After Dedicating Crass Song to McCain/Palin, Jay-Z to Rally Obama Supporters in Ohio

The Obama campaign announced today that Jay-Z and NBA star LeBron James will hold a "Last Chance for Change" concert in Cleveland next Wednesday.

The announcement about Jay-Z comes a few days after he dedicated his 2003 song "99 Problems" to Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

The lyrics to "99 Problems" include the famous line:

"If you’re havin’ girl problems I feel bad for you son
I got 99 problems but a bitch ain’t one."

According to MTV News Jay recently dedicated the song to McCain and a "homegirl," whom he described as "the one who says ‘You betcha.’ "

"I’m gonna get in trouble for this," Jay said, laughing, "but f— it, this is freedom of speech."

I agree with Jay-Z. I just disapprove the language.

So it’s okay for hate radio to make up stuff about obama being a muslim, that he’s not an American, etc. but not okay for a singer to give an opinion? And why is Sarah Palin on Rush Limbaugh, or on Sean Hannity’s show who had Andy Martin – a true racist and anti-semite? Why don’t you cover that Jake?

Not surprised. Birds of a Feather!! Obama played the song at a rally back during the primaries in reference to Hillary, a lot of people probably didn’t notice it, but I could not believe it. Can’t Blame J that’s what he does, but I can blame Obama because he knows better, he lost me back then I could never vote for him.

Just another typical Obama friend. Fits in with Rev. Wright, Ayers, Rezco and many many others!!!! Maybe Jay-Z will write the next “Star Spangled Banner”.

Jay-Z is a musical entertainer.
He can dedicate his song to whoever he wants – he doesn’t need our permission.
I bet John McCain wishes that he was really as good of a leader as the one he tries to portray on TV. Then, he wouldn’t have to explain why his selection for Vice President has NO IDEA what a Vice President does.
Game over Senator McCain. Turns out, you and your running mate are both mavericky frauds.

The GOP Vice-Presidential nominee seemed star struck, but told the singer they have something in common, “I see Gretchen Wilson over there and I need to get your autograph before we leave! Hello! Yes! Someone called me a redneck woman once and you know what I said back? I said, ‘Why thank you.’”

Sharing The Wealth Depends On Your Perspective By On The Right!
Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read “Vote Obama,
I need the money.” I laughed. Once in the restaurant my server had on a “Obama 08″ tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference–just imagine the coincidence.
When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need–the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.
I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I’ve decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful. At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved money more.
I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

Hillary supporters remember the Jay Z song well.
It’s the one Obama referenced in Raleigh, NC – following his abyssmal PA debate performance – in which he ‘brushed her off his shoulders’ and flipped her the bird in a most juvenile way.
Glad to see he’s still hangin’ with the same crowd during the general election. Very presidential!

I LOVE JAY-Z..
ALSO:
In 1987, John McCain cast several votes in an attempt to force the Reagan administration to meet with RENAMO1, a guerrilla organization in Mozambique that State Department officials at the time described as a “terrorist group,” 2 without requiring that the group meet any preconditions.
McCain’s support for RENAMO directly contradicts his attacks on opponent Barack Obama for having “worked closely with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers” and having “pledged to meet, without preconditions, with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea.” Senator Obama has made it clear that this policy does not extend to non-governmental organizations. In response to questions about the Palestinian militant group Hamas, Obama specified that “we should not be dealing with them until they … renounce terrorism.”

Love the redistribution of wealth experiment! The sheeplings are buying into this Marxism because they think they’ll be the recipients of Obama’s pick-pocketry. They don’t realize that there is always someone less well off than they are – and that it will very likely be their own pocket which ends up being picked before all is said and done.

I don’t really get the song on the whole, but the chorus does have a somewhat sympathetic tone.
And Jake, as John McCain says, it’s important to “display a sense of humor” in a campaign.
I think you need to loosen up a bit.
After all, based on the comments of Colin Powell and Ken Adelman, John McCain IS “havin girl problems”.
Top 2 McCain girl problems:
1. Sarah Palin
2. Gender Gap
So maybe Jay-Z has a point and perhaps he does really feel sorry for John McCain.

Posted by: cardinal | October 23, 2008, 12:29 pm 12:29 pm

Obviously, Obama should be responsible for everything a songwriter has said in a previous song. Remember when McCain and Palin strongly condemned this racist diatribe from Rush Limbaugh:
“We thought that it was just liberal welfare policies and all that that kept blacks from progressing while other minorities grew and prospered, but no, it is these wackos from Bill Ayers to Jeremiah Wright to other anti-American Afrocentric black liberation theologists with ACORN, and Barack Obama is smack dab in the middle of it, they have been training young black kids to hate, hate, hate this country, and they trained their parents before that to hate, hate, hate this country.”
No? Because they didn’t. And Rush holds a rally for the McCain/Palin ticket daily to millions of dittoheads.
Jake, did you miss that Limbaugh quote. Imagine him saying it about white people and let me know if you’d be offended.

Hey guys, don’t believe in anything that Palin and McCain was saying. They are full of lies and hatred. McCain keeps on saying that he was already tested, yes, he was tested when he was a pilot or whatever, but not as a president. They are accusing Barack Obama of “socialism” they are not giving all the words that Barack said, they omitted lots of wordings. FYI, this is how it goes and what it meant:
Asking income-earners of $250,000 plus is not socialism by any stretch of any definition, as the tax paid is not distributed as “handouts” or “give-aways” as Sen. McCain claims, What it does, which what Sen. McCain conveniently omits, is it allows EVERYONE, including Sen. McCain and every “joe-the plumber”, not just those earning under $250K, to reap and enjoy the benefits of lower costs of education and medical care, infra-structure projects and job-creation, to name a few, to which the paid tax is applied. If it is, the McCain campaign ads and rhetoric’s suggest, any plan to increase the tax of big corporations, such as Exxon, would also be “socialism” as the tax they pay are also used for the same programs. People have to understand that if they earn more, the increase in tax is not equal to the money that you earn additionally but only to a percentage of it. That has always been the case. If “Joe-the-plumber’s” “American Dream” is thwarted by the fear of paying more tax, his dream is probably un-realistic and, I dare say, perhaps, his attitude un-typically “un-American”. Really, if Joe-the-plumber or Jack-the-bricklayer, or Jean-the-seamstress, has the realistic opportunity of adding to his/her income of more than $250k, would he/she stop pursuing the American dream of being more economically comfortable, even wealthier, for fear of paying more tax and, therefore, contributing to the country’s well-being in terms of the benefits the additional tax brings home to ALL? Americans are absolutely not selfish and un-American like the “Joe-the-plumber” and McCain-Palin campaigners and supporters represent. The Americans I know and admire are not socialist. I do not characterize being community-conscious, unselfish, neighbourly and being brothers-and-sisters-keepers as a fault or un-American. I call it as being simply, yet nobly, being Americans.

Posted by: Marym | October 23, 2008, 12:42 pm 12:42 pm

I’m sure you guys have heard by now that the right-wingnuts are spreading the claim that Obama is REALLY going to Hawaii to “fix” his birth certificate to hide the fact he’s not American.
And they’re not even embarrassed by the fact that a)his birth certificate wouldn’t BE in Hawaii if he hadn’t been born there, and b)the FEC would have verified his citizenship when he filed his nomination papers.
I don’t know whether I should be shocked at their ignorance or just laugh at their chutzpah (and lack of dignity).

The owner of a company hired by the California Republican Party to register voters was arrested over the weekend on charges of voter registration fraud and perjury, officials said on Monday.
Mark Jacoby is accused of fraudulently registering himself to vote at a Los Angeles address where he no longer resides — his boyhood home — to meet a state law requiring all signature gatherers to register or be eligible to vote in California.
He did this twice, in 2006 and 2007, according to a statement issued by the California secretary of state, Debra Bowen. A spokeswoman for Bowen said investigators found the home at the address where he registered was no longer owned by Jacoby’s family.
Authorities also are investigating complaints that Jacoby’s company, Young Political Majors, or YPM, improperly registered voters as Republicans, said Ed Miller, a deputy district attorney for Los Angeles County.
The Los Angeles Times has reported that dozens of voters claimed they had been duped by YPM employees into switching parties and registering as Republicans when they were asked to sign a petition seeking tougher penalties against child molesters.

Then you should acknowledge that taxes do not go up once you hit $110K but rather in that quintile.
Same policy analysis says for people in the 95 to 99 percentile in income would have an average tax increase of $121.
Same policy analysis also points out how much bigger a tax cut Obama gives to many more people in the middle & working class.

More knowledge than you haters probably. And to say he is violent!!? When was the last time he was booked on an offense? Would Betonce marry a violent man? Would a violent man be able to have the wealth and popularity that he has? And to knock on Lebron…what the reasoning!? He went straight from high school to the NBA. What is wrong with him? No violence or drug use. No kind of rap sheet. You hating because they make more dough than you!? You people will b@itch about the dumbest and littlest things just to make a scene out of it!! If Insain McCain and Barbie can have their country artist open for them, why can’t Obama have Jay Z. Contrary to what you might think, Jay-Z would not have all of the money that he has if it wasn’t for the young “white” fans listening to it. Trust me, they listen to his music and other hip-hop stars and love LeBron James and others just as much. This is what young folks are listening to and Obama represents everyone one (young, old, rich, poor, hip-hop, and country) at his rallys. So have no fear and don’t be in denial. Music is maybe the one thing that transends racial lines.

Seems very appropriate given what’s been going (wr)on(g) in this campaign.

It’s so funny to hear people say BUT. But McCain said this, McCain did that, Palin said this Palin said that so what. Well here’s what, you call Palin and McCain nasty and hateful, but then Obama or one of his supporters do it and it’s always a BUT behind it, if you have to say BUT about Obama’s actions then he is just as nasty and hateful. Growing up my Grandmother always said to me,when I would say but their parents let them do it and she would say “if all of your friends jump off a cliff does that mean that you are going to do it also”? just because the other person does it, there is no justification for you doing the same thing, especially if you know that it’s wrong.

“Obama has won it. Lets get that out of the way.”
If he does, we will. Here’s why:
1. Obama has two outstanding character flaws. Like Carter, he hesitates, and he is thin-skinned.
2. He will not be able to keep his promises. The money isn’t there and no amount of pandering will change that. So it won’t take more than six months for the grass roots to turn brown, then dry up and blow away.
3. Our international adversaries will wait for him to dip in the polls which won’t be longer than that six months to create the crisis Biden is talking about. Obama will handle it badly just as Joe alluded to. His numbers will then drop precipitously.
4. Pelosi will keep spreading the money machine wealth but the midterms will not go their way because the electorate is exhausted and wise to their bag of tricks.
By the third year of his single term, the nation will be gridlocked. Failure to move forward with infrastructure spending thus losing the opportunity to create real jobs will cost them the White House.
He’s a one termer for the sake of American rectitude. The kids will be tired of suffering for the sins of the baby boomers. His successor will be a white woman named Palin or Clinton.
Get used to it. It’s a lock.

“If a white entertainer said such disgusting things there would be an uprising”
Jackie Mason
If he was a tall white man or a short Jew, do you think after two years in the Senate having accomplished nothing that he would be the hottest candidate for the Presidency? It’s inconceivable that he would be. It’s exactly the opposite of what people think and like to say, that somehow if you’re Jewish or you’re black, the world is against you and it’s impossible to run for high office or ever to win.
That’s a great cliché, but it’s also a great fraud. You have every advantage if you’re black. I don’t want to belittle the fact that black people were always discriminated against and suffered great injustices in this country; they certainly have. But that’s in the past, that’s nothing to do with today. Let’s stop living in the past. The simple fact is if you’re black and you want to run for President, and if you’re tall, that’s enough. If you say hello without starting a riot, they’re ready to vote for you.

When a couple of guys, they were up to no good. Startin’ makin’ trouble in my neighborhood. I got into one little fight, and my mom got scared and she said, “You’re moving with your auntie and uncle to Bel-Air.” I whistled for a cab and when it came near, the liscense plate said FRESH and it had dice in the mirror. If anything I said that this can’t be real, but then aww forget it, yo homes to Bel-Air. Obama has consistently shown disdain for woman (likable, sweetie, claws come out etc.) He pays them 77 cents on the dollar as compared to his male staffers, as opposed to McCain who pays them as much or more. McCain also has more woman in top positions than men.
Obama could not bring himself to ask Hillary to be VP, and now says woman should consult their families, doctor and pastor before having an abortion. Valley Queen,
Comparing the atrocities of Slavery and the almost complete detruction of the Native Americans is i’m sure something that could take up a 1000 blogs- My only point was that there are many different types of “Real Americans”- And the Fact that Ms. Palin feels that the Rural WHITE American (Because that’s what she’s really saying)is the real american is a diservice to the spirit of this country- We are in this togethor and we should be working togethor to save this great country of ours- Because I choose to criticize this country for things that i see can be better does not make me less American- The spirit of the Founding Fathers was to be critical thinkers and stand up for your rights when you are not being represented which is the right of every American.

I live in Chicago with 10 million people. I’m white and went to a magnet high school with over 60% black and 20% hispanic.. Whitney Young Magnet. ONLY when you live with people who are different than you are can you learn that we are all brothers and sisters and learn to love one another. Palin loves the poor, white, uneducated, rural white person because they will do whatever their Pastor tells them to do. They have NO idea what a city is like or the problems that plague our cities. The Republicans DO NOT represent America, only a small, ideological sliver of it… that is NOT what we need. We NEED someone to put racism/ignorance (because they are the same thing) behind us in this country and point us in a direction where we are all picking one another up and moving forward. Without diversity this wouldn’t BE America.

you all seem to hate the evil rich people…but if we tax them all until they are poor too, who will provide a job for you? Or I guess the better question would be who will pay for your government handouts?

Nov4IsComing, I couldn’t have said it better. If you want a preview of the excuses that will be made when McCain gets trounced in this election, all you need to do is listen to talk radio. The Limbaughs, Hannitys, etc., are already laying the groundwork for right-wing grievances. It’s brilliant. Transparent, but brilliant.
—————————————-
So…because you don’t like what they have to say…they are lying? Perhaps you should do your own research…they are just calling it like it is. They have never called him a Muslim or a terrorist.
Nevermind…this is pointless…Obama could come out tomorrow and say that he is working with Al Quaeda and all of you would overlook it and say it’s ok because we need change. It’s sad that America has been brainwashed.

Same policy analysis also points out how much bigger a tax cut Obama gives to many more people in the middle & working class.
—————————————
I used the tax calulator and Obama’s tax cut is only $600 more than McCains. Sooo…how is his $600 supposed to really help me out. Will $600 solve all of your problems?
Now, my husband works for a small business (office furniture dealership) with 4 sales people. Their gross income is well over $500k…but their profits are only around $40,000. With Obama’s tax increases on them, not only will my husband not get a raise, we will probably lose our benefits through the company.
Again, I ask you…what good will Obama’s $600 do when we lose out benefits and forego our annual raise to keep up with inflation.
Now, with McCain’s tax cuts, not only could we preserve our benefits and get our annual salary, the company could afford to give Christmas bonuses. This, I would gladly trade my $600 tax cut for.
This is not rocket science people. It’s basic economic law.

I’ve seen that Obama has the right temperament to mend wounds and advance the Country….
————————————–
Yeah…Obama is really mending wounds and bringing people together now, isn’t he….kind of like he is turning the middle class against the very people that provide jobs for them and invest into the economy. Damn those successful people who keep me gainfully employed. They should suffer for their success and hard work.

Deanna, your comment about your husbands employer is interesting. i think you might be a little off though: if his employer’s gross is over 500k, i’m guessing your talking about annual sales. after payroll and deductions, your saying their net income is 40,000? if they are only reporting 40,000 in taxable income for the year, then they would get a tax cut under Obama as well. yeah, everybody wins under Obama’s tax policy!!

Brian,
They’re not lying because I don’t like what they have to say, they’re lying because, well…they’re lying.

Somehow I just don’t think a Jay-Z song is dignified for the office of President of the United States. That is why McCain/Palin will win the oval office.

There is no excuse for this. Obama should denounce this misogyny and kick JayZ off his campaign.
I will NEVER vote for this enabler of woman hate.

Methinks Deanna needs to brush up on her understanding of tax law.

Obama hasn’t won it–Joe the Plumber and Joe the Gaffer are holding him back. He won’t even let Joe the Gaffer give the state of the party address while he’s out of town. His wife is going to give it. As far as changing the words to 99? It doesn’t matter because everybody knows what the original words are and that’s will they’ll be thinking. Obama disrespects women and will not be getting many of their votes because of it. He needs to pay equal money to women. He needs more women in high positions.

Ahh, our news media at its finest.

America is sexist, racist, and whatever else ends in ist. McCain is also sexist he was in the Military!! So if you think that Palin belongs in the whitehouse because she is a woman, then should not call yourself a woman. Most woman are married to men who are sexist, its just how these men were raised and how this society has allowed it along with sterotypes of black people and spanish and all other non Anglo-Saxons.
This vote will be important because sooner or later the way Bush has screwed this country we may need water and food from other countries. When you don’t make the economy fair, you will have more crime, which is starting, State Budgets are struggling, Layoffs, homelessness. The list goes on. All this equals 3rd world country. So keep voting for people who live in 13 homes, and have no clue about the economy because they are a kept man. His wife wearing $300,000 suits and spending $800,000 a month credit card bills. How can he know what the average american is going through? But yet Obama is an elitist? His wife wears dresses $110.00- to $200.00, shops at walmart, gap. Shakes peoples hands, check out the last debate, Cindy held her hands behind her back and stayed 12in away from the audience. Who wants a first lady who can not shake your hand? Yes she does charitable work, and they adopted and Indian baby, but she is not first lady material.

Dimples,
where does one buy a $300,000 suit? Also, I wonder what benefits one gets from charging $800,000 a month on a credit card- that is like 40 times the spending requirement of the AmEx black card, impressive…

It may have been alot out of line for Jay-Z to dedicate that song to McCain we need more positive things in this campaign and not so much negatives

ha! i got 99 problems and i pray that mccain dont become the 100th! if you so called americans are smart…you’ll do the same..oh yeah! jay-z is a legend please don’t act like he’s being ignorant he’s being real what alot of you people fear these days. IT’S TIME FOR A CHANGE!!!

Palin has more expertise in Economy than Obama, more executive experience and more history fighting corruption. Obama was a politician in the most politically corrupt city in the U.S. but never spoke out against it.

Barack Obama President of the United States of America enough said. The American people spoke LOUD & CLEAR he won by a land slide. What you got to say now, I CAN’T HEAR YOU!
