McCain to Iowa: “I’ll Lead, Put Our Country First”
Perhaps seeking to bypass those Des Moines Register editorial board members he seemed to find quite irritating a few days ago,Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., contributes an op-ed to the newspaper today.
"I’ll lead, put our country first," it’s titled. "Which candidate’s experience – in government and in life – makes him a more reliable commander in chief?" he asks. "Who is ready to lead? In a time of trouble and danger for our country, who will put our country first?…
"You don’t have to hope that things will change when you vote for me. You know things will change, because I have been fighting for change in Washington my whole career. I’ve been fighting for you my whole life, and that is what I will do as president of the United States."

Joe Biden Recalls Death of Wife, Daughter
Well Nobama, The Des Moines Register speaks for middle america, and of course it irritates you.
Acorn not an issue … so why are you seeking a special prosecutor to stall in an investigation … because the press if being forced to take issue with your version of the truth.
Ayers not an issue … “he’s been rehabilitated” … that is not reassuring to The University of Nebraska, which just yesterday dis-invited him from speaking at that great University.
Thank you Des Moines Register (Iowa is great) … Thank you University of Nebraska (Nebraska is great) … middle america is not gangland Chicago, Senator. A giant is awakening in our country, despite all of the hacks like Powell you can get to come on air and try to stem the tide. America is great.
Joe The Plumber should be president, you should be cleaning his stool! That wwould be fair … you call it “spreading the wealth.” Guess he cleaned up your B. S. didn’t he.

We’re beyond that, Senator McCain. Haven’t you heard that we are electing the President of The World?

Gallop within 2 points, Zogby within 3 points. Money cannot buy elections ( ask Perot, Forbes,..). Hilary beat him in the mid west inspite of spending 4 to 1. Also some of these money is tainted coming from overseas drugs and terrorist connections…
Trying to cover up Rezko/Ayers/Wright/Farrakhan/Jesse Jackson/Drug habits/Smoking/Bitter americans/HIgher taxes/Socialist distribution of wealth/sitting with Iran/Venezuela without conditions/Against guns/against drilling/against nuclear power/against victory in Iraq…… will be his downfall

The headline should read, “I will lead our country right off the cliff!”
It’s funny how Joe the plumber has let McCain pull him into his slime world.
McPainful is gone. Middle America you have had the wool pulled over your eyes so far that you can see the road that McCain is taking you down.

Of course money buys elections. Obama’s raising so much money is evidence of his intelligence and the desire of average people for a new course after 8 years of incompetence from the GOP.
Cry me a river, Repubs. McCain could have been as smart as Obama and eschewed public financing. But he didn’t. McCain could have run a campaign as well as Obama’s. But he didn’t. McCain could have chosen a qualified running mate. But he didn’t. McCain could have refrained from running a dirty campaign that just inspired Obama supporters to send money money. But he didn’t.
McCain could have put his country first. But he hasn’t so far in this election — and no one who does not already support him believes him now.

Gerald Rush… You realize that it was *McCain* who was irritated at the Des Moines Register, right? Nice use of your PhD there.
Country First is such a horrible slogan. Would Obama really not put country first? What the hell else would come first?

John McCain, shame on you!

The republican party should have run Romney. I see that Huckabee has a show on Fox where he can continue to play the role he has developed.
The best thing about this election is that all of the old has been swept aside.

McCain’s on statement:”You know things will change, because I have been fighting for change in Washington my whole career. I’ve been fighting for you my whole life, and that is what I will do as president of the United States.”
________________________________________
John, if you have been fighting for me your whole career, then why am I worse off after 8 years?
Why after 8 years have we lost thousands of jobs?
Why after 8 years have you voted against raising minimum wage for the people you say you now want their vote?
You say Country First, which country, yours?
Where rich continue to get rich while the little man works his butt off (if he can find a job) and keeps the rich, richer?
We are not peons and you are not a king!
I want the wealth to be shared and to me the wealth means an equal share of good jobs, a nice home and the ability to retire.
You and the Republicans idea of sharing the wealth, is us working while you get tax breaks and hope that it trickles down to a few.
We middle class and below give life blood so that those above us can have the best.
We are the ones who are “COUNTRY FIRST” and we will fight for HER!

The McCain campaign’s banner should say “Palin First”. Palin = 0. She’s a Dummy. She can’t speak to the press, doesn’t read the papers and McCain doesn’t consult her before making decisions. She’s only good for reading teleprompters and looking at Russia from her house.

McCain says he will put country first what part of the country after they have divided it up,they have been so racist in this campaign with all the makings of their trying to depict Obama and the democrats as socialist and some of everything else. This is a group of people that sound like they are in left field. They are really saying and doing anything to try and win.Now he uses Joe the plummer first Cindy was using everyone elses recipes without permission then they use songs without permission but they cannot use one original idea of their own.

Rock On….McCain! Obummer has only put himself first in every example. He lost me with his “Prince of Unity” persona and attending Wright’s church for 20 years. OPRAH HAD THE GOOD SENSE TO LEAVE WITHIN ONE YEAR! SHE KNEW IT WOULD LOSE HER VIEWERS/DOLLARS.
McCain has taken the high road in not rolling Wright out again and the BO campaing should be on their news in thanks. McCain stayed true in accepting public financing as Obama promised (both to be given 87 million to run a campaign)….Obama lied AGAIN.
McCain has AGAIN AND AGAIN put his country before his campaign, and thought Wright would incite racial discord. I say remind Americans of this MENTOR/”OLD UNCLE” who hates America, whites and Jews…..JUST AS LOUIS FARRAKHAN does(another BO endorser who Hillary forced Obama to denounce). Wake up America!
HILLARY SUPPORTER FOR McCAIN!!!!

Well then McCain just gave a great argument to vote against him. If he has been fighting for change his whole career, he has proven himself to be a miserable failure. Unless he is taking credit for the gigantic corrupt mess Washington is today.
His whole campaign is run by LOBBYISTS, this man is not about change. He has run a schizophrenic campaign full of sleaze.
Anyone who votes for McCain is a tool.

Why is McCain even in Iowa? He does not have a chance of winning that state.
He wastes times and money like crazy. Not a great endorsement for how he will run our country.

John McCain did not put country first, he choose Sarah Palin as his VP. If McCain dies today she cannot run this country, however, if Obama dies today Biden is ready to be President.

For once I would like McCain to tell us how his policies will be different from George Bush’s.
Had McCain and Bush had it their way, social security would have been, in part, privatized. McCain’s tax cuts for the wealthy are the same as Bush’s. And more corporate welfare from McCain.
In addition, McCain is even more extreme on foreign policy, wanting to kick out Russia from the G8 and McCain’s plan to create a of League of Democracies to eventually replace the United Nations.
Posted by: cincyr | October 19, 2008, 4:07 pm 4:07 pm
This is for Randy. Should Obama die just think about Biden being President. In the primaries he only received 9600 votes. That should say what kind of President he would be. He can not seem to keep his mouth shut when needed. By the way, Biden is no spring chicken himself. Just think, should Biden have an early death then look who would be our great leader. Nancy the one who has a plastic face.

Country First.
[people with] COUNTRY [estates] FIRST.
McCain’s path to victory is not via Ayers or Wright or Obama’s middle name. It is solely through Joe the Plumber and convincing those of us at or below the median that we will see some tangible benefits from the plan.

Was just watching people at a McCain cheering wildly as McC4P announced he was NOT George Bush.
1) Sad that even core republicans find it necessary to cheer their candidate for distancing himself from their incumbent
2) Interesting that past the ‘one liner’, McC4P has trouble really differentiating himself from Bush … people just aren’t seeing the diff … the commentator last week who described McC4P as running as W’s older brother may not have been far from the mark
Posted by: OneObservation | October 19, 2008, 6:51 pm 6:51 pm
John McCain has done nothing but undermine Bush the entire time he was in office. He was down right obstreperous most of the time. He was to darn nice to the liberals in congress. He formed the gang of 14 and worked against his own party; he sponsored the amnisty bill; McCain-Fiengold, etc. I was never a fan of McCain, he is really a moderate rather than a conservative. McCain was battered by conservatives and on conservative talk radio. In exchange for cooperating and being nice to the liberals in congress he was compared to Bush. This was not fair, dishonest and wrong. Obama’s attacks have unified the republican party against the socialist party.

I’m putting my country first and voting Obama. When McCain chose Palin as his VP, he put John McCain first and the country last. He should be ashamed of himself and the disgraceful way he’s run his campaign, claiming to be different than Bush while hiring Bush’s old swift-boaters to spread lies and stir up hatred.

Yet another sign of McCain’s descent into madness.
Iowa REJECTED the Iraq War!
Were you not watching when Iowa handed Hillary Clinton’s axx to her during the primaries… because of her vote for the war?
Okay then. Knowing that. Seeing that. What makes you think Iowa would swing your way?
Iowa is not a battleground. You have NO CHANCE of winning Iowa.
Why are you spending money there? Why are you wasting time there. Why are you wasting energy there?
Colin Powell, was correct in his assessment of your unfortunate judgement, Senator McCain.
