Biden Rips McCain/Palin for Not Facing the Press
ABC News’ Matt Jaffe reports: Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., in his speech today at the Laborers’ International Union of North America’s Local 894 in Akron, Ohio, criticized the McCain/Palin ticket for not facing the press.
"I got asked a question by the press this morning, er, yesterday," Biden said, referencing Kate Snow’s pre-taped interview for today’s "Good Morning America."
"I’ve done a lot of press, I’ve done, I don’t know, I was told I did 68, 70 press conferences, and the person says, ‘What do you think about Sarah Palin?’ I said, ‘When she does three, I’ll let you know.’ I don’t know! I don’t have any idea! I don’t know! I don’t know!" Biden said as the crowd rose to their feet.
"You know, I mean, look, and it’s not, look guys, it’s not just Sarah Palin," he continued. "When’s the last time John, when’s the last time John’s had a press conference? I’m serious.”
Biden then turned to Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland, who introduced him.
"Ted, you and I know, when an elected official stops having press conferences, it ain’t because he’s found a way to communicate," Biden said. "It’s because he doesn’t want to communicate. Look folks, I mean, I, I, it’s just, if I sound angry, it’s because I am angry. I mean, it’s like I don’t get it, I don’t get it!”

Watching Palin
I’m watching Palin speak right now in Vienna, Ohio.
She looks as if she is about to burst into tears.
The outcome of this election will be frightening if she and McCain are victorious.
She was placed in a position where she was unready for the tasks she was to engage in. This would be true regardless of gender.
Now, she is being buffeted by questions that she is unable to respond to, and she is wholly unready for this and cannot deal with the outcome or ramifications.
She is like a hurt young girl rather than a Vice Presidential candidate.
She looks as if her head will burst with anger and hate and hurt.
This is closer to the Palin we have heard of in Wasilla and as Governor.
Hutchinson and other candidates would not have responded in this way.
She is clearly not ready for the Presidential status she aspires to and cannot be let to have this position for the sake of the nation. This is not only valid and obviously true, but must be understood by anyone who cares about the future of this nation.
McCain is 72 and has had 4 treatments for cancer. Palin is not only unprepared, but likely to be overwhelmed by the provocations that regularly come to the President and cannot plausibly respond to issues in economic or any other area of substantive policy.
If we blindly stagger into this through the usual gathering at the trough of excitement, we will not only have a potential tragedy in the making, but a final aspect of America consuming itself through its fascination with novelty and short-term thinking in the face of an utterly unprepared holder of the nation’s highest office.

Yeah! Finally! Can the newscasters just stop giving him free airtime if he won’t answer any questions? He and his newfound lying vice presidential candidate should have to have at least one press conference a week for pete’s sake!!!
What’s up with the media NEVER calling this “good ol’ boy” out?

It is about time they brought this up. Palin gets a lot of press and won’t answer to anything. She won’t answer questions, she wants to bail out of the troopergate investigation. When does she have to answer questions? The reason is clear. She doesn’t know any answers besides the few they have taught her to regurgitate on commmand. Robopolitician.

Political Radar: Where are you on this one?
***BOMBSHELL***
WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.
According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.
“He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington,” Zebari said in an interview.

Tina – you are sighting an OPINION piece from a conservative paper by a man whose credibility has been debunked by every reputable news organization.
Amir Taheri is a notorious fraudster. He was once powerful under the Shah’s regime but now is an Iranian exile and neocon shill. Taheri has been exposed repeatedly for simply making things up to fit his political agenda. For example, in May 2006 he published a report in the National Post (Canada) falsely stating that a new Iranian law required Jews to wear special clothing and yellow patches to identify themselves in public. The paper had to retract the story, blaming Taheri, and apologize for it. Taheri’s reputation, already extremely low in 2006, has been in the dirt ever since. – unbossed

Tina – Where on earth do you dig up this baloney? Do you just make it up as it comes to you or is there a Limbaugh/Hannity web site somewhere. The best thing in the world electionwise for Obama would be for a troop withdrawal. McCain would be floored since he wants there for quite a while becuase of the oil. Keep trying though. Surely you can come up with something at least partially believable like Obama is really a terrorist, or was born in Kenya or is a Muslim or something…

McCain does do interviews with press who have not turned out to be 100% biased for the other candidate, which means there might be enough of those left to fill a thimble.
As for Governor Palin, why should she give interviews??
There’s enough people going around digging into her private affairs, and hacking her personal emails, and claiming that they know what she’s all about anyway without anything to back it up, so what’s left for her to say?
The press takes everything she does say, even though she’s making valid points and speaking intelligently, and twists it around to try and make it sound as nonsensical as possible.
The most ironic part to all this is that the press continuously ridicules Palin’s degree in Journalism, but to hear some of the stories the pro-Obama media churns out these days, Palin’s degree would appear to be more of an education than most of the idiots reporting on this election have had.
So like I said, why should either one of them bother?

Palin is suddenly boring. She’s just the next in a long line of Republicans ducking an investigation, so the new and fresh is gone.
So now all McCain has on his hands is a running mate who can’t be trusted to stray off her talking points.
But they say she’s a quick study, so I’m sure she’ll know those talking points well by debate time.

McCain himself has no understanding and intelectual strength to lead America. He is know for his very low IQ and with his age and health conditions, the whole situation becomes scary. PALIN (McCains intern) AS MAVERICK WANTS TO PUT THE FEDERAL PAYCHECK ONLINE
There’s just one problem with proposing to put the federal checkbook online – somebody’s already done it. His name is Barack Obama.
In 2006 and 2007, Obama teamed up with Republican Sen. Tom Coburn to pass the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act, also known as “Google for Government.” The act created a free, searchable web site – USASpending.gov — that discloses to the public all federal grants, contracts, loans and insurance payments.

Obama’s been campaigning – what, 22 months. How many unscripted (yes, that means no teleprompter, no bank of flags in the background) interviews has Obama had? He wouldn’t field questions on Wright, he still doesn’t field questions from the press, except on few occasions. One of the few times he did have an “interview” he stomped off after 8 questions.

Of course nothing she has said has turned out to be true, so she’d just be lying to the press as well. The American people must decide for themselves–those who hide from the press have something to hide. Those who won’t testify before the legislature have something to hide.

Palin’s hiding from the press is a calculated strategy by Republicans. Let the clamor start and they say the press is biased. Meanwhile, she skates to the debates without being asked tough questions. They don’t want the newness of her candidacy worn off. Meanwhile, McCain can’t seem to separate himself from her. This is either because he doesn’t trust her to campaign alone or he is afraid he will be upstaged because no one can get excited about his candidacy. I am in complete agreement with Biden. Shirking the press does not serve democracy well. The funny thing is…I think the country is finally catching on except for the lock-step core conservatives.

ARAH PALIN’S SECURITY CLEARANCE
Before you dismiss the fact that Sarah Palin is Commander of the
Alaska National Guard, consider this:
Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor
defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska
National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from
ballistic missile attacks. Its on permanent active duty, unlike
other Guard units.
As governor of Alaska , Palin is briefed on highly classified
military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her
exposure to classified material may rival even Biden’s and
certainly by far exceeds Obama’s.
She’s also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense
Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into
Homeland Security’s counterterrorism plans.
Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to
the entire country’s defense. Given Alaska’s proximity to Russia ,
she may have security clearances we don’t even know about.
According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in
February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to
keeping secrets.
She can be entrusted with our national security, because she
already is.

This is a very important point! The difference between our country and dictatorships is a free press. You may not like all the news outlets, but without them we are lost. Certainly, encourage them to play fairly, but with an array as diverse as Fox News to the Daily Show, the truth will always come out! Wrap that in your flag, because freedom of the press should be the first battle cry of a true patriot!

Nice try, “b”, but Palin’s lack of qualifications have little to do with her being a woman, just as her supposed qualifications (except for having ovaries). Were she a man (Dan Quayle comes to mind), she’d be just as unqualified for the job — scarier, since her chances of becoming president during a McSame First Term (God forbid that McSame should be elected), are a lot higher than Quayle’s were.
Palin’s being picked as VP Nominee was ALL ABOUT her being a woman, and she’s used her gender when it suits her, while using it as a shield to legitimate criticism.
Judging from the latest polls, the American Public knows the difference between Sarah Palin and a qualified candidate is more than just lipstick!

She’s BACK…..
Michelle Obama asked voters Thursday to make their choice on the issues, not because, “I like that guy” or, “she’s cute.”
Might she be talking about Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin?
“I’m talking about me,” she said with a smile.
And while she was at why didn’t she say “African-Americans shouldn’t vote for Obama just because he is black?”

vicki – that’s right, the view would never even let McCain talk before they would talk-over and interrupt, other than Elizibeth. obama and his wife go on and are only asked question about their upbringing and their family experience out on the campaign trail and told how good looking they supposedly are! their politcal question’s we’re nothing but liberal talking points and very few! McCain was just drilled start to finish with nothing but disrespect! Cindy McCain is an example of beautiful woman inside and out along with Elizibeth, and that’s what you saw from them, not a bunch of hateful attack’s just trying to make McCain look inept. so that really did nothing but make the wanna-be ladies look inept themselves. i really think the whole cast are jealous of Cindy and Elizibeth. what i thought was funny was when Elizibeth called barbara out on her hypocrisy, that was classic, lol!

The Obama campaign countered the Mccain campaign with a proposal for the town hall meetings and when it wasn’t EXACTLY what Mccain wanted, the Obama camp said thanks, but no thanks. McCain can’t even show diplomacy or negotiation on his town halls. McCain then used that opening to begin his campaign of lie and smear your way to the White House.

You know McCain has been in the senate for a long time, and he is a republican, so while the republicans ruled the roost they let this country get to where it is today, but Last night Rove blamed the Democrats, how could that be when they along with John McCain deregulated everything? All I know is over the last 8 years our country has gone bellied up, but prior to that we Americans were doing good, did not owe China one red cent, today we owe them billions. Republicans did not pentalize Companies taking jobs overseas, matter of fact they gave them tax cuts, wow the Rich got Richer and greedier. People have no jobs, because not only do they have to train the people oversea taking over these jobs what a slap in the face to Americans, but thier are no jobs to take. Unemployment is at a all time high. Then you have the Housing crisis dirty dealings at major bank because the Republicans are agaist oversights, Same thing with the stock market. I wonder what party these so call CEO’s and other tops Company EX’s are. I mean millions in exit packages even from a failing company? Whens the last time any of you received a million dollar exit package when the company was doing great or poorly? Over 7 years of Republican rule in the White House, Senate, and house and now they want to tell us how they will change, actions speak louder than words, and those words are mostly lies. This White House has been the most secretive, you have Tortures, you have wire taps, your have over the top Executive privileges, you have treason (for outing a CIA agents) you have Big Oil in on Energy policies.
This is how your Republican Leader treat our Services Men and women
Two years ago, a D.C. federal judge awarded 17 American POWs and their families nearly $1 billion in damages for the torture they endured under the Saddam Hussein regime during the 1990-91 Gulf War.
But in 2003, the Bush administration, which had just begun fighting a new war with Iraq, intervened, claiming that the president should be able to shield Iraq from civil judgments.
Last year, a three-judge panel for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit sided with the Bush administration and threw out the judgment and dismissed the case. The court acknowledged that the POWs “endured this suffering while acting in service to their country,” but said “[n]evertheless, we cannot ignore … that [the POWs] were not legally entitled to this judgment.”
The POWs are now appealing Acree v. Republic of Iraq and United States of America to the Supreme Court, which will decide at its Friday conference whether to hear the case.
“I experienced torture, mock executions, confinement in a filthy environment,” said a visibly emotional Col. Clifford Acree at an April 7 press conference. Acree spent 47 days in captivity after his aircraft was shot down the first day of the war.
Politicians across the political spectrum, including Sens. George Allen, R-Va., Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, and Patty Murray, D-Wash., have rallied around the POWs.

She calls herself his “partner”–and this is a vice-president!
She also spoke of the “Palin-McCain” administration today.
If she respected his authority, called him “sir,” didn’t retch at his embrace, she wouldn’t be quite so revoltingly offensive. But she’s too proud for that. A real traditional woman. Not.
It’s all over the web: McCain has been emasculated.

Here’s how you do it:
Step 1, Jewish group invites Palin and Hillary to non-partisan protest against the murderer Ahmadinejad.
Step 2, Instruct Hillary to angrily cancel appearance, and express great outrage over being “used” by Palin and GOP.
Step 3, Bully and threaten said Jewish group into dropping Palin, so that protest will not be “partisan event.”
Step 4, Complain loudly to the press that McCain does not have Palin show up at events outside of campaign.
See what I did there?
I learned that little trick at The Mayor Richard Daley School of Political Thuggery.

Hunter Biden and his lobbying firm, Oldaker, Biden & Belair, have represented colleges and hospitals, mainly in an effort to secure money for them in appropriation bills. In June, however, Biden also signed on as a lobbyist for a law firm that represents a billionaire couple who run an Internet gambling business. The lobbying documents on file with the Senate Public Records Office show that Biden intended to lobby on the “legality of internet gaming” and the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, which Congress passed in 2006.
The law firm, Sharp & Barnes, represents Russell DeLeon and his wife Ruth Parasol, according to lobbying records. The couple was listed as having a net worth of $1.8 billion in 2006 and made the Forbes top billionaire’s list. They dropped out of the list the following year. Forbes reported that a congressional crackdown on online gaming caused their company stock to fall 75 percent.
Biden’s letter ending his lobbying work was first reported Friday by The Wall Street Journal’s Washington Wire.

It is high time that the American people demand that Palin/McCann (sic) answer the hard questions. The global economy is in a critical condition and we have to be sure that they have the capabilities to deal with the issues. Come on, America! Get on your feet and demand a real press conference!
Posted by: Mark | September 19, 2008, 7:25 am 7:25 am
Bree Wescott you are not a democrat, for if you were you would want to know the truth about both candidates. You would want to know thier finance, by ALL of them releasing thier tax returns. Palin has not. You would want to know if there was dirty dealing in previous jobs. Troopergate – First Palin is for the investigation now is not. Hubby is not going to honor the subpoena, sound familiar? You and I would go to jail if we refused. For the Bridge now is not, took a pay cut, but really did not. Put the plane on E-Bay, but would not sell so hired a broker. You would want the candidates to tell you straight how they are going to help American get back on tract after 8 years of a corrupt Administration. I am still wondering who the Three candidates are the Rove was referring to, McCain, Palin, Obama? As we know people hate those that flip flop on issues, remember Kerry? Now we have both McCain and Palin flipping, even on the ticket per Palin. Her own words that is what we are going to do on a Palin/Mcain White house. But the funny thing is they never give details.

I am asking everyone to email a note to Senator Boxer who is the head of the Senate Ethics Committee to ask him to investigate Sen Obama breaking the Logan Act in his attempt to get Iraq to not withdrawl troops until he took office. This is a well known story with Iraqi saying he requested it. Here is the note I sent. you can put your name in place of mine at the bottom. Please make sure you include your name and state and county at the bottom. You can exclude pumapac if you desire. Please do a bcc or blind copy if you can to prowl@pumapac.org
The more people who do this the better chance we have of getting some action on this terrible act of treason and selfishness allowing people to maybe die in a war so he could be elected. Everyone is invited to come to blog.pumapac.org a place where the common person is trying to have his voice hear. A super friendly place. please pass this around to other blog sites that might attract people to join in this effort.

SUBJECT: Obama in violation of Logan Act!

PumaPac.org
Contact: Murphy@pumapac.org
Dear Member of the Senate Ethics Committee,
I am writing to request that you open an investigation into the actions of Senator Barack Obama with regard to his July visit to Iraq. News reports, as well as the statements from Senator Obama’s own campaign, confirm that Senator Obama attempted to negotiate a plan for troop withdrawals and a framework for the American presence in Iraq in such a way as to benefit him politically. This is clearly an unethical way for a member of the United States Senate to act, using his status and leverage as a Senator and prominent candidate to undermine the Administration and to benefit his own political career. It also appears to be a direct violation of the Logan Act.
From the Logan Act:
“Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.”
I am a member of Puma PAC, People United Means Action (http://pumapac.org). We are the Voice of the Voters in the Democratic Party and we strongly oppose Senator Obama’s selection as our Party’s nominee. We believe he is an unethical politician, disloyal to the fundamental values of our democracy.
Thank you for your consideration and time.
Sincerely,
first initial and last name and county state
Puma PAC Democrat

Give me a break. Senator Obama declined to engage Senator McCain in a series of town hall meetings because the very junior senator from Illinois needs to stick to the carefully crafted “change” speeches on his teleprompter. Obama’s handlers carefully protect him from too much intercourse with the press. So what’s his complaint?

She can stare down a moose!
She claims she is fiercer than a pit bull!
She wants us to believe that she could lead the country.
She wants us to believe she can go toe to toe with our advisories from Iran, China, Russia, Venezuela and so on, if God forbid she were to become President.
She wants us to believe she’s soooo tough…
Yet she’s intimidated by the press, and won’t take their questions.
Am I missing something?

So Biden has done 70 press conferences but is winning little extra votes. If a product is lousy, advertisements won’t increase sales.
Most media has been found by voters to be so biased and slanted that their opinions now have negative effect.
Why should McCain & Palin allow biased and slanted media to interview them? It would be as foolish as “Obama wanting meet Iran’s President unconditionally”.
