The Note: Palin Parries as Rollout Reaches Phase Two
ABC News’ Rick Klein writes in Friday’s Note: So Gov. Sarah Palin is a God-invoking, line-memorizing, superpower-provoking, nuke-u-lar pronouncing, dangerously unprepared Bush-Cheney clone (if she even knew what the Bush Doctrine was) . . .
Or she is a Lincoln-quoting, homework-doing, Russian-scaring, regular-acting, ready-to-lead energy expert of a hockey mom (and who cares who knows what the Bush Doctrine is, anyway?).
The Palin who sat down with ABC’s Charles Gibson Thursday (with more to come Friday, on "World News" and "20/20") was — in keeping with the phenomenon that has flashed across the political landscape these past two weeks — pretty much whatever you wanted her to be.
(Similarly, Sen. Barack Obama’s planned pushback — not the first or second or third time his campaign has signaled a new aggressiveness — is pretty much whatever you want it to be, too.)
(And the 9/11 pause didn’t spread into 9/12: New ads, with a new tone — Obama goes both positive and negative — with the sharper one featuring Obama saying McCain has become an out-of-touch Washington insider. John McCain pushes back hard, saying Obama folks have been "disrespectful" to Palin, even as the media declares en masse that Team McCain is not playing fair.)

On the key question, Palin, R-Alaska, didn’t hesitate: "I’m ready," she said. "I answered him yes because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can’t blink, you have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we’re on, reform of this country and victory in the war, you can’t blink."
Yet the first day of this next stage of Palin’s public definition again showed how much we still don’t know about the would-be No. 2 (and, perhaps, what the would-be No. 2 still doesn’t know about the job) — and how much is at stake in this phase of her public rollout.
On the question of the Bush Doctrine, no real answer: "She stopped short of saying whether she supports ‘anticipatory self-defense,’ leaving open the question of whether she subscribes to the Bush Doctrine," per ABC’s Teddy Davis and Rigel Anderson. "Asked if Palin’s bar for the use of force is higher than the one contained in the Bush Doctrine, the McCain-Palin campaign said that it was a highly conceptual question that Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., himself may have never answered."
On Pakistan, maybe a shade toward Barack Obama. "Gibson also pressed Palin three times to give a yes or no answer to the question of whether she believed that the United States has the right to launch crossborder attacks on Taliban and Al Qaeda targets inside Pakistan, a close ally of the United States, without the Pakistani government’s permission," Michael Kranish and Farah Stockman write in The Boston Globe. "Earlier in the campaign McCain had ridiculed rival Barack Obama for saying that he would authorize such unilateral crossborder actions, emphasizing that cooperation with Pakistan is essential."
On the Russian-Georgian conflict, she went maybe a smidge further than McCain. (And she knows NATO’s Article 5.) "If John McCain were asked, ‘would we act to defend another NATO member that was invaded?’ the answer would be yes," she said.

Santorum: Money Will Not Defeat Obama, Ideas Will
Rick Santorum's Full Speech at CPAC 2012
You guys are a real out of touch piece of work. Anything that anyone on the right says you will attack and take out of context. You all are so transparent into who you are supporting and the funny thing is is that you think that middle average America doesnt know it. We know it, we see it, and we will continue our support for Gov. Palin and the next President of the United States John McCain.

Once again, more East coast liberal biase in the media. Even a comment on libersal leaning NBC this morning – Gibson’s attitude toward her, tone of voice, talk-down to type questions were shameful. I seldom watch ABC but tuned in to see excerpts of the Palin interview. Gibson’s a hi-paid bush leaguer. Ld
Posted by: Lin | September 12, 2008, 9:03 am 9:03 am
Judging from her obvious lack of experience, I think she did quite ok during the interview.
Those that gave her a crash course on foreign policy have done a pretty good job. However, they will still need to do more before the debate with Biden.
From what we saw last night, she was repeating lines like someone rehearsing a script and she seems pretty nervous at times. She was much more comfortable with questions on energy policy than she was on foreign policy. I ll give her 6 out of 10.
Posted by: Ro | September 12, 2008, 9:03 am 9:03 am
Well, what do we call them mavericks or WAR MONGERS? Oh, the rest of the interview indicatted that she is not ready for this JOB.

It’s funny how people expect, no, DEMAND to know every one of Palin’s positions in a two week period, but yet, nobody knows what “hope” and “change” BHO has in store for America after 2 years of asking questions.

you think that that woman should be deciding whether or not we launch Nuclear attacks on someone in the world?
you think she is qualified and knowledgable to decide whether commercial airliners full of ASmericans should be shot down over NYC and Washington?
if you say yes…you are either lying or crazy…
it is not just everything on the right
it’s that the right is trying to spin this election just like they did with 2004…and look what that got us…
it is not Palin’s fault…she is a pawn
but she is like picking someone who was running for your town board because she is a woman and saying she is going to be leader of the free world…and the defenses that we see republicans putting up about that interview last night prove that it is not about the safety and welfare of our country…it is about them holding power.
and it is disgusting.
that interview last night should scare the s#$t out of everyone watching it.

NO ONE AT ABC NEWS KNOWS WHAT THE BUSH DOCTRINE IS: September 21, 2001 CHARLIE GIBSON DIDN’T KNOW: Senator Daschle, let me start with you. People were looking for a Bush Doctrine. They may have found it when he said the war on terror will not end until every terrorist group of global reach has been found, stopped or defeated. That’s pretty broad. Broader than you expected?
December 9, 2001 GEORGE WILL DIDN’T KNOW: The Bush doctrine holds that anyone who governs a territory is complicit in any terrorism that issues from that territory. That covers the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. Second, the war on terrorism is indivisible, it’s part of the Bush doctrine.
September 20, 2001 PETER JENNINGS DIDN’T KNOW: . . . Claire, the president said at one point, ‘From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime.’ Should we be taking that as the Bush doctrine? CLAIRE SHIPMAN reporting: I think so, Peter,
December 11, 2001 GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS DIDN’T KNOW: Two years ago, September 1999, Bush gave his first speech when he was running about terrorism. And his first–had the first explanation of the Bush doctrine, that if you harbor a terrorist, you’re going to be attacked. The Bush White House is putting this out, saying it shows that Bush was very prescient, but that was only one speech given in the campaign.
January 28, 2002 BOB WOODWARD DIDN’T KNOW: This is now the Bush Doctrine . . . , namely that if we’re attacked by terrorists, we will not just go after those terrorists but the countries or the people who harbor them.
January 29, 2002 GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS DIDN’T KNOW: It was striking and significant that the president really expanded the Bush doctrine. If a nation builds a weapon of mass destruction–Iraq, Iran or North Korea–we will reserve the right to take out those weapons even if we’re not attacked or even if there’s not a threat.
March 19, 2004 TERRY MORAN DIDN’T KNOW: That was the Bush doctrine we just heard. On this one-year anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, President Bush offered a very broad justification of American leadership in the world under him since 9/11. Not just since one year in Iraq. For American voters as an argument that the country is safer, but more as you point out, for the world, which has been divided by his leadership, that Iraq is knit, in his mind, very firmly into that war on terrorism. One omission which I believe will be noted around the world, he made no mention of the role of multilateral institutions, the UN and others, in this fight against terrorism. In his mind, it’s clear it’s American leadership with others following along.
May 7, 2006 GEORGE WILL DIDN’T KNOW: Now the argument from the right is the CIA is a rogue agent because it has not subscribed to the Bush doctrine. The Bush doctrine being that American security depends on the spread of democracy and we know how to do that. The trouble is, Negroponte, who is considered by some of these conservatives the villain here and an enemy of the Bush doctrine is the choice of Bush, which makes Bush an insufficient subscriber to the Bush doctrine.

I know what the Bush doctrine is. It was regularly debated a few years back and PBS had documentaries dealing with it. America is dumb and Palin is a symptom of that ignorance. And I admit I am not qualified to become vice president.

When macho journalists like Charlie Gibson deliberately try to fluster Sarah Palin, and Hollyweird types like Matt Damon suggest that a woman isn’t strong enough to lead a country, it makes me all the more determined to vote for her. I’ve been a Democrat my entire life, but in this election I will stand with the Republicans. I never thought I’d see the day when Democrats would try to destroy a woman simply because she doesn’t fit their model of feminism, or share their political values. I am sickened by these attacks on this woman. Charlie Gibson and Matt Damon can go straight to you know where. And so can the rest of the left-wing Socialist Democrats out there.

her answer about Israel was incredibly reckless, showed signs of someone who doesn’t understand the carefulness and precariousness of the situation and words used… and makes us and any attempt at a peace process there… that much closer to impossible if she were the freakin VP or backup[ leader of the free woprld…
do you all understand that
do you all understand that the people asking to be elected to that office that is the worlds best hope at negotiating peace in the middle east can’t make statements the way she made statements?
do you understand that she should have a grasp of the details of the doctrine that has been the guiding principal that got us where we are? as she is asking to lead us out of that?
do you understand the importance of knowing the basic basic details of the challenges we face?
If like D Cheney she suddenly was given …9 months from taking office this coming year…she was given the authority to shoot down commercial jetliners would she know the ramifications …if the airline wasn’t american…if it was Russian? if it was British…or canadian? or it was a middle eastern airline?
this woman is the worst choice for Vice president and show s clearly that John mcCain should not be picking the people who are going to be getting us out of this mess…
between that and thefact that he has already picked the lobbyists who got us in as his leadership team and the ones whio literally wrote his policy platforms on everything
what is anyone thinking that this man should be anywhere near the white house after the last 8 years.

The interview was pretty bad. I now understand their reasoning for keeping her hidden.
You know it’s bad when the Republicans come out in great numbers calling the media bias blah blah blah.
Watching her interview with Gibson and Biden’s interview on Meet the Press (Biden was asked harder questions)I don’t see how she’ll face up against Biden.

Wow,
The mainstream media seems to have remembered what their job is. Enough of the unbalanced ‘fairness’ that compares lies to gaffs, and manipulation to
honest campaigning.
Thank you Mr. Gibson and thank you ABC News for the way in which you have handled the task some thought was going to be another free advertisement.
There may yet be hope for an honest election.

everyone should be scared of the fact that she had NO IDEA what the Bush Doctrine was…she didn’t know any of the details of it…besides that it had to do with foreign policy.
or that she answered the way she did on Israel and Russia… and actually included the idea that you can “see Russia from the tip of Alaska” as foreign policy know how.

What about that Lincoln comment? “Harold Holzer, a prominent Lincoln scholar and author of multiple Lincoln biographies, said last night that Palin’s original comment that US troops are on a task from God does not follow Lincoln’s quote. ‘I think there is no computing the precise Lincoln quote with her own quote,’ Holzer said. ‘Lincoln sought guidance from God, he didn’t tell people that God was guiding him. While I’ve never been a mayor or a governor, I am smart enough to know that I expect someone better, smarter, and more qualified than I to lead our country. I’m all for our elected officials having “human” qualities and backgrounds that enable them to understand the plight of everday families. My favorite from yesterday was Palin linking 9/11 to Iraq. I have children in elementary school who understand and know Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Front Page of Washington Post: “Gov. Sarah Palin linked the war in Iraq with the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, telling an Iraq-bound brigade of soldiers that included her son that they would “defend the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans.”

Charlie lobbed Palin softball questions and she struck the hell out. Jesus folks, nobody on the world stage is going to go easy on Palin cause she’s a woman or just plain ignorant. In fact, just the oposite, if she were to, god forbid, ascend to the presidency, we’d be used and abused and be the laughing stock of the world (as if we aren’t already).
For example: SHE CAN SEE RUSSIA FROM LAND IN ALASKA!! How elemetary do you have to phrase your questions to the prospective VP to keep from exposing THAT!
Come on people, have a little pride for your country…even you deserve better that Palin.
Posted by: Bob | September 12, 2008, 9:43 am 9:43 am
In my view Palin was very fluent and knowledgeable about the issues. She had to be very careful about what she said as the media frenzy of the past two weeks demonstrated that they, including the bloggers, will take whatever she says and spin it out of control. They (and you) are already doing that with what she did say. You criticize Palin, but what about the bumbling of Barak Obama and Joe Biden. Their comments show a lack of thought, and a lack of tact. If we look merely at the difference between carefully thought out comments effectively delivered and the stammering and misspeaking we have seen, I will take Palin’s effective communication any day.

So give it a rest with the Gibson was too hard on her line.

They SHOULD try to fluster her, at every point. This is not a joke. She needs to be grilled and re-grilled. If she can be flustered by a network news anchor, what is she going to do when she has to make life and death decisions concerning our troops and our national safety.
Ted Koppel on NPR has it spot-on, the MSM has the obligation to the entire Nation to test her emotionally, intellectually and poltically in the next 54 days. As he said, to find out she is not qualified to lead on Nov 5th would be the greatest tradegy of our time.

Mike Witt–whoever you are–you’re very perceptive. You actually have this right.
Palin did a great job last night, and I think it steams the left wing in this country that she’s so knowledgeable and in touch with the American people. They think the conservatives have ‘stolen’ their stuff—”What, a WOMAN? That’s OUR schtick!” “What? WORKING CLASS ROOTS and a blue collar husband? That’s OUR schtick!” “What? She has EMPATHY? She LISTENS? That’s OUR battlecry” Waa Waa.
Here’s a totally qualified, bright, well-educated person who is knocking the socks off America and the political elite are scared. You know, the Repubs go into a totally hostile arena with the media–it’s ‘obamaland’. Yet, the substance of their speech is right on target and resonates with average-everyday working Americans. Every where I go–the grocery store, neighborhood, local high school football games–and in talking with all ages of voters–the old near-retirement working guy and the college freshman voting for the first time–they’re all excited about the McCain/Palin ticket. They’re not “obama-haters”–they think he’s sincere in what he believes, but they don’t think he has it right in terms of economy and public policy. Oh,sure, there are pockets of Obama supporters, and I think they really believe he will lift them up to prosperity. In truth, I can’t fault them for wanting that. I just happen to believe his ideas for prosperity aren’t in the best interests of everyone. Alot of ‘common America” is seeing that. I respect other’s thoughts so long as they articulate them reasonably and don’t resort to simple name-calling and jabs.
I just want to assure the naysayers who feel so obliged to rip and tear–it’s going to be all right. The country will be well taken care of. You will likely be suprised how well everything turns out. I know it’s scary to let go of some of the ideas you’ve held onto for so long, but middle America has been living these other ideals for a long time and they work great! In a democracy, every one has a voice. I think we should all use ours civilly with one another.

Some of Gibson’s questions, in fact many, were traps. Hypotheticals often have no right answers becuase in the real world, no deicions are made in a vacuum and instantaneouly. Let’s take the question about Russia invading Georgia. If this happened, regardless of who is the president, no one is going to ask him “will you invade?” and expect an answer in 3 seconds.
The president will most likely call in his advisors, speak with the other NATO countries, look at all of the options, then make a decision. The question is stupid to begin with.
Also, Gison misquoted Palin about the war in Iraq being God’s plan. she called him on it but he said “Exact words”. But they weren’t. He completely changed the meaning of what she said when she said we should pray that this is a task from God”. Gibson must have gotten hs research from the Obama campaign or a lefty blog.
In part 2, he should apologize to her and correct his own mistake. I will not hold my breath.

I thought Charles Gibson did his job in questioning Palin in the manner he did. Unfortunately, neither he or other major media news reporters follow the same when questioning Sen. Obama or Sen. Biden. They seem to often throw softball questions at the Obama/Biden ticket.
Even Bill O’Reilly showed respect (unlike Gibson who acted like a college professor in his demeanor) in toughly probing Sen. Obama but got answers from him so that the people could decide. That’s the kind of journalism we need in this country!

Say what you will about Governor Palin, the idea of BO being president and teh fear that instills in people is much more powerful than any fear the news media tries to drum up about Governor Palin. You are kidding yourselves if you think people are going to jump over to a blithering BO over an interview with Charlie Gibson. Have you seen BO try to answer questions? It’s painful to watch him.

When will the craziness stop? Palin has many honorable qualities but readiness for the White House is not one of them.
It is like taking an Elementary Honor Student and giving her the SAT. Not a fair test. But then…the Elementary Student should not be applying for college!
Palin needs to finish her time as a Governor and then get some diverse experience outside of Alaska either working internationally or at the Federal Level. She needs an opportunity to travel more and expand her world view.
Then…and only then will she be ready for consideration for the White House.

HP Boston: “Where has the Democratic Party gone?” HP, some of us are still here, waiting to go to the polls and vote for McCain-Palin. Don’t worry. Half of the Democrats I know who are voting for McCain are older people who don’t post on the Internet. And they don’t give a damn what idiots like Matt Damon or Oprah think. They vote like the decent, moderate and conservative people they are, and they don’t vote for socialists. We’re with you, HP. Let the left-wingers keep trashing the war hero and the woman who actually lives a Christian life instead of just talking about it. They’ll doing more harm than good for their candidate.

I am very dissapointed in most all of ABC’s reporters!
It clearly shows me that ABC is BIASED against the Republicans and clearly for the Democrats.
Charly Gibson would not ask Biden or Obama those same questions so many and demand a YES or NO answer. Who does ABC think they are? Some questions regarding National security should never be answered with a yes or no answer. Charlie I dare you to ask Biden those same questions without his knowledge that you are going to ask them, and if he doesnt answer with a yes or no, continue and badger him and see if you make him angry. After your persistense regarding yes or no, I think Sarah handled herself well, actually she had a right to put you in your place but she acted a Lady and allowed your silly questions.

Your “WAR Hero” will not release his records as have every presidential candidate before him…what’s he afraid of if he truly is that hero?? Palin can “See Russia from land in Alaska.” I would rather have someone in the VP slot that says “I don’t know” rather one that would attempt to offer that as a qualification on foreign policy.
Ignorance can be forgiven but the desire to stay that way cannot.

Mary,
Trying to put Barack Hussein Obama in the White House is like trying to take a privileged boarding school kid who’s READ a lot but not DONE much into the most powerful office in the world–with the power to control the outcome of the economy, world peace and millions of families in his lap. Oh wait, that IS what you’re trying to do!!
Barack Hussein Obama is no more ready for the White House than the Easter Bunny is.
He’s never made an executive decision. He shows up but doesn’t vote (“Present” won’t work for presidents). And his judgment is so skewed–how else would you explain his view to allow living infants to suffer and die…so long as they are victims of failed abortions? Doesn’t the man have one caring bone in his body?
Plus, he’s not very good with words–what if his ‘lipstick on a pig’ gaff were made to a prominent foreign power who took it personally. Wow, he could really mess things up for America. He might even accidentally start a war.
His economic “plan”? During a recession, to dig the government’s hand deeper into the pockets of Americans. Not the brightest bulb in the box despite a formal education.

How in the WORLD do you spin that she is more qualified? If we simply start by comparing their educational experince, she is out of her league.

I tried to be Objective when I was watching this last night. When McCain talks I listen and his answers makes sense when Obama speaks I feel as though I don’t get real answers. Then he walks on stage like he is a rock star. McCain said Columbia shout reinstate the ROTC- No applause. Obama says it applause.
Then it dawned on me that Obama is a cult of personality:
Definition:
A cult of personality or personality cult arises when a country’s leader uses mass media to create a heroic public image through unquestioning flattery and praise. Cults of personality are often found in dictatorships but can be found in some democracies.
Generally, personality cults are most common in regimes with totalitarian systems of government, that seek to radically alter or transform society according to revolutionary new ideas. Often, a single leader becomes associated with this revolutionary transformation, and comes to be treated as a benevolent “guide” for the nation, without whom the transformation to a better future cannot occur. This has been generally the justification for personality cults that arose in totalitarian societies of the 20th century, such as those of Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler.

Go to McCain’s website under “issues” , then click “Economics” and you will see the rolling list of America’s best economists who support the McCain economic plan, including professors from Stanford, Harvard, Kent State, Bowling Green, Ohio State, University of Michigan and Johns Hopkins University. (There are lots more–I can’t begin to list them all here)
I think you’ll find the great minds of many institutions find the McCain plan to be most solid and promising of the two plans. Easily. So please don’t spread things that just aren’t true.
Second, Obama’s plan to mega-mega-mega tax the people who take the business risks and create jobs is just going to plunge our economy downward. It’s simple economics. The blue collar guy loses when the white collar guy’s business goes under.

Schmit and Rove campaign ads scare everyone because they are branding the Media as “Piranhas!”, Democrats are “Wolves” and talented Artists are just lite “Celebrities” without talent and their voice doesn’t count. Schmidt and Rove have branded Palin as their Barracuda and Pit Bull.
Now Schmit and Rove are attempting to play the victim when ever the Democrat’s response or the mainstream media asks the questions that are on the minds of the voters.
This will be the election that will be studied by historians. How did they do it? They took out everyone with negative ads and then created their own celebrity who is running on a open playing field now. Barracuda and Pit Bull running down field carrying the foot ball. This artist is looking for a quick response at his computer parked in a storage room. Can a goldfish stop them? I’m looking a video called Trained Goldfish Performs Amazing Tricks!! Now how this video Talking Dogs?
This election may decided by a gold fish and all talking dogs taking on Schmidt and Rove’s Barracuda and Pit Bull. I have faith in the gold fish she said “No worries Team. Everything is going to be all right!” Our Goldfish ran onto the field to take on Schmidt and Rove’s Barracuda carrying the football.

A woman will be raped in the near future and McCain/Palin might be in power. As a matter of fact 300,000 American women will be raped that same year. The rape will be brutal, vile, and disgusting. Nothing like the rape in President McCain’s joke where the victim after being repeatedly raped by a gorilla and left for dead regains consciousness and asks “where is that marvelous ape?”.
She might be someone you know – your sister, daughter, mother, wife.
Lets say she’s living paycheck to paycheck as 41% of Americans are. She is part of the middle class or “Nation of Whiners” as President McCain’s top economic adviser Phil Gramm puts it. The mental recession has hit her harder than it has the top 1%. Brave enough to go to the authorities and report the atrocity – she’s examined and a rape kit is used. Wasailla’s sheriff Charlie Fannon didn’t see why this cost should be a burden on the taxpayers and neither did Vice President Palin so she is charged $500-$1200 for the kit. Devastated from the attack she would like to take some time off to recuperate but she doesn’t know how she will pay for her mortgage, let alone the rape kit.
A few weeks go by and she fears she is pregnant by her tormenter. Like 47 million Americans she has no health insurance and is not comforted by the claims of President McCain’s healthcare advisor John Goodman that all Americans have health insurance – it’s called the emergency room. She goes to the hospital and is told she is pregnant – they will mail her the bill. She is not alone – that year 25,000 women will become pregnant by their rapist.
In McCain/Palin’s America there is no “choice” and she must bear the rapist’s offspring. She can barely support herself, let alone the rapist’s child. Programs that might have once helped her have all been devastated by the welfare and social program cuts from the McCain/Palin Presidency. Without anywhere to turn the thoughts of throwing herself down a flight of stairs and wire hangers flash through her mind.

Bob,
You’ve really shown a mean, sexist side here, but I’m going to assume you didn’t mean to and answer rationally.
Allowing preborn capital punishment for cases of rape punishes the innocent child more severely than the guilty rapist. An “innocent bystander” (at the time of assault not yet conceived!) is given a greater sentence than the perpetrator of the crime.
Allowing abortion for cases of rape or incest effectively blames the preborn for another’s (i.e. the father) crime. Killing a preborn because his or her father is a rapist is no more justifiable than killing the rapist’s mother or father (perhaps even less so, in that, plausibly, a parent could have in some way influenced, caused or contributed to the son’s actions. The preborn child has not yet been created; no causal influence, and therefore culpability, is possible). The perpetrator alone should be punished; punishing the preborn makes him or her a scapegoat and the second victim.
The circumstances of a preborn child’s conception should not modify, let alone negate, his or her right to life. In other words, the preborn baby has a right to life regardless of the circumstances under which he or she was conceived.
If we were to consider two infants, one conceived through marital intercourse, the other through forcible rape, would we say that one person was “more human” than the other?
Two wrongs do not make a right. A second wrong makes a bad situation worse. Further, ABORTION HURTS THE WOMAN. If it did not why then are there so many women who stand up and say they were hurt and taken advantage of by abortion??? why is there “Silent No More”? Why do medical statistics show increased chances of abortion and suicide among post-abortive women.
HOW DARE YOU suggest we allow a woman to be HURT TWICE–once, by the violent act of rape, and once again by abortion?
Abortion is a ‘quick fix’ for an irresponsible man, who leaves a woman betrayed, hurting, and a child DEAD.
Despite your hypothetical scenario, the “hard cases” represent perhaps only 1 percent of all abortions.
Tell me, (and I honestly want to know the answer): How can Obama support leaving infants born alive (often in late stages of pregnancy–living, breathing, gasping for breath) to die???
Jill Stanek sat, at Christ Hospital in Illinios, with an aborted baby who struggled for life IN A BROOM CLOSET to offer the only love the child would ever know in the form of cradling the child and humming to him as he died because she was helpless to help him.
Why does Obama support THAT?
Posted by: Mrs. T. in the Midwest | September 12, 2008, 10:56 am 10:56 am
Obama like Biden, is NOT pro abortion. They are pro “A woman’s right to choose.”
Biden said it best and I paraphrase:
“I, from a religious standpoint, believe that life begins at conception. But, I cannot consciously force my religious belief on a another who may be just as religiously committed and pious as I that that might believe otherwise. This is a personal, not a legal choice. We need to work to reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies (and therefore the resulting abortions) and provide the services and support for those that want to keep their children.”

I for one though Sarah Palin DID NOT DO A GREAT JOB. It bothers me that someone might vote for her. Let’s talk about the did not knows.
She did not know about the Bush Doctrine, my 12 year old knew that one.
She stated that Russia went into Georgia unprovoked. That’s not true. Republicans need to stop all the boastful talking on the air about our foreign counterparts. There is a saying that goes like this “your mouth is going to write a check that your butt may have to cash.” We will be in a nuclear war and where will Sarah and John McCain be???? Let me answer that for you. They will be protected.
She stated that whatever Isreal did was okay with her. She did not have a problem with it. I am not ready to give Isreal a blank check to do whatever.
The important points to know is Sarah Palin is starting to show us (Americans) who she really is, the problem is will we believe her. I believe that she is not qualified to be a heart beat from John McCain. I can not risk the safety of my 4 children to this woman. BARACK OBAMA NEEDS TO GET TOUGHER, HE NEEDS TO FIGHT LIKE HE NEVER HAS FOUGHT BEFORE. You can not take a knife to a gunfight.

Did anyone else catch Palin’s response regarding a nuclear Iran that suggested the problem with a nuclear Iran was someone giving Iran WMD, not the fact that they are trying to BUILD their own??
“GIBSON: So what do you do about a nuclear Iran?
PALIN: We have got to make sure that these weapons of mass destruction, that nuclear weapons are not given to those hands of Ahmadinejad, not that he would use them, but that he would allow terrorists to be able to use them. So we have got to put the pressure on Iran and we have got to count on our allies to help us, diplomatic pressure.”
My understanding of this comment (along with many other comments in this one interview), leads me to believe that she doesn’t not even grasp the basic facts about some of the most critical foreign policy issues/threats facing our nation. I for one am very scared that she is on the ticket.
I have a husband in the Army, and I want all elected officials in the White House to know the nuances of policy BEFORE they are on the ticket. These are scary times, and she has no idea about so many national level issues.

Either way we will have three to four wars going on, with the reemergence of a standoff with Russia. A failing service based economy that is incapable of growth because we don’t produce or manufacture ANYTHING!!! Higher inflation to subsidize the bailouts of Wall St. while we get downsized or fired to prop up the corporate balance sheets. I mean what the hell will Obama or McCain do to stop any of this. These same people are funding and advising their campaigns. You think they are gonna stand up to their own advisers and bankrollers on YOUR behalf. Get real! Denail is one thing but opting for a self inflicted mental labotomy is another. Have the courage to think for yourself, read between the lines and see that you have NO power through the aims of these men. Ok, Bob. Semantics. A woman’s right to “CHOOSE” …..whether to kill her child.
So, basically, I may oppose killing unwanted 3 year olds. I wouldn’t do it myself, but I shouldn’t stand in the way of another who wants to kill THEIR 3 year old. ??? No logic at all with your thought process, Bob.
Don’t tell me that ‘terminating’ a 3 year old is any different that ‘terminating’ a preborn child. It’s the same person at 6 months of pregnancy as 3 years of age, as 38 years of age. We call this same human being different names, depending on the stage of development–fetus, infant, toddler, preschooler, preadolescent, teen, etc…. They are one and the same person in different stages of development.
Pro-Choice/Pro-Abortion= no difference at all. All you’re saying with “Pro-choice” is that you support another if they decide to ‘terminate’ their own kid. Actually, pro-choice is worse because you basically wash your hands of any responsibility. How about offering a hand to the mom who needs prenatal care? How about supporting her and helping her find a loving adoptive family? How about giving her REAL choices that won’t lead to her depression and grieving. ???
Abortion isn’t a religious issue to be forced or not upon another. Scientific fact shows that human life begins at conception (duh–what else would it be? it’s not a plant, it’s not an animal–the DNA is HUMAN) In America we protect life.
Is having a law against killing your 75 year old neighbor ‘imposing your religious views on another’? Of course not. It’s stupid to suggest it. And it’s equally stupid to suggest that disallowing human ‘termination’ at any stage and in any way is a religious issue not to be dealt with.
Can’t believe you’d even suggest otherwise.

McCain effectively manipulated and cowed the Press, deflected the campaign to Palin, while at the same time refusing to answer questions. Now we have three days of interviews of a person who IS NOT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT, while once again he doesn’t have to answer for anything.
Palin doesn’t even have to give a passing performance, the bar is so low all she has to do is show up.
I have to agree with the Republicans it is not about issues. It hasn’t been for years, look at the record.
It is an always has been about perception. The Democrats have said they knew what was coming, yet did nothing about it.
Please spare me the abortion issue, and woman rights, Abortion does not win the presidency, never has never will. Woman rights? Did it help the Democrats this year? 4 years ago? 8 years ago? 12, 16, 20 years ago? In fact when did it help?

Carrie…
Sarah Palin lives the Christian life? Do you smoke crack? What is the Christian life as you know it? Being pregnant when you get married… having your daughter pregnant when she is “getting married”…nice.
As far as I know being a Christian requires some obeyance of the ten commandments. Most importantly, in this country, we have this little thing called separation of church and state. One’s religious affiliation is not suppose to have any bearing on one’s politics. Freedom of religion… I know, I know, craziness!

So in other words, Palin considers herself ready simply because she can exude confidence?

What I find the most frightening about those that support McCain/Palin is that chances are not a single one of them has benefitted over the last 8 years, from Bush politics, and none of them will benefit from a McCain administration either. I don’t know a single person that is better off today, financially, emotionally, or physically than they were 8 years ago. Our country is more hated today than ever, our President is such an embarrassment that even his own party didn’t want him at their convention. Oh, and his VP wasn’t welcome either. BTW spare me the “George was standing ready for the hurricane” crap. We all know how well George deals with emergency (Katrina, 9-11, etc.)LOL

But I’d be a republican if I didn’t go on the record to say that New Oleans itselff was woefully unprepared. To live on the Gulf of Mexico, below sea level and only have protection for a CAT 3 hurricane is insanity personified. I wouldn’t feel safe until I had protection from a CAT 6!

What is so amazing about these right-wing idiots is that are so insecure that they would actually rather be REPRESENTED in the White House by white trash who remind them of themselves. They don’t even have the awareness of their own shortcomings to say, “I know that I am horribly provincial and stupid and simple, and it is my responsibility to vote for someone who is qualified to deal with complicated issues, foreign-policy-related and otherwise, which are entirely out of depth.” They DO cling to religion and their guns and their “disbelief” (???) in science, in all cases out of a desperate insecurity and a stubborn unwillingness to see how the world really is. These people are SCARY. They have the power to vote and thus the power to run this country and then the world into oblivion. I truly believe they who cannot see things clearly, those who are blinded by the meager intelligence and the fear of reality that comes with that, should NOT BE ALLOWED TO VOTE. They should all be put in Alaska and kept there, given helicopters and rifles and let loose to do what they do best.

Jim?
I have said the same thing about Detroit. Let’s put a 15ft fence around it, drop guns from helicopters, and when it’s all over, we will come in and clean the mess up. It’s too bad that stupid people don’t understand reparations… I am with you, let’s give them their own little piece of the world and let the rest of peace loving, thought provoking, responsible folks live in a world free of the unintelligible. Sadly, everyone in this country gets a vote (not that popular vote matters ie GW) but eouldn’t it be nice if people had to actually READ, study even, and then take a test to make certain that they had a firm grasp on what the issues were BEFORE they were handed a ballot?
Posted by: Tantra | September 12, 2008, 12:45 pm 12:45 pm
Slow down Jim,
The GOP is multi-layered. Those at the top are smart, internationally aware, rich and manipulative. The ones in the middle tend to aspire to the top or are often religiously motivated. Nearer to the bottom are the peons that insure those at the top stay there, frightened and ignorant, often by choice.

Tjuania in Desoto, Texas. I stand corrected, thank you for your reply. And yes, I made the erronious assumption that you could possibly be an illegal. That being said you appear to be an educated women, that is some what obvious by the way you write and express your self. Now if you would indulge me for a moment I would like to ask you, besides being a confidant, black American woman, are you also a proud one? Proud that you are black, or proud that you are an American or both? You see I am a racist, not based on color mind you, but on culture. I totally believe that you and Tantra will vote for Obama simply because he is black. The polls show that 98% 0f blacks will vote for him based on skin color alone, are you in that catagorie? If you are then you have no basis what so ever to critisize anyone on your blogs. Tantra rants on strictly by emotion and not facts. I am a Palin supporter but I swear I have allways hoped that Condalezza Rice would be on the ticket. I base my reasoning on facts and not hype. do you see what I mean about the cultural thing? You don’t have to respond but you might think a little about where I’m coming from. :)

It dosen’t matter how she did or what she said, it boils down to who you will vote for come November. I’m a Democrat and will vote Democrat. Discussing Sarah Palin will make no difference at all. Because when I go into the booth to vote, I will pull the lever for Obama. I’m sick and tired of the direction this country has gone. The Republicans has done a good job in keeping this conversation going. If you’re mind is already made up, vote the way you have decided. There are a very few people that still remain undecided and those are the people that will make the difference.

So when will Gibson ask Obama what kind of decisions he has made that qualify Obama to be President of the US?
Posted by: DBO | September 12, 2008, 1:37 pm 1:37 pm
CHARLIE HUBRIS GIBSON
Charlie Hubris Gibson used a partial quote to purposely take it out of context. Then he said it was an exact quote. Can we call him PantsOnFire now?
GIBSON: You said recently, in your old church, “Our national leaders are sending U.S.
soldiers on a task that is from God.” Are we fighting a holy war?
this is exactly what she said….
” Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this
country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task
that is from God,” she exhorted the congregants. “That’s what we have to make sure that
we’re praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God’s plan.”
As a Hillary supporter, this media chauvinism toward Palin justifies my vote for McCain.
Charlie Hubris is sexist, disgusting and an elitist….the way he looked down at her over his glasses was offensive to me as a woman. His droning, monotone voice was, too.

Um Bombem…I am not black. For the record… I voted for McCain in the primary. Your assumptions are just… amazing. I actually liked John McCain before he sold his soul to the Republican party, you know when he had an opinion of his own, even when it was contrary to the Party’s. The fact that you are so easily intimidated by intelligent conversation, and obviously threatened by people that don’t look just like you, or think (or don’t think at all) just like you is laughable, albeit pathetic. You Bombem (great name by the way, it reflects your ability for deep thought), are precisely who the Republicans count on. Facts? Bush/Cheney were not welcomed at the convention, fact (first time in 40 years). Sarah Palin was preggers when she said “I do”, fact. Sarah Palins “abstinence” before marriage schtick was hypocritical at best. Sarah Palin’s daughter obviously didn’t buy her mom’s message, fact. Sarah Palin had her interviewer hand-picked for her, and had a team that attempted to prepare her and she still “bombed”, fact. It’s Friday, don’t you need to be getting down to the bar to throw back a few Bud’s and a couple of Jagerbombs? Or is it your night for the moron militia meeting?

To Bombem,
To your question. Yes, I am very proud to be Black and an American. And “No”, I am not voting for Barack because he is “black”. If you remember, Barack has black and white blood running in his veins. Are you voting for Palin/McCain because they are white?
I am voting for Barack because, I have had enough of the George Bush tactics. Can you add Bombem? Has 9/11 ever equaled invading Iraq…The answer is no. You see, I seriously THOUGHT about voting for McCain, but after doing alot of research on the man and his party, i just can not vote for him. These are the reasons why….(You know black folks can do research also)
(1) The Keating 5
(2) His wife stole from her charity for to support her drug habit.
(3) He has made insensitive jokes about women being raped and enjoying it. He is a hipocrit by talking about Barack, when he has called his wife a C–t. Called Chelsea Clinton ugly and some other crazy things in the past about women he has said.
(4) He picked a person for his ticket that in my opinion is a “gimmick.”
(5) He does not believe that a woman has the right to choose, even the case of abortion and rape.
(6) He is at war with himself, every thing that comes out of his mouth is about war. (Aren’t you tired of that?)
(7) He has people around his campaign that haved ruined his reputation in 2004, but in order to win he inlisted their bad politics for his campaign.
(8) His age. Do you remember the last days of Ronald Reagan??? He showed signs of Alzheimer Disease. Aids were hiding him from the press.
You see bombem, I really am amused that you are racist. And I realize that what I said may not be absorded in your mind, and that’s fine. I VOTE FOR THE FUTURE OF MY CHILDREN AND MY HOME.
ps….not bad for a black person, huh.

Shame on you Charlie Gibson! That was a trial, not an interview. For such an experienced newsman you certainly were unable to conduct an impartial interview. As stated in a previous blog…do you really think the average American is unable to see which party you support in this election? I have a very hard time believing you would have treated a male Governor in the same manner. Watch your tape playbacks and see how often you started your next question before you let Gov. Palin finish the answer to her question. It is such a shame that ABC News has such a sexist newsman appearing on TV covering such an important person in our history.

We all know that ABC as well as George are Obama supporter’s. Obama only knows what people from Clinton’s admistration is teaching him about foreign policy. There is more to running this country than foreign policy. There are issues surrounding this country that need to be taken care of. If McCain is elected, Palin will learn one day to another about foreign policy.

Isn’t interesting that I am the elitest, and yet somehow good ol’ bombem feels compelled to tell us how much his home is worth? I guess we were to be impressed with the “I enjoy a very rare imported French Merlot”. Let me help you dear bombem… If it is French, and you drink it here in the USA, that would make it imported (as in that is the definition of imported). Let’s say you are referring to Chateau Petrus… FYI, it’s mostly a merlot, but I am sure you knew that :) Something tells me that you don’t drink it because you enjoy it, but rather because you think someone will be impressed when you tell them how impressive you are by drinking it. Perhaps you should actually spend some of your time learning about wine instead of spewing your self proclaimed racism on a silly message board. Oh…btw, you must live somewhere REALLY nice. A million doesn’t buy much in a civilized world. Does John McCain have one of his homes in your neighborhood? Oh wait… no, he couldn’t. People with less than 5 Million aren’t in his class. Guess that leaves you out huh? You are like a ghetto boy to dear John.

And before we critize women that are pregnant before marriage, remember and read about the young girls that threw their babies in the garbage, in the field, left them on a doorstep in the wintertime or murdered them. I believe in children after marriage but I support those that keep their babies and raise them well even out of wedlock. I do not believe in abortion. That is strictly out. Palin believes in pro-life whether your married or out of wedlock. Outside of that, I find there is a lot of jealousy about Palin because she is a woman on the ticket and Hillary did not get chosen. Well, Hillary and Bill are fools for campaigning for Obama after what he did to Hillary.

My choice is John McCain because I do not like his background of drugs and his attending a racist church, anti-american and white hating in his younger days. His drinking is not a problem because most of us like beer. Besides that, he is not black because he is half white. One thing I can say about Obama is that he has good morals, a family man and I believe he would never cheat on his wife because he loves her too much.

If these same people looked as hard at their Presidential Candidate Barack Hussein Obama they would find a person who limits his personal information, hides parts of his college information, is not forthcoming about his “change” yet the American middle class are to vote this less than worthy candidate as President. I DON’T THINK SO! Governor Palin may not have a lot of experience, but she is far more experienced than Barack Hussein (isn’t that a Muslum name?) Obama.

Accepting for the purposes of discussion that Sarah Palin does not have all the experience needed to be President without a considerable period as understudy.
So, let’s play that both ways.
Executive experience: Palin 8 years, Obama 0
Statewide officeholder: Palin 2, Obama <1 (actually 6 months until he took off to run for President and never seen again]
Foreign policy experience: Palin 0, Obama 0
Chaired hearings of important US Senate sub-Committee with oversight of war on terror: Palin 0, Obama 0 (even though he has been the chair almost 3 years now, never did the one thing he WAS asked to do to work on the war on terror)
Stood behind, led and got into place important initiatives: Palin, several, Obama, 0 [go ahead, name one].
You know where they stand: Palin 1, Obama, 0
Inevitable conclusion: however littel experience you think Palin has, Obama has even less.
So, Palin isn't qualified to be President if McCain's health should fail at some day X in the future, but Obama is qualified to be President on day 1?
How do you get there from here?
I'd really like to understand this.
EXTRA POINTS:
Membership in church believing in peace and love: Palin 1, Obama 0
Membership in church preaching hatred of USA: Palin 0, Obama 1
Close friends who are convicted terrorists: Palin 0, Obama 1+
Documented US citizen: Palin 1, Obama 0
Obama's only recorded decision on anything – VP Biden who says himself that he wasn't a very good choice.
Days struggling to get through life's little challenges without having it all handed to you: Palin – hundreds, Obama the voice of the oppressed – 0

OK dem. let’s get back to putting Obama and McCain in the paper. You are wasting good time to try to prove Obama is better then number one, McCain instead of the VP. Your candidate is getting lost in the mix. I suppose it is easier to compare Obama’s experience to Mrs. Palin then to the experienced McCain with foreign policy and his vow to cut millions of ear marks.
Mr. McCain will have a staff and cabinet that will have the information for Mrs. Palin to make a educated decision on what ever developes. Obama would not know who to put in his cabinet because he is so wet behind the EARS.
Back to McCain vs Obama. And let Mike Wallace get an interview with Obama.

Charlie Gibson is a closet case, probably gets the shivers up his leg for Obama too. What a disgrace he is and lost all cred as journalist. There is no room for bias in reporting but 2008 is the year journalism offically died in this country. Everyone looking the other way with Obama questonmarks. Wright, Trinity, Ayers, Rezko, Pfleger….WHO ARE HIS CHARACTER WITNESSES BESIDES HIS INDONESIAN HALF SISTER WHO LIVED WITH HIM FOR 2 MINUTES, AND HIS WIFE? Seriously, McCain’s life story bio on CNN was an hour and a half and he could have filled hours…BO’s needed filler. He is a questionable empty slate…ego first, not COUNTRY FIRST McCAIN!

PALIN ACED IT WITH THE PUD GIBSON. She will be able to go toe to toe with Biden….I’d rather have a Washington outsider for VP than a criminally connected Chicagoian for Pres. She will be a sponge at McCain’s hip for four years….I don’t want Biden leading Bozo around by the nose….he is very good at being a sock puppet tho. McCAIN/BIDEN ALL THE WAY!!

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, in a new installment of her interview with ABC News’s Charlie Gibson, backed earmarks and her right, both as a governor and a mayor, to request and secure them — just don’t call them earmarks. Call it “infrastructure.”
Apologies – This is what I wanted to share

They aren’t “earmarks”. If they are for ME they are “Infrastructure”.
I see the wheels coming off….

Thanks Charlie, I thought you did a good job. I do not think you were hard on her, patronizing or condescending in any way. People who say that must not have even taken journalism 101. I thought you were actually a bit TOO easy her on her. She needs to be probed more on her understanding of the complex and serious serious issues affecting our nation. As Americans, we have a right to know her level of knowledge, and her beliefs.
Personally I think she is more of a politician and schmoozer than a great “voice” of our times She lied and fudged many answers so that she did not appear as far to the right as she is. We are at a very serious point in history and we need intelligent, bright people to lead us. People who see the WHOLE PICTURE and do not lead us to more war, and worse economics.
McCain and Palin have NO new ideas, their ideas and plans are identical to Bush’s. Both of them also put politics above people. We have had 8 years of that. Aren’t many of you sick of that? bet all the defenders on here (who are SO BIASED) voted in BUsh too. And look what you got. Now you are going to make the same mistake again. God help us all, hopefully there are enough people of good judgment out there who will elect Obama/Biden.
She frightens many in the Democratic party. Yep she does. I know some of you get off on that, but the truth is she frightens us because she is terribly unprepared and more in the dark ages than even Bush or McCain. It is frightening-the idea of her running this country? What if we were at war and McCain was ill. Come on people, THINK THINK THINK. Vote on the real facts, not because you think someone s a redneck just like you.
Good job Charlie, A bit more probing next time on troopergate. Why is she interfering so much ? More about health care-I bet she has some great plan to fix our disaster brewing. !! I DOUBT IT. McCain does not have a plan. And for those of you who do not think Obama has answered tough questions or has a plan, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is hard to respond to you because you are so out of it. He has been interrogated MANY times, put up with press vetting and has EXTENSIVE well thought out plans on his website! Plans for the disabled, plans for education, plans for veterans. He has thought of everything. OPEN YOUR EYES just once and don’t dismiss someone because you aren’t like them. Things are BAD NOW. You owe your country to at least try to be more open minded.

For the person telling this story:
I went to the store and this woman asked me this question….seriously, I laughed my ass off…
Who is on the 1 dollar bill…………washington
Who is on the 5 dollar bill…………Lincoln
What would obama be on?……….A food stamp
I though it was hysterical.
You really thought this was hysterical?? Why is it funny, maybe you could explain. Because to most people it is racist and not very funny. Wasn’t Christ about helping people less fortunate? I sure don’t see much of that among the conservatives. They seem to care much more about themselves and I see a lot of lies and horrible things said about Obama here that are racist. Some of the Dems say things about Palin but they are not so disrespectful. Madame you are not very worldy or intelligent if you think that s funny and your values are not like the ones at my Christian church. We do not make fun of people especially the poor or those of other color who are poor. Shame on you for passing that along when Americans are struggling to pay their bills and put food on their tables. Shame on you.

What is an “Obamabots” and why do so many conservatives call people names and say such mean things to people. Are these people Christian? The Republicans on here are not acting in a manor that Jesus would be proud of. You should respect differences and stop being so outright nasty to those who may not agree with you.
You should really ask for forgiveness ths Sunday for your behavior on these boards. All have a right for their views, stop making embarrassing fools of yourself, you also do McCain and Palin a great disservice. It looks bad when you have to defend her so much, and when you do so in a way that is disrespectful to Senators Obama and Bden.

BETTY- You wrote INCORRECTLY that “Obama’s economic plan is to mega-mega-mega tax the people who take the business risks and create jobs is just going to plunge our economy downward. It’s simple economics. The blue collar guy loses when the white collar guy’s business goes under.”
Betty, I do not want to be insulting, but what you are saying is simply not true. You are listening to lies not researching the facts. Clearly you are NOT familiar with Obama’s plan. Top economists have clearly stated that Obama’s plan is better both for our country’s economy and for the middle class. He does not raise taxes for 85% of Americans. For people making over 250,000 their taxes go back to the level they were during the Clinton years. Gee people were doing well then! Everyone who makes less than that gets a tax break. There is a calculator on his website. Know your facts.
Regarding McCain’s plan, it is the exact same plan and ideas that Bush has been doing for 8 years. There is really no difference. Are you happy with the way things have been going? Betty I don’t think you are truly educated on the economics of both plans.
For seniors, for middle income people, for working families, for those with incomes less than 250,000 (90% of people), you will get A TAX CUT on Obamas plan. Also small businesses will get tax breaks rather than HUGE corporations like the oil companies. Also for going to college, Obama has a wonderful plan of the government paying for your education in exchange for the student doing community service.
Please educate yourselves and don’t be so biased. For the “average” person, for parents with kids, for seniors on social security, for those with chronic illnesses, or blue collar jobs, you will do MUCH better with Obama’s plans. He also has a plan to provide health insurance to all that don’t have it.
How do we pay for all this? That is the first question. Get out of the war for goodness sake. I don’t think most of you realize how much money we are spending there. More than enough to pay for this. Not enough? What about taxing the oil companies millions of profit each year? Do you think an executive of an oil company or a health plan ceo need to make MILLIONS in salary each year? Can’t an oil company with billions in profits afford to pay a few more taxes? Or a two high income working parents who make 500,000 or so? Can’t they pay a bit more to for the good of all? Isn’t that what Jesus preached? Helping those less fortunate? Then why are you against it.
With McCain’s plan, you do benefit if you are rich (income over 250,000 a year) or if you are a big corporation. Otherwise there is no help for you tax wise or education wise and certainly there is no proposed help for health care. Do you think getting a 5000 year break for health care helps you if you have a pre-existing condition. NO it doesn’t. McCain makes his stupid statement that people don’t want a beauracate in the middle of the patient and doctor!! IF you are in a health plan, you already have this!! Health care should not be a money making business. Have you ever been sick?? If you do get sick, in a McCain Palin world you will go bankrupt just like the millions that are losing their houses now due to medical bills. Imagine undergoing chemo and then losing your house at the same time. It happened to me. My wonderful health plan paid 80% and I do not have the energy to fight them.

Maverick=worst car Ford ever put on the USA highways. It would burst into flames when struck from the rear, much the same as McCain/Palin will if they tangle with Putin and the Russian Bear.

I can not believe the people of this country are so stupid as to think that Sarah Palin is ready to be elevated to the 2nd highest office in the country. But again, they showed their stupidity in voting for GW Bush twice. We are in the worst mess since WW2 and all people can talk about is “hockey moms”, lipstick, pitbulls, etc. etc. When are the people going to wake up and smell the coffee? If McSame/Palin win this election, i will never pay another cent to the IRS because I will move to another country.

Charlie Gibson proved the biase with the mainstream media. What an idiot….Charlie you are a pathetic human form……gotcha interviews are’t going to work with Palin. Too bad she chose a hack like you to do her first interview with. A stark comparison to the Obama interview when Stehanapoulis helped him with answers. You are so transparent which is why you and your network have lost so many viewers and marketshare. You have proven that you can’t be trusted anymore than the slanted news readers at NBC

David Frumm
From the National Review
(A CONSERVATIVE publication for those here who don’t read)
A president does not need to know everything. In fact, it’s certainly impossible for him (or her) to know everything that he might possibly need to know. That’s what the White House staff – and beyond them the whole vast apparatus of the US government – is for. Collectively, the US government knows a lot. And all of that knowledge is at the service and disposal of the president. All the president has to do is – is ask.
But that’s not as easy as it sounds.
Somebody who knew President Bush well once remarked to me. “You’ll notice he never asks questions.”
“Why not?” I said.
“Because he doesn’t know what it’s okay for him not to know.”

It offends me as a 65 year old woman that Charlie Gibson put on a “game face” with Palin and pressed her in an embarrassing way to answer a question about the Bush doctrine that is unfamiliar to most politicians. Did anyone know the answer?
What gives Charlie??? You smile and are gentile with other candidates and get stern and harsh with Palin. It’s obvious you don’t like her or that you were told to grill her with no quarter. Give me a break!

I’m glad someone else noticed the nuke-u-lar language of Sarah Palin – who else talks like that – YES! The elephant in the room – GEORGE W. BUSH. No more presidents or vice presidents who can’t pronounce NUCLEAR.

Yeah, LIVELONG 65, a LOT of people knew the answer… that’s why it was shocking – SHOCKING! – to me and obviously to Charlie Gibson (I’m no fan of his but I’m glad he wasn’t afraid to push her, for pete’s sake she’s a national contender, not a 7 year old Girl Scout)!

I guess the annointed one, Barakus Obamus will not be proud of his country either after this election, because he’s going to lose. What I want to see and hear from Mr. Obama is to start talking about his accomplishments along with his promises of change and hope, so his words will have more substance. It’s disgusting to watch these Liberal Democrats attacking a real American Hero, who has done more for his country in 5 years than Mr. Obama has done his entire life, and a woman who has 2x more experience than the democratic presidential candidate. For those people who says the’re afraid of Palin if she has to step in to be the president, just admit that you’re a sexist and do not feel comfortable having a woman becoming the president. The truth is she will be more qualified to be the president than your presidential candidate. Lastly, Gov. Palin has enough integrity to answer the question that the pompous Gibson posted about Roe v. Wade and did not feel that it was above her paygrade.
