The only way the sex-obsessed Democrats would be happy is if the RNC had shopped for Governor Palin at Victoria’s Secret. As a Democrat, even I am appalled by the left’s obsession with Sarah’s looks.
At least she wears those clothes well. That’s more than the Dems can claim for their gals.

Real joke, that is the reformer who has asked tax payers for reimbursement of nights spent in her own home and for the travel of her multiple children to attend events where they were not invited nor welcome. Now RNC and McSame are spending USD 150000 for Sarah’s clothes and McSame is complaining about WBush’s deficits. What a joke. God save America from McSame and Sarah Miss Congeniality Palin.

I really feel sorry for Palin. Imagine you and your family looking great and someone announce that you have to return your clothes when the campaign is over.

Not sure why, but this reminds me our our WW2 “lend/lease” program to get arms to Britain before we entered the war.
You know, after they were done with those shells and bullets and stuff, they’d return them to us. At least, that’s what Americans reluctant to join the war were told.
So, really, does anyone believe those clothes and shoes and stuff would actually have been returned to the RNC, had this story not broken?

If she doesn’t dress well, you wiil trash her for her origin, so she has no choice but borrowing these clothes. Give it a rest.

People are losing their homes. $150k could buy a nice home in some parts of the country.
Spending this kind of money on clothes is an example of the excess in our country, the excess which the McCain/Palin campaign blames as one of the major factors causing our current economic crisis.
Has anyone in the MSM looked into exactly where all Barack Hussein Obama’s campaign money is coming from ? Anyone get a look at Obama’s medical records ? How about his doctoral dissertation; seems like an odd thing to want to keep hidden. We Americans still know almost nothing about this B.O. and yet the Main Stream Media continues to push him as “The Chosen One” WHY ?

Is it lending or renting?
Lend = you are receiving economic value, and should pay taxes on it.
Rent = you pay for the value you receive.
Great! Could someone please lend Michele Obama some clothes too! It looks like she fought Moms Mabley for the last item on clearance at Walmart.
Hey. Alaska isn’t going to be on the front line of fashion. It’s okay to help her with her wardrobe. Get a grip, lefties.
The RNC spent 4 plummer salaries, or 100 Obama suits, or 72 years worth of Edwards haircuts, or 8 years of the average American salary for clothes on one person. Guess what if they hadn’t been caught, you know they would of let her keep it.

And Sarah herself must feel like princess, gosh such nice stuff to wear. Are they eating better too? And I guess the RNC is paying for the air fares and the boyfriends trips also. All and all a pretty good deal. This has to be the first time for this to have happened who else could have had this much guts?

In 1987, John McCain cast several votes in an attempt to force the Reagan administration to meet with RENAMO1, a guerrilla organization in Mozambique that State Department officials at the time described as a “terrorist group,” 2 without requiring that the group meet any preconditions.
McCain’s support for RENAMO directly contradicts his attacks on opponent Barack Obama for having “worked closely with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers” and having “pledged to meet, without preconditions, with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea.” Senator Obama has made it clear that this policy does not extend to non-governmental organizations. In response to questions about the Palestinian militant group Hamas, Obama specified that “we should not be dealing with them until they … renounce terrorism.”
And when the favorites Palin/McCain win the election, won’t Palin still be in need of a fancy wardrobe?
So will the RNC extend the loan for 4 more years? 8 more years? 12 or 16 more years? (you know, when she becomes president after McCain’s 8 years are up)
Should we expect annual RNC clothing loans to continually refresh her wardrobe?
All tax free?
I think Joe-the-plumber/rocket scientist would approve of this as long as you don’t raise his taxes.

how in the world do you know about moms?
I know when michelle become first lady
the designers will go to work on her.
god bless her, we know this is all new to her, and i know she must want to be original, but oprah, vogue, and essence need to do a little girlfriend talk with her.
now that she know how much has been spent on palin, maybe she will have the nerve to tell someone, “I need to go shopping too” and someone give obama a new pair of shoes, i saw some shoes on his feet last night, that needed some taps on the heels, i thought the mark on the bottom of the shoes was some kind of designer logo i had not seen before, and when i looked closer i saw, i had seen that logo before, about forty years ago in my own shoes, it was the hitting the pavement to much logo.
palin- is the gov. of a state-she was not looking bad in the clothes she was wearing,
the shame here is the trying to fool the people into voting for them.
she, mccain and the rnc, wanted to pass her off as a just like you hockey mom,
and all the time they didn’t think she looked good enough, so they went shopping for her.
she sold her soul right there,
when someone came to her and said we need to get you some new clothes.
she should have said
“thanks, but no thanks, my clothes from alaska are just fine”
I am appalled by the left’s obsession with Sarah’s looks.

The only thing you GOP zombies are going to see post-election if McCain wins is the ugliest financial crash ever recorded in this country. You will have your Jesus warrior (Palin)to console you but not much else. Enjoy!
This is such a silly story. No one asks the big question. What educational reforms did William Ayers, the avowed Marxist with admitted leanings toward Anarchy, promote and accomplish while serving on the Annenberg Foundation?
What specific reforms did the Annenberg Challenge mandate? What charter schools were opened? Why did Hugo Chavez give William Ayers an award for education reform?
How did William Ayers, the Marxist, spend the 50 million dollars given to him by the Annenberg Foundation, chaired by Barack Obama?
Doesn’t anyone want to know how a Marxist (by Ayers’ own description) reforms American education? I want to hear specifics!

Yeah, the $150K in clothing is being lent to Palin, just like the unreported gifts she received as Governor. Don’t hold your breath.
It’s still hard to believe how that much money could be spent. The only real difference between an $800 dress and an $8,000 is the label. It’s mostly about showing off and status. You got to wonder how they will use our tax dollars, if they do get into office.
If these clothes really were loaners, why would they spend so much? Nobody spends this type of money on possessions that they merely rent.

two things i know for sure
george bush with the support of john mccain 90percent of the time has done a job on this country
george bush sunk mccain chance of becoming president before and he has done it again
Mrs. Obama pays for her own clothes at Gap, H&M and a local designer from Chicago. She’s on People and Vanity Fair’s “best dressed” lists. She managed to get there without having a Daddy leave $100 million or a Robocall Fairy Godfather pay $150,000 for sprees at Needless Markup, Saks and Barney’s.
It blows my mind that the Republicans have done something so stupid that it’s dominated the news cycle for at least two days two weeks before the election. Makes you wonder if they want to lose. Sashaying around in someone else’s $2,400 Valentino jacket kind of undermines the Palin Joe 6 pack, Joe the Plumber, Hockey Mom message.
I can hardly wait to pick up an authentic “Witless from Wasilla” used designer jacket from my local Goodwill Store. But how do they plan to donate the $8,000 hair and makeup. Ya Betcha!

Obama campaign has $604 million and still asking for $10 from each of his supporters who make, what? $10,000-$50,000 a yr with families to support and bills to pay. Why are they so worried about $150,000 in clothes that Palin needs for special events? According to her tax records she falls into the middle class range, she is not a millionaire.
If she were not wearing the proper attire, she would be slammed for that too.
There are more important issues to talk about than how much money is spent on borrowed clothes.

Why haven’t you made a big deal out of the money that Obama has spent on buying this election and the fact that he went back on his campaign promise to take the federal funds?
Since Obama wants to share everyone’s wealth, I suggest that he start by giving the McCain camp half of his $150 million. This way he can lead by example and we will know he really means it.
This is only a big deal because the left and the media are making a big deal out of it.
The American people DO NOT CARE!!!!!

s adams,
the palins do very well for themselves.
the problem is she claims to her supporters she is joe six pack, and joe the plumber, and a hockey mom,
and if that is true, then her own clothes should have been good enough
she didn’t NEED 140k in clothes.
i am watching brian williams interview
with mccain and palin-and john mccain looks like he can hardly stand to here her voice.
and i don’t think she is liking him to much either,
sarah palin was a popular politician in her circles, she must feel upset that mccain is dragging her down.
I’m thinking of what to buy my wife for Christmas and being I’m not having a very good year…economy and all that other stuff, you know…I seriously want to know which charity they are going to give the clothes to. I’d like to be first in line for that outfit from SACs 5th avenue (sorry can’t spell that one cause I never could afford to buy this stuff before now)…let’s face it a bum wouldn’t look good in them and my wife needs them more.

You liberals are nuts! You worry about $150,000.00 for clothing that will be auctioned off and bring more than what they spent!
How about somebody reporting how Joe Biden gave over 1.2 Million to his family from his funds during his failed campaign run for president.
Uh… Being a governor, didn’t she have to dress the part? In other words she should have already had clothes.
I see an SNL skit coming… “The Emperess’s New Clothes”
For $150K I could have probably bought me more than 365 new outfits. One for every day of the year.
But representing the interests of the rich like Republicans do; I guess you need to look the part…
How many hockey mom’s or Joe Six-packs do you know that get to spend $49K at Saks and $75K at Neimans?
Ms. Plainspeak has y’all fooled dontcha know… You betcha!
“The race is on now?”
that is what the rabbit told the turtle,
and you know who won that race.
the race has always been on for obama
the straight talk express has taken to many pit stops.
it was flat-then came palin
it started going flat again-then they grabbed joe the plumber-
now they are looking for a “willie horton”
mccain and co. will do anything to try and win.
If Sarah Palin had not spent the last 6 weeks pretending to be “every woman” and concocting a fake working class accent (my Mom who WAS working class and refused to ever talk that way as a matter of pride) and told us all how she is just like us and understands our pain – then I agree completely. Her clothes would be way off limits. But she did not. The whole reason she is up there on the stage is because she is supposed to represent small towns and every day Americans and cutting government waste and excess. Every day Americans do not shop Saks and wear Valentino. Right now, I’m not even shopping at all, for my daughter or myself. This is the worst economic crisis in our lifetimes and the RNC thinks its a good idea to spend $150,000 on CLOTHES? It is an election issue. And nobody can even figure out how they managed to spend that much money. Excess, I guess. And a myopic view of what real Americans live like. It sounds like a lobbyist did it. Maybe he thinks that’s what normal American women do in a recession.

the problem is sarah palin and the rnc
have passed her off as something she is not.
or they wanted to send one message to the suckers, while saying something else behind their back
now either she is a hockey “just like you” mom and proud of it or she is not
she had nice enough clothes as gov.
she did not NEED new clothes and did the baby need a 90 dollar outfit from a designer baby boutique?
she should have said thanks but no thanks i believe the american people will like me just as i am.
it seem to me her own party decided
she was not good enough
Palin didn’t buy the clothes, the RNC got them for her for the campaign. But, once again, this shows the media bias, picking on some stupid thing like WARDROBE, when you sat on the story of Biden THREATENING ON NATIONAL SECURITY. Which one of these is bigger news to you? You should be ashamed.
But, since you brought it up, this is also yet another ridiculous double standard. If the male candidates wore the same suit every day, no one would notice, but if Palin did, then people woudl criticize her. What is wrong with having her look nice in her numerous speeches?
Furthermore, does anyone criticize the huge amounts of money that Michelle Obama spends for her wardrobe? And she is a useless part of the campaign.
And, if you want to talk about spending excess, does anyone criticize the DNC for the millions wasted on Obama’s truly forgetable and useless speech at Invesco? What a ridiculous waste of donor funds. So, Palin’s wardrobe, which can be reused and donated if necessary, is a waste, but Obama’s messiah complex is not a waste?
bias, and double standards, America is sick of it.
what i don’t understand is,
the rnc is pulling money out of local elections for people
how do those people who are trying to run at the local rep. level feel,
they don’t have enough money to compete and now palin preening and prancing around pretending to be something she is not. it is so sad and to bad for their rep. follows.
Its so funny to see right winger desperately try and turn the page on the campaign meltdown.
This is Dukakis in the Tank!

Yes, we are sick of it. A woman going around selling herself to America as middle class and understanding our pain with $150,000 in new clothes and make-up in two months. In addition she has a very nice home in Alaska built with a lot of highly questionable “favors”.
The only “hockey mom” I know who can afford $100 baby outfits and $150,000 in clothes is Janet Gretzky.
Hitler filled stadiums as well but that doesn’t mean he (nor Palin) aren’t dangerous.
McCain could have saved seven families from foreclosure (20k apiece) & had ten grand left over to spend on his hussy’s MILF costumes. But no… who cares about stuff like that anymore?
Furthermore, does anyone criticize the huge amounts of money that Michelle Obama spends for her wardrobe?

Seems to me that $150,000 worth of clothes would have to count as income. And since Palin doesn’t work for the Republican Party, how do they justify paying her?
No other candidates are allowed to use campaign money for clothes or even haircuts, (remember the flap about Edward’s haircuts?) Isn’t it against some law about using campaign money for personal use?
“Isn’t it against some law about using campaign money for personal use?”
Yes McCain-Feingold prohibits the campaign from spending money on personal items. Which is why the national party bought the clothes as opposed to the McCain campaign.

“How about his doctoral dissertation; seems like an odd thing to want to keep hidden. We Americans still know almost nothing about this B.O. ” Ron
Well Ron, the reason you have not seen a doctoral “disseration” (dissertation) is because Senator Obama didn’t write one. Its like this fellow – you graduate from law school with a juris doctorate. Law students do not write doctoral dissertations. They do however, have to pass a state bar exam and do have a doctorate when they graduate from law school.
If you don’t know much about Senator Obama it has to be because you have not bothered to find out. He has written TWO books about his life, has had numerous articles (many totally false) about him and has been on the political trail for almost two years. If you watch the news (other than FOX) you might just learn something about this man. Otherwise, you can just remain the same ignorant person you are right now.

“Obama could save everyone’s home from foreclossure with his $604 million in the bank and he’s asking for $10 more from each of his supporters, who have already given too much already.”
S Adams,
How much has the RNC spent?
How much has the McCain campaign spent of taxpyer money?
Right wingers went nuts over Edwards $400 haircut are now bending over to defend $150K in clothing.
Hypocrisy they name is right winger.

liberati….
“And she is a useless part of the campaign.”
And for a moment I thought you were talking about Palin.
So, you’re comparing Mr. Obama’s clothing to Sarah Palin’s clothing? First off, he’s the one running for President as is Mr. McCain, not the MOUTHPIECE. And then, why was money spent on her FAMILY? They aren’t running for squat, so what entitles them to have money spent on them?
It is my understanding that Ms. Obama buys her own clothes with money in their account. If I’m wrong, I apologize. But, if you are certain that the monies she spends on her clothes aren’t hers / theirs please direct me to a site or article that states otherwise.
If Michelle Obama is doing campaigning, then all her expenses are covered by the campaign. Michelle Obama is a bitter vindictive woman, who is not proud of America, and yes, a useless part of the campaign.
Palin’s rallies number in the 10′s of thousands in attendance. Not sure how you consider that useless, she has revived the GOP base, and made Americans proud again.
Obama buys his suits at Nordstrom and Bloomingdales. What is the difference between that and Saks?
Bigger news: Mayor Daley says that the price tag for Obama’s Obamafest on Election night will be 2 million.
TWO MILLION DOLLARS. For a rally for an election that has not even taken place, with no guarantees that he will win. And this is not campaign money, this is city taxpayer money, while many in the city go without proper utilities and health care.
DON’T EVEN TRY to compare all this wasteful spending on Obama to Palin’s wardrobe, which, again, is not Palin’s spending, but the RNC.
The saddest part of all of this is the almost billion dollars in Obama donations that will go to waste, as this criminal will prove to be a fraud and lose the election.
President McCain has saved this country from enemies before, and he will do it again on Nov 4th. We owe him, as with all our veterans, our sacred trust and gratitude.
“Palin’s rallies number in the 10′s of thousands in attendance. Not sure how you consider that useless, she has revived the GOP base, and made Americans proud again.”
She rallied the base alright and drove away independents and women. Nearly 60% of Americans think she is unqualified for the job. Not sure how that is defined as pride.
“Obama buys his suits at Nordstrom and Bloomingdales.”
Obama’s suits are made by a Chicago area suit maker.
And he pays for them himself. Not the campaign.
Campaigns are not allowed to pay for personal items such as clothing under McCain Feingold. Which is why the RNC had to buy it.
“President McCain has saved this country from enemies before,”
How many enemies has McCain saved us from?
The answer to that is ZERO.
The lesson as always? Right winger lie.

Like Iraq? and all those WMD’s?
First of all, I am a campaign volunteer and wish to reaffirm my absolute support for Senator Obama. It remains to be determined if it was illegal/unethical for the RNC to pay for Sarah Palin’s outfits. But the fact that all these outfits together cost $150K should not be a real issue. First of all, this is a candidate for VP of the Country. As a guy, even I know women’s dress clothes are ridiculously expensive. It is understandable that the campaign chose some of the most expensive outfits because appearance influences image and image is everything. The only irony here is that the McCain campaign painted Obama as an elitist and a celebrity. Besides, I never bought into the narrative of ‘supremely-qualified, working-class, Wal-Mart-shopping, blue-collar, aw-shucks, hockey-mom’ in the first place. There are more important issues to discuss (that directly affect people’s lives) rather than the price tag of the VP candidate’s duds!

Why haven’t you made a big deal out of the money that Obama has spent on buying this election and the fact that he went back on his campaign promise to take the federal funds?

Was it your money?
Who did he buy it from? Now, we all go back on previous ideas, or plans. It’s called CHANGING YOUR MIND!!!!

Wait, all us “little people” donanted small amounts of our money to him and somehow he is buying our votes?
hmmm…Must be more republican economic theory
Of Palin, Broecker said, “In speaking with her, I had to get her to understand why she needed to wear the same thing as Tina [Fey]. We had gone off and created it for the first time a month ago, a look we identified as Sarah Palin. She had moved on in her own image of herself. I said, ‘I know you’ve moved on you’re wearing tighter clothes, more black but this is the character of Sarah Palin.”
The compromise, he said, was Palin returning in her own clothes the second time she appeared on the show to cheer on Amy Poehler’s Palin-themed rap.

Ryan C — McCain has fought for this country in the war. If you don’t think that risking your life in our military is defending our country from our enemies, then you have just disrespected every veteran.
But, like Obama and all his supporters, anyone can be thrown under the bus to protect your argument, right?
Interesting that you didn’t comment at all on the WASTE that Chicago has to spend for Obama’s litle love fest in grant park. Even Mayor Daley, in the tank for Obama, suggested that it be in the United Center, but that was too small for Obama’s ego, so waste waste waste…..wasting valuable police resources, logistical, etc.
Anything for your messiah, right?
It is well documented that mcCain has fought for this country. We owe him our respect and gratitude.
What has Obama done for this country?
ZERO ZERO ZERO ZERO ZERO ZERO ZERO
Oh wait, he befriended a terrorist, and sat in an antiAmerican racist church for 20 years. But that’s ok in your book.
“McCain has fought for this country in the war. If you don’t think that risking your life in our military is defending our country from our enemies”
Vietnam was not our enemy.
Neither is Iraq.

MCCAIN: I’ve received every award from every major veteran’s organization in America. I received every organization in America their awards. … The reason why I have a perfect voting record from organizations like the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and all the other veterans service organizations is because of my support of them. […]
VETERAN: You do not have a perfect voting record by the DAV and the VFW. That’s where these votes were recorded. These votes were proposals by your colleagues in the Senate to increase health care of the VA in 2003, 4, 5, and 6 for troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. And you voted against those proposals. […]
MCCAIN: I’ve been endorsed in every election by every veterans organization that do that, I’ve been supported by them, and I’ve received their highest awards from all of those organizations. So I guess they don’t know something you know.
McCain lies about his veterans support to a veteran.

hmm.
I run a small Internet business and when I process credit cards I’m required to make sure the name on the card exactly matches the name of the customer making the purchase. Also, the purchaser’s address must match that of the cardholders. If these don’t match, then the payment isn’t approved. Period. So how is it possible that the Obama campaign could receive donations from fictional people and places? Well, I decided to do a little experiment.
Then I checked the box next to $15 and entered my actual credit card number and expiration date (it didn’t ask for the 3-didgit code on the back of the card) and it took me to the next page and… “Your donation has been processed. Thank you for your generous gift.”
Our reader was not yet done. He tried the experiment on the McCain site: “I tried the exact same thing at the McCain site and it didn’t allow the transaction.” He then repeated the experiment at the Obama site:
I went back to the Obama site and made three additional donations using the names Osama Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein and Bill Ayers, all with different addresses. All the transactions went through using the same credit card. I saved screenshots of the transactions.

Paying for such expensive clothes cna create some isses. But as much as I don’t approve of who Sarah Palin is and the lack of her honesty and integirty- I am not going to touch clothes issues
I will want public knowledge re: is she going to pay taxes on these gifts or pay rental?? Tax expert opinions vary.
She sure is not hockey mom!!! Not Target shopper!! Not everybody’s everyday Mom!!!
Candidate do need to present an image, but when conflicts exist not wise to portray that portrait.
Go Obama – Biden!!
Candidate do need to present an image, but when conflicts exist not wise to portray that portrait.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I agree somewhat, but the clothes were bought by the RNC, not Mrs. Palin. Probably not a wise move, but that was their doing, not hers. She probably will have to pay taxes , as in gift taxes, but when the campaign , and election is over, the clothes are being donated to charity.
While I’m sure it won’t be put out there, Obama’s suits, aren’t off the rack either. They are custom fitted suits, and very nice suits at that.
Clinton held up an entire airport, on the tax payers dime, to get a hair cut.
Biden obviously has had hair weaves, or plugs. If you look at earlier pics of him, he had less hair 20 years ago, then he does now. lol.
Considering the ages of some of them….*cough* Pelosi *cough* look pretty dang good as well.
Now whether they used their wealth, or that of the DNC or whatever…who cares.
The RNC bought them, they will be donated to charity in a few weeks, so what ever.
Obama’ made $150 million last month alone, more this month, is asking for more, and charging the press to cover his venue on election night. To me, that is more unbelievable than the clothes.
And if everyone is looking at the economy being bad, to weigh their argument, and the economy is as bad as Obama’s been touting….then how is it, he made $150 million in a month, from people in only this country? I thought everyone was so hard up?
Makes absolutely no sense.
House Democrats recently invited Teresa Ghilarducci, a professor at the New School of Social Research, to testify before a subcommittee on her idea to eliminate the preferential tax treatment of the popular retirement plans. In place of 401(k) plans, she would have workers transfer their dough into government-created “guaranteed retirement accounts” for every worker. The government would deposit $600 (inflation indexed) every year into the GRAs. Each worker would also have to save 5 percent of pay into the accounts, to which the government would pay a measly 3 percent return. Rep. Jim McDermott, a Democrat from Washington and chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee’s Subcommittee on Income Security and Family Support, said that since “the savings rate isn’t going up for the investment of $80 billion [in 401(k) tax breaks], we have to start to think about whether or not we want to continue to invest that $80 billion for a policy that’s not generating what we now say it should.”
What effect would this plan have on an already battered stock market? Well, I would imagine it would send it even lower, sticking a shiv into the portfolios of everyone who didn’t jump aboard. But I am sure the Chinese would love to jump in and buy all our cheap stocks to fund the retirement of their citizens.
“While I’m sure it won’t be put out there, Obama’s suits, aren’t off the rack either. They are custom fitted suits, and very nice suits at that.”
Yes but he pays for them.
Campaigns are not allowed to pay for personal items like clothing under McCain Feingold.
They’re not supposed to take illegal contributions either…and while some have been refunded, as records show, some haven’t been refunded…..yet.
Full transparency is what’s needed…why not give it? It’s not like they have to be made public, but why not at least make full disclosure to the FEC?
Campaigns are not allowed to pay for personal items like clothing under McCain Feingold.
========================================
I don’t think Palin knows what McCain Feingold is….She probably thinks it’s a brand of beer..
More than anything the $150,000 spent on clothes shows how phony Republicans really how. A hockey mom need $150,000 worth of clothes and accessories. Palin is a sham. Just like George W. Bush. They were trying package her as the average mom same as they packaged GWB as a guy you would like to have a beer with. These people are nothing but shameless politicians. End of story. I am not naive enough to think Obama and Biden also. But, Republicans were caught this time with their phonyism and for me it is about time. They deserve all the negative press they get on this. An issue it is not. But, it does provide insight into how Republicans are oblivious to what is going on with working families today…
Yesterday the McCain camp said they where giving the cloths to charity ?
Being leant means your giving them back right ?
You know, after they were done with those shells and bullets and stuff, they’d return them to us. At least, that’s what Americans reluctant to join the war were told.
So, really, does anyone believe those clothes and shoes and stuff would actually have been returned to the RNC, had this story not broken?
People are losing their homes. $150k could buy a nice home in some parts of the country.
Spending this kind of money on clothes is an example of the excess in our country, the excess which the McCain/Palin campaign blames as one of the major factors causing our current economic crisis.
In 1987, John McCain cast several votes in an attempt to force the Reagan administration to meet with RENAMO1, a guerrilla organization in Mozambique that State Department officials at the time described as a “terrorist group,” 2 without requiring that the group meet any preconditions.
McCain’s support for RENAMO directly contradicts his attacks on opponent Barack Obama for having “worked closely with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers” and having “pledged to meet, without preconditions, with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea.” Senator Obama has made it clear that this policy does not extend to non-governmental organizations. In response to questions about the Palestinian militant group Hamas, Obama specified that “we should not be dealing with them until they … renounce terrorism.”
So will the RNC extend the loan for 4 more years? 8 more years? 12 or 16 more years? (you know, when she becomes president after McCain’s 8 years are up)
Should we expect annual RNC clothing loans to continually refresh her wardrobe?
All tax free?
I know when michelle become first lady
the designers will go to work on her.
god bless her, we know this is all new to her, and i know she must want to be original, but oprah, vogue, and essence need to do a little girlfriend talk with her.
now that she know how much has been spent on palin, maybe she will have the nerve to tell someone, “I need to go shopping too” and someone give obama a new pair of shoes, i saw some shoes on his feet last night, that needed some taps on the heels, i thought the mark on the bottom of the shoes was some kind of designer logo i had not seen before, and when i looked closer i saw, i had seen that logo before, about forty years ago in my own shoes, it was the hitting the pavement to much logo.
palin- is the gov. of a state-she was not looking bad in the clothes she was wearing,
the shame here is the trying to fool the people into voting for them.
she, mccain and the rnc, wanted to pass her off as a just like you hockey mom,
and all the time they didn’t think she looked good enough, so they went shopping for her.
she sold her soul right there,
when someone came to her and said we need to get you some new clothes.
she should have said
“thanks, but no thanks, my clothes from alaska are just fine”
This is such a silly story. No one asks the big question. What educational reforms did William Ayers, the avowed Marxist with admitted leanings toward Anarchy, promote and accomplish while serving on the Annenberg Foundation?
What specific reforms did the Annenberg Challenge mandate? What charter schools were opened? Why did Hugo Chavez give William Ayers an award for education reform?
How did William Ayers, the Marxist, spend the 50 million dollars given to him by the Annenberg Foundation, chaired by Barack Obama?
Doesn’t anyone want to know how a Marxist (by Ayers’ own description) reforms American education? I want to hear specifics!
Yeah, the $150K in clothing is being lent to Palin, just like the unreported gifts she received as Governor. Don’t hold your breath.
It’s still hard to believe how that much money could be spent. The only real difference between an $800 dress and an $8,000 is the label. It’s mostly about showing off and status. You got to wonder how they will use our tax dollars, if they do get into office.
If these clothes really were loaners, why would they spend so much? Nobody spends this type of money on possessions that they merely rent.
Mrs. Obama pays for her own clothes at Gap, H&M and a local designer from Chicago. She’s on People and Vanity Fair’s “best dressed” lists. She managed to get there without having a Daddy leave $100 million or a Robocall Fairy Godfather pay $150,000 for sprees at Needless Markup, Saks and Barney’s.
It blows my mind that the Republicans have done something so stupid that it’s dominated the news cycle for at least two days two weeks before the election. Makes you wonder if they want to lose. Sashaying around in someone else’s $2,400 Valentino jacket kind of undermines the Palin Joe 6 pack, Joe the Plumber, Hockey Mom message.
Obama campaign has $604 million and still asking for $10 from each of his supporters who make, what? $10,000-$50,000 a yr with families to support and bills to pay. Why are they so worried about $150,000 in clothes that Palin needs for special events? According to her tax records she falls into the middle class range, she is not a millionaire.
If she were not wearing the proper attire, she would be slammed for that too.
There are more important issues to talk about than how much money is spent on borrowed clothes.
If Sarah Palin had not spent the last 6 weeks pretending to be “every woman” and concocting a fake working class accent (my Mom who WAS working class and refused to ever talk that way as a matter of pride) and told us all how she is just like us and understands our pain – then I agree completely. Her clothes would be way off limits. But she did not. The whole reason she is up there on the stage is because she is supposed to represent small towns and every day Americans and cutting government waste and excess. Every day Americans do not shop Saks and wear Valentino. Right now, I’m not even shopping at all, for my daughter or myself. This is the worst economic crisis in our lifetimes and the RNC thinks its a good idea to spend $150,000 on CLOTHES? It is an election issue. And nobody can even figure out how they managed to spend that much money. Excess, I guess. And a myopic view of what real Americans live like. It sounds like a lobbyist did it. Maybe he thinks that’s what normal American women do in a recession.
Palin didn’t buy the clothes, the RNC got them for her for the campaign. But, once again, this shows the media bias, picking on some stupid thing like WARDROBE, when you sat on the story of Biden THREATENING ON NATIONAL SECURITY. Which one of these is bigger news to you? You should be ashamed.
But, since you brought it up, this is also yet another ridiculous double standard. If the male candidates wore the same suit every day, no one would notice, but if Palin did, then people woudl criticize her. What is wrong with having her look nice in her numerous speeches?
Furthermore, does anyone criticize the huge amounts of money that Michelle Obama spends for her wardrobe? And she is a useless part of the campaign.
And, if you want to talk about spending excess, does anyone criticize the DNC for the millions wasted on Obama’s truly forgetable and useless speech at Invesco? What a ridiculous waste of donor funds. So, Palin’s wardrobe, which can be reused and donated if necessary, is a waste, but Obama’s messiah complex is not a waste?
bias, and double standards, America is sick of it.
No other candidates are allowed to use campaign money for clothes or even haircuts, (remember the flap about Edward’s haircuts?) Isn’t it against some law about using campaign money for personal use?
“How about his doctoral dissertation; seems like an odd thing to want to keep hidden. We Americans still know almost nothing about this B.O. ” Ron
Well Ron, the reason you have not seen a doctoral “disseration” (dissertation) is because Senator Obama didn’t write one. Its like this fellow – you graduate from law school with a juris doctorate. Law students do not write doctoral dissertations. They do however, have to pass a state bar exam and do have a doctorate when they graduate from law school.
If you don’t know much about Senator Obama it has to be because you have not bothered to find out. He has written TWO books about his life, has had numerous articles (many totally false) about him and has been on the political trail for almost two years. If you watch the news (other than FOX) you might just learn something about this man. Otherwise, you can just remain the same ignorant person you are right now.
“And she is a useless part of the campaign.”
And for a moment I thought you were talking about Palin.
So, you’re comparing Mr. Obama’s clothing to Sarah Palin’s clothing? First off, he’s the one running for President as is Mr. McCain, not the MOUTHPIECE. And then, why was money spent on her FAMILY? They aren’t running for squat, so what entitles them to have money spent on them?
It is my understanding that Ms. Obama buys her own clothes with money in their account. If I’m wrong, I apologize. But, if you are certain that the monies she spends on her clothes aren’t hers / theirs please direct me to a site or article that states otherwise.
If Michelle Obama is doing campaigning, then all her expenses are covered by the campaign. Michelle Obama is a bitter vindictive woman, who is not proud of America, and yes, a useless part of the campaign.
Palin’s rallies number in the 10′s of thousands in attendance. Not sure how you consider that useless, she has revived the GOP base, and made Americans proud again.
Obama buys his suits at Nordstrom and Bloomingdales. What is the difference between that and Saks?
Bigger news: Mayor Daley says that the price tag for Obama’s Obamafest on Election night will be 2 million.
TWO MILLION DOLLARS. For a rally for an election that has not even taken place, with no guarantees that he will win. And this is not campaign money, this is city taxpayer money, while many in the city go without proper utilities and health care.
DON’T EVEN TRY to compare all this wasteful spending on Obama to Palin’s wardrobe, which, again, is not Palin’s spending, but the RNC.
The saddest part of all of this is the almost billion dollars in Obama donations that will go to waste, as this criminal will prove to be a fraud and lose the election.
President McCain has saved this country from enemies before, and he will do it again on Nov 4th. We owe him, as with all our veterans, our sacred trust and gratitude.
“Palin’s rallies number in the 10′s of thousands in attendance. Not sure how you consider that useless, she has revived the GOP base, and made Americans proud again.”
She rallied the base alright and drove away independents and women. Nearly 60% of Americans think she is unqualified for the job. Not sure how that is defined as pride.
“Obama buys his suits at Nordstrom and Bloomingdales.”
Obama’s suits are made by a Chicago area suit maker.
And he pays for them himself. Not the campaign.
Campaigns are not allowed to pay for personal items such as clothing under McCain Feingold. Which is why the RNC had to buy it.
“President McCain has saved this country from enemies before,”
First of all, I am a campaign volunteer and wish to reaffirm my absolute support for Senator Obama. It remains to be determined if it was illegal/unethical for the RNC to pay for Sarah Palin’s outfits. But the fact that all these outfits together cost $150K should not be a real issue. First of all, this is a candidate for VP of the Country. As a guy, even I know women’s dress clothes are ridiculously expensive. It is understandable that the campaign chose some of the most expensive outfits because appearance influences image and image is everything. The only irony here is that the McCain campaign painted Obama as an elitist and a celebrity. Besides, I never bought into the narrative of ‘supremely-qualified, working-class, Wal-Mart-shopping, blue-collar, aw-shucks, hockey-mom’ in the first place. There are more important issues to discuss (that directly affect people’s lives) rather than the price tag of the VP candidate’s duds!
Of Palin, Broecker said, “In speaking with her, I had to get her to understand why she needed to wear the same thing as Tina [Fey]. We had gone off and created it for the first time a month ago, a look we identified as Sarah Palin. She had moved on in her own image of herself. I said, ‘I know you’ve moved on you’re wearing tighter clothes, more black but this is the character of Sarah Palin.”
The compromise, he said, was Palin returning in her own clothes the second time she appeared on the show to cheer on Amy Poehler’s Palin-themed rap.
Ryan C — McCain has fought for this country in the war. If you don’t think that risking your life in our military is defending our country from our enemies, then you have just disrespected every veteran.
But, like Obama and all his supporters, anyone can be thrown under the bus to protect your argument, right?
Interesting that you didn’t comment at all on the WASTE that Chicago has to spend for Obama’s litle love fest in grant park. Even Mayor Daley, in the tank for Obama, suggested that it be in the United Center, but that was too small for Obama’s ego, so waste waste waste…..wasting valuable police resources, logistical, etc.
“McCain has fought for this country in the war. If you don’t think that risking your life in our military is defending our country from our enemies”
Vietnam was not our enemy.
Neither is Iraq.
MCCAIN: I’ve received every award from every major veteran’s organization in America. I received every organization in America their awards. … The reason why I have a perfect voting record from organizations like the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and all the other veterans service organizations is because of my support of them. […]
VETERAN: You do not have a perfect voting record by the DAV and the VFW. That’s where these votes were recorded. These votes were proposals by your colleagues in the Senate to increase health care of the VA in 2003, 4, 5, and 6 for troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. And you voted against those proposals. […]
MCCAIN: I’ve been endorsed in every election by every veterans organization that do that, I’ve been supported by them, and I’ve received their highest awards from all of those organizations. So I guess they don’t know something you know.
McCain lies about his veterans support to a veteran.
hmm.
I run a small Internet business and when I process credit cards I’m required to make sure the name on the card exactly matches the name of the customer making the purchase. Also, the purchaser’s address must match that of the cardholders. If these don’t match, then the payment isn’t approved. Period. So how is it possible that the Obama campaign could receive donations from fictional people and places? Well, I decided to do a little experiment.
Then I checked the box next to $15 and entered my actual credit card number and expiration date (it didn’t ask for the 3-didgit code on the back of the card) and it took me to the next page and… “Your donation has been processed. Thank you for your generous gift.”
Our reader was not yet done. He tried the experiment on the McCain site: “I tried the exact same thing at the McCain site and it didn’t allow the transaction.” He then repeated the experiment at the Obama site:
I went back to the Obama site and made three additional donations using the names Osama Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein and Bill Ayers, all with different addresses. All the transactions went through using the same credit card. I saved screenshots of the transactions.
All it would take is for the site admin, to set it up, to NOT accept these types, or foreign contributions.
Paying for such expensive clothes cna create some isses. But as much as I don’t approve of who Sarah Palin is and the lack of her honesty and integirty- I am not going to touch clothes issues
I will want public knowledge re: is she going to pay taxes on these gifts or pay rental?? Tax expert opinions vary.
She sure is not hockey mom!!! Not Target shopper!! Not everybody’s everyday Mom!!!
Candidate do need to present an image, but when conflicts exist not wise to portray that portrait.
I agree somewhat, but the clothes were bought by the RNC, not Mrs. Palin. Probably not a wise move, but that was their doing, not hers. She probably will have to pay taxes , as in gift taxes, but when the campaign , and election is over, the clothes are being donated to charity.
While I’m sure it won’t be put out there, Obama’s suits, aren’t off the rack either. They are custom fitted suits, and very nice suits at that.
Clinton held up an entire airport, on the tax payers dime, to get a hair cut.
Biden obviously has had hair weaves, or plugs. If you look at earlier pics of him, he had less hair 20 years ago, then he does now. lol.
Considering the ages of some of them….*cough* Pelosi *cough* look pretty dang good as well.
Now whether they used their wealth, or that of the DNC or whatever…who cares.
The RNC bought them, they will be donated to charity in a few weeks, so what ever.
Obama’ made $150 million last month alone, more this month, is asking for more, and charging the press to cover his venue on election night. To me, that is more unbelievable than the clothes.
And if everyone is looking at the economy being bad, to weigh their argument, and the economy is as bad as Obama’s been touting….then how is it, he made $150 million in a month, from people in only this country? I thought everyone was so hard up?
Makes absolutely no sense.
House Democrats recently invited Teresa Ghilarducci, a professor at the New School of Social Research, to testify before a subcommittee on her idea to eliminate the preferential tax treatment of the popular retirement plans. In place of 401(k) plans, she would have workers transfer their dough into government-created “guaranteed retirement accounts” for every worker. The government would deposit $600 (inflation indexed) every year into the GRAs. Each worker would also have to save 5 percent of pay into the accounts, to which the government would pay a measly 3 percent return. Rep. Jim McDermott, a Democrat from Washington and chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee’s Subcommittee on Income Security and Family Support, said that since “the savings rate isn’t going up for the investment of $80 billion [in 401(k) tax breaks], we have to start to think about whether or not we want to continue to invest that $80 billion for a policy that’s not generating what we now say it should.”
What effect would this plan have on an already battered stock market? Well, I would imagine it would send it even lower, sticking a shiv into the portfolios of everyone who didn’t jump aboard. But I am sure the Chinese would love to jump in and buy all our cheap stocks to fund the retirement of their citizens.
Yes but he pays for them.
Campaigns are not allowed to pay for personal items like clothing under McCain Feingold.
They’re not supposed to take illegal contributions either…and while some have been refunded, as records show, some haven’t been refunded…..yet.
Full transparency is what’s needed…why not give it? It’s not like they have to be made public, but why not at least make full disclosure to the FEC?
More than anything the $150,000 spent on clothes shows how phony Republicans really how. A hockey mom need $150,000 worth of clothes and accessories. Palin is a sham. Just like George W. Bush. They were trying package her as the average mom same as they packaged GWB as a guy you would like to have a beer with. These people are nothing but shameless politicians. End of story. I am not naive enough to think Obama and Biden also. But, Republicans were caught this time with their phonyism and for me it is about time. They deserve all the negative press they get on this. An issue it is not. But, it does provide insight into how Republicans are oblivious to what is going on with working families today…
