Biden: McCain ‘Used to Be a Close Friend’

ABC News’ Matt Jaffe reports: Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., can barely mention Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., without calling the Republican presidential candidate "a good friend," but while ripping GOP campaign tactics today, Biden used the past tense when referring to the two lawmakers’ friendship.

"He used to be a close friend," the Democratic vice presidential nominee said of McCain at a mid-day San Francisco area fundraiser. "What’s being done, is a constant attempt to win by actually making, appealing to the cynicism of American people and the sense that government cannot work."

Even while blasting McCain on the campaign trail, Biden still calls his GOP opponent "a good friend" so frequently that two weeks ago NBC’s "Saturday Night Live" parodied the Delaware lawmaker’s habit.

"Look, I love John McCain," SNL’s Jason Sudeikis said in his impersonation of Biden’s veep debate performance. "He is one of my dearest friends, but at the same time, he is also dangerously unbalanced. I mean, let’s be frank, John McCain — and again this is a man I would take a bullet for — he’s bad at his job and mentally unstable."

Despite what he denounced as "scurrilous" Republican tactics, Biden today expressed confidence that voters are "smart" and "tough" enough to elect the Democratic ticket.

"We dumb them down a little too much," Biden said. "I think we don’t think they’re as smart and as tough as they are. They are smart and they are tough."

"It’s totally within our wheelhouse. We can do this," Biden said confidently of the Democratic ticket’s chances, before adding a note of caution. "But anybody who thinks that we’re going to be elected, and all of a sudden, you know, the birds are going to start chirping and everything is going to come out is wrong."

At the Atherton home of former state comptroller Steve Westly, who made an unsuccessful bid for California governor two years ago, Biden joked with the audience about being the fourth most senior senator, but still being younger than 39 of his fellow lawmakers.

"I am getting so tired of this, I am the senior guy on the ticket. I can’t stand it man," said the 65-year-old Biden, who then downplayed the veep slot to a member of the audience. "If I had known it was gonna get this way, John, I would have never left Senate chairmanship of the Foreign Relations Committee. You know, the vice presidency ain’t much to begin with, you know what I mean?"

In response, a supporter in the crowd called out to the six-term senator, "At least you know what a vice president does!"

"Right now our vice president does too damn much," Biden replied with a laugh.

Uh, well, when asked during the debate what the VP did, the 6 term senator, like got it wrong….
I am voting for McCain, but I have always respected Biden. If he could just get the mouth in sync with the brain….
He has great foreign relations experience but I will say, if not for Sara Palin, the media would be all over his verbal gaffes…

Fellow Sportsman,
Hello, my name is Rich Pearson and I have been active in the firearm rights movement for over 40 years. For the past 15 years, I have served in the Illinois state capitol as the chief lobbyist for the Illinois State Rifle Association.
I lobbied Barack Obama extensively while he was an Illinois State Senator. As a result of that experience, I know Obama’s attitudes toward guns and gun owners better than anyone. The truth be told, in all my years in the Capitol I have never met a legislator who harbors more contempt for the law-abiding firearm owner than does Barack Obama.
Although Obama claims to be an advocate for the 2nd Amendment, his voting record in the Illinois Senate paints a very different picture. While a state senator, Obama voted for a bill that would ban nearly every hunting rifle, shotgun and target rifle owned by Illinois citizens. That same bill would authorize the state police to raid homes of gun owners to forcibly confiscate banned guns. Obama supported a bill that would shut down law-abiding firearm manufacturers including Springfield Armory, Armalite, Rock River Arms and Les Baer. Obama also voted for a bill that would prohibit law-abiding citizens from purchasing more than one gun per month.
Without a doubt, Barack Obama has proven himself to be an enemy of the law abiding firearm owner. At the same time, Obama has proven himself to be a friend to the hardened criminal. While a state senator, Obama voted 4 times against legislation that would allow a homeowner to use a firearm in defense of home and family.
Does Barack Obama still sound to you like a “friend” of the law-abiding gun owner?
And speaking of friends, you can always tell a person by the company they keep. Obama counts among his friends the Rev. Michael Pfleger – a renegade Chicago priest who has openly called for the murder of gun shop owners and pro-gun legislators. Then there is his buddy Richard Daley, the mayor of Chicago who has declared that if it were up to him, nobody would be allowed to own a gun. And let’s not forget Obama’s pal George Soros – the guy who has pumped millions of dollars into the UN’s international effort to disarm law-abiding citizens.
Obama has shown that he is more than willing to use other people’s money to fund his campaign to take your guns away from you. While a board member of the leftist Joyce Foundation, Barack Obama wrote checks for tens of millions of dollars to extremist gun control organizations such as the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence and the Violence Policy Center.
Does Barack Obama still sound to you like a “friend” of the law-abiding gun owner?
By now, I’m sure that many of you have received mailings from an organization called “American Hunters and Shooters Association(AHSA)” talking about what a swell fellow Obama is and how he honors the 2nd Amendment and how you will never have to worry about Obama coming to take your guns. Let me make it perfectly clear – everything the AHSA says about Obama is pure hogwash. The AHSA is headed by a group of left-wing elitists who subscribe to the British view of hunting and shooting. That is, a state of affairs where hunting and shooting are reserved for the wealthy upper-crust who can afford guided hunts on exclusive private reserves. The AHSA is not your friend, never will be.
In closing, I’d like to remind you that I’m a guy who has actually gone nose to nose with Obama on gun rights issues. The Obama I know cannot even begin to identify with this nation’s outdoor traditions. The Obama I know sees you, the law abiding gun owner, as nothing but a low-class lummox who is easily swayed by the flash of a smile and a ration of rosy rhetoric. The Obama I know is a stony-faced liar who has honed his skill at getting what he wants – so long as people are willing to give it to him.
That’s the Barack Obama I know.
The ISRA is the state’s leading advocate of safe, lawful and responsible firearms ownership. Founded in 1903, the ISRA has represented the interests of millions of law-abiding Illinois firearm owners.

Joe Biden – Go back to the Senate!
If you have the – you know what – be honest with the American people about Barack Obama – a MARXIST, who may end up becoming President of the United States of America.
Shame on you hypocrite Joe Biden!
Oh! I know…you would not know anything about “character” and “judgement” – after all you have already abandoned a Presidential bid because you were caught “plagiarizing”!
Perhaps you can abandon your Vice Presidential bid before the country BOOOOOS you for one more time – after Marxist Obama has destroyed it.
You should wash you mouth before speaking about Senator McCain.
Get lost Marxist DemocRATS!

At a time that Europe is awakening up – turning to the “right” after years of “failed socialism” it would be a crime to elect Marxist Obama as the next President of the United States of America.
Even France learned the lessons of its “failed socialism” and elected conservative Nicholas Sarkozy – a staunch friend of the United States. And here we are – Americans are about to let our country destroyed by MARXIST BARACK OBAMA!
Video: Sarkozy’s Speech Before Congress
The following video is for the geopolitically savvy and morally sound American patriots – not for the “Obama Communust Youth”!
France’s new leader Nicolas Sarkozy gave a speech before Congress that was, dare I say, almost…Reaganesque. He called America “the greatest nation,” among other platitudes.
You can view the whole thing here, and I really think you should all watch it.
http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/video_sarkozys_speech_before_congress/
He speaks of America in such glowing terms that you almost wonder if he isn’t, in some ways, more American than certain Democrats I could think of.
What’s particularly interesting is that, years ago when the Bush presidency was new and Iraq was a fresh issue, the left told us constantly that George Bush was making America less popular in the world. Yet during the President’s term in office three of our traditional allies (Canada, Germany and now France) elected leaders that displaced virulently anti-Bush and anti-American leaders with people more of Sarkozy’s temperament (Stephen Harper in Canada and Angela Merkel in Germany).
Sort of almost seems like…that whole “less popular America” thing just isn’t true.

The Republicans are nasty and frightening. If you don’t agree with them you are a commie-liberal-leftist-anti-American. Apparently northern Virginia is now communist anti-american, are are huge swaths of this country. Its crazy for a party go so far out of their way to alienate so much of the population. I’ve never seen so much mental illness on such a grand scale.

The socialist programs that Obama suggests are the same type of socialist programs that brought about the economic crisis – one and the same.
Joe the Plumber brought the economic crisis into focus by pointing out that the Obama tax plan to redistribute wealth is the same sort of flawed thinking that brought about the collapse to the loan industry and rolled into Wall Street.

They’ve been helping redistribute the wealth from the lower and middle income groups and making sure it goes to the top 5% rich people.

The great irony of Joe the Plumber is it was McCain who thrust him into the spotlight by mentioning him repeatedly in the last debate.
McCain attempting to cash in on the plumber’s back has caused that man the harassment McCain is currently trying to blame on Obama. How pathetic.
And further irony, in reality the plummer was earning something like $40,000 per year and would benefit under the Obama’s tax plan, not under McCain’s.

SOCIALISM WILL BE THE FALL OF AMERICA
Your response is a terrific example of ‘moral relativism’ where by the consequences of ‘your beliefs’ conflict with that of ‘someone else’, me. The ‘right’ to health care, you believe exists, in reality, does not.
As so many other perceived rights bandied about, your affirmation, ‘I believe is a right’, describes your personal desires. The subject “is” of a “moral nature” that has ignited, once again, conflict.
The consequences of the, yours vs. mine, morality argument is “very real” and “costly” for many people of the opposing view. What must follow always results in “mandates”, “controls”, and “taking more taxes”.
“My” freedom of choice now diminished and “my” paycheck smaller. I now have to “obey” what I previously did not have to. I am now worse off than before.
I learned in college economics this one axiom; Wants and desires are never ending. This “human trait” is why our founders demanded a “limited government” as “originally intended” and enumerated in our rule book, the Constitution.
Why elections matter so much:
Alexander Fraser Tyler, Cycle of Democracy (1770)
A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury.
From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over lousy fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.
The average of the world’s great civilizations before they decline has been 200 years. These nations have progressed in this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; from faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to selfishness; from selfishness to Complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependency; from dependency back again to bondage.”

very intersting read. i too believe, sadly, america is on its way out. im 30 years old, semi “schooled” on history of civilizations and their eventual downfall, and i couldnt agree more. FULL BLOWN SOCIALISM IS THE NEXT STEP IN COMPLETE FAILURE OF OUR NATION. and the worst part of it is, that you dont even have to be a scholar in history to know this just dosent feel right. thats why i cant vote for barack obama. his supporters say “well we already have socialim in america”, or “you just dont care about the poor” or a whole other list of things regarding the socialism question. call it whatever you want, with obama, we will have more government handouts. there is absolutely no disputing this. you can argue whether it is right or wrong, but there is no argument that it will be this way. as karl marx said “socialism is the next step before communism”. it may take awhile, but i believe this to be true.

With the economy falling as it is, American’s will thank God they have the right to be armed if the economy collaspes. Obama has never once supported our 2nd amendment rights. People don’t realise that Hitler rose out of an economy such as ours in the 1930′s. It is the foremost reason assault weapons are very important. Todays tyrants use automatic weapons….we will be at a disadvantage with semi-auto weapons but we will have the advantage of a people’s army! If you think a tyrant can’t arise…think again folks. James, do you have any weapons or sharp objects within reach? Please let us know so the authorities can be immediately contacted.
—————————————
We need to keep pressing Gramps McCain on his association with G Gordon Liddy, one of the most evil and coldhearted people in American History, something I’m sure he hates talking about when the cameras are on.
Last November, McCain went on his radio show. Liddy greeted him as “an old friend,” and McCain sounded like one. “I’m proud of you, I’m proud of your family,” he gushed. “It’s always a pleasure for me to come on your program, Gordon, and congratulations on your continued success and adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great.”
In 1994, Liddy offered some advice to the Branch Davidians who were under seige from Feds..his advice? “Shoot for the head, they are wearing bulletproof vests” Later he amended that to, “You can probably get them in the groin, too”..
And then finally, this little anecdote..”when I do my target practice, I name my two targets Bill and Hillary”

SMC: I hear you but I disaree with one thing. It doesn’t matter who wins because they’ll have no money. The federal reserve can print all the money in the world….out of thin air. Dictators arise out of unhappy people. Post war Germany was broke prior to WW2…it didn’t stop them. People who disconnect from real history always repeat it.

You’re sad Biden, never thought I’d see the day you would whore yourself to such an extent. Amazing that you were for sale for VP. Guess you’re transparent, it was the only way you could get near the whitehouse.
You’d be better to just shut up Joe, you’re not smart enough to stay out of trouble even with the help of the liberal media.

kennedy…
but this is part of our current problem. the government is printing new money at a records pace. thats one of the main reasons the dollar is going down the toilet. because our precious government wants to please everyone, they have been spending what we dont have. so, it gets to the point where you can print all the money in the world, but it means nothing. it may as well be monopoly money, because it will have no value. the fall of capitalism.

Tim: I’m not letting the republicans off the hook! Both party’s have been a disaster! They both took 700 billion from us without debating it. They are both supported by a few big bankers. Obama by Soros, this man is very dangerous. Bush by the Fed which is a small group of private banks that have most the money of the world. As Thomas Jefferson said, this is extemely dangerous to freedom.

yeah, just to make a comment on the “soap opera” of a presidential race we have, it is a little funny that a year ago, joe biden said he would “be honored to serve with john mccain”. now he is down playing their friendship. at that same time he said “barack obama is not qualified to be president of the united states”. ahhhh, amazing what a year on the campaign trail can do huh??!!

i completely agree!!! the republicans have TOTALLY lost their backbone. they dont stand for anything anymore. total sellouts. thats why i tell people, its sooooo important to go back to the “bailout” bill, and take note of who voted “no” the first time, and who held their ground and voted “no” again the second time around. i know exactly what my senators and representatives from my state did regarding this socializing of our economic sector. and i will vote accordingly. we ALL need to pay more attention and hold these cowards accountable!!!!

Posted by: tim | October 18, 2008, 9:18 pm 9:18 pm

You know, I believe socialism wouldn’t be such a bad thing if you could wipe the evil part of man out of his body but, until either God cleans up this part of humanity or the aliens bring a light saber and cut it out of man, it will never lead to a good thing. The constitution was written to control the greed of man…a wonderful document….too bad the congress doesn’t follow it. Can you imagine how it would be, right now, if we didn’t have the document to kind of keep them under control?

Posted by: kennedy | October 18, 2008, 9:22 pm 9:22 pm

Nice going Joe! McCain is not the same man he once was. He has sold his soul to the dark side. It’s sad..
Democracy works only if citizens are informed with truthful information and use critical thinking skills to choose. I read very thoughtful discussions with valid opinions. I also noticed some posts are spreading hatred and toxic misleading information. If we let the toxic poison seep into our society unchecked, it can destroy the health of what America stand for. We would be better served to focus our energy on meaningful discussions on which candidate’s plan is better for America.
A word of caution for the people repeatedly spreading hatred and toxic misleading claims. Not only they are doing a disservice to the nation, the likelihood for the poison affecting their own blood stream is very high. Once that happens and unbeknown to them, they will lose their sense of right from wrong, lose their ability to relate to people and work, lose their capacity to love and appreciate goodness and beauty in life.
For their own sake and the people around them, I hope they will stop before it is too late. Go get some help if needed..

again, well said. i totally agree. could you imagine if our constitution wasnt as well written as it is?! i can guarantee you, we wouldnt have lasted this long. but we have been around just long enough for greed, and corruption to really start taking its toll. another HUGE part of this race that isnt getting as much attention as it should, is the fact that the next president may be able to appoint up to 3 new supreme court justices. that is absolutely huge. and with a guy as liberal as obama, you can guarantee judges that want to legislate from the bench versus interpret the constitution. just plain scary.

All of you “experts” on Joe Biden should do some research before you post. You want to talk about how the candidates twist things all the time…take a look at what you’re writing! We, in Delaware, did not elect him to SIX terms in the Senate because he is a stupid liar…..get real!!!

socialism, muslim, un-american, he’s an arab …this is incredible! if any of the mccain supporters are able to conceive an independent thought then they would realize mccain’s entire platform is built on a bed of falsehoods and they have absolutely nothing new to bring to the table. if john mccain was really “country first” then he would have never selected sarah palin. she brings nothing but butchered english diction and liabilities to the campaign. speaking of campaign, can we agree that mccain’s campaign has no substance so they resort to making up “important” topics like:
-joe the plumber
-joe six pack
-hockey moms
-lipstick on pigs
-mccain’s “suspend the campaign” stunt
-the dangers of william ayers & co.
-lies about obama’s tax plan
-lies about obama’s voting record in IL & the U.S. Senate
-lies about the obama’s earmarks
-ACORN
-”who is barrack obama”
they are robo calling people in swing states to tell them obama & ayers are terrorist buddies. they are yelling “kill him, treason, terrorist, communist, socialist at palin/mccain rally’s. when was the last time you heard a presidential candidate linked to terrorist? and throughout everything i mentioned, none of mccain’s tactics are aimed at informing you on how his presidency will benefit us as a whole. he’s washed up and needs to retire from the senate and enjoy the life that he has left. he’s a hero and we respect his contributions & service but he does not have any real solutions to help the american people. mccain’s campaign has done nothing but divide us. take your blind folders off. we are drowning economically and as long as someone has a life jacket, it should not matter what color they are. yes, i’m sure you don’t think you are a racist but you might not even realize you harbor these deeply embedded thoughts. mccain’s campaign is using every code word, adjective to tear him down without saying “don’t vote for barrack obama because he’s black”.

ALBANY, N.Y. – Gov. David Paterson’s chief of staff, who blamed clinical depression on the more than $200,000 he had to repay in five years of back taxes, has the full confidence of his boss, the governor’s spokeswoman said Saturday.
Chief of Staff Charles J. O’Byrne, a former Jesuit priest who officiated at the wedding and funeral of John F. Kennedy Jr., didn’t pay state and federal taxes from 2001 to 2005. He was on the state payroll for part of that time. He now is paid $178,500 as the Democratic governor’s powerful top aide.

Complaint Hits Rezko and Obama Land Deal: Fired Official Says Appraisal Replaced
Saturday, October 18, 2008
A former Illinois bank official, now claiming whistleblower status, says bank officials replaced a loan reappraisal that he prepared for a Chicago property that was purchased by the wife of now-convicted felon Tony Rezko, part of which was later sold to next-door neighbor Barack Obama.
In a complaint filed Thursday in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Kenneth J. Connor said that his reappraisal of Rita Rezko’s property was replaced with a higher one and that he was fired when he questioned the document.

According to the complaint, Mr. Connor reviewed the appraisal of the Rezko property by another firm, Adams Appraisal, which had set the value at $625,000. Mr. Connor’s complaint said that he told his bosses in a report that the property had been overvalued by at least $125,000 and that a “reasonable and fair evaluation” should have been no greater than $500,000.
Later, the complaint states, Mr. Connor observed that his lower appraisal was not in the Rezko file and that he notified his supervisors that it had been replaced. He said, according to the complaint, the new file had been reviewed by the FBI and “if the FBI were to ask me about such matters, I would tell them the truth. I never rescinded my original findings.”
Critics of Mr. Obama’s dealings with Rezko charge that the senator may have gotten a deal on his property purchase, noting that Mrs. Rezko paid the full asking price for her property on an adjacent lot. Both of which were sold by a single seller. Mr. Obama bought his house for $1.65 million – $300,000 below the asking price.
When the property was sold, Mr. Obama knew Rezko was under investigation on fraud charges.
The complaint said the Rezko loan was approved by Mutual Bank President and CEO Amrish Mahajan and others so that Mrs. Rezko could buy a 9,090-square-foot vacant parcel of real estate. It said that in January 2006, Mrs. Rezko and Mr. Obama, along with his wife Michelle, signed an agreement to sell a 10-foot strip of the property to the Obamas. At that point, according to the complaint, Mr. Connor’s firm asked him to conduct the reappraisal.

10 years from now Our children will read how a Marxist obama adminisation came into power and destroyed America. and the fault will lie with the media

Posted by: common sense | October 18, 2008, 9:47 pm 9:47 pm

well, folks
so much to say but so little space and audience, but here goes:
this country was founded on the principle of democracy and was to be governed as a republic. each individual was to be responsible for himself and his family. if he needed help he could turn to the community, family, friend, and church for help until he got back on his feet. personal responsibility was honored back then. and in turn would be there to help others. it was not the place for government to indiscriminately dole out dollars because that was not the intended purpose of the government.
but in ensuing years the bleeding hearts have slowly but surely taken over and personal responsibility for many means nothing. just stick your hand out for the government and its bureaucracy to fill it.
and now we are pretty much at the crossroads where socialism cannot be retracted. but if obama is elected, it will be the final death toll for the United States of America as a democratic republic.
since the late forties, hollywood has been a major driving force in the socialistic/communistic direction. senator mccarthy tried to do something about it in the fifties but the commies came out in the end. my point now being that all conservatives need to stand up and boycott movies and movie stars coming out of hollywood. they have been brainwashing people for many many years through the underlying tint of socialism in movies, and we need to stop it NOW! most people don’t even realize what is happening due to the slow but sure indoctrination. BOYCOTT HOLLYWOOD, MOVIES, AND CELEBRITIES!!

Posted by: Goldenboy | October 18, 2008, 9:52 pm 9:52 pm

Throughout history there has been negative campaigning but what we are experiencing since Sarah Palin joined the campaign is a rally cry for hatred and division. It is not a show of strength or intelligence to make appeals to the worst of human emotions. It doesn’t show leadership to incite violance. We cannot afford to have leaders that appeal to the worst mankind has to offer. We are a great country and we must unite in the purpose of showing each other and the rest of the world our very best.

Sheri,
I know Joe has done good things for Delaware….I lived in the town of Claymont which Joe talks about. (it’s not heaven) I’ll say it again…he is as anti second amendment as you can get….his record supports this.
If there is a run on the banks (you’ll need lots of protection when food disappears) and George makes himself king then you will thank God above for the amendment.
A SIMILAR AND TERRIBLE FINANCIAL MELTDOWN HAPPENED IN A SOUTH AMERICA COUNTRY IN 2001.
THE COUNTRY HAD TOO MUCH DEBT. TOO MUCH TRADE DECIFIT. TOO MUCH FISCAL DEFICIT. THE
PERFECT FORMULA FOR A FINANCIAL MELTDOWN.
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED:
1) SMART MONEY START TO TAKE DEBT IN LOCAL CURRENCY FIRST. AND BUY FOREING ASSETS.
2) A “BILL” WAS APPROVED TO GUARANTEE THE DEPOSITS OF THE PEOPLE. ( LIKE NOW
WITH THE FDIC NEW LIMITS)
3) LATER, FOREIGN INVESTORS AND BANKS TAKE THEIR MONEY OUT OF THE COUNTRY
4) A “BANK HOLIDAY” WAS ESTABLISHED. PEOPLE WERE NOT ALLOWED TO ACCESS THEIR
SAVINGS. ACCOUNTS WITH FOREIGN CURRENCIES WERE “STOLEN” AND CONVERTED TO LOCAL
CURRENCY.
AT THE SAME TIME LOCAL CURRENCY VALUE START PLUMMETING 200%.
5) PEOPLE GOT FINANCIALLY TRAPPED
6) DEBTORS IN FOREIGN NOMINATED DEBT GOT BUSTED.
7) CREDITORS OF LOCAL NOMINATED DEBT GOT BUSTED
8) FEW PEOPLE GOT REALLY RICH
9) BANKS FELL DOWN.
10) FOOD SHORTAGE
11) GROUPS OF PEOPLE START ATTACKING MALLS AND GRABBED ALL THE FOOD . FOOD SHORTAGE TOOK
PLACE. POLICE DID NOTHING. THEY WERE OUTNUMBERED.
12) ACCOUNT HOLDERS STARTS PROTESTING IN THE STREET.
13) A KIND OF “MARTIAL LAW” WAS DECREETED. USE OF FORCE WAS ORDERED TO
ESTABLISH ORDER. LOTS OF ARRESTS. SOME PEOPLE GET KILLED
14) THE PRESIDENT IN A NATIONAL SPEECH SAID THAT ALL THE ACCOUNT HOLDERS WILL RECEIVE
THEIR MONEY. THEN HE ADMITTED HE WAS WRONG. THERE WAS NO MONEY LEFT.
15) Lots of provinces were melting down together. Excessive debt.
16) Poor people started to block the roads and demand food. That brought FOOD SHORTAGE
for main cities. Food prices soared quickly.
EVERYTHING IS SOOOOOOO SIMILAR FOR ME.
17) Judicial orders were created to recover the money.
18) Some banks closed the doors even for judicial officials.
19) GDP WENT DOWN -30% IN A SINGLE YEAR.
20) CRIME LEVEL SOARED.

I’m a small business owner. Nearly 50-cents out of every dollar I earn goes to state and federal taxes. Sorry, but I can’t afford to pay any more.
If my personal taxes and the taxes on my business increase after this election I’m going to be left with little choice: I’m going to downsize. The best way to maintain a decent percent of my current income is to reverse the growth of my company.
Sure, I’ll have to pick up a bit of the slack created by the employees I let go, but I should have the time to do that since there’ll be less to do. Plus, I’ll no longer be investing ridiculously long hours in the aggressive pursuit of new opportunities while still managing 30 employees. My payroll will shrink, I’ll travel less, see my wife and kids more and still make roughly the same salary — albeit, I’ll have to defer a large portion of that income into a tax deferred retirement account.
I’ve got a few other ideas on how to essentially maintain the lifestyle I’ve slaved almost 30 years to create:
1) Goodbye to the guy who mows my lawn. I can erase that monthly fee by letting one of my sons handle that job. Heck, they can use the exercise.
2) So long to all the talented chefs and friendly waiters and waitresses my family and I like to patronize once a week. Dining out is one of those luxuries we can do without — no problem, my wife and I love to cook.
3) I’ll be pulling the plug on the carpenters and painters that were scheduled to do a bit of remodeling inside my house — sorry guys, that project is being put on permanent hold.
4) Apologies, as well, to the employees I’ll be letting go. But, no worries, they should be able to make ends meet thanks to the increased taxes folks like me will be paying.
I guess, when you really think about it, the future looks bright as hell.
Cheers!

If you want an administration that wants 5% of the population to get a tax break while 95% can’t pay for gas, vote for McCain/Palin.
If you make less than $250,000 a yr your taxes will go down, more and they go up under Obama/Biden. Poor and middle class getting a small break so they can pay a mortgage. Even a small one. If that is you then vote for Obama/Biden.

Me thinks the Botox has affected Biden brain either that or he has Alzheimer’s.
One day he’s “good friends” with Mccain, the next he’s not.
One day he’s slamming Obama saying “the presidency doesn’t lend itself to on the job training” then he’s Obama’s VP and his beiggest fan.
He makes a verbal “gaffe” everyday, says he’s eats at Katie’s restaurant that has been closed for 15 yrs.
He’s only 4 years younger than McCain but has yet to release his medical records.
Excuse me if I don’t believe anything Biden says. He sounds like a bitter, confused old man who has the nerve to say McCain is mentally unstable when the only person in this race that appears to have brain farts on an everyday basis is Biden.

To “nub-tail”: Nobody thinks gun owners or hunters are inherently stupid or low-class or anything else. That is a myth perpetrated by the GOP to get working class people to vote against their own self-interests and it has, unfortunately, worked in one election after another. The GOP paints itself as an advocate of working class people by playing up its NRA affiliations and then gets elected and does everything it can to stick it to the very people who voted it in. No matter what your particular issue is, be it guns, abortion or whatever, basing your vote on ONE issue and one alone is, I’m sorry, not very smart. There are so many important challenges facing this country. Nobody is going to take your hunting guns away and nobody has ever said they would. If you don’t want to be viewed as stupid, then don’t act the part. At least Obama had the courage to make his “bitter” comment out loud and in public. The GOP does it in back-room “strategy sessions.”
And the gun lovers take the bait every time.

Video: Obama Admits He Supports Marxism
The Obama-KGB-Squad has removed the following video of Obama’s interview with Bill O’Reilly, during which Obama admitted that he supports Marxism. However the text is still available.
Karl Marx, author of The Communist Manifesto, penned the recap of his basic economic philosophy below:
“From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs”
Barack Obama, in an interview with Bill O’Reilly on Fox News, admits that he shares the above Marxist economic theory. Watch this (5:47 into the clip, but watch the whole clip):
http://theconservativepost.com/WordPress/?p=550
“If am sittin’ pretty, and you’ve got a waitress who is making minimum wage plus tips, and I can afford it and she can’t, what’s the big deal for me to say I’m going to pay a little bit more… that is neighborliness”
No Senator, that is Marxism. What kind of dementia makes these liberal Marxists think they have the right to tell someone else, another free human being, how much money they should or should not have? It’s none of your damn business Barack… but the hell out!
And some of you thought I was exaggerating when I said this clown was a Marxist…

The Republicans have been busy helping to redistribute the wealth for the past 8 years.
They’ve been redistributing the wealth from the lower and middle income groups and making sure it goes to the top 5% rich people.
That seems fair heh? 8 more years! 8 more years!

In reality, a small percentage of small business owners are going to be subject to a tax increase under the Obama plan, despite how Gramps McCain has distorted the facts. Don’t forget it’s $250,000 of the NET…and even then, its a 3% increase. If you net more than $250 K, and you have you lay off employees because of a frikkin %3 increase, I’m sorry something doesnt add up.

It amazes me that people are still babbling about “Marxism” in 2008. Obama wants to give a waitress a big tip and he is somehow a Marxist? Where I’m from that makes him a “nice guy.” The guy who is rich and gives a waitress a lousy tip isn’t some sort of “conservative.” He is what we call a “cheap son of a b****.” What confuses me even more is that the very same “conservatives” who rail against “Marxism” also swear they love their country so much. If that is indeed true you should be happy to give as much money as you can to make the USA a better place. Pay your taxes and stop whining about it. If giving up a little more of your cash helps the country, why is that so awful?

Posted by: ralph | October 18, 2008, 11:22 pm 11:22 pm

This past decade Republicans have destroyed this country; illegal war,TEN BILLION a month instead of here in our economy working for Americans, the BIGGEST SOCIALISTS going of all are the Republicans – the BILLIONS bailing out their rich banking friends – SOCIALISM FOR THE RICH, THE LOBBYISTS, THE PRIVATE MILITIAS OVERSEAS, THE WEAPONS MANUFACURERS AND THE BEST ONE – besides those – THE MIDDLE CLASS IS SUPPORTING THE OIL COMPANIES AS WELL. We think it is about time that having a few bucks more for the working poor is not what’s going to hurt this economy; by comparison it is pittance. The tax cuts Democrats suggest would bring us back to the 90′s – the best economy we enjoyed in decades with a massive SURPLUS. Families deserve to make a decent wage so they can feed, clothe and educate their family and look after their health. What could be so wrong with that? – and this is something some fringe Americans see as a threat. They sure have you brain-washed don’t they?

Posted by: nmbr31 | October 18, 2008, 11:23 pm 11:23 pm

Dumb people talking about socialism. Let the truth be told, whenever a republican is in office our country gives out the biggest of handouts. It’s not to our citizens but to the big corporations. It’s not to the poor but to the rich.
The wealth is not spreaded around but is confiscated by the few (5%). And all is well to the ones that have do-do for brains. When they open their mouths nothing comes out but the same do-do that they have been programed to say.
It is true they are nothing but parrots and liars. If they had any sense they could see how they have been lied to by every republican president in recent history.
Joe the plumber is not a licensed plumber. He was lying about buying a business. He’s not even thinking about buying a business. He’s not even thinking about “trying” to buy a business. He’s a true republican. He’s Only thought about, how to lie about, thinking about, trying to buy a business.
Just using simple math we could have used just have of the 700 billion ti “bail” out our economy instead of the whole 700 billion to pad the big boys pockets. Our population is about 350 billion Americans. I propose that instead if giving to the few 700 billion dollars that we give to the many (every single American) a billion dollars and our economy will be stimulated for sure.

It’s Obama’s “Pay or Play” health care plan that will hurt small businesses. Never mind this “Joe the Plumber” 250K stuff. When small companies who cannot afford to give their employees health insurance are forced to by Obama’s “Pay or Play” plan…alot are simply going to layoff employees, ship even more jobs off shore or go out of business because of the huge costs.

To you guys claiming to be small business owners, real American small business owners participate with their local chamber of commerce, know how to use the internet, and will not vote against their own interests. Obama’s policies will help American small business owners create more American jobs and reward them with tax breaks. McCain’s policies will not close loop holes to stop large corporations from shipping jobs out of America and will lower their taxes, to boot. For heavens sake, McCain’s own wife won’t let him participate in her “small” beer business aside from deregulation.

All of you Obama bashers need to consider something: Even if Obama is a rabid Marxist, with a copy of “The Communist Manifesto” tucked under his pillow for easy access, he can’t do whatever he wants when/if he is elected. Consider all the things Bush wanted to do and couldn’t. We have these two large bodies of people called the “House” and the “Senate.” Remember them? Remember your high-school civics class? Even Bush, who has been generally regarded as someone who has greatly expanded the powers of the presidency, failed to accomplish much of want he wanted to do, even with a majority in both the House and Senate behind him. It is irrational to believe that Obama can come in and change America into a “Marxist” country BY HIMSELF. Use your head!

McCain, Bush and the recently defeated Republican congress implemented welfare for big business that ruined our economy. The American people voted out the Republican majority in Congress and we won’t let McBush back in the Oval office. McCain should have shared his secret plan to get Osama with Bush before 2008. The American people do not want to hear his secret, erratic, incomprehensible plan to get us out of this economic crisis-even if it did exist.

I have to suspect that they’re prepared and entered by McCain operatives. Nothing illegal about that; just deceptions to make it appear that a large number of Joe Citizens are voting McCain, when in truth McCain is losing more of the male vote every day, per http://usaelectionpolls.com, among other sources.

I work for a small business that technically has less than 500 employees. I’ve watched my raises steadily decrease from 2002-2005. From 2006-2007, I got cost of living increases. In 2008, I got zilch. In a quarterly meeting, this year, our Chief Financial Officer announced this was our most profitable fiscal year by far. I wonder why the money didn’t trickle down since I got an outstanding evaluation. Why pay employees what they work hard to earn since they got to work anyway, eh?

Obama a Marxist? You gotta be kidding! Clearly you haven’t read his books, where he disavows extremism from both the right and the left with detailed, well-reasoned arguments.
Redistribution of wealth is not at all what he profers, although it’s a neat conservative catch-phrase against Democrats from many decades ago. (McCain’s showing his age again,)
Rather, we are the great country we are because our infrastructure has been unmatched in the world–for example: Schools open to everyone, and free thru even the PhD for those with good-enough grades. (Costs money, though.)
Under Bush’s mindless tax cuts, that infrastructure has been in decline. To fix it, who’s going to pay? With McCain’s furthering of the Bush tax cuts, the well-off (and I guess I’m one of them) are not paying their fair share, and so you should expect further decline in infrastructure, heading toward a 3rd-world country.
I don’t want to live in a 3rd world country, so I am willing to see my taxes go up while the taxes of the middle class and below go down. Plus it’s morally right.

Better yet, continue to tell that to Americans who had to give away 700 billion dollars to bail out wall street crooks. Putting the blame on new home owners, is another lie, similiar to sending jobs overseas because it costs too much to hire Americans. Well, they got what they paid for: poisonous food imports, fake medication imports, poisonous toy imports, disgruntled
Americans who aren’t going to take it anymore, etc.

…And oh, those people here who are mindlessly repeating what the McCain campaign is feeding them about Obama being a Marxist:
The definition is “The political and economic philosophy of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in which the concept of CLASS STRUGGLE plays a central role in understanding society’s allegedly inevitable development from bourgeois oppression under capitalism to a socialist and ultimately classless society.”
It’s the Republicans who have been inadvertently sponsoring “class struggle,” not the Democrats!
For example, during Bush’s 1st term, the buying power of the highest-income people like me INCREASED 2%, but the lowest echelon of taxpayers saw their buying power DECLINE 3%. (See review of the book “Unequal Democracy,” as reviewed and summarized in the Washington Post, Book World, 15 June 2008.)
That is trending toward a 3rd-world country without the stabilizing power of the middle class, and I don’t want to live in one of those.

Biden accuses the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash that killed his wife and daughter of drinking, but the attorney general of delaware at the time says there is no evidence of that. the accident was deemed to be mrs. biden’s fault. biden is off his rocker. his senate website has a transcript of at least one speech he made where he mentions this if anyone cares to dispute it. he has never apologized to the family of the man he accuses, and the man is now dead and unable to defend himself. this makes biden one sick puppy. i was going to vote for him for senate again this year, but now that i’ve seen the trash he has slithered into, i’m going with christine o’donnell.

It is rich, hearing Republicans complain about socialism!
The people to whom Rush Limbaugh is redefining the word are the ones who drive up to the federal office and apply for the subsidies for wheat or corn – sometimes for NOT growing it. My relative works there and she has seen 6-figure checks go out to individuals.
The other people who benefit from Republican socialism are the wealthy corporations and Wall Street fat cats who get tax breaks, subsidies, bailouts and favorable legislation from the likes of John McCain.
McCain supporters, drop the rhetoric about socialism, because you’re busted. It is still socialism, even if farmers and rich corporations receive it.

Obama’s “Not Exactlys”
1.) Selma Got Me Born . . .
NOT EXACTLY, your parents felt safe enough to have you in 1961 – Selma had no effect on your birth, as Selma was in 1965.
(Google ‘Obama Selma’ for his full March 4, 2007 speech and articles about its various untruths.)
2.) My Father Was A Goat Herder . . .
NOT EXACTLY, he was a privileged, well educated youth, who went on to work with the Kenyan Government.
3.) My Father Was A Proud Freedom Fighter . . .

4.) My Family Has Strong Ties To African Freedom . . .
NOT EXACTLY, your cousin Raila Odinga has created mass violence in attempting to overturn a legitimate election in 2007, in Kenya. It is the first widespread violence in decades. The current government is pro-American but Odinga wants to overthrow it and establish Muslim Sharia law. Your half-brother, Abongo Oba ma, is Odinga’s follower. You interrupted your New Hampshire campaigning to speak to Odinga on the phone. Check out the following link for verification of that and for more.
Obama’s cousin Odinga in Kenya ran for president and tried to get Sharia Muslim law in place there. When Odinga lost the elections, his followers burned Christians’ homes and then burned men, women and children alive in a Christian church where they took refuge. Obama SUPPORTED his cousin before the election process here started.
Google “Obama and Odinga” and see what you get. No one wants to know the truth.

6.) My Name is African Swahili . . .
NOT EXACTLY, your name is Arabic and ‘Baraka’ (from which Barack came) means ‘blessed’ in that language. Hussein is also Arabic and so is Obama.

While Barack Hussein Obama’s father was from Kenya, his father’s family was mainly Arabs.. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (it’ll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as ‘one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.’ This is just one example of what Pamela is talking about when she says ‘Obama’s narrative is being altered, enhanced and manipulated to whitewash troubling facts.’

NOT EXACTLY, not one teacher says you could speak the language.

26.) I Have Been A Bold Leader In Illinois . . .
NOT EXACTLY, even your own supporters claim to have not seen BOLD action on your part.

Oh you crazy right wingers. Socialism? You mean like nationalizing the banks? Or do you mean buying up home mortgages?
Because taxation? It isn’t socialism. And it certainly isn’t socialistic to give the middle class a tax break. Besides, McCain supports progressive taxation too. He just wants the wealthiest folks to get the biggest tax breaks, and middle class families to get no additional tax breaks. But he doesn’t support a flat tax.
If you want to talk about socialism, talk about the financial bail out plans of Bush, Paulson, and McCain.

Joe Biden will be an excellent vice president and should the need arise, an excellent president. Barack Obama has the potential to be great. I’m proud to be voting for the team that puts America and its people first.
John McCain has been a major disappointment. I used to consider him an honorable man, but he turned that over to his campaign managers, who destroyed NcCain’s reputation and turned him into a right wing extremist who doesn’t think truth matters–win first, then worry about honor and country. Their strategy backfired.

I’ve always wondered why a normal law-abiding citizen would need to buy assault weapons more than once a month. Isn’t an arsenal of a dozen weapons a year more than enough to abide by the law?

I’m voting for Obama/Biden. Period. There is nothing that any of you can say to convince me otherwise. I am so disgusted over the last eight years, and I cannot believe that you are not. We are LOSING AMERICAN LIVES in Iraq. Period. I don’t care if you think the surge is working. We had NO business being there in the first place without significantly more intel and strategic planning. But, hey, that’s how little the administration valued American soldiers’ lives.
Plus, our economy is tanking. Period. Why is it tanking? Because large corporations do not care about the average person when there are tremendous profits to be made. The oil companies are experiencing record windfall profits. How many new jobs have they created? Where is there forward-thinking investment in alternative energy technology to create a new, sustainable job market and reduce our dependence on foreign oil? It’s nowhere. They absolutely did not do it on their own.
I’m sure people will post witty retorts and talking points to respond to this post. But the fact remains. The previous administration screwed us royally. I see no difference with McCain. I’m voting Obama. Period.

Jim, I find it ironic that you post about McCain with no facts. Typical of cowardly liberals. Obama and Biden wouldn’t have made it at a military academy, they only graduate those who earn it not because of their color or connections. Lets’ look at Obama’s accomplishments – oh yeah, there are none. Let’s look at his economic plan, over and increase of $1 trillion in taxes and if you think it’s coming from the rich you are really stupid. Let’s look at his voting record – in Illinois mostly present in Congress with his party 100% of the time because he can’t think on his own. His own connections, Rezko, Wright, Ayers and Frank the Communist have always told him what to say and think. Without his teleprompter he is far more a bumbling fool than Bush jr. ever was. Proof “That’s above my paygrade.” You have to be an idiot to come up with that. Your candidate has nothing and is nothing. ShadK your lies deceive no one and you address no facts and have no proof so take you r lies back to you koolaid drinking buddies and get ready to cry in it when Obama loses.

I notice you’re not brave enough to put a name to your spewing and blackballing. I’m from Spfld, Illinois and I have a good idea who you are! Your an unapologetic racist and you have an agenda FAR more than gun rights. So type your lengthy little diatribes, WE in Illinois know what time it REALLY is! Time to oust the REPUBLICANS! See ya! Wouldn’t want to be ya, notail.

Someone like “NATASHA” is calling all Democrats “Marxist”? With a Russian name like that, it’s no wonder Natasha is stuck on the nasty “M” word. By the way, “Natasha,” if you’re so against socialism, I hope you will refuse to take any social security or medicare money when you’re eligible. After all, those are basically socialistic in nature. (Sometimes, in a regulated, limited form, socialism can sometimes be a good thing, you know. And almost every country has some socialist programs.)

McCain’s Questionable Ties
Jim Hensley, Convicted Felon
A WWII bombadier, Hensley returned to the United States with an injury sustained while flying over Europe. While recovering, he met Margueritte Smith and left his wife and two-year old daughter for Smith whom he married in 1945. That same year, he and his brother Eugene began working for Kemper Marley, owner of United Sales Company in Phoenix and United Distributors in Tucson, and purported mafia boss. In a 1953 New Mexico State Police report, Kemper Marley, “is reputed to be the financial backer for the bookies” and “owned a wire service formerly operated in connection with bookmaking of the Al Capone gang.” And though never charged, Marley is suspected of ordering the car bomb assassination of journalist Ken Bolles in 1976. In 1948, Jim and Eugene Hensley were indicted for falsifying liquor records to conceal illegal distribution of whiskey against post-war rationing regulations. Both men were convicted in U.S. District Court on federal charges of conspiracy and Jim Hensley was also convicted on seven counts of filing false liquor records. In 1953 Jim Hensley and Kemper Marley were again charged with falsifying liquor records. This time Jim was defended by future Supreme Court Justice William Rehnquist. Both men were acquitted. In spite of being a convicted felon, Jim Hensley was somehow granted a state liquor license in 1955 (and later a federal liquor license) to found a beer distributorship. Hensley later switched to distributing exclusively Anheuser-Busch beer, and by 1980 Hensley & Co. Distributors and Hensley & Co. Wholesale had made Jim Hensley a multi-millionaire. Read more about McCain and Hensley in the article Haunted By Spirits by John Doughtery and Amy Silverman.
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: Hensley was Cindy McCain’s father, John McCain worked for Hensley as Vice President of Public Relations for Hensley & Co. when he and Cindy first married, and Hensley used his money and influence to launch John McCain’s political career.
G. Gordon Liddy, Convicted Felon
Liddy served four and a half years in prison in connection with his conviction for his role as mastermind of the Watergate break-in and the break-in at the office of the psychiatrist of Daniel Ellsberg, the military analyst who leaked the Pentagon Papers. Liddy has acknowledged preparing to kill someone during the Ellsberg break-in “if necessary”; plotting to murder journalist Jack Anderson; plotting with a “gangland figure” to murder Howard Hunt to stop him from cooperating with investigators; plotting to firebomb the Brookings Institution; and plotting to kidnap “leftist guerillas” at the 1972 Republican National Convention — a plan he outlined to the Nixon administration using terminology borrowed from the Nazis. (The murder, firebombing, and kidnapping plots were never carried out; the break-ins were.) During the 1990s, Liddy reportedly instructed his radio audience on multiple occasions on how to shoot Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms agents — telling listeners, “Go for a head shot; they’re going to be wearing bulletproof vests” — and also reportedly said he had named his shooting targets after Bill and Hillary Clinton. Liddy has donated $5,000 to McCain’s campaigns since 1998, including $1,000 in February 2008. In addition, McCain has appeared on Liddy’s radio show during the presidential campaign, including as recently as May. An online video labeled John McCain On The G. Gordon Liddy Show 11/8/07 includes an audio discussion between Liddy and McCain, whom Liddy described as an “old friend.” During the segment, McCain praised Liddy’s “adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great,” said he was “proud” of Liddy, and said that “it’s always a pleasure for me to come on your program.” Liddy called for the murder of federal agents, served time in jail, plotted murder – and after that, John McCain applauded him and took his money
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: In 1998 Liddy hosted a campaign fundraiser for McCain and McCain has accepted campaign donations from Liddy over the last a decade, most recently in February 2008. McCain has appeared as a guest on Liddy’s radio show multiple times, most recently in November 2007 during the presidential campign when Liddy greeted McCain as “an old friend.” During the interview, Mccain stated he was “proud” of Liddy and praised Liddy for his “adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great.”
Charles Keating, Convicted Felon
Charles H. Keating, Jr., is the former chairman of the Lincoln Savings and Loan Association. The “Keating Five” were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s. McCain and four other senators were accused of improperly aiding Keating., chairman of the failed Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, which was the target of an investigation by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board (FHLBB). McCain received $112,000 by 1987 from Keating and Keating’s relatives and employees to McCain’s Senate campaign, more than any of the other Senators. In addition to campaign contributions, McCain’s wife and her father had invested $359,100 in a Keating shopping center in April 1986, a year before McCain met with the regulators. It was also found that the McCains, sometimes accompanied by their daughter and baby-sitter, had made at least nine trips at Keating’s expense, sometimes aboard the American Continental Corporation (parent of Lincoln) jet. Three of the trips were made during vacations to Keating’s opulent Bahamas retreat at Cat Cay. McCain also did not pay Keating for some of the trips until years after they were taken, after he learned that Keating was in trouble over Lincoln. The Lincoln Savings and Loan’s collapse cost taxpayers $3.4 billion After a lengthy investigation, the Senate Ethics Committee criticized McCain for “questionable conduct,” and did not mete harsher punishment because of McCain’s future presidential ambitions.
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: John McCain was a close personal friend of Charles Keating, McCain and his family vacationed at Keating’s Bahamas mansion, Cindy McCain had investments with Keating.
Raffaello Follieri, Convicted Felon
In late August, 2006, McCain celebrated his 70th birthday aboard a yacht, the Celine Ashley, rented by Raffaello Follieri and his then-movie star girlfriend Anne Hathaway. Follieri, who posed as Vatican chief financial officer in order to win friends and investments, pleaded guilty in a Manhattan district court to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, eight counts of wire fraud and five counts of money laundering. As part of the plea, Follieri admitted to misappropriating at least $2.4 million of investor money and redirecting it to foreign personal bank accounts that were disguised as business accounts.
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: McCain spent his 70th birthday aboard Follieri’s yacht in August 2006.
Rep. Rick Renzi, Under Indictment
Renzi, Arizona Congressman 2002-2008, is currently under indictment for conspiracy, wire fraud, money laundering, concealment of money laundering, transactions with criminally derived funds, extortion, insurance fraud and criminal forfeiture. In robocalls to assist Renzi in his re-election bid in October 2006, McCain stated, “Rick has represented the first district of Arizona with tenacity, honesty and integrity beyond reproach.” The indictment also names business associate James Sandlin, and Maryland attorney Andrew Beardall. The indictment also refers to two companies involved in the transactions, Company A and Investment Group B. Prosecutors allege Renzi criminally concealed information about land deals to both Company A and Investment Group B, and used his seat on the House Natural Resources Committee to try to force their hand. The indictment says Renzi was trying to help his business associate, Sandlin, finish paying off an $800,000 loan Sandlin owed to Renzi. Renzi was in financial straits and needed the money and also states Renzi also never claimed the $733,000 in his 2006 House financial disclosure statements.
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: Until February 2008, Renzi was co-chair of McCain’s Arizona 2008 presidential campaign, member of McCain’s 2008 National Leadership Team, and a personal friend. In October 2006, McCain stated, “Rick has represented the first district of Arizona with tenacity, honesty and integrity beyond reproach.”
Rick Davis, McCain Campaign Manager & Freddie Mac Lobbyist
Davis is currently John McCain’s campaign manager in his bid for the U.S. presidency. Davis’ lobbying firm — Davis Manafort — received payments of $15,000 a month between 2006 and August 2008 from Freddie Mac, the troubled mortgage giant that was recently placed under federal conservatorship. As the mortgage crisis has escalated, almost any association with Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae has become politically toxic. But the payments to Davis’s firm, Davis Manafort, are especially problematic because he requested the consulting retainer in 2006 — and then did barely any work for the fees, according to two sources familiar with the arrangement who asked not to be identified discussing Freddie Mac business. Aside from attending a few breakfasts and a political-action-committee meeting with Democratic strategist Paul Begala (another Freddie consultant), Davis did “zero” for the housing firm, one of the sources said. Freddie Mac also had no dealings with the lobbying firm beyond paying monthly invoices — but it agreed to the arrangement because of Davis’s close relationship with McCain, the source said, which led top executives to conclude “you couldn’t say no.” Freddie Mac’s roughly $500,000 in payments to Davis & Manafort began immediately after Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae in late 2005 disbanded an advocacy coalition that they had set up and hired Mr. Davis to run. From 2000 to the end of 2005, Davis received nearly $2 million as president of the coalition, the Homeownership Alliance, which the companies created to help them oppose new regulations and protect their status as federally chartered companies with implicit government backing. That status let them borrow cheaply, helping to fuel rapid growth but also their increased purchases of the risky mortgage securities that were their downfall.
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: Davis is currently John McCain’s presidential campaign director, and McCain told Newsweek in 2007 “Rick is a friend, and I trust him.”
Charles Black, Jr., Senior Advisor To McCain Campaign & Lobbyist For Dictators
Currently a chief strategist and senior adviser for John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign, in June 2008, Charlie Black stated in an interview with Fortune magazine that another terrorist attack on the United States would “Certainly it would be a big advantage to him.” Black is a registered as a lobbyist and is chairman of one of Washington’s lobbying powerhouses, BKSH and Associates. His clients have included right-wing guerrilla leader Jonas Savimbi of Angola and such dictators as Ferdinand Marcos of the Philippines and Mobutu Sese Seko of Zaire, as well as Nigerian General Ibrahim Babangida, Somali President Mohamed Siad Barre, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the countries of Kenya and Equatorial Guinea, among others. As of February 2008, Black said he is still being paid by his firm and does work for clients in his “spare time,” recusing himself from lobbying McCain: “I not only do not lobby him [McCain], but if an issue comes up that I have a client on, I will tell him that and stay out of the discussion.” Though McCain often portrays himself as an anti-lobbyist politician, his senior advisor has earned more than $57 million dollars since 1998 as a Washington lobbyist. Some of his other clients include: Alcoa – $100,000; Amerada Hess Corp. – $80,000; American Financial Group – $80,000; Asoex Chilean Exporters Assn. – $40,000; AT&T – $1,185,000; AT&T Inc – $720,000; Bristol-Myers Squibb – $690,000; ChevronTexaco – $140,000; Chilean Salmon Farmers Assn. – $100,000; Colombian Textile & Apparel Industry – $80,000; Comasa, de la Optica – $80,000; Contran Corp. – $505,000; Freddie Mac – $820,000; Glaxo Wellcome Inc – $40,000; GlaxoSmithKline – $590,000; Global Strategies Group – $180,000; Honeywell International – $220,000; Importers Service Corp. – $540,000; International Franchise Assn. – $290,000; JP Morgan & Co – $140,000; JP Morgan Chase & Co – $724,000; Lockheed Martin – $487,500; Mortgage Bankers Assn. of America – $140,000; National Assn. of Mortgage Brokers – $60,000; National Foreign Trade Council – $40,000; Occidental Petroleum – $1,650,000; Occidental Petroleum – $1,650,000; Philip Morris – $1,292,500; Tobacco Quota Warehouse Alliance – $120,000; Yukos Oil – $155,000;
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: Charles Black is McCain’s current chief strategist and a senior advisor to his 2008 presidential campaign. Black said he is still being paid by his firm and does work for clients in his “spare time”.
Richard Quinn, White Supremist
Beginning in 1981, Richard Quinn became the Executive Editor in Chief of the racist Southern Partisan Quarterly Review and as was still listed as the owner of the magazine as recently as 2005. Like McCain did originally, Quinn opposed the Martin Luther King holiday, writing it “should have been rejected because its purpose is vitriolic and profane.” In 2000, People For American Way called on McCain to fire Quinn, listing his disparaging of Nelson Mandela as a “terrorist,” his promotion of David Duke (“What better way to reject politics as usual than to elect a maverick like David Duke?”) and his selling of t-shirts praising Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. McCain wouldn’t fire him. He rejected the guilt-by-association charge, defending the man and disavowing the publication.
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: The Washington Post this month described Quinn as the “longtime adviser [who] directed the senator to a crucial victory in the Palmetto State.” Politico reported that McCain paid Quinn’s firms $184,000. An article that was posted on McCain’s website in 2008 — that is no longer available — described Quinn as “a senior political consultant to the McCain campaign.”
Pastor John Hagee
In a 2006 address, Hagee stated, “The United States must join Israel in a pre-emptive military strike against Iran to fulfill God’s plan for both Israel and the West… a biblically prophesied end-time confrontation with Iran, which will lead to the Rapture, Tribulation, and Second Coming of Christ.” Over the years, Hagee the right-wing pastor has waged “an unrelenting war against the Catholic Church” by “calling it ‘The Great Whore,’ an ‘apostate church,’ the ‘anti-Christ,’ and a ‘false cult system.’” During an interview with National Public Radio, Hagee also blamed Hurricane Katrina on gays, saying the devastating storm “was, in fact, the judgment of God against … New Orleans.” The city, he continued, “had a level of sin that was offensive to God” because “there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came.”
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: Despite McCain’s statement in 2000 that “Neither party should be defined by pandering to the outer reaches of American politics and the agents of intolerance, whether they be Louis Farrakhan and Al Sharpton on the left, or Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell on the right,” McCain spent more than a year actively seeking Hagee’s endorsement. In February 2008, McCain stated, “I’m very honored by Pastor John Hagee’s endorsement today.” Only after public outcry did McCain repudiate Hagee.
Pastor Rod Parsley
Parsley has stated that “Islam is an anti-Christ religion that intends through violence to conquer the world.” Parsley has further stated that “The fact is that America was founded — I’m gonna stagger you right now — America was founded in part with the intention of seeing this false religion destroyed.” He also said that Mohammed received revelations from demon spirits.
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: McCain actively sought Parsley’s support to get evangelical votes. In February 2008, McCain stated, “I’m truly honored today to have one of one of the truly great leaders in America, a moral compass, a spiritual guide — Pastor Rod Parsley.” View Video. Again, after public outrage over Parsley, McCain was forced to repudiate him.
Todd Palin
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s husband, Todd, twice registered as a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a fierce states’ rights group whose primary goal is for the state of Alaska to secede from the United States. Sarah Palin herself was never a member of the party, according to state officials. Founded in 1973 by Joe Vogler, Vogler stated, “I’m an Alaskan, not an American. I’ve got no use for America or her damned institutions.” “Keep up the good work,” Sarah Palin told members of the Alaskan Independence Party in a videotaped speech to their 2008 convention six months ago in Fairbanks. She wished the party luck on what she called its “inspiring convention.”
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: Todd Palin is the husband of McCain’s vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, Sarah Palin has attended their conventions and Sarah Palin herself sent them a videotaped address for their 2008 convention, telling them to “keep up the good work.”
Andrew McCain
Andrew K. McCain, sat on the boards of Silver State Bank and of its parent, Silver State Bancorp, both in Nevada, but resigned in July citing “personal reasons,” corporate filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission show. Andrew McCain also was a member of the bank’s audit committee, responsible for oversight of the company’s accounting. Regulators on Friday, September 5, shut down Silver State Bank, saying the Nevada bank failed because of losses on soured loans, mainly in commercial real estate and land development.
HOW CLOSELY IS McCAIN TIED TO HIM: Andrew McCain is John McCain’s son from his first marriage to Carol Shepp, the wife John McCain cheated on and left behind for Cindy Hensley.

His clients have included right-wing guerrilla leader Jonas Savimbi of Angola and such dictators as Ferdinand Marcos of the Philippines and Mobutu Sese Seko of Zaire, as well as Nigerian General Ibrahim Babangida, Somali President Mohamed Siad Barre, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the countries of Kenya and Equatorial Guinea, among others. As of February 2008, Black said he is still being paid by his firm and does work for clients in his “spare time,” recusing himself from lobbying McCain: “I not only do not lobby him [McCain], but if an issue comes up that I have a client on, I will tell him that and stay out of the discussion.” Though McCain often portrays himself as an anti-lobbyist politician, his senior advisor has earned more than $57 million dollars since 1998 as a Washington lobbyist. Some of his other clients include: Alcoa – $100,000; Amerada Hess Corp. – $80,000; American Financial Group – $80,000; Asoex Chilean Exporters Assn. – $40,000; AT&T – $1,185,000; AT&T Inc – $720,000; Bristol-Myers Squibb – $690,000; ChevronTexaco – $140,000; Chilean Salmon Farmers Assn. – $100,000; Colombian Textile & Apparel Industry – $80,000; Comasa, de la Optica – $80,000; Contran Corp. – $505,000; Freddie Mac – $820,000; Glaxo Wellcome Inc – $40,000; GlaxoSmithKline – $590,000; Global Strategies Group – $180,000; Honeywell International – $220,000; Importers Service Corp. – $540,000; International Franchise Assn. – $290,000; JP Morgan & Co – $140,000; JP Morgan Chase & Co – $724,000; Lockheed Martin – $487,500; Mortgage Bankers Assn. of America – $140,000; National Assn. of Mortgage Brokers – $60,000; National Foreign Trade Council – $40,000; Occidental Petroleum – $1,650,000; Occidental Petroleum – $1,650,000; Philip Morris – $1,292,500; Tobacco Quota Warehouse Alliance – $120,000; Yukos Oil – $155,000;

Those of you posting on marxism and socialism, etc. Really, what you are doing is espousing an old school, old fashioned, out of date, uninformed cold warrior view of what was a fictious enemy with a fictious philosphy. I know from reading your posts that you have absolutely no idea at all what you are talking about. Get over it. If you want to have a debate, fine, but grow up. I am a retired veteran in my 50s. I would expect wiser and more insightful commentary from supposed adults. If you want to have an opionon, fine; but inform by reading or taking night classes. You commentary is old fashioned and out of date. Get out of the way, your time has passed.

Some of these remarks made here are just what Biden said about the dumbing down of America, there is not one thing we have now that anyone will take away, we will have more, less guns in the inner cities while protecting gun ownership every where else, less taxes, more jobs, still have women’s rights . I guess it is the dumbing down that keeps people from reading the issues or listening to Obama, these are the people that will listen and read what McCain and Palin spread, hate and violence, that is not what America is about, listen to what Colin Powell said on Meet the Press, that is what America is about, please vote for freedom.Obama /Biden
If you want to hate and like violence then vote Mccain/Palin

Natasha, do you even know what a Marxist is? Or as Inigno Montoya might say, “You keep using that word. I don’t think it means what you think it means.”

Nub-Tail, you are retarded. In this time of unprecedented national and global crisis, you have chosen gun rights as the issue on which to make your choice for President? What a small minded fool you are. Oh, and by the way, your characterization of Obama is completely false, and the fact that you can post an inordinately long message does not make it true. Nice try, jerkoff.

Lot of hatred here. So if McCain is so good, why did he admit to voting with Bush 90% of the time? Why are we after 8 years of Bush/McCain scraping to get food on the table? Vote for McCain. But don’t come back here and say, “Sorry, I made a mistake” Socialism is McCain’s talking point right now, so I would assume you are part of his campaign. WV supporters for Obama said “I would rather have a black man for a friend and not a white man for an enemy.” I think that is what you will get with McCain

Do the wackos on the left know who Obama is, where he is from, what he stands for, and who his friends are? They do? and they don’t care? We do know that one of his friends is Biden who apparenlty watched FDR on television in 1929. If BO wins it will be fun to say, “I told you so,” when he and the idiot leaders of congress have
their way.

It is really, really funny to see everyone who’s posting about “Marxist” Obama…..I suppose it’s too much to expect that any of you have every read Marx? Pop Quiz for all those who like to throw around the M-word….can any of you…..and I do open this up to the whole group…any of you tell me:
A. What defines a Marxist
B. Specifically, which policies of Obama’s fall into that category
You see, those who throw around “Socialist”, “Marxist”, “Communist”, etc. are, by my experience, those least likely to have actually read and / or understood the philosophies behind these schools of political thought.
Here’s another school of political thought that I think you might need a refresher on, it’s call Democracy.

Regarding Obama’s position on gun ownership, that’s irrelevant to me because thanks to the Bush/McCain/Republican economy, I couldn’t afford to buy one anyhow.
What good is a gun if we don’t have a job, a roof over our heads, food on the table, or education for the next generation?
Oh, and by the way, I’m a former McCain contributer, campaign worker, and voter who is now strongly behind Obama – Biden.

Joe ‘the Senator’, I’ll be voting for your former friend. America, Obama has one thing right, we don’t need another 8 years of an inexperienced Commander in Chief.
Sen. Obama, experience matters. I have made many mistakes in my short life. It is true, when I think about it, that each of those mistakes are among my greatest assets with respect to decision making, each and every one of them. This is because we all learn from our mistakes. At all times, I believe the best of my judgment is anchored in the cement that is my experience. I believe firmly that the longer I live, the more I will have experienced, and the better my judgment will be, on the balance. Sen. Obama, do you really believe that you have made enough mistakes to be the next President of the United States? I respect your ambition. I respect your charisma. I embrace your place in history, but I do not believe you have sufficient experience to lead this planet, not even close.
America, since the mainstream media has failed to examine Sen. Obama’s experience and lack of experience, you will have to determine for yourselves what exactly is Sen. Obama’s experience? What did he accomplish in the Illinois legislature? He was only there for a handful of years. What did he promise he would accomplish? What did he accomplish in the U.S. Senate? He has only been on the job as a U.S. Senator for 1xx days. What did he promise he would accomplish? What has he changed in this world? This country? The Presidency of the United States is an executive position Sen. Obama. Do you have any executive experience? Have you created a budget, negotiated a budget, revised a budget or managed adherence to a budget?
Sen. Obama insists on presenting Sen. McCain’s experience as being only an puppet of the Bush administration. I saw Senator McCain stand up to President Bush’s Defense Secretary. He stood in a manner that no other did. He changed the course of the war in Iraq. What percentage of all GOP legislative votes sided with President Bush’s? What percentage of all Democrat legislative votes sided with Presidents Clinton, Carter and Johnson’s policies? I have no idea, but I’d venture to guess that, had the media presented that information to the American public, we’d find rank and file partisanship throughout our recent history. How many Americans would be surprise by that?
Well Senator Obama, you might be able to claim that you did not support the Iraq war resolution, but what can you offer as proof that it was the right decision at that moment in our history? You were after all in the small minority. Our country was after all reeling from the worst terror attack in our nation’s history. How would history have judged President Bush had he not led our troops into Iraq and then, a massive terror attack occurred yesterday, perpetrated by terrorists that lived and trained in Iraq over the past few years, with or without knowledge of Saddam Hussein? I think about it this way: history failed to present enough evidence to push the World to coalesce and intervene in 1930s Europe. But modern history is 100% clear on that point, it would have been the correct decision. History might well judge the Iraq war to be not a right decision. History will judge the Bush administration on many points. One of those may even record it, in part, as a series of lapses in the judgment of a young President, swayed by the belief and conviction of an older, seasoned Vice President and the overwhelming circumstances of a world that had changed dramatically, in an instant. I agree with you Sen. Obama that we don’t need another eight years of the Bush Administration, we dont need another eight years of an inexperienced President.
Mr. Gibson, Ms. Couric, Ms. Behar, Ms. Mitchell … you do not get to dismantle the American vote. You and your colleagues might think you have the power to micro-filter democracy’s messages to your liking, but you do not get to dismantle the American vote. You might think you have the power to subtly, and not so subtly promote and gather others to blindly promote one candidacy, while casting another in the least flattering manner possible, but you do not get to dismantle the American vote. You do not get to dismantle America’s vote. The mainstream media bias in this election is at best described as repugnant and at worst, a slap to the face of democracy; an assault on the moral and righteous ideal that all American voters should be free to construct their vote on the basis of readily available, factually complete, accurate, relevant and unbiased fact. It is my opinion that, during this election cycle more than any other I have witnessed, the mainstream media has failed millions of American’s who rely on them, as a basis for constructing their vote. Am I wrong? I might be wrong, but I’ll ask you, the American voters to decide that for yourself, by asking yourself some questions. Questions such as why was so much time spent this election cycle mining for dirt in Alaska, why was so little time was spent tracking laundry in Illinois? Why has the mainstream media spent so little time illuminating the razor thin experience that the junior Senator from Illinois maintains as his credentials? Indeed, if the media was prepared to be fair and honest, they would have been able to report, with incontrovertible confidence, that they were reporting fact, that the candidate having the most experience directly relevant to the position of the Presidency of the United States is actually the candidate that has been relentlessly attacked by the media, both personally and professionally. The mainstream media owes an apology to American Democracy for its treatment of Gov. Palin. Why is it, that after finally deciding to give minimal airtime to the ACORN voter registration fraud issue, was it not mentioned that Sen. Obama’s campaign funded ACORN? Sen. Obama, in my mind, there is no distinction between committing voter registration fraud, serving as impetus to commit voter registration fraud or funding those serving as impetus to commit voter registration fraud. During the last debate, you did a fine job of distancing yourself from ACORN, but you failed to directly confront and condemn those that perpetrate or encourage voter registration fraud. You had a nationwide audience, and you chose not to act.
The President is the commander in chief of the United States Armed Forces. That is a serious responsibility. I question how you can expect us to believe that you will effectively maintain the moral, skill and competence of our forces after you have insulted them. What will serve as your experiential basis for leading the U.S. Military? Do you have any military experience at all? Have you ever served in ROTC? Do you know firsthand the horrors of war? I believe that firsthand knowledge and experience is the most critical element one can use in formulating decisions, including the determination of when to and when not to deploy U.S. Military forces. Sen. McCain has that experience. That I know. That he has shown. The media can’t take that away from him.
With regard to foreign policy experience, do you think you are qualified to navigate the most powerful democracy the world knows during a time when the fundamentals of democracy are very much under attack? Are you ready to face Mr. Putin? Mr. Chavez? Kim Jung Ill? China? Iran? Are you ready to answer the 03:00 phone call? What experience do you have that I should judge gives you readiness? What is that experience? What foreign leaders have you negotiated with directly? What treaties have you signed? The media has presented none and neither have you. I have a good number of stamps in my passport Sen. Obama. I lived and worked in Germany for a brief period. Sen. Obama, I am not qualified by a longshot to make United States foreign policy, and you may only be marginally more qualified than I.
The oratorical is no substitute for judgment or experience Senator Obama. I do not believe that you have the experience to be President of our country. Experience matters Sen. Obama, and you are not ready, you have not made enough mistakes. But most glaring to me, Senator Obama is the one mistake that you seem willing to make over and over and it is the worst mistake one can make. That mistake is the action of not owning one’s mistakes.
Sen. Obama, you claim that you will cut taxes on 95% of all Americans. Is that true? Or let me rephrase, how can that be true? You told the voters of Illinois that you would cut taxes, but you have failed to do so in the U.S. Senate. Did you even try? Did you present a bill? Were it a committee issue did you encourage your peers to present one? Have you ever voted for a tax cut? What did you mean Senator Obama when you told Plumber Joe that you wanted to spread the wealth? Do you mean that you want to take money from Joe and give it to those with less money? Your running mate, Sen. Biden has commented that you would not be taxing additionaly those making under $250,000 a year. Sen. Biden commented that he knows no plumbers that make over $250,000 a year. I think that those who claim your tax policies embody class warfare are wrong. Wrong, because the policies are class warfare policies, but they are not directed against the haves, they are directed against the have-nots. Senator Biden, you may well be correct that few plumbers earn over $250,000 a year, but some that own plumbing contracting businesses probably do. What do those that spin your message have planned to say to that one plumber out of maybe six or seven that was employed by a plumbing company, but was laid off, because business is slow, new homes weren’t being built and President Obama’s tax increase forced the owner of the plumbing business to lay her off? The owner tried every angle possible, but was forced to make a tough decision. They were faced with the prospect of either making a tough decision or risk running the entire operation into financial distress and end up having to close operations and fire all workers? I guess you’d have Mr. Burton tell her that, even though she has no job, she does at least still have affordable healthcare? Senator Obama what will you say to the unemployed plumber in Ohio, father of two, that nearly had a job secured, the owner had just signed a good contract for a small building and he was ready to hire that plumber, but learned from his accountant, that Senator Obama’s tax increase has made it not possible to hire another employee? I guess you’d have Mr. Burton tell that plumber, that even though he still has no job, he does have a lower tax burden
Sen. Obama, you have stated over and over that Sen. McCain supports tax breaks for corporations that send their jobs overseas. The media has not reported on this one way or another, but if you are correct, then I commend Sen. McCain for doing so. What you don’t get, Sen. Obama, or perhaps don’t want the American public to get, is that income taxes, to a for profit enterprise are expenses not much different from the costs of raw materials and salary expenses for purposes of this discussion. All else equal, ladies and gentleman, a corporation will locate itself, and its jobs, or begin to locate itself and its jobs, in areas where it is least penalized in terms of taxes. This is how for profit American corporations behave and this is how they must behave. Their competitors are operating in that manner, continually scouring expenses to search for reduction opportunities. They have to. If they do not, they will be at a cost disadvantage and if their tactical errors are sustained, they may well go out of business in which case, even those jobs which remain in the United States, could also disappear. Even if the company does not fail entirely, some jobs may be eliminated, and chances are great that the highest cost jobs would be targeted first. Sen. Obama, America is not a low cost country, in these circumstances, they would be targeted first, all else equal. When those jobs are cut Sen. Obama, those new unemployed will not have money to support the ‘under $250k’ crowd…they won’t have money to support small businesses…is it sinking in at all?
Your position of not supporting tax breaks for corporations that export jobs overseas, indeed, only encourages them, at the margin, to further export jobs, or slow their job creation in the United States or end their job creation in the United States. This is global economic reality. The media can not distort this fact for you. At the final debate, I heard you add a carrot to your plans. You pulled that same tax string attached to the back of your head and out came the message you think the voters want to hear. If I got it correct, you’ll give tax credits to corporations that create jobs in America. In case you don’t know Senator Obama, this already happens today at the state and local level all across America. Have you thought about how much additionaly, it will cost the U.S. Treasury to employ workers, in an audit fashion, in order to verify which of all the xx million jobs that corporations claim they created actually exist? What are the time constraints? How long must they keep the job filled in order to receive the credit? What would happen when that time passes? Let me get this correct, you want to first keep tax rates on corporations high or raise them – thereby encouraging employers large and small to export their operations and jobs – and then at the same time you want to turnaround and give them a tax credit? You do realize that they are policy opposites don’t you? It looks to me that you might be trying to convince us that it would be a good idea to spend more on government for an unknown expected net job increase. If you can convince us of that Senator Obama, I’d suggest you also try to sell us a bridge to nowhere. Your tax policy is bigger government, bigger IRS, more regulatory burden on American Corporations and more administrative overhead makes them less competitive in the global market and less likely to employ. It is not the right policy Senator Obama.
Go back to the Senate and accomplish something Sen. Obama. Your candidacy is an insult to America.
oh and ps, the verdict has been in for decades on the effectiveness of spreading the wealth policies. Go visit an American Indian Reservation Sen. Obama. The only thing that has changed for the past several decades is the faces of the Washington politicians that have redistributed wealth to us. Do you have any clue what the average unemployment rate is in Indian Country Sen.Obama? Illicit drug use rate? Teen pregnancy rate? Pick a rate
Senator.

Dear 0accomplishments (and I assume that’s how many you have)
I’m just wondering how much the McCain campaign is paying you to post this swill?
Perhaps you forget that your employer caused the fire aboard the USS Forrestall by playing (what he thought) was a practical joke and dumping excess fuel into his jet engine which produced a flame directed at the plane behind him igniting one of the missiles on that plane. McCain’s practical joke cost the lives of 140 US sailors. As punishment his Admiral daddy flew little Johnny off to Saigon for some much needed R&R.
In addition, you can take your capitalist cool aid and shove it. It was this unbalanced and unregulated capitalism that has brought us to within an inch of our financial survival as a nation.
Since your so worried about billionaires paying more taxes you obviously are in favor of continuing to borrow money from China. That’s a typical republican position just borrow and spend, a real winner for America.
Obama HAS NEVER EVER said he would infringe on peoples right to bear arms. But then I guess your Republican handlers ordered you to post this anyway. Lets face it, if you want to win an election and have no positive program to present whatsoever you just make crap up about your opponent and mindlessly attack him with it. This, of course is another typical republican strategy. Let face it, their other choice is to tell the truth about what they really intend to do and you want to know what that is just look at the last 7 1/2 years of disasterous decisions made by McCains mentor.
Unless your on the board of Haliburton, Becthtel or any of the republicans other buddy corporations or if you just want this country and everything good it has ever stood for just flushed down the drain THERE IS NO LOGICAL REASON (NONE) FOR EVEN THINKING ABOUT VOTING FOR McCAIN.

Did you know that while 95% of Americans have seen a decrease in income, the top 1% of the wealthiest Americans have seen a 232% increase in income. That is a function of tax loop holes, laws written to help them, deregulation, tax breaks for companies that moved out of the U.S. and many other things. The republicans didn’t call it soicialism when they changed so many laws to benefit the rich. They only call it socialism if balance is returned to give the middle class a chance. They can’t do it to us unless we vote for them folks. It’s the top 1-5% who benefit most from republican policies. They hawk for small government but they have made government bigger than ever. They hawk for balanced budgets, but they have made the deficit and the national debt more enormous than at any time in history. What they mean to say is that they will spend any amount of money advancing their big business and military ideas (Read their investments and profits in war business i.e. Cheney’s Halliburton investments which have gone up over 3,000% since he took office), but it would be somehow un-American to help Americans. The gap between the wealthy and the middle class has grown huge during the Bush administration. Eisenhow, when he left office–as a republican, warned the country that it must watch and guard against the harm that could come from the military industrial complex. The harm has come and we have seen what it can do to a country that had a very strong economy and a strong place in the world until Bush/Cheney/McCain got control. We need to wake up before it goes so far that the country is beyond repair. They can only do it to us if we vote for them. Don’t do it.

Captain: Thanks a ton for the math lesson. 3% of $10,000,000 only adds up to $300,000.
I thought I was going to have to purge my staff. I’ll only have to get rid of about half-a-dozen mid-level employees. Cool.
Cheers!
I suggest you look upon someone more qualified than myself for some math lessons, Al. You originally said you are paying 50% of your income in taxes and you can’t afford another increase..The corporate tax rate is roughly 35% for a corporation earning $10 M…OOOPS!!
Remember now?? Grandpa McCain mentioned it in the last debate…He tried to make it seem like businesses paying 35% in taxes are getting ripped off because they only pay 11% in Ireland..Of course what he didn’t mention was that Ireland isn’t trying to fund an idiotic $10 billion a month war.

I question how you can expect us to believe that you will effectively maintain the morale, skill and competence of our forces after you have insulted them.
Pick a rate
Senator.

The Republicans are trying to cash in on the fear and myopia of the American public. It’s not that the Democrats wouldn’t do the same if they were down this much in the polls, it’s just interesting that the rightwing army is so willing to go to bat for this nonsense.
A 3% increase on the top Federal Tax Bracket = Socialism? Really? That’s all you’ve got?

kp, When you say Biden got the job of VP “wrong” in the debate, are you referring to the fact he cited to Art. I of the Constitution instead of Art. II?
If so, that’s not quite getting the job wrong, is it?

Huh – “A 3% increase on the top Federal Tax Bracket = Socialism?”
No, but a 3% increase on only one tax bracket in order to pay for cuts to other tax brackets and credits to people who don’t even pay income tax is forced wealth redistribution.

Reply to Doug – I am English and now live in France, my work means I travel extensively. In reply to Doug’s comments that Europe is now turning to the right, as Mr Sarkozy would say, my first point is: The UMP, Mr Sarkozy’s party is technically right but as in most European nations, right parties are somewhere to the left of the american Democrats. Angela Merkel is also of the centre right which means left of the American Democrats. With regard to how Bush and America are viewed by the populations of Europe – they are NOT liked! Here is an example of how America is NOT liked because of the Bush policies – whenever I meet new people and we as a group are trying to find things in common to form a basis of concensus we talk about America – it is NOT positive talk. If Mcain were fighting Obama in any European country Obama would win every time becuase he is ‘demoncratic’ becuase of his economic policies becuase of his foreign policies and absolutely because of his health policies.

And you alleged freedom lovers don’t hesitate to support wannabe commies like Bush who hate our Constitution and flushed it down the toilet.
Your hypocrisy is really disgusting.

More lies about Democrats and guns.
I have been a gun owner and hunter for 30 years, I own a dozen handguns and six rifles.
The charges that Democrats will “Take away your guns” is absolutely FALSE!
I am so disgusted with the way McCain is running his campaign.
When you have NO agenda to run on you resort to Terrorism!
You constantly decry terrorist when what you are doing is TERRORIZING AMERICANS!
You all should be locked up for terrorism in Guantanamo Bay.
You are no better than the terrorist who attacked us on 9/11.
You can’t win an election with your ideas and policies so you have to resort to terrorizing the public.
You are despicable and scum of the earth!

Biden either doesn’t know his friends very well or, more likely, he’s got to distance himself from McCain because of his new boss, Obama. The McCain calls are no worse than the angry Obama calls I’ve been getting. They act like anybody still not decided about for whom to vote is an idiot. I’m deciding alright and those calls are helping and it’s not going Obama’s way. This weekend really clinched it for me.

Upon reading this, you are all foolish people.
I did my time in the military, as did my wife, when the communists were the great enemy. We soon learned what a farce that was.
We saw the housing crisis coming, and now they want to bail out the credit industry. The two major fallacies of our economy are now going to be bailed out by the people who did not see that spending money you don’t have is indeed a bad idea.
Both candidates support bailing out
failed ideas.
Look at it this way. The ones who offered mortgages to those who could not afford them and the credit card lenders that sent cards to those who could not possibly pay back thier debt will all now be infused with our tax dollars so they can do more of the same and keep this economy of debt rolling along.
When we were supposedly attacked, we were told to go shopping.
Most of you did, and now can’t pay the bill.
I put my money in my mattress, and you will require me pulling it out to pay for your mistakes.
I will do whatever it takes to not spend a dime on this “debt relief” package.
This ia a felony armed robbery carried out by your local representative, and the congress as a whole.

And when did the great GOP decide that Obama was a socialist? When they got a talking point, a sound bite from an off the cuff remark? This is when the GOP REALIZED for the first time that Obama was a socialist? One week ago? WOW! That’s a really sneaky guy, that OBAMA! Talking about his plans for two years and in debate after debate in the primaries and the Presidental election and if NOT FOR JOE THE PLUMBER – NO ONE would have realized it.
What a happy day for John McCain, that instead of the absolute drivel about Ayers, color and terrorists, he could have found a statement “sharing the wealth” that would actually give his campaign, in its dying moments, SOMETHING TO SAY….WOW. Thank YOU< Joe the Plumber for actually finding out where Barack Stands on the matter of taxes – we gonna tax the rich and give tax credits to the poor- what a SAVAGE!

“NOT EXACTLY, your name is Arabic and ‘Baraka’ (from which Barack came) means ‘blessed’ in that language. Hussein is also Arabic and so is Obama.”
Actually, he is Jewish. A Jewish Warrior at that. Barak, who with the aid of the Judge Deborah, chased Sisera ( a general from another country that had persecuted Judah for 20 years) back to the borders where Sisera was impaled through his head and killed.
Just in case you have forgotten, the ethnic root of Israeli’s and Arabs are the same.
They are the same BLOOD. Sons of Jacob and Esau who were brothers. Esau had Ishmael from whom the Arabic peoples came. Jacob’s children were the Israelites of today.
As for the rest of your stupid, frightful rant….so what?
Are there any real Christians left in America? I doubt it.

If you listen to Joe Biden, you believe that we will be broke in a matter of weeks. He knows nothing about economics. Has he never heard of Kaynes? Does he appreciate that when you have a financial situation as we have at the moment, you reduce interest rates and keep taxes down. Do not increase taxes. Do not increase taxes. He does not understand the first point about Economics. How can he be a future Vice President?
