Obama Watched Palin Speech
HARRISBURG, Pa. — Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., watched just a "little bit" of Gov. Sarah Palin’s, R-Alaska, speech last night, his top political strategist David Axelrod told reporters today.
"As she proved last night, she’s deft at going on the attack," Axelrod said. "For someone who makes the point that she’s not from Washington, she looks very much like she would fit in very well there. When you see how she brings these attacks, it all felt very familiar to Americans; we’re used to this kind of thing from Washington."
When asked if it’s challenging to respond to attacks from a woman, Axelrod said that they respect her, she’s a skilled politician, and they are more than happy to respond to her or anyone.
"Sen. Obama is taking the whole thing in stride," Axelrod said. "To be very honest with you, I don’t think he expected gingerly treatment. I think he understands they don’t really have a record to run on, and this is what politicians do when they don’t have a record to run on."
Axelrod said that Palin’s claim last night that Obama "is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or even a reform, not even in the state Senate," is false.
"Maybe that’s what she was told," Axelrod said, "but she should talk to Sen. (Dick) Lugar (R-Ind.), talk to Sen. (Tom) Coburn (R-Okla.), talk to the people across the aisle in Illinois where he passed dozens of major laws to expand health care reform, welfare, reduce taxes on working families. So, you know, I think that she had an assignment and she discharged it."
Axelrod called Palin’s assertion a "blatant distortion on fact."
"There wasn’t one thing that she said about Sen. Obama or what he’s proposing that’s true," he said of her description of Obama’s proposals.
Axelrod downplayed the significance of how Palin and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani belittled Obama’s time as a community organizer, helping citizens on the South Side of Chicago deal with the closing of a steel mill.
"I’m not concerned about that," said Axelrod. "That may seem like time poorly spent for Rudy Giuliani, who gets paid millions of dollars to keep low cost drugs from being imported into the country, when he’s working as an agent for (the pharmaceutical lobby) Pharma, or you know, some of the other chores he’s done for corporate America. But for everyday people, the notion of rebuilding communities, of helping people when plant closings happen, deal with issues like health care and education and job training –- that seems like real work. It may not pay the millions of dollars that Rudy gets shilling for Pharma, but it is significant work."
Axelrod said the speech was "red meat for the base," but he doubted it would appeal to independents, since the speech said little about what the McCain-Palin ticket would do if entrusted with the White House.
"If you believe the Rick Davis notion, not about anything substantive –- it’s all about personality -– and maybe they do believe that, then I’m sure they’re happy" with Palin’s speech, Axelrod said. "But ultimately, the question is, ‘Where is the McCain-Palin ticket going to lead the country?’ And it is backward not forward."

Question for Axelrod and Obama, who is smart enough to know…
Isn’t there a distinction between “passed” and “authored?”
It’s their version of being Assistant (to the) Manager, I guess.

For the last year the Obama campaign has been a distortion of fact after fact about his opponents. He has no real acheivemements yet, he just wanna do this and gonna do that—–

I love the hypocrisy of all this. She’s all about “Don’t talk about my family, don’t talk about my family!….by the way here’s my family, here’s my family again…and did I mention I have a baby with special needs?”
Get real.

They “respect” her? Yeah, that’s why the Obama keeps demoting her to being the Mayor of “Way-silly.”
If they truly respected her, Sen. Obama, his campaign and its surrogates would address her by her current title, Governor. Seems like subtle sexism.

That’s the problems within the Republican party.
The only way you’re considered a patriot is if you’ve served in the military and fought a war.
There are many ways to serve your country and Obama did just that after graduating Harvard. He went to Chicago to help the poor. He gave them a voice and it’s sad to watch Giuliani and Palin just wash that aside.
No gains in the polls

There have always been strong woman in society, even before feminism and gender studies, etc. My grandmother was a strong woman. My mother is a strong woman. And so is my sister. While I always admired Hilary Clinton, there was something about her type of feminism that turned me off. Sarah Palin however is a woman I can identify with completely. She has my vote and I am an minority woman.

Palin is unmistakably “the gift that keeps on giving.” After listening to Palin’s speech yesterday evening, I have to conclude that Sen. Obama is absolutely correct in his analysis of this campaign: the Republicans want to make the main issues “experience” and “personality” to distract the voters from their abysmal record of few accomplishments of the past eight years, instead of focusing on what they intend to accomplish over the next four. After all, what could you possibly expect from a political party, 71% of whose convention delegates believe that Bush is doing a great job as President? This election should clearly be about us and where our country is heading and not about “experience,” “personality,” “hockey moms,” “POW’s,” “community organizers,” or the price of tea in China. If we voters allow McCain and Palin to skate on the thin ice of their “personalities,” then we will have done our country a grave disservice!

Disgusting speech! Belittled every American. To think all those contributions and time to food banks, United Way, Red Cross, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Churches, Soup Kitchens, Homeless Shelters, Habitat for Humanity, Useless, meaningless. Being a Mayor, Governor, Vp is where one actually gets something done.
What cold , bitter, narrow minded. individual she is.

Palin does not believe in sex education in schools, only abstinence. Her own family is proof that that theory is ridiculous. What are her other theories? We don’t know. All we know is she can read a speech someone else wrote for her. What is her educational background? Has she ever been to college? Will some reporter PLEASE ask her that?

Maybe I watched a different speech, but I thought she came across as arrogant, self-important and gratingly sarcastic! Let me say that I am a woman and she did not make me want to vote for her or McCain, but rather RUN in the other direction! The entire night was full of vile, disgusting speeches from Rudy (most disgusting) Mike and Mitt. If this is what the Republicans stand for, they don’t stand for me! Obama-Biden ’08!!!

Obama: “I realize that I am not the likeliest candidate for this office. I don’t fit the typical pedigree”
Give me a break. Obama is more status quo, IVY league, slick lawyer than most candidates have been. Go tell it to Harry Truman. He broke the pedigree rule.

The real question is…
Do people believe what she said, separate from the way she said it.
We know most of them will never fact check her thin content. But I was watching Barbara Walters on ‘The View’ today and noticed the crowd was pin-drop quiet after Barbara read from Joe Klein’s article about what Sarah Palin’s actual record is.
They hadn’t heard about the bridge she supported, censoring the library, Iraq war as a gift from god…she had another comment about sending her son to it that wasn’t flattering to McCain or Bush (not mentioned on the show.)
We’ll see how well the facts are distributed, and how clearly.

She mentioned nothing of the economy. All she did was personally attack Obama. That’s not hard work. It doesn’t prove anything that she sold that plane on ebay. Angie, your question about whether Trig had earplugs in that noisy arena is an insinuation that Sarah Palin is a bad mother. Sarah Palin refuses to testify in Troopergate. That feisty librarian some guys think is hot would turn on them in a heartbeat.
“Today, Governor Palin’s aide Frank Bailey who was put on paid state leave for making a recorded phone call to Alaska State Trooper Rodney Dial in an attempt to get the governor’s ex brother in law, State Trooper Mike Wooten fired, was scheduled to be deposed by independent investigator Steve Branchflower.
However Bailey lawyered up and cancelled his appointment. This is unfortunate and shows the Palin administration is no longer cooperating in an investigation that they have promised all along to cooperate with.” Andrew Halcro.

I could take this statement to mean that McCain really isn’t an extension of Bush. In my book you can’t say that McCain would be a third Bush term if they don’t have a record to run on. Bush has an extensive record, which is why I haven’t and wouldn’t vote for him, but John McCain has his own record, and while not completely to my taste it is the better of the choices we have now been given.

Did they steal that from the democratic convention too? Just because Palin has ovaries doesn’t mean she’s qualified. Palin can create waves. Waves in news media. Waves in opponents. People love to talk about this womAn. That is a change. Newspaper, magazine, Bloggers are making by writing about her, News channels are discussing about her. Now this is a “Change” and in contrast- How many of you even remember “Obama” or “Joe Biden” speech in DNC convention? I bet the only ripple I saw in the DNC convention was about How Hillary did her job? Her Speech and Her Body language. This two guys did not even create a “ripple” and needed “Hillary” to create that. How are they going to in White House?

The double std arises. So, it is okay for Obama to ignore her credential as governor, and purposefully misname her hometown “Wasilly,” but not okay to point out that he overplays “community organizer” (who his own boss from that time admits achieved nothing)?

They’re pushing a woman to go out there and fight for them because they can’t fight there own battles. That’s pretty sad really.

I lean democrat but watched the whole RNC. WHAT IS THERE PLAN? VISON? How are they getting us out of the war how are they preventing future wars? How are they going to fix our economy? immigration? Health care? Social security? Anyone hear any of this brought up maybe I missed it? They demanded it of Obama they should demand it of themselves as well. They need to own some of there failures instead of blaming everyone else, then formulate a plan to move past those failures and prestent it.

You people are such idiots. You really believe the Republicans have your best interest at heart. They dont give a darn about you unless of course youre in the top 10%.
And I dont think that includes hardworking blue collar voters. Yet you continue to fall into there traps, and there popularity contest, and everytime they trick their way back into office the American people suffer. History shows you that, every time a DEM is in office. America as a whole does well.
You People never learn from your mistakes. Can you honestly look yoursleves in the mirrior, or look into the eyes of your kids and say that you are doing better today than you were 8 years ago.
Are we safer today, with the Taliban stronger than they have ever been before and spread into almost 60 countries including the dying contintent of Africa. were they have billions of young, poor, starving children and young men just waiting to be recruited by them cause they can promise them a meal and a place to lay there heads.
Did invading Iraq and spending billions of your tax dollars on a daily basis do anything to really help AMERICA other than screw up your economy, and make people hate you more.
Are you ready for the World War 3.Can your already strained and tired troops afford to serve another commander that doesnt believe in diplomacy. A commander that says we must attack them before they attack us, eventhough we werent provoked. A commander that refuses to sit down and try to work our way out of WAR.
Is this what America stands for? People wake up.
And by the way, If expirence is the only thing that makes a person qualified to be great leader, then why is The Terminator(A Republican) the Governor of Californa.

I saw some of Gov. Palin’s speech last night. She did well for someone who didn’t get much time to prepare. She said what her fellow party members wanted to hear. She took shots at her opponent. She did what she was supposed to do. She didn’t say anything that made me say “Wow, I’m voting for her”. As well as she did last night, her speech didn’t change the fact that when I filled my car with gas this morning, it was a lot more expensive that it should be, & given the fact that her husband is a big time oil executive, I don’t see her really being concerned with us little people & our gas concerns. Her speech didn’t address the rising costs of a college education. Her speech didn’t change our country’s situation in Iraq. Her speech didn’t change our country’s housing crisis. Sure, she laid into Barack Obama. Does it really take anything special to do that? In the end, Gov. Palin gave hope to a party that was in desperate need of it, but did nothing to address the issues of this country. It appears that this the game plan of the Republicans, ignore the issues & tear into Obama & Biden. She’s talks tough & that’s fine, but don’t cry sexism when her opponents talk tough back to her, which I’m hearing a lot of. I want to hear some solutions to these problems, I don’t want to continue to hear rip jobs, which the GOP is doing a lot more of than the Dems. I question her judgment, to jump knee deep in an hotly contested presidential election when you have a very young, special needs baby & a pregnant teenage daughter at home. I saw a lot of “Family First” signs in the GOP crowd last night. Is family really first with Sarah Palin? She has 5 kids & only 1 is grown. Who’s raising the kids, the big time oil executive husband? I doubt it. Some people don’t mind having nannies raise their kids. I believe in raising my kids myself. She did good last night, but she didn’t change my mind. The Republicans have torn this country up. It’s time for something new.

Let’s see: Ms Palin who is gov. of Alaska a very rich state cuts funding for special needs children. Ms Palin was/is a member of a group that wants to secede from the U.S., Ms Palin pressures the local library to ban books she doesn’t like and threatens to fire the librarian, Ms. Palin uses her influence to get her ex brother in law fired, Ms. Palin makes her pregnant daughter take the stage to care for the youngest of the brood, and then gets upset when people ask questions. Ms Palin is a member of a church that’s very vocal on their opposition to those of the Jewish faith. There’s much, much more on this women that is coming out, whether it’s the MSM who may whimp out, or over the web.

They still need time to figure out how to respond. Meanwhile, the Obama people who could not talk about issues before he copied Hillary’s, are suddenly all about issues. Too bad! John McSame has destroyed himself by abandoning every principle that bought him the chance to be President. I was one of those Democrats, who was suckered by McSame into believing that he might be what he said he was – a Maverick willing to break with the G.O.P. whenever it was wrong, which was on about every issue. I even wrote to McSame, begging him to run, when given Kerry/Edwards as an alternative to Bush/Cheney. NO MORE. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. I won’t be fooled again. McSame’s choice of Palin to be a heartbeat away from the toughest, most critical job in the world is the final nail in a coffin I could see being constructed long ago. In light of McSame’s impulsive, reckless, and dangerous decision to pick Palin as his running mate, I’m now convinced beyond any doubt that Sen. Barack Obama must be the choice to lead my country. I simply can’t stand by and watch the country I love being destroyed by Bush/Cheney and now McSame/Palin. I think a majority of my fellow citizens will agree with me as will be shown on Nov. 4, 2008. Please check out any college-level history book on the Holy Roman Empire and you will learn how Pontius Pilate came to be a “governor.”
Positions such as his, in remote places far removed from Rome, were handed out as “punishment” in those days for non-accomplishment and bad deeds back home.
In the early days of the American frontier, similar appointments were made by U.S. Presidents for newly acquired U.S. Territories. The further away from Washington D.C. that you were assigned, was usually an indication that the appointee had somehow fallen out of favor with the administration.
Pilate was not a “governor” elected by his constituents, and he definitely did not have an 80% approval rating.
While I agree that Jesus was in many ways, a “community organizer,” Pilate was in no way a “governor” in present context.

Sarah Palin is widely seen as a dangerous joke outside the US. McCain is seen as antiquated. Obama as uplifting and the hallmark of a new and prosperous relationship between the US and the globe. Biden as a foreign policy guru.
I know Americans hate it when other people make observations about their country and politics, but for those of you who understand that the world doesn’t consist of us and them, but only us and that we are in this together, I thought it might be nice to have an outsider’s perspective.

In a Thursday morning conference call for reporters organized by the Democratic National Committee, Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius pushed back against the idea that Republicans have cornered the market on small-town American values.
“I live in the American heartland, and have been a governor [here] for six years,” she said. “I don’t know any mayor in any small town in Kansas — and we have a lot of mayors of small towns — who hires a lobbyist and goes after earmarks the way Sarah Palin did.” On Tuesday, the Washington Post reported that, as mayor of Wasilla, Palin secured more than $27 million in federal earmarks for a town with only 6,700 residents.

Shultz also questioned Palin’s readiness to lead. “To say that her experience as a mayor of a town of 7,000 people … makes her qualified to have her hands on the pillar of American foreign policy, if God forbid anything happens to John McCain, to suggest that is frightening,” she said. “What kind of experience does Sarah Palin have to sit across the table from negotiators of the dangerous countries of this world?”

Hey Samnatha,
The GOP convention has 36 African Amereican delegates, the lowest number in 40 years the surveying has been taking place.
A CBS poll found 5% of delegates were Hispanic, the lowest percentage since 1996.
Its a new strategy by the GOP called Invsibile Diversity

Digging through Wasilla’s municipal records is a lesson in the very essence of tedium. You’ve got pages of proposals to rename streets, assess sewers, build skateboard parks, buy lawnmowers, rent “pop” machines, carve snowmobile trails, congratulate high school football teams — the kind of stuff that makes small towns run, but leaves you glad that someone else is running them.
Every once in a while, though, something pops up and grabs your attention. Take, for example, Wasilla City Council Informational Memorandum 99-62, prepared on June 14, 1999. This little gem outlines some of the state-funded projects that Wasilla City secured that year, including $1.2 million for storm water treatment and $605,000 for pedestrian pathways.
Then, slapped in the margin, former Mayor Sarah Palin — reformer extraordinaire — scribbled the following message:
FYI This does not include our nearly one million Dollars from the Feds for our Airport Paving Project.
We did well!!!
As Laura pointed out earlier, John McCain didn’t think so. Indeed, The LA Times reported that McCain was criticizing Palin’s earmarks at the time that his now-running mate was securing them. It’s revelations like these that can quickly erode candidates’ maverick reputations.

Palin’s speech was written by GW Bush’s speechwriter Matt Scully; she didn’t write it.
Obama probably watched as much as I did–the first minute and a half to get a sense of her style, presentation and reception reading it later for any substance. None.
Factcheckers are finding it full of lies and misstatements.
As to her style, it will kill me to watch the VP debate–having to listen to that whiney, grating, mean mouth knowing that Joe Biden has to take her seriously in front of the cameras.
That poor man.
But that is The Joker for you–Country Last.
Here is someone almost no one has ever heard of (Palin) who strode onto the international stage and has taken it away from McCain. His speech tonight is irrelevant (look at the ratings).

Palin had a speech that was written before she was chosen that she read last night…
and then “tweaked” after they chose her
unfortunately even after tweaking she still lied.
she still goes into hiding…
where is she …this great leader who oversees the most undiversified state government in the union? the government that is oy… secure and no risk because of the oil industry and the overwhelming amount of government subsidies out of the union…
the state whose legislation is only active 90 DAYS of the year to which she sat working with them for 20 months…oy…
the state that pushed with Palin for a bridge…that never came to pass but they kept the money that the federal governemnt gave them…oy
this woman is not only inept…mute outside of reading 2 speeches that were written for her…
she has had 2 count them 2 investigations into her abuse of power and cover up… one resulting in a law suit.
great speech… entertaining and fun…
too bad it’s like Robert Downey in the late 90′s playing a DEA officer.

No Jo, Sarah SAYS she’s done all those wonderful things. And they turned out to be false.
She did NOT oppose the Bridge to Nowhere; she supported it.
She did NOT oppose earmarks; she worked HARD to get them to her town and her state.
She did NOT oppose pork-barrel spending; she hired lobbyists to get as much as possible.
She did NOT decrease government; she increased it.
She was NOT a fiscal conservative; she left her town with a 20 millions in debt.
She did NOT clear the corrupt Republican Party in Alaska; in fact she chaired a committee in support of the most corrupt one: Stevens. In fact, Sarah herself is in some serious trouble over abuses of power.
Need I go on?

Biden’s speeches are plagiarized, so how does this “someone else wrote her speeches” mantra help Obama?
And both NBC and MSNBC said that Obama lifted entire sections of An American President and West Wing for his convention speech.

Palin said all the things Hillary wanted to say but couldn’t.
Just think–If Obama had a backbone and hadn’t been so worried Hillary would have outshined him, there would be no Palin right now.
McCain would have been forced to pick an old Washington insider kind of like Joe Biden.

People who work a PT job after leaving there fulltime job, and then another PT job on the weekends. Just so they can take care of there families under Bush’s economic policies. You know the one McCain is behind 110%.
I know a solider who shook hands with President Bush, then went on his 5th tour of Iraq, lost both his legs, and came back to the USA as a unemployed American hero, and our government is giving him the run around regarding his benefits. Country First?
I know people that are still struggling to rebuild 3 years after Katrina. and the levee’s still aren’t totally fixed. Wouldn’t you think that would be a priority, considering what happened.

Thanks Tim:
I am an ex-democrat and I finally realized why they want more federal money…secretly all these “community organizers” and vote rallyers all want cushy gov jobs promoting programs for the underclass…it is secretly selfish.
I have met and worked with many of these types of people. They are well-intentioned, don’t get me wrong. But to tout the credential as if it is anything of importance is overstating it.
Plus, guess what you have to do to get into Harvard…they love it when you punch the box that says you have roots in the community or a bunch of community service…hmmm. Ambition anywhere in there?
One last thing…I have seen, first hand, law students go from low class to elitist over the course of three years, so elitism is possible no matter who your parents are…especially if you are shooting for the top schools, which is elitist in itself. Obama is an intellectual elitist, not a class elitist. I have met and been condescended to by his type, and they were not of any particular race. I smell their ambition a mile away.

Are you unaware of Supreme Court rulings since 1963 and legislation proposed augmenting Equal Pay?
McCain Opposes Equal Pay Law
By Juliet Eilperin
NEW ORLEANS — Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who skipped a Senate vote seeking equal pay for women last night in order to campaign for president, said he opposed the measure because it would prompt a flood of lawsuits.
Senate Republicans defeated the bill yesterday on a vote of 56 to 42, by blocking a full debate and vote on the bill. Democratic Sens. Hillary Clinton (N.Y.) and Barack Obama (Ill.) both returned to Washington in order to support the measure, which is aimed at responding to a recent Supreme Court decision that sets a deadline on how quickly workers must sue over pay discrimination.

In one of politics great paradox, even when most officeholdres in Congress have approval rating near the 50′s, Congress ratings are always poor.
Of course that’s nothing like Bush’s legacy of poor approval ratings. Bush is so hated in this country the Republicans almost didn’t invite him to Minnesota, restricting him to a video appearance before primtime.

Obama showed pretty good judgement when he oppossed the Iraq War, and I believe he said the war would cause dire economic issues for Americans, and we would suffer many losses.
Guess what. It happened.
Expierence means nothing if you dont have the common sense to use it properly.
I mean George Bush has a lifetime of expirence. He came out Of the great state of Texas as one of the most popular governors of all time. Yet all that expierence led us to where were at today.
A poor economy, eventhough
McCain says it just fine.
An Education system that is making it harder for our children to compete with people like China.
A weakened military, that can only get people to join, if they are promissed huge bonuses.
And more enemies around the world, including an unstable Pakistan, one which the Bush Adminstration provided with nuclear weapons.
Where’s the commone sense? Say what you want abt the community organizer, but the Iraq war can be traced to every major issue affecting americans.and he told you people that from the beginning.

The bill would unjustifiably amend the Equal Pay Act (EPA) to allow for, among other things, unlimited compensatory and punitive damages, even when a disparity in pay was unintentional. It also would encourage discrimination claims to be made based on factors unrelated to actual pay discrimination by allowing pay comparisons between potentially different labor markets. In addition, it would require the Department of Labor (DOL) to replace its successful approach to detecting pay discrimination with a failed methodology that was abandoned because it had a 93 percent false positive rate. Thus, if H.R. 1338 were presented to the President, his senior advisors would recommend that he veto the bill.

Andrea, about my question concerning placing a baby in a noisy arena, I do not have a problem with Sarah Palin’s credentials to be vice-president. I think being a governor is certainly enough to be a VP. I do have a problem with her judgment. I think it is wrong to use your children for political gain (especially one so young. That convention hall was deafening!) and it is hypocritical to complain about the media criticising your parenting skills when you tout motherhood as one of your main assets for political office. I also don’t think it is a good thing for the Obama children to be used for political theater. Kids are not props, either for the Democratic or the Republican Parties.

I am sure someday that young man will see that tape and be glad that he was visibly a part of history and that very important moment in his mom’s life.
The trouble with BOTs is that fairness has no part in your repertoire of fear. I am fine with Obama’s kids being on stage and I don’t accuse him of exploiting or endangering his kids. The reason folks are getting on Palin’s case is the hypocrisy that is inherent to the Republican party. I think it is written into their somewhere. “Do as I say not as I do”. Democrats have their hypocrisy too but the reaction to Palin’s bringing in her children is more about making a mockery out of Republican so-called family values and conveniently they are forgotten by Republicans when they stand in the way of ambition.

Palin ticked off the Alaska GOP by running to the right of them.
If you are too conservative for a state Republican Party in Alaska… you probably will be too conservative for the rest of the country.
Sure, they try to make her out like an everymom… but she is a hard-right ideologue… more like Michelle Bachman or Jean Schmidt. The GOP is fulling these “rising stars” who really are just hyped and backed by well-heeled interests of the party, looking out for future leaders to dump on our heads. GWB was the same… he was new, different, inspirational, etc. But to close observers, you could see he was beholden to those who “made” him. Palin’s the same.
As this sinks in, McCain is going to see his polling numbers sink.

If you had ever seen Senator Obama give unscripted responses to candid questions you would know that the man stammers and stumbles all over himself in that scenario. Broadcast events with him responding to questions are staged to make him look far better than he is. And no, he did not write his acceptance speech. He does not write any of his speeches, and in fact, content of a good number of his speeches is not even original, but rather has been “borrowed” from speeches of other notable politicians.
I have no doubt he will give a flawless performance tonight on the O’Reilly show. Having refused repeated invitations to appear on the show for months, apparently O’Reilly has finally given in to Obama’s demands of a scripted interview. Obama would never agree to do the show otherwise. If he did, he would be exposed for the fraud he is.

After reading these entries (when I should be doing something much more productive) I am really struck by how people can come away from last night with 2 completely different takes on what actually happened. But, for those who have blinders on, here’s what actually happened last night:
1. A GOP-groomed politician with no real substance and off-the-map radical social policies read a speech off a teleprompter that was written by somebody else for somebody else. She read it well, hit all the write pauses and applause lines, but it was recitation nonetheless.
2. This politician was picked by another politician – one who is aging, outdated, and doing whatever he feels necessary in his last chance to succeed. This includes placating a ultra-conservative, ultra-religious wing part of his party that really he does not agree with, but is willing to side with for political expediancy.
3. Rather than pursue an honest discussion about issues of consequence to this country, which would require knowledgable, experienced, confident discourse, she resorted to name-calling and insults. No policy, only pandering.
So, where does that leave us? Well (and I’m paraphrasing here), when the cloud of rhetoric dissipates, and the words end, and the soaring speeches are over, we’ll see her for what she truly is: an empty (pants)suit. And all her so-called historic candidacy proves is that a woman can be every bit as hateful, close-minded, and misguided in her vision for the country as a man.

The blogs seem full of questions about what Community Organizers do. Well I don’t know about Chicago. But I can tell you what they do here in Albuquerque, n.m. They usually come around every Saturday morning knocking on doors and asking for hand outs of groceries, food, money or anything that is useful. They are also looking for newcomers to the area (especially poor people from Mexico). They hand out brochures printed in Spanish and English with a lot of important phone numbers, police dept., ambulance, who to call for free medical service, schedule and location of local city park parties (where there is free commodity hand outs, free hot dogs for the kids) and the location and phone numbers of the local welfare office. Also these brochures list all the things you need to take with you to apply for welfare. I am so damn sick of picking these things out of my rose bushes and flower beds every week. I am not knocking any one, I have not voted in 50 years, and will not vote this year. I could not live with my conscience. Just telling you what a community organizer does. At least that is what they are called here in Albuquerque.

Off the subject here and a break from politics, did people see the little daughter of Sarah lick her hands to comb baby Palin’s hair.?? This probably was the best NON-political moment.

Indy Voter: I think you are a confused man. Obama stutters and hesitates before answering questions because he doesn’t know how to answer them. He has to think first. Its a good thing he has Biden to think for him or he would be in a mess like this country will be if he is elected. Both Obama and Biden are the biggest joke of the democrats.

Samatha: Yes, Obama did throw Hillary under the bus. He, Pelosi, Dean and Reid talked to the superdelegates about their voting. I would take bets on it that they promised them favors for voting Obama. Pelosi was so feared that she told Hillary to count only 32 states and cancel the roll call because she suspected Hillary would win over Obama. The DNC are underhanded and worse than a rat. Especially Nancy Pelosi who whats to be the woman in charge. I hope McCain wins this election and the republicans take back the house.

rodney: You must be short of hearing. Palin’s son enlisted on his own. She doesn’t not tell her children what to do if they are old enough because they would feel like kids.

Palin/McCain…I think he’s the VP. I feel sorry for you folks that just don’t understand that McCain doesnot care about this country. You must see McCain revealed on CNN. Obama is has a stuttering problem. His stammering is not dishonest and calculating. You must check-out McCain and Obama revealed on CNN. This country is in really bad shape. War is not not
what’s up. Bushes dad bought him a Yale degree. The boy does not have a clue. Obama can get the job done. You will see because he is going to win.
