Stephanopoulos: Obama: Government Intervention ‘Necessary’ For Fannie, Freddie

ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos reports: Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama said Saturday he is inclined to support a government plan to place mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac under federal control.    "Intervention was necessary," said Obama in an exclusive interview that will air tomorrow on "This Week with George Stephanopoulos." "I’m inclined to support some form of intervention to prevent a long-term, much bigger crisis." Obama said he was briefed on the plan by Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson in a Friday night phone call.  According to published reports, Treasury officials yesterday told executives that the government would temporarily take control of the mortgage companies and inject them with capital, allowing the companies to continue playing a crucial role in the housing market, where they currently are responsible for nearly 70 percent of new loans. But Obama said he’ll only support such a government takeover if shareholders and executives of Fannie and Freddie don’t profit from it. "We are not bailing out shareholders and investors and management," Obama said. "They were making a lot of money because of the lack of regulation. All those profits were private. We don’t want to make all those losses suddenly public and they get away without taking a haircut." Obama said the Treasury plan, which could be announced later this weekend, should be only the first step in reforming the housing markets. "We’re going to have to take a look at how we regulate the financial markets and mortgage markets going forward," he said. (Photo by Tom Strickland)

So let me get this straight:
McCain has been in Washington for decades but he’s an agent of change. Biden has been there for just as long, but he can’t possibly do it.
Palin has more experience than everyone as Governor of the 47th least populous state in America
Palin can bring real change with her extreme right-wing views but Obama cannot. She gives good speeches and should be praised but when Obama does it it’s just a cloud of rhetoric.
My head hurts from all the spinning. It’s like the Republicans are trying to mirror the Obama campaign completely.

This is why Obama shuold be president – we need these companies to stay afloat to keep the housing market going – if they crash – so will 70% of homeowners. I also like that fact he doesn’t want to bail out the fat-cats neither.

The McCain campaign is bringing two Bush administration communication veterans on board to beef up the team that will travel with Palin.
Tucker Eskew has joined the Palin team as a senior advisor, and campaign officials said he will play a role akin to chief of staff. Eskew served as director of the White House Office of Global Communications and as director of media affairs.
The campaign also confirmed Friday that Tracey Schmitt is joining as deputy communications director and national spokesperson. She is a former Republican National Committee spokesperson.

Bill Clinton was governor for 12 years. He balanced budgets. He knew the economy.
Obama is terrible at math. He is a lawyer.
Obama has no business skills. Obama is illiterate at math.

Reformer Palin accepted money from indited Alaskan oil
After Palin and Allen met, VECO contributed $5,000 to the Palin campaign for lieutenant governor. The contribution came in ten $500 donations made over a two-day period in late December in Allen’s name and those of his executives and a couple of their spouses. The donations added up to 10 percent of all the money Palin raised for her 2002 campaign

I’m not a big Obama fan but I think he does understand economics. I’m from NH and during the primaries I heard Obama talk about economic issues at length. He seems to have a good grasp of how markets work and what needs to be done to get us back on track. McCain appears to have no understanding whatsoever of basic economics. It’s a little scary.

Dodd remained upbeat about Fannie and Freddie’s futures.
“Fannie and Freddie are very solid institutions,” Dodd said. “They have more than adequate capital based on federal law. They have access to the capital markets. Obviously the fear that has been generated over the last number of days is not helping matters. And I hope the actions taken over the end of the weekend by the Treasury and the Fed are going to calm those concerns and we get back to Fannie and Freddie doing the incredibly important job of providing liquidity in a very, very, very bad market”
Did George ask Obama about his adviser and supportr Dodd who chairs the banking commission and said everything would be fine?

Two years ago, I received a plea from Barack Obama to help support Todd Stroger for Cook County President. Previously Todd’s Dad had run Cook County nearly bankrupt and Todd is out to finish the job. Because of dumb managment skills, incompetence and out and out corruption, Cook County has the highest sales tax in the country. Yes the highest at over 10%. What spewed out of his mouth is Intro to Finance, sophmore level undergrad level…that anyone with any background in this stuff knows.
Common equity holders bear the upside and greatest risk…and they’ll be mostly wiped out under this. Sub debt and preferred were left clean only to prevent the multiplier effect of the catastrophe since those shares are held by other banks.

Don’t you republican trolls get tired of telling lies?
DNC spokeswoman Karen Finney issues a statement: “American flags were proudly waved by the 75,000 people who joined Barack Obama at the Democratic Convention. John McCain should applaud that, but instead his supporters wrongfully took leftover bundles of our flags from the stadium to play a cheap political stunt calling into question our patriotism. On the same day he agrees to join Barack Obama at Ground Zero on September 11, John McCain attacks the patriotism of Obama supporters who so proudly waved the American flag at our historic event in Denver just days ago.”
Apparently lying is in the republican DNA.

‘But Obama said he’ll only support such a government takeover if shareholders and executives of Fannie and Freddie don’t profit from it.”‘
What a bold face lie, Let explore. The DNC argument against Sen.McCain and his public financing is that since Sen.McCain had a appearance of a federal guarantee that in itself adjusted the risk for him receiving a loan so it was profit. Well Hell so is what Sen.Obama is proposing, Next since the inception of those loans that the Government will assume the stock has reflected the rise in profits and has rose accordingly. How in the Hell is Sen.Obama going to live up to that statement???

When you subsidize failure, you end up with moral hazard. If you don’t know what moral hazard is, look it up.
We are headed in a terrible direction in this country if we allow our elected leaders to continue to destroy our future by all these bailouts. It’s going to ruin the US dollar and destroy our courage to let failure be written off as failure instead of propping up the people who fail.
Guess what happens to the people who failed in leading these institutions? Nothing. They move on to a new job. The taxpayer is left holding the bill.

If you asked McCain about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac he would respond. “Who?”
Just frop a bomb on them right McCain. That seems to fix anything. Remember when McCain was asked about the economy he stated that wasnt his strong point. If you cant shoot it, invade it, or scare it with threats, then McCain would be lost.

Wasn’t it the democratic led Congress who wanted “fair housing” for all and advanced the “right” of those who had poor credit to own homes? Great. Now we have to foot the bill for welfare AND for them to keep houses they can’t afford.
Hmmm. I have some credit card debt. Can I keep my credit cards, keep spending irresponsibly and have the US taxpayers bail me out when I don’t feel like paying or taking responsiblity for my own life?
As i understand it, FM, FMC are government companies run by private citizens? HOW messed up is that. Now, they’re going to be a conservatorsthe business? The government overseeing this? LOL! The same government who has bankrupted so many of their programs? They want MORE?
Sure, let’s go for it Obama! We’ll give you our health care, our gas/oil business, day care and education for EVERYONE! They have such a great track record.
Gee, all we have to do in turn, is hand over your paycheck to the government.

–”We’re going to have to take a look at how we regulate the financial markets and mortgage markets going forward,” he said.–
This is a sentence I agree with, and the ONLY thing the government should do in this situation. Re-regulate for the future. I pay my bills, have a cheap mortgage and struggle to stay out of debt. Why should my tax dollars go to bail out others that by and large didn’t make good decisions? I know there are exceptions, but for the most part, these folks just didn’t want to live within their means. Why should the government reward bad behavior?

The left party are liars and crooks!! They have made the American people believe that the President is a bad person. The President is a true American and loves his country. He has a different vision than the left has, so he gets downplayed so you vote against his party. HELLO!! WAKE UP AMERICA, DONT GET BRAINWASHED. This is called false propaganda. If anybody understands politics, then you will know this. The left is only doing this to get your vote. That is why they use the biased media to help them to get your vote.
Same thing with the oil companies. They make you believe that oil companies are bad, again a way to get your vote. Oil companies have less profit margins than most companies, for example Microsoft’s profit margin is twice as much as the oil companies. Just like any other business, there are cycles, in the 90′s it was the tech sector, and this decade it has been the commodities turn, so yes the oil companies have higher profits. This is called capitalism. The left hates globalization.
Oil companies are good because they provide everything we have and use in our lives. They create globalization!!!!Now, if any oil companies are performing illegal and fraudulent activities, then they should be punished, just like the Enron executives.
Another thing that the left does so to get your vote is that they always say that the rich are getting richer. If you think about it this is a poor man’s way of thinking, and that is what they teach the American people. First of all, the rich will always be rich, under every party, unless they screw up personally. We should be happy of the wealth of this country and that it is getting wealthier.
Second of all, every move that rich people make, they create jobs. When they buy mansions, they create jobs, when they buy yahts & planes, they create jobs, when they start a business, they create jobs, when they make investments, they create jobs, when they buy real estate, they create jobs, and so on. Rich people don’t hide their money under their pillow, they put it to work, thus CREATING JOBS!!!
Sadly, many people have been brainwashed, about everything, the economy, the war, our energy sources, global warming (this summer was not even warm, people please understand that most climate change is a result of the orbital eccentricities of Earth and variations in the sun’s output!!!!)…..
For example, Al Gore has already made 100 million dollars from his “global warming policies”. That is a lot of money. So, what was the result, did he save us from global warming, or he just took OUR MONEY??????
I do understand we have to protect our environment, but to come up with some BS theory and make speeches collecting our money. CROOKS!!!!!!

What is this world coming to when people turn their noise up at intelligence?
Have you gotten so use to Bush’s ignorance that now you are threatened when you see someone who is intellectual and experience?
Our problems are too serious to play partisan politics this time. Character assignation doesn’t change the facts and the facts are; McBush has not come up with one original idea of his own. If selecting Palin who character and credentials is suspect) as his running mate is any indication of how he will govern, we are in serious trouble. If you say you love this country and you seriously want our economic, medical and standing around the world to change, the clear choice is Obama and Biden.

‘Present’ and ‘Rezko’. My neighbor and I disagree, in a friendly fashion, about the election. He brought up the ‘present’ votes cast by Obama while he was a state senator in Illinois. When I asked him how often Obama voted present, his response was ‘most of the time’. First of all, ‘present’ is a vote used in Illinois for reasons, often a tactic or part of a strategy which prevents a bill from reaching a full vote. Obama voted on some 4,000 bills in his term, 3% ‘present’, most of those with cause. He voted ‘present’ alone on 7/10th’s of a percent of those bills and gave his reasons. Now McCain on the other hand didn’t bother to vote on most of the defense funding-military-veterans benefits bills in the past year, or voted against benefits. Is Obama really on the wrong side of the issues? I think the ‘present’ vote case against him is worth about .5 mils. As for Rezko, he supported and donated money to candidates on both side of the aisles. Obama has already admitted his real estate deal involving Rezko’s wife was stupid. I wonder how many of the Republicans who dealt with Rezko have admitted anything??

We are funding the middle east and terrorism due to the pro-war stance of the Bush/McCain administrations. Iraq has an $80 million surplus while the USA goes into deficit. The American dollar is weak which is increasing inflation making our economy sink. Bush/McCain’s stance on free trade is causing more and more jobs to move overseas. Reeaganomics=Bushonomnics-McCaintonimics=RUIN for the US economy!
America MUST HAVE healthy and vibrant businesses and, healthy and vibrant working class.
Only, businesses should be given CREDIT and the Working Families given CASH!
This setup will FORCE business to provide goods and services, in order to seduce the cash away from the Working Families.
Allowing the nation’s wealth to those addicted to wealth, will only see them gambling away the nation’s wealth in the Interest Rates markets, and thus destroying the US economy.
Destruction of US economy happened under Reagan.
It is happening under bush.
And the destruction WILL happen under McCaint!
Reeaganomics=Bushonomnics-McCaintonimics=RUIN for the US economy!

Republicans are such self righteous hypocrites it’s just so amazing. All they have to stand on is 911 and the war in Iraq. The state of the economy means nothing to them. Unemployment at 6.1 pct. Millions losing their houses to foreclosure. Jobs being sent to China and India. Yet all we hear is the same drumbeat. They are masters of using fear to scare the American people. What makes them think that because you serve in the military you are qualified to be commander in chief. Let’s see was Regan in the military, was Tatcher or Blair of Britan, Sarcozy of France. Republicans see things only in black and white. There is no middle ground, no room for compromise. It’s a party that is only concerned with WAR. God help America if McCain who is one heart beat away from death’s door gets elected. We will be fighting another war with Iran. Had the situation been reversed and Obama had a young daughter who became pregnant out of wedlock Republicans would have had a field day.McCain made no mention about turning this country around, no mention of jobs, no mention of health care, no mention of education, no mention of assistance to the thousands of veterans who are returning from war and can’t get help from their own government. They need to check their fact before they spread lies to the American people. Obama, has worked with Richard Lugar and other Republicans to get bills passed. If Americans like the current state that America is in then by all means vote for McCain.

Would would ofcourse be easier for me to tell you why I wont vote for McCain and I did vote for Bush twice. So lets start there. My views have changed. I will not support a party that is against pro choice. My sister was raped two years ago and had that choice. I will not support a canidate that supported Bush on 90 percent of his policies. Yes I know, its a Dem run congress and Im not to happy with them either. I feel like for the last 2 years they have messed with peoples money, hust so those same people would blame the republicans. On the other hand the Rep held congress for 5 of those eight years and the House for 6 years. McCains doent address anything except national security, which is important but not everything. I feel the GOP is power hungry and loves big business, but forgets small business.
I also feel, atleast with bush, that he has been dishonest with American. Border Security, economy-90 percent we create our own, outsourceing jobs, misleading and not listening to the American public, etc… Now for Barack Obama, Resume 1983-1988 Director of the Developing Communities Project (DCP), a church-based community organization originally comprising eight Catholic parishes on Chicago’s South Side.1992 Led Chicago’s Project Vote! push. This effort resulted in a record number of voter registrations, over 600,000 in Chicago. 1)Teaching 1993-2004 Visiting Law and Government Fellow, then Senior Lecturer, in Constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School.Law Practice 1993-2002 Worked as an associate attorney with Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland.Illinois Senate 1996-2004 Chairman, Health and Human Services Committee, Illinois Senate***United States Senate 2004-present. When he said” Above my paygrade”, to me, he was honest and humble. To admit he is not God and doesnt know that answer is more honest than shooting out one word preconceived, rehearsed answers. He wasnt at that forum to campaine, but to let the people across this nation get to know him. McCain is old scholl politics and cant help from campaining all the time. Also in the same time frame. Obama voted on Vet. affairs twice as many times as McCain, if McCain even showed up. The party that says Obama”The Messiah” brings in a unknow canidate that they worship like she is the savior of the Rep party. Also I am a big animal lover and Palin likes to kill for sport. Ill even throw in the race card and am 50 year old white man. The reason Obama isnt smashing McCain right now after 8 years of Bush is: Most will vote due to core beliefs and along party lines. And yeas race. Sad but true. You asked. Hope i didnt misspell to many words.

It was wrong for Bush and his Goldman-Sachs Treasury Secretary to bail out his old Harvard and country club buddies. It is just as wrong for Obama to do it.
I realize that these banks are all taking a back because they took on mortgages for which people just were not qualified, under pressure from a democrat majority in Congress. It was wrong for them to “go along to get along” and it is even more wrong for the middle class to foot the bill.
These two in particular are quasi-government agencies, protected from competition. Let them go under.

One thing for sure with McCain/Palin combination is America will continue with their unfavourable standing in the world.
Obama/Biden though not in office yet have began the rebuilding by all evidence in the world. America will again lead with with respect when Obama/Biden are selected.
God bless America with Obama/Biden

If she is not ready to be a VP candidate on day 1

Palin Rocks. She’s going to get drilling up and running in Alaska. Who cares about some wildlife refuge that nobody visits. Animals don’t fill my SUV’s tank. Speaking of animals, she’ll stop wasting money protecting so-called endangered species. Heck, they’re almost gone already and we get along fine. She’ll make sure that the federal government makes those nutty liberal women do the right thing with their bodies. She’ll get rid of that crazy evolution science thing and get creationism back in the schools where it belongs. She’ll get that federal law passed requiring everyone to carry a concealed gun for protection. About time. Guided by the Lord she’ll lead is into glory by taking us into righteous wars against extremists. She’ll protect us from the Hom*s in Hollywood. Thank God for Sarah Palin. And, yes, this is sarcastic, but scarily not at all far from the truth.

I am a college senior who is so disgusted with all the double standard involved with the “vetting” of candidates. If the liberal media is so concerned about the vetting of Governor Sarah Palin, they should also be concerned about the democratic nominee as well. As someone else said above, I am also scared of this Obama guy. I will be voting for the first time in November and I feel so sad that I do not have a trustworthy democratic presidential candidate to vote for. I really liked Hillary Clinton and I feel that she and her supporters were cheated from securing her nomination.
After eight terrible years of Bush/Cheney, I believe USA deserves a good, patriotic, and experienced president with a solid Christian and American values. Barack Obama (with his muslim middle name) will never be the right man. Obama (not to mention his anti-American angry wife and hateful pastor) has too much garbbage and too many questionable associations that should disqualify him from seeking the highest office of the land. I am so shocked to see the democratic party and its top leaders working hard to secure his nomination. I know they will pay a heavy price on election day in November.
Since Barack Obama has miserably failed to convice me about:
1. his American origin and values
2. his Christian faith
3. his close association with people like Rezko, Ayers, and Rev. Wright
4. his alcohol and drug use
5. his shady dealings in Chicago politics
6. his philosophy about money and politics, etc.
I will never vote for him. I am an independent woman who strongly believes in America and her values and I know my country deserves a much better person for president than the shallow and opportunist Barack Hussein Obama.
I will be voting for the McCain/Palin ticket in Novemeber.

Unfortunately. you fail to understand that if you let those two agencies “go under”, so will the whole mortgage market and many more banks, leading to a real financial melt-down. Then there will be virtually no mortgage money available for people who want to buy homes, and more failed banks means no money for businesses to borrow. Your idea would result in problems as great as those of the late 1920s, leading to the Great Depression.

Using Bill Clinton’s Words:
“For example, you’re a voter, and you have Candidate X and Candidate Y,” Clinton riffed. “Candidate X agrees with you on everything. But you don’t think that person can deliver on anything. Candidate Y disagrees with you on half the issues, but you believe that, on the other half, the candidate will be able to deliver. For whom will you vote?”

Between Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin: Hillary Clinton could be compared as Superman, and Sarah Palin could be compared as the Bizzaro-like character(the evil-twin superman). In other words, McCain probably picked Palin(not meant to be a tongue twister with all of the PPP’s),because she’s a woman, but an alternative bad version of what excellence and good Hillary stands for.

And just what is your Christian values? And you know for a fact that Obama had alcohol and drug use abuse. I guess just like our current president George Bush. And bush and Cheny’s shady dealing with Halaburton. What about Bush who lied to the American public about Iraq possessing WMD. Exposing an undercover CIA agent all because her husband decided to tell the truth. He has a wonderful record with Kartina right? You even pointed it out, you have a problem because he has a Muslim name. You showed your true colors. You’re a racist

Obama thinks dropping Paulson’s name is gonna help? And what’s with the “haircut” comment? He’s so hip, isn’t he. I’ll bet we find out the executives aren’t getting paid any more and the shareholders could include his grandmother’s pension fund. It’s a glib response that means nothing.

Checked the accuracy of McCain’s speech accepting the Republican nomination and noted the following:
McCain claimed that Obama’s health care plan would “force small businesses to cut jobs” and would put “abureaucrat … between you and your doctor.” In fact, the plan exempts small businesses, and those who have insurance now could keep the coverage they have. McCain attacked Obama for voting for “corporate welfare” for oil companies. In fact, the bill Obama voted for raised taxes on oil companies by $300 million over 11 years while providing $5.8 billion in subsidies for renewable energy, energy efficiency and alternative fuels. McCain said oil imports send “$700 billion a year to countries that don’t like us very much.” But the U.S. is on track to import a total of only $536 billion worth of oil at current prices, and close to a third of that comes from Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom.
He promised to increase use of “wind, tide [and] solar” energy, though his actual energy plan contains no new money for renewable energy. He has said elsewhere that renewable sources won’t produce as much as people think.
He called for “reducing government spending and getting rid of failed programs,” but as in the past failed to cite a single program that he would eliminate or reduce.
He said Obama would “close” markets to trade. In fact, Obama, though he once said he wanted to “renegotiate” the North American Free Trade Agreement, now says he simply wants to try to strengthen environmental and labor provisions in it.
Sarah Palin’s much-awaited speech at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday night may have shown she could play the role of attack dog, but it also showed her to be short on facts when it came to touting her own record and going after Obama’s.
Found Rudy Giuliani, who introduced her, to be as factually challenged as he sometimes was back when he was in the race. But Mike Huckabee may have laid the biggest egg of all.
Palin may have said “Thanks, but no thanks” on the Bridge to Nowhere, though not until Congress had pretty much killed it already. But that was a sharp turnaround from the position she took during her gubernatorial campaign, and the town where she was mayor received lots of earmarks during her tenure.
Palin’s accusation that Obama hasn’t authored “a single major law or even a reform” in the U.S. Senate or the Illinois Senate is simply not a fair assessment. Obama has helped push through major ethics reforms in both bodies, for example.
The Alaska governor avoided some of McCain’s false claims about Obama’s tax program – but her attacks still failed to give the whole story.
Giuliani distorted the time line and substance of Obama’s statements about the conflict between Russia and Georgia. In fact, there was much less difference between his statements and those of McCain than Giuliani would have had us believe.
Giuliani also said McCain had been a fighter pilot. Actually, McCain’s plane was the A-4 Skyhawk, a small bomber. It was the only plane he trained in or flew in combat, according to McCain’s own memoir.
Finally, Huckabee told conventioneers and TV viewers that Palin got more votes when she ran for mayor of Wasilla than Biden did running for president. Not even close. The tally: Biden, 79,754, despite withdrawing from the race after the Iowa caucuses. Palin, 909 in her 1999 race, 651 in 1996.

Perhaps James missed class the day that McCain admitted that he didn’t know very much about the economy.(he actually said that during this campaign and there is lots of video out there to back it up.) That bit of info is not my opinion, but fact that can be documented. So James…..your little economic rant that McCain is more qualified to handle the economy is crushed by none other than your own candidate.
Another thing. If I hear any more about Palin’s experience I’m gonna puke! According to the logic of the Republicans, the mayor of my town which has a population of 8000, is more qualified to be the pres or vp because of his executive experience. Believe me, the mayor of my town is a great guy who has mayorial executive experience but he ain’t ready to be the president.
When a guy (McCain) gets up at his own convention and says his party has been wrong and has to heal itself, then that says alot about the folks who are running the party and the people who vote for them. But of course now the Republicans are all about change since their initial tactics of running on experience didn’t work. If the change thing doesn’t work for them, will they jump to another platform in a couple of weeks? What would that be? Three different platforms in three months?
Sorry John. I don’t want to support your efforts to rehab your misguided party at the expense of continuing the failed policies that your party has given us over the last seven years.

To everyone who wrote something. Thanks to God that we still live in nation where people can say what ever they want. 99.9% of every Politician who ever lived and lives today are one notch below child molesters. Remember that as long as you live because that is the truth. The USA doesn’t need a President. We need to get rid of all of our useless politicians who have sold their misserable beings to the higherst bidder. The Republicans and Democrats don’t give a damn about any of us. Hell they don’t even know where you live. We don’t need change we need to rediscover who we are. First of all we need to call an apple an apple and an orange an orange. What I saw the other night was the true face of the Republican Party. That face is the same face I saw unveiled in the 1930′ and 1940′s. Fascist, racist, bigoted, twisted, and poisonous NAZIS. USA we must wake up. For the past 8 years we have had the KKK running the White House. Do you want to give the United States of America to the New Nazis? This is not a joke. Wake up USA. The enemy from within is the enemy less expected. I don’t see myself as a Republican or Democrat. I have always seen myself as a USONIAN. A USONIAN is a person from the United States of America. There is still hope but the nation must wake up before it is to late. I have always been awake because I know who I am. I am a USONIAN and not a donkey or an elephant. I love my country because I know who I am. I am a USONIAN a person of the United States of America. The problem is that most of the people who live in the USA don’t know who they are. That is why it so easy to be taken in by liars, carpet baggers, flim flam artist and thieves in night. We need more than Obama’s change. We need to rediscover ourselves. We are lost in the mist of Bull C–p. Make sure when you vote in November don’t vote out of fear, racism, or supidity, but for the love of our nations children. Their future is in our hands. So my fellow USONIANS lets’s get off our behinds and do something for our country. VOTE not just for change but for a new discovery of who we are.

It may be news to the Washington “highly educated” news media but M comes before O in the alphabet. Since more people watched John Mccain than Obama’s “temple of the dog” speech in Denver. They should have let those failed institutions collapse and let the free market economy sort it out.

More coverage goes to the Democrats because all the news media are liberal people. If you stand for right, you are a loser in this world, but not in the one to come. ABC is disgusting and a lot of us will never watch them again. They are totally prejudiced and show it all the time. Disappointed with the comments on this board about the Fannie/Freddie situation. Basically, the government’s stepping with cash to keep the two mortgage sellers alive until people start buying homes again. Have any of you thought, where are we getting the money to help them out? Sarah Palin electrifies the McCain/Palin ticket turning the election race on its head. This turn of events has stunned the leftwing and its liberal media attack dogs. Dirty liberal tactics have failed and backfired as they watch their boy barack hussein obama’s polls fall through the floor.
But I think there’s more than the Palin factor at work here, we need to consider the barack factor too. Bill Clinton believes barack has the mindset of a Chicago street thug (Politico, 2008) and that his closest associates all hate America (Free Republic, 2008).
Baracks close friend Bill Ayers once said, “Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, Kill your parents.” Then on 9/11 he went on to say, “I don’t regret setting bombs, I feel we didn’t do enough.”. In the 1990s, Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn introduced barrack obama to “neighbors” during his first run for the Illinois Senate. Obama’s association with unsavory characters is extremely troubling.
So clearly barack is fighting against himself and he will loose, Americans simply do not like thugs who hate America!

I was a Hillary supporter, but I have better sense than to vote for McCain who wants to keep the taxes for the rich in place, who want to continue throwing our national treasure at Iraq, who picks a woman for VP just to please the Christian right, and probably the only vetting done on Palin was by the Christian right, and who says he is all for change and yet he wants to keep doing all the things that the Bush Administration has done to ruin this country. America badly needs a change… and Obama has plans which I like. No way would I even consider voting for McCain, ever!!!

This is truth and no spin. Never mind about McCain or Obama. If you are a true animal lover and believe in animal protection, how can you support Palin. She has said and again this isnt spun or made up, that she likes to shoot wild game for fun. Not food but just for the fun and sport of it. She even sued the Bush adminstration to take the Polar Bear or the protected list. The above is reason enough not to support her or her policies if you are like me and love animals. To say its is wrong to abort a babie, but then turn around and kill for sport. Am I missing something? In my opinion I dont believe in gun control except to control the hoodlums from having them. I dont mind hunting if the game is for food or in need. But just to kill for the sport of killing tells me where her heart is.

A few corrections: 1) the polls are pretty much in the same place they have been for months; 2) Ayers is not Obama’s “close friend; and 3) Ayers did not say “I don’t regret setting bombs” and he did not NOT say it on 9/11.

OBAMA saying investors/shareholders have to pay shows he doesn’t know sh!t. The government helping out Fannie and Freddie will wipe out the value of their stock anyway – so SHAREHOLDERS WILL PAY! Obama and liberal democrats are so busy spending other people’s money they have no appreciation for how it is earned or the risks people take to make it.

The American people need to wake up and smell the flowers. Obama promises change. The people are being hoodwinked by the republications, they are afraid of change because they will lose the power to help the rich. Besides, the only thing that I can see is that Palin is pretty, what she has had to say I have heard before, before she came along. She has not impressed with me her attacks on Obama, all I can smell is the lipstick and it smells stale. Obama is for the poor people. Obama/Biden 2008 is our last chance.

Two-cats, one of your cats is missing. Try and think a little, just a little.
I know, you have heard the democrat talking points —
TAX THE RICH
TAX THE RICH
TAX THE RICH
TAX THE RICH
But just who is the rich? They pay 97% of the taxes in this country. I am middle class and I paid NO TAXES last April. THANK YOU George Bush.
Since we pay no taxes, what do you propose? Give us money??? Would be nice but would bankrupt the country. Ok with you?
What National Treasure are we throwing at Iraq? You would prefer citizens to fry in 90 story buildings here in America?
If Palin was picked just because she is a woman, they can you tell us just why Hairplug Joe was picked? For Change????
Since you know all about the “vetting” or non vetting, why don’t you tell us just how she was selected? The Washington Post said she was on the long list for months, as those were peeled off, the last week she was investigated thoroughtly, met with McCain’s team, met with him, met with Cindy, team, McCain, and then finally chosen.
That enough VETTING to suit you?
Care to tell us how Bush has ruined this country? Last I saw our economy was booming, until democrats took over, unemployment still lower than when Slick Willie was here, and the only problem we have is high GAS PRICES. If democrats would allow us to drill and increase the suppply, it would cure 99% of our ills.
But no, can’t drill, it would kill some Caribou, according to green weenies.
Finally, just what are Obammy’s “plans”? If you know, please tell us, he sure hasn’t.

Campaigning four years ago Bush claimed that he had achieved record home ownership. We now know it was a lie. How can Bush take credit for record home ownership when we are now bailing out the mortgage industry? NO REPUBLICAN SHOULD BE PRESIDENT EVEN IF HE IS A MAVERICK WITH TWO LEGS OR FOUR LEGS.

Ha! You dumb flabby Americans will vote McCain in, I can sense it. Then when he keels over, there will be the psycho housewife with the machine gun and her boinking teenage daughter. Don’t worry, we in Europe will take her seriously, promise!!! You Americans are so stupid, voting Republican twice and now a third time….Why can’t you get some exercise, maybe that will clear your brain and make you less dumb-looking to the rest of the world.

Well of COURSE he’s inclined to side with anything that resembles more, more, MORE government. Obama is a socialist, not a capitalist! He wants to commit economic genocide against anyone who has worked their a$$ off to get ahead in this country. In no way, shape or form is this man a “patriot” and with each passing day I am more and more of the opinion that his utopian society looks more like facism than democracy.

You really don’t know this market too well, Obama. I’m in the business and think that a bailout is a very, very bad idea. Oh yeah, I expect to lose my job soon as a result. Still doesn’t change my opinion.
We cannot afford to burden prudent taxpayers with the enormous costs. Potential new homeowners will also be negatively affected. People who make bad decisions should not be protected. You just can’t fix stupid (buyers, lenders, government).

Obama seems incapable of making any decision. If elected, I’m sure he’ll install a “present” button in the White House so he can avoid making tough decisions like he did when he was in the Illinois legislature. The White House is no place for a cowardly, inexperienced elitest like Obama to cut his teeth being an executive who has to make decisions that will affect our lives.

Euro.guy, dry your tears, we won’t do a pre-emptive strike on you – you just keep on posting – all of our brotherly bickering is putting a real strain on us, so your culturally sensitive comments provide comic relief. Speaking of which, everyone, even you LarryMan, should enjoy watching this hilarious clip. http://www.comedycentral.com/videos/index.jhtml?videoId=184086 for a textbook example of Republican hypocrisy, straight from the horses’ mouths. 100% spin, 0% integrity. And boy are most of us tired of that…including surely John McCain, but a vote for McCain is a vote for another 4 years of Republican slime tactics in power. When President Bush addressed the RNC and compared the ‘angry left’ to the Hanoi Hilton jailors (again, no sense of shame), he ignored the much larger ‘angry middle’. Even people like me (i.e., ones with actual lives, ones that have tolerated the exceptionally high level of lying and bullying under Bush, etc.) are writing posts and we’ll be voting. So, Republican mass-mailers, ideologues, professional insulters and incompetents – all the lies and spin: bring ‘em on. Keep on mobilizing reasonable U.S. to vote the Republican bums out.

Obama is wrong for this country, electing him will set us back 100 years. McCain/Palin will make the changed we need in Washington, with Obama you’ll get more gov’t, is that really what we need?
McCain may not be the perfect choice who is, but he is a far sight better then Obama. Think about it. Once we elect a new president we are locked in for 4 years so make sure you look past all the smooth talk and realize what each candidate stands for. Don’t let their smooth talk sway you. READ FOR YOURSELVES!!

Obama has no achievements, he has only been in the senate for 2 years and has voted present 85% of the time, what does that tell you. I realize McCain has voted present too but no where near as often. McCain is putting the country first unlike Obama who is putting himself first. Think about it people, once Obama is elected their is no going back; their is no redo. McCain may have his own issues but look what he stands for, America will be way better off with him. Don’t let Obama’s smooth talk sway you and he is a smooth talker, tells you what you want to hear. Don’t believe it!!

Some of you don’t know that Barack was actually a great basketball player as a kid, but as he sat on the curb waiting to be picked by the other kids, they couldn’t help notice how he crossed his legs. Unfortunately, Barack was a transfer from Indonesia and didn’t know better. The local kids hero’s were the Chicago Bulls, and had Barack been more observant, he would have noticed that none of the Bulls bench crossed their legs the way he did. Needless to say, the kids made their choices and Barack was never chosen. Eventually it dawned on him, that basketball wasn’t working out, which is when he made the decision to go into politics. Thus….. a basketball playing, gay leg crossing, politician was born.
This photo sure looks like Obama and Stepalloverthis are gazing deeply into each others eyes….and what’s Stepalloverthis doing to that pen?
Onto the subject: Obama’s government intervention is a fresh new idea, and knowing how the government runs programs, I’m sure it would be a huge success. I, for one, have never seen an unsuccessful government program, have you? Remember, there’s a 10,000 word limit here.

Seriously, during a campaign, it IS the role of VP to attack. You know, like what Biden does. Biden, now that’s priceless. Yeah, I want him to be a “heartbeat” away from the Presidency. Talk about LIAR! He also forgot his speeches are taped. Obama/Biden have no executive experience, no economic experience, no business experience.
Two senators who are economic lightweights. Both have never been on economic committees.
Obama says 57 states, 10,000 died in a tornado in kansas, 100 million died in Burma.
Bill Clinton was governor for 12 years. He balanced budgets. He knew the economy.
Obama is terrible at math. He is a lawyer.
Obama has no business skills. Obama is illiterate at math.
Obama picked another senator with no economic experience as his running mate.
Obama/Biden are a joke. Both have never run anything. They are both lawyers who have no business experience.
————–
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m pretty sick of a lot of “businessmen” – seems like they’ve been doing a lot or running our economy into the ground under Bush.
Carpetbagging CEO’s, Wall Street Schemers, Unscrupulous Predatory Lenders, Fast Buck Artists of every sort were unleashed on us with the compliance of Bush Administration regulators.
But then guys like Ken Lay bought and paid for the Bush bunch, and they got what they paid for.
So I’m tired of hearing how “businessmen” are better at running the country – it hasn’t worked out in practice.

i have a little problem that Obama is still personally connected with Rev. Wright who he considers family. Obama and the Democrats aren’t mentioning him because of this election. The man preaches hate. This is very disturbing. with that said, I like McCain/Palin they’re the only one who has done something and proved it on record. Biden been in Washington for over 30 yrs and he still hasn’t done much. not even fought his own party like McCain. I’m still waiting for Obama did for ALL people not just one group. Unlike Palin who did so much for her state as a governor that included ALL the people of Alaska. McCain/Palin 2008!

Karronna, No she doesn’t and I know McCain has in the past, but I for one am not basing my vote on what if. What if Obama gets assinated or suddenly dies, do any of us know for sure? NO!

———-
The rich-getting-richer phenomenon is not fiction; it’s well-documented by even the Congressional Budget Office, and it’s accelerating.
The “rising tide lifting all boats” and “trickle down” ideas sound good but recent history belies them
Congratulations, my friend, you have officially been brainwashed by the Republicans. You, and we, have all been HAD by these people, and we need to turn it around real quick, or we’ll be just another tinhorn dictatorship.

This voting problem of Barack’s has been an issue since he was a young boy in Indonesia. For some unexplainable reason, instead of printing his name in the upper right corner of his schoolwork, he printed the word “present”. This explains the poor grades he received in school as a youngster, because, of course, no one knew who the paper belonged to. He recovered from this problem and actually graduated from Harvard law school. But now he’s regressed, the problem has resurfaced and most of his votes in the senate are now listed as “present”. At least now he actually signs his name on the paper so we can credit him with these important votes. When asked why he does this he mentioned something about being above his paygrade?? He’s going to make a fantastic president!! Our company has already come up with a new increased price list to compensate for the tax increase we anticipate. We’re going to keep the old one, just in case. We’ve labeled them the BB(Before Barack) and AB(After Barack) price lists. Nothing like planning ahead.

It’s really laughable, all these idiots trying to pretend that the incredible mess our economy is in is the DEMOCRAT’s fault!
My God, any idiot knows this is the culmination of years of rampant runaway capitalism and manipulation of assets! You don’t get these results overnight!
The Enron disaster – ENTIRELY on Bush’s watch. And every other economic problem set up by lack of oversight and
massive debt-building by Bush and his wrongheaded war (remember the one he LIED us into!)
The democrats have had a tiny majority in one house of Congress and a tinier one in the other for too little time to correct any of this.
Blaming this mess on ANYBODY but REPUBLICANS is the greatest LIE ever foisted on the American people!
And electing ANY MORE REPUBLICANS has to the STUPIDEST idea ever foisted on us!
For God’s sake, admit it, DITTOHEADS! Your champions had their day, and they blew it so bad NO ONE may be able to fix it.
If anybody can, it sure as hell won’t be MORE REPUBLICANS, not even your ridiculous new Pit Bull Messiah!

These are the facts how I see it! Our brave men and women do not wish to be bogged down in a war we should have never started with IRAQ! No matter how you Republicans try to spin this war into a patriotic experience, it is not! Bush and McCain have no business blowing up families just like yours and mine just because Bush and McCain cant admit they were wrong. There is nothing PATRIOIC about killing people that did nothing to us. Our soldiers care about what you and I care about and that is their families back in the States that are losing their jobs and houses because Mr. Bush has decided we the tax payers are gonna pump 10 billion dollars a month in IRAQ while IRAQ is sitting on a multi billion dollar surplus. Tell me this, why are we OK with our sons and daughters still dieing and being sent home in caskets? Some sit back and think that because we are not seeing as many American Soldiers being killed that everything is great in IRAQ! But can you look into the eyes of a American Soldiers Mother, Father, Brother, Sister or Son and tell him or her that their loved one will not be coming home again? It doesn’t matter if it’s one million American Soldiers or one American Soldier that is killed in IRAQ, one is to many. We all know damn well we have no business being in IRAQ but some of us dont want to admit that our Government is wrong and we are wrong for sitting back and pretending that IRAQ attacked us. We are the most Powerful Country on this Planet but yet we can’t find one man name Osama Bin Laden but we can track down bird flew or mad caw disease in America to that one single chicken or cow that started it all. Amazing isn’t it! Going down the path we are going down now in America with the Bush McCain policies are only gonna lead Americans down a path that we will regret if we decide we are OK with another eight years of Bush policies. Vote Country and Family First! Vote For Change! Vote Obama/Biden.

So worried that a BLACK man could actually become president that you have lost all logic. Since your country is already borrowing large sums from once poor countries, I’m sure the color of your president will be the least of your worries in a few short year! Enjoy your new McCain/Palin regime, but pay attention, your once super power status is rapidly becoming a distant memory.

While Palin reads from a prepared statement, she and everyone else need to read the history of how we get here.
Why not ask McCain’s financial adviser, Phil Gramm? “Foreclosure Phil” do some searches
When Gramm was a Senator he was Chairman of the Banking Committee. He pushed through the legislation known as the “Enron Loophole.” This loophole allowed US investment banks to bypass Federal regulations governing futures trading, and is the reason why investment banks were able to falsely inflate the prices of oil, wheat, corn and other commodities through massive futures trading, causing your costs of gas, heating oil and food to go through the roof.
Gramm also created the Gramm-Leach-Biley Act, which got rid of the laws that separate banking, insurance and brokerage activities in America. The Gramm Act was touted as a new way to protect consumer privacy, but the real meat on the Act’s bones was banking deregulation.
Essentially, this Act did away with laws written after the Great Depression to protect us from another Wall Street/Banking Industry collapse. Gramm stripped the system of it’s safe guards nine years ago, and guess what? The value of the dollar has nose-dived, major economic institutions have failed, Wall Street is unstable, and many future generations will be paying for this mess.
To expect either candidate to wave a magic wand is living in a fantasy world.
Just a few months ago, McCain said Gramm was the smartest economist ever. He also said Gramm had the highest integrity. Gramm does have pockets filled with money from Enron, UBS, and other investment banks.
McCain and Gramm do not have to be concerned about their retirement, buying a house, or having a job.

It appears as though Ms Palin has a history of special interest groups hounding her already (albeit on a much smaller scale). She says she fired the police chief in Wasilla because he didn’t support her fully. He says that one of the main reasons she let him go was because he was pushing to move the alcohol curfew up to 2 am from 5 am to cut down on drunk driving and accidents. Some of her major campaign contributors were the local bar owners in Wasilla. This is one example…but there are more. The police chief sued, but 2 years later the judge ruled she had the right to fire at will due to Alaska being a right to work state. The previous mayor had a “no termination without cause clause” drawn up with respect to city employees but it had never been fully ratified by the council. The pattern leads one to think of abuse of power. Also….she was a signagory on the senator who is in trouble for ethics violations’ 527.
There is more….

NEWSFLASH! THIS JUST IN:
McCAIN IS ACCUSED OF THEFT!
Apparently still reeling from being caught steeling no less than 12,000 US flags from the Democrats in an overnight raid recently, now authorities are revealing more theft complaints involving McCain and his personal entourage.
As if steeling 12,000 flags and blaming it on local Boy Scouts wasn’t enough, McCain now stands accused of steeling a copy of Gideon’s bible from a hotel in Minneapolis during his stay there for the convention earlier this week.
Hotel employees gave a list of several items missing from the Hotel after McCain stayed there, including the Bible. Other missing items included three cocktail glasses, an ice bucket, several bars of soap, three rolls of toilet paper and those tiny little ketchup and mustard bottles.
Boy Scouts den mothers also expressed their dismay given the recent circumstances surround the wild accusations that somehow Boy Scouts were wandering the Invesco Arena area during the late hours after the DNC Convention and had stumbled upon 12,000 US flags, which they were then alleged to have stolen and having fenced in Minneapolis to the RNC. “I am shocked” said one mother. “Little Jimmy is in by sunset in tucked in by 8:30 every night, including weekends”.
“These Bibles are no longer free to steal” said the Hotel manager anonymously for fear of scurrilous reprisals by Republican fanatics. “It clearly states on the inside cover that you have to send away now for a free copy of the Gideon’s Bible” exclaimed the Hotel manager.
“You can’t just go willy-nilly taking things as if you own the world” the manager added. “I hear he was illegally downloading music off the internet last month to use in his TV commercials to bash the Democrats.”
Apparently McCain has long suffered from a rare disorder called “Hotel Kleptomania” stemming all the way back to his days in the Hanoi Hilton, where staff still insist he would take spoons, which have not been accounted for to this day. McCain still holds a grudge against the Hiltons, recently implicating young Paris Hilton in one of his regular tirades about Barack Obama, his staunch Democratic rival for the presidency.
The Hiltons were not available for comment, but a spokesperson for the Hotel chain said that McCain has been blacklisted from staying at their hotels since the early 70s due to missing items whenever he would stay at one of their hotels.
This is just one more blow to the McCain camp, still reeling from theft accusations including stealing Barack Obama’s political campaign theme and message as well, a message of change and reform. “We knew he had taken the message”, as did several witnesses who spotted McCain, Washington insider and veteran politician for a quarter century, spouting the term change and reform where several members of the American public were gathered.
One witness said he knew McCain had stolen Obama’s message when he heard McCain having tremendous difficulty pronouncing the word “change”. “It sounded so strange coming from Mr. McCain that you could readily see he was unfamiliar with the concept or how to pronounce the word” said one eye witness. A local panhandler handed McCain a dollar, thinking McCain was begging for a hand out. “I just felt sorry for the guy” said the homeless man, he kept saying “change”.
Mr. Obama stated that “This is a sad day for all Americans” and lamented that McCain really had no message or content of his own to use for his campaign. Mr. Obama volunteered to donate his political message and theme to McCain just as soon as he was finished with them, after November 6th.
Democratic supporters feeling bad for poor McCain have started a campaign and are mailing McCain their loose change.

Karronna, and your point is? If you suggesting Palin is not immune to special interests and what not I would agree, but I like her because she is out of the main stream in D.C. in my opinion. She will fight rather than lay down. America needs that, we need someone who will question the standard, ask why?

The deal that Ms Palin has signed with Transcanada is also interesting in that an American company was also bidding for the rights to install the pipeline, but they wanted an estimate as to the amount of fuel that would go through the line. The state so far has not been willing to give that estimate. The deal with Transcanada allows that if the state has anything to do with facilitating a pipeline to be built by a competitor, than Transcanada is to be paid TREBLE damages based on this amount of fuel. kind of an open ended deal for Transcanada without an estimate of the fuel to be pumped through. There’s also a lot of fed money guaranteed as part of the equation. Take a close look at this situation before you assume she’s not tainted.

I happen to agree that we need people who will question the standard and ask why…I intend to ask…another question…why won’t Ms Palin answer questions? She doesn’t even have to answer them for the MSM in my opinion…how about a “town hall” NOT contrived by the McCain camp with real citizens citizens like you and I who get to ask her questions about her involvement in some of these issues- non censored? I would welcome that format for all of the candidates. but at least the others have subjected themselves to some questioning so far…she has NOT…if there is nothing to hide than what’s the problem. Why does the McCain camp say they’ll let her answer questions when it’s good for the CAMPAIGN? I thought it was COUNTRY first.

I look at it as the lessor of two evils, McCain/Palin is far less evil the Obama/Biden. Obama will send this country in the wrong direction. Examples, Rev.Wright, his perceived patriotism, which to me IS a big deal; his wifes’ reference months ago that for the first time she is proud to be an American. What does that mean? Read the following, I didn’t come up with this.
According to Snopes.com, Princeton was requested to put a ‘restriction’ on distribution of any copies of the thesis of Michelle Obama (a/k/a/ Michelle laVaughn Robinson) saying it could not be made available until November 5, 2008 but when it was published on a political website they decided they would lift the restriction.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/thesis.asp
Subj: Thesis – Michele Obama aka Michelle LaVaughn Robinson
OBAMA’S MILITANT RACISM REVEALED
In her senior thesis at Princeton , Michele Obama, the wife of Barack Obama
stated that America was a nation founded on ‘crime and hatred’.
Moreover, she stated that whites in America were ‘ineradicably racist’. The
1985 thesis, titled ‘Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community’ was
written under her maiden name, Michelle LaVaughn Robinson.
Michelle Obama stated in her thesis that to ‘Whites at Princeton , it often
seems as if, to them, she will always be Black first…’ However, it was reported
by a fellow black classmate, ‘If those ‘Whites at Princeton ‘ really saw Michelle
as one who always would ‘be Black first,’ it seems that she gave them that
impression’.
Most alarming is Michele Obama’s use of the terms ‘separationist’ and
‘integrationist’ when describing the views of black people.
Mrs. Obama clearly identifies herself with a ‘separationist’ view of race.
‘By actually working with the Black lower class or within their communities as
a result of their ideologies, a separationist may better understand the desperation of their situation and feel more hopeless about a resolution as opposed to an integrationist who is ignorant to their plight.’
Obama writes that the path she chose by attending Princeton would likely lead to
her ‘further integration and/or assimilation into a white cultural and social structure that will only allow me to remain on the periphery of society; never becoming a full participant.’
Michele Obama clearly has a chip on her shoulder.
Not only does she see separate black and white societies in America , but
she elevates black over white in her world.
Here is another passage that is uncomfortable and ominous in meaning:
‘There was no doubt in my mind that as a member of the black
community, I am obligated to this community and will utilize
all of my present and future resources to benefit the black
community first and foremost.’
What is Michelle Obama planning to do with her future resources if she’s first
lady that will elevate black over white in America ?
The following passage appears to be a call to arms for affirmative action
policies that could be the hallmark of an Obama administration.
‘Predominately white universities like Princeton are socially and academically
designed to cater to the needs of the white students comprising the bulk of
their enrollments.’
The conclusion of her thesis is alarming.
Michelle Obama’s poll of black alumni concludes that other black students
at Princeton do not share her obsession with blackness. But rather than
celebrate, she is horrified that black alumni identify with our common
American culture more than they value the color of their skin. ‘I hoped that
these findings would help me conclude that despite the high degree of
identification with whites as a result of the educational and occupational
path that black Princeton alumni follow, the alumni would still maintain a
certain level of identification with the black community. However, these
findings do not support this possibility.’
Is it no wonder that most black alumni ignored her racist questionnaire?
Only 89 students responded out of 400 who were asked for input.
Michelle Obama does not look into a crowd of Obama supporters and see
Americans. She sees black people and white people eternally conflicted
with one another.
The thesis provides a trove of Mrs. Obama’s thoughts and
world view seen through a race-based prism. This is a very
divisive view for a potential first lady that would do untold
damage to race relations in this country in a Barack Obama
administration.
Michelle Obama’s intellectually refined racism should give all
Americans pause for deep concern.
Now maybe she’s changed, but she sure sounds like someone with an axe to
grind with America . Will the press let Michelle get a free pass over her obviously
racist comment about American whites? I am sure that it will.
PS: We paid for her scholarship.

Ms Palin also promised to be a proponent for special needs children while slashing funding for those kids in half in her state. meanwhile she took $27 million of that money for that bridge to nowhere she said no thanks too…(after she pushed for the federal money while campaigning, but then realized the full deal wasn’t going to materialize)…took $27 million of it and built a “road to nowhere” – presumably at the base of the bridge…
Couldn’t a portion of that money gone to help those same special needs children? or to help out those teen mothers she took funding back from?

So the US Taxpayer once again gets the privilege of picking up the tag for a bunch of crooks? This was cooked up by Democrats and Republicans paying off their masters. It is a total joke to think the capital markets are anything more than a rigged casino. Bernanke was Bush’s economic advisor (part of the problem), Paulson was a Goldman Sacks guy pushing the subprime slime (part of the problem), Cox at the SEC is on vacation as much as Bush (part of the problem), Bush says the economy is fine (part of the problem) and it goes on and on. The only thing that never happens in Washington DC is getting the truth out.

That is true secessionism. Is that not concerning in the slightest to you or do you only get concerned when racism is involved.

Why are people so threaten by Obama? It shows one’s ignorance and fear of what they don’t want to understand. Obama has been gracious, accepting of everyone, completely inclusive with everyone and only wants the best for all Americans. So why are people so angry with him? He has laid out a way better plan that Mccain has NOT laid out and that’s the bottomline. People who dislike Obama need to come off their high horses and hateful attitudes and vote for the real candidate of real change Obama 2008!!!Not Mccain….

Karronna, Thank you for bringing the AIP issue up front, I am not going to speak on that as I don’t have enough information YET to make a conclusion. I’m not saying your right or wrong just that I need more information; and I will research it. As for McCain, I did hear his speech and what I interperated is that he loved his country BEFORE but he was a selfish person that put HIM before others and being in Hanoi changed that. MY opinion!

Sheila, the problem with Obama is 1. His relationship with a pastor that preaches hate and the fact that he has been his pastor for half his adult life, meaning Obama does even if subconciously agree with what Wright preaches. 2. Obama’s perceived lack of patriotism, yes It is a big deal, if he can stand there without his hand on his heart during the nat;l anthem why can’t we? 3. He voted AGAINST making English the official language of the U.S.
4. He voted for Social Security benefits for illegal Aliens, what gives?

These “mini-interviews” with either candidate are nothing more than video set pieces designed to get the subliminal idea into American’s minds that their candidate “looks and acts presidential”. Nothing more, nothing less. This election has turned into a major dog & pony show, with Barack as the master ringleader. Tell me again why we should care at all what he thinks of the government bail-out of FM & FM? He is “briefed” then parrots the info back to George Steph. and suddenly, Barack’s “followers” say stupid -100 IQ things like, “Gee, he is sure smart!” & “Gee, Barack looks more and more presidential everyday!” Come on! Get Real!

I”m not saying sites like Snopes.com or others are 100% accurate; they aren’t but their is some truth in what they find. As for what Bills Obama has sponsored or cosponsored I live in Illinois and politics is high on the agenda for the media so of course they have negleted to mention it. So refresh my memory, I don’t trust the media so in my opinion what they report is one sided or tainted.

The answer to that question Shelia is simple. White America is racist. People fear what they do not know or understand. Let’s not forget that soon whites in America will be in the minority. Most of them will tell you that they are not racist, but that is a lie. Their ignorance is so bliss it’s amazing. But let’s not forget that there are blacks that are just as racist as whites. Whites would rather vote for a 72 yr old have dead person that to give anyone else who is younger, more educated and has shown that they can bridge the gap a chance.

according to a Judicial Watch Blog:”
Obama Has Same Corporate Insiders He Regularly Blasts
Mon, 06/09/2008 – 15:46 — Judicial Watch Blog
Barack Obama campaigns with promises of change and he regularly blasts corporate
insiders yet a high-ranking campaign advisor and top fundraiser has received
millions of dollars in the sort of highly questionable loans that the Illinois
Senator blames for infecting the economy and creating a home foreclosure crisis.
A major newspaper broke the story over the weekend that contradicts Obama’s
infamous change rhetoric and ardent critiques of well-connected corporate
insiders who get perks that most Americans cannot even fathom. It turns out that
the bundler (committed to raising at least $100,000) who is in charge of finding
Obama a running mate has some serious skeletons in his closet.
Longtime Democratic Party power James Johnson, got at least five real estate
loans—at rates below market averages—worth more than $7 million from Countrywide
Financial Corp. through his close friend, Countrywide chairman and executive officer Angeleo Mozilo. In his nationally televised change
speeches, Obama has denounced these types of insider perks and blamed them for
infecting the economy and hurting hard-working Americans.
In fact, during one of his animated pep rallies in Pennsylvania Obama
specifically criticized Countrywide’s CEO for getting millions of dollars in
bonuses while people were at risk of losing their homes. “What’s wrong with this
picture?” the senator asked a pumped-up, rowdy crowd. It turns out that the
answer is a prominent part of his campaign.
This is hardly the first time that Obama’s illusion of a “squeaky clean” image
has been tainted. One of his top political fundraisers and close friends, a
shady slumlord named Antoin Rezko, was recently convicted for taking huge
kickbacks on government deals. The chairman (Hatem El-Hady) of an Islamic
“charity” shut down by the U.S. government for funding Middle Eastern terrorists
is one of Obama’s top fundraisers and the senator tried steering millions of federal dollars to his wife’s employer and the company of a top campaign
donor.
Yet Obama assured Americans early in his campaign that he was the only
presidential candidate not corrupted by Washington politics. The undisputable
facts clearly contradict this. “

WHY is America listening to a man who used his connections with an indicated real estate broker named REZKO who helped Barack himself obtain an illegally discounted home loan to purchase his $1.5 million Chicago mansion? Come on Barack, keep explaining all this stuff to America “as if we were 2-year-olds”. Jesus what a total jerk.

Dave B,
Warren B isn’t the only adviser on Obama’s team.Key economic advisers include a few Washington veterans such as Michael Froman, a Citigroup executive and former chief of staff to then-Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin, the Cabinet member most closely identified with the Clinton administration’s pro-free trade, business-friendly policies.
There are also several scholars from prestigious universities whose approaches are anchored in dominant market-oriented economic thought. One is Austan Goolsbee, a 38-year-old star University of Chicago Business School professor and New York Times columnist with centrist Democratic views who has argued for eliminating tax returns for many Americans with simple finances.

To all you misguided Republicans: Please, let’s stick the issues at hand, or perhaps you – like your candidates – being unable to articulate the issues must resort to personal attacks. The fact is, you are all out of touch with what is really happening in the U.S. Case in point: your candidate’s wife sports outfits that cost more than most American’s houses. Hpocrisy all around (all you have to do is watch the video clips from Jon Stewart to know that I have substance to back up my claims). Not the least is the claim by the Republicans (including those on this blog) that claim to want to come together to change and improve the country. For people that people that claim to want work together in a bipartisan way to create a united country so that future generations will be proud to be Americans again, you certainly spew a lot of hate. Obama has also introduced a number of bills in the 110th Congress, which convened on January 4. Among the bills Obama has recently introduced, one would “improve benefits and services for members of the Armed Forces, veterans of the Global War on Terrorism, and other veterans.” Obama introduced another bill “[t]o promote the national security and stability of the economy of the United States by reducing the dependence of the United States on oil through the rise of alternative fuels and new technology.” Further, on January 30, Obama introduced a bill (the official text of which is not yet available) that, according to Obama’s January 30 Senate floor speech on the bill, would “cap[] the number of U.S. troops in Iraq at the number in Iraq on January 10, 2007 — the day the President gave his ‘surge speech’ to the nation” and would require the process of troop withdrawal from Iraq to begin on May 1 with the goal of removing all combat brigades from Iraq by March 31, 2008

making a lot of money because of a lack of regulation- he has seized on another opportunity to regulate. why doesn’t he just nationalize it and be done with it. Certainly his tax scheme can just be ammended as he has done all along.
As for his tax plan, I guess Obama said something different in April in the interview with Maria Bartiromo. Under 75k would only get tax relief. Of course as I said he was trying to get the primary and appealing to his base. I don;t believe his current plan because he is appealing to the moderates and his history is anything but ,being the most liberal Senator. So I have to believe he is the tax and spend Democrat that he will revert to when elected. MoveOn, Daily Kos and George Soros are not bank rolling him because he is a moderate, he is as far left as you can go and his social programs will damage the economy. Hey jock59801, you are a pin-head. Let me educate you:
(1) Obama’s polls have fallen – see CBS, Gallup, Rasmussen et al.
(2) Dr. Young described Obama and Ayers as “friends,” (politico, 2008), and Obama has a long time association of many unsavory characters including Rezko, Ayers, Khalidi, Auchi (Batcher, 2008)
(3) New York Times, September 11, 2001 DINITIA SMITH published an article about Bill Ayers where he says “I don’t regret setting bombs, I feel we didn’t do enough.”

Speaking of polls,
Every major media outlet has an entrenched, ratings-based interest in the 2008 Presidential Election being a close, neck and neck battle up until the finish line on November 4th. CNN, FOX News, and MSNBC are experiencing record spikes in viewership. The closeness of the poll numbers between John McCain and Barack Obama puts a spot light on each candidate’s daily statements and actions, lending truth to the presumption that at anytime a sufficiently bad gaffe or misstatement might swing the pendulum of political support towards either side. The maintenance of such political theater and intrigue has been the network’s key to insuring that Wolf Blitzer, Sean Hannity, and Chris Matthews meet their respective ratings expectations.
Fox News and MSNBC for example pick and choose which polls to display during their news stories depending on what their given agenda is for that day. Fox readily withheld a poll showing McCain is losing support among independent voters in favor of highlighting a poll showing that Sen. Obama is seen as the “riskier” presidential choice. This clear manipulation of poll data is fueled by the knowledge that polls do indeed sway public opinion and can have a huge impact on future voter actions and outlooks.

It was the 11th failure this year of a federally insured bank.
Nevada regulators closed Silver State and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. was appointed receiver of the bank, based in Henderson, Nev. It had $2 billion in assets and $1.7 billion in deposits as of June 30.

McCain, a son of Republican presidential nominee John McCain, sat on the boards of Silver State Bank and of its parent, Silver State Bancorp, since February but resigned in July after five months citing “personal reasons,” corporate filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission show. Andrew McCain also was a member of the bank’s audit committee, responsible for oversight of the company’s accounting.
The younger McCain, who is the chief financial officer of Hensley & Co., the beer distributorship of which Cindy McCain is chairwoman, is the Arizona senator’s adopted son from his first marriage.
Remember El Dorado Savings and one of the Bush boys? And don’t forget John McCain’s involvment with Charles Keeting in the 90′s when the S&L collapse occurred. Puting McCain in the White House is like putting a pistol in your mouth and pulling the trigger. He is an IDIOT. We’ve had an idiot for 8 years and look what you got! McCain is dummer than Bush, if such a thing is possible.

newrook- you should read Obama’s interview in Business week in April.
him.http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/08_15/b4079017876246_page_2.htm
Now Obama says he will not raise taxes on anyone making under 250k. In April running for the primaries and trying to win the liberal vote is was 75k (read the article). So which is it. Did DailyKos, MoveOn, George Soros stop supporting him because he spouts moderate views? No. So I can only surmise that if elected he will follow all the policies that have made him the most liberal of Senators and he will move away from all moderate views he has now. Sorry- I can’t trust him.

Have you noticed that the McCain Palin supporters don’t actually have anything to say to support their candidates on the issues, just smears. It’s kind of like a replay of the repub convention last week. A whole lot of juvenile nastiness, and no ideas or solutions. Come to think of it…it’s the same crap we’ve been livin’ for the last 8 years.

Pro-liars- Just think about Pelosi having a 9% approval rating and Palin having a 76% higher approval rating. Do you think Pelosi is doing a great job? Do you think she listens to the American people when 75% of the people want offshore drilling? Do you think she has promoted a ‘squeaky clean’ Congress, when Rep. jefferson D-La who had his bribe money in the freezer (frozen assets) is still roaming the halls? Do you think it was right for Pelosi and the Dems to leave Congress on vacation without an energy policy? You may want to reconsider your Dems all the way statement.

ok ignorant people, while yes people who take out home loans without a brain to calculate, dont you think the banks and bankers should bear some of the responsiblity seeing as this is their job…too protect the banks interests??? I think the banks are more to blame than the people, they shouldnt process loans that they know people may not be able to meet if the “rate” changes………..why should tax payers bail out the banks when they were irresponsible in lending the money???? think about it ididots….a business is suppose to be responsible as we are suppose to be as well….tax payers dont bail out the irresponsible american so why should we be bailing out banks at our expense??????????????????????????????? how corrupt….doesnt make ANY SENSE

Posted by: Steve | September 7, 2008, 12:15 am 12:15 am

terri- d- you are right to some extent- the bankers have as much blame as the people taking mortgages. If it sound too good, it probably is. An the Dems share some blame- in the 70s the Democratic Congress forced banks to loan in redline (risky) areas if they were going to be allowed to expand. Banks made the loans. In the 90s the loans were securitized and allowed to be sold. Wall Street bundled good loans and bad loans. And that became the problem. But the Democratic COngress shares some of the blame just like last Sept when the told lender of student loans they were making too much money and forced an interest rate cut. When the credit crunch hit, the lenders cut back on student loans and the Dems forced the Dept of Education to guarantee the loans, reducing the risk but opening the govt up to defaults on loans in the future when some other Congress has to worry about it. Very typical. And we can’t let large banks fold because of the ripple effect it has on confidence, jobs and credit in the economy. So bailout are necessary because of the shear size of the banks.

My barometer of change is 2006, that is when the democrats came into power; and I am still waiting to see positive change. Lets see, higher gas prices, higher food prices, NO action in the senate. You can’t blame these on Bush as president HE DOES NOT PASS BILLS the congress and senate does. Hmmmmm

Al………Iraq is what got us $10.2 Trillion in debt not Afghanistan coupled with Bush’s tax cuts while we are at war which McCain supported. McSame wants to keeps us there for maybe “50 more years.”
McCain would have us in another war within 1 year from inauguration and probably with both Russia or Iran. He implied war with Russia already and sings bombing Iran. That is his mentality. WAR! Think research think then vote.

Under the current administration for me anyway the past 8 years have seen my portfolios expand. Listening to what Obama wants it would decrease. As for another war if McCain is elected sorry I don’t agree with the notion, shaking a cage can like you are going to go can do alot towards ensuring your dont go. I’ve heard what both candidates have stated, and being a nation of sheep, under Obama would be far worse then being a nation of tigers.

Want proof the the Dems dont’t need the white house. Are we better of or worse of as a nation since 2006? 2006 is when the democrats took back control of both the house and senate, they have passed alot of bills and laws huh? Newsrook, I am open minded, the lesser of two evils is McCain. Obama speaks of making the US a nation of sheep one that will compromise it’s values to avoid conflict, sorry that is NOT the country I have served for 26 years. If Obama gets elected and gets his wish we will be out of Iraq and Afghanistan within months of him taking office. Bad move as that will undermine everything we have done so far. I have seen the smiles on the Iraqis and they are soo thankful we are there, pulling out like Obama wants would be disasterous. Call me a war monger or anything you want but Obama will make the US patsies to the rest of the world, if you want that fine, vote for him, me I choose the stronger hand.

It only make sense to increase taxes after spending on a useless war. In fact, I still believe that going to IRAK instead of Afganistan was a way to embezzle the American public. How?
We start the war, we give contracts to our friends at Halliburton using the taxpayer money and when we leave office, we become chairman of the board of those companies and we get paid in return millions of dollars. That my friend, is how we embezzle

Odinga THREATENED GENOCIDE and STILL Obama campaigned for him before tens of thousand of Kenyans on a freeking TAXPAYER PAID TRIP VIOLATING THE LOGAN ACT ALL THE WAY. And when Odinga lost, he committed genocide. QUEL SUPRISE! NOT. Odinga’s Luo tribe (Obama’s also a Luo tribe member) slaughtered Kikuyo Christians, burning 50 women and children alive in a church, killing over a thousand and displacing 300,000, then Kofi Anan stepped in and negotiated a shared presidency with Kibaki, VOILA Odinga loses and still get power. Did Obama vote present on this bill? Obama was part of the problem when Congress looked the other way when their banker friends reaped billions for writing illegal, undocumented loans.
Isn’t it great that Obama wants to bail out Freddie and Fannie with our tax dollars. That does not sound like a tax cut to me. Congress’ decision means that it shows preference for another sspecial interest group who bilked the taxpayers. I am tired of paying for those idiots who do not take responsibility for their own actions. Let Freddie and his friend Fannie file for bankruptcy. What is good for the goose is good for the gander!

You are all wrong!!! The Gov. should bail out no one. They made bad decisions, let them go under. They deserve nothing more…nothing less. Why should the Gov. use your tax dollars to fix problems caused by the idiots who sold $750,000.00 home to field workers earning $6.50 per hour. Lets get real here. By the Gov. taking over, they will just put a pal here and a friend over there and suddenly we have brand spanking new pirates in charge once again. Enough of this B.S. NO MORE BAILOUTS. Nature say that the strong will survive and the weak become tonights main course. That;s kife in a nutshell. Get over it folks. The free market will rectify everything if we can just get the Feds to go home and do nice-nice with their wives. Leave the financial markets alone. “No More Bailouts Unless They Send Me Some Of The Very Same Money”

Palin took 6 years to get ONE undergraduate degree at the lowest ranked universities. McCain graduated 5th from the bottom of an 899 student class in college. Obama graduated Magna Cum Laude and was the President and editor of the Harvard Law Review, and taught constitutional law for 12 years.

Remember back when Bush ran against Gore and they showed how Gore’s SAT scored were much higher than Bush’s. I would like to see presidential and vice-presidential candidates forced to take an IQ test before elections so everybody has a good idea how smart or stupid they are. I think the Bush presidency shows how relevant this is. Obama sounds a lot smarter than McCain but that can sometimes be deceiving. A lot of jobs make you take written tests when you apply, and this is the most important job in the world, so why not?

The Bush/McCain ticket will not win. It is another 4 years of the last 8 years. Who can trust a 10% chance that McCain will not vote with Bush after voting 90% with him. All of the same players on involved in the Bush/McCain ticket. Sara is just a distraction.

Posted by: kent3536 | September 7, 2008, 4:50 am 4:50 am

There are lies, damned lies and statistics.
The President heads the executive branch and does not create laws… it is therefore pure folly to say that McCain voted with Bush 90% of the time. Which bill did Bush pass? What legislation did Bush author?
Creating a staistic out of thin air is just meaningless drivel.

Posted by: diamond lou | September 7, 2008, 5:08 am 5:08 am

Especially with Pelosi’s do-nothing congress, there were no bills passed to prevent this. Democrats have not done anything the last few years even though they control the law making legislative branch. NADA. ZIP!!!

Obama = GRIDLOCK ! All of Obama’s campaign promises will meet the same outcome as Kucinich’s impeachment articles of GW Bush. The Speaker” Nancy” will say: we can’t get this passed, so lets not try, sniffle… I voted for Clinton on the same Obama promises, outcome = nothing. I voted for Gore on the same Obama promises, he won ! , the Democrats gave up the fight. Democrats are always disappointing me! A “Republicrat” has a chance for progress. I have said so many times I don’t like either party, but I do like parts of each…. this may be a dream come true….. Vote for McCain !

Of course he supports it!! Expand government, redistribute wealth, create the new Western EU…. More reason to take from the “rich” and give to the poor!! While I live comfortable by his standards I am rich. Please everyone vote for McCain/Palin or most of us true middle class will be forced to move to Mexico to sustain our standards. Only you can make the right choice

Obama is starting to suffer from “media-fatigue” … much of what we saw since Feb 2008 was a clear case of media-circus around Obama at the expense of McCain (and too certain extent Hillary).
Now that McCain has stolen the headlines by naming Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate. Palin, with a tumultuous political and personal history, dominated the news, overshadowing efforts by Obama and his running mate, Biden, to tell their own political story.
This is definitely is reflected in the national polling numbers and could give McCain a lead when the next round of polls comes out next week. In swing state Ohio, the projection is for McCain to take the lead over Obama. Now they are tied at 42%.

For me I would LOVE to ask OBAMA what CHANGES he has, all I know is no OFFSHORE DRILLING, HIGHER TAXES, AND A CIVIL MILITARY TO CONTROL SOCIETY AND THE 845 BILLION TO THE GLOBAL POVERTY ACT, AND STOPPING ALL WEAPONS MANUFACTURING AND CUTTING THE MILITARY!
McCain on the other hand made it VERY clear what he proposes: NO MORE DEPENDENCE on FOREIGN OIL, SCHOOL VOUCHERS, MONEY FOR HIGHER EDUCATION, DOUBLE THE CHILD TAX CREDIT, and VETOS of all PORK BARREL SPENDING, and LOWER COSTS TO INSURANCE RATES……
OBAMA is a TALKER he is NOT a DOER….I WANT a DOER, and SO DOES AMERICA! JOHN MCCAIN is that PERSON!

Obama is “inclined” to agree. This is political speach meaning no matter how the situation turns Obama can deny really saying he was for it or against it.
That is CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN.

Black racism will not win in November. It doesn’t matter what Obama pretends to do and support. Think: Mayority in America oposes Black racism (we have seen the black negro’s behavior at the malls, their music like rappers, hip-hoppers, and the movies, express hatred for whites). In this interview, Obama seemed very incomfortable in trying to answer George’s questions. He is starts to hesitate and stutter. Why is it that when he is only eloquent in front of a teleprompter? I think he was a flash in the pan for the Democtats and Obama is revealing inauthenticity.

Posted by: jeneheffer | September 7, 2008, 11:10 am 11:10 am

Obama is always wearing the same suits that make him look like a communist socialist uniform. I think he keeps back peddling because his slogan of “change” means his answers can be revised, reshaped and modified. The other slogan “hope” basically means that you hope he will answer without waffling. He is an awesome B.S.’er. He can jive and chuck but sadly he is a fraud. If he wins the election expect change beyond your expectation and hope the 4 years go by quickly.

The more he try to SPIN it, the more his polls numbers are falling …
Even before the full effect of RNC Convention Bounce is kicking in, the average of all polls (CNN, CBS, Gallup, Ramussen, Hotline) is showing Obama leading by a wafer thin margin of 1.8%. McCain is now 44.6% snapping away at Obama 46.4%

The McCain/Palin ticket wins 49.7% support, compared to 45.9% backing for the Obama/Biden ticket, this latest online survey shows. Another 4.4% either favored someone else or were unsure.

McCain’s favorability rating increased from 50% favorable last week to 57% favorable now, a significant jump that indicates the GOP convention was a success. Among independent voters, 61% now have a favorable impression of him, compared to just 49% who said the same a week ago.

In a Zogby Interactive survey conducted last weekend, just after the McCain announcement that Palin would join his ticket, McCain Palin won 47.1% support, while Obama/Biden won 44.6% support.

Nearly half – 49% – said they had a favorable opinion of Barack Obama, while 50% they had a negative impression of him. Among independent voters, 47% gave him favorable marks, compared to 46% who said the same thing last week.

Among the vice presidential candidates, 54% said they now hold a favorable view of Palin, while 42% hold an unfavorable view. While 49% have a favorable opinion of Joe Biden, 47% hold an unfavorable view of him.

In the two-way contest in which just McCain and Obama were mentioned in the question, the result was slightly different, with McCain leading, 48.8% to 45.7%.

The only reason there was an extension on unemployment and a new bill for our GI’s, is because they had to tie it to the bill that was for more money for this Iraq war. All bush cares about is Iraq, where pal Cheney has made filth dirty profits. ACTION speak louder than words and mccain voted with bush 90%, and he is changing his words to get votes, now he is preaching renewable energy, yet he voted against all types of new energy legislation. People wake up and look at the records, not the lies he is telling you just to get elected. It is time for change, I am giving Obama a chance. Everyone needs to remember that Clinton and the dems decided to signficantly downgrade the standards required to get a home loan. Most of the banks followed the lax loan requirements in order to survive. It was the dems that wanted EVERYONE to be able to qualify for a home loan whether they could actually pay or not. THE DEMS DON’T BELIEVE IN REAL PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, THEY ONLY PREACH IT AND THEN TAKE MORE OF YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY AS TAXES AND GIVE IT TO THOSE THAT WON’T WORK AND PAY BILLS ON TIME!!! Iran’s leadership has expressed “great pleasure” at the prospect of a Barack Obama victory in November, according to Menashe Amir, the Iranian-born head of Radio Israel’s Persian language service.
Iranian religious leaders said if Obama will enter the White House, then Islam will conquer the heart of the American nation
The Iranian leadership likes Obama “mainly because he is a Muslim,” according to Amir. His first name, Barack, comes from “al-baraq,” which is the name of the horse that Muslims believe Muhammad rode on his way to paradise. If he wins the election, Muslims will be very proud of such a conquest, such a win.

zoilodel:
Your argument is about as lame as McBush and Sarah Palins run for the Presidency. First off I’m black and I voted for Clinton who happens to be white and the majority of the black community was with Hillary until she started stumbling. I also voted for George W Bush both terms because I thought that Bush would help with the moral down fall in America and he didn’t do a thing, in fact the moral values that most Americans support have been aloud to be undermined with all the smut on the TV and the Radio. So even under a Republican President, there was no change in direction as far as protection of family values, in fact the attacks on our families morals have become even worse under Bush and I have no reason it will change under McCain. So I guess my thought is now, that I cant rely on the Government whether it be a Republican or Democrat when it comes to family values and morals. So I am left with making a decision on whether I want to go with Obama who talks about helping the poor and the middle class or John McCain who offers the exact same policies that George Bush has given Americans the last eight years. The rich who have gotten rich of the backs of the middle class and the poor dont have to worry about paying bills and putting food on the table but as a American who is middle class I have to worry about money now because I am one of the thousands of people that have lost my job because of layoffs. To think I voted for Bush, and now my wife and three children are just one pay check from being homeless! I gonna have to vote my wallet this time around and even though I’m a conservative when it comes to family values and morals, those issues are not gonna pay the bills. Obama08.

On this issue, the bail-out of the rich and powerful (aka people like them or contributors) there is no difference between the two parties or their minions. Once upon a time the Republican Party favored limited govt. & was the party of big business. Today both parties favor big (in fact limitless) government and BOTH are the party of big business. These coalitions of elites differ only in how far they are willing to go in the direction of eliminating individual rights and pandering to religious intolerance. On the other issues they are a single party. Neuther of the candidates running is different in any meaningful way on this issue.

Was this before or after Obama admitted he was a muslim?
“”The McCain campaign has never suggested you have Muslim connections,” said Mr. Stephanopoulos, who repeatedly interrupted Mr. Obama during the interview….
Let’s not play games,” he [Obama] said. “What I was suggesting — you’re absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith. And you’re absolutely right that that has not come.”
Mr. Stephanopoulos interrupted with, “Christian faith.”
“My Christian faith,” Mr. Obama said quickly.”

Yes, let’s bail out Fannie and Freddie and all of the folks who bought $500,000 homes in the burbs when they only make like $50,000 a year…I live in the city in a house that we could afford and we paid it off. Now Obama wants me to bail out these idiots and speculators with my tax money so that they can go on living in the nice burbs while I don’t even have central air. How about paying off my credit card and car ? I wasn’t so smart running up those expenses. So, bail me out too.

Posted by: KC_1971 | September 8, 2008, 3:35 pm 3:35 pm

Of course he supports it, after all, it’s just taxpayer money that’s funding the bailout, and there’s always more where that came from.

Posted by: Lavender | September 8, 2008, 6:28 pm 6:28 pm

Obama’s answer is weak, and sounds like he doesn’t know what he is talking about. One of his campaign advisors was a lobbyist for Freddie Mac, why not ask about that connection and failure instead of a story on fluff with non-answers. Recently, the Federal Reserve approved the bailout of Bear Stearns and JP Morgan’s purchase of Bear Stearns. Obama is one of biggest recipients of donations from the bailed out firms of: JPMorgan, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac employees.

Obama has already proven that he can work across the isle on major issues through his work on ethics reform and nuclear counter-proliferation legislation. Of course Obama would buck his own party. McCain, on the other hand, has reversed his position on the 10% of issues on which he previously had disagreed with George Bush.

Anyone that thinks the president is actually the one calling all of the shots is naive. There are so many players in the White House some that you will never even know. So much is being said about what Obama & Mccain know/don’t know & their running mates. Excuse me…has anybody been awake the last 8 yrs?? I don’t give a damn what class somebody flunked in college or how they cross their legs. We have been at war for how long fighting over idealogy. The value of our dollar is decreasing. Our education system just can’t seem to get it right. Our health system is challenged. Obesity is off the charts. There are more foreclosed homes on the market than market rate. Sorry subprime homebuyers were the ones that spurred the booming housing market in a time where we should have probably been in a recession. Gas prices are ridiculous. Give me a flipping break. I’d damn near vote for Big Bird & the dog from the Taco Bell commercial as running mates at this point. And I might see a marked improvement.
I would first of all like to see Republicans stop acting like they are the moral ambassadors of this country and admit they are human too. Not some genetically engineered humanbots. People have children out of wedlock. Get over it.
I would like to see Democrats stop bitching over petty stuff. So Clinton did not get the nomination or running mate selection. Women our time will come don’t go Republican for that trophy Palin this is not the time for an uprising. Well, Obama & Biden are still the lesser of two evils at this point.
Either way I believe our political system is very flawed. How many millions went into this campaign just to say we like a particular person? American Idol does it for free. That money could have gone into the economy for housing, education, roads, agriculture, fuel research, war relief. You name it. Why don’t they just hold public auditions for office. Then the semi finalists all go to one city for debates. Then the finalists all sit before panels weekly until the finale when America selects a group of 12. Finally the individual parties or non parties announce who they have chosen to nominate. And we pay nothing …
That’s the beginning of my dream for America also we need to:
1) get rid of everyone on death row, call it bloody Monday, & repent on Tuesday (they cost too much money & if they believe in God they going to heaven anyway we just speeding up the process)we need to put that money into our children before we have another generation of screwups
2) next everyone who abuses animals also loses their children (if you can’t take care of something responsibly that cleans its own butt just months out of the womb how are you going to rear a child for 18yrs?)
3) if we haven’t won a war after about 6 months pack it up & come on home…hell I know that I would much rather die with my family than thousands of miles away.
4) make foreign language mandatory in schools beginning at the preschool level. every other country knows English but not vice versa.
5) eventually get over our race issues. everybody is just about mixed w/1-4 other things anyway. I know that my ancestors were bought, sold, enslaved, victimized, disenfranchised. Time to move on. No hard feelings here and I don’t want to hear no more crap about affirmative action, welfare, hip hop, ebonics or anything else. Be lucky thats all you have to worry about and not a modern day revolt… :)
6) Can we please decide if there is going to be a separation of Church & State or not? Can’t have religion in schools, but yet we have In God We Trust on our currency, One Nation Under God/indivisible, and put our hand on Bible in court. Whats it going to be? I think a lot of our issues with children would be solved if we allowed religion back in schools. I don’t care if they have moments of silence, peace rooms, or whatever. What in the world negative can come out of it??
So that’s just a little bit of my platform…yeah I decided to run like in 2032 or something.

Silver State Bank Is Closed; McCain’s Son Had Served as Director
BY DAVID ENRICH AND DAMIAN PALETTA
U.S. state and federal regulators on Friday shut down Silver State Bank, the latest in a series of bank failures.
Until recently, the son of Republican nominee Sen. John McCain sat on Silver State’s board and was a member of its three-person audit committee, responsible for overseeing the company’s financial condition.
Andrew McCain left the Henderson, Nev., bank July 26 after five months on the board, citing “personal reasons.”

Questions for Gov. Palin:
1. The Republican Party platform states that America will stay on the offense in fighting the Global War on Terror. The definition of “offense” is to maintain the operational advantage by dictating the terms and conditions of the next engagement. If that is the case, then what is next?
2. Define the Surge and explain whether it has been a success, and why.
3. Gov. Palin stated that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac failed because they had “gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers.” As that is factually incorrect, ask her to explain what she really meant.
4. Gov. Palin is a self-described reformer, and a key event in this narrative is the way she handled the Bridge to Nowhere. Ask her to explain how this fits the definition of reformer, when she actively sought this earmark, hired lobbyists to pursue funding, praised her staff when the funding was obtained, and then kept the money for other projects (to include a Road to Nowhere) when the project was cancelled.

How come this is not covered by the media about Mr. Obama?
The involvement of convicted felon Tony Resko in the purchase of Obama’s$1,300,000 home.
His despicable association with his friend William Ayers, who was on the FBI’s Most Wanted list for over 10 terrorist attacks.
The fact that at age 25, Obama was backed by a radical Muslim activist close to the Saudi royal family when he applied to Harvard Law School.

keep it simple stupid!
8 years we’ve lived with a president WITH experience and here we are…
Obama has no experience you say? Hum.. Insanity = doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. Open your mind to change. Is what you’re doing really working?

There are certainly a lot of particulars like that to take into consideration. That may be a nice level to convey up. I offer the ideas above as basic inspiration however clearly there are questions like the one you carry up where the most important factor might be working in trustworthy good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged round issues like that, however I am sure that your job is clearly recognized as a good game. Each boys and girls really feel the impact of only a second’s pleasure, for the remainder of their lives.
