Obama Says He’s ‘in the Hunt’ for a Blue North Carolina
ABC News’ Sunlen Miller reports: Sen. Barack Obama –- settling in for an anticipated two days of debate prep in North Carolina — told the N.C. Democratic State Party dinner that he has high hopes for flipping the state blue.
"Despite the pundits, despite the prognosticators, despite the cynicism, turns out 30 days left we are right here in the hunt in North Carolina," Obama said to a crowd of more than 700 who came out for the annual Vance-Aycock Dinner and were surprised by Obama’s last minute appearance.
Polls indicate the race is neck-and-neck between Obama and Sen. John McCain in North Carolina. President Bush won in the state in 2004 by 13 percent, yet the Obama campaign believes it is one of the key states that they can compete in and turn blue this election.
"When we started this campaign we said that we were going to change the political map," Obama told the audience and then referenced his large primary victory over Sen. Hillary Clinton in the state as an indicator of his support. "We had a few bumps in the road during the primary season — turns out that people in North Carolina decided they were going to lift up the Obama campaign. So I said to myself, maybe we should just keep on coming to North Carolina and see what happens."
With 15 electoral votes, North Carolina has become an important goal for Obama. The Illinois senator has spent seven days in the state since the start of the general election.
Obama will hold a rally in Asheville on Sunday afternoon and then spend two straight days working at a resort in the strategically chosen mountains of North Carolina, preparing for Tuesday’s debate with McCain in Nashville.

Since the RNC wants to play the guilt by association swifboating mentally negative campaign tactics it looks like the spotlight will shift to her alleged abuse of power acts with Todd defending her in the Troopergate investigation. Go Barack.. You hit N. Carolina and I’ll be down here in Florida turning them around. Between the two, history will be made :)
Once we can get past the Roveian tactics being used by the GOP, people realize that the choice is easy.. McCain supports the rich and big corporates, Obama is and has always been for what is best for all Americans. Easy as pie to see when you look what each has been up to this session in congress and what legislation they have introduced. I invite all to go look for themselves:

Barack Obama has ties to people who hate America because he lives down the street from Bob Ayers and has met him? Served on a board with him?
So if your neighbor who also attends your save the lord mega church turns out to be a pedophile, then you have ties to people who hurt children? Should we prosecute you too?
Or better yet, maybe McCain should get rid of Palin as she has ties to people who hate America- she sleeps with them. Her husband Todd was a member of the Alaska secessionist party– that seems like a much stronger tie. Not even counting the heebie-jeebies most people get watching the witch doctor you tube tape blessing her that is on the internet.
People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones and what about instead of empty rhetoric about who loves America more, we try to have candidates focus on solutions to the tanking economy and growing unemployment?
Tell me christie, what it is about you Republicans that make you the cheapest dates around when it comes to gathering votes?
Especially with a philandering candidate whose wife had drug problems and serious lobbyist “ties” and a running mate who only wants to support abstinence in public schools with a pregnant teenage daughter? Plenty to play with there as McCain’s campaign goes into smear mode.
Seriously? Is there anyone you wouldn’t support if you put an R by their name?

We must address McCain’s unAmerican and dangerous comments. I don’t know if there is a line you can’t cross in American politics. But this is it. McCain is betraying his own country. I never liked his policies much. But I know that is the foundation of democracy – not agreeing. Right now I am starting to despise the man and everything he stands for. He is a greedy bastard. With no honor. No decency. He is an unAmerican unpatriotic pig. And no matter how much lipstick he wears. You can’t hide your true self for ever. We can see who he is. Unpatriotic and UnAmerican.
McCain, what you said is not American. What you said is not patriotic. What you said is not in the interest of America. What you said is a lie sold to all Americans. What you said is about your own greed. What you said is fearmongering. What is said was unethical. What you said is without honor. What you said is the type of thing the enemies of this great country and real terrorists will say.

Economist Thomas Sowell: Do Facts Matter?
Fact Number One: It was liberal Democrats, led by Senator Christopher Dodd and Congressman Barney Frank, who for years– including the present year– denied that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were taking big risks that could lead to a financial crisis.
It was Senator Dodd, Congressman Frank and other liberal Democrats who for years refused requests from the Bush administration to set up an agency to regulate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
It was liberal Democrats, again led by Dodd and Frank, who for years pushed for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to go even further in promoting subprime mortgage loans, which are at the heart of today’s financial crisis.
Alan Greenspan warned them four years ago. So did the Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers to the President. So did Bush’s Secretary of the Treasury, five years ago.
Yet, today, what are we hearing? That it was the Bush administration “right-wing ideology” of “de-regulation” that set the stage for the financial crisis. Do facts matter?
We also hear that it is the free market that is to blame. But the facts show that it was the government that pressured financial institutions in general to lend to subprime borrowers, with such things as the Community Reinvestment Act and, later, threats of legal action by then Attorney General Janet Reno if the feds did not like the statistics on who was getting loans and who wasn’t.
Is that the free market? Or do facts not matter?

It is unfortunate that McCain supporters are completely unable to defend his stance on the positions, and are only able to attack out at their opponents. And most base that attack on completely irrational issues that have no bearing on the future of this country and where each candidates proposals will lead us.
All one has to do is open their eyes and it becomes clear as day. Even this redneck working American can see that McCain only wants to make the rich richer, even though he keeps beating the ‘I am all for main street not wall street’ drum. Does he think us poor working slobs are that stupid? Does he think we are so uneducated that we have no idea what is going on. Well, he is dead wrong. We heard that crap from the nut case currently in office, and look where we are now. No thanks.

Obama Acting over confident.
Hoping for the votes to come rolling in.
It still is evident that the majority of Democrats did not want Obama in the primaries, and they still do not want him now.
He knows that, One of the reasons for the spinning of his marketing and PR Team to try to gather another vote.
From a man who came from no where, with nothing, who stands for nothing.
Who’s campaign was based on Hating bush and the Government.
Who’s goal is to Change Governments of this Country.
Who wants to redistribute the wealth and power.
Who wants to nationalize and Socialize this country.
Who Sounds more like Rev Wright every day.
Who’s Campaign style resembles Hitlers, and who is obsessed with Germany. Who’s economy plan is like the miracle economy plan post war Germany.
Who has promised to give everyone something, The rich and the poor, Big buisness and industry, The blacks their reparations, Health Care for all.
Who wants to lower taxes and increase spending, who want to lower defense spending and increase Payments to global hunger and reducing the worlds poverty with money.
Who refuses to say where this money is coming from. How these plans will work or give any specfics or details. Of such large plans and a new system for all of America.
Who has gone behind the countries back to foreign Governments and has made Promises to them, when he had no power to do so.
A man who has sold out the small town americans to the wealthy and laughed. Who has sold out the whites to the blacks and has laughed. Who has sold out Fellow Congressmen and Senators to others and laughs.
A man who has played on peoples basic needs, fears and beleifs and exploited them to get votes.
A man who knows he can not deliver on all his empty promises and does not plan to, Will blame someone for it or put it off as Political Rhetoric.
A man who is doing what he was trained to do, with out a concious and care.
His prime care is to make history and what he was trained to do by his mentors.
A man who has brainwashed so many Americans Does not deserve the Presidency of the United States and Should never ever be elected.
It is time Americans Stood up for themselves and their Country and Said No Obama.
They have a responsibility to themselves and thier families and to their Country to break the Chains that bind them. To get out from under the Control that has taken them over.
We Love our Country, We love our Freedoms, We can not let anyone take them away away from us.
Mr Obama’s Change the Government and his speech and chant, Change the Government, You need to say NO you can’t.
If you think that in the past year the economy and the state of the nation was a coincidence with obama’s plan, you are sadly mistaken. It took planning and assistance to pull it off. The bail outs were pay backs for the help and assistance received. Yes he can and he did.
The DNC said they would win this election at all cost. Well they stood true to their words. It cost the American people plenty.
The Democrats were not overly upset with the economy crashing, because they knew the reason and how to fix it.
The bail out they were concerned about, so they could pay back friends and get to own the banks for future use.
All along using their favorite excuse and one to blame, bush and the government. when it was all in thier hands.
So When the Rest of the nationalization process takes place and the Socialization is started, you can remember where it started and who was behind it, and why they wanted it so bad. All in the Democratic handbook.
Say not to Obama and keep your country free.

Memo to republicans – you need to offer more than swift-boating this time around if you want my vote. Unless your campaign strategy consists of something more than spreading lies about your opponent and creating fear in voters, I WILL NOT VOTE FOR YOU THIS TIME. Electing a democrat as president is rare in NC, about as rare as electing a republican govenor.
Right now it looks good for a republican as govenor; fate might be working for Obama in NC.
As Clinton era negotiated trade deals keep bleeding jobs and factories from the state, panic sets up on the minions who can’t remember what happened day before yesterday let alone a few years back so they flock to who promises the most. The only problem with this is that by the time the next guy sits in the Oval Office we might just be broke.

Christie, it is becoming apparent that most Americans are smarter than you because we want a president with superior intelligence and a steady hand. McCain is looking older and more foolish and more ill-equipped to be president day by day. His decision-making processes (if you dare to call it that) are abominably poor, just like his policies will make this country if he should happen to steal this election.

IMO, NC has a serious chance of turning blue. I am from Southeastern Va and our state has a real chance of turning blue as well. Our local paper put it perfectly…. For the first time there are more registered voters that have NO ties to the Mason-Dixon and the “Old South” and therefore there is a greater chance that we will vote democratic. It has already shown in the fact that our last two govenors have been democrats. When you take away the underlying racisim and politics of fear, you get people who will actually vote the issues. As of right now, the main issue is the Economy and the War. COming from a majority military area, the war matters to us. Good luck NC turning your state to blue. Maybe once this election is over and Obama wins, then 2012 has a greater chance of changing the entire US map to the better candidate, not just the one who “”looks like us”"…. Watch out America, because once Obama wins, that will open up the country to many other minorities who are qualified for office but cant get elected because of underlying racism. They say there always has to be the first… Remember Jackie Robinson?????

the financial woes of this country were caused by CLINTON, he was teh one whom relaxed the mortage regulations so millions more that could NOT qualify for housing loans and mortages could.
it was clinton that pencil whipped the economy while HE was in office.
you dem-wits seem to think everything happens in teh blink of an eye, or it just magically happens overnight…well it doesnt…so you blame bush.
clintons relaxation of the housing industry was fueled further by the re-finance period.
the economic collaspe of the financial institutions are the result of FAILED MORTAGE HOLDERS…that was the bulk of the loans that failed.
if your going to point finger at the finger at someone point i at the dem-wit CLINTON.
HE is the OWNER OF THIS ATROSITY.
and to janice…jump on you FOOL !!!
i got plenty….
O HELEN…you speak of less than 1/100 of 1 % of known terriosts.
the rest are of muslum faith so take you GD blinders off and LOOK AROUND HELEN.
your perfect for a Obama vote, your EXACTLY what he wants, you and untold thousands that are so STUPID YOU

there is not one shread off proof that obama can or will change anything…..you believe in a LIAR and a FRAUD…and gawd forbid if O is elected, TERRIOSTS world wide will flood the boarders into this country, you see FOOL ..OBAMA DOES NOT BELIEVE IN HOMELAND SECURITY !
so the next time you hold your kid[s] or grandkids…you be dam shurr you make it clear THAT YOU DID THIS TO THERE COUNTRY !

Even a six year old can see that McCain is TOO OLD to be chosen president for the next four years!!!!!!
HOW DO I KNOW?
Easy! My son and I are watching the “TODAY” show and there was a short segment with Obama & McCain’s photos on the screen, my son (half asleep TO BOOT) pointed at Obama and said “mommy pick HIM”
“the black dude?”
“yeah”
“you like him?”
“yeah more better”
“why baby?”
“um, because the other one, old people have to retire!”
MY SON IS SIX YEARS OLD!
he’s a GENIOUS! lol

The Barack/Biden combination is the right one for the US. The McCain/Palin combination will be worse than the Bush/Chenney one.In 2000, the RP gave America George W. Bush for President. Bush emerged winner against McCain in the primary race. This clearly proves that Bush is better candidate than McCain and mind you at that time McCain was 8 years younger and hence sharper. But still he lost it!

The facts are pretty clear, here folks…McCain has fewer resources than Obama because McCain decided to take Federal Funds. I honestly think he did it because he knew he couldn’t out-raise Obama, but he has let that issue die.
Objectively, look at the political landscape…McCain is not out there trying to turn blue states red. He’s defending the turf that GWB won in ’04. All Obama has to do is turn, basically, ONE STATE from red to blue.
Even if Obama doesn’t win NC…McCain has to now seriously divert resources to NC, which gives the Obama-Biden ticket more time to go to Colorado, New Mexico, Florida, and Ohio.
What is really sad is that McCain has to try to win not on the issues, but on the culture war.
OOOOOH, look out for the Black man! He’s scary! That’s what McCain is doing.

The people of NC are conservatives but smart. Now, the state is made up of immigrants from northern states due to job relocation. You know the Obama / Biden ticket is this country’s best hope for addressing our needs and turning this country around. So, TAKE A NEIGHBOR TO THE POLL; TALK TO A FRIEND
WE NEED “OBAMA & BIDEN 08” Do your best to MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!

: “Beware of Enemy from within”
Monday, September 29, 2008, AM.
This election should have us all very worried. So many things to consider. About a year ago I would have voted for Obama. I have changed my mind three times since then. I watch all the news channels; jumping from one to another. But, I feel if you view MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News, you might get some middle ground to work with.
About six months ago, I started thinking ‘where did the money come from for Obama’. I have four daughters who went to College, and we were middle class, and money was tight. We (including my girls) worked hard and there were lots of student loans. I started looking into Obama’s life.
Around 1979 Obama started college at Occidental in California. He is very open about his two years at Occidental; he tried all kinds of drugs and was wasting his time, but even though he had a brilliant mind, did not apply himself to his studies. ‘Barry’ (that was the name he used all his life)
during this time had two roommates, Muhammad Hasan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid, both from Pakistan.
During the summer of 1981, after his second year in college, he made an ‘around the world’ trip. Stopped to see his mother in Indonesia, then on to Hyderabad in India; three weeks in Karachi, Pakistan where he stayed with his roommate’s family; then off to Africa to visit his father’s family. My question ? Where did he get the money for this trip? Neither I, nor any of my children would have had money for a trip like this when they where in college. When he returned ‘home’ he started school at Columbia University in New York. It is at this time he wants everyone to call him Barack – not Barry. Do you know what the tuition is at Columbia? It’s not cheap to say the least. Where did he get money for tuition? Student Loans? Maybe.
After Columbia, he went to Chicago to work as a Community Organizer for $12,000.. a year. Why Chicago? Why not New York? He was already living in New York.
By ‘chance’ he met Antoin ‘Tony’ Rezko, born in Aleppo Syria, and a real estate developer in Chicago. Rezko has been convicted of fraud and bribery just this year.
Rezko, was named ‘Entrepreneur of the Decade’ by the Arab-American Business and Professional Association’. About two years later, Obama entered Harvard Law School. Do you have any idea what tuition is for Harvard Law School? Where did he get the money for Law School? More student loans?
After Law school, he went back to Chicago. Rezko offered him a job, which he turned down. But, he did take a job with Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland. Guess what? They represented ‘Rezar’ which is Rezko’s firm. Rezko was one of Obama’s first major financial contributors when he ran for
office in Chicago.
In 2003, Rezko threw an early fundraiser for Obama which Chicago Tribune reporter David Mendelland claims was instrumental in providing Obama with ‘seed money’ for his U.S. Senate race. In 2005, Obama purchased a new home in Kenwoood District of Chicago for $1.65 million (less than asking price). With ALL those “Student Loans” – Where did he get the money for the property? On the same day Rezko’s wife, Rita, purchased the adjoining empty lot at full price. The London Times reported that Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi-born Billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million three weeks before Obama’s new home was purchased. Obama met Nadhmi Auchi many times with Rezko.
Now, we have Obama running for President. Valerie Jarrett, was Michele Obama’s boss. She is now Obama’s chief advisor and he does not make major decisions without talking to her first. Where was Jarrett born? Ready for this? Shiraz, Iran! Do we see a pattern here? Or am I going crazy?
On May 10, 2008 The Times reported, Robert Malley advisor to Obama was ‘sacked’ after the press found out he was having regular contacts with ‘Hamas’, which controls Gaza and is connected with Iran. This past week, buried in the back pages of the papers, Iraqi newspapers reported that during Obama’s visit to Iraq, he asked their leaders to do nothing about the war until after he is elected, and he will ‘Take care of things’.
Oh, and by the way, remember the college roommates that where born in Pakistan? They are in charge of all those ‘small’ Internet campaign contributions for Obama. Where is that money coming from? The poor and middle class in this country? Or could it be from the Middle East?
And the final bit of news. On September 7, 2008, The
Washington Times posted a verbal slip that was made on ‘This Week’ with George Stephanapoulos. Obama on talking about his religion said, ‘My Muslim faith’. When questioned, “‘he made a mistake”‘. Some mistake!
All of the above information was gotten on line. If you would like to check it came fromWikipedia encyclopedia: ‘Barack Obama’; ‘Tony Rezko’; ‘Valerie Jarrett’; ‘Daily Times – Obama visited Pakistan in 1981′; ‘The Washington Times – September 7, 2008′ ; ‘The Times May 10, 2008′.
Now the Big question – If I found out all this information on my own, why haven’t all our ‘intelligent’ members of the press been reporting this?
A phrase that keeps ringing in my ear….
‘Beware of the enemy from within’!!!

Now that Jesse Helms is floating in the ether, maybe the real “silent majority” in my beautiful state can finally be heard. For too long, North Carolina has been seen as a hotbed of racist/fearful/ignorant credos. Not so. There is a real voice of compassion, intelligence, and wisdom under the blue skies, certainly not represented by the faux-bubbaisms of the Republican party here.
Let us not forget that, even since the Civil War, North Carolina has had a progressive mindset behind the virulent redneckery. Last to secede from the Union, from its mountains to its shores, both city-dweller and agriculturists have created their own brand of forward-thinking life. Don’t let the hucksters (most of ‘em carpetbaggers, in truth,) fool you.

NC will go blue.
1. In addition to liberal bastions Asheville, Durham and Chapel Hill, both Raleigh and Charlotte are far more politically balanced than you’d think.
2. We have a vast State University system, as well as the University of NC system, Duke and countless other schools – all of which are stocked with students who will overwhelmingly vote Obama.
3. We have a large and energized minority population, who will overwhelmingly vote Obama.
4. The Republican base is not excited about McSame – even less so now that he voted for the bailout. Their turnout will be low.
5. Our Democratic US Senate candidate, Kay Hagan, is out in front of carpetbagger incumbent Libby Dole, nailing the DC-resident for rarely visiting NC, much less living here. Support for Hagan – and the possibility for a two-fer President and Senate sweep here – will further motivate Dem. voters.
6. The decisive Dem primary battle this year motivated huge numbers of Dems to get registered and to get involved.
Now, let’s make sure it happens! Donate today to the Obama campaign! Go to an Obama headquarters near you and volunteer! Steer your undecided friends and neighbors to barackobama.com.
In NC, Yes We Can!

Oh Chris, you can’t possibly be so naive can you dear? Did you ever consider that the ‘intelligent’ members may not be reporting it because it would make them look about as uninformed as you? Please continue your research though.. Here is a hint for you, you can find out a lot about your ‘subject’ matter over at politifact and perhaps even snopes.
Honey, if you are flip-flopping between voting for Obama or not based on this kind of nonsense, then you really are not basing your vote on what is best for the country. Do yourself a favor hun, go look at the issues.. you know, things like taxes, health care, energy, the environment.. those kind of things that really matter. Then you look at how each candidate feels about them and what plans they have. Perhaps bounce on over to the Tax Policy Center to see their analysis of each ones tax plans. Places like the Wall Street Journal, Economic Policy Institute and the Commonwealth Fund have done an analysis of the health plans. Perhaps go visit the library of congress to see what bills each has introduced to see what kind of legislation each believes in. Then you can really make up your mind in an informed way, ok dear?

Back in the 2004 elections, Dems were making the same claim that local boy Edwards will win NC when on election night Bush won it comfortably.
Obama has the same chance of winning in NC like Jesse Jackson or Farakkhan has. McCain will win NC easily.

Mr Obama is working hard for the working man. We need to chose a leader who will bring this world together and build back the trust and respect America deserves from other nations. Middle class America is making their voice heard. Country gentlemen and co-founders of “Rednecks4Obama”, Viessman and Spencer continue to spread the message. There will be swing states turning blue. Count on it. God bless democracy. http://www.rednecks4obama.com

Dear, that is just plain ignorant.. are you afraid that those scary Canadians to the north are planning an invasion as well honey? Don’t look now hun, but your irrational intolerance seems to be contributing to your lack of thinking skills.
But don’t worry dear, Senator Obama sits on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs committee so he has the inside scoop on threats to our country. And he has already indicated his desire to do what Dubba failed at, to go into Afghanistan where Bin Laden really is and finally end the job. You remember Afghanistan don’t you hun, that is where we were, before the current wingnut in office decided to instead take us on our Iraq journey as a distraction from his failure.

Simple fact. Since Obama captured North Carolina primary he has apppeared in this state at least four or five times. His wife has visited a number of times and Biden a few times. McCain (as far as I can remember) zero. So, my perception is that McCain has taken North Carolina for granted and felt he could phone it in here. So, did that Bush lackey Elizabeth Dole. The race is close here because both are indifferent to the people here. In Dole’s case that is especially alarming since she is our senator. She has been MIA for six years and now she is trying to promote all the good things she has done in office, same as McCain. They are both nothing more than Bush apologists that need to be shown the door. Hopefully, that will happen in November.

Greg h,
See my previous post. Living here in North Carolina I can tell the area is very diverse and growing more so, especially the triad area. The arrogance in your response is the same arrogance the McCain has shown to this state. If nothing else McCain will have to work hard to keep it red. So far, he has done next to nothing and that is reflected in the polls here.

Oh my, another poor soul who is living in the dark ages.. please dear, put your fears to rest, the big scary black man is only here to help.. It’s grandpa that you really need to be afraid of, and we are doing our best to keep him from doing any more damage.
You poor frightened sheep just keep repeating the same old tired message and Roveian tactics based on fear and ignorance.. RadicalIran scribbled: “it does not matter to her teh name Hussein is MUSLIM and GIVEN ONLY TO MUSLIM MALES at birth.”
Oh honey, you are so correct! I have never based my vote on someones name, as that would be completely idiotic and only show a complete lack of intelligence dear!
I look at what is best for the country, and vote for whoever has the best chance to take it in the right direction.
I look at each ones tax plan, and what it will do to the economy and Americans. McCain wants to continue on the same path as Bush, with a trickle down taxation plan. Hun, that hasn’t worked since it was first coined by Hoover, when it triggered the great depression.. it didn’t work for Regan, who managed to raise the federal deficit by more than all the former presidents before him combined.. and it hasn’t worked for either Dubbas dad, or Dubba himself, who took a balanced budget and federal deficit and still managed to raise our countries debt by $133 billion his first year due to that tax policy.
Instead of voting because of someones name, I will look at the difference in health care plans.. and compare the analysis of both and which is best for Americans. McCains plan would cause Americans to lose health coverage dear.. do you place any value on that? Does it matter to you that both would cost the same, but Obamas plan would mean more Americans would get insurance, and it would be more efficient at doing it? Apparently not if you are basing your vote on completely irrational issues.
Honey, please do yourself and your fellow Americans a favor and open your eyes.. If you feel McCain is better for the country, at least explain why?
You see, I think the real reason you attack Obama is because you can’t really defend McCains position.. not on taxes, not on health care, not on energy, not on the enron loophole, not on foreign policy not on the environment. If you look at their positions, instead of their names, then the choice is really clear honey, so please do what’s best for America, ok?

Oh honey, you couldn’t be more wrong! You just keep showing your complete lack of knowledge.. Dear, do yourself a favor, hop on over to the library of congress and see how many bills each has introduced in congress this session and what they are for.. and notice how McCain has only introduce a little more than 30, while Obama has introduced much more than 100. And when you look at what those are focused on, you will see what each candidate really cares about. And lets not forget that McCain has missed more votes in this current session than any other Senator, over 64% dear! And Obama has voted more than McCain, so if anyone isn’t doing much, I think you can figure out which one that is honey.. please go have a look, it will put your mind to rest and you will probably gain a little knowledge about what you are arguing about..

The movement away from McCain is not too surprising. He seems irritable and tired, to be running out of energy. He is flailing about and gives the impression at times that he has all but given up. McCain’s recent erratic and risky moves include: (1) the choice of Palin without properly vetting her, (2) the attempt to cancel the first debate, (3) the attempt to insert himself in the bailout negotiations and look like he was in charge. These moves are not paying off in these unsettling times and his comment that the economy was fundamentally sound as the crisis was emerging was a major gaffe. We should expect to see the gap widening even further, absent any more surprises.
However, we are just entering the dirtiest phase of McCain’s already nasty but losing campaign. Obama will need to be super vigilant to fight this garbage and he will need to send out his attack dogs as well. The SwiftBoaters, Rovian dirty tricksters, Jerome Corsi, Willie Horton ads, Scary Sarah, its going to be like a Hollywood horror movie until we put the wooden stake into the McCain campaign on November 4th.

Apparently you have as little reading comprehension as Palin! The New York Times article, which Palin based her recent attack on, made it more than clear that any relationship was tenuous at best, yet she continued to claim otherwise.. nicely managing, once again, to avoid explaing why the McCain/Palin platform would be better for America and instead just attacking Obama. It most likely is because she cannot defend the platform. While it is nice that she was actually able to tell us the name of a newspaper she has written, she apparently has a problem actually understanding what she reads. It appears that you and her share many similarities..

Oh not at all dear! I harbor no misconceptions about our leaders, only the reasonable expectation that they will do their best for this Country and will attempt to take it where their proposed plans would lead. I would hardly call Sen. Obama a saviour. But I do think that he is an intelligent gifted individual who has over come many hardships in his life to achieve what many could only dream of. I have seen what legislation he has introduced, and unlike McCain, whos primary focus is the Military, Obama is pushing for thing that would make American lives better. Equal rights, energy independence, affordable health care for more Americans, increased fuel efficency, faster switch to alternative fuels, environmental issues, transparency in government and ethics reform, etc.. It will be refreshing to have him in office after 8 years of the current numnuts. And I’m very glad that both he and Biden are experts in Constitutional law, as I’m beginning to think that the two nuts in office now have never even read the Constitution.
So you see dear, we have no preconceived misconceptions, as you apparently do.

The republicans are going to get desperate like we’ve never seen before. Their only hope this election was the White House, having ceded the House and Senate to the democrats. Expect to see the recent “Obama is the Antichrist” (http://www.RichMerritt.wordpress.com) allegation rise to the surface. Sorry to confuse your world view with a couple of ‘facts’, but Bush has vetoed 11 bills since being in office. Only 1 was when the Republicans controlled the Congress. Guess when the other 10 were? You can only do so much when a President with a brain the size of a pea is in power.. and yet, that is what the GOP is trying to do to us again, but even worse. Not only is McCain a D- student with a military mentality, the VP slot is being filled with someone who took 6 years to get ‘C’ average in Journalism. If you think the last 8 years have been rough, can you imagine what would happen to this country if dumb and dumber made it in!!

Why do some Obama opponents refer to him as the messiah, saviour or the annointed one. These are your terms and I find it really amusing. Just because we are voting democratic doesn’t mean we are drinking kool ade, as you like to say. We happen to not want McCain or any other republican in the white house. Why is that so hard for some to believe.

Senators Obama and Biden are winning. They will win. They have over 269 electoral votes in the bag and are set to bring in another 10-80 electoral votes. It is the most exciting election I have ever seen and I have voting in plenty.
Mr. McCain is part of the Bush/Cheney Republican legacy. It is the same and these are the people who abused our Blood and Treasure. Kick the bums and robber barons out! These Republican elites are selling you kool-aid to vote for them again. Mr. McCain isn’t a leader. He is an old has-been, a POW from 44 yrs ago, and the friend of lobbyists. He is an opportunist who has developed a “maverick” brand. But “maverick” in this case is not the Camel cigarette rugged individualist, this is the old cowboy term of a castrated male bull who is erratic and separates from the herd (sometimes bringing a few along) and causes chaos. He’s not a leader. Poor, poor man, who’s mantra is “I want to be president, I want to be president”.

Janice: “Oh darling, please.. McCain is all about making his wealthy friends more so. If you can’t see that, then you have indeed been fooled. You can pull your guilt-by-association tricks all you like but it won’t change the facts darling. Remember, it wasn’t Obama who got caught with his hands in the cookie jar.. can you say “Keaton-5″.. there you go, I new you could. Go look at the issues dear.. it is more than obvious who is for who.”
—
Could you possibly be any more condescending? I suppose you and your more nasty counterparts with the name-calling and the attacks are what constitute “change” under an Obama administration?
As someone who has been on the fence and done independent research, not just been programmed by the mainstream media, maybe you would get some of your facts straight, DARLING:
1. Yes, McCain showed bad judgment with Keating NEARLY 30 years ago. Obama’s associations are long-standing and recent.
2. Let’s look at Obama’s judgment – without experience, he’s asking us to conclude his judgment is superior to McCain’s. Here’s a small list – Jeremiah Wright (whom he lied point blank about, so there are doubts about his character); Tony Rezko (again, whom he lied about); Ayers (that is the least of them, in my mind, but it is an indication he will associate with anyone to further his political ambitions; Michael Pfleger – whom he implicitly gave the “thumbs up” to, even when the man called one of his political rivals a “b*&^h” and a racist. Certainly, his own wife hasn’t helped his cause, and you notice she’s only appearing in front of “pro-Obama” crowds.
3. Obama’s financial advisers are shin-deep in controversy with Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. He’s lucky because – as has been the case since the start of this election – the media lets it slide.
The more time goes on, the more this man scares me.

It’s unbelievable to me that there are still people out there who supported Hillary, and now support McCain/Palin. Do you even know what voting is about? Do you even know why you supported Hillary in the first place (beside the fact that she’s female). Do you know why you pick a certain candidate over another? You do it based on issues and views and facts (ie. women’s rights), not by blindly playing ‘follow the woman’. It’s sickening, and in my opinion, an uninformed voter should not vote at all.

Janice, I think I’m falling in love with you! ;) Keep up the good work. Palin could make one lose faith in America but you restore it. I thought Palin’s line was that she wasn’t a politician? Let me see: using lawyers to block an investigation, misusing taxpayer funds to pay expenses for living at home; telling lies about your record and an opponent; dodging questions… Sure sounds like a politician to me. Unwise, too. You don’t win elections by reaching out to the people who are going to vote for you no matter what; you win elections by persuading the block of moderates in the middle to pick your side. What moderate is going to swallow this nonsense? NC is a beautiful state, full of good people and changing fast. Obama will carry NC easily if Palin keeps doin’ all that work for him. Also. Donchaknow? In fact, that will be the easy bit. I am not sure how any President will cope with the terrible legacy he will inherit: trillions in debt, two unwinnable wars, government out of control, American industry wiped out (apart from cars, guns and video games) and, most urgently, no coherent energy and environment policy. But at least Obama is talking about the problems which is an encouraging sign he might have thought about some solutions.

I don’t give a #@%! if Obama is a Muslim or not. All I care about are his policies and his positions on the issues. Reasonably intelligent people feel the same. Actually I think it’s wonderful that someone with his name and background can rise to the highest position in the land, and I think that shows the greatness of this country. I’m in Virginia and it looks like Virginia will definitely go blue. I’ll be doing my part to make that happen.

So if you disagreed with him keep it to yourself. Independent here. It’s becoming all to apparent that Republicans and McCain supporters are less informed, rely on slander and sleazy politics. They lie about taxes, about the war, about the economy. about just about everything. And this bit about Palin the Seccessionist and McCain the Keating five member trying to find fault with their oponent’s character is embarassing. America has had enough of Rovian politics, yee-hah folksy politicians, and turn-coats like McCain. Go back and see what McCain had to say when Bush slandered him to get nominated – or his previous views on abortion. Go ahead Republicans – do just a cursory amount of research and you’ll see how paper thin your candidates are. Bush/Cheney tactics got us into this mess – so why would we want these new clowns?

Hah, ex-Democrat/Hilary supporters for McCain my ass. Hasn’t everyone heard about Rush Limbaugh’s Operation Chaos? And that the leader of “PUMA” is a McCain supporter??
Just more sleazy attempts to blow the minute fraction of the electorate that is switching from Democratic -> Republican way out of proportion (to distract from the fact that the Republican party is LOSING members while the Democrats are registering hundreds of thousands).

Rovian smear-fear tactics aside, I find it hilarious that we’re supposed to believe that John McCain, who cheated on his crippled wife with model/heiress Cindy and Sarah Palin whose daughter is pregnant out of wedlock have better American values than Barack Obama, who has NEVER been Muslim, and who raised two daughters in a Protestant church while a committed relationship with his beautiful wife, Michelle.

Wasilla Wink Wink, otherwise known as Barbie Barracuda in certain arctic circles, invites herself to your Michigan kitchen table, prepared, absolutely prepared to help you solve your foremost problems. You betcha. (w) First, she tackles your loss of a job to overseas predators with the advice: you know he’s a muslim terrorist sympathizer, right? Then, your loss of health care insurance she promises that the maverick will tax your benefit but give you a $5000 family benefit to make up for your $12, 600 premium, and if that isn’t enough, “remember that he’s a muslim terrorist sympathizer.” She promises you things will get better if you just look forward, and give up all that backward looking, like at Bush’s record that John supported 90% of the time. Then she asks you to look at Barrack’s ties to an unconvicted member of the Weatherman Underground when Barrack was 8 years old. If she can keep your attention on the mud, you’ll probably forget all about those silly little things like the Iraq war and its $10 billion a month pricetag, medical care insurance for children foregone to protect the bottom line of tobacco companies or , oh golly gee, I guess it’s working, cause I’ve already forgotten.

If the last 7+ years of the disaster, called the Bush/Cheney administration, hasn’t given you your fill of Republicans, then I can only surmise that you’re in dire need of a brain transplant.
A patriot is someone who loves her/his country. Can anyone who is capable of taking an objective look at the actions of Bush/Cheney, and the Republicans in the house and senate who facilitated them in their reckless harm filled policies, actually say that these individuals are patriots? It will take many years to correct the damage they’ve done to our nation.

After Obama and Michelle take over the White House, and the govornment everything will change, a lot of people who is big supporters and will help to elect him, will be going under the bus, and some may even go to some labour camp.
He can not have anyone around him who will be even a slightest treat to his power. The total government picture will be different as we know it. But now he have to use every body he can to get elected.

McCain:
- mediocre 893 of 899, the Navy recognized it and never gave him any important command position
- married ex-wife of best friend, marriage breakup he probably provoked taking his friend out to party every day
- did his duty in the war and a POW as hundred others did, his POW stories do not have witnesses….
– McCain 42/Cindy 23, adulterous against a woman that had waited for him over 5 yrs just because she had her legs damaged in a car accident
- Maverick? it is just a “politically correct” word for reckless, erratic, unpredictable, lack of discipline etc…
- Pailing’s morale- she elope because she was pregnant, had an 8 month child
- Pailing? – acts very sexist, flirty (winky) to create a smoke screen to her ignorance and incoherence
- Pailing did not give money back to Alaskans because she was smart, it is dictated by their constitution in a state making a lot of money provided by mother nature not by an economy she created
- Pailing is antiUS, gave a speech in the convention of the Alska Separatist Party, that is treason against the constitution of this country
- Why is Obama not further ahead? Because of that 22% of old white conservatist (racist) americans that asserts they will never vote for a black person.

I say I am ‘for’ poor people but I am the most privileged of all Americans. I say I ‘understand’ their plight, but my wife spends $10,000 a year on our kids extracurricular activities .
I’ve never been IN the military but want to RUN the military.(Oh yeah and I HATE the military)
I am FOR hard work and success if its mine (actually America owes it to me,Ithink) but I am AGAINST hard work and success if its for others.
I am ever-PRESENT but too cowardly to cast votes.
I call the race card but play the race card.
I want to run the country and be your president.
I am Barack Hussein Obama.
No thanks Sen.Obama. We need someone who already has direction, experience, common sense, courage and leadership. We don’t care what color his skin is. We’re choosing VALUE over appearance.

It’s funny to read the talking points about 4 more years of bush – Gawd, are you all really still so peeved that Republicans “stole” the election in 2000?

his universal insurance plan calls for the individual to pay 11,500.00 a year and until you pay/reach that amount…
you PAY for it out of your pocket!
that does not include major medical !
his outline there is …
you pay the 11,500.00 per individual then you pay 10,000.00 per every 100,000.00 in services rendered.
also under his plan companies are no longer required to offer you insurance.

Good article in NRO online. Thank you Mr. Levin for reporting Obama the way it should be.
The Obama Fan-Dance Must End [Mark R. Levin]
As someone who has written critically of John McCain on a host of issues, including the Keating Five, none of it compares to the life that Barack Obama has led and his belief system. Obama is not merely associated with domestic terrorists, Palestinian radicals, Marxists, and black liberation ideologues — he was their favorite candidate. They groomed him. They befriended him. He befriended them. He socialized with them. In other words, these people saw Obama as representing their views and aspirations and he saw them the same way. I am not among those who raise Obama’s associations but add “of course, it doesn’t mean Obama shares their views.” Oh really? These miscreants include Obama’s former pastor, political mentors and allies, and friends. Obama attempts to downplay and distance himself from his own circle of allies now that he is running for president. But he is one of them. Obama is getting a pass that no other candidate in my memory has ever received.
The rest of the article in at NRO online.

…and 20,000+ bankers whose jobs are in jeopardy and 100,000+ people who have lost a manufacturing job in the past four years.
It’s the economy stupid…not Rush Limbaugh’s talking points.

This is a state truly in play. I wonder why South Carolina isn’t in much as play as North Carolina considering half of the voters in the former’s primary were African American.

Rural NC & SC whites are overwhelmingly conservative. The big difference between the two states are the large, fast-growing urban areas in NC…and most of the growth is from steel-belt and northeastern transplants who tend to lean Dem. With similar growth patterns emerging in SC areas like Greenville-Spartanburg, Columbia and Charleston, it won’t be long before SC politics starts to look a lot more like VA and NC.
On top of that…NC has always been a state with local governance typically controlled by Dems. There have only been two Rep Govs since 1900 and for the past 120 years, the Senate and usually the General Assembly has been controlled by Democrats. Compare with SC, where 4 of the past 6 Govs have been Rep and Reps have had control of the House since 1996 and the Senate since 2000

Barack Hussein Obama actively sought and received the stamp of approval of a Marxist third party that operated briefly in Chicago between 1992 and 1998.
The New Party was a Marxist political coalition whose objective was to endorse and elect leftist public officials — most often Democrats. The New Party’s short-term objective was to move the Democratic Party leftward, thereby setting the stage for the eventual rise of new Marxist third party.
Most New Party members hailed from the Democratic Socialists of America and the militant organization ACORN. The party’s Chicago chapter also included a large contingent from the Committees of Correspondence, a Marxist coalition of former Maoists, Trotskyists, and Communist Party USA members.

Excuse me but the Democrats are the ones who has had control, so don’t blame it on Bush or Republicans, Also I am a registered Democrat, but I will be voting for McCain & Palin, I can not vote for some whose vaules are so far from my beliefs, I truly feel that our country will be in a bad situation if Obama wins. He talks a good talk and walks the walk, but I am not that easily fooled.

National service forum at Columbia University
Obama calls for US military mobilization
By Patrick Martin
13 September 2008
In remarks that clearly pointed toward the restoration of the military draft under an Obama administration, the Democratic candidate said Thursday night that his job as president would include demanding that the American people recognize an “obligation” for military service. “If we are going into war, then all of us go, not just some,” Senator Barack Obama declared.
Obama’s comments came as he and his Republican opponent, Senator John McCain, took part in a forum on national service at Columbia University in New York City. Earlier in the day, both candidates joined in a memorial service at the site of the World Trade Center, commemorating the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
While “national service” encompasses more than the military, including such government-run programs as the Peace Corps, Americorps and Teach for America, as well as private and religious programs, both McCain and Obama focused on expanding the US Armed Forces as a major goal of the next administration, whether Democratic or Republican.
