Obama’s ‘Change’ Slogan Gets a Change

ABC New’s Sunlen Miller reports: Hey, what happened to "Change We Can Believe In?" Barack Obama has suddenly changed his campaign slogan and signage replacing the 19 month Obama campaign event staple with a new one:  "Change We Need." The new slogan slowly started debuting after the convention but wasn’t fully debuted as a package until this weekend in New Hampshire.  The new campaign slogan is coupled with a new podium donning the familiar – yet slightly different – message, new campaign signs, and a large banner on stage behind Obama. The colors, and design are the same – and could be quickly overlooked, yet the message is an important one that the Obama campaign is trying to push: that Obama is the change that now not only should you believe in, but it’s the change Americans need because of the state of their lives over the last 8 years under a Bush presidency. The slightly retooled slogan and message is something the Obama campaign has planned on slowly incorporating since Obama officially accepted the Democratic Party’s nomination in Denver late August. "There’s a real distinction between more of the same and the change we need and so that’s a part," Obama’s Chief Strategist David Axelrod says of change from the old slogan, "It’s not that we’re moving away form it, but we’re incorporating it." Senator Obama – speaking to a "Change We Need" rally before a "Change We Need" podium, as "Change We Need" signs waved in the audience – told the New Hampshire crowd that, well he is the change they need. "Understand this Manchester, if we are going to bring about the change that we need, we have to understand what change is." All this change comes at a time when the two candidates are arguing over change. "We can’t be fooled because John McCain – I’ve been talking about change since we started this campaign- some of you were involved. I talked about change when we were up, I talked about change when were down," Obama told the crowd of 1,700, "But now suddenly John McCain and his running mate Sarah Palin, they’re out there saying ‘we’re for change.’ ‘We’re for change too.’  Well I’m glad that they now agree with me but we’ve got to change America." But let’s be absolutely clear about what change means – change isn’t just a word."

HOw fortunate you Americans are to have such a gifted candidate.
After 8 years of Bush, I thought America was doomed. Of course, you could still elect Mc Cain. And then, it will be curtains. And you will deserve what you get.

Therefore, Obama has changed his slogan. Could it be that he never really planned to change anything except his title. His pick for the V.P. says everything – no change. We will have the same old Washington or worse IF he is ELECTED and not selected by the DNC.

Can I just comment on how ridiculous this call for change is? You want change? No way, I was the first person to call for change. Your change is fake! My change is real! I am glad you want change too, but it doesn’t count!
I have to laugh when he says “But let’s be absolutely clear about what change means – change isn’t just a word.”
And then he proceeds to not describe what change means.

“Change” as Obama has been inspired by is not the “change” McCain/Palin speak of.
Here are the roots to Obama’s change, straight from yet another “mentor” in Chicago. Funny, if you google Obama Sal Alinsky, you also find Hillary there as well.
This, from an article from the UK Spectator, Melanie Philips explains the concept:
This prompted the Obama campaign to issue a pained defence of community organisation as a way of promoting social change ‘from the bottom up’. The impression is that community organising is a worthy if woolly and ultimately ineffectual grassroots activity. This is to miss something of the greatest importance: that in the world of Barack Obama, community organisers are a key strategy in a different game altogether; and the name of that game is revolutionary Marxism.
The seditious role of the community organiser was developed by an extreme left intellectual called Saul Alinsky. He was a radical Chicago activist who, by the time he died in 1972, had had a profound influence on the highest levels of the Democratic party. Alinsky was a ‘transformational Marxist’ in the mould of Antonio Gramsci, who promoted the strategy of a ‘long march through the institutions’ by capturing the culture and turning it inside out as the most effective means of overturning western society. In similar vein, Alinsky condemned the New Left for alienating the general public by its demonstrations and outlandish appearance. The revolution had to be carried out through stealth and deception. Its proponents had to cultivate an image of centrism and pragmatism. A master of infiltration, Alinsky wooed Chicago mobsters and Wall Street financiers alike. And successive Democratic politicians fell under his spell.
His creed was set out in his book ‘Rules for Radicals’ – a book he dedicated to Lucifer, whom he called the ‘first radical’. It was Alinsky for whom ‘change’ was his mantra. And by ‘change’, he meant a Marxist revolution achieved by slow, incremental, Machiavellian means which turned society inside out. This had to be done through systematic deception, winning the trust of the naively idealistic middle class by using the language of morality to conceal an agenda designed to destroy it. And the way to do this, he said, was through ‘people’s organisations’.

This reporter hasn’t been paying much attention–the slogan wasn’t “suddenly” changed—speaker after speaker at the Democratic Convention referred to “the change we need”. Definitely not a coincidence. Also, “the change we need” signs were all over during Obama’s acceptance speech at the end of the Convention.

Kerry you really need to climb out of that narrow, right winged tunnel you live in and open thine eyes. Barack has stated he is a chrisian, not that that means anything good, but even if he were muslim, so what? Religion, or lack there of, should have no impact whatsoever on the presidency…SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE… the only way to do it properly. Somebody who cares

October Surprise? Lawsuit Claiming Obama Not a US Citizen
A Lafayette Hill lawyer who filed a legal challenge to Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential candidacy claiming he doesn’t meet U.S. residency requirements had a motion for a temporary restraining order denied Friday.
Though the motion was denied, Berg said he was encouraged that Judge R. Barclay Surrick did not dismiss the lawsuit. The litigation also sought “expedited discovery.”

Wade…I was at the rally in NH today. Obama said that change isn’t just a word…and then he went into gory detail about each issue and how he would change it. If you want the details go to his website.
What is McCain going to change? He has no specific plan for anything. His ideas are vague and non-specific. His idea of fixing the energy problem is “drill, baby, drill”. His idea of fixing education is to just give out vouchers but not to fix No Child Left Behind. His idea of fixing the unfair tax code is to give the biggest tax cuts to corporations and the wealthiest Americans. McCain’s plans are eerily similar to George W. Bush’s.

You know all that money, from oil, that’s going to our enemies? Get this: if we “DRILL BABY DRILL”, that means the money (AND JOBS) get to stay HERE! What a concept! With all those extra tax dollars that your government makes on each gallon of gas (way more than big oil by the way), we can afford to fund the welfare programs of the left (which, btw, are what has us in record deficit, not the war).

kerry – give it up already. No one really believes that anymore, at least not people who are literate. This is the biggest non-issue for those of us who are trying to turn this country around and make it a country for the people and by the people. With McCain and Palin in power we can see the drip, drip, drip of our downfall, from the economy, to jobs, to healthcare, to education, to the environment, to the basics of our constitution such as the freedom of religion, to getting along with the rest of the world. At this moment we are the laughingstock. No politician is perfect and that’s probably the nature of the beast, but it has been said that McCain is running the most despicable campaign of a personal nature that anyone can remember in recent history. Spare me the character assassinations, Mr. McCain and Ms. Palin, and stick to the issues that affect my life.

Btw, I think Americans like working for corporations. The work = JOBS. We like jobs and we would like to ATTRACT corporations BACK TO American since they left because of their 35% tax bill.
Also, food for your little brain: Ford Motor Company, that’s a US company is doing great abroad and has a car that gets 65mpg. We cannot have that car in the US because of government regulation. Hmmm. GM is doing GREAT abroad too!

Just because you talked about change first doesn’t necessarily means you stand for change.
You didn’t change Chigago politics, which is the most corrupt one in America. You are the most liberal senator, according to your voting record. You chose Biden as your running mate, whose sun is a lobbyist. You don’t represent change, so stop acting like one.

Obama cancelled his SNL appearance NOT because of Hurricane Ike, BUT because so many people were making fun of him… saying he needs to leave this race and become one of the cast instead.
He’s becoming one big joke.

Posted by: tim | September 13, 2008, 2:32 pm 2:32 pm

obamamama…your information is false. The Tax Policy Center, a non-partisan economic group, did a comparison of the McCain and Obama tax plans and Obama’s was determined to be much better for those making less than $250,000. There are no tax cuts for corporations in Obama’s plan. And if you want to believe in the trickle down theory go right ahead. It can also be argued that if the American people are better educated, they can compete better in the global economy, then they can make more money, and buy more things. And yes, the American car companies are doing great abroad because they pay people poorly in other countries. They don’t have to worry about regulations that might keep workers safe or pay them a fair wage.
And deregulation did wonders for the energy(Enron)and finance (Fannie May/Freddie Mac) companies didn’t it?
So continue to spread your lies, I’m sure some people will believe them, but that doesn’t make them true.

As a replubican women and a nurse I am thrilled that this organization endorsed Obama. I am sorry I do like Palin and I will can not trust her as a president.
Yesterday, the American Nurses Association officially endorsed Barack Obama for the 2008 Presidential Election. The ANA represents the interests of the nation’s 2.9 million registered nurses.
“As President, Barack Obama will bring real change to our health care system,” said ANA President Rebecca M. Patton, MSN, RN, CNOR. “Nurses are consistently voted the most trusted profession by the American people, and we, as a profession, trust that Barack Obama will see that affordable quality health care is made available to everyone.”
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the American Nurses Association,” said Sen. Barack Obama.
“The nurses of America serve our country tirelessly, and I share their belief that we must bring affordable and accessible health care to all Americans. My plan lowers health care costs for the average American family by up to $2500 and finally makes health care work better for American families than it does for the drug and insurance companies.”
“Both Senator Obama and Senator Clinton spoke at ANA’s House of Delegates in June about the need to move forward in unity to bring about real, much needed change to our health care system, and our nursesresponded; ‘Yes we can’” Patton added. “Nurses represent the largest group of health care professionals in this country, and working together, we can use our power in the voting booth to make health care a priority, and make Barack Obama the next President of the United States.”
Senator Obama is committed to signing universal health legislation by the end of his first term in office that ensures all Americans have high-quality, affordable health care coverage. Barack Obama recognizes that nurses play a critical role in every aspect of patient care, and the nursing shortage ranks as one of the most pressing issues facing our health care system. Obama’s health care plan includes expanded funding to improve the primary care and public health practitioner workforce; including loan repayments, improved reimbursement and training grants.
Barack Obama has a history of advocacy for nurses and patients. In the Illinois senate, he helped lead efforts to protect nurses and improve the quality of health care. In the U.S. Senate, he cosponsored the Safe Nursing and Patient Care Act, which limits mandatory overtime for nurses to true emergency situations, and as President, he has promised to sign this important legislation into law.
ANA has been making presidential endorsements since 1984. The endorsement process includes sending a questionnaire on nursing and health care issues to all of the Democratic and Republican candidates, an invitation to all of the democratic and republican candidates for a personal interview and an online survey of ANA’s membership regarding which candidate is most supportive of nursing’s agenda.

Barack “shape-shifter” Obama confessed that rescinding President Bush’s tax cuts or raising new taxes will hurt the economy. (Associated press, 2008) He has amazingly shape-shifted into a tax cutting republican, but don’t hold your breath, in a second he will shape-shift into something new. The new slogan should be “Now you see me, now you dont”.

Apparently, the “change we need” is mocking a man for being unable to type because of injuries from being tortured in Vietnam.
Oh, sure, the Obama campaign didn’t intend to do so when they made the ad. But it’s still linked to from the front page of their website right now, most of a day since the Drudge Report carried the story. Every minute the ad is left up now is a minute the Obama campaign is knowingly mocking McCain for injuries he suffered under torture as a POW.
It’s utterly despicable, and Barack Obama approved of that message.

obamamama (sic):
Thank God for the google, which led to this:
“A user has been editing the page to say that “Rules for Radicals” was dedicated to Lucifer. This is not true. Please give a citation if you’re going to make such claims. The book is dedicated to “Irene.”
71.221.89.250 05:16, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
On the following page there is a jesting reference to “Lucifer,” but to call this a dedication is to take it entirely out of context. Alinsky was known to be a character, even once suggesting a rally where everyone ate lots of baked beans and went into an Opera House for the rich. He called it a “fart-in.” Although some might call this “confrontational,” it’s actually quite funny. Laughter has quite a cleansing effect on the soul. On the same page with the Lucifer jest there are also quotes from Thomas Paine and Rabbi Hillel.”
As a proud “community organizer” myself, not just with the Obama campaign but also a long history with Vietnam Veterans and otherissues you conservatives scoff about, I detest your rant against organizing from the bottom up, though I do realize this is a foreign concept to you Repugnants.
In spite of conservative whining to the contrary, Jesus WAS a community organizer, and the work he did 2000+ years ago is certainly a model to look up to. Of course, most of the “evangelicals” (sic) would likely be thrilled if the bible stopped with the old testament.
The bottom line continues to be the question of whether we as a nation can afford four more years of what we’ve experienced over the last eight years. To me, the clear answer is “Heck NO!!!
No Way, No HOW, NO McSAME!

Baracks close friend Bill Ayers (politico, 2008) once said, “Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, Kill your parents.” Then on 9/11 he went on to say, “I don’t regret setting bombs, I feel we didn’t do enough.” (New York Times, September 11, 2001). In the 1990s, Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn introduced barrack obama to “neighbors” during his first run for the Illinois Senate. Obama’s association with unsavory characters is extremely troubling. When is Barack going to explain ‘Public Allies’. Public Allies is a Chicago organization of taxpayer-funded protesters. Barack Obama founded Public Allies in Chicago in 1992, and Michelle Obama became the executive director. The group uses taxpayer dollars to entice kids to sign up for Marxist indoctrination. The Public Allies paid members spend most of their time protesting and despising this wonderful country. Public Allies teaches the young adults that work for them that America is a racist, oppressive place in need of “social change.” – (Hollywoodgrind.com, 2008), (publicallies.org, 2008)

O’Reilly’s interview wasn’t bad. He hit a lot of topics. Not much room for each, but we wanted to hear short answers. Obama talks too much. Thinks too much. Just spit it out.
Didn’t like Obama’s views on his associations, or his views on tax-and-spend (even if he says it’s a tax cut -it isn’t really, just redistribution). I did like his ideas on diplomacy – I always said to make him an ambassador to the UN.

Yes! Much more so than the Senator who woted ABSENT over 35% of the time.
More so than the Senator who “in good conscience” couldn’t support tax cuts for the rich, but now that he’s a candidate, thinks they’re a great idea.
More so than the guy who has:

Obama’s *change* is born out of the communist manifesto (Zimbio, 2008). He entends using Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals as a guide to implement *change* through social engineering and deceit.
A common theme in Obama’s rhetoric is…
“From each according to his ability, to each according to his need” which, by the way, was Karl Marx’s slogan.

Here’s the read deal: McCain is cool. Not hip cool, but cool. He’s afraid of nothing. Not The View, not Obama, not Putin, nothing. He’s Chuck Norris. He rules.
Obama is interesting. He has ideas but can’t articulate them. He’s afraid of his wife, public opinion, and Mayor Daley. I don’t like that. He’s getting tougher but it doesn’t suit him. His ideas aren’t developed enough which makes him sound idiotic. Too bad.
Palin. I like her. She has charm and she’s a tough little rabbit. Can’t look away. Time bomb. But I think she loves her country. Very important. Did she lie? Don’t know. I think she’s trying to put on a face for us, which is not advisable. She should remain true to herself. Still, a good politician.
Biden. Where did he go? Is he still on the ticket? lol.. jk.. Tough guy so I like him. More hotheaded than McCain makes him a liability. Smart, loyal, a good guy. Should be a Conservative but oh well.

Posted by: tim | September 13, 2008, 3:10 pm 3:10 pm

It’s not about the person. It’s about the republican party that supported Bush from 1999 to 2005.
We need to get the conservative and the conformist family values crowd out of the White House. We need liberals that fully get that you can’t drill, drill, drill into mother nature and not expect her to fight back.. her latest.. sending Ike. Amerca it’s time we preach abstinence in invading the earth.
We need more liberals who understand that Obama was providing service to country in his younger years just as much as the children that sign up for our military. We should be applauding this not making fun of it.
We need more liberals that don’t spew raciest words of hate sprinkled with lies based on the color of one’s skin and their ancestry to win. I believe I am no more or no less an American than the people who gave their oath to America yesterday when they became US American citizens. We should not reward their discrimination by voting with them.
We can not as a country take four more years of republicans with their so called conservative values in control.
The Republican party wants America to do to Alaska what we did to our gulf coast. Look at that area of our country today. What will we do when mother nature fights back in 20 years after will drill, drill, drill Alaska and our other shores. That’s nature and cause and effect at it’s best.
Vote DEMOCRAT.

That said, we need to be clear: McCain is not Bush. His voting record is NOT 90% with Bush, but more like 74%. It’s too bad that McCain doesn’t point this out more often, but he wants to avoid the word “Bush” altogether.
McCain would be good for us in a lot of respects. Not s ogood in others. Same with Obama. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. But Obama’s economic policy is not mine, so no go.

i usually dont reply to extremists like you, but what exactly do you think mother nature was like before we drilled for oil?! you think we get hurricanes as a sign to “get those oil rigs out of the water”?! what happens when we put all the windmills up? she isnt going to like that either ya know… lol

tim, as a 20 yr veteran, I have seen McCain’s bs firsthand. So I’m not one of these kids you all refer to on the boards.
Obama has worked hard for the PEOPLE in this country. He has put forth bill after bill for consumer protection, Veterans, Education, Katrina Relief. McCain has worked hard to keep his Social Security and maintain his 8 homes.
I’ll shout it to the roof tops…John McCain is no patriot, he’s nothing but a disgraceful liar.

Posted by: LA in Indiana | September 13, 2008, 3:17 pm 3:17 pm

Thanks, Tim. Keep up the good work. Looks like McCain will win. The problem for Obama is really his associations. If more liberals were honest instead of hypocritical, the Dems would’ve won in a landslide. The problem is twofold: (1) They’re angry. Still on the 2000 Bush Supreme Court election decision. Still on 2004 Bush in Ohio (BTW, Wisconsin was closer). Still thinking Bush is a monkey when he’s kept us safe, begun stem cell research, done more for AIDS than we might have expected, etc. (2) They’re crazy. I have not seen so much nuttiness since the 60′s. Obama should’ve run as a Buckley Democrat- quiet, disassociated, intelligent.

Posted by: TommyF | September 13, 2008, 3:19 pm 3:19 pm

Tim at 3:07…it is being drug out too long, but if Obama had agreed to the 10 town halls that McCain has been requesting since June, we’d all know who we want to vote for….although, I’m thinking 85% of know by now.
BO has no cashews (Jessie cut them off). He runs and dodges, just ask Hillary. Needs script and prompter. He came AFTER McCain at Columbia the other night and nuanced his answers to sound like McCain’s…”best and brightest”, “serve a cause greater than yourself”…these are McCainisms.
Send this clown back to dirty Chicago politcs….from where he came.

tim, for McCain to put out that ad saying Obama wants to teach kindergarteners sex, is a disgusting lie. The bill is to help children protect themselves against sexual predators.
Maybe we should start calling McCain an advocate for pedophiles.
The other rethuglican lie, that he called Palin a pig. All you guys do is distort and lie. And you’re the same people that expect everyone elses kids to be honest and upstanding citizens.
So if you can do nothing but distort like McSame and his sidekick, then don’t respond. See, its called a two way street.

Just a bit more on liberals. If they could hold their tongue more, they would make sense. Unfortunately, libs have big mouths. They sound (and many times are) fascists who want a minority rule, or an impenetrable moral wall. They come off as hypocrites screaming about free speech as they shout you down. Look… we all have a point of view, but liberals have no monopoly on sense… or nonsense.

LA in Indiana: Let me articulate what we feel like on our side of the fence.
Sex Education to Kindergartners: (1) Obama DID sign the bill. (2) It IS sex education. (3) It was mandatory without parent’s permission. (4) It included other language not related to teaching about sexual predators. Your information may be faulty. Research more.
Pig with Lipstick: (1) We KNOW Obama didn’t mean it, just like McCain didn’t mean it about Hillary. (2) The AUDIENCE, however, went WILD, indicating that THEY thought it was Palin – we are outraged at the AUDIENCE. (3) No, we can’t read minds, but any fool can see how they went nuts, and then how Obama pandered to his response by going further about fish in paper. Obama is better than that. He’s weak – he bows. It’s not cool.

Debra: The Dems had this in the bag. Literally. Hillary had a much better chance vs. McCain – she knows the ropes, how to control and politic, and she’s tough.. much tougher than Obama. The Dems sold out their party with the Superdelegates choice. yes, Hillary voted for it, and it backfired on her – she took the bait and paid the price. This primary was fixed for Obama in 2004, as long as he could keep performing. He has, so he wins over Hillary.
Now, he meets McCain. He cries foul, but he is a crybaby. His own party has rigged in his behalf, and he worries that McCain called him a bad name. Obama responds by calling McCain a “liar.” Very bad politics. You NEVER call someone a liar, especially over the very small perceived insults thrown his way.
The problem is, the Obamaniacs feel his supposed pain. “Not again!” they cry. But, yes, again. It’s inevitable. “It’s Karl Rove!” they say. Of course it is, did you expect any less? We on this side of the fence value our future as much as you do.

Tim, people like I.A.T. Smith come on the boards and dominate the space. They shout down. They look bad. They make Obama look bad. The worst bases on the Republican sides are the ill-informed (they say “rubes”) and the zealots (they say “warmongerers”) and the greedy. The worst on the Dems, however, are the Leftists, Marxists, and very loud militants. Nobody likes these people. THAT’s why the Dems lose – it’s their own fault. They can’t help it.

Doesn’t matter 85% of Americans know who they are voting by now and we’re not changing our minds…and the undecideds will see the strength that is McCain as POTUS. What libs fail to realize is that most of the country is conservative. Conservatives HATE war since is interferes with the economy by running up big tabs. Conservatives HATE taxes since it stops businesses from increasin wages and offering health care. Conservatives HATE wasteful spending (not every earmark is wasteful). Conservatives HATE when the three branches of government overstep their bounds. McCain talks a good game. Palin is the real deal. She isn’t perfect, and the Left hates her, but she is a Conservative. We LOVE her. No amount of lib diatribe will change that. You would have to convince us that she is a liberal before we would change our minds.

ODE TO OBAMA # 15
Now Obama is a man of change
And that covers a rather wide range.
In order to make amends,
He changed all his friends
Which most find to be quite strange.
His slogan he now changed to read
It now says change that we need.
He’s again changed his mind
Like the blind leading the blind
Which shows that he’s not ready to lead.
That the man is rattled is quite plain
’cause his comments were met with disdain.
He made a nasty dig
About lipstick on a pig,
Now it’s a shoo-in for Palin and McCain.
YEA!!! GO PALIN GO MCCAIN

When you see a campaign changing their campaign slogan you just know they’re feeling very desperate. And they should be. But it’s a stupid slogan. All Obama offers is bigger government, more government spending, higher budget deficits, higher taxes, a weaker economy, higher inflation, and a weaker military. That is not the “Change We Need”. That’s the change we need to avoid at all costs.

The only way Obama wins is IF the ignorant youth turn out in droves for him and some voter fraud, which I am expecting….there will be some cheating on the BO side.
This election is McCain’s to WIN AS THE BEST CANDIDATE, and Obama only wins if the Dems stay true to their party and all the Hill supporters don’t shift to McCain/Palin….so far there are 20% of them. They may not be loud now, but they will be heard in the voting booth when they pull the lever for McCain/Palin.

Tim, I would disagree that libs have no personal responsibility. They do in their daily lives but not in their public opinion. This causes them to appear as hypocrites. Look at Al Gore: he wants us to conserve and use alternative energy, yet his home is a black hole on energy use, and his many vehicles belie his stances. You may cut him a break, but you must still do that to make him look good.
Like Obama: he promises equality while he lives in the best areas of Chicago. I begrudge him no success.. now he must stop begrudging me mine.

The difference between a liberal and a conservative. A liberal is successful and feels guilty about it. A conservative is successful and feels blessed to help others. A conservative hates when a liberal tries to force him to help someone out of guilt.
A liberal is upset because he has not succeeded yet, and wants to point a finger. A conservative is someone who has not succeeded yet but believes that his own determination, God’s Will, and a few lucky breaks will do the trick.

Obama need to be the center of attention is clearly obvious. His ego driven campaign has driven his supporters on his side claiming he is the agent of “change” That’s what candidates run on when they have nothing substative to run on.
His total lack of experience and knowledge of issues facing the “bitter” middle class is so far removed from his, Obama is clearly an “opportunist” with his own agenda, not to change anything, but the driven power of his own ego.
Most Americans, especially the “middle class” has caught on to rhetoric and spin. Obama is not a leader of most Americans, he is in this race for one reason only, himself; and his blindsighted supporters are enabling the Obama circus to continue.
Obama has managed to “dumb down” his supporters into falling for his “empty words”.

FREEDOM & LIBERTY are too precious to give up!
—————
So you vote for the party that has taken away our civil liberties? Too funny! Great rationale there Mr American Patriot.
Health coverage for everyone does not mean the same thing as socialized medicine. It means those who can’t afford it, will still be able to seek medical care. That isn’t soicalism pinhead, it’s just a change in the structure of health care.
Repub’s are always first to put the “socialist” label on anything that helps the masses. Then they start waving their flags. Oh, how patriotic.
Under McCain’s “individuals buy health insurance” plan, your health care costs will GO UP BY 200-400%! That’s only IF you can get coverage. It wil leave even more Americans uninsured.
Obama’s tax plan and health care plan will benefit 85% of the nation. TAX CUTS for the middle class. (Aren’t Republicans all about tax cuts? Oh, only for the rich. Got it)
Under McCain’s “plan”? Only the wealthiest people in America will benefit. Yes, I feel sorry for the mutili millionares who will actually have to pay the same percentage of their income that I do now.
So quit with the BS McCarthyism crap.

McCain is not in control of his campaign– his “Bush” handlers are. They chose Palin and tried to prepare her for her ABC Charlie Gibson V.P. SAT exam which she failed. McCain’s campaign kitchen cabinet is in control. Their message is out of line with Mac’s personal philosophies. He’s a pawn in his own pawn shop. The right wing, conservative, gun brandishing, neocon, religious extremist who call themselves Rush Limbaugh evangelicals are telling him what to do.
After Catwoman joined the Penguin, he receded into the background and has been placed on mute. It is so obvious. If he cannot control his campaign, how can he control the White House?
That is the question.
Obama is going to win this with Biden by his side!

A young energenic populust leader was promising “Change” in the 1950s too. The US doesn’t need to make the same horrible decision with Obama like the Cubans did with Castro.
The US needs change alright. It needs to eliminate all the Federal entitlement programs used to buy votes, restrict spending to what’s outlined in the US Constitution, and cut taxes across the board. Obama’s plan does none of that and will only slow the economy further by increasing taxes and making our businesses even less competitive than our competitors.
Sorry Mr Answer. Multi-millionaires are paying a much higher percentage of their incomes in taxes. If they were paying the same rates as you, it would be a major tax cut.

Right to Chose? “yes I agree with a woman’s right to make choices about her body, well not now that I’m campaigning”
“Please respect the CHOICE my daughter made, but YOU shouldn’t get to make that choice”
“We will call out all those who ask for earmarks. I asked for MILLIONS, but no one should”
“We must put an end to lobbyist influence. Yes, I hired a lobbying firm to get MILLIONS in earmarks for my town, buit no one else should be able to do so.”
“He has no experience. Meet my VP, she can see Russia from Alaska”
“I fully supported George Bush on ALL major issues. I’m really different than George Bush.”

” Real Change is Mc Cain Palin”
Obama is out of touch in my opinion and very petty. It takes expierance to run a couMr. Obama I find it very offensive that in this time of need. During this tragic time of Ike and train collisions, loss of lives you find it necessary to impugn Mc Cain’s reputation and character saying he is out of touch. I feel that at this time you need to control you immaturity and think of the “Country First” like Mc Cain does. You deeply sadden me.
ntry he does not have it.

Posted by: rubylee | September 13, 2008, 4:37 pm 4:37 pm

As i’ve said it’s about the party, not the person.
All this he’s this, He’s that, she’s this, she’s that is nonsense. Once elected they do what “the Party” bids them to do.
Republicans had full control of our country up until 2006. They are the main contributors to our current state. Congress and Senate changed in 2007, but had limited control with Bush still at the helm. So from 2007 on Bush didn’t go with the country on issues he went with his party platform. Their (the Republican’s) goal was to make the current congress totally ineffective in preparation for 2008. It worked. Congress, senate and the President were rendered useless because of the party balance. We lost two more years. This is why we have elections every two years within our branches of government to change the balance of power.
Bush was given the greatest opportunity for change that we’ve had in decades. He made the same speeches (on reform) in 2000 and 2004. Look what his party did with it. We still have political party divide over what’s best for America. Play sound-bites from Bush’s speeches in 2000, then play McCain’s. It’s what they do after the win, not what they say during the campaign.
As a country we were in better shape from 1993 to 2000. It’s the party, America.
McCain, from the same party that bought you Bush!
Hold the party accountable, now.
I don’t buy this “under new management” shingle being played out to get my vote.
Both sought their party’s endorsement.
I’m shopping Democrat because the Republicans have lost touch with the folks they are attempting to lure into four more years. The Republicans can not have control of the man on the top this time around.
Vote DEMOCRAT!

This election was the Democrats to lose. Guess what… this is the beginning of the END of Obama. He should have waited another eight years to run for President. But no, he wanted it now, not later. He’s fizzled like a fireworks dud.

McCain would like to be called a lier than loose an election. He has turned for the worse, the maverick has gone real low. He is now a lier, and he does not care that people knows it. He should be ashamed. How can people in America see this and still vote for him? should he win we will deserve what will follow under his leadership. The world looks on as how USA from world leader has turned into a shadow of what it was. This is sad for our children, other countries will be the leaders we once used to be. We do have time to change we need with Obama and Biden it is a chance, but one that I will take. This over three liers like Bush,McCain and Palin.

“Palin’s office approved a state job for a friend and campaign aide with whom she shared a land investment, financial records and interviews over the past two weeks show. She hired a former lobbyist for a pipeline company to help oversee a multibillion-dollar deal with that same company. She named a police chief accused of harassment to head the state police. And she sent campaign e-mails on her city hall account while serving as mayor of Wasilla — conduct for which she later turned in an oil commissioner on ethics charges.”
Although the McCain-Palin duo now rail against earmarks, the AP looks at the earmarks Palin has requested in Alaska. “Palin has sought $197 million worth of earmarks for 2009, down about 25 percent from the $256 million she sought in the 2008 budget year. As mayor of tiny Wasilla, Alaska, she hired a lobbyist to seek federal money for special projects. Wasilla obtained 14 earmarks, totaling $27 million, between 2000-2003, according to Taxpayers for Common Sense.

The media is doing to McCain what they did to Hillary. They act like McCain is the only one running negative, less than truthful ads. Whenever you focus on McCain why not be fact and check Obama’s ads too.
This is fair and doesn’t make it seem like McCain is the only one running negative ads.
Finally, has anyone noticed that the press has not had one positive spin/strength of Palin’s? You would think they could come up with something.
The women on the View were over the top with McCain.

Watching Barack Obama on the Oh’Really?! Show last week — and having to sit through some of his crap before the interview — reminded me why I hate Faux News and avoid watching Oh’Really?! and Hamity like the plague!
Most of Oh’Really’s?! show was his diatribes against everything “left-wing” as though Democrats do not outnumber republicans this year and Bush’s approval rating was double what it actually is.
Knowing that some people actually sit through all his wasted hour explains a lot — that segment of America is brain dead!
And, of course, we see the impact on these boards, with idiots constantly cying “muslim” and “ayers” and having little else to say.
Obama’s refining (not changing) his slogan speaks to me of the “Fierce urgency of now, represented by the short time between now and the election and the need for the voting public to really think about what a vote for John McSame and Sniveling Sarah Palin means to the future of this country and our children and grandchildren.
Enough of McSame/Palin’s negative campaigning. Enough of the failed Bush/Cheney politics and McSame’s plans (or lack therof) for more of the same.

Cindy McCain’s family wealth is not McCain’s problem and this is not class warfare
————-
You’re kidding right?
Obama is standing up to help 85% of the country. The middle and lower class in America who have been shafted for eight years by an administration that consistently created rules to benefit the wealthiest 2% in our nation.
Have Republicans actually READ McCain’s economic and health care “plans”?
I have yet to understand how any working class American can think this guy would be good for them. It, again, only benefits the rich.
But you get the government you deserve. If we as a nation are really that stupid, we deserve four more years. Grumpy and Beauty Queen will make us the laughing stock of the world, but who cares?
You can keep allowing the defense contractors and oil companies to record record profits (as they have for four straight years now). I’m sure Ms “I built a pipeline as my nation security experience” isn’t cozy with oil companies right?
And this pair is “different” from Bush and Cheney how?
[I should note that no pipeline has been started under Gov Palin, but we'll let her misrepresentation of her credentials stand for the moment. Republicans don't care when they are lied to anyway, as long as it sounds "Americun" when you say it.]
If the GOP once again fools Americans with their no-substance red-white-and blue rhetoric, at least my “don’t blame me, I didn’t vote for him” button will still be useful.

When fighting against McCain’s Karl Rove squad, staying on the high road is a lost cause. Obama/Biden must focus on the double talk and outright lies being spouted by McCain/ Palin. It is doubletalk to say McCain fought Republicans when he voted with Bush 93% of time on all major issues including war, taxes and healthcare. The Rove people are experts at using propaganda techniques like the Big Lie, but Obama/Biden must hammer home the truth: McCain is a Bush Republican: “You can’t throw the bums out if you are one of the bums”. Obama received the excellent advice that to win it is not whether you can take a punch that counts, it is whether or not you can give one. In the waning weeks ahead, Obama/Biden must follow three tracks: (1) Expose the McCain/Palin lies, (2)Get out the Obama/Biden policy message (3) Deliver hard direct blows at McCain/Palin as fake mavericks playing the American Idol game. In American politics, candidates to who don’t fight back with iron fists lose to Swift Boaters and Willie Horton ads and Rove’s specialty, The Big Lie.

As a follow up to my l,at post, The Big Lie was a technique widely practiced by Josef Goebbels, propaganda expert who worked for Hitler. The technique, adored by Rove, is to repeat a lie so often that it becomes incorporated into the fabric of the information being fed to the public. Eventually, the Big Lie is accepted as fact. McCain being for Change and fighting Republicans is a good example. Palin having lots of experience is another example. McCain/Rove will be serving up many more before this battle for the hearts and moinds of the elctorate is over.

Any more FALSE claims?
McCain has no problem tossing a microphone around or using a pen. But for some reason, he is unable to use a keyboard because of his war wounds? Uh, sure, that makes sense. Couldn’t be another line played to the media to cover up his shortcomings could it? Naw, the Republicans NEVER lie about their credentials. (Try to say Palin with a straight face)
McSame can’t use a computer because he is from a generation that didn’t have them. He did not WANT to learn how to use one. He never saw the need.
Can you please milk the POW thing more?
Is that the reason he can’t think of a single idea to help the country other than talking about events that occured 40 years ago and have no relevance to our nation’s problems? War wound right?
I guess we should just let that slide then. He was a POW after all. That means he should be President.

A little trivia about what a wonderful person John McCain is:
John McCain’s first wife, Carol was a beautiful swimsuit model. She stood by John and raised his children while he was a POW. During this time, Carol was in a severe car accident and was permanently disabled. When John returned from Vietnam Carol was no longer pretty enough for him so he spent a number of years cheating on her with numerous women until he met Cindy, there was speculation that John was having an affair with Cindy while still married to Carol, oh gosh, surely not, not John, in any event he applied for a marriage license 90 days before his divorce was final with Carol, should suggest something was amiss.
Cindy is 18 years younger than John and has a very nice large “piggy bank”. I am sure John could care less if it was wearing lipstick, after all, it was what that was inside that piggy bank that interested John.
If we take into consideration John’s infidelity record, he has most likely had lipstick smeared all over him during his numerous affairs, I can think of no better example than that of “Lipstick on a Pig”!!

The McCain/Palin have run such ugly campaign even people that I know are republicans are disgusting and voting Dem. It is really sad. Why is it Tim, Tommy F, Debra that instead of having a nice debate on the issues, you resort to name calling? Why can you tell yourselves to talk about the issues. We are at a crossroad where we need to think and reflect and make a decision on which team is going to advance the future of our country.
1. Education: are we able now to compete globally? Which team is going to bring us to the 21st Century and looking forward?
2. Economy: are we really better off now with these policies now implemented than 8 year ago?
3. Security: are we really safe in this world knowing all the loophole that Bush has open up.
4. Energy: have we made any progress on handling to lessen our consumption on oil?
5. Real Estate: homes in foreclosure?
6. Banking industries: no regulations?
Which candidate answers these questions?
Reflect on these issues.
I am asking because I am an American and electing someone to office is an serious business because the lives and the future of my children and my grand children are at stake. Get off your selfish mind and think as an American as a person who want good for the country.

More importantly, folks are trying to tell us that we should elect Palin as VP based on OJT and osmosis (like living “close” to Russia) — kinda like saying we should let the stewardess (or steward) fly the plane because they’ve been in so many planes, and the pilot sat down with them for hours to explain aerodynamics!
No Way, No HOW, NO McSAME/PALIN!

I VOTED FOR AND DONATED TO HILLARY. THE DAY SHE SUSPENDED HER CAMPAIGN, I SWITCHED TO McCAIN. EVEN IF OBAMA HAD CHOSEN HER FOR VP, I’D VOTE AGAINST OBAMA. I AM NOT A PARTY/POLICY LOYALIST. I AM A PART OF THE 50% OF THIS COUNTRY WHO VOTES FOR PRESIDENT ON EMOTION, LIKE IT OR NOT. AND I FEEL OBAMA WOULD BE THE WORST CIC IN HISTORY. I WILL NOT VOTE FOR HIM JUST BECAUSE HE’S BLACK….GIVE ME A BETTER BLACK CHOICE. I AM NOT VOTING McCAIN JUST BECAUSE HE CHOSE PALIN (THO I COMMEND HIM ON THAT FIRST EXECUTIVE DECISION).
NO ONE ON THESE BOARDS IS GOING TO CHANGE ANYONES MIND. WE ALL KNOW WHO WE ARE VOTING FOR. I AM NOW WORKING FOR THE McCAIN CAMPAIGN IN MY LOCAL OFFICES. I MISS HILLARY AND LOOK FORWARD TO HER RUN AGAIN IN 2012.
SHE AND BILL ARE ALSO VOTING McCAIN/PALIN…THEY OWE B. HUSSEIN NOTHING.

Ever notice how Obama failed to take a stand by voting “present” 130 times in the Senate so he wouldn’t have to be held accountable…. It’s becoming obvious to me that his indecisivenous and fear of doing something “unpopular” are bringing him down. He plays his cards “close to the vest” because he’s afraid to show his “true colors”. He wants to appeal to the moderate independents without alienating the liberals. He’s in over his head, and he knows it.

Obama, once again, is trying to play catchup to President McCain. Just by him continuing to “change”, shows that he’s a flip flopper and not worthy to be president. He doesnt know how to set a precedence and stick to it. America doesn’t want NoBama…its evident!

The electoral votes will be what this comes down to….only a few states determing our popular vote…kind of like superdelegates/popular vote that didn’t help Hillary.
It’s a shame that only a few states will really determine our next Prez.

For the folks that called “me” an extremist in a tin hat.
First you don’t know me enough to say that. I believe that’s the line that you’re using for Palin right now. So let’s stop making it personal.
I am explaining my reasons for voting Democrat.
I remember watching the towers come down live on 9/11 and wondering how Bush will use this to go to war with Iraq. I was not wrong, he did use it.
I watched, Colin Powell address the UN on Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq in mobile units. I thought I really don’t think so, but trusted Colin. I don’t believe I was alone here. At one time I thought he’d make a great president. Bush and the Republican party destroyed that chance.
The American public was told half truths so we’d support Bush in his Declaration of War on Iraq.
Where are all the people that caused this mess from 2001 to 2006? Hiding… because the party does not want McCain linked to them via the party line. You don’t hear about them voicing support for McCain. Those that do, only come out against Obama, to stir up the falsehoods on him. From there, folk’s chime in on blogs with words of hate and lies. McCain never puts message to you all to stop the lies about Obama and deal with known facts. So vile lies keep coming.
What I am looking to hear from you all is… Why, after knowing everything the Republican party has done to this country as of late, you’re still voting for this party?
Tell me why I should vote Republican?
Even McCain has ads running touting his opposition to this party to distance himself from their history here?
I don’t want to hear why McCain, why Palin.
We have a two party system. When you vote you vote for the party more-so than the person. That person remains loyal to the party. There are a few exceptions like Joe Lieberman, but what was the word from Republicans when news spread McCain might pick him for VP? An Independent Democrat on the Republican ticket? The party set McCain straight right away on that.
McCain is a full member of the Republican party.
I am a democrat. I am a liberal. But, I am not a fool.
It’s the party folks. Vote DEMOCRAT.

Lasandra,
I think we are talking to the McCain smear machine. They still believe that American cannot be both white and black. If they have a smart brain they will only take a look around America and see the change. We always know that a dominant party will never want to give up their power. That’s what so scary for them. They know that their time of controlling people lives is at hand. So much negativity is coming out of their mouth that you are asking yourself ” are they Americans?” “Do they really love their country?” That should give you pause.

Change? Obama is anti-change. He has run the exact same old garbage political campaign as we have seen for decades. His political views are vintage liberal as well. It’s truly funny to see this snakeoil salesman trying to con the masses with the “change” mantra. The only change is the color of his skin. Too bad he doesn’t have the GUTS to run on his true views in stead of this “change” nonsense. But then, socialists do tend to lose elections.

I am tired of those who would seek to malign Obama based on the rhetoric of his pastor and yet these same people overlook the words that came out of Sarah Palin church in regards to Jews. First, let me state this fact…I am not seeking to elect the next high priest or priestess to the White House…this is a job for Caesar and those of faith should not get confuse.
I am a born again Christian and yet may express my faith differently than others…I do not recall a verse in the Bible that instructed me to elect a pontius pilate based on the Apostle Creed…I was told to go into all the world and preach the Gospel. I fear that many who hide behind the Bible and wrap themselves in hatred and hypocrisy to use as a justification to perpetuate racism or any other “ism” is a disgrace to the Name of Christ. WE that are true genuine Christians renders to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and renders to God what belongs to HIM. I am called to love my enemy as myself. An instruction from the throne of God that many so-called Christians..abandon in the name of “purity” which usually translates into mega hypocrisy. Those that try to force others into their “kingdom” (little “k” not capital “K”) for it has very little to do with righteousness as much as exclusiveness and arrogance. I have not seen so much self righteous people who hide behind God and spew out hate as if they can divide themselves into compartments…one that shows up at Church of the “us” and hate those that belong to the “them.” This election is exposing and separating the hypocrites who uses hate and racially divisiveness as an unbalance scale to measure out their rationalization in incremental stages. I will gladly cast my vote for Obama…I am not looking for a high priest ..I do not prostitute my faith as if it is to be mixed with politics. I care equally about the plight of the poor as others has the greater regards for the plight of the infant in the womb…both view points are valid and one is not higher than the other…all deals with life. And I make my decision on integrity and ethics as well….I am not seeking a pope …just a leader who is humane in action and not just words..My country First slogan…should not be a slogan but a rite of passage for all the candidates…but when smear and lies prevail…truth will indeed have the last word. This is so funny! Change we can believe in because he is always changing what he says. We never understood what change he was talking about before, because he never qualified it or gave it any substance. Even when Hillary questioned him on what change he was talking about. He railed against Washinton and those who had been in Washington too long. Now, he picks 36-years in Washington Joe Biden to give him foreign policy experience.
Could it also be that Palin is the new change image and he can’t handle that. Everybody has taken his sound bite away from him! How could they!?
The change we need really is the maverick stances of McCain/Palin, not the new “refined” change stance of Obiden. Change isn’t just a word now? You could have fooled me. “Don’t tell me words don’t matter…..words, just words!”
This is too funny!

Obama is the most gifted leader and politician of our time. McCain who used to have integrity has been telling blatant and outright lies to the american people.
Obama made a wise choice for his running mate who has personally stared down dictators and war criminals and has EXTENSIVE foreign policy experience. The Obama ticket has a much better chance to keep the United States and the world safe than the McBush ticket.
McCain must have been McCrazy for his choice of running mate.
Obama has the guts to go out on the road and speak on his own.
Obama has the vision and high-level understanding of complex business models and of the global economy that will drive the economy of the future.
Do you think that a man like McCrazy who openly admits he does not understand technology will be able to lead the high tech economy of the future? Definitely not.
Obama has real charisma, and has already created change. He has attracted millions of people into the political process for their votes to be heard.
McCrazy has just been telling lie after lie openly to the american people.
People talk about small town america. Small town america will enjoy economic prosperity, and that’s when people will enjoy their american morning, when they can sit down and enjoy a good cup of coffee knowing that the economy is growing, that they (the middle class) have received significant tax cuts, and that their children will likely have a better future than they did.
With McBush the ‘american morning’ and american dream will have disappeared.
Bush did more damage to the economy in the last 8 years than anyone can imagine. Why would anyone want any more of that?
McCain = George W. Bush
Obama is the clear choice for the american future, so that people in smalltown america will be able to enjoy their livelihood grow and expand.

Obama is true to his nature, if you can’t beat them any other way throw insults about a person and especially a handicapped one. He doesn’t know or care that because of thousands of brave men like MmCccain he is free to shoot off his mouth. Maybe a viet cong prison would have taught him a bit about humility and certainly his choice of friends, and how much he is priveledged to live in America where he just might be willing to honor his country with his hand over his heart in front of the flag.

You said:
“Obama has the vision and high-level understanding of complex business models and of the global economy that will drive the economy of the future.”
I’d like to see your sources for this because I haven’t heard anything about his having any degrees in business or economics. Further, I have not seen anything that suggests he’s had any business experience at all, let alone any executive experience.
What I have seen is that he has dodged 130 issues in the Senate because he’s afraid to make any decisions that could later turn out to be unpopular. The man has no spine.

It seems time to change to “Power comes from the barrel of the gun!” That’s the way to fight for your ideals, socialist ideals, just like Chairman Mao did. Show your fighting credentials, Mr. Zerobameus, God of Nothing ness.
Chairman Mao would have been disappointed, abandoning his “Revolution We Can Believe In!”
He would have been proud again, for the first time in his dead life, if Zerobameus borrows his “Power” slogan.

Ehn… Sure, but problem is Yoda is very accomplished. Zerobameus is a self-claimed God of Nothingness, who has zero record of anything; wait, street organizing.
Importantly, Lord Zerobameus knows borrowing, or plagiarizing, depending on the way you look at it. He borrowed Chairman Mao’s Revolution We Can Belive In!, but he at least CHANGED, being a small devil compared to the big devil Mao, Revolution to Change.
Now, he simply borrows from Yoda.

Uh, because she’s lying about her experience, hiding the fact that she’s everything the McSame campaign rails against, and is corrupt and opposes women’s right to choose.

We do not have censorship as they do on the MSNBC. Filibustering is one thing Obama/Biden 08 and other followers do well. Just like the Civil Liberty people. No dialogue without Filibustering. I know there are a lot in agreement because it has so much exposure on non bias channels.

Why does it sound like we are fighting a religious war, in our own country? If you want a Roman Empire, go to Rome. If you what a ‘Freedom of Religion’, welcome to America. They apprear to be to many ‘Radical Romans’ calling themselves ‘christians’, in our good country. Maybe they have very little Faith, in their ideals? Who is the real change? Just keep learning, all You can with an open mind, and make your decision on the final day. By making a decision now, you close yourself to political lies. Stay open minded. I am for Obama ‘now’, but may change my mind at the curtain. I just want a better ran Government, than we have now.

McCain’s attempt to hijack Obama’s message of change is nothing short of a daylight robbery. A brazen attempt at grabbing what is not his!
With his opaque VP in tow, they try to steal Obama’s light. No way, not this time, no McCain, no Palin!

It is unbelievable how many of you commented aren’t aware of the facts. Many of you are focusing on the half-truths or outright lies. Amazingly enough, many of you have the same problem as do the majority of Americans: the Bush economy. Despite, the exorbitant cost of food, utilities and fuel, the credit crunch, the mortgage crisis, the expense of healthcare, the deplorable state of public eduacation, environmental issues that are ignored and the ever increasing unemployment rate, you would rather focus on things that are truly unimportant. Who cares whether or not Obama is a Muslim? He is NOT a Muslim. Isn’t freedom of religion a right given to all Americans including the president-elect? Why can’t you all see this is not about race, gender or age, it is about improving the ecomony and our quality of life. It also means electing a president who has the ability to deliver change. Obama epitomizes change. The “Change We Need” that will make a difference in the lives of ordinary middle class and working class Americans like you and me. Focus on the facts, not your feelings or prejudices. Focus on the issues, not the rumors. Focus on how your life will be improved, not on wedge issues that do not affect your quality of life or the quality of life of your family members. JUST FOCUS!!!

I think the author of this article failed to watch the Democratic Convention. She says the new slogan “Barack Obama is the Change we need” began to appear “after” the convention. Well, Sunlen, nearly every speech given by the Dems contained the words “Barack Obama is the change we need!” By the way, the other thing about those speeches is that they were about American people and how we can dig out of the mess we find ourselves in. The Republicans? Only speeches about Barack Obama with mean and spiteful sarcasm. Not a word about the issues. Maybe Sunlen can do some work on the issues and stop the sideline cheerleader stories. What is your point?
Barack Obama is the change we need because we need a leader like never before, we also need a press corp like never before. Get to work.

how can some of you narrow minded people still believe Obama’s a muslim?? I would hope after decades of decades of rasism this country would change and change is what we need. I think McCain is just tryin to steal Obama’s mantra by claiming to be of change “yeah sure you want change, when you finally woke up and realized that’s what majarity of the country is for.” McCain doesn’t realize and can’t relate to real Americans, because real everyday americans can’t afford 9 homes must less are lucky if they get to own 1!!! McCain and Palin are rich snobs and in secret probably racist.I hope majority of this country realizes this because if they do then,McCain will see how out of touch this 74yr old is!! and the Democrats will win!most of the people in this country are not rich they are poor and middle class so if they come out and vote for someone who supports the workin class. people who actually have to work to survive and need thier jobs and helathcare can’t afford to loss it and live from pay check to pay check these are everyday americans and that’s what those rich republicans can’t relate to. most republicans come from money and don’t understand what it’s like to work for your money and have to work for a living.I am a true blue democrat and hope that all the democrats come out and vote for our guy
Obama!!!!

Let’s not forget what Obama has been listening to for the past 20 years.
Malcolm X’s statement on Black Liberation Theory:
“Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community … Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy.”

I think Mccain’s camp is starting to get into panic mode. They’ve spewed so much lies and negativity, they picked the most unqualified person in history to be the running mate, and despite all of this, polls show obama AHEAD in Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, and pretty much tied in Virginia and North Carolina?
They really thought they could fool the people with their lies once again. Obama’s too smart for that. The gallup and the rest of the polls aren’t true, because they’ve swung towards all of a sudden polling ten percent more republicans, even though there are more democrats. The media’s attempt to pretend that it’s a dead heat, when it’s not.

So much is at stake in this election. Who is the riskier choice?
The Republican – you know the party that is bankrupting us, waged an illegal to killing tens of thousands of innocent people while destroying tens of thousands of lives in the process, diminished our standing in the world, gives tax cuts to the wealthy, does NOTHING for the middle class except tell us lies, and wins elections with gimmicks and name calling
OR
The Democrat -Someone who actually has new ideas of how to change this country around, engage in diplomacy as first option (instead of war, war, war), help out the middle class with tax cuts, get health care to everyone, invest in infrastructure (we need to nation build here at home), strengthen our relationships with allies, green technology which will be sought after by other nations and energy independence to make us less vulnerable.
One is about the past – one is about the future and the stakes couldn’t be higher.

hi as a canadian and an outsider watching this election I am amazed at the blatant double standards that are flying all over the place. Here are my observations:
a) John McCain and is now “change” vision. It seems to me that his “experience” line wasn’t working and now he is using something that Obama was calling his vision since the beginning of the campaign
b) Palin, yes she pleads that the family matters are private issues. Which I agree. Then why was she parading her baby on stage after the Republican Convention? I always thought, that baby should be in bed an not passed back and forth in the stands
c) Bristol’s pregnancy, another private matter. However if this was a Dem’s situation, the Republicans would be crying foul about the permissiveness, liberal culture that is denegrating the society. I find it interesting that now that the shoe is on the other foot, its taking a much more forgiving approach.
d) all the blatant exaggerations with regards to records ie: Obama raising taxes…clearly factually that is not the case. He is raising taxes on those who make $250,000 and cutting those of the middle class.
e) and the “sex” ad that McCain approved of. That is just downright horrible.
I have been watching the prez elections since Carter and I have never seen it this dirty and one sided in terms of attacks. McCain supporters feel free to let me know of where Obama has gone negative I just can’t think of any…

Posted by: sam | September 14, 2008, 1:52 pm 1:52 pm

A) Obama is not a Muslim
B) These conversations are moronic – our country is facing the largest economic crisis since the great depression and you want me to believe that electing a gentleman in McCain who admits to knowing nothing about it and a woman in Palin who barely served two years in a governorship is a great idea – maybe it is but let’s have a constructive arguement here.
C) Giving more tax breaks to corporations is not the answer – trickle-down economics has failed us; we need to try some percolate-up economics for a CHANGE.
D) Quit defending Palin on ear-marks – first of all, not all ‘earmarks’ are bad and they are an extremely small piece of the money doled out by the government. They do help with research and roads and are way of bringining some of the $ back to the states that pay taxes.
E) Arizona gets a ton of $ from the US government returned to the state – more than Illinois – so no wonder McCain need ask for any earmarks.
I thought McCain was honorable – but as a woman watching this campaign I am astonished by how low he is willing to go and by the number of people unwilling to ask pertinent questions regarding an extremely important election…… I will not vote for McCain!

Why did B.Hussein Obama dump Hillary? Why did the media trash Hillary? Why are they all now attacking Sarah? Don’t the American women get it? We are under attack from the far left! It’s time to vote a woman. If the Dems truly wanted change why did they throw 18million women voters into the trash? The media good old boys and the far left only want their cronies to be somebody.

It’s about time women send a message to the media, hot shot corporate news men and sexist men whether Dem or Rep that the American woman are tired of them telling us we can’t do the job. The media big boys smeared Hillary and now Sarah. One was is the Senator from NY and the other the Governor of Alaska. I don’t care what party has the woman. Obviously, it has nothing to with a woman’s point of view, B.Hussein never even vetted Hillary. He couldn’t careless what she stood for. He dumped her and 18 million supporters for a white good old boy drunk. Vote for Sarah

The Dems didn’t have Hillary’s back they put a knife in it. Obama didn’t care about women. He is a bag of wind. Women keep doing more and more of what don’t work. vote for a woman this year Finaly make a change. Who cares about Obama lets show him what 18 million women think about his VP

Posted by: REH | September 14, 2008, 3:12 pm 3:12 pm

Obama doesn’t give a breath about women issues. He had 15 million reasond to choose Hillary. So why didn’t he? He choose an old school typicial male for our VP. Well I say let’s send him 15 millian reasons to rethink his positions.

Change ?John McCain has always stolen ideas…. so this is nothing new…. He should read and find out exactly why there is so much progress in Iraq and it has very little to do with the SURGE. At some point the media who has been p*u*s*s*y whipped by the McCain camp will finally start reporting on Sarah Palin’s record in Alaska.

He needs to speak for himself because his version is exactly what he’s referring to. He also can’t explain his meaning further since he has not really changed anything in his short political life. So, for his supporters, he’s asking you to just take his word for it and hope you don’t ask him what exactly it is he means by change.

Posted by: A P | September 15, 2008, 12:13 am 12:13 am

We need the kind of change a POW collaborator can give us. Only he knows what it’s like to have to make propaganda videos for the enemy and to have to give them classified military information.
Only he knows that once a person is defeated and humiliated like that, it’s easy to see that anybody who doesn’t agree with you is your enemy. Only he knows that the only effective way to deal with those who don’t agree is to attack and defeat them. Only he knows that attacking and defeating all those enemies will be the only way to his own personal salvation. Only he knows that if this then results in the ultimate defeat and humiliation of America, at least some Americans will then be aware that they are no better than he is.
How could you not vote for such a delusional and pathetic individual? The poor man has mental problems and it’s all YOUR fault for not winning the Vietnam War!
So vote:
McCain ’08

Posted by: Martel | September 15, 2008, 12:14 am 12:14 am

We need a man in the White House who really knows change. John McCain has changed his opinions on virtually everything he’s ever mentioned or voted on. He can sometimes change his opinion in one day, then change back to his previous opinion the next day…and then change his opinion again a week later.
He has the experience with change that we need in a president. He can even sponsor and vote for laws that he “strongly” disagrees with a few months later! He can change his opinions on issues depending upon who he thinks might be listening to him, too.
Now THAT is experience and the kind of change we can believe in.

Posted by: Martel | September 15, 2008, 12:34 am 12:34 am

Obama “hopes” we won’t notice how many times he has “changed” his mind.
When will Obama release an accounting of “where” this money came from? How much came from middle-Eastern ‘Muslim’ countries? Will we find out before November 4?
John and Cindy McCain looked very patriotic visiting ground zero, hand in hand. Barack Hussein Obama looked like a guy who couldn’t get a date to the prom. Where was Michelle Obama? Does she really hate America so much that she celebrates the terrorist attacks of 9/11 at home in a turban?
Barack Hussein Obama and his anti-American wife spent 20 years listening to spews of hatred and “God Damn America” in a so-called church of God. Apparently Michelle believes America caused 9/11. All these radical teachings have been instilled in their brains by Jeremiah Wright.
For over two decades Obama turned to, was counseled by, and formed a strong personal bond with a minister who is a divider and a hatemonger. This simply cannot effectively act as a unifying force for the USA.
The best result out of Obama’s campaign may turn out to be progress in the form of all American cultures accepting that each individual, regardless of race, is to be rightfully held accountable for their actions, affiliations, as well as the doctrines that they adhere to and cultivate in others.
The embarrassing litany of anarchy, filth and hate that Rev. Wright spews should not be excused away as simply “the way our people speak”. Wrong is wrong and is not to be determined on a sliding scale according to skin color.
Obama has told too many lies. He has too many ties to anti-Americans and terrorists.
Have you thought about what might happen if Obama really is a closet Muslim and becomes president?
Vote for John McCain in November. Country first!

Obama wants change. Does that mean that he will give an up or down answer instead of “present” 130 times? How about when the telephone rings at 3 AM will he press the “wrong” button like he did six times on crucial votes in the IL senate? See LA Times Jan 2008

“While campaigning in South Carolina during his 2000 presidential run, McCain made such a jarring shift away from his condemnation of the Confederate flag that he felt compelled to apologize for lying once the race was over. As a guest on Face the Nation on January 9, 2000, McCain referred to the flag, at the time the focus of protests by the NAACP, as “offensive” and a “symbol of racism and slavery.” Afterward, according to McCain’s account in his book Worth the Fighting For, his aides pressured him into taking a more politically beneficial stance. “I didn’t want to do this,” McCain writes. “But I could tell from the desperate looks of my staff that we had an enormous problem. And that it could come down to lying or losing. I chose lying.”

I’m sorry but it palpable how many indivduals still look at race and not what really is at state. So many people wanted President Bush and you see the result of that. I do not consider myself to be a Democrat or Republican but when looking at both parties, hands down I am voting for Obama. I am young educated African-American lady and I look at the factor of how John Mccain picked someone who doesn’t know as much as expected for a vice president. Another issue that interests me is that factor how so many people discuss how Biden is never around. Clearly, many of us whether black, white, man, or woman can realized the factor that Vice President is never around. To a certain degree I do believe how asinine we are in general about people in politics. Lets educate ourselves instead of hating and discriminating because one’s sex, religion, and or race.

I’ll move to Canada or England where they believe that everyone is an equal human being, who gives a crap if you are a certain color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, aren’t we all people?
And on top of all of that, the results of this election are not about what is happening now, it has everything to do with the future of our children.
I for one want my daughter to grow up with health insurance, getting equal pay for equal work, and a cleaner environment.

John McCain has sold his soul to the right wing extremists that still run the GOP. If it weren’t for the big money that comes from the George Bush Fan Club John McCain would have conceded by now. Too bad McCain spends the money by spreading lies, smears and conspiracy theories. Time for America to turn off the faucet of deceit that now defines the GOP.

If you are worried about finding affordable health care then you should vote Democratic. If you’re concerned about the solvency of Social Security then you need to vote Democratic. If you want a chance to end the war in Iraq then you MUST vote Democratic. McCain is more of the same old crap.

Posted by: Steve from Danville | September 15, 2008, 5:22 pm 5:22 pm

When John McCain talks about change he means giving money to Chevron lobbyists instead of Exxon lobbyists. Sending jobs to India instead of China. Buying himself another house instead of another condo.

Oh no! Another flip-flop ….of course, I never believed it was change you can believe in…so change we need doesn’t mean squat to me either. Obama tells us we should make sure our children speak Spanish…is that the change we need? NO….English should be our national language and if you live here LEARN it. Each of my three children chose a different foreign language to learn… Spanish, Russian, and French. So, Senator don’t tell me ALL children need to learn to speak Spanish. Again, if you live in America you should have to learn the English language. That’s change WE NEED.

Angel,
If you want your daughter to grow up with health insurance and all the other things, then make sure she studies hard in school gets as many scholarships as possible and goes to college. Then she can have all those things you want for her. Of course, she could also just get on a social welfare program and have all that, too. And hey, she wouldn’t have to study, go to school, or even get a job. All those new social give aways Obama is for will make it possible for even more do nothings to get a hand out.
