First off let me say John McCain wiped the floor with Barak Obama last night. But what I would really like to comment on, is the fact that everyone keeps saying that McCain was disrespectful to Obama during the debate as if he was better than him. Well now that I think back over it, it did appear that way. I don’t thing John feels that Obama belongs in the same ring with him. And it probably really ticked him off that this little arrogant twit didn’t take the economic crisis seriously enough and wanted the debate to go on inspite of it. So he breezes into town(unwillingly because he was working), body slams Obama without any rehearsal or notes, jumps back on the plane and heads back to work. Cracks me up when I think about it. After the debate I said to my husband, I’ll bet Obama wishes John McCain would have been AWOL.

McCain didn’t behave like a president last night.
On his content alone, all his rebuttals basically involved his misstating Obama’s stand and trying to fear-monger. He tried distort Obama’s stance on meeting leaders like Ahmadinejad “as suddenly inviting them over for tea at the White House” to play to those who don’t know exactly what preconditions are. Well too bad Obama defined it and explained he wasn’t going to be working under the presumption that they could solve every problem before they even started talking.
On body language, Obama behaved like a president. McCain did not. I could have done with out his snickers and smirks when Obama was talking. Despite McCain’s behavious, Obama didn’t take the bait anyway, which is what we need in a president. Look at McCain all he talked about was wars, wars, wars, oh and the Viet Cong. Is he going to be smirking and rolling his eyes at say, the UN Secretary General because he wants the US to sign the Kyoto Protocol? To smirk at the leader of Spain because of his “cowardly” act of pulling out of Iraq?
Obama said “yes I agree…” it shows pragmatism and diplomacy. You need to win your opponents over, in talks with difficult countries if you outright disagree with everything, you won’t get anything done.

The nature of these debates is that the candidates are supposed to interact on a personal basis, and the use of a first name has always been encouraged in previous campaigns.

He told Letterman he had to go back to DC. Letterman was like go ahead, it’s fine. UNTIL he heard from people during his show McCain was actually doing an interview with Couric, NOT BOARDING his plane to DC!
He also spoke at an event later, and was still in New York until Thursday evening!

I tried to point out when she was wrong and tried to sway her where I could. But I also have a wide enough world view to understand HOW her opinions were formed, which wasn’t entirely her fault. I reiterate: being pro-black does NOT mean that you are anti-white. I happen to base my vote on I believe each candidate would do for this country. I like Obamas tax plan, because I have seen how the trickle down plan McCain supports has failed, and failed big, in history starting back to its inception by Hover and how it triggered the great depression. McCain favors the wealthy, and we have seen what that does to working Americans.
I favor Obamas health plan because based on analysis, it would be more efficent and expand coverage to many more Americans than McCains plan, which would have a net result of Americans losing health coverage.
I favor Obamas stance on energy, moving towards alternative sources faster than McCain would, and favor Obamas stance on closing the enron loophole, which would cause an immediate drop in current oil and gas prices, while McCain simply says it needs more study. McCain has shown his stand towards ‘big oil’ in his past voting record, and Alaska receives most of it’s revenues from Oil.
I favor stem cell research and am pro-choice, something that McCain opposes (Palin is even more opposed).
The list goes on.. so go ahead and vote based on speculation and misguided ideals, I’ll vote for America and the American worker.. which I happen to be.

I don’t think Obama was being disrespectful calling McCain John. Debates are kind of supposed to be more personal, and the opponents are supposed to try connect that way.
Even then, Obama’s body language showed he had more respect for McCain then McCain had for him. Obama was looking at McCain and listened intently to him, and he would turn in McCain’s direction when he referred to McCain. McCain not only didn’t even look at Obama, but was snickering and smirking through out the whole debate when Obama was speaking, interrupted him, and that’s what I didn’t like, aside from McCain’s content.

On Question of National Security & Foreign Policy
Yes, McCain has lots of experience, but what kind of experience? Those were experiences that failed to achieve results, and had left caused McCain to be blogged down in the past with all the baggages. So, a freah different measured approach is required and Obama together with his advisors provides that. If you noticed, i suspect that President Bush is indirectly endorsing Obama, by doing things that Obama has advocated so long..having timetable for Iraq withdrawal, talking to Iranians, going to Afghan and Pakistan etc..
On the Question of Economy, everyone agrees that Obama and his team will do a better job. A strong economy is needed before a strong national security and foreign policy can be carried out.
The two wars and other conflicts have drained all the economic resources, that’s why the financial meltdown, and soon also national security and foreign policy meltdown.
With McCain, he will focus on wars and wars, and neglect the economy in the name of de-regulation, because he simply has no idea how to run the economy. Isn’t that what President Bush did..

I have never been a fan of John McCain ,and like Barack, I find some good qualities in John, but for anyone who watched that debate and still votes for McCain, I feel sorry for them. This is typical McCain. The Maverick wasn’t holding the cards, so the only thing he could do is bluff his hand. On the other side was Barack Obama who only had one ace, He looked at McCain and called his bluff. McCain blinked and then he folded. Maybe poker is not his game. You want an even better President (especially in self-sacrifice) try Ford. Yes he pardoned Nixon, he also healed the country from such a mess and got us pointed back to the front again. He knew that the minute he took office, he put his neck on the chopping block; all for the sake of putting the country back together again. The Democrats went beyond playing politics to destroying the country, while the Republicans thought they ruled it! Both were wrong.
As for Obama, if what I read about Missouri is right (an official statement from a Governor sounds pretty convincing), then he better get his ‘goons’ back under control. It is illegal to silence people the way it was put out out there. (And yes, that does sound like a Hitler tactic!) When McCain went to have lunch on a campaign trip, 3 rather large black fellows started shouting O-Bam-A while McCain was trying to order some food. C’mon, the Brown Shirts did the same thing to the other partys in the 1930s, before they burned down the Reichtag! McCain supporters shout U S A, not Adolf (or O-Bam-A). Obama is a very good orator and is highly educated (though I do have a personal bias against anyone from an Ivy League School: there is too much Kennedy and Anti-Vietnam Protester mentality there, and yes that spells elitism to me), while McCain only graduated from the Naval Academy (and became a Navy Pilot: I’m not always fond of officers, but POWs who can come out with honor have more moral strength than most of us put together), but that is still straying off the question;
What is O-Bam-a trying to make us accomplish? I see plenty of great plans and ideas (yes medical care needs ‘fixing’, and so does our social security – though I would rather have it go to work more than support more welfare), and I also see his idea to tax the rich (playing Robin Hood sounds good, but it won’t really get us to pay our bills; maybe it might make some of them pay theirs, but they are rich and can afford the best lawyers anyway for the biggest loopholes, or even the fastest Visas to get out that much quicker), but aside from ‘research on new energy sources’, where are all the people going to focus their energy on; where are they going to work? (Or has everyone forgotten that you have to work to pay for all the nice new projects he has in mind including what ever rabbit he has up his sleeve; like the wind/solar energy projects that will generate up to 25% of our electrical grid when completed in 10 years? Hydro is limited by the ecologists to pretty much what we have, and Geothermal too for the same reason, so where are we supposed to go to fill our cars and heat our homes?)
These wonderful promises won’t just fall out of the sky, they have to be paid for by someone somewhere. McCain wants us to put our effort into building an energy grid free from foreign oil and might even get there. Obama says 10 years with out a clue on how to do it! (No, solar and wind sound great, but are heavily dependent on batteries for power storage and are a real hazardous waste that even the car manufacturers are still trying to figure out how to deal with, why else don’t we have a car that goes much more than 40 miles/ and the batteries are only good for a year or two when using that much energy.)
Somebody tell me, where is the real work going to be done in Obama’s Nation? After all the rich cats either run away or totally dodge the tax bullet, who will end up paying for his programs as well as the Billions of dollars we already owe? (No, I didn’t forget that even McCain doesn’t want to talk about that problem though he atleast is willing to talk about cutting programs, Obama only mentions he will look at them but dodged even cutting programs.)
Who ends up paying for new social programs? I will tell you how it ends up: those that are working and can afford more than their mortgage, and that means eventually there will be a communist mentality that all men are created equal so all have to be paid equal! That is the real communist dream, but the reality was a lot different; look at how the Soviet Union ended up. Stalin was a dictator too, and even liked by his people when he first went up to take over his government. (Want another Stalin?)
So, who is going to pay for all this and what are we going to work for?

One of the things I find so frustrating is that so many people are willing to accept Palin without asking more questions. If they believe so fully in her, then demand that she come forward and face the same rigorous vetting that all the candidates have gone through. If they believe in her, they should not be afraid of that.

Enough bantering and bashing. McCain is out of touch with “the middle class?” This was a group of mostly students I’m assuming. I, however, am part of Obama’s “middle class.” First of all, I’m not sure I have anything in my closet that has to be dry-cleaned. And even if my administrator husband came with me to an outdoor event, I know he would not be wearing his wool suit and silk tie. I think you should look at what has caused this financial crisis a little more closely. You’ve oversimplified it. For one thing, McCain and others were warning of disaster for Fannie and Freddie in 2005, when they pushed a reform bill. You may be interested to know that Sens Dodd and Obama opposed measures to straighten that out – and just happen to be the #1 & 2 congressional recipients of Fannie & Freddie $$$ over the last several years. There is blame to spread around everywhere, especially in the Democrat controlled Congress.

Look, any one can see that the media (sans Fox) is fully in the tank for Obama at this point. And regarding the polls, you need to look at the internals. Most all of the polls are favoring polling Dems over Reps as the media trys its best to support the “Wonder Kid.”
Think of it this way. The nation is pretty much 50/50 Dem/Rep and it’s a fact that 35% of the Dems (Clinton supporters) will not support Obama. So where is Obama picking up his support that puts him over the top? It’s got to be from one of three sources. 1)Biased polls, 2)Over 35% of the Bush voters crossed over to Obama or 3) New voters. The first two are wrong and the third one is unmeasurable until election day (but could be very valid).
This election is far from over and I would say the same thing even if it was McCain who was doing well the last week or so. Either way, the election will not be decided until late October if not down to the wire.

I think all Obama supporters are between 15 and 22 years old. That is a little scary, and I feel no better after reading thier comments. This group is clueless.

As far as your analysis on trickle down economics, most economists agree with this policy as a way to stimulate economic growth. Another concept that liberals have a hard time understanding is that the president doesn’t have much influence over the economy (or at least isn’t supposed to according to our constitution). Presidents have two instruments to influence the economy – fiscal policy and monetary policy. Fiscal policy has to do with the budget – spending and tax policy. Monetary policy has to do with interest rates and the supply of money. Economists give a lot of credit to Reagon for his economic policies. Now, with regards to the deficit, Reagan defeated the Soviet Union through his peace through strength policies. While it is true that his spending led to deficits, it was necessary for our national security. Clinton did the opposite and cut spending on military dramatically to our detriment which is how he managed to balance the budget. Clinton made us weak militarily and his foreign policy was also very weak which lead to 5 major terrorist attacks on his watch.
Our current financial crisis started under Clinton with his monetary policy. See, Clinton had very little to do with the economic prosperity of the 90s which you liberals love to credit him with wholly. Bill Gates had more to do with the economic boom of the 90s that Bill Clinton did. When the .com bubble started to burst towards the end of his administration, he and Greenspan began slashing interest rates to artifically low levels to stimulate the economy with debt. Bush W has unfortunately carried the torch on this policy which has led to enormoous demand for debt over the past decade which leads to the market meeting that demand with risky loans and we have the result we have today.

One little action I noticed during the debate was when McCain spoke about the Bracelet he was asked to wear by a mother of a Hero that gave his life in the war against terrorism.
