Obama Suggests McCain Was Confused Over Spain Comment
ABC News’ Sunlen Miller reports: At a pair of fundraisers in the Miami area, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., mocked Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., about his comments earlier in the week, over Spain, to a local area radio station.
“Some of you heard John McCain was interviewed. He was asked about the leader of Spain. I think he thought he was talking about somebody in Latin America. He said he wouldn’t meet with them, Spain. I don’t know if he knows this is a NATO ally,” Obama joked to the roaring crowd at a fundraiser at the Biltmore Hotel.
Obama was referencing McCain’s comments to a Florida radio station this week that sparked some controversy when it seemed like the Arizona senator might have believed Spain was in Latin America.
When asked by a reporter from Union Radio, if elected, would he receive Spanish PM Zapatero in the White House, McCain answered, "Honestly, I have to analyze our relationships, situations and priorities, but I can assure you that I will establish closer relationships with our friends, and I will stand up to those who want to harm the United States."
At a later fundraiser at a private home hosting a crowd of about 100, Obama repeated his criticisms, “John McCain saying just yesterday that he would not meet with the prime minister of Spain!”
Someone in the audience shouted back, “He didn’t know who he was?”
Obama continued, “I thought it was because he was confused or because he bought into this notion that we don’t meet with people that we don’t agree with.”
RNC communications director Danny Diaz took issue with Obama’s remarks. "This comes from the guy that has never traveled to Latin America and is arguably the most inexperienced presidential candidate in modern times, if not history," Diaz said. "He can distort John McCain’s comments in front of a bunch of fundraisers, but it won’t deliver Florida and it won’t deliver the Hispanic vote."
Obama this week has shied away from bringing up the McCain’s comments on Spain -– as the week has been dominated by the somber economic news -– but, no doubt debuted them strategically before a key audience.
Obama told the audience he’s confident that he is going to win the election and that his road to victory will be easier with the Sunshine State.
“There are easier ways to win it and harder ways to win it. It would be really nice for us to win Florida. I’ll tell you, we can win this thing without Florida, but boy, it’s a lot easier if we win Florida. If we win Florida, it is almost impossible for John McCain to win.”

Anyone who bothers to go back and read Obama’s speech before the Democratic National Conference 4 years ago will see what a good president he will be if elected.
Rather that seeking to divide this country, the way the Karl Rove GOP machine has sought to do, between white and black, liberal and conservative, urban and rural, Obama told us we are ONE NATION.
We are all Americans. There is common ground if we ask:
How can we reduce the number of abortions?
How can we change the country to use renewable, American sources of energy?
Should we follow the teachings of Jesus and heal the sick?
What do we have to do, adding resources and getting rid of ineffective teachers and schools, to bring up the level of our children’s education?
This man who is the product of two ethnic groups, white and black. This man who worked with 6 Catholic parishes to help those laid off when the steel mills closed. This man who became a law professor at a highly rated school. This man represented more people in Illinois than Sarah Palin does as governor of Alaska.
This good man is an example what a great nation this is. If elected, he will act with the welfare of all Americans in his heart.
God bless America!

Obama will use any opportunity to bring up the age card against McCain…the same way he has used the gender card against Hillary and Palin. Luckily, when you do anything to get elected, it becomes very transparent and it forces people to realize he really isn’t putting his country first, he is putting himself first. So sad.

Rick – I just have to look and listen to McCain to know
A. How old he is.
B. Confused often enough to cause concern.
In addition, I can SEE Palin is a woman, but it does not change the fact she is ill-equipped and unqualified for the White House. Majorie Snow, Kay Baily Hutchinson + 20 other Republican women all would have been better choices.

Once again, the vindictive and vitriolic tone of the Obama campaign portrays anything but change.
And, as long as we are pointing to gaffes, what about Obama?
The guy’s a perpetual gaffe machine.
Without a teleprompter, his tongue has betrayed him throughout the primaries and the campaign.
Just a few examples of many:
Last year, Obama claimed that tornadoes in Kansas killed 10,000 people: “In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died — an entire town destroyed.” The actual death toll was 12.
In May, 2008 in Oregon, Obama comments redrew the map of the United States. “Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States,” said Obama. “I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go.”
Also in 2008, in front of a roaring Sioux Falls, S.D., audience, Obama exulted: “Thank you, Sioux City. … I said it wrong. I’ve been in Iowa for too long. I’m sorry.”
In March, 2007, on the anniversary of the Bloody Sunday march in Selma, Ala., Obama claimed his parents united as a direct result of the civil rights movement: “There was something stirring across the country because of what happened in Selma, Ala., because some folks are willing to march across a bridge. So they got together and Barack Obama Jr. was born.” Obama was born in 1961. The Selma march took place in 1965.
And in perhaps the most seriously troubling gaffe of them all, Obama told a Portland, Oregon, crowd earlier this year that Iran doesn’t “pose a serious threat to us.” It seems Obama felt that “tiny countries” (such as Iran) with small defense budgets can’t do us harm.
And, Obama is ridiculing John McCain over comments about Spain?
Perhaps Obama should learn how many states are in the United States, about the threat posed by Iran, and where Sioux Falls, South Dakota is before he comments on what John McCain says to anyone.
And…
As Always…
Anybody But Obama…

the “age” card is a real card. A 72-year-old US man has a 14-16% chance of dying in the next four years according to actuarial tables. This does not take into account if the man has had multiple previous cancers. It is also notable that at that age, the risk of mental impairment (stroke, dementia, etc) also increse notably.
so, if you’re a big fan of governor palin – rejoice! she has a 20-25% chance of being president before the next election if mccain wins.
and, for someone so bellicose, I wish he knew who was in NATO and who isn’t. honestly, i think the stress is wearing on him and this week he’s had a ton of misspeaks.

Jayhawk,
You needed to go all the way to Memorial Day to make a point about Obama. One only needs to go to 10am to make the point about mcCain. And yestarday, and Wednesday and Tuesday and Monday………..
Get the point??
One gaffe over a period of months is swept under the rug.
A gaffe a day is cause for concern.

Jayhawk, doesn’t McCain’s lack of knowledge about basic facts trouble you. Partisn loyalty is one thing, but to so blindly support this man whose mental faculties are clearly deteriorating is quite another. He doesn’t know the difference between Shia and sunni and THIS IS REALLY A BIG DEAL, doesn’t know that Iraq and Pakistan do not share a border and wants to stay in Iraq for 100 years. He also thinks Czekhoslavakia is still a country and Putin is the president of Germany. He thinks Spain in in Latin America and his VP pick wants to have a war with Russia over Georgia. Clearly, this man is sliding towrads senility and he has now become Karl Rove’s disciple which is about as sleazy as one can get in life.
Posted by: feminist50 | September 19, 2008, 11:56 pm 11:56 pm
Hey, isosure,
Don’t be so sure.
The point was that those comments were among those made before the teleprompter scripted every word that your messiah says.
Get it?
And, get ready to read about some of the more recent gaffes that brought on the teleprompter.

chris: the republicans are trying to deregulate health care. they blindly support the insurance lobby medicare advantage programs which cost more to administer than medicare, do not provide better healthcare for the elderly, and pay doctors less. the latter will eventually lead to the ultimate deregulation, when doctors stop accepting medicare or reduce the number of new medicare patients they accept. it almost happened this year. it will happen in 2010 if a 20% scheduled cut to doctors goes through as the republicans plan.

McCain on banking and health
OK, a correspondent directs me to John McCain’s article, Better Health Care at Lower Cost for Every American, in the Sept./Oct. issue of Contingencies, the magazine of the American Academy of Actuaries. You might want to be seated before reading this.
Here’s what McCain has to say about the wonders of market-based health reform:
Opening up the health insurance market to more vigorous nationwide competition, as we have done over the last decade in banking, would provide more choices of innovative products less burdened by the worst excesses of state-based regulation.
So McCain, who now poses as the scourge of Wall Street, was praising financial deregulation like 10 seconds ago — and promising that if we marketize health care, it will perform as well as the financial industry!
Posted by: bhrandon | September 20, 2008, 12:33 am 12:33 am
bhrandon: for those of us paying attention, and hopefully for those who are starting to, it is clear that the type of deregulation of healthcare they have been pushing is a frightening bad idea.

Why yes, I have checked the electoral maps, and they show that you are losing. Funny thing. Now I guess if you do funny math, and eliminate the swing states all together, you could come up (on some maps) with a number that puts McCain ahead. BUT since in the real world, the swing states get a vote, and since Obama is winning in most of them, all the maps currently show him ahead. And they will follow the national polls (they lag behind a day or so). I note you all did not quote them when you were doing your victory dance that McCain was ahead in the daily tracking polls, because they showed him even further behind than he is now. Selective use of facts and statistics, a Republican specialty!
Posted by: Dee Dee Lynn | September 20, 2008, 1:51 am 1:51 am
So was McCain misspeaking when he said he doesn’t know how many houses he has, or is that the truth ir was he merely lying? I have never been clear on that. And the “Spain” and “Yugoslavia” gaffes can not be classified as “misspeaking.” One was a direct question that was put to him and he was at pains to answer (kind of like Palin on the Bush doctrine), and the other is something he has said repeatedly (just like the Iran is funding Al Qaeda gaffe). When one misspeaks, it is in the moment. Its not something that is repeated four or five times.

Here ya go. Enjoy.
“Last week, in front of a roaring Sioux Falls, S.D., audience, Obama exulted: “Thank you, Sioux City. … I said it wrong. I’ve been in Iowa for too long. I’m sorry.”
Explaining last week why he was trailing Hillary Clinton in Kentucky, Obama again botched basic geography: “Sen. Clinton, I think, is much better known, coming from a nearby state of Arkansas. So it’s not surprising that she would have an advantage in some of those states in the middle.” On what map is Arkansas closer to Kentucky than Illinois?
Obama has as much trouble with numbers as he has with maps. Last March, on the anniversary of the Bloody Sunday march in Selma, Ala., he claimed his parents united as a direct result of the civil rights movement: “There was something stirring across the country because of what happened in Selma, Ala., because some folks are willing to march across a bridge. So they got together and Barack Obama Jr. was born.”
Obama was born in 1961. The Selma march took place in 1965. His spokesman, Bill Burton, later explained that Obama was “speaking metaphorically about the civil-rights movement as a whole.”
Earlier this month in Cape Girardeau, Mo., Obama showed off his knowledge of the war in Afghanistan by homing in on a lack of translators: “We only have a certain number of them, and if they are all in Iraq, then it’s harder for us to use them in Afghanistan.” The real reason it’s “harder for us to use them” in Afghanistan: Iraqis speak Arabic or Kurdish. The Afghanis speak Pashto, Farsi, or other non-Arabic languages.
Over the weekend in Oregon, Obama pleaded ignorance of the decades-old, multibillion-dollar massive Hanford nuclear-waste cleanup: “Here’s something that you will rarely hear from a politician, and that is that I’m not familiar with the Hanford, uuuuhh, site, so I don’t know exactly what’s going on there. (Applause.) Now, having said that, I promise you I’ll learn about it by the time I leave here on the ride back to the airport.”
I assume on that ride, a staffer reminded him that he’s voted on at least one defense-authorization bill that addressed the “costs, schedules, and technical issues” dealing with the nation’s most contaminated nuclear-waste site.
Last March, the Chicago Tribune reported this little-noticed nugget about a fake autobiographical detail in Obama’s Dreams from My Father: “Then, there’s the copy of Life magazine that Obama presents as his racial awakening at age 9. In it, he wrote, was an article and two accompanying photographs of an African-American man physically and mentally scarred by his efforts to lighten his skin. In fact, the Life article and the photographs don’t exist, say the magazine’s own historians.”
And in perhaps the most seriously troubling set of gaffes of them all, Obama told a Portland crowd over the weekend that Iran doesn’t “pose a serious threat to us” — cluelessly arguing that “tiny countries” with small defense budgets can’t do us harm — and then promptly flip-flopped the next day, claiming, “I’ve made it clear for years that the threat from Iran is grave.”

“Janet Morton lives about a half hour away from the White House….The unemployed single mother of two girls shares a small house with her sister in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Wasington, D.C. Morton does not know much about Hugo Chavez. But for her, the Venezuelan president is a hero…Morton is one of the 1.2 million poor Americans who get discounted heating fuel for their homes from CITGO, an Oklahoma-based oil company owned by the Venezuelan government” (p. xi)

McCain never said Spain was in Latin America. Obama said that McCain thought that. Wasn’t that nice of him to say that and the rest of you dumb people just pick it up as if it was true. The reason McCain doesn’t like Spain is because the new leader there doesn’t much like the US. They made a big deal of taking their troops out of Iraq after they had that terrorist attack. Gee it must be nice to be Spain and just withdraw from world affairs just cause you get blown up. Why don’t they try being the US just once and have to deal with a 9/11 attack.

Barack Obama, who lamented Friday that “we have not managed our federal budget with any kind of discipline,” is nonetheless promising to spend $50 billion on a United Nations anti-poverty program that critics say will drive up American debt.
“The short-term weakness in the capital market is a reflection of long-term problems that we have in our economy,” Obama told reporters in Florida. “We have been loading up enormous amounts of debt.”
Yet Obama and his running mate, Joe Biden, have pledged tens of billions in new spending on a U.N. program that promises cash to poor countries. The program is one of eight sweeping “Millennium Development Goals” the U.N. adopted in 2000.

Did you guys listen to the Situation Room Friday? At a rally, Palin consistently referred to her ticket as the Palin-McCain ticket. McCain stood right behind her beeming and smiling not award of the significance of her words. Others more awake, had shocked looks on their faces.

Let’s face it folks. McCain has always been a bit stupid. McCain has always had a bad temper and a foul mouth.
Ever since I heard that he called his wife Cindy the “C” word in public whenever I hear or see the name I think “McC**t.” Just can’t help it!
Speaking of which, have you noticed the way the wrinkly old dude looks at Palin whenever they’re together on stage?
Way creepy, reminds me of Grandpa on the Simpsons. If I were Cindy I’d cut off his allowance, at least.

one candidate makes a gaffe every three months
another candidate makes a gaffe almost every day…
one candidate has been somewhere near the center of every slip up…losing us…
let’s see
McCain Keating deregulation the s and L crisis
a trillion dollars
McCain Bush the Iraq war…
a trillion dollars
Mccain Gramm (Davis and Black as well) deregulation
a trillion dollars
at what point do people say the guy who is hanging out every time and fighting for the same policies as…the people and beliefs that cost us all this
should not have the keys to the economic engine?

that is the argument that got us George Bush, D!ck Cheney, Karl Rove, Gonzales, Rumsfeld, Brownie…
and the rest…
it is about temperament and making decisions like an adult…
unfortunately mccain clearly has shown…he doesn’t know how to do that.

I am convinced that the Republican ticket does not have the capacity to deal with the leadership of the United States and the complexities it entails. Even if Mr. McCaine was a younger man it seems that he has never shown the descipline and dedication to really accoplish anything on his own abilities except riding the coattails of others.
As for Palin she just is not ready for the international stage and the world cannot afford to wait four years for her to become knowledgeable about the magnitude of things that faces a President.
This Election should be a landslide if it werent for the closet racists. The Republican presidents always srew up the country and if you look closely they are more communistic than the democrats by placing most of the wealth in the hands of the few power elites and industrial complex.
They have done a very good PR job of making the american people think diffrent.

Obama takes his advice from William Ayers, who bombed the Capitol, Pentag , several court houses and city halls in the 1960s and 70s. Obama served on boards with Ayers and Ayers hosted a fundraiser in his home (Obama attended). Ayers wears a ring recycled from a USA fighter jet shot down over N. Vietnam. He was presented that by the North Vietnam govt, in Canada.

He IS clearly losing his mental faculties slowly but surely. Why would any sane person take such a bellicose attitude towards Spain. The simple answer is he could not recall if Spain was a NATO ally in Europe or it was a country in Latin America run by a dictator. If McInsane is so clueless about this it is cause for great concern about how he will govern, He and Sara palin seem to be awfylly fond of starting wars and issuing bellicose statements. I’m a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight…..
* If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you’re
‘exotic, different.’
* Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, a quintessential American
story.
* If your name is Barack you’re a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.
*
Name your kids Willow , Trig and Track, you’re a maverick.
*Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.
* Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you’re well
grounded.
* If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the
first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter
registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years
as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator
representing a district with more than 750,000 people, become
chairman of the state Senate’s Health and Human Services committee,
spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing=2 0a state of
13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the
Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and
Veteran’s Affairs committees, you don’t have any real leadership
experience.
* If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city
council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with fewer than 7,000
people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000
people, then you’re qualified to become the country’s second highest
ranking executive.
* If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while
raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you’re
not a real Christian.
* If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left
your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you’re a
Christian.
* If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including
the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of
society.
*
If, while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no
other option in sex education in your state’s school system while
your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant, you’re very responsible.
* If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in
a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city
community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family’s values
don’t represent America’s.
*If your husband is nicknamed ‘First Dude,’ with at least one DUI
conviction and no college education, who didn’t register to vote
until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the
secession of Alaska from the USA , your family is extremely
admirable.

When are you McCain supporters going to face up to the fact he is a dimwit if not for his low school ranking, political gaffes but for picking Palin:
Sept. 17, 2008 | WASILLA, Alaska — Sarah Palin has been touting herself as fiscal watchdog throughout her political career. But Palin’s tenure as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, was characterized by waste, cronyism and incompetence, according to government officials in the Matanuska Valley, where she began her fairy-tale political rise.
“Executive abilities? She doesn’t have any,” said former Wasilla City Council member Nick Carney, who selected and groomed Palin for her first political race in 1992 and served with her after her election to the City Council.
Four years later, the ambitious Palin won the Wasilla mayor’s office — after scorching the “tax and spend mentality” of her incumbent opponent. But Carney, Palin’s estranged former mentor, and others in city hall were astounded when they found out about a lavish expenditure of Palin’s own after her 1996 election. According to Carney, the newly elected mayor spent more than $50,000 in city funds to redecorate her office, without the council’s authorization.
“I thought it was an outrageous expense, especially for someone who had run as a budget cutter,” said Carney. “It was also illegal, because Sarah had not received the council’s approval.”
According to Carney, Palin’s office makeover included flocked, red wallpaper. “It looked like a bordello.”
Although Carney says he no longer has documentation of the expenditures, in his recollection Palin paid for the office face-lift with money from a city highway fund that was used to plow snow, grade roads and fill potholes — essential municipal services, particularly in weather-battered Alaska.
Carney confronted Mayor Palin at a City Council hearing, and was shocked by her response.
“I braced her about it,” he said. “I told her it was against the law to make such a large expenditure without the council taking a vote. She said, ‘I’m the mayor, I can do whatever I want until the courts tell me I can’t.’”
“I’ll never forget it — it’s one of the few times in my life I’ve been speechless,” Carney added. “It would have been easier for her to finesse it. She had the votes on the council by then, she controlled it. But she just pushed forward. That’s Sarah. She just has no respect for rules and regulations.”
Carney, who comes from a long-established homesteading family in the area and once ran the city’s garbage collection business, has decided to speak out for the first time since Palin’s vice-presidential nomination. He is viewed as a longtime Palin gadfly, ever since he sided with her opponent in the 1996 mayor’s race. After Palin won, she froze out Carney, refusing to call on him at City Council meetings and deep-sixing his proposals. “That’s the way Sarah is,” Carney said. “She rewards friends and cuts everyone else off at the knees.”
Other local officials — who lack Carney’s acrimonious history with Palin — share his dim view of her mayoral reign. When Palin ran for mayor, she dismissed concerns about her lack of managerial expertise by saying the job was “not rocket science.” But after a tumultuous start, marked by controversial firings and lawsuits against the city, Palin felt compelled to hire a city manager named John Cramer to steady the ship.
“Sarah was unprepared to be mayor — it was John Cramer who actually ran the city,” said Michelle Church, a member of the Mat-Su Borough Assembly, who knows Palin socially. “As vice-president she’ll certainly have to rely on faceless advisors with no public accountability. Haven’t we had enough of that in the past eight years?”
Other officials in the borough government — the equivalent of county government in other states — point out that Palin actually had very little executive responsibility, since the borough oversees many of Wasilla’s vital functions.
“After all her boasting about her executive experience, what did she do?” asks a longtime borough official, who, like many in local circles, requested anonymity because of Palin’s reputation for vengeance. “The borough takes care of most of the planning, the fire, the ambulance, collecting the property taxes. And on top of that she brought in a city manager to actually run the city day to day. So what executive experience did she have as mayor?”
Palin does have two major accomplishments to her name as mayor: the by now highly publicized sports complex on the outskirts of Wasilla, which she pushed through city government, and the less well-known emergency dispatch center, which she also brought to her hometown.
The sports complex, however, is seen by many local officials as a budget-busting white elephant.
“I feel sorry for our current mayor, because of the mess that Sarah left behind,” said Anne Kilkenny, a respected government watchdog in Wasilla. “And the sports arena is still a money loser for the city.”
“Sarah was very focused on the sports complex,” said Wasilla council member Dianne Woodruff, who began serving after Palin’s tenure. “But somebody forgot to buy the land before they started building on it. Somebody dropped the ball. It was the fault of the people running the city at the time. As a result, we’ve spent well over a million dollars more than we should have. And we’re still paying for it.”
Today, the sports complex sits like a huge airplane hangar outside the Wasilla city limits, in a clearing in the woods. Since Palin’s administration decided to build the complex far from Wasilla’s population center, kids can’t walk there or ride their bicycles. On a recent, drizzly afternoon, the cavernous building sat nearly empty. Inside, two girls glided aimlessly around on the ice rink.
But the quiet arena still held Palin’s charged presence. A wall plaque commemorated Mayor Sarah Palin and her City Council for constructing the edifice. And on the walls, big, bold quotations urged young athletes to attempt impossible, Sarah Barracuda-like feats: “‘You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take.’ — Wayne Gretzky.”
Local officials are also highly critical of Palin’s decision to build an emergency dispatch center — even though Wasilla and nearby Palmer already shared the costs of an emergency operation for the Mat-Su Valley. As a result of the duplication, there are now two expensive operations for an area with 85,000 people, while the city of Anchorage, with a population of over 300,000, makes do with one emergency station.
“Don’t tell me about earmarks,” snorts a borough official. “Because of Palin’s ego, she couldn’t stand the idea of sharing an emergency dispatch operation with Palmer, which has been Wasilla’s town rival ever since her high school basketball days. So she ran to [Senator] Ted Stevens to get an earmark for her own system. Now we have two expensive emergency systems and both are losing money. She’s no budget cutter — give me a break. She’s just the opposite.” …’

I’m sure America will love having The First Dude strolling around Washington.
In Alaska, he’s known as ‘The Fixer’
well, hell, maybe he can fix it so his daughter doesn’t get knocked up at 17 years of age. Ohhh.. that’s right, they don’t believe in contraception.
Great. With teen pregnancies on the rise,
we get a bunch of religious wackos who

As the campaigns enter the final stages, stamina becomes as important an issue as ability. When someone gets tired and doesn’t have the stamina, it shows in gaffes, misteps and bad choices. It’s clear that McCain doesn’t have the stamina. He doesn’t know the difference between the SEC and FEC. He couldn’t remember that Spain is not in Latin America, and he chose a bimbo from Alaska who thinks she has foriegn policy credentials because she can “see Alaska from her home” to be his running mate. I spent 18 years in Alaska and unless you live on Little Diomeded Island, all you see is ocean from the west coast of Alaska.
And Palin needs to explain why her preacher ran a woman out of town because she was a “witch who was causing traffic accidents.”
We don’t need four more years of Bush/Cheney, and we ssure as heck don’t need McCain/Palin. The world deserves better.

I have been wondering about this very thing the last few weeks. And it needs to be pointed out if you care about this country not just this election. John McCain has made several bloopers lately – isn’t sure how many houses he has, mixing up FEC for SEC, gets confused on the Spain and Latin American, the fundementals are sound, oh I guess they arent. The issue – is John McCain showing signs of onset of demensia. Ronald Reagan was 69 when he took office a whole 4 years younger than John McCain will be when he takes office and we all now know he was showing signs of alzheimers that 2nd term. This is real, not a political spin. The reason we should all be worried is Palin. Should John McCain not be able to function as president she becomes commander in chief. A corrupt govenor that believes in cronyism and not to concerned about circumventing the laws. This is a real issue that needs to be addresses for the sake of America.

What the hell is Obama supposed to do — ignore the fact that his opponent is a 72-year-old who has about a 15% chance of dying in the next 4 years, and who placed within a heartbeat of the presidency this platitude-mouthing sock puppet who can’t even be trusted in press conference.
The incredible recklessness displayed by McCain in choosing Palin — for naked and cynical political reasons — is no small concern. And the longer this campaign goes on, the more instances we have of this kind of confusion by McCain — I mean, have you listened to that interview? He sounds so distracted and disoriented, it is downright frightening.

Do you think Sen Obama’s emphasis on Sen McCain’s age will negatively affect the older vote?
Older Americans vote rain or shine, are a large block of the voting population, and have the time.
After the election will there be any way to determine how older voters influenced the outcome?
Thank you

So, if Obama is tied in the state polls, then he has slim lead, If obama has slim lead, that means he has moderate lead….
So don’t get fooled by the state polls which usually don’t include cell phone users.

Obama is so lacking in experience and he criticizes Palin? The only thing Obama had ever run is his big mouth. He would be a disaster as president. The only good thing about him being president is that he would guarantee a Republical president afterwards for the next hundred years, although people tend to forget what losers Jimmy Carter and Clinton were…

Zen,
Do whatever calculations/regression analysis you want but polling will never factor the intangibles…..people who vote by virtue of sameness of culture, beliefs, and of course skin color.
They’re not ready yet for your candidate.

Not only do Obama, Biden and the rest of the Dems criticize Palin, and say she is inexperienced, they now have their corrupt hack, Charlie Rangel out there calling her “disabled.”
That ought to go over big with the many Americans who actually ARE disabled.

Interesting since Obama is claiming that the Iraqi government confused his statement just last week.
Obama says he is bring to Washington a “new type of politics”. Since last year, securities and investment firm employees have given Democrat Barack Obama $9.9 million. Obama selected Jim Johnson (CEO of the now failed Fannie Mae) to choose his Vice President. Obama was given great sums of money from Freddie Mae. Obama stated publically (using his teleprompter) that “America cannot afford another wait and see government”, now Obama is saying he needs to “wait and see” before he reveals his “new” plan.
Obama associates Jeremiah Wright (God damn America preacher of some 20 years), William Ayers (bomber and terrorist), and Tony Rezko (convicted of political fixing and going to prison) have all enriched his campaign and his life and these are all facts that we have all publically viewed.
Obama says he never heard or saw any racist or hate in the church all those 20 years. When asked by Bill O’Reilly about all the information posted in the entrance way of the church, Obama said, “what can I say”.
Obama says publically that he was only 8 years old when William Ayers bombed American buildings. Obama does not tell the public the truth which is that Ayers held the first fundraiser at his home to launch Obama’s state senate campaign in 1995, which both men sat on the Private Foundation together in Chicago the “Woods Fund” for years giving out grants even a grant to the radical Palestinian activist named Rashid Khalidi. Ayers began a company called “Chicago Annenberg Challenge” and selected for the Director of the Board, Barack Obama a man with the same beliefs and goals and Obama took the job and worked for years. Do you still think that Barack Obama told the truth to the America people?
Is the public going to be taken in by this “community organizer” that made absolutely no changes in his community in Chicago? Obama is telling his people to got out and talk to Independents and Republicans and “get in their face” which sounds like the mafia. This is not a man for all the people. Your choice is clear it’s America or Obama.

Obama said age should not play a part of the election, but through the summer Obama was playing his old tricks of negative campaigning through code words doing exactly what he said he would not do.
How many times did Obama use the word confused during the Larry King interview. Since then Obama’s been busy loosing the election and as panic set in Obama shifted from the word confused to liar. Very refreshing, it was not. Not presidential either.
Wall Street greed has put Obama back in business, and once again I recognize the negative and bullish campaign Obama won the primaries with. McCain will prevail, and Obama is out of here come November.

VIA,
Typical rabid Obamaphobe. Trump up some distant, youthful behavior THAT HE ADMITTED TO IN HIS BOOK (or are you relying on the word of the lie-detector-flunking, lunatic crackpot Larry Sinclair?) to counter a lapse by McCain LAST WEEK. Have you ever read McCain’s books? Have you seen the conduct he has admitted to at the same age?
Give me a break.
Say what you want about Obama’s experience, but I just can’t see him confusing the president of Spain with the leader of a South American country. What is McCain going to do if he’s elected, keep Lieberman and Graham close by to whisper correct information to him when he screws up?

Lee,
thanks to improvement of American mentality, the bradly effect is no more.
Below is the 2 example:
A few analysts, such as political commentator and The Weekly Standard editor Fred Barnes, attributed the four-point loss by Indian-American candidate Bobby Jindal in the 2003 Louisiana gubernatorial runoff election to the Bradley effect. In making his argument, Barnes mentioned polls that had shown Jindal with a lead.[21] Others, such as National Review contributor Rod Dreher, countered that later polls taken just before the election correctly showed that lead to have evaporated, and reported the candidates to be statistically tied.[22][23] In 2007, Jindal ran again, this time securing an easy victory, with his final vote total[24] remaining in line with or stronger than the predictions of the polls conducted shortly before the election.[25]
Another example, In 2006, there was speculation that the Bradley effect might appear in the Tennessee race for United States Senator between Harold Ford, Jr. and white candidate Bob Corker.[26][27][19][28][12] Ford lost by a slim margin, but an examination of exit polling data indicated that the percentage of white voters who voted for him remained close to the percentage that indicated they would do so in polls conducted prior to the election.

Like I said, polling data from a statewide election, such as the one you cite regarding Harold Ford, Jr., whose family has participated in Tennessee politics for generations, is probably not comparable to the Bradley effect in a national, presidential election, with a candidate no one knew virtually anything about four years ago, and still know very little about at the present time.

How much do you know about Sarah, who just popped up from nowhere 2 weeks ago?
Posted by: zen | September 20, 2008, 9:51 am 9:51 am
In three weeks time, thanks to a leftist, biased media looking for dirt on her, and criminals invading her personal email, we have learned more about Sarah Palin than we have learned about Barack Obama in the entire two years he has been running for president.
If the media had vetted Obama as throughly in the first three weeks after he announced for President as they have been doing for Sarah Palin, he probably would not even be the nominee right now.

Hey Lee….Thanks to the “leftist” media, we know that Palin is revengeful, lies, will do anything to move forward politically, keeps an illegal email network, is farther to the right than Cheney, and doesn’t have a clue about foreign relations or the financial problems facing our country…and she can’t say anything new herself beyond the GOP written speach she gave at the convention. I say thank God we have a “leftist” media to protect our country from quacks.
As for Obama, he went through 19 months of vetting, but then you, and a few others on this blog, probably had your mind closed to anything that didn’t follow the Bush/Cheney doctrine.
What sort of life would you have if you couldn’t blame someone else for your problems?

McCain’s “confusion” is well on its way to becoming the narrative in this campaign. Lets see how he does in 3 debates without a script. So far in this campaign they have managed to skirt the age issue; however, when he foolishly picked Sarah Pailin as the VP candided McCain himself put the age/cancer issue back on the table. It is fair game now because he made it fair game.

I think Obama saw the movie with Robert Redford in it “The Candidate”–he was even a ‘community organizer’-even won the White House and upon reaching his goal, exclaimed “what do we do now?”-Obama obviously had not been taught to put his hand over his heart during the playing or singing of the “Star Spangled Banner” nor the basics of our great nation ie the number of states, etc. He not only needs a tele-prompter, he needs a mike in his ear for all the basic ‘need to know’. There is quite a lot to consider in this year’s election. Many say Obama is a Muslim with no experience. Biden is a blowhard. Turn the page. McCain is resting on his war hero laurels. He was fifth from the bottom of his military class. His crowning achievements while in the military were crashing several airplanes, the last of which got him captured as a POW. I admire his resilience as a POW. That doesn’t make him a good leader. He divorced his first wife because she had a disfiguring accident and married the rich heiress he cheated with. Sarah Palin is quite obviously a power seeker. She fired people for personal vendettas. She has called her ticket the “Palin/McCain” ticket during speeches. SHE wants to be president.
Here is a copy of a post from “The Huffington Post” web site.
**** “While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75-year old Texas rancher whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Sarah Palin and her bid to be a heartbeat away from being President .
The old rancher said, “Well, ya know, Palin is a post turtle.”
Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a post turtle was.
The old rancher said, “When you”re driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that”"s a post turtle.”
The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor”"s face, so he continued to explain. “You know she didn”t get up there by herself, she doesn”t belong up there, she doesn”t know what to do while she is up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumb *** put her up there to begin with. ” ****

Considering that the press and everyone took it for granted that McCain was Mr. Foreign Policy, it is amusing to see the media scrambling from all the faux pas that McCain has made this summer in foreign policy.
But, he almost started an international incident with his confused and incoherent ramblings about Spain this week.
And I do think Obama should call him out on it.
People need to be aware of this and the many other gaffes McCain has made with foreign policy.
Not only is McCain in over his head with economics, shown his lack of judgment with picking the fluffy Palin, but, is not Mr. Foreign Policy like people assume.
And it also shows that McCain just may not be up to the job.
Compare how McCain sounded 8 years ago to now and you see a startling aging of the man.

Talk about bias I looked at the biography for BO back in February and it mentioned that he was inspired to write his book Audacity of Hope by his pastor Jeremiah Wright. Now, there is no mention of Wright or the scandal or anything about Trinity United Church of Christ. Under Palin’s biography there are quotes from people who have something bad to say and a large passages about every negative story on her. It is a joke. Back in February, I kept hearing that Obama was a Muslim, and I did not think it was true. When I looked at the website for his church I was shocked. The church is Christian but was shockingly political in its “non-negotiable commitment to Africa” and that the church is “African people and remain true to our native land.” Trinity has since cleaned up its website. This is really creepy. How do the slates get wiped clean on Barack and Sarah Palin gets every unconfirmed misdeed reported??? By the way, the supposedly fake email saying Obama is a Muslim, does include a true website of Trinity back in Feb 2008 anyway. And that hacking thing on Sarah Palin is really creepy too. I heard the 20 year old’s father is a democratic state senator. Where is the outrage????

John (Bush) McCain says he’d fire the head of the SEC…but says nothing about his top financial aide’s (Gramm) involvement in the deregulation which cause the financial fiasco.
Obama calls a meeting of the top people in the country, including Warren Buffett, Paul Volker, et al. and gathers information about how to solve the problem.
One is Presidential; the other is tryign to cover the fact that doesn’t have a clue about the economy (McCain said that on tape).
McCain = confusion+ignorance
Obama=intelligence+solutions
I’d put my money on Obama any day.

JayHawk:
Your list of Obama “gaffes” is amusing, but trite. McSame’s list of “gaffes” would fill this whole page.
The problem is separating “gaffes” which are often a problem of too many days on the road and too little sleep, with real, serious errors in judgment or synapses in the brain firing in the wrong direction or totally wacko politics. McSame’s “Spain” comments seemed to be on their face, a product of McSame’s profound confusion over a question that was clarified for him at least 3 or 4 times, and possibly confusing Spain’s leader with a Latin American with a similar name and a very different bio.
That he was confused, and that confusion reflects on his age and mental accuity was bad enough. But then his campaign stood by the remarks (sans the confusion part). Now, I know Tucker “Knows No” Bounds and his other top advisors aren’t senile, so one wonders what they are thinking!!!
McSame’s age and mental health are and SHOULD BE an issue. Particularly with Sarah Impalin a heartbeat away from the presidency.

algwriter,
That was a very good word problem, but giving your money to someone who will tax you for putting your hands in your pocket. He might as well put a hole in your pocket, because he wants to change you and take all your change.

Congress has authority over financial and budgetary matters, For the past 2 years Democrats
have been leading the Congress. Things have been sour and the financial woes are
getting worse, simply Democrat Nancy Pelosi and Democrat Harry Reid were sleeping at the switch
and taking vacations while the rest of the country is financially going down the drain.
Last spring Nancy Pelosi forced congress in vacation and let the national security bill
expire – risking our national security and last summer vacation Nancy Pelosi with out fail took a vacation while americans
were paying $4/gallon of gas. This is your Typical Liberal Democrat way of doing things
in Washington and this is the CHANGE that Obama wants, mind you these are Obama’s friends
who think alike and do things alike. The Do Nothing Congress(DNC)

Another glaring example that John McCain is senile and not fit to serve as President of the United States. Who wants the Alaskan barracuda? The one that can’t even handle an investigation in her own state is going to “reform” Washington? How?

i think the point here is if obama made these statement it would be on every network 24/7 but because it is mr mccain the media covers it up–oh john just did not understand? mccain is the one who said he is the master of foreign policy–it seems to me either he is losing his mind or he is stupid. but the republican’s only nominate stupid candidates. ford, reagan bush and more w. bush–can someone tell me with a straight face and say they are half as intelligent as obama?

I had fun with all you fake and wanna be americans. Especially all those who love men like me to serve at my post while your heads lay on your pillows. Also, those that write really good word problems without real solutions. May God Bless all the soldiers that are protecting your write to express yourself. Behave and let the contest run it’s course. I will always be faithful to my nation even if I have to continue pressing the truth of freedom. Look at the Mel Gibson movie Patriot. He choose to be against the war, but until one of his children were killed he chose to step in and fight for the real cause. Freedom!!!!!!!!!!

Obama is blaming and whinning about McCain and attacking his character and doesn’t deliver any plans on how to fix things, and given the oppportunity to just comment on the current financial situation Obama simply said”I want to wait it out” Obama is not a leader, he’s just a community oragnizer. Now he says he agrees with Bush on the Biggest company Bail-out of the history of the US, American people I submit that OBAMA=BUSH too most of the time with Big company bailouts.

william:
Where have you been for the past year??
The reason we are posting about this subject at all is because MCCAIN said it.
If Obama had said it, the media would have swept it under the rug like they do anything else slightly damaging to THEIR candidate.
The only reason the media even reports on any of Obama’s gaffes is because the public or his political opposition makes them aware of the gaffes first, THEN maybe they mention them……

McCain is a financial expert!! He knows all about how to solve a financial situation. Let me explain how he handled his personal finances. He cheated on and abandoned his first wife when she needed him most and married a rich woman, can’t get any better than that. Any rich widow women out there so I will be able to solve my financial crisis??

For all you who like the line about Obama using a teleprompter, can I remind you Obama just gave another news conference with reporters yesterday on the economic crisis and McCain’s advisers are so afraid to let their own candidate go off script McCain hasn’t given a news conference in something like 6 weeks. And they are even more protective of Palin.

OK!
Explain this? Now Palin’s claim about troopergate are coming undone. She’s now claiming that she fired him for this trip to Washington after her office approved the trip. Check out the respone below from a reader of the article which is posted right here on the abc news page:
Why in the world would she object to Monegan seeking funds in D.C. for an anti-rape program? That is beyond me. You would think that a state that leads the nation in reported rapes would make this a top priority. When you think of all the frivolous trips politicians make, this one is definitely worthwhile to anyone with common sense. Also, what kind of administration would give an automatic approval for a travel request before finding out what the purpose of the trip is? Isn’t that putting the cart before the horse? Refusing to cooperate with the Personnel Board investigation only makes it appear that Palin and her staff are trying to hide something.
She’s a complete fraud!

What a loser, maybe this is why Sarah keeps referring to the “Palin/McCain” administration.
Posted by: JR | September 20, 2008, 12:23 pm 12:23 pm
Now, here’s the offical story!
An internal government document obtained by ABC News appears to contradict Sarah Palin’s most recent explanation for why she fired her public safety chief, the move which prompted the now-contested state probe into “Troopergate.”
Fighting back against allegations she may have fired her then-Public Safety Commissioner, Walt Monegan, for refusing to go along with a personal vendetta, Palin on Monday argued in a legal filing that she fired Monegan because he had a “rogue mentality” and was bucking her administration’s directives.
“The last straw,” her lawyer argued, came when he planned a trip to Washington, D.C., to seek federal funds for an aggressive anti-sexual-violence program. The project, expected to cost from $10 million to $20 million a year for five years, would have been the first of its kind in Alaska, which leads the nation in reported forcible rape.
The McCain-Palin campaign echoed the charge in a press release it distributed Monday, concurrent with Palin’s legal filing. “Mr. Monegan persisted in planning to make the unauthorized lobbying trip to D.C.,” the release stated.
But the governor’s staff authorized the trip, according to an internal travel document from the Department of Public Safety, released Friday in response to an open records request.
Now, McCain/Palin supporters….comment on that!

Posted by: pancho on-line | September 20, 2008, 12:29 pm 12:29 pm
The police chief was not even fired to begin with.
For various reasons, Palin felt that his job skills would better serve the people of Alaska in some other position than that of police chief. He was offered an equivalent position with equivalent pay in another area of public safety, and HE refused to move to the other position.
He is out of work by his own choice.

When Bear Sterns went down last spring what did Congress do?, Pelosi asked everybody to go home and take a vacation and literaly made Congress go without DOING NOTHING about the collapse of Bear Sterns and about the National Security bill. Like I said before Obama’s liberal friends have the DO NOTHING attitude and WAIT AND SEE actions like OBAMA then that’s the CHANGE you calmore. Roxanne:
Why all the self-righteous anger regarding Sarah Palin and documents from her record as governor?
Anyone with such strong convictions regarding discrepancies and cover-ups involving candidates should also be asking for documents and information regarding Obama’s days as a community organizer and State Senator in Chicago, including his work on the Annenberg Challenge, and alleged ingnorance regarding the sub-standard conditions in housing developments owned by his buddy, Rezko.
Funny no one seems to be too worried about what might be in those records?
Perhaps you could do some more biased research and show me something on him?

Roxanne seems to have such self-righteous anger regarding Palin’s opposition to the former police chief making a trip to Washington on some anti-rape mission, yet she sounds like a defense attorney representing a rapist in that she is attempting to blame the victim, Governor Palin, who had her email hacked, rather than the criminal, the hacker.

2nfer this crisis started in 2002, under Bush and a republican controlled congress, there can be no question of this. Deregulation has been the Republikan mantra for decades and this is the end result. If you dont’ understand how these things work you need to shut up so you can listen and learn. This market was in trouble the moment Bush pushed for 100% financing and the banking industry lost all sense of responsibility beccause they weren’t going to be held accountable for the loans they wrote.

American people need to realize we are no longer a global force, dollar down, economic turmoil, mismanagement all over Washington, and Bush is recognized as a devil in most other parts of the world. Being objective the American people can not go into the voting booths with simple minds. We can not deny the Republican administration over the last eight years has failed the American people. Lets not deny that. Republicans are campaigning away from the issues about throwing sexism and gender claims to cloud from the real argument of who is better suited for the Presidency. If logic does not speak to the average American about who is the better Candidate to represent the United States here and abroad then your probably more in tune with the drama, race, sex, and rhetoric that distracts from the real issues. MCcain continues to find himself having to correct his positions and his Vice Presidential candidate is in denial with problems as Governor of Alaska. Please – American people lets get this one right. Vote with your conscience, and leave out race, age, and sex – see who has a more direct and organized initiative to bring the last eight years this country has suffered back to its feet as the most powerful free country of the world restoring its dignity and confidence in its government. Change is defintely a slogan Obama has used since he announced his candidacy. To many holes and uncertainty with the Republican ticket while just looking at the issues and records. Vote Obama!!!

After it is clear to all of us that mccain is losing his mental faculties, this tends to distract us from the fact that he has voted with Bush most of the time.
You can’t spin away from the fact that mccain is no maverick, he is is only another bush. republicans want us all to try and forget this fact, but it won’t go away. His voting record, when he votes, tells the whole story and that can’t be covered up.
Remember that bush brought us this big “steaming” pile which is all that is left of our country, and 4 more years of bush is all that is needed to make the damage irreversible. Insanity is voting for the same idiot over and over again and expecting a different outcome.

Hmn the economy, the war, geography, Johnny is getting “confused” on quite ALOT recently. Fortunately he’s got Lieberman there to tell him what to do! The only country McCain’s policies have put “first” is Israel. Israel first, Mexico second, (Immigration=NO secure borders!) and America somewhere after that. That’s John’s list. Is that what you believe too? Than vote for John and watch the country disinegrate! Although Obama is just as bad and is fast cozing up to the same interest. You don’t get elected after all, without serving the same masters. Party affiliation is just an illusion, the polices and agenda never changes.

This another thing I hear from people which is a ploy that has been used to keep these idiots in power. Tell everyone that the other side is just as bad.
I would stake my life on the proposition that 8 years of Al Gore would have this country in far better shape. I can also say to those wifes and husbands of soldiers lost in this “bogus” war that your loved ones would be here today. More importantly 1,000,000 innocent Iraqis would be living their lives today.
No the other side might be the same in your book, but Al Gore may have stopped 9/11, Lord knows that bush had the opportunity and didn’t seize it.
Just don’t try to tell me that the other side is just as bad, this pure speculation at best. Sadly we will never know how different it could have been.
We can give the other side their chance at the plate this time. I my opinion it can’t be any worse. Through out history big problems have been solved when intelligent people pour their energy and conviction into changing the course of events.
We have seen what happens when less than intelligent leaders rule by committee. mccain would offer more of the same ignorant leadership. Lets give the other side a chance to fail or succeed.
It just can’t be any worse.

The man who has tried to ridicule with repeated racist and sexist remarks just shows over and over that he is not a candidate of hope, change, or even integrity. He is so eager to get himself in the White House that he is willing to grab at anything.
One only has to look at the statements he gives at his private fundraisers to know who he really is. He continually puts people down, because he does not think people read a lot of news and can put the stories together for themselves. When a governor of a state can be mocked and denigrated, when people in one part of the country can be belittled as clinging to their guns and religion, and when he believes that ageism and sexism are fair game, the chickens come home to roost. What his surrogates say during the campaign, and how he behaves in private fundraisers are one and the same. He must think the American electorate is totally stupid.
We know who has the most experience, the most knowledge of the issues, the best record, and the wisdom to make good decisions for our country. Obama’s efforts to distort will not fly. One who loves to ridicule another when he thinks people are not paying attention will have another opportunity to “refine” what he meant later. That is the kind of change you can believe in.

As a republican I have to agree with Senetor Obama. McCain is acting at times like hes confused and not with it. This is serious couse of conern, his age. I just think that the reasons McCain is falling in the polls is becouse he just dont understandf economics and lets face it hes not very bright. I really belive that he wished he had picked Mitt, who economics are his strong suit. They are many moderate republicans who are supporting Obama I really think is becouse Moderate republicans or American in general dont fell comfortable with Palin. Her extreme views are too much in line with Bush and Chaney. Americans are rejecting this women. I also strongly belive that Obama will win. The only thing we will remember about all this is the lies and lies of Sarah Palin, the story of THE BRIDGE TO NOWHERE, THE FOUNDAMENTALS OF THIS ECONOMY ARE GOOD. Looking at the polls the Obama/Biden ticket is wining. We republicans need to re-group and work had next election 2012. Reading some bloggs lots of moderate republicans are not happy with palain. They also mentioned that having Palin stepping in as president if something is to happened to McCain will be a very scary scenario.

It all comes down to whether or not you think we should continue the bush policies. If you think the war should continue indefinitely, while we spend $10,000,000,000 a month, and you think that bush has done well with the economy then mc-more-war is your man. If you think that it’s time we start to get out of iraq and do some positive things for the average American instead of just the top 1% then vote for Obama.

Just because mc-more-war was a pow does not mean he should be president. The guy used to have a spine but now is nothing but a flip-flopper and a panderer. He’s also an OLD fart. The real straight-talker, John Murtha said that the Presidency is no place for an OLD man. There’s a reason they make pilots retire at age 60. mc-more-war needs to retire with his millionaire wife. (The one he had an affair with after his first wife waited for him to come back from the war.) Obama/Biden 2008!!!

I don’t know why anyone bothers to respond to the McCain trolls in these or any forums. The McCain campaign has them on the payroll. Hundreds of people whose job it is to surf around and post comments in these threads to insert falsehoods, lies and doubt in the public about Obama’s character. I challenge anyone to spend 30 minutes and surf around to as many different forums as they can. I leave it up to you to draw your own conclusions.

If Sarah Palin is such a committed pro lifer, why did she get an amniocentisis test to check for downs syndrome? I mean if you are unquestioningly committed to ProLife, you wasted $100 bucks on a test, right? Why test?
I’d also like to know if she plans on taxpayer support for those like her son who cant fend for themselves, or are they going to be handed over to such people as ‘Community Organizers’ (formerly known as Nuns) to take care of them.

I think that he either didn’t know the name of the leader of a country that has a population over 40 million people and is an economic partner, a European Union member and a Nato ally contributing to the war in Afghanistan, which shows ignorance or simply he confirmed he is willing to continue the arrogant and isolationist policy that he has supported during the Bush Administration. In any case it proves he has spent a lot of time in Washington, but it hasn’t given him the knowledge and judgment to be president of the United States.

McCain did not misspeak or mishear. The full transcript included the interviewer clarifying for McCain after McCain’s first Spain confusion. Yet McCain confirmed his flawed understanding of geopolitics by repeating (thus confirming) the same mistake. McCain is not a bad candidate, but I cannot recall that any nominated candidate has ever flip-flopped (lied) so feverishly as McCain has this past couple weeks with the Depression 2.0 starting.

It was plain that McCain thought Zapatero was some Latin American leader. He didn’t know who he was. Right-wing ideologues like Jayhawk know it, but are simply too embarrassed to admit it. Party over country.

MIke: You belittle the human race. Many families deal with children born with health or special needs problems, and they deal with it by giving a lot of love and care. Tests are done on many fetuses to check for all kinds of problems, and it is not done to determine the need for abortion. Since when should abortion be a form of birth control? Sarah Palin has every right to be pro life, just as you, or anyone else can make the decision to use abortion as a form of birth control. Could your mother or my mother have had the test done? Then what? Born with no brains?

Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda will be overjoyed if Barrack Hussein Obama wins. To Muslims, the Muslim faith is handed down by the father. Thats why they allow men to marry non-Muslims, butnot the women. So they still consider Obama as their Muslim brother.

I am a college educated Latino, and I have no why idea why any Latino would back the Republican party. They are anti immigration. They are anti affirmative action. They consistently cut funding for grants for students to attend college. Many of them want to make it illegal to speak Spanish in public. The RNC shows a paucity of Latino representation. The Democratic party is much more in touch with Latinos, and I believe that Obama/Biden will help our community much more than McCain. While it’s true that McCain did help author the McCain/Kennedy legislation on immigration, he is now denouncing it and is clearly embracing the conservative, anti Latino ideology. I don’t even think that Palin has even dealt with many Latinos on a daily basis so how could she help us? If you don’t believe that my argument holds substance, look at the Gallup polls, which shows that Obama is beating McCain badly in the Latino community.

Obama is not a Muslim. He has said it repeatedly. How can he attend a protestant church and be a practicing Muslim at the same time? How is that conceivable? It amazes me how stupid some people really are. Obama and Biden will win convincingly. McCain/Palin has no chance if the race continues to be issues based and Obama stays on the offensive. Just look at the polls…

McCain/Palin are up against more than a candidate. This is a movement to reclaim our country from the Republican party, who put their politics and money first. Let’s face it. Obama can make much more money with his educational background than what he would make as a US president. He is truly country first, while John McCain and Sarah Palin’s backround suggest that it’s about their personal pocketbooks and protecting the wealthy first.

The reason McCain doesn’t like Spain is because the new leader there doesn’t much like the US. They made a big deal of taking their troops out of Iraq after they had that terrorist attack. -AND IN THE WORLD THAT I LIVE IN, ZAPATERO ANNOUNCED WITHDRAWING HIS TROOPS A MERE TWO MONTHS BEFORE HIS INITIAL CONTRACT WITH THE COALITION WAS SUPPOSED TO END. THE FACT THAT SPAIN WAS ATTACKED WAS NOT THE REASON FOR THE WITHDRAWAL SINCE LAST TIME I CHECKED, ZAPATERO WAS NOT PSYCHIC AND HE HAD ANNOUNCED THIS B E F O R E . ” If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you’re “exotic,
different.” Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers, a quintessential American story.
If your name is Barack, you’re a radical, unpatriotic Muslim. If you name your kids Willow, Trig and Track, you’re a maverick.
Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable. Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you’re well-grounded.
If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the
first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration
drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional
Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with
over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate’s Health and
Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate
representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the
Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran’s Affairs
committees, you don’t have any real leadership experience.
If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city council
and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000 people, 20 months as
the governor of a state with only 650,000 people, then you’re qualified to
become the country’s second highest ranking executive (but not CEO of Hewett-Packard).
If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2
beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you’re not a real
Christian.
If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your
disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you’re a
Christian.
If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the
proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.
If, while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no
other option in sex education in your state’s school system while your unwed
teen daughter ends up pregnant, you’re very responsible.
If your wife is a Harvard graduate-lawyer who gave up a position in a
prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community,
then gave that up to raise a family, your family’s values don’t represent
America’s.
If your husband is nicknamed “First Dude”, with at least one DWI conviction
and no college education, who didn’t register to vote until age 25 and once
was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the
USA, your family is extremely admirable.
Now, can we get back to the issues? ”
What Obama should really do according to Mawreen Dowd: GET ANGRIER! Call them liars, because that’s what they are. Sarah Palin didn’t say “thanks but no thanks” to the Bridge to Nowhere. She just said “Thanks.” You were raised by a single mother on food stamps — where does a guy with eight houses who was legacied into Annapolis get off calling you an elitist? And by the way, if you do nothing else, take that word back. Elite is a good word, it means well above average. I’d ask them what their problem is with excellence. While you’re at it, I want the word “patriot” back. McCain can say that the transcendent issue of our time is the spread of Islamic fanaticism or he can choose a running mate who doesn’t know the Bush doctrine from the Monroe Doctrine, but he can’t do both at the same time and call it patriotic. They have to lie — the truth isn’t their friend right now. Get angry. Mock them mercilessly; they’ve earned it. McCain decried agents of intolerance, then chose a running mate who had to ask if she was allowed to ban books from a public library. It’s not bad enough she thinks the planet Earth was created in six days 6,000 years ago complete with a man, a woman and a talking snake, she wants schools to teach the rest of our kids to deny geology, anthropology, archaeology and common sense too? It’s not bad enough she’s forcing her own daughter into a loveless marriage to a teenage hood, she wants the rest of us to guide our daughters in that direction too? It’s not enough that a woman shouldn’t have the right to choose, it should be the law of the land that she has to carry and deliver her rapist’s baby too? I don’t know whether or not Governor Palin has the tenacity of a pit bull, but I know for sure she’s got the qualifications of one. And you’re worried about seeming angry? You could eat their lunch, make them cry and tell their mamas about it and God himself would call it restrained. There are times when you are simply required to be impolite. There are times when condescension is called for!

Some have said that Obama is a Muslim. One asked: What’s wrong to be a Muslim?
Muslim is the greatest BLACK religion of the world. So probably in some cases, if not many, to call Obama a Muslim means to call him black. The Muslim calling is in some, if not many cases, a hidden a expression of racism and also a big lie since Obama is a Christian.
Also it is well known that Muslims are ardent proclaimers and practitioners of their faith. Therefore if Obama were a true Muslim, he would be a very proud and open Muslim. Otherwise, he would be s pariah or an aberration in his own religion. Just calling Obama a Muslim is not only an insult to him but also to the entire 800 millions Muslims that are around the world and over the one billion blacks that live in this planet.

In 2004, 123 million Americans voted. 62 million voted for Bush and 59 million for Kerry. Right now the polls are close, but they haven’t factored the 30% of Democrats who will not vote for Obama because of race. These are the percentage of Hillary supporters. Do your math.

Personally, I’d be less frightened by McPalin if they could learn to pronounce:
Washington
Iraq
Iran
Nuclear
I suppose she asks for lite I-talian dressing on her salad, as well.
Perhaps I’m expecting much too much from one who only attended a military academy thanks to Daddy and couldn’t finish above some 300+ other cadets and one who attended six universities over a 5-year period and finally ended up with a liberal arts degree…oh and then there is their predecessor – Mr. Nuke U Lar, Ivy League, himself.
The ignorance of McPalin with respect to foreign policy, world geography and basic economic concepts is astounding. I believe McCain is absolutely suffering from early dementia….Palin is simply vapid. How anyone on this planet could consider putting a person in the White House with the creationist views of Palin is truly beyond comprehension. And by the way, if this ticket is elected, do any of you actually believe that they will be running the country? Come on – wise up. These two are shills and puppets who appeal to the ignorant millions in the US who are, in essence, enslaved by the mega-rich ruling class of a petroleum based world economy. This from Bill Clinton…”Mr. Clinton said. ” John McCain has the best record of any Republican running for president on the energy issue and on climate change.” He added, “I’m very encouraged about where the presidential rhetoric is in this campaign.”Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska is “an instinctively effective candidate” with a “compelling story” “I think it was exciting to some, that she was a woman.” “It was exciting that she was from Alaska. It was exciting that she’s sort of like the person she is. And she grew up in a, came up in a political culture and a religious culture that is probably well to the right of the American centre. But she didn’t basically define herself in those terms.
“She handled herself very well. I get why she’s done so well. She, she’s, it’s a mistake to underestimate her. She’s got good intuitive skills. Trust not those who readily point out the faults in others….For they only do so to hide their own.
For those who are confused between the true difference in the definitions of ignorance & intellect, I offer this insight.
Ignorance: Is by nature, a form of under educated stupidity.
Intellect: Is by intent, a form of over educated stupidity…
The demeaning of another, under the guise of good for all, is a prime example of both.
Why not just make the winner President, and the less than the winner Vice President. Only then could we hope to define both as one, and for the good of all…

Whether McCain was confused or not about Zapatero/Spanish relations, he still never answered the question. Will he or will he not meet with Zapatero? He gave a vague canned answer. The question specifically and repeatedly asked if he’d meet with the Spanish PM. I still don’t know if he would.

McCain is not only senile… he has never being too bright even when he was young. If you think Bush was the dumbest president ever… think again. McCain the not too bright with Palin the tweet.
