Obama-Backing Senator Makes Crack About McCain Wearing Adult Diapers

At a business summit on energy, Politickerma.com reports, a prominent supporter of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Mass., made a crack about Sen. John McCain’s age.

"These are the exciting last two week moments of the presidential campaign," said Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., today in Cambridge, Mass. "So it’s a very special time. I can’t wait for it to be over. I am so tired of the press’ silly questions that they ask along the way. And cable television which reduces everything to stupidity – the lowest common denominator of conflict."

"I don’t know if any of you know what it’s like. I do, obviously," Kerry told the crowd. "I’ve been asked all of those brilliant questions that were repeated this year…Barack got asked the famous boxers or briefs question. I was tempted to say commando…

"Then they asked McCain and McCain said, ‘Depends,’" Kerry said.

I remember you making the same “Depends” joke not too long ago, Jake.

Posted by: Virginian Marine | October 20, 2008, 3:06 pm 3:06 pm

I thought the joke was: “What does John McCain mean when he talks about change?”

“Depends.”

It’s benieth Kerry to make either joke. And I think you can go out on a limb and call Kerry by his name, rather than “Obama-backing Senator.” I would imagine your readership is bright enough to know who John Kerry is.

The crack is at your stupidity, you the media.
It is not about McCain. But clearly, you make the point that Kerry is right. Not focusing on issues, but on jokes.

I am not for Obama and neither are a lot of people I know that were backing him 2 months ago. I am already sick of Obama and he is not in office yet. Now he is going to plug up the airwaves with 30 minute Tv spots on the 29th of October, on abc, cbs, nbc, fox news for 15 minutes, msnbc.
If he is so ahead in the polls why not just send the campaign contribution back to the people and not waste money on TV spots you don’t need because you are winning. I voted for him in the primary but I wont in the general.

Political Punch – October 12, 2008 12:38 PM
“What’s the Difference Between Ageism and Other Forms of Bias? Depends.”
Maybe you were really only using that in a tongue-in-cheek fashion – but maybe you enjoyed it a little too, Mr. Tapper.
I laughed, but it’s not very nice – you’re right.
Time for this election to be over. It’s getting pretty nasty out there.

Not appropriate from Sen. Kerry. It’s beneath him, tastless, and doesn’t help Obama at all.

Never, ever forget this fact. In the last ten years, since H.U.D. begin pushing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to make sub-prime loans to low-income (primarily democratic-voting) applicants, the U.S. Senators who were far away the most bribed [sorry, who got the most from the to FMs) were Chris Dodd (D-CN), Hillary Clinton (D-NY), John [Chuckles) Kerry (D-MS) and most recently, the JUNIOR senator from Illinois – Barack Obama. Too bad Senator Kerry didn’t have time to keep an eye on the institutions that got the first $300-Billion bail-out. You can only blame “W” for so much of this mess, especially since the White House made three specific attempts to rein in the to FMs between 05 and 08. Of course the fact the Barney’s boyfriend was head of the H.U.D. program for several years probably didn’t help, either. Whatever they find in those Depends, John Kerry has always had loads of his own.

“If he is so ahead in the polls why not just send the campaign contribution back to the people and not waste money”

It’s only getting worse for John McCain’s campaign manager, Rick Davis. Following the news that Davis was paid $2 million over five years as president of an advocacy group set up by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the New York Times now reports that Freddie Mac paid Davis’s lobbying firm $15,000 a month up until last month. The firm was kept on the payroll because of Davis’s close ties to McCain. The news comes after McCain insisted that Davis has had no involvement with Freddie Mac for several years, leading progressive bloggers to wonder whether McCain lied to Americans or whether Davis lied to McCain.

Gety a life folks he was slamming the media, but the media in it’s true form doesn’t understand the english language, and again goes for the lowest common denominator. Just check this post.

Posted by: Thinking | October 20, 2008, 3:32 pm 3:32 pm

Kerry is a goofball. First of all… it’s an old joke and it’s not that funny. But also, it is kind of mean-spirited.
I get the sense the Kerry is still bitter about what Republicans did to him in 2004.

Posted by: Blip | October 20, 2008, 3:38 pm 3:38 pm

There is a difference here:
Kerry is just making a mean off the cuff joke.
McCain is paying people millions of dollars to promote focus-group tested smears.
One is pre-meditated and performed with the consent and material support of a political campaign… the other is just some bitter guy talking without thinking.

Um, it’s a joke for one. Two, it is not mean spirited (unless people think the comedy routines by Obama & McCain at the Al Smith Foundation fundraiser were mean spirited) but funny. Finally, Kerry is only a few years younger than McCain, so he is kind of an old man as well.
And, actually, why am I having to defend this? Is the idea here that McCain can’t take a lighthearted joke that has been told before?

It’s a mild joke: Kerry is a master of the malaprop, but the conservative will seize upon anything right now in their desperation. The joke has been on the American people for the last 8 years, with the venal and short-sighted buffoon in office . Tax cuts with an increase in spending…and McSame agreed with him over 90% of the time. If he somehow comes back and win, the real punchline will be if his ancient bones do creak too much, we’ll have Caribou Barbie as president. Now that would be rich…wouldn’t it?

Posted by: Herb Greenebaum | October 20, 2008, 4:36 pm 4:36 pm

It’s usually only funny to the Repubs when it’s about a Dem. And same thing with the Dems, only funny when it’s about a Repub. Otherwise they are both crying about “negative campaigning”. The personal attacks are getting stale no matter which side engages in them. Unfortunately, for some partisan diehards, it’s never enough to simply disagree with the opposing candidate – the opposing candidate must be made into an evil sniveling dolt. There is probably some psychological reason for this need. Perhaps these partisans get so emotionally involved they loose objectivity – so that any disagreement is taken as personal.

Molly: A disgrace is correct. Kerry should use better commonsense in his statements. No candidate or president ever make a comment like that. I don’t know why he is supporting Obama when he was in the Viet Nam war himself at the same time as McCain. And when the Swift Boat was making comments about Kerry McCain defended that. Obama was so anxious to run for president he could taste it everyday. He was never a community organizer, he was organizing himself for a senate seat and then the presidency. Obama wants control of this country like what is done in Kenya only the people are so dumb they can’t see it in his speeches when he is talking. If elected look for this country to be in the biggest mess in history.

By the way I am a Democrat but I would never vote for those people- I also might add Joe Biden is the stupidest piece of humanity that I have ever seen, Vice President, No I don’t think so – He’s a nut case, perhaps he can go down to Rosies Diner in Wilmington and have a 20 year old piece of “Sweet Potato Pie” for his buddy Obama.

Obama with his favorite message: are you better off now than four years ago. Well, I got news for him, nothing has changed, the economy is good but bad for the banks and lenders. Powell wanted to stay in politics and he knew Obama would choose him as an advisor. What happened to secretary of state? This is a race issue not a political issue. The Bradley Effect has been floating througout the media and Powell feared it would make McCain win the election. What difference would it make. Both are republicans. But McCain isn’t black.

Posted by: Mariann Pepitone | October 20, 2008, 5:09 pm 5:09 pm

Here’s a riddle for all the mudslinging Obamabots and media fiends with a tingle running up their legs.
Q: “How many people are tired of being belittled for not supporting Obama?” A: We’ll know on election day.
Whether you supported HRC or always liked McCain, you know how it feels to have the media and bots turn on you. You don’t like Obama? You must be ‘uneducated’, ‘overly-wealthy’, ‘old’, ‘racist’, etc.
Talk about the ‘endless Wright loops?’ How about characterizing McCain supporters as crazy ladies asking about Obama being a Muslim? How many times did the media loop that one this month? SNL picked it up in Weekend Update. Did I miss the SNL skit on Wright??
Bottom line – people don’t like being ridiculed or belittled. Some will lie in polls – i.e. Bradley effect – for fear of being judged racist. Others just stop communicating. They keep their opinions to themselves for now – but I suspect they will find their voices on election day.
The race may be tighter than appearances. Who’ll win? To borrow a line from Sen. Kerry…depends…

Posted by: SilentMajority | October 20, 2008, 5:10 pm 5:10 pm

Brigette: Apparently you don’t understand the news on TV. Joe the plumber said that Obama’s tax plan is a socialist. And it was also confirmed by a financial director on the Huckabee show. Kerry is just upset because he thinks McCain has the advantage over Obama and I now do. I do not believe the inflated polls because they are incorrect. These are the same polls when Hillary was running and winning they had the polls ahead for Obama but Hillary won the four states they had Obama winning. They really are going to eat crow again because its not over and I believe McCain is gaining on Obama.

When Biden was running in the primaries he stated that Obama wasn’t experienced enough to be president, now he is the VP and claiming Obama is not ready. I hope FOX plays that over and over. Imagine for a few moments that you are the human
resources director of a major multi-billion dollar
corporation. You are sitting in your large,
luxurious office when you receive a phone call from
the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
He tells you that the board is considering a
candidate for a high-level executive position. He
advises you to complete a thorough background
investigation and have it to him within 10 days.
You immediately call the private detective agency
you have used for years and give them the name and
address of the prospective candidate, along with the
deadline for a high level security clearance.
Your next move is to call your assistant to your
office, giving him/her the candidate’s personal
information along with instructions to ‘do your
standard beginning background checks.’
Preliminary findings begin landing in your fax
machine on the third day.
* Your candidate has used more than one name.
* His original birth certificate is unavailable, and
* he was mentored during his youth by a high level
communist in Hawaii.
* You receive a 3 page ‘dossier’ on Frank Marshall
Davis.
* You also learn the candidate was proctored into an
elite Eastern private university by a middle eastern
Muslim.
* You receive a short dossier on Khalid al-Mansour.
* You learn the candidate has terrorist organization
‘Nations of Islam’ employees on his current staff,
and one of his advisers is a member of the global
terrorist group ‘Muslim Brotherhood.’
On day four, you receive in the mail from the
security agency two books the candidate has written.
You read both books, highlighting the anti-American,
anti-white racist passages. You note the admissions
of drug use.
You also receive in the packet a copy of the bitter
anti-white thesis his wife wrote as a college
undergraduate.
You receive a 4 page fax on the candidate’s
relative, Raila Odinga, who is connected with brutal
Muslim politics in Africa, and background
information on the candidate’s estranged father who
was part of Kenya’s most corrupt regime.
The fifth day brings to your special delivery mail
* the complete background on Bill Ayers; his
association with your candidate, his FBI criminal
record, and
* a copy of the book ‘Rules for Radicals’ written by
communist Saul Alinsky.
* You are advised your candidate used tactics from
‘Rules for Radicals’ at his previous employment.
* You are advised the candidate’s wife used an
excerpt from this book during a recent speech.
You receive by fax, a background on A.C.O.R.N. and
an alert
* that this group is being watched by the U.S.
Department of Justice and other state and local law
enforcement agencies.
* You learn your candidate is endorsed by every
Muslim terrorist organization on Earth; that he
holds Muslim beliefs.
* His friend, Louis Farrakhan, is head of Nations of
Islam
.
* You learn that the candidate’s pastor met with
global terrorist Mohmmar Gaddafi in Libya, along
with their mutual friend and anti-American Louis
Farrakhan.
* You receive printed transcripts of his pastor’s
anti-White, anti-American ‘sermons’ and are advised
your candidate has been close personal friends with
this ‘pastor’ for two decades.
* Your candidate has referred to this radical pastor
as his ‘personal spiritual adviser,’ and in fact,
the title of one of your candidates memoirs was
inspired by a line from this pastor’s ‘sermons.’
In your fax machine on the sixth morning is
* a file on one Tony Rezko; his friendship,
associations and business transactions with your
candidate, as well as high level ‘people’ of middle
eastern origin, and his federal conviction.
You will spend most of day seven compiling a file on
the candidate, The Obama File , complete with
footnotes and cross references.
Additional information is arriving regarding the
candidate’s friends and acquaintances during
college, and you learn that
* he did not run with a mainstream crowd, but chose
radicals and communist agitators for his social
group.
The morning of the eighth day has arrived and you
and your assistant have placed a small mountain of
background information into manageable ‘piles’
including
* photographs of the candidate’s family in Africa,
* he and George Soros (including a brief file on the
Soros ‘Open Society Institute’),
* photos of the candidate and Louis Farrakhan and
anti-Israel Arafat adviser Edward Said.
You begin to outline and write your ‘Summary
Evaluation’ to the Chairman of the Board of
Directors:
* This candidate has a tissue thin work experience
resume.
* He has not managed large groups of personnel,
departments, material, or P&L statements.
* This candidate’s own writing exhibits a
deep-seeded anger and resentment towards people of
the Caucasian race over the issue of slavery.
* His emotional gravitas is centered upon his
African heritage, and his belief that the white man
is responsible for global poverty and unequal
sharing of wealth.
* The candidate’s personal associations since
childhood have been mostly with radical African
Americans, Muslims, and communists; those who harbor
anger towards The United States of America.
* Particularly disturbing is his lengthy
relationship with Bill Ayers, an unrepentant
Weatherman radical who bombed government buildings
and abdicated the overthrow of the United States.
* Given the current global situation of nearly
twelve thousand Muslim acts of terrorism since 911,
it is disturbing to find his close associations with
Muslim groups
* I have highlighted passages in both books and find
one particularly disturbing: ‘Should the political
winds shift in an ugly direction I will side with
the Muslims.’
* The candidate has surrounded himself with
anti-American grievance mongers, and appears to
manipulate ‘typical white people’ by appealing to
their guilt about slavery.
* He is a socialist, and totally disenfranchised
from the history of ‘root America.’
* The candidate refuses to discuss his years at
Columbia University, although he lived off campus
and made few friends.
* He will not release his application to the state
bar notes which raises questions on several issues
including the use of drugs.
* Very little is available about his experience with
the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a foundation that
spent $100 million with no discernible benefit for
the schools and students that it was putatively
designed to help
It is therefore my strongest recommendation this
candidate not be considered for any position within
the corporation.

That comment was not approriate or funny.
Marianne – If You’re worried about socialism, it would have been good to start your crusade a few years ago – when George Bush started selling us to the communist Chinese regime – we are now in debt to them for nearly $400 billion dollars. That’s a lot of leverage. You also should have been on the barrincades when Paulson and Bush shoved their bailout package down our throats. Item 5. of the Commmunist Manifesto reads as follows: Centralisation of credit in the hands of the State, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly. We now own more shares of the real estate and finance companies in American than any private entity. It’s called nationaism – or in other words, socialism. It did not come about through Barack Obama. It came about because of laws passed by John McCain’s economic advisor Phill Gramm, and rampant, unregulated free markets. it didn’t work. Most Americans are now scared they won’t be able to sent their kids to college.

I agree with you.
Today’s Democrats refuse to acknowledge that Obama has chinks in his “armor” which he tries to strengthen with the vast amount of money he has raised for this election.
So should you mention “Acorn”, they immediately discredit you… even though the proof of their fraudulent actions in tampering with our voter registration records has been proven!
Should you mention “Ayers” they bring up the age difference between the two… even though when they met, Obama was a grown man searching for a political step up…. which Ayers afforded him by introducing him to Annenberg and a job with Acorn…..
No mention is ever made of what “radical” education they were pushing…..
AND..
Whenever Palin is mentioned, the air crackles with negativity….
Nonetheless, she has accomplished a heck of a lot more for HER state (an annual stipend for each and every constituent, complements of Big Business!)
Had she NOT tried to kick her ex-brother-law off the force for tazering his eleven year old son I would have been disgusted with her.
Her only fault was in trying to have the situation remedied by the police….
She should just have done it herself!
The truth is…. Obama is scared of her because she has acomplished more than he has!

BrigetteJ said: I normally don’t get into name-calling, but since McCain’s calling Obama a socialist, I think it’s only fair for Kerry to say that McCain wears depends…….
So you would agree, that socialism is a bad word, and shouldn’t be labeled on anyone. While you agree that name calling, and jokes like that, are inappropriate. I’ve known people Kerrys age that wore them. It’s not so funny. I know mothers of newborns that wear them because of the pressure a baby can cause. It’s cruel, and disgusting, and shows how low people will go, when they think they’re funny. The operative word here….THINK!!!
Now..that being said. Here is a definition of Socialism.
An “economic, social and political doctrine which expresses the struggle for the equal distribution of wealth by eliminating private property and the exploitative ruling class. …

“Ask Obama about his campaign contributions from Fannie and Freddie. Look it up”
Rick Davis’s firm took in $280K just for 2008 from Fannie Mae. He also made several million dollars in the previous years. They were collecting $15,000 a month until Aug and the scandal hit.
Obama’s total contributions from Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac are less than half that total(about $130K).
The Republicans controlled Congress in 2005 & 2006. McCain did not cosponsor S.190 until it had been dead in committee for over a year.

McCain did not cosponsor S.190 until May of 2006.
In 2006 Obama authored a bill addressing mortgage fraud (it also remained in committee)
“However Barack likes to say that he sponsored a bill to put transparency in the ear mark problem. Half true… Obama was CO sponsor and not the original sponsor. McCain can crack good jokes, Obama can’t, as evident at honorary dinner over the weekend. Kerry also lame at joke making…Dems have lousey timing.

BUT
“John McCain cosponsored the original bill.”
and don’t forget it!

The Kerry joke is an old one that was used on Bob Dole. It went over as well as when he joked about uneducated troops being “stuck” in Iraq in 2006. It was wrong then and it’s wrong now. Why didn’t Obama come out and condemn this comment? He didn’t condemn the remark in 2006 and he won’t condemn this one. The era of hyper-partisanship will begin with election of Barack Obama.

this is exactly the dignity, grace and class that we have come to expect from the democrats.

This is the final word on this. Agism is as bad as racism and if some McCain supporter made a black joke, Dems would go ballistic and rightly so. Kerry is a piece of crap that we as a nation said no thank you to 4 years ago and he is still bitter. No matter who you support in thic election, if you don’t agree you also lack class.

Posted by: Jennifer | October 20, 2008, 7:51 pm 7:51 pm

the lies, the baiting, the re herrings, the manipulation, the greed, the American people expect it from you Republicans. We see through you, and you will no only lose the presidential election but you will lose more seats in congress. Start treating the process with some respect or you are going the way of the Whigs.

Posted by: Gregg | October 20, 2008, 7:51 pm 7:51 pm

if a Republican had made a remark nearly as nasty, it would lead every newscast in the mainstream media. Democrats can be as nasty and low as they want with few repercussions. If Obama is elected, we will see the same nastiest and hate toward anyone who does not agree with him and his Democrat cronies 100% of the time.

How Reason Works
What if Obama had the strongest record of bipartisanship in the Senate, with major bills to his credit like the 2002 McCain-Feingold campaign reform, the 2003 McCain-Lieberman climate stewardship and the 2007 McCain-Kennedy immigration reform acts.
What if McCain had the most extreme partisan voting record in the Senate?
What if Obama offered a broad, sensible energy policy that embraced both emerging and current resources, including building the greenest power plants possible with nukes?
What if McCain declared that the nuclear waste technology we’ve invested hundreds of billions in over the last three decades is unacceptable, and refused to build nukes until we invent something better than Yucca Mountain?
What if Obama offered sensible tax policies that have historically led to healthy business growth and financial freedom for more Americans?
What if McCain promised to cut taxes for 95% of us while proposing almost a trillion dollars in new spending?
What if Obama had called for reform and oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in 2006 that could have prevented the current financial collapse, only to have his efforts squashed by the opposition party?
What if McCain was the second highest recipient of political donations from Fannie and Freddie in his short Senate career, and had the former head of Freddie heading up his VP-vetting team, and the WaPo published the fact that the disgraced former head of Fannie was a financial advisor to his campaign?
What if Obama had been the leading supporter of the surge strategy that has won the war in Iraq?
What if McCain’s primary claim to fame was his leading the charge to lose the war by withdrawing all our forces in Iraq where Al Qaeda declared their new caliphate?
What if Michelle Obama devoted her time and wealth to charitable organizations over the last couple of decades, and she adopted a Bangladeshi girl with a cleft palate on a visit to one of Mother Teresa’s orphanages?
What if Cindy McCain got a $200,000 raise in her job as a Community Relations Director in a hospital when her husband became a Senator, and once in the Senate her husband put in a $1M earmark for her employer U of Chi Hospital, and she declared that when her husband won the nomination for Presidency was the first time she was really proud of her country?
What if Joe Biden had a proven record of opposing his own party and winning, and confronting Big Oil and winning, and sharing the revenues he levied on Big Oil with the citizens of his state?
What if Sarah Palin imagined we and the French “kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon” and said President Roosevelt “went on TV in 1929″ (before TV existed) to talk to Americans about the Depression (before FDR became President in 1933)?
Well, hell, I’d vote for Obama. There’s nothing racist about it.

It succeeded beyond Axelrod’s wildest dreams, as he whipped a very competent incumbent, Republican Lt. Governor. I am so glad that the northeastern highly educated elitists like Barack and Joe and John as well as the media know what’s best for me. When Barack is elected I can fire all my employees and sign up for health care and wait for Joe the Plumber’s wealth to be spread around to me. I am so tired of risk taking and hard work and paying for healthcare and my mortgage. I can’t wait!

Ryan C, you are regurgitating the same tripe in hoping that it will one day be true, but the truth is that the Swift Boat Veterans were NEVER disproven. You know that, though, I am sure.

“testified against his fellow vets, making up lies”
Kerry was testifying against the government’s policy in Vietnam, not the troops.
Americans don’t like wiping out thousands of innocent people as a matter of instituted military policy.

Posted by: Ryan c | October 20, 2008, 8:38 pm 8:38 pm

How pointless is your statement? Sounds like sour grapes, do you have an axe to grind?
Hmmm…How sad is it that a candidate for the highest office in the USA can say that he voted “present” more often than making a decision, that he is oblivious to racism coming from his own church pulpit, and condemns anyone who challenges him on issues “JOE THE PLUMBER.”
The last one took him to task. God help us bitter individuals (“I better cling to my gun, and religion”) if we are crazy enough to elect this socialist, who has been on “the dole” to any other public office.
When he does lose (this election), he will be buried by Hillary Clinton with a “I told you so.”
Thereby relegating him to another book tour, maybe with the proceeds going to ACORN to help bailout their law breaking personnel in OHio….

Posted by: l_tag9 | October 20, 2008, 8:38 pm 8:38 pm

I agree that Kerry has a lot to be ashamed of. Just don’t let the fact that he did serve be one of them. Let it be what he tried to do with it. Most veterans from combat only talk of it with others who shared the same thing. McCain brings his up to show he has the strength and courage to tackle anything that comes his way. He may have broke as all do but he didn’t take the early release before others and was tortured more severly because of it. Willing to take punishment to see something through is my kind of person.

“but the truth is that the Swift Boat Veterans were NEVER disproven”
Several major newspapers were also skeptical of the SBVT allegations. For example, a New York Times news article stated, “on close examination, the accounts of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth prove to be riddled with inconsistencies.”
Regarding the medal dispute, a Los Angeles Times editorial stated, “Not limited by the conventions of our colleagues in the newsroom, we can say it outright: These charges against John Kerry are false.” The editorial argued this position on the basis that “Kerry is backed by almost all those who witnessed the events in question, as well as by documentation.” On August 22, 2004 The Washington Post reported: “An investigation by The Washington Post into what happened that day suggests that both sides have withheld information from the public record and provided an incomplete, and sometimes inaccurate, picture of what took place. But although Kerry’s accusers have succeeded in raising doubts about his war record, they have failed to come up with sufficient evidence to prove him a liar.”
The ABC television show Nightline traveled to Vietnam and interviewed Vietnamese who were involved in the battle for which Kerry was awarded the Silver Star. These witnesses disputed O’Neill’s charge that there “was little or no fire” that day; they said that the fighting was fierce. SBVT supporters question whether these witnesses are reliable because they spoke “in the presence of a Communist official”, but their account of enemy fire is substantially the same as that previously given by another former VC to an AP reporter and by the American witnesses, including the only SBVT member who was actually present that day, Larry Clayton Lee. ABC News’s The Note opined, “the Swift Boat ad and their primary charges about Kerry’s medals are personal, negative, extremely suspect, or false.”

That’s just off the top of my head.

Funny coming from someone regurgitating Rush.
The most liberal claim is based on a National Journal survey. In 2007 when he missed 33 of the 99 votes studied to determine a rating, Obama rated as the most liberal Senator. In 2006 he was the 10th. In 20056 he was the 14th.

Yes it was quite horrible when right winger and conservatives turned their backs on our Vietnam veterans because they had lost to say nothing of the fight for care for PTSD among other things. That’s a shame that will haunt us for a very long time.
I would tend to accept you as a veteran but I watch you say nothing as right wingers insult Kerry’s service.
Even John McCain felt he had to say something.

He wanted a gotcha question for Obama.
Nothing would have come of it if McCain had not made him a household name in the debate.

“it looks like our Armed Forces are not interested in an Obama Presidency”
The Center for Responsive Politics, which analyzes campaign finance data, reports that a surge of donations for Mr. McCain in the final months he was able to accept campaign contributions moved him into the lead. By the end of August, Mr. McCain received $461,350 from military donors to $450,950 for Mr. Obama.
One of the interesting trends of the election was that anti-war candidates, not only Mr. Obama but also Ron Paul, were getting more support from the uniformed military than hawkish Mr. McCain. That remains the case. Mr. Obama received $340,400 from members of the uniformed service branches compared to $321,500 for Mr. McCain. Mr. Paul had taken in $213,000 from uniformed service members.
The report also shows that Mr. Obama also is ahead of Mr. McCain in military donors with overseas addresses, both those working for the Department of Defense as well as members of the uniformed services. A total of $74,650 came in for Mr. Obama from those posted overseas to $16,600 for Mr. McCain.

Kerry still bitter , still longing. That was a crack against a fellow senator that he openly said he’d consider as a running mate, and a man who refused to take part in criticism against Kerry when many other vets did. Class act, Kerry. Wonder if Powell hears this crap, or tunes it out. My guess it doesn’t mater to Colin. It IS about color, despite what that liar chicken hawk said. He is responsible in part for all of the blood spilled in Iraq; he rushed in, then ran out leaving everyone holding the bag, and pointing a finger at everyone else(look what they made me do). Powell a no-class act, a chicken, and a liar. In good company with Kerry. And probably with Obama, given his deceit and lies about public campaign financing. I guess Chickenhawk Powell over looked the multitude of comments like the oneKerry made. Powell loser, Kerry loser, Obama loser. And I am not talking about any elections. Biden -decent, but too stupid to matter.

Enough with the PTSD stuff Ryan. Most of the guys I know who have claimed it were rear echelon types looking for a handout, not all but most. The problem is it is not able to be disproven and can give a person of low morals a free meal ticket for life, but hey, who cares as long as they vote democratic. And yes, I did spend a year in combat as an infantryman.

These are the words of a charisma-less Massachusetts senator, not our Democratic Presidential candidate.

I was a memnber of the VFW the same year I left the service. So that isn’t true.
No we weren’t exorcising ghosts from Vietnam. We were righting a wrong. Thank god the countrty did support those troops.
In general most politicians haven’t wanted to deal with any veteran after his servioe had ended. The only one I hear that relly wants to now is McCain. The democrats cry to have us leave Iraq before the job is finished yet we have been in Germany for 60+ years and the same for Korea. Isn’t it time to leave those countries?? When Vietnam became a political promise of Nixon we left and 55000 serving their country died in vain.

There is no problem if you need help and actually have the condition. But when you don’t and want help and money for a so called disability that you don’t have that is a problem. Most veterans like myself who use the veterans healthcare or help are senior citizens. We deal with whatever the issues are until age does us in.

I remember the day I came home through the LA Airport and was spit on by these drugged up fruitcakes. If it hadn’t been for the security force, there would have been some major butt whooping. When I finally got checked in and sat down in the break room and saw Kerry on television and heard him talking about me, I thought to myself, “What The”! Then to find out he was nominated to run for president. Only in America. Now here we go again with this guy Obama. Are Americans that hard up that we can’t get one decent candidate? There are 300 million people here for crying out loud. The reason Kerry sleeps well at night is because he is worth 100 million bucks. Typical Liberal, he can relate with the poor.

Kerry is a loser. He needs to be voted out of the Senate. He not only disrespected McCain, but all senior citizens.

Posted by: bpower | October 20, 2008, 10:38 pm 10:38 pm

Kerry has no class. Also, a man with prostrate problems is more likely to wear DEPENDS. And, what does that have to do with being President?????????????

Posted by: drno | October 20, 2008, 10:41 pm 10:41 pm

Seems everyone can make a joke on these blogs and call McCain nasty old man etc, but let Kerry make a joke and everyone gets spastic, lighten up, it was a old person joke!!!

Posted by: Jules | October 20, 2008, 10:43 pm 10:43 pm

Typical lack of class, of the socialist democrat party.

KR asked:
“Is Obama going to condemn Kerry for his remarks.”
Fraid not, he would have to understand kerry’s remarks before he could condemn them.

Actually Kerry was elected in 2004, unless you consider a stolen election to be legitimate.
Sad to hear the tired old lies about the mythical hippies spiting on all the returning veterans.
Thanks to war hero John Kerry, Vietnam was finally over by 1973, at least for the US.

A Veteran said:
I was a memnber of the VFW the same year I left the service. So that isn’t true.
Just a note: I and 3 of my fellow Vietnam Veterans tried to join the VFW in Andalusia Al in 1974. We were refused membership. We were told that since most of the members of that post were WWII vets, that we would not fit in. I have been asked many times since then to join, but I just didn’t feel like I would “fit in”.

Gee, thanks Ed for the great analysis of the 2004 election. No, I don’t think we were aware that Sen. Kerry was “actually” elected! Guess we haven’t studied the news quite as well as you to know the about all the stealing and illegitimacy.
Wake up and grow up.

Gee Ed, when did you get back from Nam? I got back in 1972. I was “lucky” enough to come back through San Francisco International Airport. Your so called “mythical hippies” were right there, and it was not a welcome home parade.

You used essentially the same joke as a post title eight days ago. It’s not worth blogging about once, let alone twice. Talk about reducing things to the lowest common denominator.

===8 YEAR LATER AND KERRY IS STILL A LOSER ===

Posted by: N O Waff | October 20, 2008, 11:57 pm 11:57 pm

What if i made a joke saying well barrack doesn’t want to lease all that land to the oil companies because he just wants to play basketball on it. Or how about this: i love eating vegetables but barrack for some reason will only eat bananas for some reason. Sounds racist doesn’t it? should it sound racist? when people make low blows like this it just makes them look foolish. Leave Kerry and his pitiful out of this he is a no name now.

Posted by: Andrew | October 20, 2008, 11:59 pm 11:59 pm

You can’t blame Kerry. So much has been made of George Bush not being the sharpest knife in the drawer, but the fact of the matter is that George Bush graduated ahead of John Kerry from their joint alma mater, Yale.
If that wasn’t enough, John has had to suffer through years of being cuckolded by his wife and benefactor, Theresa Heinz. He was a winner in getting to keep his family name and she’ll even use it every election cycle without too much pleading.

Posted by: Duude | October 21, 2008, 12:33 am 12:33 am

Andrew,
Yeah even the slightest reference to Obama’s background or his inexperience is racist.
While Obama supporters like Kerry can throw vicious insults on McCain and make fun of seniors etc.
Funny the media never seems to get it.

Now I remember why this guy lost. What a dimwitted jerk. He should apologize.
(An Obama supporter)

It must be Kerry’s time of the month. I though women his age were thru all that. I guess it ‘depends’.

Posted by: Sam Deakins | October 21, 2008, 4:35 am 4:35 am

That is why Kerry is a loser and always will be.

NO WONDER MCCAIN MAKES SOME OF THOSE SCARY FACES—wow depends.

Posted by: rodney | October 21, 2008, 8:02 am 8:02 am

More proof as to why the Munster Lurch-looking Senator Kerry lost the election in 2004. I’m sure elderly, sick or other people who medically need Depends find such a “joke” reprehensible as do those who love these people. Incontinence isn’t funny – especially to those who must endure it.
John Kerry is an elitest moron who blew a Presidential election that was his to easily win.
There is no mental image more hilarious than J. Kerry skulking about wearing a camo outfit and pretending to be a hunter – now there’s a REAL belly laugh!!

Posted by: ApplePie | October 21, 2008, 8:57 am 8:57 am

The slights of vets in 72 are not myths.
I went to an interview and when I answered “No” to the question “Did you smoke marijuana?” (Alcohol was my vice), the interviewer came back with ” Oh come on, I know EVERYBODY in VietNam smoked marijuana” SO please don’t tell me there wasn’t ignorance about the soldiers.

Posted by: Packrat | October 21, 2008, 9:17 am 9:17 am

Kerry is a pathetic fool….And to think that this piece of trash had the nerve to even run for President. The majority of these lying , crimminal politicians need to face the wrath of the Citizens of this country!…We want REAL CHANGE!, and that means throwing these crooks out of office, and putting them on trial for their crimes against the American Ctitizens!.

Posted by: Antonio | October 21, 2008, 9:18 am 9:18 am

His remarks are nothing. This world and
the USA’s reputation is in the TOILET -
and all you people talk about is a depends remark. GTFP people!

Posted by: Butch Dye | October 21, 2008, 11:04 am 11:04 am

Poor Senator Kerry. Ever since it came out about his wife Theresa “Hamass” Heinz Kerry’s support for the terrorists who put bomb belts on their own children, his credible ratings have sunk to well below garbage levels.
I think they just allow him to be senator because they feel sorry for a guy who’s own face resembles Frankenstein’s Monster – and that’s a compliment.

Posted by: Hinda | October 21, 2008, 12:24 pm 12:24 pm

When Theresa and John Kerry find they need Depends because they have no control over their bodily actions, I wonder if they will be laughing?
It is one thing to joke about children in diapers–it’s another to joke about senior citizens.

Posted by: Marty Angell | October 21, 2008, 1:16 pm 1:16 pm

Had Jay Leno told this it would have been funny…tasteless, but funny. John Kerry is the most unfunny person in the world so he can’t pull it off.
Boxers or briefs? (It) depends…..
The key is not to SAY “Depends” as in adult diapers….but to say “…depends” as in “sometimes I wear boxers, sometimes briefs” and then let the listener HEAR “Depends” as in adult diapers.
Kerry probably didn’t mean it as an insult, he just couldn’t tell a decent joke if his life “depends” on it. But, boy I’ll bet this story gives Faux news, “Crying Sean” Hannity, red faced Limbaugh and the other righties some serious knots in their own panties!

Kerry is almost as old as Senator John McCain, and Biden is older. The Botox job on Biden was bad. He looks weird. Kerry is just a big mouth that served in Vietnam and make himself out a hero, when , in fact, he was and is a zero.
Murtha appears to be senile. I guess all democrats get mean-spirited and hateful when they get a little age on them.
Senator McCain walks with a spring in his step, which I can’t say for Murtha, Kerry and Biden. They act like old men,
And look it.

Posted by: Lu | October 21, 2008, 3:48 pm 3:48 pm

Wasn’t McCain the guy Kerry begged to be his VP in 2004? And who refused it?

Posted by: Not Your sweetie | October 21, 2008, 5:22 pm 5:22 pm

Funny what it’s okay to poke fun at and what it isn’t. Old people are still fair game, apparently. It’s amazing that these people keep getting elected to the great Washington Welfare Program, i.e., Congress. If they had to do an honest day’s work, they’d starve. No wonder they are all so in the pocket for government spending. That’s how the fools keep their jobs. Vote ‘em all out and start over. God, they make me SICK.

Posted by: Deborah | October 21, 2008, 7:13 pm 7:13 pm

This is just repulsive. I think John Kerry needs to stay home and keep quiet. Is this really the man Obama wants to be a cabinet Secretary?? Oh my God!

Posted by: Belleburgh | October 21, 2008, 8:04 pm 8:04 pm

John Kerry reminds me of the Addams Family butler, Lurch, except for the personality. Lurch actually had one.

Posted by: Adam | October 21, 2008, 9:39 pm 9:39 pm

“I normally don’t get into name-calling, but since McCain’s calling Obama a socialist, I think it’s only fair for Kerry to say that McCain wears depends……. Posted by: Brigette_J | Oct 20, 2008 5:03:58 PM” … seriously, what’s wrong w/being a socialist? There are tons of people who are proud to say that they’re a socialist, Ayers being one of them. If you talk like one, act like one… have chains of friends who are one… there is nothing wrong in it. Obama doesn’t hide the fact that he believes in redistributing the wealth. Again, it’s just a difference in beliefs in where one wants america to be. If Obama believes in socialist values, there’s no shame in hiding it.
I don’t agree with him… but that’s not name calling. Unless of course, you think being a socialist is a bad thing…

Obama claims that Palin is trying to distract the American people from the real issues when she questions his association with William Ayers. To be the Prez you must be able to focus on more than 1 thing and I believe the American people can do that Mr obama

Posted by: poysunivy | October 22, 2008, 4:18 pm 4:18 pm

Have you been reading about what happens to you liberal nutcases after Obama is “elected?” Slolen or bought is more like it. The media is fast becoming history. You might not have a job. We are not going to buy your product. O’ happy days.

Posted by: poysunivy | October 22, 2008, 4:23 pm 4:23 pm

You would be surprised by how many people wear adult diapers, and it’s not funny to them either. I see teens all the way to seniors ordering them online every day.

I don’t know what to say but the thought of a laughter wouldn’t hurt at all. Furthermore, laughter is the best medicine. Politics is a dirty game.

Posted by: limo hire london | May 11, 2009, 7:23 am 7:23 am

Why is it that there are so many jokes about adult incontinence? It really isn’t funny if you are the one dealing with it. Just wish people would think Tranquility instead of Depends they are a far superior product than Depends!!!
