Democrats Lead in Early Battleground Voting
ABC News’ Hope Ditto and Ferdous Al-Faruque Report: There may still be 13 days remaining until the Election, but some voters have already cast their ballots. The early numbers in key battleground states show Democrats are outperforming Republicans.
In the first day of early voting in Florida, this past Monday, almost double the number of Democrats came out to vote as did Republicans. More than 81,800 Democrats voted compared to 42,700 Republican voters and 21,100 Independents.
However, Republicans hold a lead in Florida among returned absentee ballots. According to numbers from the beginning of this week, more than 295,000 Republicans had returned absentee ballots compared to 199,800 Democrats and almost 76,800 Independents.
Iowa, another battleground state, absentee ballot returns show Democrats outnumbered Republicans nearly two to one. Almost 113,000 Democrats have returned their ballots compared to over 61,000 Republicans.
In North Carolina, 34 percent of all one-stop absentee voters, or in-person early voters, are African Americans. Looking down the aisle, 22.9 percent are Republicans and 60.7 percent are Democrats.
In Georgia, 57.7 percent of early voters are women and 35.6 percent are African American. As of today almost 826,000 ballots have already been cast with over 705,000 of those votes made in person.
In New Mexico, 35.5 percent of returned absentee ballots are from Republican voters, compared to 56.3 percent who are Democrats.
The tide is going in the opposite direction in Pennsylvania, where 39 percent of returned absentee ballots come from Democrats, and 53 percent from Republicans. This is especially interesting when considering Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., has devoted a large chunk of his remaining resources toward an eleventh hour victory in Pennsylvania.
In 35 states and the District of Columbia, voters have the opportunity to vote in person prior to November 4th. .
Additionally, all 50 states and the District offer mail-in absentee ballots for people unable to make it to the polls on Election Day. Not only does this increase the convenience for the electorate, it also gives an idea of what kind of turnout to expect come Election Day.

It is amazing how much petty stuff these blogs focus on as people become more bitter and upset as “their” side may not win. No concern for America, no concern for law, and no concern that the real people responsible for our mess is congress- not the President. Congress makes and passes the law and no one will pay attention after they cast their little vote. Pay attention to the real issue people.

THE source who told us last week about Michelle Obama getting lobster and caviar delivered to her room at the Waldorf-Astoria must have been under the influence of a mind-altering drug. IBD/TIPP Tracking Poll: Day Ten
Posted: Wednesday, October 22, 2008
Contrary to other polls, some of which show Obama ahead by double digits, the IBD/TIPP Poll shows a sudden tightening of Obama’s lead to 3.7 from 6.0. McCain has picked up 3 points in the West and with independents, married women and those with some college. He’s also gaining momentum in the suburbs, where he’s gone from dead even a week ago to a 20-point lead. Obama padded gains in urban areas and with lower-class households, but he slipped 4 points with parents.

this is a rally cry for all McCain supporters in Pennsylvania! Barack Obama is trying to STEAL our election using ACORN. He is not our daddy’s Democrat. Gov. Rendell? he’s cool, good administrator… turned Philly around (not as good as Rudy Giuliani, though) but he’s not bad. Bob Casey? he’s not anti-gun, and he’s not pro-abortion. Barack Obama is none of the above! Barack Obama is a big-town elitist. He is filled with contempt for us. I don’t even think he likes us. He writes off our values as “bitter, cling to guns and religions, and bigotry.” I think he thinks he’s better than us! and in the second debate, he said a bunch of government scientists invented the first computer… the ENIAC was invented by our University of Pennsylvani scientists! a friend of Pennsylvania would never steal the credit rightfully due to our universities for the Federal Government.

PennsylMcCainia for McCain: You’re upset about credit for ENIAC going to the federal government, who conceived, commissioned, and paid for it rather than the University of Pennsylvania? Really? With the economy tanking, traditionally allies abandoning our soldier to fight alone, and Bin Laden STILL living a free man, you’re splitting hairs over who designed a computer in 1946? And Obama actually said the following:
“You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And it’s not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”
You can interpret them as you wish, but remember the context was answering a campaign worker who was basically attacking small town folks as stupid.

Early voting has begun, and problems are already emerging at the polls. In West Virginia, voters using touchscreen machines have claimed their votes were switched from Democrat to Republican. In North Carolina, a group of McCain supporters heckled a group of mostly black supporters of Barack Obama. In Ohio, Republicans are being accused of trying to scare newly registered voters by filing lawsuits that question their eligibility.

This is the man you Republicans are standing by…ummm…. maybe not! Only the ones who write in on this site.
New info out today:
The timing of the financial crisis couldn’t have been worse for Republicans. When Lehman Brothers went under on September 15, McCain was tied or in the margin of error in national polls. But when his poll numbers fell along with the stock market, wealthy conservatives saw little reason to invest their shrunken holdings on what was far from a sure thing.
“Republican donors at the end of day aren’t stupid,” said another Republican familiar with third-party activities this cycle. “They’re not going to throw good money after bad news.”
And it wasn’t just the economic bad news – McCain did little to help his own cause.

Chuck, it seems you are placing a great deal of importance on polls, so you are hardly in a position to be cautioning others. Indeed, it’s not over until the fat lady sings, and regardless of what side you fall, we are witnessing history in the making.. something that all should be proud of and will be able to tell your children and grandchildren about. And if you happen to be standing on the wrong side of history come results day, you can always leave that part out of your story when you tell them about it.

‘Round And ‘Round Go The Polls
Posted by Vaughn Ververs| 3
A new Associated Press-GfK poll is sure to hearten Republicans who have been exposed to one bit of bad news after another in recent days. The poll shows the race in a dead-heat nationally, with Obama clinging to a 44 percent to 43 percent lead among likely voters, a much tighter race than almost any just about any other survey has shown in the past ten days or so.
In fact, Obama appeared to have been broadening in lead in most polls. Last week’s CBS News/New York Times poll showed Obama with a 14-point lead. A Fox News poll out today has Obama up nine points. The Democrat leads by ten points in the Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby poll and is up ten points and 9 points respectively in the NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll and the ABC News/Washington Post poll. On the other hand, a new GWU/Battleground poll has Obama up just two points.
So what are we to think of some of these wildly fluctuating poll numbers? Well, first, it’s important to remember that every poll is simply a snapshot in time and that each poll measures voter intent slightly differently – whether it’s how they identify likely voters, how they “weight” the results or how some questions are asked (although the “horserace” question is pretty straightforward.
In its write-up of the poll today, the AP put it this way: “Polls are snapshots of highly fluid campaigns. In this case, there is a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points; that means Obama could be ahead by as many as 8 points or down by as many as 6. There are many reasons why polls differ, including methods of estimating likely voters and the wording of questions.” Statistically speaking, a very small percentage of polls will simply be wrong.

In this environment after what Bush did and his sidekick McKlan plans to do, after all the nasty words McCain used againt women in the past and how Palin abused the powers, if you still vote for McKlan being a Democrat, then isn’t it obvious that you are really not a Democrat. my contention stands. Sen. Obama’s analytical skills are flawed. He has said the surge hasn’t worked. It has. Not only are Americans killing terrorist, Sunni “Awakening Councils” are killing Al Quaeda terrorists who claim to be Sunni, and the Shiite government is killing Iranian militias who claim to be Shia. That’s political reconciliation! you see, Sen. McCain was right. In the war against terror, the distinction between Shia and Sunni is immaterrial. What is material, and Sen. Obama failed to grasp in the Russia-Georgia conflict, is the difference between a beligerant aggressor and an unprovoked invasion.
ENIAC was commissioned by the US government, but it was not government scientists. the government can buy anything it wants. Humvees from AM General, planes from Lockheed Martin, roads from local constructors, and in this case, a balistics calculating machine from the University of Pennsylvania. The idea that the government can turn out the same results at the same efficiency by administering the production itself, like Sen. Obama wants to do for healthcare and retirement savings, is a flawed analysis.
Furthermore, Sen. Obama is showing us contempt when he tries to explain why us small town Pennsylvanians feel the way we feel. Even if his analysis of why we feel the way we feel is right, I don’t want him making it. And given the fact that his analysis on why I feel the way I feel is flat out wrong, I would rather he not make public policy that affects me based on that analysis.

“Ex-GOP operative tells cautionary tale about ‘how to rig an election’”:

PennsylMcCainia for McCain, I hope you are considering, concerning the georgia/russia conflict, that Georgia was the aggressor, and provoked Russia into action. That IS what happened. Georgia was the invader, but it got turned around on them because they were foolish enough to attack Russian citizens. We cannot support nations who do this sort of radical thing. This is just the sort of thing that starts world wars. This is the problem, when we attack unilaterally we set the bad example for our little allies to follow.

very well said: FORGET ABOUT WHAT THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA IS SAYING PEOPLE!!! this is GOING to be a close election. without a doubt. there are a couple different reasons (in my humble opinion) that the media is “sealing the deal” for obama. first, the obvious answer: the mainstream media is overwhelmingly liberal. so, in doing this, they are trying to convice the “mindless” viewers, that obama has it won, and thus swaying voters to “follow” the mainstream. the second reason, is to create ultimate chaos and outrage if mccain wins narrowly like bush did in 2000. at this point, with soooo much riding on the election, can you imagine if mccain wins on election day?! after the mainstream has already “told us” the winner?! ABSOLUTE CHAOS.

By the way, new information coming out indicates that Obama and Ayers shared the same office space in Chicago for at least three years about ten years ago. They both listed their offices of their various positions at 115 S. Sangamon in Chicago.
Looks like Obama’s been lying again about “just a guy in my neighborhood,” as they obviously would have run into each other on a fairly regular basis sharing the same business address.

What a disgrace he is to this country. He should be in jail.
Bart Simpson, Family Guy, Daffy Duck, King Kong, O.J. Simpson
and Raela Odinga all are celebrities; and with the exception of Odinga
and O.J. Simpson, they also are fictional characters. And yet, all of
them gave money earlier this month to the campaign of Barack Obama.

Specifics don’t interest many people nearly as much as inspiring rhetoric and a confident style. It is especially painful to think that there are people living in the safety and comfort of civilian life who cannot be bothered to find out the facts about candidates before voting to put the fate of this nation, and of generations yet to come, in the hands of someone chosen because they like his words or style. Telling a friend that the love of his life is a phony and dangerous is not likely to get him to change his mind. It is much the same story with true believers in Barack Obama. They have made up their minds and not only don’t want to be confused by the facts, they resent being told the facts. History shows any number of countries in crises worse than ours, where “change” turned problems into catastrophes. Many today seem to assume that if things are bad, “change” will make them better.
But many 20th century leaders with inspiring rhetoric and great self-confidence led their followers or their countries into utter disasters. These ranged from Jim Jones who led hundreds to their deaths in Jonestown to Hitler and Mao who led millions to their deaths

Posted by: Jo | October 22, 2008, 6:39 pm 6:39 pm
What specifics do we know about Barack Obama’s track record that might give us some clue as to what kinds of “changes” to expect if he is elected?
We know that he opposed the practice of putting violent young felons on trial as adults. We know that he was against a law forbidding physicians to kill a baby that was born alive despite an attempt to abort it.
We know that Obama opposed attempts to put stricter regulations on Fannie Mae — and that he was the second largest recipient of campaign contributions from Fannie Mae. We know that this very year his campaign sought the advice of disgraced former Fannie Mae CEO Franklin Raines.
Fannie Mae and Raines were at the heart of “the mess in Washington” that Barack Obama claims he is going to clean up under the banner of “change.”
The public has been told very little about what this man with the wonderful rhetoric has actually done. What we know is enough to make us wonder about what we don’t know. Or it ought to. For the true believers — which includes so many in the media and movie stars — it is just a question of whether you like him or not. THAT IS DANGEROUS REASONING.

What about McCains health care tax credits which will also be sent to people who do not pay tax.
I have yet heard any argument from a republican why this is a good idea.
Is McCain a closet socialist? Or is he just a ‘moderate’ socialist? Or maybe ‘right leaning’ socialist?

Obama knows NOTHING bout being President. He is only reciting the transcript that was prepared for him by his advisors and it changes periodically to suit their purposes.
Campaign finance records. Nearly half of the $600 million raised by Obama to date has come from wealthy donors and special interests. Obama had taken far more money from Exxon-Mobil than McCain.
SUCH A NICE FELLOW…..NOT!!
Obama has a 100 percent pro-choice voting record according to NARAL Pro-Choice America; his rating from the National Right to Life Committee is zero. “Look, I got two daughters — 9 years old and 6 years old,” Obama has said. “I am going to teach them first about values and morals, but if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby.”

ok, put it this way. to clear the air on the socialist thing, we already have socialism here. all entitlement programs are socialism. welfare, social security, medicare, etc., are all “scialist” programs. this is all we have to pay attention to. barack obama will create alot more of this, based on his idealogy, and john mccain wont. thats the bottom line. a vote for barack obama will be a vote for bigger government. he says this EVERY TIME HE OPENS HIS MOUTH. at least with mcain, we have HOPE of controlling his actions through real ACTIVISM. obamas idealism will not allow him to a change of action on big government. its that simple.

Folks
While the turnout so far is astounding and I’m very glad that so many people are turning out to vote, I don’t put much faith in polls.
You want your candidate to win?
VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!
The only poll that counts is Nov. 4. If you don’t vote, don’t complain if your candidate loses. Don’t let complacency get the better of you. If you can vote early, do it. If you must wait until Nov. 4, like I do, be ready to stand in line and be patient.
Don’t allow others to bully you into not voting. If you see a problem, there are many places you can call for help that are non-partisan. Your state Secretary of State’s office is a good place to start.
There is a non-profit, non-partisan helpline: 1-866-OUR-VOTE
Try contacting your local party office, even if you are crossing party lines in your vote. They will help you. Polling officials are supposed to help, make sure they do their jobs.
If you need transportation to the voting booth, plan ahead. Call a friend, family member, your church, voter assistance organizations, the party you are supporting. But, PLAN AHEAD. In the past, some people have done what they could to jam phone lines to prevent voters from contacting their local party offices. I am not goint to point fingers, it’s happened on both sides I’m sure. My point is, unexpected problems can force people to stay home.
If you know someone who may need a ride or help, HELP THEM! It is your obligation as an American and as a decent, democracy loving person to do it.

Merry, His 100% pro choice voting record is one of the reasons I am voting for him. You act as if this is a bad thing!! He is supporting womens rights! Palin and McCain want to take away the rights of women to choose. McCain and Palin believe women should be second class citizens and their health rights should come last, even in the case of rape and incest! Palin even chose to charge poor rape victims thousands of dollars for a rape investigation.

Merry,
I too have turned off ABC, NBC, and CBS news coverage. Not because of Obama, but because I find the bias of the American media very disturbing.
McCain is fighting this election with his hands tied. Anything that can help McCain is turned negative by the media.
Case in point: the way the media swarmed and attacked Joe the Plumber, just to divert the attention from serious and pertinent issues we’re facing.
We Americans condemn socialist or dictator-ruled countries for persecuting journalists from reporting the truth.
The irony is that the American media have cowardly abused their freedom by spinning their reports to favor their own political bias.
Posted by: Donoke9_10 | October 22, 2008, 6:54 pm 6:54 pm
O’bama lies all the time. McCain didn’t vote 90% times with Bush. (By the way, the President DOESN’T EVEN VOTE) McCain only voted Republican 70% some times in all those years he’s been a Senator (and that was when he needed to).
Taxes?
By letting the Bush cuts expire, Obama would produce a $2 trillion tax increase that some economists predict will rumble through the already weakened economy like an earthquake
Obama has promised to raise various taxes that will fall on most economic classes, including the dividend tax, the FICA tax cap, the capital gains tax, the estate tax, and new taxes on gasoline/ Obama will tax businesses and capital gains more heavily, even though America already has the world’s second-highest business taxes! So unless you buy something from a business, like groceries or clothes or gasoline . . . or unless you get a paycheck from a big or a small business, don’t worry. It’s not going to affect you.”
Talk about being POOR folks.

Old ideas.
Old concepts on foreign policy.
Old concepts on the economy.
Old ways of governing.
Palin represents the dumbest of America:
Global warming does NOT exist.
Environmental protection is unnecessary and should be stopped.
All natural resources are to be exploited fully without regard to environmental damage.
The US is the world’s attack dog and is free to invade any country it wants.
The war in Iraq is a “holy war” against the Muslims.
The war in the middle east should be expanded to include Iran.
Evolution does NOT exist.
Creationism should be taught in public schools.
There should not be a seperation between church and state.
Abortion should be banned including after rape or incest.
Homosexuality is a sin against God and should be banned.
Supreme Court Judges should be picked according to agreeing with the items above.

Posted by: Jwench | October 22, 2008, 7:08 pm 7:08 pm
If the liar wins (Obama) (heaven help us all), it won’t be because of all this illegal money he has come up with, and all the misleading information he has fabricated about McCain, it will be due to the Dow Jones and the last years in Washington which were mostly caused by the Democratic Congress/Senate.
Obama’s lingering problem is that with all his money, he does not have anything new to say. He has been repeating the same mantra for his campaign over and over again ever since the spring. By now, we all know that he wants to extend health insurance to “47 million Americans” (never mind that 10 million are here illegally) and cut taxes for “95 percent of the population” (never mind that half don’t pay any taxes to begin with and the “tax cut” is really just a welfare check).

Here’s a little about Acord. The list of questionable things about this man are many and disturbing.
ACORN spokesman Lewis Goldberg acknowledges in the Oct. 11, 2008, New York Times that Obama trained ACORN leaders. And Obama worked as a lawyer for ACORN
Over the years, ACORN and its front groups, like the one Obama ran in Illinois, have registered more than 4 million voters. When authorities in Virginia checked ACORN registrations, it found that 83 percent were fraudulent or had problems. This, in theory, could mean ACORN may have created the opportunity for stealing more than 3.3 million votes in this November’s election, a margin far wider than that by which Obama is likely to win.

Wink!–do you want your children to have her as a roll model!!!Think about that when you go to the polls–she may end up running our country if they are elected!! I like Sarah Palin’s tax program:
On Aug. 7, 2008, the Alaska Legislature approved a measure she promoted. The administration of Alaska’s governor Sarah Palin now gives $1,200 to every single Alaskan. This comes to about $741-million for state residents. In addition, each resident will receive an annual dividend of $2,000 from an oil-wealth savings account. That comes to about $741-million for state residents
For a family of 7 (Gov. Palin has 7 members in her family) that means an additional $22,400.00 in income sent from the state of Alaska. WOW, who needs a job! Back to the trailer, Billy Bob!
Sarah Palin is more ready for the Washington, D.C. crowd than Obama. Obama has proven he cannot even take care of a simple housing project. How can YOU expect Obama to run the country?
Obama wants to tax the oil companies and waste the collected taxes with federal government spending. The same spending waste used for his housing projects in Illinois. Where did the tax dollars go?
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2008/06/27/grim_proving_ground_for_obamas_housing_policy/?page=1
Obama gave the people in Illinois broken down housing and dangerous living conditions. Where did the money go? What pockets were filled with tax payers’ money from Washington, D.C.? We know where Governor Sarah Palin’s tax money is. The tax money is in the pockets of the residents of Alaska. Sarah Palin is a great role model.
Anyone that votes for Obama is corrupt.
Sarah Palin is four times the better candidate when comparing to Obama. Obama who could not even run a housing project in Illinois. Obama has no idea how to run a country when Obama cannot run a housing project program.

This is not about money it is about country! I think everybody needs to take a step back either left or right side and realize that this election is heading in the wrong direction for all America! The mainstream media and the extrem left are going to cause hell if Obama does not win, you can see the writing on the wall with all the hate I am seeing posted. This is America not Kenya, and if you look at what trnaspired there last year we are heading in the same direction. It is a shame reguardless of what side you are for, and we have nobody to blame but ourselves. Like I said before it is the extrem left and the Dems fueling this hate. I know that as as Rebulican I will live with the results one way or the other, but I am afraid that I can not say the same for the left. The seeds of hate have been planted by the Mainstream media and the extrem left, and if Obama does lose I have a feeling the streets all across american will be shed with Blood! It makes me sick to read some of the hate that is coming out in these post, and to be honest it is a scary thing!

We did not find any run down housing project like sponsored by Obama.

We did not find a waste of $500,000,000.000 as in Obama’s housing project. A vote for Obama breeds corruption.

Just one more thing the biased media won’t mention about their chosen one.
Former deputy attorney general of Pennsylvania, Philip J. Berg, a Democrat has filed a lawsuit to force Obama to produce a CERTIFIED copy of his birth certificate. According to Berg, Obama’s paternal grandmother has said she was present at his birth in Kenya, after which his mother promptly returned with her baby to the United States.
If that is true, Obama could be constitutionally ineligible to be president.
His campaign has produced a “certificate of live birth” from Hawaii indicating that Barack Hussein Obama II was born Aug. 4, 1961. Critics, however say the document could have easily been forged and is not a substitute for a CERTIFIED birth certificate.
No reporter has been allowed to see the original certificate of live birth or its certificate number, which is blacked out on copies of it on the Obama site.
Skeptics note that Obama’s “Father’s Race” is identified on this document as “African,” a geographic and modern politically correct term rather than a 1961 racial designation. The standard term used on American birth certificates until the U.S. Census changed it in 1980 would have been listed as “Negro” and not African

Take a minute to think about this. Even at the lowest levels of the Federal Government they do background and security checks. Do you really think that he would have been allowed to enter the Senate if they had not checked him out?
Secondly, with all the money and connections the Clinton’s have and the GOP, you would think that if there were anything not right it would have come out before now.

The Obama campaign released a digital scan of Mr. Obama’s Hawaiian birth certificate on its Web site in June. It is not the original birth certificate, but a new version produced by the State of Hawaii in 2007. Mr. Berg said he believes the certificate is a forgery.
“They don’t have [the original documents],” said Mr. Berg. He is convinced that there is no birth certificate for Mr. Obama issued in 1961. If the defendants do produce them, he has promised to withdraw the case.
The second portion of the case deals with Mr. Obama’s childhood in Indonesia. Ms. Dunham married an Indonesian businessman named Lolo Soetoro, taking Mr. Obama to Indonesia for several years. Mr. Berg says that Mr. Obama had to have been a citizen in Indonesia while he was there, and in consequence, he would be either a naturalized U.S. citizen or an illegal immigrant.
“In the ’60s, Indonesia was at war, and they didn’t allow dual citizenship,” said Mr. Berg. “Mr. Obama admits to going to school there, something he would only have been able to do if he were adopted or considered a natural born citizen of Indonesia.”
He was known as Barry Soetoro while in Indonesia. He returned to the U.S. and stayed with his grandparents at age 10.

If you care to read that story :fraudulently registering himself to vote at a Los Angeles address where he no longer resides — his boyhood home — to meet a state law requiring all signature gatherers to register or be eligible to vote in California.
He did this twice, in 2006 and 2007, according to a statement issued by the California secretary of state, Debra Bowen. A spokeswoman for Bowen said investigators found the home at the address where he registered was no longer owned by Jacoby’s family.
The other part is recent. Learn how to read.

Polls are weighted. They are only indicators, and subject to the inherent weaknesses (it’s only as good as the pool of responders). Obama supporters are so anxious to get their guy in, so it’s to be expected they’re the ones going out the gates in a rush to cast their vote… That won’t decide the race…the race will be decided once the rest of the populace votes on election day…just like the race between the tortoise and the hare… :)

CHICAGO – The squat brick buildings of Grove Parc Plaza, in a dense neighborhood that Barack Obama represented for eight years as a state senator, hold 504 apartments subsidized by the federal government for people who can’t afford to live anywhere else. But it’s not safe to live here. About 99 of the units are vacant, many rendered uninhabitable by unfixed problems, such as collapsed roofs and fire damage. Mice scamper through the halls. Battered mailboxes hang open. Sewage backs up into kitchen sinks. In 2006, federal inspectors graded the condition of the complex an 11 on a 100-point scale – a score so bad the buildings now face demolition.
Grove Parc has become a symbol for some in Chicago of the broader failures of giving public subsidies to private companies to build and manage affordable housing – an approach strongly backed by Obama as the best replacement for public housing.
As a state senator, Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee coauthored an Illinois law creating a new pool of tax credits for developers. As a US senator, he pressed for increased federal subsidies. And as a presidential candidate, he has campaigned on a promise to create an Affordable Housing Trust Fund that could give developers an estimated $500 million a year. Looks like a touch of corruption to everyone.

The same Joe Biden said he would be honored to run on the ticket with John McCain because, quote, “the country would be better off.” And here we have some common ground. I want a president who spent 22 years in uniform defending our country. I want a president who isn’t afraid to use the word “victory” when he talks about the wars we are fighting. I want a president who’s ready on Day One. I want a president with the experience and the judgment and the wisdom to meet the next international crisis – or better yet to avoid it. I want John McCain as our commander-in-chief.
Thank you Joe Biden for telling the truth.

What you don’t seem to understand is th he changed voters registration from DEM to REP through deception AND he changed his address “so he would appear to meet the legal requirement that all signature gatherers be eligible to vote in California.” He didn’t change his address to vote.
I guess you didn’t read the entire story and didn’t understand what you read.
He’s been charged with felony voter “registration” fraud and perjury. Pretty serious charges, especially since he was paid between $7-12 per signature by the GOP.

The allegations can also help cover up actual election fraud undertaken on behalf of McCain. This is the tactic Karl Rove learned so well from his right-wing predecessors: accuse your opponent of your own unethical or illegal acts.
These are a tried and true – and grossly undemocratic – tactics. And they are often accomplished with the complicity of the press.

GOP did the same in 2000, 2004 and 2006.. why should 2008 be any different?

It’s no just CA, either. Which I forgot to mention.
“Several dozen voters recently told The Times that YPM workers said they had to become Republicans to sign the petition, contrary to California initiative law. Other voters said they had no idea their registration was being changed.
YPM has been accused of using bait-and-switch tactics across the country. Election officials and lawmakers have launched investigations into the activities of YPM workers in Florida and Massachusetts. In Arizona, the firm was recently a defendant in a civil rights lawsuit.” LA Times

Planting Seeds of Disaster
ACORN, Barack Obama, and the Democratic party.
By Stanley Kurtz, Senior Fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Institute
‘You’ve got only a couple thousand bucks in the bank. Your job pays you dog-food wages. Your credit history has been bent, stapled, and mutilated. You declared bankruptcy in 1989. Don’t despair: You can still buy a house.” So began an April 1995 article in the Chicago Sun-Times that went on to direct prospective home-buyers fitting this profile to a group of far-left “community organizers” called ACORN, for assistance. In retrospect, of course, encouraging customers like this to buy homes seems little short of madness.
Militant ACORN
At the time, however, that 1995 Chicago newspaper article represented something of a triumph for Barack Obama. That same year, as a director at Chicago’s Woods Fund, Obama was successfully pushing for a major expansion of assistance to ACORN, and sending still more money ACORN’s way from his post as board chair of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. Through both funding and personal-leadership training, Obama supported ACORN. And ACORN, far more than we’ve recognized up to now, had a major role in precipitating the subprime crisis.
I’ve already told the story of Obama’s close ties to ACORN leader Madeline Talbott, who personally led Chicago ACORN’s campaign to intimidate banks into making high-risk loans to low-credit customers. Using provisions of a 1977 law called the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Chicago ACORN was able to delay and halt the efforts of banks to merge or expand until they had agreed to lower their credit standards — and to fill ACORN’s coffers to finance “counseling” operations like the one touted in that Sun-Times article. This much we’ve known. Yet these local, CRA-based pressure-campaigns fit into a broader, more disturbing, and still under-appreciated national picture. Far more than we’ve recognized, ACORN’s local, CRA-enabled pressure tactics served to entangle the financial system as a whole in the subprime mess. ACORN was no side-show. On the contrary, using CRA and ties to sympathetic congressional Democrats, ACORN succeeded in drawing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac into the very policies that led to the current disaster.
In one of the first book-length scholarly studies of ACORN, Organizing Urban America, Rutgers University political scientist Heidi Swarts describes this group, so dear to Barack Obama, as “oppositional outlaws.” Swarts, a strong supporter of ACORN, has no qualms about stating that its members think of themselves as “militants unafraid to confront the powers that be.” “This identity as a uniquely militant organization,” says Swarts, “is reinforced by contentious action.” ACORN protesters will break into private offices, show up at a banker’s home to intimidate his family, or pour protesters into bank lobbies to scare away customers, all in an effort to force a lowering of credit standards for poor and minority customers. According to Swarts, long-term ACORN organizers “tend to see the organization as a solitary vanguard of principled leftists…the only truly radical community organization.”
ACORN’s Inside Strategy
Yet ACORN’s entirely deserved reputation for militance is balanced by its less-well-known “inside strategy.” ACORN has long employed Washington-based lobbyists who understand very well how the legislative game is played. ACORN’s national lobbyists may encourage and benefit from the militant tactics of their base, but in the halls of congress they play the game with smooth sophistication. The untold story of ACORN’s central role in the financial meltdown is about the one-two punch to the banking system administered by this outside/inside strategy.
Critics of the notion that CRA had a major impact on the subprime crisis ask how a law passed in 1977 could have caused a crisis in 2008? The answer has a lot to do with ACORN — and the critical years of 1990-1995. While the 1977 Community Reinvestment Act did call on banks to increase lending in poor and minority neighborhoods, its exact requirements were vague, and therefore open to a good deal of regulatory interpretation. Banks merger or expansion plans were rarely held up under CRA until the late 1980s, when ACORN perfected its technique of filing CRA complaints in tandem with the sort of intimidation tactics perfected by that original “community organizer” (and Obama idol), Saul Alinsky.
At first, ACORN’s anti-bank actions were relatively few in number. However, under a provision of the 1989 savings and loan bailout pushed by liberal Democratic legislators, like Massachusetts Congressman Joseph P. Kennedy, lenders were required to compile public records of mortgage applicants by race, gender, and income. Although the statistics produced by these studies were presented in highly misleading ways, groups like ACORN were able to use them to embarrass banks into lowering credit standards. At the same time, a wave of banking mergers in the early 1990′s provided an opening for ACORN to use CRA to force lending changes. Any merger could be blocked under CRA, and once ACORN began systematically filing protests over minority lending, a formerly toothless set of regulations began to bite.
ACORN’s efforts to undermine credit standards in the late 1980s taught it a valuable lesson. However much pressure ACORN put on banks to lower credit standards, tough requirements in the “secondary market” run by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac served as a barrier to change. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac buy up mortgages en masse, bundle them, and sell them to investors on the world market. Back then, Fannie and Freddie refused to buy loans that failed to meet high credit standards. If, for example, a local bank buckled to ACORN pressure and agreed to offer poor or minority applicants a 5-percent down-payment rate, instead of the normal 10-20 percent, Fannie and Freddie would refuse to buy up those mortgages. That would leave all the risk of these shaky loans with the local bank. So again and again, local banks would tell ACORN that, because of standards imposed by Fannie and Freddie, they could lower their credit standards by only a little.
So the eighties taught ACORN that a high-pressure, Alinskyite outside strategy wouldn’t be enough. Their Washington lobbyists would have to bring inside pressure on the government to undercut credit standards at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Only then would local banks consider making loans available to customers with bad credit histories, low wages, virtually nothing in the bank, and even bankruptcies on record.
Democrats and ACORN
As early as 1987, ACORN began pressuring Fannie and Freddie to review their standards, with modest results. By 1989, ACORN had lured Fannie Mae into the first of many “pilot projects” designed to help local banks lower credit standards. But it was all small potatoes until the serious pressure began in early 1991. At that point, Democratic Senator Allan Dixon convened a Senate subcommittee hearing at which an ACORN representative gave key testimony. It’s probably not a coincidence that Dixon, like Obama, was an Illinois Democrat, since Chicago has long been a stronghold of ACORN influence.
Dixon gave credibility to ACORN’s accusations of loan bias, although these claims of racism were disputed by Missouri Republican, Christopher Bond. ACORN’s spokesman strenuously complained that his organization’s efforts to relax local credit standards were being blocked by requirements set by the secondary market. Dixon responded by pressing Fannie and Freddie to do more to relax those standards — and by promising to introduce legislation that would ensure it. At this early stage, Fannie and Freddie walked a fine line between promising to do more, while protesting any wholesale reduction of credit requirements.
By July of 1991, ACORN’s legislative campaign began to bear fruit. As the Chicago Tribune put it, “Housing activists have been pushing hard to improve housing for the poor by extracting greater financial support from the country’s two highly profitable secondary mortgage-market companies. Thanks to the help of sympathetic lawmakers, it appeared…that they may succeed.” The Tribune went on to explain that House Democrat Henry Gonzales had announced that Fannie and Freddie had agreed to commit $3.5 billion to low-income housing in 1992 and 1993, in addition to a just-announced $10 billion “affordable housing loan program” by Fannie Mae. The article emphasizes ACORN pressure and notes that Fannie and Freddie had been fighting against the plan as recently as a week before agreement was reached. Fannie and Freddie gave in only to stave off even more restrictive legislation floated by congressional Democrats.
A mere month later, ACORN Housing Corporation president, George Butts made news by complaining to a House Banking subcommittee that ACORN’s efforts to pressure banks using CRA were still being hamstrung by Fannie and Freddie. Butts also demanded still more data on the race, gender, and income of loan applicants. Many news reports over the ensuing months point to ACORN as the key source of pressure on congress for a further reduction of credit standards at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. As a result of this pressure, ACORN was eventually permitted to redraft many of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s loan guideline.
Clinton and ACORN
ACORN’s progress through 1992 depended on its Democratic allies. Whatever ACORN managed to squeeze out of the George H. W. Bush administration came under congressional pressure. With the advent of the Clinton administration, however, ACORN’s fortunes took a positive turn. Clinton Housing Secretary Henry Cisnersos pledged to meet monthly with ACORN representatives. For ACORN, those meetings bore fruit.
Another factor working in ACORN’s favor was that its increasing success with local banks turned those banks into allies in the battle with Fannie and Freddie. Precisely because ACORN’s local pressure tactics were working, banks themselves now wanted Fannie and Freddie to loosen their standards still further, so as to buy up still more of the high-risk loans they’d made at ACORN’s insistence. So by the 1993, a grand alliance of ACORN, national Democrats, and local bankers looking for someone to lessen the risks imposed on them by CRA and ACORN were uniting to pressure Fannie and Freddie to loosen credit standards still further.
At this point, both ACORN and the Clinton administration were working together to impose large numerical targets or “set asides” (really a sort of poor and minority loan quota system) on Fannie and Freddie. ACORN called for at least half of Fannie and Freddie loans to go to low-income customers. At first the Clinton administration offered a set-aside of 30 percent. But eventually ACORN got what it wanted. In early 1994, the Clinton administration floated plans for committing $1 trillion in loans to low- and moderate-income home-buyers, which would amount to about half of Fannie Mae’s business by the end of the decade. Wall Street Analysts attributed Fannie Mae’s willingness to go along with the change to the need to protect itself against still more severe “congressional attack.” News reports also highlighted praise for the change from ACORN’s head lobbyist, Deepak Bhargava.
This sweeping debasement of credit standards was touted by Fannie Mae’s chairman, chief executive officer, and now prominent Obama adviser James A. Johnson. This is also the period when Fannie Mae ramped up its pilot programs and local partnerships with ACORN, all of which became precedents and models for the pattern of risky subprime mortgages at the root of today’s crisis. During these years, Obama’s Chicago ACORN ally, Madeline Talbott, was at the forefront of participation in those pilot programs, and her activities were consistently supported by Obama through both foundation funding and personal leadership training for her top organizers.
Finally, in June of 1995, President Clinton, Vice President Gore, and Secretary Cisneros announced the administration’s comprehensive new strategy for raising home-ownership in America to an all-time high. Representatives from ACORN were guests of honor at the ceremony. In his remarks, Clinton emphasized that: “Out homeownership strategy will not cost the taxpayers one extra cent. It will not require legislation.” Clinton meant that informal partnerships between Fannie and Freddie and groups like ACORN would make mortgages available to customers “who have historically been excluded from homeownership.”
Disaster
In the end of course, Clinton’s plan cost taxpayers an almost unimaginable amount of money. And it was just around the time of his 1995 announcement that the Chicago papers started encouraging bad-credit customers with “dog-food” wages, little money in the bank, and even histories of bankruptcy to apply for home loans with the help of ACORN. At both the local and national levels, then, ACORN served as the critical catalyst, levering pressure created by the Community Reinvestment Act and pull with Democratic politicians to force Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac into a pattern of high-risk loans.
Up to now, conventional wisdom on the financial meltdown has relegated ACORN and the CRA to bit parts. The real problem, we’ve been told, lay with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. In fact, however, ACORN is at the base of the whole mess. ACORN used CRA and Democratic sympathizers to entangle Fannie and Freddie and the entire financial system in a disastrous disregard of the most basic financial standards. And Barack Obama cut his teeth as an organizer and politician backing up ACORN’s economic madness every step of the way.

Michael F. Scheuer, the founding head of the CIA’s bin Laden unit: Senator Obama must have left a couple zeroes off his plan for reinforcements. Two brigades — which is about 6,000 men — will not make a lick of difference in Afghanistan, which is a country the size of Texas, with the highest mountains on earth, a hostile population, and a growing Islamist insurgency. If Obama starts talking about 100 brigades — about 300,000 men — then the public might be able to assume he means business. Otherwise, he is just blowing smoke. Obama and all the other candidates in the other parties constantly say that “we have tried the military option and it does not work.” This of course is a bald lie; U.S. military power has been used most daintily in Afghanistan and Iraq. If the military power we have delivered in both places so far is the best we can do, then American taxpayers have been monumentally swindled in the amount of taxes they have paid for their military during the past 25 years. And another billion dollars for aid for Afghan reconstruction would just be another billion wasted. It appears that Obama and his fellow candidates in both parties have not learned that programs for economic recovery, internal stability, and nation-building cannot be started with any hope of effectiveness and durability until the enemy has been definitively annihilated. If Obama is right and the military option has failed, then more aid is just throwing money away because — as all can see — the enemy is growing in size and ferocity and shows no signs of being on the edge of annihilation.
Moreover, Senator Obama has also advocated sending our U.S. military into Pakistan without the approval of the Pakistani government, invading the sovereign territory of a troubled partner in the war against terrorism. The military must expand to have troops in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan. Another reason to call on retired General Colin L. Powell. If you are young and you have cast an early vote for Obama, be sure to have a bag packed and your traveling shoes on your feet. You will be reporting to the nearest military induction center for your assignment to go to basic training. It will make a man of you.

McCAIN: Yes. I’m extremely comfortable and basically it’s when American interests and values are threatened. And sometimes when our values are threatened, over time our interests can be threatened. I can’t make an argument to you that Kosovo posed an immediate threat to our national interest. But I can argue that it offended our values to a degree that if allowed to go unchecked, then unrestrained, once Milosevic started to do his ethnic cleansing, then sooner or later our interest would be threaten because that same kind of scenario would transpire in other places in Europe.

Obama Speach
It is time to turn the page. When I am President, we will wage the war that has to be won, with a comprehensive strategy with five elements: getting out of Iraq and on to the right battlefield in Afghanistan and Pakistan; developing the capabilities and partnerships we need to take out the terrorists and the world’s most deadly weapons; engaging the world to dry up support for terror and extremism; restoring our values; and securing a more resilient homeland.
The first step must be getting off the wrong battlefield in Iraq, and taking the fight to the terrorists in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Obama also said he would get out of Iraq. Obama does not know tactics. Obama has to secure Iraq or he opens a backdoor to attack our troops.

Here’s a thought… How about IRAQIS secure Iraq… We owe them a lot for coming in there and screwing up their country, even if we did free them from the tyranny of Sadam Hussein. We had NO BUSINESS going there in the first place… oh, wait… except all that OIL. I am sorry that you were forced to go to that God forsaken country, BlackJack… your commander in chief lied to you. You may not want to admit it out loud, but deep down inside, you know it’s true. Afghanistan is where we should have concentrated our efforts right from the beginning, but that’s all water under the bridge now, isn’t it. McCain may not make it through his first term if he were elected, and there is no way in HELL I would trust Sarah Palin to run this country in his absence. Barack Obama bears the light this country desperately needs. He will do the right thing, make sound decisions, and get us back on track to once again be the greatest nation in the world, as we rightfully should be. I already mailed my ballot… what about the rest of you?

Hey Jim,
The caviar and champagne story was debunked days ago. Michelle Obama was not even staying at that hotel. The NY Post admitted it was not true. She was not even in the that hotel.
How about Palin’s $150,000 wardrobe, paid for by donations to the RNC or the $21,000 for travel expenses for her daughters, charged to the Alaskan government or the $50,000 to redo her office in Wasilla. Oh an lets see, the investigation into how she got her house built for free by awarding contracts to certain contractors, who have a connection to Ted Stevens or her altered expense report where she charged the state $17,000+/- for the nights she spent in her home.

Anyone who thinks that the Good-Old-Boys in Washington, D.C. will let a junior senator run the United States of America is in for a rude awakening. It will be new alright, but I do not think you will find it so refreshing.
In many ways I hope Obama does win the presidency so you can all see the real Obama. I do not really care who wins. I am set for the rest of my life and I can live any where in the world. I have my funds secured in the best banks of the world with plenty of solid assets. Obama talks a good story about sharing the wealth. The wealth that Obama claims in sharing is the earnings of the ordinary workers and the entrepreneurs that have an idea for business and succeed. You will never touch the wealth of the very rich. There can be no sharing the wealth of a Walton, a Bill Gates, a DuPont, a Rockefeller, a Mellon or the more than 400 rich in the United States. You all have been conned by one of the best.
It is now time for me to go to a sunny pristine beach touched by the cool blue waters of the Pacific. You want to share my wealth? You must earn it the way I did by using my God given intellect. I was born poor; I slept on the floor as a child and at times my stomach burned with hunger for there was little or no food.
Now I live in extravagant comfort and I do give generously to the deserving poor, but I will share anything with those I do not know. Many of you only deserve that which you have and nothing more.
Good-bye to all and have a nice life.

“We had NO BUSINESS going there in the first place… oh, wait… except all that OIL.”
Blackjack, that is MY quote from my last post… we agree on this point with one slight difference… You forget that the middle east has about 2/3 or better of the remaining oil reserves in the WORLD. Oil is ABSOLUTELY why gwb sent you and all your heroic brothers and sisters there. The problem lies in the fact that he LIED to the AMERICAN PEOPLE and all of the brave men and women who were sent there to fight and die for nothing more than CORPORATE GREED. BTW, if you truly are “set for life” as you claim, it’s no wonder you are so very scared of Obama winning the election… You might just have to pay a bit more in taxes. Let me ask you a question… When is enough, enough? Have you no compassion for your fellow man who lies in the cold street tonight with no home, food, job, nor hope? I may be only forty years old, but I tell you one thing I have learned in life. That is, there is a lot more to living than money or material things. I have been there, and I chose to give it up… Why? Because even though I had everything I could ever want out of life, and more, I wasn’t HAPPY.So I chose a different path and found more happiness and personal satisfaction than I ever imagined possible. Our society today needs some massive changes if we ever hope to end the disparity between the “haves” and the “have nots”, if we ever hope to end the “class warfare” that rages on every day here in our own country. The American people deserve better. Lets’ all work for a BETTER America, for our kids and grandkids’ sake, for they are the ones who will pay the ultimate price.

Look, we’ve been through this bail-out business before with the S&Ls back
in the ’80s and ’90s.
The Feds spent BILLIONS (under the Financial Institutions Reform and Recovery Act) in trying to stabilize that sector. The Federal Housing Authority subsidized the S&Ls to encourage the same thing as the Freddie/Fannie GSEs-subprime interest rates and low down-payments. Sound familiar? Clinton himself called for something like $45 billion in bail out money in the ’90s.
Look at the FDIC…under Carter it went from 40K-100K coverage. Why? The
average bank account is under $10,000. Now it went up again. To protect
the average citizen? Suuuuure.
The point is that this mess was caused by government regulations over the very
monsters they had created to put a home on every lot in keeping with socialist
principals. You can’t regulate severely on one hand, and ignore the realities
of the market on the other. It’s not about regulating Wall Street. That’s
a cop out. Government simply needs to get out of this continuing cycle
of dabbling in capitalism in order to advance early 20th Century New Deal and
Marxist ideologies.

Mark my words as Joe Biden would say,
these Biden comments have sunk the
good ship Obama:
Posted: 4:08 am
October 22, 2008
Barack Obama’s choice of Joe Biden as his running mate prompted a small wave of warnings about Biden’s propensity for gaffes. But no one imagined even in a worse-case scenario such a spectacular bomb as telling donors Sunday to “gird your loins” because a young president Obama will be tested by an international crisis just like young President John Kennedy was.
Scary? You betcha! But somehow, not front-page news.
Again the media showed their incredible bias by giving scattered coverage of Biden’s statements.
There were a few exceptions. On MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” co-host Mika Brzezinski flipped incredulously through the papers, expressing shock at the lack of coverage of Biden’s remarks. Guest Dan Rather admitted that if Palin had said it, the media would be going nuts.
So what gives?
The stock answer is: “It’s just Biden being Biden.” We all know how smart he is about foreign policy, so it’s not the same as when Sarah Palin says something that seems off.
Yet, when Biden asserted incorrectly in the vice-presidential debate that the United States “drove Hezbollah out of Lebanon,” nobody in the US media shrieked. (It was, however, covered with derision in the Middle East.) Or when he confused his history by claiming FDR calmed the nation during the Depression by going on TV, the press didn’t take it as evidence that he’s clueless.
And Biden is the foreign-policy gravitas on the Democratic ticket, so his comments are actually even more disconcerting.
The outakes of his Sunday remarks don’t begin to capture the magnitude of what he said. After warning the crowd that there would be some sort of international incident – Biden could think of four or five scenarios – he told the donors: “We’re gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it’s not gonna be apparent initially, it’s not gonna be apparent that we’re right.”
What does that mean? Obama’s election would provoke an international incident because of his inexperience and even Obama’s biggest supporters won’t be reassured by his response?
Then there were Biden’s predictions on the economy: “I promise you, you all are gonna be sitting here a year from now going, ‘Oh my God, why are they there in the polls? . . . Why is this thing so tough? . . . I’m asking you now, be prepared to stick with us. Remember the faith you had at this point, because you’re going to have to reinforce us.
“There are gonna be a lot of you who want to go, ‘Whoa, wait a minute, yo, whoa, whoa, I don’t know about that decision.’ ”
Biden is teling us that, at a time when Americans need to feel confidence in their government, they will be going “Oh my God.” Not a great message.
Needless to say, if Sarah Palin said this about a McCain administration, the media world would be exploding.
Whether you believe Biden is exaggerating, as he is known to do, or is providing real insight, the double standard in the media does even more damage to their lagging brand.
Part of the problem is their “Obama love,” but we’re also seeing the media elite’s belief – prejudice – that anyone with an R behind their name is dumb. So, if they say something dumb, they must be dumb. A Democrat, like Biden, can make wildly inaccurate or outrageous comments and they are ignored because the TV and press insiders feel they “know who he really is.”
On the stump recently, Sen. Biden declared he had “three words” for what the nation needs: “J-O-B-S.”
Lucky for him, his name isn’t Dan Quayle, or that would have followed him for the rest of his career.

@reaganfan
Let’s talk again on November 4th, after your neocon, right wing elitists have been swept away like so much dirt that they have hidden under the rug these long last eight years. You must realize that the vast majority of the American public has had enough of gwb and the republicants’ policies. Your guys dug themselves a deep hole and this time they won’t be able to steal their way out of it.
Obama/Biden win in a landslide. Mark my words.
BTW nice tagline with the whole “speech” thing… Kinda tired don’t you think?
Oh, and BTW (x2) God help us if McCain does happen to win, and then not complete his term. Sarah Palin as President… Please. She was a last gasp hope to catch some of the momentum that Hillary Clinton had before she was not included on the Obama ticket. If there had been no Hillary in the Primary, there would be no Palin on McCains’ ticket. You know it, I know it, and so does everyone else. Watch her interview with Katie Couric. Pathetic.
Obama/Biden ’08.

Nastyasha,
Here’s the part you need to read about that poll, then read it again, again and again;
“The AP-GfK survey included interviews with a large sample of adults including 800 deemed likely to vote. Among all 1,101 adults interviewed, the survey showed Obama ahead 47 percent to 37 percent. He was up by five points among registered voters.”
PS – YOU LOSE!!!LOL!!!

Do you ABC dorks realize you’re violating the spirit of the law here?
You’re not supposed to start counting votes before the polls close, and your excuse that this isn’t votes but ‘ballots by party’ is a NONSTARTER.
Didn’t you learn your lessons with the debacle of the 2004 campaign coverage?
DO NOT MEDDLE IN THIS ELECTION, newsies. You are losing what little is left of your reputation. If you keep these stories coming, you are going to reap what you are sowing at some point. The newspapers are getting theirs now. The networks won’t be far behind.

Okay, so more than 25% of your sample was NOT likely voters. That there already wrecks any chance of accuracy.
The confession that the lead is half when they toss out that portion shows how foolish it is to include them in the first place.
what they haven’t told you is WEIGHTING. All over the country there are weighted polls, and most of them are heavily weighted toward democrats. 39-33, generally.
But hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of newer Dem registrations are “operation chaos” driven. Those people will NEVER vote for His O-liness.
I suspect the polls are enough wrong that election night is going to be quite tense. Even dem threats of riots won’t make the big O a shoe in.

Having lived in Thailand as an American embarrassed by the Republicans and GWBush’s lying machine for the last 8 years, I just want to say I’m amazed at the dazzling lack of intellect and the gullibility of my fellow Americans. Here you have a jackass that spouts that after being there for 26 years, he’s going to suddenly become the champion of change, and if he croaks in office, his dandy little boob from Wasilla will run the most powerful nation on earth. He’s using the same trickle down theory of economics that have the middle class paying for every rich persons fair share. He’s a hot headed, mean spirited, bought sold and paid for career politician, and a card carrying member of an elite, privileged life, just like George Bush. He’s using the same lack of principles, and fear mongering to get the people of America in a reactionary mood. He’s claimed his opponent lacks experience and puts his election before the country, but then leaves the fate of our nation to a bimbo hockey mom dressed up in NY clothes with absolutely nothing but empty headed space between her ears and zero experience nationally or internationally. How could anyone buy from Karl Rove a third time. Some people love to be abused I guess, some just swallow hard with a blindfold on and cling to an ideology that they are embarrassed to admit is completely built on deception. I don’t think Obama is the issue here. It’s that McCain has clearly demonstrated that he has extremely bad judgement. That he will stoop to the lowest of tactics and do anything or say anything to win. That he’s put our country at grave risk with the possibility that Sarah Palin might inherit the steering wheel of the planet. He’s lied and lied, and lied, and he’s gone from being deeply respected to deeply despicable. But the scary part is all these people who just swallow the painfully shallow and poorly thought out trash that comes out of John McSame’s angry, greedy, ambitious mouth. Fortunately he is up against a man who is thoughtful and intelligent and has a sense of dignity that isn’t easily ruffled by bogus smears and tactics to tie anchors around his neck. Christians for John McCain aren’t Christians at all. Jesus wouldn’t vote for John McCain. He’s a walking bag of most all of the 7 deadly sins. Always has been if you really go through his history.

How ’bout them barladies in Pattaya? And the drugs from the Triangle are kind of nice, too, nice and cheap.
you can get anything you want in Thailand.
Bet that’s why you’re there, and an expert on the seven deadlies.
If you think Christians are voting ‘for McCain’, you’ve been hanging out with hookers too long. The primary, only a few months ago, established that Christians are the LAST people ‘in favor of’ McCain. But he won because liberal states with open primaries gave him the momentum, and because HuckaWeasel did some dirtbag stuff in the carolinas to change the outcomes of caucuses.
It’s not McCain I’m for, it’s Lenin and Marx I’m against. Those guys are just like jesus, they don’t seem to stay dead.

Jo from yesterday – You should get your facts straight. All of these issues are public knowledge.
“We know that he [Obama] opposed the practice of putting violent young felons on trial as adults.”
– So did McCain.
“We know that he [Obama] was against a law forbidding physicians to kill a baby that was born alive despite an attempt to abort it.”
– Obama opposed this law because there was already a state law on the books to do this, and the proposed law also included new provisions that would have interfered with already existing state abortion rights.
“We know that Obama opposed attempts to put stricter regulations on Fannie Mae — and that he was the second largest recipient of campaign contributions from Fannie Mae.”
– Obama was the second largest recipient of contributions from Fannie Mae EMPLOYEES. If you look at contributions from Fannie Mae DIRECTORS and SENIOR EXECUTIVES (who aren’t counted as “employees”) over the same time period, John McCain was the largest recipient – about $20,000 more money than Obama received.
“We know that this very year his campaign sought the advice of disgraced former Fannie Mae CEO Franklin Raines.”
– The Washington Post retracted this story beause they found out it simply wasn’t true.
Oh, and by the way – John McCain’s campaign manager Rick Davis is majority stockholder in a consulting firm that has been receiving thousands of dollars a month from Fannie Mae for the past several years for consulting services provided by Mr. Davis – who earlier this summer reported that he hasn’t worked for the firm in over 2 years. Why is his company getting paid by Fannie Mae for his services when he doesn’t even work there anymore?
Again, all of this information is public knowledge, and has been reported multiple times. It’s good to base decisions on facts – just make sure you have the right facts to work with.

This kind of “Report” is egregiously, terribly bad. NO VOTES HAVE BEEN COUNTED AND WILL NOT BE COUNTED UNTIL NOV. To write a report that more registered democrats have voted early says ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about the state of the race. in no state does your voter registration prevent you from voting for the opposite party in the general election!

Barack Obama has styled himself a centrist, but does his record support that claim?
In this series, we examine Senator Obama’s past, his voting record and the people who’ve served as his advisers and mentors over the years. We’ll show how the facts of Obama’s actions and associations reveal a far more left-leaning tilt to his background — and to his politics.
——————————————————————————–
Part Twenty
Ayers Has Not Left Radicalism Behind
Election ’08: Bill Ayers isn’t out bombing anymore, but he’s never stopped being a radical. His ties to hostile Marxist regimes remain, raising more questions about Barack Obama’s refusal to fully repudiate him.
——————————————————————————–
Part Ninteen
If Bailout Plan Is Too Socialistic, Just Wait For Obama Leviathan
Election ’08: Have Americans been so lulled by Barack Obama’s smooth talk that they don’t realize his plans would expand government into a massive socialist behemoth? His is a soft-spoken, hard-left agenda.
——————————————————————————–
Part Eighteen
Obama’s McKnight In Shining Armor
Election ’08: Obama needed help getting into Harvard Law School. He got it from a disciple of Saul Alinsky who shared the socialist agitator’s belief in the radical change the young community organizer could embrace.
——————————————————————————–
Part Seventeen
Chicago Commune
Election ’08: Barack Obama summed up well the perversity of Democratic Party thinking when he told Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly that it is “neighborliness” for Washington to hike taxes on those who are “sitting pretty.”
——————————————————————————–
Part Sixteen
How Obama Applies Alinsky’s Rules
Election ’08: Barack Obama’s mocking of John McCain, while urging his followers to “get in their face,” are tactics right out of his radical hero Saul Alinsky’s playbook: ridicule and agitation.
——————————————————————————–
Part Fifteen
Community Organizer In Chief
Election ’08: Barack Obama claims he worked for a “small group of churches” as a community organizer. In fact, he was hired by a radical Alinskyite group, and Saul Alinsky’s own son has outed him.
——————————————————————————–
Part Fourteen
Sojourning Socialists
Election ’08: Barack Obama has joined forces with a white socialist he calls a “good friend” — the Rev. Jim Wallis, founder of “Sojourners.” He too believes in “liberation theology,” sans the black nationalism. In fact, Wallis is the white version of Jeremiah Wright, sans the black rage.
——————————————————————————–
Part Thirteen
Michelle’s Boot Camps For Radicals
Election ’08: Democrats’ reintroduction of militant Michelle Obama in Denver was supposed to show her softer side. But it only highlighted a radical part of her resume: Public Allies.
——————————————————————————–
Part Twelve
Alice In Obamaland
Election ’08: One of the “lies” Barack Obama says are being told about him is quite true. It involves a staunch admirer of the Soviet Union and its communist society who helped launch Obama’s political career.
——————————————————————————–
Part Eleven
Finding Friends On Far, Far Left
Election ’08: The saying that a man is known by the company he keeps is true of political relationships. In Barack Obama’s case, some of the groups that support him are an indictment of his political orientation.
——————————————————————————–
Part Ten
Like Father, Like Son
Election ’08: Barack Obama’s economic blueprint sounds like one his communist father tried to foist on Kenya 40 years ago, with massive taxes and succor shrouded as “investments.”

Obama’s Radical Roots And Rules
Election ’08: Most Americans revile socialism, yet Barack Obama’s poll numbers remain competitive. One explanation: He’s a longtime disciple of a man whose mission was to teach radicals to disguise their ideology.
——————————————————————————–
Part Eight
Obama’s Little Red Schoolhouse
Schools: While Obama’s children enjoy the best education money can buy, he wants to deny inner-city children the education change we can believe in — school choice. He prefers cradle-to-diploma collectivist education.

Part Seven
Reparations By Another Name
Election ’08: Barack Obama says Washington shouldn’t just offer apologies for slavery, but also “deeds.” Don’t worry, he says, he’s not talking about direct reparations. Relieved? Don’t be.
——————————————————————————–
Part Six
Obama Finds An ACORN
Election ’08: The man who includes being a community organizer on his short resume has a long association with a far-left group that would organize our communities into socialist gulags.

Young Obama’s Red Mentor
Election ’08: The mainstream media have finally gotten around to revealing Barack Obama’s early mentor. But they’ve downplayed the mystery man’s communist background.

Obamanomics Flunks The Test
Election ’08: Barack Obama the lawyer-organizer could use a crash course in economics. His economic plan’s assumptions, based on long-discredited Marxist theories, are wildly wrongheaded.

Part Two
Obama’s Global Tax
Election ’08: A plan by Barack Obama to redistribute American wealth on a global level is moving forward in the Senate. It follows Marxist theology — from each according to his ability, to each according to his need.
——————————————————————————–
Part One
Barack Obama’s Stealth Socialism
Election ’08: Before friendly audiences, Barack Obama speaks passionately about something called “economic justice.” He uses the term obliquely, though, speaking in code — socialist code.

You know… It’s too bad that there are only like, 12 of you on this blog… All saying the same thing over and over… The saddest part is the same old story of the “democratic” family that ALL voted for Mclame. Your pathetic attempt to show that not all dems are voting for Obama is just another neocon republicant stunt in a desperate attempt to hoodwink the American public. You know why the Dems’ are voting for Obama? Because they are sick and tired of the exact CRAP that you all are propogating. More red LIES. And you all say the the Dems will say anything to get elected… What a joke. Your rhetoric is tired and so is your party. How about you start professing Mclame’s stances on the ISSUES, as Obama has done? Oh, wait… I know why, his positions are the same failed policies as gwb’s. Have a nice November 4th, neocons… It’s gonna be over quick for you.
