Obama Jokes That McCain Supporters Should Vote on Nov. 5 (Election Day is Nov. 4)
FORT COLLINS, Colo. — "Before we get started," Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., said in this key battleground state, "let me just ask you -– how many people have early voted?"
Many in the crowd of 45,000 raised their hands.
"That’s what I like to see!" Obama said. "For those of you who did not raise your hand -– first of all, everybody who early voted, raise your hand again. OK, now, keep your hands up. Keep your hands up. All right now — if you have not early voted then talk to that person who’s raising their hand next to you and find out how to early vote. It’s easy, it’s fun. … You’ll feel morally superior having already cast your ballot while those lazy procrastinators are waiting until Nov. 4!”
Obama told the crowd to visit his Web site to find out where to vote early.
"There are all kinds of ways for you to figure out how to cast your ballot early, avoid those long lines. Now, I especially want you to vote early if you’re voting for me. If you’re voting for the other guy, you should just wait until Nov. 5. Ha, ha, ha. I’m just teasing, it’s actually Nov. 4 is the election."

That anchorwoman in Arkansas being killed was a tragic thing. In a Barak Obama world, she would not have the right to keep a handgun in her home for her protection. Obama voted against this in the Illinois legislature…not once, not twice…but FOUR times. He is LYING when he says that he is not going to take away your firearms. And with ultra-liberal San Fran Pelosi to help him, he’ll be able to do it.

If this election is similar to recent ones, there will be a large number of flyers distributed in inner city neighborhoods urging people to vote on November 5th. I’m glad Obama seems to be aware of this and is trying to preempt that sort of underhanded tactic.

Concerned in OH: McCain/Palin wouldn’t have joked about it. They would have turned it somehow into a message of FEAR – like the vast majority of their messages have been.
“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” The president who said that was one who put America back on track way back then. Creating jobs, working to better the AMerican people…
I think Obama was cut from the same cloth as him.
I was raised in OH, it’s why I moved to TX after graduation and that was over 30 years ago. When I left OH it was a place of little opportunity — very much like it is today. And it was Republican then too. In fact my whole family is Republican, though they are poor even in comparison Joe the wannabe-Plumber.
Concerned? Are you sure you ain’t my sister? Guess not or it might have been Clueless in OH.
She told me she voted for McCain. I asked her for one reason why? She couldn’t answer. I said, “You aren’t like Mom are you? She thinks a black man shouldn’t be president.” She still didn’t say anything but did manage a very nervous laugh.
I figure if Obama doesn’t win, it’s gotta be something racially-based. He’s the only candidate with a positive message that really hasn’t wavered throughout the campaign.
Even McCain and Palin have bought into his message of “Change” that’s why they keep changing their positions o the issue. I mean, how many times did McCain change the plan he touted at the second debate… Pretty much daily for about a week…
My last thought… WHo is Palin voting for? I heard she favors intelligent selection vs. evolution. Hey, do you think she’ll vote for Barrack? Can’t think of a better way to show support for “intelligent selection” than to pick a candidate with a brain.

B/c the usage of a handgun in Illinois is different from the usage of a handgun in Arkansas.

Obama and his team are wisely giving the Republican a taste of their own medicine in this election.
Republicans, of course, are up in arms that someone would suggest – as the republicans do every election in innner-city voter suppression mailings, that the election is Nov. 5.
Finally, a democratic president who is not afraid to fight.
Don’t like it? Shut up. It’s our turn.

Republicans who believe McCain will win this election could win a FORTUNE themselves!
Ladbrokes, a massive online sports book based in the United Kingdom, puts the odds of an Obama win at 1-10, meaning a bettor must risk $10 to win one more. John McCain, meanwhile, is an 11-2 shot, so a dollar posted on him would pay out an additional $5.50. The site now pays out less for a bet on Obama winning in a 370-plus electoral landslide than it does for a McCain victory of any margin.

Loving it in TX, so if Obama does win it’s because the people that vote for McCain are racist? Did I get that right? Well let me tell you why I am not voting for Obama: Obama voted against the Infant Protection Act, if you don’t know what it is, research it. Obama believes in abortions, I do not. Obama has pledged to slow our development of combat systems, those said combat systems keep my husband safe when he deploys. Historically speaking Democrats are bad for the military and Obama has given me a reason to believe he’s different. Democrats do not give the military pay raises beyond about $10-$20 a month called cost of living increases, don’t believe me, research it, yet Democrats give hand over fist to people on welfare, how far is that, please tell me. I love military transfers, I get to finally vote in a swing state, OHIO!!! GO MCCAIN/PALIN!!!!

I did early voting Friday. There were about 300 people waiting in line, and all of them were voting for McCain. I asked the clerks assisting with the voting machines, she said many, many people were Obama supporters that switched their minds to McCain because of Obama’s “spread the wealth” theory and shady politics. I believe McCain is right. McCain will BE the next President of the United States. And then today, the Obama campaign is rallying against the Florida news channel because the interviewer was asking Biden the hard questions. Floridians are mounting an all out attack against Obama and his lies.
John McCain, the next President of the United States!

AVERAGE: Obama 50, McCain 43 (Obama +7%).
Obama is still ahead by 7% nationally despite the fact that some media reports say this election is tightening.
And no matter whose polls you look at, it is clear that Obama is still ahead. Our poll of polls estimate has Obama nearing 400 electoral votes.
Karl Rove even has the electoral map turning out like this: Obama 306, McCain 171.

Obama was joking about it. The Republicans use it as an election day tactic.
When Mary Landrieu ran for her first term as Senator from Louisiana, minority neighborhoods were flooded with leaflets that said don’t worry if you can’t vote on Tuesday, you’ll be able to vote on Wednesday.
The GOP operative who did prison time for election fraud in New Hampshire has written a book called “How to Rig and Election.” He cites this as a common Republican tactic in minority neighborhoods.

When the top 1% has 1/3 of the wealth, and the top 5% has 90%, there needs to be some redistribution of wealth.
A $1 million a year salary is pretty damn good, so anything above that should be taxed at about 90% (I make 1/4 of that, and it’s pretty good, too.)
No one person should be able to own land that is more than the combined size of Rhode Island and Delaware. (Ted Turner owns at least 1,910,000 acres).

Because Sean Hannity is the ONE voice and the One Journalist who is RIGHT ON about who Obama really is and Obama knows that.

The Republicans are already redistributing the wealth. The only difference is that they are giving more to the CEO’s of the oil companies, pharmaceutical companies, etc. Barack Obama will simply give the breaks to the common, everyday working class hero, rather than give more to those who have too much already.
This really is not much different than Bush’s Incentive Checks. Put the money in the hands of the average american and they will spend it. They have to spend it because they don’t have enough money to allow them to save. Put it into the hands of a multi-millionaire and it won’t find its way back into our economy as they can spend anytime they want whether the economy is weak or strong.
This is not Socialism. It is simple decency. The rich are so worried that they might have to pay a little more. The middle class are worried that they may lose their house and all their savings.

“The only way Obama can lose this election is by rigging voting machines and suppressing votes as the pubs did in 2000 and 2004.”
ACTUALLY: That’s not impossible. The GOP has been engaged in voter supression for years.
There’s a SCARY HBO documentary called “Hacking Democracy” about the voting machines used in our elections.
The owner of the company (Diebold) that builds them is a huge contributor to the Republican party.
In the 2000 presidential election, an electronic voting machine recorded MINUS 16,022 votes for Al Gore in Volusia County, Fla. While fraud was never proven, the faulty tally the very real possibility of computer hacking during elections.
In Florida, Leon County supervisor of elections Ion Sancho presided over a trial “mini-election” to see if the vote could be hacked without being detected.
Before votes were actually cast, computer analyst Harri Hursti “stuffed the ballot box” by entering votes on the computer’s memory card. Then, after votes were cast, the results displayed when the same memory card was entered in the central tabulating program indicated that fraud was indeed possible.
In other words, by accessing a memory card before an election, someone could change the results – a claim Diebold had denied was possible.

As someone who was at the rally today, I would like to say that Barack Obama is going to be a great president. He evoked emotion– inspiration and humor– through out his whole speech. He was absolutely lovely. And in regards to saying that early voting would make one morally superior, you– Jeanie– have taken that completely out of context. He said it in good fun and not in a “slimy”, “cunning”, OR “self absorbed” way. As for someone that- I’m assuming-supports the McCain/Palin campaign (a campaign that has been living off of smear ads and terrorist scares the last few weeks) you have an alarmingly high moral high horse.

I came from Laramie Wyoming to volunteer at the rally in Ft. Collins-It was amazing and what a speech today. Obama was really talking from the soul today and the crowd was energized.
Go Obama/Biden

Obama better mind his tounge and hope for good weather, because those students he is counting on will blow off voting if its just a little too cold. Oh, well, he can try again in four years, right? What’s the dollar amount his campaign is costing, 500 million? Could have helped a lot of homeless with that kind of money, that is if he really cared.

Spreading the wealth is the basis of the US Tax code. Stop trying to make it socialism. I prefer Obama’s plan of giving tax breaks to working families over McCain’s plan to give to the CEO’s and hoping for the trickle down that has failed to materialize with the Bush tax cuts. The rich keep getting richer while everyone else is suffering. For those who are afraid of what the “socialists democrats” would do to the economy, look at history. It repeats itself. The economy almost always runs better under Democrats. Case it point, Clinton created a surplus while Bush created the largest deficit ever. If you are a Republican in favor of fiscal responsibility, your party ditched you a long time ago. Just food for thought.

Obama ahead +9% in Virginia 53-44, Public Policy Polling, A major shift in suburbia. When you hear about Virginia’s changing electorate, this is where it’s happening. Suburban voters in our poll reported supporting John Kerry just 48-44 in 2004. Now they’re going for Obama 58-38. Given that almost half of Virginians describe themselves as suburbanites, this shift explains Obama’s success in the state more than anything else.

Let’s see… who is BHO? Hmmmm… He’s a man with a plan to CHANGE America. But he is running as a ‘safe’ candidate. A lot of topics not mentioned during this campaign… I won’t mention them for the sake of offending anyone. Getting back to subject- CHANGE America… is CHANGE the way we govern? The way we tolerate FREE Speech? The way our children are schooled… (Topics covered in history etc)I wonder if the Constitution needs CHANGE? How about BHO instituting some Executive Orders to clean up some nasty Guns from the streets! How about BHO announcing a state of emergency (marshal law) to help organize this effort! Wow… CHANGE… isn’t it great!

i followed the actions of a poster on an earlier blog-and redistributed wealth from the obama supporter pizza delivery guy to the woman on the corner who was pan handling. i explained to the pizza delivery guy who was wearing an obama pin that i was ‘trying out’ obama’s redistribution of wealth concept- and would not be giving him a tip but would instead give his usual 5 bucks to the woman pan handler who had not earned it.
needless to say the pizza guy was not impressed but dorthy was delighted.

Well the polls may seem to be lessening for Senator Obama, but that has a lot to do with who is polling and how they are asking the questions. The fact is that Obama is winning in the battle ground states and he is winning all the blue states so it is very likely that Senator Obama will soon be President Obama. Many Hillary supporters and many republican voters are backing Obama because of McCain’s age and his choice of the incompetent shrew Sarah Palin. People actually do care for this country more than they care about the party bacause now it is critical that we all do so. We are in a bad fix with 2 wars, a corrupt administration with who knows what shocking facts that will come to light, and the financial crisis in America that is spreading throughout and affecting everyone. Republicans have been in power and have harmed the country. It is time for Democrats to get in there and solve these issues with the leadership of President Obama and the people he will have working with him who will do a good job. Not the rotten job that you could always expect from the Bush administration and his rubber stamping republicans.

Everywhere I have read comments posted about election articles, I am amazed at the distinction between the McCain supporters and the Obama supporters. The McCain supporters are negative and sarcastic and the Obama supporters talk more sense. I’m so tired of NONSENSE! We’ve had 8 years of nonsense…I’m ready to listen to real messages about real Americans and I’m sick of talking about imaginary people like Joe the plumber. I’d rather spend my time talking about the soldier that died in Iraq and the other soldier that survived and is still serving. I want to talk about the people that were responsible for not paying attention when we were warned prior to 9-11, I want to talk about the people who are still homeless from hurricane Katrina, I want to talk about where is Bin Laden and how can we get him…the biggest risk in this election is living the past 8 years all over again. I’m afraid this country won’t survive it. I love my country, I pray for the safety of our troops and I’m voting for Obama.

Can we please explain what McCain and co. mean by “trickle-down economics”? It means that the rich make more money and drink more champagne, and then after it goes through their system, they unzip and “trickle down” on the rest of us!
Posted by: Patriot | October 27, 2008, 2:41 am 2:41 am
Regardless of what you think of Obama the man- you sort of have to be scared of the collective lack of independent thinking displayed by his rabid supporters. This is indeed a cult of personality and hero worship not seen in modern times in US politics.
Posted by: Al Jordan | October 27, 2008, 4:06 am 4:06 am
A man who is filthy rich by virtue of his wife and who owns 13 cars and 9 houses cannot understand what middle class Americans are going through. The Republican economic policy is based on the trickle down theory and it does not work..all we have now is just a drip..with the rich getting richer because they are taxed less and the middle class and poor suffering the brunt of the taxation. The richest man in the world(Warren Buffet) supports Obama’s plan..he is also regarded as a smart man..so my vote goes to Obama. McCain does not have a clue!
Posted by: Stanley | October 27, 2008, 4:24 am 4:24 am
It all about the economy and Warren Buffet the richest man in the world and one whom many regard as a smart man is support Obama..Enough said! I am voting for Obama and most of America are. Thank you America..we are literally sick and tired of Republicans and their crap..they have destroyed our country’s economy and have the nerve to raise signs in their so called convention which was filled with only old,sad looking white people(Not representative of America)..The signs read “COUNTRY FIRST” Puhleeeze! After destroying the country’s economy with a stupid baseless war. These people are cooooky and out of touch with reality. Heaven help us all and save us from the Republicans!
Posted by: Stanley | October 27, 2008, 4:30 am 4:30 am
Can someone explain to me why at the Republican party’s so called convention you only saw old, sad looking and young militant looking white people exclusively and at the Democratic convention you saw a cosmopolitan mix of whites, blacks, asians, hispanics, native Americans etc..which is more representative of America…Also when you look at the crowds at McCain/Palin campaigns they are exclusively white and militant, aggressive and mean..but the crowd at Obama’s campaign rallies are a mix of whites, blacks, asians, hispanics native Americans etc Hmmmm! Me thinks the Republican party is dying a slow painful death. Heaven help us all and save us from the Republicans!
Posted by: Stanley | October 27, 2008, 4:34 am 4:34 am
Trickle down economics is a type of voodoo economics(Rightly named by George Bush’s father) that is based on the premise that if you don’t tax the rich and the rich can make more money then some of the wealth would eventually trickle down to the middle class..It really a system used by the Republicans and have fooled most of Americans for 8 years in believing that it works..It seems as though American are wise to the stupidity of the Republican economic scheme because that’s what it is.
Posted by: Stanley | October 27, 2008, 4:42 am 4:42 am
A very old man wise man(quite unlike McCain who is old but not wise)told me that there are two classes of people who support the Republican party. 1.Rich people 2.People who pretend to be rich. He also shared with me that social security and Medicare are tenets of Socialism..so those who decry socialism should not accept those two or seek to change them. Wise old man..I then asked him “Who are you voting for” his answer “The one whom Warren Buffet supports because Warren Buffet is a wise man and its all about the economy”. I thanked the wise old man and thought to myself “What a difference it probably would have been had McCain been that wise”

2001 OBAMA: TRAGEDY THAT ‘REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH’ NOT PURSUED BY SUPREME COURT
Posted by: Kathy | October 27, 2008, 6:58 am 6:58 am
Obama is a Socialist — Maxist.
Barack Obama on Chicago Public Radio WBEZ-FM, 2001: The Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and of more basic issues such as political and economic justice in society… and one of the, I think, tragedies of the civil rights movement was, um, because the civil rights movement became so court focused I think there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalition of powers through which you bring about redistributive change. In some ways we still suffer from that…
Posted by: susie | October 27, 2008, 7:20 am 7:20 am
At the Democratic Convetion it was a bunch of Maxists and American haters who want a welfare state.
Hitler got a lot of folks at his rallies and didn’t give press confernces either.

I hope people will start listening to and see what is going on.
Obama is scrutinized – his policies won’t work, he’s only there for the blacks (he is also 1/2 white), etc etc.
Look at McCain/Palin – change your story or don’t answer or evade the question. If that doesn’t work call Obama a socialist. That’s OK?
It seems odd that the Anchorage newpaper endorses Obama – and guess where Palin is from? To me that is really sending a message. Think twice before your vote goes to her.

because he just nationalized the banking system.
mccain has said he does not know much about economics (or picking a vp-to late there-the deed is done)

mccain will answer for what bush did to this country.
mccain will not win this election.

Obama’s joking goes along with what his campaign is really doing: trying to lie, cheat, and steal throughout the election. Ask Hillary suppporters in caucus states what happened at the polls: they were told to go elsewhere, told to leave before the voting, told to vote on a different day, etc., and these complaints have been formally filed against the Obama campaign.
Obama got where he is today by exploiting loopholes in laws (this is how he excelled in Chicago). He’ll do anything to win. His joking about tricking his opponents supporters is obscene, and so is his candidacy.

and he thinks he is so entittled to it
he said “watch this-i am going to go and get a women who is not know by the american people. has a little track record and still win”
well mccain will have to answer for bush and his mess up of this country.
mccain will not win this election
and he can thank bush for that.

Government policies that favor and further enrich the most wealthy 1% and big corporations, the republican policies – these need to change to cover the other the 99% of the population.
Since when is investing in education, basic health care for our children, the elderly, the disabled, water and electric infrastructure, bridges and road infrastructure, alternative energy – tell me when taking taxes on the profits earned by our hard labor and increasing productivity these last years – when did that become unpatriotic, anti-american and socialistic?
I’ve had it, our children deserve a future that is better. I’ve already voted for Obama.

I am a third generation Democrat. This year I was holding a sign outside the polls during a Primary Election for a fellow Democrat. A woman who was going in to vote took a moment to tell me that she had been a Democrat for years and her father had been head of a nearby county Democratic party for several years, many years ago. She went on to explain that she could not vote for my candidate because the Democrat party had changed so much that she was ashamed of it. I have thought about that statement, and how I remember the Democratic Party in the past, for several months. The Democratic Party has changed and I do not like what I see. I am now calling myself an American Independent, and with stepping back and taking a good hard look at both candidates (one year of researching all candidates) I will be voting for John McCain. He has served this country since he was a young man and has years of experience.
Posted by: Brenda | October 27, 2008, 8:37 am 8:37 am
Brenda: both parties have changed—neither one is perfect—we don’t live in a perfect world either and it keeps changing—sometimes for the good and sometimes for the bad.
I think if Abraham Lincoln were alive today he would not be welcome in the Republican Party—he would be seen as too liberal. I don’t think Dwight David Eisenhower would be welcomed by Republicans today either—he would be thought to be too liberal. I believe both of them would have done today what Colin Powell did—throw their support for Barack Obama.

Geevil -
That’s the best you’ve got? A comment Obama made after he was elected head of the Harvard Law Review…when he was a student?
Would you please knock off the racist stuff? There are enough real issues out there that you can comment on without diving into the hog wallow.
Posted by: Brooklyn Democrat | October 27, 2008, 9:24 am 9:24 am
Brenda – you couldn’t be more wrong: You’ve ascribed policy to Obama that he has NEVER supported or delivered. His voting record does nothing or the middle class. His actions to date relect a guy who will SAY anything – even contradictory opinions – to get a vote. His “plans” have morphed from radical liberal to center to even coopting some of Gov Palin’s energy plan after the VP debate, when he saw that people agreed with her. It is not unpatriotic to tax everyone and deliver infrastructure, military defense, and law enforcement to all. IT IS VERY UNPATRIOTIC to tax those who contribute to the country’s economy (big business and small business) ONLY and then distribute their earnings to those who will not contribute. That is SOCIALISM and creation o a welfare state. Think of BO’s latest economic plan as welfare for all, becasue he intends to punish those who earn, such that thise who do not (for whatever reason) can particpate equally in society. His lifeling work has been to undermine and destroy (think Ayers, Klonsky, Khalid al Mansour, rashid Khalidi, Frank Davis,Dohn) America at her very roots – democracy – and create a socialist nation. Want to know how that works out? Check out Cuba, France, Venezuela, etc…not so great. And, it’s not what this great country was built on. I am so sick of his hatespeech towards our country and all things American. I love my freedoms; he means to cut them. Look at his attempts to crush the 1st Amendment in Missouri – the Truth Squads, in Florida the interview with Biden, on the WGN radio interview with Stanley Kurtz that he tried to kill, teh letter to the DOJ to shut down TV stations that ran ads revealing his association with Ayers. He spends $245,000 PER HOUR in advertising!!! That’s sick!
Posted by: GAEL | October 27, 2008, 10:01 am 10:01 am
Actually, “nevada 2″, if you had taken money out of the panhandler’s bowl, put that and the $5 you might have tipped the pizza delivery boy, stuffed those in an envelope, and mailed the envelope to the wealthiest person whose address you can find, you’d be redistributing wealth the way Bush and McCain do.
In a progressive tax system such as we have, there is ALWAYS redistribution of wealth – the question is which direction it flows in.
John McCain wants to give huge additional corporate tax breaks rather than cutting taxes on people in the lower tax brackets. That’s taking money from those who make less and giving it to those who make more.
If you support a flat tax, John McCain is not your man – sorry to disappoint you.
