Campaign Says Palin Won’t Make ‘SNL’ Cameo

ABC News’ Imtiyaz Delawala Reports: After a crash course in foreign relations this week in New York, Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin may be returning to New York tonight for a crash course in comedy.

Celebrity magazine, OK! Magazine, is reporting that Palin may make a surprise cameo appearance on "Saturday Night Live" tonight, alongside her separated-at-birth look-alike, Tina Fey, who spoofed Palin two weeks ago in the season premiere of the sketch comedy show.

OK! Magazine reported on its Web site on Wednesday that "sources close to the show" said Palin was considering making a surprise cameo on the program, and that Tina Fey would reprise her impersonation of the Republican vice presidential nominee. The magazine also said security for Gov. Palin conducted a walk-through of the Rockefeller Center studio on Wednesday in anticipation of the possible appearance.

Fey, who took home three Emmy awards this week for her work on the NBC sitcom "30 Rock," had previously served as the head writer of "SNL" and co-anchor of the show’s "Weekend Update." She had not been known for impersonations before her comedic turn as Palin drew rave reviews.

Palin herself said Fey’s impersonation was "hilarious," and said she has previously dressed up as Tina Fey for Halloween. Palin watched the segment live while on a flight after a campaign event in Carson City, Nev., but said she did not have the audio on during the skit.

"I watched with the volume all the way down and I thought it was hilarious, she was spot on," Palin told Fox News’ Sean Hannity last week. "Again, I didn’t hear a word she said, but the visual was spot on."

Palin has no public events on her schedule in Philadelphia today, where she is based for the weekend as she prepares for her vice presidential debate with Sen. Joe Biden next Thursday. A spokesperson for the McCain-Palin campaign would neither confirm nor deny the OK! Magazine report.

A surprise appearance on "Saturday Night Live" would explain why Palin chose to base herself in Philadelphia for the weekend. Besides being in a battleground state, the short distance between Philadelphia and New York would allow Palin to take a last-minute flight to New York to appear on the program and return back to Philadelphia.

And while most of Palin’s family — husband Todd, daughter Piper and infant son Trig — returned to Alaska from New York on Wednesday, Palin’s teenage daughter Willow has remained with her on the East Coast, perhaps in anticipation of returning to New York to watch her mother’s live comedic debut.

Both Sen. John McCain and Sen. Barack Obama have made live cameos on "SNL" in the last year. Sen. Hillary Clinton also secretly flew to New York in March to appear in a well-received skit with "SNL" Clinton impersonator Amy Poehler, who reprised her Clinton impersonation two weeks ago for the segment with Tina Fey.

Obama was scheduled to appear on the season premiere of "SNL" but cancelled due to concerns about Hurricane Ike, which made landfall in Texas that weekend.

Update: A McCain-Palin campaign official confirms that Palin will not appear on "Saturday Night Live" tonight.

HEY REPUBLICANS!!
Can you give us your take on the Palin interview on CBS with Katie Couric ?
We are all interested in your opinion on that one. How do you think she did?
I heard her next interview will be on that show “Are you smarter than a 5th grader.”
All bets are on whether she can make it to the second round!!!

WOW, Obama’s poll numbers just keep going up!!
Looks like the Debate, McCain’s fake campaign suspension and then messing up the bailout deal in Washington didn’t help McNasty one bit!!!

This will be good! This will be real, real good! How are SNL satirize someone who is satire?

First, who watches tv, especially a comedy show, with the volume “all the way down,” and still finds the show “hilarious?” Don’t you have to HEAR jokes to laugh at them?? Odd.
Second, why is it that Palin has time for SNL and People magazine, etc., but she only has had time for THREE interviews, and zero time for a single press conference? Isn’t she running for VP of the United States? If she’s purportedly ready to be VP, or even President if necessary, shouldn’t she be able to at least handle a few questions from the press in a standard press conference?
Why is she doing all these entertainment venues, but she can’t even appear after the debates last night to talk to the press? As Letterman so famously said, something doesn’t smell right here.

I hope so! We have not had the chance to see much of her. I hope the McCain camp is saving the best for last!

I don’t think this would be a good idea. Many people already find her to be likable and human. The problem is increasingly people are concluding she is not VP material. SNL is not the venue to address that problem.

i think they should have her back on if she drops out to rip on the mainstream media for destroying her. and of course mccain should choose her replacement from http://www.womenwholooklikesarahpalin.com LOL!

Even with all the celebrity star power at the Barbara Streisand fundraiser, and all the liberal-biased-Media giving his millions in free publicity, Obama is barely 4% ahead of McCain … McCain is going to win the election … Obama “fatal” mistake was in choosing blabber-mouth-Biden over Hillary!

We all know he really pissed off Letterman. He
was supposed to go on Letterman the night he
cancelled his campaign. One hour before the
show, he called Letterman to tell him the urgency,
and Letterman, thinking it was patriotic, said
that he understood. Why he didn’t offer the VP as his fill in is still a mystery. Maybe he still doesn’t
want her exposed to the public.
What made matters worse was that McCain was in the same area at the time of the show was being taped with Jane Couric. Now he says that
this was not a time for comedy and I will agree,
but he could have done Letterman a favor by
offering Palin as a substitute even if it had to
be conferenced in via satellite. Newscaster are
all too familiar with that, even sarah who has a
degree in journalism, so she says.

Posted by: spacerook1 | September 27, 2008, 4:39 pm 4:39 pm

I’m a conservative but not a neocon republican but I will give my take.
I like Gov Palin and at least some of her policies. However, I think she stunk on both the Gibson and Couric interviews.
I think she is an intelligent woman but I don’t think she ever gave a lot of national issues much thought prior to being tapped às the VP for McCain. Right now, she obviously has a confidence problem and is pressing way too hard. I also think the campaign is waaaay over managing her and not allowing her to be herself. They need to back off, imo. Get her out there more, much more. Allow her to answer questions in her own view even if that differs from mccains. Trying to memorize McCains platform and talking points are messing her up because she is obviously cramming. I think she is more than capable of thinking on her own às evident from footage her in Alaska.
I also think she has been treated very unfairly by both the media and the opposition and that is definitely rattling her. Of course presidents need to be able to handle that stuff and the verdict is still out on whether she can, imo. I think a trip to SNL is a great way to get her to loosen up in front of a big audience. I think her worst enemy right now is her own campaign and her concious.
My recommendation to the campaign, stop hiding her. Let her take questions from the traveling press instead of these high profile interviews. She will make Gaffes and mistakes but hell, so does biden. That is the only way to let her season and really see how quick she can learn the game…and yes, it IS a game.
Just my opinion.

Insane / Palin 2008 ??
Civil War and State Secession
Most of us are painfully aware of our country’s past history and the causes for the Civil War which began in 1860. Social, political, economic and racial issues (including slavery) caused a rift between the South and the North. In short, a group Southern States declared secession from the Union. The Government of the Northern States under the strong leadership of Republican Party President Abraham Lincoln regarded the Sothern States’ attempt to secede as an act of rebellion. And, thus was born the deadliest conflict in the history of the Untied States of America. More than 620,000 soldiers died in the conflict and it is estimated that the death toll was well over 700,000 when considering civilian deaths as well.
Abraham Lincoln was a Wonderful leader who believed in a strong, central Federal Government and did not believe that a State had the right to choose to secede from the Union once they had joined the Union. Furthermore, he believed that slavery was immoral and should not exist within the United States. The Republican values of the 1860′s have certainly changed from the republican values of 2008.
We now have a Vice-Presidential candidate who sympathizes with the Alaskan Independence Party (AIP). And, worse yet, her husband was a registered member of the Alaskan Independence Party (AIP)!
WHO IS THE ALASKAN INDEPENDANCE PARTY (AIP)?
The AIP website openly declares that: “…considering the moral, educational, and economic decay of the U.S., Alaskans’ who hold themselves to a higher standard might very well decide to at least maintain an arm’s length distance from a country in decline.”
The “Ultimate Goal” of the AIP is to become a “Separate and Independent Nation” – Apart from the United States of America!!!
As we already know, Todd Palin was a registered member of the Alaskan Independence Party (AIP). Sarah Palin is sympathetic with the Alaskan Independence Party, has attended AIP conventions and as Governor of Alaska has reached out and embraced the AIP and their membership!!!
SERIOUS QUESTIONS ABOUT PALIN ALLEGANCES
Folks, I have some serious questions about the Palin family and their allegiance to the United States of America. Sarah and Todd (“First Dude”) Palin would **NOT** have the Best Interests of the United States of America as their primary goals. They are super-ultra-right-wing Nut Jobs!!! And, their past actions indicate that they **DO NOT** PLEDGE Allegiance to the United States of America, One Nation, Under God, Indivisible with Liberty and Justice for All? They want to literally divide our country by separating Alaska from the rest of the Union and forming a separate country, most likely under some form of dictatorship.
AND SARAH PALIN WANTS TO BE ELECTED VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERCIA???
ONE HEARTBEAT AWAY FROM THE HIGHEST OFFICE IN THE LAND???
THE RUSSIA/GEORGIA CONFLICT FOR OIL
Let there be no doubt in minds of any Americans. If Alaska attempts to secede from the Union as the Palin’s and the ALASKAN INDEPENDANCE PARTY (AIP) are hoping that they will do, Alaska would fail. And, as we already know, Russia has recently invaded Georgia because of Georgia’s rich oil-fields. If Alaska attempts to secede from the United States of America, it would cause an internal conflict within the United States of America and weaken the our Union internally. Furthermore, Russia could attempt to gain control of the Alaskan oil fields in the same way that Russia recently invaded Georgia.
Honestly, I don’t believe that Sarah and Todd Palin understand the values that make the Untied States of America such a great country. The US Constitution and the US Bill of Rights are what make our country great. We hold those ideas to be self-evident. BUT APPARENTLY THOSE IDEAS ARE **NOT** SELF-EVIDENT TO THE PALIN FAMILY!!! THEY ARE ACTUALLY INSANE ENOUGH TO ENTERTAIN THE IDEA OF SECESSION FROM THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!
VOTE AGAINST PALIN IN NOVEMBER 2008!

I like a lot of what ClassicalLiberal said above. Palin was clearly not ready to be picked as VP candidate, and McCain’s camp clearly didn’t perform due diligence on her selection (there is no way they would have selected her if they knew her daughter was pregnant out-of-wedlock).
So, now what? Pretend that it’s all good? Go on some puffy SNL skit, while still shirking real news shows? I think think the point is she’s trying to say “hey, i can laugh at myself too.” The problem is that it reinforces the joke rather than defuses it.
There is only one way to look Presidential and that is to act like it. You go and stand up before the media and take your licks and give them back a few and outsmart and outthink them. She’s already wasted a month. I can’t imagine she’ll make the turnaround in just one more.
It was a dumb dumb dumb pick. Just think of what would be going on had he done the right thing and picked Romney (or at least someone more knowledgeable that could be a good surrogate on the campaign trail.)

Posted by: 1percenter | September 27, 2008, 4:50 pm 4:50 pm

I think Sarah Palin’s interview performance (especially with Katie Couric) has beaten Tina Fey’s SNL performance in terms of silliness. Glad that we have a chance to see how they face off.

Posted by: chris | September 27, 2008, 4:52 pm 4:52 pm

Why is ABC (in fairness ,most news outlets) ignoring Joe Biden. I think the voter expects fair coverage of both V.P. candidates. You are critical of Sarah Palin not allowing questions (and rightly so) and yet you give her all the media coverage. Joe Biden has made himself totally accessible and yet you show little to no coverage of his events and interviews?? Is the lesson to be learned here that if you ignore the media you will get rewarded with undue coverage? Dont assume all voters outside Washington are familiar with Biden…they arent & it is very presumptious of you to think otherwise.Im sure they would appreciate knowing more so they can make informed decisions. In general, you have provided extremely good coverage but this is a glaring deficiency. Thanks!!

Like I say
It’s bad when the comedienne playing the candidate is better equipped and more knowledgeable than the candidate herself.
seriously…her show has a tougher economy than the newly oil rich dependent state of Alaska (thus Palin’s 60 % increase in the states budget)
and her grasp of the issues…Fey is a no brainer over Palin
how sad and scary …and vomit inducing is that?

Gov. Palin’s a mockery to the US. When she won’t even appear at the presidential debate, yet her Party is staging an entry to SNL? Are they counting on “star appeal” for election votes? That offends me so much. No access yet put her out there for entertainment. To think she is willing to be used in this way. Is she unaware of how she’s being victimized by her party? Perhaps the greater offense is that folks are voting Republican because of her. Have any of you visited a “news stand” lately? I wanted to get a Newseek the other day – probably 2,000 choices and they didn’t even carry Newseek, Times or US News!!!! Plenty of People-mag types, gossip news, auto, sports, hobby etc. I thought – our nation is getting even scarier to me when one looks at what we are reading!!!

He rambles on and on because he doesn’t speak from experience. I’m sure he thinks what he’s trying to say will be interpreted as earth shattering, but I’m sorry to say, he comes off desperate to prove himself. He’s boring…boring…boring. He reminds me of the guy on the street corner with a soap box preaching that the sky is failing and we have to unite and storm Washington with his concept of fixing the system. How can he fix the system when he can’t deliver the message to the point on how to fix it.

Gag me. I don’t see how this helps anyone take her seriously. We don’t need celebrity presidents, especially in times of crisis. Paris Hilton could have done a better job and the Republican faithful would have been equally impressed.

Posted by: Espresso | September 27, 2008, 5:28 pm 5:28 pm

I support Obama, and I don’t like Sarah Palin, but I think that she is a highly intelligent, articulate, and charming woman – you can watch previous debates and interviews in Alaska for proof of that.
The problem is that she was thrown into this campaign at the very last minute and has had so much information crammed into her brain, by Joe Liebermann of all people, that she can’t think straight anymore. I BLAME JOHN McCAIN for what’s happening to her. He would have included her in his campaign many months ago if he was really serious about choosing her as his VP. It was a last minute decision with the sole objective of upstaging Barack Obama.
I feel like he’s been pimping her to the American and International public. I felt so bad for her when the Pakistani president said that he wanted to hug her. How often does a muslim man hit on a (white) woman, she’s clearly just a pretty face to those heavy hitters out there.
Had the McCain campaign given her a chance to become more familiar with Washington politics, and to show her fighting spirit over time, she would be in a stronger position right now.

@geevill: Can McCain/Palin supporter EVER stop lying?
Obama said, “I got my bracelet from Sgt — Uh,” because he meant to say “I got my bracelet from the MOTHER of Sgt X” not because he couldn’t remember the name of the soldier.
If you guys would ever stick to the truth when you try to criticize Obama, maybe you would actually win an argument or two. But you go for a “cheap, dirty” jab that never really connects rather than talking about real issues that matter.
Such school yard bullies — just like your candidate.

CNN’s Campbell Brown is right. McCain’s controlling and holding back Palin, and it is obviously sexist for him to do so. I’m sure the woman can hold her own. Let her fly. Let us be the judge of how she does. As Amy Poehler says, McCain needs to grow a pair. What a sexist dimwit he is.

Too bad not enough people can’t treat their political opposition with respect and yet debate and defend their personal views.
Kudos to you! Good luck!

They took Palin on a field trip two days ago to meet nine heads of state and Bono. When she was done she became a bona fide expert on foreign policy. When you add this experience to the experience she gained looking out of her window to one of the Russian islands, she is now ready to lead the free world. Isn’t that special?
On the way home they took her to the store and bought her balloons and candy.

Palin, what a joke… I was talking in the restraunt with a waitress at a TA truck stop. Yes, I am a truck driver. The waitress says to me, “Im voting for McIdiot and Palin.” The reason was that Obama scares me. I then said if Obama scares you, then you really must be terrified of palin then, because she doesnt know his policies and at least Obama is not hid from the public.

If Palin is on SNL, maybe she can get a job there or hook up with Tina Fey on 30 Rock or something, playing her long lost sister. Just as long as she’s not running our country or helping to run our country…into the ground.

Davis!
Sarah Palin did very well at the interview! She is just reminding me barrack Obama’s first few months when he was battling against Hillary Clinton!
I am a Democrat and am proud of the Republicans to pick Palin. because she evens of Obama! Obama is NOT better than palin, so we get two now!
It gioves me a good reason why I should vote for Palin!

Posted by: Democrat | September 27, 2008, 8:23 pm 8:23 pm

To Davis,
So you called Gov. Palin “a moose with lipstick”
What if someelse call your man “a Monkey in a suite”?
Like that? you are truly disrespectful individual and should not be allowed in a civilized society.
I can’t TOTALLY disagree with your candidate, but I won’t called him “monkey”

Obama never cared much for economy before or after the financial crisis – he chose Biden for his foreign experience to match up against the great McCain just to win an election. Obama is a fake.

Obama has less experience in ANYTHING that matters than any of theother three people in this race. And the Democrats have already crowned him their god.
Shows how little Democrats care for real, hardworking people, and suck up to the Hollywood, rock-star mentality.

I said thanks but no thanks to that bridge to nowhere

Posted by: Omentum | September 27, 2008, 8:37 pm 8:37 pm

After watching the debate, I decided to vote for John McCain and I am an independent!
Here is why!
Obama defended his foreign policy differences from McCain and was in favor of meeting with Iranian president! when McCain explained to him why we can not, than
Obama said that even Henry Kissinger said that we should meet with Iranian president Ahmedinejat! and put McCain down!
McCain said that he would have never siad that! Than Obama cut off McCain and insisted that!
After the debate Kissinger released a statement saying he did not say nor think we should meet with Iran at presidential levels! And accused Obama to spin his words!
that was it for me!
Obama will say and tell you anything to get elected!
Now I really do not trust Obama anymore about any issue! Taxes, health care, economy, national security and foregign policy!
OBAMA IS A LIAR!

An update from Obama lawsuit filed in PA court house!
Now friends, I want you to know, we FULLY EXPECTED Obama’s lame answer.
We just weren’t sure exactly how his response would be worded, but we
knew the basis of his answer from the beginning. He had no other answer
that he could make since he isn’t a citizen and possibly never was one
at all and couldn’t produce documents to say he is eligible and a
citizen.

I am quite certain the eventual outcome of this suit, even if some of
you aren’t. That’s okay because you aren’t privy to things we’ve found
out, of which only a few are mentioned in the suit. You will all see
very soon. Now, if any of you want to help, please spread the word or
you can write letters to Patrick Fitgerald US Attorney form Chicago,
and Diane Feinstein, Chair of the Senate Rules Committee demanding
these people investigate this massive fraud and coverup. If Feinstein
doesn’t do her job, she can be held personally liable. Look, we have
to hold people in positions of power accountable if they do not do
their jobs and protect the public which gave them their powers. Women
want equal pay, equal rights and equality with men in general – then
they msut also be held equally accountable when they are negligent to
their duties.

Can you be specific on the legality of the issue?
Did he have a REAL Birth certificate?
Was he born in Hawaii?
Is he a Kenyan citizen?
I know his mother is an Amrican. But that does not make him a US citizen if he is born out of a foreign/citizen w/out documentation.

Posted by: NoTrustObama | September 27, 2008, 9:20 pm 9:20 pm

OBAMA WILL BE PRESIDENT OF UNITED OF AMERICA very, very soon.
For those of you that can’t believe it, live on.
He is Christian, not Muslim.
My question is: why do people hate Muslims? Is it because they are labeled terrorists? Was Timothy McVay a Muslim? He did kill over 100 people in Oklahoma City. That was a terrorist attack. But he was Christian, I was told. So, that makes all Christians terrorists.
What about the serial killers who attack crowds of people in schools, colleges, malls, restaurants. They are mostly Christans. So there, all Christians are terrorists. And they live here in the U.S.
Do you guys get my point?
Get smart and vote for the best candidate in your opinion, and not because he/she is supposed to be affiliated with “terrorist” religion.
Common sense will carry this country along way.
P.S. Although I will not vote for Palin’s ticket, she deserves respect.

Gov. Palin may surprise a lot of people at the vice presidential debate and do quite well, but I wish she would act more vice presidential and give more candid interviews to the media about the issues instead of declining invitations to speak. I wanted to see her give post-comments after the presidential debate Friday night like Sen. Biden did. I want to see her on Meet the Press, Face the Nation, The NewsHour on PBS and shows of this genre. The more she appears on television to give her views on the issues, the more the electorate will take her seriously. She can do the SNL thing closer to the presidential election, but as for now she has a lot of leg work to do with American voters. She’s a contender for Vice President of the United States, not vice president of a student council. That’s some weighty stuff.

Posted by: em | September 27, 2008, 9:53 pm 9:53 pm

I can’t speak for Republicans, but as a libertarian I think fellow libertarian Sarah Palin did fantastically with big government statist-liberal Katie Couric.
Of course the big government liberals are going to hate a limited government supporter like Palin. And from the most libertarian State in the Nation, no less. Hoity Toity East Coast elites absolutely hate Westerner rugged individualists like Palin. Thus the vitriol and the sny remarks from the Queen of all Elitists Katie Couric.

Boy, are these libs going to be very disappointed come election day. If you think that this country is dumb enough to put a black empty suit in the White house then I’ve got a bridge to sell ya.

Posted by: Ed Stanowicz | September 27, 2008, 10:10 pm 10:10 pm

What we do know is the following:
1) The Democrats should be running away with this election over a month ago due to voters unhappiness with Bush Administration. This should be an absolute coast to the White House.
2) If Hillary was picked by the Dems rather than Obama, McCain NEVER would have called up Palin from AA to the Majors so early in her career to help generate excitement.
3) Palin is not stupid. She’s a governor and a mother. But McCain and camp are stupid thinking that a governor who got pulled in at the last minute would be some kinda expert on national issues. Obama has had almost 20 months to prepare/practice his public speaking. That is a tremendous edge and why he did not lose the debate. I scored it a tie.
4) Nobody anticipated that the mortgage loan crisis would hit now and that really hurts the party that has the Executive branch, the Republicans.
5) And the big one: The MSM is SO over the top for Obama and they are not even trying to appear objective anymore. Obama still has not been properly vetted, and yet Palin has been so thoroughly investigated and vilified by the MSM that I’m expecting a critique of her kindergarten report card any minute.
What is going to happen to this country down the road as the Dems continue to push more socialism, which will gradually slow down the economy more.
If Obama and Dems try to pass the Fairness Doctrine, which is clearly unconstitutional, I think a revolt may occur.
Whoever wins the election is inheriting a weak economy that is bound to get weaker.
I don’t see why either candidate wants to be President under the circumstances. Whoever it is is gonna fail.
Last: If Obama wins, Hillary’s dreams of POTUS are finished. With a McCain win and a Dem Congress to thwart him, Hillary would be a shoo-in for 2012.

I am a hard core democrat– but I cannot bring myself to vote for Obama for one reason; Palin. Palin is the real deal! She is a born leader and thoughtful stateswoman with the very best qualities of Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt, and Reagan, but with none of their flaws. Everyone knows that there is a good chance that McCain, with his age and health history, may not survive his first term. With that in mind, the voters of America have the privilege to position Palin to assume the oval office within the next four years!!!. This articulate, once-in-a-generation, political genius has the undeniable ability to save not just the United States from economic stagnation, political disunity, and social disorder–but she is perhaps the only person on this planet who can save the WORLD from its own peril and doom. People, I urge you–wake up and do your research. Put Palin First!!!!!!

Columnist Kathleen Writes Parker:
“Palin filibusters. She repeats words, filling space with deadwood. Cut the verbiage and there’s not much content there. Here’s but one example of many from her interview with Hannity: “Well, there is a danger in allowing some obsessive partisanship to get into the issue that we’re talking about today. And that’s something that John McCain, too, his track record, proving that he can work both sides of the aisle, he can surpass the partisanship that must be surpassed to deal with an issue like this.”
When Couric pointed to polls showing that the financial crisis had boosted Obama’s numbers, Palin blustered wordily: “I’m not looking at poll numbers. What I think Americans at the end of the day are going to be able to go back and look at track records and see who’s more apt to be talking about solutions and wishing for and hoping for solutions for some opportunity to change, and who’s actually done it?”
If BS were currency, Palin could bail out Wall Street herself.”
Parker suggests that Palin could bow out for “personal reasons,” such as to care for her infant son: “No one would criticize a mother who puts her family first.”
Parker wasn’t the only national Review writer to call for a shake-up in the McCain campaign. Kathryn Jean Lopez wrote that Palin is not coming off at her best in interviews, and notes that in keeping Palin on a tight media leash the campaign is potentially hurting the ticket more:

Remember polling prior to an election doesn’t mean anything for ex Gore and Kerry. I remember 2004 all day exit polling were saying Kerry was going to win by a landslide. Didn’t happen. Same thing in 2000. And it’s sad to say but the truth of the matter is millions of people Democrat, Republican, and Other who get called on these tracking polls will say they are voting for Obama but never will because of race. Most people will never admit that over the phone. I was called about a month ago by Zogby poll and I am registered Independent and I said i would vote for Obama but i never will. talking to a live person over the phone I couldn’t admit. Millions of others like me. Let say only 5% of Democrats who say they would vote for Obama won’t election day because of race that is about 5 million votes. Lets say another million or two Indepen voters John Mccain is the winner. Florida, Ohio, and Virginia will not vote for Obama if Mccain wins these 3 he wins the election.

Amazing. Sarah Palin spent six years getting a four year degree in journalism. A job which involves speaking coherently in front of a camera. Like Katie Couric. Yet Palin sounds like a gibbering moron in every interview. Embarrassing.
Newsflash, Sarah: stringing random syllables together does not equal speaking….. unless of course you happen to be in church. Try English for the rest of us from now on, ‘kay?

WHY should GOV Palin go on SNL – just to boost their ratings – when they have trashed her?????
GOV Palin is a very qualified woman – back off and let her do her job.
My God – the media twists her every word yet Biden messes up – Daily and its OK!
Give her a chance – every time she says a word the media is quick to trash her.
I will VOTE for McCian/Palin over the FRAUD Obama anyday!

All you stupid libs saying she shouldn’t go on SNL because we don’t need a star president. Hint: she’s the VP candidate. Your current top of the ticket candidate is nothing but a pop star. And if I’m not mistaken, your hero Billy C went on SNL and played his sax with the groovy Wayfarer shades. So spare me your sanctimonious bs you stupid losers. Oh, and if you’re so enlightened and the electorate is so ignorant, maybe it’s YOU who is out of step with the reality in America.

The reason Palin watched SNL without hearing a word of it…she couldn’t figure out how the volume control worked.
She connects incomplete sentences and disconnected thoughts into incomprehensible jibberish.
Just what you expect from a college freshman who never went to class trying to cram for finals…
“Uh, the square root of the element Rhodium. You know, it’s in Africa, or used to be, which is why we cut taxes and increase our security from the country across the border from New Mexico. I visited both of those countries, didn’t even need a passport to one of them so we need more troops….cool!”
Some of the G.O.P. would like her to bail with the excuse she needs to be there for her family, or something like that because she’s such an embarrassment. Hahahaha! Hallelujah!!!

Obama has a Harvard law degree.
Obama taught constitutional law.
Obama is a best-selling author.
Obama gave up a lucrative law practice to work with the poor in Chicago.
Obama has spent 10 years in political office, working for the middle class.
Obama has traveled the world, and met with many foreign leaders.
Obama is an accomplished public speaker.
Obama was chosen by millions of people to be the Democratic nominee for president.
Obama went through 19 months of scrutiny into his professional and personal life to get to where he is today.

OPERATION SAVING SARAH
As the lawmakers of Washington are getting ready to bail out wallstreet I call upon all American women to bail out Sarah from destruction. Sarah Palin, a mother of five is being sacrificed in the name of getting women votes to elect Mccain to the white house, currently needs rescuing. It is up to women of America to rescue her. The poor woman is confused and out of place. God knows how long it is gone to take for her to realize that she was being used and abused. Will it take a nervous break down?
Her sheltering and hiding by the Mccain’s campaign is yet the worst insult to her, her family and American women. As if she has some kind of contagious disease. I am sure she misses her kids and wants at some point to stop embarrassing her family, her Alaska and her Wasilla. Time is running out and it is running fast. Women of America, mothers of the land let us get together and save Sarah from the cynical Mcainic machine. We need to do it and do it quick. For our children, especially our little girls to not undermine the importance of education. For our young girls to not consider living in clueless land, to recognize when they are being used and know when to pull out of a situation and get the education necessary for a given position. American women please let’s have mercy on Sarah. Check my blog: http://mercy4usa.blogspot.com/

What was funny about the SNL skit without volume? Nothing. She’s morphing her earlier answer about finding it hilarious (didn’t have a comment then on volume level) to fit with the McCain response that it was sexist, which it obviously wasn’t (Hillary was portrayed as smart)…

Yo PTN!: When you’ve been in the business as long as Joe Biden through millions of rubber chicken dinners you expect a few gaffs.
But Palin? They hide her away because she can’t get out of the gate without gaffs.
It’s just that non-answers don’t make the bar and exchanging children’s names with an oogling state leader doesn’t make her competent to discuss real issues. It’s hilarious.
Maybe she’ll pull out because of a “calling” to hook up with her Kenyan witch hunter Rev. Muthee…Hahahaha!

Davis said: “HEY REPUBLICANS!! Can you give us your take on the Palin interview on CBS with Katie Couric ?”
Sure…as soon as you have an open discussion about the moronic crap Joe Biden has been saying on the trail. Oh, but wait, they don’t talk about THAT in the left-wing blogs you get your news from.
NOTHING Palin said in the Couric interview is a quarter as moronic as Joe “I bet I have a higher I.Q. than you” Biden looking directly at a man in a wheelchair and asking him to stand up so the crowd can see him. Or how about seeing “President” FDR on television in 1929? What about his constantly changing support/criticism of coal? What about “The next President of the United States, Barack America”?
Face it, Biden is proving himself to be every bit of a babbling idiot that Obama is. Nice ticket you guys have…

I am frustrated!! I think McCain is the right choice for this country right now for a variety of reasons; but I am puzzled with Sarah Palin. I agree with the poster who said that she is actually very intelligent and a good speaker- she kicked butt during her debates in AK. What is going on? I do think that they are “helping” her prepare for these interviews. The more she tries to give “their answers” as opposed to her own, she gets flustered and can’t seem to put it all together. Look, THE REASON McCain picked her was because she will sniff out corruption in government and work hard to rid of it, and probably will be very good at it. I think all of the BS about McCain dying in office is craziness. What if Obama dies? Who do we have then? Biden? He would be just as embarrassing as Palin. Okay, who is third in line? Pelosi. GOD HELP US!! Let’s face it, Obama should have picked Hillary and McCain should have picked Romney and then we could all sleep well at night.

McCain and the POW Cover-up:
http://www.nationinstitute.org/p/schanberg09182008pt1
By Sydney H. Schanberg
Sydney H. Schanberg, a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter, has since 1959 been a reporter and columnist for the New York Times, Newsday and the Village Voice. He has reported extensively on the POW story.
_______________________________________
This section is dedicated to the downfall of our economy and McCain’s guilt by association. Be sure to notice that out of those involved in the Keating Five, JOHN McCAIN is the only one STILL IN OFFICE. It may seem a little familiar to today’s crisis. (Note that the word familiar is fami(ly) and liar combined.)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Savings_and_loan_crisis#Lincoln_Savings_and_Loan
Tax Reform Act of 1986
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Savings_and_loan_crisis#Tax_Reform_Act_of_1986
The Depository Institutions Deregulation and Monetary Control Act (signed by Reagan), a United States federal financial statute law passed in 1980, gave the Federal Reserve greater control over non-member banks. Its main purpose was to force all banks to abide by the Fed’s rules. It also allowed banks to merge. Its secondary purpose was to allow credit unions and savings and loans to offer checkable deposits. The law also removed the power of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors under the Glass-Steagall Act and Regulation Q to set the interest rates of savings accounts.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_Reform_Act_of_1986
By enacting 26 U.S.C. § 469 (relating to limitations on deductions for passive activity losses and limitations on passive activity credits) to remove many tax shelters, especially for real estate investments, the Tax Reform Act of 1986 significantly decreased the value of many such investments which had been held more for their tax-advantaged status than for their inherent profitability. This contributed to the end of the real estate boom of the early to mid ’80s and facilitated the Savings and Loan crisis. Prior to 1986, much real estate investment was done by passive investors. It was common for syndicates of investors to pool their resources in order to invest in property, commercial or residential. They would then hire management companies to run the operation. TRA 86 reduced the value of these investments by limiting the extent to which losses associated with them could be deducted from the investor’s gross income. This, in turn, encouraged the holders of loss-generating properties to try and unload them, which contributed further to the problem of sinking real estate values. This turmoil and repositioning in real estate markets was caused not by changes in market conditions.
Deregulation (McCain called himself the “deregulator.”)
Although the deregulation of S&Ls gave them many of the capabilities of banks, it did not bring them under the same regulations as banks, and the new legislation allowed them to enter new lending businesses with very little oversight. Thrifts could choose to be under either a state or a federal charter. Immediately after deregulation of the federally chartered thrifts, the state-chartered thrifts rushed to become federally chartered, because of the advantages associated with a federal charter. In response, states (notably, California and Texas) changed their regulations so they would be similar to the federal regulations. States changed their regulations because state regulators were paid by the thrifts they regulated, and they didn’t want to lose that money.
Lincoln Savings and Loan
The Lincoln Savings led to the Keating Five political scandal, in which five U.S. senators were implicated in an influence-peddling scheme. It was named for Charles Keating, who headed Lincoln Savings and made $300,000 as political contributions to them in the 1980s. Three of those senators – Alan Cranston (D-CA), Don Riegle (D-MI), and Dennis DeConcini (D-AZ) – found their political careers cut short as a result. Two others – John Glenn (D-OH) and John McCain (R-AZ) – were rebuked by the Senate Ethics Committee for exercising “poor judgment” for intervening with the federal regulators on behalf of Keating.
Silverado Savings and Loan
Silverado Savings and Loan collapsed in 1988, costing taxpayers $1.3 billion. Neil Bush, son of then Vice President of the United States George H. W. Bush, was Director of Silverado at the time. Neil Bush was accused of giving himself a loan from Silverado, but he denied all wrongdoing.
The US Office of Thrift Supervision investigated Silverado’s failure and determined that Neil Bush had engaged in numerous “breaches of his fiduciary duties involving multiple conflicts of interest.” Although Bush was not indicted on criminal charges, a civil action was brought against him and the other Silverado directors by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation; it was eventually settled out of court, with Bush paying $50,000 as part of the settlement, the Washington Post reported.
As a director of a failing thrift, Bush voted to approve $100 million in what were ultimately bad loans to two of his business partners. And in voting for the loans, he failed to inform fellow board members at Silverado Savings & Loan that the loan applicants were his business partners.
Neil Bush paid a $50,000 fine and was banned from banking activities for his role in taking down Silverado, which cost taxpayers $1.3 billion. A Resolution Trust Corporation Suit against Bush and other officers of Silverado was settled in 1991 for $26.5 million.
A Republican fundraiser set up a fund to help defer costs Neil incurred in his S&L dealings.
These worthless Repukes are the sole reason why our country falls apart. They can not manage our economy.

This bill was written by McCain’s buddy and financial advisor. If McCain gets elected, he could very well be the chairman of the SEC.
The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, also known as the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Financial Services Modernization Act, Pub.L. 106-102, 113 Stat. 1338, enacted 1999-11-12, is an Act of the United States Congress which repealed part of the Glass-Steagall Act, opening up competition among banks, securities companies and insurance companies. The Glass-Steagall Act prohibited a bank from offering investment, commercial banking, and insurance services.
The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) allowed commercial and investment banks to consolidate.

Obama has to have staff workers hold his paperwork and speech’s so he doesn’t misplace them, and his office is a wreck where he can hardly find anything. Those words came right from his mouth, and you libs want him to run the gov. with our tax dollar’s? That just tells me he will never know where any of the money is going other than his own earmarking pocket.

Hi Pals,
I’M AGAINST THE $85,000,000,000.00 BAILOUT OF AIG!
Instead, I’m in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a
“WE DESERVE IT DIVIDEND.”
To make the math simple, let’s assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.
Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..
So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billion; that equals $425,000.00.
My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a
“WE DESERVE IT DIVIDEND.”
Of course, it would NOT be tax free.
So let’s assume a tax rate of 30%.
Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.
That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.
But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.
A husband and wife has $595,000.00.
What would YOU do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?
- PAY OFF YOUR MORTGAGE housing crisis solved.
- REPAY COLLEGE LOANS what a great boost to new grads!
- PUT AWAY MONEY FOR COLLEGE it’ll be there.
- SAVE IN A BANK create money to loan to entrepreneurs.
- BUY A NEW CAR create jobs.
- INVEST IN THE MARKET capital drives growth.
- PAY FOR YOUR PARENTS’ MEDICAL INSURANCE health care improves.
- ENABLE DEADBEAT DADS TO COME CLEAN or else!
Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+, including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.
If we’re going to re-distribute wealth let’s really do it, instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( “vote buy” ) economic incentive that is being proposed by one of our candidates for President.
If we’re going to do an $85 billion bailout, let’s bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!
As for AIG liquidate it!
Sell off its parts.
Let American General go back to being American General.
Sell off the real estate.
Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.
HERE’S MY RATIONALE: WE DESERVE IT AND AIG DOESN’T.
Sure it’s a crazy idea that can “never work.”
But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party?
HOW DO YOU SPELL “ECONOMIC BOOM?”
I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion “WE DESERVE IT DIVIDEND” more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC .
And remember, the Birk plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.
Ahhh… I feel so much better getting that off my chest.
Kindest personal regards,
Birk

Look you guys. Vote for who you want. But Palin said she watched the sketch, it was hilarious and ‘spot on.’ Then we find out she had the volums down. It was a sophisticated put down against Tina Fey and SNL. Done without seeming nasty or vindictive. Palin didn’t offer a true compliment, nor a defensive answer. She basically put down Tina Fey and SNL by saying the thing was brilliant… too funny… then adding, she wasn’t listening. The volume was down.
Look, the media’s lacerating this woman. Americans know it. They’re all in the tank for Obama anyway: TV and newspapers. Obama… now THAT’S someone we need disclosure on! We know he’s a radical, a Socialist, deals with anti-white racists.
Hell, he even called middle class Americans bitter and clingy, holding onto their guns and religion, afraid of other people, other cultures. America is popular – so popular, we have people from many cultures trying to get IN – not the other way around! So he’s very racist and a radical to boot.
It’s true that a Governor does have more business and budget experience than a Senator. (Senators talk, raise money and negotiate.)
Those of who read the political blogs know that Obama is a phony jive talkin’ race hustler who wants to take down America.
Henry Kissinger’s slap down of Obama after the debate was BEAUTIFUL. Obama, who thinks he knows it all gets caughtas the moron that he is. LOL
Anyway, Sarah Palin’s remained pleasant with the press, even cooperative. Let’s see where this goes. She didn’t get elected Governor of Alaska by being an airhead. She accomplished major statewide political reform on her rise to the top. The McCain camp needs to let her answer more on her own, away from a memorized platform. Her resume shows she handled government reform, a claim Obama makes but is a lie. He helped Chicago’s Stroger family stay in power, when party reformers were asking Obama to help clean up local politics. Guess what Obama did. He ignored the reformers, helped the Strogers stay in power and he’s been protected ever since. Sort of like an episode of The Sopranos, huh? That’s why we don’t want him winning and we do want him to get the hell out of Dodge. He’s dangerous and runs with a bad crowd of radicals and close associates.
As far as Palin, the interviewers and their editors need to stop splicing the answers to jump and skip and make the guest look bad. We’re smart enough to see that happening. (You do know that’s how reality TV is done.. The editors create story lines by editing dialogue and characters.) The media’s been doing this while treating Palin like garbage, all to help Obama. It’s disingenuous, and we WILL remember when we’re in the voting booth.

If Pakistan is not able, or not willing to help, uh uh, then we should take out Bin Laden. So much for sitting down and being diplomatic with a nation who already has a nuke and doesn’t want us in their country. But Obama is willing to be diplomatic and sit down with another maniac who runs a rogue regime and already said Israel and America will be destroyed, and does not have a nuke yet? I really do not see any commonsense in his views and idea’s when dealing with those situations. He’s just sounding like a BRAY.

I love how the McFanatics are taking the “McCain is right” sound bite out of context to somehow support McCain as being the right choice. Nice grade school tactic. Sure, McCain is right when it comes to identifying some of the major problems confronting America, such as his own party’s messing up of the economy, but as Obama went on to describe, McCain is dead wrong when it comes to what the solutions are. Pretty pathetic, especially when McCain likes to talk so much about reaching across party lines. He betrays this rhetoric by mocking Obama for acknowledging common ground. That’s no surprise though, McCain is notorious for treating people with different views as the enemy. He couldn’t even look Obama in the eye. Instead, he treated a fellow senator with utter disdain and contempt. That’s not the type of attitude or demeanor that should be projected by someone aspiring to be the next president.

Reality Check: with all due respect you sound like you don’t anything about the mortgage crisis. It was legislation and sloppy changes designed to allow POOR PEOPLE the chance to BUY homes and live beyond their means. Skipped payments led to foreclosures… and the current mess. You can’t blame Republicans for this.
And McCain has lost conservative support over the years for WORKING WITH DEMS. He’s truly reached across the aisle many times and has the legislation to prove it. Obama votes hard left, when he bothers to vote other than ‘present.’ As they say, you’re entitled to your own opinions, but not to your own facts.
Obama is #2 on the list of those who received money from Fannie-Freddie. Yes, #2 !! This is the same guy who glued his name to McCain’s reform bill, but cut and run when it came time to run his own presidential campaign. Barack Obama: never the same answer two days in a row. Can you say hypocrite??

Wow, people who follow ABC for their political information don’t like Palin? That’s a HUGE shocker.
People have hated Palin since she was announced as VP. So it’s no surprise then you’re all gleeful at her supposed faults and mistakes.
Give me a break.

Posted by: Jennifer | September 28, 2008, 2:47 am 2:47 am

The number one reason why to not vote for republicans is. They can never admit mistakes, screw ups, blunders, f..k ups that they have made.
Logic ditates a problem must be acknowledged before it can be corrected. There is no problem to correct otherwise which is just how republicans think.

– People have hated Palin since she was announced as VP. So it’s no surprise then you’re all gleeful at her supposed faults and mistakes. –
Hate her? I’d hardly say that.. perhaps more afraid of her due to lack of any real experience for the position, combined with the obvious lack of judgement by McCain for picking her. Please, do give a list of reasons why she was the best VP running mate.. and ‘energetic’, ‘fresh’ and ‘down-to-earth’ do not count.

Posted by: Concerned American | September 28, 2008, 3:51 am 3:51 am

– Obama is #2 on the list of those who received money from Fannie-Freddie. Yes, #2 !! –
Claim: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac gave Obama large campaign contributions, second only to Senator Dodd.
Fact: Partially true but misleading
Reality:
It is true that, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, the second highest recipient of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac contributions is Obama. However, these are from individuals who work for these companies, not the companies themselves (which would be illegal). Top spot is Sen. Chris Dodd with $165,400, with Obama being number two with $126,349. McCain has received $21,500.
http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2008/09/update-fannie-mae-and-freddie.html
Interestingly, if you look at contributions from Fannie and Freddies boards of directors and lobbyists, who are technically not employees, McCain has received a total of $169,000 and Obama has received $16,000. Combined, McCain has actually received more funding ($190,550) than Obama ($142,349) from these financial giants.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/10/us/politics/10fannie.html
In any event, these figures represent significantly less than 1% of each candidates total campaign contributions, and are therfore unlikely to make much of a difference in their positions one way or another.

– with all due respect you sound like you don’t anything about the mortgage crisis. It was legislation and sloppy changes designed to allow POOR PEOPLE the chance to BUY homes and live beyond their means. –
Not quite.. the bill was designed to remove discrimination, not to allow poor people to buy homes. I’m in real estate, and I’ve seen it all. Banks were handing out loans on overvalued homes to all classes, not just the poor, and doing so in a reckless fashion across the board (homes overvalued from true market price, 100% loan to value, little or no background or credit checks, etc..). If you seriously believe that the mortgage industry is in dire straits due to low income housing, then you are living in a world far removed from reality.

Posted by: Concerned American | September 28, 2008, 4:05 am 4:05 am

Wow, what a surprise. Someone in the mortgage industry that doesn’t know what they’re talking about. The current crisis is blow back from the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). It wasn’t about discrimination, it was about poor people. It started in the late 70’s and underwent expansion in 97. In a nutshell, banks were compelled to make crap loans if they wanted to grow. It was a ticking bomb waiting for cheap money (low interest rates) to start the ball rolling. Ironically, while many criticize the President for deregulating things – it was in fact bad regulation that started this. Not to mention the wonderfully gifted masses that consume that tripe without thinking, oh ya, he’s in the executive branch of government and they make laws (regulations) in the legislative branch. And no, he has not vetoed any banking regulation (at least to my recollection).
Palin’s lack of experience? You gotta be kidding me. I’m not saying she’s brimming with experience, but exactly how does one reconcile that argument with Obama? She at least has chief executive experience – which he has none. Being a senator is not experience for the presidency and that’s one of the many reasons why Presidents are commonly drawn from the governor pool and not the senate.
From my quick perusal, most making comments here will vote for Obama. Wonderful, you deserve to have your lives beholden to him. 20% of the US population works for the government and he wants more. Obama loves that. The more you depend on the government, the more you give him and his friends power. His notions of fairness are straight from Karl Marx. What’s truly sad is that these words don’t resonate with you the way they should. You think Palin’s and Bush are scary just as Republican’s didn’t care for Hilary Clinton, but none of these people would really change things dramtically. Less than 2% of the country pay well over 80% of the taxes and that is fairness? Would it surprise anyone to know that this would be in direct violation of our original US Constitution which only suspended real fairness to pay for WW1 (they were worried that income tax could go as high as 10% – but that was too ridiculous to be believed). So, he wants a great, innovative country and his words and agenda clearly show a strong movement towards socialism. Show me the great nation of this world that is socialistic or communistic? I’ve been to and worked in many of the countries that might come to mind and if you think they’re great – believe me – you don’t know what you’re talking about.

“lb” scribbled: The current crisis is blow back from the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). It wasn’t about discrimination, it was about poor people.
—-
That was not what was being discussed if you go back and look at the article referenced. And nobody was forcing banks to take bad loans, and it wasn’t until banking regulations in 1999 were lifted that banks were free to package them up and sell to investors. But it doesn’t matter who is to blame, as that has no bearing on the election or the candidates (well, McCain was in congress during a lot of what happened, so he is more to blame than Obama for at least that).
As for Palin, she will be the main reason McCain fails for his bid at the White House. It was a poor judgement call on his part. Spin it however you like to justify your position in your own mind.
As for your claim that the US would become socialistic (your comparison to communism) with Obama, along with your stated numbers is laughable. I suppose you are one of the handful of people who still think that trickle down economics work.

It is better to be Indepentant. It makes you feel good. Forget both Candidates, let them fight for Their own place in the World. Vote ‘no’ to both. And ‘Yes’ to Bailout ONLY 95% middle class. The Palin Interview with Katie reminded me of just about EVERY interview by Obama…reptetitive and filled with talking points. Its called gaff avoidance and so far she leads BIDEN 0-5 for the week. When anyone has to measure EVERY word the tone MUST be less than spontaneous. I chuckle at the sheeple who repeat media-spin about Palin as if it has any significance. I watched the debate and now read the spin. It is incredible how Obamas stammering and studdering responses have been so totally overlooked, to be replaced by some supposed lack of use of “middle class”. The new symbol of the Democratic party (an ACORN) aptly shifts the focus from any middle class, to the “racist” community. Obama is a figurehead for the radical Liberal machine. With any luck the fact that he is a squirrel will become evident before the election.

OBAMA – BIDEN = O[s]AMA BI[nla]DEN. Coincidence? I don’t think so. What better way for Al Qaeda to get back at the U.S. than by having one of their own as commander in chief!! Oh yeah, Obama’s been groomed for this job. And choosing Biden as his running mate makes it all the more eerier. Only liberals & democrats could underestimate Al Qaeda and be stupid enough to vote for them. Obamas a MUSLIM!! Always has been, always will be!! Has anyone else ever seen a SNL skit using the exact words of a candidate.
Tina Fey we love you.

I just saw the Reliance Campaign Poll.
It DOES have Obama down 48 – 46.
WTF?
So does a poll out of Boston…can’t remember the name of that poll.
These have to be lies!

Posted by: Gia | September 28, 2008, 2:09 pm 2:09 pm

I just saw that same poll on CNN!
AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!
Please stop showing that poll!
It depresses me!
BTW, the KEY poll out of Pennsylvania has the numbers McSame 48 – Obama 45!
They must be lying!

Posted by: Carla | September 28, 2008, 2:11 pm 2:11 pm

They are real polls…but remember, they ask more Republicans than other polls.
Gallup samples 42% Dems and 26%Reps.
The Key poll samples 42% Dems and 32% Reps.
So it’s obviously skewed toward Republicans.
You have to sample at least 50% more Democrats to get an accurate poll.

I just saw the new Zogby poll.
It also has McCain up by three.
Zogby is clearly a right wing hack.

Posted by: John | September 28, 2008, 2:16 pm 2:16 pm

The Reliance Campaign poll only measures a “bounce” from a specific candidate. It’s the Washington Post’s version of the “Key” poll out of Pennsylvania.
They only measure BOUNCE.
Don’t despair.
So McCain got a bounce.
They never last.

Obama can’t afford to lose a single point!
With the Rezko (sp?) dude about to talk to make a deal, Obama needs as much of a lead as he can get.

Posted by: Gia | September 28, 2008, 2:21 pm 2:21 pm

And keep in mind, 18% of voters are undecided.
that’s a lot.
Remember the Democrat primary. Almost all the last minute deciders went against Obama, and for Hillary.
So we need at least a 10 point advantage going into election day.
Keep the faith!

Posted by: Gretchen | September 28, 2008, 2:23 pm 2:23 pm

Oops…I think my last post didn’t get through!
I’ll try again.
The Reliance Campaign poll and the Key polls are only snapshots.
Granted, they reflect what is happening that moment…but we need to focus on daily tracking polls, that average the last three or four days.
Yeah, Barack is slipping back down…but it’s only temporary.

Posted by: Carla | September 28, 2008, 2:26 pm 2:26 pm

STOP showing these depressing polls.
FRom now on, only post polls that we are ahead in!!!!!

Posted by: Obama is my man | September 28, 2008, 2:29 pm 2:29 pm

Yes!
I agree with Obama is my man.
You’re depressing us.
I have to see these polls on cable news 24 hours a day, please…not here too!
A little good news if you pleaase.

Posted by: California Girl | September 28, 2008, 2:31 pm 2:31 pm

I have a poll that’s good news, California Girl.
Obama is up in Vermont, by about 15 points.
That’s where I’m from!

Posted by: John Hart | September 28, 2008, 2:35 pm 2:35 pm

RE: polls. The Drudge Report has several thousand people email their opinion. That opinion was 2 to 1 in favor of McCain. The only other poll I heard was either CNN or CBS, and they polled 541 people in a studio, who watched the debate, and most were registered Democrats. I have no idea of how that question was posed, but the Drudge poll asked a simple, non skewered question, and it was simply, who do you think won the debate..and you had a simple yes or no button to click…I would be more inclined to think that would be more accurate.
Re: Obama being up in Vermont 15 points….Vermont is a State filled with real Vermonters, and New Faux-Vermonters…people with money who came in from NY, California and other States. The “real” people in Vermont are a lot like the Cutters in Breaking Away…tired of being put down by the new moneyed elitist.. The new moneyed elitist must have been the ones who were polled because I recently took an informal poll, of native Vermonters, and found a great deal of conservative support among them. Guess none of them were polled.

OBAMA’s poll numbers keep going up because CNN is polling more and more Democrats!
Too bad they don’t say this at the beginning, but they wait until somewhere near the end to qualify the poll results.
This is like FOX claiming McCain’s poll numbers keep going up – after polling only FOX viewers
I miss the old CNN – there is no longer anyplace to get real news anymore.

Well said, LB. How about Obama’s “Truth Squads”?!? If anyone needs a truth squad, it’s this lying POS out of Chicago and his mobster friends.
And NO more BusHitler jokes. Obama will oppress you like he is right now in Missouri & Illinois: suing radio stations, threatening television licenses and squashing local dialogue. Barack Obama: Working overtime to deconstruct the Constitution. Vote no to Socialism.

WARNING: Democratic congress had registered many illegal voters to vote for Obama by giving them no-income mortgages by ACORN and Fannie Mae!
Most of them are blacks or minorities.
Obama is a fraud and the #2 RECIPIENT of lobbying fund$ from Fannie and Freddie!! Flip flop, flip flop, lie, cheat $teal, change hope!

A recent BBC worldwide survey of over 22,000 global citizens found that over 90% said that Barack Obama should be the next President. The whole world can’t be wrong! VOTE OBAMA!!!!
If McBush wins the election and has health problems (he’s 72 years old, had cancer 3 times and is on 6 different meds), this random Palin woman will be President. What is her international experience? “I can see Russia from my house”. YEAH…THAT’S WHO YOU WANT LEADING YOUR COUNTRY (sarcasm). I HOPE AMERICANS WAKE UP! Remember the headline of London’s Daily Mirror newspaper back in 2004 when Americans re-elected Bush: HOW CAN 59 MILLION PEOPLE BE SO DUMB?

In case you didn’t notice 91 DEMOCRATS Voted Today Against the bailout bill….So why would Pelosi even bring the bill to the table if her own didn’t want it. The Dem’s had plenty of votes to pass it.
