A Limited Dose of Brotherly Love

ABC News’ John Berman, Sunlen Miller, and Ursula Fahy report: Sen. Barack Obama said he appreciated Sen. John McCain’s recent call to temper the rhetoric, immediately before dispensing a dose of rhetoric.

Obama told a Philadelphia crowd, "I want to acknowledge that Sen. McCain tried to tone down the rhetoric in his town hall meeting yesterday, and I appreciated his reminder that we can disagree while still being respectful of each other."

This come on the heels of a surreal McCain campaign event in Minnesota, where the Arizona senator seemed to try to tamp down the very fervor of his supporters that his campaign had seemed to foment the last week.  "We want to fight and I will fight, but we will be respectful," said McCain.
I admire Sen. Obama and his accomplishments."

McCain had spent the week derisively asking, "who is Barack Obama?" and his running mate Sarah Palin said he had been, "paling around with terrorists."  But after listening to supporters say they are scared, and a days of angry, sometimes violent shouts from his crowds, McCain said "I have to tell you, [Obama]  is a decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared as president of the United States."

Today, Obama acknowledged McCain’s shifting tone and offered, "Sen. McCain has served this country with honor, and he deserves our thanks for that."

But speaking to the Philadelphia crowd, the brotherly love only went so far, "when it comes to the economy," Obama said, "and what families here in Pennsylvania are going through, Sen. McCain still doesn’t get it."

And he ribbed McCain’s campaign manager Rick Davis for comments made on a conference call yesterday explaining why McCain did not comment during Wall Street’s giant sell-off on Thursday.  "there’s very little a candidate for president and, frankly, after watching today, very little even the president can say about what’s happening in the stock markets other than to hope that, you know, they correct themselves," said Davis.  Obama mocked this as the McCain camp’s continuing effort to "turn the page on the economy."

And didn’t seem to cut McCain any slack for his call for a respectful tone, continuing to charge the McCain campaign is trying to change the subject from the economy to questions of character.

"The last few days, we’ve seen a barrage of nasty insinuations and attacks, and I’m sure we’ll see much more over the next 24 days."

But Obama promised, "they can run misleading ads, and pursue the politics of anything goes, and try to change the subject," but, he said, "it’s not gonna work, not this time."

In effort to make sure it doesn’t work, and perhaps a sign that they are worried it might, the Obama campaign released a new campaign commercial directly responding to some of the more recent charges from the McCain campaign, including his ties to Weather Underground bomber Bill Ayers, and also the Chicago political machine.

In the add entitled "Lose," first reported by ABC’s Jake Tapper, a narrator says "John McCain admits if the election is about the economy, he’s going to lose."

And closes with the line, "It’s clear…with no plan to fix our economy…smears are all John McCain has left."

Isn’t that the way it has been from the beginning with Hillary, stir the pot, call people names when they get upset and say something back. Oh how well he learned his Alinsky lessons.

“Yes we can”? Stolen slogan from ACORN of all things!!! Check out the informational video – it’s that organization’s chant. Move it up to the 4:00 marker in the video.

Difference: McCain lauds Obama, his supporters BOO. Obama lauds McCain, his supporters cheer. Who is for unity, and who is for divisiveness? You decide.

McCain/Palin have thrown way too much chum in the water already. If they are not very careful, they will get somebody hurt with their hate-mongering. Secret Service, do your job.

Ariel,
My sentiments exactly. However, I believe one of the reasons McCain has tempered his attacks is that if something did happen to Obama, the “blood” would be on his (and Palin’s) hands. I echo your words – SECRET SERVICE, DO YOUR JOB!

….why is the Obama group so shocked…didn’t Obama tell his elitist S.F. supporters that the “fly over” country is filled with angry people clutching their bibles and guns?
We might be tad less angry if the groups like ACORN, stealing this election weren’t,
being helped by the silence of the supposed media.

You reap what you sow…
What has become the Church of the Angry Base the McCain/Palin revival is showing it’s true colors. Rev. John and the Deacon of Deception (Palin) have promoted anger to advance their cause. Now the Rev. has seen the light of hate he’s exposed within the ranks of his blind followers. He needs to dim the spotlight exposing his soul!

I’m voting for Obama and the Democrats because I’ve lived through too many cycles of failed “Reaganomics” and do not believe Republican economics are “fiscally conservative” and the numbers (of the deficit and every stock market crash) back it up. Numbers speak louder than angry attacks which are lost on me.
I am not voting for McCain for president, but at the same time don’t like the attacks on his age or anger (PTSD is something to be understood not ridiculed) and am sure he’s a good Senator, but I don’t agree his alignment with Reagonomics are right for this day and age. Additionally Palin is an irresponsible choice and would be detrimental should she ever become president and many GOP analysts agree.
ACORN is doing a huge disservice to the Democrats – who because of the economy should be able to win legitimately . ACORN’s actions will only erode the merit of what can be a legitimate win. Republican’s are right to call them out, just like the Dems are calling out the voter purging.

RE: ACORN. It’s not voter fraud until somebody actually casts a vote. And you HAVE to show identification that matches your voter registration card when you vote. The problem with ACORN is they hired shady people to go out and register people to vote. These people are paid per registration form they get completed…are you following me here? Also, ACORN is required by law to submit each and every registration form they receive to the Supervisor of Elections. They did just that. They even set aside registration forms and flagged them for possible irregularites. So, if anybody is the victim of actual fraud here, it’s ACORN. They were frauded by the people they HIRED to register voters.

Republicans don’t need to dress up for Halloween this year. They’re scaring the pants off Barack Obama’s followers by their mere presence. Anything they say, wear, or do provokes instant cries of “RAAAAACISM!” Wink, blink, or think critical thoughts about Obama? You’re a bigot!
How many racial bogeyman have Obama operatives and sympathetic journalists discovered lurking in “coded language” and attire? Let us count the ways:
*At Tuesday’s presidential debate, John McCain referred to Obama as “that one.” Official Obama press agitator Bill Burton sent off an e-mail blast to reporters: “Did John McCain just refer to Obama as ‘that one’?” Horrors. Taking their cue from Burton, spooked Obama supporters hyperventilated like teenagers on the set of the Blair Witch Project movie. “The racial undertones were subtle but unmistakable,” declared Maya Wiley of the leftist Center for Social Inclusion. “McCain was tapping into a current of superiority among white voters. It was an attempt to ‘otherize’ Obama.”
“Otherize?” Sounds like something you do to your car tires to prepare for winter.
UC Berkeley linguistics prof George Lakoff was also haunted by “That One:” “The phrase was meant to say, ‘You and I are in the same area, but he’s the outsider.’”
Memo to McCain: Next time, call him “The One.”
*Obama supporters on the heavily-traffic Democratic Underground website (where such mainstream Democrats as Elizabeth Edwards hang out) saw the ghost of the Ku Klux Klan in Sarah Palin’s white suit jacket. Yes, white clothes = racism.
“Palin is wearing white again, inciting the racist crowds. She should just drop all pretense and put on her white hood and light up a cross. She is a despicable human being,” fumed a DU poster. “Grand Princess of the KKK,” proclaimed another. They’re “trying to send subtle signals to their rabid base,” yet another member of Obama’s rabid base declared.
My racial decoder ring must be on the fritz. Because I’m not getting the signal. If she wears white stockings, drinks a vanilla milk shake, and refers to budgetary black holes, are those incitements, too? And what about her gorgeous white teeth? Perhaps she should drink more coffee — hold the white cream! — to avoid emitting further racial radiation.
*Such paranoia is not limited to the fever swamps of the Internet. Earlier this week, the Associated Press disseminated an “analysis” accusing Palin of injecting a “racial tinge” into the campaign because she criticized Obama for his longtime relationship with Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers. Palin’s comments were completely unobjectionable: “This is not a man who sees America like you and I see America.”
I saw a vice presidential candidate drawing stark philosophical differences between two tickets. The AP saw Freddy Krueger with lipstick and a noose.
“Whether intended or not by the McCain campaign, portraying Obama as ‘not like us’ is another potential appeal to racism. It suggests that the Hawaiian-born Christian is, at heart, un-American,” the AP piece frothed.
Obama is half-black. Ayers is white. One of the Weather Underground’s victims was black police officer Waverly Brown of Nyack, New York. Where do I buy a pair of the super X-ray glasses that can detect the racism in Palin’s remarks about the Obama-Ayers alliance?
*I’ll have to borrow those hysterical-colored spectacles from Time’s Karen Tumulty, who spotted racist goblins in the recent McCain ad criticizing Obama for seeking advice from Fannie Mae corruptocrat, Franklin Raines. “Sinister images of two black men, followed by one of a vulnerable-looking elderly white woman,” Tumulty balked in a blog post titled “McCain plays the race card.”
Um, “sinister?” The ad’s photos of Obama and Raines were standard shots — some with dour expressions, others smiling. The fact that Tumulty perceived them as “sinister” suggests that she should perform a self-racism exam before diagnosing anyone else.
*A parade of Congressional witch hunters for Obama also detects the specter of George Wallace behind every policy bush. Democrat New York Gov. David Paterson says conservative criticism of Obama’s community organizing days is code for “black.” Democrat Rep. Gregory Meeks complained to the New York Observer: “They are trying to throw out these codes.” In the same piece, Democrat Rep. Yvette Clark divined segregationist intent in Palin’s references to Joe Six Pack and hockey moms. “It leaves a lot of people out.”
And Democrat Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid echoed Time’s Tumulty on the McCain camp’s Obama/Raines broadsides: “The only connection that people could bring up about Raines and Barack Obama is that they both are African-American, other than that there is nothing.”
The Washington Post reported that Obama’s office phoned up Raines for housing advice and has stood by its reporting. Is the newspaper part of the McCain/Palin hooded racists’ coven, too?
Obama’s witch hunters better beware. When there’s racism in every hiccup, nobody’s air supply is safe.

Jack brought up an interesting point. The actual Obama quote from early this year was “And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”
And look who McCain ended up pickin’ for his runnin’ mate: a woman who appeals to bitter, gun-totin’, religous xenophobes.

I’ve had it. I’m officially done with politics. The Communists/Anarchists have won. Fifty years of lefty/Commie brain washing, fifty years of an education system watering down education, has created a voter base so ignorant that they’re about to elect a man with NO qualifications, and with dubious “friends & supporters” that, if this were the WW2 years, would ensure Obama would at least be being followed around by the FBI. Now a man who shouldn’t be allowed the lowest national security credentials, is about to become C in C.
Russia flexing it’s muscles, China building new aircraft carriers and ballistic missile submarines, Iran building nukes for airborne detonation over the US to provide an EMP attack,
Russian Navy staging off Syria, and Muslin terrorists attacking the U.S. and the morons and their American hating lefty media are about to elect a man that BRAGS about our enemies support of him on his official website. This country is done.

Perhaps the McCain camp realized the horrible effect and the possible dangerous ramifications such hate talk and fear mongering caused. It’s easy to sway people of low intellect into very scary action as seen by the rally clips. He needed to take responsibility for Palin and his insidious words before it resulted in extremely disastrous results.

Posted by: enough | October 11, 2008, 11:38 am 11:38 am

Jack, I would suggest you leave the country immediately and hide somewhere noone can find you. When all is clear we will come looking for you and bring you back into the fold. I bet you fell for that one as a kid too, until it got long past bedtime and you found that noone cared enough to come looking for you. Yeah its all a commie plot. You are a true republican, I must say. You continue this silly rhetoric no matter what. I noticed you long for the “good old days” of the 50s when McCarthy (probably your hereo) and the FBI would “hunt down” commies in the shadows. Yeah times were great back then when the blacks and commies were kept in their place, eh? Back in those good old days of segregation. Like I said, why dont you split because we dont need you here.

So Jack…
what precisely was it you did in an ‘official’ political capacity before you mounted up and rode out of Dodge to greet Joe McCarthy in the promised land?

Posted by: BThomasCooper | October 11, 2008, 11:40 am 11:40 am

At least for a moment, McCain realized how despicable his campaign has become and sought to downplay the hate and violence he has been generating. But it was only a moment then the dishonorable McCain was back on a vicious lying attack. Shame on you John for what you’ve become.

Sometimes it’s difficult for people, especially those who can’t see the current election in terms of a clash between policy alternatives but who’d rather make things personal, to distinguish between disagreeing on substance and on withholding personal attacks.
When it’s about caricaturing a candidate as “palling with terrorists” (on basis of no evidence or any solid grounds for suspicion whatsoever), or whether it’s about thinly veiled incitement of fears of non-white Americans that are still alive among large tracts of the population, it’s not about substance. It’s about rhetoric. It’s about smears. And it’s good if that’s toned down.
What people who do not think in terms of issues (e.g. the economy) may not understand is that it’s perfectly possible to respectfully, fundamentally and *loudly* disagree with someone’s policies without smearing his character. And that it makes no sense at all to confuse the decency to tone down the smears with giving ground on policy issues.
That’s unfortunate because what the article does is to suggest that senator McCain standing up to the more ludicrous rants from the electorate should be rewarded with concessions on policy issues on part of senator Obama. That’s as unfortunate as it is wrong.
Some Americans seem to treat the Presidential Election as yet another sports match. Someone ought to wake them up and gently hint that the election is about issues (or ought to be), not about prejudice hatred, or rhetoric.

Or when that racist Ludacris released his hugly music video that called Hillary names and berated people ? Or did Obama not see or hear them either ???

I cringe when I think of Bush representing us at this financial meeting with world leaders. It is embarassing but then I think of possibly Palin in the meeting and Bush doesn’t seem so bad. It would be even scarier to have a President Palin in these troubled times. We need smart educated leaders representing the USA in these meetings. . . .like Obama/Biden. I get sick when I think that some people vote for the person they want to have a beer with. I vote for who I want in a meeting with world financial leaders.

Good for Obama. And good for McCain.
I can’t believe how much this makes me happier about the campaign. We were spiraling downward toward, hate. Some of that will still continue, of course, but it is nice to see that the candidates themselves actually know how to be decent.

I have an idea! Just for fun lets have Barack Obama, Joe Biden, John McCain, and Sarah Palin take IQ tests and lets compare their intelligence quotient as teams! Wouldnt that be a gas? I doubt the republicans would want that. I think the score would be something like O/B 300-M/P 130, and that would be an, if youll forgive my language, conservative estimate.

Posted by: mitch | October 11, 2008, 11:50 am 11:50 am

Well Jack, maybe if conservatives had supported education and not become the party of anti-intellectualism we’d all be smarter…of course, if we were all smarter McCain wouldn’t even be running. He has just as many ties to extremists and shady characters as you claim Obama does. And WHO’S the socialist? Obama isn’t the one that wants the gov’t to buy mortgages from people that were irresponsible and bought big houses that they couldn’t afford. Please, your party has become a joke – and the irony is that you have NOTHING to be angry about. You had a republican president and a republican congress for six straight years – if anything you should be blaming your own leadership and yourself for voting in a bunch of incompetent criminals.

Product Description
The U.S. government is in crisis.
With America’s attention fixated on who will step into the Oval Office in 2009, no one has noticed where the real power has shifted—to a vast network of unelected officials whose authority has grown wildly out of control. In his latest blockbuster book, acclaimed defense and national security reporter Bill Gertz exposes these astonishingly powerful leaders and their enablers in the political class—and their devastating impact on America’s national security.
Gertz shows how entrenched liberal activists have become dominant even under an ostensibly conservative administration. And he names names of those who actively subvert official U.S. policy—including not only liberal Democrats but also a number of so-called Republicans who have joined this insidious “Blame America First” crowd.
The Failure Factory reveals:
• The shocking, previously untold story of the partisan bureaucrats who completely undercut the U.S. position on Iran’s radical Islamist regime
• Barack Obama’s disastrous national security policies—and his stable of advisers who have already put America at risk
• The recent showdown in the Pentagon that laid bare the U.S. government’s ongoing failures to tackle the threat of Islamist extremism
• Flagrant cases of sabotage by top State Department officials that have emboldened dangerous states like Iran, North Korea, Russia, and Communist China
• Stunning new intelligence failures—including one that may have allowed a terrorist group to penetrate the FBI and CIA
• How even the Bush White House was overrun with Democrats and liberal Republicans
• The legions of “Clinton generals”—top military brass whose careers blossomed during the Clinton administration—who make the United States more vulnerable
• How Democrats are exploiting the antiwar movement for political gain, with little regard for the potentially devastating consequences
• How the defense secretary’s public defiance of official U.S. policy could have gotten him fired—but instead went unchallenged

Helllloooo. ACORN is a bipartisan group of people who try to get people in low income area to register to vote. They turn in their registation card to the proper voting authorities and those authorities validate the registrants. The people (lower income) that the Republicans are always trying to prevent from voting by using any challenge and scare tactic they can. Not a coincidence that Republican always seem to challenge voting in battleground states like Ohio (2004) and Florida (2000).
Its also a shame when potential leaders of our country support and promote hate and fear. It took 22 hours to RUSH to DC to help with the financial crisis and almost a week to realize that it is not good to incite hate and fear about “That One”. What lowly thing with Republicans do or say next. His ethnicity, education, marriage…what?

These tensions will increase. Every citizen in this country knows Obama is black. And some can’t handle that he might be president. By some white people’s standards, he is stepping out-of-bounds. Some still consider him a “boy” and will not accept him being elected president. I keep saying all the time this country is changing, and that’s a fact. Minorities will never, ever go back and will continue to move forward. Read the history of this country. We are on the verge of civil unrest. I saw all this about to happen because of Palin’s hateful remarks and Obama inching ahead of McCain. I’ve seen statements on this blog that Obama will never be president. What you fail to realize if Obama never becomes president, there will be another black, maybe a hispanic, who will rise to the occasion, again. Some cannot ever see a black man elected president and because of their ignorance, they might consider extreme measures. They barely can handle a black secretary of state in office, but definitely not a black president. I their mind’s eye, it should never, ever happen. This is how these morons think; that they own this country and wish desperately we could go back to slavery. Again, read about the past racial tensions in this country. It’s gonna get worse. I’m certain the national guard is on standby. The McCain campaign has outright called Obama a terrorist. This is not good for our country. The statements made creates more tensions. We are on a path of self-destruction.
You can walk around with blinders on if you want to; just watch what happens. There is so much the U.S. needs to focus on, but we have again sunk so low as to judge a man by the “color of his skin”. If you are an extremist, you will never be able to mastermind and take over this country. So get over it.

It’s called diplomacy and he’s already putting it to work. McCain is the one who is behind and he is the one who went negative. If Obama didn’t respond, he would be mocked as too soft. As of Thursday, every ad McCain had running around the country was negative against Obama. 100%. Obama is turn was running 34% negative ads. I think Obama’s recent statement of appreciation was to say that he is willing to talk about issues if McCain is done with his nasty baseless rhetoric.

I have my respect for McCain for his honesty in defending Obama. However, I can not understand why his supporters are so out of touch. A lady accused Obama is an Arab! She has shown everybody that she has known NOTHING. How many more people like that? Scary!

It’s good that McCain puts his foot down, but this will not stop anything. I doubt Palin will follow suit given she thrives in such hateful environment. I bet the racist biggots will be there at the next McCain/Palin rally.
It’s pretty clear the Repubs will continue to inflame hate and fear by continuing their ‘ethics’ attacks. Their supporters do not care what it takes to win, as long as they win, they do not care if they become a bunch of hate, fear-giving biggots and fascists.
Sorry, but since Palin and McCain had allowed these jerks to begin with, it shows the true character of their camp. They are no different than Osama Bin Laden when it comes to spreading fear and hate.

HP Boston…Well said.
It is unfortunate when you cry wolf enough times eventually people will stop listening, and if people don’t stop inserting Racism where it does not exist, when there comes a time when there really is a case of true racism, people won’t be listening anymore.
Talk about using scare tactics, the democrats wrote the book on using scare tactics, and crying racism at every turn is just another scare tactic and a form of racism in itself. I use to be a Democrat when I was younger, then I grew up, and grew wiser. The Republicans are not completely innocent either, both parties cater to special interest groups, but McCain has fought his own party in an attempt to bring some reform to how Campaign contributions are handled, and I though I have not agreed with him on some things in the past, that is one issue he has my full support. I may not always agree with the man, but I can at least admire his desire to want to change things, and his desire for change is sincere.

For a man who touts his leadership credentials he can’t seem to control his own campaign. There is NO EXCUSE for inciting an angry crowd by calling your opponent a terrorist–no, wait, he didnt call Obama a terrorirst, he just IMPLIED it–like a coward.

The more the polls favor Obama the nastier the McCain campaign and his supporters get. They’re scared, plain and simple. Don’t worry, guys – I can understand what you’re feeling. It’s the same thing that this little dyed-in-the-wool liberal Democrat felt when Bush was elected for the second time in 2004.
I sympathize with you, I do – but don’t let hatred get the better of you. Now is the time for respect and understanding, not anger.

I too appreciate John McCain’s trying to tone the violent hate at his rallies down. Sarah Palin needs to do the same thing. The main problem I see with the McCain-Palin almost totally negative campaigning is that it doesn’t have anything to do with things that really matter. Retirees have lost 1.2 trillion dollars in retirement funds in a week. Three quarters of a million have lost jobs in nine months, and judging from what is happening around here, others are losing their jobs every day. People have lost homes, pensions, health care, retirement funds the ability to find work, and those same people are paying the highest inflation rate in 27 years. George W. Bush promised to be a compassionate conservative, and he ended up helping the rich get richer and the middle class get shafted. How do we know John McCain’s sudden interest in the middle class isn’t more of the same? How does harping about Bill Ayers (which all major news outlets have discredited) do anything to help hurting people? In a way, I think harping on the negative just insults the voters. It says, “Your hurting doesn’t matter to us. All we want to do is to smear our opponent.” I hope all the negative campaigning stops.

Republicans, in general, are a very scary bunch. Misinformed, immature, emotional, mean spirited- mostly clueless. I’ve got mine, & I want to keep it- the heck with anybody that wants to help those that need help. Power hungry, corrupt, decietful. I don’t want to be associated with those whom are foolish enough to support the Angry Old Man Mccain, his vile wife, or his crazy running mate palin. I’ll never vote for a republican until they fix their problems. & they’ve got a bunch of problems.
Worst of all, they fill up media time with repetive, untrue propaganda- obviously they’re out of worthwhile things to talk about, lets tune them out en-masse-
Time for old man mccain to settle into a lounge chair on his patio & play some bridge, palin to go help her baby & her troublesome daughter, & for the overpaid cheating, lieing, arrogant idiots “running” mccains campaign to go out & try to get a real job.

Stop defending ACORN and Obama. He is involved in this voter fraud up to his ears. Its how he won the nomination, if you want to call it winning. Hillary Clinton supporters witnessed the fraud in the caucuses, how many knew that the dead rose from the grave to vote for Obama in Iowa, Nevada and Texas? and we saw it first hand in the DNC’s awarding delegates to Obama he hadn’t earned. Cheating is the ONLY way Obama won the primary, and its the only way he can win the general. He is not the ligitimare Democratic nominee, and if he wins, he will not be the legitimate President. This man is a fraud, a cheat, a liar, and the absolutes worst thing that has happened to the Democratic Party since Jimmy Carter, and if elected, he will make George Bush and Hoover look like saints in comparison. I was a lifelong Dem now an independent, because of the cheating and fraudulent actiivty in the Democratic primary, I will not support that kind of behavior, and I will not support a man who did not win the primary nomination honestly. Boo hoo hoo. Palin got a scumbag fired who happened to be an ex brother-in-law. If that’s the most they can get on her, and by God you know they’ve tried, I would say she’s a true hero. You Dems jumped on that like flies on honey like it was a big deal. It’s the ONLY deal and in reality, not all that big. Now let’s go look at your guy. What about the secret meeting with the muslim faith group in September???
Here it is if you’re curious:

Look, Politics is a game and running for President is the ultimate game. The Republicans use some real low tactics in an effort to win. The Dems are responding, which they are forced to do because although low class, negativity seems to work. Obama isn’t running to be Jesus, of course he is flawed, but following in the footsteps of W. isn’t good for the country. That my friends, is obvious.

You talk and talk about McCain/Palin and their supporters that “hate.” Yyou have to be kidding. After 20 years it has finally occured to the Harvard educated Obama that his pastor was spewing hate. Now you’re really spiking the kool-aid. Rehab yourselves and look at the man behind the Harvard Law Review words. Sure sounds golden when people are suffering but some of those people need to take responsibility for their own actions.

I hoped for an election between Obama and McCain believeing I would be happy with either of them being the President. Lately, though I am confronted with an image of presidential candidate McCain which I barely recognize from the stark image of the maverick Senator McCain of years past. Just when I thought the McCain I knew was gone yesterday he gave us a glimpse of the honorable man we thought he was as he defended Obama against unfounded fears. Maybe now we can get back to the issues.

Closing the barn door after the horse had fled??? Too late, McShame!! Especially now that your VP choice has been found guilty!! Now, what does that tell us about your judgment??? Trying to turn the tide now is the same as going into Iraq without plans and now find that you are stuck there. You can’t just throw out outrageous lies, make unjust accusations and rile up your crowd, then try to tame them now. You are committing treason indirectly, for you are attempting to DIVIDE this country!! You gal pit bull and dude Palin have been trying to get Alaska to secede from the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, attending their gatherings frequently, and commending and urging them on their “good work”. Now, tell me, is that traitorous or not??? Sure, you have been a POW, but now you have seen it fit to destroy the same country that you profess to love and honor. Perhaps it is a good time to sit back and reflect on all that you are doing wrong, and leave it to those better people to lead. No to McShame/McPalin.

Why doesn’t McCain just have the guts to present all this as he feels? If he would just come out and say, “It’s ok for you to ride on the bus Toby, that’s ok….but damnit I’m driving!” At least he wouldn’t suffer the dignity loss he has.

I actually think Libermann (who had been absent recently) put his foot down. I think he knows, as a Jewish person, that those rallies were starting to look to similar to Nazi or Klan rallies. And I’m sure he was hearing it from his fellow Jewish supporters of McCain. That is why Obama started moving up in the polls in Florida. Palin and her Christian right folks (who believe all Jews are going to hell) scare Jewish people.

AYERS= Terrorist;
ACORN= Voter fraud; shaking down banks; helping Fannie/Freddie and the housing market to collapse;
WRIGHT= Praising 9/11; praying for US destruction;
REZKO= Convicted corrupt felon.
We all know many politicians maintain funny associations to gain and stay in power.
BUT DOES ANYBODY KNOW SOMEBODY ELSE WITH MORE CRAZY RADICAL FRIENDS THAN BARACK OBAMA?
That this guy is even running for president is sheer madness. He should not even be in the senate. He definitely will be no good for the US. But I know that, despite the biased MSM and lying pollsters, on 4 November, most Americans will vote for McCain/Palin and kick Obama’s ass.
OBAMA SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED ANY CLOSER TO POWER THAN HE ALREADY IS IN THE SENATE. AND IF THE VOTERS IN CHICAGO HAD ANY SENSE, THEY WOULD RECALL HIM FROM THERE TOO!

The McCain/ Palin ticket has been using code words to scare people about having a black president- they’re pushing this whole idea that Obama isn’t “one of us” (i.e. white)- any reputable news source has Obama’s bio which is; American and Christian. The republicans are using scare tactics again, just like they did in 2004. I just don’t understand why in this age of information people don’t look up the facts.

What’ll be interesting is that during Wednesday’s debate McCain has promised his party that he WILL face Obama with his accusations, but now he’s painted himself into a corner since he defended him at his rally, and said that they don’t have to be afraid.
Sarah, meanwhile, cannot be called an outsider anymore or a reformer because she was stupid enough to abuse her power as governor, proving that she really IS “politics as usual”.
The campaign is imploding before our eyes because they are running out of time, ideas, strategy, and voters.

Speaking of Hitler- I have heard several people I know talk of the similarities between Hitler gaining power and the “excitement” Obama brings. They think his charisma is very similar. Hilter talked his way into power and the Germans lost control before they knew what happened. Be careful- if it can happen in Germany 60 years ago, it can hapen anywhere.

Both Obama and McCain are good men, but their policies and what they stand for are very different. The radical and extremely dangerous policies just do not add up, not to mention his lack of gut, courage, and experience. For example, I do not think he is able to lead us out of the current economic crisis. Knowing that fact that the current socialized entitlement programs are a time bomb that is even more powerful than the current financial crisis, he is trying to add fuel to that ticking bomb by socialized health care. Also, he is in support of another $150B stimulus package without knowing what have happened to the last $70B one of which more than half is said to have been sent oversea like China and India right after the retailers like Wal Mart, and Target got the money!!! Obama just doesn’t get it. His lack of experience will surely lead to policies that will appear to be easy choices, yet very unthoughtful and extremely dangerous and will guarantee to eat up our next generation alive. I have been a Dem for my life time, but I am not convince he is able to do it. Mr. Obama’s intellect does not come close to anywhere Mr Clinton has!!! We need to vote smart, this is not a beauty contest between the two.
Mr. McCain needs to focus on his core message — Change We Can Trust and Country First.

Both Obama and McCain are good men, but their policies and what they stand for are very different. The radical and extremely dangerous policies of Mr. Obama just do not add up, not to mention his lack of gut, courage, and experience. Like our young college kids, Mr. Obama has no experience in making hard choices, especially in difficult times. I don’t think he is able to lead us out of the current economic crisis. Knowing the fact that the current socialized entitlement programs are a time bomb that is even more powerful than the current financial crisis, but Mr. Obama is trying to add fuel to that ticking bomb by adding health care. I do feel as a nation we need to take care of the young, the weak, and those able bodies (including students) who are willing to work or go to school and yet can’t afford insurance, but handing out free insurance (a right???!!!) to everyone is outrageous (in contrasting, the McCain’s approach is a responsible one). Have you heard about that some evacuees from the last hurricane in New Orleans have complained about not being evacuated to cruise ships?! Wake up! Also, Mr. Obama is supporting another $150B stimulus package without knowing what have happened to the last $70B one, of which more than half is said to have been sent oversea like China and India right after the retailers like Wal Mart, and Target got the money!!! Those are just examples that his lack of experience will surely lead to policies that will appear to be easy choices, yet very unthoughtful and extremely dangerous and in the end will guarantee to eat up our next generation alive. What that woman at the McCain rally said makes me so sad, about Obama being an Arab. I expect more accuracy and knowledge from bigots in our country. I am a 30 year old African American who once lived in a time when bigots used appropriate slurs against me. Now we are falling behind other nations in our use of prejudice. I propose we set up an education program for bigots, racists and xenophobes so that they can more effectively carry out some our most eternal national traditions.
Please someone help that lady in discovering the many joyous slurs against black people!
Please lets “Leave No Bigot Behind”

Posted by: James P. McCampbell | October 11, 2008, 1:32 pm 1:32 pm

I think McCain began to have a moment of clarity and saw the monster his campaign was creating. People make all this allegations against Obama with nothing substantive to prove it. It’s all conjecture and speculation created by those who don’t want him to win. They say things like he stole the campaign by stealing votes. NONSENSE!! WHERE’S THE PROOF! Just because you say it doesn’t make it so. I don’t Obama has paid people working at the polls to steal elections that’s the method of the Republicans in 2000 and 2004. And there is plenty of proof of that. I think this election is good in two ways. It’s showing many white americans have put aside racial hatred and prejudice, but just like a good rain causes earthworms to surface, so has this caused the racial hatred that his been concealed for so long to surface as well. The children of those who clinged to Jim Crow Laws are still alive and well and they carry on their parents’ legacy with honor and fervor. Listen to the ignorant guys at the McCain rally. And did you see the black guy at that same rally talking about he needs to stick it to Obama? I think that he was Dave Chappelle’s inspiration for the Black and Blind KKK Leader. The bottom line is this America, either we unite and live together or we divide and die together. Those are our real options. The terrorist won’t have to worry about doing anything. They will be able to just sit back and watch us kill ourselves and when we have weakened ourselves from within will be their opportunity to strike. If violence breaks out in every major city and we have to dispatch our National Guard, who’s going to be available to fight the war over seas. As a soldier I swore to defend this country against ALL ENEMIES both foreign and DOMESTIC. In some of those McCain rallies I saw what I feel is the feeding grown for our Domestic Enemies. McCain and Palin Must stop this spread of fear and hatred for once it goes into entropy like heat there will be no controlling it. Such messages is all the Neo-Nazis and KKK (home grown terrorists) need to start gathering arms and shooting anyone that doesn’t look or think like they do.

Let’s keep it real. Senator Obama is a natural born American citizen therefore eligible to serve as President of the United States. He says he’s a Christian. I say that’s between him and God, none of our business. Stay on concrete facts. Sen Obama is a member of a radical anti-American racist organization. He is known to be associated with terrorists, dictators, racist and criminals. That is not an accusation, it is a matter of public record. His views are leftist to the point that he supported the gun ban in Washington DC then later admitted that he knew it was unconstitutional yet he still supports the Chicago ban and voted against a bill in the Illinois legislature which allows a citizen to use deadly force to defend himself in his own home. I wonder what other parts of the Constitution he plans to ignore. He’s not a veteran but thinks he knows more than general military officers who have spent a lifetime studying and gaining experience. He supports the death tax which is the biggest threat to the family farm and family business since the dust bowl. He plans to raise taxes on business owners who will simply pass that cost to the consumer. It sounds good but the poor and middle class pay indirectly. He voted to give medical care to illegal aliens at taxpayer expense and says that Americans need to learn Spanish rather than illegal aliens learning English. … Obama is an extreme leftist and he’s more dangerous than anyone who has ever run for the office.

Posted by: Oonogil | October 11, 2008, 1:37 pm 1:37 pm

James P. McCampbell.
VERY WELL STATED!
I oppose Senator Obama’s politics and question his ethics and choice of friends but his name is not important nor is the color of his skin his religion or his ancestry. I care about his political views and the color of his heart and mind. I won’t vote for him.

Posted by: Oonogil | October 11, 2008, 1:44 pm 1:44 pm

Still, here in America, there does exist racial hatred, and that is on both sides. However, from white America, it can be more dangerous and lethal. We all know this.
The people in the McCain group want to use the terrorists and other name callings at Obama because they don’t want to openly admit that his skin color is what bothers them. If they were “back in the day” some would feel more likely to be honest and admit it.
It really was disturbing and scary to see and hear on yesterday the many people who were interviewed in one State who said they believed that Obama was a terrorist. Come on!
It doesn’t help that Gov. Palin is stoking the fire. By the way, some of the GOPs are appaulled at her stirrings and I know it will backfire on her via these GOPs especially if McCain loses. She will be ostracized from “the Club”. Mark my word! Including those GOPers who are supporting her doing this. Yet when it is all over they will turn their backs. Remember Linda Tripp? Women are still allowing themselves to be used and pimped.
Obama is a U.S. citizen, Christian, decent and intelligent family man. This is proven. However, his skin color is permanent even though he is 50% white and 50% black. Understand that the U.S. government would not allow him to run for President if any of this was slightly untrue.
In this day and age, more people tend to hide their prejudices and having something to hide behind makes it easier to express themselves.
Although I don’t agree with them, I do have much respect for the people who have admitted without hesitation that they will not vote for Obama because he is black.
Vote for the candidate you desire.
Leave the hatred out of it or it will continue to weaken and finally destroy our country and you guys know we don’t have much left.

Thats where you differentiate a man with character and a bully. And McCain have been a bully or trying to be since the beginning and it backfired on him. He is so scared he hid behind Palin’s skirt but being guilty of abuse of power that backfired on him too. So now he tries to become the gentleman but that was booed as well. So he does not have any choice but to say…. Do not be afraid on Barack Obama to be the President…. White flag of surrender, my friend McCain? You betcha, wink, wink, wink

It’s a shame that Sen. Mccain has to lie cheat and god help us steal, to try and win this election. To lie and tell us terrorist are coming to America will not work this time so he is now inciting his supporters to go make war on Obama? Let me ask you all one question. What if because of that one of these people kill Obama? I’ll tell you one thing this is not the 1960s. Folks will not take it lying down, and Mccain should know he is declaring a civil war in this country. We already have Bush raping our economy, now Mccain and Palin trying to declare a civil war? When will they stop? We need jobs, we need money, we need our country back to normal is that all the Republicians can give America, violence? Shame Mccain it wont work.

Simple prayer for America!!!!
Dear Jehovah (God):
We thank you for this day; we thank you for our being able to see and hear this morning.
We are blessed because of you, Jehovah you are a forgiving and understanding God. You have done so much for us and you keep on blessing us.
Forgive us this day for everything, we have done, said, or thought that was not pleasing to you. We ask now for your Forgiveness.
Please keep us safe from all danger and harm. Help us to start this day and every day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude. Let us make the best of each and every day to clear our mind so, that we can hear from you, Jehovah.
Please broaden our mind that we can accept all things. Let us not whine and whimper over things that we have no control over. And give us the best response when we are pushed beyond our limits.
We know that when we can’t pray, you, Jehovah listen to our heart. Continue to use us to do your will. Continue to bless us that we may be a blessing to others.
Keep us strong, that we may help the weak. Keep us uplifted that we may have words of ENCOURAGEMENT for others. We pray for those that are lost and can not find their way. We pray for those that are misjudged and misunderstood.
Let’s pray for those who don’t know you, Jehovah intimately. Let’s pray for those that don’t believe. But, we thank you, Jehovah that we believe that you changes people and things. Let’s pray for all of our sisters and brothers around the world.
For each and every family member in their households. Let’s pray for peace, love, and joy in their homes and all of their needs are met.
LET’S PRAY THAT EVERY EYE THAT READS THIS KNOWS THERE IS NO PROBLEM, CIRCUMSTANCE, OR SITUATION GREATER THAN YOU, JEHOVAH.
EVERY BATTLE IS IN JEHOVAH HANDS FOR JEHOVAH TO FIGHT. LET’S PRAY THAT THESE WORDS BE RECEIVED INTO THE HEARTS OF EVERY EYE THAT SEES IT IN JESUS’ NAME!!!!
AMEN

Obama is lying again. He keeps saying that the economy is failed because of the Republicans..everyone needs to know the truth. That is the democrats pushed through a social engineering experiment, to loan money to people who couldn’t possibly afford them. Those are the so called sub-prime loans. It is amazing that they blame the republicans. ACORN sued CitiBank for declining to make those loans. The republicans with John McCain tried to stop it, but Barny Franks and Chris Dodd wouldn’t let it out of cOMMITTEE. If you want more of these genius ideas in the future, then vote for Obama, the community Organizer. He spent 100 million to improve Chicago schools with no rise in test scores. The reason? they taught how to be a radical instead of the three R’s..nice huh? Just think what he can do with public schools in the WhiteHouse. Lets teach PORN to kindergarteners is his idea. America..time to come out of your stupor

I respect both Obama and McCain as good men, but their policies and what they stand for are very unsettling! Obama’s radical and extremely dangerous ideas and policies just do not add up for a change for the GOOD of the Country. Like our young college kids, Mr. Obama has no experience in ever making a hard choice, especially in difficult times. For example, knowing the fact that the current socialized entitlement program is a time bomb that is even more powerful than the current financial crisis, Mr. Obama is trying to add fuel to that ticking bomb by adding health care. I do feel as a nation we need to take care of the young, the weak, and those able bodies (including students) who are willing to work or go to school and yet can’t afford insurance, but handing out free insurance (a right???!!!) to everyone is outrageous! Have you heard about that some evacuees from the last hurricane in New Orleans have complained about not being evacuated to cruise ships?! Wake up! Those are the things Obama’s policy will surely lead to. Another example is that he is supporting another $150B stimulus package without knowing what has happened to the last $70B one. It is said that half of the last $70B has been shipped oversea like China and India right after Wal Mart, Target, and the like got the money!!! Are those policies dangerous enough? Yes. Are they popular? Yes. But those very unthoughtful and extremely dangerous policies will guarantee to eat up our next generation alive. I have been a Dem for my life time, but I am not convinced Mr. Obama is able to do it because his intellect does not come close to anywhere Mr Clinton has!!! We need to VOTE SMART, this is not a beauty contest between the two.

Obama voted to murder third term infants that survived abortion. He did this to advance his political career. Is this the kind of man you want in the White House? Fine, but when he wants to withhold meedical care from Grandma and leet her die, because she is inconvient or costing “the Government too much” you will only have yourselves to blame.

This is more like the John McCain about whom I used to say I wouldn’t mind seeing him be President. But his inconsistency on issues lately, his newfound support for fiscal policies that he used to say were unfair to the middle class, his codling up to Big Oil and to the radical right have made the term, Straight Talk, an complete joke. For insight on why people vote the way they do, despite the facts, visit read my blog article on the subject.

If Obama wins, we can all quit work because he has a program to help us all. Free health care, a nice house we cant afford, etc. etc…. What a minute! We won’t have to quit because our employers won’t be able to afford us. That’s perfect, because when we are laid off, we can also get unmployment for extra weeks like he proposed.

veteransson – I am a veteran’s (WWII) daughter with the utmost respect for all veterans regardless of political opinion. Because of our veterans AND our entire military capacities throughout the years, you have the RIGHT to voice your opinion. I do not want to lose ANY MORE of our (yours, too) rights as Americans. Unfortunately, in this election, it appears we already have. MSM has an obvious bias and that infringes on all of our American rights. I, for one, do not appreciate the right to a fair election being removed by MEDIA INTERPRETATION being DONE FOR US. Freed from media regulations (Clinton) the media has blitzed this election so far pro-Obama. THAT is WRONG. I am a minority but do not appreciate the choice skewed – like affirmative action has for many minorities – in this election – I couldn’t watch McCain interact with the crowd following the last debate because ABC video feed only followed Obama around. I stood up for OJ in the “Trial of the Century” and I will stand up for McCain because Americans are being shafted into a media driven “fix” for Obama.

“Obama pays ACORN almost a million dolars and ACORN is caught in over a dozen states usurping our Democracy by fraudulent registrations for Obama and we are expected to trust Obama? Obama has terrorist ties, hate mongering African Centric Church ties, criminal Rezko ties, Marxist education ties, and we are expected to trust Obama? Hello? No Dice!”
I am TIRED of ignoramus idiots cracking on ACORN – without ACORN, many lower-income home owners would have been swept away!
*ACORN got $80K as a subcontractor for CSI, who got the $800K.
*ACORN has helped thousands of ordinary citizens FIGHT against predatory lender practices.
*ACORN has had several isolated voter registration indictments that reflect less than 1% of their total work output.
*Obama has NEVER espoused the methods of Bill Ayers, Rev. Wright, and the Black Panthers.
*There is NO proof that Obama, who WAS friends, participated or colluded in any illegal activity with Rezko.
*There is NO proof that Obama’s $300K savings on his house was due to Rezko.
Out of thousands of associations that Obama has had, these four have been plucked and preened for inspection by liars!
I am still waiting for PROOF from these slanderers.
My question is: with McCain AND Palin now cited for ethics violations in their governmental responsibilities, how are we expected to trust THEM?

Yes, bosco, they are doing it again. It seems every generation is determined to repeat the previous generation’s mistakes before they learn.
Obama’s policies are a case in point. They do NOT represent anything new..or a change. They are the same old, same old, tired socialist policies that have been repeatedly proven NOT to work. But, the definition of insanity to keep trying the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result.
This proves that BHO supporters have learned nothing from history; and are therefore, uneducated or insane. Take your pick.

I’ve been saying this since the beginning: everyone needs to just calm down. This is an election between good people and good candidates. No one is perfect, but both of these individuals have sincere goals to better this country. Neither is the boogie-man. Let’s all just take a break, go for a walk, chill out, and come back to the table with real questions about who’s economic/military/education/health care policy is best. Knowing that, in America, even if one political cycle completely screws up authentically trying to improve the country, the mechanism will ultimately correct itself the next time around.

Do you know that McCain has recently tried to tie Obama to the policies of George W. Bush? To be honest I don’t think I dislike Bush and his Republican allies on the Hill any less than many Republican voters at this point. That’s not a sentiment of blind hatred, it’s just fatigue.

“That is the democrats pushed through a social engineering experiment, to loan money to people who couldn’t possibly afford them. Those are the so called sub-prime loans. It is amazing that they blame the republicans. ACORN sued CitiBank for declining to make those loans. ”
To blame these programs for our financial crisis reflects TOTAL, mind-numbing ignorance and a sick bias toward the crooks who made this happen.
*Less than 1% of all loans can even be attributed to these specific programs.
*The crisis has been caused by lenders who created a multiplicity of derivatives to package these loans for speculation in an unmoderated climate.
*This climate was accelerated by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley bill, supported with modifications by Clinton, and Bush’s capital gains incentives.
*ACORN sued CitiBank to increase fair practices for AHC’s homeowners. Here is a list of points from their agreement in 2004:
* Form an affordable mortgage-lending program between Citigroup and ACORN Housing Corp. (AHC) to develop a specialized mortgage product for all AHC’s homeownership centers, and make mortgages available to immigrants who have previously been shut out of credit markets.
* Work together to expand access to the Earned Income Tax Credit, and, in immigrant communities, expand access to Citibank’s Access Account and low-cost remittance program.
* Expand financial education to assist low- and moderate-income consumers in saving, obtaining credit, and using credit wisely.
* Focus on community development lending to increase affordable housing in areas where the Citibank Community Development and ACORN footprints coincide.
* Provide borrowers with access to the best combination of loan product, price, service, and attributes.
* Establish a net-benefit test for real estate secured loans.
Stop the ignorance and lies.

James McCampbell, I call this present economy the result of democratic social policy violating sound economic principles. When good people tried to block it, they were called racist. I recall hearing about it in the early 90′s, and I thought to myself well that is nice lets help people get into a home. I believe they referred to it as “the Ownership Society”. People would be more likely to take care of their communities, if they had a piece of them in the form of home ownership. Unfortunately, they got carried away, loaning money at subprime rates to folks who never intended to pay them off. The democrats should have known better. Thats why I say not to give the Dmocrats another chance, despite Bush being President. I goota leave now, so I won’t be able to respond. But think about it. Google it. I don’t expect you to believe me/.

I must ask you ringer if Obama’s economic policies will ruin our country what do you call the current state of affairs?
Economic prosperity?
An unfortunate “Mental Recession”?
A market adjustment?
Do you know that McCain has recently tried to tie Obama to the policies of George W. Bush?
A real issue – to answer to that – Yes, I do think Obama’a policies will negatively affect our country’s current state of affairs. My point – if Obama’s plan to mandate heath insurance for children passes – I would have (my daughter is insured through college) had to quit my job because I could not afford the insurance ($500.00 per month through my Union benefit plan at work) and without knowing what the fine to be uninsured will be, nor the cost of the government plan would be – my choice in that arena goes to McCain – I keep my job, pay the insurance because the net cost to me would be $1000.00 per year. THAT I can afford. Obama’s plan would cost me $6000.00 per year. I cannot afford that on $35,000 a year.
Obama is in the Senate – currently under the Bush administration – therefore Obama is technically connected to the “Bush Administration” just as much as McCain. That’s pretty simple.
Next question?

” But think about it. Google it. I don’t expect you to believe me.”
Of course not – unless I choose to be an ignoramus.
Ignorance requires a narrowing and a simplification of events for justification of a broad-based point. “Point” is really a nice word for polemic.
Do these people realize that one could deterministically tied this kind of ignorance to the precipitation of the Third Reich, to South European facism, and to the Cultural Revolution?

I would like to share a couple things I have learned in this election season. The first one is that I finally have a better understanding why Obama does not like China or the Chinese regime. The reason is simple. That is in the past two decades or so China has tried its best to do away with its 50-year failed socialist policy and in the meanwhile has embraced as much capitalism as possible while Obama will just want to do the opposite by advocating additional radical socialized programs. Folks, the current socialized entitlement program is a time bomb that is even more powerful than the current financial crisis, adding socialized health care is sure to add fuel to that ticking bomb that will guarantee to eat you, me, and our kids up alive by destroying the future all together. In addition, have you heard about that some evacuees from the last hurricane in New Orleans have complained about not being evacuated to cruise ships?! Wake up! I think you and many of our college kids are smart enough to comprehend this. At the moment, young kids might get frustrated by the current situation they are facing, but those radical policies will sure to come back to haunt them after they leave school. Thanks Senator Obama!
The second thing I learn is how unthoughful and dangerous Mr. Obama’s policy philosophy is by advocating another $150B stimulus package without knowing what happened to the last $70B package. Folks again, much of that $70B was shipped overseas like China, India, etc. by WalMart, Target, and the like. Given the current economic situation, do we need another stimulus package, I think so. But it should be done in way that it will help create jobs in America, not in oversea to allow this deficit monster to be able to feed on itself to destroy our economy. If you listen to Mr. McCain, his approach makes lots of sense by reducing taxes to allow small business to hire and buy America. Folks, we should be smarter! People like McCain in Washington must find a way to let the money to stay in America and to help America, not those across the oceans! Again, thanks Senator Obama for teaching me how simplistic your policy philosophy is!

and all of this talk about people being morons and simpletons and such. At least we’re all here, concerned about the same thing – our country and our livliehoods. How do differing opinions make the speaker a moron, just because they don’t see it like you do? We differ on the solution is all. I just find it hard to believe that people really think that either Obama or McCain will bring any real change. They are the sock puppets for those that truly rule.. I think the same was true for Bush, which is how he got into so much trouble… and also took the hit for it… while those pulling the levers, the ones who are really in control – and not elected to be sure, pull the levers… Maybe I’m just the lone ranger thinking this is the case, but nothing else makes alot of sense right now…

Sorry hurt, you are ranting and raving.
McCain’s policies are 95% the same as George Bush’s. And i think most of america will agree that the last eight years have been a disaster for america.
* We are now in two wars, we’ve lost thousands of soldiers and permanently injured tens of thousands of others… and we are not one iota closer to capturing the guy who caused 9/11. And the cost of our military misadventures is approaching a trillion dollars.
* The economy has now totally collapsed.
* We went from having the largest surplus of all time to the largest debt of all time. We went from the largest lender nation to the largest borrower nation.
If you want more of the same, McCain is the guy to continue these policies. For something different, Obama is the way to go.
Yeah, Fox and Hannity and Rush will jump up and down about Obama’s associates and what happened when he was eight years old and how horrible that is… but look no one is perfect. Anyone remember McCain’s association with Keating? Not very nice either. Maybe worse, but none of this is important.
The election is not about these made up issues. The election is about which way we want the country to go. More of the same, or real change to get our country back on the right track.
vote Obama!

To try to pin the economic collapse on some “social engineering experiment” is just hogwash. As if ACORN invented the credit default swap.
Lets be real here, the problem was deregulation of wall street — a slow process pushed by republicans for thirty years. (Yes, i admit clinton was involved in the deregulation too — In fact, clinton is my favorite republican). McCain’s economic advisor, Gramm, was the leading proponent of this. I don’t blame McCain for the problems — but i do blame the republican party.
It is your 401K we are fighting for. For god sakes, vote Obama, and maybe, just maybe we will be able to get this economy out of the crapper.
