Michelle Obama: Vote on Issues, Not Likeability and Attractiveness
"I would just encourage…folks who are undecided to look at the issues," Michelle Obama said today at an economic roundtable at McGlohon Theater in Charlotte, NC.
"This is just one of those elections where folks just need to be informed," she continued. "I can take off my wife hat and just put on my citizen hat and just say we have an obligation now to pay attention. Because we may decide to do something that is different from Barack Obama. But we should decide that based on our self-interest and what we think is best. And the only way that will happen is if people are paying attention and neighbors are talking to neighbors, and family members are talking to family members.
"People shouldn’t make a decision this time based on ‘I like that guy’ or you know, ‘she’s cute’ you know, this isn’t…"
The crowd laughed and applauded.
"And I’m talking about me," Michelle Obama continued. "But that shouldn’t be anyone’s reason for making a judgment this time around."
Polls indicate that voters who are determining their choice based on issues are planning on voting for Obama, while those voting based on character are opting for Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
Mrs. Obama also said that "folks up here aren’t asking for yachts and cruises and, you know, they’re not working on the third house…they’re talking about trying to keep –"
The crowd interrupted with applause.
"For the record, I didn’t mean that," she said, the audience laughing. "All I’m saying: there’s nothing wrong with having a lot of houses, but some people are just trying to keep the one."

I was saddened to read one reader’s negative comment about Mrs. Obama’s speech. It’s sad, really, to see this intelligent vibrant woman denigrated. I am white and middle-aged and would be thrilled if she were First Lady. She’s a real human being: smart loving and energetic, a true American original.

What a great idea, Michelle!
Vote based on issues not on looks.
Substance over style.
Sounds good to me.
I’m sure then that you will understand who this American will be voting McCain/Palin in November (and cuteness isn’t a factor)
Posted by: Typical White Elephant | September 18, 2008, 4:47 pm 4:47 pm
geevil, see now that is a smear. See, you vilified Michelle to sully her reputation.
Saying Palin is taking control of McCain’s campaign is not a smear as it does not attempt to destroy the reputation of either party.
What you did on the other hand was clearly a smear.

Posted by: obamamama | September 18, 2008, 4:52 pm 4:52 pm
Michelle is right. Vote issues not appearances. Be an informed voter. McCain ran an ad with Paris Hilton, Britany Spears and Obama, inferring he was a celebrity not to be taken seriously. It didn’t work. So it appears to get attention and the rock star treatment that he felt Obama was getting, he made a tactical decision and decided to run with Palin. It worked! Everyone was curious, people flocked to rallies just to see her. But as time goes on, people are beinging to see a lack of substance. It’s not too much of stretch to think that Palin is John McCain’s Paris Hilton.

I like Michelle better than her husband. She seems more geniune and much tougher the wimpy Barry.
But I notice they use the same language to describe America. Michelle has called it a downright mean country.
At Barbara Streisand’s party Obama said American would be less prosperous and meaner unless he is elected.
Looks like 20 years w/Rev Wright has convinced them of the evils of America.

“For all the Repub whining about how Sarah Palin has been treated, they’re not exactly fair or nice to Michelle Obama are they”
Funny story from Keith O.
O’Reilly was calling Michelle angry repeatedly.
When challenged by his guests for his reasoning, he said his radio listeners had told him of that impression that she was angry.
One commentator said that radio listeners had said the same of him.
To which he replies “but I’m not running for office…”
Then the light bulb went on, Bill realized where the conversation was going and how stupid he looked so he changed the subject.

I hope the American people see through all the fluff and do look for the facts, because Obama has nothing to stand on in the end.

I have no problem McCain had many houses. Cindy’s parents gave her fortune, and she expanded. That’s American dream. Her parents got it by hard working.
What did Obama’s parents give to him?
What kind of parents do we want to be?? Do we want to give something to our children?

To answer those who asked, Michelle Obama worked as an intellectual property lawyer for Sidley Austin, one of the top law firms in Chicago. As for taking and passing the bar, I can’t confirm, but she likely had to take the Illinois bar exam in order to work for the firm.

obamamama, you are wrong. Obama’s mother dumped him twice. When she died, Obama refused to see her the last sight. Looks like he hates her. I don’t need to mention Obama’s father, who married four women and had 8 kids.
Obama should not use McCain’s number of houses to attack him. That’s American dream. Lots of native Americans and immigrants got rich here through hard and smart working. I know some people who had more than one house. They are good people. Lots of small buiseness people like McCain’s policy, also like McCain’s patrotism. Obama can not assume his economy is better. H P Boston, so in other words she woulda been rich either way. The point is the rich are out of touch with the common people who could easily topple them from their ivory towers and leave them in a ditch. They should tread very lightly when complaining about having to actually pay their fair share. Dont give me the line of malarky about the wealthy paying the most taxes already because Im talkin about them givin up at least half of what theyve gotten. America is in desperate times and those at the bottom are at the end of their patience. If they love America they wont mind giving most of that up, and also if they enjoy living, they wont complain.

On July 4, 1776, America declared our independence from Great Britain and became a country free from the high taxes and government authority. Since then we have grown not only into a great nation, but the most powerful nation on earth. Our country has spirit, initiative and originality and the people are generous and aspire to achieve. Joe Biden the VP choice of Barack Obama wants us now to be patriotic and pay higher taxes! He wants more big government to make our decisions in life. He wants to take our money in higher taxes to redistribute to the choices that Obama and he makes….like Fannie Mae, AIF and Acorn—the record shows these are their favorite charities. He talks about returning to our grass roots. Maybe someone should give a history lesson to Joe Biden and someone can explain to Obama that we have 50 proud states in our Union. Hopefully the American people will not lose confidence in what we have achieved and can achieve. Obama wants us to give it all away and become a socialist nation. We will need to remove the American Flag and traditions as they will be hard to treat these customs in the same way anymore. It would be hard to salute a flag knowing that we have let down the many that have fought and sacrificed for our freedoms—Obama has already tried to begin to remove these symbols and create his own logos and emblems. He is not proud of America and the ONLY thing that is true about his campaign is that he wants to change our country.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (CNN) – Sarah Palin likes to tell voters around the country about how she “put the government checkbook online” in Alaska. On Thursday, Palin suggested she would take that same proposal to Washington.
“We’re going to do a few new things also,” she said at a rally in Cedar Rapids. “For instance, as Alaska’s governor, I put the government’s checkbook online so that people can see where their money’s going. We’ll bring that kind of transparency, that responsibility, and accountability back. We’re going to bring that back to D.C.”
There’s just one problem with proposing to put the federal checkbook online – somebody’s already done it. His name is Barack Obama

You don’t have to like Michelle.. As a woman, I don’t relate to her at all. Career above family? Not a choice I would make. Killing animals? Not for me. Pentacostal? No. Against a women’s right to choose? No. Lying to make myself look better? Not a quality I look for in friends or polticians.

Of course, Mrs.Obama doesn’t want you to vote for cute and likeability….she’s neither….no, not even inside. To say that she is more intelligent that the others, well, that’s not accurate—education doesn’t not make you intelligent—you simply have a diploma. Besides, she’s a total recist, so she’s not that intelligent. And, yes, I have friends of other races…..

Michelle said nothing that was hateful, racist or offensive in her talk. Some people just don’t seem to care about the issues. No wonder this country is in the shape it’s in. Come on people, use your heads. It isn’t about male or female, black or white. It’s about who can best lead this country and who can best reconcile our differences. Pay attention to the issues. It’s petty to show our fangs of hatred because of someone’s race, sex or age. We need to think about what is best for our country and we can heal our wounds.

I donno. I used to think Michelle Obama was kind of angry myself, but then she started reminding me of Oprah a little and then I realized it was just a strong personality thing combined with not seeing her laugh or having a wry expression on her face probably due to being stressed out all the time about people saying bad things about her husband all day long.

Thanks to many of you for demonstrating Mrs. Obama’s points.
- Why are you denigrating her looks and intelligence?
- Why are you claiming that her Princeton thesis was about black separatism when it was not?
- How does anyone possibly see “swarmy thinly veiled attacks” in her remarks?
- It’s now considered “sexist” to question Governor Palin’s qualifications but sliming Mrs. Obama is just fine.
- A “Baby Mama” is an unwed mother. Mrs. Obama is definitely married. You have her confused with someone else.
- How can urging people to vote on issues be considered a “fluff” issue?

At the end of the day, people vote for the candidate they like. We knew Reagan wasn’t as smart or experienced as Carter, but we liked him, and voted accordingly. The same is true this year. People like McCain and want to find a reason to vote for him. Like it or not, and absent any serious mistakes, he will most likely win in November. The Wall Street melt down will be old news in a few days. Had it come up in late October it might have swayed the election.

It is very dissappointing to see some of the post that people put out there about both Michelle and Sarah. These women are both mothers who obviously care deeply for their families. I sit here asking myself how did we become such a mean group of people. People die to come live in America and we take everything for granted. I am a Democrat supporter, but I am looking at all the issues and honestly, who evers wins this election, I believe that they will do a better job than our current president. I think we need to focuss on what matters to our families and our communities and stop attacking these women. Those of you that have written hateful things about both women should be ashamed. Ask yourself, would I want someone to talk about my mother, daughter or wife in this way? I would say no. Show respect and stop writing these things on these blogs.

Let me get the view of Republicans straight for just a second:
Barack Obama is best friends with Rezko (whom he bought a 15 ft strip of land from for over market value), Ayres (who allegedly blew up stuff when Obama was 8 years old to protest an immoral war), both of whom are white people. He’s apparently also friends with a lot of “crazy” Palestinians, also white people.
However apparently, Obama also hates white people.
Do you people not realize how stupid this all sounds?

Just last week they were poundind their chest because McCains poll numbers went up.All it takes to be a GOP canidate is get up on stage and threaten to blow up something or answer questions with one word answers. Looks like Palin left the little town she was Mayor of with a huge dept. According to the people that live there she came to office with a huge surplus. McCain voted against Bush tax cuts and then we started running he flipped and now supports them. He was all for deregulation and now what! The republican canidates and GOP know a lot and one of the things they know is the mass of rep. voters dont know a whole lot. Thats why they can tell half truths and bring in a canidate that is like Bush and and is the right gender and get votes. If only they cared about the issues and policies and not about Lipstick or a what country can we blow up next.

The assumption by many of you that Senator and Mrs. Obama could only have gotten into Ivy League Schools through affirmative action is laughable. You don’t get to be head of the Harvard Law Review through affirmative action.
Whites have had their own form of affirmative action for hundreds of years. It’s called “legacies.” McCain wouldn’t have gotten into the USNA had his Daddy not been an admiral. Once there, he managed to distinguish himself by graduating fifth from last in his class.
Our current President wouldn’t have gotten into Yale or Harvard had his grandfather not been a United States Senator from Connecticut and his father a Republican factotum.

OK can we say McCain is unpatriotic? I need an answer.

Note to Democrats… it’s ok to have more than one house as long as you can afford it. John and Cindy McCain’s finances seem to be in order, so I don’t care how many houses they own. Just as I don’t care how much money Obama spent on vacation in Hawaii… as long as it was his money he was spending and he doesn’t fall behind on his mortgage payment.
It is not a crime to be successful enough if life to be wealthy. Nor is is appropriate to tell the wealthy they need to give their money to another citizen just because that citizen is less successful. they can do so if they want, but it is their money and their choice.
Choice is personal even when it doesn’t involve a woman’s body, folks.

I actually like Michelle Obama alot. She has a way of connecting with people. She is honest and sometimes this honesty has gotten her into problems with news media misinterpreting or taking a quote and making it derogatory. Actually quote that blasted across new headlines for long time was not true. She does indeed have alot of patriotism. Look at the story of her life. Great example of what hard work may get for a person.
I have checked and found she is one to lie. Quite nice when this is sort of rampant at present. Michelle knows and understands the struggles of low-middle class Americans so well. This is where Michelle came from. She had excellent grades and got scholarships to be accepted top ivy legue schools. Yes, she may have gotten some scholarship through affirmative action, but maybe not. It all depends on what category the schools place her in. Even if she was got in on affirmative action she had to maintain good grades. Michelle actually excelled. Then was accepted to graduate work at top ivy Law School. Graduated with excellent grades. She is accompplished lawyer. And she does it all – family plus work. Very intelligent lady.
Saw her on The View. She was so much fun to watch with all the ladies. Everyone loved her as she is so down to earth and fun. Very innovative and entertaining! All claimed her to be extremely smart competent lady. They said she was so willing to talk long time after show. Big hit with them!
This lady deserves a huge round of applause for her success.

“p.s. Obama is down by 5 in Indiana.”
Of the two latest polls(including 1 that just came out), 1 has him up 3 and one has him down 4.
And this is a red states that hasn’t gone Dem in 40+ years and was once controlled by the Klan!
I don’t think he will win IN but that he is close has got to be very uncomfortable for McCain.

Some people just need to be convinced that Michelle is a media-stereotypical angry, militant, Omarosa-like black woman, and product of a quota system. This need is to satisfy their own unmet needs. Watching the video of Michelle’s performance today, I gasped in horror as I watched her, on the dais, still speaking to the audience, reach up and clean out her EAR. OMG. How unbelievable declasse. This woman does not have the class nor grace to be our First Lady. The way she was sprawled out on her chair, the faux “aw shucks” drawl, the very public grooming….all she needs is a haybale and a toothpick.
I note that the major of the media will edit out the ear-cleaning for the news release. I went to send the link to a friend and the video is now “not found”.

Palin can’t even get her story straight on her VP acceptance:Lying comes so easily to Sarah and she told her second and the family’s third story on accepting the VP offer from McCain:
Gibson Interview – she told him she had no doubts and accepted the offer on the spot which would have been in Sedona w/ McCain. You can’t “blink” I believe she used here as well.
First Dude w/ Greta – said the kids were not told anything until they were well on their way to Ohio for the rollout rally and that he had taken their cellphones away in advance of a special “anniversary” trip for the family to keep the secret.
Hannity Interview tonite – Hannity asked her if she had any hesitation and she said she did and put it to a vote w/ the “3 girls” and not her son since he would be off doing his “own thing”. They all supported it. Huh?? (John Neil)

Well, Michelle, I am voting on the issues, and that’s why I am not voting for your husband. The thought of your husband as President of the United States and you, as First Lady, is an abomination. When you both can prove that you are patriotic Americans and that you care more for the rights of hard-working people, rather than those of loafers, illegals, and Guantanamo detainees, then I might respect you somewhat. For now, just go away.
Posted by: JW | September 18, 2008, 11:26 pm 11:26 pm
Mrs. Obama is correct about voting for what you think is right and best. A lot of people who are voting just because they like the person’s characteristics are just not right. If your going to vote, do it because you agree with most, not nesaceraly all, issues, even if your not to hot about them themselves. You should really vote upon issue standings, not likeability. At the end of the speech, she kind of lightly addresses McCain, without saying any names, sometimes I do that just to annoy my step dad when he does something I don’t like, I start talking to my mom about him, and with out saying it’s about him. Mrs. Obama says that we don’t all ask for yachts and cruises, we just want to get by the best way possible. Then at the end, she says I’m not saying there’s nothing wrong with having 3 or 4 houses (again, lightly talking about McCain), but some of us are just trying to keep one house. I think that’s really true for most of America, because, yeah, there are those people with a billion house they can afford, but there are a lot more, who can just barely, if at all, afford one house. That kind of hits the point of yeah, there is a middle and lower class, and not everyone is richly rich.

So women should not vote for Palin because she is cute but it is fine to vote for Obama because he is “sexy”. {Barbara Walters can add him to her list if she finds him sexy. The rest of us dont]
And to suggest that there will be riots on the streets if Obama does not win the White House? Is he now sticking a gun to our heads … vote for me or else?
Obamas smell the “White House” and will say anything or suggest the inconceivable to win?
Riots if he does not win the nomination … and now RIOTS is if does not win the election …

America and the world are suffering from the blunders of Bush Administration
You want to talk about issues? Let’s talk about the stupid war on Iraq with thousands of brave Americans dead and injured. Let’s talk about the deregulation of the market and for consequence the collapsed economy. Lets talk of the billions dollars gifted to the oil companies resulting on today price of petrol.
What the ostrich and the Republicans have in common. Let me guess
Both hide their head on the sand and pretend everything is fine
What is important is not the color of the candidates.
What makes a President is the right Judgment. Be cool like cucumber in time of crisis. Not have 7 houses or family business valued at hundred of millions of dollars. Do not necessary have the temper to pick a fight but the temper to fight every day makes life of the community better.

People with income 250.000 $ or more, vote Republicans on 2000 and 2004. That is what the data confirm. In that case they should be prepared to pay for the economic chaos created by Bush decisions .Next time they should be more careful how they vote.
Just a minute McCain said the fundamentals of the economy are strong .Probably he was thinking about the family Business.

It is really sad once analyze why McCain select Palin for running mate.
The only criterion was how he could win this election despite the best interest of the country and the American people
America and the world is suffering with the blunders of Bush Administration
The economy have crumple and the prosperity of many people are under risk not only in America but also worldwide.
Because America doesn’t stand alone world have turn into a very small place and everything is linked
Sarah Palin running for public office, sound overconfident, untrained. rigid and answering with out vacillation
Yes I am ready to be President like that job is similar to a manager position on the local Wal*Mart
The same person last month was saying if some can explain to me what the Vice President do?
John McCain and Sarah Palin promise of change: Is a change to Nowhere
This election is not only about some bridge in Alaska it is about all the bridges and roads in all the o United States because they are all crying out for repairs and maintenance. This is because for the last 8 years the Bush and the Republicans have spent enormous amounts to build up Iraq and they have forgotten about the needs of their own country.

John McCain and Sarah Plain promise of change: Is a change to Nowhere.
Nowhere near to help the American people with a real economic change Nowhere near to bring troops home safely.
Nowhere near to build America’s independence from oil.
Nowhere near to help the 95% of the American families.
Nowhere near to help the entrepreneurs and working families to keep jobs in America.
Nowhere near to provide the medical care reform for the American people and the Veterans who they are not fought for the red and blue states of the electoral map They fought against the terror and to keep America on the map.
Barack Obama and Joe Biden probably don’t have all the answers to the problems of the America’s working families or farmers or the people under the fear of loosing their homes. Because of the failing economic policies of the Bush administration.
But they are ready to answer to the Americans for their policies and take responsibility for their decisions if they are elected to the White House

His repetitive selection of unsavory and unpatriotic associates,
His unpatriotic, possibly illegal and definitely unethical discussions with Canada about Nafta… saying one thing with a wink wink… and then denying it…
And his more recent discussions with
Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, asking him to delay the request for the withdrawal of US troops untila after the November elections?
Why is it that someone who hesitates voting for such an unscrupulous candidate….. is called “racist”?

- ´Obama has not experience enough to be president´
- ´Hillary is better qualified than me to be VP´
An insider that has been in Washington longer than McCain, has suffered from two aneurisms, plagiarized a speech from Neil Kinnock, voted in favour of Irak´s war, requested Sadam Hussein to be eliminated and failed in his two attempts for the presidency.
Gosp, this is really ´change´. Haven´t we seen him before?

I am suggesting changing the colors of the electoral map .From Red and Blue, to Black and White. Also I suggest Spanish language to be taught to kinder gardens with American / English like optional choice. Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez like guests of Honor at the day when Obama sworn President.
That is no bad idea is far better from have another 4 years of Bush administration with the puppet of the far right McCain as President .And then after he pass away have the Pit-bull with lipstick bombing Russia .

I glad Obama uses note cards. It gives him the opportunity to face the crowd. And use body language. He knows the American people are starting to focus again on policy, as Palins ‘WoW’ is fading. He make good, specific sense on the issues. And hasn’t beat around the Bush.

Please folks look at the judgement as well of Mccain. As a candidate first thing he has done is picking a VP just to get him the women vote and he talks about country first.
Palin’s first work as a Mayor – Putting the city council into debts. When the land dispute is going on the court she orders to go ahead and build the sport comlex and the people of wasila end up paying 1.5 million dollars for her decision.
Trooper gate scandal and she thinks she is above the law.
Bridge to nowhere, when congress kills it, she says no we don’t need it and takes credit for that.
Put friends in the top places whether they are qualified or not.
the list goes on.
the choice is clear. Nobody knows what will be the stance of Mccain on economy next day. monday he says something, tuesday chages it, wednesday says something else.
If you thing u r better off then what u were 8 years ago vote for Mccain
else
Go Obama/Biden

I am waiting for Ms. Obama to tell us how the $1000.00 tax rebate Obama is selling as a cut in taxes is any different then the $600.00 stimulus check.
To quote her on July 11, 2008
“You’re getting $600 – what can you do with that? Not to be ungrateful or anything, but maybe it pays down a bill, but it doesn’t pay down every bill every month,” she said. “The short-term quick fix kinda stuff sounds good, and it may even feel good that first month when you get the check, and then you go out and you buy a pair of earrings.”
Mrs. Obama also said that day that if her husband is elected he will offer more than a “quick fix” on the economy.
Well is a “quick fix” not what Obama is offering with his tax proposal of giving 94% of the people a $1000.00 rebate?
And when Obama let’s the Bush tax cuts expire will that not be taking more money from each taxpayers paycheck each week? The money in the pay check each week does help to pay down a bill each and every month.
You see I have no problem with a person spending there money on a pair of earrings but I do have a problem with someone selling me a tax cut that is really a tax rebate.
This whole tax cut of Obama’s is a shell game.

This also allows you to address the article and prove it wrong. As I said before, there are alot of reasons not to vote for Obama. These and many other articles out there bring REAL reasons to NOT vote for Obama. But unfortuneately, the people who are supposed to investigate the news (media) are too busy pushing Obama’s lies and misstatements.

From grumpybumpy’s 5:16:39 PM post:
“America is in desperate times and those at the bottom are at the end of their patience. If (the wealthy) love America they won’t mind giving most of (their money) up, and also if they enjoy living, they won’t complain.”
Obama has certainly unleashed a monster with the class war he’s waged in order to get promoted to President. In addition, he’s tried to incite panic by upgrading our current economic situation into a full-blown Depression.
These are two examples of Obama’s “leadership” and of the followers he’s attracting. Is this the change you want to see for America?

Contrary to your close minded belief. NYC carpenter. If all they had to play on was race! They wouldn’t have gotten this far in the election process. We all know in this country hard work and education doesnt get you any where, right. How can they place race card? What exactly does playing the race card if you are a minority get you exactly. I guess white priviledge doesn’t call for playing the race card. It is just given. Blacks and minorities have always had to work for everything they have, nothing is given. We all know that there are so many things just handed over to Obama and his spouse due to playing the race card. I guess going to Harvard graduating and become the first minority presidential nominee is all based on race. Get off of your condescending horse, buddy. I am voting for change not for what is familiar or what looks like me. Open your mind a little further. People all believe what they want. Perception is reality. Maybe you should expand your mind and horizons.

Maybe you’ll go blow up something or whos knows what else. I am passionate about my candidate but if he doesn’t win. If will be a wonderful thing to see a woman as VP. Who is also deemed as a minority. The world will continue to go on and so will life. YOu see I am not consumed by hate. I am just living and enjoying the best that life has to give! I guess Im just enjoying playing the race card! HA! LOL

Well, I didn’t hear Obama making a big show of saying, “I have made history! History! History, as the first African-American to the be the presidential nominee of a major party!” at the DNC.
He talked about himself as an American, not an African-American, Hawaiian, Ivy Leaguer or anything else.

Alright, please tell me what is it that Obama stands for that is not American. If you are going to talk about Jeremiah Wright, McCain has Keating 5 and so on.
“Country first”? Then why did he select an unknown for his VP spot, worse, an unknown who is shaky on foreign policy? McCain knows full well that he may not finish his term, if he were truly “Country first” he would have picked someone who was more solid on foreign policy to ensure they wouldn’t run America into the ground.

I wouldn’t exactly agree…Obama/Biden’s rhetoric has been heavy on issues and detail, while McCain is out there pimping Palin’s “hockey mum” and “small town girl” stuff.
Don’t forget McCain’s own, “I fought in Vietnam! I’m a POW! I didn’t break under the Viet Cong! I’m a POW!”
Of course his military service cannot be disregarded but he hasn’t been detailing his issues lately and is too pleased at any opportunity to swift boat someone to distract voters.

Bill Clinton says this about Palin: “She handled herself very well,” he said, “I get why she’s done so well. She, she’s, it’s a mistake to underestimate her. She’s got good intuitive skills. They’re significant.” Apparently Obama does not have this attribute. Obama relies on committees to formulate his policies so he can articulate substance in his GQ style. Apparently he will continue to rely upon these committees until he can get up to speed or wait till after being elected to shed his façade and do his own thing. The Clintons are backing Obama with less than a half-hearted effort for a good reason. The party loyalists aren’t backing Obama because he was chosen by popular vote but because this is their opportunity to have their party identity in the White House. The Clintons are worried about an Obama presidency and are torn between party loyalty and what is best for this country. There are changes that would be very bad for this country. Changes like giving in to belligerents and tyrants that are trying blackmail us into compromises on our security and national interest. The economy is the topic now but there are greater threats down the road with an Obama presidency.

Are these Republicans serious? and this “country first” slogan is getting old…no pun intended. But for a man who picked his VP solely as a political pick, even your beloved Karl Rove says so.
You honestly think that McCain and Palin have the intelligence and judgment to proposes packages to repair this economy. I didnt know they taught that kind of stuff at the Univ. of Idaho.
It’s funny…under Reagan our country went in to deep debt. Under Bush I we fought a war and the economy was no good. Under Bush II we fought another war and the economy went back in to shambles. Whats going to happen if McCain gets elected? A man that votes w/ bush 90% of the time is going to buck the trend and up start this very economy he has admitted he has little knowledge about. He said he would fire head of the SEC! He doesnt even have that power.

Now, now, who’s placing the country first, hmm?
“The poll found evidence of concern about Palin’s qualifications to be president, particularly compared with Senator Joseph Biden Jr. of Delaware, Obama’s running mate.
Nearly two-thirds said they would be concerned if McCain, 72, could not finish his term and Palin had to take over, a figure that cut across party lines.
In addition, 75 percent said they thought McCain had picked Palin to help him win the election, rather than because they thought she was well-qualified to be president. By contrast, 31 percent said they thought that Obama had picked Biden to help him win the election, while 57 percent said it was because they thought he was well-qualified for the job.”

Oh? Palin doesn’t know who started the Ossetian conflict (something that is COMMON knowledge) and didn’t even know the Bush Doctrine was some sort of policy. Obama is on the Senate Foreign Policy Committee.
And what have you got to say about McCain’s saying he “puts his country first?”
And I thought he said he would rather lose an election then put his country at risk?
Posted by: Grey Matter | September 19, 2008, 10:05 am 10:05 am

Posted by: C | September 19, 2008, 10:06 am 10:06 am
If you’re a patriot, you don’t have to shout that into everyone’s ear all the time. People can see your actions and then make their judgements from there.
And the poll shows what the people, including some Republicans, think about McCain’s choice of Palin- that it wasn’t based on “Country first”.
Posted by: Grey Matter | September 19, 2008, 10:11 am 10:11 am
WEll Bush had 2 terms! So he is really super qualified. But look at our current econonmy and state of affairs! I guess experience and qualification is supreme. You can be qualified but not accept the counsel of those around you! Every decision can’t be made based upon your ego/judgment. You have to make your own decisions! Wise counsel is also important! So people should keep saying experience/qualifications! But, if we are basing that on the last 8 years then anything would be better!
Posted by: C | September 19, 2008, 10:12 am 10:12 am
I was showing a distinction of how Obama puts Obama first. That is why I added the slogan “Country First”
Next time I will choose more wisely what I say. Sorry, I don’t have the privilege of using a tele-prompter for my speeches or my writing.
Posted by: Joe | September 19, 2008, 10:13 am 10:13 am
If you’re typing a comment online why would you need a teleprompter?
You know, Palin and McCain use teleprompters too. But Obama writes his own speeches unlike those two who read everything their (formerly Bush’s) speechwriters tell them to.
Posted by: Grey Matter | September 19, 2008, 10:16 am 10:16 am
Again, I am trying to make a point about the tele-prompter and how bad Obama will do when it comes time for the debates, when there will be no tele-prompter.
Did anyone see him when him and McCain answered questions in the church?
Obama could not find an answer and he stumbled on every question. Unlike McCain who was sure of his responses.
Without a tele-prompter.
Can not wait for the debates.

You can say what you like. Obama clearly shows he has substance. You can go to his website and find detailed plans on what he intends to do, unlike McCain who told reporters to “find it on his website” instead of answering a question.
Even if Obama messes up the debate, (which I highly doubt he will) from what he’s shown me so far, he clearly knows what direction he wants to take America in-and it’s a good one. McCain however, flipped flopped at least three times in the space of one day over on the economy.
Please also enlighten me as to how McCain had put his country first by picking Palin.
Posted by: Grey Matter | September 19, 2008, 10:25 am 10:25 am
How is Obama going to prepare for the debates. They aren’t speeches. He has to answer questions, off the top of his head.
Posted by: Joe | September 19, 2008, 10:26 am 10:26 am
I don’t care if Obama is black; I am not voting for him because of his stance – he is a far-left socialist! His plan to significantly raise taxes on “the rich” while cutting taxes on everyone else makes him sound like a “hero of the working class”, but what do you think the result will be? The rich own the businesses which employ us. Higher taxes mean higher expenses. This will NOT cause businesses to hire more people or create jobs – it will cause them to downsize or even close down and move overseas where expenses are lower. Since a successful business means higher taxes, there will be no motivation to expand economically.
Posted by: Rick | September 19, 2008, 10:26 am 10:26 am
He’s done that plenty of times. He even went on Billy O’Reilly, and Billy didn’t get to maul him and concluded that “he’s no wimp”.
Now, what about Palin who may sound good when reading off a teleprompter, but was left groping for answers on Gibson? Please don’t say he was being sexist. She should have been able to answer his questions, but she wasn;t able to.
Posted by: Grey Matter | September 19, 2008, 10:28 am 10:28 am
about the teleprompter. you try addressing an audience and read from a teleprompter and make is look genuine. try
i see your candidate trying it and he looks like he is in excruciating pain …reading like a third grader.
but you know he needs it because he will go off message and only God knows where he would end. He’s losing his marbles you know…. no no no not a swipe at mccain … just reality. he is at the age where that happens. you cant make him superman by nominating him for president.

How many time am I going to have to say this?
Fact is, unlike Obama, McCain has a higher chance of not being able to finish his term. A VP pick is not just to help shore up your credentials, it also to be a potential president. It already tells me something about McCain’s judgement if he decided to pick Palin. Obama, on the other hand, picked someone who is solid on foreign policy and experience and whom he can rely on for advice-and whom he said he didn’t want to be agreeing with him all the time.
McCain has flipped-flopped so many times in one day, wants to make tax cuts permanent even when we are stuck with a huge govt deficit. He still wants to continue the wars in the Middle-East but doesn’t have a way to pay for it. Iraq is running into the trillions now. Guess who is currently picking up the tab?
China, who is charging interest on our credit card, and they’re going to ask for the bill one day. Bush thought he could wage a cheap war, against all logic. During the World Wars, the Korean and Vietnam wars, taxes were raised to cope with the spending, and America managed to make it out without a gigantic deficit and ailing economy.

I think Joe Biden is about seven years younger than McCain. Obama is at the top of the ticket, and in my opinion, Obama, despite his youth, has a great clarity of mind and is able to see things differently- which is what we need- instead of the usual “EVERYONE IS OUR ENEMY!” “NO! I DON’T CARE IF TALKING TO AHMADINEWHATSHISNAME WILL MEAN WE CAN RESOLVE IRAN PEACEFULLY! THEY HAVE BEEN, AND WILL ALWAYS BE OUR ENEMY!”
If McCain had picked a more experienced running-mate considering his age and health, I wouldn’t be finding an issue with that. And even with McCain’s experience, Obama seems to have better judgement and actually considers things more carefully. McCain said he was for de-regulation, then said he was against it after the stocks crashed. He deplored Bush’s delusions of waging a cheap war and expecting it to not come back to bite us back in the ass. Now he wants to make tax cuts for everyone permanent-who is going to pay for Iraq then? China probably owns the US already.
To be honest, I had respect for the McCain of the year 2000. I didn’t agree with all his views, but he had my respect. He was a maverick then, but eight years later he seems to have sold his soul to win the nomination.

Hillary supporters that pretend to be supporting Obama–pretend to be unified with the Democrats.
But they still blame the DNC and superdelegates for backing a weak, egotistical, unqualified candidate with a shady past over Hillary.

Sally, please don’t insult other women. Many of them that supported Hillary supported Hillary for what she FOUGHT for, not because she was a woman.
Everything Palin and McCain stand for is a polar opposite to what Hillary does.
Palin thinks Roe vs Wade should be overturned.
And why is it when McCain was leading in the polls, the McCain camp said: Hah! Women are supporting Palin!
And now that the latest polls have reported that those independents and white women that went over to Palin have now swung back to Obama, you guys say that’s because some Hillary supporters are lying?

Joe
Experience is good but Judgement is GREAT.
26 YEARS in washington and he still don’t know much about the economy (he said that) not OBAMA
it appears he needs a goverment 101 course because he’s trying to fire people he don’t have the authority to fire.
just admit it … the guy is so out of touch he don’t have a clue. when you dont know how many houses you have and it takes something like this past week to get him to realize that we are in trouble to address the matter. AND GUESS WHAT. he still ..FOR THE 16TH TIME say the economy is strong
what a looney. sooory … happy voting for you… go ahead …
somebody in your state that’s smarter than you turned 18 today. they will nullify your vote.

Hillary said
No way No how
No McCain
No Palin
doesn’t sound like an endorsement to me.

Joe, from what I see and hear about Hillary Clinton, she would make a great president, but not a vice-president. She’s more of a leader in her own right, and she herself, it seems to me, may not be someone who would want to accept the VP role. She’d have to fall in line with Obama, and Obama probably knew that that wouldn’t be good for either of them. They’d most likely end up arguing over policies, since some of their viewpoints are different-not to the extent in comparison with McCain, though.
Now about your country first thing, sure, Obama could’ve picked Hillary if he wanted to make sure he won, to hell with whether that would be good in the long run. But he didn’t.
If Obama were sexist and looked down on Hillary, I don’t think he would’ve any qualms about using her as VP to win the election.
Posted by: Grey Matter | September 19, 2008, 11:03 am 11:03 am
Omentum, debates, wait for the debates.
You can’t wait, remember?
Judgement call, Hillary with 18 million votes or Joe Biden. Hmmmm. . .
What a call!
Posted by: Joe | September 19, 2008, 11:03 am 11:03 am
Grey Matter, I would have voted for Hillary Clinton any day of the week, over either of the candidates. She has the experience to lead the country.
Way more experience than Obama. The Dems got it wrong.
Posted by: Joe | September 19, 2008, 11:06 am 11:06 am
Hillary knows having a showdown with Palin will only give her more undeserved publicity and detract from IMPORTANT issues.
And Hillary simply is above making petty attacks that Palin probably wants so she can either play victim again or self-righteously slam Obama for making use of Hillary.
Posted by: Grey Matter | September 19, 2008, 11:06 am 11:06 am
Joe.
I think Biden was the smart pick and still do.
But Ms. Wasilla NO.
She is crumbling before our eyes.
What does she have to hide JOE. why is she being protected from the media JOE
Why won’t she participate in the troopergate investigation and prove to the world that she is above board. why wont hubby participate… what’s the problem….. dont she know by not addressing the cloud still looms over her head.
this tells me that there was some corruption going on there because this course of action of not participating would be less of two evils.
she came on the scene full of lies and now she is obstructing justing.
sound like the present adminsitration to me.
happy voting joe.
Posted by: Omentum | September 19, 2008, 11:07 am 11:07 am
Look, experience has to be coupled with judgement. McCain doesn’t seem to have that, while Obama does.
Now, if you read Hillary’s policies, you would find they have a lot more in common with Obama’s-there are differences, but there’s far more in common- as opposed to McCain’s.
Posted by: Grey Matter | September 19, 2008, 11:08 am 11:08 am
Palin, offered the one who got fired another position, he declined.
That’s all that they will find.
They are delaying only because it is a distraction from what is important.
Posted by: Joe | September 19, 2008, 11:09 am 11:09 am
The more she tries to stall the investigation, the more people think she has something to hide.
The best way would be to let it proceed, and since she didn’t do anything wrong, clear her name, no?
And it says something when a bipartisan committee consisting of Republican and Democratic senators voted 12-0 to proceed with the investigation.
Posted by: Grey Matter | September 19, 2008, 11:12 am 11:12 am
it is funny when you talk about barack speeches and the tele prompt just this week alone Mccain should have kept his mouth shut just look at the polls. Republicans has hurt america for the past 8 years it is time for a new look in the white house.

I WANT ANSWERS TO TROOPERGATE.
I would never vote for someone who obstructs justice. She said she would cooperate but pull this excuse out of this air and flipflops on her word.
she is a governor of a state. it is astonishing that the media is tiptoeing around this woman. she has proven to be a bare knuckle fighter … she took on her own party and “SHOOK” things up in alaska. Now how does she become the damsel in distress being attacked by the big bad wolf. please people look under palins fleece. you will see who the wolf is.

Omentum, it sounds like you are still trying to convince yourself about Joe Biden. He wasn’t the best pick.
Joe Biden said it himself.
Posted by: Joe | September 19, 2008, 11:13 am 11:13 am
Yes, Joe Biden is normally self-deprecating in a good natured way, like how he said Palin was good-looking (in comparison to himself) but the McCain campaign twisted it out of context into a “sexist” remark.
Now could you tell me how decreasing the amount of taxes paid will help us get rid of the govt deficit, pay for Iraq or future conflicts?
Posted by: Grey Matter | September 19, 2008, 11:17 am 11:17 am
Omentum, the answers you will get from troopergate are not the answers you are expecting. Those answers are only going to solidify Palin’s integrity.
She offered the guy a job that didn’t have any financial responsibilities, he declined. That is the answer.
What happened to her emails, Oh! there wasn;t evidence, story dropped.
Just like troopergate.
debates, omentum, debates.

Palin talks about a nuclear war as casually as discussing the weather. How delightful! We are all just so eager to die from the nuclear fall out!
She talks about the NATO alliance as though it were a gang. “You hurt one of ours, and we’re darn well going to beat the stuffing out of you.” NATO is more aimed at DETERRENCE. It’s not so simple, as though, “Damn! You shot one of us! That’s it, we’re calling in the calvary!”
Wars are no laughing matter and most countries including NATO members do their best to prevent one by using other methods first.

Tony Rezko
that is a slum lord in Chicago
His trial took place during the Primaries. Rememember. No implications on Obama (whether it was or wasn’t really some ties there) it is put to bed and from a legal standpoint we move.

Don’t worry. We see that. Plus since McCain chose Palin, several women’s rights groups have been backing Obama/Biden.

Maybe because they actually have a record for fighting for women’s rights, such as the equal wages bill, bills to protect women from domestic violence and so on.

Posted by: Joe | September 19, 2008, 11:53 am 11:53 am
You McCain people are amazing! You seen to find all kinds of excuse for not voting for Barack Obama and nothing that you hear will change your mind. Not the fact that whatever comes out McCain or Palin mouth are lies, not the fact that he flip flops on positions in less than 24 hours, not the fact that the VP is under investigation, not the fact that the past 8 years have been unbareable for millions of Americans. Nothing can be done or said to make you really look at both candidates and vote for what is best for you. Why is that? If Barack was a white man, he would be ahead by 20 pts by now. Yes, it is true that Hillary voters will vote for McCain, even though they know he would be bad for the country, however, seeing an educated, problem solving, people first man with new and fresh ideas that will only benefit America. Barack and Hillary plans were so similar especially compared to McCain, however, some Hillary voters or typical Democrats will not vote for Barack. They will post comments about how it’s not about color, however, we all know. There is no reason to lie to us, when you can’t even lie to yourself. Some would rather enduere 4 more years of hardtimes, instead of realizing that Barack is an American that loves his country just like they love it. The only difference is he is black. And for all those who will lie about this fact isn’t fooling anyone.

Yes, but Palin’s views contradict many Hillary Clinton supporters. Roe vs Wade for one. In my opinion, Palin has the right to be pro-life if she wants, but not to force rape victims to carry the child of their assaulter. They may have been enraged over it for a while, but many will in the end look at what Palin and Hillary stand for and make a decision.
Women’s top concerns are also the economy, and polls say more express confidence in Obama in handling that.
Posted by: Grey Matter | September 19, 2008, 12:01 pm 12:01 pm
If Palin gets in Office she can’t do anything about Roe v. Wade, that is a supreme court decision.
Posted by: Joe | September 19, 2008, 12:03 pm 12:03 pm
Grey Matter, it is true, historically Democrats are better for the economy than republicans. But Barrack Obama will raise taxes for the rich and for business, which will lead them to raise their prices on everything from Oil to Food, which will negate the tax break he gives to the 95% of us.

Omentum, I never mentioned Rev. Wright.
Posted by: Joe | September 19, 2008, 12:10 pm 12:10 pm
Joe, the President appoints the Supreme Court judges. And Palin could take over McCain-there’s a chance.
Even then, I disagree with her stance that other women shouldn’t be given a choice. Like I said, she has every right to be pro-life, but she has to remember America is a secular country. Not everyone is a Christian, not everyone shares her views.
I myself definitely don’t support abortion-what I am for is a choice for women. At least, with Roe vs Wade, we can ensure the mother makes it out, instead of the days before legal abortion where many women lived in fear and both mother and child did not survive. In the case of rape, the woman is bearing the burden of carrying the child, she should have the choice. Even if the child is born, how would he/she feel as being the product of a rape? Would he/she have a quality life?
Posted by: Grey Matter | September 19, 2008, 12:11 pm 12:11 pm
Grey Matter, understood. I think McCain will only be a four year term.
Hillary will run in 2012, and we will all be ok.
Posted by: Joe | September 19, 2008, 12:14 pm 12:14 pm
As to the taxes, we have no choice. Somebody has to get rid of the deficit before China hands us a bill with more than twelve zeroes and counting.
At least, with govt regulation, they can limit profiteering. Plus McCain’s plan only snowballs the deficit and does not alleviate at least a portion of it.
If we want to prepare for future conflicts with Iran/Russia, whatever, we need a strong economy to fund it. Any military in any country imposes a cost, and it needs to be paid for.
Posted by: Grey Matter | September 19, 2008, 12:14 pm 12:14 pm
I don’t know if the US (and the rest of the world too) can survive four more years of a snowballing deficit, an economy run into the ground and a streched military. There are other factors such as the rise of China and Russia.
Plus four more years is such a long time…
What’s to say Obama won’t give Hillary a position in his cabinet?
Are you the same Joe or another Joe? :o
Posted by: Grey Matter | September 19, 2008, 12:18 pm 12:18 pm
China, won’t be handing a bill to anyone. Unless they want our free trade agreement dissolved, which, will destroy their economy.
Posted by: Joe | September 19, 2008, 12:18 pm 12:18 pm
They’re footing the trillion over dollar bill for Iraq though. And charging interest.
They’ll be expecting us to pay back their loan.
Posted by: Grey Matter | September 19, 2008, 12:20 pm 12:20 pm
Same old Joe.
That is a lot to think about, but I think Barrack Obama has distanced himself now from Hillary Clinton so much so that some of her ex-campaign staff are now supporting McCain.
I do not think Barrack is prepared for foreign policy, not that things are great now. But I think McCain is favored on that issue.
Posted by: Joe | September 19, 2008, 12:22 pm 12:22 pm
Once the Iraq war is over, and we have rebuilt their country, they will owe us.
They are very rich in oil, they will foot that bill, not us.
Afganistan and Pakistan, that’s another sstory.
Posted by: Joe | September 19, 2008, 12:24 pm 12:24 pm
Hmm…I don’t know.
I do want a change from the whole approach the US has viewed the world. The whole problem of radical Islam. It’s not black and white, but from what Palin said, it was “terrorists hell-bent on destroying America…”, it seems pretty polarising. Obama had said that we had to recognize the different nuances of their intents, and that we couldn’t just lump them all together.
I mean, I don’t think everyone’s out their to get America, they’re just unhappy with how they feel America has imposed their will on them. McCain goes “I will be Hamas’ worst nightmare!”
I don’t need him to be anyone’s worst nightmare. To stamp out radical Islam, we must have the support of moderate Muslims. I would like us to be able to win our enemies over so we won’t have to start a war to get rid of them. In my opinion, if talking to the enemy is the way we can do that, I don’t mind. We are in no way conceding to them, we are just fighting with words instead of guns.
Posted by: Grey Matter | September 19, 2008, 12:30 pm 12:30 pm
If i want to choose between judgment vs. experience, I definitely choose judgment.
And for sure, in economy, Maccain has zero, or minus judgment.
Look which kind of advisers he has…. Phil Gramm was his economy Guru until he made a whiner comment.
Posted by: zen | September 19, 2008, 12:34 pm 12:34 pm
No one will convince radical-Islam or Hamas to stop killing Americans or our allies. Not Barrack Obama, or John McCain. They are fighting a Holy War and it is their way or the high way.
Sorry to use a cliche, but that is what they believe.
We can not convince our enemies to stop hating us. I don’t care who the president is. The best we can do as Americans is offer them a better way of life. If they choose to reject it, we brush off our feet, and move on.
Posted by: Joe | September 19, 2008, 12:38 pm 12:38 pm
I wish it were that easy in Iraq, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon…
The surge has contained the violence for now, but in the long run, I don’t think Iraq will be stable for a while.
If you look at our history and the history of European countries, the transition to democracy from theocracy, monarchy, dictatorship and whatnot was bloody and took place over hundreds of years in civil wars and conflicts. But yet our democracies are the most stable ones compared to Asian countries. No foreign interference helped throw out a rogue govt, our people rebelled themselves in the Anglo-American war.
In a democracy, you need many other institutions to support it. A free media is one. An open culture is another.
Such things cannot be transplanted, and I think that is the mistake we made. We underestimated the sectarian divisions that were hidden by Saddam’s iron grip on power. Iraq was first under colonial rule, then under a dictatorship. People’s mindsets also need to evolve to keep in step with the times to support a democracy. A sudden paradigm shift like what we did in Iraq has left it with shaky foundations.
In the US, we transitioned slowly ourselves without a sudden regime change. To rise up to fight and rebel, I think, people’s mindsets had to believe in democracy, which is why the democratic institutions in our country are more strongly upheld and preserved.
Posted by: Grey Matter | September 19, 2008, 12:38 pm 12:38 pm
Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Afganistan. . .
they will never be stable, ever.
That area of the world has been like that for centuries, and it will conitnue, for centuries.

Posted by: Joe | September 19, 2008, 12:46 pm 12:46 pm
Well, even if the US can’t please everyone in the world, I believe we can make less enemies.
True, there will be pockets of radicals out there. But we can dry up support for them by giving them less reasons to find fault with us. They feel the US victimised Iraqis. They feel the US unfairly sided with Israel over the Arab-Israeli conflict.
Palin said not so second-guess Israel-something we should never do. We may support them, but we cannot just close our eyes when Israel sometimes indiscriminately caused loss of civilian life.
Those places in the middle east, I think, for them to find peace will require a social evolution over a long time, which we will not be able to see happening right now.
Posted by: Grey Matter | September 19, 2008, 12:47 pm 12:47 pm
The US and Europe were unstable themselves a few hundred years ago, rife with civil wars and bloody conflicts. We just evolved ahead of the rest. Then again, in ancient times, the ancient Chinese and Persian civilisations flourished while we were in the Dark Ages…
Posted by: Grey Matter | September 19, 2008, 12:50 pm 12:50 pm
Grey Matter, agreed. The middle east is mess. Personally, I don’t think we should have been there in the first place.
Posted by: Joe | September 19, 2008, 12:51 pm 12:51 pm
Yeah…to tell the truth, America sort of caused part of the mess.
Like all those groups of insurgents from which Al-Qaeda originated, the CIA trained them and funded them or some stuff to offer resistance against the Soviet Union or something during the Cold War. The whole Iran thing too. I’ll admit the Carter admin messed everything up there by supporting a dictator.
One thing that’s bugged me is things like the genocide in Darfur. Obama is someone who has strongly supported action to be taken against the Sudanese govt, I don’t know about McCain. We said “Never Again” in Rwanda. Yet, the killing is going on before our eyes, once more.

Depressingly, what was chosen was an aging male who doesn’t speak my language. Sarah Pallin is what we needed on OUR side. She is my demographic. As I find myself pondering the election, I will vote with my Party. But, Sarah makes it hard for me to even remember Obama’s running mates name….is it Joe?

I like Michelle, and I’m really tired of people bad mouthing her.. You need to look at yourself before you put someone else down. She was just saying to people that they should make the choice that’s in there best intrests. Most of the people who are pro McCain sound kind of crazy I haven’t heard a logical or intelligent argument based on any kind of facts at all. Obama isn’t a friend of John Ayers the guy wasn’t even born yet when he was blowing up buildings. If you want a creepy old man who keeps saying “My Friends” “My Friends” and then lying through his teeth to be your president then go ahead be my guest! Who the hell says they are your friend and then lies to you again and again. I think Obama is way more capable and experience doesn’t matter if it’s experience making decisions over the years that got us into the awful place we are right now.
Posted by: Sara | September 19, 2008, 3:07 pm 3:07 pm
Lisa L, when you mentioned that you were disappointed with Obama’s running mate choice because Joe Biden does not match your “demographic,” are you saying that you plan to vote for the ticket that looks most like you?? Assuming you would have voted for Obama if he had chosen Hillary, wouldn’t it make most sense to vote for the candidate that would most likely ACT like Hillary rather than the one the LOOKS most like her. Besides being a white mother, Sarah Palin is the OPPOSITE of Hillary Clinton. I’m begging you, please use your head here and not vote simply out of your desire to see a woman in the white house. Don’t worry — if you are only 47 — that will happen in your lifetime.

Middle East? The middle east has been at war for thousands of years BEFORE America was ever born! We can’t concentrate on making them like us, it won’t happen, they don’t want to BE like us (but) many in the middle east would prefer to see the west blown off the planet… I for one will always remember 9/11 and crying as I watched my TV and the events unfold. Too many Americans are forgetful of that day. Do I think Obama is the man for a secure America? Not no but hell no.

“Once the Iraq war is over, and we have rebuilt their country, they will owe us.
They are very rich in oil, they will foot that bill, not us.”
i do not think that is even marginally likely. i’m know expert, but i suspect we, Americans, will still be paying, at least, $3.50 a gallon for gas. their country will never be completely rebuilt. the ongoing process to rebuild their country will continue to be fed by our tax dollars. soon enough, we will need someone to dig us out of our own whole.

A parable for Hillary Clinton voters now supporting McCain/Palin:
Bob lives in a small town that has only two grocery stores, Store A and Store B. Store A has fresh food, friendly service, and reasonable prices. Store B has rotten food, rude employees and overcharges.
Both stores usually use blue grocery bags that Bob likes because they match his eyes.
Bob naturally shops at Store A.
One day, while at the check-out line he finds that Store A has changed from blue bags to green bags. Bob is not particularly fond of green. He leaves his groceries in the cart and storms out of the store, cursing the manager.
He spends the next four years eating rotten, overpriced food bought from rude people, but gets to carry them home in pretty blue bags.

The only way for use to get out of the middle east and be energy independant is to vote for McCain/Palin. They will create thousands of jobs for the middle class.
No energy independance at all with Obama/Biden, and continued middle east dependance.

With all the “nastiness and lies” coming from the McCain camp is it any wonder that the Obama camp is trying to hit back a little. As for Michelle Obama opening her mouth, this woman has a LAW degree from Princeton U. that she WORKED hard to get, unlike someone else I know. Michelle doesn’t have to use “veiled” comments. How about little Ms. Ice-cap? Each and every time she opens her mouth all that comes out is nastiness and lies…looks aren’t everything…most people will choose “class and honesty” over appearance which little Ms. Icecaps has NONE of….

Also, for all you Hillary/McCain Puma’s: If you think Hillary will win in 2012 if Obama loses this election YOU are WRONG..Hillary recieved 18 million votes just as Obama recieved 18,500. The different is Obama recieved lots of votes from voters who will not vote for Hillary..Young voters and Blacks are not going to vote for Hillary in 2012 if Obama loses this election, so all of us better get ready for 16 years of Republican rule…oh, well…so be it…This country is going down the drain…Hillary/McShame 2012 & 2016 & 2020…all you Puma’s can thank yourself for the ruining of this country…I’m going GREEN after this election so I won’t be voting Democratic after 2008.

Vote on Issues, Not Likeability and Attractiveness – makes sense to us, but don’t tell Davis its personalities and appearances that count for the McCain’s Campaign not the issues!

Of course she’d say that, as being neither likable nor attractive. It’s all that anti-America sentiment that distorts her face.

Obama – “we should decide that based on our self-interest”
A far cry from “Ask not what your Country can do for you, but what you can do for your Country”
Stop the Entitlement Attitude by voting for McCain

Obama got her house the Democrat way. A crook gave it to her husband in return for political favors.

Michelle Obama is not even attractive and needs a solid makeover. She should go on the Oprah show. And if Cindy McCain bought several houses its no big deal. She has the money and Obama doesn’t.Hillary Clinton can own several houses also. Oprah has more than one house. What has owning several homes or condos got to do with campaigning for the presidency. Michelle should stay home with her daughters and stay out of politics. Its a silly topic. Stay with the issues and the changes for the country.

Greendale: Michelle Obama does not have the speaking voice of Hillary, Cindy or Palin. They walk, speak and dress like first ladies. Michelle would need training. And it was already stated if Obama wins this election she has to get a makeover and stay quiet.

Denise: Get with it. Obama may not win this election and Hillary will run in 2012. She lost the nomination thru Nancy, Dean and Reid who pressured the superdelegates to vote before the election. She feared that Hillary would win and she did not want Hillary to win the presidency. Pelosi is a very jealous woman and wants to be the only woman in charge. I hope the republican’s take back the house to get rid of her.

It is good to be a little humble and respectful to the constituents now that her husband desperately needs womens` votes….a few mistakes as well reminds us

My comment is that people need to come off it and see what is in front of them. There is no way we will survive if McCain is in office. Sleeper McCain needs go sit down and take a long nap because that is exactly how he speaks and he has know ideal with the #@%# he is saying. All you Republicans go jump ship.
