‘I Don’t Believe in Coming in Second,’ Obama Tells Bon Jovi Fundraiser
NEWARK, N.J. — Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., hit a couple swanky Garden State fundraisers this evening, starting at the house of Democratic National Committee treasurer Phil Murphy and his wife Tammy.
“Are you guys fired up?” bellowed Gov. Jon Corzine to the $2,300-per-person crowd. “You better be, because I think you’re liquored up!”
Obama again said that the GOP convention didn’t discuss solutions to problems facing ordinary Americans, unlike the Democratic gathering.
“The Republicans had a different approach to their convention,” he said. “They had a different theory, which was that ‘We are just sarcastic. We spent a lot of time talking about John McCain’s admittedly compelling biography, and we spent a lot of time lying about Barack’ — that, somehow that’s a political philosophy or an economic theory.”
Obama told the appreciative crowd, “They don’t have a record to run on, so what they’re going to do is they’re going to try and just tear me down. Because it worked four years ago, and it worked eight years ago, you can’t blame them for trying it again, but I don’t think it’s going to work this time.”
Next stop: the manse of Jon and Dorothea Bon Jovi, or “The House That ‘Young Guns II’ Built.”
“You don’t have to be 72 to have experience,” said the host as he introduced Obama. “It’s the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. This 21st century man has an aura of hope wrapped around him.”
Obama told the $30,800-per-person attendees -– the money goes to a joint Obama campaign-DNC fund — that he hoped they were “up for a fight.”
“I hope you guys are game,” he said, “because I haven’t been putting up with 19 months of airplanes and hotel food and missing my babies and my wife –- I didn’t put up for that stuff just to come in second. I don’t believe in coming in second. The American people can’t afford for us to come in second. We’ve got to win this thing and we’re going to win it with your help.”
Obama said that the assignment of his Republican opponents is “to see if they can snuff out that spirit in this campaign and to knock me down more than one peg,” he said. “The reason that events like this are so important, we’ve got to have the resources and the energy and the determination to say ‘No’ to that. To say ‘enough.’ We’re not going to be bullied, we’re not going to be smeared, we’re not going to be lied about. We’re not going to resort to the same tactics, but we are going to confront them.”
Curiously — "Livin’ On a Prayer," perhaps? — Obama suggested that Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., possibly doesn’t even approve of the campaign he is waging.
“I think some of you saw this week the strategy of the other side,” Obama said. “A strategy that, I’d be willing to venture, that if you asked John McCain, ‘Is this the kind of campaign he intended,’ he might have said, ‘No.’”

Former New Hampshire Republican Senator Robert Smith publicly voiced his concerns, once saying McCain’s temper ‘ … would place this country at risk in international affairs, and the world perhaps in danger’.
That sentiment was echoed by Mississippi Republican Senator Thad Cochran, who told a Boston newspaper: ‘The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine. He is erratic. He is hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me.’

It is wonderful that Senator Obama continues to raise funds and fight this tough fight all the way to the whitehouse. The republican party and republicans show a real character flaw when they love to see a vice presidential candidate and all their speakers belittle Senator Obama and spew hatefulness and vitriol in a sarcastic way. They make themselves very small this way.

I’m still trying to figure out why mccain confused the Packers with the Steelers in July while speaking to a Pittsburgh crowd. He said he used the names of the famous Steelers Defensive line of the 1970′s while being interrogated, too bad these guys weren’t even playing when mccain was being interrogated. He is either going senile or he was trying to pull one over on the Pittsburgh crowd, either way this is BAD news for mc-more-war. When you listen to Obama speak, it’s full of lies. This is a man that was attacking the Reps during their own convention. Now the tide is turned on him, he is now crying like a baby. His speech has been full of empty promises. At least Gov. Palin spoke while the teleprompter was malfunctioning, but Obama would never do that, he has to wait or go off the base until fixed.

Wow, on CNN the trooper told them that the Obama campaign contacted him about his divorce and stuff. He was offered money. I feel sorry for this guy. He is obviously close to the edge. He screwed up and deserved to be fired. The guy who didn’t do his job, got fired, which is appropriate and he tried to contact CNN to get an interview. They are using the tooper and don’t care how it will really affect him. I think that poor guy needs to be left alone. I don’t think this DIVORCE should be very important. Obama has a point. Have you ever heard anyone in the McCain campaign brag about any specific McCain accomplishments during 26 years in Congress?
If people listened and did research at independent sites, Obama has bragged about accomplishment, which have been verified at Fact Check and other places.
Do a search on “The Candidate We Still Don’t Know” August 17, 2008 for an article that provides details about McCain myths that everyone buys, but never checks. The author provides links to sourced that verify the details.

Obama said earlier this week that he “may” use his e-mailing list to ask his supporters to donate to the hurricane victims in the Gulf States.
I have not heard if he actually did.
I did hear today he sent out e-mails to ask for more donations to HIM.

This guy and Bush have had notorious fights and disagreements. McCain is ASKING FOR BIPARTISAN UNITY TO GET THINGS DONE IN WASHINGTON, RAT OUT THE BAD GUYS EVEN IF THEY’RE ON YOUR TEAM. Gov. That last line is very obeservant..
McCain is the man who said in the beginning he just wanted to debate.
He wanted to run like 2000 as an honored Senator vs the new comer with bold new ideas. He wanted to have a real civics race.
But when he was left outside and not gaining traction. The RNC put their people in place and now he is more like John Kerry than I ever thought he would be surrounded by outsiders who are pushing him to do stuff that frankly is not John McCain.
I have attacked Mcain many times in the last week about his lost of honor. The reason is this guy had honor. He had great statesman status. He wanted to what was best for America.
And then about 1 1/2 months ago he relented (likely under extreme party pressure) to go the Bush Rove route of sliming your opponent. He lost his strength of talking about issues. Now his campaign manager claims issues don’t matter. Does that sound like John McCain to you? He lives for issues. He hates personal attacks. Now maybe you can chalk that up to his advantage in compelling biography but I beg to differ. At the end of the day this man cares.
The problem is he is getting bad advice. And when I say bad I mean bad for the country.
John McCain you are a true hero and patriot. Let’s make this race about the issues.

We checked the accuracy of McCain’s speech accepting the Republican nomination and noted the following:
McCain claimed that Obama’s health care plan would “force small businesses to cut jobs” and would put “a bureaucrat … between you and your doctor.” In fact, the plan exempts small businesses, and those who have insurance now could keep the coverage they have.
McCain attacked Obama for voting for “corporate welfare” for oil companies. In fact, the bill Obama voted for raised taxes on oil companies by $300 million over 11 years while providing $5.8 billion in subsidies for renewable energy, energy efficiency and alternative fuels.
McCain said oil imports send “$700 billion a year to countries that don’t like us very much.” But the U.S. is on track to import a total of only $536 billion worth of oil at current prices, and close to a third of that comes from Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom.
He promised to increase use of “wind, tide [and] solar” energy, though his actual energy plan contains no new money for renewable energy. He has said elsewhere that renewable sources won’t produce as much as people think.
He called for “reducing government spending and getting rid of failed programs,” but as in the past failed to cite a single program that he would eliminate or reduce.
He said Obama would “close” markets to trade. In fact, Obama, though he once said he wanted to “renegotiate” the North American Free Trade Agreement, now says he simply wants to try to strengthen environmental and labor provisions in it.

As a state senator, Barack Obama wrote letters to city and state officials supporting his political patron Tony Rezko’s successful bid to get more than $14 million from taxpayers to build apartments for senior citizens.
The deal included $855,000 in development fees for Rezko and his partner, Allison S. Davis, Obama’s former boss, according to records from the project, which was four blocks outside Obama’s state Senate district.
Obama’s letters, written nearly nine years ago, for the first time show the Democratic presidential hopeful did a political favor for Rezko — a longtime friend, campaign fund-raiser and client of the law firm where Obama worked — who was indicted last fall on federal charges that accuse him of demanding kickbacks from companies seeking state business under Gov. Blagojevich.
The letters appear to contradict a statement last December from Obama, who told the Chicago Tribune that, in all the years he’s known Rezko, “I’ve never done any favors for him.’’

If you are concerned about their bias, you should probably note is using them as a resource to slam Obama. They are non partisan and one of the organizations created by Annenberg’s largess whioch yes include the Annenberg Fund that Obam worked on with Ayers.
Feel free to check, they are just as likely to call Obama out on misleadinginfo as any other politician.

Sarah Palin’s speech hit the nail on the head. Obama only refers to victory when he is talking about his campaign. Now this talk from him is only going to reinforce the McCain’s campaign’s point. He should have kept his mouth shut. I see an ad coming his way.

Chicago reported yesterday that the murder rate for this summer was 125. Barack’s community organizer efforts have not helped at all I guess. Perhaps he can go back and finish the job after the election. By the way why doesn’t he send his brother in Africa a few bucks a month? I guess he is not his “brother’s keeper”?. Hillary and Bill stole the Dem convention and Michelle Obama’s face was priceless while Hill gave her speech. I adore her (Hillary) and supported and donated to her. What concept? We are talking about a woman who junketed from one school to another. Six different schools is unbelievable. I think we deserve to know how well she did in college. We need to know how intelligent our future leaders are. Her selection is deeply troubling. The only reason this election is in anyway close is simply because Obama is black period.

And how did he GET one… since Indonesia does NOT honor dual citizenship!
This is a troubling question which comes up time after time….. but which has NEVER.. to my knowledge… been answered.

Now you can see the real skin of that sensational Obama. He was bashing Gov. Palin for no experience and unqualified for Presidency. But he cannot even say one thing better experience and qualification of his own. He said McCain made a poor decision on his choice for Veep just like what the media said. Look he’s even helped by Palin’s speech to raise $10 million dollars because his lieutenant sent an email to his donors because they are in trouble because Palin is better than Obama and Biden combined. You can see in the reports that that’s what Obama is doing – fundraising.
Palin even dumped Obama’s viewers rating during his speech in the convention, which is 38.7 million viewers and it was widely broadcast by the media even comparing it with American Idol Finale and Olympics. Palin’s rating is 37.2 million on Obama’s media without counting PBS and C-SPAN with 4.5 million viewers. It’s more than Obama’s rating wherein he’s been on the limelight for years whereas Palin only 1 week.
Democrats are panicking right now that’s why they need more cash. That’s the only thing they doing – RAISE CASH in the name of the middle-class.
With his media attacking Palin, now including his lieutenants and advisers and Hillary and other ladies of the party to campaign for him… to campaign against Palin. If it’s really true that Palin is nothing, unexperienced and not qualified. Why are they in panich like this? She’s just running against Joe Biden. Who is Joe Biden? A mistake judgment for VP.
Obama even admitted that the surge of the troops in Iraq worked. Simply means, he was wrong in his judgment before about Iraq. This time, at least , he didn’t lie. His choice for Biden is not CHANGE, definitely.
Obama cannot fool the middle-class like us and be used for his personal political goal. And to Mr. Obama, you don’t really mean CHANGE because you’re saying the same thing, same rhetoric all over including the Democrats as a whole.

For those without multiple passports: many countries allow children to maintain multiple citizenships until the age of 21, at which point they have to choose. Obama traveled to Pakistan when he was 20, so if he did travel under an Indonesian passport, it likely would’ve still been valid — on top of that, a passport is not necessarily a token of citizenship in all countries. He did have birthright Kenyan citizenship, but lost it at 21, having stuck with the American citizenship.

If your parent is from another country, and that country allows citizenship to be handed down through lineage, then you often either have it or can claim it up until 21. After 21, with most countries, you have to pick. After 21, Obama’s been all-American, all the time.
And a history of dual citizenship (and I’m not sure an Indonesian passport necessarily denotes citizenship, especially when it belonged to a child) doesn’t affect presidential candidates. Being born in or a sole citizen of another country does, which is why we’ll never see a President Ahnold (well, until the inevitable “Austrians Only” amendment). Ironically, of the two candidates, John McCain is in more danger of falling foul of the nationality rule, having been born in a foreign military zone (he’s safe, after some frenzied checking a few months back).

Check your facts. Bush graduated from Yale with an MBA. Bush also graduated at the bottom of his class (Bene Probatus- Third Class). Obama made a name out of nothing. Obama graduated in the top five percentile of his class with a (magna cum laudae- Second Class Upper Davison). No one get’s into Harvard law by chance, only the best attend Harvard Law. How can Hillary campaign for BO, when there was so much mud slinging at her. One of my memories of the Wright clip fest on cable news, was when he was in the pulpit simulating sex and taling about Bill Clinton “ridin us”, or Pfleger screaming as if he’s Hillary and saying “this wasn’t supposed to happen, I’m a white woman” or some kind of garbage. I hate this whole campaign, in truth, because it seems to have created more racism. I have a few black friends, not enough to be sure, but now I feel like every one of them is for him as polls indicate, and it makes me less open to making friends….I don’t know if I’m explaining myself right…but I don’t like the way I feel about a group of people my heart was open to a year ago.

hi everyone…i am here speaking as a democrat whose job has been eliminated. i was a third shift QA tech and now i have been integrated into ‘the office’ by one of the largest companies in the world globally. i have always been a hammer and nails girl. i am not sure how i am going to deal with this ‘new job.’ i am scared and feel like a new employee after 6 1/2 years of service here.
this election is one of the most imprtant of our lives. as i said earlier, i am a democrat…always have been. and i sure wish bill was back in office. i just don’t think mc’can’t has it in him, he is not only too old, as i don’t discriminate age, but i just don’t think he can think or act quick enough to save us….although, obama o nthe other hand, may think too quick, and throw all of us under the bus. i wish hillary was leading our way…….

BECAUSE Indonesians cannot have ANY OTHER PASSPORTS; DUAL CITIZENSHIP IS NOT ACCEPTED IN INDONESIA!
So Obama would have had to have had EITHER a US OR an INDONESIAN passport.

Alice Palmer served the district in the Illinois Senate for much of the 1990s. Decades earlier, she was working as a community organizer in the area when Obama was growing up in Hawaii and Indonesia. She risked her safe seat to run for Congress and touted Obama as a suitable successor, according to news accounts and interviews.
But when Palmer got clobbered in that November 1995 special congressional race, her supporters asked Obama to fold his campaign so she could easily retain her state Senate seat.
Obama not only refused to step aside, he filed challenges that nullified Palmer’s hastily gathered nominating petitions, forcing her to withdraw.
“I liked Alice Palmer a lot. I thought she was a good public servant,” Obama said. “It was very awkward. That part of it I wish had played out entirely differently.”
Suddenly anyone who was for Palmer and worked for the city of Chicago…mysteriously lost their jobs.

I am not a McCain fan, but I do feel sorry for him because he looks so sad to me, like he just sold his soul to the devil.
He is always going to be a military person, and military force at all cost will always be his sword, but the message of the campaign isn’t shaping out the way he wanted it to be from 2000. I think he feels helpless and is going with the flow because too many people’s hands are pulling the strings.
I think all he wants to do is get to the presidency to live out his military legacy before he leaves this earth. As far as economics, etc…he will rely heavily on a cabinet made up of people he owes favors to. The scary thing is that it may be Phil Gramm, maybe even a Karl Rove, and others, but as long as he is Commander in Chief, that is where his heart is. To him, that is worth selling his soul for.

Didn’t everyone just loved little Sarah Palin’s recital Wednesday. Aww how cute.
I remember when I did my first recital when I was 8. I had to remember the words to someone else’s speech, and it took me 3 days of seclusion to nail it, just like Sarah, to remember my lines.
Aww..how precious. Everyone was so proud of me performing my recital and I got raving reviews and a standing ovation. I felt special.
People told me that I slammed it out of the park. I felt great about myself for being able to read my recital. I know I made my speech writer proud, just like Sarah…awwwww

As someone whose grandfather will be 97 next week I would like to say that you Obamabots that go on about Mccain dying and asking him who will be president in a heartbeat, that is rude. I had a friend that dropped dead at 42. Actually when you look at it both of Obama’s parents are dead and he is not 50 years old yet. so much for longevity in his genes.

Staniam, I don’t make this stuff up out of thin air. I’m a dual citizen, so it’s been in my interest to look all this stuff up long before this election. If I ran for office, I’d have to renounce my other nationality. But as long as I did that, I’m allowed to run.
Neither Kenya nor Indonesia are allowed dual citizenship past 21, I’m pretty sure (you’ll have to go check their embassy sites to be sure, but I don’t remember them on the list). Barack’s American.

Hmmm: a child can sometimes get a passport if their parent is of a different nationality. But before we delve into all of this crap, where is the proof (and I mean proof, not rumour) that Obama had an Indonesian passport? It’s not worth ripping the whole thing apart without that — the guy filing the lawsuit isn’t even hyping that, he’s relying on the claim that Anne Dunham travelled to Kenya to give birth. Yeah. Left the US to give birth in a Kenyan hospital instead. Mmm, credible…
And I know Palin was born in Idaho, I’m just pointing out it’s ludicrous to somehow judge states as less valid due to their age — if Hawaii’s not legit, then neither is Alaska. Regardless, the Dunhams moved to Hawaii post-statehood; it’s not like Obama’s mom meant to have him in a foreign country, and then accidentally ended up in the US despite her secret secessionist wishes.

Hmmm, as I said in an earlier post: before you are 21, you can have multiple citizenships, even with countries that do not allow duality when you are an adult. The entire idea is that you get to choose — a child can’t be expected to pick which inherited nationality they want to stick with. I’m lucky, I get to keep both of mine. Obama had to pick: he did. america*centric, Ahnold CANNOT run for President. He was born in Austria, to Austrian parents. He is a NATURALIZED American citizen, but because he was born in another nation with another nationality, he’s out of the running. There’d have to be a constitutional amendment to allow him.
Obama WAS born in the US, as his Hawaiian birth certificate clearly shows. His US nationality has been intact from the start — he may have had Indonesian passports and Kenyan citizenship as a child, but those expire at 21 unless he were to make a declaration that he preferred something other than US. If he had, then his US citizenship would cease.

Actually, there is question about Obama’s birth place…. and rules in place at that time about the citizenship of a child born outside the US to a mother who is only 18 years of age.
There are those who say he was actually born in Indonesia (which would explain his Indonesian passport) rather than Hawaii; his hawaian certificate of live birth, it is being said, was actually the “doctored” certificate of Obama’s half sister Maia.
Not to worry; there is a case about this in the courts even as we blog.
The questions still remain however, as to where Obama, if he had NOT been born in Indonesia, got that passport…..
and WHY would he have been travelling to Pakistan under ANY passport other than one from the United States of America!
Seems fishy to me.
And yes, I am aware of how one becomes a naturalized citizen.

When I see Obama, I can tell that he is very ambitious and wants this badly,and is fight some personal demons but I also see a lack of judgment and maturity. This is shown in his sketchy associations in Chicago and his willingness to do anything at all cost to get what he wants. He also lies a lot. Th lies about his parents and Selma. I don’t know why he feels the need to authenticate himself by faking dates and details. I also sense a degree of anger in him. A sort of Anakin Skywalker. I have no idea what the other cryptic stuff you mention is supposed to mean — Dunham was 18 when Obama was born, and Hawaii had already been a state for 2 years. It makes no sense for her to have been in Indonesia at that time, she had no connection there.
It’s possible that Obama got a passport due to being the stepson of an Indonesian. It is sometimes easier to travel on a passport other than your US one — I travel through Africa on my non-US one, for instance, because the turnaround on visa times is much much quicker.
The stuff about Obama’s mother is absurd. She died at home in her apartment in Hawaii, with her daughter Maya by her side, down the hall from Obama’s grandmother. There is absolutely no evidence Barack and his mother were not on speaking terms.

I would have voted for Colin too. You know as a lifelong DNC member I often voted for people that I did not care for. Something changed for me this year. I was very upset about Hillary. I had always liked McCain back in the 90′s even and lived in Arizona a bit. He like Hillary was a good senator helped his constituents. Not like Obama who sort of won and bailed. I thought you know I could vote for Mc Cain and just break from my party. It was a tough call.

I just read all these posts, good debate going back and forth and no one is getting nasty which is good. But I have my favorites here and have to say Samantha you go girl!! I am a staunch conservative and my family never thought they would hear this from me. But I know we would be better of if Hillary was the Dem nominee (if I have to be stuck with a Dem!!) because there are to many secrets about Obama, to many unanswered questions and that makes me very leery of him. Talk about vetting? This guy HAS NOT been because the media is protecting him. This is even more evident this week because the media is trying to destroy Palin, (like they did the Clintons) I can’t believe this, its the most vicious thing I have seen in politics!

Debra, Obama’s grandmother is in declining health and doesn’t get out much — she’s 85 and not up for plane travel anymore, though if you go looking for photos of her, you’ll find loads. She was also part of a video tribute, which I can’t link to because of spam filters.

While I support McCain. i agree that Obama has a compelling life story as well. The difference is– well for me at least was when McCain gave his speech last night. It felt very genuine and was hard for him to deliver. I could see the love for America in his eyes. A true wisdom and pride. Is he as “eloquent” as Obama no, but I felt more inspired by the McCain speech.
The problem with Obama and teh whole community organizer story is that there are a lot of mistruths about it. It was only for three years and consisted of getting rid of asbestos in some Chicago projects. Obama exaggerates. I have been in Chicago, the same years as Obama and very active in the communities. Obama is no Jesse Jackson or Jane Addams or Timuel Black. In fact Timuel Black tried to talk Obama out of betraying Alice Palmer and he did not listen. In short Obama did not do a lot in the communities.

Grace…they did a study on late night comics and they are afraid to touch Obama….Hillary and McCain had upper 300′s on jokes and Obama 167. There are different rules for white late night guys and the black candidate.

Sometimes I hope that this Obama situation does not get to be just like Jayson Blair the African American journalist who was forced to resign from the New York Times in May 2003, after he was caught plagiarizing and fabricating elements of his stories.The Blair scandal also stoked much controversy and debate over affirmative action hiring. Blair’s editor, Jonathan Landman, told the Siegal committee he felt the fact that Blair was African-American played a large part in his initial promotion to full-time staffer. “I think race was the decisive factor in his promotion,” he said. “I thought then and I think now that it was the wrong decision.”
You know Obama has never really been properly vetted for anything and given a “pass” on a lot by the media.

Staniam, Samantha, you’ll just have to find the video. Madelyn Dunham does not travel due to severe osteoperosis, which is evident in the video. She doesn’t want to give formal interviews. Charlie Paine is Barack’s great-uncle, the war hero who helped liberate a Buchenwald sub-prison.
I think everyone’s forgetting that Obama’s white relatives are all in their 80s and 90s. That’s not an age where people necessarily want to go out campaigning and appear in adverts. Roberta McCain is a firecracker, but she’s also a glaring exception to a general rule.

I loved his speech at the end last night and am so glad it had the highest ratings of all 4 candidates…with Obama and Palin coming in second with a near tie. I trust McCain (and Leiberman, who Dems are now wanting to kick out of the club, but stands up for McCain in his pursuit to UNIFY).

My mother in law voted for Edwards in the caucus and was on the fence about the general election. She is a lifelong democrat and was struggling with casting a republican ballad but after Palin’s speech she is now voting for McCain.

Samantha, people have been digging into OBama’s past for months — how do you think we all know the names Ayers, Rezko, Palmer? How do you think we’ve got all this information about his birth and his documents and how he went to Pakistan when he was 20? This information doesn’t just magically bubble up — he’s been vetted for well over a year, and constantly. Palin only looks more intense because it’s so absurdly condensed, but that’s certainly not anyone else’s fault.
And yeah, Obama said Auschwitz rather than Buchenwald:
“I had a uncle who was one of the, who was part of the first American troops to go into Auschwitz and liberate the concentration camps, and the story in my family is that when he came home, he just went into the attic, and he didn’t leave the house for six months. Alright? Now, obviously something had affected him deeply, but at the time, there just weren’t the kinds of facilities to help somebody work through that kind of pain.”
His uncle liberated a death camp, and Obama got the name of the camp wrong. Everyone gets details of family stories wrong sometimes. The fundamentals of the story remain the same, and that uncle is the one who stood up with him at the Democratic National Convention.

I’m not quite sure how to state this, so I’ll just be blunt: Madelyn Dunham has severe osteoperosis. She literally has difficulty standing up. She cannot travel, and she does not frequently leave her home because her bones are so fragile that they could break at any time.
You can see it however you’d like. Plenty of people would find it inappropriate for Obama to wheel out his very ill white grandmother just to prove a point to a few voters who refuse to believe she loves him.

Rezko’s trial, was that covered, Ayers Annenberg papers, birth certificate questions, why not a follow up on Wright…no one believes these two were like “uncle”/nephew and yet BO didn’t know Wright’s views and beliefs, yet donates $25,000 a year to Trinity. (The Obama’s only charity I believe).
I appreciate you working hard on his behalf on these blogs, but we Americans still have so many questions, more in fact than we do of Gov. Palin.

Staniam, our choices are Obama — who miffed the name of a concentration camp in the retelling of a family story — and McCain, who didn’t know the difference between Shia and Sunni. Or insurgents and Al-Quaeda. Or the borders of Pakistan.
I’m sure the Clintons are very able politicians. Neither of them are running in this election — one because his term limit’s up, and one because she lost the primary to Obama in a way that the majority of the Democratic party recognized as legit (no matter what claims the zealots make).

His lies about supporting vets when he has voted against nearly every bill designed to provide them with health and education benefits.

His lie that the FBI did a check on Palin before being given the nod as the FBI has subsequently called him out on this.

His lie that Obama suggested bombing Pakistan.
His lie in blaming Obama for rising gas costs.

Samantha, a Nazi landed in my grandparent’s backyard in Scotland. A famous Nazi, too. I want to say his name is Rudolph something, and I want to say the town was Ayr, but I could be wrong. For that matter, my grandfather could’ve muddled the name when he told me — it was decades before my birth, after all. Your family’s plantation I can understand sticking with you, it’s an integral part of your personal story. The WWII stories are less ingrained for me — they sure as hell wouldn’t be as remote if I were Jewish or German, but I’m not, so the details didn’t stick with me as solidly. I just remember that a Nazi landed his plane in my grandmother’s yard after the war ended, and the police caught him.

Debra, Madelyn Dunham has taped a segment for the campaign. Look around for stories about her and you’ll find that she doesn’t give interviews to media, but when a local Honolulu station rung her up, she talked to them briefly. Good lord, you’d think you’d never been around an ailing old person before — sometimes, the lady just doesn’t want to have to deal with all the crap, and she doesn’t have to. Did you know that McCain’s first wife, the mother of three of his kids, similarly doesn’t interview with media other than to say she and John are friends? Everyone’s happy to accept that, and she’s not even ill.
So his wife doesn’t count, his sister doesn’t count, his Kenyan siblings don’t count, his sister’s husband doesn’t count, none of these people cut it with you. How many McCain siblings have we seen running around? Does he have to go dig up more people to testify for him? We are getting perilously close, Debra, to saying that the sole people in Obama’s life who are acceptable to you are the white ones.

Tough Getting People Who Know Her to Talk
It’s not easy getting people in the 49th state to speak critically about Palin – especially people in Wasilla, where she was mayor. For one thing, with every journalist in the world calling, phone lines into Alaska have been mostly jammed since Friday; as often as not, a recording told me that “all circuits are busy” or numbers just wouldn’t ring. I should think a state that’s been made richer than God by oil could afford telephone lines and cell towers for everyone.
On a more practical level, many people in Alaska, and particularly Wasilla, are reluctant to speak or be quoted by name because they’re afraid of her as well as the state Republican Party machine. Apparently, the power elite are as mean as the winters.
“The GOP is kind of like organized crime up here,” an insurance agent in Anchorage who knows the Palin family, explained. “It’s corrupt and arrogant. They’re all rich because they do private sweetheart deals with the oil companies, and they can destroy anyone. And they will, if they have to.”
“Once Palin became mayor,” he continued, “She became part of that inner circle.”
Like most other people interviewed, he didn’t want his name used out of fear of retribution. Maybe it’s the long winter nights where you don’t see the sun for months that makes people feel as if they’re under constant danger from “the authorities.” As I interviewed residents it began sounding as if living in Alaska controlled by the state Republican Party is like living in the old Soviet Union: See nothing that’s happening, say nothing offensive, and the political commissars leave you alone. But speak out and you get disappeared into a gulag north of the Arctic Circle for who-knows-how-long.
Alright, that’s an exaggeration brought on by my getting too little sleep and building too much anger as I worked this article. But there’s ample evidence of Palin’s vindictive willingness to destroy people she sees as opponents. Just ask the Wasilla town administrator she hired before firing him because he rebelled against the way Palin demanded he do his job, or the town librarian who refused to hold the book burning Walpurgisnach Mayor Palin demanded.
Ironically, Palin was pushed into hiring the administrator by the party poobahs who helped get her elected after she got herself into trouble over a number of precipitous firings which gave rise to a recall campaign.
“People who fought her attempt to oust the librarian are on her enemies list to this day,” states Anne Kilkenny, a Wasilla resident and one of the few Alaskans willing to speak on-the-record, for attribution, about Palin. In fact, Kilkenny actually circulated an e-mail letter about Palin that was verified and printed by The Nation.
For good measure, Palin booted the Wasilla police chief from office because, she told a local newspaper, he “intimidated” her.

CNN had an extensive Alaskan interview on tonight with many town leaders, neighbors, etc. and all favorable (except one Dem guy was luke warm). They love her in Alaska, and 80% approval rating is the highest of any Gov. in this country…dufus.

Debra, I’ve just seen a news broadcast featuring plenty of Alaskans who weren’t so hot on her. On top of that, her state newspaper’s made it clear they don’t think she’s qualified for the job. She has a high approval rating because she’s the first in after a generation of corrupt officeholders, and she recently sent everyone thousand-dollar checks of oil money. That’ll goose your popularity, let’s see if she can sustain it.
Meanwhile, her ethics board’s been moved up. Palin hire a lawyer who’s trying to wrench the investigation away from an impartial investigator and put it before a board… that Palin appoints. Suddenly, all the witnesses in the case have stated they won’t testify, and so will have to be subpoenaed.
Charmingly, the investigator is not subpoenaing Palin, because as he points out, she’s told her constituents a number of times that she’ll certainly testify, absolutely, no problem. So it’s going to be interesting to see how that works out.

Sarah Palin drew early attention from state GOP apparatchiks when, during her first mayoral campaign, she ran on an anti-abortion platform. Normally, political parties do not get involved in Alaskan municipal elections because they are nonpartisan. But once word of her extreme fringe evangelical views made its way to Juneau, the state capitol, state Republicans tossed some money behind her campaign.
Once in office, Palin set out to build a machine that chewed up anyone who got in her way. The good, Godly Christian turns out to be anything but.

A sworn deposition that Sen. John McCain gave in a lawsuit more than five years ago appears to contradict one part of a sweeping denial that his campaign issued this week to rebut a New York Times story about his ties to a Washington lobbyist.
On Wednesday night the Times published a story suggesting that McCain might have done legislative favors for the clients of the lobbyist, Vicki Iseman, who worked for the firm of Alcalde & Fay. One example it cited were two letters McCain wrote in late 1999 demanding that the Federal Communications Commission act on a long-stalled bid by one of Iseman’s clients, Florida-based Paxson Communications, to purchase a Pittsburgh television station.
Just hours after the Times’s story was posted, the McCain campaign issued a point-by-point response that depicted the letters as routine correspondence handled by his staff–and insisted that McCain had never even spoken with anybody from Paxson or Alcalde & Fay about the matter. “No representative of Paxson or Alcalde & Fay personally asked Senator McCain to send a letter to the FCC,” the campaign said in a statement e-mailed to reporters.
But that flat claim seems to be contradicted by an impeccable source: McCain himself. “I was contacted by Mr. Paxson on this issue,” McCain said in the Sept. 25, 2002, deposition obtained by NEWSWEEK. “He wanted their approval very bad for purposes of his business. I believe that Mr. Paxson had a legitimate complaint.”

Sen. John McCain on Friday abruptly cancelled a Monday fundraiser that had been scheduled at the home of a Texas oilman, after ABC News contacted the campaign inquiring about a verbal blunder the Texan made during an unsuccessful 1990 campaign for governor.
Clayton Williams stirred controversy during his 1990 campaign for governor of Texas with a botched attempt at humor in which he compared rape to weather. Within earshot of a reporter, Williams said: “As long as it’s inevitable, you might as well lie back and enjoy it.”
His Democratic opponent at the time, the late Ann Richards — who, coincidentally, would lose the governor’s mansion to George W. Bush in 1994 — highlighted the comments in a TV ad during that 1990 campaign. (see above)
McCain campaign spokesman Brian Rogers said the Monday event was being cancelled, given the offensive comments. He said he could not yet say what McCain would do with donations brought into the campaign by Williams.

The political interests of the Floridian McCain fundraiser who bundled money from a strange cast of characters extends far deeper into the federal government than previously known.
Harry Sargeant, who has raised more than $500,000 for the McCain from a host of unlikely donors, owns a refinery and fuel supply company that has spent large sums of money lobbying the government since 2000. Moreover, in 2006 the company, Trigeant Petroleum, brought on board a lobbyist with strong connections to McCain in an effort to win congressional support in its fight over a terminated contract with the Department of Defense.
It could not be immediately determined whether McCain or any other member of Congress intervened on Trigeant’s behalf. The Arizona Republican’s office did not return request for comment. The company ultimately succeeded in settling its suit with DoD for several million dollars. But the widening extent of Sargeant’s business interests adds another layer of intrigue to concerns that he was bundling cash for the presumptive Republican nominee in hopes of future political favors.
“This bundler certainly is someone who wants to have a president on his side,” said David Donnelly of Campaign Money Watch. “He has a significant contract with the Department of Defense and the Pentagon and needs elected officials to listen to him. That’s why he hires lobbyists and raises money for politicians like John McCain.”
Started by Sargeant in 1985, Trigeant Petroleum quickly became a player in the energy supply industry. In April 2004, the company was contracted by the Department of Defense to provide diesel and motor fuel to the Iraqi populace after a Jordanian company failed in the task. The deal was worth $76,956,988 over the course of a year. Several months into the contract, however, the Iraqi government asked for the arrangement to be terminated.

When the Department of Defense acquiesced to the Iraqi government’s wishes, Trigeant was left with fuel literally in transit. Not willing to simply take the hit, the company filed a suit saying that as part of their contract, the U.S. government had to cover the costs of the material they had already lifted.

Having run Senator John McCain’s campaign for president, I can recount a textbook example of a smear made against McCain in South Carolina during the 2000 presidential primary. We had just swept into the state from New Hampshire, where we had racked up a shocking, 19-point win over the heavily favored George W. Bush. What followed was a primary campaign that would make history for its negativity.
In South Carolina, Bush Republicans were facing an opponent who was popular for his straight talk and Vietnam war record. They knew that if McCain won in South Carolina, he would likely win the nomination. With few substantive differences between Bush and McCain, the campaign was bound to turn personal. The situation was ripe for a smear.
It didn’t take much research to turn up a seemingly innocuous fact about the McCains: John and his wife, Cindy, have an adopted daughter named Bridget. Cindy found Bridget at Mother Theresa’s orphanage in Bangladesh, brought her to the United States for medical treatment, and the family ultimately adopted her. Bridget has dark skin.
Anonymous opponents used “push polling” to suggest that McCain’s Bangladeshi born daughter was his own, illegitimate black child. In push polling, a voter gets a call, ostensibly from a polling company, asking which candidate the voter supports. In this case, if the “pollster” determined that the person was a McCain supporter, he made statements designed to create doubt about the senator.
Thus, the “pollsters” asked McCain supporters if they would be more or less likely to vote for McCain if they knew he had fathered an illegitimate child who was black. In the conservative, race-conscious South, that’s not a minor charge. We had no idea who made the phone calls, who paid for them, or how many calls were made. Effective and anonymous: the perfect smear campaign.

Former officials of Sen. John McCain’s 2000 campaign expressed shock and disbelief Monday to learn than the GOP presidential nominee had hired South Carolina political consultant Tucker Eskew.
Eskew, along with Warren Tompkins and Neal Rhodes, were key members of then-Gov. George W. Bush’s South Carolina team during the 2000 primaries. McCain and his team long held Bush, Tompkins, Rhodes and Eskew responsible for the various smears against McCain and his family in the Palmetto state during that contentious contest.

The Keating Five scandal was prompted by the activities of one particular savings and loan: Lincoln Savings and Loan Association of Irvine, California. Lincoln’s chairman was Charles Keating, who ultimately served five years in prison for his corrupt mismanagement of Lincoln.[3] In the four years since Keating’s American Continental Corporation (ACC) had purchased Lincoln in 1984, Lincoln’s assets had increased from $1.1 billion to $5.5 billion.[4] Such savings and loan associations had been deregulated in the early 1980s, allowing them to make highly risky investments with their depositors’ money, a change of which Keating took advantage.[4] Lincoln’s investments took the form of buying land, taking equity positions in real estate development projects, and buying high-yield junk bonds.[5]
McCain and Keating had become personal friends following their initial contacts in 1981.[8] Between 1982 and 1987, McCain had received $112,000 in political contributions from Keating and his associates.[14] In addition, McCain’s wife Cindy McCain and her father Jim Hensley had invested $359,100 in a Keating shopping center in April 1986, a year before McCain met with the regulators. McCain, his family, and their baby-sitter had made nine trips at Keating’s expense, sometimes aboard Keating’s jet. Three of the trips were made during vacations to Keating’s opulent Bahamas retreat at Cat Cay. McCain did not pay Keating (in the amount of $13,433) for some of the trips until years after they were taken, when he learned that Keating was in trouble over Lincoln.[6][15]

Why I’m voting for Obama, because of the issues:
Pro-Choice – I want my daughters to beable to make their own decision about their bodys, not the Gov’t for them.
Voted against the war.
Stem Cells – Obama is for all stem cells. We are trully behind in the race to cure many diseases and stem cells hold the key to many things. I want a President who isn’t going to veto a stem cell bill.
Health Care – I want universal health care. Obama has a plan for this. McCain just wants to write us some checks with the taxes we’ve already paid the gov’t and call it good.
The Republicans have been in the office for 8 years; I want to try something new. He has new, fresh ideas for the country, and I’m willing to give him 4 years to try it out. McCain tries to say he’s different from Bush, but he’s not. His record shows he will flip on any issue aslong as it benefits him in the end or to make his party happy. McCain is 72 and that is just too old, that’d be like voting my grandpa in and even though he’s a very sharp guy, he’s out of touch with what the world has become.
Another thing that bothers me is McCain has never used the internet or e-mail and refuses to do so. I want our country to be at the forefront of technology and if our President can’t even use e-mail..that really bothers me.
Personal experience throughout 8 years of the Republicans… I’ve had to fire employees, I have much less money now, the big house I moved into when I had money 10 years ago I cannot afford now. I had over 1 million dollars invested in the markets, and it’s all gone now with the stock market crash.
So, for me, I want to try something new for atleast 4 years. These are my reasons of course… jJust time for a change of scenery.
And all the fear mongering with his middle name and that horse crap is just sad. What kind of American are you that you’d vote against someone because of a name he didn’t even choose himself….

My problem is with the ease the McCain can twist facts, access private records, refuse to respond to valid questioning and bully the media and government into not reporting the truth.
This is exactly what happened when we went into IRAQ and both Palin/McCain are good at it.
We simply can’t afford it otherwise we won’t have a country at the end of four years.
This campaign isn’t about Obama or Biden, it is about us and what is in our best interest. A republican ticket is not the answer. Democrats will win in November simply because we cannot afford to lose.

Each state, district or local government in the United States must be aware that the Republicans will do anything to have McCain elected on November 4, 2008. The respective authorities (each state, district, local government) must make sure that the voting machines are working properly. Remember that in 2004 some states (local governments, etc.) had issues with the voting machines? According to the majority of voters Senator Kerry was the candidate they voted for, but George W. Bush was the winner in their districts. Why? Because the voting machines were programmed in advance to make George W. Bush the winner instead of Senator Kerry.
So again all the local election authorities (each state) must make sure that each machine will work properly.

That’s false.
Kerry recieved no bounce in 2004. Gore recieved a 10 point bounce in 2000. Clinton in 1996 recieved a 5 point bounce and in 1992 a 13-16 point bounce.
The fact is the losing candidate held their convention early (Kerry and Gore).
Obama held his convention around the same time Clinton held his convention; late August.
Michael Dukakis, Walter Mondale, and Kerry held their convention in mid-late July… losing the election by late august to early september.
Obama’s on the right track to winning this election. He’s going through the Reagan phase of 1980 and McCain just made it easier by chosing Palin.

At least seven Palin aides and associated have, days after her selection, decided to refuse to be deposed in the troopergate scandal investigation. McCain’s campaign has deployed at least ten operatives, including lawyers to Alaska. GOP chair of the state house rules committee is trying to remove the state senator in charge of the investigation.
We can’t afford another four years of this. The total disregard and respect for good government and ethics in government of the Bush administration, and now the McCain campaign, is like a rotting cancer on the American republic.

How many homes have been forclosed? What is the unemployment rate? How much money are we spending each month to keep the troops in Iraq? Is there a connect between the war and the slumping economy? How did your party(Republicans)did with the economy? Great right! McCain said the other day that he does not know much about the economy..that did not phase you guys..that is okay..as long as Obama don’t win..What about health care..are you satisfied that healthcare is a privilege and not a right in this country that proclaims itself the richest country in the world!(You know that’s a joke right?) RNC events which are mainly white:
I have several black Republican friends who refuse to attend any events, and have quieted down their republican leanings, with one actually stripping his Facebook of all republican related items although he works for the party. Why: many death threats, threats to their families, damage of their property, and other serious issues caused by Obama supporters. I can fully understand why.
Regarding troopergate: the negative stories above have been debunked.

As far as the economy is concerned, you need to look at the bills that have made it to the floor and have made it to a vote.
The Republicans have used the filibuster in the last two years to prevent bills from coming to a vote more than any other time in history.
And don’t forget, for the past eight years, six of them were with a Republican president, a Republican Senate, and a Republican House of Representatives.

Another thing that the polls don’t show is the number of newly registered voters.

Tell me why the current administration slyly uses Senator Obama’s proposals about a month or two after he states them? Because they make sense! The man knows what he is talking about.
They accused Senator Obama of wanting to ‘bomb’ Pakistan, which was not true. But they DID end up going into Pakistan, just as Senator Obama proposed.
I plan to vote for Jill Long Thompson for Governor here in Indiana. She’s a white, powerhouse female that knows what she’s talking about. In other words, she has the knowledge, the education, the experience, and the guts to fight for the people in this state.

After Palin’s speech, Senator Obama raised $10 million in less than twenty four hours. I was part of that 10 million, because he’s right about the needs for this country. We are ALL americans, not just the rich.
1.5 yrs as Governor does not make a Vice President. She doesn’t have a clue about domestic or foreign policy. They are just now trying to educate her on what 300 million people in this country are all about.
All she did was attempt to belittle Senator Obama and his record with lies. He has accomplished much.

In 2004, right after the DNC onvention Kerry was polling 50% of all registered voters, compared with 44% for Bush, with independent Ralph Nader 2%.
The story then was not that different either with Kerry showing very strong support from independents who were growing weary of the war.
Kerry camp UNDERESTIMATED the conservative groundswell: much like Obama SCORNING people in smalls towns, who cling on to their religions and guns.
Besides, these gun carrying folks less likely to BLOG and respond to polls … and there is another wildcard, WOMEN. You still cannot fathom how this bloc will lean this seasons.
There is going to be a lot states in play than you think.

States that McCain should be running away with are in statistical ties forcing McCain to spend more money and more time in those states.

Senator Obama said we need to talk with our enemies, as we do with our friends.
What did this administration do? Send someone to talk with Iran. But only after they belittled Senator Obama for saying we should do so.
They keep saying the surge worked, and that Senator Obama should say he was wrong. Senator Obama has agreed the surge was successful, thanks to our mighty military, but quelling the violence was only half the battle. The Iraqi’s still have not been successful in their political resolutions, that in which the surge was initiated to do.
Senator Obama has the knowledge, the education, and the experience to be President.
Sarah Palin has a 4 yr degree in journalism. Sarah Palin does not have the knowledge, education, or qualifications to be Vice President.

The American public DO take a very serious interest in this next year’s GE (I mean with viewership more than American IDOL, Olympics ~ that’s something).
It is all going to come down to numbers over the next few weeks, and so far there are evidence that the tide is turning and it is going to be a DEAD HEAT :
1. McCain topping 40.2 millions viewers (most people who have written him off long ago)
2. Obama setting a record of 40.2 million, arguably equaled by McCain.
3. Palin a very close third in 39 million region.
4. Biden … well I do not know and do not want to speculate. As far as I know, there was no Gustav, Ike or Hanna competing for attention but his viewership is tepid at best.
DO NOT RULE OUT THE WOMENFOLKS, SMALL TOWNS, GUNNING-CARRYING SOCIAL CONSERVATIVES … this BLOC can still swift both ways but lets look at the dynamics propelling them over the last couple of days :
The ludicrous media feeding frenzy about the Palin family hyped interest in her speech, enabling her to win a huge audience for her smashing success Wednesday night at the convention. Indeed, it even renewed interest in McCain, who seems to have gotten still more viewers for his less smashing–but well-received–presentation the following evening.

According to the lastest polls Obama is either leading or tied in these RED states.
North Carolina, Montana, Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, Indiana, Virginia, and Ohio. These are states that typically goes Republican. Yet Obama is leading or either tied.

As I have been in the workforce for 35 years I can tell you we have ups and we have downs, the current downturn is worldwide not just here. I do not pretend to be an expert only to say that no matter who is elected somewhere there will be problems,of some sort. We live in a remarkable country and I firmly believe that less intrusion by the government and growing the economy is the answer. Since the national debt has grown by leaps and bounds not one candidate has addressed it but both are promising, with their pleges, to make it worse. Everyone who lives here,works here,from the rich guy to the sanitation worker has an obligation to help “pull the cart”.

Unemployment has now soared to 6.1% in this country. When we have no jobs and no way to support our families, what do you think will happen?
The people in Michigan and Ohio deserve to have jobs available like all other states. These people are suffering right now more than any place else. What is the remedy for this problem?
It certainly isn’t to place someone in the number 2 position that doesn’t have the education or the knowledge or the experience to make a difference in peoples lives. Banning books in librarys will help these folks get jobs?
The people of this country need more than a religious extremist. The United States is not a Theocracy.

I was raised by a teacher and a military veteran. My father was left alone, but my mother, as a teacher and raised in the deep south, was referred to as uppity. It didn’t matter that she was educated, it was easier to call her names.
So yes, any person of color attempting to educate themselves was referred to as uppity.

We are lucky that we don’t have higher numbers of unemployment. Our society pays the cost of education for every person k-12, some community colleges are so cheap that most can afford it and some cases they are free, most states pay about half the cost of a state ran college or university yet we have an huge population of people without a high school diploma.
My only comment-question would then be how can those who do not think enough of themselves to get their education expect to be able to afford homes, healthcare and a good paying job?
The better trained and educated employee automatically brings about equality in pay which can result in a better life and one more person who can pay his share of taxes. There is no company or business that believes holding others back is a smart way to do business and all of us have to bring good talent to the table. Education and training will always be the answer to our problems-not government intervention.

david, again, I agree. Education and Training should be at the top of everyones list.
However, if we remain on the current path, we WILL have higher unemployment and complete destruction of our middle class, the backbone of this country. We need solutions to put our country back to work. We don’t need someone who is mainly concerned about banning library books, and telling people how to live their lives.
If we don’t bring this country together, we’re gonna be in a world of hurt, literally.

The term uppity was used against the candidate that is considered african american. Whether he is half black and half white, he is acknowledged as black. And most people are pushing the impression because he is highly educated he somehow thinks he’s better than others. Bill Clinton as a Rhodes Scholar is also highly educated, have you heard anyone refer to him as uppity?

Obama runs his mouth, Palen runs the largest state in the union with an 82% approval rating. Obama only lonely written piece bill in the Senate was to name a post office. He never bucks the good ole boys and other Democrats. Both Palin and McCain have and will do it again.
Last night fundraiser for Obama will allow him to hire more smear and dirt doers. Yea, he is exactly what America does not need. Obama does not have a record to run on but certainly a record of hoodlums to run with.

I was standing at the back of the group at the Murphy fund-raiser. I heard Corzine say, “Are you fired up?” but I didn’t catch the second half that Tapper reports.
Tapper was undoubtedly closer to Corzine than I was, and probably able to hear him better.
But — “liquored up?” Only wine was served at this event. Personally, I hate being around boozy people, and I didn’t notice any during the two hours I was at the Murphys’.

He is SO OUT OF TOUCH with what ALL Americans have to do every morning when they wake up. They go to work, miss so many things in life in order to provide $$ for their loved ones (at great sacrifice).
What is the proof that he is oblivious to “real” life? He actually made the statement….that’s the only proof you need. He is actually flying on his own private jet, being catered to like a king and he’s complaining??
That complaint can go down in the history books.

Barack Obama comes off as a great big whiner who feels entitled to the presidency because he’s actually had to put some real effort into it. Average Americans who work hard without a guarantee that things will always go their way are becoming pretty tired of this poor me rhetoric.
The candidate who deserves to win this campaign is the one who has the best plans for the country and the greatest ability to carry them out, not the one who has supposedly “sacrificed” the most to run.
Please, call the whaaambulance for this fragile and overextended candidate – before he succumbs to the stress.

Although Sarah Palin is allowing an interview under scrutiny, she may carefully negotiate which questions are deemed off the table, therefore crafting her manufactured popular image, and withholding valuable answers to some serious ethical and judgment issues. We need to do something. We need to collectively send an email to ABC news. I believe I heard that Charlie Gibson may do the interview. We need to make sure that they place Palin under the same scrutiny as they did Obama, especially during that ill-fated debate when they invoked flag pins, and Wright, and Ayers, and questioned his patriotism. We need them to ask the tough questions voters need answered. I will write a letter and email it to ABC. The Palin selection is the most hypocritical thing McCain could have done. While saying he wants to unite the US, he deliberately chooses to reignite the cultural wars by choosing the most divisive candidate possible as a way of keeping voters’ eyes away from any and all issues.

His supporter’s were calling him the Messiah but evidently God brought him down to level. McCain is leading by 10 points and that will climb higher. Hillary can’t make a difference in Obama’s campaign polls because Palin is too popular and many women will be voting for McCain because they love Palin. She really made a difference in McCain’s campaigning when he chose her for his VP and she will win the debate against Biden.

First, I’m surprised that Jake was able to report this story and that news people were not locked out. Secondly, if Obama wanted a different campaign format, he should have taken McCain up on the offer of holding joint Town Meetings so the voters could have seen the candidates side-by-side (in a no spin zone).
But since Obama doesn’t like to really talk with people about the issues, and would rather spend your money spouting rhetoric via teleprompters with splashy backdrops, keep donating to his campaign because he needs alot of money to pay for the props!
And since running the campaign IS Obama’s depth of EXPERIENCE, just think how good he’ll be at wasting your tax dollars if he were ever elected. Remember in states that he still lost to Hillary, he normally spent 3x-4x what she did with negative results. Let’s get the real change deal–vote McCain/Palin to end wasteful spending whereever it exists!

This election has me very worried. So many things to consider. About a year ago I would have voted for Obama. I have changed my mind three times since than. I watch all the news channels, jumping from one to another. I must say this drives my husband crazy. But, I feel if you view MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News, you might get some middle ground to work with. About six months ago, I started thinking ‘where did the money come from for Obama’. I have four daughters who went to College, and we were middle class, and money was tight. We (including my girls) worked hard and there were lots of student loans.
I started looking into Obama’s life.
Around 1979 Obama started college at Occidental in California. He is very open about his two years at Occidental, he tried all kinds of drugs and was wasting his time but, even though he had a brilliant mind, did not apply himself to his studies. ‘Barry’ (that was the name he used all his life) during this time had two roommates, Muhammad Hasan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid, both from Pakistan. During! the summer of 1981, after his second year in college, he made a ’round the world’ trip. Stopping to see his mother in Indonesia, next Hyderabad in India, three weeks in Karachi, Pakistan where he stayed with his roommate’s family, then off to Africa to visit his father’s family. My que stion – Where did he get the money for this trip? Nether I, nor any one of my children would have had money for a trip like this when they were in college. When he came back he started school at Columbia University in New York. It is at this time he wants everyone to call him Barack – not Barry. Do you know what the tuition is at Columbia? It’s not cheap! to say the least. Where did he get money for tuition? Student Loans? Maybe. After Columbia, he went to Chicago to work as a Community Organizer for $12,000. a year. Why Chicago? Why not New York? He was already living in New York.
By ‘chance’ he met Antoin ‘Tony’ Rezko, born in Aleppo Syria, and a real estate developer in Chicago. Rezko has been convicted of fraud and bribery this year. Rezko, was named ‘Entrepreneur of the Decade’ by the Arab-American Business and Professional Association’. About two years later, Obama entered Harvard Law School. Do you have any idea what tuition is for Harvard Law School? Where did he get the money for Law School? More student loans? After Law school, he went back to Chicago. Rezko offered him a job, which he turned down. But, he did take a job with Davis, M iner, Barnhill & Galland. ! Guess what? They represented ‘Rezar’ which Rezko’s firm. Rezko was one of Obama’s first major financial contributors when he ran for office in Chicago. In 2003, Rezko threw an early fundraiser for Obama which Chicago Tribune reporter David Mendelland claims was instrumental in providing Obama with ‘seed money’ for his U.S. Senate race. In 2005, Obama purchased a new home in Kenwoood District of Chicago for $1.65 million (less than asking price). With ALL those Student Loans – Where did he get the money for the property? On the same day Rezko’s wife, Rita, purchased the adjoining empty lot for full price. The London Times reported that Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi -born Billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million three weeks before Obama’s new home was purchased. Obama met Nadhmi Auchi many times with Rezko.
Now, we have Obama running for President. Valerie Jarrett, was Michele Obama’s boss. She is now Obama’s chief advisor and he does not make any major decisions without talking to her first. Where was Jarrett born? Ready for this? Shiraz, Iran! Do we see a pattern here? Or am I going crazy?
On May 10, 2008 The Times reported, Robert Malley advisor to Obama was ‘sacked’ after the press found out he was having regular contacts with ‘Hamas’, which controls Gaza and is connected with Iran. This past week, buried in the back part of the papers, Iraqi newspapers reported that during Obama’s visit to Iraq, he asked their leaders to do nothing about the war until after he is elected, and he will ‘Take care of things’.
Oh, and by the way, remember the college roommates that where born in Pakistan? They are in charge of all those ‘small’ Internet campaign contribution for Obama. Where is that money coming from? The poor and middle class in this country? Or could it be from the Middle East?
And the final bit of news. On September 7, 2008, The Washington Times posted a verbal slip that was made on ‘This Week’ with George Stephanapoulos. Obama on talking about his religion said, ‘My Muslim faith’. When questioned, ‘he make a mistake’. Some mistake! Oh yeah! not a mistake!

I was all for Obama until it got down to his truthfulness and being a good American. This is american who served his country and had friends and family die for our freedon.
