Nancy Reagan ‘Very Impressed’ by Obama, Ron jr Says

Former First Lady Nancy Reagan is not attending this week’s Republican convention but her son, Ron, is. Newsweek.com’s Tammy Haddad and her TamCam caught up with the son of the Republican icon.  You can watch it HERE and hear Reagan describe his mother’s fondness for the current Democratic nominee.

“John McCain and my mother have known each for years and years. Her parents, and Cindy McCain’s parents go way back in Phoenix, Arizona. She’s grateful to John McCain for standing with her on the issue of stem cells and, of course, has officially endorsed him. She’s fine with John McCain, as I said, they’ve been friends for a long time."

“I can tell you though that she’s also very impressed with Barack Obama…she’s just impressed by his demeanor, is not just that he’s an eloquent guy and a guy who gives a good speech, a lot of people said that about my father too. But she sees through that. She’s been around a long time and she looks at Barack Obama and she sees the words, hears the words and she perceives character there. She thinks this is a good guy, a guy who means well and is a strong character,” Reagan said.

And Ron, who has rarely shared the political perspective of his parents, had this to say about Sarah Palin, “Sarah Palin is in no way qualified to be vice president or certainly president. John McCain is a 72 year old cancer survivor, not just any cancer, melanoma. Not just any melanoma, melanoma above the neck. It was his obligation to choose somebody who could realistically step into the big chair and Sarah Palin is not that person.”

Haddad, always quick with the follow up, added: “What does your mom think of her?

But on that one, Reagan did not have a comment from his mother. “I haven’t spoken to her about Sarah Palin. I have no idea.”

Wow…wasnt expecting that one. Obama is having one heck of a great week considering this is supposed to be Mccain’s week!

I was not a Reagan fan (didn’t like what he did to the air traffic controllers) but I always thought the family had class. Thank you Ron for being honest. What you said is exactly how so many of us feel about this election.

Sarah has EXECTUTIVE experience *running a government* (something NONE of the other candidates can actually boast, even John McCain as Governor of Alaska and got there by defeating the *incumbent* Republican Governor, who was definitely part of the “old school” and who WAS very much in the pocket of the big oil companies. We in Alaska wanted change – and we got it in the person of Sarah Palin!
Sarah Palin is everything she looks to be and more. Her approval rating as Governor of Alaska has been as high as 95% and is currently leveled out consistently in the upper 80 percentile throughout the state (and in both parties) – the HIGHEST approval rating of ANY sitting Governor.

Everyone should doubt what Ron Jr. says about anything.
Why? Because Ron Jr. has been trying to get media attention for himself since his Dad was president.
We already know that Nancy Reagan has endorsed John McCain.
Does anyone really believe that Former President Ronald Reagan would vote for Far Left Obama if “The Great Communicator” was still alive?

At Nancy Reagan is wise and smart. She is not fooled by the hype of the Republicans. You see Nancy knows the true from the fake.

The Reagans understand that America’s greatness in the world will revive under Obama just as it revived under Reagan. Obama, who is as beloved in the countries of our close allies as he is at home, will give America enormous powers that will have a great and very positive economic impact on American bussinesses. Bill Clinton had that effect as well.
The election of McCain would be a TOTAL disaster for our once shining and exemplary country. The country would simply collapse, Wall Street first.

Thank you, Ron and Nancy, for being so honest while too many other Republicans are either in denial or too afraid to speak the truth unless caught accidentally by microphones.
McCain/Palin is finished. Over.
And to think they haven’t even accepted their nomination yet!
All aboard the McSame and Failin’…

It seems the more the Republicans try to sell Palin and say she has the highest this and the best this I am very suspicious. If she is doing such a good job why don’t someone go to Alaska and interview some of the regular people and not the Republicans–This post by G0USA247 in on the McCain payroll. I like the people from Missouri
I will stand by and watch but you have to show me. All questions will be answered soon enough!!

We need to get over worshipping former leaders and beatifying them. Instead of looking backwards, it’s time to move forward.
To me, the best part of Obama’s speech was the part where he said that it’s time we find what we agree on rather than focusing on what we disagree on. I believe that in spite of the partisan nonsense going on right now, McCain thinks the same way. That’s enough hope for me.

GoUSA247,
Yes, an approval rating that she shares with Putin across the Bering Strait. No wonder that they like her; she puts Alaska first, securing billions in federal earmarks for her state.

The Governor Palin pick would be more “effective” if she was a Governor in her second term or the end of her first term and from a state with a “larger” population. It would support his campaign of “experience” that he ran on all year long. He is changing his slogans every other month. I forget what his original slogan was but he immediately changed it the night Senator Obama received the delegate count to be the presumptive nominee, “A Leader You Can Believe In”, which was not original. The McCain camp borrowed Senator Obama’s campaign slogan which he HAS NEVER changed. Now it is “country first”, a ploy to convince the easily swayed and scared to question his democrat opponent’s patriotism. We forget 911 happen on a republican President’s watch.
Governor Palin was selected to do just this, attract attention to John McCain’s woeful campaign. He did not count on it attracting NEGATIVE attention. And of course, the second reason was to garner women’s votes, but this woman, Governor Palin, doesn’t support anything a woman would.

Posted by: CitizenAJ | September 3, 2008, 8:46 pm 8:46 pm

People keep saying Palin has executive experience.
Sadly they missed the part where she almost got recalled as mayor. Try to censor books. Engaged in crazed loyalty firings like the Bush Administration. THEN left her little town of 6000 with a debt $22 million.
And as Governor. . . . even her own state papers and Republican state colleagues think she’s a joke. Troopergate, Bridge to Nowhere, Alaskan secessionist membership, and bankrupting an historical milk factory. There’s just too much to list.
She has experience. It’s just all incompetent. And no, that’s not because she’s a woman. That’s what she did.

WHO CARES…..NANCY REAGAN HAS ENDORSED McCAIN/PALIN!
ME TOO AND MILLIONS OF US. Women voters are 54% of the population and many were sickened by what they did to Hillary…so glad we just learned a lesson and so quickly have a chance to jump on it. Palin more qualified than the “suit” on the top of their ticket!
What a joke.

Ronald and Nancy Reagan were apparently friends with McCain’s FIRST wife and were not happy with the way he treated her. I’ve read they gave the discarded wife a job in the White House and were very fond of her, and very cool to the discarder after that.

Happy to know someone has checked how the Reagans felt about McCain leaving his first wife, they wouldn’t talk to him for years.Guess I don’t understand being a loyalist just because, because? I’m an Independant and have watched both conventions on PBS and never heard so many untruths and half truths on both sides,so far Republicans win that, but its not over.Hard to believe people will believe anything and write anything without really checking it out for themselves.Seems like a nation of sheep. What will happen to this great country really concerns me.

@Debra
Seriously? SERIOUSLY?? Are you that unconcerned about your daughter’s welfare that you would vote for this “woman” who’s against reproductive health/birth control education, who has line-item-vetoed funding for shelter/food/education for unwed teenage mothers (even having one herself, suddenly), for governmental corruption, cronyism, and abuse of power comparable and possibly exceeding that of the Bush administration? You were never a Hillary voter, and you’re being disingenuous by trying to fake it here.

Ron Reagan Jr. hinted at a little mentioned health risk: McCain’s 4 bouts of melanoma were on or above the neck. CANCER SPREADS UPWARDS, not downwards.
A 72 year old man statistically has a 20% chance of dying within the next 4 years. That is WITHOUT calculating in the risks from the melanoma and the cumulative effect of 5 years of imprisonment and untreated injuries.
When it comes to putting the country first, it requires making tough choices that are in the best interest of the country – even if they are not the best gimmick for winning an election.

Debra: You are so right. Those that make comments against McCain and Palin are showing their fear because they know now that she is feisty and will not take anything from Bidern or Obama. The news media at the convention said it was a historic speech, not a JFK copied speech that Obama used as usual. Yes, he can run this country and run it to the ground. He took that world tour because he wanted the Americans to believe he knows foreign policy. Like the former Mayor of NY said, Obama never ran a state or a business and cannot run the country. What he did have at age 17 was an excessive drug and booze habit and it wasn’t for a short term. He was a street organizer in Chicago on the southside but I bet it wasn’t in Englewood. And how long did he do that? Anyone can give good advice to young people. That’s not a job. That’s just talk. I can’t wait to hear a debate between Biden and Palin.

Posted by: Mariann Pepitone | September 4, 2008, 1:29 am 1:29 am

Debra: I don’t believe a word that comes out of Ron Regan’s mouth. Mrs. Regan is a staunch republican and would never back up a democrat. Its Ron himself that likes Obama but is putting it on his mom. Let’s face it Ron is a democrat not a republican. Ron and his father were not on speaking terms for years and his sister that passed was not on speaking terms with her father either. The fact is President Reagan would not allow his children to run him and they made comments about their father. Don’t believe anything that comes out of his mouth. There is a lot of jealousy from democrats towards Palin and I think they fear she can make McCain win the election and also because she is the VP on his ticket that Hillary not got. Obama’s supporters should think about that and wake up to the fact that there will be thousand’s of women voting for McCain that voted for Hillary no matter what the media says. And don’t believe the polls. The media wants people to believe that Obama is winning McCain when McCain is winning Obama.

Posted by: Mariann Pepitone | September 4, 2008, 1:40 am 1:40 am

I’m curious…what exactly did “they” do to Hillary? She lost the nomination fairly…noone did anything to her. She simply lost. I know some people can’t accept defeat, and would rather believe something evil happened here…but she simply lost. Get over it. And if you supported Hillary but now support McCain then you were not a real supporter of Hillary, you couldn’t possibly be a supporter of Hillary if you support McCain now. Its just impossibe. So stop pretending you were.

Posted by: Paul | September 4, 2008, 1:43 am 1:43 am

Titus: Don’t be angry because McCain picked a women for VP that has more experience and knowledge that Obama ever will have and what is he doing running for president at age 47? We all know he is a know nothing, do nothing and says nohing. He picked Biden to do the talking for him because he lacks the know how. Do you know what college did for him? He learned how to be a drugger, boozer for a long time. That’s the highly educated Obama.

Posted by: Mariann Pepitone | September 4, 2008, 1:46 am 1:46 am

Paul: You certainly don’t understand politics and you don’t know the whole story of why she lost either. You should be aware of the fact that Pelosi didn’t want Hillary to have a roll call or have her delegates in all 50 states because she was afraid some of the superdelegates would switch so she told her to only count 32 states and cancel her roll call. I can guarantee that Palin would tell Pelosi to take a swift jump. Hillary let Pelosi and Obama get away with that. I am a Hillary supporter but no an Obama supporter. I wouldn’t vote for Obama even if Hillary was on the ticket because every vote counts.

Posted by: Mariann Pepitone | September 4, 2008, 1:51 am 1:51 am

con me not: Obama is a real leader alright. No doubt he was a leader of all the drug and boozers in college for a long time. And I also think that some of the people making comments about McCain and Palin are also take drugs to keep them alert as stated on the internet. I am willing to bet that many of the young women today will never accomplish what Palin did in her young life and the young men of today will probably not accomplish what McCain did in his young day. You have to work to make your goals in life and that’s what they did.

Mariann -
Please take your Prozac and go to bed…
I’m sorry, taking drugs is obviously not a great thing to do. Leaving your disabled wife after she is disfigured in an accident for a younger, prettier model is disgusting. But, you will still vote for him?
All of the Hillary supporters who say they are voting for McCain are ridiculous. You will honestly vote for a man that offered his wife up for a topless contest? You were never true Democratic Party Members if that were the case. This entire election (Hillary’s defeat) is apparently personal to you. Please just stay home on election day. I am sick to death of the bitter people who whine constantly about her having the election stolen from her. SHE LOST. I definitely would recommend some therapy for you.

I have always respected Nancy Reagan! Wow! What a de facto endorsement! She, like anyone in America who truly loves this country, is scared to death of what Karl Rove and George Bush have created, and she knows that John McCain will do the same.
John is a decorated war hero who did not cave into his captors; but, he is now a coward who caved in because of pressure from the religious right!

I have a strong feeling that the people complaining on this board about how ‘Hillary was mistreated’ by Obama are paid republican political operatives trying their standard swift-boat tactics spreading lies to divide the opposition and generate momentum for their pathetic ticket. McCain didn’t even have the courage to stand up to the religious right in his own party, and this preposterous fake ‘hockey mom’ who believes her daughter’s pregnancy is a private family matter (except for campaign photo ops) but that everyone else’s pregnancies should be a matter for government legislation. Totally disgusting GOP behavior – they richly deserve the butt kicking that’s coming their way.

Posted by: losangelina | September 4, 2008, 4:27 am 4:27 am

I’m having trouble keeping up with the talking points. I see people using stats that are not true. Palin has a 65% approval rating and dropping. She left her HUGE small town in debt. She raised taxes. She did accept earmarks. She has a history of using her position to wrongfully terminate people. Everything that she is claiming is a lie. She may not even get to November since she is under investigation for abuse of power.

Sorry ABC. Your Obama endorsement gambit — with the ne’er-do-well Reagan son Ron putting words in the former First Lady’s mouth — is not very convincing.
Of course, I’m not surprised that the would-be dancer, who has never hidden his liberal bias, and the ABC TV network have been taken in by all the hype surrounding the Illinois Senator. Indeed, even a casual look into the Obama “story” reminds one of the lack of substance regarding the candidate, which is not unlike the superficiality and lack of substance associated with so many Hollywood movies and television programs.

Nancy Reagan was one of the coldest first Ladies ever. She did not relate well to middle America so we really do not care what she thinks. She did very little for America and she did nothing overseas- unlike Cindy McCain who travels the world, helps children get medical care, adoptions and donates heavily to charity. Nancy Reagan cannot even come close to Cindy McCain or Sarah Palin either. As for the Obamas -yeah the speeches are mesmerizing but after the koolaid wears off you start to wonder why Obama is so VAGUE and why he tap dances around every question. When does life begin ?? Obamas half-#$@# answer “thats above my pay grade !!!!! ” What a fake he is ….NO Bama !!! As for Ronnie jr he should go back to being a ballet dancer – he is no journalist !!!

I bet Republicans weren’t expecting that one…I totally agree with Ron, Jr., Gov Palin is not ready for the VP position. Her selection shows a serious lack of judgement on the part of Sen McCain. Between now and election day the media will have the opportunity to closely scrutnize Gov Palin and I’m willing to bet its not going to be pretty.

I can live with that, “Sarah Palin is in no way qualified to be vice president or certainly president” as long as you can live with “Barack Obam is in no way qualified to be president”. A double Standard – Not qualified for vice president means you can’t take over for president, but if elected, Barak Obama would be president and you wouldn’t have to wait for anyone to die to have an UNQUALIFIED person running our country.

Some female Hillary supporters are going to blindly vote for Palin even though Palin is anti-choice even in cases of rape and incest? Even though Palin believes in abstinence-only education? Palin would undo what feminism has accomplished throughout the years. She would bring women so many steps back, and will hurt the general impression that the world will make of women in this country because she has no official stance on foreign policy issues -she got her first passport last year for god sakes! There are many highly qualified women that McCain could have chosen. As a woman, I will wait to vote for a woman who I and the rest of the world can respect.

Nancy, Ron !!! This one is for the gipper. May all republicans rally behind Obama/Biden. You have to support aspirations of people, feel their pain, call for immediate solutions. Remember what the gipper said: “Breakdown this wall”…the wall between nations, people. Let there be government for the people, by the people, of the people. What good is a war heo, who calls for continued killing of American soldiers, spending billions a month on a cause so far removed from American people, their needs, their aspirations/

Palin has experience running a local governement as mayor and left them with a deficit. She hasn’t been a governor long enough to see if the state will be left with the same deficit. I hope if she goes to the white house, she and McCain wont contribute more to the deficit we already have.

I’d like to hear it from Nancy’s own lips! But I really don’t expect to.

losangelina, ‘I think the only people not impressed with Obama are the ones that can’t get those republican talking points out of their heads.’
You’ve lost with with you poor use od double negatives.
The only reason I’m not impressed with Obama is his association with felons, with Rev. Wright who has been exposed as an unAmerican racist, his unpatriotic wife, his elitism, and his lying message about all that he wants to do as president without telling how he plans to pay for it.

Although I did not agree with many of Reagan’s policy, he will be remembered as a great leader…..
So, here’s the list of great presidents:
George Washington
Abraham Lincoln
Franklin Roosevelt
John F. Kennedy
Ronanld Reagan
Barack Obama

“NO WAY, NO HOW, NO McCAIN”
Are you kidding. Experience/no experience. Enough is simply enough!!! The Republicans will not tell the truth to the American people even if it means winning an election. It was deplorable to hear Mrs. Pailin stand before millions and vehemently undermine Barak’s service to his country and the not so priveleged over the past twenty years. Good thing we are all not fools and we will demonstrate that on Nov. 4th.

what seems to trouble me is this governor degrading the work of a community organizer…..
I think that was really stupid of Palin!!!

GoUSA247: Palin has “executive experience running a government?” Let’s start with her first stint as a mayor. During Palin’s 6 years as mayor of a city (with at the time a population of around 5,000) she increased government expenditures in Wasillia over 33% and increased taxes by 38%. Palin inherited a city with ZERO debt and left it with over $22 MILLION in debt. For what? Campaign promised infrastructure improvement? No. A new sewage treatment plant? No. She spent $15M on a multi-use sports complex that’s still in litigation 7 years later. More money was spent on extensively remodeling City Hall and Palin’s office redecorated more than once. Sorry, I’ve had enough Republican promises of “tax cuts” for the wealthy while creating the largest debt in our country’s history.

What a bunch of hypocrites. You hated Reagan as Pres but now greatly admire his wife because she supposedly said she admires Obama. It’s okay to laude the words of a woman in her 90′s as absolute wisdom but a man who is 72 is, according to you Obama nuts, a senile old man.
Personally, I think anyone who claims Obama is ready to lead has a not so rare form of dementia – Obamalzheimers
ps- Shalom: Please don’t tell my your name indicates you are Jewish and \or Israeli. Does anyone believe that Obama, who is friends with Auchi and Edward Said and was a 20 year member of the Anti Semitic Trinity Church that gave a lifetime award to Farakhan think Obama will help protect Israel? Puh-leeze.

okay, Nancy Reagan is actually 86 but you get the point…

Posted by: BabsNJ | September 4, 2008, 12:54 pm 12:54 pm

People talk about Palin having all of this experience, however, the timeframe of her experience is so short that you can’t really judge the quality or consequences of her actions. She is more of the same – venom-spewing, divisive crap so well-defined by the Bush White House. Americans have made it clear that they expect something different from their candidates.

Posted by: DaveM | September 4, 2008, 1:03 pm 1:03 pm

Nancy Reagan has shown so much class the past few years. I’ll be the first to admit I wasn’t fond of her when she was first lady but I have come to respect her with how well she took care of her husband to how she presents herself now. If only more people in this country could have views like hers, where she supports McCain but does see the good in Obama and doesn’t see him as the anti-Christ, we could start getting past all this sad partisan bickering. And, it’s true on both sides. It makes me sad that there’s so much hate in America against the opposing side that you see just reading the message boards. If we could all just remember that both McCain and Obama want to do what they feel is best for the country and vote on whose issues you agree with and stop all this extreme attacking, we could start getting past the partisanship and start building one America. Kum ba ya and all that.

LetusLeaf–While Palin was mayor of Wasilla, it became the fastest growing town in Alaska. She brought in new construction for new business and commerce. When the town started growing she had to have a police station built and had to hire policemen for the town. Where would she get the funds for this without having a deficit? She has an 80% approval rating in Alaska as governor.
Obama has absolutely NO experience running anything but his mouth. Voting present is not leading. Being a community organizer, whatever the heck that is, doesn’t count. Oh wait he knows that line isn’t working so now he’s trying to say that he has experience running his campaign. Well okay let’s compare that. Obama says he manages 2500 people with 21 million a month budget. Sarah Palin runs a state with 77,000 people she manages and 1.25 billion budget.

Posted by: S Adams | September 4, 2008, 1:44 pm 1:44 pm

There’s something about that woman, Palin, that I just cannot — yet — put my finger on and I just pray it comes out before it’s too late. Because not only do I believe she’s not good for the country, I beileve she’s not good.

Posted by: RuthieM | September 4, 2008, 1:52 pm 1:52 pm

The Obama camp didn’t see this coming. I think they are scrambling for a new strategy. Palin is not going to go quietly, and she has a real record. I don’t see how Obama can even be considered when he voted “present” over 100 times as a Senator. Is he going to run and hide when the going gets tough as president?

Posted by: MarkS | September 4, 2008, 1:52 pm 1:52 pm

My husband thinks she is a looker and a pretty smart woman but he’ll still vote for Obama. McCain/Palin don’t have the depth as Obama/Biden.

Mariann,
it’s obvious that you don’t know much about politics. if you did you would vote for the issues and not for the person. and you wouldn’t jump parties as easily as you have. one thing i can say about republicans is that even if they are not fond of their canidate they stick together and vote republican anyway. you are so bitter about Hiliary losing, but if Obama is good enough for Hiliary’s vote why isn’t he good enough for yours? you keep speaking on Obama’s use of drugs and booz while he was in college. how do you know? were you right there doing it with him? probably not because from your post it’s evident that you couldn’t have possibly qualified to be accepted into the same institution obama attended. I am a woman who served 8 years in the military. i did not reenlist once my daughter was born because i feel that children need their mother. they need their fathers too. however mothers are maternal and have maternal insticts that is why we can give birth and breast feed and men can’t. i don’t believe “right now” is a good time for Palin to accept a position of VP. right now her children need her more than the country need her. She has a child going to War, a teen daughter having a child and a newborn with down syndrome. VPs travel and spend a lot of time working. three of her children are at critical points in their lives and their mother should be THERE to help get them through.

In my opinion, Paulin’s speech reminded me of someone who likes to…Talk LOUD, however their rhetoric equates to “0” – NOTHING! This election boils down to the following:
1.What set of candidates/party has identified the issues that have dramatically impacted the middles class of this country? We must identify the problems before we can solve them.
2.What set of candidates/party have come up with an acceptable plan that at least attempts to move the country in the direction of solving our problems?
3.What party attempts to unite us as a country? We certainly have enough terrorist and enemies that are out to destroy the U.S.?(IF WE DON’T DESTROY OURSELVES FIRST.)
THIS ELECTION IS NOT ABOUT GAY RIGHTS OR ABORTION, BLACK OR WHITE, MALE OR FEMALE. FOR MANY OF US, THIS ELECTION IS ABOUT SURVIVAL.

First of all … I haven’t seen Nancy Reagan posting … only her son saying how she feels? Anyone can say you said something, but that doesn’t make it true. Second of all, women already have a choice as to wheher or not they will have a baby without having to take the life of the baby once it is conceived. Unless rape or illness is involved … shame on you. You know and I know how to avoid it. And so do our kids, so don’t give me that either. Also, do you want to change the very foundation of this country … our Bill of rights our Constitution? You better think long and hard. Once it’s done we can never go back. Are you sure we’re really better off in this country now without prayer … without respect … with crime like it is … with gangs … our kids out of control? Think about the values of this great nation. Where are we headed as a country?

Posted by: suze | September 4, 2008, 3:29 pm 3:29 pm

Suze, who are you for? because some of what you said make me think you are for mccain/palin and then some of what you’ve said was things they were against. so i’m trying to figure out where you stand.

S Adams says as Mayor for the small town of Wasilla, Palin “brought in new construction for new business and commerce. Where would she get the funds for this without having a deficit?” Sorry buddy. She learned how to become the Pork Queen and still managed to sink the town in debt 22 million in debt. According to a review of congressional spending by non-partisan Taxpayers for Common Sense, Wasilla received a $1 million earmark, tucked into a transportation appropriations bill. Isn’t this the same style “Pork” spending Senator McCain opposes?

Posted by: LetUsLeaf | September 4, 2008, 5:15 pm 5:15 pm

I don’t know if all of you know this or not but Palin was a POW. Oh wait, that isn’t right, but oh well it doesn’t matter, let’s run with that.

Posted by: Foodforthought | September 4, 2008, 6:15 pm 6:15 pm

WHY ARE ALL THESE PEOPLE ON HERE TALKING ABOUT PALIN? THE ARTICLE WASN’T ABOUT HER. YOU OBAMA SUPPORTERS ARE OBSESSED WITH HER. I SMELL FEAR….YOU WOULDN’T BE TALKING SO MUCH ABOUT HER IF YOU DIDN’T KNOW THAT SHE’S PUT OBAMA IN HIS PLACE. hahahahahaaa!!!

Posted by: Foodforthought | September 4, 2008, 6:19 pm 6:19 pm

People on both sides are reading way too much into a simple compliment. Nancy Reagan may be impressed with Obama, but she’s already stated her support for John McCain. As far as I’m concerned, this is NOT major news.
As for Sarah Palin….that speech sounded like it was written by a disgruntled 16 year old angry at her parents. She spoke absolutely ZERO about ANY issues, certainly not giving any plans. All she did was make sarcastic half-jokes designed to make her fellow conservatives giggle and sneer. She did NOTHING to appeal to moderates or independent voters, and to top it all off, you could tell this was her first time in front of such a big crowd. I can’t WAIT until Biden tears her apart in their debate. This election is already over. . .

Posted by: H | September 4, 2008, 6:20 pm 6:20 pm

I admire Obama for the Democrat convention. Very enlightening and uplifting. McCain’s Republican convention. Filled with hatred and nastiness. They are made up of religious, conservative, right wingers. Something is wrong with this picture. No love for anyone but self.
Sarah Palin has been a little league player and now they’re saying she is qualified to be the manager of a major league team. I don’t think so. Very scary!!!! Nancy Reagan, my hat’s off to you if you see the greatness of Obama.

Posted by: Helen | September 4, 2008, 9:54 pm 9:54 pm

When even Nancy Reagan and Ronald Reagan Jr don’t support you as a republican what is that saying?

Posted by: Real republican | September 5, 2008, 8:44 pm 8:44 pm

It is interesting isn’t it? ALL of the politicians claim that they are middle class. hmmm….. maybe middle class wanna be’s for now… but would they give up a couple hundred thousand a year? How about 10 or 20 million? Anyway, after the cancer special (3 networks) tonight it becomes clear that maybe Ron Reagan (jr) should be on a ticket. Maybe Obama’s???? That would be awesome. Come on Ronnie… how about it?

Posted by: Oregon, of course | September 5, 2008, 11:40 pm 11:40 pm

Nancy has endorsed McCain. We get it. Why keep repeating it? Ron Jr. didn’t say she wasn’t endorsing McCain and is endorsing Obama. Ron Jr said, “She thinks this is a good guy, a guy who means well and is a strong character.”
Why don’t Republicans give Nancy some credit for not being a partisan sheep?

Posted by: Beth | September 20, 2008, 10:27 pm 10:27 pm

Ron Jr was Ron Sr.s’ least favorite and was embarrassed by the sight and sound of his namesake…

Anyone who votes for Obama is not a Christian, because he represents the Devil,
an example voting no on banning partial birth abortion,
Remember this is a live baby,
The baby’s leg is pulled out into the birth canal
The abortionist delivers the bby’s entire body, except for the head.
The abortionist jams scissors into the baby’s skull. The scissors are then opened to enlarge the hole.
The scissors are removed and a suction catheter is inserted. The child’s brains are sucked out, causing the skull to collapse. The dead baby is then removed.
God help him, and God help you if you vote for him.
Christians dont’t kill,
It is a commandment,
so do you believe, it is in the Bible , or do you believe in the Bible/God??
Don’t answer me, answer to your conscience.

My thanks to the Regan family…Although they may be supporting the Republican ticket…They to are impressed by Obama…Regardless of Nancy’s age she is able to recognize true character…Nancy just might be one of the Republicans who is actually going to vote for Obama.
