Watching Fred . . .
You can see when Fred Thompson was once seen as the great conservative hope. The guy is good when he brings it. And he brought it for his friend tonight.
He also, by the way, brought the red meat — few people can make liberals seem ridiculous the way Fred Thompson can.
That was an emotional speech, a compelling way to tie John McCain’s biography to his vision. That was the sound of a convention hitting its groove.

Word has leaked that Sarah Pawlenty (Palin) will drop out before her speech.
Can any Repug source please confirm?
McCain is toast.

I always wonder why Obama has no character witnesses…..granny, Rev. Wright, Rezko, Ayers?….only Michelle, and half sister. His drug thugs from his college days refuse to be interviewed and faces were blurred on a bio I saw on either FOX or CNN. Really who had known him for years and can speak to his character. His own mom died alone in a hospital and they had not spoken in 2 years, so even SHE wouldn’t have been able to speak on his behalf.
Thank God, JM is a man of integrity and qualified to lead this country. Bozo….not so much.
Fred’s doing a good job…anxious to hear Lieberman

ABC has shown their position on the issues. They are afraid to air Fred Thompson’s speach because they didn’t like what he said. I quess they want a crack addict to lead or country, instead of a brave American like the young men and women who are fighting the war on terror abroad so we don’t have to fight at home.

James…..the first 3 night of Dem convention there WAS NOTHING STATING WHAT THEY WERE GOING TO DO FOR THE COUNTRY….ONLY BILL CLINTON ADDRESSED THAT. IT WAS A PUMP OBAMA UP LOVE FEST AND BASH McCAIN FIRST THREE DAYS OF CONVENTION. WE REPUBLICANS HAVE 25% LESS TIME AT OUR CONVENTION….SO SHUT UP.
Posted by: Debra | September 2, 2008, 10:32 pm 10:32 pm
I am watching the speech and it ios all trashing and no distinction on the issues. No wonder Fred Thompson lost his bid
Posted by: James | September 2, 2008, 10:33 pm 10:33 pm
He is just rambling on and on about McCain’s miltary record, how he comes from a military family, how we need a “military leader like John McCain”.
I am sick of republicans defining America in terms of its military. And all this “Put Country First” bombasting. If they believed that, they would not have put Iraq first and sent 4,151 of our kids to their deaths.
Posted by: clifton | September 2, 2008, 10:34 pm 10:34 pm
I understand they have a few days to discuss the issues on where they are different than the dems. I have not heard anything on social security, substance on the economy, health care real blue collar issues…

Friggin fizzle of a Gustav storm screwed up the Republican convention and made them shuffle the speakers, many top Reps. not able to be there due to the hurricane that wasn’t….but by next week, it won’t matter in the polls and McCain/Palin numbers will be up.

Of course Fred is going to say nice things about the ticket. Palin is his type of woman. When he was senator he spent all his time in Washington chasing young women around, even married one.

An episode of Law and Order has more substance and excitment then his speech, who praised Reagan as supposed to a republican seating president. This fall from the prodcuers that brought you 8 years of BS, comes a story of a man who sold his sold to the neocons. If you liked the previous 8 years get ready cause you have seen nothing yet!

That is the most partisan speech I have ever heard. No praise about Barack Obama. At least the Democrats praised Mccain. Meanwhile, they just lied about taxes and once again that pay grade answer shows many Americans dont understand that answer. I blame Obama because ninety-five percent definitely did not understand Obama. What Obama meant was that it is only God that can decide when conception occurs but expect the spin from that answer to continue.Obama needs to become simplicit and explicit in his answers.

Did you see the crowd? They looked half asleep. And, I think I saw people leaving during the detailed POW talk. I guess because I’m not a McCain supporter, it was boring. He did have a couple good lines (similar to the 5 million dollar middle class use). I still don’t buy Beauty and the Beast ticket. Old ways will not work for the future. Republicans didn’t want McCain in 2000 and they chose Bush. Why choose him now? If Palin’s executive experience is so great, then why isn’t she going to be President? People that are blind enough to believe in Creationsim should probably not be in office (Palin). Just my opinion.

fairelection2008—yes he will have plenty of money obama will not give away so much to big business he will stop spending so much on our military he will make the rich and big business pay there fair share…and as far as universal health care it will be cheaper to make sure everybody has insurance then it is now.how you ask? now so many people go to emergency room because they dont have insurance well that bill comes they cant pay so the hospital spreads that cost out to all that have insurance and at years end they write off the unpaid amounts on there state and federal taxes.–my brothers brother-in-law works for our local hospital in a town of 20,000 they write off 10,000,000 a year in non payments. that is one small little hospital. do you see why a national health care would be cheaper.
Posted by: tom | September 2, 2008, 11:14 pm 11:14 pm
fairelection—there is 151 nations in the world, the united states spends more on just its military then any other nation spends for total budget. that is digusting… one republican had it right ron paul said we should bring home all our military he said ww2 is over our troops can come home from germany now.and we should close all our non- u.s.a. military bases if those nations want us there to protect them they can pay us if we are going to be the world police force we should be getting paid.
Posted by: tom | September 2, 2008, 11:18 pm 11:18 pm
Country first? With that VP pick? All this talk about 20 months of executive experience is way over-rated & McCain doesn’t even have that. Boasting Palin’s qualifications over Obama’s is just absurd & so is bashing Obama for not having foreign policy experience. Isn’t he a member of the foreign relations commitee? The same commitee that leads foreign policy legislation and debate in the Senate? He is on the Homeland Secuirty commitee & the veterans affairs commitee. If I recall, Obama met recenlty with leaders from England, France, Germany, Iraq, Afghanistan, Jordan & Isreal. I thought I saw him deliver a speech to 200,000 Europeans. McCain and Bush are now following Obama’s lead regarding Iraq & Afghanistan troop numbers and time tables for withdraw. Iraq has favored Obama’s plan for withdraw. This whole McCain/Palin thing just doesn’t make any sense. God help us.

Hey, John McCain. You may have blinked in and out of consciousness while being a quality hero in Viet Nam. But that does not make you the qualifier for the next president. It seems you are still blinking in and out when it comes to the economy, drilling, Iraq, and not coming true on your plans for more tax breaks to corporations.
Posted by: Edward Johnson | September 2, 2008, 11:50 pm 11:50 pm
it was a great speech. I like especially about the tax. It’s unbelievable that these liberals still don’t understand what Thompson was talking about. So let’s tax the businesses and not the people. Where do businesses make up for the tax they pay, charge higher price. Who pay for these price, the consumers. Instead of the boss working 5 hours a day and hire workers for the rest, the boss now will work 12 hours a day and lay off the workers to save money to pay taxes. Idiot liberals!!! All the channels, CNN, MSNBC really have a field day today. They have 90% of liberal commentators trashing the speech and also Liebermann and picking non-issue to talk about (only old white men party but then criticizing Palin on her pregnant teenage and her husban 20 years ago got a DUI..hmm…if I remember correctly Obama used cocaine). If Obama wins this election, American media are too doomed and this country has no brain of its own except listening to these media biased.

The pregnancy of Bristol Palin brings forth an array of issues. To start with, it’s nice that Bristol will keep the baby and supposedly marry the father. But consider this for a second, there would be some pregnant teens
who would NOT want to go forward with the pregnancy. Sarah, what do you say to those teens? Put them in jails after you become VP as you and McCain will likely over-turn Row V Wade? What about the fact that other religions, like Islam, preaches that you bear child only if you can afford to take full care of them. So abortion, in this context, is fully vetted by the newest of biblical religion. What about the fact that, my wife being a very protective parent, does not want me to buy a handgun? She is afraid that it might fall in their hands at the wrong time in their life and they might act stupid. What about the fact that a father myself, I would want my daughter to be safe and practice safety before anything in life. Abstinence will definitely be taught and strongly urged, but in those “what if” moment, will I be able to excuse myself if my daughter is in the same situation as Bristol? What if Bristol became HIV positive after having sex with the other teen? Could you have excused yourself, Sarah?
