Conservatives Rip Media for Palin Coverage
ABC News’ Teddy Davis Reports: Conservative leaders ripped the media on Tuesday for what they view as unfair coverage of John McCain’s running mate.
"Sarah Palin represents everything they hate," said radio talk-show host Laura Ingraham. "Life is the first. Big families. Hunting. Patriotism. Gun ownership. Beating back fat bloated bureaucracy. Holding government accountable. Fighting liberal corruption. Sarah Palin stands for all of these principles that if taken away from the Left, it’s over for them. It’s over."
"They ought to be ashamed of themselves," said Gary Bauer, the founder of the conservative Campaign for Working Families, while pointing to the press risers.
The remarks criticizing the media were made at "The Life of the Party," an event hosted by conservative icon Phyllis Schlafly and the Republican National Coalition for Life. The comments about Palin were the latest sign that her selection as McCain’s running mate may have reignited the "culture wars."
Ingraham charged that the media would have celebrated Bristol Palin, the pregnant 17-year old daughter of the Alaska governor, if she had chosen to have an abortion. Palin announced on Monday that her daughter was keeping the baby and planning to marry the father.
"Look, the cause of life is the dividing line in our culture and it has been for some time now, for decades," said Ingraham. "Sarah Palin is a woman who dared to cross that line. And if Sarah Palin’s daughter, Bristol, had been the daughter of a Democratic candidate for the presidency, or the vice presidency, and if that daughter had come to her mother, or come to us, the public, and had said, ‘look, my choice is to abort the child,’ then that daughter, and that political family, would, we all know, be hailed by the same elites who are launching a blistering assault on this woman and her family."
"The jig is up fellas," she added.
The purpose of Tuesday’s "Life of the Party" event, which was held in St. Paul, Minn., was to honor Palin for being a political figure who "not only talks-the-talk, but walks-the-walk" when it comes to putting "life first."
Before being chosen to be McCain’s running mate, Palin was scheduled to attend Tuesday’s "Life of the Party" event.
The McCain campaign notified Schlafly on Monday night that the presumptive vice presidential nominee would not be attending. Debbie Joslin, a Republican National Committeewoman from Alaska, accepted the "Life of the Party" award on Palin’s behalf.

Paranoid Conservatives…trying took make the media responsible for the public’s interest and surprise at this news.
Anonymous bloggers, or people posting on liberal blogs may have said cruel things about Bristol Palin (though I don’t think any of the more established blogs have anything less then respectful of the Palin’s).
Are conservative commentators upset that his out-of-wed lock, teenage pregnancy was revealed at all? That’s hardly the “liberal media’s” fault. The liberal media didn’t announce Bristol Palin’s pregnancy, the liberal media didn’t MAKE Bristol pregnant. So, what are conservatives upset about. That the pregnancy has received attention at all?

Holy,Holy republians almight, non sinful people, when ever you are caught in your sinful ways, you start calling people names, this time around you are not getting away with this. 17 year old pregant out of wedlock, what about that.

Next Laura Ingraham will say its my fault – that I’m the one who had pre-marital sex with Bristol Palin and got her pregnant.
I promise, I’ll do the right thing and marry Bristol…just as soon as I get Obama elected.

I hear you David from Texas! I especially liked Thompsons speech.
What’s important is not a mistake a 17 year old girl made, whats important is the future of our country.
The RNC crowd was chanting U-S-A! at the DNCC they were chanting O-B-A-M-A!
That tells me a lot.

I think the media is doing the job that Mccain’s campaign didn’t do: vetting the vice presidential candidate so that we Americans can make an informed choice. Way to go ABC!

This is insane. This type of rhetoric only divides Americans further apart. The fact is, Palin’s daughter is off limits. No one, NO ONE, is questioning her family’s decisions. To suggest that Dems would celebrate an abortion is just f***ing outrageous! The real issue is whether or not you think McCain or Obama is better placed to lead this great country.
Posted by: Blueblob | September 2, 2008, 11:48 pm 11:48 pm
First to the media – Duh? Of course they are biased (different candidates for different networks) with competing agendas. Who is naive and believes that the mainstream media is impartial? They (the media) are fake and the majority of Americans are blinded by party and incapable of critical thinking; this is, of course, a dangerous cocktail. Neo-cons and neo-libs with their personal media megaphones are playing a good number of the American public like fiddles and fools and laughing along the way. Some day, the American public will wake up…but it won’t happen this cycle.
Good Luck.

I am extremely impressed with the Palin family’s handling of this situation. The easy road from a publicity standpoint would have been abortion. They are setting a wonderful example to the world of how to handle an unexpected pregnancy–they are choosing love and life over hate and death.
BTW, KB, the RNC crowd was chanting ‘USA’ because they can set aside politics and know what sacrifice for one’s country means. Those shouting ‘Obama’ sound very cult-ish. Are we electing a president for the nation or for himself? Hmmmm.

The difference between the conservative and liberal families is that a.) the liberal families are less likely to have pregnant unwed teenage daughters since their parents are supporting sex ed in school b.) if there was a pregnant unwed daughter, their mothers would have the good sense not to be exposing their daughter’s tawdry sex lives to run for vp, and c.) if you’re going to cast the first stone on everyone else’s family values that disagee with yours, you better have a hell of a family to protect you from all the stones everyone else is going to throw back at you.

So Sarah Palin is Pastey McBush’s VP choice. Wow! What a testament to women and the “no experience” argument. I know I’ll certainly feel calm if he’s elected because now we know if the old geezer croaks in office, the most powerful leader in the free world will be pretty AND ready to serve. After all, the Big Mac lists her accomplishments as: current PTA member, NRA lifelong member, former mayor, governor of our 48th most populous state, and working hockey-mom. Whew! That mayor’s job of less than two years is a comfort. If we get in pothole discussions with Iran or North Korea, she’s our gal. If there is a dispute over the size of business signs in Pakistan, she’ll know how to resolve it. And with her experience in redrawing boundaries and annexing neighborhoods for better revenue, all our Middle East conflicts will evaporate.
Since her state legislature only meets 90 days a year, she’s had time to exercise AND work on that resume. So what if she can’t list all those things on Joe Biden’s vita like: Harvard Law Review, longtime member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, constitutional law professor, author of the Violence Against Women Act (which federalized domestic violence as a crime) state senator, and is the ranking Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee? Heck, she looks smart, and she’s young, too. We can cross our fingers that she can do OJT.
And thank goodness she has five kids, one of whom is five months old with Down’s syndrome. Can’t beat that. As a 44-year-old who doesn’t believe in birth control, maybe she’ll even have a few more. Take her “abstinenance only” stand. That sure is the way to go; just ask her 17-year-old-daughter! Mrs Palin (she’d never go by Ms) will have a big heart about making sure all our children in the USA have health care, and that all our single moms will have the benefit of a husband who can stay at home while they’re working out of town. Come to think of it, she’ll probably throw in a nanny tax credit for the poor. Now that’s progress!
I’m also so happy that finally we have a politician that hasn’t frequented prostitutes or had affairs. Between salon appointments, she’s been too busy seeing that schools teach creationism, and that is just ducky. Now that we know the Earth has only been around for 6,000 years (it says so in Genesis), no child will be left behind, and their test scores will go way up because they won’t have so much history to learn. Yippee!
Best of all, she’s a former beauty pageant runner-up which ensures that the Miss America and Miss Universe competitions will once again get the major network Saturday nights’ exposures they used to have before those damn feminists messed things up. I’m so glad Johnny Mac realized that any broad is a broad, and what their position on any issue is is irrelevant. Just think, one can vote against the major women’s issues of the last two decades and still make it to runner-up Prez! As long as dames have designer glasses, good legs and a regular period, they’re interchangeable. And I’ll betcha a Starbuck’s gift card that Palin can whip up a double light espresso with a touch of cream and cinnamon faster than you can say, “June Cleaver.”
Choosing Anita Bryant, er, Sarah Palin was a stroke of genius. That’ll show them damn Hillary fans that can’t make up their mind. Attention everyone…. good ole maverick John McCain IS progressive and anti-Washington, and when that call comes at 3AM, he has now shown that he’s not afraid to make a quick decision and take a risk.
Lord help us.

Obama believes in the teachings of the Black Liberation Church. Obama believes in the teaching of Bill Ayers, the terrorist. Obama believes in the political/business arrangements of Tony Rezko. Obama does not believe in decency and hard working Americans who chose to live on their own through responsibility. Obama believes in socialism and communism and Black Power.

The Republicans believe they are never to be put under the media review. If you have doubt, look at the way the Bush Administration functioned with a disregard for oversight; they have the gall to disregards Congressional subpoenas. Sara Palin is an unknown and he media has the Fourth Estate responsibility to inform the American people about this person. If John McCain made a mistake, so be it as the media vetting process is working. The Republicans need to show maturity and stop the whining.

–wtf–You are wrong. The AA girls are much more likely to have babies out-of-wedlock and HIV. Teaching sex education in school has done little to help in that area. All people should be taught self-responsibility. Just say no. There are 3/4 more AA babies born than all other races to very young girls and women who can not even providse for themselves, little on a baby.

Candidates families are off limits? Someone should tell that to John McCain:
Just one example:
McCain famously made a tasteless joke about Chelsea Clinton back in ‘98.
A crude joke about a sitting president’s daughter.
The Washington Post noted that the joke “was too vicious to print.”
You self-righteous, sanctimonious right-wingnuts, get over yourselves, vicious personal attacks and slander of Democratic politicians and their families is really all you do. Laura Ingraham has built her entire career on personal attacks.
======================================
“Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno.”
– Sen. John McCain, speaking to a Republican dinner, June 1998.
Chelsea was 18-years old at the time.

Hey Palin Fans!
Sarah has a nut case Pastor too!! His name is Ed Kalnins.
A review of recorded sermons by Ed Kalnins, the senior pastor of Wasilla Assembly of God since 1999, offers a provocative and, for some, eyebrow-raising sketch of Palin’s longtime spiritual home.
That means there are videos!!!!
The church runs a number of ministries providing help to poor neighborhoods, care for children in need, and general community services. But Pastor Kalnins has also preached that critics of President Bush will be banished to Hell…
Questioned whether people who voted for Sen. John Kerry in 2004 would be accepted to heaven, he charged that the 9/11 terrorist attacks and war in Iraq were part of a war “contending for your faith;” and said that Jesus “operated from that position of war mode.”
And if the political storm over Barack Obama’s former pastor Jeremiah Wright is any indication, Palin may face some political fallout over the MORE controversial teachings of Wasilla Assembly of God.
Gee, I remember the fuss all you Republicans made about Obama’s Rev. Hope you don’t mind if we do the same thing, OK!!!
Palin, the GIFT that keeps on giving!!!
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!!!!!!!!!!!!

“The easy road from a publicity standpoint would have been abortion.”
Are you kidding me? This is how a Republican looks at this highly charged, personal, and difficult ethical decision – from “the standpoint of publicity?”
Let me to offer a Democratic perspective on what would have been easy on Bristol Palin “from a publicity standpoint” – if her mother, knowing that her daughter was pregnant had spared her the public spotlight by turning down McCain’s offer to run as the Republican nominee for VP.
“Abortion works from a publicity standpoint”
My God, that really turns the stomach.

I must say that the treatment of Gov Palin and her family by the radical element of the fringe left has been disgusting. I think the character assassination and rush to judgment that is going on before even knowing her is the epitome of the dangerous partisan blinders the lemmings on each side of the aslie have on today. Unfortunate.
I’m not a believer in some of Palin’s views but I’ve seen more attacks on her personal views with no regard to how that may contrast with the way she actually chooses to govern.
Example
Creationism: Do I believe in intelligent design…yes. Does Gov. Palin, yes. Do I think the schools should decide whether or not creationism should be taught in schools or whether evolution should? No. Does Gov Palin? No, she thinks parents should make that decision, either way…so do I. Of course that is not how Gov. Palin’s views are framed.
Moreover, I credit Obama for being on what I see was the right side of the Iraq war policy…McCain the wrong side. But, what the left chooses to ignore is that Obama’s foreign policies are hawkish and he is definitely an interventionist similarly to McCain. He is not an antiwar candidate, he is an Anti(Iraq)war candudate (of which I applaud). He is for pre-emptive wars, as is McCain. I imagine Palin will now have to fall inline with McCain’s (and Obama’s) interventionist foreign policies as well….that is unfortunate. Obama voted FOR the Patriot Act….FOR it Dems….I say again…he voted in FAVOR of the Patriot Act…let’s ignore that eh? We all know the balatant warmonger McCain is for it. Obama voted FOR the Cheney energy policy…FOR it. Is that an ignorable offense as well, left?
Neo cons and Neo libs….your days are numbered….Neo Cons your days are numbered sooner than the Neo Libs, thank your buddy GW for that.
Good Luck.

Is Mrs. Palin qualified to be our VP? Yeh, if this was the Bahamas where you only deal with unruly tourists. You can see all over McCain’s face that he was not tooo pleased to pick her. It will come out later that he was forced into it by the Rove/Cheney machine. There will finger pointing all over the place in Nov. But it’s McCain’s fault, he’s too old to be making important decisiones that could cost the lives of thousands just like Bush. If he really would serve his country, he would step down and go back to Arizona, or Hawaii, or Florida or wherever his homes are.
Posted by: all | September 3, 2008, 12:43 am 12:43 am
I am sorry, but Palin DOES NOT represent us! This is exactly what we DON”T NEED right now! Failed family values, a mother who cares more for career than raising her children properly, possible incestuous relations between Mr. Palin and Bristol, underage sex, questionable campaign contributions, dubious relating of facts/fiction regarding the so-called birth of the Down syndrome baby…the list goes on and on!
This all adds up to a complete melt-down of American values.
To blame the liberals for this unfortunate chaos is ludicrous. Women are the root of evil and blame here!
Women cannot run families and careers! I know it! I am grateful I still stay at home and manage the homefront!
Real conservatives know what I mean. Even this excuse for a conservative Ingraham and that other failure Schlafly are a farce.
Women, go home, raise the kids, do the laundry and cook dinner! That’s it! We don’t need you gals doing anything else but that, and maybe looking pretty on a Saturday evening for your man if that’s not too much to ask.
So-called conservative women are ruining American family values far more than the liberals!
Al Gore would make a better McCain running mate than this fiasco!
Good God people. Get your heads on straight or the Chinese will be all over us before we realize it!
Wake Up America!!! Women GO HOME!

What does that matter, what does being a POW for 5 years 40 Years ago have to do with running a country in the 21st Century?? WHAT? PLEASE INFORM ME!!
TALK ABOUT THE POW CARD BEING PLAYED, these fools have the whole deck out!!!

“Sarah Palin represents everything [liberals] hate,” said radio talk-show host Laura Ingraham…
And then Ingraham lists a number of positions that could apply to pretty much anyone, and has nothing to do with party affiliation.
“Life is the first” (Catholic Democrats)
“Big families” (what was Bobby Kennedy’s party again?)
“Hunting” (Democrats do hunt, though they may not be prance around announcing the fact to the world)
“Patriotism” (get over yourselves, Thomas Jefferson, the first Democrat, wasn’t a patriot?)
Beating back fat bloated bureaucracy. (who in their right mind would want a bureaucracy that is fat and bloated)
“Holding government accountable” (it is the Bush adminstration that has been avoiding accountability, it is the Nixon administration that we, Democrats , finally held accountable)
Fighting **liberal** corruption. (Have you no shame, does the name Abramow mean nothing to you?)
“Sarah Palin stands for all of these principles that if taken away from the Left, it’s over for them. It’s over.”
What garbage. Someone would have to be pretty stupid to take anything this buffoon Laura Ingraham says seriously. But many Republicans do worship her, hmmmm….

I also caught Thompson’s speech. It was so “fresh” to hear Sen. McCain’s experience as a P.O.W. rehearsed for us one more time. I think I’ve gotten it down, though I’ve forgotten why we keep hearing it. Even Thompson said “Being a P.O.W. does not qualify you to be President”.
One strange note: Why mention McCain’s offbase, bartending girlfriend “Red Hot Chili Mamma” (or whatever her name was, and not mention how McCain dumped his first wife, a woman who lost her beauty in a car crash that left her crippled, in order to run off with Cindy, a beer heiress half-half his age. Since the only reason we ARE being given to vote for McCain is his biography, why isn’t this episode mentioned? Doesn’t the American public deserve the whole picture?

Palin’s Management Style is to Bully and Demand Political Loyalty. Palin’s tenure as mayor of Wasilla was marred by tremendous staff turnover, first when she fired most of the top staff — including the city’s librarian — because she questioned their loyalty, and then later when staff quit because of her micromanaging style.
Wasilla even lost the opportunity to hire a police chief because he said the job seemed too political.
Imagine what she could do if she had real power?? Scary….

How can reasonable, small-government, fiscal conservatives remain members of the current Republican party? I consider myself a pragmatic independent and there is no way that I’d vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin. This white trash display by the Republican party is getting nauseating. I just want it to go away at this point. These people can’t possibly be elected to represent the United States.
The Democrats should sweep into power in a big way this November and it serves the Republicans right. The Republicans need to clean house and decide if religious cuckoo votes are the only ones they want. Or maybe it’s about time that we have a viable third party for disaffected conservatives and fiscally conservative independents.

Palin as a Small Town Mayor…
The 1996 campaign for mayor of her hometown, Wasilla — Palin was a far more conventional politician. In fact, according to some who were involved in that fight, Palin was a highly polarizing political figure who brought partisan politics and hot-button social issues like abortion and gun control into a mayoral race that had traditionally been contested like a friendly intramural contest among neighbors.
At some point in those fractious first days, Palin told the department heads they needed her permission to talk to reporters. “She put a gag order on those people, something that you’d expect to find in the big city, not here,” says Naegele.
“She flew in there like a big-city gal, which she’s not. It was a strange time, and [the Frontiersman] came out very harshly against her.”
Stein says that as mayor, Palin continued to inject religious beliefs into her policy at times. “She asked the library how she could go about banning books,” he says, because some voters thought they had inappropriate language in them.
“The librarian was aghast.” That woman, Mary Ellen Baker, couldn’t be reached for comment, but news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire Baker for not giving “full support” to the mayor.
My God, What will she be like if she gets real power??? Scary!!!

Palin and her family have been smeared relentlessly by the hard left and nearly the entire mainstream media this past week. McCain really caught them off guard and they are livid. Obama could have chosen a woman VP, but decided instead to go with a six-term Senator to represent his message of “change.” Since the announcement of Palin, the left sensed the damage this would cause and has become completely unhinged. Obama operatives are actively planting smears and talking points on multiple left wing blogs. Anything that terrifies the left is something we need much more of. Palin connects with common, decent people. She’s an extremely smart and popular governor who is fiercely independent and fights corruption wherever she sees it. The real unknown is not Palin, who already has an impressive record of accomplishments. The unknown is Obama. What do we really know about him beyond his rhetoric at the Temple of Zeus? Nothing. He’s a man with a murky past who the media purposely protects and promotes. He is an unprincipled elitist whose world views have been shaped by communists, socialists, terrorists, indicted fundraisers, anti-American preachers, and Chicago thugs. But somehow those associations aren’t newsworthy. Palin’s daughter! Now that’s important to our country’s future! The press has spent much more effort in the past five days digging up dirt on Palin than they ever spent unraveling Obama’s past and connections to radical organizations (like ACORN, the masters of voter fraud) in the past 19 months! You can’t make this stuff up. I’ll make a prediction. If by some fit of insanity Americans do elect Obama, you will quickly see a REAL case of buyer’s remorse unprecedented in our history. I’ve done a lot of research on Obama and his policies (since the media refuses to) and he is not who people think he is. He will, in lockstep with our incompetent Congress, run our wonderful country straight into the ground in short order. And his supporters will say in a state of shock, “How did we not know?” Mark my words.

ClassicalLiberal:
Did I understand you right – you are trying to pass yourself off as a high-minded, “rational”, non-partisan deep thinker, but you believe in “Intelligent Design”!!!
You then suggest that allowing “parents to choose” what to teach is “the reasonable, non-partisan position?”
Climb off your the pedestal you alone placed yourself on.
Intelligent Design is a fiction made up by creationists who want to pass off their fantasy as “science” (i.e. I.D. is snake oil). Creationism has as much scientific standing as flat-earth theory.
We do not leave it up to parents what science to teach their children. Should parents have the right to teach their children “flat-earth theory” or “the sun revolves around the earth” if that is what they choose.
That isn’t rational, nor is it “non-partisan”, nor by the way is it “classical liberalism”, it is NONSENSE.
Please, take the time to inform yourself before you start pontificating;

I read the article, it looks like someone is guilty of fraud, but is is not at all clear that it wasn’t just poorly trained or corrupt individuals acting on their own.
The story does clearly deserve further investigation. It would be nice to get a comment from Obama if, as you say, he still has close ties with ACORN.

One point:
of course one should note, on the other hand, that Gov. Palin and her husband was once were members of the Alaska Independence Party, a political party committed to secession from the United States. Gov. Palin recently gave a speech to the organization (she is no longer a member) in which she encouraged them to continue in their efforts, and wished them every success. That IS rather scandalous.

Obama was correctly labeled last night as the most liberal and inexperienced candidate to ever run for President.
And, the media continues their feeding frenzy in attempts to discredit Sarah Palin.
Pathetic…

This is fantastic! Sarah Palin has libarals, socialists, marxists, leninists, and other hate amarica thugs, i.e democrats, in a flat spin and their MSM agents are at a loss on what to do about it.

It seems the supporters of McCain/Palin in this forum provide the only level-headed, calm posts.
Why all the mean-spirited, undocumented rants from the opposition? Why the blistering attacks on the personal lives of Republicans only? Could it be you fear what is coming to pass?
McCain/Palin will win this election.
It will be a blow-away win.
Wait til you see people come out of the woodwork to vote for decency.
If I want to talk about Obama’s lack of experience, support of abortion and infanticide (gee, you’d think that would disqualify him for the race right there–he supports leaving live babies to die in the event of a ‘botched abortion’ because maybe, just maybe in the future saving that one little life would endanger some woman’s ‘right to choose (death)’ in the future. Yeesh. Talk about extremist—-at least I can say that in a coherent way and don’t go for slander and gossip.
Incidentally, when you bash Sarah’s kids you leave the door open for all to scrutinize Obama’s parenting ability. Well, any parent who would consider a baby as a ‘punishment’ as Obama has, and who would support the killing of such, isn’t the kind of Dad WE want in the White House. How can HE possibly lead our country when he can’t even stick up for the most vulnerable of American citizens? And by the way, from what I’ve seen on T.V., his kids aren’t the best-behaved either. But you see, because they are children, I realize they are ‘works in progress’ and I’m going to assume Obama is well-intentioned and at least TRYING to teach them to behave, which is less than you give the Palin parents. It’s just common decency to be civilized and assume that parents want the best for their children, even if that doesn’t manifest itself in ideal behavior always.
People speak as you do when their logical arguments hold no water. You sound fanatical to me.
Please stick to real issues.
And here’s one more request: please stop judging Sarah Palin’s parenting abilities. If y’all parent the way you post, our next generation is in HUGE trouble.

“Sarah Palin represents everything they hate,” said radio talk-show host Laura Ingraham.
Ingraham is so far off the mark, and the whining isn’t becoming.
Its true the media attention has been fierce, and a little on the unfair side. But it has nothing to do with Palin and what she represents. It has everything to do with the media not knowing Palin, and her introduction being flubbed so badly by the McCain campaign which seemingly didn’t vet her.
The attention on the daughter has been off base – though driven by the campaign itself. The attention on the ethics investigation, her past positions and how they contradict from the storyline, and her involvement with a secessionist fringe party are completely warranted.
Posted by: Paul | September 3, 2008, 8:57 am 8:57 am
And make no mistake about it – the Republicans are expressing faux indignation over the daughter to distract attention away from the truly odd stuff.
They know, for instance, if this stuff about the Alaskan Independence Party turns out to be true, Palin may well have to drop from the ticket.

HaHa John.
No, I have never claimed to be a “Classical Liberal” in the purest form, but it is the closest idealogy that represents my views. I am quite familiar with classic liberalism, thank you.
Yes, evolution theory, yes, still theory, does have the support of many scholars and I understand why it is taught but that doesn’t change my view that if a parent decides to choose to teach their child creationism, they should be allowed to do so. I do NOT think creationism should be solely taught in public schools…I don’t think their should be a public school system, that has proven to a complete failure, but thats another subject.
As far as partisanship…what do you know about the basis for my view? It has nothing to do with any party view. Do you need to look up what partisanship means in order to inform yourself before you start pontificating, on your pedestal?
“We do not leave it up to parents….”
“We” – meaning you and your collectivist friends – should go back to your collectivist minds, comrade.

Personally, I don’t think John McCain could have master-minded this any better!
With the announcement of Sarah Palin on Friday, and the media scrambling around for every bit of information they can find about her ever since, with all of the revelations of the last couple of days, and with them safely tucking her away for the two or three days before her big speech, I think McCain and his campaign have pulled off the biggest public relations coup of the entire campaign…..
With all of the curious george’s, looky-loos, and scandal mongerers waiting to pounce on her every move and utterance, I will bet you a large amount of money that MORE people are watching her speech tonight at the RNC convention than watched Obama’s big “Greek Temple” spectacle last week.

Hey Davis you asked before if there are any Republicans of color well I am one of them. I just like I said yesterday can’t stand the ULTRA-CONSERVATIVE NUTJOBS IN MY PARTY which is why after the whole Palin thing I am now voting for OBAMA!!!!!!! I have just had it with all the white-trash racists in the Republican party that act like they’re better than everyone else and think they have more values than everyone else. I mean come on they’re only a small portion of the party just like the ultra-liberals are only a small portion of the Democratic party. I mean most people are centrist. I consider myself a LIBERAL REPUBLICAN though although I am NOT overly liberal.

Evolution is “only” a theory?
Well, “gravity” is also only a theory (the theory of gravity)
Einstein revolutionized the world of physics with his “special theory of relativity, e=mc2, hear of it?)
These are theories, but they are scientific theories.
Is Intelligent Design a theory? Yes.
Is it a scientific theory? No.
Why is it not a scientific theory?
It is not subject to testing or contradiction.
So, what kind of theory is it?
What kind of theory is never subject to testing by evidence, or the possibility of contradiction by the facts?
A conspiracy theory!;-)
So, Intelligent Design is on par with conspiracy theories. Did you hear the recent conspiracy theory about Sarah Palin being the Grandmother and not the mother of little trig?
I dismiss it has so much rumor-mongering, but since your such a fan of Intelligent Design (a conspiracy theory) and “equal time” I suppose you think the conspiracy theory that Sarah Palin has fraudulent passed her daughter’s first pregnancy off as her own should also get equal play in the MSM….

Dear John Locke
(See what I mean? Is this your real name or do you fancy yourself as a philosopher and believe you are more “enlightened” than the rest of us?)…
The “John Locke” is just a little inside joke that I thought “ClassicalLiberal” would get. Sorry, if you didn’t get it.
Who do I think I am? An ordinary citizen engaging with other posters on this blog in a little give-and-take.
I do try to call-out bloggers who make what seem to me bone-headed or misleading statements, even ClassicalLiberal, whom I think I now recognize is
genuinely not partisan (though I think ClasscialLiberal is wrong about the teaching of I.D.).
My given first name does happen to be John.
You ask: “Are you saying ‘rational’ people don’t believe in God?”
No. For my part, I happen to believe rational people CAN believe in G*d. At least I do.
I do not believe rational people can believe in “Intelligent Design”, which as I said earlier is not a scientific theory, but a fiction made up by creationists who want to use it as a wedge issue – either get it equal time in school, or take the teaching of evolution out of schools.
[see: “Judge rules against ‘intelligent design’ ‘Religious alternative’ to evolution barred from public-school science classes.” if you want of see the
basis of my views. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10545387/
You ask: “How do you explain the intricate workings of the human ear?”
How? Well, I’d say evidence clearly shows the ear evolved through processes of natural selection and random mutation.
How else? How do you explain the intricate workings of the human ear?
Did G*d fashioned the ear out of clay on the sixth day of creation?
You ask: “What about the seasons of the year? We just ‘happen’ to have spring follow winter, then summer and fall….every single year….?”
I’ve joked elswhere that to allow the teaching of I.D. would imply that teaching “flat-earth theory”, or “the theory that the sun revolves around the earth”
should also be taught in schools.
I was joking. How do I explain the seasons of the year?! Ummm…maybe because the earth revolves on its axis around the sun, and at periodic intervals of the course of roughly
365 days different areas of the earth are tilted more closely, or further away from the suns rays”
Do you still believe the Sun revolves around the earth?

That proves he’s even dumber than the liberal left gives him credit for. I’m telling ya, keep Palin, dump McCain! She’s smarter than he is and she’s an actual Republican vs. whatever the hell John calls himself to whoever he’s talking to at any give time. Dump McCain NOW! This is gonna be a freakin’ landslide. ========================================
You argued that the evolution and intelligent design have equal standing as scientific theories,
You went on to argue that neither evolution nor I.D. should be taught in school, but that it should be left up to the parents to teach what they want their children at home.
I don’t know what you think you are saying, but its plain to me you are arguing that since I.D. and Evolution are of equal footing, but they are to controversial to be taught in school, they should BOTH be taken out of school.
That is equal time….i.e. no time for either approach.
But Evolution and I.D. ARE NOT on equal footing. Evolution is a scientific theory, Creationism/I.D. is a fiction, or at best what I’ll call from now on a sub-species of “conspiracy theory”.

“I wrote….”We do not leave it up to parents what **science** to teach their children. Should parents have the right to teach their children “flat-earth theory” or “the sun revolves around the earth” if that is what they choose?”"
Newsflash John…this may come as a surprise to you..
Parents are going to teach their children whatever theories, scientific or otherwise, whether you or I like it or not. So, with that in mind, do I think parents should have the right to decide whether or not their children should be taught “flat earth theory” or any other theory? Of course, because I do not believe in dictating to parents what they should or should not teach their children. You apparently do. If you’d like to talk about the public education system as a whole and/or as it relates to this topic, id be more than happy to…but I do have to get back to being economically productive at work here today. I heard a lot of programs that my productivity will be needing to subsidize the other night from a gentleman standing before a grand Greek temple at a baseball field. I am wagering money that this gentleman will be the new dictator – taking the place of the old dictator – of our united global empire…after all, we have 700 bases around the world to police and protect and I’ve never heard anything from our soon to be new dictator that leads me to believe anything is changing on that front.
Good day.

Newsflash ClassicalLiberal:-)
Your write: “I do not believe in dictating to parents what they should or should not teach their children. You **apparently** do.”
=======================================
1. Apparently? No, I emphatically do not think it is ANYONE’s business, not the neighbor’s nor the government’s business to “dictate” to parents what they should teach their children in the privacy of their homes. The idea that parents should be able to teach their children whatever they want in the privacy of their home – whether scientific or otherwise – well… that’s not even controversial.
I am in fact a Classical Liberal, and I think an individual’s privacy rights are sacrosanct. Let parents teach their children whatever they want – in the privacy of their homes.
But it is the job of the public school system to teach scientific theories, not fictions. Evolution IS a scientific theory, I.D. is not. To put them on equal footing, to imply that they are somehow equivalent, to argue that because of that standing neither explanation should be taught in school is disingenuous.
2. Sorry to take you away from your productive work, it happens to be my day off. I wouldn’t be spending my time on the blogs if it were a work day, but what you do with your time is your business.
Enjoy the rest of your work-day, I’m going to take off, too – and step out into the wonderful sunshine of this miraculous summer day.

Sarah has EXECTUTIVE experience *running a government* (something NONE of the other candidates can actually boast, even John McCain as Governor of Alaska and got there by defeating the *incumbent* Republican Governor, who was definitely part of the “old school” and who WAS very much in the pocket of the big oil companies. We in Alaska wanted change – and we got it in the person of Sarah Palin!
Sarah Palin is everything she looks to be and more. Her approval rating as Governor of Alaska has been as high as 95% and is currently leveled out consistently in the upper 80 percentile throughout the state (and in both parties) – the HIGHEST approval rating of ANY sitting Governor.

Look it just seems to me that the media was caught off guard with this pick and they didn’t know what to do so they improvised and played right into the hands of Obama supporters who were trying to start horrible rumors about Gov. Palin. The reporters sound like the high school students I have. It is a bunch of “he said she said” stuff that really should not have entered the public arena. I know why McCain/Palin supporters are upset with the media, maybe you reporters should step back and listen to yourselves for awhile. The candidates would answer your questions and you would ask the same question again and again. We get it, McCain Gets it! Maybe it is time that the media examine their own actions so they can finally get It!

I like Sarah Palin but I do think she needs to pay attention to her daughter and special needs baby. Her daughter is in crisis. I highly doubt two 17 yr olds will stay married in this day and age. (maybe he feels pressured?) That baby NEEDS her. Unfortunately, she is being swayed by her ego and power. Children NEED their mom. Period. God sent her a big message with her teen daughter’s pregnancy. She obviously wasn’t paying enough attention to her. Yet she continues to plod onward. What message is that sending to her younger daughters? What message does that send to bring her daughter’s boyfriend on the scene? Looks to me like they are rewarding her for their bad behavior. She is not getting this message. Soon another one will appear and she will have to learn. I do hope she wins. I think they will keep us safe. But God help those kids. Nannies don’t compare to your own mom!
