Obama Targets McCain and Palin on ‘Change’

ABC News’ Sunlen Miller reports: Senator Obama dusted off an argument from his primary days as he debuted an almost completely new stump speech against John McCain and Sarah Palin in Terra Haute, Indiana today.

"Everywhere I go we’ve been talking about change, that’s been the theme of the campaign. And we must be on to something, because I notice now everyone’s talking about change now," Obama said in reciting a line that he once used against Senator Clinton during the primaries.

This time the target was John McCain.

"John McCain has said that change is coming!" Obama laughed, "Now think about this coming from the party that’s been in charge for 8 years, they’ve been running the show! Been up in the White House, John McCain brags, ’90% of the time I have voted with George Bush. He and I we we’re right there’ and suddenly he’s the change agent!"

A feisty and perplexed Obama continued on his tirade.

"He says I’m going to tell those lobbyists that their days in Washington are over. Who’s he gonna tell? Is he gonna tell his campaign chairman who’s one of the biggest corporate lobbyists in Washington? Is he going to tell all the folks who are running his campaign who are the biggest corporate lobbyist in Washington? Who is it that he’s going to tell that change is coming?"

Obama then asked the voters in the town hall, "I mean come on, they must think you’re stupid!"

Senator Obama then offered up his own definition of the what the Republican’s version of change means.

"I mean maybe what they’re saying is ‘watch out George Bush’ you know except for economic policies, and tax policies, and energy policies, and health care policies, and education policies, and Karl Rove style of politics – except for all that, we’re really going to bring change to Washington! We’re gonna shake things up! What are these guys talking about? Do you think we haven’t been paying attention over the past 8 years?"

Obama then went point by point through education, tax policy, energy policy and health care telling voters why McCain’s version of change is not change like the kind he will bring.

Obama then opened up rare criticism on VP nominee Sarah Palin, "I know the governor of Alaska has been, you know, saying she is change. And that is great. She is a skillful politician. But when you been taking all these earmarks when it is convenient and then suddenly you are the champion anti-earmark person. That is not change, come on. I mean, words mean something. You can’t just make stuff up. You can’t just make stuff up. We have a choice to make and the choice is clear."

The Illinois Senator continued on with one last warning, "Don’t be fooled. These are the folks who have been in charge. John McCain’s party, with the help of John McCain, has been in charge."

UPDATE: McCain-Palin campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds responds: "Barack Obama has requested the equivalent of one million dollars in new pork barrel spending for every working day he’s been in the U.S Senate, while John McCain has never once asked for an earmark, and Governor Palin has vetoed hundreds of millions in government spending including killing the infamous ‘bridge to nowhere’. Just like so many other issues Barack Obama is all talk, has no record to back it up and isn’t ready to make change."

Very Well stated From Senator Barbara Boxer:
Last night at the Republican National Convention, John McCain used the word “fight” more than 40 times in his speech.
In the 16 years that we have served together in the Senate, I have seen John McCain fight.
I have seen him fight against raising the federal minimum wage 14 times.
I have seen him fight against making sure that women earn equal pay for equal work.
I have seen him fight against a women’s right to choose so consistently that he received a zero percent vote rating from pro-choice organizations.
I have seen him fight against helping families gain access to birth control.
I have seen him fight against Social Security, even going so far as to call its current funding system “an absolute disgrace.”
And I saw him fight against the new GI Bill of Rights until it became politically untenable for him to do so.
John McCain voted with President Bush 95 percent of the time in 2007 and 100 percent of the time in 2008 — that’s no maverick.
We do have two real fighters for change in this election — their names are Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

The only change coming from the Obama camp will be to move the corrupt Chicago style of politics to Washington.
He has never said one word against any do-nothing Democrat. McCain has gone against his Republicans colleagues time and time again.
Obama has been running his mouth. Palen has been running the biggest state with an approval rate of 82% just yesterday. Change is what we need, the McCain/Palin type of change. Not the socialist change Obama would put in place. After all, there is a Reparation to Blacks for Slavery with a cost of 1.4 trillion dollars on Obama’s agenda.

The idea that many Republicans are comparing Palin to Obama is laughable. Let’s review: a former beauty pageant queen with a degree in communications from the University of Idaho, 1.5 years of experience as governor of a state with fewer people than Dayton, Ohio, and prior experience as Mayor of a village of 6,500 vs. a former community organizer with a law degree from Harvard who has worked as a constitutional law professor, a productive state senator in one of the largest states in the country for 8 years, and a U.S. Senator for 4 years is laughable. And, just for the record, “no experience” Obama has done the following:
Illinois State Senate:
a) Led sweeping, bipartisan ethics reform;
b) Led an effort to expand health care to 150,000 people (that’s 1/5 the size of Alaska);
c) Led an effort to pass the Earned Income Tax Credit;
Senate (and, to those who say Senator Obama has spent all of his time running for President, somehow he has also achieved the following):
a) Passed the most sweeping Congressional ethics reform in history;
b) Led a successful effort to improve the medical care provided to our noble veterans
c) Fought against so-called loyal-vet McCain to EXPAND the GI Bill so that our brave vets have a chance at a better future through education when they return home;
d) Led the fight for legislation to reduce the number of nuclear weapons in the hands of rogue states and actors (somehow more impressive than commanding the Alaska National Guard as governor of Alaska where, at best, she’s authorized to deploy them to dig Anchorage out of a big snow storm)
e) has traveled extensively internationally PRIOR to this campaign, and, at this point, has met with the leaders of most of our major allies in Europe and the Middle East;
f) Spoke out against the Iraq War when it was unpopular to challenge the Bush administration (and when Sarah Palin was still presiding over a village smaller than my high school);
h) Challenged Bush and McCain to focus on real threats to our security in Afghanistan and Al-Queda instead of costly, Bush-created threats in Iraq;
i) Developed a nuanced foreign policy based on engagement as a first principle, and force as a last option. After mocking him for arguing for the importance of engaging Iran to reduce their nuclear threat, the Bush administration is now doing just that!
Not only do Obama’s achievements stand up to those of McSame, who voted with Bush 90% of the time, they dwarf those of Palin.
Let’s review here: Former Mayor of a town of 6500 who has been Governor for 1.5 years being compared to Senator Obama, who has been in state and national office for 12 years. Senator Obama has already influenced and helped to shape domestic and international dialogue on U.S. foreign policy, and his positions have been proven right on Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran. Laughable comparison.
The Republicans are shocking in their bravado, which is why they nominated Dubya twice! People voted for Hillary Clinton because she had REAL experience and credibility, and McCain insults them by picking this neophyte. Her record of independence from the corruption of her party is admirable; her abuse of her authority to punish her ex-brother-in-law was not, and sounds awfully Karl Roveian.
Ladies and Gentleman, Sarah Palin is NO Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama has my vote. He has a better record on women’s issues than this feaux-feminist, “Trophy VP” nominee, who opposes a woman’s right to chose and saddled up with a candidate who voted against equal pay for women and the Family Leave Act. McCain picked her after meeting/SEEING her ONCE over much more experienced women like Kay Bailey Hutchinson in Texas and Elizabeth Dole in North Carolina. Those two must feel like the disabled wife whom McCain left for his current trophy wife (whom he recently offered to enter in a nude beauty contest in exchange for the the votes of some biker dudes). Women of America, this is a slap in the face. I’d rather wait until Claire McCaskill, Kathleen Sebelius, or a number of other MUCH more qualified Democratic women have their chance (and think Obama will pick one of them as his VP for his second term).

He is right, Obama needs to keep saying that at every town hall meeting at every rally, get it in the minds of voters, because its ridiculous, McCain liked Obama’s theme of change so much he decided to make it his own, and he has been in Washington for more than 25 years and his party has controlled the White House for the past 8 years, and nothing good has been accomplished!

Now that’s straight talk, but Obama is the one speaking it!
The McCain/Palin campaign ought to be ashamed of themselves thinking we’re not paying attention! They’re a bunch of hypocrites!
Why isn’t Sarah Palin allowed to talk to the media, what is are the republicans afraid of that we’ll find out more about? And affair that she had with her husbands best friend?

Posted by: lily | September 6, 2008, 2:25 pm 2:25 pm

I don’t know if McCain/Palin can change anything anymore than Obama/Biden can. I do know Obama can’t cast stones at McCain for not changing anything in Washington when he is surrounding himself with people like Kennedy, Biden, Leahy, Reid, and Pelosi who have done absolutely nothing to change anything in ALL of their years in Washington. He also shouldn’t be talking about lobbyists when the Democrats are just as guilty, albeit becoming quieter about it. The lobbyists will flock to Washington if Obama is elected after all of the deals he has made with labor unions, teacher unions, etc. Do people really think support thrown to him comes with no strings attached? I’m a realist, neither one is going to change much of anything, I’ve decided I’m just going with who I think is most trustworthy, which doesn’t happen to be Obama at this point in time. At least McCain has gone against his own party on several occasions, more than can be said of Obama in the IL State Senate and his very short time in the US Senate. (I also can’t stand his flip attitude when he gives performances like stated above – he doesn’t know enough to be such a smart aleck yet.)

ANNA, in your entire list of the great Obama’s accomplishments, you do not list ONE specific piece of legislation he has authored. You use the word “led” many times in your description of his accolades, how has he been able to lead anything when he has spent more than 50% of his elected term in the US Senate running for president? The only thing he has authored are two memoirs, both of which contain lies and exaggerations about his life. He is an eloquent speaker, and that is the ONLY reason he is where he is. Speaches only go so far, action speaks louder than words. How many pieces of legislation haas Obama vetoed in his life? How many Democrats has he stood up to, or fired when they are corrupt? Obama is a joke with NO experience. I also notice that the media, and people like yourself like to compare Obama’s experience with the VP nominee and not the Presidential nominee for the Republicans. That is because Obama’s two years in the senate are a joke compared to McCain’s entire life of public service. Your arguments are very, very general and non-specific, just like your candidate.

It is being reported BO’s denver thing discarded American Flags in the “trash”. Boys Scouts have these and will bring to John McCain’s rally in Colorado Springs. BO has disssed Small-Town America, his wife was not proud of America until a few months ago, and now he and supporters are throwing our American flags into the trash. What is wrong with this guy? We must learn now his reasons for doing this, before the election.

Sarah Palin is very proud of McCain’s support of the ‘surge’ in Iraq. Isn’t she forgetting that if had not voted to support the war in Iraq we would not need a surge? Of course he supported the surge…he life is defined by war, as we heard (and heard, and heard) at the RNC.

did you guys here that Sarah Palin is being TUTORED on foreign policy? that is some scary sh-t!
With Russia, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, N. Korea…REAL THREATS…causing chaos, why would this woman so arrogantly decide she’d be ready to lead if she had to take over one day?
This woman is putting her self-interest above the interest of the American people. But no one should be surprised. This is a person who:
1. lied about her own record for political expediency.
2. paraded her own pregnant daughter and the father (both just teen-agers) onto the national spotlight for damage control, for her own political expediency.
3. is stalling now on an investigation for political expediency.
FOR ALL YOU REPUBLICANS WHO ALWAYS CRITICIZED HILLARY CLINTON FOR HER SHADY DEALINGS….WHY ARE YOU NOW SO HYPOCRITICALLY NOW EMBRACING SARAH PALIN? THIS WOMAN, NOW IT’S BEING REPORTED, EVEN HAD AN AFFAIR ON HER HUSBAND!!!!! THAT’S FAR WORSE THAN WHAT HILLARY HAS EVER DONE.

Obama and Biden need to play “hardball” and go for the jugulars of McCain and Palin. The Democrats lost the last election (despite the fact it was stolen) because they campaigned too civily. The Republicans are ruthless in their campaign tactics and know no boundaries of decency. If Obama is to win, he needs to get dirty and cut to the artery for the hemorrhage!

How about we talk about how qualified McCain’s vp pick is, lets talk about that!
Lets talk about how it took her 6 yrs and 6 different schools to complete a 4 yr degree in journalism with a minor in sportscasting, and the republicans want to place her as #2 in this country. Let’s talk about THAT.

Obama adopted the “Change” theme because when the Democrats did their market research, “change” was what the country wanted. Of course, change for Obama means more bureauracy and more taxes and government playing a bigger role, which will create all kinds of opportunities for insiders to get on the band wagon (people like Jim Johnson). However, McCain will make changes by decreasing government’s role.
By the way, Obama keeps saying McCain did not address any economic issues in his acceptance speech. What a numbnut! Energy is an economic issue and effects everything. A while back Obama blamed the economic squeeze of high gas prices not on the price itself but because the American people did not have time to absorb it. Meaning, he supported high gas prices as a means for conservation. Like I said, he’s a numbnut.

This is what Howard Gutman said, during an interview with Laura Ingraham.
(He was questioning Gov. Palin’s decision to thrust her daughter into the national spotlight)
- “This has nothing to do with gender, whether Todd Palin was the nominee or Sarah Palin was the nominee,” Gutman said. “If my daughter had just come home at 17 years old and said, ‘Mom, Dad, I’m pregnant, we have a family problem,’ I wouldn’t say, ‘You know what we’re going to do? We’re going to take this private family problem…and you know what I’m going to do? I’m going to go on the international stage and broadcast this to the world.’”
- Gutman continued, “this wasn’t a working mother issue, this was a parent issue…The proper attack is not that a woman shouldn’t run for vice president with five kids, it’s that a parent, when they have a family in need, a Down’s baby who needs them — mother or father.”
- “So you are judging her parenting skills,” Ingraham said. “You’re saying you don’t think she’s a good parent for doing this job.”
- “I’m saying the proper criticism is not that it’s a woman or man – it doesn’t matter whether it’s Todd or Sarah,” Gutman said.
========================================
Frankly, I think a lot of Americans have been having similar thoughts. Views like this have been expressed “around the kitchen table” across the country, in both Republican & Democratic families. Its NOT a partisan view.
You can disagree with what Gutman said, but there is nothing SHOCKING in it.

Sue,
I would agree with you but the same can be said of Sen. Obama, and he will be stepping right into the Presidency. Do you really think he knows everything as a result of being IL state senator and US Senator for only a year before spending most of his time campaigning? Do you think he is not, and has not been, getting brought up to speed on foreign policy? I’m still comparing the 2 Presidential candidates, not Palin against Obama. Frankly, I think Obama made a gigantic mistake not taking Hillary on board and a lot of the silly arguments would have been null and void. Too bad his stubbornness got in the way. We have had one stubborn president for the past 8 years, don’t need another one that puts pride above what’s best for the country. Clinton/Biden would have been the best possible ticket…too bad.

Well said Senator Obama! Perhaps the new change that we will see with Senator McCain will be less change in the pockets of the middle class hard working people and more change in the pockets of the sharks who preyed on this economy and rode to success at the cost of hardship of the middle class by sending jobs abroad, outsourcing work that put millions of Americans out of a job. Further change will be in the level of debt with the numbers changed recently to $9 trillion. The change the Governor of Alaska brings is a dramatic shift to the ultra right pulling Senator McCain along with her.

The Obama campaign rejected Gutman’s comments.

Davis, she’s not going to give a face to face press conference because a reporter might ask her a question. She can’t put her foot in her mouth if she keeps it closed. Kinda gutless, but no one has ever claimed republicans are dumb. They’re just evil.

For crying out loud, Mary, what kind of crap are you spouting? Obama has not, and never will, endorse slavery reparations. Only a paranoid right wing freak could believe that. Grow up, pay attention, stop bloviating your fears and join us at the grown-ups’ table.

Yeah…a new campaign theme…whining over the fact that Mccain is using his “change” mantra! I remember Hillary and the rest of her idiotic entourage had to reinvent her constantly when she began to slip in the polls! It didn’t work for her and it won’t work for him either! Obama will reinvent himself some more in the weeks to come! It won’t matter because in the end it comes down what you are selling; not how you package it! No O-bull!

Besides all BS coming from the left they are also saying that Obama is a bright man.Well.. quite honestly he is not. Some times he sounds like the retard. But this is not the most important thing…the most important thing that his friend in Detroit is going to jail and Obama is the next… REZKO .

What kind of change is Obama who picked same old Biden as his running mate?

.
Obama and his follower’s main topic is ‘eight more years of the same’. This is aimed at the gullible, as history shows the both democrats and republicans have made great Presidents. It’s the man and his principles that have allowed this, nit the party. But then the democrats can’t sell the man very well because of his baggage.

The population of the “great” state of Alaska is about 670,000 and I would remind people that they reaped big revenues from the sky high Oil prices. It isn’t hard to run a small state with a big surplus and don’t forget the 600 million Palin got from Uncle Sugar. She hates earmarks unless they’re coming her way.

Posted by: JR | September 6, 2008, 2:53 pm 2:53 pm

Simple…
McCain uses his candidacy and his career to promote change…
Obama uses change to promote his candidacy and his career…
Sarah Palin is the perfect example of change…
Old Joe Biden is…
Where is Old Joe Biden, anyway?

Posted by: Jayhawk | September 6, 2008, 2:53 pm 2:53 pm

Maverick McCain? Nope. Gelding, plain and simple. He surrendered his testicles to Karl Rove and Rove now has them on his key chain. The gelding will soon be put out to pasture and Rove’s braying little filly will be sent back to Alaska where she belongs.
By the way, Michael. Your post sounds like a tape recording of the Sean Hannity Show. Don’t you have any thoughts, ideas or words of your own?
God this is going to be fun. Sarah Palin, The GOP’s early Christmas gift to the Democrats.

Obama was recruited by the extreme Left Liberals Socialism or Communism alike and with a strong back support from the Muslim Americans called by Qadafi, and Barack Hussein Obama’s change is the wrong change. He will steal/rob our hard earning amd you will see. Big government spending is Obama’s strategy.
I am Libetarian, a former Hillary’s supporter, and I will Vote for McCain/Palin.
Obama has no executive experiences but bragged about it.

Obama understand the economic situation of america more than McSame who does not even no how many houses he has and he thinks a middle class family earns less than $5m per year.
Obama is addressing the main issues while McSame is attacking personalities. McSame is truelly the same as Bush.
McCain + Palin = McPain

Obama has the experience necessary. He is an eloquent spaker, and not only well educated but intelligent. These are charateristics necesasry to represent the USA to the rest of the world. I will be proud to have him as my President because the past eight years have been a laugh and we have been laughed at by the rest of the world

Posted by: jessica | September 6, 2008, 2:56 pm 2:56 pm

The problem is the American people have not had the benefit of the true facts about Palin.
For example she was in favor of the bridge to nowhere until she saw it was an issue and then changed her position because she felt she would lose the election.
She is supports the windfall profits tax on the oil company’s in Alaska which has given every man, women and child $3000 this year. McCain does not support windfal proit tax.
She took away money from parents for support of children with disabilities. Of course that was before she had a child with disabilities.
She cut real estate taxes, however that was for residential and all corporations including large. In the mean time increased sales tax. The end result the residents picked up the bill for the tax cut while the large corporations got a huge tax cut.
This is just a few examples of her “great record.
Before you make up your mind, you need to dig deeper than what you see.

Obama proved that he is such a hypocrat talking about change, he picked same old liar “Biden”. Is the change that he talks about are for terrorist Ayers? for radical pastor Wright? for fraud mayor Kilpatrick who is in jail? for Dohrn the terrorist? for muslim Iraqui nadmi Auchi? for convicted criminal Rezko? for Islamist Farrakhan? for tnti-social elements Black Panthers?
More taxes? more government? more of affirmative action? more control? less jobs? less growth?
Can Obama keep us safe and secure from Fundamental Islamic Terrorists?
I doubt this guy.
Safest choice is McCain and Palin who proved that he is the real reformer and embodiment of change in this election by picking up new star Palin as his running mate.

Listen up Obamabots:
The risk John McCain took a week ago Friday is comparable to the 72-year-old ex-fighter pilot knocking back two shots and flying his A-4 under the Golden Gate Bridge.
McCain’s choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his co-pilot was the biggest gamble in presidential history.
As of now, it is paying off, big-time.
The sensational selection in Dayton, Ohio, stepped all over the big story from Denver – Obama’s powerful address to 85,000 cheering folks in Mile High Stadium, and 35 million nationally, a speech that vaulted him from a 2-point deficit early in the week to an 8-point margin.
Obama had never before reached 49 percent against McCain.
As the Democrats were being rudely stepped on, however, Palin ignited an explosion of enthusiasm among conservatives, evangelicals, traditional Catholics, gun owners and right to lifers not seen in decades.
By passing over his friends Joe Lieberman and Tom Ridge, and picking Palin, McCain has given himself a fighting chance of winning the White House that, before Friday morning, seemed to be slipping away.
Indeed, the bristling reaction on the left testifies to Democrat fears that the choice of Palin could indeed be a game-changer in 2008.
Liberals howl that Palin has no experience, no qualifications to be president of the United States.
But the lady has more executive experience than McCain, Joe Biden and Obama put together.
None of them has ever started or run a business as Palin did.
None of them has run a giant state like Alaska, which is larger than California and Texas put together.
And though Alaska is not populous, Gov. Palin has as many constituents as Nancy Pelosi or Joe Biden.
She has no foreign policy experience, we are told.
And though Alaska’s neighbors are Canada and Russia, the point is valid.
But from the day she takes office, Palin will get daily briefings and sit on the National Security Council with the president and secretaries of state, treasury and defense.
She will be up to speed in her first year.
And her experience as governor of Alaska, dealing with the oil industry and pipeline agreements with Canada, certainly compares favorably with that of Barack Obama, a community organizer who dealt in the mommy issues of food stamps and rent subsidies.
Where Obama has poodled along with the Daley Machine, Palin routed the Republican establishment, challenging and ousting a sitting GOP governor before defeating a former Democratic governor to become the first female and youngest governor in state history.
For his boldness in choosing Palin, McCain deserves enormous credit.
He has made an extraordinary gesture to conservatives and the party base, offering his old antagonists a partner’s share in his presidency.
And his decision is likely to be rewarded with a massive and enthusiastic turnout for the McCain-Palin ticket.
Rarely has there been such an outburst of enthusiasm on the right.
In choosing Palin, McCain may also have changed the course of history as much as Ike did with his choice of Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan did with his choice of George H.W. Bush.
For should this ticket win, Palin will eclipse every other Republican as heir apparent to the presidency and will have her own power base among lifers, evangelicals, gun folks and conservatives – wholly independent of President McCain.
A traditional conservative on social issues, Palin has become, overnight, the most priceless political asset the movement has.
Look for the neocons to move with all deliberate speed to take her into their camp by pressing upon her advisers and staff, and steering her into the AEI-Weekly Standard-War Party orbit.
Indeed, if McCain defeats Obama, 2012 could see women on both national tickets, given McCain’s age and the possibility he intends to serve a single term, women at the top of both – Sarah vs. Hillary.
The arrival of Palin on the national scene, with her youth, charisma and vitality, probably also portends a changing of the guard in Washington.
With Republicans having zero chance of capturing either House, and but a slim chance of avoiding losses in both, a Vice President Palin, with her reputation as a rebel and reformer, would surely inspire similar revolts in the Republican caucuses.
As Thomas Jefferson said, from time to time, a little rebellion in the political world is as necessary as storms in the physical.
The Palin nomination could backfire, but it is hard to see how.
She has passed her first test, her introduction to the nation, with wit and grace.
And the Obama-Biden ticket, having already alienated millions of women with the disrespecting of Hillary, is unlikely to start attacking another woman whose sole offense is that she had just been given the chance to break the glass ceiling at the national level.
Her nomination, which will bring the Republican right home, also frees up McCain to appeal to moderates and liberals, which has long been his stock in trade.
With his selection of Sarah Palin, John McCain has not only shaken up this election, he may have helped shape the future of the United States – and much for the better.
Anybody But Obama…

I bought my wife a 2 yr subscription to U.S.Weekly magazine last Christmas as a stocking stuffer. I thought she would get a kick out of the deprecating articles about the Hollywood celebrities.
NO LONGER! Cancel our subscription!
After seeing the slanderous, malicious, attack-driven “cover story” entitled, “Babies, Lies & Scandal” meant to publicly embarrass Governor and Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin of the great State of Alaska, U.S. Weekly can take its communist drivel and peddle it to some unsuspecting victim elsewhere. To be honest, we all know that U.S. Weekly is far from the caliber of legitimate journalism.
However, since it has a readership in the millions, U.S.Weekly, is clearly trying to flex its Beverly Hills political muscle. U.S.Weekly should stick to what it knows best, like what Madonna has to say about saving the world and how noble she is by adopting children from third world countries. We all know how much better the USA would be with Madonna at the helm; after all she is best friends with another Hollywood liberal political force, Oprah Winfrey. To add to this phenomenal development, Madonna and Oprah, clearly are grounded and certainly connect with minimum wagers in this country, after all we all know that they don’t make much money and live in modest housing to remain relatable to the public. Madonna loves America so much that she spends most of her time in England. Oprah loves America so much that she launched her own magazine called, “O” and graces its covers every month so that all of us unfortunate working folks can be inspired by her grace and ability give away merchandise on her self-aggrandizing show.
The Republican Party has never been popular with the Hollywood set, and I don’t think that will change anytime soon. However, the public knows that you, Ms. Min and Ms. Wenner, are just employees of the New York Times which publishes U.S.Weekly. We aren’t fooled and we aren’t stupid. Both of you are openly and unequivocally Pro-Obama. You have doted and fawned over he and his wife with a child like naiveté. Your Pro-Obama coverage is a shining example of your liberal and leftist leanings. You are the sycophants that are repeating the pattern of Thomas Feyer, the NYT editor that raves about Obama and refused to print future President John McCain’s Op-Ed because our next President, John McCain did not agree with Feyer’s liberal rants.
Attacking Governor/Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin was the wrong thing to do. Not only have you energized the conservative political base in this country because of it, but you have galvanized those that truly love America and defend it for a living as I do. For your feeble attempts at a political insurgency against McCain/Palin, you will most definitely be rewarded!
With a decisive McCain/Palin win!

Dear MARY
You are correct. Comparing Obama to Palin is laughable.
Here are some facts about Obama and the great state of Illinois. 3 of the last 7 governors have been jailed for fraud of one kind or another.
The current house and assembly are controlled by the Dems. Illinois is ranked in the top 5 in the country in unemployment.
The current Dem governor is under investigation for alleged involvement with Tony Rezko who has been convicted of influence peddling.
I seem to remember a real estate deal involving Obama and Rezko.
Check this site for the article about an ABC photographer who was arrested for taking pics outside of a hotel in Denver
of high powered Dem lobbyists and Dem Senators attending a “special” shindig.
I won’t even mention the Rev. Still wondering how often he attended this Nazi church but I can’t seem to get any answers.

Ok, Ok, Obama may have used the change word first, but his change means going back to the days of Carter and even using the play book of socialist societies-which never worked. Exactly 20 years ago Biden was saying the exact same words”Change and the last 8 years have been a complete failure” Of course we know that to be untrue as we all know that the past 8 have not been a total failure.

Has Obama given a real press conference during the last three months where reporters were allowed to ask real questions? NO!
Obama is a shallow nutcase promising to socialize America by simply taxing the upper crust of society. Yet the math shows that will fall short. Since all taxes are passed downward, the poor and middle class will suffer.
Obama is a jerk. Just look at how he crumbles in the O’Riley interview. Like dried out fruit cake.

I am glad Obama is talking about Palin taking the alaskan pork. Maybe if Palin is really for change she will pledge to immediately discontinue all federal funds going to alaska and fund these projects with the excess oil taxes that she gave back to the people in her state. I, for one, am pretty disgusted that she is using my tax money from the lower 48 to pay for her projects while she gives rebates to the people who benefit from our pork contributions. Maybe she can reimburse the US treasury instead of handing out checks to the people. No wonder she has a 80%+ approval rating.

dwc-
Okay, that’s fair to raise the questions about Obama like that…I’ll give you that and thanks for being civil about it. So here’s my response:
Of course Obama has been talking to foreign experts, among them respected Republicans like Colin Powell who actually endorsed his foreign policy with the Late Tim Russert on MTP. Why do you think Powell hasn’t come out endorsing McCain yet? Obama, no matter what you think of him, always thought Iraq would be a distraction and said so from the beginning. You can argue that he wasn’t a senator at the time, but he was running for the senate and still spoke with conviction that our focus should be Afghanistan. He spoke up again and again how more troops were needed in Afghanistan and that Iraq needed to take responsibility for their country…it couldn’t just be an open-ended war. WELL, now it seems after so much denial…EVEN THE BUSH administration is implementing Barack’s vision of how the war should be handled. They are negotiating a pull-out timeframe after they found out Iraq had an 79 BILLION DOLLAR SURPLUS while the american people are in debt!!!! The Bush Admin. is now putting more troops in Afghanistan because they know they neglected going after the Taliban and Bin Laden. It’s a RESPONSIBLE tactic, but McCain and Palin are calling it retreat…they must not think that 4000+ dead soldiers, a debt in the trillions, and the taliban getting stronger is important…they want to win in Iraq. My question to them is why still IRAQ! Because of the oil? You have to wonder.
Barack unlike McCain did something RESPONSIBLE…he recognized Russia is now becoming an important issue and threat and said…IF anything happens to me, I have to leave the country in good hands…he chose the most qualified foreign expert in congress as that person. McCain chose a woman to win the election by swaying Hillary voters to him.
SO I ASK YOU….WHO PROVED TO PUT COUNTRY FIRST? You’re right…Barack could have chosen Hillary and secured the presidency…but he did the responsible thing…he chose Biden for his foreign policy knowledge. You might say, well that proves Barack is not qualified…I say it proves he once again exercised STRONG JUDGEMENT.
Thanks.

We have been lied to for 8 years under Bush. MCain is demonstrating that this will continue. Ex: the war in Iraq that killed many of Americans. Obama has stated that he will cut taxes for income earners under $250,000. Mcain is flat out lying and says that Obama will raise taxes for the American family not true!. He thinks that the American public is iqnorant! I am also confused as to why a poor white person would vote Republican when the Republican are against social programs that help the poor ex: (Wic) and (Welfare). Whites make up 70% of welfare recipiants they should all be in line to vote Democrat.

Dear concerned citizens of America and mass media of the U.S.A. [ ? Maverick steals Obama's change]
As a concerned disabled American Veteran and American citizen, I consider it my duty and responsibility to address the following critical issues facing the voters of our Greatgrand nation, the United States of America [USA].
The citizens of the United States of America [USA] have the ultimate power and responsibility to elect the Right Ticket with the right joint “temperament, judgment, and statesmanship” to lead our nation as well as change our nation’s present and future moral, political, economic, educational, health care, energy, military, and foundational soul.
In my firm professional, personal, and political opinion, the media should help the common voter to explore and discuss the following attributes of the present Republican and Democratic presidential slates:
1. Does the joint ticket have a calm, cool, and collected ” temper and impulse” [Presidential Temperament]?
2. Does each ticket have sound and sustained “Judgment and Caliber”?
3. Does each ticket have a “presidential depth and degree” in regard to their purpose, policies, and positions?
4. Does each ticket have adequate, “understanding and knowledge” of workings around Washington”?
5. Does each ticket have enough “vigor, wisdom and Vision” for the future of our beloved Great-grand Nation?
6. Does each ticket possess enough joint foreign policy experience and ex-poser based on “American Values, Virtues, Vastness, and strong soul”?
7. Are their campaign talk, slogans, ads, plans, and programs based on facts and are they free of fear, fiction, frivolous labels, unfair attacks, negativity, and impulsivity? [Danger to country and countries mission[s].
8. Ultimate irony is he stool change message and uses Palin to kill the messenger. Maverick McCain not good for USA and White House.
As a Independent registered voter I have decided to vote for Obama-Biden ticket. I am sure they will protect our national security, Strong’s, stamina and strong soul. Rebuild our nation from bottom up in all areas of need, OBAMA-BIDEN ticket will once again restore and rebuild our global standing with the use of maximum international firm diplomacy and minimal force if and when indicated.
Yours sincerely,

Has Obama given a real press conference during the last three months where reporters were allowed to ask real questions? NO!
Obama is a shallow nutcase promising to socialize America by simply taxing the upper crust of society. Yet the math shows that will fall short. Since all taxes are passed downward, the poor and middle class will suffer.
Obama is a jerk. Just look at how he crumbles in the O’Riley interview. Like dried out fruit cake.

It’s all about integrity and convictions.
I could never vote for a person that would take his children week after week to listen to a preacher profess that “AIDS is an invention of the white man to keep the black man down”, or “God Damn America”.
Nor could I vote for a person that would support that preacher when it was to his political advantage but abandon that same person when they became a political liability. The man shows no integrity.
Hopefully, America cares about integrity as well.

Sarah Palin was all for the bridge to nowhere when she was campaigning for Governor in 2006. Once this ridiculous pork was exposed and made the laughing stock of the nation, she killed it but KEPT THE MONEY!!!! That’s not “thanks but no thanks” That’s thanks and please turn your head while I keep all this money and spend it on other projects in Alaska. Pork Barrel Pig! And she never sold that jet on ebay, much less for a profit. She sold it through a broker a past donor to her campaign and she sold it at a loss to the state.

Obama has never denied that he got earmarks for his constituents. The amount of money for earmarks he’s asked for is far less than the majority of Senators. In fact, he co-authored the Government Transparency law with Republican Senator Coburn from Oklahoma. The law allows people to check (on the internet) what funding their legislators are asking for. Most of the earmarks Obama received are for medical research or education projects to help low income children (no bridges to nowhere). It’s interesting to note that along with Sarah Palin lying about supporting earmarks, Alaska recieves more earmarks than any other state in the country even though it has the second lowest population.

Jayhawk, you must not know any “traditional Catholics” if you think Ellie Mae Palin excites them. I’ve been a traditional Catholic for 54 years and I can attest that we’re not one issue voters. I’m not pro-choice but just uttering the words “anti-abortion” won’t get you my vote nor will it get you the vote of most Catholics if your record is like the rest of Palin’s. You know what most Catholics DON’T like about her? She’s a lapsed Catholic that joined a congregation that generally believes Catholics are heathens. Most Catholics I know wouldn’t trust her judgment and most “traditional Catholics” aren’t going to support someone who abandons their religious faith so easily. She’s been a member of three different religious faiths in her life. Don’t presume to speak for Catholics. Speaking for the many I know, we find her lacking and detestable.

I don’t care about Palin, nor do I think she represents change. She is the status quo for Republicans.
See the GOP doesn’t want to talk about their record of the last 8 years, so instead they change the subject by making stuff up about people.
The Republicans elects a doffus TWICE for President (Bush)and now I’m supposed to trust them to tell me the truth. After the endless lies and corruption from Republicans, I’m not going to trust them as far as I can spit.
The Republicans want to change?
What did the Republican Party do when they were in power?
The GOP is moving on from what?
They have yet to admit any mistakes so, why do they need to hide from the last 8 years?
Did the White House make mistakes? Is that why Bush and Cheney can’t be seen at any McCain/Republican events? Not even at the Republican National Convention?
Is the Republican Party John McCain’s now?
What do the Republicans do to “move forward”? Which way were Republicans moving our country before?

Pig Palin was against the bridge to nowhere after she was FOR THE BRIDGE TO NOWHERE, just like all her other lies, as she tries to distort Obama’s record. She is not even in his league so why McCain and the media keep putting her up against Obama is laughable. McCain and McPalin will only be a worse disaster in the White House. There is something about her we do not know and it is not good. Obama was 37 years old when he began working for Ayres to waste $100 million that was suppposed to improve education in Chicago. Instead they doled out money to leftists incluidng one of Ayres Weatherman terrorists.
Obama was 44 years old when he began doing the bidding of Ayre’s father’s employer Exelon (or Commonwealth Edison) in the Senate -making sure a bill to require Exelon clean up their nuclear waste was watered down and killed.
Obama was 46 years old when Exelon continues to pump money into his campaign.

I’m pretty disgusted with John McCain. I am a middle of the road Independent and was planning on voting for him. I would have been happy with him selecting Romney for VP. I could have even been OK with Lieberman. Now that he’s picked Palin I feel like he sold his soul to the Right Wing faction of the Republican party.

Real CHANGE you can believe in, is picking a guy who’s been a Washington insider for 37 years…Biden. Way to trash a theme you’ve been running on months, Nobama.
I want real change…the Maverick who wants to cross party isles, no partisan politics as usual…he’s proved it, ask Leiberman, hell ask Biden!
Same with Palin….made some decisions and went after those in her own party who were wrong…..her approval rating 80%. Straight talk express….CHANGE we CAN believe in.

LOL Obama liked earmarks before he hated them, earmarks like getting his wife’s work millions of dollars in grants or his friend Rezkio 13 million for one of his ‘projects’ his other friends nuclear plant millions in subsidies, last year alone he took over 300 hundred million dollars for his friends back in Chicago and now he’s running on cleaning up earmarks, keep talking you empty suit. Instead of getting rid of a jet Obama would have added a fleet and each one would bare his name the big 0, for being a big zero.

NObama lacks humility, experience, and wisdom. His choice of friends, associates, and clergy are beyond suspect. His great oratory requires the use of a teleprompter; he hems and haws when extempore, demonstrates trouble marshaling his thoughts and making up his mind on the fly, since he is not a man of deep convictions and principles. All blow and no go, he leaves the podium as little more than a fifty cent waffle. Having Harvard on one’s pedigree ensures only that one is intelligent and hard-working. The law degree is of little use for a Chief Executive, but is appropriate for crooked members of Congress who spend their days in search of loopholes to accomplish their nefarious ends–THAT is NObama!
Biden was ridden out of the Potomac swamp on a rail, tarred & feathered, after his plagiarized speech in a now mouldering Presidential bid. In this election cycle, he comes in last as a DNC contender, so now rears his ugly head only at the behest of the Messiah. History shows Biden has voted on the wrong side of all the foreign policy issues for which he has been ballyhooed by Democrats for being his chief strength.
Regardless, three timeless truths dog this campaign.
1. All one can legislate is morality–the only question is whose…
2. One cannot tax and spend one’s way into prosperity…
3. The best government is that which governs least.

After 26 years in Washington, NOW John McCain expects us to believe that he can change it, that’s SO FUNNY!!!
Maybe John McCain, who is suffering from alzheimers, doesn’t remember that he, and the Republican party have been running Washington for the past 8 years, that EVERYTHING that is going wrong in this country, STARTED with the republicans 8 years ago!!
Maybe John McCain has forgotten that the republicans actually inherited a balanced bugdet from Bill Clinton, and NOW after 8 disasterous years of GEORGE BUSH, our economy is in crisis: millions of jobs lost, people losing their homes, people struggling everyday just to afford gas, and food!!
We are in a war in Iraq which SHOULD NEVER have happened, and we are spending billions of dollars a month of our money rebuilding Iraq because GEORGE BUSH, and John McCain, his strongest cheerleader, invaded Iraq FOR NOTHING, and destroyed it, AND got 4000 aof our soldeirs killed for NOTHING!!!
ALL THE DISASTER WE ARE FACING IN THIS COUNTRY RIGHT NOW HAPPENED WITH THE REPUBLICANS IN CHARGE, THEY HAVE RUINED THIS COUNTRY’S ECONOMY, SENT 4000 SOLDIERS TO DIE IN IRAQ FOR A WAR BASED ON LIES!! 4000 AMERICAN SOLDIERS LOST THEIR LIVES!!!
IT IS JOHN McCAIN’S PARTY, THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LAST 8 YEARS OF DISASTERS THIS COUNTRY HAS FACED!!!!!

I see why Obama is having to come down from his Greek Temple and go on the offensive …
His polls numbers are NOT looking good !
The Obama camp is not going to like this but the race is definitely TIGHT.
A more Obama-leaning CNN is officially declaring :
“According the latest CNN Poll of Polls, Obama now leads the Arizona senator by three points, 45 percent to 42 percent. Last Thursday’s Poll of Polls showed the Illinois senator up by four points, 47 percent to McCain’s 43 percent.
The latest CNN analysis of several recent surveys DOES NOT include any post Republican National Convention tallies.
“While the race appears to be tightening up a bit, it’s worth keeping in mind that we still haven’t seen any polling conducted after the Republican Convention,”
This is closer than many pundits are making it out to be … never rule out the MAVERICK / REFORMER combination

If he had not been, he would’ve been barred from running. What part of this does your Sean Hannity kool-aid drenched brain not get?
Debra, it was established long ago that the incident to which you refer was not Obama not placing his hand over his heart during the pledge of allegiance. They were singing the National Anthem. If you look at that photo without your Rush Limbaugh glasses on, you will see that Obama is singing. Placing a hand over the heart during the playing of the National Anthem is done by some and not by others. I don’t do it. I sing along. I wore an uniform and defended my country. Does that make me un-American? Why do you dolts keep regurgitating all these disproved lies?

With a Resurgent Russia and the likes of Medvedev today reported to be saying “THAT RUSSIA MUST BE RECKONED WITH”, AND a SURGE STRATEGY is that succeeding in IRAQ; there appears to be an unfortunate conspiracy of events that is working against OBAMA and his game plan.
On a domestic front …

These are the facts how I see it! Our brave men and women do not wish to be bogged down in a war we should have never started with IRAQ! No matter how you Republicans try to spin this war into a patriotic experience, it is not! Bush and McCain have no business blowing up families just like yours and mine just because Bush and McCain cant admit they were wrong. There is nothing PATRIOIC about killing people that did nothing to us. Our soldiers care about what you and I care about and that is their families back in the States that are losing their jobs and houses because Mr. Bush has decided we the tax payers are gonna pump 10 billion dollars a month in IRAQ while IRAQ is sitting on a multi billion dollar surplus. Tell me this, why are we OK with our sons and daughters still dieing and being sent home in caskets? Some sit back and think that because we are not seeing as many American Soldiers being killed that everything is great in IRAQ! But can you look into the eyes of a American Soldiers Mother, Father, Brother, or Son and tell him or her that their loved one will not be coming home again? It doesn’t matter if it’s one million American Soldiers or one American Soldier that is killed in IRAQ, they are someones loved one and will be missed. We all know damn well we have no business being in IRAQ but some of us dont want to admit that our Government is wrong and we are wrong for sitting back and pretending that IRAQ attacked us. We are the most Powerful Country on this Planet but yet we can’t find one man name Osama Bin Laden but we can track down bird flew or mad caw disease in America to that one single chicken or cow that started it all. Amazing isn’t it! Going down the path we are going down now in America with the Bush McCain policies are only gonna lead Americans down a path that we will regret if we decide we are OK with another eight years of Bush policies. Vote Country and Family First! Vote For Change! Vote Obama/Biden. Goodnight.

kajun2468, If you think things are bad now, just wait what happens if Obama gets elected and kills the economy.
— Obama says he will reduce taxes below an income of $250,000 is a lie. Obama will rescind President Bush’s tax cuts which will increase a family of four earning $50,000 by $2500. Plus, Obama will be handing out welfare payments to the people who do not pay any taxes in the form of tax rebates and you guessed it, you and my taxes will have to go up to pay for it.
— Obama will also increase taxes of the small business owner earning $250,000. Small businesses are the primary job producers so when you take money from them they will have to lay off employees in order to pay for the higher taxes.
—Obama refuses to drill for more oil, build new refineries and new nuclear power plants which will increase our dependency on foreign oil and raise gas prices. Not only that, jobs that could be created by drilling for new oil, building new refineries and new nuclear power plants will not come about.
—Obama plans to increase the size of government by a TRILLION dollars. That means Obama’s buddies in the government will be getting the lions share of the peoples money. Government is corrupt, full of red tape and incompetent so most of the money will be wasted while the people have to tighten their belts while waiting for a handout from Lord Obama.

And every time someone mentions Rezko, how about the Keating 5? And how about the loophole John McCain wrote into the campaign bill allowing him to use his wife’s corporate jet when his campaign was out of money. He will attack Obama for wanting to raise taxes on America’s wealthiest citizens. And all McCain wants to do is tax insurance benefits to make health insurance even less accessible to Americans. Obama is uppity becauses he doesn’t want to ride in the back of the bus and because he can use words with 4 syllables. Here’s to an Obama victory in November. I won’t predict it though because it’s always possible with the Rovian sleaze McCain loves that McCain could oink all the way to the White House. I hope not.

Angie…here is the list of specific legislation in which Barack Obama was the primary sponsor (in other words, the legislation specifically introduced to Congress by him):
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/?&Db=d110,d110&querybd=@FIELD(FLD003+@4((@1(Sen+Obama++Barack))+01763))
Those are just the pieces of legislation in which he was the primary sponsor, not a co-sponsor. He specifically AUTHORED 152 bills. One-hundred fifty-two. Written by Barack Obama himself.
Add co-sponsorship, and his list expands rather significantly. He is listed as co-sponsor on 427 bills. Four-hundred twenty-seven. Those are JUST the bills he is listed as a cosponsor.
Mind you, that is just his career in Congress. He sponsored 820 bills in the Illinois State Senate. That is eight-hundred twenty.
To say Obama hasn’t introduced any legislation is a bald-faced lie. It’s not a misstatement, it’s not an exaggeration, it’s not a misinterpretation, it’s not a harmless fabrication, it’s not spin, it’s a LIE. A complete and utter LIE. A foolish LIE to boot, because anyone, anytime, can track this information online through the government database itself to verify the facts. You can also check and see who in government spent what, when. You can see the latter information in no small part thanks to BARACK OBAMA, and the sweeping government transparency legislation, plus the sweeping Ethics Reform Act of 2007 allowing us to see what lobbying money goes to whom, HE helped create, co-sponsored, and will forever have his name on in the historical record.
So, stop lying, or repeating lies spoken others. Verify information yourself. Check up on it. Certainly don’t trust some talking head on TV or the radio, as those are some of THE most biased OPINIONS around. These people get paid for their OPINIONS. Their OPINIONS are not, however, FACTS.

So you don’t agree that the war in Iraq was a good idea. Well, consider this, if Obama had got his way the US would be dealing with two Terrorists States that hate America, Iran and Iraq, on the verge of or with nukes. All I can say is that if Obama gets elected and waves the white flag of defeat in Iraq, you best go out and build a bomb shelter. Yeah, McCain proposes basic reforms of our unemployment insurance and public school systems downgrading both while increasing tax cuts for the rich. McCain’s “policies” are continuation of Bush’s. The big question is, are you better off today than before Bush”, I’m sure as hell not.

Obama is a glib, phoney-baloney, socialistic, arrogant, condescending, power-hungry, racist, elitist with delusions of grandeur. His candidacy automatically brings to mind the famous “Where’s the Beef?” query of the 1984 Mondale-Ferraro ticket. Obama is all hype and rhetoric – aided by a servile liberal media that worships this ideologue as if he were the second coming of Jesus. Give me a break!
I’m no big fan of McCain, but after months of having this FRAUD crammed down my throat by the communist news media in this country, I have made up my mind to vote for the McCain-Palin ticket – if for no other reason than to wipe the SMUG LOOK off the faces of Comrade Obama and his insufferable wife and their legions of Kool-aid drinking zombie followers….

It’s interesting that McCain supporters are calling Obama a crook when he has never been under investigation for anything. As much as people want to make up things about him…there’s no corruption on his record at all. McCain actually was investigated for the Keating 5 debacle. Now McCain selects Sarah Palin, a person he knew was under investigation for Abuse of Power. She worked very closely with Ted Stevens who is known as probably the most corrupt Senator ever. She ran his 527 and endorsed him. I’m not sure how the republicans think they can get away with running on the “refomer” ticket. They are the corrupt ones. Check out the facts for yourself.

The GOP change things wow, thats like believing in the tooth-fairy. When they had 60% control of the Senate and the House, they rammed all their favorite bills through congress without even a look by democrats and, of course, wonderful G Bush signed them. They went along with the thousands of Signing Statements by which Bush declared that he would not obey laws that he didn’t like. They agreed to the violation of civil liberties whereby the GOV can now enter your home secretly and take whatever they want, listen to all your phonecalls (better not have any relatives in certain countries that call you) and get all kinds of information on you from any source without your knowledge until a gov. agent knocks on your door. Today, people are presumed to be guilty when accused and relatives have a hard time finding you because you could have been shipped anywhere in the world, citizen or not. From McCain and Palin’s tone and attitude things would get much worse if the country was unfortunate enough to elect them. May such a disaster never befall us.

Iraq was not then nor was it ever going to be a threat to the US. And just how does Iran threaten us, if they had a weapon, how on earth could they use it on America?
If Iran wants to stop oil shipments, they don’t need a nuclear bomb, they could close the Straits with conventional weapons that they’ve had for years.
I also remind you that al-Qaeda has grown from a little group in Afghanistan to a big group everywhere BECAUSE we invaded.

Posted by: me | September 6, 2008, 4:16 pm 4:16 pm

Peggy, The GOP has not “killed” the economy the Obama and the Democrats have. Obama and the Democrats have refused to drill for more oil, build new refineries and new nuclear power plants which is the reason the US is so dependent of foreign oil, gas prices are so high and the dollar is so low.
High gas prices and our foreign debt is the real reason our economy is having problems now. If Obama and the Democrats had gone along with President Bush’s proposal to drill for more oil, build new refineries and new nuclear power, the economy would be doing just fine right now. That’s why it is so ironic that Obama is actually running on a platform of improving the economy when Obama is the cause of the bad economy.
So what I do not get is why you would support Obama when it is his economic policies that have caused all of our economic problems now and we will get more of the same if we elect Obama. Obama is for, higher taxes on the small businesses that create jobs, Obama is for higher gas prices, Obama is for spending a TRILLION dollars in new government programs that will suck he life blood out of the private sector and kill the economy.

Posted by: gary | September 6, 2008, 4:16 pm 4:16 pm

I’m starting to look at this election differently. If we as a nation are smart enough to vote for real change and elect Obama/Biden than there is hope and a future for us.
If we don’t, then we deserve everything we get and how the rest of the world views and deals with us – to hell with it.
Let the Republicans take fire for it. Congress will still be controlled by the Democrats so it will be another 4 years of gridlock just like the last 8.
Then Clinton will run, Obama supporters on 08 will be resentful, vote for someone else and the Republican will take control again and on and on it goes until we fall apart.

All the while the “Maveric” that championed deregulation that was in part the cause of this disaster, is out showing his new pretty “one trick pony” to everyone!
Listening to those two talk makes me cringe…
What is Sarah proposing we do about this NATIONAL BANKING EMERGENCY? I guess we will never know, as McCain won’t let her have a press conference!!
You can hide your “new pony” forever McBush!!!

I dunno Sam, why don’t you read them? Then, why don’t you compare them to the legislation sponsored or co-sponsored by McCain? Nevertheless, my point stands: To say that Obama hasn’t done anything, when he clearly has, is still a LIE.
So far, Obama has been co-sponsor on some pretty impressive bills, including the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006 (aka the Coburn-Obama Transparency Act)…which was co-sponsored by John McCain (betcha thought I’d leave that out, LOL). That is mighty impressive for a first-term senator. You must remember that Obama has done quite a bit considering the amount of time he’s been in the senate. He’s been co-sponsor or shared primary sponsorship on some rather important bills, the bill above being but one example.
You guys cannot even say Obama’s never been the primary sponsor on a passed bill, as he was indeed, being the lone primary sponsor for the Democratic Republic of the Congo Relief, Security, and Democracy Promotion Act in 2006.
So, just stop lying. If you disagree on policy, fine. Don’t lie about his record, or anyone else’s for that matter (including McCain’s!!!). If you cannot win the argument based on the merits, and must instead try to win on character assassination, or building up aspects of your candidate’s personality, you don’t have a leg to stand on.

Posted by: Moderation | September 6, 2008, 4:31 pm 4:31 pm

DS is onto something when he suggests dividing the country into 2 governments – 1 conservative and 1 liberal.
Just one problem: We tried that in 1861. Unfortunately the liberals thought it was worth killing 620,000 Americans rather than allowing the Southern States to secede from the Union.
So, after 4 years of invasion, plunder and devastation, the Union was forced back together at bayonet-point just so the left and right could continue to try to strangle each other for control of the so-called “united” government in Washington? Pretty stupid, huh?
Maybe liberals should apologize for putting secession down by force of arms and agree to let every state in the union vote on whether or not they want to continue to live under one government with people whose world-view and ideology they utterly detest?
Some folks outside America call this idea “self-determination” – you know, the idea that launched America in the first place. Too bad liberals tossed that concept in the trash bin in 1861.

Here’s what I don’t get, how can they still be touting the choice of Palin as a “Maverick” choice. It is just the opposite. He wanted Leiberman, and he wanted Ridge, but his right wing of his party said no! Now a “Maverick” would have said I will pick who I want. No instead McCain in an insane and cynical choice, picks the very candidate that his party, George Bush and all the neocon war party told him he had to. He made a knee jerk decision based on FEAR that his party would abandon him if he was a true Maverick. and the mistaken idea that just because Palin is a woman, that all women would fall in line. Bad choice for VP and evidently a bad choice for POTUS.

BillW, serving in the military is not, nor should it be a prerequisite for any elected political office. Ever. Under any circumstance. It likewise in no way QUALIFIES anyone for any elected political office. Ever. Under any circumstance.
All a military service record does is show that one was willing to fight to defend our country. That sort of service should certainly be honored. It should indeed be respected. The sacrifices by those who’ve served should definitely be remembered, their service rewarded. Nevertheless, it is not any sort of legitimate qualification for political aspirations.
Serving the public through alternate routes, such as community service and state-level public office is not a “lesser” choice than military service. To prop up soldiers, while denigrating those who serve in local office, the peace corps, and the many other forms of public service, is insulting to ALL who have served We the People.

Tim, You are wrong.
Files from Saddam clearly proved that Saddam had every intention of restarting his WMD program since he did not think he would be invaded. So fast forward to today, and yes, IF SADDAM WAS STILL IN POWER AS OBAMA ADVOCATED the US would be dealing with TWO terrorist Nations with or about to have NUKES.
Iran and Iraq would not have to attack us directly, they could just hand their nukes over to terrorists, there are still many about, and they could attack us just like they did on 9/11 only with real nukes.
I never said Iran would stop oil shipments with a nuclear bomb, so I don’t get your point there.
Not true, Al Qeada gathered all of their forces to oppose and defeat the US in Iraq and they failed thanks to the Iraqi people and the brave men and women of the US military. Recent report has it that Bin Ladin’s remaining captains are now reduced at the moment to hitting “soft” targets because their command and control has been, shall we say now, “softened up” from either fear, destruction on many fronts (along with capture) or both. Part of that fear no doubt is that the Bush Administration has taken a cue from previous administrations all the way back to Jefferson to declare that states as well as rougues that make war with terror, or aid and abet such activity, and that both are liable to be punished. In punishing Hussein and his henchmen the other bozos out there are put on notice. Like Hussein, they may or may not be dead, but they are certainly having to operate …”underground.” As to Afganistan , more progress against Al Qaeda and the Taliban is also being made there, despite what you hear in the media.

Tim, President Bush must be doing something right since the US has not been attacked since 9/11. President Bush’s tactics of going after terrorists States, including Saddam’s, has put the rest of the terrorists on notice that the US is not a “paper tiger” as Osama said the US was and will attack its enemies. Your point that Saddam did not have WMDs may be true, but the real issue is that, as Hugh, said, Saddam was planning to restart his WMD program and with no fear of attack from the US, he would probably be well on his way to having Nukes by now. So Obama was not only wrong on not invading Iraq, Obama was also wrong on being against the surge as if Al Qaeda had won in Iraq and defeated the US, there would be hell to pay making 9/11 look like a picnic.
Bottom line, Obama’s idea of appeasement and waving the white flag of defeat in Iraq is just plain dumb in the very dangerous world we live in.

rodney, I like big oil. Big oil takes the risks necessary to get the oil I need to run my car, heat my home and keep the economic engine of the US running. Just think where you would be without big oil. No gas to run your car, no oil to heat your home and no energy to keep the businesses of the US running. So stop putting down big oil please. Oil is good. We need more oil, but if Obama gets his way we will have less oil, higher gas prices, fewer jobs and a lower standard of living. If you want to ride a bicycle as Obama proposes and turn your heater off, go for it. That is not my idea of “the change you can believe in”

I think all of our founding fathers, Abe Lincoln, & Martin Luther King, are turning over in their graves right about now. This was not, and is not, what their vision for the UNITED States of America: to be divided by the color of our skin or the gender of the candidates. Just because your candidated didn’t win doesn’t mean you should stop believing in what the others stand for. No one likes looking at “the man in the mirror” because it shows the TRUE person to one’s self. Not vote for Obama because Hilary didn’t win?! Why not? Because he’s (ohmyGod) BLACK?! Not vote for McCain because he’s (ohmyGod) G. W. Bush?! Are we voting for what makes this country the GREATEST country in the world, or are we voting on,….? What we REALLY need is someone who is truly OF THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE, & BY THE PEOPLE.

I think George Bush (almost) said it best (see “Fahrenheit 911″) – “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.” So, America, will we let ‘em fool us three times? What happens then? Shareholders and corporate boards get rid of executives that produce lousy results. And, they don’t replace them with new executives who expect to do the same things and get different results. We are all America’s “shareholders” and our congressmen and senators are our directors. Let’s give them a very strong message in November.

‘Change’ means running for president as an adult, not as two bottom of their class flunkies who didn’t do well at the naval academy (McCain) or came in runner up to a black woman for Miss Alaska 1984 (Palin).

‘Change’ means running for president as as two experienced adults with numerous accomplishments, not as a man with ZERO accomplishments, only job titles and a big ego who belonged to a church for twenty years whose Preacher shouted from the pulpit “God D### America”

Mc Cain should change his position and then espouse his change candidacy. For instance he should stop trying to stop benefits for our returning veterans including my son who fought alongside in Iraq and comes home to find out that John McCain is against the GI Bill. Obama supports veterans bills every time and was wonderful to our troops in Walter reed. Mc Cain stood in front of a picture of Walter Reed high school during his acceptance speech how screwed up as it pertains to veterans benefits can this guy get? Change we can believe in belongs to the new guys time to throw the clowns W. Bush, Cheney, Rove, Schmidt, Mc SAme, Lieberman, Graham, Craig, Palin, Giulani, Thompson the whole lot of them out and bring some fresh air and ideas to an America that is drowning in stupid moves from these folks. Gary wrote: High gas prices and our foreign debt is the real reason our economy is having problems now.
Pretty much categorically untrue. The credit markets and falling housing prices are largely to blame for the disastrous economy–here and in Britain. Our falling credit markets hurt the rest of the world’s economy because we have so many foreign investors in our banks and in our bonds.
While the housing market is not exclusively the fault of the Bush administration, they have definitely supported any lack of regulation in the banks as well as a lack of regulation in Freddie and Fannie Mac, which are now going into conservatorship, at the demand of our foreign investors. By funneling so much of our nation’s money to Iraq, Bush has run up a huge deficit, which is primarily being funded by foreign investors, especially China. Contrary to what you like to believe, most economists claim that the rising energy prices are the RESULT of and not the CAUSE for: (1) the decreasing value of the dollar, largely due to the deficit; and (2) increased global demand for energy.
You seem to want to ignore this, but having a GIGANTIC deficit hurts your economy, especially when you have troubled credit markets. Independent economists have concluded that the McCain economic policy does not reduce spending even close to enough to make up for the continued tax breaks, which means that our deficit will continue to grow. In the meantime, while it takes AT LEAST 5 years for drilling or nuclear power to have ANY effect, we will still have the same vulnerabilities to the swinging credit markets that we have today.
If the economy is important to you, don’t vote McCain. I’m an Obama supporter, but I’d rather folks vote for Bob Barr than McCain. At least he’s a real fiscal conservative.

Chris Monica,
You speak in generalities. What “change” are you talking about that you like so much that Obama is proposing?
– Obama’s proposal to get rid of Bush’s Tax cuts which will raise the taxes of a family of four earning $50,000 by $2500?
— Obama’s proposal to raise the taxes of businesses which will kill jobs?
— Obama’s proposal to increase government spending by a TRILLION dollars which will quadruple the deficit?
— Obama’s continued blocking of new oil drilling, new refineries and new nuclear power plants that will increase our dependency on foreign oil and increase gas prices?
— Obama’s proposal to wave the white flag of defeat in Iraq so Al Qaeda can declare victory and use Iraq’s oil to fund attacks against the US?
Be specific, just exactly what is Obama proposing to “change” that will make your life better, not worse? From what I can see, everything Obama is proposing will result in fewer jobs, higher gas prices, an America more likely to be attacked again by Al Qaeda and a lower standard of living. If that is the “change” you can believe in you are pretty stupid or a self hating machochist.

Plus, no intelligent voter wants BO who is the product of the ages old, old Chicago Southside political machine.

Posted by: ltk01 | September 6, 2008, 6:03 pm 6:03 pm

ethel08,
Obama is for increasing the size of government by a TRILLION dollars. How is that going to reduce the deficit? Answer: It will increase the deficit.
Obama is for increasing taxes on businesses, the job producers, which will result kill the job market and thus reduce government revenue which will also increase the deficit.
Just what economic policy of Obama’s will reduce the deficit and not increase it? Answer: Obama’s economic policies will kill the job market, reduce tax revenue and grow the government by a TRILLION dollars which will make the deficit go sky high. So for Gods sake if you are a fiscal conservative don’t even think of voting for Obama. Stay home or better yet, vote for McCain/Palin.

Because she’s having an intensive crash studies and the subjects are:

2) Introduction to Foreign Policy and Startegies-Course 102.
It’s alright. It is within her right to study the above courses. But, the most unfortunate thing about the crash courses is that her professors are members of the Bush administration! And what does that tell you about Palin/Mccain ticket?

Obama’s vision for America will decrease taxes for most Americans, create new jobs in the altrernative energy field, and keep the U.S. safe with an intelligent foreign policy that is concurrent with the evolving parsdigm of the modern world.
That’s some of the specifics, Kay.
McCain and Palin represent the troublemakers and submissive God-fearers, the old-guard of rankism, prejudice and utterly foolish disregard for diplomacy and common sense. Why hasn’t the media confirmed the rumor that Governor Palin left her city in $22 million debt? I heard someone say this on Larry King Live. This is a big issue. If it is true, her record would be very Republican. I mean look at this country today. It is so sad that people are blind with the smoke screen of Governor Palin. Senator McCain is so weak that he is pimping her to the public. His campaign is so desperate that Palin is the only thing he talks about. He stole Obama’s Change theme because he really doesn’t have one of his own. We all respect his military service but he is not the change agent. I mean…..C’mon, He has been in Washington 26 years. His entire Convention centered on political lynching. Typical, how Americans treat black men in this country. Then McCain got up and had the gall to say that he wants to work bipartisan and said that he respected his opponent. You liar after having everyone of your speakers get up on the stage and verbally castrate Obama. I don’t think you respect him McCain. He is such a liar, Obama is going to raise taxes, …….lies, lies, Not to mention Palin who couldn’t speak on the middle east issues if she had to do it on her own. She lost my respect after her speech. Why couldn’t she just introduce herself. Oh yeah, Palin is a Christian. Repubs never tell the truth unless it is politically or economically advantageous. These two candidates, will bring change alright…..a couple of dimes to rub together after they finish the job George Bush started.
McCain’s campaign is run by lobbyists and that man doesn’t understand what it’s like to not eat lunch so you can have dinner.
This is a joke. McCain/Palin are running “The Campaign To Nowhere.”

Posted by: Rex | September 6, 2008, 7:14 pm 7:14 pm

McCain, Palin, and the GOP don’t want you to know the real situation of the country after 8 years of George Bush. The American Human Development project combed through federal government data to assess health, education, income, and many other factors affecting quality of life: The US is TRAILING EVERY OTHER WESTERN DEMOCRACY!!!
To be specific a comparison of the US to the 30 most developed countries in the world will SHOCK Americans:
1/ The US spends more than ANY other industrialized country in health care per Capita and in percentage of Gross Domestic Product. Yet it has the highest level of new AIDS cases, the highest number of obese people; it ranks only #21 in number of practicing physicians per inhabitants, #23 in life expectancy, and #25 in infant mortality (Only Turkey, the Czech republic, Mexico, Korea, Hungary, Poland, and the Slovak republic do worse).
2/ Take key education indicators like performance in Math and Science in school, the U.S ranks #25 and #21 respectively… nothing to be proud of. No improvement in sight with Sarah Palin’s goal to teach creationism.
3/ Look at standards of living. Despite having the 2nd highest GDP per Capita of all industrialized countries, the US in contrast has the 2nd highest child poverty rate of those countries, the 2nd highest rate of people living below the median income, the 3rd worst ratio of income distribution between its richest and poorest citizen. It ranks as #24 for the number of people suffering from long-term unemployment, #27 in terms of minimum paid annual leave, #23 for maternity leave, #17 in savings rate with personal debt and bankruptcies rampant … you call that a life ???
4/ How about crime? The US has the highest number of people incarcerated in proportion to its population (3 times more than #2 Poland, and 7 times more than even countries like Turkey and Korea), but guess what? It still manages to have the 2nd highest murder rate, trailing only Mexico.
5/ The worse part about this is that Alaska, Sarah Palin’s state has a poorer record than the national average despite the fact that it is one of the largest recipients of federal subsidies ($1.84 for every $1.00 it pays into the U.S. Treasury). It means that this self-proclaimed fiscal reformer who flirted with right-wing libertarian ideas is a hypocrite to the least! She has already been proven to be a liar.
So I urge everyone who is serious about this election to get the facts. They lead to only one conclusion when partisanship is removed from the equation: Obama is the best candidate.

McCain and Palin will lose because they keep talking about lower taxes and lower spending. This is not the kind of change the middle class public school people desire.

Obama does not talk about lower spending and lower taxes. This is why the middle class will vote for him. The middle class has accepted high taxes and spending, it is a non-issue. Lower taxes would be too much change, and this scares the middle class, why else are so many voting for Obama.

Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-Ill.) 2007 rating was 10 percent, making his lifetime score 18 percent. The 2008 Congressional Pig Book contained 53 earmarks worth $97.4 million for Sen. Obama, including $1,648,850 for the Shedd Aquarium.
• Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) received the worst possible rating in 2007 with 0 percent, while his lifetime rating is 22 percent. According to the Pig Book, Sen. Biden had 70 earmarks for a total of $119.7 million in fiscal year 2008, including $246,100 for the Grand Opera House in Wilmington.
• Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) received a score of 100* percent and has a lifetime rating of 88, has never requested nor received a single earmark, and has pledged to veto any spending bill that contains any earmarks.

To all of you who are so concerned about the cost of Obama’s plan:
Have you considered this war in Iraq, which was unnecessary, harmful to the security of our country, unprovoked and justified with lies, will cost us as much or more? And that isn’t even counting the ~500 billion dollar annual defense budget.
Personally I would rather that we spend a trillion dollars on making our country and this world a better place, instead of using it to blow up people and make the rest of the world despise us.
I know you will want to tell me that the people we are blowing up are our enemies, and that we should deploy all of our resources to destroy them. There are a few problems with this though.
1) Many of the people whose lives we end up destroying were not the people we were targeting. The military has often been misinformed, and even when right our airstrike accuracy has been unexceptional at best.
2) Iraq was not the home of the people who attacked us on 9/11. Due to the incompetence of the military strategy (note that I say strategy and not ability to carry out missions), these people are now scattered around the globe, and gaining followers whose hate is fueled by the hubris of the American government.
3) In this interconnected world, it is foolish to think that an attack on another country will not come back to bite us. It is time to get over the nationalism and xenophobia of the past and realize that we are all on this one globe together. If America applied the principles of democracy abroad as well as she does at home, the world would be a better place. It is time to get over the cold-war mentality of our most senior politicians and realize that we have responsibilies as well as rights in our dealings with the rest of the world.
Some of you might call me unpatriotic, but I don’t think you understand. All I want is to be proud of the actions of my country, and I definitely have not been for the past eight years.
I hope all of you will join me in electing Obama to the presidency. While he is not perfect, he extends a modicum of hope that America can regain her footing and her pride in the next four year. Look beyond the dollar signs to the true cost of the Republican policies.

“But when you been taking all these earmarks when it is convenient and then suddenly you are the champion anti-earmark person. That is not change, come on.”
Exactly. If you want change, you need multi-million dollar earmarks for your wife’s employer.
The same employer who then immediately promotes your wife to a new cushy job they made just for her.
Because that is change. That is change from Federal level corruption up to Chicago style corruption.
It definitely is a new level, and does indicate change… but is it good change?
Well, I guess he didn’t promise good change, did he?
Good research looking up his earmarks and seeing how they frame the story … oh, ABC didn’t bother with that information?
Well, research is hard, but parroting Obama talking points is easy… good job getting a late update to half-heartedly show the other side.
That was probably almost as hard as real journalism and reporting…

Obama somehow thinks that he owns that word “change”. It is his gimmick, and he does not want anyone else using it. It is his soundbite with little substance.
He used all of these tactics against Hillary Clinton, claiming that she was part of the old inside Washington crowd, and “untrustworthy”. Now, when he became so low in the polls, he picks Joe Biden, who has been there longer than almost everyone. Does that sound like a new Washington? Does that make you feel more secure at 3:00am?
McCain is no George Bush, and he has the scars to prove it. He has stood and fought for the right things, including the surge, which Obama finally admitted was successful. Unlike Obama, McCain has substance, experience, wisdom, and stands and fights for what he believes in. Obama promises to do everything, and Joe Biden knows that is not possible, even if Obama doesn’t. We need a priority list at this dangerous time: security, energy independence from foreign oil, and fiscal responsibility. The records of McCain and Palin prove who they are and what they stand for. We can trust them to do what is right for America. We cannot trust Obama. He is green, has a poor record, and he is a soundbite candidate deeply lacking in substance.
Change is what you actually do, not a vague promise. McCain and Palin have actually made change. With them, it is not empty soundbites without records to back them up.

But can you look into the eyes of a American Soldiers Mother, Father, Brother, Sister or Son and tell him or her that their loved one will not be coming home again? It doesn’t matter if it’s one million American Soldiers or one American Soldier that is killed in IRAQ, one is to many.

Orlando B. In war people die, how soon we all forget about 9/11. I am a vet with 2 children who are eligible to enlist, I would be very proud of them if they do so, but it is their choice. I don’t want them to go to Iraq and die but I am looking beyond me, I am looking at what is best for the country. I have been to Iraq and seen the JOY they have that we are there saving their country. Unless you’ve been there you can’t know the joy in that. those people help vindicate us being there. I don’t want to see ANYONE die but in war it happens and when you consider the amount of troops there vs. the number that has died it is under 8% making this war our least deadly. I am not making light of death but the end result will be worth it. Sorry if I am coming across as a war monger I am not, but I am facing the facts, us leaving will have devasting effects on US.

NEWSFLASH!
THIS JUST IN:
McCAIN IS ACCUSED OF THEFT!
Apparently still reeling from being caught steeling no less than 12,000 US flags from the Democrats in an overnight raid recently, now authorities are revealing more theft complaints involving McCain and his personal entourage.
As if steeling 12,000 flags and blaming it on local Boy Scouts wasn’t enough, McCain now stands accused of steeling a copy of Gideon’s bible from a hotel in Minneapolis during his stay there for the convention earlier this week.
Hotel employees gave a list of several items missing from the Hotel after McCain stayed there, including the Bible. Other missing items included three cocktail glasses, an ice bucket, several bars of soap, three rolls of toilet paper and those tiny little ketchup and mustard bottles.
Boy Scouts den mothers also expressed their dismay given the recent circumstances surround the wild accusations that somehow Boy Scouts were wandering the Invesco Arena area during the late hours after the DNC Convention and had stumbled upon 12,000 US flags, which they were then alleged to have stolen and having fenced in Minneapolis to the RNC. “I am shocked” said one mother. “Little Jimmy is in by sunset in tucked in by 8:30 every night, including weekends”.
“These Bibles are no longer free to steal” said the Hotel manager anonymously for fear of scurrilous reprisals by Republican fanatics. “It clearly states on the inside cover that you have to send away now for a free copy of the Gideon’s Bible” exclaimed the Hotel manager.
“You can’t just go willy-nilly taking things as if you own the world” the manager added. “I hear he was illegally downloading music off the internet last month to use in his TV commercials to bash the Democrats.”
Apparently McCain has long suffered from a rare disorder called “Hotel Kleptomania” stemming all the way back to his days in the Hanoi Hilton, where staff still insist he would take spoons, which have not been accounted for to this day. McCain still holds a grudge against the Hiltons, recently implicating young Paris Hilton in one of his regular tirades about Barack Obama, his staunch Democratic rival for the presidency.
The Hiltons were not available for comment, but a spokesperson for the Hotel chain said that McCain has been blacklisted from staying at their hotels since the early 70s due to missing items whenever he would stay at one of their hotels.
This is just one more blow to the McCain camp, still reeling from theft accusations including stealing Barack Obama’s political campaign theme and message as well, a message of change and reform. “We knew he had taken the message”, as did several witnesses who spotted McCain, Washington insider and veteran politician for a quarter century, spouting the term change and reform where several members of the American public were gathered.
One witness said he knew McCain had stolen Obama’s message when he heard McCain having tremendous difficulty pronouncing the word “change”. “It sounded so strange coming from Mr. McCain that you could readily see he was unfamiliar with the concept or how to pronounce the word” said one eye witness. A local panhandler handed McCain a dollar, thinking McCain was begging for a hand out. “I just felt sorry for the guy” said the homeless man, he kept saying “change”.
Mr. Obama stated that “This is a sad day for all Americans” and lamented that McCain really had no message or content of his own to use for his campaign. Mr. Obama volunteered to donate his political message and theme to McCain just as soon as he was finished with them, after November 6th.
Democratic supporters feeling bad for poor McCain have started a campaign and are mailing McCain their loose change.

Posted by: THIS JUST IN | September 6, 2008, 10:45 pm 10:45 pm

Emperor Obama has no clothes, and it’s starting to show: “stupid”?! Wow, that’s high-minded.
About the word “change”, Gov. Palin said it well the other night:
“In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers.
And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change.”
Like I’ve been saying for the last month or so: McCain is the REAL change, the REAL One.

Maybe Obama ismad cause if McCain says change people might get the idea to examine whose change they want. Obama will gives us change to socialist government with heavy taxes that will kill the economy and ultimately lead us to a one world government under the UN. McCain will attempt, i say attempt because he will have to deal with Nancy and Harry, to stop wastful spending, lower taxes which will energize our economy.

Barack Obama has never led anything. Nothing. Nada.” – The most excellent Rudy Giuliani praising Obama’s resume.
Change? yes, Barack “lava lamp” Obama can change into anything you want him to – ask him to take a stand on anything and he will change.

Johnny McSame is a pathetic excuse for a human being as he tries to steal the mantle of change from Sen. Barack Obama. To hear this bed mate of George W. Bush talking about change is like listening to Adolf Hitler speaking about humility. No matter how McSame attempts to disguise it, the only change he has ever been concerned about is the status of the cancer that seems to have reached his brain. This is proved beyond any doubt by his selection of Sarah Palin to be his running mate. Though the most important decision McSame had to make at this time, he obviously threw out rationality and reality in favor of a novelty he believes will help his campaign. Given the reckless, dangerous, and irresponsible nature of this decision, McSame cannot complain about Sen. Barack Obama’s alleged lack of experience and judgment. McSame just proved to the world that experience (he’s been in the Senate forever) does not bestow on a person wisdom, prudence, and reasonableness in the realm of decision making. Impulsive and rash, Johnny McSame is the last person we need in the White House during this troubled period in our nation’s history, when conservatism has just about managed to destroy the country. A madman and a crook -what a pair the G.O.P. has chosen to lead this country. No way, no how, no Johnny McSame. Obama/Biden 2008!!!

Compare their intellect as you listen to their inner/true spirit and real integrity. I discern above the politics that Obama is the man. He is intellectually and spiritually better equipped and qualified (by his ‘community service and personal experiences,)far beyond both John and Sarah combined (many times over) for me to entrust the CHANGE we need in America now and for generations to come to him.

If you listened to Obama;s inner spirit you would see he is in it for himself. Community service makes him a good leader? I have spent many years performing community service as well, to special olympics and what not does that make me a good leader? As for personal experience enlighten me.

Some voters will not vote for Barak because he’s black in spite of his issues. They WILL NOT CHANGE!!! Guess who they’ll be voting for?? That’s where CHANGE is needed. They call themselves great Americans… yeah right. McCain/Palin and the GOP need to focus their change rhetoric and political energy that way for the GREAT AMERICA!!!! they and the conservative media are so proud of. Barak and the Dems will manifest real and monumental CHANGE to make this nation GREAT AMERICA ( by definition of the world) when he gets elected as the leader of the FREEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! WORLD.

The lead that Obama is commanding has shrinked further …
The latest Gallup puts Obama at 47% (down 1%) and McCain at 45%. This is NOT taking into consideration the full comvention bounce for McCain/Palin.
The race is now officially TOO CLOSE TO CALL.

Posted by: Honey, I shrunk the lead | September 7, 2008, 1:30 am 1:30 am

Al,
Barak’s community involvement required a deliberate choice of personal sacrifice for service at community level against impossible entrenched odds (not for personal gain ) before and after he graduated (with flying colors) Law School – to – lining his own pockets and be part of the established capitalistic establishment.
I call that ‘Doing Love’ not just preaching it.
Obama reflects a very rare kind of “LEADERSHIP” and intellectual curiosity to questioning centuries old and long standing status quo and the ideals of this Great America (also the GOP’s America)to conclude that there are far too many incongruences between what we say in Great America and WHAT IS!!!! Between the ideals of the Constititution and WHAT IS!!!! Between the Vision/Dream and REALITY!!!

You are right, Mr. Tucker Bounds, Barack Obama has no record to back it up and isn’t ready to make change. You are right, because he is a brand new and clean slate for the electors to write on. That is YOUR opinion. What really matters is what Senator Obama has been saying throughout the last 20 months: This election is about the American voters, it’s not about him, it’s not about Biden, McCain or Palin. Also, when McCain/palin talk about Change coming to Washington, they too are right: OBAMA THE MAN IS THE BIG CHAGE THAT IS COMING TO WASHINGTON! HE ROCKS!!!!!

Palin is a better choice than Biden. McCain had the guts to stand for his beliefs while Obama cannot voice his position until he checks the popularity polls.Voting present is not experience. So he gives good speeches, but Obama is all talk and no action; his voting record is the proof. He was present but could not decide yes or no. he made a huge tactical error bypassing Hillary as his VP. Dissatisfied supporters of Hillary Clinton will not vote Democratic; they are backing McCain/Palin.

Posted by: Carpenter Joe | September 7, 2008, 2:45 am 2:45 am

Look, who is talking? We have seen what change message Sen Obama follows, by using the charm of the word per se, to beat down Sen Clinton. He accused Sen Clinton of belonging to divisive old style Washington politics, while getting the blessings and lobbying with the Kennedys, the Kerrys, the Pelosis and all. His choice of his running mate shows how much he believes in his own words! If we look at his post-primary season sprint towards the other extreme on every issue that he argued for during the primary season, his message of change appears hollow. He gives a rousing speech on race but he hides behind the privilege of belonging to a particular community, every now and then crying wolf about it to deflect all critcisms and questions about his credentials, as he tried to do against the republicans, but now avoids it when his campaign was rapped in the knuckles for the same. The McCain campaign has been able to checkmate him on his key messages post-convention. Their key messages have been diluted significantly. One can understand the anguish on their part, that someone could just hijack their own mesages the way they did during the primary campaign.

John McCain knows all to well the policies of George W. Bush, because he has supported them for two years as the pound of flesh he had to pay to get into one of the two major parties.
He wanted to be the big kahuna, and was willing to sell out his values to do it.
Now, he wants to market himself as a change agent like Barack Obama, to get himself into the presidency, and is saying, “Me too! I want change too!”
But when the Republicans say they want more of the same, he says, “Me too! I’ll keep all the tax cuts, and the foreign policy ideas, and the corporate giveaways! Me too!”
You can’t play both sides, Senator McCain. And even if you could, “Me too!” isn’t leadership — it’s plagiarism.

Why don’t we have psychological testing for these candidates? Bush’s inability to admit being wrong or to listen to the views of others made him a bad president for the last 8 years. I like Obama for his temperament – he is thoughtful and he has consideration for the views of others – something we need to return to in our attempt to repair damaged foreign relations and the mend the partisan rancor in Washington. Do we really think Palin, who has a history of being more single minded than Bush, is a suitable choice for this point in time? Now I would like to see a woman in the White House as much as the next guy (excuse the pun!), but we need to maintain some sanity and some dignity. We do not know what Palin will bring to the White House because she has not been vetted by the American people – and John McCain made his surprise choice of an untested politican at a point in the process where he’s hoping folks will not get to know her weaknesses before its time to cast our votes. Let’s not fall for the smoke and mirrors. On the record, McCain does not have the policies or the vision to take us where we need to go. Give Obama-Biden their chance to lead and they will not dissappoint. There is a lot more new thinking and wise vision on the Obama side – we really do need change – so let’s keep our eyes on the ball.

Hey Kat09tales, “psychological testing for these candidates?” if we did then Obama would have dropped out of the race 19 months ago. Obama has not been vetted! His associations with extremely bad people are going to destroy him in the fall.

Norman,
You know what is funny about the Rudy quote you posted against Obama ‘he’s never run a city, or a state or a military unit or anything.’ When I heard it, I thought, well neither has John McCain! The issue is leadership, vision and judgement.
Obama has been grooming himself with the education and experience he needs to make the lives of Americans better.
John McCain has been available to the American public as a choice for years, but he has never led on behalf of those people. He’s voted against important legislation on many occasions, because he wants to see greater fiscal responsibility and smaller government – but he admits economics is not his strong suit. So how do we vote into office a guy who wants to help, but hasn’t a clue how to help; Obama has been seeking out the advice of America’s best and brightest for years – cultivating a new team of American thinkings to face the challenges of the new era. He’s also really good at building concensus and at leading people; McCain continually describes his view of America as some patriotic ideal that he keeps telling us he loves so much because he sacrificed for her and learned what it means to love country. Well that is all well and good, but that does not help address the rather unique set of challenges Americans face today. More of the same is what we would get and frankly, we cannot afford.
For people to say they want Sarah Palin in the White House, in either position, after a couple of appearances on the national stage, is just as insane as McCain picking her. It is a gimick that does not put America first – and by the way, creationism is a belief, not science and it was beating down by the judicial system each time it has gone to court fighting to be taught in our classrooms as equal to the proven objective science of evolution.
Sarah Palin is another extreme right winger who does not have the intellect or the temperament to bring anything but further polarization to our standing in the world. The choice is too important this time – America needs to clue to the fact that reason is the only hope for our future. We were manipulated under the Bush/Cheney years and the Republicans are controlling McCain already – Rove is working for him/he couldn’t pick his own running mate. McCain can’t fight old politics from his vantage point.
Barack-Biden can because Barack has the strength and integrity to take on that fight. He knows what he thinks because he has spent his entire adult life honing it. McCain is what he is and we know what he is, he isn’t going to change. So how can he bring change to a system he did not have sufficient leadership to change from within. At least Barack passed sweeping ethics reform as soon as he got to Washingon, making the money trail transparent to the public via a website on campaign financing.

Obama is starting to suffer from “media-fatigue” … much of what we saw since Feb 2008 was a clear case of media-circus around Obama at the expense of McCain (and too certain extent Hillary).
Now that McCain has stolen the headlines by naming Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate. Palin, with a tumultuous political and personal history, dominated the news, overshadowing efforts by Obama and his running mate, Biden, to tell their own political story.
This is definitely is reflected in the national polling numbers and could give McCain a lead when the next round of polls comes out next week. In swing state Ohio, the projection is for McCain to take the lead over Obama. Now they are tied at 42%.

Posted by: McCain/Palin 2008 | September 7, 2008, 8:53 am 8:53 am

Hey Kat09tales, look at the polls the American people are making a choice.
Obama’s platform is built on a thin tissue of deceit and the American people are seeing that now.
McCain earns the vote from 89% of Republicans while Obama is supported by 81% of Democrats. McCain also manages to attract 15% of Democrats while Obama gets 9% of the Republican vote. (Rasmussen, 2008)

Obammy is brilliant because he has been grooming himself to be president but McCain knows nothing about the economy because he has been in Washington and voted instead of saying “PRESENT”??????
Sarah Palin’s pick by McCain is “insane” but Obammy’s pick of old Joe is “real change”?????
You said “Give Obamma and Biden the chance to lead and they won’t disappoint”. You know this to be a fact?
Obamma got his experience sitting in Rev. Wright’s church for 20 years. He got his knowledge from a terrorist.
Sarah Palin is the only real CHANGE person in this whole campaign.

As the mayor of Wasilla, Gov. Palin hired a lobbyist and traveled to Washington annually to support earmarks for the tow totaling $27 million. In her two years as governor, Alaska has requested nearly $750 million in special federal spending, by far the largest per-capita request in the nation. While Palin notes she rejected plans to build a $398 million bridge from Ketchikan to an island with 50 residents and an airport, the opposition came only after the plan was ridiculed nationally as a “bridge to nowhere. Plus, she did not return the money to the federal goverment.
So much for protecting the the taxpayers by vetoing wasteful spending and championing reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress.
McCain and Palin do nothing but lie and make up stuff to advance their political ambition.

I recorded This Week with George Stephanopolus the Sunday 9/7/08 at 8AM Pacific Time along with Meet The Press on DirectTV. I have watched both programs for many years.I then turned to the recording of This Week. The first 37 minutes were blacked out. I called Direct TV and they told me that channel 7ABC had technical difficulties during this time. It seems very strange that his interview with Barack Obama was blacked out during this time! Conspiracy or technical difficulties? I would like to know why this happened.
Fortunately, we could find out on the internet what was said in the interview, the very important responses to the blatant Republican attacks against Obama. But what about the viewers that don’t have access to the internet. This interview is so important and should be shown again to be fair.
Can you investigate if this was just local or not?

Dear concerned citizens of America and mass media of the U.S.A.{ Politics First and Country Last}
As a concerned disabled American Veteran and American citizen, I consider it my duty and responsibility to address the following critical issues facing the voters of our Greatgrand nation, the United States of America [USA].
The citizens of the United States of America [USA] have the ultimate power and responsibility to elect the Right Ticket with the right joint “temperament, judgement, and statesmanship” to lead our nation as well as change our nation’s present and future moral, political, economic, educational, health care, energy, military, and foundational soul.
6. Does each ticket possess enough joint foreign policy experience and exposure based on “American Values, Virtues, Vastness, and strong soul”?
7. Are their campaign talk, slogans, ads, plans, and programs based on facts and are they free of fear, fiction, frivolous labels, unfair attacks, negativity, and impulsivity? [Danger to country and countries mission[s].
8. Does the ticket keep country or politics first? [McCain stole Obama's change and is running with it.]
As a Independent registered voter I have decided to vote for the Obama-Biden ticket. I am sure they will protect our national security, strengths, stamina and soul as well as rebuild our nation from the bottom up in all areas of need. The OBAMA-BIDEN ticket will restore our global standing with the use of maximum, firm international diplomacy and minimal force if and when indicated.
Yours sincerely,
COL. A.M. Khajawall [Ret] MD., Forensic psychiatrist, Colonel, US-AR / MC Combat Stress Control[Ret], Disabled American Veteran and Iraq Freedom team.
PS: This nation will not buy into the kitchen sink strategy. We are getting deeper into internal and external holes through these attacks and the world is laughing at us as they enjoy our partisan Pitt Bull wounds inflicted on hard working Americans. So called Maverick McCain has put polities First and Country Last by impulsively choosing Saran Palin as his running mate. A heart beat away form presidency. His this act further confirms that he is impulsive, stubborn, temperamental, and self aggrandizement. Bad for America and all around.

Thousands of jobs have been lost in recent years, and thousands more are falling away, I have been in Michigan watching the auto industry for these past 8 years.
Health care costs are rising, I see people struggling with this- as a full time nurse working in a health care setting.
People are losing their homes to foreclosure, it’s all around us in every state, and our economy is suffering beyond measure.
The educational system is crying out for help and every promise by this last administration to help fix this has been broken.
Autistic children are being born every minute- why? What is going on and why has nobody yet offered a valid reason?
Americans have been at war for the majority of this republican administration, a great portion of thinking American people feel lied to, ripped off, powerless and non trusting toward our government.
Many of us still remember the sense of elections being stolen and have no reason to believe that anyone in our current administration will make any notable changes. We are watching politicians sell their soul for a vote, and put themselves above the good of our country.
Our country is divided- made up of good people, but divided.
Our global environment is falling apart, we are not innocent in having a part to do with this, and good people who have dedicated their entire lives to studying why and figuring out solutions- they are being ignored and belittled by a government who would rather spend billions and billions and billions on war.
I see a government who has based its’ success on the ignorance of it’s sheeple.
I see a government run by power hungry rich people who haven’t spent our tax money on the improvement of infrastructure, keeping jobs here in America or improving our health care crisis- not to mention this sudden influx of special needs children.
Washington Post and Huffington Post both report that Palin cut funding to teens. This is an issue many care about and if it is untrue then so be it, that part is a relief I guess . . . though it still does not take away from other significant red flags-
She did cut the special needs education programs in her state by 60 %, and now she is standing on a platform as a special needs advocate. She did leave her small town 22 million dollars in debt and God help us if her economic skills translate to a broader scale in America.
She has petitioned to take polar bears off the endangered species list, her church speech transcripts show her statements of belief that Iraq war is God directed and if we pray hard enough we can get this pipe built through Alaska and gays will convert, and she advocates teaching creationism rather than evolution in schools- and no sex education w/ abstinance rather than protection.
If we thought White Water was bad . . . what IF this bi partisan 12-0 vote for an ethics probe regarding abuse of power as a leader- actually has substance and she’s suddenly our national leader? I can’t stomache anymore ethics issues with leaders, can you?
We brush off that her announcement of selling a plane on ebay was not technically a sale on ebay but really a sale of significant loss to her state and not on ebay after all- or that she keeps important secrets and can lie so well already.
We brush off that she didn’t address the fact that after lobbying for money for the bridge to nowhere and taking a significant amount of money from the government to fund this, she decided against it and then didn’t give back the money still leaving a huge debt to the people.
It’s okay that she may not be living up to certain family values that maternal instinct would have our insides screaming about in any other situation -with a friend or family member. We seem to be so caught up in women lib issues that we can’t see anything straight-
I want to hear her actually speak off the cuff.
I want to listen to her in actual interviews outside of a written speech- without stabbing one liners- And despite eye rolling reactions when I mention this- her speech really WAS written by the Bush speech writer and from a platform of change, this both scares and offends.
Our lives, our America, our country- WE are at stake here, and yet she is not being allowed to grant interviews?
It’s not about no permission for a Heart song- or her unwed teenage daughter- it’s about how all these little things add up to reflect the character of a ticket, of AMERICA of our reputation in this world.
After reading the Tucker interview I lose sleep over what might happen to our country if we once again choose to vote for this flavor of republican ticket.
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/05/brown.bounds/index.html
Our government and this administration let us down in ways difficult to forgive, and there are so many issues at stake besides high gas prices. This ticket supports more war- and though words come out of mouths screaming ‘change!’ – I heard no ridicule from the RNC of the very administration which supposedly provoked such a motivation for change recently.
I am mortified by the death and destruction of these past 8 years and want solutions, real ones that involve not killing. I believe in keeping our guns, but I’m not turned on by a VP with a gun in all these photos.
Now that we are in such a world crisis- at least humor us with a ticket that is strong on foreign policy and hope for PEACE, one that doesn’t leave us fearful that the one person on the ticket- a decorated war hero who has some experience – is older than the comfort zone for a president while the other didn’t get her first passport until 2007 and has no record of any foreign policy decision in her 20 months of governing . . . as the national guard is controlled by the pentagon.
I’m saddened by what I’ve seen in the Vet hospitals and in mental health care facilities concerning care of our vets.
I’m scared that both of these people are not strong on economy and we are in a crisis- we need some educated boring people to just help us out right now- no more drama, mud and crisis please.
I see no solutions being discussed by the RNC ticket for these issues. I search for hope in news articles and in voting records, biographies, autobiographies and in debate and I find none.
Thankfully folks like Happy and others who see things on the opposite side of this, do correct the limited facts reported by media sources from time to time- but this still doesn’t fix it for me.
This ticket has me losing sleep . . . I’m shocked and afraid that I heard nothing in any of the RNC speeches I could wrap my trust around about the future empowerment of this country.
I watched it, like many other open minded independents and Democrats did, searching for a sense of security in case Obama doesn’t make it.
Where were the specifics about health care and educational improvement, poverty and PEACE? Where was the encouragement and thanks to American people for community service-we were going through a hurricane there were people out there giving and helping- and listening to that convention . . . are these politicians so very out of touch?
Where was talk of educational values, economic growth, and environmental protection?
Time and again we as advisors advocate for ‘what you focus on expands’ the democratic speakers in my eyes, were so positive and uplifting- I felt real hope for this earth and our American future.
The RNC used fear, the entire platform running seemingly on war-
Yes McCain is a good man and a war hero like many other war heroes . . . honorable, yes, though I don’t sense he is connected with America in ways that will assist us to climb out of this black hole we are in.
This ticket scares me.
In a McCain/Palin world I see women’s control of their bodies taken away and our children drafted to wars.
Finally I must say that to distract us from the real issues – this smoke and mirror tactic of gender- being untouchable, feeling attacked regarding interviews- the greatest insult of this ticket-
. . . and the critism of Obama not being experienced and then choosing someone less experienced for VP to publically compare him to . . . these Moses, Britney/Hilton ads . . . I pray that our America will not go blindly toward more self destruction and suffering.
Oil isn’t worth sacrificing all these other pressing issues for- and there are so many other ways to live besides dependence on fossil fuel without a plan.
Research and gradual moving away from this dependence . . . taking about ten years which is very reasonable per Obama . . . is one answer that will bring a lasting solution.
Speaking of Obama, to his credit he has run a beautiful campaign managing an enormous staff and amounts of money. He has raised this money with no lobby donations. He has been deeply scrutinized and handled the ridicule and constant research of his life with grace, I sense compassion for people from him, he continues to grant interviews- even to those who hate him, and he offers real solutions with many details- to my satisfaction.
His deep respect of, and brilliance in community organization, has brought him this far.
He and his wife have a history of community organizing and enough global awareness and foreign policy experience to make decent decisions in times of crisis. I see real partnership and joy in his family life. I’ve had time to think about, check out and debate the facts about him, we’ve put his feet to the fire and he’s still standing.
He has proven his abilities and has been researched, interviewed and judged for months by us, and passed the American test- enough to keep a solid base of supporters and become the nominee for president.
It’s not about ridicule, put downs, amniotic fluid, cultural bias- it’s not even about evil or good, it’s about who is most qualified to run our country at this particular time.
It’s about the suprise on America of a VP who comes with suspicious scandal and we are not given enough time to get to know her- which reflects on EVERYTHING about how decisions would be made and our country would be run if we elect this ticket to leadership.
Right now the most politically incorrect thing to do is NOT speak up- and I pray all Americans put their neutral caps on and really do some research- beyond the media- beyond what their family voting tradition is, beyond their prejudices about gender or race . . . just feel the pulse of this country and examine both tickets until beyond a doubt and without prejudice, a clear headed decision is made.
To boring Biden’s credit, he wrote the Violence Against Women Act and constantly is tweaking it as real life goes along. He is a pro life person who doesn’t believe in pushing this issue legally. He knows his way around Washington and contrary to the popular CHANGE slogan, that is a very good thing- he’s a strong and experienced decent man, one who will help fix this country’s desperate problems-.
The ISSUES, political agenda, and moral character . . . over looked due to smoke and mirror tactics- on both sides.
I know that my essay here will not be popular- but I’m not being a very well minded woman right now, am I?
Forgive me these honest, bold statements of my thoughts and feelings, I am a woman -and you know what they say- the Goddess energy is emerging these days . . .

The attention on Palin is really a response to a lot of the hypocrisy that has characterized evangelicals over the last 10 years. The outcry against Palin though unwarranted sometimes, would never have been if evangelical Christians and republicans had not spent the last 20 years accusing everyone else.
I believe liberals and independent would not be pointing fingers at everything about Palin if Christian conservatives have not been judging everyone else in the name of family values.
I have been an evangelical Christian for over 20 years and I am still an evangelical Christian yet I am not supporting the Republican Party. Palin and Mccain do not exemplify true Christ values in anyway to me neither do the Democratic Party.
Hence my voting should be based on who has better plans for the economy and for
reducing inequality, poverty and a broken health care system and not on lies on family values and the like.
After being fooled by Bush that was it for me. The truth is that the Republican Party uses
Christians each time elections are near and do nothing for their course afterward. The last eight years are just one example. To be really honest even though most people do not want to admit it, the real issue with Obama is not experience as is being trumped but the fact that he is biracial (in the U.S. refereed to as Black). If Obama’s message came from a White man with the economy being in such a mess partly because of poor governance of a republican, I am almost certain this election would not be this close. Some people simply cannot get beyond race. Unfortunately those with less education and ironically many from the republican party even many Christians racially discriminate
Unfortunately evangelical Christians, who are supposed to be carrying the message of the gospel and should know better, discriminate racially. Christian America, it is time to live the gospel you preach and get rid of hidden racism.

The reason many Democrats will not vote for Obama is because they are embarrassed of him, his life, his unfair tactics and his beliefs. And they still don’t know all about him.
1. They don’t want a candidate that has been in a twenty year relationship with Reverend Wright and the Trinity United Church of Christ.
2. They don’t’ want a candidate that has a twenty year relationship with Father Pflaeger and refers to him as his compass in life
3. They don’t want a candidate that went to a church that supports Louis Farrakhan, an anti Semitic racist, that has led a rally of 20,000 Nation of Islam members to support Obama in Chicago
4. They don’t want to defend Black Liberation theology.
5. They don’t want a candidate that lies about his relationship with Tony Rezko, the Syrian Criminal that sold his property to Obama and supported his campaign.
6. They don’t want a candidate that could work with a domestic terrorist, William Ayers.
7. They don’t want a candidate that Hamas supports.
8. They don’t want a candidate that Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam support
9. They don’t want a candidate that has a wife that has just now realized she was proud of our country.
10. They don’t want a candidate that denies Florida and Michigan their voices
11. They don’t want a candidate that mentions 57 states in his speeches. 50 states in the USA and 57 states in the Nation of Islam (IOC website)
12. They don’t want a candidate that fights unfair and hyjacks Michigan delegate votes from his opponent.
13. They don’t want a candidate that is inexperienced, especially dealing with military issues.
14. They don’t want a candidate that considers it a loss to not to be able to attend his anti American, racist Church.
15. They don’t want a candidate that has a “non practicing” Muslim father, but avoids the entire discussion of his father.
16. They don’t’ want a candidate that won’t debate
17. They don’t’ want a candidate that misleads the youth with an ‘Obama girl and her behind in their face”
18. They don’t want a candidate that says he’s an African American and missed the MLK Remembrance Day and the Louisiana Black Caucus meeting
19. They don’t want a candidate that enjoys laughing at sexism.
20. They don’t want a candidate that switches his position on gun control, FISA, the war in Iraq and abortion issues.
21. They don’t want a candidate that showcases his daughters on TV shows.
22. They don’t’ want a candidate that has poor judgment..
23. They don’t’ want a candidate named; Barack Hussein Obama
24. He is embarrassing.
25. He scares them to death.

Iran’s leadership has expressed “great pleasure” at the prospect of a Barack Obama victory in November, according to Menashe Amir, the Iranian-born head of Radio Israel’s Persian language service.
Iranian religious leaders said if Obama will enter the White House, then Islam will conquer the heart of the American nation
The Iranian leadership likes Obama “mainly because he is a Muslim,” according to Amir. His first name, Barack, comes from “al-baraq,” which is the name of the horse that Muslims believe Muhammad rode on his way to paradise. If he wins the election, Muslims will be very proud of such a conquest, such a win.

Obama is crying about McCain & Palin using the word ‘Change” in their campaigns … but, in the real world, McCain & Palin have actually changed the government … have fought political special interest groups, and brought reform … have successfully worked across the aisle … have brought us important new legislation … while Obama hasn’t accomplished anything … and has only used the term ‘Change’ as a campaign slogan.

Change.. ?
If you take office after the most corrupt governor in the nation of Alaska, anyone.. anyone.. will be a “change and reformer”. It’s like any color is lighter when compared to black. They’ll advertise that– that’s a given. The question is how much change and reform- the %? Putting items on sale for ebay at a cost-loss does not cut it. I just don’t see strong evidence for any change– just lots of energy and excitement- that’s it.
I would have liked to see Palin go against McCain himself in the speech.. but it was all roses about him. No indication whatsover- that she may give him a run for his money on the issues or policies at all.
A STATUS QUO BY ANY OTHER NAME IS STILL THE SAME.

Palin is a “smiling good” person. She’ll bake cookies for you.. and put white-house items on ebay for sale and get angry at big-boys… all while combing her kid’s hair and shooting the moose for lunch. She’s our friend!
A change and a reformer?!!! Please..!!
She is a pure product culture of her Alaskan lifestyle. She runs marathons cause her parents ran.. she hunts cause that’s what they did… probably never questioned her religion… “that’s just the way it is mentality”.
Seems she could not see beyond her world to see the unity in all. As a vegan and an animal-rights advocate, I am still appalled at people who hunt while flying and wear fur coats in this day and age. Appalled !!!
Palin needs some true change and reformation herself. No joke.
Pro-life not just for humans species but all species of our beautiful America and Earth!!
TRUE CHANGE IS UNITY.
