Obama Blasts McCain on Immigration Reform

ABC News’ Sunlen Miller reports: Speaking before the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Gala, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., blasted Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., for not including comprehensive immigration reform in his party’s platform.

“And when it came time to write his party’s platform, comprehensive reform never made it in,” Obama said before the institution’s annual gala in Washington, D.C. “So, you’ve got to ask yourself: if Sen. McCain won’t stand up to opponents of reform at his own convention, how can you trust him to stand up for change in Washington?”

Obama said that he admired it when McCain had bucked his party on immigration reform in the past, but said that was a stance McCain walked away from when running for president.

“When he was running for his party’s nomination, he abandoned his stance, and said he wouldn’t even support his own legislation if it came up for a vote,” Obama said to the audience. “Well, I don’t know about you, but I think it’s time for a president who won’t walk away from comprehensive immigration reform when it becomes politically unpopular.”

Wooing the key demographic, Obama told the crowd that he’s not taking one single Hispanic vote for granted this election, referencing John Kerry’s close loss in New Mexico in 2004.

“I need you. I need you to win,” Obama said in closing.

Obama will take his campaign west next week — campaigning in Colorado on Monday.

Only elect hard-line anti-illegal immigrant politicians. Illegal Immigration is lowering wages and stealing jobs from legal Americans. This major issue is costing taxpayers too much. Higher property taxes, free health care, education and a multitude of government welfare programs Just take a look at ‘Sanctuary City’ California’s financial demise. $ 11. billion dollars is attributed to the illegal immigrant welfare, who have drained the states funds.
If we enact the Federal SAVE ACT (H.R.4088) enforcement only law. Millions of illegal aliens will leave by self-deportation. ATTRITION! No job, they will leave of their own accord. Only anti-American groups and Liberal-Democrat-Socialists are stopping this law. ASK THEM WHY?

When Obama takes McCain’s words out of context, he’s out to destroy McCain and Palin. When someone does the same to him, he says they are dividing America. Obama hasn’t done a thing to change America and he keeps yelling change.

Thank you ABC for posting something regarding an ACTUAL issue. While the Republicans are engaged in their smear and destroy, non-issue, non-American campaign tactics – friends are having to lay off workers due to the economy. Our concern is their ability to find new employment, pay for Cobra healthcare, gas and care for their families while we watch the McCain campaign loose all sense of reality over an old southern saying about lipstick. Perhaps ABC if you will focus on the issues and not nonsense.

Citizenship for Immigrants – McCain supported a bill with his own name on it allowing illegal immigrants a path to citizenship. Now McCain opposes his own bill.
Immigration Act – McCain cosponsored a Development Relief and Education Aliens Minor Act for immigrants. Now he opposes it

This is a bad issue for Obama to bring up in this campaign. He is in deep despair if he’s trying to use this issue to gain votes. McCain actually learned something when he tried to pass his comprehensive immigration reform bill. He learned that we don’t trust Washington. Secure the borders first and then worry about reform. Obama is an open borders guy who could care less about our national security. Now I ask you who would you rather have in the Oval Office?

I wish that people would just think back 2 years. We did have alot of these problem, high gas and food price, etc.
When the Dems. took over two years ago, they have done everything they could to make Bush and the Repub. look bad. They will not let bills be heard if they are from Repub. It has been very well planned. They honestly believe that the American people are stupid. Are We?

Tom, that’s why its referred to as a “comprehensive” plan. That would include securing the borders.

Don’t you just love that whole “preacher-man” way of talking Obama has adopted? He thinks it makes him look more average Joe if he drops the Ns’ from words- huntin’… walkin’. Why is he trying to sound like an old preacher man from the south because 1)he grew up abroad and in Hawaii so he sounds like a joke 2)I don’t see how the old time southern preacher voice is attractive to factory-workin’ white women.

Posted by: Who? | September 10, 2008, 10:14 pm 10:14 pm

old time southern preacher voice?
LOL geez folks, can we just stay on the issues?!
I heard Sean Hannity make a comment yesterday how Senator Obama was intent on tearing down Sarah Palin, which of course is not true. When it came to her family, Senator Obama was the one to say her kids and family were off limits.
The hypocrisy of Hannity is over the top. He has been attacking Senator Obama for the last 20 months, which could be defined as character assasination, as he tears Obama down every day. Sounds like Hannity is stepping back in his own shyt.

Lately Obama seems to be drifting from one issue to another – often revising his remarks in an attempt to gain political traction. This tactic shows that his campaign has no central conviction, but appears to be making up policies based upon polling results. Truth is that Obama is still largely unknown, untested, and very inexperienced – not the qualifications required for the US presidency. Behind the rhetoric, there is no substance!

Posted by: Phil | September 10, 2008, 10:22 pm 10:22 pm

He’s right. McCain is pro-amnesty – and has been a major backer for a very long time, a major sponsor – but he made no attempt to mention or put that anywhere in the Republican platform. Why not? Would he prefer to keep this part of his political agenda quiet? I don’t like either candidate on this issue – I’m extremely anti-amnesty of any kind, under any name, and they’re both pro – but hiding your positions, letting it slide by and hoping the voters don’t notice is not honest.

Posted by: Susan | September 10, 2008, 10:24 pm 10:24 pm

What makes John McCain a ‘maverick’?
Is it the way he buckled to the RIGHT on immigration, now saying he wouldn’t even vote for his own bill?
Is it for saying the Bush tax cuts for the rich that were ‘unconscienceable’ when they were passed are now a good idea.
Is it for hiring the people he once called the ‘agents of intolerance’ to spread slander about Barack Obama?
Is it for protecting the big pharma companies, saying that America should remain the ONLY industrialized country in the world that does not use its own buying power to get the wholesale price?
Is it for saying ‘screw you’ to Lilly Ledbetter and all working women, saying that women like Lilly Ledbetter who can prove they were intentionally paid less money because they are female: They should ‘work harder’.
Is it for protecting the indecent system in this country where you can die of cancer without treatment if you don’t have insurance?
Or is it for protecting the indecent system where the middle class can face bankruptcy simply because they got sick?
Could it be because the man is completely deaf, dumb and blind to the fact that the middle class wages have gone NOWHERE, while the cost of feeding your family, driving to work, providing a home has gone higher and higher?

I used to like mccain because he promised to run an honorable campaign. No longer. He has resorted to the lowest of the low mudslinging, distortions, and lies.
I thought we had a chance of actually having an election based on the real issues. Nope.
Since it really appears to me that McCain is the far worse of the two in the mudslinging — I’m going to vote Obama.

A maverick is a person who is unpredictable. McCain is certainly unpredictable — he’s flip flopped on just about every issue imaginable. I don’t think this is what I want in a president.

A maverick is a person who calls chelsea clinton (who was just a teenager) ugly in public then pretends to get upset at the use of the phrase “lipstick on a pig” which he himself used to refer to Hillary’s policies only a few months ago.
Maybe maverick means hypocrite.

If Obama were to win a sizeable chunk of Hispanic voters, he might change his tune on the immigration thingy. He’s such a wimp, and he would be afraid to irritate them. There is nothing he says that isn’t up for revision once he knows who he owes something to. He’s always trying to play catch-up, juggling his lil groups of identities. This is Obama. You can put lipstick on him, but he’s still Obama.

Posted by: Kitty | September 10, 2008, 10:50 pm 10:50 pm

The thing about republicans is that you can put lipstick on them — but they are still afraid of smart black men.
Stop living in the 1930s. The republican party is completely corrupt and has been slowly dumping our country into the crapper (did anyone see Lehman bros today… lost 4 billion $ … there is some great republican management of the markets! ). McCain’s policies are exactly the same as bush’s policies. He’s proud of it too, and he has bragged about it. Of course all of a sudden he like the word “change”, but if he is elected, basically things will stay the same.. and down down down we go until we are a third world country.
Vote Obama — the man will stop the republican railroad.

Brittanicus you form part of the racist, nativist organization FAIR. Their own founders have been caught “expressing” their xenophobic views in public to people like you. The republican lies we have all suffered, that have led us into disaster.
McCain is following suit. Just making up stupid crap and throwing at Obama. If he really felt secure with his positions on the issues he would argue about issues — not make up crap like sex ed for kindergarten.
Not to mention the lies like “I opposed the bridge” when in fact they supported it.

John McCain told some really nasty off color jokes about me when I was 17 years old and just an awkward teenager. Is this the kind of president we want, one who will take dishonorable pot shots at school-girls?
Now McCain is slinging mud at Obama. If he were an honorable man he would talk about the real issues, but he doesn’t. Because his policies stink and everyone knows it. His one hope to win the election is just to throw more mud.
… and I, chelsea clinton, know more than anyone, how much mud McCain can sling.

Finally, somebody who worked on earmark issue with both McCain and Obama set record right:
Mrs. Palin also killed the infamous Bridge to Nowhere in her own state. Yes, she once supported the project: But after witnessing the problems created by earmarks for her state and for the nation’s budget, she did what others like me have done: She changed her position and saved taxpayers millions. Even the Alaska Democratic Party credits her with killing the bridge.
When the Senate had its chance to stop the Bridge to Nowhere and transfer the money to Katrina rebuilding, Messrs. Obama and Biden voted for the $223 million earmark, siding with the old boys’ club in the Senate. And to date, they still have not publicly renounced their support for the infamous earmark.

Mrs. Palin cut Alaska’s federal earmark requests in half last year, one of the strongest moves against earmarks by any governor. It took real leadership to buck Alaska’s decades-long earmark addiction.
Mr. Obama delivered over $100 million in earmarks to Illinois last year and has requested nearly a billion dollars in pet projects since 2005. His running mate, Joe Biden, is still indulging in earmarks, securing over $90 million worth this year.

It’s amazing – the Bush regime is spying on you, harassing you at airports, rendering your neighbors to Syria for torture, starting wars based on lies, not to mention rising unemployment and mortgage foreclosures…and yet there are still people thinking about voting for McSame. How could they not get this simple message: Repubs Don’t Care About You! This goes double for the pro-McSame posters on this blog, including the trolls.
It’s even on record: they call their own fundamentalist base morons for donating money. Yet they’re out there again waving their flags, hating gays and immigrants. Are they so terrified that whites won’t be a majority soon? Ask yourself, What are they willing to do to prevent that from happening?

Posted by: Arturo Sclerosis | September 10, 2008, 11:16 pm 11:16 pm

Amy seems to claim that Palin is somehow anti-earmark these days.
In fact, Alaska is #1 in the country for earmark spending!
ST. PAUL, Minn., Sept. 1 — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin employed a lobbying firm to secure almost $27 million in federal earmarks for a town of 6,700 residents while she was its mayor, according to an analysis by an independent government watchdog group.
Amy’s claim is simply a lie. So is Palin’s claim — she opposed the bridge only after it was clear that it was going nowhere. (so to speak).

Posted by: amyisaliar | September 10, 2008, 11:17 pm 11:17 pm

From AP Wire. RE: Palin
As Alaska governor, she sought and obtained hundreds of millions of dollars in earmarks for the state, and as mayor of Wasilla, she hired lobbyist and former Stevens staffer Steve Silver to steer federal money to her town.
Some of her earmark projects when she served as mayor from 1996 to 2002 even landed on McCain’s list of questionable congressional pork barrel spending.

Posted by: amyisaliar | September 10, 2008, 11:20 pm 11:20 pm

From Newsday:
Under Palin’s leadership, Alaska this year asked for almost $300 per person in requests for pet projects. That’s more than any other state received, per person, from Congress for the current budget year. Other states got just $34 worth of local projects per person this year, on average, according to Citizens Against Government Waste, a Washington-based watchdog group.

McCain keeps saying “We are winning in Iraq”. Against who? The enemy is al-quaida. Al-quaida was never there before we invaded. Sure, they’ve been kicked out of iraq again, but that doesn’t mean we are beating them. It just means they have moved somewhere else — pakistan for now. And our army is completely tied up in Iraq that we can’t go after bin-Laden.
No, the best we can do in Iraq is to get out as quickly as we can. “Winning” is when we destroy al-quaida. We are no closer to doing that than we were 8 years ago. Our little detour in Iraq was an oil-driven distraction.

Charlie Gibson will do a nice little bio-piece and show some pretty little scenes in Alaska and then get a somewhat “serious” look on his face and lob a few questions at her that he thinks are passable enough not to be criticized as a lame journalist and that will be it. He will not be tough and scrutinize her record, her views, he will provide her with the opportunity to finesse concerns voters have and most of all, he will NOT challenge her on the issues that have caused this country to be in the worst shape on so many level in decades. A tax increase on businesses means an indirect tax increase on all of us on everything we buy (food, shelter, groceries, gasoline…), and it is a guarantee for immediate job losses as businesses will have to be forced to close down or retain fewer workers.
The various income taxes American individuals (federal + state + payroll up to over 57%) and businesses (federal + state up to 45%) pay are already the highest in the world and Dems want to increase them so that the competitiveness of US corporations globally will be further reduced and our individual financial freedom further restricted. I see US citizens with skills and money consistently renounce their US citizenships and non-US people with skills or money turn down green cards and US jobs for tax reasons. Dems’ wealth redistribution socialist policies are guaranteed formulas to attract un-skilled poor immigrants and drive out the highly-skilled rich who would contribute to creating jobs and propel our economy forward.

McCains Identity Theft/Fraud Policy:
“Do a proper accounting of all social security numbers used and attained illegally, rectifying the accounts and alerting those whose identity had been compromised. ”
While it’s certainly EXTREMEMLY important to notify the millions of innocent victims of identity theft, this policy does not go nearly far enough.
These illegal aliens using fraudulent ID have clearly demonstrated, through their dishonest actions, that they have no claim whatsoever to the welcome mat extended to legal and honest immigrants.

If elected John McCain will kick Sarah into the corner and send her off to attend funerals.Thats fine, but if he should happen to die in office then we have to deal with her. This does not bode well. Putin would make hash of her in a heartbeat.
As for the illegal immigrants it will be up to the states and the people to do the job, neither candidate will do a thing.
Keep in mind McCain is running for pres not Palin. Watch his body language,Why does he always stand with fists balled or playing with his ring finger? Interesting…..body language can tell a lot about a person.
I was told by a really high up executive in the auto industry about 15 yrs ago that the plan was to bring down the american wages so that globel trade would equalize. I see he was right. I see the plan being played out.All they have to do is stonewall the American peoples resistance to it. They are doing a good job.

Everybody knows what Romney said about McCain during the debate on immigration in the primaries. McCain has run away from the legislation he has sponsored himself as senator by voting against it when he became candidate. That is the real McFlip-McFlop who will do anything and say anything to get elected, the unMaverik McSame. Obama is helping us to remember that McSame cannot make things-up, he has lost his moral authority in the immigration debate.

obama on Illegal immigration: In a March 2004 questionnaire, Obama was asked if the government should “crack down on businesses that hire illegal immigrants.” He replied “Oppose.” In a Jan. 31, 2008, televised debate, he said that “we do have to crack down on those employers that are taking advantage of the situation.”
What will he stand for tomorrow?

Mark Halperin, on Anderson Cooper 360, September 9, from Talking Points Memo:

“AC: Mark, has there ever been a vice presidential candidate who has yet to talk to the press at this point in the race?
MH: No. And it’s another thing I get that I’m embarrassed about our profession for. She should be held more accountable for that. The “bridge to nowhere” thing is outrageous. And if you press them on that, they falter because they know they can’t defend what they’re saying. They’re saying it on the stump, as a core part of their message. It’s in their advertising. I’m not saying the press should be out to get John McCain and Sarah Palin. But if a core part of their message is something that every journalist…journalism organization in the country has looked at and says it’s demonstrably false, again, we’re not doing our jobs if we just treat this as one of many things that’s happening.”

“Only elect hard-line anti-illegal immigrant politicians. Illegal Immigration is lowering wages and stealing jobs from legal Americans.”
So if the American folks elect soft-line anti-illegal immigrant politicians as they have done so far in the primaries and if McCain wins with a large Democratic congress following a soft line on immigration would you say that Americans want shamnesty? I would.

Posted by: George | September 11, 2008, 8:26 am 8:26 am

Norman:
The message is clear. Both McCain and Obama are for shamnesty as FAIR and other groups have reiterated. The voters cannot claim they did not know. American people claiming that they are against increased or same levels of immigration after they vote for McCain or Obama and a Dem Congress is similar to a capital murderer on Texas Death Row claiming that he was not aware of the Texas Death Penalty. As a public servant if you vote this group in, I have to push for shamnesty and increased immigration lies and spins from anti-immigrant groups such as FAIR and CIS not withstanding. Their claiming that the American people did not mean to support shamnesty after electing McCain and a strengthened Dem Congress is similar to liberal activists trying to absolve a murderer on death row of his crimes and trying to get him pardoned.

I keep hearing republicans complaining about a do nothing congress. Legislature is being passed by the House, it only requires a simple majority to pass a bill there. In the Senate it takes a super majority of 60 votes to cut off debate on any bill, before that bill can be voted upon. The republican Senate has had a record number of filibusters requiring that super majority to cut off debate. So don’t blame the Democrats it is the republican obstructionist.

I am a Hillary supporter and will vote for McCain On the immigration issue you ought to look at Obama record He started out working with Kennedy and McCain on the immigration reform bill.
Senator Obama declined to cast some of those tough votes. He voted for and even sponsored amendments that were intended to kill the legislation. Obama supported amendments to limit guest worker provisions in the bill.
Senator Obama went out at the request of labor unions and voted for amendments that would have killed the legislation and that’s a fact.

The change that McCain wants is to bash the intellectuals and any one that has European ideas[ap].Maybe you look different “foreign” I believe is the code word, your not a hockey mom ,soccer mom, NASCAR dad, you live in a city and your educated, you don’t judge folks on how they live thier lives as some would because you have no right, you have a world view and think it takes a village to help raise your family,-ie schools, extended family, neighbors, friends, then your some how bad or on the fringe maybe even evil, dose that not give you that warm fuzzy feeling? Well be afraid very afraid. The right wing “Conservative” brings something else to mind,Germany a wounded war veteran who wrote a book and was a God fearing right winger who found his country receptive because of their plight after a bitter war and bad economic times. The intellectuals, the educated, foreigners, ones that were liberal, and folks that didn’t “share their values” NOT LIKE US. The Jews fit the bill, different religion, businessmen, intellectuals, liberal, not like us- them. This right wing conservative group with it’s leader invoked Gods name and went on a crusade to right many perceived wrongs and to settle old scores. The church blessed them and their weapons and they went out in Gods name to make the world in their image and well you know the rest.Fiction? Not hardly religion has no place in politics.there is a reason for separation of church and state It seems that to be a Christian now we have to wrap our selves in the flag and if you don’t you’re bad,or unpatriotic, un American. But if You are a true Christian the Christ said not to judge as there is only ONE the Father, and that His Kingdom was no part of this world he was not involved in politics. You don’t have to be a Christian to be a patriot or pick up a gun or join the military to be a patriot just like wrapping your self in the flag and the bible makes a bad person good or a patriot because it doesn’t. That man in Germany was wrapped in his flag and the bible and was blessed by the church was he a good man? I guess not but his followers thought so they were convinced by the dogma of the crusade and that evil was across the street, next door, the next country, folks not like them, and if those evil doers were dehumanized they were-are easy to kill. I guess the Christian right forgot the 10 commandments, pick it up its a good read

DO NOT VOTE FOR OBAMA!!!!
OBAMA is still the “MOST EVIL” regarding this issue—–and should NOT be elected!!
McCain learned his lesson!!
At “Least” McCain has said that he will close/secure the borders……Obama said that he finds the fence “offensive”.
At “LEAST” the MAJORITY of Republicans are on OUR SIDE regarding this issue——and they will stop any/all attempts that McCain may make toward amnesty——as they know what the MAJORITY of citizens want done regarding illegals—–and they will NOT let McCain destroy THEIR political careers.
The MAJORITY of the Dems in Congress will be siding with Obama if he tries to push amnesty.
At “LEAST” McCain has NOT said that YOUR kids should learn Spanish, and that ICE is acting like Nazis because they are doing raids on employers who are hiring illegals.
PLUS……..McCain has NOT promised illegals amnesty, welfare, WIC, foodstamps, jobs, drivers’ licenses, health care benefits, education benefits, etc.
Obama’s health care plan includes ILLEGALS!!! He will lie and say that it does not include illegals, that is because he plans on making them all legal first.
DO NOT VOTE FOR OBAMA!!!!!

More to the point, how hypocritical can Democrats be? Obama was in Michigan this week talking about aiding workers there. How does a massive amnesty for illegal aliens–most of whom will be directly competing with these workers for jobs–square with the Party’s claim about helping working people? Apparently, it’s not AMERICAN working people they’re interested in, but anyone who will boost union memberships, fill pews, and vote Democratic, legal or not.

To a person, all of those whose posts apear above, fail to adderss, recognizen or admit that the Rule of Law is the issue.
I will wager that every poster is of the “X” generatio; your parents and grandparents know better. Legal immigration is, and always has, been good for this country. To reward criminal, yes criminal, conduct invites more of the same lawlessness. Refer to the 1986 amnesty, it covered 3 million; now, by some estimtes, the number of criminal aliens in the country is 30 million.
You want amnesty, then you deserve the country you wish for; move to any third world cess-pool. This is not your Nation to give away.

Yes, he learned the lesson to shut up about it until after election day and then he will immediately go back to the plan to screw the American people on immigration policy.

Borat or McVain will open the borders and allow millions to enter. Both support amnesty which will legalize 20~30 million. Then the family re-unifaction begins. The Census Dept. reports our population will grow by 144 million over the next 38 years. This is equivalent to the entire population of Canada AND Mexico combined. With amnesty the numbers are boggling. Here in the West we are already under water rationing. We will need 36,000 new schools and 55 million new housing units, without the amnesty. Our farmland is getting paved over, what will we eat, asphalt? We will need thousands of new roads, bridges, dams, etc. We can’t even fix what we have. Does anyone know where the money to pay for all this developement will come from? Certainly not from the tax rolls of low income peasants. Do you want your kids to grow up in such a crowded place? Do you want your kid’s lifestyle to be less than yours? Vote McCain/Obama and find out.

Would ABC and other news network let Senators Obama, McCain and other Americans know that if either of their immigration proposals became law, it could add over 120 million more people to the U.S. over the next 20 years, U.S.-born and foreign-born relatives of amnestied immigrants. They will be potential voters, will use energy, need jobs, health care, education and many other social services.
The following should not be left out in the immigration debate:
On 7/7/06, Mexican American professor Armando Navarro, who has organized many pro-illegal migrants rallies, was quoted in the Los Angeles Times as saying, “A new majority is forming. Everything will change. The White House will be within our reach. We might have to change the name to the Brown House.”
According to the 2000 Census, the U.S. population had increased by about 13 percent since 1990, but those who identified themselves as Mexican had grown by 53 percent. Although many Mexican Americans are patriotic and most Mexican migrants did not come with a political agenda, during the 2006 massive pro-amnesty demonstrations, many protesters waved Mexican flags and pressured the U.S. with demands identical to Mexico’s.
Mexico has actively encouraged illegal migration to the U.S. and has vigorously fought all measures to secure our borders. It has worked closely with Mexican American activists here to push for benefits for illegal migrants, including amnesty.
What is Mexico’s real intent?

Why should anyone believe a politician on illegals? Especially when it took a near uprising of the grassroots coming to Washington DC to kick the bastards out when they wanted to grant Amnesty to illegals. Right now illegals are leaving our country. Over a million have left so far due to ICE raids and the supposed badd economy. If we start enforcing the laws, maybe the rest will leave. Especially if we start demanding that businesses confirm that who they hire is who is working. That is easy to do if the Social Security Administration will just report when a Social Security number has been used repeatedly or a bogus one has been used. Don’t you have a Certified Birth Certificate? I can say that Obama probably doesn’t have one because he has yet to prove he is an American Citizen whereas McCain has had to do it to the Congress. But that is off the subject.
Have fun and if you believe what politicians say, Have I got a bridge to sell you.

Anyway, doesn’t Obama care what his support of massive illegal immmigration followed by subsequent chain migration of millions if amnesty if given, will do to black folks. I’m only sorry so many black folks, who want someone who looks like them, I understand, can’t see this guy for the phony he is.

I see Barrack Obama wants to lose the election!
Americans 80 to 90% HATE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.
You are going to lose Sen. Obama!
You are totally out of touch with Americans.
Dumbbell!

Obama wants open borders and he wants to give amnesty to 20 million illegals and give then health care. I think that something needs to be worked out but Obama wants to sell out the American People. Does he ever look at the polls concerning what most Americans think of
illegal immigration. We would not have this problem if our politicians had done their job and enforced the law.

I agree that McCain supported the Skamnesty bill but when he saw the reaction of the American People he decided that he needed to do what most of the people wanted. Obama could give a flip what we want. He figures that pandering to minorities and special interest groups will get him elected. He really doesn’t love this country in my opinion.

Obama is His Own Worst Enemy
Jack Kelly
Pittsburgh Post Gazette
August 24, 2008
……..Not that the truth has been much of a barrier to a Democratic line of attack…………..
Obama surrogates have been referring to Senator McCain as “Exxon John”, because both he and the giant oil company favor offshore drilling.
But, Exxon employees have given more money to Mr. Obama ($42,100) than to Mr. McCain ($35,166).
And, Mr. Obama voted for the 2005 energy bill that gave massive tax breaks to oil companies, while Mr. McCain voted against it—because he opposed those tax breaks.

Obamanomics…………………….
The Thursday Wrap
Valley News Dispatch
September 11, 2008
“If the economy continues to be weak, and should he be elected president, Obama says that he will consider supporting continuation of the Bush tax cuts. But, he does not favor their extension past their 2010 expiration.
Huh????
If lower tax rates are a stimulus now, why not then???
As Club for Growth Chief Pat Toomey puts it…………..It is tantamount to saying…………..I know tax increases are bad for the economy, but I am going to raise them anyways.
It is Dimmycratism at its most startling!!
Hmmmmm……This is similar to Obama/Pelosi saying to “check your tire pressure” as an answer to the energy crisis we are now facing!!

Obama … only talks about immigration when he is addressing a group of illegls hoping for their illegal vote.
Ignorant!! there is no such thing as an “illegal” vote, FYI, you have to be an American citizen in order to vote…therefore, Obama is not addressing illegals hoping to get their vote. Find out the facts first before you post such stupidity for others to hurt their eyes with!!
And for all other ignorants that talk about how “illegal aliens” should leave YOUR country, stop being so close minded and pathetic and realize that this is not even YOUR country either…do the words Native American ring a bell???

i love how brittanicus or whatever is talking about what the illegal mexicans are doing to “our families” without even realizing that the majority came here to help their families, but their families dont matter do they? i am an american, i have no mexican heritage. I have a son with an illegal mexican who has had some problems here, but has comepletely done a 180 and is a different person. We want him to become legal so our family is not torn apart…do you realize how hard that is? He is getting paid minimum wage and it is thousands of dollars to become legal. And the mexicans arent taking your jobs away by working minimum wage…the companies are the ones hiring them and paying them minimum wage…the mexicans are just taking the jobs they can get…that the Americans wont do. Have you tried working in a factory for less than 7 dollars an hour? I have…and the mexicans work their azzes off. My man sends money to his mom (which is the reason he first came here). He is from a poor place in mexico and didnt have the money to come here legally so he risked his life to come here to help his family out. Now he has me and my son and we are trying our hardest to keep my family from being torn apart. You know how bad it sucks not knowing if your boyfriend and babys father is going to come home from work of if there is going to be a raid at work? Its too hard to be legal, especially if you do have problems from the past. I really hope that Obama helps them-us-out. I know there are millions of families in the same place as me. Vote for Obama!
