McCain Says We’ve ‘Stopped the Bleeding’ on Bailout Bill, Praises Palin’s Performance
ABC News’ David Wright, Alyssa Litoff, and Bret Hovell report:
At a town hall meeting in Pueblo, Colorado, Republican John McCain lavished praise on his running mate Sarah Palin for her performance in last night’s debate.
"How ’bout Sarah Palin last night?" he asked the crowd gathered in a gymnasium at Colorado State University. The crowd whooped and hollered.
"Viva la barracuda," McCain said. "I almost felt a little sorry last night for my old friend Joe Biden,” McCain said, laughing. "She did a magnificent job."
McCain quickly pivoted to the bailout package that made its way through the House of Representatives just as he took the stage here.
"We’ve stopped the bleeding," he said. "But now we need to reform the way we do business in Washington. "This is the most severe financial crisis we have faced in our lifetime. And there are no easy answers to it," he said.
But a voter later challenged McCain, asking him why he opposes a plan described last night by Sen. Biden that would allow homeowners to refinance their mortgages, lowering principle as well.
"Before we bail out the banks, why don’t you help the people?" he asked. "What do you say about that."
McCain responded with boilerplate talking points, blaming the housing crisis on the failure of Democrats to properly oversee the government sponsored enterprises Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
Republicans allege that campaign contributions from Fannie and Freddie executives bought them lax treatment by Democratic lawmakers in control of congress. McCain takes credit for warning of the need for reform 2 years ago.
But, aside from saying that "our challenge is to help Main Street and not Wall Street," McCain did not address the substance of the voter’s concern or explain why he opposes the plan Biden outlined.
For the second time in 2 days, McCain signaled that he plans to go on the offensive in next week’s Town Hall debate with Barack Obama.
Yesterday in Denver a voter asked him, "When do you plan to take the gloves off?" McCain shot back, "How bout next Tuesday?"
Here in Pueblo, he gave some hint as to the direction of his planned attack: "Tuesday night we’re going to have a Town Hall meeting, and we’re going to learn a lot about who’s going to be a conservative, who’s a liberal, who’s going to raise your taxes."

“The bleeding has stopped”?
It may have stopped spurting but the blood is still seeping out.
Palin, while adequate, was far from convincing that she has the capability of being VP, let alone a heartbeat away from the Presidency.
Most Americans agree Biden won the debate. He is the one who we can trust to be able to take over in the event of something happening to Obama.
If it came to Palin do that . . . a wink and a “you betcha” would be her only fall-back!

McCian knows he chose a loof, goof, and spoof! You can tell by the way he looked at her when Katie Couric asked her if she was ready to lead if need be.

MikeSk -I guess you want a communist to run your country. Fine, when double digit inflation and interest rates are your thing, fine. If you define tax increases as patriotism or neighborliness, fine, you will love Obama. If you want more mortgage mess like Fanny and Freddie’s CEO friends of Biden and Obama, then go ahead and vote for Obama. If you want Obama to keep sending memos to FARC the terrorist orgainization in Columbia, fine, vote for Obama. If you want a person to sit in a church and hear hate-filled rhetoric for 20 years, fine, vote Obama. If you want a person who befriends and does business with a person who tried to blow up the pentagon and other U.S. buildings like William Ayers, fine, vote for Obama. If you believe the lies of Obama when he says he will not tax small companies in capital gains taxes. Fine, believe that malarky (suckers). Fact is: they DON’T pay capital gains taxes! So, if you want to be swindled by two guys who tell you they root for the middle class guy but really aren’t (they are both millionaires), fine, vote for Obama. Fact is, Palin won the debate. And she called on Biden about his lies and it was funny! Tsk, tsk Joe Biden for not knowing what the VP does. Did someone put tape on the back of his head to make his eyes look weird?

THAT IS WHAT THE REPUBLICAN PARTY IS FULL OF RACIST, IGNORANT PEOPLE THAT THE SMARTEST THING THAT CAN COME OUT OF THEIR MOUTH ARE HATEFUL WORDS. PLEASE LOOK WITHIN YOURSELF AND SEE THAT ALL THAT HATRED YOU HAVE IS FOR YOURSELF. PEOPLE LIKE THAT ARE THE REASON WHY PEOPLE LIKE OBAMA EXIST. To the detriment of the Democrats, Palin’s winning performance has forced the spotlight exclusively now on McCain & Obama. The VPs and the legitimacy thereof is now a non-issue. A position the Democrats didn’t want to find themselves in. Finally, It’s Rocky Balboa versus Apollo Creed. Rocky knows he can win if only he can figure out a way to corner him. Obama is about to be cornered.

Old man has definitely lost his bearings! Guess what McCain? Joe’s not going to feel sorry for you when he’s in the White House soon and you’re stuck high and dry. Joe is NOT going to feel sorry for you when you’re SOL after this election had will have lost your credibility, $$$, and years on your life. Palin won’t even look at you anymore, let alone Cindy. What’s really starting to grate on me is McCain’s repeated lie, at these stump speeches, that he suspended his campaign to rush to Washington to fix the economic crisis.
Anyone who has followed this knows that, on the Wednesday he made this statement, he didn’t rush back to Washington. No. He went to CBS in New York for an interview with Katie Couric. (Just ask David Letterman about that.)
After the Couric interview did he fly out to D.C? No, again. He stayed overnight in NYC to give a speech at the Clinton Global Initiative on Thursday morning. This is not campaigning?
Then and only then, did McCain fly to D.C. But, guess what? Obama was there, too — at the request of President Bush.
I think the only thing McCain can take credit for is making an ass out of himself.

McCain: I will veto any pork barrel that comes to my desk.
Supporter: But you just passed the rescue package that includes many pork barrels!
McCain: I know. I am a “real change”.
Supporter: I believe you 100%. You are definitely the “real change”. You said that “our economy is strong”, and now we need to “rescue” it. You said that “no debate until we get the rescue solution”, and I saw you debated very well even if no rescue solution yet!. Who dare not to say these are “real changes”?
McCain: Well, glad to see that you really understand me.
Posted by: Palin | October 3, 2008, 6:35 pm 6:35 pm
Absolutely “Palin” ….interesting name choice by the way :-)
“I won’t vote for the bail out plan if any pork is attached”
McCain says one thing and then does only what is politically expedient. That is not leadership, not integrity, not honor — it is merely wanting to win at all cost.
Well I’m not letting my country be the price for his fierce ambition.

Finally people are seeing the light. Both McCain and Obama, at the end of the day, have sold us out to those they’re truly loyal to: wealthy CEOs and the idea that bigger government can solve anything and problems will go away if we just keep throwing money at it. Now, because of them, this bailout will cost an average of $31,000 per taxpayer. $31,000 of YOUR money.
But there’s something the Democrats and Republicans don’t want you to know about all this, and that’s that there is another candidate, Bob Barr, who is the ONLY candidate to oppose the bailout, oppose wasteful spending, and oppose government control. His campaign, like his time in Congress, is built on real principles. In an appeal to your conscience, I would advise all of you to support Bob Barr for president, for the sake of our nation’s future.

McCain does not know what lies ahead. His bid is finished. things will get worse. and hear is the reason:
1. With choice of Palin McCain shot himself in the foot.
2. By careless talk McCain tells America I am ignorant on that subject. Boy it is all about the economy and that is what will make Sen. Obama win.
3. McCain’s attack style especially using Palin is counterproductive.
Nothing will save McCain. It is finsihed

I watched the debate between Governor Palin (5 weeks of national debate experience) versus Senator Biden (35 years of national debate experience).
Obviously, she is a quick study. Just imagine what she will be like after four years as vice president! She has been a Mayor and a Governor. She is more qualified than anyone running.
John McCain showed great judgment in choosing her.
It’s too bad the DNC and biased media didn’t “select” Biden or Hillary. OBAMA HAS BASED HIS ENTIRE CAMPAIGN ON LIES. HE HAS TOO MANY TIES TO TERRORISTS AND ANTI-AMERICANS. DON’T FORGET “God Damn America” JEREMIAH WRIGHT, PFLEGER, FARRAKHAN, AYERS, REZKO (TO NAME A FEW). BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA IS A DANGER TO OUR COUNTRY. Obama’s ties to organizations like “ACORN” caused much of the country’s mortgage foreclosure issues. ACORN IS UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR “VOTER FRAUD” IN MANY STATES! Obama is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
I’m voting for the Honorable John McCain in November.

I don’t think we stopped the bleeding at all. We are pumping blood into a body without fixing the holes.
If we really wanted to fix the problem, we would have ended the expansion of the CRA, that was done during the Clinton Administration. We will still continue to make very risky loans to people with bad credit. This will only increase the problem.

Palin is dumb as a fence post and couldn’t answer a straight question. How is that effective? McCain may as well pull out of all states except Alaska. With Palins popularity tanking there as well I don’t think he can even count on that state. Maybe Arizona? From my time there I don’t recall brain dead as a standard for the residents so that may be out as well. Obama/Biden never looked better.

McCain is no maverick. Just an old, tired, wacked-out simpleton whose POW experience transformed him into a psycho. Palin is another freak, in her own right, with the phony folksy schtick and the pathetic wink – go back to Alaska where that junk works. She insults me and most women of intelligence and substance. These two make claims to joe-six packs and hockey moms – what a crock; their policies favor the wealthy not the middle class. “McCain has said he would never, ever sign a bill that had an earmark.
“I will veto every bill with earmarks, until the Congress stops sending bills with earmarks,” he said in a speech in April.
At the Republican National Convention, he put it this way: ‘The first big-spending, pork-barrel earmark bill that comes across my desk, I will veto it. I will make them famous, and you will know their names. You will know their names.”
It got huge applause.
But on Wednesday — in his first vote in months — McCain voted for earmarks.
In an attempt to woo recalcitrant House Republicans to vote for the $700 billion economic bailout bill, senators loaded it up with earmarks, including $2 million in tax breaks for companies that make wooden arrows for children and millions for U.S. wool producers and auto racetrack owners.
McCain had warned against such a thing happening. In a speech in Michigan before the vote, he said: “It is completely unacceptable for any kind of earmarks to be included in this bill. It would be outrageous for legislators and lobbyists to pack this rescue plan with
taxpayer money for favored companies. This simply cannot happen.”
It did. And he voted for it anyway.”

Why should American’s believe John McCain about anything? McCain didn’t even know the ecomony was bleeding, now he tells us it’s stopped. McCain and Palin have campaigned on eliminating pork barrel and wasteful spending. The Bailout/rescue was laiden with it and John McCain self-proclaimed Maverick didn’t challenge the pork-barrel spending….intead he renamed it to sweetener spending and voted for it.
John McCain is irratic and unstable. He can’t keep track of his flip flops or what he stands for. He just voted in support of something he’s made headlines promising to eliminate. Not only did he vote for it….he claims credit for it when the whole world knows his suspend the campaign/debate stunt was a farce. McCain created a crisis within a crisis. Then tried to appear as if is swooped in to save it when in actuallity he contributed nothing to it.
Americans have been lied to long enough by Bush, Cheney. A vote for McCain is a vote for more of the same.
John McCain isn’t a maverick or a reformer. He’s been in Washington for 26 years and hasn’t changed it, becoming instead a steadfast part of it.
By McCains own admission, he is not good on the economy and he has demonstrated to America and the rest of the world just that during this crisis.
