression) “black-white” for the American people who are too simple-minded to see complexities.
So, unfortunately because of swift-boated voters, we might once again have 4 more years of covering up scandals, an ill conceived and unaffordable war, deals with corporate American that will put the final nail in the coffin of the middle class, and earth destroying environmental policies designed continue our addiction to oil.
Many of us are of the age to understand the term “token”. I think John McCain picked a token woman running mate and many fell for it. Karl Rove is alive and well and is laughing all the way to the lipstick counter.

So then, one day after both campaigns impose a 9-11 hiatus and two days after Obama calls for a truce out comes a barrage of some of the most negative ads we have ever seen from the Obama Campaign and the 527 surrogates.
That’s not a head fake or misdirection, it is downright disingenuous.

the point isn’t that people have other people to do their email. the point is that he CAN’T use email. The point is that he hasn’t learned! Who doesn’t want to keep learning?? To not practice and use technology?? That’s weird. And not to be able to communicate but have others ALWAYS do it? Things can get lost in the translation! Have McCain sit with his grandkids for a day. they’ll show him how.

To answer your question..
I will never vore for an Obama/Hillary ticket. Why should Hillary, the most qualified and experienced candidate, serve as the vice-president of the shady character? Hillary won the popular vote and she shouldn’t even consider the second spot.
Also, if the Democratic party had not denied her the nomination, Hillary could have picked a better vice presidential candidate than either Obama or Biden.

This should be far more of a concern to voters
Democratic debate January 2008
BARACK OBAMA: “I ask my staff never to hand me paper until two seconds before I need it, because I will lose it. And my desk in my office doesn’t look good. I’ve got to have somebody around me who is keeping track of that stuff,” said Obama.
And they want to mock McCain and internet emails?

It’s 1982 and Barry’s on the street looking to score some blow while John McCain’s in Washington serving his country after dutifully serving for years as a U.S. Navy flight officer and 26 years later Barry still can’t fly a plane and STILL can’t land a plane on a carrier.
In 2008 Barry may no longer be on drugs but he still seems confused as to just how many states there are in the country he wants to be President of.
Cut to Obama, “I think I’ve been to almost all of the 57 states now.” Looking at his aides for help. “ 52, right?”

i am puzzled why you guys continue to harbour such unconstructivr attitudes that doesn’t hel the demo camp..
yes, you feel strongly about Hillary and so do i..but the majority has spoken (voted) and so that’s what democracy is about..
Hillary and Bill have already come out in support of the DNC nominating Barack Obama..
should you vote McCain and the GOP wins in Nov, the ones that will be really be hurt wont be Obama, it would be ordinary folks like you, who would have to suffer more years of being an American who is not respected by the world, your fellow Americans who have to fight immoral wars, your education system that does not prepare your children for life, your economy that does not provide jobs for you, your healthcare system that does not take care of you when you are sick, your leaders (McCain / Palin) who does no realize that America is slowly but surely losing its no. 1 spot in the world..Only Obama / Biden (and with Hillary / Bill playing their roles) know that and they have plans to fix that..al the best to you all..

Government?…COOL?…again? LMAO!!
BTW, here’s the more apt analogy:
The PIG is the Democrat’s 75 year history of increased spending and expansion of government programs resulting in nothing more than bloated, ineffective, wasteful bureaucracies that did little to actually help anyone (but themselves).
The LIPSTICK is Barry Hussein and the notion that he offers any CHANGE from this FAILED ideology. In fact, he openly PROMISES MORE OF THE SAME!

The Yugo lasted two months. I don’t expect Joe will last any longer that, either.

FORT WAINWRIGHT, Alaska (AP) — Vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s assertion that she believes humans play a role in climate change — made in her first major interview since joining the Republican ticket — is at odds with her previous statements. Palin said she didn’t disagree with scientists that the problem can be attributed to “man’s activities.”
“Show me where I have ever said that there’s absolute proof that nothing that man has ever conducted or engaged in has had any effect or no effect on climate change. I have not said that,” Palin told ABC News in an interview broadcast Thursday and Friday.
However, in the past Palin has said she does not believe global warming is caused by human activity. She has told the Internet news site Newsmax, “A changing environment will affect Alaska more than any other state, because of our location. … I’m not one, though, who would attribute it to being man-made.”

This is America. All of us have the right to vote for a political candidate of our choice. Me, personally, do not wish my country to become an Osama land. That’s why I will not vote for Barack Hussein Obama.
I wish Sen. Hillary Clinton was our nominee. Unfortunately, she is not. Therefore, I’ll be voting for the better candidate, John McCain. This is my choice and you should respect it. The problem is that both campaigns need to get past the same old, same old, and speak to the issues. The ad from my side released today about Obama attacking Governor Palin; well get over it RNC. Since when did Dems not call us liars? I give you the evidence of some of the posts here calling Bush and McCain liars.
As to Axelrod and the Obama campaign, they need to quit saying mayors are insignificant and belittling small town America and Americans. Prattling on and on as Mr. Tapper rightly pointed out about John McCain being like Bush is baloney. As we say in small town Mississippi, “That dawg don’t hunt”. What does hunt are statements like Obama said last night about mayors. He said mayors make sure the trees are trimmed, potholes are filled, and the garbage is picked up. I would like him to tell that to our Mayor! LOL!
And these two need to quit saying Americans are suffering. That line is getting old as well. My husband is unemployed, we have two kids getting ready to go off to college and are worried. However, we have a roof over our heads, food in the frig and know we live in America, where hope is just a job around the corner, but we just need to turn the right corner. Suffering is Haiti folks! That is real suffering. Texas after Ike is going to be suffering. We can relate to that type of suffering here in Mississippi. But as a whole “suffering” Americans are not growing on trees as compared to Somalia, Cuba, and Georgia, (that would be the country).
Instead here is a new line of thought for these two; TELL US WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO ABOUT REDUCING TAXES, DRILLING AND GROCERY COSTS. Dudes, milk is more than gas and when my husband had a job they taxed his checks at 42%. Now those are some issues you might want to discuss instead of lipstick on a pig, and he called me names, or he might call me names. Snap out of it DNC and RNC and get it together!

“Obama votes with his party 97% of the time, or present.”
And? You do realise his party isn’t the one in power, right?
If the question is “who would represent real change from the current administration”, McCain’s record of voting with his party – the one in power – is much more significant than Obama’s record of voting with his party – the one that isn’t.
If you don’t agree with Obama’s issues, that’s fine, but trying to defend an assertion that McCain doesn’t offer real change from Bush with the argument that, effectively, ‘But Obama’s a Democrat’ isn’t really going to fly.

So what was the final delegate count at the Democrat convention? The PUMAs have been trying to get that info, but last I heard they were still being stiffed by Dean et al. Ah the Democrats: “Count every vote!”. Except, you know, the inconvenient ones.

I keep wondering if I should ask the Obamabots if they have figured out that referring to Palin as a small town mayor as a smear while ignoring she is the governor of the one the most powerful state governors in the US, is really really really annoying women who see it as typical chauvenistic belittling of women’s qualifications yet? I still don’t think most of the Obamabots got the memo yet….so please keep the insults coming.

Nobody is buying that crap anymore. That card expired 40 years ago. Face the facts, the DNC gambled on a inexperienced jr senator with a shady past, and shady associates. There is nobody to blame but the Democratic party, and their favorite empty suit. PERIOD.
PS Which candidate chose to join a racially polarizing , black nationalist, afrocentric church, and remain their while he was running for president??? If you dont know, just ask Barack Obamas “typical white grandmother”

Developing: On September 12′s “View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg inquired of Senator John McCain, “do you want me to be a slave?”
The question was spurned by the Senator’s stance on Roe v. Wade. When McCain answered he supports judges who support the original intent of the Constitution, Whoopi drew a slavery comparison.
LMAO… more levers for McCain……

Um, last I checked, the Democrats contolled the Congress, which is the strongest branch of the government (can impeach the President or any judge, if they reallt want to – also controlls the law and budget).

The biggest science experiment in human histoy, The Hadron Collider experiment was almost blocked by a scared, vocal minority of Right Wing Religious Cooks convinced that turning on the LHC would spell doom for the earth. Yet some simple research and background in fairly basic science should have been enough to allay the fears generated by the LHC project.
Perhaps the Right wingers attack on science is having an affect in that our students lag the all other first world nations in science education. And now we have a VP candidate who actually supports the nonsense of Creationism. If you believe in creationism then you would have to reject all of Physics, Biology, Geology, Astonomy, Archeology, Mathematics and on and on.

The choice of Biden might be explained by Biden’s being Obama’s overseer, in that situation. (There was a column at this very site about this, not so many weeks ago. Before Obama became the nominee, Biden was VERY critical of his non-performance re Foreign Relations.)

Arabic is widely understood in Afghanistan even if there aren’t too many native speakers of the language in that country. Pashto, Dardi, Uzbeki and otehr Turkish vartiants too are spoken. Urdu/Hindustani/Hindi and Farsi too will open doors for you anywhere in Afghanistan. And if you can sing a few verses from any popular Bollywood musical – Afghanistan’s most popular cultural form by far – you will have people going fida over you. Barack understands the wide world in a way that is comparable to Ted Roosevelt, Churchill, Jefferson, and Adams. RNC bots should be disappointed that the best they can come up with is to disparage learning. I am stunned at the ignorance of the RNC bot. The cable guy who installed my connection last year was dressed up in Harley gear, and when I told him about where I was born in SE Asia, told me that he has been in the Marines and spoke two languages from there fluently. RNC bots are out of touch with just about everybody. Every veteran I have met takes great pride in their international awareness, language skills, cultural awareness etc., RNC bots wake up!

Does anyone else find it creepy the way Cindy McCain shadows John McCain on all public outings? She’s always by his side on stage. This became apparent yesterday at the Twin Towers memorial. It just reminded me of Nancy Reagan and the way she shadowed Ronald Reagan in public in 1987-1988, which we find out 20 years later was because he was in the beginning stages of Alzheimer’s. It just has the same sort of creepy factor, especially the way McCain kept looking back over his shoulder as if to see if she were still there. Could Cindy McCain be there to protect McCain from embarrasing gaffes? Exactly what do we know about McCain’s brain? Did those records that were released include brain scans, maybe to show whether or not he had calcium deposits in his brain, a predictor of Alzheimer’s? Like I said, it just gives me the creeps the way she is never more than a couple of feet away from him.

When are we going to talk about the “real issues”? Does either of these candidates intend to keep us at war to invoke the War Powers Act like W has and be the dictator he has? Does either of them intend to lead with 1200 signing memos (see Time magazine years ago), with which they render whatever the legislative branch or judicial branch does, null, as he dictates “forget what laws were passed and follow my signing memo?” Does either of them plan on ignoring all scientists like W has and assuming they know better about medicine, the environmental crisis, ET all? Does either of them plan on leading by lying to the American people to get us into a war, therefore rendering them OK with lying to the people about anything and everything? Do either of them plan on dictating to the justice dept or fire whomever doesn’t break the law for them? Does either of them plan to lead by totally ignoring intelligence reports until they let another major attack on our soil happen? Is this how either of them plan to “keep control” of the people? Do either of them plan to address the trillions of dollars that just the defense budget has put us into huge deficit? Does either of them plan to implement any auditing of the dept of defense? Do either of them have a plan for where to get the money W has borrowed from China, without zero thought of how easily China could break us in return? Does either of them plan on using any of the 911 commission recommendations or any of the findings of any of the other commissions W has reluctantly agreed to and then totally ignored? How do they feel about accepting information from others more experienced than them? How do they plan to choose those who will actually be running the white house and administration, as in Chief of Staff, Cabinet members, Secretaries, and other non-elected advisors?
Can they share any of resumes these people with the voters who are entitled to really know who is heavily influencing administrative policy?
Who and what do they think has made the mess we have gotten ourselves into in the last 8 years? We have been rolled back to 1935. How long will it take to clean up this mess? Can we just plan on the American standard of living being permanently changed until we live like the Chinese?

Belief in Creationism does not require that one “reject all of Physics, Biology, Geology, Astonomy, Archeology, Mathematics”, etc. Personally, I believe in a Creator; I do not know if he (or she) is like the one described in the Old Testament. I think we are all specimens in someone else’s petrie dish.
I do believe the woman at the top of the MMS scandal was a Clinton appointee, not a Bush appointee. Read to the end of the article next time (or have a kindergarten student read it to you).
From what I heard of the interview, she never used the word “war” with Russia, she said we would have to live up to our NATO obligation, which calls for ALL NATO nations to respond when any NATO nation is attacked (being a Democrat kool-aid drinker, you may not be aware of that). This is living up to our obligations, not war-mongering.
Unlike you, who draws a paycheck from the DNC to spend all day on web sites posting Democratic talking points, I have a real job. So now that my lunch hour is almost over, its time to get back to the fun stuff.

I think Obama’s latest ad on McCain being out of date (no use of computer, etc.) is great. It shows his age, his backwardness, raises questions as if you want Palin as President if he dies, but without saying so outright. He needs more of these ads, and Biden needs to attack Palin on her God complex. Having Palin in the White House turns the Iraq and Afghanistan war into a “Crusade”, not a fight against terrorism. She even wants to bring back a cold war with Russia (and maybe even a hot war with them)-scary people those Republicans.

Look folks, do you realize why we are paying $3.75 per gallon for gas? Clinton vetoed the bill for drilling in the 90′s. And the Dims are blocking drilling now. All the cost of fuel above approximately $2 per gallon can be laid directly at the feet of the Democrat party. If you want $5.00 gas, just go ahead and vote Democratic. Otherwise, vote for Republicans up and down the line so we can get energy independant. Straight ticket!!!
Posted by: pineywoods | September 12, 2008, 12:52 pm 12:52 pm
the US has become totally polarized — and this campaign’s divisiveness shows it clearly.
And I’m laying the cause of all this negativity right at the feet of the Republican Party, which has been at the forefront of releasing deceitful remarks and advertisements. Two recent examples illustrate this clearly:
McCain’s claim that Obama wants to provide “comprehensive sex education to kindergarten children” is a total distortion of a bil that Senator Obama introduced. The comprehensive portion referred to a total, age-appropriate, sex education experience for kindergarten children through high school. The kindergarten portion was simply devoted to introducing young children how to distinguish “inappropriate fondling” by an adult. And parents could opt out.
Secondly, McCain said Obama’s remark on “you can put lipstick on a pig — but it’s still a pig” was a clear, unmistakeable reference to McCain’s economic policies. But McCain heard “pig” and decided he meant Palin (who’s NOT a pig but is a mooseburger). In fact, McCain used the same reference on HRC’s health reform. Selective and very distorted twisting of the truth by McCain, methinks.
If you have done any reading, you should now realize that our Iraqi war was fueled by outright deceptions, selective use of data and outright lies by Bush. This war is a measure of Bush’s incompetence and leadership.
Do we need more of the same with McCain. I’d much rather have Obama’s vision and willingness to think about these issues — and to talk with our allies — rather than telling them “if you’re not for us, you’re against us”.
Obama wants to do right for all Americans — not just the top 5% who are the wealthiest.
[Which is why I cannot understand why there's such a large contingent of blue-collar workers supporting McCain, who will do nothing for them, except appeal to their fears and misunderstandings.]
Let’s bring some needed change and truth to our government, qualities seriously lacking in the Republican leadership. Pandering to Americans by selecting Palin, who believes in creationism and that humans have not contributed to global warming (oh, wait, she changed her mind on that yesterday!) should be insulting — but some American folks are lapping it up.
The Republican Party represents the lowest level of integrity and decency — and it’s apparent in their actions and how they present themselves to America.
The Democrats have attempted to focus on issues but have been distracted by the ugly deceit that is thrown out by the Republicans, who do NOT want an intelligent discourse on the issues.

Obama has spent most of his political career in Chicago. But instead of “changing” anything in Chicago while he was there, he became part of the seedy underworld of the Chicago Machine. Any of the “accomplishments” that are listed as his, were in fact the work of other people who then had the Chicago Machine give their work to Obama to claim as his own. It’s going to be hilarious when McCain’s campaign hits back with these sets of facts.

You ask where are the gasoline processors, right now they are processing oil from those countries that don’t like us. Easy to see that using our own feedstock is good for the USA.

Nobama, needs to answer questions like how does a community organizer qualify you for the Presidency. Why did you vote present 160 times. Why were you in a church that hates the counrty and white folks. Why do you associate with known terriorist. Why do you support sex Ed for 5 year olds. Why do you support partial birth abortions. Why you still wouldnt support the surge even though it is working. Why you asked for 1 billion dollars for special interest groups within a two year span. Why wasnt your wife at the 9/11 ceremony (oh she still isnt proud of our country). Why your V.P pick admits he is not the best person for the job. Why did Renzko help you with your real estate dealings. Please, Mr. NOBAMA answer these and then maybe the American people would have a little more respect for you. This is worst ad that any one can use — you think those 65 yr old and above will like this? Leadership is about principle, character, and judgment, not about how to use some techniques. Obama’s ad is going to backfire.

This OBAMA AD is going to backfire, he’s basically MAKING FUN OF OLD PEOPLE!!!
WHY IN THE WORLD DO DEMOCRATS THINK INSULTING OLD PEOPLE IS A GOOD IDEA? Liberals on the coast seem to think this is funny, but it turns off most people in places like Ohio, Michigan and yes Scranton Pennsylvania. It further cements OBAMA’S image as a CONDESCENDING SNOTTY ELITIST.
IT’S DESPERATE ACTUALLY, HE WAS DOING BETTER WHEN HE WAS ALL ABOUT THE POLITICS OF HOPE AND CHANGE, NOW HE’S JUST ENGAGING IN WHAT HE USED TO CALL “OLD WASHINGTON POLITICS.”
AND YOU OBAMA PERSONALITY FOLLOWERS SHOULD PAY ATTENTION.

Dems are afraid to defend our country. They would rather be walked on and pushed around by the world rather then stand up and take a stand. They dont get that the world will walk all over you if you let them. Dems have no backbone that is why they have been out of office for 8 years and it will be another 4 at least when Mcain/Palin win the white house. They would rather give up our freedoms then stand up to someone looking to take what we as a country have earned. Dems need a back bone. Or they can huge it out.

actually when was the last time McSame landed a plane on a carrier? The McSame of today is a caricature, Naval officers would cringe to be comapared to. That’s why other combat veterans, Charlie Rangel, Wesley Clarke, or Powell, think McSame is on an ego trip. His own cell mate Philip Butler who spent much more time than McSame in the Hanoi Hilton thinks McSame is cheapening the POW heritage. Butler went on to earn a doctorate in sociology and teach at the Naval Postgrad School. McSame cheated on his wife, ditched her, and became a sugar daddy to talk , NOun, Verb, POW…
The keyboard commandos of LGF and other trashy sites would no doubt approve. I work with AARP folks all the time and they would be offended at the caricature McSame is.

The Isotoner Campaign? HILARIOUS! And Obama’s new ad? EQUALLY HILAROIUS! THAT an example of taking off the gloves? No wonder he’s losing. He needs to fire the people that do his ads. Hell, he needs to fire his entire campaign staff. They did great during the primaries because they could manipulate the white liberal guilt and game the caucases. But they’ve been TERRILBE during the General Election. David Axelrod is failing to live up to his identity as the Liberal Karl Rove. He’s a loser, as is The One.

Obama has tried time and again to make this campaign about the issues only. The McCain campaign has tried to make it about Obama. Obama is just too nice. I think he should be running ads saying that John McCain wants to protect pedophiles and sexual predators. After all he doesn’t think children need to be taught about appropriate touching and to tell authorities. So McCain MUST be more interested in protecting pedophiles than he is in protecting children. Its basic logic.

RNC bots could do with some condescension and should be talked down to. It is their ignorance that got us into this mess in the first place. Which is why apart from Huckabee there isn’t an honest soul left in the RNC/GOP. RNC bots are full of smug ignorance and revel in their poor understanding. And added to that is the racist tinged jealousy. How dare an inner city couple who lived on food stamps challenge a scion of aristocracy and a redneck know nothing. That is why at the RNC not a single speaker referred to the civil rights struggle that saw the bravest and greatest Americans of the 20th century, as 1000s of unarmed people marching peacefully brought new meaning to what was said in 1776 by the founders and written into the Constitution. Compared to the giants who marched then, Dr.King and many others, braving truncheons, wild dogs, and water cannon, today’s RNC are mere marshmallow dolls. RNC bots can’t admit it, that is why they use the self same words that were flung at Dr.King. And this is the same party that sheltered a segregationist Thurmond and whose President Reagan was overruled when the Congress passed a resolution demanding that Mandela be freed from prison. I am glad Obama’s smarts set RNC bots’ teeth on edge. It is learning that created this land of ours and Obama represents the finest of that tradition. The RNC of today is abode to neither learning, nor honesty, nor dignity. The McSame-McPain ticket represents the nadir of RNC caliber.

Suz in KS, I teach my kids about strangers and in-appropriate touching. I feel that it’s my job as a parent to teach this. There are certain things that need to be taught in the home, not left up to the school. The government should not be involved when it comes to teaching our kids about “stranger danger”. That is our job as parents. I don’t feel that the McCain ad was calling Obama a pervert. It was simply stressing that this type of information is too much for kids so young.

I think Obama’s remarks are a slap in the face of many men and women who are successful but do not know their way around a computer! If this is the only thing that Obama can come up with to put McCain down then he is in trouble…Obama cannot say that McCain’s friends are crooks and anti-American, he cannot say that McCain spent 20 years in the same church with a pastor that is a white hater, a pastor who is a womanizer, he cannot say that McCain’s friends are anti-American and want to blow up the pentagon, he cannot say that McCain’s wife is not proud of her country…now, Obama, don’t you look stupid…you have now stooped below Pelosi..and I thought that her remark that even the Catholics do not know when life begins since she says she is a devout Catholic was dumb..but, you, Obama, take the prize!

I don’t wish drowning on anyone. But it is an example of government dependency at its’ worst. Under BHO, this group will get more funding, thus grow in size. There is something very anti-American about having to depend on the government for life’s basic needs. You know the important one’s like liqour, nail jobs, strip club visits, and trips to Hawaii. Then again, maybe they were just trying to jumpstart the economy also. I say as I laugh.

“should the political winds shift in an ugly direction, he would stand with them”…
Seems to me what Obama is saying is that he will remain true to American ideals rather than succumbing to knee-jerk and racist responses that go against everything America stands for. Seems pretty Presidential to me.
Also, the ad referring to McCain’s admitted inability to use a computer or send en e-mail may have gone over some of your heads as you were bowing down to hail Palin as the savior of your campaign. I believe that the issue was presented to reinforce the fact that McCain is so out of touch with real people and their problems. Jeez, my mother in almost 80 years old and she and her friends spend more time on their computers than I do.
When Palin was announced as the Republican choice for veep, it showed how desperate they were. I don’t think it would have happened had they put more “due diligence” into the pick. Everyday more and more will come out about her, and everyday, it will be more and more responses from right-wing shills, rather than the McCain/Palin, who might actually have to answer questions if they emerged from their protective shells.
Speaking of shills, where has Ann Coulter been through all this? Maybe she’s vacationing in the same place where the DNC has Sharpton & Jackson sippping umbrella drinks until November.

We actually agree on that! I work everyday, (actually i’m working now) but that’s not all what the dems are about,-giving out welfare. The main difference in dems and reps, is how they group people. The reubs put everyone in one box and only work with the those that make it out and throw the others away like trash. The dems understand that different scenarios play a major role in the success of some people versus the demise of others. I’m a black male that’s college educated and never lived on the system but I do understand that some people need assistance every now and again. The repubs are clearly out for self. i.e. hurricane Katrina-FEMA!! That was the a complete disaster! Nobody derves that!!

I’m talking about McCain’s domestic energy policy. Those nuclear plants, oil platforms, and wind machines are not going to be dropped out of the sky, like BHO.
You seem intelligent enough to see thru Obama’a dreamy speeches and easy-going personality. I’ll even admit that he seems like a friendly fellow, but I need more than that to vote for the guy for the most important job in the world.

no obama 08— i disagree with mccains energy policies.. drill(wont lower gas prices) nuclear(very dangerous and bad for the environment) what obama wants to do is build alot of wind generators(lots of good clean jobs) solar(lots of good clean jobs) tidal(lots of good clean jobs) building new types of cars to run on clean green fuels(lots of good clean jobs) ———–but build oil rigs and oil refineries(dirty short term jobs,in 20 years when we ahve pumped all the oil out of the ground we have all those people will lose there jobs.

I am not looking for lower gas prices. I like the fact that Americans are driving less. What we need is to get off foreign oil, immediately. There is one of the largest transfers of wealth happening right now. Amereicans are sending hundreds of billions of dollars to the Middle East for their oil. Why not keep this money in house? This would help our economy tremendously.
Ask France how dangerous nuclear energy is? Chernobly and Three Mile Island were over 20 years ago. The safety check processes have exponentially improved.

Princess: the registration for the democrats is significant..since a lot of these voters will probably vote republican after seeing Obama’s flips and flops and moving more and more toward the right..he has taken some of
Bush’s policies as his own! As a registered Democrat myself, I have also swung to the right side of the aisle now, and wil vote straight down the line for all republicans on the ballot. My reasoning is that Obama is not what I thought he was and the do-nothing Congress needs a wake up call! I am sure millions and millions of people will be doing the same thing!

So much for Senator Obama’s “politics of change.”
Posted by: jjsmith6575 | September 12, 2008, 6:20 pm 6:20 pm
Both campaigns suck, both are way too negative, neither have made any concrete policy proposals, neither have told us how they would lead, both have demonstrated they are typical politicians engaging in politics as usual, and both have people that are way too inexperienced on their tickets. I believe that neither can deliver on change, and neither have workable plans for the economy. These are pretty desperate times. How is a person to decide? I honestly, truthfully don’t know.
I’m going to go with McCain, based solely on a couple of judgments. First, when you truly examine their records, it is very clear that McCain has not been doctrinaire and has worked across the aisle and with varied coalitions. He may have to pander to the right wing on abortion, but he hasn’t made a habit of introducing that type of legislation, and he has worked on important issues to be part of the solution throughout his career. I respect the members of the gang of 14 for being bi-partisan. It may be clear that McCain’s an egotist like all the others, but it’s also clear he loves America.
In contrast, Obama has worked only with the left, selected a far-left running mate like himself, has shown NO tendency to build coalitions, and was counting on a big democratic win to run things the way he wanted, with no blue prints or game plan. A democratic house, senate and white house with liberal leadership just can’t be a good thing.
McCain challenged Obama to 10 old-fashioned one on one Townhall debates, and Obama didn’t care enough about the issues to agree. He had an opportunity to convince people that he had real proposals and could carry them out, and he BLEW IT!
Second, I just really don’t trust someone who breaks their word because it’s inconvenient. It seems to me insane that Obama plans on being a reformer who will get money out of politics, and then refuses public financing because he wants to outspend McCain. That’s not right; it’s just not right. It only makes him more beholden to the rich, not less. The right thing to do was to accept public financing and live by those rules, and McCain did that and Obama didn’t. That’s hypocritical and inconsistent with Obama’s expressed values. If he can’t even honor simple pledges, I’m not going to give him the benefit of the doubt with the hopey changey thing.
In this incredibly ugly and nasty campaign, where both camps are behaving despicably, that
Posted by: Chad3337 | September 12, 2008, 6:21 pm 6:21 pm
The Republican party betrayed us once again. It presented us with a candidate who is stuck in the past and suffers from lack of judgement by selecting an inexperienced running mate just to pander to Hillary’s voters.
We got no choice but to vote for Obama in Novemeber. No question, Obama/Biden look much better than Mccain/Palin in this election. They will give us the change from the last 7 years of disaster. With a new leadership with a new vision, I know they will restore prosperity to America and the American people.

It’s amusing to see how the Liberal media gingerly reports on Obama they call his NEGATIVE ATTACKS as fighting back. Obama and his friends in the media are hoping that by twisting the facts and blaming others for his sexist and demeaning comments that people will forget what he said and call people who question his judgment, swift boat attackers.
There is nothing new about Obama he is your typical old school politician changing his mind and twisting the facts for his political gain. That’s why his first so called executive decision was to appoint Sen. Joe Biden of 36 years of Washington corruption and being part of the WORSE Congress in History of the USA which is led by the Democrats (Cong. Nancy Pelosi D. and Sen. H. Reid D.)

“Palin’s office approved a state job for a friend and campaign aide with whom she shared a land investment, Bed, financial records and interviews over the past two weeks show. She hired a former lobbyist for a pipeline company to help oversee a multibillion-dollar deal with that same company. She named a police chief accused of harassment to head the state police. And she sent campaign e-mails on her city hall account while serving as mayor of Wasilla — conduct for which she later turned in an oil commissioner on ethics charges.”
Although the McCain-Palin duo now rail against earmarks, the AP looks at the earmarks Palin has requested in Alaska. “Palin has sought $197 million worth of earmarks for 2009, down about 25 percent from the $256 million she sought in the 2008 budget year. As mayor of tiny Wasilla, Alaska, she hired a lobbyist to seek federal money for special projects. Wasilla obtained 14 earmarks, totaling $27 million, between 2000-2003, according to Taxpayers for Common Sense.”

Barry sinking in the polls.

Barry will win in November no doubt. There are white people in America who have common sense, even Republicans, and they will secretly check Obama when they walk into that booth. McCain is too old and picked a cheerleader who knows less than the average well traveled citizen about foreign policy. We would get attacked if that woman were president. She doesn’t know a hill from the beans, and she can’t reform what she doesn’t even know. Tell your friends to go register to vote, in tiny towns and big cities everywhere, the repubs will sink America if they get elected again, and we certainly can tell that from the pick of VP. Hey, did McCain almost loose his temper on The View? That was also scary to watch him say Roe v. Wade was a mistake. These crazy Christian right wingers want women in this country to behave as if they live in Iran. Thanks but no thanks. Stay out of my personal business. Since they preach less government all the time, then that should include staying of my religion, my body parts, and my morality. They should do their job, run the government. If I want to hear a sermon I will go to church.

“Those who would trade our freedom for the soup kitchen of the welfare state have told us that they have a utopian solution of peace without victory. They call their policy “accommodation” (Or “Suppository Economics” in modern Democrat terminology.) And they say if we only avoid any direct confrontation with the enemy, he will forget his evil ways and learn to love us. All who oppose them are indicted as warmongers. They say we offer simple answers to complex problems. Well, perhaps there is a simple answer–not an easy answer–but simple.
If you and I have the courage to tell our elected officials that we want our national policy based upon what we know in our hearts is morally right. We cannot buy our security, our freedom from the threat of the bomb by committing an immorality so great as saying to a billion now in slavery behind the Iron Curtain, “Give up your dreams of freedom because to save our own skin, we are willing to make a deal with your slave masters.” Alexander Hamilton said, “A nation which can prefer disgrace to danger is prepared for a master, and deserves one.”
You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on Earth, or we will sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness.

You didn’t even answer the question as to how George W Bush made it into Yale! I’m sure you knew you opened for yourself the can of worm and now are afraid to admitt the shameful truth!
If you don’t want to admit it, I’ll do it for you: George W Bush got into Yale due to the same reason he got the Presidency: His father’s influence! Not because he’s smart!
Yet, you have the guts to use George W Bush’s admittance into Yale as a reason discredit Harvard scholars and Obama’s achievement as the *NUMBER 1* graduate there!
The last time I checked, Obama came from a poor family… unlike George W Bush who is from a powerful and influential family!
PLEASE… If you think it’s that easy to get into Harvard as a poor student (let alone being the #1 student like Obama), then please tell me which university have you graduated from?

You equated all Ivy league students as the best of the best. I am pointing out that his competition is not America’s top 10. Money wise, yes. Intellectually, not so much. If you disagree, then how did the left’s great satan(GWB) get in?
You seem bitter. Money doesn’t always buy the best. Obama is a smart fellow, I’ll admit that, but education alone doesn’t qualify you, me, or anyone else to run the USA. Proven service, honesty, love of country, and faith in American know-how are more important to me than an Ivy league lawyer wanting to “change” the “greatest country in the world.” (BHO’s own words)

He then returned to Honolulu to live with his maternal grandparents while attending Punahou School from the fifth grade in 1971 until his graduation from high school in 1979.” “Punahou School, once known as Oahu College, is a private, co-educational, nonsectarian college preparatory school located in Honolulu in the U.S. State of Hawaii. With about 3,700 students attending the school, in kindergarten through the twelfth grade, it is the largest independent school in the United States.Tuition is $16,675 for the 2008-2009 school year.” I don;t think you can be considered poor and go to this school. The opposite of creationism meaning that we’re out here alone, everything and everybody is an incomprehensibly astounding accident, everything that we accomplish and fight for is lost after we die…since there is no God out there we have to take care of ourselves, hence the appeal of socialism, but the good, nay crucial part of there being no god is that we get get to run wild like dogs in the street in regards to our intimate lives with no guilt whatsoever, lie, cheat steal, all with no worry over morality. Best of all with no creationism, we get to play god ourselves, doling out welfare and making extremely lenient and tolerant judgements on products and behaviours that follow from believing we come from apes. Hence no real need for free speach… Killing is justified however in cases where someone shoots down our rhetoric, or if the person is still unborn.
What a magnificent trade off that comes from atheism!! You get to be a compassionate, feeling, walking herpes museum, and an instant intellectual to boot!!

All you are doing is taking the incorrect Obama catch-phrase of “Bush III.” We’ve heard these arguments for months from Obama supporters, but the fact is that the 2 are about as politically different as can be. Are Republicans not allowed to see that something needs to change and we believe that there is a better way than increasing the size of government. Is that allowed of us?

You seem bitter. Money doesn’t always buy the best. Obama is a smart fellow, I’ll admit that, but education alone doesn’t qualify you, me, or anyone else to run the USA.
Proven service, honesty, love of country, and faith in American know-how are more important to me than an Ivy league lawyer wanting to “change” the “greatest country in the world.” (BHO’s own words) ————
Bitter? I’m angry and sad that many goodhearted but uninformed Americans put guys like George W Bush, who they believe as you said, “has proven service, ‘honest’, love country”, into the most important job in the US, and have him ruin our nation.
The saddest part is, there are people who can’t even see that!
Just because a person “served in the military, honest, love country” does NOT mean he/she can be a President! They would be the ideal generals, but President?!?

Galileo got a bum rap from the church, baby! ——————-
Yeah, this is exactly the reason why our Founding Fathers, with their wisdom and foresight, wrote into the constitution the separation of Church & State! They knew pretty well back then that if they let the Church get invovled and run the government, the US would be screwed back into the Dark Age!

is it just me or is it that Obama looks weaker and weaker and weaker every time he opens his mouth?
he hodgepodges from issue to issue, says “uh” alot, with huge pauses in his speech, reneges on foreign policy ( Iraq withdrawal timeframe, guns/religion clingers, etc ), and fires off attacks without thinking it through ( seemingly at the very least ).
McCain may not agree with everything i do, but to tell you the truth, this election isn’t about that. It’s about keeping the country strong and united.
Obama will not unite the deep south or the heartland. And i fear what he’ll do with income taxes and my gun rights.
that’s all she wrote for my vote.

I’d like to address Ace’s comment about Democrats being anti disability and defending John McCain’s inability to use email as being caused by his “handicap”. Computers, the internet and e-mail are used every day by hundreds of thousands of “handicapped” people- btw the correct term would be a person with a disability here. My husband is a quadrapalegic who works 8plus hours a day and McCain has much greater use of his body than my husband. The Republican party has done their utmost to take away rights the ADA gave people with disabilities back in 1990 and they consistently cut funding on programs that are life and death to many people with disabilities.
If you want to empower people with disabilities you should not be defending McCain’s lack of computer skills with a sympathy plead that he is handicapped and the very last thing anyone should be doing is voting for McCain/Palin for president.

Everyday, Obama and his moronic supporters show anew that he shouldn’t be anywhere near Congress must less the Presidency.
From a 2000 Forbes article about McCain’s pioneering web-based campaign is noteworthy:
“In certain ways, McCain was a natural Web candidate. Chairman of the Senate Telecommunications Subcommittee and regarded as the U.S. Senate’s savviest technologist, McCain is an inveterate devotee of email. His nightly ritual is to read his email together with his wife, Cindy. The injuries he incurred as a Vietnam POW make it painful for McCain to type. Instead, he dictates responses that his wife types on a laptop. “She’s a whiz on the keyboard, and I’m so laborious,” McCain admits.”
So Obama and his idiots attack John McCain because of his disability he received as a result of his service to this country! How is this any different that the Daily Kos attacking John for the way he smiles?
Are these people insane? This is a the type of judgement we want leading our country?

Hey Steve,
Your responses clearly showed you have NO EDUCATION, BIASED, and like to spew nonsense! Here are the reasons:
1) 9-11 happened NOT because of lack of budget (as you claimed). They FBI *did* have intels prior to the attack. THEY JUST DIDN’T TAKE THE THREAT SERIOUSLY!
2) You said “you Liberals have been in charge of the checkbook the last 4 years” –
In 2004, Republicans had control of BOTH the Senate *AND* House!
Senate:
55 (R)
44 (D)
House:
232 (R)
202 (D)
In addition, Bush controlled the White House, so…… HOW THE HECK DID YOU COME UP WITH “you Liberals have been in charge of the checkbook the last 4 years”?!?!?!

1) Stay in school / go back to school
or
2) Do some RESEARCH on the internet BEFORE you start making IDIOTIC ACCUSATIONS!!!

Obama sort of reminds me of the character played by Steve McQueen in the “Cincinatti Kid”. In his mind he’s facing an old man who he thinks he can beat handily. The “old man” has years of experience behind him as a famous poker playing champion. The “Kid” thinks his best days are behind him and will prove it to everyone by beating him soundly. In the movie you see Robinson (McCain), a distinguished man with few words, just play his game quietly, in a steady and methodical manner. At the end he looks like he is in trouble against the kid and then when just everyone thinks the “Kid” has him..Robinson produces the winning card. The Kid looks stunned, in utter disbelief..whereupon Robinson finally says something in the movie..”Listen kid, you’re good see..but as long as I am around..you’re still second best”!

McCain -Palin Lie in ads and on the stump BREAKING ONE OF THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
John McCain got it wrong Friday when he asserted that his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, had not requested any earmarks, the spending directives lawmakers insert in spending bills that McCain has vowed to eliminate.
Palin, in fact, requested $198 million in federal earmarks in February, including such expenses as $487,000 to fight obesity in Alaska and $4 million to develop recreational trails.
Posted by: RipGOP | September 13, 2008, 6:35 pm 6:35 pm
RipGOP…While we appear to be on the same side, I.e. Obama’s, just a thought about “earmarks”. If you were a Governor or Senator or House Rep, would it not be your job to get the most from Washington that you could for the sake of your constituents? After all, is that not your “job”. We should not blame our elected officials for “working” the system, we should blame them for not “Changing” it! McCain has had the most YEARS to Change the system, and yet he has not! That makes his stand against earmarks disingenuous! I think Palin is a nice person and perhaps even a good Governor for Alaska, but I see her as ill suited both intellectually and emotionally to play politics on the world stage against the likes of Putin!

nh, you are too easy on the Republicans… being nice doesnt work with them… And as far as your view of Sarah Palin being a nice woman…
• In a videotaped speech to students at her church this year she claimed that the war in Iraq is God’s will.
• In the same speech she also claimed that it is God’s will that Alaska build a $30 million gas and oil pipeline.
• As governor, she advocates teaching creationism in public school classrooms.
• A bipartisan committee is investigating Palin who fired public safety commissioner Walt Monegan because he would not dismiss a trooper, Mike Wooten, who went through a messy divorce with her sister before Palin’s election as governor. The evidence is poring out suggesting abuse of power.
• Also refuting overwhelming scientific evidence, Plain states that global warming is not due to human activity.
• She opposes abortion even in the case of rape or incest.
• As mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, she secured almost $27 million in earmarks for her hamlet of about 6,400, assisted by a lobbyist closely allied to now-tarnished Sen. Ted Stevens. Now she says that she is opposed to earmark funding.
• Palin, who has zero experience in foreign policy and only last year received her first U.S. passport , told Alaska Business Monthly that ‘I’ve been so focused on state government, I haven’t really focused much on the war in Iraq.”
• She is under investigation as to whether she abused her power as governor by dismissing the state’s public safety commissioner for refusing to fire her former brother-in-law from the state police.
• She opposes Sex Education in schools and has a 17 year old daughter who and is now pregnant and unwed.
Palin has close ties to the extreme fringe Alaska Independence Party, which has at times sought a vote on whether the state should secede.
• As mayor, she pressured her town librarian to ban books.
• Palin is a NRA member and opposes any bans on assault weapons
(Do you need an assault weapon to kill a moose?)
• Palin flip-flopped on her support for the “Bridge to Nowhere.”
• Bush speechwriter Matthew Scully wrote Palin’s speech… How is this Change?
Whats the Difference between Bush and Palin?…. Lipstick
Clearly she is prepared to continue the Bush legacy of hypocrisy, ignorance of science, cronyism, and promoting the agenda of the extreme religious right. Palin can count herself among the members of the “Flat Earth Society.”

Yet some simple research and background in fairly basic science should have been enough to allay the fears generated by the LHC project.
Perhaps the Right wingers attack on science is having an affect in that our students lag all other first world nations in science education. And now we have a VP candidate who actually supports the nonsense of Creationism. If you believe in creationism then you would have to reject all of Physics, Biology, Geology, Astronomy, Archeology, Mathematics and on and on.

Gov. Sarah Palin lives by the maxim that all politics is local, not to mention personal.
So when there was a vacancy at the top of the State Division of Agriculture, she appointed a high school classmate, Franci Havemeister, to the $95,000-a-year directorship. A former real estate agent, Ms. Havemeister cited her childhood love of cows as one of her qualifications for running the roughly $2 million agency.
These Cronys know nothing of the positions they hold. and are terribly inept… Remember How Katrina played out???? Cronyism will be the way Of Palin McCain
Ms. Havemeister was one of at least five schoolmates Ms. Palin hired, often at salaries far exceeding their private sector wages.

Palin Is Bush with lipstick
Rick Steiner, a University of Alaska professor, sought the e-mail messages of state scientists who had examined the effect of global warming on polar bears. (Ms. Palin said the scientists had found no ill effects, and she has sued the federal government to block the listing of the bears as endangered.) An administration official told Mr. Steiner that it would cost $468,784 to process his request.
When Mr. Steiner finally obtained the e-mail messages — through a federal records request — he discovered that state scientists had in fact agreed that the bears were in danger, records show.
“Their secrecy is off the charts,” Mr. Steiner said.

Was Obama computer illiterate himself or just being an insensative elitist again when he approved this ad? Had he searched Google he would have found a 2000 article in the Boston Globe and a later AP article explaining that McCain could only use a keyboard on a limited basis due to the injuries he sustained during his years as a POW in Viet Nam. Perhaps Obama thought he was in San Francisco again and could get away with making fun of others.

OOOO I love this. I smell desperation as Obama calls McCain, who’s been physically broken and tortured to the point of not being able to type well – an out of touch pol (sub-rosa = a grumpy old man).
Obama will tell you what he’ll do but not what he has accomplished.
He says he will bring hope, but won’t give specifics.
He says his policies are better – but has never shown he can deliver any meaningful change except a good speech and a flair for slogans.
These weeks will be a good measure of how he can handle pressure… so far his performance has not been good – reactive, tentative, stiff, condescending, vulnerable and defensive.
He says he is a good poker player – but this a bad “tell”!

Has anyone even taken notice that Senator Obama’s most recent campaign ad is mocking an American hero? Most of us in the “fly-over” states like to treat our vets with more respect!

I would rather have the president attending to the nation’s business than sitting on the computer e-mailing. Why does Obama think that should be an issue? Is it one of the requirements to be a president?
Michelle was not invited to the 9/11 event, they were afraid she would open her mouth, she is better at dancing with liberals.
The Republican party NOT DEMOCRATIC PARTY was founded in 1854 on an anti-slavery platform and have been against slavery ever since.

Berry, you think McCain cares about disabled people and veterans?
McCAIN REPEATEDLY VOTED AGAINST VETERANS’ HEALTH BENEFITS
******* McCain Opposes the 21st Century GI Bill Because It Is Too Generous. McCain did not vote on the GI Bill that will provide better educational opportunities to veterans of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, paying full tuition at in-state schools and living expenses for those who have served at least three years since the 9/11 attacks. McCain said he opposes the bill because he thinks the generous benefits would “encourage more people to leave the military.” (S.Amdt. 4803 to H.R. 2642, Vote 137, 5/22/08; Chattanooga Times Free Press, 6/2/08; Boston Globe, 5/23/08; ABCNews.com, 5/26/08)
******* McCain Voted Against Increased Funding for Veterans’ Health Care. Although McCain told voters at a campaign rally that improving veterans’ health care was his top domestic priority, he voted against increasing funding for veterans’ health care in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. (Greenville News, 12/12/2007; S.Amdt. 2745 to S.C.R. 95, Vote 40, 3/10/04; Senate S.C.R. 18, Vote 55, 3/16/05; S.Amdt. 3007 to S.C.R. 83, Vote 41, 3/14/06; H.R. 1591, Vote 126, 3/29/07)
******* Opposed an Assured Funding Stream for Veterans’ Health Care. McCain opposed providing an assured funding stream for veterans’ health care, taking into account annual changes in veterans’ population and inflation. (S.Amdt. 3141 to S.C.R. 83, Vote 63, 3/16/06)
******* McCain Voted Against Adding More Than $400 Million for Veterans’ Care. McCain was one of 13 Republicans to vote against providing an additional $430 million to the Department of Veterans Affairs for outpatient care and treatment for veterans. (S.Amdt. 3642 to H.R. 4939, Vote 98, 4/26/06)
******* Voted Against Establishing a $1 Billion Trust Fund for Military Health Facilities. McCain voted against establishing a $1 billion trust fund to improve military health facilities by refusing to repeal tax cuts for those making more than $1 million a year. (S.Amdt. 2735 to S.Amdt. 2707 to H.R. 4297, Vote 7, 2/2/06)

For all you brains out there it does not matter who controls the senate and the house. what matters is who has the votes. Both sides are great at stalling and getting nothing done energy for example the dumb dumb democrats want no drilling that want new fuels that are not here yet. they want cars that get 100 miles a gallon not here yet so they stall and the taxpayer pays for it.

Every pc of legislation you listed was voted against not be cause of what was in it but what was added to it by the DEMS. CUT funding for American troops serving in Iraq. Add special interest earmarks like 300 million Sen. Obama requested. So you are misrepresenting the picture completely. The veterans Love McCain as do the service personnel of the armed forces. 93 % approval rating. I guess that means Obama has 7 %

Wow you people need to get a clue. So of course he believed there were there everyone had been saying it for 10 years. You morons that want to change history can’t or do not want to remember what it was like after 9/11. 92% of the American people wanted to attack Iraq hell most wanted to wipe out Iran and Saudi Arabia too. So get off your silly stupid childish high horse. Because if he did not attack Iraq and there were weapons and something would have happened to America you would all be crying he did not do his job. You people that forgot 9/11 make me sick. Because it is people like you that if you get your way will guarantee it will happen again.

McCain is a tool of Washington lobbyists. “His campaign manager lobbies for corporations outsourcing American jobs,” the ad states, flashing an image of McCain with top aide Rick Davis. “The campaign chairman he picked last year . . . a bank lobbyist,” it continues, with an image of McCain and former Texas senator Phil Gramm. “If seven of McCain’s top advisers are lobbyists, who do you think will run his White House?”

Palin’s “pit bull with lipstick” line surely will go down in history — if not the Feminism Hall of Shame — as one of the dumbest things a trailblazing smart woman ever said in public on this side of Stepford.
Since her debut in Minnesota, post-convention sales have gone up on T-shirts with slogans such as “My Hockey Mom Can Beat Up Your Soccer Mom.”
Given this sentiment and how the McSame Republicans seem to like watching women go at it, the menfolk in charge of the next convention might want to consider installing a rubber mat and introducing Jell-O wrestling at their next national frat party.
That’s sure to delight the flat-earth delegates who believe foreign policy experience is relative to one’s proximity to Vladimir Putin. But for the moment, let’s just let those sleeping dogs lie, shall we? No sense poking them more than we have to before November.
Posted by: Jesica | September 14, 2008, 12:05 am 12:05 am
As sure as I am that Palin was not vetted properly for this historic opportunity, I am equally confident that the pit bull reference, like most of that remarkable speech, neither was written by a woman nor approved by a woman of any merit. Remember when Republicans lauded the image of strong Republican women, as once defined by Kirkpatrick, Kassebaum, Whitman and Rice, among others? The party of Eisenhower, Goldwater and Reagan is now the Grand Old Pit Bull Party and has set up Palin as both raging junkyard dog and doe-eyed pup needing adoption and protection. Make up your minds, boys!
Truthfully, the voters really do have a dog in this fight to stop the loyal Bushies from continuing to wreck the country and wage war without provocation. It’s just that it’s not that old hunting dog howling at the Sedona moon. And it ain’t the Maybelline pit bull from Wasilla, either.

Obama spoke the truth the old man is out of touch and out of his mind for picking Palin as his VP. I used to support Clinton and would have gladly given McCain my attention but when he picked that sad stand in for Hilary that was when I decided to go with Obama. At least with Obama you don’t feel like he’ll say anything just to get the women vote!

When is anyone with a conscience from the McCain campaign going to stand up against this “win at any cost” campaign? Where is the outrage from honest Republican commentators?
I’m afraid that it will all come after the fact, and someone will write a book bemoaning the fact that negative campaigning works. And one of the staffers who is coaching Sarah Palin now will tell us, when it is too late, that she really was unqualified, but they were afraid of losing their jobs.
Where is the integrity from anyone on the McCain campaign?

Barack Obama is a true leader, inspiring the public by pointing them toward a future where America will regain its moral compass, engage its allies, help the helpless and share the wealth. He is a good man. All I see on the other side is fear, the past, and the way they disgraced America by killing 100,000 Iraqis and 4,300 American Soldiers. Nothing will ever erase the fact that the Republicans are guilty of great ineptitude and downright murder. I will NEVER again believe what they say, and they’re not going to gloss over their lies and stupidity by putting a dress on it. They need to apologize to America for all the horrors they have brought upon our great nation, and for how they have disgraced it.

This is from a Forbes article from 2000 that anyone can find online:
“In certain ways, McCain was a natural Web candidate. Chairman of the Senate Telecommunications Subcommittee and regarded as the U.S. Senate’s savviest technologist, McCain is an inveterate devotee of email. His nightly ritual is to read his email together with his wife, Cindy. The injuries he incurred as a Vietnam POW make it painful for McCain to type. Instead, he dictates responses that his wife types on a laptop. “She’s a whiz on the keyboard, and I’m so laborious,” McCain admits.”
McCain doesn’t personal use a computer because he physically can’t work for long periods of time with a keyboard. Fortunately, that is not a prerequisite to be President.
The Obama campaign is sick, those of you who add to its vicious echo chamber are sick, and the media is sick for not calling this 1982 ad what it is: a vicious smear of an honorable veteran’s disability.
- Another New Democrat for McCain

I used to respect Mccain and now not no more! He has his sold his soul for the presidency of United States. If lies about Obama without having conscious, he will lie to American people at some point in time if he becomes President. I would like to remind Americans, the truth is Mccain is the same as Bush, both have lied to American people. Mccain relies on mileading, lies and distortion to convince American people that he is for reform instead providing to solution on enconmy, health care, war in Iraq, education and much more. This last week he has aired negitive attacks on Obama practically everyday, which completely false. You call that change, is more of the same. Mccain had so much experince that he voted for the war and other side Obama was against the. More half the American people feel we have should not gone to war with Iraq it was a mistake. Most of congress said it was mistake too. Mccain is the one to lead Americans to victory in Iraq. Even Gen. Petraus said we might not achive victory. How does Mccain define victory in Iraq?Does anyone know out there? He can’t even get shite or sunni right. Mccain once was true and is he is joke!

Who are these candidates?
What ruse will they wear today?
Why can’t we get any credible candidates?
Everything they do is to play on the psyche of potential voters.
They have very little actionable substance.
To date I have never known a president that can actually legislate.
For some naïve reason these candidates tout what legislation they will have power over. The only power he has is the laws the other two branches of government give the presidency to use.
Congress gave authority to Bush to go into Iraq. This was something he could not legally do himself. The intelligence committees failed the American people.
So if you want real change throw the rascals in congress out.
These candidates should be touting how they will honor and uphold the law.
The campaign ads only illustrate how good they will be in finding loopholes.

John McCain has be attacking Barack Obama since the day Barack Obama won the primary. It has been negative ads and more negative ads put out almost daily by the McCain campaign!!
John McCain and his disgusting campaign which is run by sleazy Carl Rove, and his disgusting evil, corrupt friends, has been putting out republican ads full of lies, lies, and more lies.
THE FACTS ARE:
- It is John McCain himself who told reporters that he, cannot use a computer!!
- It is John McCain himself who said in a debate during the republican primary that he does not know alot about the economy!
- It is John McCain who has for the past 20 years has voted AGAINST alternative. John McCain has voted AGAINST every single effort made over the past 20 years to get America off foreign oil.
- It is John McCain who claims he will clean up Washington , BUT RIGHT NOW John McCain has at least 9 lobbyists running his campaign. Why does John McCain have lobbyists running his campaign.

Let’s see Obama’s “new” politics:
Speechmaker Obama talks about an era of bipartisanship, He speaks powerfully about the destructive politics of red and blue states.
Politician Obama has toed his party’s line more reliably than almost any other Democrat in US politics. He has a near-perfect record of voting with his side. He has the most solidly left-wing voting history in the Senate. His one act of bipartisanship, a transparency bill co-sponsored with a Republican senator, was backed by everybody on both sides of the aisle. He has never challenged his party’s line on any issue of substance.
Speechmaker Obama talks a lot about finding ways to move beyond the bloody battlegrounds of the “culture wars” in America; the urgent need to establish consensus on the emotive issue of abortion.
Politician Obama’s support for abortion rights is the most extreme of any Democratic senator. In the Illinois legislature he refused to join Democrats and Republicans in supporting a Bill that would require doctors to provide medical care for babies who survived abortions. No one in the Senate – not the arch feminist Hillary Clinton nor the superliberal Edward Kennedy – opposed this same humane measure.

Sadly I’ve come to the conclusion that the Obama crew will lose this race because they hav eno spine. they talk a good game of getting tough but never deliver. If the last ads released or the campaign stump speeches are their idea of being tough we can throw in the towel and say millions of donated dollars were just flushed down the drain. I am coming to believe the hype about Obama’s arrogance in doing things his way or no way. He’s losing this race big time and yet he holds to the same drill on the campaign trail. Can’t someone shake these guys up!

Obama attacks John McCain saying he is out of touch, doesn’t know how to use the computer or send an email..and his would be genius spokeman Dan pheiffer is quoted as saying..”Our economy wouldn’t survive without the Internet, and cyber-security continues to represent one our most serious national security threats,” Pfeiffer said. “It’s extraordinary that someone who wants to be our president and our commander in chief doesn’t know how to send an e-mail.” The more I listen to Obama and his “Einsteins” like David Axelrod and Dan pfeiffer the more I am convinced that they know they are losing and losing bad. Their comments are from pure desperation. Had they done a bit of homework instead of shooting from the hip as pfeiffer confirmed with another tell tale desperado quote..”We will respond with speed and ferocity to John McCain’s attacks and we will take the fight to him, but we will do it on the big issues that matter to the American people.”..they would have known that a man that is very much In Touch (as John McCain surely is) with what is going on in the world, and particularly the economey also does not use a computer or send emails..and he happens to be the richest man on the Planet!
