McCain Camp Refuses to Criticize Brother Who Penned Angry E-Mail

ABC News’ Ron Claiborne, David Wright and Jennifer Parker report: A McCain spokesman refused to criticize Sen. John McCain’s brother who penned an angry e-mail this week imploring the campaign to "let John McCain be John McCain."

McCain’s little brother, Joe McCain, a former newspaper reporter, fired off an angry email to the McCain campaign Monday night, in an apparent attempt to save his brother’s White House bid.

"Let John McCain be John McCain a Great Warrior and Leader of Men and Women," Joe McCain wrote in an email obtained by the Baltimore Sun. "Make ads that show John not as crank and curmudgeon but as a great leader for his time, a man who always, always fights for the average American as best he can, to even the ground and to make more things possible for all."

McCain’s brother wrote the email as polls emerged showing Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama widening his lead over McCain

When asked about the email, McCain campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds  refused to criticize McCain’s  little brother.

"Joe McCain is someone who’s been around the campaign a lot, working really hard. He does have a good point," Bounds told ABC News. "There’s no better advocate for John McCain than John McCain. Everyone with the campaign understands that. He’s entitled to his own opinion. I’m not going to say anything negative about him."

Kind of silly reporting – making a point of noting how the campaign staffer refuses to criticize the candidate’s brother.
What did you expect?

Zero-bama abandoned his brother in Kenya at $1 per month. What you expect is that he will abandon anyone, anything for his personal gains.

Joe McCain is right. All this negative campaigning doesn’t help. McCain needed to concentrate on how he would help get the economy back in line. He has some good ideas and should have shared them rather than going negative.
I would guess this negativty was Palin’s idea. That is her M.O.

dO…if you could read( which I guess you cannot) you would have seen the interview with Obama’s half brother.
He said he lives in a nice middle class neighborhood and is happy. His brother offered to bring him to the U.S. or give him financial help, but her refused.

McCain let the neo-cons run his campaign into the ground. He’s basically a likeable guy who was the best chance the Republicans had this year. Then the right wing of the party forced him into the Palin pick. He would have had a better chance with Joe Lieberman or even Tom Ridge as a running mate.

oh the media bias from ABC! from the title, you would think Joe must have written some racist email, deserving but getting no criticizm from John McCain!
it is true, Sen. John McCain is the product of John McCain, and Sen. Barack Obama is the product of David Axelrod.

The Obama campaign is the one no telling the truth about the opponents or even his background. Palin is squeaky clean compared to Obama and the slime, sleaze and scum he has kept around him for years and is still holding on to them for support. His ACORN relationship should make an intelligent voter race toward another candidate. But the weak minded are following this man like lemmings. They are waiting for a socialist handout.
His CHANGE IS SOCIALISM.

Mary: “His CHANGE IS SOCIALISM.”
Actually the Republican president just ordered the partial nationalization of banks, after previously advocating a $700 billion purchase of mortgage backed securities – and both the Republican and Democratic nominees for president supported the measure.
I’d say the socialism charge is probably not the best way you guys have to criticize Obama at the moment.

Socialism is the direction Obama wants to take this county. If the media were doing its job properly and fairly they would be reporting the truth and nothing but the whole truth. For some reason they are determined to have a democrat in office, regardless of his morals and ethics. I guess the media is just as corrupt as the democratic Congress. Wonder how much they pocketed before our economy went south.

Vanessa: “McCain’s problem is not his campiagn. It’s his policies and the R in front of his name.”
I think you have a point, but I also think McCain has run a terrible campaign. Obama now looks like the less risky choice, given McCain’s erratic performances during the Russia-Georgia thing and this economic crisis.
And that’s not just me. Polling says Obama is more trusted in a crisis.

SOCIALISM!
This country is being brought to socialism by way of welfare and social programs? Not!
CORPORATE WELFARE is rampant and causing this. Our tax dollars are paying for CORPORATE WELFARE. Do your research or ask someone in corporate America about “padded expense accounts”.
Many house payments, private schools, cocaine habits, car payments, country club dues, abortions, etc. are being paid for via corporate expense accounts. But this info will probably be denied and never surface because it is hush hush.
Some of the expense fililngs are legitimate, the other half are fraudulent. Fraud that is a tax-write off. American taxpayers pay for. Has been done for years, thus the bubble has burst. Sadly,however,
it not going to change.
Blaming it on the social programs is like comparing to a bank robbery vs embellzling which accounts for 1000 times more losses than a bank robbery. Then the accused embellzeler is asked to quietly resign and goes to another organization and repeats the same fraud.
Social programs are only a drop in the bucket compared to CORPORATE FRAUD.
Wake up people!
Unfortunately this fraud will go on and America will print themselves into a paper money hole.
If someone out there diagrees do your research.
Remember AIG just recently. There a trillion more examples of “AIGs” that have been going on for decades.
AND WE WONDER WHY WE ARE IN THIS MESS!

What leader? If he’s such a great leader why didn’t he lead his own campaign in a fashion that is consistent with his real beliefs? Has he not been in charge of his own campaign so far? And if not, why not? Ask his brother who is responsible for the mess of the McCain if it is not John McCain himself.
Sounds like John is having to deal with the same basic flaw that has from day one in his life haunted him: he is really not very good at what he does. He failed in College. He was at best a mediocre Navy Officer and he has been an inconsistent Senator and run a horrible campaign. The only thing he has ever done well is be a prisoner. Go figure.

power of millions of voices calling for change.
We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics who will
only grow louder and more dissonant in the weeks to come. We’ve been
asked to pause for a reality check. We’ve been warned against
offering the people of this nation false hope.
But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been
anything false about hope. For when we have faced down impossible
odds; when we’ve been told that we’re not ready, or that we shouldn’t

Republicans are suffering from the abuser mentality. They have been abused by there on party refuse to believe that it happened and place the blame anywhere but were it belongs, and continue to want more abuse.G.W.Bush spent 1 billion a week on a war of mass destruction only to find none then continued to spend this money without a plan, every week it was one situation then another. Gulable Americans who don;t read or research, just listening to propaganda because they have to have someone to hate. Place the blame on your self for not opening up your own eyes.

McCain is the old warrior, but not the old general. He has steered an erratic course, and now has to live up to “getting Obama’s ….” Well, not much chance of that based on the previous rounds fought. Relationships with radical thinking individuals is fair game, and the media will never tell us about them.
The voters have a right to know about Ayers and the rest of Obama’s relationships, and with a press unwilling to do honest in depth looks, he will slide on through.
What all the associations and friendships Obama has had do, is paint a picture of the values and beliefs that Obama may hold, since he won’t tell us himself. These are long term friendships with individuals holding radical views, some who have been convicted of illegal deeds, and who have supported Obama financially. How can Obama simply dismiss these people as being insignificant to his life and to who he is today.
So now, with McCain again being erratic, the campaign backs off from a legitimate issue because of opinions and spin from Obama supporters, including the MSM.
What is left? Well I suppose we can look at the history of what happens when one party has full control of government, something the writers of the Constitution tried to prevent. We can look at the reasoning of giving even more power to the Democartic Party who has failed to deliever on the mandate given two years ago and who now has the an approval rating worse than Bush.
Or I suppose we can celebrate the new Socialist America where dissent is suppressed, and opposing views are all racist. Where business is nationalized, and government takes on the role of your mother, providing all that you need (at least that is what the Democrats will tell you).
This is not the America of my dreams or of my forefathers, is it yours ?

enough of the socialism junk. Our economy is in trouble. The first duty of any government is to ensure the well-being of its citizens. That is what our government is trying to accomplish. It is a big fix and will take a while, probably with a few missteps along the way. But it must be done. The average citizen has no obligation to suffer from the financial management mistakes of wealthy few. The Democratic leadership pushing the bailout is doing what a government should do for its people, and is nothing like a tax and spend party. It is trying te remedy the stupendous tax and spend waste of the last eight years.

It appears that the Republican Party uses terms like conservative, socialism,left wing and right wing without any understand.
It appears to be a lot of hated in the US – The US is a divide country with a lot of prejudice and hate – that is really unfortunate -
Obama is right for many reason when he declares that he is a change agent – One can only wish that the Republican tone they message of hate off.

Sen. McCain has been running for President for 10 years. You would think in all that time he would have figured out that the American People needed a President who is all about them, new ideas, innovation, jobs, great economy and not constant rhetoric and negative attacks. Since that’s how the last elections were successful, it’s no wonder that he tried again.
All we have heard for the past 18 months is I & me, and POW. Sen. McCain has yet to address the issues rather he and his campaign representatives every single time Media outlets ask them a question they begin the response with “Sen. Obama”
Now 18 months later he comes up a day late and a dollar short.
To date the McCain campaitn nor Sen. McCain have provided any responses to the media or our questions on the issues while they continue to play the personality & lipstick on a pig game.
Selecting Palin was not putting country first. Palin proved her intelligence when she was “unleashed, unscripted, un-teleprompted and responded to targeted media interviews and the campaign refused to unleash her to participate in full media activities just like every candidate running for VP has since our country’s history began.
The McCain campaign has played hid Palin letting us know they had absolutely no confidence in her to participate in media interviews. Talk about sexist, the campaign have been coddling her not because she’s a woman but because they are well aware that she was not the right choice.
Many conservatives have now come out and questioned Sen. McCain for Palin’s selection and continuing to play the “WOW FACTOR” with his campaign but the American people are smart and we will not play with our livelihood and our lives with someone who jumps all over the map in an effort to get constant attention. Sen. McCain always feels that he has to shake something up or get media attention, and that’s not presidential. It’s irresponsible.
Sen. McCain’s senate and military service by all accounts have one thing in common his temper. He jumped the gun on Georgia, Russia and Iran, with refusal to first reach for Diplomacy. Even his conservative critics have questioned his judgement along with 6 former Sec. of State on CNN.
American needs a calm steady smart, (Sen. McCain was ranked 894 our of 899 Students in his class at Annapolis), and Smart President.
The campaigns of fear, abortion, gay marriage, destroying a Veteran with awfully negative ads, Max Cleland who lost his legs and Arms fighting for our country and was targarted successfully by the GOP in the last election all in the name of winning and Tax and Spend are hopefully over and the American people have moved on. Our economy is a reflection of buying this type of smear politics. Our children and future geneerations will pay for years for our BAD choices.
Those tactics, regardless of what videos or people show up between now and election day will not work. Because if it can be done now it could have been done long ago.
America is moving into the 21st century and away from the past into the future with new ideas, innovation, new strageties, science and other key areas that will move our country postitively forward and look out for ALL Americans.
We have learned how destructive politics errodes our country while sitting in the wings emploded a horrific Recession that was waiting in the wings all because we did not do our homework, check the facts and hold Presidental candidates accountable for their voting records in Washington.

Neocons are living proof that god did NOT bless America. Hell is sure going to be one crowded hip hop.
Obama is truly the only one who can save America and hopefully bring us back from the brink of no-return. What a waste the last 8 years have been and these neocons can’t hear the laughter from Bush and all of his cronies. Bush has raped America of its values and morales, turned us against each other by declaring his kind of patriotism the only true American.
Now the nuts have pushed McCain onto us expecting us to buy this same old crap. He is as bigoted and hateful as the Bush’s are. If you consider yourself a true American you will then vote the republicans out of office this Novemenber.
I know that Obama has some short comings but at least he can recognize them while McCain thinks that this bimbo that he has on the ticket is going to help him win the election.
I can’t wait to here President Obama’s swearing in ceremony, with his hand on the Bible, his wife and kids by his side, and the neocons finally crawing back into the sewage they came from.
Obama will be our man in the oval office come January.

The plan for money came from the begging of G.W.Bush, the republicans that support this ticket will not study or read they just hate. this was a bipartism effort to revive the economy from the billions of dollars spent in this war that we could not handle. take the blinders off and read, read and read some more study don’t take antone word become self educated.

Give more money to the voters, $600 already to tank the market by 50%, now that Zero-bama is pushing, via his House Mommy and Daddy, for another giveaway, and then, he has already promised you $1000 after you vote for him.
If the congressional leaders had not put all their eggs on Zero-bama, and if had put their country first and supported Hillary Clinton’s proposal one year ago, to use that $300 billion, i.e., $600 checks to some of you, to target banking and mortgaging, it might, just might have saved the downslide of the market.
You will never know, unfortunately.

Isn´t it obvious that the Obama/Biden ticket is best for this country? Seriously…McCain´s first big decision for the presidency is to select Palin as his VP? And if you think Obama is taking the country towards socialism, you´d better have a think about what Bush has done with your tax dollars–taken the country into the bogus Iraq war that will cost trillions by the time it´s over (including interest costs), and now the financial bailout as a result of deregulation costing taxpayers yet another trillion. And what do we have to show for all that money spent? At least Obama has plans to spend tax revenue on something good for the country, like infrastructure rebuilding, healthcare, and education. No McSame…. Obama-Biden ´08.

The GOP did not let John McCain be John McCain. They wanted someone who their so called “base” was comfortable with and would deliver their wants and needs.
This has isolated the libertarian branch on the GOP and broads swaths of ndepdents and moderates. His nomination should have told the GOP leadership, people are tired of the Rove/Cheney methods of doing business.

There were any number of viable Republican women he could have chosen as a running mate…the fact that he didn’t speaks volumes about him.
There are a select number of viable Republican minority men he could have chosen as a running mate. The fact that he didn’t speaks volumes about him.
He could have chosen to stay with and love the patriotic wife who waited for him to be released from a prison camp. The fact that he didn’t speaks volumes about him.

It’s a matter of judgment on the welfare and the state of the economy.
Hillary Clinton had it right ONE YEAR ago when the DOW was at > 14000.

We can stop sending our children to schools with corridors of shame
and start putting them on a pathway to success. We can stop talking
about how great teachers are and start rewarding them for their
greatness. We can do this with our new majority.
We can harness the ingenuity of farmers and scientists; citizens and
entrepreneurs to free this nation from the tyranny of oil and save our
planet from a point of no return.
And when I am President, we will end this war in Iraq and bring our
troops home; we will finish the job against al Qaeda in Afghanistan;
we will care for our veterans; we will restore our moral standing in
the world; and we will never use 9/11 as a way to scare up votes,
because it is not a tactic to win an election, it is a challenge that
should unite America and the world against the common threats of the
twenty-first century: terrorism and nuclear weapons; climate change
and poverty; genocide and disease.

Yes we can.
It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the
destiny of a nation.
Yes we can.
It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail
toward freedom through the darkest of nights.
Yes we can.
It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and
pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness.
Yes we can.
It was the call of workers who organized; women who reached for the
ballot; a President who chose the moon as our new frontier; and a King who took us to the mountaintop and pointed the way to the Promised Land.
Yes we can to justice and equality. Yes we can to opportunity and
prosperity. Yes we can heal this nation. Yes we can repair this
world. Yes we can.
And so tomorrow, as we take this campaign South and West; as we learn
that the struggles of the textile worker in Spartanburg are not so
different than the plight of the dishwasher in Las Vegas; that the
hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling school in Dillon are
the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of LA; we
will remember that there is something happening in America; that we
are not as divided as our politics suggests; that we are one people;
we are one nation; and together, we will begin the next great chapter
in America’s story with three words that will ring from coast to

** Yeah anyone who disagrees with the highly moral conservative party is usually communist or socialist or radical or anything to make people not like you. Thats all they do to win make people not like people instead of stating their policies. They can’t state their policies in 2008 because they know its the same. And since Obama’s already reminded us a million times, we can’t be fooled by McLame promising to change. HE STILL HASN’T SAID SPECIFICALLY HOW HE WOULD BE DIFFERENT THAT BUSH. Until he does that, he will not win. He need to at least change the crappy tax code a bit. He can tweak it. But he can’t because the highly moral conservative party won’t allow him to. Four years ago he didn’t even want to be in the conservative party because he could never get nominated by his party. Isn’t it sad John McCain lost in the primaries twice to Bush? The Republican party THOUGHT BUSH WAS BETTER THAN MCCAIN. Why should we think any better? He had to choose ding bat Sarah Palin to “energize the base!?” What??????

Absolutely! Now we are talking some real issues..
So, we have McCain, who stated: “I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues. I still need to be educated.”, and he is getting much of that education from Phil Gramm, who gave us the enron loophole and can be thanked for our current fuel prices.
And Obama? Supported and advised by Warren Buffet, now backed by former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker,
and another former Federal Reserve Chairman Greenspan told Bloomberg News he was “not in favor of financing tax cuts with borrowed money” when asked if the United States could afford big tax cuts such as those proposed by Republican John McCain.

bennie,
First, congrats on getting d0 right.
Zero-bama pushed for it, although in his characteristic behavior of taking no real responsibilities, failed to do his day job to take a stand. The House and Senate Majority leaders wanted to support Zero-bama, so they only allowed the $600 check bill to be voted on, which happens to also be supported by Bush and the Republicans.
Clinton wanted to use that $300 billion to target banking and mortgage financial sectors, realizing the real problem of the economy. Yet congressional leaders brushed that idea aside, and Zero-bama of course has no idea about the economy except knowing how to buy votes. Don’t tell me the two majority leaders were all neutral in the primaries.
You will never know if Hillary Clinton’s idea would have worked for the economy. However, you do know 100% sure that what Zero-bama supported and pushed in money giveaways has failed, and has crashed the stockmarket and your retirement accounts by 50%.
This is a judgment problem on the economy.

Obama is a jackass, as so is every close minded, liberal fool that backs him. Then again, most of them don’t have jobs, or if they do, they are minimum wage jobs, so naturally they would support someone like Obama who wants to distribute the income from those who do work and bust their ass, to those who don’t.

Posted by: matt | October 15, 2008, 5:07 pm 5:07 pm

You can be the new majority who can lead this nation out of a long
political darkness – Democrats, Independents and Republicans who are
tired of the division and distraction that has clouded Washington; who
know that we can disagree without being disagreeable; who understand
that if we mobilize our voices to challenge the money and influence
that’s stood in our way and challenge ourselves to reach for something
better, there’s no problem we can’t solve – no destiny we cannot
fulfill.
Our new American majority can end the outrage of unaffordable,
unavailable health care in our time. We can bring doctors and
patients; workers and businesses, Democrats and Republicans together;
and we can tell the drug and insurance industry that while they’ll get
a seat at the table, they don’t get to buy every chair. Not this
time. Not now.
Our new majority can end the tax breaks for corporations that ship our
jobs overseas and put a middle-class tax cut into the pockets of the
working Americans who deserve it.

Joe McCain is a fool any way you look at it, so this doesn’t surprise me. “Speaking at an event in Loudoun County in support of his brother, Joe McCain called two Democratic-leaning areas in Northern Virginia “communist country,” according to a report on The Washington Post’s Web site.” They start to lose, and then they go negative calling good American citizens Communists. Is this Joe McCain or Joe McCarthy!?!?!

For those of you who insist that Obama is a muslim and other things. Read below. Check the facts!!
Mark Brown – chicago sun times.
How else to explain the circumstances that led to local nut case Andy Martin being treated recently as a legitimate journalist on Fox News by Sean Hannity, who put Martin on the air to advance his theories that Obama is a radical planning to overthrow the U.S. government.
Martin is the guy who claims to have been the first to advance the specious claim that Obama was secretly a Muslim, and others have fed his ego by also giving him credit.
For those of us who remember when Andy Martin was still Anthony Robert Martin-Trigona, Martin’s ravings aren’t worth the time it takes to knock them down.
The first time I crossed paths with Martin-Trigona was way back in 1978, when he was a flamboyant young candidate for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate from Illinois, and I was an intern in the Sun-Times’ Springfield Bureau.
As I recall, I covered a Martin-Trigona press conference in which he announced he was putting a million dollars of his own money into the campaign. Martin-Trigona was portraying himself as a wealthy lawyer and trying to make himself appear to be a serious candidate.
Delusions of grandeur
It was all bull, but that was before everyone in Illinois politics came to realize that Martin-Trigona was a certifiable lunatic with the papers to prove it. The Illinois Supreme Court five years earlier had blocked his admission to the bar, citing a Selective Service psychiatric report that indicated he had a “moderately-severe character defect manifested by well documented ideation with a paranoid flavor and grandiose character.”
I think that means he suffers from delusions of grandeur.
Though he’s brilliant in his own way, the description fits Martin perfectly. He has run for president himself from both major parties and run for the U.S. Senate in at least three different states. When he resurfaced in Chicago in 2004 as a Senate candidate, he was telling everyone he had been conducting his own search for Saddam

I agree with Joe McCain – at this point John McCain looks nothing like he did back in his first presidential bid. He seems nothing like the man portrayed in his books. It is a shame that all politicians are handled by their advisors so much that we really never get to see who they truly are – we have to rely on vetting, reports from family and friends, and even enemies to get to the “real” candidate. I’m pretty sure I’d like the real McCain a LOT better than the awkward old attack dog who cannot discuss the issues that are important to Americans.

Posted by: allie | October 15, 2008, 5:20 pm 5:20 pm

For most of this campaign, we were far behind, and
we always knew our climb would be steep.
But in record numbers, you came out and spoke up for change. And with
your voices and your votes, you made it clear that at this moment – in
this election – there is something happening in America.
There is something happening when men and women in Des Moines and
Davenport; in Lebanon and Concord come out in the snows of January to
wait in lines that stretch block after block because they believe in
what this country can be.
There is something happening when Americans who are young in age and
in spirit – who have never before participated in politics – turn out
in numbers we’ve never seen because they know in their hearts that
this time must be different.
And some people don’t want change so they hate.

This whole sad story about Joe McCain’s angry email reminds me of the excuse that some Bush fans often use to try to clear Bush of his responsibility for his disastrous policies: that Bush is a fine president who happens to be surrounded by bad advisers. The problem with this kind of excuse is, of course, that Bush can’t be a fine president if he makes poor judgment on his choice of advisers and can’t tell good advice from bad advice.
Either John McCain is running the campaign in the way he has wanted or he can’t control his campaign. If the former is true, he needs to take responsibility for the poorly-run campaign. If the latter is true, who would want someone who can’t even control his campaign to run the country?

– at this point John McCain looks nothing like he did back in his first presidential bid –
And he isn’t.. for example, he supported a tax plan similar to Obama in 2000, and was critical to Bushs, which is the one he is pushing this election:
JIM LEHRER: There was a suggestion today from some of Governor Bush’s supporters that maybe you’re not really a true blue Republican, that some of the things you support like campaign finance reform and your opposition to tax cuts are more like Gore and Bradley and Clinton and Democrats than Republican.
SEN. JOHN McCAIN: Well, I’m much more like Ronald Reagan, actually, than the present hierarchy of our party. I’m for tax cuts, but I’m for working Americans. Governor Bush wants to give 38 percent of his tax cuts to the wealthiest 1 percent. I want to give it to working families.

Why is everyone still talking about trivial stuff like Obama’s brother in a hut when there are far more important issues boiling on the back burner about Obama. There has been a Federal law suit filed in Pennsylvania challengeing Obama status as a natural born citizen, and it looks like he is truly hiding something because he has had since August 21st to bring his certified birth certificate to the court to prove he is a natural born citizen of the U.S.A. and has not done so yet. Instead of producing his B/C his lawyers filed motions to dismiss the case, and at this time eveyone is waiting for Judge Surrick to rule. Not only has this suit been filed but yesterday a citizen in Washington state filed another lawsuit asking the secretary of state to force him to prove citizenship,and today another citizen in Utah filed another one. So, if anyone would like to take a look at something really, really important you can go to http://www.americasright.com. If it is found that Obama is truly a Kenyan national it would be devastating and diasatrous for the Senator and the country.

Subject: Revelations Chapt This will make you re-think: A Trivia question in Sunday School:
How long is the beast allowed to have authority in Revelations?
Revelations Chapter 13 tells us it is 42 months, and you know what that is.
Almost a four-year term of a Presidency.
All I can say is “Lord, Have mercy on us!”
According to The Book of Revelations the anti-Christ is: The anti-Christ will
be a man, in his 40′s, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with
persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal….the prophecy says
that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace,
and when he is in power, will destroy everything..
Do we recognize this description??
I STRONGLY URGE each one of you to post this as many times as
you can! Each opportunity that you have to send it to a friend or media outlet..do it!
I refuse to take a chance on this unknown candidate who came out of nowhere.
From: Dr. John Tisdale
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As I was listening to a news program last night, I watched in horror as Barack Obama made the statement with pride. . .”we are no longer a Christian nation; we are now a nation of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, . . .” As with so many other statements I’ve heard him (and his wife) make, I never thought I’d see the day that I’d hear something like that from a presidential candidate in this nation. To think our forefathers fought and died for the right for our nation to be a Christian nation–and to have this man say with pride that we are no longer that. How far this nation has come from what our founding fathers intended it to be.
I hope that each of you will do what I’m doing now–send your concerns, written simply and sincerely, to the Christians on your email list. With God’s help, and He is still in control of this nation and all else, we can show this man and the world in November that we are, indeed, still a Christian nation!
Posted by: Jordan | October 15, 2008, 5:44 pm 5:44 pm
He’s actually right. The way this campaign is being run it doesn’t truly reflect McCain or Palin – the campaign should just let them both be themselves for the next three weeks.
I almost think the Republicans are purposely trying to throw this election. The conservative right was never behind McCain and doesn’t want to see him elected plus they believe Obama will be a tax-and-spend, 1-term president giving conservatives a good shot at retaking the White House in 4 years – that’s their thinking not mine.
Personally, I like McCain’s approach to education and his economic proposals as they’re not as uber-liberal as Obama’s but not as conservative as the far right – sort of some place in between. But I hate the way the campaign has been run. The John McCain in this election is not the same John McCain who won in the primaries.
If someone is interested in voting, they are free to register to vote. Why do groups like Acorn have to coax registrations out of people? It seems so forced and makes me skeptical about their motives. I don’t think people should vote at all if they can’t make the effort on their own.
Many people aren’t looking at the fact that the heads of these large corporations and banks are all white. No African American owns nore are CEO’s of any of thoses businesses. Does that make the betrayal less painful. When they robbed our country, do you think they took race, gender, and religion into consideration? None of that mattered to them because they were consumed with selfiness and greed. Racism is a strange thing. Say for example I’m black and I don’t like white people. Therefore, most of my time is going to be around my own people . As a result, the people that will hurt me the most will be my own because I never let white people get close enough. Therefore, the real distrust should lie with my own kind because their the ones who hurt me the worst. It was the people closet to me that hurt me the most. Therefore, why should I hate someone who has done nothing to me. If Obama wins, people shouldn’t look at it as the end of the world because in 4 years there will be another election. It won’t be the first time that we’ve had a one term president.
– If someone is interested in voting, they are free to register to vote. Why do groups like Acorn have to coax registrations out of people? –
Because most of them are low income and elderly who do not have the means to register or have become so disenfranchised with our country due to their conditions and our political leadership they believe their vote would do nothing.
Perfect case in point: Palin
Americans have sunk to such a point that this is the best the GOP can come up with, and our expectations from our leaders, particularly given the current President, have dropped to such a low that people actually support these type of candidates in record numbers.
dan – It may surprise you to know that some people who don’t like Obama have never listened to Hannity or Limbaugh. It may surprise you more to know many of us who are voting for McCain have actually read both Obama AND McCain’s books and studied their positions on all the issues before choosing the candidate that best reflects our own value system (taxes, abortion,healthcare, etc.) – believe it or not,just like Democrats, Republicans are also able to form their own opinions. Posted by: Penny Pincher | October 15, 2008, 5:55 pm 5:55 pm
Ben J: The are helping voters from both parties to “register” to vote. They are purposely trained not to push either party or any candidates. They are required, by law, to turn in all registrations even if they are not legitimate. There are a very small number of people who falsify and those registrations are required to be turned in. They verify every registration for fact as much as possible but must still turn in the false ones. The Republicans saw this as a way to make something out of nothing even though ACORN was trying to do the “right thing”. Remember, also, that all American’s, including homeless, etc, have the right to vote. Do some more reading and you will see the Republican deception.
I am wondering if all of these people spouting their racist nonsense and racial epithets really believe that average, not racist, open-minded individual Americans will buy into their hate and suddenly holler “Go, Palin!” I am not a liberal, not a Democrat, certainly not a socialist, but I am a human being who avoids people like those spewing their thinly veiled racist hate as “freedom of speech.” I agree, you people are free to behave like neanderthal third graders, but I am free to pity you for doing so. And to avoid you. I am voting for Obama because John McCain’s inept campaign and his selection of Gov. Palin as a running mate have left me with no other choice. And, no, a future with “President Obama” does not scare me. Jeez.
Penny Pincher: If you feel good about that and can live with our choice, than do so. That is your right as an American. I am sure you have done all the research, from both sides, and made the best decision you could with what you know up to the point. Good luck!
Posted by: dlboggan | October 15, 2008, 6:01 pm 6:01 pm
– actually read both Obama AND McCain’s books and studied their positions on all the issues before choosing the candidate that best reflects our own value system –
And unfortunately, that is a minority of todays voters.
I have talked literally to hundreds of former McCain supporters who simply did not even know the issues. Their support was based on party affiliation, POW status, or something similar.
Once they looked at the issues, where each candidates positions were on them and what each would mean for the country, the vast majority of them reversed their decision and decided that Obama was the best choice.
The only thing worse than not voting at all is voting based on ignorance.
Let’s start a new idea here. Whomever becomes our next president should take all the best ideas from all sources, including past candidates, and help create the most promising solutions for each of our nations needs. If Clinton had a better health plan, then use it. If McCain had a better battle plan, then use it, if Obama had a better economic plan then use it. So, the question is, who is the best candidate that is willing to take the best of the best and not be afraid to put in forward and make it work? Are each of you out there able to live with that? Can we, as a single nation, support whichever candidate wins to do this very thing? I hope so, for all of our sakes.
Posted by: dlboggan | October 15, 2008, 6:07 pm 6:07 pm
Concerned American – I don’t agree that the majority of voters are uninformed and I don’t agree that when people compare Obama and McCain’s policies side-by-side most come to the conclusion that Obama’s policies are better. Sure, many do come to that conclusion, but at the same time, many are offended by his stance on abortion or on his wealth redistribution ideals, just like many are turned off by some of what McCain says.
I think most voters are concerned enough to take it upon themselves to do the research, read the books, get their news from various sources (Washington Times AND the NY Times) to get a well-rounded view. Yes, some are seduced by the media, but personally, I don’t know any of those voters.
Posted by: Penny Pincher | October 15, 2008, 6:12 pm 6:12 pm
dlboggan, you said “Whomever becomes our next president should take all the best ideas from all sources, including past candidates, and help create the most promising solutions for each of our nation’s needs.”
I agree wholeheartedly – that’s why it makes sense to choose the candidate who has a proven track record of working both sides of the aisle – with members of his own party as well as other parties.
Penny: If you don’t know anyone with those ideas than you must never leave home or your circle of friends must be pretty set in their ways. You may need to get around more. Wish you luck on that one, too. Oh, and by the way, I do know a lot of people who are well read in this election and I too have noted that they normally choose Obama over McCain when their stories are read and confirmed from many sources. Not a legitimate means for polling, but it does seem rather obvious when so many others do go towards Obama.
As I read these some of the comments on this post,particularly from folks like mack,barb,sue dO,sarah….only lets me know that they really have serious problems…Hate will only destroy all of you…If its God’s will for Obama to get the presidency, then you can post all of the nasty, racists remarks you want to post..it will do no good…Everything that the Re-pug-nant-cans do backfires on them because the majority of them(not all) are just a bunch of racists haters..The more hate you spew the higher Obama rises in the polls….Keep up the good works!!!!
Thats an issue, how many variants of McCain are there? 1-The war hero who crashed 4 planes and killed sailors. 2- The lackey of Bush and Wall St. 3- The white knuckler lier. 4- The guy that picked Pailin. 5- Who is the real McCoy?
Thanks Media-watcher: These proposals should not mean the whole package but could be the best parts from all sources to make something even greater. Yes, you are right. The candidate that brings support together to put ideas and solutions into a single package and then bring in the peoples support to make it happen. It would be hopeful to see us all win under this type of leadership and mentorship.
Posted by: dlboggan | October 15, 2008, 6:23 pm 6:23 pm
dlboggan – all I said was that most voters educate themselves and form their own opinions. Some like Obama, others like McCain. As for not knowing voters who are seduced by the media – I don’t think that reflects how often I get out, it’s more of a reflection of who I choose to surround myself with. I enjoy being around people who have opposing views from mine, I don’t enjoy being around ignorant people, and that’s not likely to change no matter how often I get out.
To Darlene, who claims to be a Christian and that Obama is the anti-christ……..Did you not also know that according to the bible,when the anti-christ appears, all of the church (The true Christians) will have already been raptured off the earth…So, with that being said….Why are you still here????
– I don’t agree that when people compare Obama and McCain’s policies side-by-side most come to the conclusion that Obama’s policies are better. –
Those are my observations based on my own participation.. as for you agreeing or disagreeing, that is for you to deal with.
– I think most voters are concerned enough to take it upon themselves to do the research –
My primary area of involvement has been in the academic realm, where most of those who I talk to are first time voters in a presidential election. They are too busy dealing with their own personal issues to take time out researching candidates, and most have had no clue as to what the candidates represented, and when shown, the choice for most was fairly easy. These were open minded intelligent individuals who for the most part simply made a rational decision which was best for the country.
Posted by: Concerned American | October 15, 2008, 6:30 pm 6:30 pm
Concerned American: Ouch! Interesting perspective and very insightful. I can see your point and must concur that your observation does make a greater point then the few Americans that do a greater amount of research. I try but find that so much information can be confusing and requires diligence to discover what is the greater truth. Due diligence choosing a “great” candidate or voting for the right thing is not easy for the American electorate during these times. That is why it is so important to find the right candidates to serve our needs in the important positions of responsibility. These people need to be “for the people, by the people and of the people”. Not just the few. So how does a naive person find the right choice? How do we help them, responsibly, to make that choice? Tough question.
People! People, please let’s focus on the issues. Who cares what Obama has done in the past. Who care that he attended Rev Wrights church the last 20 years or at least 1,040 times and admired his as a family member. It’s just crazy, people need to realize that by some luck the 1,040 times he attended Rev Wright never spoke about how much he hates this country. Who cares that he worked with Bill Ayers. It’s not his fault he bombed the New York City Police Headquarters, the United States Capitol building, The Pentagon, the Park Station of the San Francisco Police Department and the Park Station of the San Francisco Police Department. People need to realize that Obama was only eight years old when this happened and yes he did work with him when Bill Ayers made those disgusting comment on 9/11 that he wished he could have done more bombings in his days, but you never know maybe Obama did not have the TV or radio on, maybe Obama did not see those comments on any newspaper, maybe it was never spoke of in all the meetings Obama and Ayers attended, and Ayers possibly never spoke about all that the times Obama went to his house, the time he held his first political fund raiser at Ayers home or the times Michelle Obama and Ayers wife hung out together. Now people how can you call it guilt by association when they were good friends. Leave the poor guy alone and stay focused on the issues we need a Socialist Country. We need to give to the poor. We need to pay more for our goods. We need medical just as Canada and Cuba. We need to pay more for gas, so in the next 20 years we could be energy independent. Our employers are more than happy to pay more taxes so we can live a better life. The people that don’t pay taxes need to get a refund from our pockets it’s Patiotic to spread the wealth. It’s good to give a company a two year temporary tax relief that way they can have time to take their company overseas and not be rushed into it. So people share Obamas views and forget his radical ties.
Stop being part of the problem and start being part of the solution.
The story about McCain’s brother is, like so many McCain “controversies” a creation of the McCain campaign itself. It is another sideshow in the McCain campaign circus, full of distraction.
John McCain is like a squid, shooting out a cloud of ink whenever danger approaches. For the McCain campaign the danger is that people will remember his years of entanglement with Keating even before the “Keating 5″ investigation. McCain is rehabilitated, we are to suppose.
Are we going to let John McCain’s style of leadership stand for American leadership? McCain has proven himself unfit for duty, by his smear tactics, his angry mob rallies, his distractions away from the important issues, and his failure to display the ethics and demeanor of a U.S. President. We had a president like John McCain — his name was Nixon.
What about the Democrats (Obama) that made the decision to let all the poor people have a part of the “American dream”? This is what has started this “American nightmare”. The demos. wouldn’t cooperate with the Republicans when they needed to regulate the banks. The choice of the demos. to have the banks/loan cos. “deregulated” has started this economy mess we’re in today. Now they want all the poor people, and those that don’t ebven belong in this Country to have the best health care. They have already just about broke the Medi-cal system. Now they want to break something else! If you want to continue to pay through the nose, go ahead and vote for democrats. Give all our money and resources away. That’s what the democrats have done and want to continue to do.
What do any of you hope to accomplish by spewing such hateful remarks at one another? Do you go home and high-five your buddies because you were the lowest common denominator on the chat boards today?? I respect everyone’s passion for their political beliefs; but why not base that political beliefs on facts and policy. So much hate and fear pushed at each other. This is supposed to be the UNITED States! As a former registered Republican- turned Independant, I (as many of my independant friends do..) find that there has been nothing to gain by either party lobbing insults or innuendos at one another. All of you that are involved in the hate-mongering on BOTH sides, should be ashamed! Take that passion, EDUCATE yourselves on the issues, (people, there are independant media outlets so both sides should quit crying bias) and take that passion and fight the good fight! I think enough damage has been done to our beloved country as a result of fear and hate-mongering. How much energy is wasted on blindly supporting your party? Have we lost the ability to call wrong, WRONG? I think that the “base” of both parties has really lost sight of what this country is not only about, but what it was intended to be. Party politics are placed above what’s good for the country. It’s done nothing but deepen the divide! Can we not choose to disagee on issues in a civil manner. Can we not push for reform of both parties to better this process for ALL Americans? There are a lot of us out here that truly hope so. I suppose for the rest of you, there is plenty of hate to go around.
Wow, Darlene: Calm down there. Was it not McCain who was call for more deregulation across the board. Was it not the Republicans who had “complete” control of the administration and the Congress for at least 6 years? How did the Democrats prevent the Republican controlled government during all that time? Hmm. Something does not compute here. And where does Obama state that he is supporting health care for non-Americans? Would you please provide some facts to back up your statements. Please provide at least more then one non-partisan source for each statement. I have asked this time and again from those that make the rash statements and none seem to be able to back them up with any “real” sources. Help us out here. No more of these Palin type platitudes and talking points, please.
This is what President Bush though, but apparently, when the tough got going, the people started complaining. He didn’t have a choice as to who he was born to BUT he did have a choice as to who he stands by. Are you going to side with him or the Christians? Your choice!
It is his words not mine.
You Ain’t Gonna Like Losing
I know everyone has a different opinion on the war and ourcurrent President. But, this article makes a lot of sense,
take 2 minutes, read it and give it some thought.
When electing the next President, ‘the only decision
you have to make is who you want sitting in that seat in
the White House when – not if – WHEN we get hit again and
millions of American lives are put at risk!’
This is from: ‘You ain’t gonna like losing.’
Author unknown. President Bushdid make a bad mistake in the war on
terrorism. But the mistake was not his decision to go to
war in Iraq . Bush’s mistake came in his belief that
this country is the same one his father fought for in WWII.
It is not.
Back then, they had just come out of a vicious depression.
The country was steeled by the hardship of that depression,
but they still believed fervently in this country. They knew
that the people had elected their leaders, so it was the
people’s duty to back those leaders.
Therefore, when the war broke out the people came together,
rallied behind, and stuck with their leaders, whether they
had voted for them or not or whether the war was going
badly or not.
And war was just as distasteful and the anguish just as
great then as it is today. Often there were more casualties
in one day in WWII than we have had in the entire Iraq war.
But that did not matter. The people stuck with the
President because it was their patriotic duty. Americans
put aside their differences in WWII and worked together to
win that war.
Everyone from every strata of society, from young to old
pitched in. Small children pulled little wagons around to
gather scrap metal for the war effort. Grade school
students saved their pennies to buy stamps for war bonds to
help the effort.
Men who were too old or medically 4F lied about their age
or condition trying their best to join the military.
Women doubled their work to keep things going at home.
Harsh rationing of everything from gasoline to soap, to
butter was imposed, yet there was very little complaining.
You never heard prominent people on the radio belittling
the President. Interestingly enough in those days there
were no fat cat actors and entertainers who ran off to
visit and fawn over dictators of hostile countries and
complain to them about our President. Instead, they made
upbeat films and entertained our troops to help the
troops’ morale. And a bunch even enlisted.
And imagine this: Teachers in schools actually started the
day off with a Pledge of Allegiance, and with prayers for
our country and our troops!
Back then, no newspaper would have dared point out certain
weak spots in our cities where bombs could be set off to
cause the maximum damage. No newspaper would have dared
complain about what we were doing to catch spies. A
newspaper would have been laughed out of existence if it
had complained that German or Japanese soldiers were being
‘tortured’ by being forced to wear women’s
underwear, or subjected to interrogation by a woman, or
being scared by a dog or did not have air conditioning.
There were a lot of things different back then. We were not
subjected to a constant bombardment of pornography,
perversion and promiscuity in movies or on radio. We did
not have legions of crack heads, dope pushers and armed
gangs roaming our streets.
No, President Bush did not make a mistake in his handling
of terrorism. He made the mistake of believing that we
still had the courage and fortitude of our fathers. He
believed that this was still the country that our fathers
fought so dearly to preserve.
It is not the same country. It is now a cross between
Sodom and Gomorrah and the land of Oz. We did unite for a
short while after 9/11, but our attitude changed when we
found out that defending our country would require some
sacrifices.
We are in great danger. The terrorists are fanatic
Muslims. They believe that it is okay, even their duty, to
kill anyone who will not convert to Islam. It has been
estimated that about one third or over three hundred
million Muslims are sympathetic to the terrorists cause…
Hitler and Tojo combined did not have nearly that many
potential recruits. So… We either win it – or lose it -
and you ain’t gonna like losing.
America is not at war. The military is at war.
America is at the mall, or watching the movie stars.
(Remember Obama said in his book ‘Audacity of
Hope’, ‘I will stand with the Muslims should the
political winds shift in an ugly direction’…..what
better place for the Muslims to control our country, than
in the office of the President of USA . If you ever
forwarded an e-mail, now’s the time to do it!)
Abovethehate: Well said and thanks. I will try to do better. As I see it, the Independents being one of the important groups in this election have forced us to pay attention to your very thesis. Hang in there and hopefully we will get back to those civil manners that you have reminded us about. Being part of the solution instead of part of the problem can be very hard for many of us.
Darlene: You took some very good words from McCain that reflect very much what all of us agree with and I am sure Obama would agree with too. For you to slant the words of Obama that he would support a Muslim controlled world over a “Christian?” one or should it be an American one is very low of you. You know very well that Obama’s statement was that he would support “all” people of the U.S. no matter what the race, color, creed, or religion. For you to twist such a statement shows how badly you are blinded by you desire for your candidate. No one wants to make McCain less of a great man, the question is, can he do a better job then Obama to bring our nation together. Please remove you anti-Muslim slants from your posts and stick with the real issues. Thanks!
That’s why I feel he can relate to my situation…Tell me, how can John McCain relate to you when his wife comes to the RNC in a 300,000 dress, and not to mention the jewelry she had on which put her outfit over a million dollars..and he had on 500.00 shoes..Michelle Obama’s dress was about 150.00..Now you tell me, where is the waste here?…I wonder how many people could you feed at the soup line or homeless shelter with the amount of money that was spent alone on John and Cindy’s McCain’s clothes?…Jesus was right when he said…It’s easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven…..
– (Remember Obama said in his book ‘Audacity of Hope’, ‘I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction’. –
**************************
Amazing that so many people are so ignorant to continue perpetuating the lies:
Actual quote from “The Audacity of Hope” [pg. 261]: Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific assurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.
Obama did not say he would side with “the Muslims,” which could easily be read as meaning he would side with the world’s Muslim population even if it meant working outside the best interests of the United States. He said he would side with “them,” referring back to his mention of immigrant communities and specifically to “Arab and Pakistani Americans.” Furthermore, he was speaking of an “ugly direction” like the mass internment of Japanese Americans.
Please friends, I understand that conservatives believe that this country should be left to it’s own devices and let the markets and business do what they will. History is replete with examples of this, from the fall of Holland’s economy centuries ago when the
tulip bulb market collapsed, to this past century with the great depression. Ask anyone who was around that time, and they’d complain how no one was accountable, corruption was rampant, speculation was everywhere. The years after Roosevelt took office, he put the controls in place on the banking, securities, and private sector corporations. Over the last quarter century those controls have been weakened or thrown out by the Republican party in control since ’80 (I don’t count Clinton, because he was in the Republican’s pocket because he couldn’t keep it in his pants.)
With those controls in place and the simple concept that Henry Ford had about giving his workers a wage that they could afford his vehicle. The country grew and strengthened thru World War II and the following Cold War. At the end of the cold war, the “greed is good” and “warm-body” view of employees not as assets more valuable than tools and machinery and property. All that mattered to Executives was cutting costs, showing more profit to get more money. Then “most favored nation” status was granted to China under Bush II (Nevermind that it’s a totalitarian regime, what they’ve done to Tibet, Tianamen Square, Vietnam War, Korean War). Employers moved manufacturing over there (the administration said we’d be a service economy, servicing their corporate masters is more like it). No country can be strong and stable without a manufacturing base (that was why we had to rebuild Europe and Japan after WWII so they would not fall to Communism). We now need to stop the handouts and back deals with corporate America. Reform the tax structure so all of the corporate exemptions are taken away It hurts the smaller entrepreneurs anyway, allow the smaller businesses and regular everyday people who make less than a quarter of a million a year(yes that includes brain surgeons too) to get out from under the onerous tax burden. We need to bring the jobs back here by making the tax code favor companies who employ American workers in the bulk their manufacturing.
Ten percent “Patriotic Company” tax program on top of the current taxes (if collected) would give adequate incentive to get the manufacturing back here.
Many of my family members are Republicans, and if they’d look at the data on it and realize all of that manufacturing China is doing was being done here. They are smart enough to realize that Outsourcing, by cutting off worker’s from good jobs, they (the big manufacturers who can ship jobs overseas) are in no small part causing the housing crisis
Look at the statistics at the link below. This shows China’s Global Trade in the last eight years.
http://www.uschina.org/statistics/tradetable.html
That was the US-China Business Council.
Oh and for anyone who hears vicious comments and emails about the candidates. Do yourselves a favor and go to factcheck.org and investigate yourself, if they don’t have the data, submit it to the editor and they’ll have it checked in a few days. They are non-biased non-partisan created in response to all of the negative campaigning and slimy tactics used in recent years’ elections.
Have a great day.
WHAT A SHOCKER!
In the final debate, Barack Hussein Obama talked more like Republicans George Bush and Herbert Hoover. Barack Hussein Obama related to growing the federal government, raising taxes and trade restrictions. Barack Hussein Obama says he is not repeating the last eight years of the Bush administration, but talks like President Bush. If Barack Hussein Obama becomes president, he says he will repeat the acts of Herbert Hoover (raising taxes and trade restrictions) that led America into the Great Depression.
John McCain and Sarah Palin have a much better understanding of how America can survive the financial crisis. John McCain and Sarah Palin do not talk like a George Bush and a Herbert Hoover.
You had better do some real thinking before you pull that lever.
WE HAVE EVERY WORD IN COMPUTER MEMORY!
I don’t know why people can’t see that John McCain’s “attitude” as they say is just his military background coming out. He is a straightforward, to the point, obviously leader type who definitely has the knowledge of government and politics.
I believe that John McCain and Sarah Palin will be able to do the job needed to move us in the right direction. Borack Obama can talk the talk, but can he walk the walk. I don’t believe that he would be able to provide all the promises he is making. Those are just words that he knows everyone wants to hear. Has he ever had to deal first hand with any of those issues? Has he ever been to war?
If any of the people criticizing socialism could define it, I’d be amazed. Look, if you’re OK with your grandma and grandpa getting a Social Security check and Medicare or Medicaid coverage, then you’re OK with socialism. Last I checked, no one called being on Medicare getting a handout.
How stupid can you really be! Well it’s apparent that the majority of you on this post havn’t a clue about what is at stake here. So the majority of your think that everyone should be equal. No free market, equal jobs, equal pay, we all make exactly the same amount of money, one leader, equal housing, equal success, bigger goverment so they can take care of us, and one etopia. Right just shut up! I ask you now, How many of you know someone that lives in or have lived in a socialist country? It’s not pretty, I have a cousin that thought that it would be nice to live in Venezuela a socialist ran goverment. He lived there for two years, we had to send him money to get back home. Let me say it was bad. Let’s talk about the medical there, waiting lines for hospitial treatment. People are dying in line waiting for three or four hours waiting for treatment in emergency. It’s because Hugo Chávez does not want to spend the money on newer and bigger hospitials, he wants to build newer and bigger homes for himself. The Doctors don’t really care because that all are employees making the same amount of money. More likely not even as much as you! Hey what about housing that you don’t even own. All run down, something that I know most of you wouldn’t dare live in or visit. Jobs there, you work where you are told to work. You might luck up and get put into a job that you like. Yea right! If you lived in a Socialist Country you would not even consider Socialism here in this Country. Now let’s get back to the ignorance of the majority of the posters here. Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid is coverage alright, it’s something we all pay or paid in insurance called FICA that is taken out of your pay checks. Not a socialist program, but an insurance policy. I tell you, you need to do your homework on the two candidates before you vote. Don’t rely on the media or the blogs, find the information out for yourselves. Please make the right choice, stop looking for a hand out or getting something for nothing. That’s really what all that you see in Obama Ayers right! If Obama wins, you will get something alright. It’s called higher taxes, bigger goverment, less freedoms, and more lies about I’m going to help middle income America. Just like all of the Democrates before him and never, ever did one thing that benefited the middle or poor class. Not one thing! Name one thing that the Democrates have done for you! Do the research on the Democratic lead congress the past two years. You can try and blame the president if you want. All of this financail mess was addressed in 2006 but the Dems did nothing, D Barney Franks head of the Finance Commitee said there’s nothing to worry about Fannie May and Freddie Mac are doing just fine. Poor decision to on the Dems part just protecting the money that they were recieving from Fannie and Freddie. Which includes lining Obama’s pockets also. Do your research.
