I remember was grandma – 88 at the time – began internal hemorhaging. I was on the opposite coast and I was in a project at work that I did not ABSOLUTELY have to be there for but it was my baby and I was racked with guilt while I stayed for three days to push it thru (I did stay in touch via phone) when I was able to fly back thank gawd grandma hadn’t – yet – slipped into coma.
I think back, and am kinda haunted by, those three days I didn’t head back and HAD she slipped into coma…..

Obama stated that if elected he would enact budget cuts in the range of tens of billions of dollars, stop investing in “unproven” missile defense systems, not “weaponize” space, “slow development of Future Combat Systems,” and work towards eliminating all nuclear weapons. Obama has refused to produce:
1. A “vault” version (certified copy of his “original” long version)
Birth Certificate
2. A certified copy of Certification of Citizenship;
3. A Certified copy of Oath of Allegiance
Why won’t Obama produce the federal court ordered documents?

We take care of our elders as should be the case. Obama is again demonstrating leadership. Not taking time to visit grandma would be selfish.

He has also rallied red and blue states towards a common vision, which shows his superior leadership skill. He is very inclusive. He never polarizes. McCain always try to diminish him. Obama talks about issues and his vision mainly and gives rebuttal to attacks. He never dismishes on his own.

Um, liberati there are recent pictures of his grandmother. She was even in one of his earlier ad commercials during the democratic primary season. Toot simply did not want so much attention drawn on her. So she has pretty much stayed out of the media spotlight to avoid getting cannibalized by right wing fascists like the most of the GOP are turning out to be.

This birth certificate thing is way out of hand. Chad–do you even know that “Certificate of Live Birth” IS a birth certificate? Certified birth certificates are not kept by hospitals, they are kept by state/county offices. Anytime a person needs a copy of their birth certificate, they can request one from the appropiate office. Warlock, 2007 (seen printed on the reserve side) is the date the CERTIFICATE was printed by the state of Hawaii–not the date of Senator Obama’s birth.
When I applied for a passport a few years ago, I took my original copy of my hospital birth certificate (with its pretty gold seal and my infant footprints on it) to the Post Office. That hospital birth certificate is not a legal document–it is just a pretty memento. (Don’t believe me, call you local post office and see if they will accept a birth certificate issued by a hosptial for a passport.) I had to request a certificed copy of my birth certificate from the vital records office of my birth state. Besides my birth date, it had the date that the state printed that certificate. That is what the US government considers legal proof of birth in this country.
Senator Obama has produced copies of his LEGAL birth certificate. If this was a fake, it would have come out long before now. As for the lawsuit in Hawaii, there is no reason for Obama to go to Hawaii to deal with that–the legal briefs have been filed and much of this is in the hands of the judge to rule on. Parts of the lawsuit are just laughable. One of the “proofs” that Berg uses to make his case is the difference inthe hospital name used in the Wikipedia English edition and the Wikipedia Italian edition!

Blakeman’s comments crossed a line. He went beyond just being absurd to seemingly making light of the fact that Obama’s grandmother is seriously ill. His remarks are unacceptable.

Even if he were born overseas, which he was not, US law would still make him a US citizen because one of his parents, in this case his mother, was a US citizen. This was true in the case of Sen. I am a Baptist, and I respect and recognize others religious beliefs, I intend to keep being a Baptist Christian, if we eliminate to any degree the separation of Church and State, that right, that one thing —so important to so many of us, will be in jeopardy.

I find it really strange that Obama when referring to his ailing grandma repeats the same lines from his book and convention. Is Obama not able to think, talk outside the box of rehearsed speeches even about his own grandma at a time like this?

I wonder how much gas was wasted taking a private 767 vs. flying a smaller plane or commercial flight? I’m glad he went, but wished he would recognize the harm to the environment and cost to his donors.

To those of you criticizing Obama for taking his private 767… if your parent (and remember that he was raised by this woman, and both his biological parents are dead…this is ALL he has left) was gravely ill and you had the opportunity to avoid the hassles and headaches of commercial flying (given that it’s a 9 hour flight to Hawaii) and could get there on your terms….you know you would do it too.

Somehow, I have the feeling that perhaps grandma was not feeling well, they took her to the hospital to have herself checked out and they released her.
Obama stops his campaign, travels to Hawaii to see grandma DAYS AFTER she was released from the hospital.
Somehow, the Obama secrecy about his grandma’s cause of illness and his after the fact trip to Hawaii makes me suspicious that all this is perhaps Obama “theatrics” as usual.
Perhaps, this Obama attention grabbing “theatrics” is an attempt by Obama to shift the media’s attention and change the discussion from “Ayers”, “Joe The Plumber” and “Gird your loins, man” to… “Obama suspends campaining to visit his ill grandma”.
Obama may in fact a great ACTOR.
Having said that, I wish that both Senator Obama and his grandmother are always in good health.
