‘It’s Not a Criticism of Sarah Palin, it’s a Criticism of John McCain,’ Emanuel Says
John McCain supporter Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Barack Obama supporter Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill., responded this morning to a wave of Republican endorsements for Obama citing Gov. Sarah Palin as a negative for McCain. "It’s not a criticism of Sarah Palin, it’s a criticism of John McCain," Emanuel said explaining the "Palin Effect" in an exclusive "This Week" interview. "[McCain] has had compulsive erratic behavior. Obama has shown the leadership America is working for. Obama has shown the qualities that the American people are looking for."
While Graham said,"The Republican Party is in the toilet for a reason," he stood firm in his defense of Palin.
"Sarah has energized our base better than anybody we could have picked," he said. Graham, who previously backed Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., for vice president said "she is being treated, I think, very poorly and unfairly…her accomplishments are real."
Graham and Emanuel also spoke out on Sen. Joe Biden’s comments earlier in the week claiming Obama will be "tested" within the first six months of his presidency.
"You’re going to be challenged every day for four years, 24/7," Emanuel explained. "And what also Joe Biden said is that Barack Obama has a spine of steel. You’ve seen it through his campaign. You’ve seen it in the way he handled the financial crisis, the way versus what John McCain showed, an impulsive behavior."
But Graham disagreed. "Spine of steel, that’s a new one…. Senator Obama’s domestic and international policies are ill suited to the times… John McCain understands this world far better than Barack Obama understood Iraq, Iran and Russia. Senator Obama would be a very dangerous choice for president of the United States when it comes to foreign policy."

McCain is way too erratic for someone who wants to be in control of the nuclear football. I can only imagine someone in Russia or Iran upsets him, and off McCain fires some nukes to please the hawks in his party and relieve some stress. He is way too erratic: first he picks the least qualifies VP candidate in history, then he suspends his campaign because he can’t do two things at once, and now he’s trying to rewrite history before it has even happened: pretending to be the savior of the middle class when all his economic policies are geared towards the rich. Americans: go read for yourself and don’t buy into the ads and speeches, look and compare the candidates’ plans. Unless you make more than a quarter million dollars a year, you better be voting for Obama. That is unless you are fine with what you have and don’t need a tax cut and want to be so generous and let all the millionaires have all the tax cuts. Wake up America and don’t fall for the fear tactics that led us to re-elect Bush in 2004. Enough is enough. Obama/Biden 08!

“You’ve seen it in the way he handled the financial crisis”…sorry Rahm..you sawed off little runt…but you are WRONG! McCain suspended his campaign to return to DC to help work out a fix..and your Messiah? He went to NC to continue to campaign! McCain has a strong record of reaching across the isle to work with Democrats. On things like campaign finance reform, global warming and immigration. The last thing we need is a government controlled by one party. We saw it with Carter and we had 6 years of it with Bush. We all know the results if both.

sorry to say but Palin’s accomplishments are very few if any. even her gas line is corrupted. bridge to nowhere, she kept the money, Socialist, gives money to all Alaskans every year from oil benefits(spread the wealth), fires people who think different to her, puts friends in power, abused her power in troopergate,$150,000 in RNC funds for clothes, $32,000 foe make up and hair, religion scary, got rid of building permits for personal gain, $17,000 charged to Alaskans for expences on family trips. Sorry not much good to say about her and you wonder why her negatives are going up.

Everyone except for you, McCain, Lindsey Graham, and maybe Joe Lieberman saw that. So please spare me the GOP line that McCain was a hero during that week. He looked like a frantic, erratic, confused, gambling moron. And the polls have shown it since. See you November 5th!

FIRST OF ALL, let’s remind everyone that Stephanopoulos was one of Bill Clinton’s political hacks. Sarah Palin ,in fact, would likely make a better President than either McCain or Obama. She’s the only one in this campaign with executive experience as both a Mayor and Governor. Senators run their mouths, that’s their job. Mayors run cities and Governors run states. VOTE FOR PATRIOTS – VOTE McCAIN-PALIN

The basic facts of this election are these:
McCain hasn’t been able to offer a consistent attractive candidacy, being devoid of any realistic vision of where to go and how to get there which makes sense.
McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin, probably the LEAST qualified Republican woman in the national eye, indicates the “gimmickry” that took the place of substance in his thinking.
McCain’s complete lack of ANY message except fear of “the other guy” offers no reason to vote FOR him (McCain).
Obama has surprised many doubters with his calm and professional attitude, and his control in the face of rediculous and unfair charges from the McCain camp…a trait that will serve him well when dealing with the Iranians, the Russians, the Pakistanis… and the Republicans.
The Obama campaign’s ground game clearly indicates that that there is alot of value to being a community organizer when running for office…his organization simply is the biggest and most effective ever seen.
People are ready to give this guy Obama, who more than any recent Presidential candidate represents the culmination of the AMERICAN DREAM, who clearly is intelligent and thoughtful and deliberative, a chance to lead us.
McCain has already lost.
Sarah Palin has already divorced from McCain and is showing her unpricipled and unbridled ambition to become the Republican party leader and candidate in 2012.
On November 5th, President-elect Obama will begin the arduous task of putting the Executive Branch of the US Government back together from the pieces left over from 8 years of the hateful and disreputable reign of Bush/ Cheyney.
Get used to it, get involved and lend a hand…we are going to all need it!

Emanuel to speak, if Graham wasn’t interupting him, YOU were! Some of us would like to hear what they have to say! Isn’t that why you brought them on the show in the first place??? Maybe not. I really liked the Republican sound bite of the week: that Obama is trying to redistribute wealth!
The real re-distribution of wealth already happened. The Republican administration of GW Bush has destroyed the middle class, executive pay went ballistic and money “investors” made all the money while more people fell into poverty than at any other time in our recent history. How anyone in their right mind can say the Democrats are responsible for this blows my mind.
To be fair, I blame Congress. The Chief Executive can’t get away with it without their votes. Replace them Nov 4th!

The entire Republican campaign has been undisciplined, poor organized, run and managed.
Sarah Palin is a symptom and a serious flaw that eroded support.
The campaign is a reflection of the personality of Senator Mc Cain and the campaign has not instilled confidence in the voters regarding his ability to manage and lead the Country.

Independents are by and large independent because they don’t buy into the typical party line but they do tend to listen to both sides. Barack Obama stated on Bill O’Reilly that the surge “has succeeded beyond our wildest dreams”. For Graham to refuse to acknowledge Obama’s admission, and in fact, to flatly state otherwise does a discredit to the Republican message. It is disingenous and makes everything in their message this campaign season suspect. McCain is the benefactor of that suspicion. McCain has tried to win this election on tactics when the state of our nation, particularly our economy, required a coherent strategy.
John McCain has behaved erratically and he is off-message. When he should have been talking about a vision for this country, he was talking about experience. When he should have been talking about the economy, he was talking about Bill Ayers. When he should have been talking about a united team, he was defending the incoherent utterances of Sarah Palin. No vision, no clear economic message, a poor choice for VP, a splintered and often disingenous Republic machine and… NO MCCAIN!

I have prayed about it. I have made a decision.
My choice is Barack Obama. He will get my vote tomorrow for President.

No Sharon, you wake up! Number one, the Republicans have been in control for 8 YEARS honey so get your facts straight! They have caused all these problems with the economy, not the democrats. Also the brainwashing is coming from the McCain camp who wants to scare people in not electing a man of color point blank. Their hate mongering and riot-like rallys are downright shameful and anyone in their right mind who is really looking at the situation with unbiased eyes could see that. McCain is desperate and will use any lie or tactic he can to win.
Now on to Palin who is such a big joke. She has zero experience. And in the incident that Palin would have to step in for whatever reason, we would all be in a trouble! Women’s rights for one would be taken away…I can’t imagine what else she would try to take away, she is scary…it always amazes me when women support McCain and especially Palin.
Finally Obama has handled himself with dignity and grace throughout this campaign. He has done very little mud slinging and has risen above the fray. He is such a great man with a steady hand and sound mind (not the erratic behavior of his opponent). I can’t wait until he wins!
Obama/Biden 08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s Palin’s far rightwing ideas that turn off voters. They are tired of the rightwing and their failed ideas.
They are also sick of the polarizing rhetoric that Palin brings.
They could overlook her being unqualified if she proved she was highly intelligent instead of just average intelligence. But, along with this handicap her far right ideas and rhetoric are totally out of the mainstream and where the country is now.
They tried far right and look at the country and the failures it brung.
She is just too out of step with the country as a whole.
Knowing this, McCain showed he was too impulsive and erratic to trust as president.
The country also tried the cowboy, shoot em up hair trigger and it failed, too.
As one 80 yr old man said on Washington Journal: McCain looks like the type that shoots from the hip. I perfer someone who aims before he shoots.

The Katie Couric interview exposed the real Sara Palin. However, this goes to the judgment of McCain and his lack of vetting her. True she has energized his base, however, most Americans saw a person who lacked the intellectual substance and knowledge to be President. She is excellent at attacking her opponents, and that is how she got to the position of Gov. in Alaska. However, what is coming to light is that her accomplishments aren’t what she has touted, and more and more negatives are coming out. As a result Alaskans are starting to take a closer look at her, and her own home state newspaper did not endorse her. That says a lot, and to the newspaper’s credit, they put country first.

Lindsey Graham has achieved nothing in the Senate.
“The last thing we need is one power”, kind of like we have had with the Republicans?
Do not “poor Sarah” me. She is a sick puppy with delusions of grandeur and an empty head and a filthy mouth. She did it to herself for her blind, raw ambition. It is also McCain’s responsibility for being so weak to kow tow to his campaign manager Schmidt and Rick Davis. They should have known better but, they were not about government at a critical time. They were about seizing and maintaining power with “personalities” for campaign images.

Our Nation is being manipulated by greed.
Ecclesiastes 5:10
Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless.
Love of Money
If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.
But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
1 Timothy 6:3-10

My Friends, I’m truly sorry for what I have become. The maverick I was when I ran in 2000 would denounce my campaign tactics in 2008.
You have to understand that my unraveling and incoherent campaign is largely not my fault, but the fault of Republican operatives formerly of the Bush camp.
They made me pick Palin when I wanted to pick Joe (Lieberman) or Tom (Ridge). They told me to embrace the negative smears on my opponent that I once aggressively denounced when they were instigated against me.
I apologize for what I let them do. It wasn’t completely me. They told me what to do and I went with it.
I do have to say the McCain of 2000 would cast a vote for Barack Obama, not the sorry Bush clone of McCain 2008. Thank you my friends.

As a female Independent from Ohio who has voted for both Dem and Rep presidents, I have been excited about this election from the onset, with its array of interesting possibilities.I have been attentive, open-minded and riveted throughout. After 21 months of foreplay, I have cast my ballot, mailed it and I am ready for the big Obama. Although I have concerns about one-party domination and checks and balances, I have not felt this much hope and anticipation for bettering our country since Clinton’s first run.

Actually Harding, it’s YOU’RE not YOUR’E. Perhaps a typo on your part.
Ron, you’re just an idiot.
Unless something unforeseen happens this election is over. Many Republicans (the smart ones) have already jumped ship and are quietly slipping into the shadows.
The Republicans, McCain and Palin have made themselves look amateurish in their run up to the election. I’ve seen fifth and sixth graders do a better job running for Student Body President. Some of those Student Body Presidents are so much smarter than the guy in the WH now. He certainly hasn’t helped the Republican cause over the past twenty odd months. Maybe if he hurries, he can start another unfounded war before Tuesday to help McCain. I doubt that that will even help.
Obama has remained calm and collected throughout this entire process and I’d rather have him running this country than another warmonger. We’re the United States and if you don’t do what we tell you we’ll just invade your country and start a war mentality needs to be eradicated.
Out with the old and keep out!

I’ve been fighting these Repugnicans all my life. Finally, we have a chance for an actual, real, democratic President. Clinton never did it for me. I did not hate his presidency, I just saw all the ways he pandered to the corporations. And then he bombed Bosnia with Uranium and that was it for the Clintons as far as I was concerned. I was in Vietnam and came away from there a complete pacifist. I’ve been fighting against Fascism ever since I get out of ‘nam. So many years of struggle. Finally a light at the end of the tunnel! I have no illusions about Obama being our savior or anything, but he has shown that he has more intelligence and stronger character than any dem we have had get this far since John Kennedy. I am hoping that I will be feeling ecstatic by tomorrow. And I will, especially if we take the Senate and House too!
