Obama Confused by McCain Ad

DES MOINES, IOWA — Speaking in the state that launched his presidential career, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., told Iowans today that he was confused by the new TV ad of his opponent, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., that features Obama praising a global warming bill introduced by McCain and Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn.

"As if there’s something wrong with acknowledging when an opponent has said or done something that makes sense," Obama said. "I think we need more of that attitude in Washington…We need more civility in Washington."

Obama noted that, "I don’t disagree with John McCain on everything," and then pivoted to where he does.

"When it comes to the economy, when it comes to the central issue of this election, the plain truth is John McCain has stood with President Bush every step of the way," Obama said.

Another good headline!
That’s three in a row!
(But at least you get it right in the actual story).

When it comes to the economy, when it comes to the central issue of this election, the plain truth is John McCain has stood with President Bush every step of the way,” Obama said.

Mr. 0bama will use Class Struggle to correct it:
The ideal of sharing wealth, equalizing class divide has been so powerful, sweeping half a Europe and Asia and South America in the first half of the 20th Century.
The ideals of Marxism are not necessarily wrong; in fact, they are extremely appealing, and the history of the 20th century is a proof.
Yet, none of the practitioners have achieved their noble causes, each has left millions dead, in smaller places like Vietnam and Cambodia, and 10s of millions in larger states. The only major survivor of this practice is China, who has adopted Capitalism by all means except some certain rights that we enjoy here as granted – which is a different topic.
Socialism, a precursor of Communism, has never had a chance being practiced in the US. Few really know what socialism is, but what 0bama wants to do IS socialism.
0bama is masterfully adopting the classic class divide of Karl Marx, playing one class – the 95% of the poor – against another class – the rich, the 5% to achieve his ambition.
It is not progressive taxation that makes 0bama a socialist.
It is the class struggle that makes 0bama a Socialist, stupid!

Concerned in Ohio…and others who make snide remarks like that…is that going to solve anything? Can’t you even acknowledge the diplomacy being offered by Obama? You’ve got to be real closed minded to not even take note of the difference between someone like Obama who is reaching out to others – throughout the nation and the world, vs. those like McCain and Bush who divide. This is a basic concept we learned when doing group projects in middle school.

The McCain ad just reinforces concern over his lack of judgment, he calls for bipartisanship but criticizes when someone crosses the aisle. Erratic John, erratic.

Vote ~ Obama and Biden Ticket~~~~
This is not going to be a recession. This is going to be worse than the Great Depression. ~~~
You history buffs out there know the Great Depression was causes by Republican Majorities in the 1920s that lead up to the 1929 Stock Market crash! The 1930s were the years of the Great Depression and it took a Socialist, FDR to get America back on track. It took him almost 10 years to do it. ~~~~~~~
McCain becomes President, and 99% of Americans will suffer under a Great Depression that will go on for many years. ~~~~~~~
Obama becomes President, and 99% of Americans will suffer hard times for two or three years before he can get things turned around. It will take Obama two terms to get this mess straightened out. He will have to spend his first days as President reversing all the Bush/McCain programs and policies in all areas, and then he can spend years cleaning up the mess and years more making repairs. ~~~~~~~
It always takes a Democrat that leans to the left to get America to the center! Eight years of a right wing low IQ Religious fanatic caused this mess. ~~~~~~
This is not the time for some senile old man with a right wing nutcase VP to step in with 20th century solutions to 21st century problems. This is the time for a high IQ 21st century thinking person to take charge, and that would be Obama. ~~~~~~
Obama will be much like FDR! He will save America if elected. ~~~

d)
you should do a little more reading
Reagan implemented the earned income tax credit
Teddy Roosevelt divised our “arching” tax system…
it is only deregulators like McCain and his ENTIRE economic team that screwed that up… changing the balance toward the rich.
so get a clue… the tax burden has been swayed away from Roosevelt and Reagan’s ideology…taking it way too far to the right…
which doesn’t work in a democratic capitalist nation…
do you not understand that a democratic capitalist society is successful only when there are rules and it is touched by “grace”?
idiots got us the last 8 years
and those same idiots are trying to argue for McCain Palin.

I am confused as well as this is only helping OBAMA. It shows TRUE LEADERSHIP(unlike McCain)
You see Mr.McCain he can give credit even to you which I might add he has done on more occasions than yourself. He gives credit when credit is due. He is willing to listen unlike you. Mr. Mc Cain you have turned into a smuck, angry person who will have to go home from this election and try and regain your respect. I remember when you first started this campain you made a pledge NO MUDSLINGING. You are just going to give us the facts. Well the facts are you are losing because of your poor choice in VP and you don’t have anything further to add to a sinking ship but this. I applaud your sacrifice to this country but I will vote for someone who has a vision of peace and togetherness.Who will work outside of the REPUBLICAN BOX. Someone who is willing to listen. When OBAMA spoke to “joe the fake plumber” and answered his questions I for one applaud Mr.Obama. He answered his questions not beat us with the same ol crap. I find you using “Joe” as pathetic. Have you noticed that not many people are listening to “Joe” as he has lied to the American (not pro, semi or otherwise but American) people. I for one am sick of “joe the non-plumber)

I’m always amused when people say things like “Obama is reaching out across the divide” or the like. NEWSFLASH!! Obama simply hasn’t ever done that, and has never shown any interest ( beyond canned campaign rhetoric ) of doing that. He is one of, if not the, most partisan politician in Washington. He will not, and can not, unite this country… he is simply to far from the political middle to make that happen.
I’m also amused by the “we need somebody with high IQ” bits. While I’m sure there must be some area that Obama is competent at, it’s certainly not history. His economic and foreign policies have already been tried in the past, and they’ve been utter failures each time. “Wealth redistribution” only results in everybody being poor. Hammering business at every turn only results in more jobs lost. Appeasing psychopaths only encourages them to go after more. Are history classes no longer required for law students?

Oh the stink of desperation on the Palin/McCain lovers in this place is rank now. It’s only a few more days and you can go back to your AM radio listening, federal building bomb loving homes. The president does not run the country,it is basically a public relations position and you don’t need to be smart, just be someone who thinks they are so cool..thus Obama!!! There is a difference between being smart and being educated..you can be educated and brilliant but clueless how the real people live, that is not smart!!! Obama will change nothing, he has made too many promises, if senate get their magic 60, non veto congress than their agenda trumps every promise ever made. Put your listening ears on and take off your adoration eyes for when he becomes president and lets see if we can be honest and free thinking once he starts to try to fulfill his wishes without leaving this country in a “no better or worse condition”. If you hang all of your hopes on one person for your salvation you are bound to be very disappointed. Get real people they are POLITICIANS and their “agenda” will always trump what is good for America!!!!

Again, the whining of the conservative base is getting loud here. Did anyone really read that post by msa123? I didn’t think so. Face it, all you plumbers and ‘Joes’, your man doesn’t stand a chance to win. Obama in a landslide. This election is a backlash to the ridiculous conservative movement that has killed itself by being on the wrong side of the issues. The conservative movement can only try to instill fear and hate on a person because logic and reasoning won’t work. The conservative base will contract as these groups dominate the party for the foreseeable future. I, for one, will be happy to go toe to toe with these people. My vote is as valuable as theirs, so from now on, unlike the past, I will vote every time I can to prevent the small-minded right wingers to dominate politics like they have for the past 40 years. Goldwater was right. The republicans have become locked with the religious right. And they won’t be able to break away from the religious right because soon that will be its only base.

I was a Barack Obama supporter, but I’m confused by Barack Obama’s ad(dress) about the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Is he playing us for idiots? he wants us to believe that he went to Rev. Wright’s church twice a month for 20 years and didn’t know he was a rowdy hate-monger? the rest of his congregation knew; didn’t he see their possessed rabbidness? The rest of the country, who knew him for 15 minutes up to that point, had the wherwithal to throw him under the bus two months before Sen. Obama finally threw him under the bus. Was this a sale? Did he think that talking in front of 57 flags about his racist white grandmother would convince us that the Rev. Wright wasn’t so bad a guy? how did we know and he didn’t? or maybe Barack Obama is just an idiot, and he’s slower than the rest of us. “God bless America? no no no, God d*mn America, it’s in the Bible, God d*mn America!” just didn’t do it for him. He is so fond of the Rev. Wright and so dismissive of Ronald Reagan, I’m concerned that he will leave the “verify” part out of “trust but verify” when he has his unconditional chat with Iran.

I still want to know why Obama thinks “rich” people are “selfish”. I certainly do not consider myself “rich” even though I will taxed heavily under Obama’s new tax plan. I already pay a lot of taxes. I give to my church, charities, and I help familes at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I do what I can because I can. If Obama chooses to tax me even more, then there are certain things I will have to cut out. I worked hard, took out student loans (which I’m still paying) and earned every penny I make. Every one can go to college. I didn’t have parents that could afford to send me. I worked several jobs and put myself through college and now Obama wants to call me selfish and punish me for that. It’s not fair. It’s not fair to put someone who makes 250,000 in the same tax bracket as someone who makes a million or 25 million or 250 million. It’s not the same. And what about the cost of living? It’s different throughout the country.

You dolts wouldn’t know socialism if someone hit you over the head with a state owned factory.
Now, all of the sudden, tax cuts are ‘socialist’ because a Democrat is proposing them and the GOP can’t use its tired old rhetoric of “tax and spend” since McCain tax ploices are worse for the middle class.
Conservatism failed. You are the minority now. Get used to it. we had to put up with 8 years of failure. Give the other ideology a chance.

Alternatively, it could be that your 5-minute acquiantance with Rev. Wright is NOT as accurate as Obama’s 20 years. It COULD be that you know almost nothing about Rev. Wright, or Obama’s grandmother (or Obama himself, for that matter). You want to dismiss a person’s entire life and worth because of something they said once that you interpreted as bad. You have that right, but don’t expect the rest of us to follow.

Obama is a superior Statesman and will make an excellent President. This shows that he is willing to work across the aisle, listen to what others have to say, and give credit where it is due. Unlike McCain, who thinks that only his ideas are good (whether they are or not)and prefers negativity over addressing the issues. He is too angry and erratic to be President.

no wonder Barack Obama says that Sen. McCain’s ads are 100% negative. Even when Sen. McCain quotes Sen. Obama praising him for working across the aisle on a hot-button issue like global warming, Sen. Obama assumes it’s attacking him. Sen. Obama, you’re confused about how this McCain campaign ad is attacking you? IT ISN’T! it’s a positive ad that talks about how McCain is the Maverick of the Senate, a track record of independence and bipartisanship. You, Sen. Obama, have nothing to do with this ad. Palin really is a female version of George Bush
* the country accent in the talkin’
* the folksy image
* the difficulty stringing together a complete sentence if its not scripted
* the washington outsider image
* the shallow breadth of world knowledge
* the winks
* the ‘you betcha’ approach
* ambitious
* inarticulate
* calculating and vindictive (troopergate)
* born again type
* she is probably more dangerous that Bush
Republicans couldn’t get away with another George Bush male candidate, but they figured they could fool the public with a female George Bush.

Not all republicans voted for everything gwb wanted. and you can’t blame the republicans for your own bad actions, buying a home you couldn’t afford, living on credit and on and on and on. This presidential campaign has brought out the worst and best in our country. It’s made us face racism, sexism and ageism and have to see that it still exists even in a nation as great as ours. If we are the leaders of the world then we need to move forward in unity. I just hope all the mud slinging from the citizens of this country will lean towards and turn into respect for all people and not just those who agree with everything one side or the other says. One politician Democrat or Republican can not save our country, we all need to look without our own life and recognize that each of us is responsible for the destiny of America. Placing blame outside ourselves is the main reason we continue to suffer and cause others to suffer. A grass roots Positive movement of the people will change our nation. Greed, anger and stupidity has brought us to ruin. How much more can we stand before we fall.

Obama stays confused the way he flip flops on the issues. One day the tax cut is for those making less than 250K, then he has an infomerical stating is is 200K, then Biden says its 150K.
He said over and and over in all 3 debates he “agree’s” with McCain. Can he take a stand on his own, make his own decisions?
Voting “present” isn’t a decision. Does he have to run home and make phone calls to get others opinions? Clinton said he did in Florida regarding the bailout money he voted for. I don’t think he will have that kind of time for the 3:00am phone call.
If it isn’t fed into a teleprompter for him he is clueless.

Some person says morally he fears for America. I really take that one personally. I have sat for eight years watching the moral left tell me I was inferior and somehow stupid because I did not garee with the turn my country was taking. I did not like starting a war I did not like poor kids from poor family fighting this war I saw them pushing into terrible sitsuations just because they joined the Nat’l Guard to have a better chance at an education, Bush and Copmany used them and has just about used up the men and women still at war for him. Now you say you worry about Americas moral because a good man like Mr Obama might win. No one who voted with the right wing Christian Front can possible say one word about Rev Wright. As far as I know no one has died because Rev Wright blowfates every sunday. Tell me how you can not see how stupid these statements are.

I am a filthy rich person myself, and if you raise any of my taxes even moderately, well, I just won’t cope with it anymore. I am going to stop working. I mean it. Don’t expect me to do anything at all. I am going to close my businesses, cancel the orders for my new yaught, and just get totally lazy and die poorer. It just won’t be worth it anymore to try to make money. So there! Now I’ll tell you what you ought to do. You people who are working hard to get health care for yourselves, a roof over your head, and education for your kids — don’t expect any tax breaks. Shoulder your full share, I say. There you have it from Ebeneezer Onassis.

McCain has no plans for this economy except to continue the SAME worn out Republican ideas.Trickle down economics.We are under that type of government now and how is that working for you?This “Senator Government” mess is just as tired and ugly as that all white republican convention and old boy network where it came from.Wearing flag decorated clothes and listening to country music doesn’t make you an American.Being born here and many other factors make us Americans.BARACK OBAMA is the leader of the real America that is inclusive of many who have been shunned by a self righteous system that keeps the rich in their statis and the poor ever struggling for basic needs.Obama is fundamental change and McCain and Palin are the worst America has to offer.McCain and Palin are closet racists that love to incite other racists!Obama and Biden are the heartbeat and face of the real, current and future America.McCain and Palin are a sad reminder of the ignorance of our past that needs to be overcome.

This is a striking example of a candidate, Barack Obama, who combines thoughtful decision-making with political astuteness. Based on an enormous body of evidence, he was right, as were Senators McCain and Lieberman, to support the global warming bill proposed by the latter two. The astuteness comes from seizing the opportunity to turn his agreement with them into a political advantage.
Given the economic burden we’ll face, t’s not clear that either a President Obama or President McCain would be able to act vigorously in 2009 to combat global warming, but it’s reassuring they both see it as a priority. Obama has also framed it as an important jobs creation opportunity, which may be helpful in getting the process started.

“When it comes to the economy, when it comes to the central issue of this election, the plain truth is John McCain has stood with President Bush every step of the way,” Obama said.
Barack Obama’s analytical skills are flawed. Nevermind his judgement, he was wrong when he said the Rev. Jeremiah Wright was a good guy and that he is just misunderstood. He had to take that back and throw him under the bus when he finally figured out what the rest of us already knew despite knowing him for only 5-minutes because we actually have some common sense as opposed to his just Ivy League instincts. He is wrong because to this day he maintains that knowing what we know today… knowing what we know today! he would still have opposed the surge. Sunni “awakening councils” are killing Al-Quaeda terrorists that claim to be Sunni Muslims, and the Shiite government is killing Iranian backed Sadrist militias that claim to be Shia Muslims. This is the war on terror; Barack Obama doesn’t get it. There is no Shia and there is no Sunni, there is only the forces of good, freedom and demcrocy vs. the forces of evil, terror, and tyrrany. Barack Obama was wrong when he wrote off our small-town American everyday values of the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution, which he calls a “flawed document” because it is a restrictive, and not an activist, convenant, he calls our faith and values “clinging to their guns and religion,” he equates it to bigotry, and thinks we harbor these values because we are bitter, and it’s “as a way to explain their frustrations.”

That’ll put the wealthy right back at the rate they had to pay under that socialist Bill Clinton. Remember when the poverty level was reduced and those silly middle class people saw their incomes increase?

For one, he doesn’t speak for Obama; 2nd, we must and should admit that the US hasn’t always been fair to others and we must reap what we sow and Rev.Wright was just bold enough to say it; 3rd, if you do your homework, Rev. Wright’s military record surpasses that of McCain’s and at least he didn’t abandon his wife after returning from the war for more riches and personal gain; 4th, the Clinton’s pastor was accused of child molestation! But, Obama didn’t bring this issues to light because he’s bigger than that and unlike his opponents, he’s sticking to issues, not personal attacks!! It is very clear now that Obama, the great kid will win the jackpot on coming Tuesday and the old man, whose hands are tight, mind is tight, heart is tight and legs are tight will lose the election with at least 15% points. McCain will lose the election in many republican States and may be able to get less than 130 delegates. Sharah Palin is the biggest drag on his campaign, it shows that he is too old to take right decision. After the election McCain will retire in Arizona desert and enjoy her wife’s million of dollars, Palin will back to Wasila, she will be removed from her Governorship and apply for welfare and food stamps untill she find wolf, moose or polar bear to hunt.

Yagle Did you know that that man of fairness and integrity you speak of has proposed a sweetheart of a tax proposal for wealthy seniors making $50,000. a year which if their income comes from dividends this means they have a multimillion stock portfolio and he proposes they won’t even have to file taxes. Senior age I believe starts at 62. Now what do you think of your man of integrity. What do you think he proposes this tax plan for? To get the wealthy seniors vote and apparently it is working in Florida where many have settled to retire and they are smiling all the way to the polls. Now I am for the seniors but not for them to never have to pay a tax on their stock dividends of portfoilios worth millions.And as Obama states this will eliminate 27 million seniors from even filing taxes. Brilliant who is going to make up for the loss of this needed tax base? The poor, no the Middle class families. So please spare us with your honorable Barack who is only out there buying votes.

“wealthy seniors making $50,000. a year which if their income comes from dividends this means they have a multimillion stock portfolio and he proposes they won’t even have to file taxes.”
A senior making $50K a year is by no means wealthy even if doing so based on investments.
I think seniors will like that Obama recognizes their hard work and sacrifice for this nation.
They won’t like McCain cutting Medicare to the bone.

Obama plans to eliminate income tax for seniors making less than $50K.
McCain plans to find a trillion dollars in waste and fraud in Medicare. When Republicans say that what they really intend to cut are benefits.
But maybe you can tell me more of McCain’s plans for seniors since his website did not have any clear info on it.

Posted by: Ryan C | October 31, 2008, 6:07 pm 6:07 pm

Ryan c McCain has not proposed a tax plan for seniors like this .He has actually honestly stated he thinks their are plenty of wealthy like him who can afford to pay a little more out of pocket. Unlike Obamas false chantings of being the candidate for middle class. McCain is actually the one who does get it that the middle class are always left carrying the burden

So he thinks seniors all have wives that are heiresses? He’s loonier than I thought. Are you really stating that McCain thinks senior should be paying MORE?
“Unlike Obamas false chantings of being the candidate for middle class.”
Most of Obama’s programs are directed at the middle class but they are by no means the only group that Obama thinks needs attention first.
“McCain is actually the one who does get it that the middle class are always left carrying the burden”
So he makes the largest tax cuts for millionaires. Interesting logic.

Ryan C A senior with a stock porfolio containing 10,000 shares of Chevron with a dividend of .65 gives them an Income of 26,000 a year. Then throw in 5,000 shares of First Energy with. 56 dividend gives them income of 11,200. And lets throw in 3,000 Enterprise products at .60 cents a dividend and there is $7,200. a year. Total income $44,400. haven’t even hit $50,000.yet. Now lets add up thise stocks at todays value approx. $1,135,000.00. And Obama doesn’t want to tax them. Ok, tell me again how he is for the middle class and not the wealthy. And before you start claiming this isn’t wealthy you may be right, but lets not forget these seniors homes are probably paid for, kids are grown and they don’t have to many expenses life looks pretty good. Especially if you are one of those 62 year old seniors who doesn’t live beyond your means and just wants to play some golf sit back and enjoy. Guess what I say good for them but don’t try and tell me Obama didn’t buy the senior vote. Oh did I mention they all moved to Florida because there is no state income tax?

“Obama Confused by McCain Ad” — Jake Tapper.
————-
Everyone should be.
Heck, I was confused when John McCain came out and said, “THE FUNDAMENTALS OF OUR ECONOMY ARE STRONG!” and then the investment companies went bankrupt the following day!

The Joe Plumber was just a ploy to try trap Obama on public camera. That Joe “liar” is what he is. I mean, look at him eating this “sh..” up. He will not be remembered as a celeberty, but more as a liar.
How can anyone in this day and age with the condition the US is in today not want change? ALSO, how can any true American in his/her right mind want another REP-President or REP-Congress in the White House? We have been SOLD out by these people. This country has been through alot of misshapps and she is now losing much integrity within her own boundaries…”sad”. WAKE UP, WE HAVE NEVER HAD A REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT IN OFFICE AND DIDN’T GO INTO RECESSION. THINK PEOPLE!!!!!! We are in a mess NOW, if a REP win office, we will go into “Depression” for sure. Think about this, how many American families are actually making more than $250,000/year? Even more sad is the fact that we have not even felt the true impact of what this REP administration has done to the American people…”US”.

LFL: This is still America and we still have a right to believe and vote our choice, whether you agree or not, that is what makes america strong, not Obama nor mccain or any other politician or lawyer ormedia person. While we still have freedom of speech, press and the right to vote we will do so. I refuse to be anyones stooge and refuse to let any yellow journalism or politician or anyone control my mind. Our differences are what make us strong, not people being spoon fed. So get over it. Not all of us will be happy but we will know that we made the right choice through our own free will. If that isn’t good enough for you than so be it, but, just quit insulting us. Gees people, think for yourself and remember that no one person, or congress can please everyone and they won’t even be able to please you all of the time and you are going to vote for him!!!! Joe the plumber has a right to ask any question, any time anywhere. Do you want that right to be taken away from you? Didn’t think so!!!!

I have recently migrated to the USA. What I have seen in this election campaign is petty and childish behavior by senior politicians who behave like hawks. Lipstick on pig, pitbull, hockey mom, sixpack joe, barracuda, JOE- the plumber ( one who is not really a plumber) and nothing of intelligence for the development of America. Has John Public lost his IQ ? IS THIS WHAT THE POLITICIANS THINK?? Politicians treat you according to how they access your intelligence.I want policies and strategies for making the country better. Yet sections of the American population revel in this nonsense. You who are poor, listening to the millionaire politician telling you that the sharing of wealth is evil and socialist, needs your head to be examined.Are you crazy or like to be treated as stupid? Since when is the paying of tax a crime and not a civic responsibility for the betterment of society.Since when the rich should not pay taxes but the poor only? Since when providing for the less fortunate a crime and not Bible teachings. Is this a christian country? Use your better judgement Tuesday.

Sorry if this was already covered in an above post, but this goes to the post about John Mcain finishing almost last and not living up to his father and grandfathers stature. This was a man who was aPOW for years. Endured years of torture for our country, you said he was shot down three times. How much courage does that take to keep getting back in that plane and carrying on the fight. You are obviously not somebody that has ever served in the military, or done anyhting for his country. you tout obama who has said nothing but unflattering things about this country as a better hero. Put politics aside and stop saying blatantly ludicrous things. If these are your real views and values America is in real trouble.

You people that are finding fault in Barack Obama are making up and slandering Obama like one does when someone with an intelligent mind and ideas makes an entrance…you tend not to lean to that individual but instead go another direction thinking that if you defame their character you’ll be safe and they’ll be ruined but most times that illogic backfires!

Obama is the probably the worst candidate to ever run for the Presidency.
His ‘redestribute the wealth’ has already been tried and failed in many European countries and Obama wants the same for the USA? What a joke.

For those paying attention the last 8 years should have taught us a couple of things: 1) Anyone can become President 2) It hurts the country when both executive and legislative branches are under the control of the same group of jerkoffs. If you value true diversity and want to restrain the ideological excess, patronage, and corruption inherent in any political party, then you want divided government. In this election that means voting McCain–even if you disagree with his policies and find him a less-than-magnetic personality. Those touting Obama as a savior of the nation need to study the history of the “Great Men” of the past who were rushed in to power on a wave of the dreams of the downtrodden and the alienated. Hint: It usually doesn’t work out as their supporters had intended.

Obama “When it comes to the economy, when it comes to the central issue of this election, the plain truth is John McCain has stood with President Bush every step of the way,” And the change I’ll make is I’ll stand with Marx.

“Obama Confused by McCain Ad”
This is a misleading, even “confusing” headline. It should say, “Obama Says He is Confused by McCain Ad.” Is Obama *really* confused by the ad? Of course not.

I agree. On the Joe the Plumber issue, the Columbus Dispatch has a new article: “State employee says she was ordered to check out Joe the Plumber.” The employee was told the reason for the check was that the man had inquired about his case.

Obama and Biden were taking a cheap shot at McCain for what he said. It was not untrue – the fundamentals are strong. If you look at our positives, and not just our negatives, you can see that. Here are two articles on it: “No, Really, the Fundamentals of the Economy Are Strong,” NY Times), and “The Economy Really Is Fundamentally Strong,” Time. I’ve heard it reported a number of times that the economy is forecasted to improve in late spring. I’d also be interested to see the media interview economists on whether they think McCain was right or wrong.
