Palin Supports Cross-Border Pakistan Raids
ABC News’ Imtiyaz Delawala Reports: During an unscheduled stop at a Philadelphia cheesesteak shop last night, Republican vice presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin endorsed cross-border raids by U.S. troops into Pakistan to prevent terrorists from crossing the border into Afghanistan.
Palin made a stop last night at Tony Luke’s, an outdoor cheesesteak joint in South Philly, where she grabbed dinner with her daughter Willow and chatted with customers.
According to the pool report of the stop, one customer there named Michael Rovito briefly pressed Palin on her position on Pakistan, and how she would handle attacks on American troops in Afghanistan by terrorists based in Pakistan’s Waziristan border region.
"It’s working with Zardari to make sure that we’re all working together to stop the guys from coming in over the border. And we’ll go from there," Palin said of working with new Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, who she met in New York last week.
When asked by Rovito whether the U.S. should conduct cross-border raids into Pakistan fom Afghanistan, Palin responded, "If that’s what we have to do stop the terrorists from coming any further in, absolutely, we should."
Senators John McCain and Barack Obama got into a heated exchange on Pakistan at their first presidential debate on Friday, with McCain harshly criticizing Obama for promoting in a speech last year making military strikes on terrorist targets in Pakistan with or without the Pakistani government’s permission.
"He said that he would launch military strikes into Pakistan," McCain said of Obama. "Now, you don’t do that. You don’t say that out loud. If you have to do things, you have to do things, and you work with the Pakistani government."
"And I guarantee you I would not publicly state that I’m going to attack them," McCain added.
Obama responded that "nobody talked about attacking Pakistan," saying his speech last year on Pakistan endorsed the idea that "if the United States has al Qaeda, bin Laden, top-level lieutenants in our sights, and Pakistan is unable or unwilling to act, then we should take them out."
"This is not an easy situation. You’ve got cross-border attacks against U.S. troops," Obama added. "And we’ve got a choice. We could allow our troops to just be on the defensive and absorb those blows again and again and again, if Pakistan is unwilling to cooperate, or we have to start making some decisions."
Obama’s position on cross-border raids sounds similar to the one stated by Palin last night, although Palin did not explicitly say whether she would support raids without the Pakistani government’s permission.
When asked in her interview with ABC News’ Charles Gibson this month whether the U.S. has the right to go into Pakistan without the approval of the Pakistani government, Palin said that the U.S. has to "exercise all options."
Gibson pressed her on the point, asking, "Is that a yes, that you think we have the right to go across the border with or without the approval of the Pakistani government, to go after terrorists who are in the Waziristan area?"
"I believe that America has to exercise all options in order to stop the terrorists who are hell bent on destroying America and our allies," Palin responded. "We have got to have all options out there on the table. Military strike has got to be a last option. But where we are today, in a very dangerous and volatile world, all options have got to be on the table."
In addition to meeting and greeting customers and store employees, Palin was asked by a reporter while waiting in line to order if she had watched the first presidential debate on Friday.
"I did, I did. Oh, McCain did awesome," Palin responded. "He was great. He was absolutely on his game."
Palin said she was ready and looking forward to her own debate this Thursday with Sen. Joe Biden.
"I am. Look forward to it. Look forward to getting to speak to Americans through that debate, absolutely," Palin said.
According to the pool report, Palin and her daughter Willow ordered two cheesestakes (whiz and onions) but did not eat at the shop before heading back to their hotel for the night.

Steve,
That is Obama’s way of saying he doesn’t know diddily. He did that with Clinton too. Obama thinks it makes him sound like he is grading their answers.
But you left out Obama admitting he abused the earmark process.
“Senator McCain is absolutely right that the earmarks process has been abused…. That is why I suspended them”.

Steve: Nice try, but you left out the FULL sentence in each case. That junk you, McCain and the rest of you Republicans are trying to pass off probably works for someone who hasn’t seen the debate.
Intelligent people knows it was more to it then just sound bites. You Republicans are so desperate that it’s sickening to point that you want to attempt to insult the intelligence of the American people.
Besides, MORE people are talking about McCain not having the guts to look Obama in the eye or look at him during the whole debate and how desrespectful that was.
Posted by: vote4peace | September 28, 2008, 8:59 am 8:59 am
Kudos to McCain for telling Obama to “shut up” about things like “we’ll take them out” when referring to irresponsible and negligent comments about our ALLIES. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing when Obama said it. Least McCain has DISCERNMENT. Liberals: get out the dictionary and look the word up.
Palin IS answering Gibson and the rest very intelligently and with discernment. To ask someone what they would do if this or that is stupid because the correct answer, in a campaign should outline steps to making a decision, ie, “I will confer with people who are close to the situation and get facts before I make a decision considering everything on the table”.
Gibson tried to put words in her mouth and good for her she dealt with that snake just like she’ll deal with the snake Biden this week and terrorists when she is VP.
Looking forward to the debates, I hope she calls him out on his gaffes; gaffes like FDR getting on TV during the depression (it was Hoover and there was no TV). LOL! Just like (as Rush says) Columbus getting off his plane…

Regarding the borders, Afghanistan borders Pakistan and when you are fighting so close to the border, you don’t realize you are in the other’s territory – that was the scenario as I understood it from what the pilots said.
We’ll be OK though with Palin – the president of Pakistan likes her.

It’s amazing how whenever any topic is about Palin or McCain you Republicans always try to skip the subject by focusing negatively on Obama. Pathetic.
Nice try, the world already knows Palin is a joke, and with all the EXECUTIVE experience you claim she has, there is NO WAY she could have debated Obama Friday.
Tell you what, why not get your insults ready in advance for the Biden & Palin debate.

Glad Mccain got in the ‘way’ of that; no wonder the dems want him out of the way. Personally, I agree that they should publish the bill on net to let the folks see it – we cannot trust our government run by democrats who got us in this mess in the first place and that’s a fact.

Palin is well aware of what goes on with her foreign neighbors; the US has military bases near those borders – albiet Federal jurisdiction, Alaska is aware of what goes on. Come on, the liberal press and blogs that are 100% in the tank witht Obama will write and say anything to trash MaccCain and Palin or for that matter to anyone that gets in the road of the false Messiah. LOL
They did it to Hillary, to Bill, to Jesse Jackson, etc.etc.etc.
How many times Hillary, Bill, and Biden disagreed with Obama? Plenty!
How much foreign experience Obama has? None (well, he said he had enough since he grow up in Indonesia! now that’s a laughable answer!
How many links Obama has with lobbys, Illinois corrupt machine in Illinois? Plenty!
How many times OBama has really crossed to real lead any debates in legislation? None! He has help passed a couple of legislation without debate making any leadership efforts, legislation given to him by Jones in Illinois and Reed in Dc just t o beef up his thin credentials!!
how many times Obama embellished his experience and achievements? Plenty!!
How many times Obama has flip flopped? Many!! He is a big ponder!
This guy is a false leader, he has never led anything really and with very few achievements besides his education and the first African American president in the Harvard Review. His judgment and courage are qusttionable. His famous opposition to the war was WITHOUT RISK for him, he was running for State senate in his VERY liberal district!!!
But no matter what we right here or show the real fact they are blinded by the Messiah’s power! The savior of the world!!! LOL
The irony is that this Messiah has been living in Chicago and Illinois for a long time and hasn’t made any miracles just yet!! LOL

No it doesn’t. Get your facts right.
There is/was a provision for 20% of profits – if any – to go to the National Housing Trust Fund, which provides affordable housing for low-cost Americans.
The only link to ACORN is that they can, as can any other organization carrying out relevant work, apply for grants from that trust fund. There are limits to how much any one organization can receive, and conditions attached to what the grant can be spent on. Google ‘National Housing Trust Fund’ for more information.

I love all of the GOP’ers who keep posting Obama’s comments regarding McCain being right. What is wrong with agreeing with someone your running against. We have had a hard core partisan blinder-wearing, my way or the highway, president for 8 years. Now Obama agreed with perhaps McCain 8 or 9 times of the 100 things he said. I want my president to be intelligent and willing to listen to all Americans and make a judgment.
Even more incredible is that Mr. Maverick, didn’t agree with Obama once. John is even afraid to look at Obama. Obama is the Democratic nominee for president he deserved the respect of being looked at. McCain might of well been talking to the devil, refusing to make eye contact. Is this how he is going to treat people he doesn’t agree with.
So if you want someone who is willing to form opinions and make judgements based on sound advice from all sides, the vote Obama. If you want another “I trust my gut” president who never agrees with his opposition no matter what, vote McCain.

Dontcha think that giving Saddam a year and a half warning that we are coming there could have been enough time to hide WMD’s? WMD’s in the form of mustard gas and biological warfare are pretty small – for example, I am sure that a mason jar full of bacteria dumped in a reservoir for a large city’s water supply could do massive damage and I do see that coming. How hard would that be?
We are up against a different kind of enemy and all you guys can argue about is the best place to get a cheesesteak?

Media – there you go again. you let Biden get away with telling lies and acting like a bafoon. Palin has said if need be we will do cross-boarder raids in pakistan – probably what has been happening now. our special forces basically live in this area now (afghan side) and are doing whatever they can to stop taliban from coming into Afghanistan.
The media is trying so hard to bring palin down but unfortunately for them alot of people love her and want her to be one of our top carers for this country

I knew that Obama wanted to turn America into a socialist country by making the wealthy pay for the poor but his behavior in Missouri is that of a communist. If this is happening now imagine what it will be like if he becomes president.
Gov. Blunt Statement on Obama Campaign’s Abusive Use of Missouri Law Enforcement
JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on news reports that have exposed plans by U.S. Senator Barack Obama to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics.
“St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.
“What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment.
“This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights. The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election.
“Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts – not a free society.”

What is this GARBAGE I’m reading about Obama having law enforcement in Missouri keep people from “spreading lies” about him? I didn’t realize we lived in a communist country (yet) and I’m absolutely terrified that he can use intimidating police tactics to keep people from acting and speaking freely.
This really, really frightens me.

And yet, you continue to ignore the HUGE news from Missouri, that Obama is turning us into a police state by using state funded police to intimidate all those saying something negative about him? That is not news to you, but a cheesesteak comment is?
Have you lost your minds? Have you no sense of journalistic integrity whatsoever?

It is true. I watched the local media report about it. Obama is acting like a communist. He is using his corrupt, Chicago thug style politics to threaten the people of Missouri if they speak out against him. He has the local law enforcement and 2 prosecutors threatening the citizens. Who knows where else he is doing that.

The day after the RNC convention I predicted to my friends Ms Palin would bow out by Oct 15. I never believed she was intended to make the final run to the White House with McSilly aka McChicken Old Man. Another Gov. is poised and ready and this was McChilly’s Shock and Awe GOTCHA to get the spotlight back on him.
Sadly the Palin’s tiny son will become ill (or perhaps another manufactured crisis) and only a mother’s love will save the day. Go home Mama Moose take care of your calf and let America move on. Frankly you have more baggage than a Greyhound bus. We wish you well and admire your moxie BUT all good things must come to an end. To any McSame supporters who are trying to use Obama’s saying “He’s right”….don’t be stupid enough to think that everyone is wrong 100% of the time. It would behoove McCain to learn a little humility and admit that he isn’t right about everything and that Obama makes many good points himself. The difference is in how each party would handle the situations that are messed up. McCain wants to do what Bush has been doing which has us in a bind economically and from a foreign policy standpoint. Obama wants to change the approach since the current policies are failing.
Obama right. McCain…just plain wrong.

For those intellects who prefer fact over fiction, I have something quite the obvious, yet unfathomable to a cynic. You be the judge:
The states that Obama already has securely within his grasp give him a preliminary total today of 223 electoral votes, and that doesn’t include CO, NEV, OH, MI, VA, PA or FL. Considering the reality of this, it’s quite likely that he will win FL, CO, VA and either MI or OH.
Obama only needs is 3 out of the 10 battleground states to win the election and it looks like he’ll win at least 6 of the 10 EASY. Virginia? Obama. Colorado? Obama. Florida? Obama. Michigan? Obama. Ohio? Obama. The reality is, Obama is very strong in all battlegrounders. With McCain giving up a major gaff every other day, if not every day, he’s sealing an Obama victory.
McCain has to win 9 out of 10 battleground states to keep the race close, and even the GOP’s best spinster cheerleaders know that’s not going to happen. For starters, he NEEDS to win FL, OH, MI, CO, PA and VA WITHOUT QUESTION, but the grim reality is that he’ll only win one. (Two with a miracle) I’ll be very nice and give McCain PA and OH, and even with those two states, he maxes out at 238 electoral votes. To top it off, start subtracting votes when Ron Paul pulls votes in Ohio and PA while Bob Barr pulls votes in GA from massive independent and Republican voters with at least 20%. Obama wins GA too? If so, consider it a crime to be a Republican and be see during daylight hours.
Now combine all of this with Democratic registration numbers increasing at a 4-1 rate over the Republicans in all battleground and current Red states.
McCain might get 35% of the vote when this is over. It doesn’t look good for McCain at all, my friends.

The Katie couric interview was so disasterous for Palin that is was truly embarassing. I was embarassed for Palin…and I”m a Democrat! I just wanted someone to come in and say “enough already…let’s cut this”. This woman I believe is intelligent and capable, but definitely not ready for anything national yet. She is green, scared, and can only regurgitate the info. that has been massively pumped into her over the past month. The answers she gives were completedly memorized, & appear very desperate. I couldn’t even finish watching the interview it was so bad, and as a mother myself, I found myself just feeling really sorry for her. But then, I started feeling scared for this country — what if in his old age, something happens to McCain…and this woman becomes President!

Nat Turner (Nathaniel Turner, October 2, 1800 – November 11, 1831) was an American slave who started the largest slave rebellion in the antebellum southern United States, in Southampton County, Virginia. His methodical slaughter of white civilians during the uprising makes his legacy controversial.

There is a serious problem with respect for women in politics. It is so sad that so many people feel comfortable in disrespecting women, including the media. Yet we so readily condemn other countries for their lack of respect for women. We do not listen, read or reason when it comes to politics. The news is no better. You would think that style would not take priority over substance. There is also a great lack of respect on Obama’s part that is just accepted. If you want to know the truth coming from the Black community, we honestly think that Caucasians are afraid of Obama. He calls Senator McCain “John” instead of addressing him properly. Don’t dare get Cancer and try to live a decent life. All we ever hear is about the possibility of death for Senator McCain. There is no guarantee for any of us. How would each one who constantly “kill” him off feel if you were suddenly diagnosed with cancer? We would rather take an inexperienced anybody than a woman. Let’s put some of what Sara Palin has done out there for people to see instead of putting her down. Let’s ask Barack Obama to stop telling stories, copying off others, depending upon others and hiding his inexperience before a big mistake is made. Stop covering up for him, stop being afraid of him and elect the better candidate. I am so surprised with all that newsreporters have seen, they are so naive. Not one of them will stand up and make the truth be known. Long after the Obamas they will have to live with themselves.
Further, Obama talks a good game and so many people are falling for it. We, as Blacks are used to the fast talkers as a part of our culture. We just sit back and laugh at how easy it is to be taken in. We know the truth and we just sit back and laugh. We just sit back and laugh! We laugh at all those media experts who are supposed to be so wise end up being so gullible. You really need to get to know us as a culture before you can presume to enable a person like Obama. You don’t know him at all. If he is elected, you will learn a valuable lesson. Have no fear, but we will know!

Those calling out Obama acknowledging when Mccain was “right” on an issue as a negative is absurd and very childish. That is the problem with Washington and why nothing gets done. When you can not acknowledge the good the other side has done unless it is at your peril. One of the key rules of negotiation is:
Leave behind your ego. The best negotiators either don’t care or don’t show they care about who gets credit for a successful deal. Their talent is in making the other side feel like the final agreement was all their idea.

Let’s be honest, Governor Palin doesn’t know what she supports. She is being told what to say and the few occasions when she has needed to speak off of her teleprompter script or her memorized talking points she goes wildly awry.
McCain thinks economic problems can be solved by cutting back on earmarks (which is what–3 or 4% of the interest on the current debt?) and borrowing more money for additional tax cuts to wealthy Americans and corporations. He is rooted in Cold War policies (read: pre-1991). Palin is to be his second in command. Doesn’t that say it all?

Anybody with an open mind and not with a political bias would have come to the conclusion that Obama did better. I understand if you have already decided who you are supporting, your supported canidate seemed to do better in your eyes. But Independents and undecided probably favored Obama. I think he hit more talking points, explained his answers in detail better, seemed more presidential. He also was better at pointing out McCain failures, Bush failures and hit home with McCain supporting Bush on 90 percent of Bush policies. Obama also looked McCain in the eye, whereas McCain didnt look at Obama. Also McCain kept saying “Sen. Obama just doesnt get it”. Everytime I heard that I thought that after 8 years of Bush and supporting his policies, maybe it is you Sen McCain that just doesnt get it. McCain is old school and = the past.Obama represents the future and with the nation more deverse and becoming more so, he represents things to come. People in general are tired of a war that should have never happened. People are tired of a failing economy. People are tired of racism. Obama brings newer ideas and youth with a desire to bring the world back to respecting the US. He may just become one of the greatest Presidents to sit in the White House because he is about the future and truly about change and reform.

I think it was done so everyone will have low expectations of her in the Biden/Palin debate and that way even if she holds her own she will be prceived as winning. Its just not posible, with McCains great experiance that he could acually pick someone that bad for VP. Biden should not take this for granted.

I ask you to look at this whole thing for what it is, if Barack were white and Palin were Black with exactly the same credentials, experience, and abilities as they do now, McCain would not have given her a 2nd look and Obama would be leading by 40 points right now. Thats the truth whether you admit to yourself or not. I would still vote for Barack and would be embarrassed that this clown Palin is the best thing that they could prop it – black or white.

On ABC’s This Week, John McCain said he was a “Teddy Roosevelt Republican” apparently without knowing what Roosevelt stood for. Take the inheritance tax or Death Tax as it is now called. McCain – Palin are against it while McCain is a Teddy Roosevlt type. Why is this McCain imagery odd?
Theordore Roosevelt helped create the inheritance tax aka “death tax”.
When Theodore Roosevelt demanded that Congress pass a steeply graduated inheritance tax in 1906, he was proposing the one bill that members of his own patrician class feared most. In attacking what they cherished – not just their money but also their sense of entitlement and superiority – he was challenging the class system, not the capitalist system, turning the upper-class world upside down. As far as these plutocrats were concerned, T.R. had betrayed his own class to the point of no return.
As John McCain seeks no inheritance tax, he are betraying the legacy of his “mentor”. For what reason? He is stupid and wants to get elected.

Nice try republicans, turn these comments to Obama so we forget about Palin’s comments.
Maybe, if she is lucky, Biden will teach her what McCain’s point of views are during the debate because I am willing to bet that Biden understands McCain’s positions better than Palin understands then.

Calm down please. You’re not a racist!! Ok??
The inevitable is coming. Race is being being neutralized on the world stage and the funny part is the country behind South Africa for being the most racist since it’s inception is, guess who? GOTCHA! South Africa has already overcome it’s “pest” problem.

You REALLY want to talk about the weaknesses of the VP choices? Biden is a non-stop gaffe machine. It’s like he’s drunk AND has tourette’s syndrome. He’s embarrassing and I cringe when he speaks. It’s also funny how he is the antithesis of what Obama stood for in the primaries.

Free speech covers speech that tells truth – not blatant lies.

OBAMA – BIDEN = O[s]AMA BI[nla]DEN. Coincidence? I don’t think so. What better way for Al Qaeda to get back at the U.S. than by having one of their own as commander in chief!! Oh yeah, Obama’s been groomed for this job. And choosing Biden as his running mate makes it all the more eerier. Only liberals & democrats could underestimate Al Qaeda and be stupid enough to vote for them. Obamas a MUSLIM!! Always has been, always will be!! And if he’s elected, this country will be in deep sh**, in more ways than one.

I just love Sarah, the maverick.
Sarah Palin is Commander of the Alaska National Guard– consider this. Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It’s on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units. As governor of Alaska , Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counter terrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden’s and certainly by far exceeds Obama’s. She’s also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security’s counter terrorism plans. Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country’s defense. Given Alaska’s proximity to Russia , she may have security clearances we don’t even know about. According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets.

By the beast, then, coming up out of the earth, he means the kingdom of Antichrist; and by the two horns he means him and the false prophet after him. And in speaking of “the horns being like a lamb,” he means that he will make himself like the Son of God, and set himself forward as king. And the terms, “he spake like a dragon,” mean that he is a deceiver, and not truthful

Washington, DC – September 26, 2008 – Barack Obama is now using local law enforcement officials to carry out his campaign of legal intimidation by assembling a group of high-ranking Missouri police officials and prosecutors – including St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCullough and City of St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce – to identify and target anyone the campaign determines is producing “misleading” political advertisements.
“This is an outrageous and shocking attempt by the Obama campaign to again employ Stalinist, police state tactics against those who dare to disagree with Barack Obama,” said Ed Martin, American Issues Projects president. “I am frankly stunned to see public officials like McCullough and Joyce abusing their official prosecutorial positions to serve as attack dogs for a national political campaign. I am quite certain Missourians elected these individuals to enforce the laws and arrest criminals, not to throw people in jail for daring to practicing free speech.
“The Obama campaign continues to provide a chilling preview of what would happen to political freedom in an Obama administration.”
This new effort is only the most recent attempt by the Obama campaign to crack down on free speech. Obama’s lawyers twice demanded the Department of Justice investigate and prosecute the American Issues Project, its officers, board of directors, and donors. The campaign also threatened stations running American Issues Project’s ad in an unsuccessful attempt to compel them to pull the spot, and ran its own ad in response.
Notably, this ad failed to dispute a single fact the American Issues Project has put forth.

Apologies if this has already been pointed out, but Palin’s answer is in line with what McCain said in the debate, not what Obama was attacked by McCain for saying.
The crucial point is that Obama said that with or without Pakistani support he would attack targets in Pakistan. McCain (and Palin, where she talks about working with Zardari) approves of cross-border strikes but only with Pakistani government support.

Gee arent we an intelligent bunch on the keyboard today. If you believe that a 600 year old man named Noah went and built a boat and floated around for 40 days after aquiring two of every animal and insect. If you believe that the earth is only 6000 years old and God slit the red sea, then sure believe in your AntiChrist fable.—–Obama a Muslim. Well since mostly the very few uneduacted acually believe that I will humor you. I wouldnt care if he was. Not all Muslims are bad people and this country was founded on the freedom of religion and that all are created equal.

Nope. It was OBAMA who committed treason in Iraq last summer. You know, when he asked the Iraqi leaders to keep the troops until “after he’s elected” so that he may pull them out and appear the hero. He admitted to doing this. Anyone else would be investigated immediately and probably tried, but the media is tight-lipped, of course, so as to avoid the truth getting out about their little golden goose egg Obama. It’s blasphemy, really.

Rush Limbaugh is an ass.. i cant stand that man…i dont see why he hasnt been put down by now…. i am so tired of people going on about this man ( obama ) the man isnt a muslim for petes sake…. i think there are alot of people that have problems with him being mixed blk/white or whatever… i am married to a white man and i cant believe that people are still so closed minded…. not being in either party…. i will vote for Obama/ Biden
if i even vote at all… and here is the reason why… Mccain has lied about his supporting the vets.. and hasnt voted for different vets bills and in some cases he didnt even bother to show up… he says he loves them and they know that he will take care of them… what a joke…. and i am not saying that Obama probably hasnt lied a time or two… but the vet. affairs is somethig close to my heart and for him to lie on something as important as that… and him being a former officer of the service himself … how dare he…. and i did my fact checks to make sure i wasnt accusing the man unjustly and i am not… at least i think obama/biden can relate to americans coming from working class familes… mccain has had it easy all his life the way that i see it… what does he know of loosing a job because of the economy and then tryin to hold on to your home as a result of job loss.. what does he know struggling to pay for healthcare… when an employer takes 60,… 70….80… a week out of a persons check to cover a familys healthcare…. people cant afford that… what does he care about the middle class… he doesnt have to worry about whether or not he will loose his job and thinking when will there ever be a thing calL HAVING JOB SECURITY
IN THIS COUNTRY…. COMPANIES TAKING JOBS OUT OF THE COUNTRY COMPANIES CUTTING JOBS LEFT AND RIGHT COMPANIES CLOSING PLANTS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY…. WHEN HE CAN TELL ME THAT HE HAS STRUGGLED IN THOSE AREAS IN HIS LIFE THEN WE CAN TALK…

Here’s the Press Release I was referring to:
“Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurril ous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts – not a free society.”

Gee whiz, can we see some links here? Blagojevich-Wright-Obama-Chicago politics-Rezko-Obama? Think we’ll ever read about any of that on ABC news blog- bet not.
I just hope the sinister side of Obama is revealed BEFORE the election, otherwise, Affirmative Action will kick in and his crimes will all be under the cover of “racism”.

Funny you gotta bring the “rich” into this. The very people who create jobs. Hmm. Thank God for MY employer, if he wasn’t rich I wouldn’t have a job. Lets punish them by taking more than their fair share of their success. Who said anything about the homeless? You’re right, quite a few of them are mentally ill, but I happen to know some personally who CHOOSE to live that way. They don’t want to pay taxes and they live off the generosity of unsuspecting taxpayers. I’m not saying we should abolish the assistance programs, I’m saying that people need to go out and work. Its not fair to me, I am not responsible for them, or you. I have a family to take care of, a mortgage and bills to pay and I’m not down with Obama taxing me to death, and if he taxes my rich employer, jobs will have to be cut. President Bush got elected bcuz the country was still reeling from the aftermath of 9-11 and we trusted him to keep us safe. He kept that promise, didn’t he?

ABC News gets this completely wrong. Obama supports unannounce unilateral combat missions in Pakistan. More than that, as a Senator he is threatening a sovereign nation. Palin on the other hand specifically stated that working with the new Pakistani president, she would support cross border missions.
Threatening to unilaterally attack a country, and doing coordinated and permitted combat missions are not the same thing ABC!!!!!!

In all seriousness I hope McCain throws some BS and gets elected president after which the government realizes he’s not mentally fit to be President (there’s evidence he has Alzhiemers… and he’s not showing his medical record). Following that, Palin should become president and do something horrific like make Bible Study a mandatory class in Elementary and make being gay illegal, for her to get impeached and literally destroy this retarded party known as the GOP, just like the Wigs and the Federalists of the past. Though another similar party will appear soon after, we’ll maybe get 1 or 2 elections with no conservative party.

Sarah Palin isn’t smart enough to be Governor of Alaska much less Vice President. She gives the impression she doesn’t keep up with current affairs much less McCain’s ever changing positions. She was right about comparing herself to a pit bull though, I didn’t realize she meant in intelligence. On a rebuttal note, George Bush is the worst President in American history and if if he kept your taxes low you must be very wealthy albensmom. And another thing don’t speak about the homeless when you have no clue other than they offend you by existing. No one CHOOSES to be homeless. You are as ignorant as your choice of candidates.

It’s working with Zardari to make sure that we’re all working together to stop the guys from coming in over the border. And we’ll go from there. ..
When asked by Rovito whether the U.S. should conduct cross-border raids into Pakistan fom Afghanistan, Palin responded, “If that’s what we have to do stop the terrorists from coming any further in, absolutely, we should.”
——
She is NOT contradicting McCain. She is clearly talking about working WITH Zardari.

Some of these pro-Palin bloggers are doing a better job articulating her positions than she does. Obama has not said anything different than what the Republicans have been saying and doing all along in Pakistan. Heck Palin says she wants War with Russia. Was that responsible? Or we are all Georgians. That is just ridiculous. This is a democracy and we have a right to know what our leaders think. McCain has been part of the covert secretive Bush regime too long. Those days are over.

The way Obama has been criticized for saying “Senator McCain is right” is beyond childish.
Don’t we all want a leader that can disagree without being disagreeable?
Where is that spirit of bipartisanship McCain and his surrogates are always bragging about?
Obama was both a gentleman and a forceful debater.
McCain couldn’t even bring himself to look Obama in the eye. Not even once.

Julez, it must be nice to the judge of everyone’s intelligence. How exactly did you win this privilege? Your superior brainpower? You’re funny.
How many homeless people have YOU known? I assume you’ve known them ALL because you said that “no one CHOOSES to be homeless.” But that’s not even true. There are plenty of homeless people who DO choose to live on the streets, who choose to not work 9-5, who chose to not participate in our typical lives. While these people are in the minority, it is important to recognize that they exist. And you are very obnoxious in your arrogance, much like your messiah.

Someone posted all the times Obama told McCain “you’re right” during the first debate.
First, there seems to be pretty widespread agreement in various polls that Obama won the debate.
Second, I think Obama was demonstrating that there is common ground between the positions of the Repubs and Dems. That seems like a good starting place for discussion. It seems like a rather mature and civilized place to start, actually.
We all agree we want a healthy economy, we want to lower our dependence on oil, we want to decrease the influence of lobbyists, etc. etc. Why pretend there aren’t even these basic similarities? Unless you are just trying to promote division and deadlock… and that doesn’t seem very smart.

Albensmom, you seem to be incredibly naive about where your money goes. In the last 8 years Bush and his cronies have spent TRILLIONS of our dollars on an unnecessary and failed war.
The idea that the Dems are the big spenders is completely outdated. Social programs are a miniscule part of our overall budget compared to what Bush wasted on this war.
Meanwhile, he gave a tax cut to the ultra-rich. If you know several homeless people personally, you don’t travel in the kind of circles where you actually know any super-rich people, but I can tell you, most of these people aren’t “creating jobs.” They live in places like Beverly Hills and Greenwich, CT. Their house cleaners and gardeners are all illegal immigrants. The women don’t work, they spend their time at the country club and at the spa or on vacations in Europe.
You should really educate yourself about where your tax dollars go. You have no idea.

Alaska so big you don’t need one. Poor Palin! Her buddy system that remains in place as a result of his tendency to be vindictive will not wiin her any accolades with the American public. She has an ounce of knowledge on foreign policy and a pound of cure by relying on Joel’s Army. “Joel’s Army followers, many of them teenagers and young adults who believe they’re members of the final generation to come of age before the end of the world, are breaking away in droves from mainline Pentecostal churches. Numbering in the tens of thousands, they base their beliefs on an esoteric reading of the second chapter of the Old Testament Book of Joel, in which an avenging swarm of locusts attacks Israel. In their view, the locusts are a metaphor for Joel’s Army. Despite their overt militancy, there’s no evidence Joel’s Army followers have committed any acts of violence. But critics warn that actual bloodletting may only be a matter of time for a movement that casts itself as God’s avenging army.” One 06/08/08, she spoke at the Master’s Commission graduation at her pentecostal chruch in Alaska. Many to become part of Joel’s Army have gone thrhough the Master’s Commission Porgarm.

During the Debate McCain stated that Pakistan was a Failed State when Musharaff came into power.
1st – Pakistan’s different government institutions were working just fine before Musharaf took power by force.
2nd – Musharaf did not come to power he took power in a MILITARY COUP with mass murder, executions, and imprisonment.

I’ve read the transcript of what Palin said:
PALIN: “It’s working with [Pakistani president] Zardari to make sure that we’re all working together to stop the guys from coming in over the border,” she told him. “And we’ll go from there.”
…
FOLLOW UP QUESTION: “So we do cross border, like from Afghanistan to Pakistan you think?,” Rovito asked.
PALIN: “If that’s what we have to do stop the terrorists from coming any further in, absolutely, we should,” Palin responded, before moving on to greet other voters.
The only way you can claim that Palin suggests attacking Pakistan unilaterally is if you ignore the first part of her answer, which forms the context for the second.

After watching the debates, and the recent comments by Ms. Palin, it is easy to see why Obama is rising in the polls not just with the Democrats, but overwhelmingly with independents as well. Seeing the options the republicans had as far as candidates go, McCain was not the repubs first choice, but rather the tallest midget. To bring a political novice like Palin on as McCain’s running mate shows that there is very little to choose from among the Republican leadership. It is as if the republicans wanted to sit this one out knowing the poor condition they have put this country into.
Knowing that the charade that the republicans are putting on this election is falling on deaf ears allows the american people to sleep well knowing that the long nightmare is almost over.

Dear Gov. Rendell,
Since I have read that you are now a member of Barack Obama’s truth squad, I am hoping that you will spread that sentiment both ways. I would like you to talk about Obama’s trip to Iraq and his conversation with Hoshyar Zebari which I and many other Americans is a violation of the Logan Act. I would also like you to bring to light his 500 thousand plus contributions from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. I would like you to tell your constituents about the Phillip Berg lawsuit which alleges Obama unqualified to run for President based on his dual citizenship. I would like you to relay the truth behind Obama’s questionable associations with convicted domestic terrorist William Ayers. Maybe show some of Reverand Wright’s sermons at your next press conference? Or perhaps bring up some facts from Dr. Lynette Long’s research into the Obama camp’s caucus fraud in Texas. Speaking of caucus fraud, how about Obama’s involvement with ACORN?
I am counting on you, Governor Rendell to do your truth squad duty!

Palin deserves to be questioned on many things but this probably isn’t one of them. It does show that she is not 100% on the same page as McCain.. similar to the minor gaffes of Biden. She does not seem to have a good command of foreign policy, however, and that is one of the reasons I am voting for the Democrats this year.

I can’t wait until the debate on Thursday – this is going to be a blast. And Esther? Unless you have a direct line to God I am not sure how on earth you can know that getting Palin elected is God’s will. No one knows that but God and to presume otherwise is rather presumptuous.
Posted by: allie | September 28, 2008, 4:04 pm 4:04 pm
Another thing that bothers me about Palin is that she will not admit she lacks foreign policy knowledge. If she would just admit that and stop giving us stuff about Putin’s airspace or seeing Russia from her house, or flying over Canada then I would have more confidence. If she would just admit her short comings it would be better. But she doesn’t and that is another reason I’ll go with Obama-Biden this year.

Possibly it is God’s will to have her elected. Possibly it is God’s will to destroy this country for all of the evil that we have done over the last 8 years. The wars, the death to innocent people around the world, the gorging greed of the wealth, and turning our backs on the poor and sick in this country. Maybe Esther is right, and the end maybe near. It is obvious that the easiest way for biden to come out on top of the debate is to just give palin enough rope, and she will hang herself. Just let her talk. Unfortunately, the whole nation will see her crumble in front of our eyes, and that will be sad, but, the only one to blame is McCain. He has lead her to believe she is qualified, and in reality, any one with an 8th grade education can see this is not the case. As much as we all would like to think we can lead this country, it takes more than surface knowledge to lead a country of 300 million.

What are you basing your statement “excellent mind” on since there no evidence of that up until now. She was a sports caster, and she reads and says what she is told to say, which has been very obvious of late. You may want and hope that she is what you want her to be, but there is nothing that you can point to that contradicts this. She is a puppet, nothing more, nothing less.

It is amazing what we are seeing here. There are likely hundreds of people in our country who could do a reasonable job as President. Some progressive, some center, some conservative. But all with the intellectual and personality characteristics to do the job. Some obviously, better than others, see George W. Bush for reference there. But John McCain somehow managed to pick someone who truly seems to be unqualified. I think I could have done better in those interviews than she did. She doesn’t seem to have paid any attention to many important national and foreign policy issues at all in her life. Completely amazing.

What would you expect from a war hawk. She wears a crown and carries a gun. Especially when Pakistan doesn’t want us in their counrty we will see more signs saying yankee go home. WE have to learn to mind our own business I don’t see any foreign country offering any money for the bail out with out strings attached.

In all honesty, it would serve the McCain candidacy and Palin, if they would just get her a subscription to Time and Newsweek. Maybe then she would have a clue as to what is going on in this country and in the world.

Independent realist. you seem to forget that she was voted in as Governor of her state, she has a very high approval rating (the highest of any governor at the time) because she actually got things done. She is very knowledgeable on Energy which is a HUGE deal in the world we live in. She is also only running for VP and has more executive experience then the top of the Dem ticket. She is also a real person and not a washington politician, which i think is what appeals her to average americans (the ones that dont sit on blogs all day!)

You can honestly think that Palin is doing a terrific job? The women who STILL thinks Palin is great, are the ones who lack confidence, education and political knowledge. You women just like Palin don’t know the correct answer, so you become CHEERLEADERS, for her just because she is a woman.
CONDI, HILLIARY, know politics, and can run for president, PALIN IS FAILING FAST and needs to go home and raise her children. There is a time and a place for everything. She is clueless and you want her one heart beat from the Whitehouse…give me a break. Wake up, this isn’t a hockey game or a beauty pagent where you can just get by.

She lives in a state with 600 thousand people, and she has been in office less than 2 years. The mayor of San Francisco has more political knowledge then she has. You all are so desperate to make her into something that she is not. Without trying to belittle you or her, she is not qualified to run this country, and with all of the scandals that are coming out of Alaska, the only qualification that she is showing is to circumvent laws. Just because her state has oil does not make her anymore of an expert on energy than the mayor of Dallas. She is not the woman leader that the women of this country have been looking for, if anything, Hillary would have carried that title, and she wasn’t my choice either, but for different reasons. You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. (no pun intended)

While Sarah Palin is stumping on the campaign trail and telling supporters that she will definitely attack Pakistan, there is serious trouble brewing up in Alaska. Yesterday the Alaskans had a huge rally and protest with thousands of people filling the Alaskan streets demanding that Sarah Palin be held accountable for her part in Troopergate. Thousands of brave Alaskans are demanding that Sarah Palin step down as governor and they are demanding that McCain’s lawyers get out of the state of Alaska. These Alaskans are angry and will not be deterred. To see the bold moves that took place in Alaska yesterday, go to: mudflats.wordpress.com and you can see pictures, videos, songs and action that took place. This is serious!!

LIE LIE LIE LIE LIE LIE…. it’s what reporters are good at…. What a LIE this whole ABC article is… It’s a TOTAL Misrepresentation of the ACTUAL statements made by McCain and Palin in an attempt to Help the great and wonderful BO …… Even Hillary called BO on this one and used almost the SAME exact words that McCain used in the Debate – - – Hillary .”Asked about the notion of unilateral U.S. military action in Pakistan to get al-Qaida leadership: ‘How we do it should not be telegraphed or discussed for obvious reasons.’”
_________________________________________
PALIN DID NOT SAY we would cross the border without permission like BO did, which is what this issue is all about… – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - — – - – - -
“It’s working with Zardari to make sure that we’re all working together to stop the guys from coming in over the border. And we’ll go from there,”
“If that’s what we have to do stop the terrorists from coming any further in, absolutely, we should.”

I have to agree with Edward, Palin seems to be totally out of her element. This makes sense since her sphere of comfort was much, much smaller (small town mayor, governor of a sparsely populated state). Alaska has 680,000 people in the ENTIRE state as of 2006, while Chicago has 3 million people. Honestly, I think Palin is a bright, ambitious woman with eclectic experiences but is a political red steak thrown to the rabid conservative dogs that criticize McCain so intensely. She molified them for a bit, but its a distractor that’s wearing thin.

What are you doing in Philly? Who’s watching them Russians from your window? Sarah, they need you right away in Alaska to watch Putin as he “rears his head, flying over…and you need to send those up”. Sarah, hurry, before them Iranians come over on rafts into Alaska. Hurry, your foriegn experience is so desperately needed in Alaska now, especially with those mission that go back and forth, you never if Putin is sneaking in that way…hurry.

This report does not cite Palin as saying that we would cross the Pakistan border. It cited her saying stopping them from coming into Afghanistan. That is not the same stance as the one given by Obama. Stop trying to spin her words.
This report said the following:
“Obama’s position on cross-border raids sounds similar to the one stated by Palin last night,……….although Palin did not explicitly say whether she would support raids without the Pakistani government’s permission.”
The answer given by Palin is not like Obama’s stance. She knows the difference even if he does not.
Obama’s words are all on record and he has rashly and openly talked of going into Pakistan without permission. He also said he would meet Iran’s leader without preconditions. Then he tried to say that Henry Kissenger said the same. Kissinger did not. Obama makes his stand, then backtracks, then dittos the other side to spin it into something else. He uses “I agree” because he doesn’t know enough to talk about it. He tries to be a moving target, but we are keeping up with his words–all of them.

2 weeks ago Palin did a rally with a crowd of 60,000 people, this told me that she still has a lot of support for VP. This week she had 3 days in NY meeting world leaders and her biggest mistake was not talking to them afterwards. She should be doing more media interviews but i’m not going to say anything until after the debate when i think then she will start to do more. i think their focus this week was the meetings and then the debate. And no i’m not a cheerleader, yes i am educated, i am a mother of 2 and i love the thought of Sarah Palin as VP and one day President.

Georgia, you can’t honestly believe that McCain has been running a good campaign. And to believe he is going to reform his own party is funny. The conservatives do not want him which is why he keeps saying that he will reach across the aisle, that will be the only way to hope someone agrees with him. The Republicans have been in charge for 8 years, so who will he reform? The party that he belongs to? I haven’t seen them asking for reform, so how will he reform them?

I will break this down for you Dems so you can understand it better. She said she would talk with the Government of Pakistan first and then do what is necessary to protect our troops. This is what McCain said we should do in the first place. ABC why do you post trash like this? Don’t you require your reporters to check their facts? Do you have some sort of standards to follow? I realize the late night cheese steak scoop here is a top burner but it would take all of about three seconds to verify the two campaigns position on this issue. Only if Harry Reasoner could witness what you have done to his network. Dems- Harry is legendary figure for ABC News that would have hated all of you for your ignorance about life in general.

I AM SO SICK OF REPUBLICANS GETTING ANGRY AT THE NEWS MEDIA AND OTHER VOTERS WITH THE INFORMATION THEY PROVIDED ABOUT THE MCCAIN/PALIN TICKET. IF YOU ALL WERE TRUE TO YOURSELF, YOU WOULD ADMIT, YOUR TICKET IS A DISGRACE. OBAMA AND BIDEN HAVE ALREADY BEEN THROUGH THE MUD, AND NOW THAT IT’S PALINS TIME TO PRODUCE AND ANSWER, YOU ALL WANT TO SAY THE MEDIA IS UNFAIR. THIS WOMAN HASN’T EVEN GIVEN UP HER TAX RETURNS.
SARAH PALIN, DID WONDERFUL THINGS AT THE TIME FOR ALASKA, BUT THAT WAS THEN AND THIS IS NOW. SHE DID THEM BECAUSE SHE SAW THINGS FROM A CITIZENS VIEW, AFTER ALL SHE WAS A HOCKEY MOM. HOWEVER, WHEN SHE SAW SHE COULD REALLY BE IN CONTROL AND BECOME WEALTHY, SHE TOOK FULl ADVANTAGE OF HER GOV. POSITIONS AND THE AUTHORITY.
THOSE POOR CITIZENS ARE STILL PAYING FOR A SPORT STADIUM BECAUSE SHE DIDN’T CROSS HER T’S AND DOT HER I’S.
SHE USED HER AUTHORITY WITH THAT OFFICER, (IT WILL COME OUT)AND THE FACT THAT SHE USED HER YAHOO ACCOUNT WITH A GOV. ADDRESS, IS PROOF THAT SHE IS STUPID AND SLINGS HER GOVERNOR BADGE WHEN NECESSARY.
SHE DIDN’T RAISE HER KIDS AND DON’T PLAN TO RAISE THE ONE SHE JUST BROUGHT IN THE WORLD. AND YOU CONSERVATIVES WANT TO SAY, NO ABORTIONS, SO A CHILD CAN RUN AROUND CONFUSED AND CRAZED, BECAUSE THEY HAD TWO GOOD PARENTS, BUT LACK ALOT FROM THEM. OH AND THEN YOU SEND THEM TO WAR AND THAT IS SUPPOSE TO BE THE GREAT GIFT YOU GIVE THEM BECAUSE YOUR REPUBLICANS AND CONSERVATIVES, YOU HAVE TO FIGHT FOR YOUR COUNTRY. TRY NVESTING SOME TIME INTO YOUR CHILD, THEY’RE NOT CHILDREN FOR LONG.
SARAH PALIN’S CHILDREN ARE LACKING, IF YOU LOOK AT THE TIME FRAME OF WHEN SHE WENT INTO OFFICE, THE AGES OF HER CHILDREN AND THE YEARS HER HUSBAND WORK AWAY FROM HOME EVERY OTHER WEEK…YOU WOULD SAY TO YOURSELF WHO IS RAISING THE CHILDREN?
IN ALASKA SHE DID NOTHING FOR SINGLE WOMAN WHO HAD BEEN ABUSED, SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES ARE HIGH, HIGH SCHOOL DROP OUT IS HIGH, SO WHAT HAS SARAH DONE FOR THE PEOPLE. ASK THE PEOPLE OF ALASKA.
THE MCCAIN/PALIN TICKET IS DOING TO MUCH DOUBLE TALKING AND YOU REPUBLICANS ARE TAKING THE STUFF THEIR DISHING EVERY KIND OF WAY AND MAKING IT GOLDEN. GET REAL.

I can’t believe Obama’s use of government officials In Missouri to intimate people from practicing their free speech rights. Doesn’t this idiot claim to have taught Constitutional law? Didn’t he ever hear of the first amendement and the “notion” of prior restraint? This is like Orwell’s book “Animal Farm” coming true right before our eyes and Obama and the Dems are the pigs rewriting all of our laws. God forbid he gets elected.

Did you guys see how McCain was getting all flustered and pissed during the debate? Especially when Obama was pointing out the lies or spin that McCain was spitting out? McCains eyes were so red at one point he looked like he was either crying or high out of his mind. McCain, didnt even have the balls to look Obama in the eyes. Is that how McCain is going to handle Bin Laden or Putin? To look down at his $520 shoes and not into his eyes?
McCain = Weak
Obama = Brains

There’s speculation on the web that McCain has broken Sarah Palin…that they tried to upload (via a telegraph-based interface) their McCain-o-soft McVista political operating system too fast and without proper testing. They are blaming the democrats for insisting she talk to the media too soon and the resulting incoherent babble from her will be fixed before the election with the upload of the McCain-o-babble software patch 1.1 which is currently under development.

It amazes me that republicans like yourself believe that we have been on the right path for the last 8 years, and that McCain somehow going to make anything better than what we have seen.

After hearing Palin speak and answer questions in a real interview, she has shown just how little she knows about America and the world. I now know why republicans are so excited about Palin. Even after hearing her make a fool of herself, most republicans still defend this woman ignorance. If they think Palin is the perfect candidate for the V.P. position then, they must be as dumb as she is, because a dummy cannot fool an intelligent person…a dummy can only fool someone who is dumber than he or she is.

LOUISE. NO. I DON’T THINK YOU’RE A CHEERLEADER, SINCE YOU STATED YOU DO FEEL SHE NEEDS TO INTERVIEW MORE AND YOU WANT TO SEE THIS THURSDAY’S DEBATE.
I AM CONFIDENT THAT YOUR CHILDREN COME FIRST.
LOUISE…I LIVE DOWN HWY 27 IN FLORIDA FROM THE VILLAGES AND THERE WERE NOT 60,000 PEOPLE IN SUPPORT OF SARAH PALIN. THE VILLAGES, ARE A RETIREMENT COMMUNITY MADE UP OF 70,000 RESIDENTS, AND MIND YOU THE VILLAGES HAVE SHOPS, STORE FRONTS,ICECREAM STANDS, ETC. SO ANYONE OUT ON A NORMAL SUNDAY AFTERNOON, VISITING THE AREA, WAS CONSIDERED APART OF THE PALIN RALLY. WHY DO YOU THINK THEY DID THIS ON SUNDAY? EVERYONE VISIT THAT AREA ON A NICE SUNDAY AFTERNOON. THE NEWS MEDIA OVER DID IT ON THIS ONE.
OBAMA WAS IN THE CENTRAL FLORIDA AREA WHERE HIS FIRST STOP WAS JACKSONVILLE AND HE SPOKE AT MEMORIAL PARK, HE HAD A CROWD OF OVER 20,000+. NEXT HE STOPPED AT BETHUNE COOKMAN, WHERE HE SPOKE TO A MAJORITY STUDENT BASED CROWD OF ABOUT 2000.
THE MEDIA HERE, (REPUBLICAN MEDIA) MADE SURE THEY FOCUSED ON THE 2000 PEOPLE OBAMA SPOKE TO AND AT AFTER PALIN’S SPEECH ON THE NEWS, THEY SAID SHE HAD A CROWD OF 20,000. SO WHERE DID THE 60k COME FROM. WHEN THE LOCAL PRESS PRINTED THE NEWS PAPER ARTICLE, THEY DECIDED TO SAY 60k, SINCE THEY FELT THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY WAS THERE. SO THAT JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU, YOU CAN’T TRUTH WHAT IS THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH.
DID YOU HEAR THAT PALIN TOOK HER KIDS TO DISNEY WORLD (THAT HAD TO BE EXCITING AND I AM HAPPY FOR THEM, SINCE THE MEDIA SAID THEY HAD NEVER BEEN TO FLORIDA)….THEY MET HER HERE IN FLORIDA.
WHEN DOES THESE KIDS GO TO SCHOOL? SINCE THE AD ABOVE STATES THAT HER DAUGHTR WILLOW WAS WITH HER WHEN QUESTIONED BY A REPORTER.
I TOO AM A MOTHER AND I FOR ONE, CAN’T HAVE MY ON LIFE BE CHAOS, YET ALONE MY TWO CHILDREN….JUST A MOTHERLY CONCERN.

Vote4peace is right in saying Palin is not dumb, because this would speak poorly to the intelligence of the Alaskan people. What she is not is worldly. Our current president is in the same category, and look where that got us. We can’t keep making the same mistake with the hopes of a better outcome.

There’s rumors that Sarah Palin will withdraw from the VP slot. Of course, she’s not being forced out…no, no, no, she’s doing it because of “family obligations”. McCain of course accepted her withdrawal with “regret”, but said he “understands”. He immediately appointed Rommney since he knew this was his only chance if any to continue. Sarah was immediately flown back to Alaska, never to be heard from again. Like magic, Rommney appeared immediately from behind a curtain and accepted. Amazing, what old man McCain can still do in his circus tent.

It should be REQUIRED veiwing for every American to see the interveiw that Palin did with Katie Couric on the CBS evening news. It is very, very, VERY disturbing. Her lack of knowledge, inability to answer questions and rambling showed that she is WAY out of her league. I literally felt embarassed for her and wanted to stop watching out of pity. McCain should not have thrust her into the spotlight this as you will be able to see from the interveiw she clearly is not ready to be VP. Even if I did like McCain, I still would have very deep reservations about voting for him because of the prospect that Palin could potentially take his place. WATCH THE INTERVEIW!!!

Palin is such an embarassment to the American people, and McCain should be ashamed of himself for selecting such a dim-witted VP. Independent Realist: You certainly do not sound “Independent”. If you do not see the broken ways of Washington, the Democrat Party included, you are not being realistic. Anyone who has observed the last two decades would have seen John McCain working across the aisle for reform, working for campaign finance reform, working to cut out the wasteful pork barrel expenditures, and even going against his Party and President. You also would have observed that Barney Frank chose not to heed the warnings against Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, along with other warnings with the housing and financial quarters. You also would have observed Chris Dodd doing nothing as chairman of the banking and financing committees to save us from this crisis. In fact, he got a cozy little low cost mortgage on a second home from the people he was supposed to be watching.
You say that the Democrat Party does not want reform? That may be true with many of those who are doing just fine for themselves. Both Democrats and Republicans need to reform.
I strongly disagree with your observations or lack of it.
We are in bad need of reform, and McCain/Palin have admirable records for doing just that. I am the “real” independent realist.

Your choice today is this: electing the most unqualified person ever to run for president. Or electing an American hero who has demonstrated his love of country in ways few Americans would. He has spent years fighting waste and has a record of accomplishments where Obama has DONE NOTHING.
The simple fact is — there is no choice to make – either you elect McCain or you risk us all on a pretty boy law professor who has done nothing to note in any job he has ever had.
I say this tell Katie, Obermann, Mattews, Gibson, Wolff and the rest of the bias press to go to hell. But they are betting on the fact that enough lies and distortion of McCains and Palins record will change your mind.
Establishing them as the real power – if you want to get elected. The press is out of line as never before.
At this time we need another Harry Truman and McCain is the man who will think of America first unlike Obama.

If McCain wins the presidency and god forbid something happens to him then Palin will take over. Nothing personal against her but she knows nothing about the economy or foreign affairs. She is doing a crash course in these areas and more. I think she is way over her head.

a citizen,
Being a POW or being in the military does not automatically qualify one for president, nor is it the only way that one can serve and show love for their country. Many wonderful past presidents were not in the military. Also, I find it interesting that when the media reports on McCain’s or Palin’s mishaps, Republicans accuse them of being unfair and biased and they’re told to go to hell, yet when every news organization was ceaselessly reporting on the Rev. Wright controversey no one complained about the media’s biases then. Also, McCain is NO Truman.

It’s not Palin’s fault. She is who she is. She’s not ready to be the president but she should not be blamed for that. The fact that McCain’s first decision as the Republican candidate would be to pick her as a potential replacement makes me doubt McCain’s judgement. She might be a good draw for crowds, but that isn’t enough for me and that’s why I am not voting for McCain this year. I like Obama because there’s no drama in his campaign. He’s slow and steady, and I like that.

you are ONLY saying that NOW because you know “Palin is Failing” and”MCCAIN is insane”, and her lack of knowledge disappoints the republicans and makes women look dumb, NOT to mention john’s inconsistencies. You say we should ” be praising McCain for finally giving you guys the election..but, instead, you bash the woman and call for her to quit the race…who looks like an idiot? and you wonder why we don’t join your side”
We want respect and we don’t need you on the other side, we need for you to vote for the person who is going to help you stay in your house or apartment, the person who will help your veterans, your taxes, your retirement, your medical conditions, regardless of his color and religion. Obama is educated and has worked hard to make something of himself and you all don’t want to give him the respect he deserves. He has been scrintized by the media, he did his time in the spotlight. WE ALWAYS HAVE TO FIGHT HARDER AND THAT STILL ISN’T GOOD ENOUGH FOR REPUBLICANS. REPUBLICANS NEED TO BE HONEST… The coin toss isn’t always fair…so rather than make the statement you made AGAIN, how about just admitting, that you’re a Republican, that can’t agree with the performance you have witness from your Republican ticket. It’s not that hard.

I can see why the losercrats are so anti-Palin. Her record is the opposite of Obama.
Obama: Trinity church-black theology, rev. wright, resko, ferrakhan, jesse jackson, black panthers, PLO, muslims of america, ayres, dohrn, lucasris, fr. pfleger, affirmative action education, and the list goes on. His “change” started when he decided to run for president, all talk no action.
Gov. Palin: scholarship, mayor two terms, councilwoman, energy commissioner of Alaska, governor.
Accomplished: record of cutting expenses, cutting taxes, stopping fraud, 86% approval rating. She has proven accomplishments through action, she has a right to talk!

Please read:
McCain is a natural-born citizen under 8 USC 1401(c): “a person born outside of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents both of whom are citizens of the United States and one of whom has had a residence in the United States or one of its outlying possessions, prior to the birth of such person.”
Obama’s original birth certificate has been discovered in Monbasa, Kenya. There is now a lawsuit against Obama and the DNC for fraud, as he is not “natural born” citizen, as he will be not allowed to be president. The DNC and Obama are stalling the lawsuit until the election. You can read facts of this actual federal court case. There is possibility that Obama may be deported.

a citizen…Your choice today is really about electing a man very set in his ways, the oldest President to ever run for office with health risks up the yen-yen with a running mate who will be by all odds, President, and who will not only be the worst President ever, but among the most unqualified head of any country in the world. Every head of a civilized (and some not so civilized) is more qualified than Palin. Or you can vote for a man of high intelligence, with experience and good judgement with a running mate of the highest caliber. This isn’t rocket science, it’s about judgement…McCain’s poor judgement in picking Palin and leaving this country in her hands if he can’t finish his term. That is simply reckless of McCain.

It does matter about McCain’s VP choice, because watching the debate I felt so sorry for him. Thanks to his OLD age and time in Vietnam, he’s so stiff I’d bet good money he can’t even tie his shoes – yet he wants to hold the hardest job in the world. We HAVE to care about his VP choice. 8 years ago, I’d happily have had him over Bush. But McCain is not the same man he was 8 years ago, either mentally or physically. He should have retired at 67.

Please explain to me where in Gov. Palin’s comments comments she asserts we should conduct raids inside Pakistan with out attempting to gain the consent of their Government as is Sen. Obama’s position. In fact if you actually read/listen to her comments you will see she first said that “It’s working with Zardari to make sure that we’re all working together to stop the guys from coming in over the border. And we’ll go from there,” So what this means is that that we will first work with the Pakistani Govermnent to conduct joint operations and if we cannot get their consent we will determine the best course of appropriate action which may be a military strike. This as opposed to Sen. Obamas plan of maybe firing a hellfire missle into downtown Peshawar to take Osama out as soon as we get actionable information he’s there with out letting the Pakistani’s know what we’re up too. Gee that is a real good way to increase how America is viewed in the Muslim world.

I would like to address all posters: I have now heard Evangelicals saying that Sarah Palin was prepared by God for this role and from a recent post that Obama was picked by God. Folks, regardless of your religion let me make one point very clear here GOD IS NOT INTO POLITICS AND HAS NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO DO WITH GOVERNMENT! You want proof? OK you can find it in the Holy Bible and in all versions: Mark 12:17 And Jesus answered and said to them “Render, therefore, to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s” Now your ministers have told you this means to pay your taxes, vote in elections and to respect laws, etc., but in a much larger sense Jesus clearly meant that we are NOT to mix religion with government. This passage represents a clear separation of religion and government and violation of this is, therefore against God wishes. So, friends let’s cut out all of this God has prepared her or God has pick him and so on. GOD IS NOT INTO POLITICS SO STOP WITH ALL OF THIS NONSENSE! Hitler and the Germans though God was on their side too and so did the Japanese! Just how long will it take for you understand this point. Stop insulting God and make your case without reference to divine intervention! Whoever wins on November 4 will do so because he was able to convince American voters that he was the right man for the job. None of your posts will convince the other side to vote for their man so why don’t you find something more constructive to do?
Posted by: WISDOM FIRST! | September 28, 2008, 7:25 pm 7:25 pm
Vote4peace is right in saying Palin is not dumb, because this would speak poorly to the intelligence of the Alaskan people. What she is not is worldly. Our current president is in the same category, and look where that got us. We can’t keep making the same mistake with the hopes of a better outcome.

Joceeco,
I agree with your statement:
“After hearing Palin speak and answer questions in a real interview, she has shown just how little she knows about America and the world. I now know why republicans are so excited about Palin. Even after hearing her make a fool of herself, most republicans still defend this woman ignorance. If they think Palin is the perfect candidate for the V.P. position then, they must be as dumb as she is, because a dummy cannot fool an intelligent person…a dummy can only fool someone who is dumber than he or she is.”

I was shocked at what I read. I checked the court docket, this is a real federal case and Obama and the DNC are ducking the court. Why didn’t Obama present the documents as ordered by the federal court? Why is Obama afraid?
Obama show us your “original” birth certificate from Kenya. Is this the change you talk about?

You are correct it should be the Palin/McCain ticket.
I have never said or written anything negative about Obama, McCain, Biden or Palin (they are all still politicans playing on people’s fears).
There is nothing I can say to sway you towards voting for a Democrat. However, if you look at each candidate without bias (honestly), then your choice is your choice.
I just hope that the State of Minnesota remains Blue, and that is why i love Minnesota.
Look at Blue States versus Red States, then you will see that the quality of life is better in Blue States. Look for yourself.

Good to see Palin sticking to the same story and not changing her mind. Since she has worked two jobs before, I am sure that if she is elected vice president that she could handle that job and the Gov of Alaska at the same time. If McCain dies then she could probably appoint her husband to be vice president. She might want to give up being a Gov ata that time.

Obama has been right all along with regard to no war in Iraq until the Al Qaeda and Taliban in Pakistan have been destroyed. Instead, the Bush administration with the support of McCain went to war in Iraq and put all their eggs in the basket of the military general Musharaff and hope that Mush will deliver Bin Laden and Mullah Omar on the platter. Instead all Musharaff did for 10 years was kill democracy and take the billions in foreign aid from the USA and provide safe haven for Bin Laden and Mullah in the wild west of Pakistan. Obviously Pakistan is unable or unwilling to control the safe havens for the masterminds of 911 leaving the only option for NATO led by the USA to use all means available to destroy Al Qaeda in Pakistan including entry into the lawless region of Pakistan. McCain seem to deal with foreign policy in a personal fashion rather than as free nations. He seems to side with Georgian President even when he was the aggressor against Russia, he tends to side with Musharaff even though he was the dictator who failed to deliver on the commitment to capture the 911 terrorist in Pakistan and failed to respect the judiciary in his own country. Obama is more result oriented, pragmatic and thoughtful and takes a firm principled stance not based on individual friendship with a leader. For god sake just give real change a chance. Enough already of the same old costly wars and support of dictators and failed leaders. Obama makes sense when he talks of new approach to the conflicts in the world. Obama is destined to do great things and time is on his side. McCain has done his part in the past and he has very little to offer for the future.

I don’t see anything terribly wrong with Sarah Palin’s remarks about Pakistan, but it’s just becoming more and more clear that she’s just not that bright. She’s uneducated and unworldly, and just very unsophisticated.
It’s one thing to choose your friends from among the most folksy, down-to-earth rednecks you can find, if that’s what you’re comfortable with. But to choose our country’s leaders from that crowd is just mindless. We need people who can represent us intelligently and with some sophistication. Palin is just not in that league.
And it has NOTHING to do with her gender. Hillary Clinton, Condoleeza Rice, Madeleine Albright are all examples of highly intelligent and capable women.
It’s just Palin’s background and her personal qualities. It just is what it is.

Damn media. Honestly, the McCain campaign has been overly coaching her – scaring the living crap out of her. She has the entire pressure of McCain’s presdiency on her shoulders now on top of being a Governor, a new mother, and being thrown to the media establishment.
The woman is being trashed and unable to defend herself whatsoever.
I tell you, a governor does not have an 80% approval rating for nearly two years, in any state, without not doing something right.
If McCain would just stop the crash course and let her speak with the media and do the talk circuits, then we would get to know her better. After all, does anyone, even McCain, really know every single issue on the table?
Sarah Palin is intelligent and I am sick of the media poking fun at her and distorting her record.
For your information, do some homework on the “bridge to nowhere” and you will learn the FACTS, not the spin.
If the media gets to her, they will no doubtedly not perform their media duties, instead they will enthrall her with their typical trash journalism and put her on the defensive instead of letting her speak.
The media does not like her. The establishment does not like outsiders. She is one of us: received a college degree in a STATE SCHOOL, she’s not an MBA (look at the idiot who has one what he did); not a JD, has not mingled in DC.
Leave Sarah alone – I’m voting for the ticket because of the backlash she is getting. I know Sarah Palin will rise to the occasion. You do not get to where she’s gotten in her life from not being the fighter she is.
Don’t underestimate Mrs. Palin. America loves her and I trust her more than I trust all three Senators who were watching the bank while Wall Street was robbing it.

Enough of the lies about Obama not being a U.S. Citizen. He was born in the U.S. and he is not Muslim. Your comments are based on old lies. Obama is more in touch with middle class America. We are tired of people saying we don’t work hard. Many of the middle class work harder than the rich. Some have lost their jobs because of the greed of others. So stop your accusations. Obama is qualified to lead this country and to get us out of the war we never should have been in. The Bush admin. lied repeatedly to us about going to war – it was for oil alone – when we should have been going after Bin Laden. I don’t know about you but I don’t want any more men and women dying for oil McCain is an angry old man that changes his story every other day. Palin is not qualified to be in office. This country needs change – and it needs Obama/Biden.

louise, we need leadership, and knowledge in world issues, not someone for you to live out your dreams through. The republicans had the same ideas about bush, and now he has been so marginalized by his mishandling of this country, that he has been a non-factor in this latest crisis that his policies have brought about. We can not give the responsibility of leadership to another novice. If she was a man, you all would have laughed him off the stage by now.

Better to talk about the issues. And all Obama supporters are quite happy to talk about the issues, although they might post about Sarah Palin in an article about… SARAH PALIN. It’s called being on topic.
But you want to talk about issues? That’s fine with all of us. The Republican policies of the last 8 years have gotten us into such a GREAT PLACE. We are quite happy to talk about who can bring about real change.

However, I see that Joe seems to have a problem going with the flow on Obama’s campaign. I mean, where has he been? McCain’s running mate becomes rock star, and Joe just..disappears.
Let me ask this, why don’t Joe just side in with McCain? He obviously don’t completely support Obama, or he would be making more of an effort to make himself known and praise Obama for his ideas about the war, and the economy. Isn’t that what a running mate is SUPPOSED to do? Sarah seems to agree with McCain, but I don’t think 100%! I mean she’s already disagreeing on drilling in Alaska.

For some reason, they think this is their country! And we all know who worked hard to build this country! This country is changing whether you like it or not!! Blacks will never, ever go back. No race is inferior to another race. For a race of people to think they are better than another race, I feel they are ignorant and insecure. What kind of man is John McCain ? John McCain (JM) was born into a wealthy military family and has never had to work hard for anything in his entire life. He went to the best private schools and was only admitted to Annapolis because his father and grandfather were admirals. At Annapolis he was a complete FU, he admits this in his book Faith of My Fathers. Despite graduating in the bottom 1 percent (894/899) of his class, JM was admitted to Navy pilot school, usually reserved for the top of the class, not the dregs. He performed poorly, and was never qualified to fly the newer Phantoms and Crusaders, but only the bottom of the barrel Douglas A-5 Skyraider, in a bombing squadron. The “top-guns” flew fighter squadrons.
On a bombing run over Hanoi he was shot down, and rescued from drowning by North Vietnamese (NV) civilians. Everyone is well acquainted with his 5 ½ years as a POW as he takes every opportunity to remind us. But he disgraced himself by signing a confessions as to his “war crimes”. Many POW’s were tortured, not all confessed. His confession was broadcast over the prison PA system day-after-day. His captors and fellow prisoners knew that JM was the son of the CINC of the Pacific Theater ( he told them that up front), so his confession had a demoralizing effect on his fellow POW’s. JM’s contention that he “voluntarily” refused early release is another self-aggrandizing misrepresentation. The US Military Code of Conduct for POW’s states that prisoners cannot choose to “jump the queue”, for obvious reasons. It would have been dishonorable for him to do so.
But the most dishonorable episode in JM’s life was his participation in the 1991 Senate Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs. There is incontrovertible evidence that the Committee’s intent was to cover-up the fact that the NV held captive some 700 POW’s as a “bargaining-chip”, after releasing 591 (including JM) after the 1973 Paris Peace Accords were signed. Nixon agreed to some $4 in war reparations for the NV, but reneged on the deal. The NV eventually executed the remaining American POW’s. The POW/MIA Committee’s official finding was that there were never any POW/MIA’s “left-behind”. There are hundreds of POW family members who know that John McCain betrayed the memory of the POW/MIA’s left behind in North Vietnam.

To everyone pointing out Biden’s gaffes (and he sure does make some), bear in mind that as opposed to Palin he is regularly talking to the press. He went on all of the news networks after the debates for interviews – except ABC, since they said that with Palin’s refusal to appear they thought it wasn’t fair to have Biden on. The other networks all noted that they had invited Palin. She has now created the impression that she is incompetent, based on her interview answers, and the only way to reverse that will be if she decides to start talking.

Regarding the McCain interview on today’s “This Week”… how nice of George to let McCain just rattle on and tell his lies. McCain should pay George for allowing him to run a campaign ad. George has become such a pu$$y for McCain. He just let’s him talk on and on, never pressing him to answer the question and never calling him on his outright lies. What the heck are you even there for George? THey should just have some fake ad man asking him questions, you’d get the same result. Does Big Bad John scare you that much? Please… go do some charity work or something. You’re NOT a good interviewer.

They took Palin on a field trip two days ago to meet nine heads of state and Bono. When she was done she became a bona fide expert on foreign policy. When you add this to the experience she gained looking out of her window to one of the Russian islands, she is now ready to lead the free world. Isn’t that special?
On the way home they took her to the store and bought her balloons and candy.

Obama, McCain, Biden or Palin…..it does not matter which one you vote for in November. They all agree to expand the Middle East conflict at the cost of American lives and at the cost to American taxpayers. It is no different then when President Carter (term of Presidency 1977-1981) said the United States must control the Persian Gulf because it is the hub of oil. Washington had more than thirty years to correct the United States oil shortages problem that showed its ugly head during the Carter administration and did nothing.
Obama quote, “This is not an easy situation. You’ve got cross-border attacks against U.S. troops,” Obama added. “And we’ve got a choice. We could allow our troops to just be on the defensive and absorb those blows again and again and again, if Pakistan is unwilling to cooperate, or we have to start making some decisions.”
Obama agrees with imperialistic ideas. This is a dangerous man ready to strike out at any country for his own mislead principles. Obama proved in Missouri that he has complete disregard for the Bill Of Rights and that he must grow up to real facts.
Obama’s position on cross-border raids sounds similar to the one stated by Palin last night, although Palin did not explicitly say whether she would support raids without the Pakistani government’s permission. When asked in her interview with ABC News’ Charles Gibson this month whether the U.S. has the right to go into Pakistan without the approval of the Pakistani government, Palin said, “that the U.S. has to “exercise all options.”
The oil problem is a United States problem and not Iraq’s or Pakistan‘s problem. The oil problem is every American’s problem. Strict conservation can cut American oil consumption by 65%. American’s fill the highways with their cars with no consideration of self-restraints and conservation. We are a greedy people ready to destroy the common good of man for our own needs.
Do not point the finger at President Bush. Point the finger at yourself, look into a mirror, and ask, how many people must die before I correct my decadence. The next time you use your car think of the innocent people that die so you can drive somewhere. Moreover, know the truth that it is not just a 9/11 or otherworld problem. Americans kill their own sons for OIL. Send the message loud and clear, GET OUT OF THE MIDDLE EAST. Vote for a President that says, GET OUT OF THE MIDDLE EAST and make them keep their PROMISE.
The financial crisis is American people spending money they did not have. That is another story that is blaming President Bush, the banking system, Wall Street, regulation, deregulation or whatever. Again, the American people do not know self-restraints.
Yes, I am a natural born American citizen that served my country honorable in the United States Army and I strongly believe in the American Constitution and The Bill Of Rights.

So McCain supports, youre wasting your time here, it might be better well spent rigging the voting machines that are owned by 80% of the GOP.

“Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts – not a free society.”

Obama Slammed Verbally by Gov. Matt Blunt
Obama called immature for the Hitler Nazi tactics used in Missouri. Obama is a shallow empty word liar. Obama can only think back eight years. The financial mess started after the assassination of President JF Kennedy.
However, Obama does not understand the financial markets or he would know when this mess began. This mess started with Democrat President Johnson and the expansion of the Vietnam War….too far back for Obama to remember. He cannot be a president if he does not know American history.

Give it up and support someone who actually cares about people – who worked in the community to help people get jobs – not throwing temper tantrums like McCain. “Public opinion continues to grow against McCain over the Iraq incident and for his assiting Bush in creating a police state called the United States of Confederate Evangelicalism. The polls are correct and do take into account the constantly growing public anger against McCain/Falin.”
And by the way, Judge, polls ARE the public opinion.

The Sarah Palin interview with Katie Couric was notable for how poorly Palin performed. Making this even more astonishing was the fact that Katie Couric was asking mostly softball questions. After spending a month claiming that Alaska’s proximity to Russia constituted foreign policy experience, who could be surprised by Couric asking about it? Palin’s answer to that question will continue to haunt her for as long as she remains on the ticket – it was so astonishingly bad that even the SNL spoof of the interview made more sense than the answer.

1) These are no cheap attacks. Just videos of Palin herself speaking. Although if you didn’t know that, you’d think it was some kind of cheap attack.
2) 2000-2008 were the “Year of our Lord” which is why America is going down the toilet. 2008-2016 will be the year of our Consitution, and of separation of Church and State, the years in which America will rise again.

Some of the racism on this thread is alarming, though. I mean it really seems like some of the people posting are knitting KKK capes and twining rope. Why do KKK members have to cover their faces? If they had any courage whatsoever, integrity or honesty why can’t they show their faces to the world?

No president can’t totally eliminate handguns, but they can make sure kids with problems don’t get them. Thats all Obama plans to do and I agree. Judge probably believes Obama wants to teach sex ed to kindergartners like McCain suggested, again, not true…he wants to teach them things to keep them from being molested…I have two girls and I support that move. As a parent I intend to teach my kids what to look for anyway, unlike so many parents that expect the government to raise their kids for that. Just for the record, the windbag Biden has one of the worst voting records in the Senate. Throughout his career he has consistently been opposed to modernizing our strategic nuclear forces, which would leave of vulnerable to terrorist country’s who would like nothing better than to see us gone off the face of the map.
He also voted 3 times in favor of the Iraq war, but against the surge which is responsible for out troops coming home, 7,000 by Feb 09.
Most of his other foreign policy positions have failed. He has consistently made bad assumptions and flawed judgements. And this is the guy who thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room. God help us if these two clowns are elected, but I really don’t think the majority of Americans are that stupid.

Ya, and McCain also states Obama took money from them…but what he didn’t tell you is that McCain took cash from them too. Isn’t that being a hypocrite? I also know that Obama voted against the war in Iraq, you know, the war in which we attacked the wrong nation after 9/11? For all we know, Obama didn’t vote against feddie problem, he probably voted against an earmark in which it contained.

John…Obama tried to use the police to stop McCain supporters in Missouri. You can not stop the FREEDOM of SPEECH and the FREEDOM of the PRESS. Obama was told by Missouri gov. Matt Blunt that he was using police tactics. That is against the Bill of Rights that Obama should have learned a long time ago, like in high school.

“I did not hear Obama talk about or voting down the Patriot Act. Possibly he wants to use the PATRIOT ACT, for purposes like in Missouri.”
Judge, my friend, WHOSE Patriot Act are you referring to? I’m sure you’re not talking about the Patriot Act that Bush ramrodded through the Congress to spy on Americans – read our email, search without warrants, all that.
Freedom, Judge, is not something that our Big Brother republicans know anything about.

Judge, my friend, election day is November 4th. They can’t vote against McCain until then.

If Obama is against the Middle East conflict, then why does he now state he would go into Pakistan without that countries approval. That is part of the record.
Posted by: Judge | September 28, 2008, 11:51 pm 11:51 pm
And while we’re talking about freedom of the press, lets talk about why McCain won’t let his girl anywhere near a newscaster. 3 Interviews, she failed all 3…Biden has done over 100. Is he afraid to let his prime VP pick talk to the press? He’s being sexist, if she’s a candidate, she deserves to be treated as such.

One thing about McCain that bothers me is that his campaign manager was taking money from Freddie Mac up until one month ago. If McCain’s campaign manager is a paid lobbyist for the Wall Street tycoons then I don’t think McCain can be trusted. I don’t think any of the Republicans can be trusted right now.

Some of the protestors were throwing things and breaking windows of stores and cars at the RNC. Reporters were even arrested. Protestors weren’t even allowed to speak because the Republicans told the people to shout USA to drown out the protestors. That’s not allowing freedom of speech to the protestors. Some of the protestors were peaceful and still they weren’t allowed to march.

Speaking of Pakistan and McCain trying to say Palin didn’t say what she said…at least twice… Another HUGE McCain lie? And if it is, it’s a big one… Here goes…
Pierre Tristam “There is no record of John McCain having been to Waziristan. No newspaper reports about it since 1982, when McCain got to Congress. I’m not talking about just the national papers, but through Newsbank, the world and national newspaper archive of a few thousand newspapers, newswires, magazines and other sources. Checked it all. No record of McCain in Waziristan before 2001, certainly no record of him there since. How could there be? North and South Waziristan are controlled by al-Qaeda and the Taliban. The last time Americans wandered in there, which was last week in a couple of helicopters that dropped special forces in South Waziristan, they were repulsed after a firefight. The last time an unmanned American Predator drone went in there–last Tuesday, near Angoor Adda in South Waziristan, the same day that Bush was flattering Zardari face to face about “Pakistan’s sovereign right and sovereign duty to protect your country,” the Pakistani military shot it down. The next day, Pakistani troops fired at two U.S. helicopters violating Pakistani air space.”

If Bin Laden is in the hills near the Pakistan border with Afghan, then we should bomb the heck out of those hills. Use a cave-buster. I don’t think anyone could prove where the exact border is in those hills, and I don’t think anyone really cares. If its a “mistake” then tough luck. I’m with Obama on this … just find bin Laden and kill him. The foot-dragging policy of Bush and McCain is wrong on this. It IS important to find Bin Laden.

The sun is high where I now live, the ocean cool waves and the gentle breezes beckon to me. Just something you all need to think about:

Each and everyday is sounds like the govt. of Pakistan is run by a bunch of terrorists. It would be a good idea to get bin Laden and blast the hell out of Al Qaeda before they strike again. If Bush and McCain had not insisted on starting a war in Iraq the Bin Laden would be dead by now. I don’t trust the Republicans on foreign policy anymore. It’s like they cant’ get one job finished before they want to go screw up something else. It’s a disgrace that Bin Laden is putting out videos. He should be dead by now.
Posted by: Steve from Danville | September 29, 2008, 12:02 am 12:02 am
First the Republicans screw up by not catching Bin Laden. Then they start a war in Iraq that was unnecessary. Then they give away the ranch to a bunch of Wall Street geniuses. I don’t blame all Republicans… just the ones that are politicians in Washington. I think Republican and Independent voters need to help get rid of these incompetent politicians.

judge you pasted that same statement in the past 3 blogs i’ve seen on ABC. It’s wrong, Obama clearly stated he wants us out of the conflict…where McCain states he’s willing to stay there for another 100 years. Don’t try to seem like an independent all of a sudden after debating why McCain is the best choice for the past hour. One of my kids is a step daughter, he real father was KILLED in Iraq…what am I supposed to tell her? You want to tell her why her real father died for me? I’m her father now, I was hoping she could meet her own dad, but that is no longer an option. It’s easy for people like you to cry war, but it’s a bit harder when you have to explain it to someone who doesn’t understand why it had to be this way. I’m going to tell her everything when she’s old enough, sad thing is, I can’t tell her in all honestly that he died defending America…because iraq never posed any threat to the USA.

Judge, you maybe a natural born American citizen that served his country, but your opinion and views are a little distorted there bud. I have a very good friend who is American who lost her husband to the war in Iraq. He left 3 great kids and a beautiful wife that still can’t figure out to this day why he died in a land that had nothing to do with America’s freedom and security. I look at these kids and my heart breaks when they tell me they hate the country they live in because it destroyed their lives. Why don’t you sit there and explain to them why their father needed to be sent over there to fight and die for something that involved greed instead of what they were told. You go ahead and tell those kids how this country is any better or safer since their father gave his life. You can’t. I know I couldn’t. SO just shut the hell up and grow a brain for once in your life. You people make me sick. All you worry about is that your idiot McCain gets into office but you don’t give one inkling of thought to the people who are over there and the ones who aren’t coming back. Its the same damn party your voting for who sent him over there to die and what for. Oil. Oil and money. Just so these people could get richer. And if you say i’m wrong, your all a bunch of lying bastards.

Not only is McCain out of touch but….anybody here that advocates voting for McCain who is a member of the republican party the same party that has screwed up and ruined our great nation is either a paid blogger, delusional or stupid. I could add more but you get the picture.
Why should republicans get rewarded for screwing up America from Iraq to this financial mess? Isn’t that like rewarding CEOs with huge bonuses even when they screw up the company. Sure let’s reward the people that screwed things up. Who’s stupid enought to do that? A fool, idiot, moron, masochist, lobbyist?

With Liberal Democrats Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, leaders of the worse US congress in our history, it is sickening to know that they are in a hurry to spend tax payer’s money to bail-out big companies for political gains. Democrats are not worried about the economy to crash because they know that it will not, they are in a hurry to pass this bail-out because most of them Democrats are up for election and they don’t want to look like they are not caring(as usual just for show, lot’s of talk without substance) .
Everybody knows that Congress is eventually going to do something let the Republicans and the moderate Democrats read through the bill and make sure they do it right and put in place safe measure so that this mess will not happen again and not have Liberal Democrat Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid go running with a blank check.
Since Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and their Democrat friends took office the economy has been sour and Congress having authority over financial and budgetary matters it is scary to know they are at the helm. And Democrats promise to clean up Washington, it looks like they are cleaning up our pockets and not they fellow corrupt democrats like Dodd, Rangel etc.

Dave, I agree with you. I feel sorry for Sarah Palin also and i’m a democrat voting for Obama.I think she was taken in for the nieve fool she is. I think she saw a way to further her political career and was caught up in all this VP thing. I’m sure she did say to McCain if you think i can do it, sure but she should have realizzed she wasn’t ready for this and resigned. I am probably right when i say this but I am sure McCain is telling her to ride it out still hoping she can get him elected. That is why they don’t let her out on her own. I think Sarah Palin probably has ideas similar to Barrack Obama’s and wished to say just that but they are afraid she will say more of what she said the last time which is against John’s views. Who said it was wrong to disagree with each other. She may not be ready to be VP but I think all the stuff said about her is really uncalled for. She is not a bad person and I think she has done some good in her own state. But like all politicians, she has stepped on some toes and made enemies. I would respect Sarah Palin a lot more and it would go a long way to certify her character if she did participate in the investigation now going on. Once cleared up, she would be a hell of a candidate in the near future after some experience. If anyone wants someone to blame, Blame John McCain, not Sarah Palin. And I wouldn’t underestimate her in the debates. She didn’t get to be governor of her state without being smart and tough, so watch out for her.

Oooow, it’s probably going to be pretty painful for you Republicans, huh??
A bunch of people at work have a pool going. We are betting on whether or not she runs from the stage crying in “shame” and at what point she will do it. I have my money on the 65 minute mark, what do you guys think??

Democrats couldn’t pass any bill because George Bush vetoed everything they tried to pass. Get your facts straight before making ridiculous statements like that. I can’t help wondering whether what we are seeing is a desperate attempt to lower expectations of Palin to the point that anything less than a meltdown will be spun as a “victory”, despite the fact that this is supposed to be the biggest of leagues and she is there because she claims that she is ready to play. No big league team would be awarded a victory for keeping things closer than people expected and that should be even more true of presidential and vice presidential handycaps. The question has to be whether she is qualified to lead; not whether she isn’t quite as unqualified as we thought.
Moreover, Palin may not have anything even remotely close to the knowledge and competence required of a President, but she is clearly a skilled politician or she wouldn’t have made it this far.
