Obama’s Plans Tonight

User Comments

Libertarian presidential nominee Bob Barr’s campaign filed suit Tuesday seeking to remove Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama from the ballot in Texas, alleging that the two major candidates missed the deadline for officially filing to be on the ballot.
Now that’s news.

That seems like it will be alot more fun that McCain’s Hollywood Party 2 weeks ago.
Any event excluding Stephen Baldwin vs including him has got to be.

Oh Jake did you mention Palin’s $5.1 M dollar fundraiser Monday with one of Ohio’s greatest job killers?
Oh wait – wasn’t on Drudge. Never mind.

Removing both Obama and McCain from TX? Great, Obama will join Bar as a joint plaintiff.

what no invite for mccain’s 50K a plate fundraiser in south beach last night? or mccain’s tinseltown party two weeks ago?

How fitting it is; a big crowd gathered to see a show of celebrity performance!
It needs some, at least a tiny bit of, substance to run a country, or a company for the matter.
His Nothingness has nothing, unfortunately, at least no record to back him up otherwise.

While Streisand sings for Obama in tough economic times:
A new poll of economists finds Sen. Barack Obama is overwhelmingly preferred over Sen. John McCain by a 66% to 28% margin.
The survey consisted of 523 economists who are both U.S. citizens and members of the American Economic Association.

Impressive Jake. Did you write that yourself or just cut and paste from Drudge?

Barbra’s name is almost the same size as Obama’s and wait … Binden’s name is not even mentioned. Oh well easy mistake.

If the cameras scan the crowds, we just might see Bill Ayers or Tony Rezko…

Conservatism was once a frankly elitist movement.
Conservatives stood against radical egalitarianism and the destruction of rigorous standards. They stood up for classical education, hard-earned knowledge, experience and prudence. Wisdom was acquired through immersion in the best that has been thought and said.
But, especially in America, there has always been a separate, populist, strain. For those in this school, book knowledge is suspect but practical knowledge is respected. The city is corrupting and the universities are kindergartens for overeducated fools.
The elitists favor sophistication, but the common-sense folk favor simplicity. The elitists favor deliberation, but the populists favor instinct.
This populist tendency produced the term-limits movement based on the belief that time in government destroys character but contact with grass-roots America gives one grounding in real life.
And now it has produced Sarah Palin.

Hmmmm what was John McCain up to last night
McCain plans to end the day at a private fundraiser at the Intercontinental Hotel in Miami. Donors will pay as much as $50,000 to have dinner with the Arizona senator.
Still feeling for the working man there Jayhawk?

Posted by: Ryan C | September 16, 2008, 9:24 pm 9:24 pm

Not only La Streisand supports Obama while Wall Street is on the brink of collapsing…
Economist Joseph Stiglitz, 2001 Nobel laureate, supports Obama.
Economist Edmund Phelps, 2006 Nobel laureate, supports Obama.
Economist Dan McFadden, 2000 Nobel laureate, supports Obama.
Economist Robert Solow, 1987 Nobel laureate, supports Obama.

Just ONCE, try and go a day without referencing a story set forth by Drudge. Just Once. It’s amazing the extent to which you people let him set the agenda. Have you no professional pride?

Posted by: KC | September 16, 2008, 9:32 pm 9:32 pm

Well, Ryan,
If you believe that everyone in this country who does not support Obama automatically supports McCain, you are part of the reason Obama has slipped so badly in the polls.
And, if you look at the totals, I believe that Obama has raised quite a bit more money this month than McCain.
It must be the huge number of the working class that are flocking to pay $28,500 for dinner and $2,500 to hear another Holywood liberal sing the blues.
Neither of them are for the working man, Ryan.
But, Obama/Bidne is, by far, the worst choice of the two.
No experience.
No qualifications.
No judgment.
No morals.
NObama.
Or,
As I put it,
Anybody But Obama…

Jayhawk,
LOL.
I would pretend that I didn’t support McCain too.

Posted by: Ryan C | September 16, 2008, 9:40 pm 9:40 pm

Jake, what about McCain’s fundraiser dinners?
Here’s from the McCain website:
” Dinner begins at 5:30 p.m.; a photo opportunity begins at 6:00 p.m.; and the main reception begins at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the dinner are available to individuals or couples who raise or contribute $50,000; Individuals or couples who raise or contribute $10,000 are invited to the photo opportunity and VIP reception. Tickets to the main reception are $2,300 per person. Business attire is requested. ”
ONLY $50,000 for a real dinner!
ONLY $10,000 for a photo opportunity!
Who is the celebrity here?
Who is out of touch with the working class?
Who will push our economy over the brink; in the abyss of a loooong recession?
John McCain! Take his pic for only $10,000! Have dinner in the same room with the star for only $50,000!

Senator McCain raised an impressive 5.1 million dollars at his own fundraising dinner late Monday in Florida, the Republican’s campaign said.
Supporters paid 50,000 dollars a ticket to attend the buffet dinner in Miami’s InterContinental hotel, taking McCain’s total fundraising in Florida to date to 26.2 million dollars.

Let’s talk issues, Jake!
McCain, who constantly repeats his no-new-taxes promise on the campaign trail, proposes a big tax hike as the solution to our health-care crisis.
His plan would raise taxes on workers who receive health benefits, with the idea of encouraging their employers to drop coverage.
A study conducted by University of Michigan economist Tom Buchmueller and colleagues published in the journal Health Affairs suggests that the McCain tax hike will lead employers to drop coverage for over 20 million Americans.

McCain hates the Hollywood scene.
Burbank- a few miles away- is another matter. That’s where the Tonight Show tapes.

Posted by: keller | September 17, 2008, 12:32 am 12:32 am

Why doesn’t Obama say something note worthy. I don’t here he say anything, here Biden comment but not Obama.
Why doesn’t he stand on the issues, and talk about them. What is he afraid of? Who is lining his pockets. Is it Hollywood, is it other countries, is it the big money that got us in this mess to begin with. Who is Obama really working for? He speaks of nothing and everyone hears, as if he had said something really profound. Why has there been no one on one with this election like all the others. What is Obama afraid? Why is Hollywood and Big Business speaking for him, are they the ones running for President? The man scares me to death. And what scares me more is that there are so many people that do see through it or don’t want to.

Posted by: Tracy | September 17, 2008, 12:40 am 12:40 am

Back when Obama broke his WRITTEN pledge and verbal agreement with John McCain to accept only public financing for the general election he justified it by stating that by relying on small donors he in effect had created a “parallel public financing system”.
Of course that was before his Billionaires Row SF fundraiser during the primary (the one where he uttered the “bitter comments”) and his dual fundraisers tonight (including a $28,500 a plate dinner followed by a $2,500 per person reception) that is expected to raise $9 million in one night.

Posted by: Stephen Gianelli | September 17, 2008, 12:45 am 12:45 am

What scares me Tracy is your difficulty with the English language. I’m assuming you’re native born. If so, it reminds me that this country’s education system is roughly 38th in the world and headed south. Eight years of Bush and our people are dumber (sadder, many think dumb is good). I think an elitist is what we need. Someone who went to fewer than 5 schools in 6 years (Palin) and graduated a little higher than 894 out of a class of 899 (McCain). Obama ’08.

Posted by: Sean | September 17, 2008, 12:57 am 12:57 am

Speaking of dumb, Stephen, Obama never had a “written” agreement with McCain to enter into the public finance system. He implied he would. He didn’t, because he surveyed the landscape and believed he would do better raising his own money. Cynical? Perhaps. But if the same campaign that cranks out lies like pizzas (McCain’s) thought it could secure a similar advantage by doing so don’t you think they would have? Na, not McCain. Too principled. Too much a maverick. He can accuse Obama of being everything from a traitor to a pervert but when it comes to allegiance to the public finance system he’s a patriot. Country first.

I’m an unemployed disabled American who gave Obama $25 this month. It was all I could afford, but I wish it could have been much more. Given what McCain plans to do to the healthcare system, I could very well lose what little coverage I have through my spouses employer. I am very grateful that there are American’s, whether they are in Hollywood or elsewhere, who are willing and able to give more. We must stop McCain before he finishes the job Bush has done to our country and our economy.

Now my gal Palin….is the real deal. Authentic, one of us. Reformer who will shake up Washington with President McCain. At least McCain doesn’t flip flop on public financing like the suit did.
This is shameful and disgusting and HE YELLS HIS PROMPTER SPEECHES ABOUT OUR TROUBLED ECONOMY WHILE PILFERING THE LEFTY LIB HOLLWOOD DOPER CROWD.

Obama needs to raise as much as he can so he can outspent McCain in Ohio, Penn, Colorado, MI, NM, etc…he likes to do about 3 to 1 or 4 to 1. Well look how that didn’t work for him against Hillary in FL, OH, PA….etc….Hillary STILL HAD MORE POPULAR VOTERS. Didn’t matter the loser endorsements of Kennedy, Richards, Edwards, etc…..STILL HAD TO BE PUSHED OVER THE FINISH LINE BY SUPER DELEGATES. THIS THING WAS RIGGED FROM THE BEGINNING AND HILL NEVER HAD A CHANCE.
So glad I’m on the McCain/Palin train now….even if Bozo outspends in some critical states…my money is on the American people and choosing the Mavericks/Reformers for our First Families.

Would blow the socks off those good folks who cling to guns and religion. Numbers show Ohio is McCain’s….our doer and not just a talker!

The funds that the Obama campaign has raised is truly obscene. The candidate who supposedly is “for” the poor (remember, his background as a community organizer) hobnobs with the elite – multi-millionaires and billionaires – in his ego-maniacal quest for power. If you honestly think this faux “savior” of the downtrodden would actually DO anything more than USE the poor for his own ends you are seriously deluded. Look at his record. Look at what he didn’t do for the South Side of Chicago.

The Republican party and McCain currently have twice as much money as Obama so get your facts right before you talk about Obama “buying” the election. I think I’d rather have celebrities like Oprah, Clooney, etc who give thousands of dollars to charity every year than the corporate CEOs that McCain has on his side like Carly Fiorina.
