Two Years of Re-Branding and This Is the Thanks MSNBC Gets?
As my colleague Rick Klein was first to point out, the Obama campaign sent out a text message this afternoon, reading:
"Watch Barack debate John McCain tonight at 9 pm Eastern on CNN. Also, remind friends to register to vote at VoteForChange.com. Please forward this message."
CNN?
It will air everywhere!
What’s the deal?
And why the free promo for CNN?
Fox News, I’m sure, has some ideas…
Just now, I got a new text: "Watch Barack debate John McCain tonight at 9 pm ET on any of the major networks or cable. Fwd this msg & remind friends to register to vote at VoteForChange.com."
In other words: Oops!

Do we also get an ooops on John McCain’s ad today that he won the debate? The debate he wasn’t going to go to?

OBAMA: I think that the way that I’ve been working over the last week, constantly in contact with the secretary and the congressional leaders, um, uh, eh, you know, may end up creating an environment in which you can actually get somethin’ done.
Really Obama? Really?

CNN and MSNBC share similar political views. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. It’s just a matter of fact. CSPAN is by far the best source of political information. Listen carefully and make up your own mind.

Your completely right. I have a order in my head of leaning and neutral. I haven’t watch CBS much though.
Fox – - ABC – - C-Span – - CNN – - MSNBC

Bertha – I’m fascinated that you have a problem with the Annenbergs. They were not only major Republican donors – they have had most Republican presidents to their home (before the death of the head of the family). Ever served on a board? Ever known anybody who did? You don’t spend a lot of time together – you often have to serve with people you barely know and some you can barely stand – and serving on the same board represents absolutely no personal connection whatsoever. What it does usually represent though, is an ability to put personal or political differences aside for the common good.
So let’s play guilt through association. Obama served on a board with Ayers. The association was funded by the Annenbergs. Did the Annenbergs support unrepentant bombing? If the Annenbergs supported Bill Ayers by your logic they did – because they gave him quite a bit of money – almost $50 Million dollars to be exact. Somebody should have told Presidents Nixon, Ford, and Bush.
You also fail to mention that Stanley Kurtz did not stumble on this – Stanley Kurtz set out to create this connection – and it has been refuted over and over. He seems very concerned about Marxism in particular. I am too. Particularly the past two weeks, when I learned that my government, because of gross mismanagement, had bought out 80% of the mortgages in the United States and was planning on buying several banks as well. This is the economy which John McCain’s called “sound” ten days ago. His chief economic advisor said that Americans didn’t have economic problems – they had mental problems. So now the Bush administration, with the help of Phil Gramm and his deregulation (1999) and credit swap bills (2000), have actually turned a free market economy into the greatest welfare/socialist system the world has ever seen. If that isn’t enough – guess who we owe the most money to? Guess who owns 10% of Morgan Stanley? The communist Chinese – who have stepped in while Bush was biking. Welcome to Marxism. You don’t have to go digging through foundation files from 1995.

Yes that’s the debate, the one McDrama Queen didn’t know he was going to do, in spite of the fact that Mississippi had spent over 5 million dollars setting the whole thing up.

What is really amazing is the AD was produced while his campaign was ‘suspended’.

McCain – I won the debate against that young kid. Oh wait what time is it. I got to announce I am going to that debate.
McCain – Loosing his bearings.

I think the CNN piece was left over from the last text which was about the service forum. It was exclusively on CNN. The campaign corrected it by sending out the second.

we all knew the debate would go on anyway , I think McCain just wanted to rattle some people up and he sure did–old Navy trick. Maybe the comrades didnt put the order out to watch on MSNBC because all of the flak its been getting about being the Obama chanel

CSPAN is Owned by CNN (timewarner) and NBC (GE) they pay for it!

Only difference I can tell is that CNN will broadcast in HD. For people who care about appearances there will be contrast between Obama’s youthful looks and McCain’s time ravaged skin–this contrast can work in either one’s advantage.

However a Dem or a Republican spins it. This is not the first time a Bailout/Rescue has occured. The Bottom line is that it sucks that it is in an election year. Dems/Republicans are going to posture 50/50 on this issue. I will say, however that the least genuine intention for their actions over the past 2 days have been from Mccain, Im a republican, and I am utterly ashamed of the fact that this bill has a “trickle down” economic effect that John Mccain Romanticized Ronald Reagan economics could ever dream of. Oops, but it is only in a negative way. John Mccain nor Barack Obama have been active in this area for the past 8 months. Both had no impact on the discussions yesterday, it was for symbolism only that Bush invited them there. You are kidding yourselves if you think anything different. Primarily I want them to debate the issue in front of us on National TV that is where we will truly see who understands this. This bailout needs to happen cus. 75% of our largest employers and 80%of our small employers borrow their payroll from a financial institution, if those institutions are not solvent then those employees don’t get paid, if they don’t get paid then they don’t consume, if they don’t consume then whatever or wherever you are getting the funds to pay the electric bill that allows us to run the computers on which we are blogging, we soon will not be able to afford. There was nothing funny about that bill accept a lot of middle aged affluent males trying to take credit for ego alone. Get this bill out and get it done, because on the first of the month if its not done, the world will be worse for the wear.

Just to let you know that the trolls are out. People are debating which news network is more bias. (Submit to the spin). C-Span is neutral because besides the occasional Boring commentator they rarely have commercials and cover the actual Debate without poll masters or political theorist. The just take calls and talk facts. Too much substance for some people you need to be fed information like baby birds.

Ex replican. If you do that, you will do it at a considerable loss. Its kind of like trying to catch a plane that has already left the gate. if you switch now you will be left behind. Recovery is imminent. One good thing for us in this situation is that everybodies money is at stake, theyve got to get it done. Where did Joe Kennedy make his fortune “Depression”, where did Rockefellar jr. grow his holdings, during that time. During the Depression. Everything is undervalued in the American market place right now, look to buy at the end of december if you are a mutual fund guy, or look for value stocks in the US Market. Hint Hint. Believe me Im good at this.

I also thought it was on CNN only until today or yesterday…
Something got messed up with the promotion of this all around…

CNN is in the tank for Obama as much as MSNBC, they just try to pretend they’re not whereas MSNBC doesn’t even bother anymore.
I remember the first night that Fox aired the Reverend Wright tapes. Anderson Cooper also aired a few of the tapes, then came on and APOLOGIZED for having to air them, calling them “less than newsworthy”. I knew then that I would never watch CNN again for election news, as it is not the media’s job to determine what is or is not newsworthy. It’s their job to present the public with all the facts, and let the public themselves decide what is newsworthy. The media bias toward Senator Obama in this election is criminal.

This wasn’t a promo of CNN, per se.
More than other channels, CNN has been airing live just about everything political.
It’s that simple!

I am writing in Congressman Ron Paul in Massachusetts. I’m disgusted. The Congress, and Executive branch along with the media should be put on trial as criminals and conspirators.
Enough of this communism – having taxpayers bailout the fat cats. Hell no!

MSNBC: The station for losers!! This group of assorted nuts is ALWAYS on the bottom of the ratings list. They are knuckle dragging, mouth breathing cretins who can’t hide their adoration for Barack Hussein Obama and his Socialist Agenda. Good luck, losers!
