Dancing in the End Zone
Obama campaign manager David Plouffe today on a conference call announced that the campaign of the lanky Illinoisan is advertising in North Dakota, Georgia, and Arizona — the home state of GOP Sen. John McCain, which he won in 2004 with 77% of the vote.
There are no plans for Obama to travel to any of those states, Plouffe said, but he insisted they are in the “realm of the possible," and added that Arizona would be a battleground state were McCain not the nominee.
A CNN/Time/ORC poll of Arizona voters found McCain leading in the state, 53% to Obama’s 46%.
"We did a lot of work in Georgia and we still have quite a bit of staff on the ground," Plouffe said. "So we obviously stopped advertising there for a period of time but you know early vote is going extremely well in Georgia. And one of the reasons is the organization on the ground that’s still there – as so we look at Georgia you know, if we win it, we win it narrowly. But if you look at the early vote, and again, we’re kind of out of the land of theory here in a lot of these states – we’re beginning to see how this election is likely to unfold based on the early voting patterns."
Plouffe said the organizing never stopped in Georgia, "and obviously the African American turnout, the turnout among younger voters is quite high and there’s still a big pool left so we just wanted the last few days that reminder on the air. Now they’ve obviously been getting our national advertising in all these states, but we’re going to complement it with some local adverting to see if we can get as close as we can. The same thing goes for North Dakota and Arizona…Obviously we’ve got a big map and the most challenging part about it is travel.”
Obama today started the day in Missouri, just flew to Iowa, will tonight hold a rally in Indiana, and end the day in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“We think a positive ad there can help make the case and we’ve got a lot of great organizing going on in Arizona," Plouffe said. "We think we’re doing very well with Hispanic voters in Arizona."
“If someone else had been the Republican nominee I think Arizona would be a core battleground like its Western neighbors," Plouffe said. "Obviously it’s Sen. McCain’s home state, so he’s gonna overperform there a little bit, but we have, there’s obviously the public polls, all showing it close very close, our internal data suggested that this could be a very, very close race. It’s enough in the realm of the possible that you know, we want to put a little extra effort here in the end…we’re just gonna give it a go here in the last four days and see how close we can get it.”
“Nothing were doing is taking away efforts in the core battlegrounds," he said.

Frankly I do think Obama can win AZ., or GA..
This is a side show and diverting McCain’s funds.
I suppose that things could break for Obama in a big way, and it would be a landslide. I will be happy for him to just win.

If you have any doubt what phony, hypocrisy is, you simply just look at 0bama.
On one hand, he lectures his subsidiaries selfishness, charity, contribution to the common good of the society.
On the other hand, he panders his blind followers by bribery, cash giveaways, $1000 if you vote for him.
He promises to take care of you, giving you opportunities to get into the middle class; yet, he leaves his own brother in poverty at $1 per month in his homeland, his aunt on the streets of Boston.
Mr. Bush answers the call of a Higher Father and you know what he has done in the past 8 years.
Mr. 0bama has his own Higher Father, and he is Karl Marx. Do you really want to find out what he will do answering those calls?

So we share in the wealth when the development of these resources occurs.”
In Alaska, residents pay no income tax or state sales tax. They receive a yearly dividend check from a $30 billion state investment account built largely from royalties on its oil. When home fuel and gas costs soared last year, Palin raised taxes on big oil and used some of the money to boost residents’ checks by $1,200. Thus every eligible man, woman and child got a record $3,269 this fall.
“And Alaska we’re set up, unlike other states in the union, where it’s collectively Alaskans own the resources. So we share in the wealth when the development of these resources occurs.”

It’s good that McCain is having to defend states that should be solidly his, but I’m not sure how much real “defending” he will do. In some of these states what’s going to happen will happen. I hope Obama spends most of his time and resources in the last few days in Florida, Ohio, and Virginia. If he wins ANY of those three, he will win the election. It’s that simple.

Journalists from three major newspapers that endorsed John McCain — the Washington Times, the New York Post and the Dallas Morning News — have been booted from Barack Obama’s campaign plane for the final leg of the presidential race. According to the Web site The Drudge Report, the three newspapers’ reporters were told to find alternative transportation by Sunday so that the plane could accommodate “network bigwigs” and reporters from Essence and Jet

I was a Barack Obama supporter, but it’s not hard when you reject public finance and raise unlimited private campaign contributions. It’s easy, it’s easy to sell out the White House to foreign powers for campaign funds. It’s well documented that tens of millions of Sen. Obama’s total haul comes from Hamas and Hezbolla in addition to hundres and millions from special interests, domestic and abroad, under the guise of multiple contributions under $200 which the government doesn’t regulate, and they deliberately make it un-traceable by disabling standard credit card security measures that even every online merchant uses. Sen. Obama’s Koo-Aid defenders will say, oh, Sen. Obama doesn’t even know these people, how can you insinuate that Sen. Obama is selling out? yeah, right, a special interest is going to make a $10M anonymous contribution. They will say, oh this type of stuff happens. He deliverately disabled address-verification, which every online merchant uses. They will say, oh Sen. McCain has the same problems. Sen. McCain has taken public campaign finance, so nevermind the illegal contributions, he hasn’t even taken any legal contributions, not one dime, not one nickle for not one person, not one organization, and not one corporation. It’s not hard, who doesn’t know how to sell out the White House?

Obama could DEFINATELY win Arizona and not just because of the hispanic vote as one of his campaign advisors said.
A visit to his Phoenix campaign office and a short stay in any one of the historically long early voting lines will prove to anyone…his votes are coming from more than the hispanic or african american votes!
Its about time for a CHANGE!!!!!!

Obama does not have to defend in states that have lost hope in our country. It is easy to give false hope to the desperate. The Red states have higher unemployment, higher default rates on mortgages, higher high school drop out rates, higher state budget overruns. The list goes on for the people he is catering.

Obama doesn’t have a chance in Arizona. We require voter ID in this state. Dems tried to get the law thrown out, but it stands. It’s the reason Acorn hasn’t been active here, they can’t game the system.

It’s not a dance in the end zone… it is called being scrupulously careful.
The last two elections, Democrats have lost on technicalities and glitches.
I cannot blame Obama for trying to win every vote that he can possibly win, in every state that he has a chance.
Plus, Obama wants to represent all Americans (not just the “real” Americans, as the Republicans like to call themselves)… so it makes sense that he would want to win in Arizona.
The more votes he has, the better he will be able to lead.
Ang given the fact that Republicans are already planning on impeaching him if he is elected… this broad base of support is going to be twice as important.

It’s just a matter of time when the majority of states will be BLUE due to shifting population and the fact that people like me, a latin male along with all people of color and the young “critical” thinkers will become the majority voting block in this country. I’m not surprised at Arizona’s recent polls. Recent polls also say that about 60% of the US feels Palin isn’t qualified as “Vice” President. Many Republicans including close McCain advisors and high level McCain campaign staff admit Palin isn’t qualified. The United States of America is too important to risk our future to Palin.

The GOP might be down for a couple cycles, but historically when there is such mismatch between parties, the weak party just expands its coalitions until it can start winning elections again. It is just the nature of majority-rule politics.

To the Obamacrat for McCain…rejecting public financing has allowed Obama to raise more than the RNC has for McCain. Had he accepted public financing, McCain and the RNC would have had a huge advantage. It’s insane that you say you supported Obama but now are voting against him because of public financing. Republicans have always been against public financing until a Democrat who was better at fundraising than anyone in history came along to make them scared.

Tom Barranger…
I keep seeing your spam… so I finally read it.
You say that Michelle Obama cannot “get over it.” But you are the one who cannot get over it.
Obama has put together a diverse group of advisors with sterling credentials. He did not cherry-pick his advisors to reflect a racial bias… he picked the most talented and competent people in America.
So, if he ever had a problem to begin with, he is clearly over it. Plus, he was raised by his mother and grandparents… who he loves very dearly.
Meanwhile, you are copying and pasting bizarre, out of context, and fudged quotations from some supposed undergraduate paper, which may or may not exist… written by someone who you claim is Michelle Obama… to prove that she is too black for America.
She doesn’t need to get over anything… You need to get over it.

Tom, huh, len, these are all desperate moves you are propounding here and you think the American voter is a fool?
McCain tried Ayers, it failed; he tried Rezko, it failed; Wright, it failed. And now Kalidi or whatever his name is. You know why these guilt by association tactic has failed? Because of McCain’s own ‘Associates’ like Keating5, “the Pastors”, “friends” like jailed Abramoff, and the one on whose yatch Davis his campaign manager took him for a birthday bash in the Mediterranean, among others. And look at his lobbyist friends too.
With all these “friends” of McCain, why is he trying the guilt by association stuff?
Now, can you guess the theme of the inaugural speech? I am looking forward for another Rocket from That One! And who would be the Treasury Sec to clean up this mess we now have? I think Hillary will get some good spot too in the Health area to build up her resume for 2016. Don’t you think so, Tom, huh and len? We the “lessthan250K” have taken our country back.

Why Tito the Builder Doesn’t Want Socialism
Well, I’m going to tell you why I don’t want it. Because — because what they want to do is they want to keep you down there on the bottom so they could stay — they could stay on the top. By giving you people crumbs over there, they pretend that they’re going to be OK. OK, little guy. You know, little poor guy, you stay down there, and we throw you something. And that something is going to keep you happy, and then you don’t question — you don’t questions what associations do I have? What philosophy do I have?
And the life could be better for you. It could be even better for somebody else. That’s what they want to do to you. They want to keep you all the way down there so they continue the power.
Maybe Tito The Builder didn’t go to Harvard but he understands what socialism does to you.

Well someone said that the only difference between an Obama presidency and a Bush presidency is the (D) because Obama is the Democrat version of Bush. It”s been said the $300 million in donations came from “anonymous” per the Obama campaign. That, who knows how many, millions of dollars have come from stolen identities and or outside illegal contributions.
Couple Obama”s 97% vote the party line to a 60% plus Democrat congress and we are back to the one party rule of steal as much as you can. which will then swing even farther to the right. It”s called a destructive oscillation and if not dampened will lead to civil war. Eisenhouer said it best when asked why he was in the middle of the road he said The left and the right (of the road) are where the gutters are.”
That”s what I fight for, the middle of the road.

Did anyone see Mccain yesterday looking for Joe the Plumber in the crowd yesterday…..
That’ just a prelude of what’s to come in a couple of years. He’s going to be looking for himself. “Mccain where are you…are you here? I thought Mccain was here. Well, we all are here.”
Hopefully after Tuesday, maybe he and Cindy can sit back and enjoy what’s left of the good years. I wish him many, many more years of good health, just not as President.

But Obama didn’t vote w/ President Bush 90% of the time– McCain did! Now look whats happend?

Keep in mind that we are a country still in it’s infancy stage. Unlike European countries, we have not been around for centuries. Just evaluate where they are politically. They voting populations are more liberal than they are conservative. Americans just like the Eurpeans will begin demanding that their government work for them by providing them with the goods and services they NEED otherwise the politicians are voted out of office.

I got an email from a friend this morning and it said Obama is being sued and/or investigated in seven states re: his true nationality and that he was actually born in Kenya and therefore not eligible to be a US President. Since their deadline has passed and he didn’t produce his birth certificate, that this proof positive that he has something to hide an cannot be trusted. I said, “Girl, this is such a crock!! You actually think that the DNC would choose him over Hillary if he wasn’t eligible? His eligibility was proven almost 2 years ago when he began the race. And if the rumor was true, why wasn’t McCain/Palin all over it in their ads and speeches. This is just more media hype.” Vote Obama!!

Republicans must learn from the Democrats, how democracy functions. Had Abraham Lincoln been with us today, he’d have campaigned for the Democratic ticket. “My friends” and “Joe the plumbers”, you are living in a dreamland. You have no idea about the 21st century common folks. Get in touch with the ground realities around you my dear friends. Then rebuild your party with ideas and principles that would attract the real hard working Americans and not the Pallins and Joe Plumbers. I found you in a campaign, my dear friend, desperately searching for the Joe Plumber. Your fault, my dear friend, is that you cannot see the people around you, but the Joe Plumbers.
Thank you.

Rob, don’t worry too much about what Republicans think.
When Bill Clinton was running… remember all the stories they cooked up about him
All of it lies. They do this to every Democrat. The sad thing is, it ultimately led to Clinton’s impeachment… and it was a major distraction from the day to day business of keeping the country safe.
We can only hope that the GOP will show class and dignity if they lose.

Goldwater won Arizona by only a small margin as did Mondale Minnesota in 1984. McGovern lost South Dakota in 1972 and Gore lost Tennessee in 2000. The most damaging was probably Gore’s loss of Tennessee as he would have been President if he won and the who Florida recount fiasco would have been unnecessary. All the others lost in a landslide. There was a poll out today that had McCain ahead 48 to 47 per cent and it looks like momentum is going toward Obama.

Not really, thyme.
It just pushes some buttons. Suggests that it is somehow inappropriate for Obama to try to compete in Arizona.
If it were another candidate, it might be considered smart and impressive and a good offense move.
And, if you follow the history of football… you will see that the early criticism of the “end zone dance” was considered to be evidence of the decline of the sport that took place after it was integrated.
I doubt that much though went into the headline. But certainly, the pro-McCain people are outraged that Obama would get too big for his britches in Arizona. (And, between you and me, I know lost of black professionals in business and academia who confess that they resent constantly being compared to athletes or rappers… especially since they aren’t trying to be “cool” or “aggressive”… ther just want to be recognized as smart, capable professionals in their field.)
It’s just a really unfortunate analogy.

Breaking News: CNN): — “Two men have been arrested in connection with an effigy of Sen. Barack Obama that was hung outside a building at the University of Kentucky in Lexington,
Contrast with Palin Effigy:
From the La Times:
“Offensive as it may be, the Palin doll — outfitted with beehive wig, glasses and a vintage Neiman Marcus red coat dress — appears to violate no law, said officials of the Secret Service, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the West Hollywood city Code Enforcement Division.
“The sheriff made this clear: This is a country that has freedom of speech, and we protect that right even when we think it’s idiotic and stupid and in bad taste,” said Steve Whitmore, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department.
“If it is nonviolent and doesn’t cause any problems, then they have the right to do it.”
FemiSex to readers: Please note that no pictures are posted by the news media of the Obama effigy, but every story posted on Palin effigy came replete with pictures. NO ARREST WAS MADE in the Palin effigy. No statement from Mr. Whitmore about the opening wounds of violence done to females in the longs history of violence agaisnt females in the USA. (Psst, perhaps rape victims magically forget the crimes committed against them, the fingers grasping at their throats, psst Mr. Whitmore take note, violence was done here! Psst, Mr. Whitemore, would you dare say the same if you were dealing with Obama effigy? No Harm No Foul only poor taste? )
Femisex deplores Both effigies But…Now it the Time for women to make the Palin effigy their primary cause. Women need to put violence against women at the top of their agenda until this societal ill recedes! Now is the time to remind folks like Steve Whitemore that violence against women, unlike violence against blacks, has not precipitously declined. Hundreds of thousands of rapes in the U.S. every year are perpetrated against women. Domestic violence pock-marks American culture. NOW is the Time to focus on Female HATE CRIMES.
I leave you all with the nice-told tale of violence against women—a Long Island husband arrested this week for garroting his wife and then crying sadly before the cameras in a plea to help find the “killers.”

It’s interesting. I belong to a significant contingent of conservative voters who have, for the past few months, intentionally given false information to pollsters. By significant, I mean overwhelmingly large in number. Why the news hasn’t reported this in unknown to me, because they know. We are all voting for McCain. The current polling data is extremely skewed, folks. I, personally, have been contacted by Zogby, Rasmussen, Reuters, AP, Gallup, CBS and Fox – some more than once.

Dancing where? My vote belongs to me and not to a candidate. A candidate can not ‘take away’ votes from another candidate whether in Arizona, Illinois or elsewhere. The vote belongs to the citizen. The media and press keep stifling the rise of a viable third party (as is available in all other western democracies) by the notion that the parties and not the voter has a priori right to a vote.

WITH ALL OF THE VOTER SUPPRESSION TACTICS AND MACHINE TAMPERING OF THE GOP, A DEMOCRAT NEEDS MORE THAN A MAJORITY OF VOTES TO ACTUALLY WIN. WE SAW THAT IN 2000 AND 2004, EVEN THOUGH THE MSM CONTINUES TO IGNORE THAT REALITY AND FOCUS ON THE GOP LIES ABOUT ACORN INSTEAD.

In the long run, where Obama or McCain run ads is not what matters. The economy will decide this election. Millions have been or are in the process of being land off. Retirees have lost Two Trillion in value in retirement funds. People have lost homes, health care, pensions, the ability to afford to send children to college/higher education. And meanwhile, CEO’s have gotten hundreds of millions for leading their corporations into bankruptcy. According the the UK Guardian there are 70 Billion in bonuses scheduled for this year, many for bailed out companies. McCain adviser Carly Fiorina (the one who said we should let American auto makers go bankrupt) got a 40 million dollar parachute for doing little more than laying off thousands. McCain’s campaign people are almost all former lobbyists or CEOs for the very corporations which stabbed the middle class in the back. Whether or not so-and-so advertists in such-and-such a state is not the issue. The issue is that Bush-Cheney, McCain-Gramm promoted the “let the rich get richer and the middle class get jobless” philosopy which is killing us all. We need someone who cares for the Middle Class, and that someone is Barack Obama.
Posted by: JAB | October 31, 2008, 1:49 pm 1:49 pm
The size of an Obama victory adds legitimacy to his decisions. 54% is better than 52% but not as good as 57%, etc. A Demo president, Demo House, and Demo Senate are all a clear direction change by the American people (whether we as individuals support it or not). It’s important to Obama’s presidency that he represents all americans and not be exclusive as is Bush and his Born-again/Neo-con entourage. A ‘decent’ showing in traditionally Red states is important tobring the country together.

McCain defends AZ, even if Obama loses AZ, it is a very strong statement to come close in his opponents home state. I think the Dems will win it all this year because the other side has no plan. Ive been trying to play devils advocate, sit on both sides, but the GOP makes it very hard to come to their side. We are not “real americans”, their supporters openly attack both us and Obama, some want to see harm come to them or us. And what is with all this Socialist talk? You people don’t even know what socialism is. Im an economics major, I should know. And no one has defined it properly, you guys sound so ignorant. AND, you Repugs keep acting as if youre going to move away if Obama gets elected. YOu say things like, “I hope this whole counrtry falls apart so you can see the mistake you made.” Excuse me, most likely you’ll still be here too, suffering just as much. Stop pretending that you’re so nonchalant about Obama winning, and actually come up with solutions. Like please explain to me McCains tax plan. He attacks Obama on it 24/7, yet has given no specifics of his own. That is his partys downfall.Every election, they smear their opponent, and it usually works. But this year….

Why would Republicans organize to decieve pollsters? It seems like a waste of energy, time, and resources.
Especially since many people base their decision to participate in GOTV campaigns on the likelihood that it will have an impact.
Skewing the polls by lying to pollsters is more likely to cost McCain votes… especially since positive poll numbers has given Obama an enormous boost in visibility and fundraising.
I suppose at sme level, there might be some satisfaction, on an individual level of sticking it to the pollster… On a larger scale… such deceptions hurt your candidates from the top of the ticket all the way to the bottom.
From a strictly partisan perspective… I say… do whatever you can to sabotage McCain in the press. The more the GOP does this, the less tempted Democrats will be to even try. (Which preserves Obama’s net favorable rating, to boot).
But from a purely rational perspective… I cannot understand why someone would do this. It sounds more to me like a lie.

It is a coalition of:

- the OBNOXIOUS (i.e., the Neocons, the Bush, Cheney, McCain and Palin types).
- the PARASITES (i.e., the greedy/filthy rich, whose speculative abuses we are all now paying for).

And for the love of God will you stop pretending that race has nothing to do with your life decisions. Why did it take so long for a party to nominate a black president? The GOP supporters are looking for anything to indicate a racial bias, then indict Obama with the “evidence”. I’ve got news for you. Race was a part of this election before Obama got in it. The voters have racial preferences, and there is nothing wrong with that IMHO. But to turn it around on a black person who is trying to do something great with their lives; this is just disgusting. It seems more like you are looking for a reason not to like the man OTHER than his race. I again personally have no problem with that. What you personally belive is up to you, im not trying to change your mind about black people. But to pretend that every person in this country is totally neutral on this issue, to scoff as Rush Limbaugh so obesely said of the Powell endorsement “it was all about race!” No, it was about stick it to Bush and the GOP. Anyways, why can’t you have racial preferences. We already do it. If you’re white most likely you like to hang around other whites. It doesn’t make you racist, thats just the way things work. And yet, the Republican supporters are so proud of what they have accomplished, Whites and Blacks are equal, have similiar SocioEconomic statuses, and we all enjoy how you dress up stuffed monkeys with Obama bumper stickers. It is this hypocrisy that is losing you this election. Maybe in a decade or so we can revisit this race issue and the ignorant populace out there will have evolved. But probably not

“Obama is a narcissistic egomaniac. The race is drawing closer and closer and he is thunbs his nose at the GOP. Well, I think he is in for a rude awakening come Nov.4th. Read em’ and weep Hussein…..you lose!!!”……..Ah, a qualified clinical psychologist finally appears to give us a factual diagnosis. Except that these kinds of statements are generally a projection of the writer’s own problems. As far as thumbing his nose at the GOP, Obama has wisely been inclusive, that is why a number of prominent GOP’ers have switched sides. Obama has stated a plan and given as much detail as possible without putting everyone to sleep whereas McCain jumps from one thought to another and is yet to provide a cohesive outline of what he plans on doing.

Blah blah blah. Replace “Obama” with “Kerry” and all these same stories were run in 2004. “Kerry has the support of foreign nations”, “Kerry threatens to steal traditional red states”, “Long time Republicans defecting to Kerry”. And look what happened to him. He was long-faced after the election. Oh wait….he was lnog-faced BEFORE the election! McCain wins and big.

Obama leads all the national tracking polls by 4 pts to 11 pts.
He leads every swing state many by double digits.
He is destroying McCain in the electoral college and is even putting ads up in McCain’s homestate of Arizona.

McCain will win AZ, and it is wasting campaign money for Obama to run ads there. McCain is a politician of the past and his ideas are not relevant to our world anymore. His econmic adisors are the same crowd the deregulated the investment banks and did away with the capitalization requirements which alowed them to take on huge amounts of debt and they all crumpled together. Phil Gramm was not only a major roll player in this, his wife sat on the ENRON board of directors. There is nothing that these goofs will not to in the name of big buiness even now that we have been driven into the crowd and America has lost its standing in the world. What a disgrace this Republican leadership has been. We are fighting a war in Iraq costing thousands young American lives and millions of Americans have lost a chunk of retirement savings and millions more have or will soon lose jobs, not to mention inflation and the ever rising food prices. If this is what Republicans think was good leadership they are in denial and to blame this on the Dems is an outrage. Even during the last two years, Bush had veto power and he often even signed statements on Republican passed bills that stipulated he would not enforce the laws they passed. Anyone who wants to salvage, restore and rebuild our country needs to go Democrat for now. If they get too “liberal” in two years you can vote to change the congress. But face it, things cannot get much worse after the devastation of eight years of Bush/Cheney, unless of course you happen to be an oil company exec. or a Halliburton exec. or BlackWater exec, then you might say as McCain did, that the fundamentals are doing well.

Remember this Obama nation. The expectations of today and the realities of tomorrow are never the same.
Expect everyone to pay higher taxes, no rebate for the 95%, even if he does nothing in 2010 taxes will return to the Bill Clinton levels. This administration will be a return to the days of Jimmy Carter.
In an interview with a Colorado radio station, Obama appeared to be engaged already in expectation lowering. Asked about his goals for the first hundred days, he said he would need more time to tackle such big and costly issues as health care reform, global warming and Iraq.
“The first hundred days is going to be important, but it’s probably going to be the first thousand days that makes the difference,” he said. He has also been reminding crowds in recent days how “hard” it will be to achieve his goals, and that it will take time.
“I won’t stand here and pretend that any of this will be easy — especially now,” Obama told a rally in Sarasota, Florida, yesterday, citing “the cost of this economic crisis, and the cost of the war in Iraq.” Obama’s transition team is headed by John Podesta, a Washington veteran and a former chief-of-staff to Bill Clinton. He has spent months overseeing a virtual Democratic government-in-exile to plan a smooth transition should Obama emerge victorious next week.
In short we will take the all holy one nearly 3 years to bring about the prosperity he has been promising.
It’s off to work I go, so I can pay the taxes I owe….

McCain is pinning his hopes on a comeback.
But what John McCain is not getting,
is that many people want to finally get off the trainwreck that has been the Bush Administration of these last 8 years, of which McCain was a part.
These are the people that are currently unemployed and without healthcare and these are the people that are on the verge of losing their homes, and these are the people who have lost loved one’s in a manufactured war.
Their desire for change is much, much greater than McCain’s ambitions to win an election, and that will be the difference that will decide the outcome come Nov 4th.

McCain is an old man and he served his country well. It is becoming increasingly evident that the end of his service is nearing it’s end. Sadly he comes across as a pathetic old man gasping at his last straw. I am not saying this to put a good man down, but this is the sad truth. Sen. McCain should have been serving out his term in the senate and leave the Presidential aspirations to the younger, more vibrant and dare I say more intelligent candidates.
The Republicans who voted for McCain in the primaries made a huge error and McCain is paying for it. Notice how Obama/Biden says nothing negative about McCain personally. They don’t have to. McCain does that himself by the way he carries himself… walking around aimlessly in te 2nd debate; referring to Obama “that one”, etc. Then he picked Sara Palin! Now, don’t get me wrong. We all like hockey moms, but do we really think that Palin is qualified to be President. Can she stand up and debate real issues about the economy and sit across from world leaders and talk about something else other than children (as she did with Karazai of Afghanistan? I think not. Maybe in Alaska where there is only 700,000 people she could get away with it, but in a nation of 300,000,000 whoa nellie! That’s another matter.
The icing on teh cake was when McCain, maverick that he is made an unlicensed plumber who does not believe in taxes period (he owes the state back taxes, the centerpiece of his campaign. What does these 2 decisions say about Sen. McCain judgement? He vetted neither one. In fact he met briefly with Palin one time months ago and he only saw the plumber guy on TV asking Obama a question.
I feel bad for McCain because instead on riding off into the sunset, he is looking more like the bad guy who at the end of the movie, has just been gunned down by the star and the buzzards are circling overhead.

Why would I vote for you Barack Obama?
Why would I want to vote for a man that does not seem to grasp capitalism? Why would I vote for a man that has very little experience? Why would I want to vote for a man that will be the head of our military yet has never served and does not truly understand what it would mean to send our men into war? Why would I vote for a man that stood under a pastors teaching of hate for years, and as soon as it started to hurt his campaign he denounced him? Why would I vote for a person that has in anyway been linked to terrorist of any kind? Why would I vote for a man that said he would run his campaign financing one way then went the other way? Why would I vote for a man that lied on to our nation during the debates? Why would I vote for a man that wants to take control away from business owners and the businesses they own? Why would I vote for a man that wants to tax me even more than I am already taxed! Why would I vote for a person that is in anyway linked to voter fraud? Why would I vote for a man that has very very little foreign policy experience? Why would I vote for you, a man that picked a running mate that does not even think you are qualified?
Nothing you “say” can ever make these things go away in my mind, you can’t do one thing, then say it never happened. You are not the man to lead this country and you are not what you say you are, and it scares the crap out of me that the people of this great nation have let you get as far as you have gotten.
Sincerely,
A concerned citizen of the United States of America.

Obama’s Redistribution Tax Increase Now to hit FAMILIES gross earnings between $75,000 – $100,000 For months I have wondered how Senator Obama’s tax increases would affect those families who filed joint returns. Would the tax increase actually amount to an increase on individuals earning $ 250,000 per year or would the inverse occur in which joint filers would see an increase in taxes at a joint income of $250,000 annually. Now Senator Biden has moved the target group down to $150,000 and Obama announced
“FAMILIES”! Not Individuals would see a tax increase. !

NY Voter-Cameron Start building your bomb shelters if Obama gets elected . Obama’s foreign policy in a nutshell is negotiate, equivocate, capitulate.
Biden stated that the inexperienced Obama would be “tested” by our enemies and the world would not support how Obama handled the crisis. This is borne out by the numerous stupid statements Obama has made about foreign policy. For example, Obama said that he would meet “unconditionally” with Iran. Obama tried to deny this statement but because it was on the record he could not wiggle out of it. Obama than justified his statement by using the meeting between Kennedy and Khrushchev as a positive example of two world leaders meeting without preconditions. Problem is when Kennedy met with Khrushchev in Vienna he was so inexperienced that by his own admission, he Khrushchev beat him up. As a result of that meeting as well as Kennedy’s blundering on the Bay of Pigs, Khruschev was emboldened to put those nukes into Cuba.
In recent years we have learned just how close we came to all-out nuclear war. Obama is much less experienced than Kennedy. Kennedy had been a Congressman and a two term Senato and still he brought us to the brink of the worst disaster in world history. Obama’s idea of talking to our enemies without preconditions if you are too inexperienced to know what you are doing can be a big mistake. An inexperienced President like Obama at the helm (who is so ignorant of American foreign policy history) will put the world at great risk for another world war.For the sake of world peace McCain/Palin 08.

Do you really think all these issues can be resolved in the first 100 days? Do you think that people who support Obama think that? Yes, it will take 3 years to realize some of the things Obama wants to do – probably longer for quite a bit of things. The issues we face will NOT be resolved overnight no matter WHO is elected. I’m happy that he can be honest about it. Obama 08′

Again with Khalidi? Didn’t we already find out that McCain donated MORE money to this “terrorist”? While we’re on the subject, why does every Obama hater think they are a top notch terrorist investigator? Oh, I found out that Obama shared some oxygen with Mr. XXX, and in my many years of uncovering terrorist cells in the US, this constitutes treason. Thats what you keep saying, over and over. He knows this guy, that guy, black panthers this, ACORN that. Can we ever stop? Is that really important to you? Are we going to squabble over associations and donations while the economy takes a nosedive? McCain doesn’t care about that. Cindy McCain is sitting on a tenth of a BILLION dollars, from a business she didn’t start and doesn’t currently oversee. They just pick up the checks while Americans drink themselves to death over the state of the nation. I wish someone would just say “I don’t care for blacks, so I’m not voting Obama. Period. People are getting involved with this election on an unprecedented level. Yet some keep pretending that all these other issues matter, things they would have never researched in all the past elections they have been alive for. Whats so different about the canindates now? Hmmm, I wonder… Thats the point. I am not shocked at all that people came out against democrats, thats been going on for years. But its a smoke screen used by conservatives who, for some reason, do not want to admit a racial preference. You know why you don’t like him, and we know the truth as well. This charade is frustrating, but at least it is exposing many people for what they really think.

Here is just one example of McCains explosive temper.
Celebrating His First Senate Election In 1986, Sen. McCain Screamed At And Harassed A Young Republican Volunteer. “It was election night 1986, and John McCain had just been elected to the U.S. Senate for the first time. Even so, he was not in a good mood. McCain was yelling at the top of his lungs and poking the chest of a young Republican volunteer who had set up a lectern that was too tall for the 5-foot-9 politician to be seen to advantage, according to a witness to the outburst. ‘Here this poor guy is thinking he has done a good job, and he gets a new butt ripped because McCain didn’t look good on television,’ Jon Hinz told a reporter Thursday. At the time, Hinz was executive director of the Arizona Republican Party. … Hinz said McCain’s treatment of the young campaign worker in 1986 troubled him for years. ‘There were an awful lot of people in the room,’ Hinz recalled. ‘You’d have to stick cotton in your ears not to hear it. He (McCain) was screaming at him, and he was red in the face. It wasn’t right, and I was very upset at him.’” (Kris Mayes and Charles Kelly, “Stories Surface On Senator’s Demeanor,” The Arizona
Republic, 11/5/99)

This temper fit by McCain happenned with Strom Thurmond.
In 1995, Sen. McCain Had A “Scuffle” With 92-Year-Old Sen. Strom Thurmond (R-SC) On The Senate Floor. “In January 1995, McCain was midway through an opening statement at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing when chairman Strom Thurmond asked, ‘Is the senator about through?’ McCain glared at Thurmond, thanked him for his ‘courtesy’ (translation: buzz off), and continued on. McCain later confronted Thurmond on the Senate floor. A scuffle ensued, and the two didn’t part friends.” (Harry Jaffe, “Senator Hothead,” The Washingtonian, 2/97)

He was also a self proposed patriot who slandered his political opponents with baseless attacks like Mc Cain. He often incited acts of violencs and hate kinda like at Mc Cain rallies. He was also a self proclaimed Maverick in his own mind only he used different words. He told people to fight for their country and get angry to be the most powerful and condemn other countries who stand against us as enemies who dont need to be spoken with but dealt with harshly. sound familiar. Yes old jophnny boy sounds more like Hitler than Obama does. Yet you yahoos on the Republican side are screaming in fear because you are about to lose power. Get over it cry babies. I never heard such a group of wimps in my life. Republicans need to grow up and accept responsibility for the failures in this country and hold their own leaders accountabke for it instead of blaming everyone else. That is a loser move. Be a winner and go against the leaders doing a bad job. That is the Republicans and their policies.. Vote Democratic to have some moral standing against this instead of groveling at their feet to help them stay in power. Stand up or step aside and let the other adults handle this.

I have three questions for all of you Obama supporters.
1) What is the income threshold for the higher taxes Obama is proposing?
a) $250,000
b) $200,000
c) $150,000
d) $120,000
2) Is Obama talking about net or gross income?
3) Is Obama talking about individual or family income?
I am really confused about this. I thought the $250,000 figure was pretty reasonable. Now that it looks like the threshold income has gone down to $120,000 that would definitely hurt me. I am a small business owner and I would have to lay off some of my staff if the threshold went much below $150,000. I would appreciate an answer as I have not voted yet and if the figure is really $120,000, I will have to vote for McCain even though I have been a life time Democrat.

From a poster on The Confluence..
“Did anyone already post the breaking news that a former ACORN employee testified in PA today, exposing rampant fraud, non-existent quality control, and on-going communications with the Obama campaign? The AP has picked the story up, and Frank Lund of the WSJ spent an extensive amount of time with her. He will be putting out an article asap. She was fired for using an ACORN credit card for expenses, so they will try to discredit her, but apparently it was powerful testimony and it could reveal that the Obama Campaign has been actively working with ACORN and lying about it.”

When you accuse senator Obama got a real estate deal from Rezko, please don’t forget senator McCain can not remember how many house he has. When you say governor Palin’s experience is not qualified for VP office, please remember your candidate for president is less experienced than her. As for Farrakhan, he has in fact done many great things for the black community. Obama has repudiated his anti-Semitic rhetoric, but does not believe in rejecting a person’s good works just because they may have done things wrong in the past.

or
(b) Purposely used the term in an incorrect, negative way to manipulate readers’ views
First of all, if Jake Tapper ever watched a college/NFL football game, “Dancing in the End Zone” happens AFTER one team has SCORED A TOUCHDOWN.
In political term, a “touchdown” does NOT happen until NEXT TUESDAY!
So Mr. Tapper, how could you label the Obama’s ads in Arizona “Dancing in the End Zone”??
The election is NOT over yet!
The ads in Arizona is an offensive move, and if you want to use Football terms, that’s a BLITZ or a RUSH, and so on.
Mr. Tapper, you are insulting the intelligence of people like me who know about the game of football AND think critically.

The What ‘IF;s’ on Obama & McCain- What if the Obamas had paraded five children across the stage, following the debate, including a three month-old infant and an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter? What if John McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review? What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his college graduating class? What if McCain had only married once, and Obama was divorced? What if Obama had met his second wife in a bar and had a long affair while he was still married? What if Michelle Obama was the wife who not only became addicted to pain killers but also acquired them illegally through her charitable organization? What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard? What if Obama had been a member of the Keating Five?(The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s.) What if Obama couldn’t read from a teleprompter? What if Obama was the one who had military experience that included discipline problems and a record of crashing seven planes? What if Obama was the one who was known to publicly display a serious anger management problem? What if Michelle Obama’s family had made their money from beer distribution? You could easily add to this list. If these questions reflected a reality, if the tables were turned, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are? This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative characteristics in another when there is a color difference.

His REAL NAME is “JOE THE UNLICENSED PLUMBER WHO JOHN MCCAIN WOULD TAX MORE THAN OBAMA WOULD.” See, Joe only makes $40,000 a year. (For you right wing math majors out there, 40,000 is less than 250,000.) The company he works for ALSO makes less than $250,000 a year.
Joe was LYING. Get it? LYING. And so are McCain and Palin.
When you give tax breaks to working Americans who will spend it on stuff they need, instead of to billionaires who will just stash it in offshore bank accounts, you are stimulating the economy, increasing corporate earnings, and yes, “spreading the wealth”. That’s not socialism, that’s CAPITALISM. That’s not anti-American, that’s PRO-AMERICAN.

SuznAZ, Obama is the one who is into the politics of fear and personal destruction. Obama learned all of his fear and personal destruction techniques of campaigning from the well known communist, Alinsky and his book “Rules For Radicals” that Alinsky dedicated to Satan.
Further, Obama is not a uniter Obama is a divider. Nisra Poller reports that Obama has received millions of dollars of foreign money. Contributions from Gaza, a Hamas controlled camp … a million from Qaddafi and across the Muslim world. They are electioneering for him illegally in mosques across America including Unindicted co-conspirator and US front for the Muslim Brotherhood, CAIR.
The media is withholding the evidence of Obama’s past. They refuse to publish the truth about Obama. The LA Times is Hiding Incriminating Video of Obama with Radical Palestinian. Khalidi, Ayers and Dohrn Obama will sell the US and Israel down the river.

The buzz words here are “on-going communications with Obama campaign”. It did not say on-going with Sen. Obama. I guess you’re holding Obama responsible for what hundreds of workers are doing illegally?
From a poster on The Confluence..
“Did anyone already post the breaking news that a former ACORN employee testified in PA today, exposing rampant fraud, non-existent quality control, and on-going communications with the Obama campaign? The AP has picked the story up, and Frank Lund of the WSJ spent an extensive amount of time with
her. He will be putting out an article asap. She was fired for using an ACORN credit card for expenses, so they will try to discredit her, but apparently it was powerful testimony and it could reveal that the Obama Campaign has been actively working with ACORN and lying about it.”

You are all fools, following a pied piper down to the river. There will be war; there will be times of good and bad economics. But we are a democracy built on capitalism. The backbone of our nation was built on Calvinistic values of hard work, not entitlement. My interpretation of Mr. Obama’s views is a message of entitlement. My father worked 3 jobs, never once excepting any assistance from the Government. I worked my way through university and climbed up the corporate ladder. I do not feel any of my hard earned cash should be distributed among those who choose not to take the risk or the opportunities to better themselves. They do not deserve my welfare. I donate substantially to charity three times a year and do not consider myself as a selfish person. I will vote for my children and for my grand children. I will vote for the candidate that is the best representation of American Values and will uphold the American Dream. And not the Candidate that will forge a nation of lazy bums.

I love that the foaming at the mouth republicans only start spewing their “liberal media” load when the media isn’t carrying the water for them like it has for the last 8 years. The media was great when it was showing everything bush did, all the bombs dropping, etc. But they couldn’t show the flag draped coffins coming home. They couldn’t show the grieving families at Arlington. When they did, they were “unamerican, elite, liberal sympathizers”. Again, and always, the GOP wants to have a different set of rules and standards for them and another set of rules and standards for the rest of the country.

“By Tim Reid, The Times of London
Barack Obama’s senior advisers have drawn up plans to lower expectations for his presidency if he wins next week’s election, amid concerns that many of his euphoric supporters are harboring unrealistic hopes of what he can achieve.
The sudden financial crisis and the prospect of a deep and painful recession have increased the urgency inside the Obama team to bring people down to earth, after a campaign in which his soaring rhetoric and promises of “hope” and “change” are now confronted with the reality of a stricken economy.
One senior adviser told The Times that the first few weeks of the transition, immediately after the election, were critical, “so there’s not a vast mood swing from exhilaration and euphoria to despair.”
The aide said that Obama himself was the first to realize that expectations risked being inflated.”
You people are such blind fools…!…

myvotewillcount, The Obama campaign contributed $830,000 for get out the vote efforts to a sister group of ACORN than tried to hide the fact by saying it was for “lighting and staging” until they were caught red handed and had to fess up. Obama lied about his connections to ACORN by saying his only connection was as an attorney until a document and picture of Obama appeared showing Obama conducting training sessions for ACORN workers.
Yes I do hold Obama accountable, if he becomes President, God forbid, the buck stops at his desk and he must be held accountable for whatever his staff does. Nixon was.

James – Before this week, did you even know who Rashid Khalidi is? Have you ever read any of his objections to U.S.-Israeli policy? Regardless of whether or not you agree, his objections have been to the fundamental right of the world to decide that Palestinians could be forcibly removed off of their land. If you were in his shoes, would it make you a “radical” if you argued against that policy? What if the world community decided to push you off of your land? Would you just walk away singing, “We Are The World”? Give me a break!
In America, people who fight against unfair tactics are called revolutionaries. I guess that does not apply to brown and black folks!

Obama has absolutely no record of significance. America does not need “fundamental change” we need to rely on our constitution. That has what has gotten us this far. Yes things are bad now but it is just as much the Democrats faults. In the case of Fanni Mae/Freddie Mac stuff…even more so. Obama is a great speaker but that’s it. He’s proven already that he has no problem with lying and he never answers a direct question with a direct answer. Off teleprompter…he is quite unimpressive. If we elect this man. We deserve what we get. He is dangerous.

Also if Obama plans to raise the taxes of gross family income, I’m screwed and will have to lay off at least one of my part time staff. lowes4321, President Bush was able to get the economy growing again after 9/11 and Katrina. It was only after the Democrats took over Congress that the economy started to go down hill.
Obama and the Democrats are against creating 100s of thousand of new jobs and lowering energy cost by blocking drilling for new oil, building new refineries and new nuclear power plants. The so called “green jobs” that Obama is talking about will have to be paid for by the tax payers. The jobs McCain is talking about creating by opening up drilling, building new refineries and new nuclear power plants will pay for themselves and help improve the value of the dollar, not to mention help reduce our deficit.
Obama and the Democrats are the cause of our current economic crisis. Obama was paid more money from Freddie and Fannie than any other Senator other than Dodds. The Democrats refused to regulate Fannie and Freddie which coerced banks into giving loans to people who could not afford to pay for them.

Hi ConcernedDemocrat,
You’re welcome.
About your comment of the $120,000, if you click on the Obama tax calculator, select the range of
$100,000-150,000
since 120,000 is within this range… You know this, right? (I’m sorry, but I find it hard to believe that you’re making 120,000/year and have trouble finding the 120k on that tax calculator.)
About your comment of small businesses will get ‘screwed by Obama’s tax’ — I highly doubt it. My family has a restaurant big enough for around 300 people. We’ve been in business for about 10 years, and our annual income is WELL BELOW the $250,000/year range! Under Obama’s plan, our tax will NOT go up (it will even go DOWN!)
So, I really don’t understand why you’re worrying that your tax will be increased when you make around $120,000?
And on further reading, I realized that you’re really not here to find information about the tax, but to just appear as if you are!
Anyhow, if you’re going to support McCain or whoever, just say so, but please don’t pretend that you’re an undecided “Democrats” and spreading false rumours about Obama’s Tax plan.

Suffice to say, I don’t think McCain will lose Arizona, but it’s sort of cool to see Obama and the Democrats bring the battle to his home turf, and force him to defend several of his 13 homes.

It seems to me that the trajectory of this race gives some credibility to a possible Obama win in Arizona or Georgia, particularly if turnout is higher than in the past among young voters and minority voters (not only African American but also Hispanic).
Recent endorsements reinforce this expectation. Support for Obama among Democrats is not surprising, but a striking development recently has been Barack Obama’s endorsement by prominent Republicans. The most notable was Colin Powell, but others include former Republican Governors, as well as Charles Fried, who was Ronald Reagan’s Solicitor General. Despite some policy differences with Obama, they have seen him as more stable, better informed, better qualified, and less impulsive on critical issues, including the nation’s economic crisis.
Possibly more important, as the election nears, some conservatives have grown terrified at the thought that Sarah Palin might become president in a complicated and dangerous world where her incompetence would put the nation at unprecedented risk. Even with the hope that a Palin presidency would never occur, that same alarm has impelled them to lose faith in the judgment of Senator McCain, based on his selection of an unqualified candidate for the second place on the ticket. It would be a mistake to confuse their preference for Obama with a permanent shift in political allegiance. At this point, their overriding concern appears to be the nation’s safety, but their support for Obama in this election may not be a good predictor of how they will vote in the future.

Get out and see the world.
Our country is being left in the dust.
There are models – based on capitalism and democracy – but with much higher social standards.
There are countries where you can walk the streets at night without tripping over the homeless or fear for getting knifed.
It’s time to do away with the Reagan philosophy that said that anyone sleeping in the streets was doing that because they wanted to.
It’s time to lift our country up.
I don’t see McCain / Palin saying that, let alone doing it. They are clinging to a myth.

If 35000 people show up for a Obama rally, the opposition says they are seeking welfare, lazy, or playing hooky from McD. If 3500 show up at McCain or Palin rallies, they are concerned decent citizens afraid to lose what they have. Doesnt anyone else see the underlying tone of that message? We do need a change. Weve accomplished very little in the last 50 yrs with this mentality and maybe its time to try it from the top down instead.
