New Direction vs. Experience (and an Early Voting Update)
With the economy proving far scarier to voters this Halloween than the threat of terrorism or the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, likely voters are looking more for new ideas and a new direction than an experienced hand – though it is a close call.
Just fewer than half, 48 percent in the latest ABC News/Washington Post tracking poll, say new ideas and a new direction are more important in their choice for president than strength and experience. Slightly fewer, 43 percent, say the opposite.
That tilts the advantage to Barack Obama, given the sharp difference in vote choice. He wins 90 percent of “new ideas” voters, while 86 percent of “experience” voters go to John McCain.
The preferences split largely along party lines. Seventy-seven percent of Republicans – the party that sent a war hero and longtime senator into battle for the presidency – say they prefer a strong, experienced candidate. About as many Democrats – whose party nominated a relative newcomer largely on his promise of change – focus on a new direction and new ideas. And independents divide down the middle.
Even with this division, Obama passes muster on experience with a majority of likely voters, his greatest vulnerability earlier in the campaign, and a point on which McCain has tried hard to make progress. Fifty-five percent say Obama’s experienced enough to serve effectively as president, essentially steady since Oct. 11. It cracked 50 percent for the first time on Sept. 29, just after the first presidential debate.
Nonetheless, it’s still a close call in some key groups. Independents, for example, divide by 51-46 percent on whether Obama’s experienced enough for the job.
…and an Early Voting Update
Separately, our latest tracking poll data find that one in six likely voters has done the deed, and as many say they will between now and Election Day. Their preference: Obama by a substantial margin.
Seventeen percent now say they’ve already voted, favoring Obama over John McCain by 59-40 percent. An additional 18 percent say they’ll do so before Tuesday, for a possible total of 35 percent voting early or by absentee ballot. That would be a record by far, well above its levels in 2004 and 2000 alike, 22 and 15 percent, respectively.
Obama’s wide margin among early voters reflects his campaign’s push; likely voters who plan instead to hold off until Election Day divide much more closely, 50-45 percent. And while state-level reports match the high numbers reflected in this poll, it remains to be seen whether long lines at early-voting locations depress some of that anticipated turnout.
Obama’s edge among early voters is particularly broad – better than a 2-1 margin – in the 16 battleground states and eight toss-up states as designated by our Political Unit. And intended early voting, that 35 percent total, peaks in some pro-Obama groups – among blacks and Hispanics, city dwellers and in the West. It’s also high among seniors, a more divided group.

I think you’re going to be highly disappointed on election day. I know the media has pushed for an OBama win but I don’t believe the American people will elect this unknown. The world is too scary right now and his changes are going to devistate America, not help us.

The thing that is most bizarre about the election map is that McCain’s own state is only *leaning towards him. To me, that says the people that “really know anything about him”, are skeptical about voting for McCain (possibly due to *his poor associations).
Oh the irony!

How about the ability to be open to varying points of view and ideas? How about intelligence? How about not following the same economic philosophy that had made the rich richer while the rest of us fall behind? How about a leader that will be respected by and respectful of the rest of the world so America can be a partner for good again?

These polls are so skewed. If they polled my N Texas county, they’d find it 55+ for McCain/Palin. So, it just goes to show, you can make the polls say whatever you want. If you’re a McCain/Palin supporter, ignore the polls and the main stream media propaganda and vote.

I have noticed a stark change in Republican campaigning in the last two weeks. Now, they campaign only on fear. We have had enough fear. We should fear only the prospect of not changing our direction. If 70% of Americans feel we are on the wrong track, they better vote for change.
I voted for Obama.

deanbob,
That seems to be what you guys do best — ignore the facts.
Ignore the news that pointed out that “Joe the Plumber” didn’t pay taxes, but McCain thinks he’s the perfect citizen to add to his campaign.
Ignore the fact that the “conservative”, “pro waste reduction” RNC spent $150K on Sarah Palin’s wardrobe in one month.
Ignore the fact that McCain will tax healtcare benefits for the first time in U.S. history.
I do agree that mainstream news is not presented by Hannity or Limbaugh; they are entertainment shows, not news.
I encourage everyone to read, watch, surf for and pay attention to the news. Both sides have been presented.
Choose wisely.

Two canidates. One focused, consistant,
shown great campaine and finance management. The other all over the place. Very nonconsistant, very poor campaine management. Makes choices like Palin. Look at the two temperments. Now tell me McCain would be better in the White House.

I really think they have shown both about equal. The political ads may be more for Obama, but don’t be so jealous. If your canidate had the same amount of money, he would do the same and his ads have been much more dirty than Obama’s. I voted for George Bush, but I will not support a canidate who ran such a dirty campaign.

THANK YOU ABC. The MSM is trying to discourage McCain/Palin supporters from voting. People – wake up and GO VOTE. I get after my family and friends on a daily basis. Do the same! If you think your 401k is bad now, just wait until THE ONE is elected. Who would want to invest in an America that has higher taxes, unions and redistribution of wealth policies? If Obama is elected, you can kiss your retirement good bye. The market will go down, and higher capital gain taxes will take care of the rest.

Sarah Palin has more executive experience than either Obama or Biden. She was governor of a state and successfully negotiated a favorable contract with oil companies. Remember your high gas prices? She can help. Obama’s tax the rich policies will hurt all of us. Coporations that have to pay higher taxes under the Obama plan in a time when revenues are declining have lower earnings. This means more layoffs, no growth of the economy, and lower stock prices in our 401k plans. This is simple economics and Obama doesn’t understand it. No Experience. Not ready to be President.

The true mettle of a man is not how he reacts when everything is going well. It is how he acts when things are going wrong. Mr. McCain has not been acting as I thought he would. I expected him to explain his agenda, to run a clean campaign especially seeing what George Bush/Karl Rove did to him in the past. He has sorely disappointed me.

To you who says the whole world is rooting for Obama. Read Daniel and Revelations in the Bible. “For one will come that with his words will deceive many, even the elect.” Then let me know if you are still blind. Christians understand the economic, moral and social devastation that policies like Obama’s will have on our nation and yes, possibly the world. In the end times a leader will come who will appear to be able to save the world but instead will destroy it. Is Obama that man? Only God knows but I will not vote for anyone resembling that man. I have been forwarned by God and have my eyes wide open.

Sherrie,
“This is simple economics and Obama doesn’t understand it.”
You are correct about one thing — it is *simple minded. The facts show otherwise, but Rush and Hannity won’t tell you that.
Look up economic growth AND stock market statistics covering both republican and democratic administrations. You’ll find that stocks, jobs, wealth and everything else economy-related has consistently faired better under Democratic administrations.

Whatever happened to common sense in politics? The federal government was not designed to manage social affairs. It attempted to assist elderly with Medicare and social security and failed! It attempted to reform American schooling and failed! It attempted to provide welfare and again failed! Each of these “entitlement” programs is wasting millions of dollars each year. Most are projected to run out of money within 25 years and all need to be overhauled. The federal government is NOT the right solution for social problems! Do we really want to incur more tax burdens and trust the federal government with managing our health system?
Obama wants to take more of our money and redistribute it to more programs. The problem is, our existing programs are not properly funded and poorly implemented. We expect this inexperienced senator and 535 congress members to get all these new programs right? They couldn’t even pass an economic rescue plan without attaching more pork spending to it! We cannot manage our current Medicare, social security, education, and welfare programs – do we really want our federal government to take on more programs?
How did we ever survive in the past without federal government intervention?? =) The best solutions for helping our poor and needy come through local charity and community and state organizations. These are focused on relief of their people and they do not suffer as much from the excessive waste and mismanagement problems ($$) of our national government.
I cannot vote for a team that irresponsibly throws around free-bees the way Obama is. He wants to throw more money at everything. It’s easy to make promises like that, but impossible to finance them – or to implement them effectively in the federal government. Quit dreaming. I cannot vote for Obama.

Obama is already backpedaling. He is now saying that people are expecting too much from him, and he can’t possibly deliver on all his promises for HOPE and CHANGE that he has been promising, because of the economy. LOL..
The economy didn’t get this way overnight, and he has been making these promises for months now, so why the sudden change. He knows that if he gets in office all of his LIES will be exposed.

Many in Ohio including my husband and I are voting McCain. I was a Hillary supporter and we strongly feel that the democratic party did whatever possible to ensure her defeat. We all forget Michigan and Florida and Howard Deans rules that penalized these states. This secured Obama’s noimination. The dems did not want Hillary so they stacked what they could against her. That is where they lost me and many others. I also voted democratically since I’ve been a registerd voter. (not because of pro-choice either) My party thinks I don’t pay attention to ALL that has gone on in the last two years. I see another attempt to push women out and stiffle us. I will not tolerate it. Vote McCain!

Damon: “The federal government was not designed to manage social affairs.” Federal Governments can and do manage health care and education programs in other countries and does it very well. If you have a concern re: poor facilitation and management, well that’s another matter. But it can be done very well. Vote for who you want, more money has been thrown away under Bush administration than any other administration than I can remember. He inherited a sizeable surplus and is leaving us with historic levels of debt. Our “social affairs” as you call them have been mismanaged. Our education, health care and social security have all gone backwards. We can either vote to change the situation or vote to keep going along the same disastrous road that has brought us to this point. And No, it couldn’t get worse under Obama. I can see what lies at the end of the road we are on – most of us can – ANY attempt at change would be better than continuing along on this path. As it happens, Obama will be a great and welcome change.

So reviewing the two types of commenter’s here really say’s it all
First group – You have the Obama supporters – full of hope and promise – a bright new day for America – something new
Second group – You have the McCain supporters – full of bland ideology with no real substance – but a lot of negative emotion, mostly fear, anger, worry – pretty much what we have had the last 8 years.
So if you look at it you don’t have to judge the poor choice or zero message from McCain, the fact that Joe the unlicensed tax owing, never earned $250K but I am token worker guy – and now am part of the McCain inner circle – giving Mr. Experience advice. How many more Joe the Plumber decisions can we afford?
So you don’t have to think about the fact that McSame has no real plan except to attack Obama (and God knows who else he’ll attack)
All you really have to do is ask yourself do you want a bright new future in America? Or do you want to extend this dark chapter in our history with more of the McSame –
Vote for a bright new future – Vote for Obama

McCain is a good man. However, he has a reputation as a maverick. He seems to be proud of it. But he is known as a maverick because of his tendency to go against common wisdom. His military career, his personal life, his political life and this presidential campaign are marred by his impulsive decisions that cause him to be known as a maverick. His traits that cause him to be known as a maverick have worked against him in campaigning and would work against the country if he became president. He is trying to sell the country a large pile of horse hockey, by claiming being a maverick is a desirable characteristic. I have a bunch of mavericks in my family . They cause trouble.

They have McCain up 49% to 47% in Florida and the Democrats have made up 58%, Republicans 32% and 10% independent in the voting. This just shows the polls are not to be trusted. People are finding out how much Obama has lied during the 2 year campaign. Just like now his running mate is saying $150k is rich. Ayers, Rev. This country needs change. In case you haven’t looked at the last eight years…we are in a recession or as your president calls it “a slowdown.” America really should be ashamed of the way it treats its own citizens. Remember if one of us isn’t free, then none of us is free. Those who feel that they are automatically “entitled” just because of the color of their skin is crazy. I’ve had it…the haves seem to be perfectly ok with the have nots having none. It’s unbalanced. I live in a county that has TWO different cirriculums; for the mostly white is one cirriculum and then the mostly black is another….THAT’S NOT FAIR! It’s one county Fulton County GA! Why is there a need for a difference. This explains how you end up with the haves/have nots. They obviously cant be enslaved in chains but they can certainly enslave the minds. Its time for a change!

Amanda: I voted for Obama. I’m more interested in policies than the gender or race of the candidate. I’m a woman, but I don’t get wrapped up in needing to vote a female in. It has to depend on who the female is – Palin, for example, is not a person I could vote for. I don’t like her tactics or her politics. I like Hillary but my allegiance is to which ever party will do the best for the Country. Hillary and Bill have both come out in support of Obama, and that’s great. Clearly, Hillary would prefer the Dem. win. I can’t think why any Dem would want to vote GOP – especially in this election! But that’s your choice. All the best with it.

Susan-1, do you not really understand how Hilary lost the bid in the primary? Busloads of Obama supporters from chicago were bussed into neighboring states. They crashed the caususes in iowa and other nearby states, stole ballots, locked the doors in some cases to keep hilary supporters out, and generally stole the votes from her. Then they loaded back up on the buses and went back to chicago. Lots of complaints were filed with the elections commission but nothing was done about it. The information is out there for anyone who wants to know the truth. You cartainly won’t ever read about it on ABC.

Mr. Florida (above) – Why is it you and the Republicans call everyone names who do not consume your dark ideology? If by Liberal you mean honest, hard working, bright future seeking, tired of the Republicans “Dark Empire”, those of us (Veterans like myself) who disagree with the Republicans on war and economics –
We certainly disagree with the Republican Fear sales Job – we are not buying it anymore
And Florida – guess what – I am not a foreigner – I am 5th generation American – a second generation Veteran – and I am a US Patriot.
Obama is going to a great president – you’ll just have to get used to us giving away 10 Billion in education or medical care a month instead of 10 billion for a War.
Yes Mr. Florida I am right here in your back yard – across the street, I am all over your neighborhood – I am white, educated, male and I am voting to unshackle my Country from the Dark Empire the Republicans would have us become.
Florida will be solid Blue -

Hey Lily,
I am thinking with my head. That is why almost two years ago I fairly looked at our democratic choices. I even looked into their backgrounds and who they are. I did not know who Obama was, so I went to reputable sources including the voting history from the senate. I probably know more about Obama then you. I’m not racist or sexist or just voting for abortion rights. This is about experience, security, taxes, and the economy…to name a few. People think McCain will die in office and Palin would be in charge. Why is McCain more vunerable then Obama. Two awful people were arrested recently for already plotting against Obama. Both men are mortals. McCains age has no bearing. Think what you want about Palin but Biden is no great pick either. What was Obama thinking. This election would have been a sure bet with Hillary and her 18 million supporters. I guess we’ll find out Tuesday night!

Good post Chester. Maybe they should just try saying out loud into the mirror what they are about to post. If they can do it with a straight face – without cracking up or having to look away because its a bold faced lie – then hit “POST”. Otherwise know this – you are entertaining a whole lot of folks so at least that’s something!

JimInFlBlueState Again Obama talks about all these programs but where is he going to get the money to have these programs. Oh wait Biden now says $150K a year is rich. I wonder how low this number will go before we are done. Obama has voted for tax increases evertime he voted. He is now going to remove the Bush tax cut and this will almost double what I am paying now in taxes and no I am not rich and don’t make close to $150k but I work for what I have and don’t want handouts. My co-workers are saying they are going to quit work if Obama is elected because there would be nothing to strive for when they can get free handouts.

The relaible news networks (yes there are a few left) are already reporting that Obama is waffling on his promises. He is saying now that he needs to let his supporters know that with the economy in a mess, he will not be able to deliver his promises, and that people should not have too high expectations of what he can actually do. Didn’t his campaign advisers bother to tell him to wait until after the election before letting his followers know he was lying to them all along?
Posted by: mom | October 31, 2008, 9:35 am 9:35 am
mah: Obama isn’t kidding. The change is what we are voting for and the change is what we will get. The ‘expectations’ that are referred to in this article are those people who think Obama will be able to solve all the problems overnight. I think most of us are aware that it took nearly a decade to make the mess, it’ll take time to fix it. McCain, on the other hand, can’t fix it. He wouldn’t have to dampen expectations – he hasn’t inspired any :) :) :)

I’m soooo tired of the Republicans and their last minute frantic scare tactics. Now it’s Khalidi…hey McCain distributed several grants in the 1990s to the PalestinianResearch Ctr co-founded by Khalidi….Give me a break!
If that’s all they have is scare tactics, all I can say is MCCAIN/PALIN
SCARES ME!!!!
Obama is NOT a terrorist nor a Muslin, although even if he were a Muslin there are plenty of good ones too. You cannot lump all people into one catagory. People did not want to vote for Kennedy because he was Catholic!
If we would have stuck to the issues when Bush was running we wouldn’t have this idiot in the White House ruining our country. He is in CHARGE….look what happened under his watch! Now THAT’S SCARY!

Number one – I am sick of hearing ‘blah blah the last 8 years’….pretty sure the economy hasn’t been this way for the last eight years. Number two – have you never heard of checks and balances….stop blaming everything on Bush, the democrats have control of congress…ironically they took over when things started getting ugly Number three – Subprime lending (which I’m sure numerous of you don’t even know what that is because there is numerous uneducated voters just stating back what they heard in the media but not having any knowledge on any political topic…) anyways..subprime lending started being heavily encouraged during the Clinton administration now Bush was left with cleaning up the aftermath….. God help us if Obama is elected, at least I will be able to say I told you so when he runs this nation into the dirt.

You remember all those deer in the headlights looks from all those bankers and investors a few weeks ago? Very few saw it coming, the problem was they were to close to it.
Just like them Americans are to close to it and have let hate rule their vote. It was hate that brought the “Rights” to office in the first place after Clinton”s swing to the left with a democrat congress. Now we swing even farther to the left, which will backfire and swing us even farther to the the right. Will you be one of those with that Deer in the headlights look? Or is that what YOU want chaos?

Franklin Roosevelt started social security (S/S) with the money to be put into an Independent trust fund with the promise that it would never be taxed. Then in 1963 President Johnson decided it should go into the “General Fund” where congress could use it. During Clinton’s presidency they started taxing S/S with Al Gore making the deciding vote in congress. Then during Carters administration he decided to give immigrants moving to this country S/S payments, when they had never even paid into the system. All this was done by DEMOCRATIC CONTROLLED administrations and congress…………….. NOW, if the democrats win the majority in congress and the presidency what do you think they will give away this time, after they take more of your taxes? This is the REDISTRIBUTION of wealth that Obama is talking about. I don’t know about you but, I have worked hard all my life for what I have now, only for it to be given away to others, NO WAY!!! NO OBAMA

Senator has the best credentials for being President. No candidate, unless he is an incumbent, has Presidential experience, so that is a non-argument. Senator Obama has Leadership Experience, Organizational Experience, Management Experience, and has run a brilliant campaign. McCain has only been a Senator since he left the military: Lead Nothing; Managed Nothing; and his campaign is shameful.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years.
Great nations rise and fall. The people go from bondage to spiritual truth, to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back again to bondage.

In my Humble Opinion, here is a Fundamental Difference between Obama’s voters and McCain supporters:
Obama’s voters pay greater attention to RHETORIC and its PRESENTATION. They believe in REDISTRIBUTION of WEALTH and Entitlement. They are NOT CONCERN with registration FRAUD or Obama’s FRIENDS that PREACHED HATE toward America, Whites and Jews. They think it is O.K. to HANG a WHITE WOMAN as a Halloween decoration, just because they disagree with her politically. They believe in larger government.
McCain supporters judge a man based on CHARACTER, INTEGRITY, JUDGMENT, EXPERIENCE and Ability to Walk ACROSS the AISLE. They believe that the job Does Not Lend itself to on the Job Training. They believe in Free Markets and FREE and UNBIASED PRESS. They believe that the Government is a Problem and a Solution. And more importantly, THEY KNOW that YOU CANNOT HELP MEN PERMANENTLY, BY DOING FOR THEM WHAT THEY COULD AND SHOULD, DO FOR THEMSELVES.
“Faced with crisis, the man of character falls back upon himself.”

I’m sorry, but we really don’t know that much about Sen. Obama. I was so excited about this guy in the beginning of the campaign, but the more I hear about his past relationships, the more concerned I have become. I just want to know more about him before I decide to put him in the White House. His minister, Rev. Wright, who has known Sen. Obama for over 20 years, stated in April that Sen. Obama was a politican and would say anything to get elected. I figure this guy knows him better than we do. (And notice Rev. Wright seemed to disappear after that statement). I’m sorry, but I had to change my mind. I just want to know more about him and hopefully he will get my vote in 2012 if he proves to be as great as he says he is.

I have a comment for Sue, who choose to recite from the Bible. I foind it rather odd that you chose compare that Bible verse to Obama. How often in the history of presidency have they made promises that weren’t kept? How many officials have you voted for that have changed their focus to personal gain? That was a really impulsive comparison, but so very common of a McCain supporter. He’s as impulsive as Palin is blank. You can vote for them if you like, but don’t bleach the truth from the Bible to compensate for your choice.
God Bless Obama and these United States

By 1995, then President Clinton touted the fact that home-ownership in America was at an all-time high. According to Kurtz, ACORN representatives were guests of honor at this ceremony. (Note to McCain campaign: can you dig up that footage??)
But as Kurtz goes on: “At both the local and national levels, then, ACORN served as the critical catalyst, levering pressure created by the Community Reinvestment Act and pull with Democratic politicians to force Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac into a pattern of high-risk loans. Up to now, conventional wisdom on the financial meltdown has relegated ACORN and the CRA to bit parts…In fact, however, ACORN is at the base of the whole mess…And Barack Obama cut his teeth as an organizer and

Obama did not have an association with ACORN, he had an active COLLABORATION, as counsel and as trainer of new ACORN nuts. This DOES matter to voters, it speaks to his character and what he believes in. His birth certificate is sealed in Hawaii and announced the day after he left Hawaii. He is a socialist and tries to call it a label, it is a fact, and backed up by his close association with Marxists and other do no gooders. His college records are sealed. There are large gaps in his resume, that apparently do not bother Democrats in the least. Obama has the least experience, even compared to Governor Palin, and he is at the top of the Democratic ticket. He certainly talks the talk, but he is not going to walk the walk. It is a sad day in our republic when oratory trumps common sense and credibility. Luckily, a lot of Democrats have now crossed over to McCain/Palin, including the editor of our local newspaper, who is also the Chairman of the Democratic Party in this county. Maybe other Americans are awakening to the threat of an Obama presidency to our nation. I have already cast my vote for McCain/Palin 2008.

Taxing my social security and giving S/S to illegal immigrants is the last straw. That is not the S/S Roosevelt had in my when he created it.

We lost the chance of a democratic presidency when the idiots put Sen. Hillary Clinton out of the race. Too bad!
Now we are stuck with an inexperienced politician whose past and present close friendships with hateful anti-American people will be a major factor in the voting booth. It saddens me to do it, but I will be voting for the Republican ticket on November 4.
At least, in my own opinion, John McCain is a true American who will never compromise the values and security of our great nation.
We need a president who is and has always been proud of USA and who, under no circumstances, belittles or bad-mouths my country as Obama, his wife, and his pastor do.
We need a president –democrat or republican– who is a tested leader and who instills American greatness and pride in our children. That leader is John McCain.
I will never vote for a shady and an inexperienced politician like Obama just for the sake of party loyalty. Party loyalty went out of the doors when the democratic party leaders kicked out our candidate, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and replaced her with Barack Hussein Obama. It was a stupid thing to do for them but, at least, we have a good alternative in John McCain.

Deanbob – and others – first of all I said I was educated – unlike your feeble arguments – born in desperation.
Boys and Girls it’s all about choices and the Republicans have been making really bad choices
First Cuba – I grew up with Cuba American best friend – still friends – love Cuba –
But Cuba like Iraq – needs to find their own voice in freedom – we can help – like the velvet revolutions of the Eastern Europe – but in the end having the Military march in – gather a caucus of people – stage elections – have them cut and paste Tomas Jefferson great document into their own MS Word template – it does not work – unless we provide a military surge – but guess what do any of you think Iraq will not fall into complete anarchy when we “Unsurge”. – They like American soldier’s as much as the Bostonians like the British in our revolution.
Our revolution worked because the people rich and poor, fought for it – Cuba needs to rise up – the Cuban’s in America whining about it but lacking the backbone to infiltrate and cause it to happen – they server no one – and Cuba’s politics should not dictate ours – I love Cuba –
Second Taxes – You would have me think that McCain has no Tax plan himself – McCain’s TAX plan is take from the middle give to the rich –
Let me say that again – McCain’s TAX plan is take from the middle give to the rich.
And if that would work I would be all for it – except that the middle has nothing to take – so like his choice in Joe & Failin his ideas about Tax and not spend suck too
If nobody has a job what are you going to tax then?

Wow is all I can say to those of you that are seriously trying to tell rational Americans that we would be better of with McCain McSame. If his horrific campaign and selection of VP running mate was not a turnoff then his lack of a consistent campaign platfrom and message certainly should make you wonder.
Obama on the other hand ran an outstanding campaign with a consistent message and selected “ready for the presidency” VP selection. His campaign has set records and and will serve as the model for campaigning in the 21 century.
And yes, his personal story, focus on serving the needs of all Americans should be praised not bashed. If what you learned about Obama upbringing, commitment to serve his community when he could have focused on what would have been a financially lucrative career you walking aroundd with blinders on. This is a good man, not perfect, that will do right by the American people.
All to often we do not appreciate are fellow man when they are standing right in front of us. I am old enough to know and remember that as much as we celebrate and give acculades to MLK now he was critized and hated in his day. And not saying Obama is a MLK now, but that man, if given the opportunity will do great things for the American people and our Nation. So keep it real, if you don’t like him cause he’s black or not republican, just say so. And stop trying to say its cause his not experienced enough, no president operates in a vacumn. What he lacks in experience, he overcomes with intelligence, temperament, judgement and sense purdent rather then urgent execution.
The only fear anyone should have is if we get another 4 years that will resemble 90% of the last 8 years…fear that!

McCain has absolutely no way to win aside from spreading FUD about Obama. Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt, that’s all he has left. Glad to see it isn’t working. I’m still surprised that the Dems have left Palin alone, but impressed that the media has helped the public see the real Sarah Palin. Having people like McCain supporter Eagleburger admit that Palin isn’t ready helps do the job for the democrats.

Here’s the truth…
If your for John McCain then if you make
18,000 a year (a little more than minumum wage) you will get a tax break of about $160.00 just enough to buy a nice dinner out…
If you make $250,000 up to 350,000
John McCain is going to give you a tax break of over $10,000 dollars….
If your rich and want to be richer then he is your man…
But for me and my house… I do not make anything close to that and never have… and the truth is, that as long as Corporate America is allowed to pay its workers “tidbits” to get them to do the majority of work in this country and then the majority of the profits go to the CEO’s and CFO’s then they will always pay you nothing to collect millions on the other end.
American Workers need a living wage so that people like single mothers don’t have to work 5 jobs just to make ends meet, while the people at the top collect all the benifits of my work.
Then when their business fails they have their hand out to collect my taxes to bail them out ??
No I do not want another Republican in office..
I Voted Early and I Voted for Obama.

I dont care what the polls say- what people “say” and “do” are two different things. Unfortunately, I do not have enough confidence in American voters. (How in the world did we re-elect a president who FAILED the first term??) After that fiasco, nothing shocks me. Call me a pessimist, but I do believe much of America will be disheartened. I hope I’m wrong.

To; Common Sense. Your facts speak well of the Republican economic policies. Thank you.We all need to understand that
1)The current economic problem began with the Clinton Administration. Clinton, a Democrat, was the President who pushed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to make substandard loans to people who should have been renters and not owners. The Bush Administration, a Republican, is paying for it.
2) Reagonomics in the 80′s was highly successful. President Reagan, a Republican, benefited George Bush SR, also a Republican and then came Clinton, a Democrat who created the international financial crisis.
And you want to vote for Obama?

Lily,
My real estate career is great. As a agent for 11 years I know how to ride this tide. We are still selling and buying here. My income has doubled from last year. You must be talking to the wrong people. The news media maybe where you get your info. They make it out to be horrible…this is not the truth. There are some areas like Florida and Nevada where homeowners have seen a 37% loss in value. This is not the truth everywhere. We have areas in my own community that are gaining. Ohio has seen a 15% drop on average but not everywhere. Many investors are also flooding the market and new homeowners are taking advantage of their good credit and getting the best deals ever! Real estate is doing just fine and we are already seeing a rebound. So Lily, know what you are talking about before you blab your mouth.

She didnt abuse her power, read first hand why she went through legal channels to get rid of her brother in law.
Obama and Biden are the scary ones. I pray to god that they lose by a landslide. Just say no to evil and vote against Obama and Biden.

lily -Do not get on here and say your Catholic and your supporting Obama. Did the church not teach you that abortion goes againt everything Catholics believe in or are you one who only follows the teachings that you want to follow? Not only does Obama support abortions, he also voted against the infant protection act in Illinois, if you don’t know what it is, research it. He also supports late term abortions. Yep, that’s the guy I want running this country, someone who does not value life in it’s purest form. That’s one reason I won’t vote for Obama, there are many others, like he has pledged to slow our development of combat weapons, my husband is in the military, his life depends on those combat systems. He will also not continue to give the military pay raises they deserve, he can spout off at the mouth about how he supports the military, but I see right through him as I saw through Clinton. Democrats think if they give military members a pay raise of $15 a month that we should be thankful, when in fact the cost of living went up around $150 a month. Under a Republican President we finally have military families not being able to qualify for food stamps because they are being paid a much better salary, under Obama we will soon find ourselves back in the food stamp line. Obama BAD FOR MILITARY FAMILIES!!!!

deanbob – The most blatant example of “socialism” is in the state of Alaska where the citizens do not pay state income tax nor do they pay property tax. Do you know why? Big oil companies are taxed so heavily that the revenue is used to pay for “social services”… infact, over the last couple of years, Gov. Palin has been able to “spread the wealth” of these companies to every Alaskan resident in the form of an “energy rebate”. Dude– you can’t get more “marxist”/”socialist” than that!!! But you sound like a typical Repug who is more committed to espousing rhetoric than facing reality!

Making sure Student Loans are available? Strengthening the tarnished image of the US to the world? Bringing the Iraq war to a safe close? Hunting down Bin Laden? Imposing regulations on the out-of-control banking system? Helping people who are struggling with their health care options? WHAT, what could you possibly live in fear of? I think you need to stop chanting the chants of fear, and read and listen to what’s being said. You’re not, definitely not safer with a man who’s answer to everything is war. McCain’s attitudes are the attitudes of the Bush administration – if you’re not like us, you’re ‘less than’ us, and we do not need to treat you with respect – we’ll TELL you what to do, or we’ll “bomb, bomb, bomb you” (and then, my dear, if you’ve ever read history, we’ll be in WWIII, which will be more severe and devastating than the first two put together. THEN you will be justifiably scared.

Attention: No One to Party Rule:
McCain supporters only care about their money. Maverick? Please! He is way too impulsive to make any strong well-planned decisions. He can’t even get through a moment in the campaign without bashing Obama. If he were such a man of Character, Integrity, Judgement and Experience, then he would be able to stay focused on the issues of the American people – not spending crucial campaign time to say what his opponent can’t do. This is a tactic used when you have nothing to offer. The only thing he has over Obama, is being a POW. But then again WE ARE ALL PRISONERS OF THIS WAR THAT MCCAIN VOTED FOR! At the time of crisis, a true man of character may fall back on himself, but YOUR MAN will just fall.
And as far as him being able to walk across the aisle, GET OVER IT! HE CAN BARELY WALK!! Are you kidding me?????

According to Bill Clinton, Obama told Bill Clinton’s adviser during the economy crisis hearings “give me an idea of what to say, I will sell it, let me worry about that”.
Barrack Hussein is too shifty and he has clearly shown to be Marxist with the goal of “spreading the wealth” of hard working voters and friends with “Mr. PLO” Rashid Khalidi.
Don’t trust the socialist media polls or ACORN polls, they poll only “undecided voters” which are basically just marxist democrats with no backbones.
I used to deliver pizzas, and noticed the mayority of blacks did not tip, unless you were a black delivery person. This shows blacks to have the evil spirit of racism, which I believe was inherited from the “whiteys” that they hate so much.
What we should fear is black racism. Racism by whites toward blacks have reduced in America, (reason why the polls show a tight race) but now we have reverse racism from the blacks. Racism is evil no matter from whom and towards whom it is. I’ve noticed many whites are scared to put McCain-Palin stickers on their cars because the blacks might burn their cars or kill them out of anger.
Barrack Hussein will not win, because of all the other ethnic voters who have experienced and seen the Racism by Blacks with their racist attitudes in society and movies. No, they will not vote for Barrack Hussein, who is a racist along with Oprah, FarraKKKan, rev Wright, Michelle “I hate Whiteys” Obama, Spike Lee, Malcom X, Black Panthers, black comedians, hip-hop and rap non-artists like Ludacris, etc.)
We all know that Hispanics, Asians, women, and whites just “SAY” they will vote for Barrack Hussein just so the blacks won’t show them their angry faces, violent behaviours, and direct foul words at them.
GOD BLESS AMERICA (not God D@! AmeriKKKa)

The sudden financial crisis and the prospect of a deep and painful recession have increased the urgency inside the Obama team to bring people down to earth, after a campaign in which his soaring rhetoric and promises of “hope” and “change” are now confronted with the reality of a stricken economy.
One senior adviser told The Times that the first few weeks of the transition, immediately after the election, were critical, “so there’s not a vast mood swing from exhilaration and euphoria to despair.”

McCain Funded Work Of Palestinian His Campaign Hopes To Tie To Obama
stumble digg reddit del.ico.us news trust mixx.com
October 28, 2008 04:34 PM
Read More: Barack Obama, Conservatives, John McCain, Obama Connections, Rashid Khalidi, William Ayers,
The latest guilt-by-association target that the McCain campaign is using to hit Barack Obama could carry some collateral damage for its own candidate.
As Politico’s Ben Smith reported on Tuesday, the McCain campaign is demanding that the Los Angeles Times release video in its possession of a party attended by Barack Obama and Columbia University professor Rashid Khalidi.
“A major news organization is intentionally suppressing information that could provide a clearer link between Barack Obama and Rashid Khalidi,” said McCain spokesman Michael Goldfarb, citing Obama’s friendship with Khalidi, who is now a professor at Columbia University.
The McCain camp gambit comes after conservative writers have repeatedly pressed for media outlets to write about the rather tenuous connections between Obama and Khalidi, an outspoken advocate for Palestinian rights.
Specifically, National Review writers want much more attention paid to the association, given that the LA Times has reported that Khalidi lavished praise on Obama at a farewell party in Chicago at which Bill Ayers was also present. (Other writers have accused Khalidi of being an aide to Yasser Arafat, a claim which Marc Ambinder and Ari Berman have suggested is not credible.)
In regards to Khalidi, however, the guilt-by-association game burns John McCain as well.
During the 1990s, while he served as chairman of the International Republican Institute (IRI), McCain distributed several grants to the Palestinian research center co-founded by Khalidi, including one worth half a million dollars.
A 1998 tax filing for the McCain-led group shows a $448,873 grant to Khalidi’s Center for Palestine Research and Studies for work in the West Bank. (See grant number 5180, “West Bank: CPRS” on page 14 of this PDF.)
The relationship extends back as far as 1993, when John McCain joined IRI as chairman in January. Foreign Affairs noted in September of that year that IRI had helped fund several extensive studies in Palestine run by Khalidi’s group, including over 30 public opinion polls and a study of “sociopolitical attitudes.”
Of course, there’s seemingly nothing objectionable with McCain’s organization helping a Palestinian group conduct research in the West Bank or Gaza. But it does suggest that McCain could have some of his own explaining to do as he tries to make hay out of Khalidi’s ties to Obama.
It’s a shame the neo-cons have had to stoop this low in their do anything to win in the last minute attempts.

He snatched up my money, And quick as a wink, Jumped back on his bandwagon, As I gagged from the stink. He then rallied his henchmen, Who were pulling his cart, I could tell they were out, To tear my country apart! “On Fannie on Freddie, On Biden and Ayers!, On Acorn On Pelosi”, He screamed at the pairs! They took off for his cause, And as he flew out of sight, I heard him laugh at the nation, Who wouldn’t stand up and fight! So I leave you to think, On this one final note-, IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM, GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!

Anti-Repugnicans-When I bring up food stamps, I bring it up to make a point about Democrat Presidents and the military. Under Democrats our military members have qualify for food stamps, that is a damn shame. Not only because I am a military wife, but because our military members that have VOLUNTEERED to serve this country should never have to beg to feed their families!!!! This is something we as a country should not stand for!!! Under a republican administration most military members don’t qualify for food stamps anymore because they are passing budgets that are giving us decent wages. Wages that are helping us feed our families and buy our houses instead of paying someone else to rent.

I’m sorry, but I want to know more about Obama and his past associations before I can give him my vote. There are just too many unanswered questions. If there’s is even a hint that this guy hangs around with questionable people it causes me concern about Obama’s true agenda. I don’t even think the Clinton’s are really voting for this guy from comments Bill has made.

They wanted to give loans to poeple who didn’t even work. This is the same policy that Obama want to go with. Give to the people who don’t want to help themself.

If we had not had an idiot in office, we would have already captured or killed Bin Laden and been done with it, and most likely would not have performed the largest government reorganization debacle since WWII which, despite Bush claiming it to be budget neutral, has cost us $50 billion a year, and has actually made things worse.

I feel the same way, but about McCain.. he is a war monger and I think he could be irrational and short tempered enough to actually spark off the next world war. When people like the former commander of NATO (who know a little about these things and I deeply respect) say:
“McCain will not reverse the foreign policy mistakes of George Bush. He is content to leave us in Iraq, saying it’d be ‘fine by me’ if we were in Iraq for another 100 years. He is rash on using military force with Iran. He overplays the military card and doesn’t seem to appreciate that the real strength of the nation lies in our economy and in our values.”
I tend to listen to the experts who know the man and know his character. Many high ranking officials have said similar things about McCain. While over 50 retired generals and other military officials including Powell all claim that Obama has the right qualifications and attitude to run this country.

I remember someone once said “Carry a big stick and walk softly.” – not to carry a cane and talk loudly! I’m not sure what you call character, but its not putting others down, or even putting urself too high. Its about knowing who you are and who you are not – and still being widely respected. McCain doesn’t have character, he is a character, and there’s nothing funny about him being president.

The Los Angeles Times is refusing to release a videotape that it says shows Barack Obama praising a Chicago professor who was an alleged mouthpiece for the Palestine Liberation Organization while it was a designated terrorist group in the 1970s and ’80s.
According an LA Times article written by Peter Wallsten in April, Obama was a “friend and frequent dinner companion” of Rashid Khalidi, who from 1976 to1982 was reportedly a director of the official Palestinian press agency, WAFA, which was operating in exile from Beirut with the PLO.

In the article — based on the videotape obtained by the Times — Wallsten said Obama addressed an audience during a 2003 farewell dinner for Khalidi, who was Obama’s colleague at the University of Chicago, before his departure for Columbia University in New York. Obama said his many talks with Khalidi and his wife Mona stood as “consistent reminders to me of my own blind spots and my own biases.”

1. Dig a hole – hide for 8 years we’ll call you when it’s over – (could be 16 years the way Republicans are acting today)
But really if you hear the American people parting in the streets for the next 8 years you are allowed to change you ideology – it’s ok to say you know maybe there is another way – that living in FEAR under Republican rule is not the only choice – you can say it
Try saying it with us – WE CAN CHANGE – we can again become the great country we were before the Republican “Dark Period”
On a personal note are you married to Joe the Plumber – just a guess on my part?
Hope this helps -

Journalists from three major newspapers that endorsed John McCain have reportedly been booted from Barack Obama’s campaign plane for the final leg of the presidential race.
The Washington Times reported Friday that it was notified of the Obama campaign’s decision Thursday evening — even though the paper has covered Obama from the start.
Executive Editor John Solomon told FOXNews.com that the Obama campaign said it didn’t have enough seats on the plane, but “I don’t think the explanation makes sense to us.”
“We’ve been traveling since 2007 with him. … We’re a relevant newspaper — every day we break news,” Solomon said. “And to suddenly be kicked off the plane for people who haven’t covered it as aggressively or thoroughly as we are … it sort of feels unfair.”
He said the newspaper protested but was turned down again by the campaign.
“I can only hope that the candidate who describes himself as wanting to unite the nation doesn’t have some sort of litmus test for who he decides gets to cover the campaign,” Solomon said, noting that the Obama campaign’s decision came just two days after the paper endorsed McCain.
The New York Post and Dallas Morning News also have been kicked off Obama’s plane, according to the Web site The Drudge Report. It said the three reporters were told to find alternative transportation by Sunday so that the plane could accommodate “network bigwigs” and reporters from two black magazines, Essence and Jet.
Representatives from the New York Post and Dallas Morning News could not be reached immediately for comment.
Obama’s not the only candidate to play hardball with the press. McCain’s campaign has reportedly barred columnists Joe Klein and Maureen Dowd, who have been critical of the Republican candidate, from its campaign plane.

I understand the middle and lower class desire to raise the tax rate on $250K plus incomes, but in practice it doesn’t work. It’s a job killer, which leads to decreased tax revenues. It’s not a theory, it’s proven fact that has been proven over and over throughout history. Combine that with increasing capital gains and you have the perfect storm. Killing jobs and stifling investment. It’s very similar to what happened in 1929, where a simple recession was turned into a severe depression because the government mishandled the situation. It’s exactly the wrong thing at the wrong time.

Looks like Obama’s been buying votes by selling false hope. “Barack Obama’s senior advisers have drawn up plans to lower expectations for his presidency if he wins next week’s election, amid concerns that many of his euphoric supporters are harboring unrealistic hopes of what he can achieve. The sudden financial crisis and the prospect of a deep and painful recession have increased the urgency inside the Obama team to bring people down to earth, after a campaign in which his soaring rhetoric and promises of “hope” and “change” are now confronted with the reality of a stricken economy.”

Also they don’t need to have their financial support cut off in these crucial times. Now he talks with the enlisted all day . I do hope he is right. He says they remember Clinton shut down the bases and know McCain won’t do that. Although I don’t see why the media says the Virginia bases are heavy Obama unless this is just more media spin to Obama. Very possible they have been using Power of Suggestion throughout this election. They keep saying Obama has already won hoping McCain supporters become complacent and feel defeated before we even get to vote. We can’t let that happen.

And lastly, if you feel Sarah Palin can be the leader of the ‘free’ world, and run a military that IS at the breaking point, then vote for McCain/Palin.

McCain is NOT Bush. Bill Clinton said “McCain is an honorable man – Palin has good instincts.
He lied about public financing and has raised over $630,000,000- his commerical cost between 3.5 and 6 mil, his victory party will cost over 2 mil.

This will eliminate taxes for 7 million seniors saving them an average of $1,400. a year and will also mean that 27 million seniors will not need to file an income tax return at all” Tell me Obama supporters do you realize this will include many seniors(age 62) who could be receiving a $50,000. income through stock dividends which would mean they have a multimillion dollar stock portfolio? And Obama isn’t going to tax them. What avote getter. No wonder he is gaining with the sniors. Just think of the retirees in Florida, many who are wealthy. I am not sure why they’re saying the Virginia bases are for Obama. I wish we were still stationed there. Almost all media outlets are saying Obama has won, they are trying to sway our votes or make us complacent. I know very few military members, active, reserve or retired that are voting Obama. I think the ones that are voting Obama are ones that are new to the military. They don’t know what it’s like to live on pennies because Bush has given us GREAT raises in the last 8 years. So I will meet your in Florida on our next tour and I’ll be the military wife standing in line behind you for food stamps. Don’t believe me, check out Democrat Presidents records for military pay.

Answers to question depend heavily on how the questions are worded.
Obama’s ideas are “new” only in that they depart from the recent Republcan agenda of greed.
Obama’s tax policy would be very similar to Clinton’s, where we saw the greatest growth of income and wealth for the middle class in the history of our nation.
Some Republicans claim the worry about their retirement under Obama, while ignoring that Bush McCain would put Social Security into the market! The Republicans should be happy Bush did not pull this off. If he had, there would not be a Republican party in the US come January 2009.
Arguments against Obama are partisan, emotional, fear-based and illogical.
As Obama has said, we’ve seen 8 years of Republican economics, we’ve seen 8 years of Clinton’s Democratic economics. You choose.

New Ideas Versus Experience”—no that’s not true—Experience versus someone who “talks” about new ideas—

Jesse you are not well. Why don’t you tell me about all the experience McCANE has. Is it the experience in following Bush? Is it experience in only knowing what he already knows and not being able to think “new”? Is it his experience in choosing a running mate? Or perhaps choosing an alternate running mate in Joe the Plumber? How desperate can he get? I sincerely hope the country doesn’t have to find out.

Lily- I’ve asked this many times and cannot receive an answer??
Would you take a 1st year manager in training and make him CEO of a company?
How about a rookie cop and make him Commissioner?
Obama had 1 year of experience before starting to run for President.
If you say yes, let me know where you work, maybe I could get a job even if I have very little experience. I’m sure you would put in a good word for me.

Obama blamed the recent economic meltdown on Bush’s eight years rule. The fact is: there is a long history of subprime lending as a part of government sponsored welfare system, i.e. the great society programs by LBJ , Community Reinvestment act, Clinton cabinet member push for less restriction on subprime loans, ACORN served as an enforcer of subprime loans, fannie and freddie are all more Democratic than Republic favored . Among the two parties, the Dem. candidates or politicians get much more political donations from the corrupt fannie & freddie and wall street firms than the Republicans.

Let me try and understand – you and your husband (You are speaking for the Military members here) need a Republican to keep the war machine running because you do not want to end up on food stamps.
Wow to the parents of the 4100 brave Americans who sacrificed their lives during the last 8 years your position sounds – well it sounds pathetically self serving at best, and narrow minded ignorant might be closer to the actual description – I’ll get back to you on that.
The Military in my day was not run by the spouses – but let me assure you it’s not about you and your FEAR of food stamps it’s about 4100 American lives and my 16 year old and the thought of him being drafted to fight in McSAME wars to come. It’s about your husband’s life.
So please stop with the food stamps for Military families – didn’t you hear – McSAME going to stop Government Spending – hell that’s the only segment of the economy that has money to spend and he’ll put the brakes on that to.

Dav – Australia does not have compulsory voting, it has compulsory checking off the electoral role (very small fine involved for non compliance)
This serves two purposes 1. An update of the roll
2. Whilst there most people vote (but not all it is perfectly legal to put in a “donkey” vote)thus ensuring that the broadest cross section of society possible gets to have an input – not just the loony left and the rabid right.
They dont always get it right as in our recent election when guess what, change and a huge wish list won the day – sound familiar?
The reality is setting in now though just as it will for the USA if the polls can be believed.
In your case it is probably all academic as a brief read of this and other blogs shows that there are not too may rational voters in the USA, certainly not a rational and unbiased media, and leaves one with the impression we are watching live the decline and fall of an empire which our grandchildren will read about in history books, probably written in chinese, hindu or arabic.

Is this really the best you “McCain/Pain” people have??
Socialism??
He’ll give you a much bigger tax break than McCain/Pain, while letting the Bush cuts expire on those with incomes over $250,000.
That’s what you call Socialism?? You need a dictionary.
The Republicans rip you off and give your money to the rich and you call the Democrats “Socialists”???
Get a clue.

Anti-repugnicans. . . .You apparently missed the point completely. It’s all about what tax increases to the “job creators” does to the economy. There have been good accountants for a hundred years, so they suddenly need to get better this year? They’re already using all the loopholes. The 250K tax base is going to go up, period. The fact remains, this strategy has always been a job killer. . .every time.
I own a small construction related business with 15 employees. 90-95% of my clients fall in the “above $250K” bracket. Do you expect my business to increase under Obama’s plan? Even if it just results in a 10% decrease in business, that’s 10% of my employees being laid off. How is this good for job growth? Every contractor we work with is in the same boat. Bottom line. . we don’t work for poor people.

JimInFLBlueState-The war will end, and we still won’t need food stamps. It is not because of hazardous duty pay that we won’t be in that line. It is because our base pay has increased that we won’t be in that line. So I will continue this talk, you apparently haven’t given a moment in time to your country for the good of this country. And the draft is a non-issue. Yes it is about my husbands life, and did you not see me say Obama has PLEDGED to slow the development of our combat systems. I would love to say that that’s a good thing, it would save our country money, HOWEVER there are people out there that hate us, and when my husband deploys again, I want him to have the right equipment to defend himself. Obama will not give it to him. And back on the food stamps, when Obama cuts our raises off, and he will, that will only cost the government more money when they have to give us food stamps. Do some research on the issue before you try to slam me, I have experience on this issue, what do you have?

I do not understand the christians who are voting for McCain, at all. The main reason you vote republican is because of the abortion issue. Am I right? WEll, Your guy Bush, who you people gave 2 terms to, has ruined our country and he never lifted a finger to stop abortion! He has been in power for 8 years, a GIFT you gave to him, and what did you get in return? NOTHING! Republicans will promise you the moon to get your vote and then give you nothing in return. Have your lives been better under republican rule? Think about it. And the republicans treat our soldiers like dirt. They don’t give them the right equipment and they take away their benefits. Go to the many veteran web sites and see for yourselves. Our soldiers deserve more. As president, Obama will not waste our military on an expensive go-nowhere war that has earned us the animosity of the whole world. He will try to find the peaceful way and if that isn’t possible, then he will resort to war as a last resort. THAT is what Jesus would do!!! THINK!

“So, why don’t you do all of us Obama Messiah types a favor and school us.” thats the whole point – we don’t know because the issue is blatantly ignored for some reason that is beyond me

THIS WILL CHANGE YOUR RETIREMENT
To those who have more money than you will ever need, save your time and don’t read this.
For the rest of us who are still working with mortgages, children and grandchildren or retired living on a pension and or Social Security perhaps you will take a couple of minutes to read the proposed changes in the American tax system.
Sharing this email with others can make a difference on November 4, 2008; for our citizens and our country.
INTERESTING DATA JUST RECEIVED ON TAXES
This is something you should be aware of so you don’t get blind-sided.
This is really going to catch a lot of families off guard. It should make you worry.
Proposed changes in taxes after 2008 General election:
CAPITAL GAINS TAX
MCCAIN
0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples) McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.
OBAMA
28% on profit from ALL home sales
How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.
DIVIDEND TAX
MCCAIN 15% (no change)
OBAMA 39.6%
How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama become president. The experts predict that higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.
INCOME TAX (OBAMA CLAIMS NO INCREASE IN TAXES….. AFTER BUSH CUTS ARE
ELIMINATED!)
MCCAIN (no changes)
Single making 30K – tax $4,500
Single making 50K – tax $12,500
Single making 75K – tax $18,750
Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K – tax $18,750
Married making 125K – tax $31,250
OBAMA
(Reversion to pre-Bush tax cuts)
Single making 30K – tax $8,400
Single making 50K – tax $14,000
Single making 75K – tax $23,250
Married making 60K – tax $16,800
Married making 75K – tax $21,000
Married making 125K – tax $38,750
Under Obama your taxes will more than double! How does this affect you?
No explanation needed. This is pretty straightforward.
INHERITANCE TAX
MCCAIN 0% (No change, Bush repealed this tax)
OBAMA Restore the inheritance tax
How does this affect you? Many families have lost businesses, farms and ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will not only lose them to these taxes.
NEW TAXES BEING PROPOSED BY OBAMA
* New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet
* New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren’t high enough already)
* New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water,
electricity)
* New taxes on retirement accounts and last but not least….
* New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!
Thank You

Everyone saying Bush this Bush that has obviously no understanding of the government but of course you just need someone else to put all the blame on. Bush was trying to pass regulations but kept getting shot down…thats why we are in this mess and for the millionth time subprime lending was encouraged in your ‘ohhh so great’ Clinton era! Google the article “Fannie Mae Eases Credit To Aid Mortgage Lending.”

Present – let’s talk about that 95% magic number
In 3rd world countries 5% of the people own 95% of the wealth – leaving the 95% of the people poor. So what is happening has been happening and will continue to happen is that the American supper rich will continue – the Middle class Republicans think they will be taken care of but won’t and under the current economic slide America becomes a 3rd world country – not a pretty sight
Those patrons of yours will not be making money when the middle class melts down – A strong Middle class is what fuels this whole economy – it’s so basic economics really – Middle class America spends money – rich America makes money when middle class spends –
No middle class – no spending – think really bad things happen -
McSAME’s plan will result in a 90% decrease in your business as we will have an economic plan as classy as this campaign
If Obama’s plan results in a 10% decrease you should be happy – that means Obama is doing a good job

TRUTH when Obama says he’ll have us out of Iraq in 16 months, he’s lying to you! The fact is we still have a base in Japan! So does Obama mean we will be completely out of there, or just that he will draw down troops? At least McCain has the balls to say that we may keep a US base in Iraq indefinitely. Obama is just full of lies. There is a part of me that would like Obama to win, if just to show you guys what he isn’t! But I love my country too much to believe it would be a good thing just to prove a point!

I am an independent voter in PA and will be voting for Obama.
Mcain tries to promote his experience vs Obama’s new ideas, but in my mind, Mcain experience equals (=) more of the same – look at the campaign he has lacked running – negative, mudslinging, internal desension, in-fighting, chaotic, erratic and reckless – this is what the mccain experience will get you – more of the same. No Thanks

Look, neither candidate fits my presidential ideal, so I’ve got to go with someone who I think can perform the duties of the office. I believe the most important duties are as Commander in Chief of the military and as the appointer of federal judges. On both issues, McCain wins, hands down. Obama is so far left and so out of the main stream of America that even a Demoncratic Congress will put up resistance, just as they did to Clinton after the ’92 election. I don’t vote for speaking abilities, looks, race, Hollywood associations – I vote for the person I think can do the job best, and Obama wouldn’t be in my top 1,000.
All you who are fearful of the economic situation – I understand. I’ve been layed off twice, and the last time it took me 6 months to find a job. Still, I didn’t blame Bush for the slower economy. Why, you ask? Because lower taxes are a pro-economic growth policy. Higher taxes are pro-governmental growth, which doesn not add value to society. It adds value to the service govt can provide, but doesn’t move society forward. As well, when you stimulate the economy with lower taxes, GOVERNMENTAL REVENUE INCREASES. This is one area Demoncrats just can’t get, or don’t want to admit. An expanding economy creates higher corporate earnings, translating into, not only increased govt revenue, but also increased wages. With those increased wages, increased economic activity, which is cycle that continues, but does slow time at pretty predictable intervals. Who knows…maybe it IS controlled by economic policies (read: higher taxes, slower economy in 3-5 years), but this slowdown is somewhat unique, the expansion having to recover from the 9/11 events, then the effects of Katrina and Rita. Killing economic activity in a large metro area, let alone tri-state area, will have an negative drag on a national economy. THEN, the bad lending practices (btw, pushed by Demoncrats under the guise of helping the less fortunate) caused a tetering credit industry that couldn’t even handle a slowing economy, let alone a recession. … yes, it’s all very complex, but then again, the simple will just hear the lies of Obama and vote for him. Those willing to spend the time to study such topics of life will understand the wholistic nature of the economy and vote for experience.
OK…so, in the end, the economy isn’t my main voting issue. I vote on societal issues, which translate to Constitutional boundaries, which translates to federal justice appointments. The only reason I question Mr Obama’s faith is that he DOES NOT ascribe to Biblical principles on his societal policies. Economically, we advocates forced “spread the wealth” which is not a Christian principal. Voluntary giving is what is advocated in the New Testament. When it was forced, Jesus Christ said to pay to Ceasar what is Ceasar’s, and provided a coin to pay their taxes.
As far as abortion goes, there are plenty of Biblical references to babies in the womb as known by God and valuable. But, on this issue, I will even forgo the Biblical teachings and tell you that I believe a baby in the womb is an independant life and due to protections because of the following: 1. It’s independent circulatory system, 2. It’s independent central nervous system, 3. It’s separate brain, 4. It’s own will to do what it does, independent of the mother’s wishes. The only thing the unborn baby can’t control is nutrition (and, of course safety), but a baby can cause malnutrition in the mother to keep healthy. NOW, that doesn’t sound like an appendenge of the mother, does it? If it isn’t, what it is, is a dependant of the mother, just as a baby is outside the womb. Kill a 3-minute old ust-born baby and it’s murder…kill a baby 3 minutes before birth and it’s “abortion”. How is it that time can define human existence!
Well, this is long enough. I hope I have made myself clear. I do not subscribe to Obama’s stances on the issues of the day. And, even if I was just as opposed to McCain’s, I would lean toward him because of his experience.

JimInFLBlueState -You also said the military wasn’t run by spouses, that’s a good observation to make. Too bad your candidate hasn’t learned that lesson yet as he is sending his wife to talk to military spouses just like me in an effort to win the military vote. He knows without it he might actually lose, WOW imagine that!

Obama is who he says he is and his platform is one of growth, economic restoration, and a restoration of our great Country Position in the world -
Look it is that easy –
4 more years of decline under McSAME
Or real growth, economic restoration, and a restoration of our great Country Position in the world under Obama

I told the ones working over time they were going to give some of their time to the ones that didn’t work so we could have equal pay. I told sales that the ones who really worked hard would have to give some of their wages to the ones who sat around and did nothing to redistribute the money so no one would feel unworthy. What we are seeing in this election is Americans taking back control of their government, from the ground up. As for all you non-believers, as John Mellencamp sings, “If you’re not part of the future, then get out of the way”. When it is announced that Barack Obama has won the US election for President of the United States of America, people all over the world will spill into the streets in celebration. This is history in the making folks, so don’t miss your chance to be a part of it. Go out and VOTE.

I am really tired of the talk of how much of a tax break I’d get with Obama. I am voting McCain knowing I’ll get less of a break…why you ask? How is this break being funded? If we collect less tax from anyone right now wheres the give. This is not the time to make people a promise of a tax break when we have the largest deficit in history.
The Bush administration is not a McCain administration. I sincerely believe this and I know McCain would not be four more years of the same. As a democrat I’ve admired McCain for a long time. Why? He is not the far right. His actions, his votes, his stand on the surge haved proven to me his ability to be a great president. He was willing to lose an election and make a difficult stand on the war when no one else would. He was right!
I never agreed with the war or Bush but I feel strongly that we need to finish the job the right way.
Obama’s speech against the war was nice but it’s real easy to be against something when you are not responsible because he was not in the senate to even vote when we decided to go.
We need someone to make hard decisions and quickly!
One final note, would you hire any professional (Lawyer, doctor, pilot, realtor, daycare provider, teacher, ect.)with little to no experience. Ask yourself seriously…I would not…never.

When I was in the Military we all knew it was about sacrifice – we the Military sacrifice our lives, better pay and better working conditions to serve our country and we do so without whining – in fact we keep our politics neutral as we swore to follow the orders of the commander and chief.
But then again a whining spouse does not our Military make -

There are so many people who are not paying attention to the issues. Obama has never once given a specific answer to our economic problems besides spread the wealth. Why should people who work hard 12-15 hours a day, who are responsible parents raise and educate their children spread the wealth. These people receive no assistance, no financial aid, no incentives but continue to do the right thing. The majority of the middle class will sponsor programs in their communities to support and encourgae change to break the lower class cycle. Money at a federal level will DO NOTHING to help. People must be responsible for themselves and the decisions they make. The idea of the government stepping in and fixing peoples problems is ridiculous. This ranges from people who are being foreclosed on because they brought a home they couldn’t afford,(how do you really not know what your interst rate is) to people on welfare who refuse to work to make a better life for their family. I am tired of hearing its the gov’ts fault. Change will only happen if people change. So everybody should take a good look on how both candidates are really answering the questions becasue I am not hearing any real answers

Jimfblue I say these things beacause we are the people the ones talking and getting the real facts. Do you think I am lying about my husband working on a navy base? And talking with all the enlisted? What would be the purpose of that? My point is the media and press have spun this election to Obama yet the truth is we have not all had our say yet. Last I checked it was the American way to wait for election night to announce the next President of the United States of America. MCCAIN

Well…..folks need to become informed., G.W. Bush acted on principal and did what he thought was right for this country…..You can blame the war on him, but in the end, the surge worked and we freed millions of people., The current financial collapse can be blamed almost entirely on the democratic party and their “share the wealth” philosophies that resulted in millions of Americans to buy homes they couldn’t afford. Look at New York Times articles from 1999 when Clinton was president…Listen to Barney Frank who was responsible for Freddie and Fannie…PLEASE Do your research!!!….
George Bush is guilty of 2 things…Not having the spin engine that Clinton and Obama have, and not being the most articulate person in the world…..
In the end, he did what he did what he thought was for the betterment of our country…
Also,….Obama has 143 days as a U.S. Senator and now he thinks he’s ready to Be President. It’s impossible to go from a Fry Cook at McDonalds to store Manager in 143 days, yet Obama thinks he can go from 1/2 term Senator to Leader of the Free World….
THINK ABOUT THAT!!!!

Speech, you need not speak at all unless you have something worthy to point out. Have you ever talked to ANYONE that lost a family member who was happy about it when it was a life lost in vain? Anyone would be proud of someone who chose to fight for our country, but not in a war that was useless and has costed $10 billion a month. While we had to get bailout plan, Iraq has built up a surplus. You’re the idiot that will be haunted by their own words if McCain wins.

Journalists from three major newspapers that endorsed John McCain — the Washington Times, the New York Post and the Dallas Morning News — have been booted from Barack Obama’s campaign plane for the final leg of the presidential race. According to the Web site The Drudge Report, the three newspapers’ reporters were told to find alternative transportation by Sunday so that the plane could accommodate “network bigwigs” and reporters from Essence and Jet

JimInFLBlueState -A whiny wife I am not! When my husband deploys as he has many times, I am the wife with the steel spine, when the military asks if I need anything my answer is NO. Why you ask, because if my husband can deploy to protect people like you, the least I can do is raise our children without bitching. Yes, McCain’s wife has talked to military spouses, I never said she didn’t. What I said is Obama is sending his little wifey ALL THE TIME to speak with military spouses and we all know why, he wants the military vote, the problem for Obama is most of us know once he gets our vote he will cast us aside. And the fact that you say military members keep their politic nuetral is a real laugh. While my husband will not speak politics, and he will follow the Presidents orders, his politics are FAR from NEUTRAL. So you can try to take the high road on this but your argument lacks facts! All you can do is call names yet you still recite no facts. As for sacrifice, while my husband sacrifices the most in the family, my children sacrifice also for this country. Although my husband would say our children sacrifice the most. Military pay is a huge issue whether you want to agree or not!! Just ask my children who need a roof over their head, food on the table and clothes on their back!!

Johnny Miller, why don’t you think about Palin as your President and your tax money that will be used for hwe WARdrobe. Would that be for the betterment of our country? THINK ABOUT THAT!!
It’s ok to do what’s best for us, but when you see its not working, DO SOMETHING ELSE! Don’t drag us all down for something we never supported.

OHmilitarywife- You say that McCain “has the balls”, well, I prefer I guy with BRAINS, thank you. McCain was 894th in a graduating class of 899. Your gal Sarah went to a total of 5 colleges to get a degree in journalism! Barack Obama was suma cum laude from HARVARD! I want the guy with the brains in the White House to get us out of the mess your Bozo Bush got us into! President Obama will treat our soldiers with respect and use them wisely, not just use them for cannon fodder. By the way, where is Osama Bin Laden, you know the guy who killed 3000 people by slamming airplanes into the twin towers 7 years ago? Oh yeah, Your Guy, Bozo Bush said” Bin Laden? Hmmm, I don’t even think about him that much”. THAT doesn’t make you even a little bit annoyed? If your husband is in the military you should be angry that his life has been put on the line in an endless war that has dragged our country into the sewer. I want to see your husband at home with his family, not in this godless going nowhere wasteful despicable war. I think your husband deserves to be cherished for his service, not thrown into a bloody meatgrinder just so Bozo and his friends can get RICH! By the way, the Iraqis want us out of there and it is after all, THIER COUNTRY!!!! THINK, woman!

This only underscores the influence of money on elections. So most short sighted voters will be thrilled about this. I will be benefitting from an Obama tax decrease but it does not address the long term concerns for the health of our economy. Chrysler is closing a Missouri mini-van plant to focus the production in Canada. Why? Are their executives seeking refuge in Canada?
If investors can do better elsewhere they will. This means there will not be the money Obama promises to those he has bribed. We are going to be hurting with either candidate.
The democrats blame Bush for the economic down turn when they squashed administration hearings questioning the lending practices of Fannie and Freddie; which set us up for this economic tragedy. And the republicans haven’t the brains to pin the tail on the donkey. Instead the politicians want to play the game of who has the biggest #### when it comes to tax cuts and who they’re going to stick with it.

JohnnyMiller – could you give us more FEAR – will Obama get right of first night? LOL
OHmilitarywife – Yes sadly your are
Deanbob – you’ve many cover’s are blown – your message of Fear, like your candidate is weak.

I’m sorry conf1689 , that won’t happen If McCain is elected. He has no plans to end the war or cease the $10 billion we spend a month for it. It’s so convenient how everyone complains about the ecomonic crisis, but it doesnt bother you that the money you dont have or the money you lost is in Iraq. I love that you all are so devout to the military – it truly is wonderful thing. I’m just against fighting in vain, whether here at home or abroad, and we are ALL fighting right now.

JimInFLBlueState -It’s ok, I know why you can’t come up with facts. My husband signed up for the military for love of country, however that is a long old discussion. Because our military members are PATRIOTIC and they love their country and will protect it with their life does not mean that should have to give up the basic right to decent pay! If Obama cuts the military budget, my husband is now high enough in rank that we would not fall below the poverty line again, however our younger service members will. So you see my arguement is not to keep my family off food stamps, it is to try to make sure NO military family EVER has to stand in that line again! But it’s OK, you obviously did not stay in the military long enough to fight for whats right, even when people call you names!!

OHmilitarywife Could you tell your husband, I said thank you and that him and all the military are hero’s in most of American eyes. They are the ones who fought to give us the rights we have and to many people take them for granted. Obama is trying to take are freedom of speech away with trying to re-enact the fairness doctrine and we as Americans need to stop this because many Americans have given the biggest sacrafice to give us this right. Please tell your husband many thanks!!!!

You speak as if what you fear is the truth – and the real truth is you don’t know and you fear what you do not know.
Relax – I would rather you a poor women than a poor widow – I bet your husband would as well.

OHmilitarywife I want you to know I pray for all the military every night and I thank them every night for keeping the war off of our soil. This war could of been stopped during the Clinton years but Clinton was to busy with Cigars. I also want you to know it is like a war zone in Illinois also because of Obama and all the Democrats. We could use your husband here. There are more murders here then there are killings in Iraq right now. I think the national gaurd should come here or have everyone pull out of Illinois like Obama wants to do in Iraq and call it a loss.

Sherrie – what crack are you smoking? We paid high gas prices because the oil companies and the speculators drove prices artificially high and destroyed the supply/demand that normally keeps the prices more or less in check. As for Palin, more executive experience than Biden? Whatever!
She’s been governer for barely two years of one of the least populous states in the union and already has 3 or 4 corruption scandals! Before that she was a mayor of some tiny little town in EBF and only for a very short period of time – not very much exec experiene there! I sure don’t want someone like that running my country.
Biden’s been a Senator for something like 30 years and has way more experience than her, and has some of the best foreign policy credentials of any senator.
Plus Obama was a state legislator of one of the more populous states with an active and complex legislature and was so for a number of years before being elected to the Senate.
Get real with your comparisons. I certainly grow tired of such lame attempts to present the skills of McCain/Palin

JiminFlbluestate Be careful of what you wish for. I am a resident of LIBERAL BUE DEMOCRATIC MASSACHUSETTS and yes I am afraid the whole country will turn blue and we are all up the creek without a paddle. Did you read my post about Obamas plan not to tax seniors(62+) making $50,000. a year? Coming from Florida you must know there are many wealthy retirees whos income may be coming from dividends of $50,000. which would mean a stock portfolio worth millions and Obama isn’t even going to have them file taxes .Are you one of those fortunate seniors? Because I am one of the middle class who is once again going to be expected to carry the brunt of it all. And if you don’t think Obama put this plan out there just to gain senior votes I would think again. While many seniors are in need and I agree and want to help these seniors. Obama is giving many wealthy seniors a pass and eliminating a huge tax base. No wonder Florida seniors have jumped over to Obama. Go read his website please and his tax plan and come back and tell me if you think it is responsible and fair. Oh yes Obama is going to help the middle class families. NOT….

10 Billion a month – and they hate us – a trillion dollars to create more terrorist than we had in the first place – way to go on securing America!!!

JimInFLBlueState -HISTORICALLY speaking democrats suck for military families. Obama is so far left he’s a mile left of other democrats. From the way you speak, you’ve made your decision about McCain based on Bush’s policies and that’s fine. I have based my decision about Obama based on the democrats record with the military. Oh and on the fact that Obama has PLEDGED to slow our development of COMBAT SYSTEMS, that’s like the 5th time I’ve had to type that to you, aren’t you listening?? It’s OK, go back and pull the wool over your eyes, I understand! You have a good day now, I’m going to take my oldest son to the McCain rally in Columbus Ohio. Man I love living in a swing state!!!!!

Yes Fear Obama is going to end up making more businesses leave our states, give the power to the Unions which I can say are not diversified. My husband is also a sheet metal union memeber and in his magazine this month they tell everyone to Vote Obama he is the one for them. Guess what out of over 800 members(I counted) at a Florida district meeting of business agents I counted 3 African Americans. And throughout the magazine I counted 6 African Americans and two women. But once again I am going with the facts. Sorry I know you don’t like them. Fear he is going to put this country into a deeper recession.Again I ask are you one of those wealthy Florida retirees who stands to gain with Obama Presidency?

Again we have more murders here then killings in Iraq, Again our taxes are higher here then anywhere in the country and it is not just on the rich and again we have the highest unemployment (could be 2nd to Michigan now but that state is ran by democrats also)This is what Obama plans to do to the whole country. Wake up. Since you don’t work take a ride up here and I bet you could only wish you were somewhere else. Obama and Illinois Democratic politcal machine is horrible.

This is exactly what Bush and the Republicans have done for the last 8 years!
Posted by: nhmtnbkr | October 31, 2008, 1:17 pm 1:17 pm
OHmilitarywife – reference my choice -
I thought it was my distrust of the Republican machine and McSame lame attempts at communicating any concept of reality. He does not know how many homes he owns – think he knows what worry about food stamps is all about?
Or maybe it’s because McCain has no game so he borrows the game in play from Bush – a loser’s game
Or maybe because he picked an un vetted and questionable VP
Or maybe because today I see him with his trusted advisor and token working class guy Joe the Plumber and I think that all he is doing is pandering to women and wage grade earners.
Or maybe because all he can do is spread fear about Obama
Actually I’ve chosen Obama because McCain has no vision of an America different than the one we woke up to today.
And if you can’t see that we need a different tomorrow in America for our children than what we are planting today than I really pity you party and your candidate and your future.

One question – where do you think this race would be if Obama had stuck with his promise to use the same funding system as McCain? What an arrogant waste of money that 30-min infomercial was. The guy is so full of himself!
If Mr. Obama wins, I will feel like our country has been bought, and, somehow through being a citizen, feel dirty, soiled. The amount money thrown around in this campaign is so absurd that I could end up siding with McCain on campaign finance reform. Oh yeah, and I wonder how much of the Obama $$ are from overseas. Privacy has it’s priviledges, but I’m not willing to sell the leadership of my country to foreign governments.

I just signed on because I had to tell my workers that we were going to redistribute the pay. I told the ones working over time they were going to give some of their time to the ones that didn’t work so we could have equal pay. I told sales that the ones who really worked hard would have to give some of their wages to the ones who sat around and did nothing to redistribute the money so no one would feel unworthy. I think it is going to work but I really don’t understand why they are throwing the chairs and computers all over the office??? The Kenya family of US Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has halted all media engagements until after the US presidential election on November 4 .
Next is going to be the American people who will not be able to ask questions without being interogated by Obama and his employees, just like what happened to Joe in Ohio. Illinois stop the repostinging – or is deanbob florida thanks!!!!
are you really all the same or is there truth to the “Bot” concept.
The analogy of redistribution goes like this –
We take away the trillion in War cost (the Halburton) payments and we seed the economy with loans for small businesses and that give Americans jobs rather than India china jobs – we get to an alternative to outsourcing America – this way the education and healthcare benefits can be spread around affordably to all
Obama does not want to give money to lazy people – he wants Jobs for people who want to work and he wants affordable health and education for all the people –
Look we pay for free health care and free social services – does not matter who is in the white house – republican democrat – if you walk into emergency room in this country they treat you – if your kids are starving they feed you – That’s why they call us a World Power – say it with me World Power – the alternative is 3rd world economics – see my early post –
But hey you Bots are pretty smart – far me it from me to argue with the wisdom of say JOE THE PLUMBER – as he rely does not appear to pay taxes at all and can be part of the new deal form McSAME. No regulation or vetting required everyone get on the hate bus – next stop is Hell for America –
Ok I gotta go, am sure TRUTH or one of the other smarter members will fill in – but it’s been really fun – you Bots need real help –

Well since we need to be nice lets just say you are disfunctional at so many levels that in about 16 years of democratic rule (spanking, timeout, penelty box) should help tone you down,

I have voted every YEAR since 1968 in local, state and national elections. I have NEVER before encountered a candidate with the combination of profound intellect, steady temperament, selfless conciliation, and judgement of people. This last might appear surprising to those who accept the caustic vitriol about his associations with Ayers and Wright as gospel. Those associations were vetted in the primaries and are none issues.
Defeating the Democratic machine and now on the eve of defeating the Republican machine Obama appears to possess significant executive skills as well. If he commands his presidency with even a third of the skill with which he has controlled his campaign he will be the best president any of us regardless of age and income level will have experienced.

Vote ~ Obama and Biden Ticket~~~~
The Great Depression. ~~~
Great Depression was causes by Republican Majorities in the 1920s that lead up to the 1929 Stock Market crash! The 1930s were the years of the Great Depression and it took a Socialist, FDR to get America back on track. It took him almost 10 years to do it. ~~~~~~~
McCain becomes President, and 99% of Americans will suffer under a Great Depression that will go on for many years. ~~~~~~~
Obama becomes President, and 99% of Americans will suffer hard times for two or three years before he can get things turned around. It will take Obama two terms to get this mess straightened out. He will have to spend his first days as President reversing all the Bush/McCain programs and policies in all areas, and then he can spend years cleaning up the mess and years more making repairs. ~~~~~~~
It always takes a Democrat that leans to the left to get America to the center! Eight years of a right wing low IQ Religious fanatic caused this mess. ~~~~~~
This is not the time for some senile old man with a right wing nutcase VP to step in with 20th century solutions to 21st century problems. This is the time for a high IQ 21st century thinking person to take charge, and that would be Obama. ~~~~~~
Obama will be much like FDR! He will save America if elected. ~~~

Obama’s change/revolution ideas are very old and have failed repeatedly!
I, a disillusioned former democrat and Hillary supporter, voted for the authentic reformers and America’s only hope in this election! McCain/Palin 08 :)
This race illuminates the absolute ascendance of the perception that money will buy you anything if you have enough of it. :(

deanbob – Bush the W – the Republican in the White House pushed the bailout packaged based on everyone – he pushed it with one factor – u guessed it the FEAR factor – it was spawned by, fed by – Republicans – McCain halted everything for it – I bet that package served the 5% more than the 95%
This is more of the republican BS – the current problems are Clinton doing crap -
It’s like you are saying we got this car 8 years ago from the Dem’s see – and we saw it had a defect – we drove it anyway and after doing nothing to fix it we finally crashed into the brick Wall (ST) and although we knew all these issues and problems 8 years ago – it is still not our fault but somebody else’s fault.
You know I am not sure what makes me sicker – your name calling, your refusal to accept reality, or your inability to accept responsibility.
Accepting responsibility is Leadership
You have no Leadership in the Republican party

As you know, Bush got you to vote for him on the abortion issue and then he gave you NOTHING in return for the GLORIOUS FUN-FILLED 8 years he has given all of us. Now you say “vote republican again!” so we can suffer through at least 4 more years of Bush-lite because this guy is promising you this same promise. You are

Who has the new ideas? The ideas Obama is selling are the same worn-out philosophies that voters rejected in 2000, when Gore preached the same thing, and in 2004 when Kerry preached the same thing. They are actually ideas from the failed Carter administration – the only reason voters bought into the philosophy with Clinton is because he was a highly charismatic person.

First Joe Biden caused headaches for the campaign Monday when he told a Scranton, Pa., TV station that Obama’s tax break “should go to middle class people — people making under $150,000 a year.”
Down to $120,000 now.

I think this poll the article refers to just shows how uninformed voters really are – most listen to only snippets of news and don’t look beyond the soundbites. Case in point: Obama is the one selling old ideas while McCain is the one who has developed new ideas in order to differentiate himself from Bush and redefine the Republican party. So many of the bloggers on this site -back that up, they actually believe that McCain’s policies are an extension of Bush’s – when simply looking beyond the sound bite proves otherwise. Too many voters aren’t willing to take the time to learn – all too willing to sit back and let the media tell them who they should vote for.

He did vote yes to raise taxes on people who make $42,000 or more once why won’t he do it again. Can you imagine Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Franks all working together to get all of are money so they can hand out what they think you should have.

JiminFLBueState – you do realize that we pay through the war with financing (just like way you pay for your house or your boat or your car)? So although taxpayers do pay for the war, the cost isn’t really tied to the unemployment rate. By the way, the national unemployment rate is not even in double digits – it was 6 percent the last I checked, and 4 and 5 percent in some parts of the country. The last time we had double-digit unemployment was when we had a democrat as president. Look it up.

November 5, 2008:
George Banks, the fictitious father in the movie; “Father of the Bride” just announced that, “because of the pending tax burden under President Obama, my small sneaker manufacturing business, which had marginal success prior to the election, will shut down on December 24, 2008!” — That’s right; Christmas Eve.
George later went on to state; “I met a businessman from India at a cocktail party last month, who offered me top dollar for my manufacturing equipment.” –
George later stated, “I had to take the gentleman from India’s offer seriously before President Obama took office, because if I sold the equipment after the Obama tax & distribute-wealth plan took affect, the profit from that equipment sale would’ve been taxed at the 50% capital gains as opposed to the 39% I’ll currently get charged with!”
George later apologized to his long term employees for shuttering the plant the day before Christmas, but as he said, “it was an inevitable outcome of the new administration’s policy; purely a business decision; but I’ll use some of the savings from shutting down the plant now, as opposed to later, in order to give a better severance for all my long time, loyal and loving employee! –
George later lamented that he’s very sad for his daughter, his wife, as well as wedding planners; Hank & Frank whom have essentially become part of the family of late; as well as the florists, seamstress, the musicians in the band, the caterers, the interior designers; the ice sculptor artist, the “Chake” maker, and the tent suppliers. George went on to state that; his daughter’s dream wedding will now be scaled down to a small reception at the local VFW hall with a nice cake from Costco. –
George dejectedly laughed, recalling the funny way Hank pronounced the word “cake” while wiping a tear from his eye.
George stated; “this is a very sad day for my family, but even sadder for America! God bless you all – and; “good luck!”
Hank & Frank were later spotted walking dejectedly hand, in hand from the Bank’s residence, wondering where their next wedding gig would come from?
Hank stated,:”I’d go back to being a florist again, but the new Obama import tax for the flowers from Columbia, make that prospect prohibitively costly.”
As they pondered their future Hank stated, “perhaps I’ll sell other Columbian products to get by in the mean time!”

from the article … He wins 90% of “new ideas” voters…
LOL – no ambiguity here is there. There are only 10 “new idea” voters, so 9 votes for Obama.
What he means is that Obama has new ideas. Oh … Islam? Socialism? Metaphors (…pig w/lipstick)? Healthcare? President from Hawaii? I give up … what new ideas?
It’s the new ideas he fought for while in the Senate. Ah…voting present – phew, I knew it had to be something big!

Father of the Bride – funny movie! Biden asked his dear friend George, “George? How much does it cost you nowadays to fill up your car with gas?” And do you know what he told Binden, he said “Joe, are you as stupid as you sound? When empty, cars normally hold 14/15 gallons of gas, so figure it out yourself. Besides, my finances are really none of your business.” Biden said, “I love you George…”. George said, “I love you too, Joe”.

What surprises me is the “style over substance” of the two candidates. Obama sound as if his stuff don’t stink,,,,,but ya know what? “It should!”
He went to the best law school in the country and learned every nuance of speech delivery known to man! McCain does sound like a lesser candidate when you compare speech patterns, delivery etc.
We don’t have much to judge Obama on; he spent less than two years in the senate, and most of that time he was running for president.
But, he did give us Ayers,,,not the washed-up junkie terrorist, but the fact that Obama didn’t know him; “just a guy in the hood!” Well, I’m sure Harvard Law covers the landmark law case, US-v-Ayers extensively, because ole Billy-boy got off a life sentence on a technacality! Don’t ya think he’d know the guy?? He probably envies him!
Then there is campaign finances; where he made a gentlemens agreement with McCain to take public money. Then, at the 11th hour, he backed-out!
Both say volumes about “character.”
But what’s really curious is that he had the audacity to lie to us about Ayers (yeah sure Barak,,,,they don’t cover him @ Harvard??) Then he wants us to trust him with the all the campaign promises, when in fact,,,,all he’s done is lie!
“Now that’s true, “Audacity of Hope”

We need new ideas and quick! We simply cannot continue on this ruinous path. There is way more than our 401K to lose. Mr. McCain’s experience will bring us the same disastrous results that the last 8 years of Republican rule have brought us. Geez, who in their right mind wants that. And, I hate to tell you, but their are a lot more invisible Bush landmines to step on. It will take 30 years to recover.

Dave,,,I understand where you’re coming from, but one of our biggest issues is the mortgage mess. Please read this article from Investor’s Business Daily, and especially the time period of 1990′s through 2006.
I think if you honestly look at it, you’ll see that Republicans were indeed on your side, but were backed against a wall at every opportunity.
This is a very in depth study of the problem, but truly remarkable as it pertains to both candidates.
I doubt the Obama Media will carry this, but they should:

DaveM – the democrats have been in control of congress that past two years. Also, subprime lending started being heavily encouraged back in the Clinton administration (thats what caused this recession in case you didn’t know), Bush is now trying to clean up the aftermath. Bush was pushing for regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac but got shot down by the democrats.

So many say the media wants Obama to win. I heard this morning over coffee from a Republican who said she’s grateful the media isn’t telling the whole Palin story. Huh? You mean she hasn’t been fully vetted and exposed yet? Not even close. what I heard is tied to Palin’s overly long multi-college days learning to be a sprorts broadcaster, her time trying to be a beauty pagent queen and her unreleased medical records. I was l;eft curious as she said she already said too much. But I was reminded she and dude 1 had to get married… During the conversation she did say Palin lives each day ridden with profound guilt. That’s it folks/ nothing but the facts. Oh yeah, I guess I should say I’m a Republican who already voted by mail for Obama. :)))
Posted by: Patty from Phoenix, AZ | October 31, 2008, 4:54 pm 4:54 pm
This is the lead story in the “Investor’s Business Daily” and documents why the mortgage crises happened. It’s a bit of a “read” with a somewhat yearly blow-by-blow starting in the 1930′s creation of Fannie Mae.
Particularly concerning is the 1990′s depiction of Community Activist Obama & his ties to ACORN, and how that whole mess influenced our current (and future), problems. Pay particular attention to the time frame of 2006 when Republicans & John McCain tried to bring about needed change but were thwarted by a democratically controlled congress. I know some put Obama’s style above McCain’s substance; and that’s OK if you can live with yourself! But the article is interesting in it’s historic view of the mortgage process and social activism.
I believe every American should read it as it pertains to both our current candidates, and how they may act as a future president! I realize President Obama doesn’t have the experience to have had an earlier hand in fixing the mess, but “activist” Obama had a hand in creating it.
I have grandchildren that will be affected by the actions we take in coming elections and their abilities to obtain housing in the future may be in jeopardy by what we do now! Judge for yourself!

September 2007
President Bush: “These institutions provide liquidity in the mortgage market that benefits millions of homeowners, and it is vital they operate safely and operate soundly. So I’ve called on Congress to pass legislation that strengthens independent regulation of the GSEs. . . . The United States Senate needs to pass this legislation soon.”
This call out for regulation was shot down…by the democratic congress.
September 2008
Rep. Davis now admits Democrats were in error: “Like a lot of my Democratic colleagues, I was too slow to appreciate the recklessness of Fannie and Freddie. I defended their efforts to encourage affordable homeownership when in retrospect I should have heeded the concerns raised by their regulator in 2004. Frankly, I wish my Democratic colleagues would admit when it comes to Fannie and Freddie: We were wrong.”
Do your research people and stop being spoon fed from the media….Bush did not cause this!

1. It’s revelation, not revelations my “Christian” friends.
2. Ask McCain’s first wife about his honor and/or loyalty.
3. Palin is scary ignorant, and dont insult my pitbull.
4. If McCain was a maverick he wouldnt be branded with a big (R). Maverick = unbranded, look it up.
5. Old white men have not been doing a very good job and a minority or women needed to play devil’s advocate to the groupthink.
6. I do not know if Obama will be able to do everything he wants to do with the country in such a pickle.
7. Nobody can change DC until they institute term limits, which would LITERALLY change washington.
Posted by: IMPERCIPEINT | October 31, 2008, 5:17 pm 5:17 pm
And what is your response to this that “ohhh no this was all caused by Bush, certainly Bush caused the entire recession”. He was calling for regulation for christ’s sake, what don’t you get about that! Even members from your own party (people that are actually educated) admit that they made a mistake in allowing Fannie and Freddie to parade around handing out loans to anyone and everyone.

While I have the utmost respect for Senator McCain and what he has done for our country, I do feel as though Obama/Biden is the best choice for America.
There has been a lot of talk about experience, or rather Obama’s lack thereof, however, no one has taken into consideration the amount of experience George W. Bush had when he first took office and look at these past eight years and most importantly, the shape of our economy.
If Obama didn’t have the best interest of the American people at heart, I don’t think he would have devoted as much time as he did helping his fellow natives of Chicago immediately following law school. He could have easily taken a nice 6 figure job elsewhere with his education alone. Now that is who I want on my team!!!

frustrated – OK you have two choices

Sen Obama comes across as being an extremely eloquent and charismatic speaker, who seems to be what we are currently starving for in this country, but his seemingly shady background, lack of executive experience and honesty has, to this date, led me to have some concerns about casting my vote for him.

Lessons Learned: recently, we have come to realize the tragic results of what happens when we, over the years, have elected individuals who’s personal/career actions, prior to being elected to serve in this country’s highest leadership positions, were less than transparent and have been proven to be less than honest and trustworthy (e.g., Current Financial Crisis, etc.).
BOTTOM LINE: If my concern is, in fact, proven to have MERIT, which, tragically, the American public may NOT even find out until after this election is over and done with, all I can hope and pray for is that my concern is unfounded and, if it is NOT: Good Bless Our United (Not Divided) States of America.

Sherrie,
You write “Sarah Palin has more executive experience than either Obama or Biden.” and therefore we should not vote for them.
But if what you say is true, then doesn’t she also have more executive experience than John McCain? So if I understand your logic we should not vote for McCain either. Right?
What rubbish!

I’m going with ‘CHANGE’
These last years with morons is all I can take. I want to have hope for my son and his future, and it does not include McPain and Sailin.
Palin would only further divide this nation…SHE LIKES PRO-AMERICAN CITIES!
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN EXACTLY?????

I am not going by polls, I am going by my instinct and gut feeling, my gut feeling tells me Obama will win, not by a landslide, it will be close but Obama will win.

JimInFlBlueState – number one: you already said that comeback (if thats what you want to call it)? good one.
number two; once again you have yet to respond to anything I said…you are in denial the economy is not this way because of Bush it about time you admit the liberal ideas of lending to people less than qualified is what put us in this mess

These personal attacks on individual posters goes to show the divisiveness of this election. It does nothing but diminish all of us. It is un-American, un-christian and un-principled to attack the lives, livelihoods, religions etc of any person posting. This nation is great for it’s tolerance and ability to change to deny that history is to reject what is at the core of the American dream. We all have our own opinions of the candidates but let’s please stop trying to one up each other in some sad attempt to validate our own views. We are entitled to our own views… Long live the Constitution.

frustrated – OK you have two choices

I’m relieved to hear that steady, rational, calm, sticks to his plan Obama is ahead. I will promise to pray until election is over that he will be our next “in-touch president” Send the other 2 packing. They have reversed civil rights, lied, and oh please Sen McCain, I have been to Saddleback, want me to tell you why I know you heard everything? Sound is piped outdside in all the little bistro areas, even in bathrooms. So many lies. God sees the righteous and the sinner. Man oh man. I think I would memorize ps. #1 McCain.

I’m glad to hear that steady, rational, calm, sticks to his plan McCain is ahead (CNN poll, top story this web site, front page). Oh — wait, I omitted some information. Just like a biased survey. Well
ABC’s Top Headline Top Story at 9:46 p.m. mentioned an even more scientifically accurate correlation method that may just level the pollster playing field. “With striking accuracy, if the Redskins win their last home game before the election, the party that won the popular vote in the previous election is said to win the White House.” They say this predictor is on target all of the time. Now there is some balance to the reporting :>
As a side bar — the “enter the letters verification” that allows us to post explanation says it is using the verification method to prevent automated robots from adding to this blog. All robots are automated. Why doesn’t ABC prevent any artificial intelligence- from posting?

Can you just imagine Palin speaking to the world from the Rose Garden?? Talking unintelligible garbage full of whacko ideas? Critising all the time, unable to be constructive about anything. The prospect is terrifying.
I work & live overseas. While I’ll always remain proud of my country, to have an intemporate war-monger as my President, with a clownish beauty queen as his VP, would test my pride.
Obama is a 21st century politician. He is composed, he’s a listener, and he has a powerful intellect. He’s shrewd too. Unlike McCain, he doesn’t make a decision and then ask for opinions; he asks for opinions and then makes a decision. These are the qualities of wisdom.
Probably 90% of our planet want to take the lead from U.S. President Barack Obama. I will be very proud when that happens.

When Obama debated with Clinton, he replied to the comment about his supporter could not list any his accomplishment with “There are millions people voted for me, don’t you think they don’t know me!”
Don’t you think he sound just like the emperor with the new clothes that only the smart guys can see and dummies can’t?
If I can, I would draw a cartoon with a guy naked, yelling “Change!” and changed his hat every few years, with the last hat as a crown. In the background, young girls yelled “I have a crash!” and toddler Biden and toddler Clinton yelled: “The emperor has no clothes!”
When Obama attacking McCain as George W Bush, he forgot in one aspect he himself is really like George W Bush. George W Bush had very little national political experience, and more importantly, had no setbacks before elected president, which gave him a sense of invincibility after winning the presidential election and led us into the messes today. We just can’t afford to elect another guy without any setback and go into White House cockily. He might be ready to lead after a setback in 2008, but not in 2008.
Shareholders of Uncle Sam Corp. are holding a meeting to elect a new CEO. One of the popular candidates submitted a resume showing that he had no management experience and all major accomplishments are elected to more senior level of independent contributor positions. As a shareholder, are you going to vote for him?

I think a McCain victory would be a real uniter for our country. Once again we will be able to come together on a common ground and mend old wounds. We can meet new people that share our plight at unemployment lines, pawn and consignment shops and soup lines. Sadly, there will be a few that will be left out, those at the top of the food chain earning over $250,000 a year. They could care less for they will not have to pay any taxes under McCain’s plan, the tax burden will be the responsibility of us jerks on SS and others that earn less than 250 grand a year and are fortunate enough to still have a job.

I think we all need to be reminded there is a war going on and Obama and the democrats want to cut war spending and funding to our troops by 25% leaving our troops underpaid, outgunned, under armored and unsupplied. Please all John McCain supporters wear as much camoflauge clothing as possible for the next 4 days and remind voters of this fact. Our troops are still in Iraq and they will not want Obama as a President. Now 2 faced Obama is saying he did not support the economic bailout and criticizing John McCain for it when he also voted for it. Tie a yellow ribbon around the old oak tree! Remind our boys and girls over there we love them, want them to have a home to come home to. A home thats safe from harm. I agree with some of the posters here that Obama is like Fidel Castro promising to spread wealth and socialism and regime change like in 1960′s Cuba. How well has that worked out? If he doesnt know about his own Auntie do you want Obama in charge of national security??? As far as Sarah Palins medical records would you want your own medical records to be public knowledge? Thats private! Maybe under Obama everyones records will be public knowledge like in communist countries!

WHY I AM VOTING FOR SEN. OBAMA SO AS TO FURTHER THE AGENDA OF DR. RON PAUL
October 30, 2008
SUMMARY
I love and respect Dr. Ron Paul and Ms. Carol Paul. They are wise, loving and courageous.
I am voting for Senator Obama because if I vote for my candidate of choice, Dr. Ron Paul, we might see a repeat of the last election and end up with a warmongering, inarticulate, Republican warmongering President who never really had to live in my shoes as a member of the struggling middle-class.
I believe that the American People are slowly becoming wise enough to see through the blatant manipulation of election results by the mainstream media that is owned and controlled by big business and by the two reigning political parties.
I am confident that by the next Presidential election in 2012 that the majority of American Citizens will know about:
1) the beliefs and record of Dr. Ron Paul;
2) the weakness of our present two party system; and
3) the existence and party platforms of other alternatives such as Green, Constitution and Libertarian parties. I am confident that the REVOLUTION Dr. Ron Paul started against the big business controlled media and two reigning political parties will continue to benefit our nation for the greater good.
MY RATIONALE
Socialist Universal Health Insurance
I say – BRING IT ON! Our present health care system benefits big business and illegal aliens, not the American citizen or the American health care providers. I have lived without health insurance and I know from personal experience that the present system degrades the health of American Citizens on a daily basis. Once all Americans have health care – without the huge glut of illegal aliens – we can consider other options as Dr. Paul suggests. I see it as a possible evolution from where we are now to where we and Dr. Paul wants us to be.

Obama didn’t change a city as a community organizer, Obama didn’t change a state as a State Senator, Obama ran for president as a member if the Senate…not much change there. Obama could have changed the living conditions of an elderly Aunt by spreading HIS wealth around. At the very least Obama could have helped his elderly Aunt become a legal immigrant; he did NOT! I don’t think he can change a nation with that track record!-

Let’s see how much of this comes true…..
Change: The New World Order (based on the tried and failed old world order of socialism/Marxism which we now know Obama supports and was a member of the Socialist New Party, formed by former Communist Party Members)
Mark my word all you naive, blind sheeple…
50% or higher taxes for everyone except welfare recipients (“redistribution of wealth”)
Constitution changed to suit all Marxist agendas, including monetary reparations to all blacks for the plight of their ancestors (get in line Chinese, Native Americans, grandchildren of interned Japanese, all children of abused women, etc, etc.)
Land owned by the wealthy redistributed to the poor as more reparation
Nationalization of banks, oil companies, trains, airlines (Destruction of capitalism “trickle down theory doesn’t work”)
Closing down all conservative talk radio and commentary, all politically incorrect” speech jailed or harassed; re-education camps for conservatives (Remember those get in your face tactics Obama trained ACORN activists to use against those evil capitalists to coerce them into giving loans to the unqualified to destroy our economy?)
Children forced to attend public schools for indoctrination purposes; homeschooling outlawed. (per Obama’s Marxist inspired education foundation)
Guns outlawed entirely (cept for the outlaws) based on the new “evolving” constitution (voted to ban guns; quoted as saying the constitution should change with times)
Socialized medicine: long waits for poor services and surgeries in hands of lazy bureaucrats
All pregnant teens forced to have abortions (BO: “wouldn’t want my daughters punished with babies”)
No response to Iran nuking Israel and Russian taking Georgia and other countries (Biden: we will be tested and our response may seem wrong at first”
Trade and recognition of Cuba, Venezuela, Hamas and other Islamofascist and Marxist dictatorships
Establishment of Sharia law for all American Muslims, no restrictions on Islamic immigration

What is the big deal of voting for a black man? I can’t stand it anymore, people saying he has a funny name, he’s not black enough, and not a U.S. Citizen. C’mon people grow up! It’s only skin color! What is the big deal? He is just getting so many biased comments because of his race. Grow up people!
Obama is a young man with alot of energy, he could bring new ideas to the table. He may not be able to implement all of his ideas but atleast some will give us hope. Obama can strengthen our government again. OBAMA/BIDEN 08!

shay – you obviously have not educated yourself one bit to think that bush caused this entire recession. This was caused by subprime mortgage (im sorry if that is out of your vocabulary)….this type of lending started being encouraged way back in the clinton administration….Bush was calling for regulation, REGULATION, which got shot down my the democrats wanting to ‘spread the wealth’ and let any idiot buy a home. Also, democrats are in control of congress now ironically two years ago when things starting turning ugly. There is this thing called checks and balances…you know meaning the president can hardly be mistaken for having all the power. Do some research and make an educated choice…..I am so sick of these obama supporters just listening to everything the media says and not actually knowning ANYTHING that is going on, it’s so annoying! If you are voting for Obama and have done your research and have valid arguments then I respect that…but for God’s sake don’t just listen to the biased media and be swayed into Obamas PR blitz…running a country is not about being a good public speaker promising the world to you.

Post Halloween News Story:
TRICK or TREAT: Many polls indicate that the great “masked” one appearing as Robin Hood, The Chosen Elite One, will win at the Presidential Halloween Party on Tuesday. Yes, “that one” named Barrack Hussein Obama is the front runner for the Best Overall TRICK. Seemingly, he is fooling a vast number of the American serfs with his middle of the road image, promised tax cuts, and reaches across the aisle (of course, none of this is true). If he wins, the Treat will be that all Americans will get to pay much more Taxes (income, inheritance, payroll, capital gains, etc.) for the Re-distribution Machine of Sherwood Forest. Sadly, both the TRICK and TREAT are on all of Us !! Remember economic reality. Voters decide the Future, NOT the ghoulish trolls of the biased Media !

Experience…McCain?
Numbers that add up to nothing! to quote a Neil Young verse (72).
As for leadership…shot down doing bombing raids in Vietnam, then does 4/5 years without being killed! Reminds me of “Fortunate Son” Forgarty with a twist he’s no “hero” just the perverted way people like to see things!
Republicans are finding it difficult to deal with and that’s real damn good, you know who to blame!

I love the smell of panic in the morning; reminds me of Victory! When one is ahead, tell the supporters not to get confident. When one is behind, say the polls are all wrong (they haven’t been on election day for decades) AND blame the media or lack of money.

My dear Get Some Knowledge:
You are absolutely right- this is not about a public speaker running this country. It’s about a real man who can actually speak words of their own. It’s about someone who understands the decency and skill to speak before fighting. It’s about someone who realizes that this country is his family and will treat us as such. Self-respect has to step in at some point, but of course you McCrazies won’t care because you can’t see past the higher taxes you’re gonna pay!
As far as an educated choice, how educated are you to vote for someone whose strategy is to degrade his opponent instead of sticking to the issues. I guess McCrazy made an educated decision by selecting Palin?
Posted by: peachy | November 3, 2008, 12:37 pm 12:37 pm
peachy – You didn’t respond to anything that I brought up. Why don’t you give some real reasons for supporting Obama based on policies and why they would work, then I will respect your decision. This recession was caused by the democrats philosophy of spreading the wealth, but I’m sure you weren’t even aware this recession is tagged “sub-prime mortgage crisis”. You think that right now raising taxes on corporations and the individuals creating jobs is going to help! Wow. And don’t say ohh the corporations are shipping jobs overseas, they are evil, blah blah…well why do you think they have outsourced? it’s cheaper, if you want to see more of that then yeah lets raise taxes. And you say “speak before fighting” I don’t know what you are on but you cannot negotiat with terroists, seriously?? thats what you came up with? And I prefer not to elect someone that surrounds himself with such questionable characters.
Posted by: get some knowledge | November 3, 2008, 2:44 pm 2:44 pm
I like how no one even mentions subprimes mortgage but yet that is what caused this whole recession in the first place. It really shows how little these people know what’s going on.
Even the dems admit their error and turning down bush’s calls for regulation.
2007-08
The housing bubble began to burst, bad mortgages began to default and finally the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac portfolios were revealed to be in collapse. And the testimony is evident as to why. As Wallison put it, “Fannie and Freddie were . . . the poster children for corporate welfare.”

Get Some Knowledge, first of all, the DEMS do not have total control of the house, but we will. Secondly, you can’t JUST talk to terrorists, but you can’t act like one either. McCain has already said that he feels its ok to bomb other countries at will, as we are now, and I guess you think that’s a good idea.
And about those corps that will send more business overseas, GO AHEAD!! They do it now, but they get tax breaks. Why pat them on the back with huge tax breaks for sending much needed American jobs to other countries? So fine, you want to employ cheap labor.. Go Ahead. The money McCain gives you to do that will no longer be available and will instead be used to create new jobs here.
Obama’s intentions are far better than McCain’s proposal and that’s what makes him THAT ONE.
And, no this financial crisis was not just due to the “sub prime mortgage crisis”, it was also due to an unnecessary war. We’ve been in Iraq for how many yrs at 10 billion a month and too many people seem to be ok with that.
Questionable characters?? I don’t even need to mention Sarah Palin, who abused her power for personal reasons or anything else she represents. But I will mention McCain’s campaign mgr, Rick, who is VERY questionable. Have you reviewed anything about his bio?
Neither candidate is a perfect human being or perfect for the White House, but for me and my beliefs, McCain is not the quality choice. For some, experience is more important, but exactly what experience are we referring to? Experience comes in different platforms and Obama’s platform is much more promising for me and my kids. Nothing can be solved immediately and I agree with change occurring over a time period. That’s why Obama as outlined the plan for the future, which we would all have to work towards. Unfortunately, we all want an easy fix and we want it right now. More unfortunately, is that the easy fix is not always the best option. Success over time last longer than the promise of the present.
Posted by: peachy | November 3, 2008, 4:24 pm 4:24 pm
“you can’t JUST talk to terrorists, but you can’t act like one either. McCain has already said that he feels its ok to bomb other countries at will, as we are now, and I guess you think that’s a good idea.”
So then what do you propose we do? Make a time table for the war, that is utterly ridiculous. The surge has been working and it’s about time you guys admit that. We have also had no terroist attacks which makes me feel a lot more secure. Also, I know a lot of Dems that bring up that McCain saying he wanted a 100-year war, that was taken completely out of context. He said he would stay there as long as necessary to leave them stable and get the job done. This is what I believe is the right and obvious thing to do. I feel it would be dishonorable to our soldiers to just say, “welp we gave it our best shot let’s just leave and then we can TALK about it.” That’s just my opinion. The media is so bias in covering the war on Iraq, all they report is casualties. Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying they shouldn’t focus on this, but it should be among other things, like the good things we have done, like trying to keep Iraqi children safe and giving these people a government where they can be free and stable(kind of like we are now if Obama doesn’t win). Also, if you compare our rate of casualties to that of the Vietnam War and WWII, etc it isn’t even comparable. Our goal has been to minimize casualties and I believe we are doing our best to do that. I have nothing but complete respect for all our soldiers.
So, yes you were right in saying that the war also played a toll in this recession along with sub-prime mortgages. Sub-prime mortgages were given out starting with the Clinton administration and the Dems philosophy of spreading the wealth. Yes, the Dems weren’t completely in power however Bush was calling for regulation (the completely opposite of handing them out in case you didn’t catch on to that) which they shot down. On the other hand, the war was what Bush considered our best option at that time and then generally people agreed. As Condaleeza Rice put it, “The story is there for everyone to see, you can’t now transplant yourself into the present and say we should have known what we in fact did not know in 2001 and 2002. … The record on weapons of mass destruction was one that appeared to be very clear.” I think this sums it up, you can’t use the position that we are in today to say that we made the wrong decisions then, back then it was seen as the right thing to do by many, no one was bitchin and moaning.
However I do respect your opinion, only for the fact that it is better than all the other uneducated Dems that say they want change and that is the only thing they know about the election and have done no research. (ps can I just say duhhh every new presidential candidate wants change, have you ever heard someone say “yeah lets keep everything exactly the same, nice work on that one Obama you really picked an easy route)
Posted by: Get some knowledge. | November 4, 2008, 10:23 am 10:23 am
Well thank you, Get some knowledge:
There have been so many things said by both candidates that were taken out of context, but it hasn’t stopped them from spreading like wildfires. I said in a previous comment that it is absolutely ok for decisions to be made, but when you see that the decision is not working, you must try something else. I agreed, myself, to the war at the beginning, but understanding that at one point we weren’t wanted over there, I was not as big of a supporter as before. Then after the numerous lives lost and even hearing veterans and military families begging for an end, I knew it was time to transition our folks out of there. I wouldn’t dream of Bush, Obama or McCain doing anything drastic, but if Bush had at least admitted that we were in trouble, perhaps that would have been the start of us thinking more uniformly to propose a better plan. (just wishful praying)
And exactly what does “get the job done” mean? What exactly are we doing at this point? I know safety is very important, but with so many of our troops there, how safe are we here? No, we haven’t had any attacks, but while we are so busy “growing” Iraq, what do you suppose other terrorists are doing? Just sitting back to see how well we fare? Or possibly planning another attack in lieu of our semi-defenseless homeland? I’m not one to back down from a good fight either, but I am not quick to jump at one because the opportunity presents itself. Going to Iraq seemed like the right thing to do because we were all so angry, and I don’t regret the decision to go- I just regret being there so long. We were violated and had every right to defend our country and our honor. I, too, admire those who give/gave their lives for this country, but shouldn’t the country be something worth fighting for? McCain has done his service and that can’t be taken away from him, but he is not fit to run this country at this hour, in this time. I strongly believe that if he were to win, it would not be him in charge, it would actually be the voice of those who coach him – the way they do now. You commented about us helping the Iraqi children have safety. Do we not have children here who deserve the same? Why is saving another country more important than saving home? Why is setting up another country’s economics and government worth our economic crisis and government overturn? I don’t mean to sound selfish, but when did this country fall second to another, by choice?
At work, I speak to people all day, everyday crying because they need money to stop foreclosures, or because they’ve lost their jobs, or because they can’t pay their medical bills. It’s extremely disheartening, but it’s real. Part of being a great person, or even a great country, is to know who you are and who you’re not, and work like there’s no tomorrow to be all you need to be to survive and to flourish. Unfortunately, if McCain wins we won’t flourish, we’ll fail even more. Countries don’t see McCain as someone to be feared, they see him as an unstable, easy target because he is just not capable of presidency. Chk out MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann’s commentary on the things McCain has said during his campaign. How can you truly believe that he can lead when he can’t remember the names countries, people or refer to American as PRISONERS? He wasn’t too far off on that one because we really are prisoners of this war.
We’ve lost so many resources, beyond the money and casualties, because of this war. My prayer is that it will end peacefully and with dignity, but most importantly, with uniformity form us here at home. So, yes, I so eagerly want CHANGE and what Obama has laid out for me, shows what can be, even in the wide mouth of what already is.
