In the Ohio Papers This Morning

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin head to the Buckeye state today, where the latest Ohio Newspaper Poll — a consortium of the state’s eight largest newspapers — has Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., leading 48-46, with a margin of error of +/- 3.3 points.

The Toledo Blade today endorses Obama, saying "We believe the person best equipped by temperament and intellect to firmly grasp the reins of government and guide it safely forward in these uncertain times is Barack Obama…

"Sen. John McCain, by nature, has shown himself to be incapable of providing the American people with an optimistic vision of the future. Firmly rooted in the failed politics and policies of the past, he cannot guide us on a path he does not see."

The Columbus Dispatch, meanwhile, has some probing questions about the integrity of Ohio’s vote:

"Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner made a serious blunder by failing to give county elections boards the names of new voters whose registration records don’t match state and federal data. She should comply with a federal court order to release the information within a week instead of appealing the case to the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati, as she has said she intends to do…

"By trying to prevent county boards of elections from investigating discrepancies in new voter registrations, she is putting partisan considerations ahead of the public interest in fair elections….In addition to discrediting herself, Brunner’s attempt to withhold the data undermines the integrity of the election system."

The McCain/Palin ticket is the first in American history in which both candidates were found to have violated ethics standards before a national election.

If you go to realclearpolitics you can see the average of polls still has Obama leading by 3. A single poll says otherwise.
But there are 6-7 states in play, Obama is leading in them all. He only needs one to win, McCain needs them all.

That’s Obama leading by 3 in OH. Nationally he’s leading 7.7 in the averages.

Palin’s attorneys’ whine and lie that the investigation and report by a Republican majority were biased. Ok. She can learn the hard way. An Alaskan Republican is suing her for using Yahoo instead of the state email system.
She is MAKING her employees use Yahoo, to avoid the FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT requests for info by citizens groups like Native American tribes and the Sierra club. GET THIS: Doing state business on Yahoo, without a SECURE system and without a backup system are both against Alaskan statutes. That puts her in the same crime family as Cheney, who ‘lost’ the Iraq war emails, somehow.
Further, the trooper report included the complaint by the Alaskan legislature that Palin put her employees in an ethical bind by requiring them to help get the trooper fired. They could either follow her lead or fear reprisal. And she is still saying she didnt break a law, although she broke a statute and she is breaking two statutes by using Yahoo and breaking a statute by making her employees break a statute.
The noise put out by the Palin team is like chaff to distract the public from the fact that Palin is of low moral character and does not adhere to clear ethical standards for office holders.

So … WAS Bill Ayers the actual author of Obama’s supposed autobiography? THAT’d explain a lot of inconsistencies between Obama’s supposed “eloquence”, which is never in evidence when he’s without a script — and would also indicate that hyper-”left” corporate players were behind TWO separate funding frenzies to benefit Obama.

Thanks to ABC News for keeping Obama supporters on the line talking.
Look at who and how you have to defend when you’re an Obama supporter. Wooten (seems like a bad apple), Monegan (seems like a pansy that can’t resist ‘pressure’), Toledo Blade (’nuff said), giving Hillary the boot (how’s that feel Gov. Strickland?), Pelosi (oh, so now offshore drilling is doable huh?), Michele Obama (glad you’re finally proud of your country, you do know Ohio is a state in that country, right?), Rezko-Ayers-Wright (what a load) — the list goes on.
Oh yeah, ethics. Glad Wooten never got the chance to actually do harm to Palin’s sister. Now that the national spotlight is on him, he’ll be a good little man-child.
Oh yeah, ethics. Four out of the Keating Five were democrats. Glenn (remember him Ohio) was one of them.

ACORN denied the charges. “For more than a decade, ACORN members have held protests, released reports and advocated for regulations to protect homeowners from predatory lenders,” ACORN president Maude Hurd said in a statement. “If John McCain thinks that community organizers caused the foreclosure crisis, he knows even less about the economy than previously thought.”

To those of you that say Obama is Playing the Race card please read this:
John Weaver, John McCain’s former top strategist, says the Republican candidate is making both a moral and a a tactical mistake by letting abusive hecklers have free rein at rallies.
One of the most striking things we’ve seen in the last few day, we have seen it at the Palin rallies and we saw it at the McCain rally today,” said David Gergen
At her last rally in Florida, Sarah Palin told the audience that Barack Obama “palled around with terrorists” adding,”I am just so fearful that this is not a man who sees America the way you and I see America.”
Christopher Buckley, the son of the late conservative icon William F. Buckley, said Friday he’s decided to back Barack Obama’s White House bid, the first time in his life he will vote Democrat.
This campaign has changed John McCain,” Buckley wrote. “It has made him inauthentic. A once-first class temperament has become irascible and snarly; his positions change, and lack coherence; he makes unrealistic promises, such as balancing the federal budget ‘by the end of my first term.’ Who, really, believes that?
“Then there was the self-dramatizing and feckless suspension of his campaign over the financial crisis,” Buckley added. “His ninth-inning attack ads are mean-spirited and pointless. And finally, not to belabor it, there was the Palin nomination. What on earth can he have been thinking?”
But Buckley made clear he’s not just voting against McCain, praising Obama for his “first-class temperament and first-class intellect.”
Please see the video’s on this link and tell me if this is what your once Great nation has become ?
Does this make you proud ?

What’s happening here is something we have never seen before: centrist Clinton Democrats and Republicans are working together to expose the DNC and Obama campaign’s illegal activities and orchestrated, coordinated fraud. Both parties are working with federal agents to investigate ACORN, which has been funded with upwards of $800,000 in questionable donations from the Obama campaign (in what appears to be the expressed and explicit direction to engineer voter fraud in the general election). The tactics being employed now in the 15 states currently under investigation are the VERY SAME TACTICS we saw on the ground in Iowa, Texas, Colorado, Nebraska, Indiana, and other states working for Hillary Clinton in the primaries.
And all of this ties back to Chicago.
Where the Obama campaign and DNC are now based.

Women must unite against the liberal media biased treatment against Vice President Sarah Palin
1. She is not yet VP. She is just a candidate.
2. Her unethical behavior includes making her employees break statutes. How would you like to be forced to choose between following the law and losing your job?
Her denial that she broke the law is the worst thing about this. The Republican majority on the committee say she broke state ethics statutes. That is not a media issue. IF YOU DID IT< YOU WOULD BE FIRED.
3. Her use of Yahoo to avoid Freedom of Information requests shows she is not a person who is willing to serve the people. And her unethical behavior in the Yahoo case, which has not yet been heard in court, includes making her people use Yahoo too, to avoid scrutiny by the public, including women's rights groups.
If you used a personal email system, without SECURITY REQUIRED BY STATUTE, you would be fired. If you used a personal email system instead of the state system, and your emails were all posted on the internet, YOU WOULD BE FIRED.
She is behaving in an unethical manner and many millions of women are not going to be fooled by calls to vote for a women, just because she is not a man. We have come further than that. There are lots of qualified women and Palin is not one of them. Her biggest qualfication seems to be the willingness to keep on denying, even after the report is clear that she abused her power, and put her employees in a bind by making them break the statutes too. She is making her employees break state law by using Yahoo to avoid oversight by groups of citizens, including women's groups.

I love when they bring the ACORN representatives on these news talk shows.
They are all just like Obama, they never answer a question straightforward.
When asked how all these questionable voter registrations occurred, their stock answer is:
“We are a grassroots organization, non-partisan, and we have registered 1.3 million new voters for this election.”
“The Republicans have always questioned the work of ACORN.”
No answers to any questions that they are asked.

That would be the McCain plan to give $300 billion of taxpayer money to the banks, in the amount of the difference between the value of the original mortgages and the current value of the homes.

PS Hillary Clinton gave Community Services Inc $200 000 for GOTV effort durring the primary.
Barack Obama gave Community Services Inc $800 000 for GOTV efforts durring the primary.
Community Services Inc is NOT ACORN!
Also on ACORN:
ACORN spokesman Brian Kettenring said recent charges against the organization are just partisan attacks intended to undermine the group’s voter registration efforts. “The current strategy seems to be, from the right, to create, to manufacture a so-called crisis of voter fraud . . . and then to solve that crisis through measures that are about constricting the electorate, narrowing the electorate, keeping people from being able to vote,”

There was much merriment in the ACORN audience when Obama told them that they’ll get to shape the agenda before even the inauguration of the fixed-elected candidate if their choice.
Kinda reminded me of the happy B0bots proudly shapping the platform of the democratic party – a slightly more appropriate carrot thrown by Obama.
And then someone asked: What agenda?
And I thought back on the question: what platform?
Could be the one jettisoned wholesale under the excuse of the bailout?
Should the ACORN election thieves look at the reward before engaging in the crime?
It’s probably too late.
For those who missed it: Obama’s agenda is power. Aquisition and consolidation. The Democratic party, ACORN, B0bots shall all find under the bus with the speed of lightning once that’s done.
And much as the karmic prospect of this happening is satisfying, I’d rather they don’t get the chance to find out.

If McCain had a platform with some policies we could discuss them. Such as they are we will just keep with the sleaze.
McCain to come out with his economic agenda aimed at the middle class such as reduction in Capital Gains Tax? The same old, tiered republican agenda. Besides anyone getting any capital gains recently?

To Aussie:
You know absolutely nothing about our American government and way of life. The financial crisis in America started with the housing crisis, i.e., Fannie Mae, which the Democrats in Congress and Bill Clinton, the DEMOCRAT president of our country, approved, voted for and pushed for people who could not afford loans to get loans but the problem was that these people could not afford to pay their monthly mortgage.
Left American politics alone and get your country’s straign. American should absolutely not be the keeper of all the countries of the world. Your financial problems are your own; not ours.

“Do we really believe that the American public is going to feel safe by having both the head of the Congress and the head of the White House from the same party that has had so many challenges with the way they’ve run Washington over the last couple of years?” McCain campaign manager Rick Davis asked on Fox News Sunday. ”

Yes they are. They are one of many subsidiary groups that work under the ACORN umbrella. It was thru them, that the contribution from Obama, was funneled directly to ACORN.
ACORN is in serious need of reformatting. Like our Government…cleaned out, from top to bottom.
ACORN claims they are non partisan, but donate to, and endorse Obama, and the Democratic party, with tax payer dollars. They need to be taken off the dole, if this is the case. Tax dollars need to represent ALL citizens, and if they don’t…say bye bye to the moulah.
Aussie, I know you’re angry over your troops being in Iraq, and Afghanistan…but perhaps this is an issue better taken up with your government? Bush asked, and the Australian government said…we will help. The U.S. I know would, and has helped their allies as well.

Posted by: Joe Reed | October 12, 2008, 12:57 pm 12:57 pm

Aussie, you are correct. The Republicans did have control for a long time, and didn’t do enough to stave off this down fall…but that is their only crime in this. That they didn’t pursue this with more ferocity.
But the bottom line is….Fannie Mae was created back in the 30′s by Franklin Delano Roosevelt.*Democrat.
Carter added to this program in the 70′s by starting these subprime loans…and Clinton added more to it, making it illegal not to give these loans to people with no money, no jobs and no means of paying these loans back. Clinton even went so far as to admit it was because of his policy, and his administration that started this rolling.
For years, several Republicans came forward, to get something done about it, and the Democrats blew them off. The Republicans knew that Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac were Democrats toys…if you will. When the Republicans did come to the floor to warn, they were called racists, and told nothing was wrong, and there weren’t problems.
Barney Franks.*Democrat….in July, when this was broached again, said nothing was wrong…everything was fine.
Franks,Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, are names complicit in this mess. All should stand before Congress and answer for their inaction on this.
Obama is number 2 behind Dodd for having gotten contributions from these 2entities. Franks was, or is having a relationship with one of the execs from tI believe it’s Fannie Mae. That’s conflict of interest. Dodd got a sweetheart loan deal out of his complicity in this mess.
Obama is in thick with ACORN, who started the ball rolling on this mess years ago. They practically stalked, and embarrassed, and muscled bank presidents into giving out these loans.

Why don’t you do yourself a favor and go look up the bills Obama WROTE, supported and got passed into legislation? There’s a challenge for you!
In fact, Obama did NOT write and introduce his OWN bills. He co sponsered a FEW with others, and signed his name to hundreds, but HE did not write or introduce any on his OWN accord. He also has very few votes of record, unless you count 130 present votes. The two bills that do have his name were what are called fluff bills, guaranteed to have support of both houses of congress. So you see Obama chose carefully in order to assure no negative or questionable attention to tarnish his run for presidency. NO RECORD. Avoid the hard choices, just as McCain indicated, he stayed in the cloak room and didn’t even come to the floor for a vote. Obama is a con man. He has put together this false image that is coming unraveled now. Rezko talking, ACORN blowing apart, and his own LIES that are showing the American people his true character.
I’m tired of the koolaid drinkers coming here or anywhere else trying to convince “aware” Americans how wonderful their man is.
He’s stealing this election with smoke and mirrors, and a lot of fraudulent voters.
If that’s fine with you then you deserve what he does to America.

And once again, the racist card is played.
Gawd that argument is so pathetic.
I am not telling anyone who to vote for. Free country, free choice. But the facts, and all the articles coming out now, speak for themselves. This isn’t something that suddenly came up…this is something that’s been brewing for years.
The facts speak for themselves..and I have been to liberal sites, and seen this wicked vitriol for myself. I’ve seen the ebay page of some liberals selling Trig Palin for $40. I’ve seen the pages, and innuendos’ and rumors. Todd Palin and incest with his daughters? The paternity and demands for tests, on Trig, and Sarah? Running her child thru the mud.
Racism goes both ways people. It’s just ashame that I Have not used any vicious racial comments. I only voice my opinion, and because it doesn’t jive with yours, it’s declared racist. I have watched, and I have scolded those who have made racial , or shameful remarks toward Obama, or anyone else, as I don’t agree with that type of commentary toward anyone. ANYONE!!!
Yet I have sat here and watched name calling, and seen comments that are just offensive. Not only toward ones beliefs, but their geography now? That’s a weak argument, and I’m so tired of it.
Where is the condemnation of the comments made toward Mrs. Palin and her family? None. I’ve seen none. I’m sure you sit, and giggle at them, laugh at them, agree with them. That would make you….racist!

Fanie and freddie are not the start of this economic mess the US has unleshed on the word! They are just where it ended!
The simple and quickest way to explain it is this:
Clinton left office with a surplus of $559 billion
Bush the budget deficit for the coming fiscal year will be a record $482 billion, although that’s likely a low-ball estimate.
Your national Debt under Clinton $355 billion
Your national debt now $10.2 trillion
You have for the first time a government that borrows money from China to pay for a war in Iraq!
You have never had a President give tax cuts at a time of war till bush.

Her complete disdain for voters, in delaying this until it’s too late to do anything about it, is palpable. It was all over the news last week.

Posted by: Polly | October 12, 2008, 1:25 pm 1:25 pm

In a carefully hedged statement, Obama said he “respects the decision of the California Supreme Court.” He respects a decision that disregarded the will of the people in California, as expressed by a 2000 referendum that defined marriage as between a man and a woman; he respects a decision that excoriated his own position of support for civil unions and (theoretical) opposition to same-sex marriage; he respects a decision that rejects the sort of political compromise he extols.
FYI…I do NOT oppose gays marriage.
I do however find this portion interesting.
He respects a decision that disregarded the will of the people in California, as expressed by a 2000 referendum
If that kind of thinking, from a potential president doesn’t bother anyone….then it should. The will of the people is in dangerous territory, when a sitting President would oppose it, for the decision of a higher court.
I’m not speaking on the gay marriage issue, I’m speaking any issue. That bothers me, a lot.

Do a search on Phil Gramm and foreclosures. Another search on Gramm and “credit default swaps” (CDS) a major cause of the current economic crisis.
The media rarely covers the CDS because it is complicated and difficult to understand.
Instead the media often blame it on loans to Credit Reinvestment Act, which has existed since the 70s to help minorities and lower income people. NOT True 20 percent of loans

It bothers you because you do not understand the the nature of a Constitution republic, and Obama does.
Constitutional rights are not a matter for “majority rule.” 90% of the people can vote to discriminate against a minority, but it is not going to happen because the Constitution remains the law of the land.

Do selfishness and aristocracy apply to OBAMA when it comes to his half brother in Kenya living on $12.00 a year? Being a democrat, I bet you would be helping your brother. George Obama says he is doing fine, and doesn’t want anyone’s help. And he is proud of Barack’s accomplishments, even though they don’t know each other.
The welfare reform bill under Clinton drastically reduce the number of non-working welfare recipients. Obama has said that while he was hesitant at first, he now agrees with it because he realizes that the earlier system probably did encourage dependency. He has always been emphatic that people need to take responsibility for themselves.

The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, a radical leftist group based in Chicago with very close ties to U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, scripted much of the subprime mortgage scandal.
ACORN has been misusing socialism to correct the perceived problems of capitalism. As with all socialist schemes, it failed miserably. It also has cost the innocent bystanders, the U.S. taxpayers, untold billions.
ACORN “community activists” in the 1980s used very in-your-face intimidation tactics — and loopholes in the 1977 Community Reinvestment Act — to pressure local lenders to make very risky home loans to otherwise unqualified borrowers.
Then in the 1990s, ACORN used lobbyists to pressure Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to take those nearly worthless loans off the hands of the put-upon lenders, reports Stanley Kurtz, senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center.
Amazingly, ACORN eventually was permitted to redraft many of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s loan guidelines.
Through funding and personal-leadership training, Mr. Obama, as a director at Chicago’s Woods Fund, and as board chair of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, shamelessly supported ACORN.
But it’s paying one’s bills promptly and saving for a down payment that leads to homeownership. Following ACORN has led to ruin.
Self-discipline is the sure cure for socialism.

I am far more afraid of Obama and his socialist world view, massive spending and tax increases and who he has associated with all of his adult life.

I agree. I am an independent who is sick and tired of the negative McCain campaing. This man stated that he will run a decent campaign, Where is that Campaing. He lost my vote as an independent. Sorry to say it Sarah Palin is not ready in no way to be a VP.
McCain will loose becouse he is runnig a stupit campaing. What happened to McCain??? Hes judgement in picking Palin is just the most dumm thing to do.

Yes, Jay I am a proud republican. I am not the only republican who is scared about a maybe Sarah Palin president. Look at the polls Jay. Sarah Palin is sinking in the polls, faster than a fast speed rail. Thats a fact. If you feel comfortable voting for Sarah Palin, go ahead you are in the minority. I have spooken to many moderate republicans who will cast votes for Obama, simply becouse of this issue. I know Jay that this is hard for you to swallow but the truth is the truth and you and I cant change that. AGAIN people are not comfortable with Sarah palin nor John McCains health. I am not the only one sayong this my friend. In regards to association lets not go there, I am sure McCain has had his share and Sarah Palin we just dont know because she was not vetted properly.Dear Palin has become the laugh stock of the McCain campaing, she is not a smart cookie. We republicans need to go back to the drawing board, first lest start with a better candidate, a true conservative. Second lets give the VP choice importance again, is Sarah Palin the best we can do??? Third lets come up with a better agenda and new fresh Ideas. We need real reformers, not Sarah Palin who has abused her powers..Is that a true repfrmer, NOT. I will put my country first and glady vote for THE BEST TEAM
OBAMA/BIDEN 2008

Jay I have to agree with tom because of his clearly sexist position on Palin he is definately a republican. But I also agree that the health of a candidate is an issue I take seriously. I would like to see all 4 candidates have a physical and release the results to the voters. McCain does not look to be in good health but neither does Biden. Palin looks to be in good physical health although I question her mental health (because it took her three days to answer what newspapers she reads) and Obama is a smoker so I have to question his health even though he appears to be physically healthy.

IF THERE TRULY IS PROOF THAT OBAMA PUT A FAKE BIRTH CETIFICATE UP ON HIS SITE TO EASE THE QUESTIONS OF PEOPLE ABOUT HIS REAL BIRTH PLACE; AND IT TRULY WAS A FAKE, HE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT. “In addition to these non-paying filers, roughly 15 million individuals and families earned some income in 2004 but not enough to be required to file a tax return. When these non-filers are added to the non-payers, they add up to 57.5 million income-earning households (sometimes referred to as tax units) who paid no income taxes last year. Even 57.5 million is not the actual number of people because one tax return often represents several people. When all of the dependents of these income-producing households are counted, roughly 120 million Americans—40 percent of the U.S. population—are outside of the federal income tax system.”

I went to my doctor Friday. I was picking on him that his taxes would go up if Obama was elected. He didn’t crack a smile and just said I guess I’ll have to raise my rates. The people Obama plans to raise taxes on are our doctors, dentists, lawyers, pharmacists, and other professionals and successful small business owners who will simply raise their rates to cover their increased taxes. Think about it everyone. Who really pays for those tax increases?
He also says he will give a tax cut to 95% of Americans. How can he do that when 40% of Americans pay no taxes in the first place? Taxing upper income people and then sending money to people who didn’t pay anything to begin with is not a tax cut, it is the socialist policy of income redistribution.

A couple of years ago I was driving through Greensboro NC listening to talk radio. The subject was poverty. A caller complained the “the rich just get richer and the poor just get poorer.” The host then mused “do you think it might be because both keep doing the same things that got them there in the first place?” That thought has kind of stuck with me.

There is no single person in the United States of America, who is more gravely compromising the integrity of our election process than Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner. That she has been able to mandate the changes she has implemented by circumventing the state legislature is reprehensible, and the smugness with which she brazenly does so is absolutely sickening.

Do any of you realize that there is no law that says that any individual has to pay federal income taxes. which means the only way anyone will have there taxes raised is if they choose to pay a federal income tax.
And by the Palin did Abuse her Pwoer and let her husband abuse her power. and as for tasing his step-son it was the step-son who asked him to do it so that he could show his cousin how tough he was. You know that a campaign is in serious trouble when it has nothing to say on the issues, has spend time distancing itself from every remark at every event, when there is no coherent message, when the two candidates start to contradict each other, and the campaign begins to attract some unsavoury elements. Sadly, Senator McCain is no longer in charge of his campaign, and his running mate is putting down a marker for 2012..in the last debate Sen. McCain talked about a spending freeze, now he wants the spend a billions on buying back mortgages!!, as for the Alaska probe, 10 Republican and 4 Democrats found that Gov.Palin abused her power, 10 GOP/4 Dems!!..spin that one.

Posted by: S.Orram | October 12, 2008, 4:52 pm 4:52 pm

Sen. Obama SAYS that the top 2% of the nation’s wage earners would see their federal income tax rates increased back to where they were during the Clinton Administration; and the bottom 95% would see either a tax cut or a tax credit.
According to the latest IRS statistics (updated July 2008), in 2006 the total number of federal tax returns reporting a positive Adjusted Gross Income were 135.7 million. 95% of that figure equals 128.9 million returns reporting a positive AGI. And approximately 2.8 million of the returns reported an AGI of at least $250,000.
That tax increase for the top 2% in 2006 would have amounted to only about $65 billion in additional revenue.
If Sen. Obama’s tax plan gives the bottom 95% of workers a $500 tax cut or tax credit that would have amounted to $64.5 billion in 2006. So raising the federal income tax rates on the top 2% would only pay for the tax cuts or tax credits that Sen. Obama would give to the bottom 95%. So where does Sen. Obama come up with the revenue to pay for the $4,000 tax credit that he plans to give for each child in college? Where does he come up with the revenue to pay for preschool for every preschool-aged child? Where does he come up with the revenue to pay for nationalizing our health care system?
The numbers just do not add up. So Sen. Obama will have to raise the federal income tax substantially more for the top 2%, and he may have competely forego the middle class tax cuts or possibly implement tax increases in order to pay for the estimated $500 billion to $1 trillion in new entitlements.

Josh said: as for tasing his step-son it was the step-son who asked him to do it so that he could show his cousin how tough he was.
By that logic, if a child asks an adult, especially a parent, or step parent to shoot them….you shoot them? When do we accept adult responsibility for our actions?
I do not agree with what Todd Palin did, but from reading several stories, this was a problem the Palins, and other family members brought forth, a few years before she became Governor.
As for the drinking. He apparently did.
This is from a CNN news story.
Troopers eventually investigated 13 issues and found four in which Wooten violated policy or broke the law or both:
• Wooten used a Taser on his stepson.
• He illegally shot a moose.
• He drank beer in his patrol car on one occasion.
• He told others his father-in-law would “eat a f’ing lead bullet” if he helped his daughter get an attorney for the divorce.
Beyond the investigation sparked by the family, trooper commanders saw cause to discipline or give written instructions to correct Wooten seven times since he joined the force, according to Grimes’ letter to Wooten.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I wouldnt’ want anyone on our police force here, that was behaving this way.
Again…I don’t agree with what Todd Palin did, but there really is no excuse for Mr. Wootens behavior either, considering the authority position he’s in. He needs to set the example.

Agreed! It will come right back to the middle class. Pluck the money from the rich, give it to the middle class, then take it from the middle class and on down it goes. Same ole same ole. I have no problem with my taxes being used to help those less fortunate. I really don’t…but only if it helps them up. So far, all we see is the same thing. It enables…and government is an enabler. I want these programs used in a more productive way. More enforcement on how this money is given, and more checks, and balances on those recieving it, as it should only go to those who are most in need, and want that help up…not the hand out.
Taxes will come in the form of capital gains, death taxes raised, gas taxes raised. When gas was nearing almost $200 a barrel, Obama wanted to put another 28 cents on the federal gas tax. The drilling ban is gone, but I would bet dollars to donuts, if Obama is elected, and there’s a majority of Dems in Congress….we will see the ban re-inserted, and the price of gas will soar beyond what we’ve ever seen before.
If you think the economy is bad now…just wait.
Notice how the stock market is bad? People are pulling their money now….so they won’t have to pay that 28% capital gains tax. Even Democrats are pulling out.

Senator Obama already has demonstrated that he is a man of the future in the way he has inspired a new generation of voters to become involved in the political process and to actively strive for a better tomorrow.” Amen. Obama’s grandmother is elderly and is no longer capable of travel! Seriously that was a desperate comment!
Palin did abuse her power! We all know that the trooper was a jerk but she had no business bringing in a family freud into Alaskan government business! I read the report! We should be concerned that because Todd Palin is not an elected official he had so much access to the state of Alaska business!
I am sick of Palin getting a free ride! Seriously! She went to 5 colleges in 6 years, she boarded a plane with her water broken at 36 weeks with a child with down syndrome risking delivery on the plane and no infant emergency equipment! Down syndrome babies often have severe cardiac anomalies, her teen daughter is pregnant and she wants her to get married and the girl hasn’t even graduated from highschool! She has no clue about foreign policy and thinks because she can see Russia from Alaska that counts as experience! She left the town of Wisilla in debt, she owes back taxes, she is the queen of earmarks, dosn’t think that a woman should have a abortion even in the case of rape and incest! I question McCain judgement that he would pick her! I respected McCain before this and if he would have picked a strong VP I might have considered voting for him! He has NO clue what to do about the economy and just spoats off ideas without thinking about them! McCain has voted against veterans 28 times and his wife Cindy McCain has the audicity to critizice Obama for no voting 1 time not to fund the troops because Obama wanted a time frame for withdrawal! I could care less that Obama sat on a board with Ayers! Obama was 7 years old when Ayers did what he did! Who cares!

Never served in the US military. He has not claimed he was disabled. Multi-decade affiliation with domestic terrorists and others who hate the USA. Sen. Obama is up to his eyeballs in this subprime flexible mortgage rate crisis and the devaluation of your 401K.
Since the early 1990s ACORN used intimidation and extortion to force the banks to provide subprime flexible mortgages to individuals who could not afford the loans. Well back in the early 1990s, Sen. Obama conducted leadership-training seminars for ACORN’s organizers. Is that just a coincidence, or did Sen. Obama’s training include how to intimidate and extort the lending institutions?
ACORN is being investigated in several states for voter registration fraud. And we now learn that Sen. Obama used to be the executive director of the voter registration arm of the Chicago branch of ACORN. Another coincidence?

I am utterly offended that the rich continue to seek tax breaks – and have the gall to keep asking for more. They have been the entitled for quite some time. Sorry James Danley – I apologize – that comment was for another site. Sorry.
However, I don’t believe ACORN or Obama’s association with them caused our current situation either. ACORN fought for middle and low income loans for people in the 1990′s. This does not mean ALL that benefited from ACORN’s efforts defaulted on their loans. We would have seen many foreclosures long before now. ACORN also fought for education reform in inner cities and yes, political reforms. But to blame Obama and them for this mess – no, I don’t think so.

All Mccain is doing right now is throwing things at the wall to see what sticks. he can’t talk about the issues because his party has been dead wrong on pretty much all of them for the last 8 years. so they offer distractions and make up lies about obama to distract people and get their focus off the economy. its not going to work this time. not in this election. we need change so desperately and 4 more years or god forbid 8 if mccain is reelected of bush policies would leave our country in ruins. anyone who cares about the future of the country would vote for change. obama and joe biden all the way.

Posted by: James Danley | October 13, 2008, 1:36 am 1:36 am

What’s Wrong With America?
My question is this:
If McCain really has experience, what is it exactly? Why hasn’t he consistently been running on his experience to really secure the votes for presidency? Why hasn’t he really explained is “reform” in government that he is proposing? What areas of the government will he actually reform and on what timeline? How much will it cost the taxpayers? Why does he continue to come up with different ideas about how to fix the financial crisis without providing a succinct plan of action along with costs? Why did he say he really didn’t understand economics yet continues to make attempts at solving a problem he doesn’t really understand? If he’s not a racist, why does he allow his running mate Palin to condone racist comments at rallies and on t.v? If he’s such a “maverick” why did he wait until now to really affect change? What change did he really accomplish in the economy, in energy policy, in foreign policies, in saving the middle class money or stimulate the economy?
None of the questions have really been answered. McCain is dangerous. Maverick is code for maniac. Palin is sabotaging McCain’s candidacy so she can run in 2012. She’s looking to grab her base now so she can run against Hillary in 2012.
This is very dangerous. McCain doesn’t care about the country, McCain cares about McCain.

Posted by: Brooklyn Democrat | October 13, 2008, 7:49 am 7:49 am

Actually the race card is playing quite well for Sen. Obama. Not only is any criticism of him being touted as being racist it has become whoever doesn’t vote for Sen. Obama is a racist. THAT plays on white guilt which is huge! There are millions of white Americans who apparently believe that voting for Sen. Obama will somehow cleanse America’s history of slavery and discrimination.
The truth is that a vote for Sen. Obama is a vote FOR Frank Marshall Davis.
A vote for Sen. Obama is a vote FOR Saul Alinsky.
A vote for Sen. Obama is a vote FOR the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr.
A vote for Sen. Obama is a vote FOR Father Michael Pfleger.

There is no better country than the United States of America. In America we are afford many rights and freedoms that other countries do not have. Our country was made great by great men who loved our country and wanted the best for it, not to promote oneself. In concerns me though that our great nation has citizens that refuse to see what is at stake for our country in the coming months. People this is not about taking sides for your favorite football team. This is our lives, our childrens lives, our future, the working democracy of our country. You must look at the big picture. You must look at facts! The facts are, when a vote is cast for Barack Obama, a vote is being cast for all these people connected to Obama. Can you take that chance? If just one tenth of what you hear about him is true, can you chance it? A vote for Obama means that the great country for which we live and all countries are envious of, will be no more! It will be a socialist country like Russia and France! Too many facts, too many controversies attached to this man! Think of what you felt on September 11th. Remember those people who lived amongst us, with all these ties, they lived and worked amongst Americans, pretending they loved our country, but plotting to overturn and kill everything we are about! Do you want to take that chance with Obama. Not enough is known about him, but what is, is that radical, hate-filled people have been in his life at some point. Some of these people helped get him on his feet and helped jump-start his career, and you think he will not owe them anything! America, please wake up! We must not treat this lightly. As a parent, one thing we tell our children, and our parents told us, “watch who you hang with, they will influence you,” or “you are who you surround yourself with!” Ever heard those growing up, have you ever told your child this? Can Obama be different than anyone else in this world, just because you like the way he speaks? He has been influenced! Even when you look at countries and leaders that HATE America, their pick for our President is Barack Obama! Is this not frightening! Look at Hollywood, they have no idea how you struggle in your everyday life to make ends meet and bring up your family. All they want is a society that has no moral code, no accountabilty, so they can continue their corrupt way of life, and you a working individual want to alighn yourselve with such as this? Wake up! Even in the economy, Obama doesn’t want to impower people to do for themselves. He wishes to take from you what you have worked for and give it to those who will not work! He wants bigger government! At this point can you even trust any government? The more we do for ourselves, the more we accomplish for ourselves, the more impowered we are. GIVING things away, only makes us dependent, and keeps us beaten down not to climb out for ourselves. The media will never tell you the truth about Obama, so impower yourselves and please for the good of your children, your life, your freedoms you hold because of our great forefathers, you must research for yourself and find our these facts. And pray about it, that you will be led to make the right decision. It will be the most important election you will ever vote in.

Sorry, you aren’t scaring me by listing a bunch of penniless fringe activists and calling them Obama’s pals. I’m too busy worrying about The Carlyle Group, PNAC, TRW, Freddie Mac and Halliburton, actual powerful groups with a bad agenda that all have direct ties to McCain. BOO!
