Web Site With Speeches and Sermons From Palin’s Former Church Shuts Down as Religious Views of Candidate Face Scrutiny
Officials of Gov. Sarah Palin’s former church, Wasilla Assembly of God, in Alaska, shut down part of their Web site Wednesday, stating that their server could not handle the higher-than-normal traffic.
The part of the Web site no longer functioning appears to be the section where the sermons of senior Pastor Ed Kalnins were available, including one from 2004 — after Palin left the church — where he suggested heaven wasn’t necessarily in the cards for anyone who voted for Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass.
Also no longer available is the video of a speech Palin delivered in June at the graduation service for the church’s School of Ministry.
"WasillaAG.net was never intended to handle the traffic it has received in the last few days," says a message on the church Web site. "Due to technical limitations, WasillaAG.net will be unavailable for the immediate future."
Palin attended Wasilla Assembly of God from her teenage years through 2002. She and her family now attend Wasilla Bible Church.
Srutiny of Palin, ever since she was named Sen. John McCain’s vice presidential running mate last Friday, has brought attention to all aspects of her biography.
"We have had some inquires into Gov. Palin’s beliefs," a statement from Wasilla Assembly of God reads. "We do know that Gov. Palin is a woman of integrity. She is a servant of the people, she is a strong leader. As for her personal beliefs, Gov. Palin is well able to speak for herself on those issues.
"As Alaskans, we are excited about our governor being selected as the nominee for vice president," the statement continues. "As residents of Wasilla, we are ecstatic about one of our own being thrust to the national forefront. However, as a church, it is not appropriate for us to endorse any one candidate over another."
The Book of First Timothy, the church says, "tells us pray for those in authority. This we will do, no matter who is elected. We wish the best to Gov. Palin, and Sen. McCain, as well as to Sen. Obama and Sen. Biden."
Some of the video of Palin speaking at the Wasilla Assembly of God commencement address was recently posted at the liberal Huffington Post.
The governor is shown speaking comfortably about her faith in Jesus Christ.
"It was so cool growing up in this church and getting saved here," the governor says, "getting baptized by Pastor (Paul) Riley."
Palin asked the congregation to "pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task that is from God. That’s what we have to make sure that we’re praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God’s plan."
The Huffington Post described this as Palin "paint(ing) the current war in Iraq as a messianic affair in which the United States could act out the will of the Lord," which McCain-Palin spokesman Michael Goldfarb calls "a distortion of what she was saying."
"She very clearly was saying that she’s praying for military men and women to do what’s right," Goldfarb says. "Every religious American prays that what the U.S. is doing in Iraq is something that is a righteous act."
Religious Americans regularly pray that acts they take are the correct, or righteous ones, Goldfarb said, arguing that was what Palin meant by her remarks.
Palin’s current church has also undergone scrutiny.
The Politico’s Ben Smith reported that Palin was present for an Aug. 17 sermon by David Brickner, an activist for the missionary group "Jews for Jesus," considered quite controversial among many American Jews. The Anti-Defamation League of B’nai Brith has criticized Brickner for "targeting Jews for conversion with subterfuge and deception."
Brickner in his sermon described terrorist attacks on Israelis as part of "an ongoing reflection of the fact that there is judgment" by God of those who have not accepted Jesus as their savior.
"When Jesus was standing in that temple, He spoke that that judgment was coming, that there’s a reality to the judgment of unbelief. … Judgment is very real and we see it played out on the pages of the newspapers and on the television. It’s very real."
Brickner described when his son Isaac recently "was in Jerusalem, he was there to witness some of that judgment, some of that conflict, when a Palestinian from East Jerusalem took a bulldozer and went plowing through a score of cars, killing numbers of people. Judgment — you can’t miss it. "
Goldfarb said that Brickner "was a guest at the church, who Gov. Palin did not know would be speaking, and she does not share the views he expressed. She and her family would not have been sitting in the pews of the church if those remarks were remotely typical."
Earlier this year, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., went through some tough questions about his now-former church, Trinity United Church of Christ, and his former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who made many controversial comments from his pulpit. Faced with intense scrutiny of his church, pastor, and those offering guest sermons, Obama resigned from his church at the end of May.
"If the Obama campaign wants to have a debate about who was in church for what sermon," Goldfarb told ABC News, "that’s not an argument we’re going to shy away from."

Funny that the media wasn’t interested in scrutinizing Obama’s and Rev. Wright’s Trinity Church. Or Obama’s links to a homegrown terrorist. Or his reciprocal relationship with a slumlord. In fact, they still aren’t interested in pursuing any of these leads. Yet they’re all over Sarah Palin and her family. Why does any reasonable person think that is?

Send in the cleaners. And I wonder when young Mr. Johnston found out he was getting married.. probably the same time as everyone else. Especially since he claimed on his MySpace page to not want any children. That’s also been shut down, and I bet they give him a nice shave and haircut to go with a new suit when he shows up in St. Paul. Its all damage control now for the party of the f’n rednecks.
As an Illinois Republican who doesn’t have much to be proud of here besides Peter Roskam and Mark Kirk, now the national party continues its slide into further embarrassment and ridicule.

So FoxNews covers Rev Wright 24/7 for a month.
A blip story about
RW reaction? Where are the Wright stories! Why won’t the media cover this?
You want to know why?
Political amnesia is a necessary components to being a right winger.
You have to forget the horrible things you did and extoll the recent good things.
Examples.
McCain touts his wife Cindy, pretends 1st wife does not exist.
Bush brings every resource to bear for Gustav and Republicans pat themselves on the back for not repeating Katrina.
McCain votes for a war based on a lie. Touts his support on a later specific war policy to claim we are winning a war we should have never fought.
RWer call Hillary the most horrible names for 15 years. 3 months into Dem primary, Hillary is venerated by the right wing.
McCain campaign for months hammers Obama on his experience. Then they pick a neopyhte unknown gov from a small state….rwers tout her executive experience!
And just last night, to get them to boo Obama, Joementum got them to simultaneously cheer Bill Clinton.
At least I hope its political amnesia because otherwise it just means right wingers are craven people who are practically sociopaths.

Bring it on! Would love to hear R.wright’s and pflegher’s words splashed all over the airwaves again! The media are such hypocrites – why did they not vet BHO concerning his church should be the headlines. I see nothing controversial that affects Sarah Palin from what is quoted above. If what was said years ago did not anger the far-left then, then in Heaven’s name why is it bothering them now!!! At least she did not sit in a place of worship for 20 years listening to all that racial and anti-american filth. Nor was she married and her kids baptised there. Her good judgement far exceeds that of BHO. So bring it on, obamafans! I just love it how scared you are of a savvy VP pick. Ya’ll should have gone with Hillary – sorry, too late! BHO outwitted himself this time! LOL! Love Hillary, but the Dems have lost me – at least this time around, and nothing will bring me back!

The McCain campaign seems paranoid about the Obama campaign and the media. Do they have any proof that all this is coming from Obama’s people? For having delt with the Reverend Wright controversy, he would have to be really stupid to be pushing a story like this one. Which proves to me that the McCain people are starting to act out irrational since they cannot even decide who to blame for the lack of judgement from their candidate.

The media’s effort to destroy Palin will only backfire. NYT, Wapo, ABCnews, MSNBC, one by one rolled out stories about how she was not a reformer, how she got federal funding for her town — but, there is one book already out titled “Sarah, how a hockey mom turned Alaska upside down.” This is the book that people will sit down to read, get a full account of everything.
Media’s bias is to apparent that a lot of my friends do not even trust their stories any more. After she comes out talking, more people will be convinced that she is a real person with real heart. She does and walks what she believes in. That is the character that people admire.
Just one question. Biden, Obama’s VP, is known for plagiarizing, he was caught in his law school plagiarizing, which is still on his academic record. he was caught again plagiarizing during his first presidential bid. How many stories about that are in newspaper.
As to the church thing, why Palin’s church, already her former church got so much attention, but Obama’s church (to me, is much more offensive) was not reported on until 6 month into his campaign? The more the media talks about Palin’s church, the more people will be reminded about Obama’s church.
Posted by: amy | September 3, 2008, 1:27 pm 1:27 pm
She is a religious fanatic who courted (and her husband was a member of) a group that wants Alaska to secede from the U.S. THAT is a disqualifier in my book to even remotely THINK about being VP. The Reps went after Obama with a vengence for something as trivial as not wearing a lapel pin, yet someone who wants Alaska to secede from the U.S. and hates the U.S. is second in line to be Commander in Chief of the armed forces? And a former P.O.W. picked this unpatriotic person to be his VP? Are you freakin’ kidding me?! America should be outraged! She is a nutjob, and anyone who votes for McCain/Palin is a nutjob.

I’m sorry, but the Republicans had no problem smearing Obama (and everyone who attended his church) over the Rev. Wright comments. We now have similar comments/issues from Palin’s church, and it is off limits? Personally, I don’t think anyone should be held responsible for things their pastor says, or for every visitor that speaks at their church. But I want the Republicans to fess up now to their hypocracy: does this matter only when it is a Democratic candidate, or does it only matter when it’s a black candidate?

Posted by: dl | September 3, 2008, 1:34 pm 1:34 pm
“free at last, free at last, thank god almighty I am free at least.” I think a few people have said that. Almost as if they believed their god gave them freedom. many also believe that their god wants all people to be free. Thats what Palin was talking about in the commencement speech, not that we are on a mission from god (though interesting enough thats what our enemies say). Not to mention some people believe their god controls all actions, its just chalked up to “God’s will”.
And no Palin being in attendance at 1 speech at a church she has already left, is not the same as Obama attending a church for 20 years where hate and antisemitism was preached by a man Obama considered his spiritual advisor and a teacher.
I agree with Goldbarb, if thats the debate Obama wants they’ll be more then happy to have it.

Sarah Palin fires up the conservative and evangelical base and she attracts female swing voters and hardcore Hillary supporters out to wreck things fo the Democrats. Repubs know they don’t have to get many Hillary supporters. A few percentage points will make the difference. No wonder the Obamabots and their conspirators in the MSM are going after Palin so visciously. The nastiness of the attacks is indicative of their fear.

Wow, the MSM will go to any lenght to dig up dirt on Palin, even if it’s unfounded. The double standard here is glaring and the media risks real damage her by appearing to lose all objectivity in this campaign. The MSM is so in bed with Obama they don’t even seem to care about being blatantly biased any more. I used to be a Democrat until this year, and now I can see why so many others have left the party over the years.

Posted by: george | September 3, 2008, 1:37 pm 1:37 pm
My father literally built this “controversial” church. We attended it for years, and the media really had to dig to find some dirt. The church is NOT political, but I am certain that errors from the pulpit occurred. You cannot compare the hatefulness of Obama’s church with Wasilla AOG. Pastor Riley (who has been retired for a very long time) was Sarah’s pastor for years, and he was a just, honest, level-headed man. Besides, Sarah used her judgement, and moved to another church when she disagreed with the church leadership, not when the media convinced her it would be politically expedient. But, like most things, liberals are too blind to the truth to understand the difference between the hate of Black Liberation Theology and genuine religious convictions.

This is nothing compared to the freak show that played in Obama’s church for 20 years. Since some seem to have forgotten “evil white people” and “chickens coming home to roost” and “US of KKK,” perhaps a comparitive religion piece is in order. I don’t doubt that most Americans will find Palin’s church much more mainstream than the extremely bigoted and anti-american fare served at the church that the Obamas attended for years.

The media is out of control. I can wait a few days for Palin to speak and then make up my mind. The fact that she is not bowing down to the media seems to be upsetting the cart of good old boys. Watch out men, she’ll fire you.

“Palin was only introduced to the media about 5 days ago. why is it ok for Obama not to speak to press for about 3 weeks,”
Obama went on vacation for a week and since then Obama has been speaking to the press. He will sit down with O’Reilly on Thurs. McCain ran away from Larry King because Samantha Brown humiliated one of his spox.
BTW, you don’t think its important that people get to know Palin through press interviews before she is nominated to be VP?

The woman’s a right wing religious nut. That is becoming more apparent by the day. As the Republicans desperately try to keep the lid on this train wreck which is turning the GOP and McCain into laughingstocks they are desperately trying to bury the evidence. Apparently today Palin is no longer cooperating with the Alaska senate investigation of the Trooper firing although she previously committed to and in a truly Alice in Wonderland move actually filed an ethics charge against herself……..with a friendly group of her own appointees of course. Personally the longer this goes on the more I like it as she is dragging the GOP to destruction.

This is excerpts from Palin’s church speech. directly from Huffington post – the Obama post:
Read for yourself:
“Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task that is from God,” she exhorted the congregants. “That’s what we have to make sure that we’re praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God’s plan.”

Palin tonight is going to read a speech written by someone else.
She has not answered any questions on her own and now the McCain campaign is saying the background checks by the news media “will stop!”
this from the campaign that freakin when asked about her travel abroad went and lied making it sound like Palin had gone on a separate trip to Ireland…(it was refueling on the way back from her one trip to Iraq…ugh)
the Mccain campaign knows the Palin choice is the hole in the bottom of the boat and they are doing everything to close it…
including not letting the media do their job and look into her background as they have done with every freakin candidate out there.
Palin is a bad choice…and they didn’t vet her and now they are going to say the facts aren’t the facts to cover how bad of a leader this campaign is.

Heck with her former Church- the present one where she sat two weeks ago and listened to a speaker declare that palestinian terrorist attacks on Israel are manifestation of God’s judgment for the non-belief of Jews in Jesus- now that’s going to get months of play right, just like they did with the former pastor WRight?

Dl,
Most things in the Palin story have turned out to be false.
Commander in Chief experience with National Guard? Nope.
Against the Bridge to Nowhere – for it before she agin it and she kept the earmark money.
Against earmarks? Nope had a list of $200M for Ted Stevens just 6 months ago.
Reformer? Extension ties to Ted Stevens, only throwing him under the bus when he got indicted.
Even their description of the vetting process has been rife with lies.

I guess that is why Joe got only 1% in Iowa. Even Joe Biden is going around admitting he doesn’t want to be VP (between his gaffes of referring to himself as running for President)
Obama’s judgment was that Biden the 36-year Senate paperweight was better than a woman who got 18 mliiion votes.

I tend to agree that Palin’s “God’s plan” comment doesn’t have any messianic implications. What’s more disturbing is that it’s been reported that her pastor has made some extremely inflammatory comments. One of them reportedly was that people who voted for John Kerry in 2004 would go to hell.
Isn’t that exactly as bad as Rev. Wright’s “God d*** America” comment? Or maybe it’s worse, since America is a society and couldn’t suffer the eternal torment that real live Americans who voted for Kerry would, if this guys theology is correct.

“If McCain is afraid of our domestic press how will he handle the world?”
Last weekend I watched two park rangers poke sticks at a copperhead curled up inside a log outside our cabin door. The snake being smarter than the rangers pulled further into the log. Of course, we spent the day with the snake because it was smart enough to withdraw and I wasn’t stupid enough to push my hand into the log and the rangers weren’t patient enough to wait for sundown.
McCain is handling the press like I handle the snake in the log. As long as it keeps its distance, it gets to live another day. If it comes out at sunset, it gets to meet the business end of Mr. Hoe.
How will he handle the world? Like the snake that it is on some days, and like the park rangers on others.

I am always amaze at how people could be so hypocritical in their assessment of life. It appears as if there is a double standard scale that is used to weigh decisions and judgments of these presidential candidates. Isn’t it funny how some people have the gall to imply that Obama is an empty suit. A man that wrote two best-selling books and graduated at the top of his class at Harvard which is no small feat and not for the “empty headed.” It appears that Obama is criticized for being a community leader for twenty years but Sarah Palin is applauded for being on the PTA board. This experience is considered legitimate however, Obama experience is mocked. Many come and proclaim Sarah Palin has experience as a Mayor over a small town and overlook Obama experience as a senator from Illinois for eight years. It is not even considered in the equation of evaluation on the “experience” thermometer. It is also interesting to note that Obama can be berated and mocked continually and rumors about him being a Muslim is forever spreaded in spite of facts otherwise…and yet when questions are put forward about Sarah the old gender card is played. So, is it safe to assume that if Sarah can not be critique due to her gender…shall we be fair and apply that same ruler to Obama…Let’s say that each and every time a question emerges about Obama experience..shall we holler “racism?” You can not have it both ways. If the gender card is going to be played..then let’s bring out the race deck for it has been dealt since Obama first ran as quiet as it is kept…the old elephant in the room that we keep pretending has no relevance. I only wish America was that advanced..but it is not.

Hey, you people bringing up Rev Wright, don’t you realize that was shoved down our throat for months. Did any of you read his sermons? He was speaking out against perceived injustices to the Black Community. The “chickens coming home to roast” was actually a quote from a former US ambassador to the UN who was commenting on how America’s foreign policy in the middle east created blow back that strengthened fundamentalist groups like Al Queada. Maybe if you knew anything about the US’s history in the region you might understand why we are so hated. They do not hate our freedom and our culture, they hate what we have done abroad. Maybe you heard of the US giving Saddam weapons or training Bin Laden or supporting a dictator in Iran. No? Now don’t think I am excusing 9/11 because those attacks are just despicable and those that did that are hateful evil people. However, if you suggest that US actions in the middle east does not attribute to anti-americanism that terrorists thrive off then you are delusional. Everyone in the world knew that eventually someone would strike out back against us but such an acknowledgment in the US is unpatriotic. Guess what I realize America made mistakes and I love America so much that I want to question and criticize our leaders so that we can truly live up to our own principles. Like John Kerry said, “Yeah my country right or wrong, but when wrong make it right”. isn’t that what this election is about making right the mistakes of the last 8 years

We are no longer the Economic Leaders.

We are no longer one race.
Like it or not. Terrorists don’t care. Strength is in numbers.
Where do we have so much time to focus on scandal even before the prestigious debate for the public position is held??
If you hate each other, don’t call yourselves American – b/c it is still the UNITEd States!!! If we don’t wise up – our foreign allies will have the proof they need to lean elsewhere.

I think it’s funny that the libs are so desperate that they’re trying to compare Palin’s former – by six years – conservative small-town church to Obama’s race-hate, Farrakhan-following Wright whom Obambi couldn’t, then did, throw under the bus with his grandmother.
Maybe Wright can get his book out in October.

Babies are not issues. Children are not issues, and the media has no right to demand paternity test to see if your child is really yours. You folks are making America sick to their stomach and losing this election for Barack Obama.
From your dummy polls with baited audience to the horrid attacks of the past few days. The media is scared their golden child, fools gold, is losing and thus they have taken a line that ensures loss.

You are right, we do deserve a candidate who tells the truth. Now, when can we expect those “non-nuanced” answers from Sen. Obama?
To alwaysquestion:
If you understood anything about Christianity you would know that Christians do not have any intent to “bring about” end-time prophesy. We don’t have to. It’s coming. We are only instructed to prepare spiritually and share salvation with any who will listen.

Liberals are finding themselves critical of Sarah…. a woman’s choice to raise children and earn a living, calling it bad parenting. Maybe it is because the Dem’s have no one like Sarah. Has anybody ever asked Barry can he bring up his two kids and be president of the United States? If Sarah was a Dem none of this would be an issue. Where are the Feminist? You can not have it both ways. Where are the Feminist? Stop the sexism

Who are these crazy people who are suggesting the media is on Obama’s side? I stopped watching cable news after several weeks of non-stop Reverend Wright coverage.
Obama has taken the hits and now voters can make an informed choice. As Palin is new to the national stage she has to be thoroughly vetted by the media and the people too.

Hmm its funny.
Obama is ranked as the most liberal Senator for 2007 when he missed quite a few votes that are part of the review. He was not as liberal in 2006.
John McCain missed so many votes they did not even have enough to calculate his rating.

It’s about anything but issues. I don’t care about anything in her life except what her positions are on taxes, the wars, privacy, etc. and what she plans to do if elected. Her personal life, that of her family, her religious convictions, her advisers – all NOT RELEVANT unless she chooses to make them so. Since she has publicly spoken out, for example, against sex education, it seems legitimate to ask her to explain why her daughter wasn’t educated at home to teach her about how people get pregnant. Since, I have no doubt (although I don’t know it for sure) has criticized Obama’s church or his wife, she should expect nothing less about her issues. Republicans seem to think they can defame and smear without consequence. It’s bad enough that their leader, the so-called president, has betrayed his oath of office. Now they’re trying to convince us that the old guy they are running to replace him will change course and make things better – but wait, how can they perfect perfection? Oh, why bother. McCain’s campaign manager said that the election (in his little mind) will not be about issues; it will be about personality. That’s the real difference between Republics and Democrats. Democrats think that by working at it, government can help. Republics don’t think government matters.

I will only watch Foxnews because it’s the only place you can get equal and fair coverage of the campaigns.
I’m not alone, because foxnews is consistently the number one news organization on cable. CNN and MSNBC’s numbers are so low it’s laughable, yet they still haven’t caught on because they are still fawning over empty suit Obama. The joke will be on them in Nov.

CJCrane–I don’t know where you get your statistics but we are a military family and my husbands base is pro-McCain. He is a war hero and they trust his judgement more than Obama, who has no experience with the military and was against the surge, which is working. We are winning in Iraq. You probably don’t know that because liberals like you watch CNN, MSNBC and huffington post. The fact that Anbar region (most violent in Iraq, we lost over 1,000 men there) was a hotbed for terrorist and has now been handed over to the Iraq police wasn’t even reported. The parade the iraqi’s had to celebrate was peaceful and our soldiers were in it and did not even have to carry a weapon.
Our military thinks they have our support for the good deeds they are doing in Iraq and Afganistan and to come home to hear such slander against them is very hurtful to them. They know it’s all coming from the liberal base. Overwhelmingly, they want to stay and finish the fine job they are doing there.

“I don’t know where you get your statistics”
The statistics are taken from FEC donations records vs your small little world of right wingers
Obama gets more money from servicemen and women than any Presidential candidates grabbing some 57% of the total money given to Prez candidates.
And that is when the GOP has received a majority of total political donations.
Obama also gets 6 times as much money as McCain from servicemen and women who were serving overseas at the time of their donation.
Even Ron Paul got more money from the military than John McCain.
I guess they don’t like McCain’s policy of wars based on lies.

The Program on International Policy Attitudes at the University of Maryland conducted a thorough study of public knowledge and attitudes about current events and the war on terrorism. Researchers found that the public’s mistaken impressions of three facets of U.S. foreign policy — discovery of alleged WMD in Iraq, alleged Iraqi involvement in 9/11, and international support for a U.S. invasion of Iraq — helped fuel support for the war.

But between this and her belonging to a separatist movement that says they hate America and it’s flag? Yeah. Karmically high-sterical.

Sarah Palin’s daughter’s pregnancy is “a private matter,” we’ve been told. But ladies, if you get raped or are a victim of incest and become pregnant, Sarah Palin does not want that to be a private matter for you. She believes the government has the right to tell you exactly what to do.
Sarah Palin is going to make the decision for you — you’re having that baby. No exceptions. Even if your health or your life are threatened. Meanwhile, lay off her daughter’s pregnancy… “That’s a private matter.”

Sara Palin is just the gift that keeps on giving, and giving, and giving. She’s like a broken faucet, and all you hear is drip, drip, drip here comes another controversy. This is really good stuff. Keep it coming. The media should not punk out and back off this story like they always do when they get criticized even though they are doing there jobs. Barack Obama was put through the grinder, so was Hillary Clinton. Any individual who stands to be a heartbeat away, or who stands to be the President of the United States has to have the press rummaged through their life. If this person and her husband are members of a party (the Alaskan Independence Party) that want to secede from the Union the public needs to know, if this person abuses her power of office, the public needs to know, if this person believes that the war in Iraq is a war on God’s behalf, the public needs to know. Hey Media grow a spine, stop slithering at the first sign of criticism – Your job is to expose the truth about all those who seek elected office who will have tremendous impact on the lives of all Americans. Media grow a spine and post this, unless we live in Russia now!

So last Saturday morning, I really felt sick. I thought, this is so crazy…how could McCain pick this woman? Doesn’t he understand that she’s basically running for president (especially because he is so old and has serious health problems)? Americans and people all over the world are concerned about security and nuclear weapons. Barack Obama has made a case for himself for nearly two years. We have gotten to know him (I have met him personally) and he is truly a good human being who wants to improve our country and our relations with other nations. I have absolute confidence that he will use sound judgement and do what is in the best interest of our country and even the global community. Sarah Palin is a joke and even MANY Republicans know it.
If I were a Republican now (I usde to be a registered Republican), I would be furious with John McCain and his campaign. This is an embarassing decision and there’s no way out for him. She will resign by the end of this week, but the damage is done. John McCain has proven that he makes poor decisions that could jepordize our national security. McCain/Palin – what a sad joke.

Sarah Palin was an EXCELLENT pick for VP, and will do an outstanding job. Thank you, leftwing nutjob media for fueling the backlash of ‘flyover’ America. We’re getting a bit of tired of being told we are ‘bitter’ and ignorant and unable to do anything—when in fact we are the heart and soul of this great nation. The tale will be told in full on November 4th.
Search on, leftwing media…but I guarantee you that you will NOT find Palin assiocating with a church or a ‘pastor’ that is an anti-american racist. No Rev. Wrights will be found in her closet.
Obama is a zero.

I watched the Palin video in which she addressed the graduating class of her church’s School of Ministry. In it Palin says several times that Alaska will be a refuge and that they all have to prepare for Alaska to be a refuge. Is Palin speaking of the Apocalypse? The “Rapture”? The time when Jesus Christ returns to the earth and the world ends? The time when Christians go to heaven and the nonbelievers go to hell? I hope someone who knows about these things would have a look at the video and tell us if this is, indeed, what she is saying.
Posted by: daisy jones | September 4, 2008, 2:23 am 2:23 am
Anyone upset about that video needs to sit down and think about things. That older pastor was obviously a kind old fellow, almost got teared up. And by some of the posts left here, I can see why people might seek refuge in Alaska.
We should pray for all number of things, including right conduct by our armed forces protecting us, and to be agents of God’s plan for our nation, and to be aided in apprehending that will truly.

‘Book of First Timothy’? What on earth…
That would be, actually, the First Epistle to Timothy, for anyone with a little theological knowledge.
Here are some more quotes from I Timothy:
“2.11. Woman, learn in silence, in complete submission.”
“2.12. I do not permit a woman to teach, nor to reign over a man, but to remain in silence.”
“3.2 …the leader must be a blameless man, the husband of one wife.”
Perhaps this was a coded message!

It’s amazing how quickly Rove wrote this speech! He’s so busy now days with Fox news and his smear tour that finding the time must be a stretch..It must be a new mixture of the KoolAide supplement!
IF this dweeb from AK has a clue, a SINGLE clue, what shes getting herself into with the likes of the Republican smear machine she’ll run away as fast as she can…or be eaten alive and tossed aside like the rest of the non-insiders.
She has no plan, no experience in world affairs, no plan other than Newt’s on energy, no plan for education other than what Dobson tells her, no plan on health care, and no plan to re-build the country’s infrastructure. IF the republicans want to run on the issues rather than a beauty contest the game is over, but the media still seems to be dwelling on the money teet where they’re comfortable with no accountability.
If anyone looks past the smoke and mirrors and thinks of the implications these lunatics can have over our lives for generations, maybe centuries by appointing three judges on the Supreme Court to overturn most of laws from the last 50-80 years then they may think twice. But Rove is counting on everyone loosing sight of that small issue.
VERY dangerous folks…..

Lessons: It is okay to have a crazy minister, unwed teen paraded proudly in front of all your children and suspicious activities surrounding you as long as your are a republican. If you are a democrat then it is not so okay.

It is about time the real people of America are being represented! So long have we waited for “one of us” to be in office. It is just a shame it took so long. Hurray for Hockey Mom’s that still believe in God and go to church! I myself am a football/baseball mom…. and I know who I’ll be voting for this Fall.

I don’t like how Palin is using her special needs infant as a reason why we should put her on a pedestal. I know people with special needs children who are now adults and the stress and heartache it puts on a family- especially elderly parents of disabled adults.
Everyone loves babies, but when it come to special needs adults- they get thrown under the bus.
My friends down’s syndrome adult daughter was placed in a group home to give her some independence in a safe setting. She was not monitored well enough and ended up pregnant by a down’s syndrome male. It was heartache for her parents to deal with this. These types of issues don’t get aired in “pro-life family politics.” It’s absolute heart-wrenching.

What a creative article on Palin! It’s so hard to find a media outlet that isn’t trying and stretching so hard to discredit her. It’s obvious the media hates women, they threw Hilary under the bus now it’s Palin…..Just a though

Interesting that no journalist I know bothered to report that content was taken off Rev. Wright’s church’s Web site. I went to that site right after reports of his sermons leaked to see for myself what he and his church were about. I saw questionable content there I couldn’t find weeks later. DOUBLE STANDARD as usual.

I agree with Todd. All the reborns need to move to Alaska. Then Alaska can secede and then the republican administration will invade it for oil interests (except the administration will call it “National Security Interests”). Geez, Palin doesn’t know the difference between foreign policy and the book of revelations. Absolutely frightening.

I’m a Jewish believer in Jesus. You have quoted just two paragraphs of the six-page transcript of David Brickner’s message, giving the false impression that he is saying that a bulldozer attack by a deranged Palestinian is God’s judgment on the Jewish people.
Among other things, Brickner says, “My mother always told me, ‘Be careful when you point a finger at somebody else, because there’s some pointing back at you.’ And really, Israel has not cornered the market on unbelief. Israel is an example of what all humanity has been saying to God since the beginning of time, shaking its fists at the heavens and saying, ‘You’ll not rule over us.’ And so all of the controversy that we see swirling in Jerusalem is really a mirror that the world looks in to see the controversy within . . . . It’s the dilemma of the human heart.”
Brickner is saying that without forgiveness of sins, which he (and I) believe only comes through Jesus’ sacrificial death for us, there will be judgment – not just for Jews, but for all mankind.

I’ve been to an Assembly of God/Pentecostal church and I too am a Christian. I do not, however, speak in tongues, something quite common in these circles of churches. I’ve been made to feel spiritually inferior as I do not possess this particular gift.
I do believe the gifts of healing and miracles rank right up there with tongues. While I do believe in the healing power of God and have personally witnessed such, I do not believe certain men in this day and age are given these abilities. Miracles, such as raising someone from the dead, were performed by Jesus as well as at least one apostle. When was the last time someone was raised from the dead by someone possessing this particular spiritual gift?
Goto and get a clear understanding of spiritual gifts.

Do you think Charlie Gibson will bring this issue up? Hell no, he is going to lob her softballs as if he was back on Good Morning America. I cant tell you ABC’s interview with Sarah Palin will be a lobsided joke.

Matt,
It’s the book of “Revelation” not revelations. I see that many people don’t look at the fine details and intend to bad mouth others who don’t share their same beliefs. For instance, you stated that all “reborns” (I am assuming you are talking about born-again Christians) should move to Alaska. Would you say something like, “All black people should move to Africa?” I am seeing discrimination abound in the U.S. culture and it is targeting neither race nor gender. It is targeting Christians. I think that, if you would do your own research, you would find that in order for a comment to be true, it must be 100% accurate. It cannot be 90% truth and 10% lies. This culture is built on the 10% truth and 90% hearsay philosophy. You fail to investigate to find the truth, and you have instead settled for accepting 2nd hand words that have been distorted which essentially amount to a lack of ultimate truth. Yes, truth is out there and if you find it, you have found something more important than the lies that many live by. I will just give you the truth. You don’t have to look this up, but if you desire to be an intelligent creature, you can be my guest. Proverbs 14:12 And, again, if you would like to speak about the Bible or “reborns” or whatever you may fancy, research and investigate the origin not the messenger. Then you may speak about such, but as it stands many people who go by another’s knowledge and another’s opinion begin to call themselves experts. And from them comes your lack of truth. Yes, from the “so-called” experts. Hardly intelligent.

Help me understand this. We have “hocky moms” who want someone LIKE THEMSELVES potentially running the country? I’m a working woman with a lot more management and international relations experience than Ms. Palin… and I don’t want someone like ME running for office, because I’m not even remotely qualified! Do they choose their surgeons, dentists, financial advisors, car mechanics, or anyone else purely on the basis of “they’re someone like me?” What a total double standard. Women, PLEASE demonstrate that “hockey mom” doesn’t equal low IQ. You’re making other women look bad.
