Florida Congressman Regrets Swipe at ‘Gun Toting’ Palin
ABC News’ Teddy Davis and Rigel Anderson Report: Florida Democratic Congressman Alcee Hastings issued a statement Monday indicating that he regrets saying that "gun toting" Sarah Palin "don’t care too much" about Jews and blacks while still maintaining that the policies and priorities of a McCain-Palin administration would be "anathema to most African-Americans and Jews."
“I regret the comments I made last Tuesday that were not smart and certainly not relevant to hunters or sportsmen," Hastings said in his statement. “I regret that I was not clearer and apologize to Governor Palin, my host where I was speaking, and those who my comments may have offended.”
While participating in a panel discussion last week sponsored by the National Jewish Democratic Council (N.J.D.C), Hastings said: "If Sarah Palin isn’t enough of a reason for you to get over whatever your problem is with Barack Obama, then you damn well had better pay attention. Anybody toting guns and stripping moose don’t care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks. So, you just think this through."
Asked last week what the congressman meant, Hastings spokesman David Goldenberg told ABC News that he was trying to argue that Palin is an "extremely conservative woman who is out of touch with mainstream America."
After saying that Palin "don’t care too much" about Jews and blacks, Hastings argued at the N.J.D.C. event that African Americans and Jews should come together behind Obama because there are many issues on which they agree.
"Just like Jews, blacks care about affordable health care, energy independence, and the separation of church and state," said Hastings. "And just like blacks, Jews care about equal pay for equal work, investment in alternative energy, and a woman’s right to choose."
Asked last week about the Hastings criticism, Palin spokeswoman Maria Comella said, "We’re taking a pass."

Ugh – this election really makes me sick.
The Obama supporters are nutjobs, their candidate lacks the appropriate experience and McCain is an old man with old ideas while Palin is much too conservative for the mainstream.
Too bad we can’t vote for the best candidate for the job – Hillary.

Hastings is really representative of all those who charge racism when someone disagrees with their choice of candidate and their candidate’s lack of experience and character. His threatening tone about Sarah Palin is not much different from the rage coming from many of those in all forms of media. We saw that with Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Sarah Palin is just another female target. If she were Samuel Palin, this would be a different story.

Yes, just imagine if someone in McCain’s campaign had spouted off like this?
But at least this guy actually had the guts to make his comments about Palin by name, and not use the back-door “pig is still a pig” comments that Obama and Biden are good for.

Someone from McCain Campaign DID say something like this. In fact, 2 of them said it in this past week. One said that Hispanics will not vote for Obama since they think they are better than Blacks, and the other said that we can’t afford Hispanics becoming the new African American population, feeding off the govt. Support McCain, if you will, but at least stay informed and take your blinders off.

Alcee Hastings is a crook who was removed from the federal bench for corruption and perjury in 1988!
As a federal judge, he was impeached by a Democratic majority House 413 to 3–even Nancy Pelosi voted to charge him–and he was convicted 69 to 26 and thrown off the bench by a Democratic majority Senate.
He shouldn’t be allowed near a government office—except behind bars–much less hold government office!

Well, Alcee Hastings,
Your comments were probably indicative of what is in the innermost corners of your mind.
Too bad that your thoughts had to come out in such divisive and hateful words.
As for me, I am one of those “independent” voters who, as Obama put it, clings to his guns and his religion.
So, Alcee, when you and Obama mock and slander someone like Sarah Palin, who obviously has great respect for Constitutional rights, you mock and slander me and a significant number of voters.
And, Alcee, you reinforce my thoughts about the upcoming Presidential election…
Anybody But Obama/Biden…

This racist, bribe taking moron is typical of the caliber of politicians in the Liberal wing of the Democrat party. William Jefferson, Charlie Rangel, Alcee Hastings all have learned how to play the system to line their own pockets at taxpayers expense. Will the Democrats sack these losers?? Hell no, they’ll canonize them! What a pathetic bunch of crudballs.

The so-called bailout bill just went DOWN in the House vote. Guess the peeps have been keeping the phone wires hot with their Reps. in DC. I know I did when I read that Nancy Pelosi and Dirty Harry had planted a provision for the most racist, corrupt organization in America, ACORN, to receive more than 20 MILLION dollars of taxpayers money. Now we have to get the media to expose Barack Obama’s close ties to this group who have perpetrated VOTER FRAUD in favor of Dems in every election for the past many years. Obama was ACORN’s attorney in Chicago and “mentor’d” the group by holding training sessions for them. The MSM has not even mentioned this but after many emails, Fox News is going to investigate. We need McCain-Palin more than ever. An Obama administration will be a disaster for this country!

One issue Blacks and Jews should consider is that both races were marked for slaughter. The Jews by persecution and the Holocost, and blacks by abortion. Consider this: the founder of Planned Parenthood was a racist who considered black people as weeds to be removed from society. A third of all abortion “patients” are black; a very disproportianate statistic.
And those who do not speak against abortion but condemn German civilians who did not try to stop the Holocost are just as guilty and even condemn themselves. God have mercy on all of us.

Another typical Obama supporter! What a hateful bigot Hastings is! The Obama supporters remind me of rabid dogs – teeth bared, snapping, biting, and drooling – when it comes to McCain-Palin and Republicans, in general. Anyone who dissents is considered to be an enemy and is attacked by these crazies. These vicious people are representative of the nasty, underhanded candidate that Obama is. Are they so sure that the ultraliberal duo of Obama and Biden will be an improvement over Bush-Cheney? Well,I certainly see similarities between the two in how they operate, and I don’t mean that to be complimentary. If Obama is elected, could we be exchanging a conservative “tyrant” for a very liberal one? Obama is such a leftist and so completely removed from mainstream America in his views that I truly fear an Obama Presidency in league with a Democratic-controlled Congress. I certainly hope that enough Americans will wake up and ensure that he gets defeated on the 4th of November.

Unfortunately, 0bama is going to win because he, and other dems, are very effective in diverting blame for the economic crisis away from their party (away from current members of Congress who are directly responsible for this mess) and toward John McCain, as if he single-handedly brought down the American economy. McCain hasn’t done enough to show where the blame actually lies: Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd. Bush and McCain both tried to enact regulation to change the way Fannie & Freddie did business, but Dodd and the democrats in the senate were too busy lining their pockets with money from those institutions, and they didn’t want the gravy train to end. So they ignored the obvious calamity the country was headed for. They ignored the problems they were causing for the tax payers, and they refused to regulate. Now, Obama says the republicans are to blame in his stump speeches, and he even touched on it in the debate. Where is McCain to call him out? Where is he? Why hasn’t he made his case to the people on this? He’s relying on ads that only run in certain states. He needed to talk about it at the debate. He needed to respond, and he still needs to. I’m hoping that there’s some sort of major reveal that’s going to happen soon. Give us something, McCain.

HOW will the average American benefit from the bailout???
The banks/mortgage companies get bailed out by the TAXPAYERS. In turn, they’ll continue with foreclosures so they can claim a *loss* (aka…we don’t have to pay the gov’t on our losses). Then they continue to tighten up on loans, raise credit card interest and decrease credit card limits. THIS is considered the SOLUTION??? For WHO??? For the irresponsible greedy lending companies??? Sounds like a win-win situation for them!
What is in it for the taxpayers??? Why shouldn’t the taxpayers receive a life raft also? Afterall, isn’t it OUR money that’s bailing their sorry assets out? The gov’t should insist that ALL foreclosure’s be wiped off consumer credit reports along with credit card late payments. While they’re at it, they should slash all credit card interest and high interest loans by 1/2. Maybe the greedy companies will better operate within a smaller budget verses *carte blanche!*
It’s time to level the playing field.

Such hypocrisy cannot be tolerated, many many jewish people are gun owners. They might not be mainstream NRA supporters, but they are well armed, and I cannot blame them for not wanting guns for personal protection. Israeli issues have and will continue to have support and encouragement by the politicians in the republican party.
Republicans have done so much for blacks in this countries history. Lincoln gave freedom with his action. GOP introduced civil rights legislation only to be shot down by democrats (southern democrats were very opposed to this type of legislation prior to 1964). The first black man to vote, Thomas Mundy Peterson, a republican, was allowed to vote by the fifteenth amendment, that was sponsored and made into law by GOP legislatures. The first black senator was Hiram Rhodes Revels, another republican. The first black member of the House was Joseph H. Rainey, yet again, another republican. The only black man currently serving on the supreme court, Clarance Thomas, was appointed by George W Bush, another republican. The actions and list goes on and on.
Historically, the KKK was a primarily a democrat organization. With a few of their members being elected into congress into congress under the democrat ticket.
So, when I hear of a Democrat putting down the GOP for lack of support for Jewish people or those of African descent, they obviously have little regard for the history of this country and of those who helped these people in the past and will continue to help them in the future.
And yes, I think Palin thinks about these Jewish and Black people and will continue the legacy that the Republican party has historically shown, that race nor religion is grounds for discrimination.
