Schlafly Chides McCain Camp for Palin Cancellation

ABC News’ Teddy Davis reports: Conservative icon Phyllis Schlafly is taking the McCain campaign to task for notifying her at the last minute that Sarah Palin will be a no-show on Tuesday when the Republican National Coalition for Life holds an event honoring the Alaska governor.

"I think this is clearly somebody in the McCain campaign who doesn’t understand where the votes are coming from," Schlafly told ABC News. "They only told me this at 10 o’clock last night, and it was a call from somebody down-the-line in the McCain campaign.

"The pro-lifers who paid $95 to come to this event because of Sarah Palin are going to be very unhappy," she added.

Schlafly is expecting 800 people, most of whom are delegates to the Republican National Convention, to attend Tuesday’s reception at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in St. Paul, Minn. The event runs from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. CT.

The purpose of the event is to honor Palin for being a political figure who "not only talks the talk, but walks the walk" when it comes to putting "life first."

Debbie Joslin, a Republican National Committeewoman from Alaska, will accept the pro-life award on behalf of Palin.

Palin spokeswoman Maria Comella said McCain’s running mate will not be attending the event because she is "preparing for her speech at the convention.

"Events that were set up before she was named McCain’s running mate did not account for the fact that her schedule would be changing as a vice presidential nominee," said Comella.

The Republican National Coalition for Life event never appeared on Palin’s vice presidential schedule.

Nevertheless, the McCain campaign did not notify Schlafly of the plan to back out of the event until Monday night, and Schlafly claims that the Secret Service scoped out the event site earlier in the day on Monday. The McCain campaign was not able to confirm Schlafly’s claim about the Secret Service.

Schlafly, who gained her iconic status among conservatives by leading the fight against the Equal Rights Amendment, called the selection of Palin to be McCain’s running mate "terribly smart."

"I cannot believe what she has done to energize the Republican Party and the people who were, at best, lukewarm about McCain," said Schlafly.

Schlafly noted how Monday’s announcement that Palin’s 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, is pregnant and planning to marry the father of her baby, did not alter the views of social conservatives about McCain’s running mate.

"I don’t think that has dampened enthusiasm in the slightest," said Schlafly.

Schlafly added that Tuesday’s event would have been a good opportunity for Palin to quickly address her daughter’s pregnancy and to eliminate further discussion of it.

"She was not going to be subjected to questions at this event," said Schlafly.

Asked what she plans to say about the cancellation at the event, Schlafly said, "I am certainly going to say that it was McCain that canceled."

Wow!!! All the “mainstream” media sites are only reporting anti-palin stuff. Looks like McCain hit a raw nerve…

Come on guys, let’s go at it.
Should I start for the neo-libs? Okay…I’ll start with another neo-lib’s quote.
“Check out Bristol getting drunk. Guess that’s ok for 17 year olds.”
That ought to get things going.
Good Luck.

McCain doesn’t get it. When you make a promise to people, you keep it. People were looking forward to meeting her and speaking with her. Is he afraid of what she might say? That’s not being a Maverick.

News flash: Sara Palin SUPPORTED the “Bridge to Nowhere” and the Congressional earmark to pay for it.
As mayor of tiny Wasilla, Alaska she hired a Washington lobbyist to bring federal pork home to her town.
Oh, by the way, Alaska actually sends money (some people would call it a welfare check) to every citizen of Alaska! So balancing the budget did not exactly require expertese in management.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT SARA PALIN.
We have had two chances now to judge John McCain’s judgement:
1. The war in Iraq that costs $10 BILLION A MONTH, without helping educate our children, fix our bridges, or make the change to an economy based on renewable energy.
2. Choosing someone to be one heartbeat away from being president, without any consideration whatsoever as to the welfare of the nation.
Gambler. Hot-head. Reckless John McCain.
It is about the gambler and hot-head — the one who didn’t send a team to Alaska to vet his VP until the day before his announcement — the man who put HIS needs before that of the country, John McCain.

Posted by: John | September 2, 2008, 4:03 pm 4:03 pm

The only thing worse for McCain than having Palin on the ticket with him is having to withdraw her name from it. What does that say about his judgment when you have to walk back to the American people and say “I made a mistake about this woman”? McCain is making mistakes before his job has even started; and, this is a simple decision, who to run with? This proves that McCain has no passion and no judgment if he is only looking for a running mate to scrap him some votes. Political mavericks, strong leaders with good judgment, and Commanders in Chief don’t test the waters with political candidates they think can bring them votes and then pull them out once they see otherwise. There is no “do over” as President of the United States. Cleary, experience does not equal good judgment, or McCain would never have made such a terrible pick; similar to his terrible judgments on the economy and Iraq that he has been making in line with George W. Bush now for too long.

Palin, Hillary, Obama, nome of htem are really the issue. The real issue here for me is John McCain’s decision making skills. I don’t want someone in a position of power who’s like me. I want the best, the brightest, the most squeeky clean person in the oval office or around the corner from it. Palin isn’t a bad person, just a bad decision for VP. But it’s McCain I won’t vote for now.

I have always been tired of the GOP using Religion and God to sway voters….it should simply be about the critical issues and the best leaders to build concensus and implement necessary change to help ALL Americans, not just the faithful. I thought it was hypocritical that Gov. Palin had her poor 17year old daughter holding the 4-month baby with a blanket covering her belly…if she was sooo proud, why were they hiding this? This is so obviously a tactic and it insults educated women like me who can see right thru this risky move. I wonder how the GOP and the media would react if it was a political family that happeed to be Hispanic or black? Would we see it as simply a “common mistake”?! or, would we call it another example of the lack of American values and a baby out of wedlock?!?
Clearly there is a double standard and hypocrisy…Again, it should be about the best candidates and focus on issues.

Ms Schlafy has a right to be angry. After all McCain has sold his soul to the conservative far right wing of the party when he dumped his own choice for VP either Joe Lieberman or Tom Ridge and picked Sarah Palin as he was told to. McCain is no longer a marverick, he is a gelded old stallion that the right wing will use as it wishs for the next four years should he be elected.

Posted by: Madeleine | September 2, 2008, 4:12 pm 4:12 pm

It’s clear that John McCain only selected Sarah Palin as his V.P. to get female (and conservative)voters – which he needed badly. It may be true that not all Hillary voters were going for Obama – but were they going to McCain?? Highly doubtful. I feel badly for Palin’s problems this week. Nothing to gloat about, that’s for sure. But McCain should have been more careful whom he selected and not pandered to the female and conservative voter. Now, I am sure he regrets his choice tremendously. Shows very poor judgment and planning on his part.

McPain suffers from PTSD. in his diseased mind, the viet nam war continues. he must lead the country to victory. this is his mission.
McPalin is the key to making that happen. with her direct connection to the big guy in the sky, she will do ‘his’ will to brainwash any of the idiots out there who have yet to have their minds mashed to bits by the biggest group of tax evaders in the country, and….
yes, lead your sons and daughters into sure destruction in the ultimate battle of opinions about who is more correct, the 2000 year old myth or the 1500 year old myth.
or more correctly, not whether either of those is more correct but rather which opinion about either one of those is correct.
it’s not too late for reason and ration to triumph over unbridled dogma.
if you get the picture, start typing. get the word out. ‘god’ may or may not be dead (there is absolutely no way to prove or disprove it) but there are plenty of people around who want you do die for their opinion of that word.
don’t let it happen.
and most importantly, don’t let them do it to your children.

You anti- people are pathetic.
Total distortionists.
Save your conspiracy theories.
Even Lindsay Lohan feels the need to ‘comment’… that Palin shouldn’t have announced pregnancy. She fails to understand that the press would have…and McCain/Palin had the sense to try and blunt the news with honest disclosure. Just like the rest of the posters here fail to understand Palin -was- “vetted”. McCain understood the media frenzy to come and warned Palin of that. Palin’ record in office and getting elected against two governors speaks for itself. She’s diligent, knows when to get federal dollars , knows when to cancel projects gone bad, knows a darn sight more than the posters here.

Although it is unnecessary to point it out, but how ironic that the GOP VP pick has more executive experience than the Dem POTUS pick. Have the Dems heard the expression, “Shooting yourself in the foot.” They would be wise to not talk about executive experience when it comes to Obama. Such talk just highlights what a lightweight Obama is. Who in their right mind would entrust the executive office of the U.S. government to a lightweight with no experience? Palin was and is a great choice for VP by McCain. Finally he did something to show the Republican base that he is interested in including true conservatives in this campaign. True conservatives, by the way are the base in the Republican party. She has energized the base and we are ready to go into battle and defeat this Marxist, racist, terrorist befriending, and radical Barrack H. Obama. Libs want her taken off of the ticket because it was a very bad day for them when McCain selected her to be his running mate. What liberals fail to understand is that “diversity” is NOT always a good thing, quite the contrary. It was NOT diversity that made this country great (and it IS great, suck it libs) but diverse peoples acting with the same likemindedness. Focus and goal oriented is how great things have been accomplished by the greatest nation on earth, not stupid ideas of “our greatest strenght is our diversity” and crap such as that. Finally the Republican party can FOCUS and become GOAL ORIENTED behind a candidate…God himself is the only one that can help the libs when that happens…is it too late to push for a seperate nation for Liberals?? Dear concerned citizens of America and mass media of the U.S.A.
As a concerned disabled American Veteran and American citizen, I consider it my duty and responsibility to address the following critical issues facing the voters of our Greatgrand nation, the United States of America [USA].
The citizens of the United States of America [USA] have the ultimate power and responsibility to elect the Right Ticket with the right joint “temperament, judgment, and statesmanship” to lead our nation as well as change our nation’s present and future moral, political, economic, educational, health care, energy, military, and foundational soul.
In my firm professional, personal, and political opinion, the media should help the common voter to explore and discuss the following attributes of the present Republican and Democratic presidential slates:
1. Does the joint ticket have a calm, cool, and collected ” temper and impulse” [Presidential Temperament]?
2. Does each ticket have sound and sustained “Judgment and Caliber”?
3. Does each ticket have a “presidential depth and degree” in regard to their purpose, policies, and positions?
4. Does each ticket have adequate, “understanding and knowledge” of workings around Washington”?
5. Does each ticket have enough “vigor, wisdom and Vision” for the future of our beloved Great-grand Nation?
6. Does each ticket possess enough joint foreign policy experience and ex-poser based on “American Values, Virtues, Vastness, and strong soul”?
7. Are their campaign talk, slogans, ads, plans, and programs based on facts and are they free of fear, fiction, frivolous labels, unfair attacks, negativity, and impulsivity?
If your answer to a majority of the above questions is yes, I suggest you vote for that ticket. As a Independent registered voter I have decided to vote for Obama-Biden ticket. I am sure they will protect our national security, Strong’s, stamina and strong soul. Rebuild our nation from bottom up in all areas of need, OBAMA-BIDEN ticket will once again restore and rebuild our global standing with the use of maximum international humane diplomacy and minimal force if and when indicated.
Yours sincerely,
COL. A.M. Khajawall [Ret] MD., Forensic psychiatrist, Colonel, US-AR / MC Combat Stress Control[Ret], Disabled American Veteran and Iraq Freedom team.
PS: Selection of Palin as his vice presidential candidate confirms common concerns of common American pulic about the Senators Temperament, judgement, impulsiveness and the rest.

Go Tony! I completely agree with you! The only people that would possibly attack her are those that are threatened by her! How dare anyone mock McCain’s abilities to make decisions when the fact that the decision of the democratic party to nominate a man with a resume consisting of community organizer and short-term senator exist? Talk about poor lack of judgment. His number 2 is more qualified than him to be president. He has nothing to back up his speech while McCain and Palin have quite a lot. With his questionable associations, I think your time would be better served defending him than attacking Palin!

Liberals are narrow minded fools. Obuma is nothing more than a street hustler.
Today he said his experience was a lot more than Sarah’s but he only compared his (which is nothing) to her job as
Guess he doesn’t know what her job now is that governor of a major state (Delaware is really a large county) ….well maybe he is confused. After all he said we have 57 states in the union. Give him a map of the north America and let’s see if he can even correctly point to Alaska.
Obuma is exceedingly dull.

McCain chooses political theater over national security by professing his future Vice President’s executive experience fighting for oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge has prepared her for being one heartbeat away from taking on a belligerent Iran, an unstable Pakistan, a resurgent Russia and an unfinished Iraq.
The prime requirement of a Vice President is readiness to step into the office of President at a moment’s notice. Period. As a former naval aviator, it is unconscionable that Senator McCain would take an enormous tactical risk that leaves the nation without a parachute.

To Revolutionist!
Frank Marshall Davis was a mentor to Barrack Obama and Obama admits to smoking dope with him. You can google this man’s name and find that he is a Marxist. So one of his earliest mentors is a Marxist that he smoked dope with. Obama’s father introduced his son to the Marxist radical.
Obama attended a church for 20 years which espouses black liberation theology, which is anti white, anti Jew, and Marxist in nature.
Obama was a Saul Alinsky disciple in his early 20s. This is also someone whose name can be googled and you will find him to be a Marxist.
If Obama is not a Marxist, he has spent his whole teenage and adult life trying to look like one.

We’re judged by our actions. Palin chose to accept the VP position, knowing that her daughter’s pregnancy would have to be discussed (how was she going to hide it?) in the media. She chose to take an 8 hour flight after her water broke, potentially jeopardizing her unborn child.
If Mitt Romney was tapped for the VP position with a special needs newborn and it came out that his teenage daughter was pregnant, American families would feel the same way – you have to stop and get your house in order before serving the country!
Her ambition appears to trump her duty to family, and McCain’s reckless has only added to it. A sad day for family values.

Amazing.I did not believe that it was possible for anyone to have the guts to step outside the corpocracy/politically correct/insiders club at that level of politics. An absolutely brilliant choice by McCain and Palin is *dynamite* — in all the good ways possible. She has more relevant experience than Obama (he’s never run anything! … and he’s running for Pres, not VP!) In fact she has more executive experience than all three other candidates combined! Alaska is first line Pacific defense for U.S. and the Alaskan Governor is “in on” vastly more federal security briefings than that of any other state. [Probably the only Governor that has a "hot line" to the White House.] She’s Commander & Chief of the Alaska Nat’l Guard – a much bigger deal than in any other state. She has much more foreign policy acumen [and classified security information due to Alaska’s unique defense position] and experience than Obama. In many ways, Alaska is a lot more like a country than a state; certainly the experience as Governor of Alaska is more similar to the Presidency than the Governor of any other State. Alaska is the only state that has direct diplomatic ties and armed forces which deal with all of the Pacific Rim Countries – Japan, Russia, Canada, Chile, Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, China, etc. She’s had more dealings with the PacRim countries than Obama and Biden put together. She’s the one who brought down all the corrupt politicians in Alaska and the only one to have the guts to take on Big Oil which, with sleazy politicians, have been running Alaska. She already proved she can play with the big boys and whup ‘em …. Senator Stevens would not be under indictment now but for her. [And the nonsense about the "trooper scandal" is essentially press malarkey.] She can hold her own in a policy debate on any subject with any person … she’ll mop the floor with Biden in the VP debates. She’s super sharp, got major mojo, is tough as nails and is squeaky clean “unbuyable”.
I am *NOT* a social conservative! [Truth be told, I'm a Libertarian.] I oppose her stand on abortion and most other social issues. But she is so well qualified and such a breath of fresh air … I’m delighted. And it is fun to watch the smug fall off the faces of all the Obama supporters!:-) They had this election wrapped and rolling down the highway. Then the wheels just came off. They are scared to death! I didn’t think McCain had a chance, nor was I going to vote for him. I just changed my mind on both!”

Huh? I thought ‘continued discussion’ of her daughter’s pregnancy was kinda the whole point.
You know: how she’s ‘choosing’ to do the right thing, keeping the baby, marrying the father, making her parents and John McCain look great…
…all while selflessly enduring the media glare and the inconceivable pressure they’ve just knowingly exposed her to, in all their boundless Christian compassion…
Ah. I think I see what kind of discussion they’d rather not have…

Mayor of a town with 9000 people????
No vetting process????
Is this some kind of a joke, McCain? I really used to like and respect you; now I just think you’re suffering from Alzheimer’s. I’m really ticked off. You just blew the whole deal.
Oh my god, please tell us that you’ve changed your mind. What happened to Romney???

Yukon Barbie was chosen for two reasons:
Her wacko right-wing politics and her
vagina.
Unfortunately, they forgot to vet her before proposing installing her one 72 year heartbeat away from the presidency.
Too bad. So sad. McCain is now stuck with her and her cascading series of
scandals, lies and just plain embarrassments.

Palin’s teenage daughter is pregnant and the religious right is pleased that she’s marrying the guy and having the baby, no negative commentary from them at all.
If a Dem’s teen daughter was pregnant, the religious right would be all about how awful the parents are, how bad their values must be, how much we need abstinence only education (the kind Palin promotes), how immoral they are even if they do marry and have the baby, etc.
Republican hypocrisy again.

As a lifelong Republican, I’m still voting for McCain regardless.
Palin was not a good pick by far, but what choice do we really have now that the decision has been made. Sour apples.
Let’s just hope McCain doesn’t die in office.

I believe John McCain made a good choice in selecting Sarah Palin for his Vice President. Most people who agree don’t waste their time going from blog to blog, trying to spread ill will.
Instead of trying to defame people with character assasination and slander, they should write what they like about their candidate of choice. We can strive to put the best construction on everything by speaking honorably about people, and not resorting to trying to be-little a political opponent. I hope more bloggers will rise above the temptation to stomp upon the opposition candidate, and show integrety by speaking and writing honorably of those who are willing to serve us in public office. All candidates need to be in our prayers. May God help us to display His love by how we choose to write about others.

Libs, get the peanut butter out of your ears. Palin WAS vetted, for several months and a complete background check. She met McCain several times. CNN just did a segment detailing it.
She was Governor the whole time Obammy was skipping out of the senate, voting Present. He couldn’t make a decision on what shoes to wear.
Palin is going to make a good VP, a GREAT president.

re Tony:”I love the fact that liberals are outraged by her…makes me love her even more.”
Well, if that’s what you base your vote on, that’s OK. The rest of us? We’re trying to elect a President who can get things done with bi-partisan support, fix the atrocities commmitted against our great country by your buddy George W, and knows a thing or two about America (hello? The founding fathers didn’t write the pledge!), the Constitution (hello? God helped make the oil pipeline – let us give thanks?), and FOREIGN POLICY (hello? it’s kind of important to know Shi’a from Sunni, ya think?)
So, as usual, the people who gave us W want to palm off on America a senior citizen with PTSD, anger, and memory issues, and a noobie from the sticks who has ethics problems and supported the secession of Alaska.
Yep, sounds like Republicans to me!

Posted by: VCD | September 2, 2008, 6:51 pm 6:51 pm

Funny how the libs are saying what a horrible pick Palin is. They are scared to death of her. Also funny how Obama is comparing his experience with hers…since he can’t compare his to McCain’s.

Sarah Palin is somewhere working on her very crucial speech, which is a zillion times more important than Phyllis Schlafly’s event.
It would be nice if Phyllis had the good sense to realize that.

I wish Governor Sarah Palin was running for president.
She’s EXACTLY what the people want!! Senator McCain is a veteran, and I respect him for that but it seems like an “off-year” for Republicans.
I hate to think what radical leftist Barack Obama will do for U.S. national security and the business community. He could be worse than Jimmy Carter (gave away Iran to the Ayatollah and the Panama Canal – now run by Chinese companies). I hope this post is not too long to be printed. God bless the G.O.P. and Good Luck America!!

Posted by: Peter Ramsey | September 2, 2008, 7:08 pm 7:08 pm

Regarding Sarah Palin, it is true that she is on the ticket, and not her daughter. Some have tried to blame the parent for the actions of the child = she didn’t raise her right. We should hesitate from making such judgements–how many of us know the full story? I have known excellent parents who did a wonderful job raising their children, yet a child rebelled. I’m not speculating what happened here. Their situation is not my business. My point is that we should not be quick to cast blame on others.
Regarding experience, it is interesting that many who support Obama decry her ‘lack of experience’. She has more executive experience than Obama, and he’s on the top of the dem’s ticket. I’ve been told Barack was a “community organizer.” I’m not really sure what that is. Obama’s V.P. choice has decades of experience in the legislative branch of our government. If Barack wants to push “CHANGE” as his mantra, I’m rather surprised he didn’t select someone other than Biden. Yes, change involves knowing how to get it done, but those who have been in politics for too long sometimes become part of the problem, not the solution. I do not know Biden well enough to know where he stands, but I have to admit I was surprised by Obama’s pick. I’m wondering if it was to balance his shortage on experience. The important thing to remember is a cry for CHANGE can be ambiguent. I imagine everyone wants some things to change and other things to remain as they are. It seems to me the watchword “CHANGE” was thrown out there with the hope that everyone will assume that Obama desires to change everythimg we all want to change, collectively and individually. Unfortunately that is inaccurate. A desire for change, OR, for that matter, the slogan “Country First” should not be an excuse for us to keep from learning where the candidates stand on the issues. There are some very real differences out there (the one that most concerns me is Partial-birth Abortion, which isn’t really different from infanticide). We should not let a candidates rhetoric mask their real positions, and where their loyalties lie. I believe that McCain-Palin, Obama-Biden, and those of other political parties truly desire a better America! The difference is how the candidates operationally define ‘A Better America’. Studying the candidates positions can help see their visions of how the USA should look. I hope more people try to chip away at the way the press try to paint a candidate, to try to get as un-biased a look as they can on who would lead us for the next four years. Hope is fine, but realism needs to be there too. We are not voting for merely a celebrity, but someone who will lead the country with the other branches of government. I would be happy with a McCain-Palin win, but we all need to do our own homework.

WHAT does this choice say about MCCAIN’S JUDGMENT?? It tells me he is NO MAVERICK! He CAVED under pressure from CHARLIE BLACK and the right wing and did not choose Joe Lieberman who certainly IS EXPERIENCED! Instead he chose PALIN who ADMITS she has no interest in foreign policy!! No opinion on Iraq!! He was making a POLITICAL decision, going for his base and Hillary voters. Forget the COUNTRY’S WELFARE if he should die in office – NO, THIS IS THE ANTITHESIS of a MAVERICK!! THIS IS A COWARD who won’t even stand up to Charlie Black!!! HOW can he be trusted to stand up for AMERICA if he is THAT WEAK and MALEABLE??? I am a republican and deeply embarrased by McCain’s actions

Democrats be aware. I am a social worker and most children born out of wedlock are born to young ladies and women in your party. Some have as many as seven or eight children all with different fathers and guess who supplements their income?
Palin will not withdraw. She has more credentials than “O” and has accomplished more in two years than he did in seven. He has spent his life running for election and accomplished nothing. Read some of the writings of his father. Marxism. “O” will take your money and give it away. Like father, like son. He is already trying to feed the world at the expense of American Citizens with his 850 billion dollar bill. Wake up.
I am an independent voter, but I will vote for Palin because she will make changes for the better. Watch her debate Biden and you will understand. It is time to get the people out of Washington who have forgotten that they are to follow the will of the people. Mainly Queen Nancy who thinks that she alone can decide whether or not we drill for oil. She is supposed to listen to the people who are 80 per cent for drilling.
And, leave Palens daughter alone, she is not running for office. Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. What do you suppose we could find if we vetted you??
And by the way, one of the guys in the liberal media stated that the people who would vote for Palen would be the uneducated. I am educated and so are a lot of others who will vote for her. He had it wrong. We will not be taking that group of people from you Democrats.

The liberals all WISH Palin were a bad pick. She’s brilliant and as of right now I’m not voting for McCain OR Obama! But I sure am tempted. I’ll have to see how the debates go. The liberal’s vicious response is one indication that they are worried. And as for those who defend Obama because “he stuck up for her.”….oh how gallant. Like a 2 year old doesn’t know that behind the scenes he’s got all his resources working to tear her apart. Gee…not too transparent!

I guess all the counter programming and timing of announcements doesn’t add up to poop when you make dumb decisions. Did McDumb really know about the pregnancy, the under age drinking photos, the crazy church, the crazy pastor, trooper-gate, etc. Hard to believe that he did his homework on this one. Another McCain snap decision. I doubt she’ll last one more week – blaming the press for its treatment of her family, she will drop out and we will see what kind of judgment McBush really has.

McCain’s first wife was a 1.Beauty Queen, no substance. He cheated on her and his children with many women while his wife was crippled and trying to recover from a bad crash.
Mccain lies abouts his age to meet another 2.Beauty Queen while cheating on his wife, files for a marriage license while married and still living with his wife and kid’s.
Now McCain pick’s another 3. Beauty Queen who is turning out to be the biggest bust in the World of VP choices.

Oh, this just keeps getting better! McCain is hiding Ms. Congeniality away until she can memorize his talking points and maybe even the names of a couple of heads of state or two. He knows she’s not ready for prime time and the fact that he’s keeping her away from his own convention just reinforces this perception. McCain made a VERY bad pick because he was forced into it by the radical wing of his party. If he was a REAL maverick, he would have gone with his Lieberman or Ridge like he always wanted to. John McCain is NOT ready to POTUS!!

The Log Cabin Republicans Board of Directors met and endorsed McCain last night. I’d guess this was part of the reason the McCain campaign insisted Palin drop this event.

Posted by: Eva Young | September 2, 2008, 8:04 pm 8:04 pm

The media frenzy we’re seeing around Palin has nothing to do with a so-called “left” media. Nor does it evince “panic” on the part of Dems (it actually shows glee at the unexpected good fortune of McCain’s having so badly bungled his VP pick — “I want someone explain to me what does the VP do every day?”).
This type of disgusting feeding frenzy in the media is a direct outgrowth of the nasty, scandal-obsessed media culture created by the Republican party under the direction of Karl Rove. During the Bush years, political coverage in the media has seldom been about issues or anything of subtance. Instead, it’s been a protracted wallowing in muck in which the politics of personal destruction have trumped substantive discussion of issues that actually matter.
Now, in the Palin instance, this disgusting media culture that the Republicans have created is turning on them like Frankenstein’s monster did to its creator. There’s a term for this: poetic justice.

Yes, keep blathering on about what an awful choice Palin was. I can’t wait until November when Obamanation gets waxed by level-headed people who see true change in a couple of legitimate “mavericks”.
Nobama is a sleazy scumbag with the most baggage and the least experience of any nominee in history. I know his strong suit is that he hates America as much as the idiot leftwing whackjobs that frequent this site but that isn’t going to garner him much support come election time.

Talk about hot-headed, not only is Biden a big mouth but he is also PRO-IRANIAN.

John, if you are going to say something about somebody, make sure it is the truth. There are very gullible people out there that will believe anything that is written down; even if it is a lie. Sarah Palin stopped the “bridge to nowhere” and the money the Alaskans get is money from the oil profits. She is NOT for pork barrel. Do your research.

Posted by: Dee Jay | September 2, 2008, 10:31 pm 10:31 pm

I agree with those commies who say that Sarah Palin was a poor choice for V.P. She is a woman and she should be at home tending her husbands needs, to include raising the children. She should be setting a good example for her children of what a woman is supposed to do in life instead of trying to take on a mans job. But alas, our nation has lost its way and has become so immoral that it no longer knows what a womans role in life should be. And our nation is no longer producing the type of men who have the wisdom and Godliness to lead a nation or pick a V.P. And people who have come up through the public fool system and believed its evolutionary lies about science and the universe are not qualified to hold a public office of any kind whatsoever.

Posted by: Jay | September 2, 2008, 10:34 pm 10:34 pm

Mark, I agree with you on most of what you say; not the part about abortion and such. There are just too many ways to NOT get pregnant to just kill an innocent baby just because you don’t want it. There is abstinence, condoms, birth control pills and if there is a rape, then give the morning after pill or whatever you call it. There is also a shot you can get once a month; I have a niece that does that. Sarah Palin reminds me of the way the American people, for the most of us, would want our country to be. I like her and because of her, I will probably vote for McCain because I believe she could steer him towards the straight and narrow.

Jay, men have been running the country and I can say without a doubt, they have f***** it up royally. A woman can have compassion, but not Pelosi. Give a woman a chance, even if it is for vice president. I sure did not want Hillary as I believe there has been enough Clintons in the White House; had nothing to do with the fact she is a woman. Don’t want Obama and it has nothing do to with the color of his skin. I was actually for him in the beginning before I learned so much about him.

Having women in ruling positions has always been one sign of Gods judgment on a nation. On second thought, I guess it is the answer. Are you ready for judgment day? Jay

While each of you are busy blathering about nonsense distractions fed to each of you by the MSM, our national and individual sovereignty is being systematically ‘gutted’ by both the Democrats and Republicans through their representative members of the Council on Foreign Relations! It may be said that each of you have failed in your duty as citizens of the USA to defend and protect our Constitution and Bill of Rights above all else! None of you have addressed the 9 trillion dollar debt,or that our American Army soldiers are made to wear the uniform of the U.N. and if they refuse, they are being court-martialed! (google Army Specialist Michael G. New) or that the Iraq invasion was not declared by Congress and was based on ‘false pretenses’. Go to the FBI website and look up Osama Bin Laden. He is not even ‘charged’ with committing 9/11 crimes!!!! When the CIA were asked why he was not charged they said not enough evidence!!!!! Yet he was scapegoated as a pretext to invade Iraq???!! None of you have called this into question!!!! How can you live with yourselves? I encourage my fellow citizens with great urgency to please listen and read Dr. Ron Paul’s message. He is the ONLY credible candidate and champion of the Constitution. Other than Dr. Ron Paul and Chuck Baldwin, we have only traitors and sell outs to the David Rockefeller New World Order corporate socialists who stated in his book that “…if he and his family is accused of selling out our country to international interests then he stands guilty and is proud of it!” The Council on Foreign Relations was created by the Rockefellers in 1920s. Since even the early days of the American Revolution, these folks and their ancestors attempted, then finally succeeded in 1913 to ‘own’ our country through the Federal Reserve Act by 100% control of our monetary system! The Federal Reserve is a private cartel of bankers who each own a share in this counterfeit racket. Do not be fooled by all the distractions! I urge all of you to review the Ron Paul Rally for the Republic videos and listen to what has been said by all the speakers there. Now that we know what we know, it is our duty follow our conscience to pass this on to those who do not yet know what is taking place before our very eyes. 15,000 people came from all over the United States Aug 31 – Sept 3rd to Minneapolis to Rally for our Republic! Ron Paul’s message and his 1.3 million supporters sybolize a clarion call to all the other 299 million Americans who will soon realize we are not Democrats nor are we Republicans – WE ARE EACH SOVEREIGN CITIZENS UNDER THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, THE CONSTITUTION AND THE BILL OF RIGHTS! Don’t let anyone tell you if you don’t vote for their MSM Dems or Repubs candidates its a wasted vote! Its a wasted vote if you don’t vote with your heart and conscience!!! ‘De-program’ yourselves from all this insubstantial nonsense blathering that skirts around the ‘real’ questions! Find out why we Ron Paul supporters cannot possibly get behind any of these MSM ‘chosen’ candidates. Never vote the lesser of two evils because it is still evil!!! Abolish the Federal Reserve, IRS, the Council on Foreign Relations agenda through the U.N. of their plans for a North American Union. Its up to each of us to take back our country.
Wake up! Wake up American Citizens, join the peaceful revolution to take back our country one person at a time! We have nothing else to lose since the neo-cons and neo-libs trashed all our civil rights and our Constitutional limitations on government! We welcome all Americans of all races, all classes, all religions, both genders, come join us! Ask the right questions and importantly, refuse to be distracted!

Posted by: Anisha Dunne | September 3, 2008, 12:42 pm 12:42 pm

Well Anisha, there is no question in my mind that tall buildings don’t just fall with engineering precision into their own footprint without multiple timed charges being set off to cause it. And it is not possible for a 20 minute cell phone conversation to happen from an airborne 757. And it takes more than one afternoon to decide on and rig the charges that took out the 3rd WTC building. It’s also impossible to take 19 cavemen who can’t even land a Cessna 172 and teach them to hijack and fly a Boeing 757 into a tall building all on the same day. It also makes no sense that the USA got Saddam in Iraq after blaming Osama who hails from Saudi Arabia. And how did America end up fighting some British opium war in Afghanistan in the process? You are right, there are many things that don’t add up here. And you are right that Ron Paul and Chuck Baldwin are probably the best answers to current candidate crisis. But even that is not going to fix the spiritual problem that America has. America has turned its back on God and even if that fact had not blinded America to the good candidates, payday is here. Homosexuality, feminism and abortion have taken away the heart and soul of America and now it is growing bankrupt and hungry while making itself vulnerable to all enemies, foreign and domestic. There are plenty of both. God will not overlook America’s sins. He will probably end up giving America feminine leadership as part of His judgment on our nation.

Posted by: Jay | September 3, 2008, 3:19 pm 3:19 pm

Well, Jay, you’re very right I think regarding the spiritual morass that surrounds us.
For those who choose to give in to the infinite temptations of the flesh, drugs, food, greed, power, lethargy, and vampirism, then so be it. We’re each ‘free to choose’ and we own our consequences. It is what it is. For so many of us its really uncomfortable to live in this spiritual decay and I agree, payday is here. However, I do feel we have to try to refrain from ‘trying to fix others at this time’. The only ones who can ‘fix’ this decay are those of us who indulge in these things. Once a critical mass ‘movement’ is made that seeks to improve our judicial/political environment through a concentrated ‘philosophical’ dissent, then perhaps we may begin to see a ‘slaying of the beast’ that feeds off the ‘energies’ of each of us (Fed Reserve/IRS). Perhaps this may accelerate a much needed spiritual healing throughout our ill country. This is after all the time of ‘the great purification’ according to indigenous tribes.
Things are what they are. But I have a very strong belief that people are educable and once they see a way to the light, they may be convinced its worth striving for on their own. I can get behind ‘improving the political/judicial environment because its in ‘my self interest’ do so, hence, the Ron Paul r3volution! ha ha For those of us who can ‘see’ what is self-evident, we can only TRY if it is the last thing we do. Don’t take my word for it, follow your own heart and see where it leads.

Posted by: Anisha | September 3, 2008, 9:17 pm 9:17 pm

Anisha, people may be educable as you say, but usually not until they get scared or feel pain. With Americans it’s usually worse as they wait until it’s too late to deal with most problems. But then they wouldn’t have such problems if they had dealt with them while they still could. Americans forgot God and now it’s too late.

Posted by: Jay | September 3, 2008, 9:33 pm 9:33 pm

Posted by: Anisha | September 3, 2008, 10:04 pm 10:04 pm

Anisha, probably Ron Paul or Chuck Baldwin. It depends on who is still on the ballot by then. I can tell you for a fact though that I’m not going to follow my own heart. God says that the heart of man is desperately wicked.

I have never heard such garbage in my life…I just sat and read through these messages and you must be absolutely crazy. Where do you come up with these things? Do you really have that much free time that you can make up ridiculous lies about the people leading our country. Oh yea, you’re probably living off welfare that I’m paying for and you’re raising my taxes which makes it pretty much impossible for me and my husband to raise our three children because every year more of our hard earned money is going to the government.
Also, where is the respect?? George W. Bush is our president…The president of the United States of America. I see bumper stickers with profanity about him, people complaining, it makes me sick. Look, he was elected by this country and deserves respect no matter what differences you may have. As much as I disagree with Obama, I would never slander him in any way. This nation needs to grow up, and give respect where it is due!!

Hello Palin 08. Glad to hear your opinion while we still have the freedom left to do so. But I wouldn’t be too sure about the accuracy of our electronic election process if I were you. http://rochesterpatriot.com/?p=232 The Bible says that a righteous man considers diligently what is put before him, but a simpleton believes every word he hears. The establishment news media in this country is biased to the far left and they have been lying to us for decades now. I don’t plan to speak well of any dignitary who claims that Islam is a “legitimate faith” while refusing to speak out against homosexuality and befriending the likes of Bill Clinton, whom I suppose you would also say was also duly elected. Granted, they are in office because God put them there, but so was Adolf Hitler and he was deemed as punishment upon a nation that had forgotten God.

To Jay:
We humans end up with ‘wicked hearts’ by ‘ignoring’ the stirrings of our own unique conscience.
Our founders knew and understood how the minds of the people could be ‘perverted’ if they did not understand the meaning of the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and the limitations placed upon our own government by our Constitution.
If the people lacked this understanding, they would not feel ‘stirred’ with moral indignity to defend these sacred secular documents!
Hence the multi-generational, dumbing down of our education system in the hands of the Federal government who make sure that by this time the mass majority of the population would be sufficiently comatose towards their own sovereignty, thus when you look them in their eyes and tell them this, you get this vacuous stare and knee jerk reaction to call us ‘conspiracy theorists’! LOL
The past sixty years of finely tuned Nazi MKultra mind control through media, ‘slavucation’, drugs, TV and of course we mustn’t forget trauma, has been mostly a success for the globalist take over of the United States and the rest of the world. Behold and welcome now to the fourth Reich.
By all the legislation passed since 9/11, we barely have any limitations left upon the executive branch and our Bill of Rights are trashed by both the Patriot Act and Military Commissions Act.
It is self evident by these and many comments by so called ‘Americans’, that they lack the necessary understanding of their rights and laws to such an extreme extent that they continue to hand over their precious inherited sovereignty to these heartless, soulless representatives of globalism; AIPAC, Council on Foreign Relations,Bilderberg, Tri-lateral Commission through their agents: Bush, Cheney, Obama, McCain and all the other hand picked candidates who ran for Republicans this year.
The only one who was not hand picked was Dr.Ron Paul and we know the hideous treatment he has received.
Oh, and to the startled woman, Palin08:
I can assure you dear I am very well off and through my own labors too contrary to your wishful assumption. I hate to disappoint you, but its the multi-national corporations nowadays that receive all the ‘welfare’.
Oh, and BTW, psuedo POTUS Bush was never elected, he was ‘appointed’ by the Supreme Court. That means his presidency is ‘illegitimate’ under the Constitution and no, just because the media says he is president does not make him so!
Sadly, McCain is a brain-dead broken man who, while left alone in a room in Iraq was found staring in a stupor talking nonsense to himself, according to two soldier witnesses in Iraq. (http://www.rense.com/general80/msdsdv.htm) This is very, very sad.
God only knows what the covert government did to him but he is in their hands now.
And this is who you give your votes to???!!!

Anisha, I’m used to being called names by those who are so simple that they buy every word the news media and government feeds them. Nothing new there. As for McCain, Palin was probably a good move for his campaign because it allows him to cloak his leftist leaning form of government with a woman who still hasn’t figured out that she is about to be eaten by the machine because she doesn’t believe in conspiracys. His Palin pick swayed James Dobson and many other so-called conservatives. But McCain ain’t foolin this country boy. Not 3 weeks ago he was advocating gay civil unions. Before that he publicly admitted that he didn’t even own a gun in one of the debates. And has voted against gun rights while voting for abortion on demand for years. And in the midst of all of that he affirmed Ruth Bader Ginsburg to the supreme court. How much worse can you get? The Constitution is just a piece of paper to him and he considers the Bible to be meaningless to modern times. His style may be a little different from Obama, but the substance is the same. He appears to be controlled by the likes of Kissinger, Taxafeller, Bildeberger and Rothschilds. His idea of morality is whatever gets him elected. I understand he even left his first wife when she was dying of cancer. Not my kind of patriot. Patriots like that need to go back to the Hanoi Hilton and stay there. Neither party will give Ron Paul or Chuck Baldwin the time of day or a chance to speak without ridicule because both parties hate the truth and are willing to sell the country to its foreign enemies which have become domestic enemies.

Please, McCain! Get rid of Palin. Please, please, please! As an American, I beg you!

Actually I’m glad McCain picked Sarah Palin. It took this race from a no hope, sure thing, communist race, to a rather interesting mix of feminism and leftism pitted against racism, modernism, communism and homosexuality. What makes it interesting is figuring out which side represents which.

Jay, it was great talking to you. Perhaps I’ll see you during the ‘New Renaissance’ that is sure to come as the sun rises! I have worked in my own way 25 years for this movement to rise up and it is self evident to me that it is here and will soon reach a ‘critical mass’. I will always continue to encourage our youth to study and understand their inheritance from our founders. Never, never, give up! Dr.Paul will make an announcement to all at the National Press Club in D.C. on this Monday. I Look forward to that and I am curious what he has to say. I am very excited about this movement to take back the essence of our country and ‘restore the Republic’, the Constitution, Bill of Rights and Declare our Independence once again from these foreign and domestic enemies right there in the White house and the two traitorous parties! Vive America!

Good talking to you too Anisha. Things can only get so bad and so corrupt before they have to get better. Question is, at the current rate, who will survive long enough to see it?

Posted by: Jay | September 6, 2008, 4:13 pm 4:13 pm

So why was she headed for this Coalition for Life event in the first place, when she is supposed to be running a state ? And what’s with this toting the baby everplace like it’s some sort of trophy ? And how do the keep the kid so unnaturally quiet ?
The woman is so over the top. Many long-term Alaskans, myself included, are appalled at the press we are getting.
And what about her mad dash from a (secret, inner circle) ‘energy conference’ in Dallaas (which her unelected husband ALSO attended), to a regional medical center which does NOT have a newborn intensive care unit, to deliver a preemie, known special needs baby ? Why aren’t the Right-to-Lifers all over her for showing such poor judgement ?
None of it makes any sense, but there is no doubt of her visceral appeal to many people. That in itself is enough to make you wonder who she really is and what she really represents . . .

Irina, I just might be able to answer some of those questions for you, but you might not like the answers.
First of all to put things in perspective, I don’t think very highly of the feminist movement because it has broken down family units and killed innocent babies across the nation and the world while increasing homosexuality to all time highs and thus the diseases that go with it.
But to answer your questions about governors going to Coalition for Life conferences, it should be very obvious that governors more so than other people have a vested interest in making sure that the next generation of citizens are safely brought into the world instead of being murdered by an abortionist. Secondly, since feminists are typically clueless about family life and baby issues, let me as a man clue you in about downs babies specifically. They are usually very quiet children with an unusually happy disposition most of the time. As for toting the baby around, this concept, which is foreign to feminists is a naturally recurring theme in creation. It even happens in the animal kingdom,ie.. the Australian kangaroo and joey comes to mind. It’s the way God made it from the beginning and it worked very well until feminists decided that they wanted independence and liberation because they are so selfish and self absorbed that they care about nothing and no one else but themselves, including their children. Thirdly, you ask what her husband was doing at the same meeting Sarah was attending as if somehow it is none of his business when it comes to his wife and or public policy. Granted, Sarah claims to be a feminist,(www.feministsforlife.org) but even with her unnatural tendency to be a dominant public figure as a woman, nature still holds enough sway over her that she wants to be with her husband because when they were married the two were joined as one flesh. As for the mad dash and baby delivery, granted, it would have been more convenient to stay at home and give birth, but modern liberated women don’t seem to want to do that anymore and the family suffers yet again as a result.
Hopefully this answers your questions and if you have any more questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Since neither McCain nor Obama meet the legal birth qualifications for the presidency, why not just do the right thing and vote for Ron Paul as should have been done in the first place? It would save everyone a lot of trouble and allow America to keep its freedom and constitution a little longer besides. Why wait until the last minute and go through all this wrangling and infighting only to figure out that neither Obama nor McCain are eligible for the office? Just get behind Ron Paul so we can have a real president that is not controlled by the New World Order. He was close personal friends with Ronald Reagan and Reagan even campaigned for Ron Paul.

McCain nor Obama meet the legal birth qualification…??? Jay your an idiot. A complete and self made moron. I like Ron Paul and I think he’d make this a better country, but when idiots like you comment you exemplify why the world justifiably says 50% of Americans are totally misinformed lazy idiots…
McCain was born on a US base in the Panama Canal Zone. He is by all means a legal candidate.
Obama was born in Hawaii. Last I checked, when he was born Hawaii had joined the union.

listen…i respect everyone’s right to vent, but if you really want to be taken seriously try using spell check.
I agree with Charles…get a clue people. Get a high school education and then you can feel free to say what you like about either candidate, but until then…shut up!
