McCain Says He Can’t Fire SEC Chairman
"By the way I know he can’t be technically ‘fired,’" Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., just said on "60 Minutes." "But when I’m president, if I want someone to resign, he resigns."
We fact-checked his threat to fire SEC chairman Chris Cox last week, as you may recall, a U.S. Supreme Court decision would suggest that the president does not have the power to remove the SEC Chair. But, we noted, certainly pressure can be brought to force someone out, as when then-Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, D-S.D., and then-House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt, D-Mo., called for President Bush to dump then-SEC chair Harvey Pitt.
– jpt
UPDATE: A U.S. District Court of Appeals ruling that SEC Commissioners are "subject to removal by the President for cause; its chairman is selected by and serves at the pleasure of the President" makes this as a legal matter somewhat muddier. SEC experts with whom we’ve spoken say they believe the president still cannot "fire" the SEC chairman because of the Supreme Court precedent, but the U.S. District Court ruling makes this more of an unresolved legal question. The SEC itself has not weighed in.

Frankly, looking at what’s happened to the balance of powers the last 7 years – I’m not entirely sure he couldn’t find a way to fire him.
He’d just secretly meet with his advisors over the weekend, present a 2 page summary to Congress, and demand they do his bidding or else.
Forget the SEC – what about the Congressional Banking Committee, that not only didn’t realise what was happening, but can’t even explain to the people what is GOING to happen. McCain isn’t the only one who doesn’t have a clue….

“By the way I know he can’t be technically ‘fired,’” Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., just Minutes.” “But when I’m president, if I want someone to resign, he resigns.”…
I guess one more thing McLie doesn’t know is that he just said he would carry out a “constructive firing” of a federal employee. That is illegal. Kinf of like what Palin did in Alaska.
Here again – another Repuplican with no respect for the law.
Any by the way, McCain, the SEC head had nothing to do with this. When your presdint launched a $1 Trillion dollar war that we don’t have the money to pay for, the dollar was devalued, energy prices soared, and the nail was put in the coffin of our economy.

Lots of folks should be fired. A few, including those who signed or assisted in preparing or accepting fraudulent loan applications, should be arrested. McCain is on the right track. Might as well start with Cox. Then move on to the members of Congress who aided in the fraud.

Surely McCain is expressing contempt for the safeguards that are meant to prevent political interference: what is the point of the president not being able to fire a public official (a limitation which should preserve the independence of that office and stop it becoming a political sock puppet) if “when I’m president, if I want someone to resign, he resigns”?
It’s the same contempt for the intent of the law that had Palin trying to game the system by using Yahoo! email for public business (God preserve us from stupid people trying to be clever).

Someone should ask Sen McCain when he finally learned he couldn’t fire the SEC chairman – he certainly declared his intentions many times before the 60 minutes interview. Jake, why are you not counting McCain’s gaffes as you are Biden’s? Some of McCain’s make Biden’s pale in comparison.

McCain also knows that Zapatero is the Prime Minister of Spain. Sure. And when the other day he said that he doesn’t want to meet with him it wasn’t a mistake. the only time someone acts so angry is when they know they are losing and have no control over the situation. Like that old song “It’s a fine line between love and hate” In order to have such “HATE” for someone or something there had to have had a deep love for that person or thing in order to show that kind of emotion. think about it all you liberals. McCain made a gaffe plain and simple. We all know that McCain did lose his cool this week. I got a good example of his personality characteristics when under pressure. He is scary!! For some reason he seemed more rattled??
Obama was much more calm and reserved. Felt more presidential and in control. He was following Washington requests made to both presidential candidates during crisis- don’t say anything. I find it interesting the personal bashing done to Obama that goes unchallenged. His deliberate style of talking only speaks to his contemplative personality – in addition, he knows his words will be parsed like no other. If the situation were reversed, and Palin had the Columbia undergrad and Harvard Law Degree, republicans would be furious and enraged that such accomplishments were being denigrated and ignored. To imply he is stupid is just laughable and destroys credibility.

In speaking before her church about her son going to war in Iraq, Palin urged the congregation to pray “that our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God; that’s what we have to make sure we are praying for, that there is a plan, and that plan is God’s plan.”
When asked about these remarks in her interview with Gibson, Palin successfully dodged the issue of her religious beliefs by claiming that she had been merely echoing the words of Abraham Lincoln. The New York Times later dubbed her response “absurd.” It was worse than absurd; it was a lie calculated to conceal the true character of her religious infatuations.
Every detail that has emerged about Palin’s life in Alaska suggests that she is as devout and literal-minded in her Christian dogmatism as any man or woman in the land.
Given her long affiliation with the Assemblies of God church, Palin very likely believes that Biblical prophecy is an infallible guide to future events and that we are living in the “end times.” Which is to say she very likely thinks that human history will soon unravel in a foreordained cataclysm of war and bad weather.
Undoubtedly Palin believes that this will be a good thing—as all true Christians will be lifted bodily into the sky to make merry with Jesus, while all nonbelievers, Jews, Methodists and other rabble will be punished for eternity in a lake of fire.

What John McCain did -
“Two years ago, I called for reform of this corruption at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Congress did nothing. The Administration did nothing. Senator Obama did nothing, and actually profited from this system of abuse and scandal. While Fannie and Freddie were working to keep Congress away from their house of cards, Senator Obama was taking their money. He got more, in fact, than any other member of Congress, except for the Democratic chairmen of the committee that oversees them. And while Fannie Mae was betraying the public trust, somehow its former CEO had managed to gain my opponent’s trust to the point that Senator Obama actually put him in charge of his vice presidential search.” – McCain

This doesn’t begin to fix the real problem: that McCain’s first instinct was to scapegoat Cox. The guy has absolutely no concept of reality. Even conservatives are razzing him for this.
Seriously, what a joke. McCain is like a spoiled child. Like firing Cox would fix anything. The problem was the corrupt republican legacy of deregulation, and Alan Greenspan’s BS policies. Fire the lot of them, I say.

The winning money is on McCain!
Trump endorses McCain on Larry King
Donald Trump, the flamboyant New York magnate, said on CNN’s “Larry King Live” on Wednesday night that he is supporting Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) for president.
Trump, never shy with his opinions, went on to say that McCain appears to be winning, and that Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) should have chosen Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) as his running mate.
“I know John McCain, and John McCain’s a great guy, a tremendous guy,” Trump told King. “I’ve known him for a long time. And I’m with him, and I’m with him based on the fact that I have great knowledge of John McCain. Also, this is not the right time for tax increases. And Obama wants to increase your taxes drastically.”

Huh?
Are there actually still people out there who cling to the Grand Old Party?
Will it not be in every history book that the Republicans brought this great country close to a total collapse in the first decade of the 21st century?
Haven’t we seen enough to underline that? An illegal war that cost many, many innocent lives, an incredible national debt, an American secretive government spying on American citizens, a presidential disdain for the Constitution, an economic recession on the brink of a financial meltdown, America a country that supports torture…
What have these Republicans done for America, done for you and me? What have they done for the world?
They totally scr*wed it, that’s what they did. They proved that they are the WRONG choice for America.

Sen. Joe Biden- Total Income= $319,853 Donations= $995.00 .003%
Barack Obama- Total Income= $4,200,000 Donations=$240,370 5.7%

Now the truth of Both McCain and Obamas camps, are guilty of taking money from Fannie Mae, it just goes to prove that, both parties have issues cross talking. McCains oil Tycoons can raise oil prices, and make a killing, at the American peoples expense, if the bailout is stopped. How? Because they can conduct ‘corprate takeovers’, to the energy companies, that have morgages. Many Tycoons lobbying for McCain are looking to make Billions off of this issue. Almost as if someone on the inside deregulated on purpose, for a future gain. McCains little whisper of ‘it may fall’, was also followed by a ‘maybe not’. That is why both parties, thought he was just going senile again. Remember America, he has an issue of writting proposals, and then voting against them. That is his ‘Mavrick’ way of gambling, at the expense of American lives.

It’s clear as day.
JM doesn’t stand a chance. I don’t see HOW he could possibly win. If he gets 30-40% of the vote he’ll be lucky.
Obama has it in the bag.
No need anymore to use the scare tactics like JM will cut social security benefits in half, launch a new war with Russia or never remove any troops from Iraq.
No need anymore to call all those who don’t vote for Obama as racists or the personal attacks on JM and Palin such as how out of touch JM is because he can’t use a keyboard to email anyone due to beatings he received as a pow.
No need to try to think of SOMETHING Obama might have done to justify his lack of experience or need to explain what Obama did do in Chicago.
Obama and his fans can all rest easy now.

I watched Roundtable this AM. I guess I should stop watching any network “news” shows or just stop being surprised but every one on the panel was campaigning for Obama. It is painfully obvious.
They just kept saying how bad all this financial mess is for McCain and did not even mention the bill he tried to get through committee in 2005 to reign in the bad lending. Then they talked about the advisors BO has being the most knowledgeable in the crisis.
Again not mentioning that 2 of BO”S
advisors are former Fannie Mae CEOs.
ABC is not a credible news network anymore.

Or if you know the top 30?
Or perhaps the top 10?
Wasn’t Obama number 2 on the list?
Did JM even make the top 30?

I saw the roundtable, too. They are rooting for Obama. I thought Obama was sweating! He looked nervous. McCain came out first with a solution. I am not saying he knows the answer, but at least he made an effort. Obama’s superior team cannot come with an answer because they were “sleeping at the switch” I guess. I thought McCain was the cool and level headed one. He was bold, when he suggested in firing that guy. He basically wanted to that he would be tough and assure accountability.

Should home heating prices rise the next 2-3 winters which of Obama’s plans will cause a drop in price?
1. Hope that 10-40 years from now, cost effective alternatives will be available.
2. Dramaticly increase taxes on all energy companies via a new additional “windfall” tax.
3. Take away any tax incentives for oil companies to add jobs or to invest in alternative energy.
3. Force oil companies to drill where they haven’t found any oil.
Don’t drill democrats I guess have changed to drill where there isn’t oil democrats.

In the speech, Obama says: “What they’ll say is, ‘Well it costs too much money,’ but you know what? It would cost, about… It — it — it would cost about the same as what we would spend… It… Over the course of 10 years it would cost what it would costs us… (nervous laugh) All right. Okay. We’re going to… It… It would cost us about the same as it would cost for about — hold on one second. I can’t hear myself. But I’m glad you’re fired up, though. I’m glad.”

How can ANY dem defend an oil “drilling” bill that:
1. Excludes drilling where most of the oil is
2. where companies must get permission from the states
3. where states are NOT permitted ANY oil revenue that would come from drilling thus giving them absolutely NO incentive to give their ok.
Versus the Rep plan:
1. Allows responsible, environmentally approved drilling where oil is found
2. Where permission must be granted by the states and
3. The vast majority of the oil revenue is given to the states to do with as they please.

John McCain is full of baloney. He made so many contradictory statements this week, it’s hard to count them all – but one thing I do know for sure. This economy is in serious trouble, and I do not want Phil Gramm, who last month said there was nothing wrong – it was all a “mental problem” as a top advisor to the next President. The man is responsible for deregulation and he is the one John McCain turns to for economic advice. McCain is looking and sounding worse every day.

Marxists/Socialists/Communists for Obama
This group is for self-proclaimed Marxists/Communists/Socialists for the election of Barack Obama to the Presidency. By no means is he a true Marxist, but under Karl Marx’s writings we are to support the party with the best interests of the mobilization of the proletariat. Though the Democratic Socialists of America or the Communist Patty of America may have more Socialististic values, it is pointless to vote for these candidates due to the fact that there is virutally no chance they will be elected on a National level. The members of this group are not Leninists, Stalinists, etc. and do not support or condone the actions of North Korea, China, Cuba or any other self-procalimed “Marxist States.” They do not in anyway represent the Marxist philosophy nor do they represent Socialism/ Communsim. We support Barack Obama because he knows what is best for the people!

As for Obamas Oil drilling, he pushes for a varity of energies, that help, when one fails, the others pick up the slack. McCains idea of “If Oil fails us again, we are doomed”, just does not make collage level sense. Even high schoolers understand, to diversify in Energy forms.

Wikipedea-In political theory, Democracy describes a small number of related forms of government and also a political philosophy. Even though there is no universally accepted definition of ‘democracy’,[3] there are two principles that any definition of democracy include. The first principle is that all members of the society have equal access to power and the second that all members enjoy universally recognized freedoms and liberties.
Yep, sounds like Obamas ideas of universally recognized freedoms and liberties. Amazing, that people forget wht Democracy is, when McCains Tycoons are talking.

Didn’t Barney Frank (Dem) and Chris Dodd (Dem)not only kill all proposals to curb Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? Didn’t they actually push through bills raising their limits and authorizing them to take on riskier loans? Didn’t they also ignore the audit reports indicating things were drasticly wrong?

FEDERAL HOUSING ENTERPRISE REGULATORY REFORM ACT OF 2005
The United States Senate
May 25, 2006
Section 16
…For years I have been concerned about the regulatory structure that governs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac–known as Government-sponsored entities or GSEs–and the sheer magnitude of these companies and the role they play in the housing market. OFHEO’s report this week does nothing to ease these concerns. In fact, the report does quite the contrary. OFHEO’s report solidifies my view that the GSEs need to be reformed without delay.
I join as a cosponsor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, to underscore my support for quick passage of GSE regulatory reform legislation. If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole.
I urge my colleagues to support swift action on this GSE reform legislation.
Sen. McCain [R-AZ]

McCain also recieved a kick-back from Fannie Mae. His was smaller, not by much, but because he didn’t make the top three, few people realize he was also involved. Do not take blogs as proof. Just read the reports, and background check the candidates. Obama has been forthcoming about his issues. And like Palin, McCain denies, and denies untill he is finialy caught. Then he flip-flops. I do not vote for Lobbiests, who focus on their own pockets. Both candidates had issues here. But when you look at how much McCain recieved, in the long run, of his investments, he collected over 300,000 dollars of ‘in and out’ investing. Both parties should drop this case and focus, on the future.

List all of the energy programs including alternative energy programs for both Obama and JM.
You will find JM’s list includes all of Obamas plus additional emphasis on PROVEN technologies like nuclear and oil as well as newer technologies such as oil shale and clean coal technology that Obama doesn’t.
Which one will get us economical energy independence quicker? No question, it is JM’s plan.

ice, have you not heard the reports of him telling some Democrates and Republicans, he could be wrong. He even asked some to vote against it in hopes to make himself look good, if it does go under. That’s how a Corporate Take-Over is most effective. The inside man(McCain), is lobbied to deregulate a business like Fannie Mae, then when the morgage company fails, Tycoons come in and buy up all the property. Follow the FULL paper trail. It still existed as of eight months ago. Interesting, how McCain was on both sides, of the issue.

Didn’t JM actually propose a bill in 2005 limiting Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac?
Yes. Had he also told both Republicans and Democrates, he could be wrong after the speech. No Investigation was followed up afetwards.
Didn’t the Dems not only kill it but push through bills granting them ADDITIONAL abilities to take on riskier loans?
Both Republicans and Democrates were assured by McCains Deregulations, that Fannie Mae and other Oil Companies needed more riskier investments, to gain a better return. The Tycoons have money ready to buy up the morgages of the other Energy Companies if McCain wins. His council members ARE the Tycoons. Research each of them.
Although Obama gave speeches, did he actually propose any bill limiting Fanny Mae or Freddie Mac?
Obama was not privy to all inside dealinds of corporate buy outs. So he opted to remain silent until he recieved more facts. Too late I agree, but this is how coruption has taken the Transparency, away from Congress.
Its funny how McCain/Palin are for transparency in words, but their paper trails speeks louder, against it.

Thank you for the info on Obama’s energy plan.
Did you notice how on one hand he says he’s all for it but the bills he introduces or backs are against it? ie. Safe and Secure Nuclear Energy as well as Coal Technology?
In both cases he’s for it but at the same time he votes to either restrict it or eliminate it.
For example his cap and trade program will virtually eliminate all coal fired plants.
In addition, I didn’t see one mention of the need for any program to be economicly feasable. For example we could use solar power today if we were willing to pay 20 times more for our utility bills.
Posted by: Dave in lv | September 22, 2008, 1:06 am 1:06 am
Dave in lv, He is in fact in disagreement, with improperly safe mining after the deaths from cave ins. His proposals for nuclear and coal mining, are for better safty messures to be placed. He does not wanted to cast out coal production, but limit the strip-mining effects, on the enviorment. Is he an enviormentalist. 80% yes, 20% no. He wants to limit enviormental harming energies. He has tried to look at both sides without quick judgement. I do not acrgee will all his policies, but he has a more thoughtful idea, of a Free America than McCain. If both candidates got rid of their staff. Obama has the grassroots experience, of what the middle and lower classes want. McCain only has upper class experience, on making money. Life is about more than just money. So right now I am for Obama.

Solar panels on your personal home, reduces the cost of your personal bills. A sewage plant in my home town WAS, interested in applying Solar panels to absorb some of energy use for the local generators. An Oil company has asked the sewage plant to stop and wait until the energy issues are under control. That was in 2007. Now the sewage company, still relying on oil, can not afford to finish the project. Our town is very pissed off at the same Oil Tycoons, who are advising McCain right now.

In the long term, Yes , Obama is for a carbon free emissions form of energy. Most future, looking policies, should accept this view. Even if Oil and Coal lasts for another 200 years, then what? Why not start now, for a better future for not just America, but the world.

My way or the highway…that sounds like bipartisanship to me.
Posted by: lanawonders | September 22, 2008, 1:37 am 1:37 am
latest numbers to produce energy I found were:
solar: $0.45/kw
coal: $0.025/kw
nuclear $0.015/kw to operate
$0.030/kw with decomissioning+fixed costs
oil $0.07/kw
gas $0.05/kw
wind $0.10/kw
Most people would like solar if the cost was reduced by 90%. If all goes well the best subsidized cost in the future would be to cut it by 60-70% in 10-25 years from now.
Even with today’s oil costs, it is far cheaper than photovoltaic.

Only JM will invest in others that are proven to not only work today but are economicly feasable as well,

Dave in lv, good number check on energy. Now imagine if your business uses several forms of these energies, not just relying on one or another, but a combination. Your energy cost from oil could drop 60%, if you implimented solar and hydro.
Good job again for at least researching. Many people just make quick judgments without knowing.
As a Republican I too did not like Pelosi and Reid put in posistion. I hoped for the bi-partisanship, and was pissed when they were both Dems.

What are the top 2 carbon free emissions?
Answer: Solar and wind.
What happens when the sun goes down and the wind dies down as well?
1/3 of gasoline consumption goes towards the big rigs for freight to move our goods. If we continue to not drill for oil what will they use?
Posted by: Dave in lv | September 22, 2008, 1:59 am 1:59 am
Hydro is by far the best but new sources of hydro are virtually non-existant. Adding solar to Hydro or to anything only drives up the total cost.
Hydro is hated as much or more than nuclear. California and others are more inclined to remove electric generating dams than to build them.
Nuclear however has been found to be the very best source to make the hydrogen needed for fuel cells. Much of the nuclear power at night is wasted and unused.
Posted by: Dave in lv | September 22, 2008, 2:07 am 2:07 am
What happens when the sun goes down and the wind dies down as well? Batteries store this energy, to use with oil and other energy forms, still lowering your Oil energy use. Believe me when I say, the Local sewage plant, has discussed this with engineers for the last four years.
Posted by: historyforgotten | September 22, 2008, 2:07 am 2:07 am
Hydro is hated as much or more than nuclear. California and others are more inclined to remove electric generating dams than to build them.
Correct. Because they can damage the surrounding farmlands. Look at Chinas Great Dam. But under new desigins, hydro plants can also seperate Hydrogen and Oxygen from the H2O. New better designs, since 1998, are being worked on to be more farm friendly, and also allow, a redirection to newer farmlands. This also means lower food prices. Just because McCain has jumped on the bandwagon these last few months, does not mean he still understand the enviormental effects. His advisors are make=ing a good man, bad.

Oops, sorry for the double post.
Batteries have been found to be inefficient and costly over the long run. The cheap ones will last only 2 years with heavy use and the newer lithium batteries are expected to last 2-6 times longer but cost 10 times more.
Utilities, car companies and others are trying to develop better battery technologies. Nothing on the immediate horizon is visible.

RE: Donations.
McCain and Cindy split their donations equally. Cindy’s income was in excess of six million dollars from which John surely benefited. Looks as though their contributions are truly miniscule, especially when you look ata the recipients.
All the money went to the Cindy and John McCain funds which in turn gave much of it to their children’s private schools — and took a tax deduction for it.
John’s income includes $58,000. tax free 100% disability pension and $24,000 social security. His entire life, John McCain has fed at the government traugh, beginning when his father was in the navy and he got a free ride at the Naval Academy.
John McCain’s record does not support his new populist persona. He has always been in favor of welfare for the rich.

Because oil companies, are slowing down other technologies. They will lose money, if other sources become too available. There are still designers, who seek funding, from Obama and even some Republicans, to continue their techs. They have yet to ask McCain.

What were Obama’s donations prior to his presidential run? Wasn’t it close to zip?
Doesn’t Biden earn $250-350K per year and give to charities a grand total of $120-995 per year? Is there anyone more Scrooge like? Or should I say frugal or tight or …
Didn’t Obama give several speeches recommending we give our money to Katrina victims only to find via tax returns he and Michelle didn’t give a dime?

Margo,
After meeting with his advisors, Obama said he will give his position on the economic problems “some time in the future”.
His “thoughtful” expressions are bereft of any plan or action although he did mention some mom and apple pie goals.
I’m glad you liked them.

John McCain graduated fifth from the bottom of his class at the Naval Acadamy.
He got his appointment to the Acadamy because his father was an admiral.
Republicans seem to think that ignorance (Palin) is a virtue and that learning, knowledge, and intelligence and clear thinking is to be derided, prefering thoughtless shoot-from-the-hip-decision making (McCain) rather than careful consideration based on research and consultation with experts.
Even the Wall Street Journal said that John McCain behavior is un-presidential.

I wrote the campaign my thoughts and urged my friends to do the same. Tomorrow I am going to telephone them.

Didn’t they turn out ok?

Didn’t I also read the WSJ and Investors Business Daily both lampooning Obama’s and Biden’s well thought out and intelligent plans? I forgot what words they used to describe them but they were not flattering.

The three plans don’t match.

At the same time JM not only SAID he will work with Dems, he has done it numerous times on VERY controversial subjects.
I believe JM is also the only candidate saying he will try to get Dems positions in his cabinet.

WHAT does he mean?? Blackmail? I believe they’re talking about Palin’s ethics investigation into the alleged firing of a trooper for not firing her brother. It’s making me more skeptical of how now that her husband’s refused subpoenas and she’s hired legislators to try to stall the investigation.

re troopergate a Dem was appointed to lead the investigation with the agreement it would be fair and not political. It was known at the time he was also an Obama supporter.
Since he gave his word, prior to seeing any evidence presented, he gave an interview to ABC saying his committee will be giving Obama an “October surprise” that will throw the election to Obama.
In his mind she has already been convicted before anything has been presented.
What would you do if you were the Palins?
Posted by: Dave in lv | September 22, 2008, 3:38 am 3:38 am
I think that she should not being trying to stall the investigation, because the committee IS bi-partisan. When they were voting to even open the investigation, the vote was 12-0 in favour of investigating- and there were plenty of Republican Senators too, mind you.
It’s just that from what I’ve read that she has been firing her whole board in Alaska and then replacing them with her friends and stuff, that’s led me to believe she may have something to hide.

Dave in lv, McCain has only worked with Dems, who agreed to his proposals. This I see as fact. Obama HAS reached to Republicans, and even aloud for both parties to fix any loopholes with-in them. Republicans and DEms, have helped him with his energy proposals. McCain only lets those Dems who agree with his, wholeheartedly. Which has only been a couple of times.

Anyone who wants to pay 25 times more for electricity than they have to, knock yourself out. Go for it. Pay whatever you want to.
You do know of course paying far more for electricity will drive up inflation, make goods more expensive, possibly cause businesses to fail and jobs to be lost, but what the heck, at least you can feel good knowing the utility bill you can’t afford to pay is well diversified.
Sometimes diversification has a cost. A very expensive cost.
If and when solar, wind and other technologies can become competetive in price, I’m sure people will flock to them.

No, has the Defense Department worried about him in the last 20 years? No. is Ayers considered a terrorist and communist? No. He oppossed a war he felt was wrong. Did Ayers do bad things in the 60′s? Yes. And he paid time for it. When McCains advisors, were asked if they still belived Ayers is a terrorist and communist, they recieved no answer. The ads were dropped after the Dept. of Justice was asked by Obamas camp to investigate. True. No more ads.

Eight years in the State Senate Obama has accomplished reforming state ethics rules and capital punishment. He did promote early-childhood initiatives that advocates considered “innovative and progressive,” said Betsy D. Mitchell. And Palin did what in her eight years in a State Senate? You can not compare Palin to Obama. Palins record shows Major debt and crime. Schools that have little funding and a Police Force underfunded to keep up with crime. Sure, she has a gym that few visit. But Wasila has a Large debt to pay for it. Her road to no-where was completed earlier this year, but no bridge to connect to. The drainage system in Wasila and other towns were overlooked. Now the mayors and representivies are asking what to do. Does she have answers for them? No. She was just a bad choice for VP. That is one reason I turned from the Republican ticket this year.

NCLB dismantling public school system
By Michael P. Carson
Spectrum
Published on Monday, September 15, 2008 10:10 PM AKDT
Yes, the federal mandate “No Child Left Behind” is working. It has accomplished its goal of slowly dismantling public schools, and restructuring public schools by setting up unrealistic expectations for failure, not success. The federal government has consummated this by creating a law that “one system fixes all.” With this idea, public schools have not been able to get out from under this flawed, unfair and demoralizing mandate.
Yep sounds like Palin has the same problem. Funding does not seem to have reached all the the schools. Interesting. Maybe it helped pay for her ‘road to No-Where’. Alaska is hurting, and McCain choose Palin, as a running-mate. UUUGGGG!

But McCain says fish like oil platforms.

Is Palin a fiscal conservative? In Alaska, it’s hard to say.
The following article appeared on the editorial page of the Anchorage Daily News
Sarah Palin presents herself to the nation as a fiscal conservative. How does her record stack up?
As governor, Palin presided over the largest tax increase in Alaska history — but it was a tax increase paid by a handful of multinational oil companies. She took on the state’s most powerful industry and ensured Alaskans get their fair share of income from oil development, most of which occurs on publicly-owned land.
So she believes the same thing Obama does. How will McCain feel, when they argue over issues? Again, he picked her for a fading ‘wow’.
The Alaskain news, will destroy her. :)

Chris Cox nominated by
President Bush is a
political appointee.
He doesn’t understand
finance and markets.
Neither does Bush. Both
have MBAs from the
Harvard Business School
but clearly learned
nothing there.
Since his appointment as
chairman three years ago,
Cox has allowed unrestricted
naked short selling to go
on and in July 2007 did
away with the Uptick Rule
that governs short selling.
These reckless actions by
him led to bear raids in
recent weeks on the shares
financial and insurance
companies causing the
meltdown on Wall Street.
Last Friday, September 19,
after the crash, among the
first things Cox did was
to ban short selling of
shares of 799 commercial
banks, independent investment
banks, securities firms

His lack of knowledge of how
markets work, his actions
and inactions, contributed
significantly to the recent
conflagration on Wall Street.

How should any elected person react to an investigation?
1. Make sure the public documents taht are needed to prove your guilt or innocence are removed from public viewing.
2. Demonize the investigator.
3. Do not allow the investigator to speak on the radio. Ask your followers to shut swamp the station and not allow any discussion of the facts.
4. Repeat step 3 whenever investigator is scheduled to speak.
5. Do not respond to any items the investigator finds, just demonize the investigator.
6. If an ad is placed that is unfavorable ask the Justice Dept to launch an investigation into the group.
7. If Justice declines, add a second Justice Dept request to not only investigate the group but to also charge all of the groups donors as well.
8. Hopefully the Justice Dept will soon report to you and any who didn’t do as you requested will pay a price.
Do not allow free speech if it is negative.
Google “Obama Annenberg” and you will find all of the above taking place.
PS You may have to look further than wikipedia.
