The Remaining Game Changers

Opinion by Matthew Dowd, ABC News Political Contributor

So, now, with only a few days until the first presidential debate, which is likely to garner record viewership, it seems a good time to take stock of the patterns that have developed and the possible game changers that could still emerge in these final weeks of the election.

As expected, the Palin pop subsided and Obama has retaken a small lead in the race.  It seems the equilibrium in this race is Obama leading McCain by a small but formidable few percentage points.  Events happen, and then this lead returns.  This lead is mainly driven by the generic party advantages the Democrats have this year because of an unpopular administration and voters’ hunger for real change in Washington.

What can change this Obama built-in lead advantage?

First, the events of last week related to the financial meltdown of established institutions could cause this lead to grow, or at least solidify for Obama.  Why?

If this race becomes solely about the economy, then Democrats have a huge advantage.  They lead Republicans solidly in polling on this issue and that hasn’t changed much in last few months.  McCain’s answers about the economy being "fundamentally sound" certainly haven’t helped him when voters are asked to judge if he appreciates what’s going on in their lives.

In addition, in most voters’ minds, last week’s crisis was deserving of collective action by the country and serious government involvement.  In recent U.S. political history, when the country is in a collective action mood, Democrats have almost always gained the advantage.  When the country is more focused on individual action or responsibility, Republicans usually gain.  This desire for government involvement will help the Democrats because voters’ assumptions will be that Democrats are more likely to be good at that.

Yet, the debate on Friday and the other remaining debates could reset the equilibrium of the race and bring McCain to parity or possibly with a lead.  But debates could also provide an opportunity for Obama to break the race open and widen his sliver of a lead.

Either outcome depends entirely on each candidate’s ability to connect and perform at the debates.  The question will be who will be first to really set the tone?  If one significantly falters, then the gameclock on this cycle could be significantly reset.  McCain needs a win to overcome Obama’s built in advantage in this race.

I look forward to watching.

I feel McCain will completely annihialate Obama in the debates. It’s very apparent that Obama cannot speak without a teleprompter or a speech written by Axelrod. On the other hand, McCain is a master in debates and will completely dominate.

So basically the above article is rehashing the obvious. How about a REAL story to report. VOTER FRAUD and disregard of federal voting laws in several “swing states”, (Wisconsin, Michigan, etc.), and the Democrats blocking those trying to clean up election fraud.

“NO MORE BAILOUTS”
by David Neal
09-21-08
On the 10th of June 2008, the Bank of International Settlements announced the largest gain in derivatives outstanding since they started to report on this. The notional value of all outstanding derivatives now totals approximately $1.144 QUADRILLION. That is 1144 TRILLION DOLLARS.
At the exchange rate this week (Wednesday), 35 trillion British Pounds was equivalent to U.S. $62 trillion. According to the International Swaps and Derivatives Association , $62 trillion is the notional value of credit default swaps (CDS) out there, somewhere, in the market. Credit default swaps are not standardized instruments. In fact, they technically aren’t true securities in the classic sense of the word in that they’re not transparent, aren’t traded on any exchange, aren’t subject to present securities laws, and aren’t regulated. They are, however, at risk – all $62 trillion of them.
These are TRILLIONS of Dollars not BILLIONS
Frustrated by the US government’s rescue of AIG, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, a group of 100 conservative congressmen today urged the Bush administration to stop keeping Wall Street afloat.
The RSC members, all serving in the House of Representatives, noted with alarm that the government action this week “has the appearance of a socialist and not a free market approach to managing our economy”.
Rescuing failing financial firms has “set a dangerous and unmistakable precedent for the federal government both to be looked to and relied upon to save private sector companies from the consequences of their poor economic decisions,” the RSC members wrote.
All while this was going on the Major Media could only talk of the “New Messiah”. Not one ounce of investigative journalism on the subject of who is liable for all this debt. Not one article, not a single word telling of the vast financial imbalances of leveraged monies, YOU our elected officials and the Big Banks have created.
Just 9 days ago Henry Paulson (i.e.. former CEO of one of The Banks Too Big to Fail, Goldman Sachs) told us “all is well”. He has no idea what to do or what will come of this or he is a liar.
The very same people that put us into this mess are the very same people advising the President and Congress on how to fix the problems they have created. This is insanity! The bailouts now being proposed are not bailing out American Workers but are bailing out the rest of the World on the backs of the AMERICAN TAXPAYER as if we don’t have a huge enough burden already.
The numbers posed by the Bank of International Settlements are staggering. Billion Dollar infusions will do nothing to stop the inevitable. A few weeks ago the billions and billions in infusions of American greenbacks probably helped delay, but did not repair the devastation. Today these same Billions of Dollars in bailouts are absorbed like a thirsty Whale.
I can tell Congress one thing is for sure, that a movement has started and I and many many more like me are going to stop paying our taxes if this insanity of bailouts is not stopped, now! And we will vote every congressperson out of office if they vote for anymore bailouts, period!!!
We are in historically unprecedented times. The foundation is being laid for a default of USTreasurys in the wake of the greatest regulatory failure in modern history (i.e.. the repeal of Glass-Steagall), and the collapse of the US financial system. If you look back, Paul Volker predicted this would happen if the newly appointed Alan Greenspan implemented his ideas to make more money for the banks.
When this happens the World will turn their backs on us and things will get nasty real quick. All we will be left with is the American citizens, to pick up the pieces and start over.
Congress needs to remember who butters it’s bread and start standing up for American Citizens like you were put there to do. We are not worried about a “global financial meltdown”, we are worried about being taxed to death and putting groceries on the table. We could care less about what happens to Wall Street. You also need to understand, we can and will – take back our country from the criminals in charge now.
Here is a link to find your Congress Persons and email them your anger on these socialist bailouts that will do nothing to help the massive financial imbalances we face. They will only line the pockets of the architects of this mess and make our Tax burden unbearable.
STOP THE INSANITY NOW!!!

THE VILLAGES — Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin told wildly cheering, flag-waving, chanting supporters that John McCain is “the only great man in this race” and promised Sunday he will fix the nation’s economy if voters give the GOP four more years in the White House.
“He won’t say this, so I’ll say it for him,” the Alaska governor said in an almost confidential tone at the close of her first Florida stump speech. “There is only one man in this election who has ever really fought for you. John McCain wore the uniform of his country for 22 years — talk about tough.”
The Villages, a vast, upscale planned community north of Orlando, has about 70,000 mostly adult residents — many of them military retirees — who vote reliably Republican in statewide races. Tens of thousands inched along roads into the picturesque town square of the complex, where they stood in sweltering heat for about four hours as local GOP officials and a country band revved up the crowd.
“Sa-Rah! Sa-Rah!” they chanted at every mention of her name, applauding loudly and waiving tiny American flags that were distributed — along with free water bottles — by local volunteers. The fire chief estimated the crowd at 60,000.

McCain is too out-dated with his thinking. He is an American hero, no doubt, but that does not qualify him to lead us on issues like economics, which his knowledge and his record clearly show he is not up to the task.
Palin is plan and simple, an insult to the American people as to preparedness, intelligence on foreign policy and national issues and in no way the right person to be put in a leadership position for this country. The hypocrisy of not believing in sex education because it’s up to the family in view of her 17 year old daughter’s pregnancy is just staggering. And that’s one of the things we happen to know about.
Obama is a very smart man. His heritage shows diversity and struggle, just like what America represents. He inspires people, he believes in debate and dissenting views and in navigating amongst the best and the brightest. He understands complex issues and has a genuine sense of self-sacrifice.
Biden is an excellent pick for VP. He balances the ticket with additional knowledge of how the beltway works…which is honestly what you need in order to truly know how to change it.
The Democratic party is the only chance we have to move forward and try to right this country. And I honestly feel embarrassed for Republicans with the ticket they have…a has been Maverick who has so twisted himself into something unrecognizable due to the Republican machine and his unqualified Miss Congeniality VP who runs a state roughly the size of the Austin metro area and obviously repeats statements being drummed into her by consultants with every syllable she utters. McCain/Palin would be a tragedy for this country.
VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN 08!

John McCain is an avid reader and is known for rereading many works of his favorite authors. The favorite author of John McCain is Herman Wouk who has written The Winds of War, War and Remembrance, and the Caine Mutiny. Wouk served as an executive Naval officer aboard a minesweeper during War War II and used that experience in forming the character of Captain Queeg in the Caine Mutiny. Victor Henry the main character in Winds of War and War and Remembrance was a naval officer who became a confidant both to FDR and Harry Truman. FDR and Harry Truman went outside the normal channels of military command and relied on Victor Henry for straight talk advice on how to approach Russia and Germany and Japan prior and during World War II. John McCain sees himself as the Victor Henry character who was a realist in foreign policy and understood the nuances of war and foreign policy better than anyone. John McCain is a realist and more knowledgeable about foreign policy than either Joe Biden or Barack Obama due to his experiences and also just growing up as the son and grandson of Navy admirals. It is totally inaccurate to argue that John McCain is somehow dogmatic in his approach and understanding of foreign affairs. Herman Wouk wove history into his novels. There is saying that those who do not know history are doomed to repeat history. John McCain knows history and has lived it and will use that knowledge to guide the United States through the tough challenges that we face in the war on terror and dealing with a resurgent Russia.

I would like to know why the media isn’t highlighting the fact that Sen. Obama ridiculed Sen. McCain because he didn’t use a computer – trying to make it seem that he is too old for new-fangled technology. Sen. McCain is entirely capable of dealing with new technology, except that typing on a pc is very difficult due to his injuries while fighting for his country. If McCain’s camp had created an ad as absolutely stupid and clueless about Obama, the media would have been howling for his head. I really hope that most people do understand that McCain has been called the most techno-savvy person in congress. This is one concrete example of the numerous lies from Sen Obama. I would like to see one solid example of a lie from Sen. McCain. It is easy to say that he lies, but no one will give an example. Let’s hear it.

For those who neglect history, there was another governor who was under 45. One who also loved the outdoors, hunted, and had a bunch of kids. One who was a Republican reformer, and not afraid to attack his own party. One who became VP after just two years as governor. Amazing similarity but Teddy Roosevelt went on to become one of our greatest presidents.

It all depends on who is moderating the debates. The media is in total control of what the people are allowed to hear and will try to steer the discussion in the favor of Obama. Look for tricks as done in the past with call-ins and for Obama to be allowed to have notes or a teleprompter. Look for Obama to field most questions after McCain has set the pace and for hard balls to be thrown to McCain and softballs to be thrown to Obama.

I now know for sure the media is favoring the democrats. This past Saturday Obama was in Jacksonville FL and had a large crowd of 30000, and according to a radio announcer 95% were black and they placed the whites behind the speaker podium so it would appear that there were a lot of whites there.
Yesterday Sarah Palin was at The Villages, close to Orlando and there were more than twice as many people there as at the Obama rally. Since both are overwith all we hear on the local TV stations is about Obama’s visit, but not much about Palin. Well I think the people in this country are getting wise and will vote for McCain. For some reason the media are showing favortism and I don’t think they or McCain treated Hillary Clinton and are giving Sarah Palin the same treatment. I’m a man, but I do not understand how women can vote for a party that has treated them this way. My wife and I are registered democrats, but we plan to change our registration to independent. For us, Country first and Party last. In between is family and Church.

One will remind everyone of the future and one will everyone of the past.

PEOPLE – - – WAKE UP!! TREASURY SECRETARY PAULSON, ALONG WITH BUSH & McCAIN WANT TAXPAYER-BACKED CORPORATE WELFARE FOR THE RICH.
NO MATTER HOW THEY SPIN IT, THIS WILL BE SOCIALISM FOR THE RICH, AND A HORRIFIC DISASTER FOR THE MIDDLE-CLASS!!
Secretary of the Treasurer Henry Paulson knows the financial industry is a disaster and in deep ‘elephant-manure’. The President and Congress agree. The problem now is the Paulson/Bush solution, which is to bailout the very same rich folks and corporations that helped bring us this national debacle. Come on people, can’t you see this! The CEO’s of these financial institutions doled out millions of bad loans and now they want TAXPAYER-BACKED CORPORATE WELFARE TO COVER THEIR LOSSES.
NOW GET THIS – - All the while neither Bush nor Paulson will acknowledge that this $700-Billion bailout is ONLY A PATCH FOR THE IMMDEIATE. THE FALLOUT OF THIS “8-YEAR-MESS-IN-THE-MAKING” WILL CONTINUE IN SPITE OF THE WALL STREET BAILOUT. The shock wave and repercussions will continue to spread as the:
(1.) dollar continues to sink,
(2.) inflation, food, retail, and energy skyrockets due to the printing of more paper money,
(3.) the value of homes continue to decline,
(4.) the skyrocketing lost of more jobs due to pressures on companies to secure cash,
(5.) more foreign nations pulling their investments from the U.S.,

Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results. Twice in the last 8 years the American people have allowed the Republicans to steal presidential elections; and, as a consequence, this country is in the worst shape it’s ever been in since the Great Depression (which was also caused by Republican policies). Now, how can anyone with an once of intellect believe that electing another Republican administration will somehow result in something different than what we’ve seen in the last 8 years. One has to be insane to believe that something different will happen by doing the same thing. Think about it people. This is our last chance to get it right. If we don’t, the destruction of the United States started by the Bush administration will be finished by the Palin/McCain administration. Obama/Biden 2008!!!

I have never witnessed such a media-biased campaign. They treat Obama like royalty. Since when did the media stop reporting and start dictating policy. This is not american idol but they are treating like it’s that sort of a contest. Edward R. Murrow must be rolling over in his grave. Here is a distinguisrd Senator who spent six years in a prisoner of war camp. This alone should give him the same respect you would give any stranger on the street but the media is a runaway train.

Kent, you are hot today man, too bad you are wrong so much. I’m a registered democrat and I have finally woke up to the fact that that party has gone to the dogs and is not the old democrat party anymore. You are dumb if you haven’t kept up with what has been going on even back in the Clinton administration. All this started under his keep and you know it. All the agreements with other countries. I myself do not like Bush, but I do believe McCain is different and is the one to lead us out of this trouble. We don’t need someone to bankrupt us more. Obama is not smart enough to do this. He would make a good Chicago shoe shine boy and you should put you up a stand next to him.

I dont’ love Sarah Palin. As an animal lover and proud supporter of the environment, she scares me to death. Does everyone just vote party regardless of their candidates stand on issues? Do you know what she stands for? Here’s one issue she supported..and you tell me if this is the type of person you want to be that close to leader of the country. Have you ever heard of aerial hunting? It’s a brutal practice. Wolves are shot from low-flying aircraft or chased to exhaustion, then killed at point-blank range.
Governor Sarah Palin, the Republican nominee for Vice President, promotes this barbaric practice, exploiting a loophole in the Federal Airborne Hunting Act to allow private wolf killers to shoot down wolves using aircraft. To encourage the killing, she even proposed a $150 bounty for the left foreleg of each dead wolf!
We have to get the word out about this! Please watch this powerful new television ad by Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund, and then share it with every wildlife lover you know:

Hello Barefootboy. The our Great Nation can not afford the economic views of the Republican party any longer. It is a simple fact. The current President came into office with a surplus and is leaving in 8 years witht he greatest debt. Another 4 years of the last 8 years and I will have to learn Chinese because they will own this Country.

Unlike most people, I am going to be looking for good common sense and intelligent understanding of the situation, not one line zingers and insults. If McCain starts with the usual zings and attacks then I will not listen to him not even for even a minute. If he cant get serious about this election then he will lose because it is he that is behind and it is he that needs to convince me and America that he’s smarter or more open minded than Obama, which I seriously doubt, and not just better at witty insults.

This would be interesting if they hadn’t managed to turn the Vice Presidential debate into a beauty contest with nothing more than simple short questions and answers. I’m sure that Ms. Congeniality will do just fine nnow that they can’t ask her about her experience.
I wish they could draw more attention to her abysmal womens rights record.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s hometown required women to pay for their own rape examinations while she was mayor, a practice her police chief fought to keep as late as 2000.
A former Alaskan lawmaker says it seems unlikely that Gov. Sarah Palin was unaware of Wasilla’s policy.
Former state Rep. Eric Croft, a Democrat, sponsored a state law requiring cities to provide the examinations free of charge to victims. He said the only ongoing resistance he met was from Wasilla, where Palin was mayor from 1996 to 2002.
“It was one of those things everyone could agree on except Wasilla,” Croft told CNN. “We couldn’t convince the chief of police to stop charging them.”
Alaska’s Legislature in 2000 banned the practice of charging women for rape exam kits — which experts said could cost up to $1,000.
Palin, the Republican nominee for vice president, often talks about her experience running Wasilla, population approximately 7,000, and that has prompted close scrutiny of her record there. Wasilla’s practice of charging victims for their rape exams while she was mayor has gotten wide circulation on the Internet and in the mainstream media. Watch CNN’s Jessica Yellin check the facts in Wasilla »
Some supporters of Palin say they believe she had no knowledge of the practice. But critics call it “outrageous” and question Palin’s commitment to helping women who are the victims of violence.
For years, Alaska has had the worst record of any state in rape and in murder of women by men. The rape rate in Alaska is 2.5 times the national average.
Interviews and a review of records turned up no evidence that Palin knew that rape victims were being charged in her town. But Croft, the former state representative who sponsored the law changing the practice, says it seems unlikely Palin was not aware of the issue.

I’m a registered Republican and I see how far the GOP has gone to the dogs, ever since BUSH and McSAME. I will vote for OBAMA because he is not a BUSH-CLONE. McCAIN “I think you will find that I agree with the president most of the time, not all of the time, but on every important issue, about 90% of the time I stood by the President”. And of course also said that the economy is “fundamentally strong” of course he has had no option but to do a flip-flop.
Speaking of flip-flops, he said “I do not support a bailout” then the very next day, after BUSH announced the largest bailout in US history he said “the bailout was necassary”. The truth is he can’t possibly make that judgement either way because as he said “I really don’t have a very good understand economics”.

Well Obama was in Jacksonville FL Saturday and had 30000 people and most were black and the few whites they had were placed behind the speaker podium to make it appear that there were more whites. Palin was at The Villages close to Orlando and had over 60000 people there and people turned away. They called it Palinrama. The papers didn’t have much about her but loaded with articles about Obama. It is all media driven but the people know what is going on and I think you will see that on Nov 4th. Why do I know all this about this past weekend, I know people that was at both of them. The media did admit that Palin had twice as many people

Get real. McCAIN has admitted that he “does not know how to google”. Heck, my mother who is about McCAAIN’s age (and retired for 10 years) doesn’t use a computer. Even McCAIN has admitted this and he admits to very little. If it were untrue then the McCAIN camp would respond and the media would cover it.
This has nothing to do with war injuries, it is completely generational and this add is nothing compared to adds run by the McCAIN/PALIN LIE MACHINE.

Kent, I’m getting off here but you libs keep up the criticizing of Palin. This is helping her more than anything and this has been admitted by some liberal media. The lates poll show that 67% of men approve of her and 62% of women. I though it would be reversed, but you democrats have been telling hillary and sarah that they don’t like women. Obama threw hillary under the bus and then told her supporters to get over it. My wife and I were Hillary supporters and we are joining millions of others and voting against Obama. He thought they would all fall in line and vote for him, but he will find out. I remember when they said he had a gay relation with Larry Sinclair and now I’m beginning to believe he may have. How can we point to his experience in North Vietnam as the mold which forged his character, when the character that it forged voted against the interests of his fellow veterans time and time again?

A college student in Denver is creating a stir after notifying the media that her English professor gave her classmates an anti-Sarah Palin writing assignment.
Janna Barber is a student at Metro State College in Denver, Colorado, where she attends an English class taught by Andrew Hallam — who she describes as a “self-styled liberal Bush basher.” The controversy began when Hallam gave an assignment that directed his students to write an essay contradicting what he called the “fairy tale image” of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Furthermore, according to Barber, Hallam asked Republican students to identify themselves, and then he sat back and laughed while other students ridiculed them and shouted four-letter obscenities.
This upset Barber, who filed a complaint with the school and brought the matter to the attention of the local CBS affiliate. Since then she has appeared on Fox News and the O’Reilly Factor.
Matt Barber is Janna’s older brother and the director of cultural affairs at Liberty Counsel. He says the school has been “obstinate” about the incident thus far.
“They are really setting out my sister Janna and trying to portraying her as kind of a lone agitator in this situation,” says the Liberty Counsel spokesman. “And [they] are not expressing any remorse and are giving no indication that they intend to exercise any disciplinary action against Professor Hallam, which is definitely due.”
But Matt says since the story broke, Hallam has announced the assignment will include other political figures such as Barack Obama and John McCain. Regardless, Matt contends the damage is already done. He also believes this problem is not isolated.
“So I would encourage — and I know Janna is encouraging — other Republican and conservative students on campuses around the country to stand up and expose their professors who are trying to brainwash students on college campuses,” says Matt.
The local CBS affiliate quotes a school spokesperson who acknowledged that while it is the responsibility of the school to provide opportunity for critical thinking and civic engagement, Hallem “should have broadened [the assignment] and included all the political figures.”

Obama is toast. The AP poll on racial attitudes is a foreshadow piece, letting the far-left of this country down gradually.
No focus on his socialist policies, massive wealth redistribution, the extra $50,000,000,000 in anti-poverty handouts the UN is so good at siphening money from, or that he couldn’t find any corruption in Chicago to “change.” Simply that he is “not like those guys on the dollar bills.”(BHO)
I’m sure I’ll get the usual responses of “McSame” or (a personal favorite)”Bush III.” So be it. But remember that a vote for BHO is not a vote against Bush. You’re voting against a true patriot in McCain and for Rev. Wright’s 20 year student.

John McCAIN said he would fire the head of the FCC (who is on record as saying he’s quitting at the end of Bush”s term), Even Republican”s believe this was not a very Presidential move. John McCAIN said the fundamentals of the economy are strong, not just the other day, he also said it a month ago. President BUSH has been telling us not to worry and then announces the largest bailout in American history. Then McCAIN had to back peddle and say that the American worker is fundamentally strong. That sentence doesn’t even make sense. McCAIN said that he did not favor the bailout of AIG, then the next day it was announced that AIG would be bailed out and he said it was necessary (a complete flip-flop) in one day.
Believe McCAIN when he says “I don’t really know much about economics”, which are his words before he has tried to reinvent himself as a financial guru.

Here is how McCAIN handled his first major decision, the choice of the VP. First he chose Senator Leibermann to be his running mate, but Limbaugh and other conservatives lambasted him. Then he chose Tom Ridge, but because of his views on abortion, this trial balloon also popped. So, he picks a 21 month Governor of the third least populous state, after meeting her just one time.
This is what PALIN had to say “As for that VP talk all the time, I”ll tell you, I still can”t answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does every day?” Sarah Palin, interview with CNBC”s “Kudlow & Co”, July 2008
McCAIN can answer what the VP job is. According to McCAIN “the job of the Vice President is to inquire on the health of the President and attend the funerals of third world dictators”.

Posted by: indevoter | September 22, 2008, 2:35 pm 2:35 pm

This administration and McCAIN does not take any responsibility for their actions. They simply throw body after body under the bus. Rumsfeild was merely following the presidents orders in “transforming” the military. “Brownie you’re doing a heck of a job”, George W. Bush. Brown was a personal friend who BUSH hired. BUSH is the one who cut back funding for the levies in New Orleans and BUSH is the one who cut funding for FEMA. Now Christopher Cox needs to be fired, according to McSHAME.
What ever happened to “the buck stops here”. With the current administration and McCAIN it’s “how can we pass the buck for our own failures”. I know we’ll blame it all on OBAMA. Very sad indeed.
McCAIN has posted his “new” (not really it’s more of the same) economic plan on his website. “There is more information on the back of a box of Fruit Loops”, Barack Obama.

These aren’t arguments, they are FACTS. Something BHO supporters seem to have no grasp of. In science, words mean little, unless they can be backed up by FACTS.
Under BHO, it would be much easier to get on welfare, form community programs for everything imaginable that receive federal money, etc… For people that work hard, pay their bills on time, pay more than their fair share already to support, even further, able-bodied, nonproductive citizens that have no desire to work, or contribute to society, is socialism. And really unAmerican. And oh yeah, he is an African-American.

In a country where premarital sex is as prevalnet as sliced bread, where will her abstenance only “philisophy” lead women? Remember, we are the ones who have to bear a unplanned child, not the men.
Her religious fundamentalism, my way or the highway and lack of knowledge about anything other than oil drilling will make her the worst VP in history and will push us women back in time rather than open opportunities.
As a woman from Asia, I can make so many asian countries with women presidents or prime ministers. The fact that there has never been one in the USA is mindboggling given rights and opportunities available to women here, including me.
I beg all women to set aside your emotion, put on the thinking hat and focus on their policies and beliefs. If you think she will make the lifes of working mothers better, go for it!

Each time they open mouth and insert foot, FOX drags them back in, cleans them up, hands them a script and turns on the cameras. They must be getting frustrated by now.

McCain has a built in advanatage in the debates in that all he has to do is show up and not get slaughtered. Obama has to win the debates by being clearly more in command of the issues and to do it in a way that people are comfortable with. Obama is smart… and he will not be hampered by the touchy-feely “we’re on the same team” constraints of his debates with Clinton. I think there’s a good chance he will shine. Hopefully he will.

He will do very serious harm to this country. The people of this country are finally starting to wake up to the truth and see Obama for what he is. Stop, look and listen! Learn the truth before it is too late. He is scary!

Hahaha, inefectual Democratic government?
First off, the regulatory system and agencies that would have been in charge of preventing this meltdown fall within the Executive Branch. I hate to burst your little bubble, but two years of a Democratic Congress that was not allowed to take any action because of record Republican filibustering had no impact on this disaster. Bush/McCain policies of cowering in the corner with tail firmly placed between legs while Wall Street ‘gets drunk’ (Bush’s words, not mine) allowed these firms to run wild without consequence. They are now feeling the pain of that irresponsiblity.
I, like most Americans, yearn for a return to the Clinton Democratic Economic years. When Washington put the interests of those in the living room over those in the Board Room, and we all benefited.
After the market collapse, Obama immediatly detailed a plan to reign in corporate stupidity, preserve the free market, and help individuals stay in their homes.
McDrool on the other hand-
Said the economy was strong
then said it wasn’t
then said it was but he meant workers
then said he would fire the SEC chair
then realized he can’t as President
then said he would fire the FEC chair
then took a nap
then said he wouldn’t talk to a key ally
then said he would
then said he wouldn’t
then said we need a 9/11 commission
then said maybe we don’t
then said we do.
Then Palin said ‘lipstick’ a thousand times.

I have come to decide that the majority of Americans are idiots and have no understanding about our government and how it was designed to run. This is clear when I listen to both canidates speak. There are instances where I see a glimmer of hope but then it is backed up with so much B.S. Read about the history of the Romans because the way they fell is happening in America.

Just to correct many of your commenters, McCain rarely if ever mentions his POW experience on the stump. That’s why it was so dramatic in his acceptance speech.
The pathetic envy of his life experiences motivates his foes to accuse him of this obsession with his imprisonment. They know they would have died of fright their first night in captivity, and would have rushed to be let go if offered early release as McCain was. It took great character to turn his captors down, and this enemies know, deep down, that their characters are weak.
It is a classic example of projection. McCain exemplifies the masculinity and bravery that most of his foes lack, so they have to trash it in order to continue having any self-regard.
I sympathize, but I wish you guys would grow up and stop publicizing your neuroses and panic.

“Once the Winner story gets out, Obama is toast.”
Then I think Obama’s destined to be nice, squishy Wonder Bread for a good long time. Or maybe whole-grain wheat and oat bran sprinkled with pumpkin seeds, fresh and fragrant and distinctly untoasted.
Because there is no way the MSM will touch the Winner & Co. story. A few will engage in a perfunctory inquiry so they can tell their readers that “we checked it out and we couldn’t find anything.” But anything that throws off the narrative of “McCain’s serial lies,” will not be covered.

Barefootboy, my entire family has served in the United States military and continue. This question has ZERO to do with McCain’s service for our country.
My question is “their” excuse for McCain not being able to use a computer. Just because McCain was a POW is not a reason why I find this questionable. McCain suffering for our country has NOTHING to do with it. (By the way I can’t comb my own hair, reach for anything, lift, reach, push or pull, I am capable in using a key board. This is the issue Barefootboy.
Get off the “Shame on you” boat, bud!
The issue has nothing to do with “HOW” he was injured. I have a great amount of respect for ALL our military and ALL the POW’s that have suffered! One more thing my friend,
“it’s a shame that our country has gotten in the shape morally and patriotically as it has.” “One day it will cost you.”
Well Barefootboy, I’m a registered voter, a citizen of the United States of America, a proud citizen. With that, I will end this post to you.
I agree with McCain’s slogan. “Country first.” This is exactly why I am confident when I cast my vote.

jmo, but the game-changer has always been waiting in the undecided percentage. once the race card was played on Bill Clinton, voters began worrying that if Bill Clinton could be called a racist, it could happen to anyone. from that moment on, undecideds began breaking sharply toward Hillary in the voting booth. again, this is not because these undecideds are racists, but because they were concerned about being perceived as racists. Obama usually converted his poll numbers into votes (he didn’t overpoll), but Hillary always underpolled, then picked up significant support from the undecideds.
the media shouldn’t have portrayed Bill Clinton as a racist and the Obama campaign shouldn’t have let it drag on. short term gains, but long term worries, because now they can’t get an accurate take on where voters really stand.
so, undecideds=potential Trojan Horse. if the undecided percentage is still significant the day before the election, it’s going to be President McCain.

Hey, I’m with Wong of Dynamite and the others who actually read or listen to news and what the candidates say and do. And I’m not “bashing” Governor Palin. I just don’t want a Vice President who makes up stuff, believes she should be able to have civil servant-protected public employees fired, and tells inconsistent stories from one moment to the next. There is no comparison, Diana, between Obama who actually has a good record for being a clean politician in Illinois, and Governor Pailin, who sticks to incorrect stories like glue, and is willing to bury an investigation into her practices that was initiated at her invitation by Republicans. This is not “bashing,” it’s vetting a prospective vice president. Which is something, by the way, that McCain failed to do.
So, yes, my support goes all the way to Obama.

You are assuming this Obama lead is real and not just a funtion of the polling companies and people saying they are undecided when they actually know who they are going to vote for.
The two most reputable polling companies, Rasmussen and Gallup show a dead heat Rass, or a small Obama lead among RV but a large McCain lead among likely voters.
CNN CBS and others are using old party weightings and RV?
There is also the pressure and downright abuse and threats suffered by people who even try to be fair to the McCain Palin ticket at the hands of Obama zealots.
I believe there is a not insignificant silent McCain vote out there and that he is actually ahead.
It is not racism, but ceratinly having someone scream that you are a racist in your face makes one less likely to tell people that they support the McCain ticket.
Obama would have to be ahead by at least 5% of LIKELY voters to win and he isnt even close to that.

To tm who posted much earlier:
You state that Obama is open to new ideas, yet he has never once demonstrated a willingness or ability to walk across the aisle to work with republicans. All you need to do is look at his voting record.
As for Obama being a visionary or progressive, give me a break. This guy, along with all of the other so-called progressives, peddles in outdated collectivism. His policies are based upon New Deal concepts from the 1930′s.
As for Palin not being qualified or ready, no one on this board or anywhere else has been able to offer up anything to suggest Obama is ready. Just look how he botched the whole Russia/Georgia thing. He changed his mind multiple times over 3 days. You can’t do that in a crises situation. That’s not being open-minded, it’s being unprepared and just not too bright.

Gallop and Rasmussen mean nothing at all and Obama is ahead in those. Ask Al Gore how much a national poll means. The only ones that matter are the states and Obama is clearly ahead in the state polls and will be the 44th President of the United States.

So here goes again to my Republican friends:
help me understand why I (we) should go Republican again this year given the Republican leadership 12 out of 14 years of Congress and 8 of the last 12 as President and we got:
1. Mission Accomplished – ooops, no its not
2. not one WMD, anywhere.
3. Abu Gharib and other torture incidents that now leave our people open to torture
4. a badly mismanaged war in Iraq and thousands dead and injured – I know, cause my brother did two tours and got injured – his conclusion – “this mission is FUBAR and I am not going back” as of Aug 2007 he retired after 25 years in the Marines.
5. Katrina – a huge national embarassment and preventable tragedy
6. CIA agents having their cover blown from the White House, no less
7. a massive budgetary surplus, squandered in less than 4 years
8. the biggest expansion of government since FDR
9. our standing in the world is at nil – trsut me I am an internatinal businessman, and it is very hard to do business these days..no one trusts us anymore
10. the biggest financial meltdown since the great depression – and soon to be $11.5trillion in debt mostly to the Chinese and Saudis (so much for Natl Security)
I’ll give you, the Bush admin took it to Al Qaeda big time…and Pres Bush has very quietly done some great things for Africa (AIDS meds, etc.)
Now here is the challenge…I want to see people man up/woman up like I am and admitting my vote last time was potentially not too smart, and I dont want to hear Republican talking points, or happy talk that the “fundamentals of the economy are good” or scardey talk that if the Dems get in Al Qaeds will nuke us…or Obama, this and Obama that
just give me 10 things that the Republicans are going to change if we give the them Congress and the White House – again…what is going to be different than the last 8-10 years….I look forward to intelligent discourse, and no abuse…

So where did this 60,000 come from. Schmidt? Another comment from my ma. People sat and stood there for hours in the blazing sun, Palin showed up, spoke for 25 minutes, didn’t take any questions and then was whisked away. The reaction of my ma and many others, very underwhelmed. And I love the comments where McCain is going to destroy Obama in these debates. Your post is one long series of talking points. It’s all straight from the playbook. By the way, as an international businessman, you ought to be able to spell international properly.
It would take too long to deal with all of your posts, so I’ll just take a few.
First, in case you haven’t read the papers, it was Richard Armitage who blew the cover of Valerie Plame, who was already well known anyway.
Second, the idea that what happened at Abu Gharib opens our people up to more torture is laughable on it’s face. Torture has been commonplace in war for as long as there’s been war. Do you honestly believe that if went to war with say Iran, Iranian policy would be to increase torture due to Abu Gharib? I don’t think people with their mindset ever need a greater incentive to act like animals.
As for the squandered surplus, nothing angers me more than when Congress has a surplus to spend. It’s the American people’s money, not theirs. Here’s a novel idea; why not cut out all of the useless, unconstitutional items in the budget and give the money back to the people who produced it in the first place, Americans.

The reality of this election is this. If Obama is not ahead by 10 pts. coming to election night he will lose. Not because he is not the best candidate, the smartest candidate, or because of his policies, or position on issues. Not because the Rep. Admin is the worst in history, the economy is reaching depression era crisis, gov’t bailing out the rich has become policy on the backs of the middle class, debt at record highs, war continuing at nauseum, etc. It is because he is black and America is still not ready for a black leader in 2008.

but you don’t mention that McCain’s father and grandfather BOTH did terrible at the Naval Academy…and retired as Admirals!
do you want a self serving lawyer as your president, or a guy, like his father and his father, have shown the selflessness that we, as Americans, admire and respect?
and do you want to ‘hire’ your president based on his education?…or everything he has done for this country since graduation?
i hire people based on experience and integrity…and for president, love of country and dedication are the intangibles i look for. this is easy.

Posted by: voxpolitico | September 22, 2008, 5:14 pm 5:14 pm

Obama hypocritical?
Does Obama practice what he preaches? A non-partisan group, LegiStorm looked into it, and Deroy Murdock of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports on what they found:
Based on calculations, Obama’s 28 male staffers divided among themselves total payroll expenditures of $1,523,120. Thus, Obama’s average male employee earned $54,397.
Obama’s 30 female employees split $1,354,580 among themselves, or $45,152, on average.
Why this disparity? One reason may be the under-representation of women in Obama’s highest-compensated ranks. Among Obama’s five best-paid advisors, only one was a woman. Among his top 20, seven were women. Again, on average, Obama’s female staffers earn just 83 cents for every dollar his male staffers make. This figure certainly exceeds the 77-cent threshold that Obama’s campaign website condemns. However, 83 cents do not equal $1. In spite of this 17-cent gap between Obama’s rhetoric and reality, he chose to chide GOP presidential contender John McCain on this issue.
What about John McCain’s Senate staff. According to the same study, his female staff makes more than their male counterparts–$1.04 for every $1.00 a McCain male staffer makes.
So if you are a female staffer working in Barack Obama’s Senate office, you might want to consider applying for a job with John McCain.

Posted by: jeffjohn | September 22, 2008, 5:18 pm 5:18 pm

I too love the comments that McCain is going to destroy Obama in the debates. They’re made by people who either refuse to listen to what Obama says and refuse to recognize just how on top of all the major issues he is, or have become so zombified by listening to McCain and Palin robotically repeat their simple-minded talking points that they simply can’t recognize genuine intelligence when they see it.
Either way, idiots like that are helping keep expectations for Obama’s performance low, so when he mops the floor with McCain the overall effect on the voting public will be all the more overwhelming. Thanks for your help!
And Matt, if you looking for “integrity,” then how can take McCain seriously? The last few weeks have caught him in lie after lie after lie, and shown him flip-flopping on every position like a fish out of water. If that’s what you consider “integrity,” I’d hate to see what counts as dishonesty and lack of principle in your world.
And Chris, I think you’re dead wrong. Think back to the Dem primaries — Obama consistently underpolled by at least 5-6 points. When Clinton was supposed to blow him out in TX & IN, he came within a couple points of beating her. Her expected 18-20 point win in PA ended up being 9 points. And what was supposed to be a tight race in NC ended up with Clinton losing by 14. The old polling methods haven’t caught up to the new realities of this year’s electorate. So long as it’s still a horserace in the polls going into the election Obama’s going to win. He’ll have all the Kerry states, Iowa’s already in the bag, and his leads in CO and NM keep growing. All he needs is ONE more state and he wins.

Posted by: Lemmy | September 22, 2008, 5:29 pm 5:29 pm

Yeah Chris, go ahead and play the race card. I’m voting for McCain and it has nothing to do with color. McCain calls a truce with a person he called an agent of intolerance and everyone calls him a flip flopper. Obama sits in church listening to racist, hateful anti-american garbage for twenty years and you have the nerve to say if he looses it’s because he’s black. If he loses it’s because he has no experience and his short track record indicates he has poor judgement.

Posted by: Richard | September 22, 2008, 5:44 pm 5:44 pm

You act as if there is no Bradley Effect at all to be considered in this election. A lead of a few percentage points in nationwide popular votes gives a Democratic candidate no advantage at all. And a black Democratic candidate should be considered significantly behind if his national popular vote edge is only a point or two. Less then 6 points and he loses the election in the electoral college.

Posted by: dajhilton | September 22, 2008, 5:49 pm 5:49 pm

John McCain may be a master debater, but Obama is a cunning linguist. Seriously though, McCain tends to answer questions with generic phrases from his campaign. i.e. “Drill here, drill now.” and “I will veto ear marks, and I will make them famous, you will know their names.”
Obama puts a lot of thought into his answers. That can be a double edged sword. If he keeps his answers short and direct, he will do well. But if he carries on too much, his answers may come off as weak or unclear.
I am looking forward to this debate. If Obama does well, It could spell the end for McCain.

It makes no sense spending trillions of dollars trying to shore up this Rube Goldberg matrix of interdependent financial black holes. Rather, we should let capitalism do the clean up for us. Sure, the investors involved will suffer significant losses and the investment banks will fail. So what. Assets are still assets, and cash is still cash. The end result standing aside and letting the ill-advised experiment of separating investment and risk fail, is that it will force commercial and private borrowers and lenders to base their transactions on reality going forward. Rather than killing the credit markets, getting back to basics is absolutely essential to their future vitality.

I use to have respect for McCain, but he is a totally different person then he was 8 years ago. He is not a “Maverick.” He is a puppet for his party. His “Straight Talk” has been replaced with crooked lies. He is now a desperate man willing to try anything to win. He picked Sarah Palin for VP as pathetic attempt to gain Clinton’s female voters. Now that her true colors are showing, his campaign is falling apart. His ads are full of bold face lies, and the press has called him on it. And last week he showed just how little he knows about the economy.

Obama will win all of the following:
-The debates
-The popular vote
-The electoral college
-Re-election in ’12
Bank on it.

John McCain is not a master debater. The town hall meetings are his strength and the debate is his weakest. Just like the speech at the convention he can put everyone to sleep. He seems to come out the gate fast and give him a couple of subjects and he appears to wander in his statements. I really think his age creates the appearance of these issues.

Posted by: deanbob | September 22, 2008, 7:56 pm 7:56 pm

McCain announced that a committee should be put together to investigate the current market crisis. The Dems said no way and Obama even laughed it off. The truth is, they know all the evidence will lead back to them. If their hands were clean, and they thought the Republicans had anything to do with it, the Dems would be all for it.

Posted by: deanbob | September 22, 2008, 8:35 pm 8:35 pm

The dems are blocking any bi-partisan commission on the economy and dragging their feet on approving any kind of legislation that would help us get out of this mess because it helps obama in the polls. do you think they really want to solve the economic crisis in the US under bush’s watch? the dems are just as much liable for this mess as the republicans.

You can jump and twist and shout all you want, but McCain made the two key plays in this election.
1) Of all the possible choices, he picked Palin. Palin is George Bush in lipstick. She is even more crazily ideological than Bush. I want change.
2) Before picking Palin, McCain indicated his first choice was Lieberman. If elected, social conservatives now know Maverick McCain would likely nominate pro-choice Lieberman to an easy confirmation to the Supreme Court. McCain is sufficiently vindictive to get back at the “agents of intolerance”.
A relevant piece related to the above is that the Palin pick was done to “solidify McCain’s base”. But the “base” referred to are the religious right. What happened to the fiscal conservatives that used to be the “base” of the Republican Party??? If you have been a fiscal conservative Republican for many years, you know that one year ago John McCain was not your candidate. I am not a Republican but I do respect the role that fiscally conservative Republicans have played in balancing our national political agenda. They were horribly excluded this election and should let people know about it. John McCain is more dangerous to our economy than Obama in the same way that George Bush has been more dangerous to our economy than Bill Clinton was. You can jump and twist and shout all you want, but you know it’s true.

Its a mistake to underestimate McCain’s debating skills. He is quick to draw, shoots fast, and uses his sense of humour well.
I’m an Obama supporter. I’m taking nothing for granted. I hope Obama doesn’t either.

It truly amazes me how many people still believe Barack Obama has a chance in this election. Sometimes the writing can be emblazoned on the wall with spotlights and a siren blaring and the dolts of the world still wouldn’t see it.
Here’s a clue–John McCain could trip climbing the stairs at the debate, hiccup all the way through, fall asleep for ten minutes in the middle and let the word “uppity” slip in his closing statement AND HE’LL STILL BE ELECTED PRESIDENT IN NOVEMBER.
Barack Obama cannot win, and has never had a chance. Are you people really this naive?
Here’s another hint–this year it is truly a “race” to the White House…but not in the sense of a contest. LOOK BEYOND THE PRESS. Do some homework. You’ll figure it out.
LAST HINT–Obama will lose virtually every Republican vote. He’ll lose a significant majority of the senior vote. He’ll lose a majority of the women’s vote. This in and of itself is probably enough to cost him the election…but he’s going to lose a significant portion of the DEMOCRAT vote, and all the pretty words in the world can’t make that go away. Here are some search terms to look for…”ABC News poll race factor”, “AP-Yahoo race poll”, “the Bradley effect”. There are others. They are clear. Obama cannot win!

The economic proposals of Obama dealing with healthcare display a naivete about economics of the health insurance industry. This is unusual because his wife is a hospital administrator with a major hospital in Chicago. Barack Obama mentions that his mother had to fight with insurance companies during her terminal illness. Barack vowed to eliminate discrimination by insurers. This is doublespeak for banning preexisting condition provisions in insurance company health policies which are the cornerstone of the entire concept of insurance. Health insurance is not like welfare that you can collect if you need it. The economic principle of health insurance is that healthy people pay into the system and only a few draw out. Over a fourth of people in the United States do not have health insurance and many do not have health insurance simply out of choice. People that are in their twenties and thirties and are healthy and may chose to self insure. However, if these same people only decide to purchase health insurance when they want to have a baby or a special elective operation or become aware that they have a health condition such as cancer, then the system breaks down. Only sick people will pay into the system and healthy people will opt out because there is no incentive to maintain health insurance. If insurance companies can’t exclude people due to preexisting condition then the rates will become exorbitant for everyone. It is the same principle as life insurance.
If you try to buy a new life insurance policy when you are 100 years old the premium is significantly different then if you are sixteen years old. If the premiums were the same for a new policy for a 100 year old person as a sixteen year old person then the whole system would fall apart. No one would buy life insurance until they turned seventy. Similarly eliminating preexisting conditions exclusions will destroy the economic business model of medical insurance. People will only opt in when they get sick. Insurance insurance does not operate a straight flow system. It is based on the risk principle and there has to be risk in order for the model to work.

Barack Obama and Joe Biden have no military background between them and do not even have the background to know who to connect with to get straight back channel information. Barack Obama and Joe Biden lack the knowledge to even ask the right questions even if they could line up a current day Pug Henry commander to give them the straight scoop. It is totally inaccurate to argue that John McCain is somehow dogmatic in his approach and understanding of foreign affairs. Herman Wouk wove history into his novels. There is saying that those who do not know history are doomed to repeat history. John McCain knows history and has lived it and will use that knowledge to guide the United States through the tough challenges that we face in the war on terror, radical Islam and dealing with a resurgent Russia.

The housing problem was caused by The Community Reinvestment Act of 1977 that mandated that each banking institution be evaluated to determine if it has met the credit needs of its entire community. This law was revised substantially increasing the number and aggregate amount of loans to small businesses and to low- and moderate-income borrowers for home loans in 1995.

Posted by: deanbob | September 22, 2008, 9:17 pm 9:17 pm

In 2003, the Bush Administration recommended what the NY Times called “the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago.” [5] This change was to move governmental supervision of two of the primary agents guaranteeing subprime loans, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac under a new agency created within the Department of the Treasury. However, it did not alter the implicit guarantee that Washington will bail the companies out if they run into financial difficulty; that perception enabled them to issue debt at significantly lower rates than their competitors. The changes were generally opposed along Party lines and eventually failed to happen. Representative Barney Frank(D-MA) claimed of the thrifts “These two entities — Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — are not facing any kind of financial crisis, the more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.” Representative Mel Watt (D-NC) added “I don’t see much other than a shell game going on here, moving something from one agency to another and in the process weakening the bargaining power of poorer families and their ability to get affordable housing.”
Some Repubs crossed the aisle-so no overhaul.

Obama wants to starve America for energy by refusing to drill close-in offshore, where the oil is. He is compounding his problem by refusing to embrace all forms of energy, including clean nuclear and clean coal. Big mistake when people are paying $4.00+ for gasoline. There are serious shortages in some cities. No gas at all.
Democrats have cut their own throats.
Americans want “all of the above”… Voters want offshore drilling NOW, they want clean coal, compressed natural gas, wind, solar, nuclear… ALL OF THE ABOVE.
Obama and Democrats will throw this election away. There is NO GAS AT ALL at the pumps in many cities and towns RIGHT NOW.
Every disgruntled voter who can’t get to work is another voter that will switch to Republican.
For 15 years, Democrats have prevented the US from becoming energy independent.
Obama’s “Do Without” attitude will lose him suburban and rural voters.
Democrats will get what they deserve for refusing an “all of the above” plan for energy.

Right-wing women for some reason look way better and yet they can be more sometimes more “nutty”. Anyway you people suck, because it should totally be about the issues and not old war hero vs. black man. And to the last person who said that Obama doesn’t have a chance. You are such a loser. Wake up and smell the Starbucks. You hink Obama is going to lose because he is black. You didn’t come out and say it but I can take a hint and I hope you are wrong in every kind of way. Because you sound like someone from the 50s and not relevant to the real issues. And women are smart enough to decide on the issues. Stay cool people!

Anyone who votes for McCain puts America in great danger. Sarah Palin is entirely unprepared and she is his CHOICE for President beside himself.
On merits alone Bush’s mismanagement cannot be condoned, and those who voted for him twice should apologize and just not vote in 2008.
Now, with Sarah Palin a heartbeat away, you are irresponsible to vote for McCain even if you have supported the party for every year of your life. This isn’t Obama’s fault or my fault or your fault, it is John McCain’s fault. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of more qualified people in the upper tiers of government in our country, including many women. John McCain put this country in harms way by intentionally disrupting an important debate about the future of our country by playing to our most naive voters’ most primative fears.
Fortunately, if Obama wins then Sarah Palin will be forgotten in history books, an interesting tid-bit like the Lincoln-Douglas Debates.
If McCain wins, however, it will be his “Nero” moment, when McCain single-handedly chose winning an election and being popular over having a competent and intelligent person to lead the ship.

How about this? The oil cronies have created the gas shortage to influence the election with another, “fake” crisis. The have taken advantage of hurricane ike’s devastation, and shut down the pipeline from the gulf to the “red states”, and claimed it was damaged by the hurricane. Now, we are experiencing a fake gasoline shortage, and you blame democrats’ energy policies. Its supply, demand, and a presidential election. I hope you live near your polling place!!

During these serious times, people are acting immature! Why? Who knows! I wish that people can work together and figure it out quickly. If our dollar falls into negative value, we will definitely go into deep market depression. It is unfortunate that McCain get the bad wrap, because the crisis accord under his party administration. George Bush is in the charge, but it takes a long time for such a crisis to break out like this. I do believe both parties are to blame here. Instead of playing the blame game, I wish they focus on solving it. Even though, Barrack started by pouncing on a misstep in choice of word from McCain, McCain should not be punished like this. Plus, Barrack got him flustered and McCain couldn’t recover from Obama’s laundry of lies. So, I am not here to play politics! I want the best person in the office. It is McCain.

I do sincerely believe both party understand the middle class and so forth. Both want our votes. However, I do believe one wants it for power and the other wants it to serve. It is obvious to me. Obama just got into Congress like 3 years ago. His party noticed that people naturally drawn to him. He is charming! So, the party wanted him to run for President. So, it is the party’s ambition or greed for power. McCain has been a senator for 26 years. He is ready!!

Thank Goodness that the debates will level the playing field. The mainstream media is in for a complete shock, from the debates to the final results. McCain will win, like Truman versus Dewey…but they will deny it all the way to the end. Truman was not FDR, and McCain is certainly not like Bush.

McCain economic views are exactly the same as Bush. Our Nation will not surrive another 4 years of the last 8. Governor Palin is a great moose hunter and I will admitt that Obama doesn’t know how to hunt moose. But, I suggest we break up into teams and shoot some hoops and I am thinking the Obama/Biden team will win both the basketball game and the White House. Americans have had enough of the Republican views on economic policy and taking our Nation into a War of choice.

indevoter,
The bailout is a joke! A bad joke on the American people. If Warren Buffet can invest $5B in Goldman Sachs new “bank”, then Goldman Sachs and the rest of the Wall Street gang can come up with more friends to bail them out. Why should American taxpayers have to do it?!
Goldman Sachs stole your investments. Bush regime = Paulson and Cox. Instead of going after these crooks, they sick the FBI on the companies that helped Americans become homeowners.
I think it is time for our state congressional reps to *get the connection between outsourcing/insourcing our jobs and the inability to purchase homes. Paulson is trying to scare us into giving his buddies our hard earned money, but we need to attach a few things to prevent another beg request in the future.
Please contact your state reps and let them know that Wall Street gets no $700B deal unless every H1B visa recipient gets sent home so that Americans can work. There is no worker shortage and the temporary workers do not buy homes or invest in our economy.
We do not have to sit idly bye.
YES WE CAN!

The American news and the world economic crisis is rather scary. We have been hit badly now. The stocks plummeted yesterday , God knows whets happening today.Could one single man or system have brought this upon the world, or was it a serious defect in the financial systems across the world who were in the job of speculations and high risk loans ? I do believe it is the latter. The get rich quick investors are now shedding crocodile tears. Who asked them to buy stocks in the first place. Was there necessity other than greed ? Objectively, a financial system in crisis has a snow ball effect. It hits every aspect of our lives. We all have bad days ahead.
As for the American elections. Whoever wins one thing is clear. The animosity , the sexism in US politics is disgusting . We saw Hillary being pilloried and now Palin is …there has been incomparable negative media publicity of these two women which has really struck me hard.Which candidates are capable is a matter of national interest, surely , but this has gone beyond everything. The denigration, the attempt to pull to pieces , the belittling, the slander, the disparaging reporting on Hillary and Sarah is outrageous and deplorable . No such scorn has been heaped on O , or M or that clown Biden.
THATS my issue.

Berg Filed an Answer Sept. 29th, 2008
(Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania – 09/29/08) – Philip J. Berg, Esquire, the Attorney who filed suit against Barack H. Obama challenging Senator Obama’s lack of “qualifications” to serve as President of the United States, announced today that he filed his Opposition and Brief to Obama and Democratic National Committee [DNC] Joint Motion to Dismiss in the case of Berg v. Obama, No. 08-cv-04083.
Berg feels confident that he has “Standing” and the Court will allow the case to go forward. Our response was due in 14 days, but the Court requested our answer by Monday, September 29, 2008 and we complied.
In our response we set forth sufficient reasons that I have “Standing” to bring this lawsuit. Furthermore, I set forth additional reasons that indicate Obama does not meet the qualifications for President of the United States and Obama should be removed from the ballot and held accountable.
Our website obamacrimes.com has received 17.1 + million hits. We are urging all to spread the word of our website – and forward to your local newspapers and radio and TV stations.
Berg again stressed his position regarding the urgency of this case as, “we” the people, are heading to a “Constitutional Crisis” if this case is not resolved forthwith.
