Obama Shuns Press Conferences, Sits With ‘EXTRA’s’ Mario Lopez
On Oct. 24, 2007, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., said that as president he would hold regular press conferences and "not just call on my four favorite reporters." But the Democratic presidential nominee hasn’t held a full press conference — submitting himself to more than a handful of questions from his whole press corps — in more than a month, since Sept. 24, 2008, in Clearwater, Fla. The candidate often bemoans the media asking silly and superficial questions. The media isn’t focused on the important issues facing the nation, he complains. On Saturday in Nevada, Obama sat for an exclusive interview with Mario Lopez, the actor who played "A.C. Slater" on "Saved by the Bell," to air on the TV show "EXTRA." According to the promotional materials from "EXTRA," "Asked about the tragic news that (actress Jennifer) Hudson’s mother and brother were killed Friday in Chicago, Obama states, ‘Oh it was heartbreaking, in fact I’m still trying to get a phone number to call her at this tragic time. She is somebody who has campaigned for me, she also lives in my community. So, we’re really going to have to help her and pray for her and her family during this difficult time.’" One of the problems his press corps has in gaining access to the frontrunner is the fact that Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., whose life used to be a roving press availability, has cordoned himself off from the media except in drips and drabs. Earlier this year, many in the media thought McCain’s reputation for access and openness would force Obama to follow suit; instead the opposite dynamic has played out as Obama’s campaign justifies Obama’s refusal to take questions by pointing to his far less accessible rival. — jpt

Good for him. Unless or until the MSM stops asking stupid and superficial “gotcha” questions as if they are “Extra”, Obama should just skip the fake “fake media” and go straight for the real thing.
It’s a shame that there is more “journalism” being done on blogs and infotainment television program.

I actually think Obama absolutely should be giving more press conferences. I just hope that, if he’s elected, he actually becomes open and accessible — it would help him sell his policies and it’s America’s right to hear their leaders. The one rationale for staying away from the press during this highly competitive time is that the press — c’mon Jake, you have to admit it — jumps on and parses every single little thing that’s said and blows it up into this huge deal. One mistake talking to the press and you guys go all ####### on the candidates. Can you blame them if they’re a little hesisitant at this high-pressure juncture?

For Pete’s sake.
When Sarah Palin sits down for This Week, Meet the Press, or a rootin tootin press conference, then press availability is a real topic.
She’s still got a bunch to answer for:
her bio (what was up with all those colleges)
her blessing by a witch-hunter
about 15-20 blatant lies about any number of things, including her abuse of power scandal
why she thinks abortion clinic bombers aren’t domestic terrorists, and that she merely “wouldn’t condone” their actions….!
Where’s the beef on all that?

Obama cannot give a press conference because he would have to tell the truth = but his day is coming – he is so arrogant that people simply do not see through him. What a real shame for this country. You simply cannot deal with arrogance and stupidity at the same time – they do not go together.

…NOT thinking:
“Why would he want to talk about such ridiculous things?”
Because whether or not he wants to discuss them, these issues NEED tobe addressed!
They are cogent concerns to anyone who puts country before color or party!
Tampering with voter registration is NOT a “non-issue”
Obama’s involvement with Ayers is NOT a “non-issue” nor is it a passing meeting in the night!
Taking money from Rezko intended to heat the broken down tenements owned by the slum lord…. is NOT a “non-issue”!
Providing a $200,000 annual raise for Michelle by promising her employer a new pavillion among other expensive perks, is Not a “non-issue”!
Socialism is BIG on the issues in which Obama has expressed a serious interest.
And the amount of money being squandered to keep Obama’s big ears and preachery voice annoyingly in the limelight…. even though “donated” by followers (albeit on both sides of the ocean)… is ethically questionable during this economic slump.
Certainly, it would have been more “presidential” of him to have gifted some of that enormous sum to the empty food banks with a “compliments of Obama” note.

I certainly don’t recall seeing any “fluff” there, or is it the fact that he did the interview with Klein and not you?
As for the traveling press corps, is this the same press corps that had gripes earlier this summer when BHO failed to let you guys follow him and create a media circus out of his private meeting with Hillary? If so, you lost your credibility as soon as you guys sent your “sternly worded letter” telling the campaign never to do that again.

To all that is pushing the button because of race or gender–you need to know that facts. Small businesses will cut back when their payroll taxes are more. So when you go out to your favorite restaraunt– do not fuss about the long wait or the prices going up. Do not worry about plants cutting back– all the real jobs will have to do as much cutting back as anyone. Even the ones waiting on that 1 stimulus check will hurt. Because the people that are dead beats and borrow from the workers in their family will have less money to borrow. think before you pick. You might party for a day or two– but life goes on. can you handle a govererment like china or russia??

Can we get off the “there are still questions to be asked about Barack Obama?” Every single question that is STILL being asked has either been answered specifically by the candidate or an independent investigative report. You people are brainwashed. You so desperately need a reason to vote for McCain and his sidekick that you just follow right along like lemmings. The McCain talking points are not trying to get answers. They have the answers and know there is nothing there. McCain and Palin continually ask that question to raise doubt in your feeble little minds. Ask yourself… If there was something there, don’t you think someone from the McCain campain would have come forward with the “proof?” Take a step back and reason a bit. The right wing tells you that the press is not to be believed because it is biased to the liberals. They then give you Fox news and their blogs and their radio shows to give you the “true” story. Does no one find this a little suspect?

I don’t know if Klein is in “love” with Obama or not, but to deny that the interview was substantive is silly, especially in comparison to an Access Hollywood interview with Mario Lopez. Klein also pushed Obama to talk more about his meeting with Petraues, which I have yet to see anyone else ask him about (except Charlie Gibson after the meeting), so I was interested to hear more about it.
Also, I agree. Obama did discuss his goals as President, and I am sure that if he is elected he won’t be able to do everything on his agenda–but please name me a politician that has been elected President and was able to fulfill all of their campaign promises. And I guess I would take this criticism of Obama’s campaign promises a little bit more seriously if someone could ask McCain why, if he knows how to catch Bin Laden, as he says he does, he has yet to fill in the administration on that little secret. Or maybe, how exactly he is going to balance the budget by the end of his first term–a herculean effort to say the least.

Obama Campaign Cuts Off Interviews With Florida TV Station
Barack Obama’s campaign killed all interviews with a Florida TV station after Sen. Joe Biden, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, faced tough and critical questions from a reporter at the Orlando station, the Orlando Sentinel reported .
During a satellite video Thursday, WFTV’s Barbara West quoted Karl Marx and asked Biden how Obama’s comment to “Joe the Plumber,” about spreading the wealth wasn’t being Marxist.
“Are you joking?,” Biden asked.
West replied, “No.”
Later in the interview West questioned Biden about his comments that if Obama wins the election next month, he would be tested early on as president and wanted to know if Biden was implying America was no longer the world’s leading power.
“I don’t know who’s writing your questions,” Biden asked her.
The Obama camp then killed a WFTV interview with Biden’s wife Jill, according to an Orlando Sentinel blog.
“This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election,” wrote Laura K. McGinnis, Central Florida communications director for the Obama campaign, according to the Sentinel.
Seems to be his new campaign stratagy as all his lies are being exposed

Obama campaign recently canceled all interviews with FOX news, because Biden was asked real and tough questions.
So, why will we trust Obama that he said he will open press?
Oh, he will only open to the press who praises him?
To envision a person’s future, just look at his history first.
“But the Democratic presidential nominee hasn’t held a full press conference — submitting himself to more than a handful of questions from his whole press corps — in more than a month, since Sept. 24, 2008, in Clearwater, Fla.”
Reminder, as NATO committee chair, Obama hasn’t held any single hearing, he said he was in campaign. So, he can not multi-task.
Jake Tapper, you wrote a really good article here.
We should continue advocating media fairness. History will remember who is fair, who misleads voters.
We don’t want to elect a Jimmy Carter 2. In 1976, Jimmy Carter claimed ‘change, hope’, exactly like Obama. He won, then under his administration, Dem. holds mojority of Congress, 70% I guess. Those were terrible years. Carter was cool, the same as Obama. Please don’t tell me coolness is better. During Carter years, the inflation and unemployment was high, Carter was cool, he could not offer quick, sound, detailed solution. Carter’s approval rate was below 25%, lower than Nixon.
We don’t want to make the same mistakes again.
McCain has life time record here, inclduing his medical record, and his mother is 96 still healthy, we should not worry about his health.

Mr. Tapper, You have a good point – but it would have been fair game to talk about both candidates. First, when was John McCain’s latest press conference? September 23rd? One day befre Obama’s last PC? In that press conference, McCain took 4 questions. I read the transcripts. Quite a press conference. Has he held more than one as the RP nominee? The last one before 9/23 was 6 weeks earlier. What about Sarah Palin’? Has Sarah Palin held even one real press conference?
They do sometimes show up in the MSM. I saw John McCaiin on Meet the Press and he dissed Colin Powell’s endorsement of Obama by saying that he had 5 Secretary of State recommendations. But he could not REMEMBER the names of all of the Secretaries of State. There are only FIVE names and these were men McCain presumably knew. Second, I just don’t recall Sarah standing before the press – I have, however, heard her interview with the Christian Broadcasting System. I’m a Christian – but this is ridiculous. The Christian Broadcasting System? She talked about what she understood the Republican platform to be. Either she doesn’t know what a platform is, or she has not read the Republican platform.
But anybody who could believe that God is busy working for oil pipelines can believe anything: Sarah Palin: “I think God’s will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas pipeline built. So pray for that … ” Funny, I was taught that God asked us to help the needy, the hungry, the sick, the cast-outs – not Canadian corporations. I also thought that when government bids went out for $30 billion projects, usually more than one bid came in. Not in Sarah’s case. $30 billion pipeline. One bid. Yet another thing that’s just not quite right with the Palin administration. No wonder she doesn’t give press confrences.

Of the 4 candidates, Obama is the ONLY one who has refused to reveal his medial records.
As with all other issues in Obama’s life that he continues to be secretive and disingenous about, such as his health, his illionis senate records, his birth certificate, his dealing with Ayers, rezko, and acorn, what is he trying to hide?
the media and the public are criticized for asking even the slightest difficult question to the obama campaign. they got in a tiff over some very fair questiosn to Biden in florida. Palin takes tough questions all the time, and now Biden, the big cry baby, takes some hard questions, and now the Obama campaigns BANS press access? Obama has used this tactic in Missouri, to suppress freedom of speech, as well as Chicago, when Kurtz was giving a radio interview.
And then Joe the Plumber as the candidate questions, and is savaged by the campaign and the media. Joe’s guilt? For simply existing.
Obama’s rise to power is exactly the same as Hitler’s. Either you exult him him, or if you are negative of him, you suddenly are guilty, or, disappear.
What will happen to our country when we can’t even criticize our candidates, or President? What kind of power are we giving this man, who we know very little about, even after all this time?
Be afraid, be very afraid.

I’m sure when Obama’s plans become clear, and they want to squawk about them….and won’t be allowed to, then they’ll want our pity.

If Obama wants more serious questions, there’s a news station in Orlando that I’m sure would be happy to accomodate him.
And Mara, I suppose you’ve never had a moment in your life when you’ve blanked on a name, only to remember it a few seconds later. Another example of the extreme pettiness of the left.

“Small businesses will cut back when their payroll taxes are more.”
This has already started happening. Money is getting tight. My husband is a sole proprietor and his clients are not able to pay, therefore, we are hurting. The IRS is breathing down his neck every week for their money. My friend’s husband owns two businesses. He’s already laid off 4 people and cut back on the hours his employees work at his other business. If his taxes go up, one business will definitely close and the other will have more layoffs. When businesses have to pay more in taxes, they will have to raise prices and cut employees. That’s the way business works. If Obama is elected, get ready to pay a lot more for everything from groceries, to gas, to clothing. Higher taxes just mean they will pass that cost on to you, the consumer.

Miki, MIki, Miki…. are you serious? (as Joe Biden said to the interviewer who wound up on the Obama team crap list)
The fact that Obama has been on the campaign trail for over a year and has had to answer questions in the past is not an appropriate excuse for why he is not available to the press now. YOu wrote: “Are you kidding me? Obama has been in the press for almost a year. Given countless interviews and debates. What is the press whinning about?” Whining? the press is whining? Seriously? I don’t count the countless interviews with the fawning interviewers of People, QG, Extra, and the Ellen show. Obama has actually done very few long-form, serious interviews in his career and he has certainly not done any in recent months, when it really counts. The debates? Constant retreads of the same darn questions. The only time I really thought the candidates were challenged with original questions in an original way was the pastor’s interviews at Saddleback (?— was that the name). I would have loved to see more like that.
Then you went on to write: ” How many hard hitting interviews has Palin given? ” Well, that argument is getting tired. Don’t compare Obama to Palin, compare him to the gentleman competing with him to be president– John McCain. And Tapper mentioned that McCain has been less accessible than one would want. But he was on Meet the Press today and he does do more press, it seems to me, than Obama. And lately Palin has been, as noted here and elsewhere, the most accessible of the four candidates.
Then, most laughably, you wrote: “And I’d say he’s been a little busy lately campaigning. He’s answered the hard hitting questions repeatedly. Where has the press been?”
He’s been busy campaigning? Lady, what the heck do you think is involved in running for president? Don’t you think giving honest answers to honest questions from the press is an important component? I surely do. And no, he has not answered “hard hitting questions repeatedly.” he has answered softball questions occasionally.
big issues have dominated the campaign in recent weeks and I would like to hear Obama address them in a press conference or interview. You know, questions like, “You tried to walk back Biden’s statement about enemies created an international incident early in your administration, should there be on. But clearly he was referring specifically to challenges to you as an inexperienced, charismatic politician, NOT to generic challenges to anyone elected president. What was he talking about? Was he referencing discussions you have had based on security briefings? Why should we believe him when he says you are ready, when he has previously, prior to being your running mate, assured us you were not ready to lead?” And then I’d like to ask “Your energy policy seems to change with the wind. I know you support alternative energy. But what is your position this week on nuclear energy, and why has it changed from your earlier statements, if it has? What is your position on off-shore drilling? Why have you softened from your earlier absolutely NO to such drilling?” And then I’d like to ask, “Why did your campaign not utilize standard security protocol for your online fundraising? Was it incompetence or fraud that you have collected so much of your funding from suspicious or bogus sources? How can we trust that people are not skirting financial rules by using the lax oversight of the online contributions? How do you justify spending such massive amounts of money on the campaign in a time of economic hardship? How do you respond to suggestions that you are buying an election with your massive monetary advantage?” Then I’d like to ask him, “You misrepresented the situation surrounding the Columbian trade agreement in a recent debate. can we revisit your position on free trade agreements? Do you stand by your statements about the Columbia deal? Do you still plan to “revise” the NAFTA treaty, or was Goolsbee correct when he assured the Canadians that was all just campaign rhetoric?” I could go on and on. Obama has not been seriously questions about abortion rights, his numerous flip flops from this summer as he transitions from running to the left to get the nomination to running to the center to try to win the general election, his energy policy, Russia, China, South America, etc. etc. etc.

It is true that the media has itself to blame by acting like vacuous airheads throughout this election. I can see why any candidate would want to avoid you guys. If Obama and McCain get away with press dodging, it is only because the press let them get away with it. Why is it the press would rather report the story that Obama hasn’t had a press in avail in months, rather than report their successful attempt to nab an interview with the presidential candidates? Could it be that the press are afraid to make waves with Obama now lest they be banished by Obama in the future? It used to be the MSM who controlled the candidates. Today it is the candidates who are controlling the MSM. Pathetic.

Chrispy Oct 26, 2008 11:34:14 PM:
Alaska owns the oil; the oil companies just produce it from leased state lands. Each party gets whatever it can wrangle from the production agreement.
The oil companies got hammered when Gov. Palin forced the revenue negotiations out of the back room and into the light, but the oil companies still took the deal.
It is not socialism for the landowners (the people of Alaska) to get paid for the resources that they sell.

I think we’re wasting our time trying to convince folks that Obama is the Pied Piper of Hamlin. He’s already played his horn and the people are following him into Socialism. It’s sad that such a great country should be torn apart by a man who loves himself more than the country that gave him opportunities,he’d never have gotten elsewhere. The press died this year and I say good riddance. It’s been years since you could believe a thing they said. Just wait till his majesty tells them to kiss off, they’ll be crying stinking fish. What bothers me is knowing that our sources of information, blogs, talk radio, anyone who dares speaks against Obama polices, will be silenced just like they did when Biden was interviewed. Has anyone thought about how we’ll get candidates elected next time. Every time our side says anything they’ll be shouted down as a racist or a fear monger or worse. They are stealing this election and their not even in power yet. Wait till they have all three branches. Palosi will rewrite the rules in the house and Reid will do the same in the Senate. God, I fear for this country. I never thought I’d say this but I’m beginning to really dislike Dem. They’re like lemmings following blindly behind the guy giving handouts. I’m also beginning to dislike the rats that are leaving our ship. I voted for Bush twice, and I hate to say it but I believe he’s to blame for much of our parties troubles. He could easily have vetoed spending bills, he could have gone to the country and shouted about the housing problems he saw coming and he could have choosen a rep. instead of Paulson to be in charge of our finance’s. It does seem strange that all this fell apart just when it did. I mean for seven years everything was fine. Then bang, one month out and all hell breaks lose. There’s more going on here than meets the eye. One last thing. Where is the justice dept. concerning all this voter fraud that’s going on. The rep. in congress sent a letter to the Pres. asking him to tell the justice dept to look into it, but he’s done nothing. To hell(sorry about that) with looking presidental. Look like you care. You’re still being paid by us. Okay, I’ll get off my soap box. Thanks for listening.

Where was the press as Obama’s patriotism and character were being pelted with tinges of terrorism and other innuendoes from the McCain camp? As far as I remember, it was only FactCheck.Org that dared to refute anything while they snowballed and inflamed under the auspices of the rest of the Media. It’s only the press that can turn a simple and innocent utterance into a phenomenal gaffe.
It was the press that made an issue of the “bitter” comment, even though it was clear the comment could only have been made out of empathy and feeling, rather than the spite it was spun to portray; or, take Michelle’s “proud of my country” or “spread the wealth” etc.
If I were Obama, I too would be wary of the story-prospecting press, especially, with the finish-line dead ahead and the trophy in my sights.

Could someone tell me why we always hear about BIG OIL, BIG BUSINESS, blah, blah, blah, but never BIG GOVERNMENT? When has anything they’ve ever run been successful? Aren’t they always raising taxes to pay for programs that never worked in the first place. And aren’t they always telling us they need pay raises. How are they any different from the must maligned company executives. Don’t they get golden parachutes, like life long medical, retirement after only one term in office. Don’t the fly all over the world on first class junkets to play golf with lobbyist? And what makes them an expert on anything? Did Barney Frank who got us into this Fannie Mae mess, have a degree in finance? Did Chris Dodd, who got a sweetheart deal on his house have a degree in Real Estate? So how come we listen to them. I think it’s go to Washington, sit in the Congress and become a genius. Wow. Maybe the worse BIG is government itself.

I saw the interview of Joe Biden and it was so obvious that this woman had just received her talking points from Fox News. It was really laughable and Biden really put the woman in her place. She was spouting one lie after another and he was giving it right back to her. If Senator Obama decides this station is off limits for them – good. Asked about the right wing bull crap lies is not something the Obama-Biden has time to waste on. They are too busy doing what it takes to win votes and voters. I do believe that all you Bush voters should have to face some hard questions about why you were so dumb when after his first term it was obvious to anyone paying attention that his administration was going for all the policies that would wreak America financially and every other way. Backing this incompetent Bush and his satanic vice president and Karl Rove just allowed them to continue their merry way of bankrupting the country.

Honestly– It is really frightening to read some of the misinformed and ignorant drivel posted on this website. Instead of blathering on like a bunch of trained parrots, try looking things up and checking the facts. An uneducated voter is a dangerous voter. This crap about Obama’s citizenship has been debunked 1,000 times. Every fact checking organization there is has said it is an urban legend. You’re entitled to your own opinions, not your own facts. The so- called voter fraud is really registration fraud. Obama is not using ACORN to register his voters, due to the MASSIVE size of his own grassroots volunteer organization.ACORN itself was not the perpetrator of the fraud. Certain volunteers were. ACORN was the one who notified the authorities of the irregularities in the registrations in the first place. None of the false registrations will translate to a vote, because nobody named Mickey Mouse is going to show up at the polls with a valid ID to vote. Speaking of voter fraud, McCain paid $175,000.00 to Nathan Sproul, of Nathan Sproul and Associates, to do voter registrations for his campaign. One problem: Sproul has been investigated for voter fraud in several states four years ago. The GOP hired Young Political Majors to do some voter registration as well. The group’s president, Mark Jacoby, was just arrested in California for voter registration fraud. People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones! Now onto Socialism. For those of you who like to throw around words without knowing what they mean, Socialism is when a government takes over a private industry, like when President Bush bailed out Wall Street and partially federalized banks to keep them from failing. THAT is Socialism. Changing a tax policy does not qualify. But just to humor some of you, I’ll play along. If Obama ends the Bush tax cuts for the rich, and that makes him a Socialist, then McCain must be a former Socialist. He opposed the Bush tax cuts in 2000, saying they were unfairly tilted to benefit the rich. He only changed his mind when he decided to run for president, so that makes him a hypocrite as well. Reality– what a concept, huh?

Nothing will change with the press if he’s elected because they’re tools now and will be tools then. Only then they will be tools because of new laws passed to make propaganda the “norm.”
Will the media have my sympathy? Pleeeze. . .
Be prepared to kiss “freedom of the press” and the U.S. Constitution goodbye.
It’s ironic that the media will have destroyed that which stood between them and destruction.
I hope voters wise up before it’s too late to save themselves.

Palin has more press avails now than any other candidate. Nobody notices because she’s not busy gaffeing like Biden, or answering important questions like Obama.

I can easily ignore the host of other reasons why I would NEVER vote for Obama… Out of his own mouth for the whole world to hear, came the words, “…spreading the wealth…”
The ONLY people foolish enough to vote for this guy are ones that think it’s moral (it’s not) for someone to take by force, the legitimate fruits of one man’s labor and give it to another.
I asked my 12 year old son a hypothetical question; “Son, let’s imagine you and your buddy Michael both operate a lemonade stand one Saturday. You’re on one side of the street and he’s on the other. During the day, you stayed at your lemonade stand while John went inside to watch TV when it got hot out… so at the end of the day, you made twice as much money from your lemonade stand as did Michael. Now son, what what you say if I came to you and said, “Great job! You know, you made lots more than John, so I’m going to take some of your money and give it to him to be fair.” My son, without an instant’s hesitation exclaimed, “No freaking way you’re taking my money dad. I EARNED it. I stayed and worked while John went inside and played when it got hot. And besides, I make great lemonade”
It’s remarkable that a 12 year old has an innate understanding of the immorality of “sharing the wealth” when so many of you free loader mentality types don’t? I guess that’s really the answer isn’t it… you’ve adopted as your mantra, “from those according to their ability to those according to their needs.” Except I think there’s more … for today’s modern freeloader, it’s not about need, it’s about envy and the desire to possess what hasn’t been earned.
A is A. You cannot avoid the consequences of your choices and though I’m not enthusiastic about the alternative, if this country elects Obama, we will all pay a heavy price.
It’s sort of like choosing between a broken leg and terminal cancer.

Marc A…get your facts straight!
duh, you are an American, now are’nt you? Are you aware that there are, what 5 different tax brackets? The current tax brackets in place tax YOU AND ME, AND YOUR SON TO BE, based on our income…
GEE, nothing has changed… unless your son becomes a licensed LEMONADE dealer…making $250,000 OR MORE!!! Obama wants to give tax breaks to 95% of Americans.
Hmmmmm….You, like most, are taking this out of context! The system ALREADY taxes based on income…so your THEORY IS WRONG! – it has been happening probably since YOU or ME were born!
Now that you are aware, still want to be an American and pay taxes based on what you earn at one of the 5 tax levels??? If not, move out of the USA and find another country that taxes differently and more equitably…

Let’s see if we get this straight. The guy apparently knew no one in Chicago who wasn’t a crook (Rezko, Giannoulises) or a crackpot (Ayers, Wright.) He’s never won a contested election. He hasn’t been asked more than two halfway difficult questions by the press all campaign season, yet he whines about being asked ‘unimportant’ questions? This clown should be thrown out on his backside for sheer unjustified arrogance.

The top 5% of income earners CURRENTLY pay more than HALF of all income tax proceeds.
Tax them even more, and you’ll be hurting yourself far more than them.
There go millions MORE jobs! Nice tax cut you’ll be voting for yourself under Obama. No job, no income = no income taxes!

When Bill Clinton ran in 92′ he was called all the names Obama is currently being labeled with..Communists, Socialist, Liberal etc…Bill Clinton balanced the budget and left us with a surplus..enough said…George W will leave us with a huge deficit! Are you proud Republicans? You should be ashamed! Yet you want us to vote for a man who supported George W 90% of the time..and hope that he would be much different..Obama is closer to Bill Clinton in economic policy..McCain is closer to George Bush in economic policy..go figure! What is your point Jake? Until you guys beginning to report the facts and pull back from recounting fantasies and tall tales I would cordon you off too. You do not seem to understand or you are willfully ignoring the fact that you in the press have contributed, in proportion, most negatively to both campaigns. You never seem to hesitate to indulge in the most trivial aspects of what is going on — celebrity, presumptuousness, too thin to be president, and on and on and on. Yes, I read all this in the press, including the “serious” ones.

I believe the country is essentially conservative and capitalist, and will remain so. Wealth, which most Americans strive to create, has never been generated through handouts to the bottom tier.
My guess is that fully 20% of the Obama vote is not related to his redistributive philosophy, but more to a “throw the bums out” attitude. About 30% of voters are hard core liberals who would vote for a mummy.
Obama, if elected, and if he presses as radically left as his background suggests, will quickly become more reviled than even George Bush. The press of course will give him a very long holiday, but at two years, the Republicans will stage a significant comeback.

We see enough of this lying SOB in his political commercials all ready! The reason, he doesn’t appear on TV and give interviews, is that he is worried, that eventually Hollywood and all the rich people in America will soon realize, his goal of redistributing wealth includes Barbara Streisand’s millions of dollars. But knowing this SOB, he will somehow give tax breaks to the rich, and like it has been for years, the average tax payer will wind up funding the government. If he is really serious, then let’s see him, give up his lavish $5.4M mansion in Chicago and the millions he has in personal wealth! Yeah, like that’s going to happen! Don’t you fools realize, that if it wasn’t for the illegal activities he has condoned to include contribution fraud, i.e., Mickey Mouse, etc., he would be trustworthy. In addition, I hope you know, that under the law, all campaign contributions he has received becomes his personal wealth, win or lose, after all his debts are paid off! So between the stupid Americans who believe in his lies and the Muslims funding him, with millions over the internet, they will have made him extremely wealthy, and under his Socialistic statements of sharing the wealth, how much of his millions do you think, you will get? I will tell you nada, zilch, zero! McCain will ensure fairness to all, this fool Hussein Obama is only out to enrich himself by scamming and conning many. For all those who worked hard to earn the American dream, wake up, the dream is over, and Markist views and a communistic American under Hussein Obama is enroute, if you don’t open your eyes. And if you are fortunate enough to earn more than $250,000 a year, as he does, do you think for one moment, he is going to give up his funds? Look at how little he has contributed to charity! As opposed to McCain and his wife, who give hundreds of thousands to charities and set up charitable causes to help Americans, while he hates the White people and wants retribution paid to Blacks. Even though, the Black people know little about history, it was the Republican President Abraham Lincoln, who fought the rich Democratic land holders in the south and the rich shipping executives in the northeast to keep profiting from the black slaves, sold into slavery by their own black leaders.

Truth is, Barry Hussein Obama is not only a fake and a fraud, he is far worse than that. He is a Marxist radical and an Islamic sympathizer, if not more. He uses typical socialist dictator style (a la Hugo Chavez) tactics: suppress his enemies, his critics and his competition, uses thugs lawyers and others to intimidate, and threatens and muzzles the press. He hides and disguises his past because, if the truth were known, even some far left Democrats (which most are these days) wouldn’t be able to support him in public. He certainly wants to take every dime he can get from every productive and successful US citizen. You know that Barry and the Dems will take away your guns and pack the courts with liberal justices that will play politics instead of interpreting the law.
This is your last chance to say no to the downward slide towards liberal socialism and the downfall of America. Unfortunately, the next stop may be bloodshed. Americans will not tolerate having their money, their property, and their freedom stolen in the name of Democrat “fairness”!!!
What a shame that the Democrat Party and the media refuse to investigate and expose him. Do they really want the US to become another third world socialist dictatorship?

With the exception of those 30 minute canned stump speeches, Barry’s hiding from the public media eye. He and his campaign knows the lid has come off the can of worms known as Obama from Chicago. Well after reading these interesting comments, some for Obama some, for McCain, as an undecided voter, I would have to say it is now clear to me that a vote for Obama is a vote for the death of our free country. How did we get here. Putting one man on a pedestal, idolizing him, not caring about what this country stands for, giving up on the principles that have made this country great. I feel like we are voluntarily walking to our own death.
It is true I was one of those undecided(I voted for Kerry in 04) voters, up until this moment.
I’m still not sure about McCain but after reading the hostility that is coming from Obama supporters, believing that the media should be punished if they don’t ask the questions Obama would like to answer, I can’t be a part of the side that believes government is the be all and end all of our society.
As of today the polls can take one more undecided vote out of that 10% and put it in the McCain column.
I’m voting for McCain!

If John MCCain has stayed away from the media, it is because the media is always in “attack mode” with him and Goernor Palin. They admit they are attack mode and unfair. No matter what the question, no matter what the answer, they make the answer wrong.
As for Obama, he knows nothing, has nothing to say and is terrified that here in the final days people will figure him out, he will slip up and say the wrong thing. So far, Biden is the one telling the entire story and what a story it is. Then , when he gets the same treatment as Sarah Palin, they cry, take their interviews and go home. What a bundh of whimps and babies.
I would also like to say, that I feel for Jennfife Hudson, but, she is not the only person in this country suffering from some horrible incident and it worries me that my future President (maybe) would spend so much time worrying over one person, someone from his home town, that campaigned for him. I do believe there are more important matters at hand.
Anyone that puts this man in office is a fool.

Stick a fork in Obama, ’cause he’s done. Between the “redistribution” tape that’s just surfaced, the inability to put an end to the birth certificate question by simply producing a CERTIFIED copy with a raised seal from the State of Hawaii, the punishment of a TV station whose reporter dared to ask some tough questions, etc., it’s clear an Obama administration would practice suppression, obfuscation and plain ol’ deceit. We’ve seen that movie before, and don’t want a repeat showing. Fortunately, these revelations are occurring with just enough time to enable the American public to finally catch a glimpse of the real Obama before election day, despite the attempts of the MSM to avoid any close scrutiny.

He’s afraid of questions because he knows the answers will scare the American people. Tax cuts for 95%…has he said out loud that he plans to let the Bush tax cuts lapse, which he does. He might not consider that as raising taxes, but it will raise the taxes of everyone, even the little guy making $50,000 or less will pay about $1500 more per year. That’s sure going to help us in the middle of a recession. Mr. Average Joe forking over an extra 100 or more per month once Obama lets the Bush tax cuts lapse.
A vote for Obama is a vote for a further deepening of our financial crisis!

Very analogous to the stock market, we’ve had “frenzied buying” of stock in Obama, Inc. up until now. I believe that now we’re going to start to see “frenzied selling” of that stock, as these recent revelations are absorbed by undecided voters. The poll numbers could turn around in a hurry…and without enough time for Obama to stop the run on the Obama bank.

Since when are we supposed to vote based on what some European and socialist countries think? Of course they are excited about Obama. They know better than Obama’s supporters what an Obama presidency will do to this country—weaken us from the inside. And that’s what the world is excited about. They don’t want us to be a leader or a super power.
And I say “some” European countries because most of Eastern Europe is terrified of Obama becoming President. And what do those countries have in common with each other? They have all lived under Communist and Socialist rule.

TxBob, World News Daily (WND) has already physically SEEN Obama’s birth certificate, touched it, and reported it LEGAL from Hawaii (I’m sure your free Google service still works). You really do need to keep up with your own right wing nut job sites to have any credibility posting someplace more mainstream as here. Have a nice day!

This forum is as false as the news media’s questions being put to Obama. As if the people at ABC or any of the news media read any of these commments, let alone act on them. A bromide for the uniformed masses.

No press conferences indicates he has won this in his mind and has too much to lose exposing himself in this way. He might have trouble answering questions about his previous statements favoring redistribution of American “wealth”. We are one week away from MAJOR change and most people in this country have no idea what actually is going to happen. Shame on us. Shame on those who call themselves reporters who have not reported what this candidate actually thinks about “redistributing” wealth. We have a right to have these questions asked of him.

The fawning adoring press will never make an issue of anything the evil Obama does or doesn’t do. Just wait to see all the excuses the MSM makes once president obama employees the full power of the government to suppress political expression. Personality cult political leaders are tremendously dangerous.

Barack and Biden announced that they will sit down and talk unconditionally with the leaders of Iran and North Korea. But, a somehow the thought of speaking to a small market TV host is more frightening. What a bunch of wimps. All Hail Comrade Obama and his political commissars – ABC News.

If Obama does not become our president, We will go into nuclear war within three months.
Whatever mild negatives you may have with Obama, he is not a crazy hawk. 1,250,000 men, women, and children have died in Iraq to save them from a ruler who gassed his own people and killed 50,000 with the chemicals our CIA sold him to exactly do that. (Setup)
20 times more people have died with no end in site of haliburton and whackenhut becoming filthey rich off peoples sufferings.
Throw the bums out, please. Give us 4 years of peace.

As an undecided voter, I am voting for Obama. If this board is any indication of the backers of McCain, then I feel sad for the Republican party. At least the democrats have reasons not to vote for McCain (who by the way was born outside the US – not that that matters, if anyone would bother to look up court decisions, the courts have already ruled that a ‘natural born citizen’ applies to anyone born to an american citizen whether in the US or not – but I am sure that this concept is over the heads of 99% of the responders). Still, I do feel sorry for the republican party – they used to have integrity.

Did you notice the dozens of stories about how Sarah Palin wasn’t giving interviews just days after her announcement? Now both Obama and Joe Biden have avoided the media for a MONTH BEFORE THE ELECTION…and the only place that wants to cover this story is a blog?!? No offense, Jake, but the fact that your column is entitled a “blog” takes away both credibility and accountability.
Biden and Obama’s ducking of the media should be front page material, just as it was with Palin…but more so!

As an Illinois resident, I am not a McCain supporter or a Republican. I am voting for John McCain.
I have seen first hand how the promises of a campaign quickly disappear when the victory is won and he actually resorts to his liberal antics and pay for play system that is a trademark of Chicago and Illinois!
As a U.S. citizen, I am very concerned about our country when a president has received so much money to run a campaign and will spend 4 x’s more than his opponent. Especially when O’Bama promised not to abide to spending limits as long as his opponent did.
McCain is the lesser of the two evils!

A marriage made in heaven. Our mainstream meda and the Obama campaign. They attack and smear a citizen for asking a tough question that Obama answered in a truthful way. Then they blacklist a station and reporter who asks a tough question that apparently many voters in Florida wanted answered but Obama doesn’t want to even be asked. Then he runs to do an interview with Mario Lopez and discuss celebrity tragedies?
Wake up sheeple. The press has not only given the Obama campaign a pass, have not only been actively cheerleading for him, not only allowing him and his campaign to get away with these thug tactics against people who dare question him. In fact, our wonderfful press are actually doing some of the dirty work for him.
His campaign has been trying to silence any dissent all day long. Does the press think that because they adore him and cater to his every whim, he won’t do the same to them if he becomes president?
Hmmmm. Ask the other woman who marries the cheating husband how that usually works out.
Careful what you wish for. You might get it.

There are so many things that make Obama unqualified and dangerous to be president, that if he were white, or if he were Republican, would be under tremendous condemnation by the media, that even the youth vote would get the message and Obama wouldn’t even come close to getting elected. Obama appeals to the ‘takers’, uninformed and those entralled by rock-star imagery.

We have a choice between an unapologetic Marxist, someone no-one denies is far left, and a boring centrist. a choice between one who wants to take from those who work and produce and give to those who are the leeches of society, and one who believes you are best at deciding how your extra money is donated. When you are broke, do you go on a spending spree? Please Google “Cloward-Piven Strategy” if you want to really understand want is about to go horribly wrong in America. I don’t even like McCain, but it’s vote McCain a hundred times over, rather than “The One” who has dedicated his life to the down-fall of America and subsequent rise of a Soviet-style utopia. George Soros has committed four billion dollars to BHO’s campaign, any more questions?

Who cares if Obama holds press interviews – he would only continue his manipulation of the truth over and over again, his agenda creating class distinction over and over again.
His $200k-$250k is something unheard of in our political history and has been calculated to hit his voter base at the “envy” level. In fact that is Obama’s starting point – see Drudge Oct 27th – distribution of wealth is a long held conviction and Obama intends to focus on any issues not addressed previously by the Civil Rights Movement in this country. Taking care of his base – by using the Courts or the Legislative branch of government – any way possible.
Obama’s message is Wright’s message – cleaned up a bit but the ideology is the same.
AMERICA WAKE UP – for God’s sake – realize Barack Obama is a candidate with his own agenda and it is not one that is good for this country.
John McCain is the only candidate qualified to take on the issues that face our country – domestically and internationally.
For all of us “we the people” for our businesses large and small – for our desire to clean out Washington DC, to put a freeze on spending until McCain can analyze our expenses – for the sake of our country – McCain/Palin 2008!!!

Obama says he wants to “grow the economy from the bottom up”. That is the stupidest thing I ever heard…HOW?
By taking from the folks who actually produce jobs NOW and giving their money to slugs who will simply waste it?
Does this fool actually think some un-educated welfare recipient who has been living off of US for generations is suddenly going to become a responsible person and start a business?
This clown is a liar and his associations and his own words damn him for the communist that he is.
His own words about “standing with the muslims” condemn him as unfit to be POTUS…he will destroy this great country if we are stupid enough to elect him…wake up folks, this guy is DANGEROUS to your children’s lives, we WILL be attacked again if he is elected, his own running mate says so.

The world has been silly enough to line up behind Obama. It has been a global market trader’s dream. As we price in the near term death of capitalism in the USA, the world markets continue to slide. The dollar moves closer to parity w/ Euro. The US market has gone in a virtual straight line down for 8 mos. The election polls have never been so useful and such a market tell. They confirm our confidence to add to shorts via etfs everytime he goes up a point or two. Obama has been a God send for volatility. Expect a washout to at least dow 7200. Perhaps a 6 handle. The emerging markets have been a blast as well. Go Obama!!! Obama voters, please continue to vote early and often!

My hubby is an economist. His firm has been working on the sub-prime disaster for the last 18 months. The economy has never grown from the bottom up. Every economist I have known or seen interviewed, with the exception of one or two, has said that Obama’s economic policy will create a disaster of enormous proportions. You think it’s bad now?
So let’s assume under an Obama presidency those 40% of people who currently pay no taxes are going to receive $500 in this redistrubtion of wealth. That amounts to $42 a month more. By today’s standards, how is that going to significantly improve anyone’s standard of living? And what will Obama do when those people then scream that $500 isn’t enough?
And no one is talking about what will happen when people are allowed to take up to $10,000 penalty free from their 401K accounts. Do you honestly think that every single person who takes advantage of that is going to use the money to help releive their debt and not go out and refurnish their living room? Where is the money going to come from when those people retire and don’t have enough to live on because they mortgaged their futures?
Wake up people! Taxwise, an Obama presidency apparently will only hit a small percentage, but his economic policy will hurt every single citizen, including our children’s futures and do great damage to our country for generations to come.
And that doesn’t even take into account what he will do to dessiminate our military.

Obama has not held the new conference in over a month because the man cannot talk without a script and doesn’t like to answer hard questions. Well hard questions are important in life and you cannot run away from them. Hard questions are always in your life and when you are honest to yourself and others you answer the questions. If you don’t answer questions you live a lie. You cannot keep running from questions. This might be an indication of what his term as President would be like…he will only give you scripted information that he wants to give you and you will not know what the government is doing…sounds Socialist to me…just like Russia…government only tells them what government wants them to hear and soon there will be no independent news outlets…only those that tow the government line or ones that are government run….Obama’s core ideology is not democracy and government for the people by the people.

Classic Dem/Lib tactic. Attack the person instead of debating the issues. I have seen very few stupid comments here as you would call them and yours is definitely one of them.
In an intelligent discourse among intelligent people, they ignore any comments that appear stupid or ignorant and stick to talking about the real issues.
What are your views on “spreading the wealth”, increasing taxes in a crippled economy, decreasing our military when we are fighting two wars, the big bailout? There’s alot more, but I thought I’d start with the easy ones.
Obama and his campaign would be proud of you in attacking the intelligence of people who bring up valid points that they don’t want you to know the answer to.

Why would he become more accessible after election?
What Id like to hear is what is the purpose of the civilian military he says he wants to create that is the same size as the military?
Also I would like to know if he’s serious about drafting people he said he would draft women, for the military or for this civilian force…or?
His plans to attack Pakistan, when will he do that and does he know its our ally?
What if anything he’s going to do if Venezuela attacks our ally Columbia.
What if anything he will do if Isreal attacks Iran after his election which looks more and more likely.
What if anything is he going to do if Russia puts missles in Cuba which they say they are going to do.
What if anything is he going to do if Russia invades Ukraine or any other former soviet republics.
His views on late term abortion.
His views on gay marriage if he hasnt said, I havent heard.
How long he used cocaine and when did he quit.
How long he drank alchohol and if he quit.
When did he quit smoking, or does he still smoke, and why is he proposing a federal smoking ban? and where is the revenue lost from cigarette taxes going to come from?
Why are all of his college records sealed?
Why was his Birth Certificate sealed by the Governor of Hawaii yesterday right after he went to Hawaii 9 days before the election?
Some of these questions can be asked all the other candidates as well, whatever is applicable to each candidate, although everyone else but him supplied a birth certificate and school records.
Or are these silly questions?

Everytime this crap is tried it fails and the country suffers for years. Why do we not learn from history….before they rewrite it.
A leftist Supreme Court will strip ALL of your rights away: speech, guns, assembly.
The US will be the UN’s #####. Obama will give away our precious men and women in uniform to the hapless UN security council for their use.
We will ALL have a tax increase as soon as Obama kills the Bush Tax cuts….EVERYONE OF US will get hit. The 95% line is bs…completely.

Why should Obama hold a press conference since the media is so far in the bag for him anyway? All they would ask him is soft-ball questions since they clearly don’t want to see the “chosen one” chosen by the media and not by the people answer any questions that may lead him to answer how he truly thinks by answering unprepped questions and not what he says he thinks with prepared comments with prepped questions..

Remember: There is not a difference in the basic policy of either Obama or McCain: They will both keep troops overseas, they both seek war, they both believe in expanding the government (albeit for slightly different benefactors), and they both have their biggest admirers in the press-corps and the powerful lobbying groups.
Voting for either is a vote for the status quo, with mere alterations in procedure, not an overhaul of the system. When 80% of the people think the country is headed in the wrong direction, why do they vote for people that want to keep that direction?

It’s time to review the laws that give the press a free pass in their behavior and their lies. Special treatment should only be given to a free press. The MSM no longer meets that criteria. It’s just the mouthpiece for the socialist-marxist agenda of the Obama-style dimocrats.

If Obama doesn’t like the questions–he just won’t do the interview. The station will be banned. He doesn’t like Fox News–even though they are the top rated cable network. He had to “negotiate” the terms of that interview. He didn’t like the interview that was conducted in FL–they are banned. He didn’t like the guests that WGN booked on their radio station–no interviews for them.
So–access is denied if “the One” deems them inappropriate. Hm.
Are there *any* Obama supporters that have an issue with this? If McCain or Palin had refused to interview with Couric, Williams, Gibson or any of the others that they deemed to be “unfriendly”…would you have had an issue with that?

If Obama becomes president, AND we are attacked again 9/11 style, it will be interesting to see how Obama/Pelosi/Reid (the three headed dragon) will twist the facts in order to blame Bush. They won’t be able to blame McCain so I have no doubt that OBama’s spin doctors will somehow put any attacks on Bush’s shoulders. After all he does have the media on his side.

From day one Obama has never answered hard ball questions, and has furnished no details about his backgound, or his proposals. His backers (the educationally elitists.. with not a lick of common sense) refuse to provide
and insight to his qualifications. Any negative comments, or challenges to his qualifications are labeled racist.
I will tell you that he was both directly, and then indirectly, associated with ACORN. I will also tell you that ACORN is far more involved with the sub-prime loan issue, as supported by Obama and other key Democrats, If people took the time to research ACORN they would see that the voter registration fraud issue is just the tip of a very big, and dangerous ice berg!
The redistribution of wealth issue has been an Obama hot button for years! I believe he has been groomed by the socialist movement for many, many years.
Come on America wake up and smell the roses! We have fought for many years, and many lives have been given for the freedoms we enjoy. If we let the new socialist democrats take over, all will have been lost! The Educated elitist supporting Obama are not smarter than the silent majority, and we need to put them back in their place! VOTE FOR JOHN MCCAIN!!!!

There are so many in fact that they want to vote for Obama because he has promised even MORE handouts. Eventually the pool of money will dry up and those dependant on the government will resort to canablism.

Obama also has stated in debates with Hillary that he wants to give drivers license to illegal immigrants. How come no one has asked or remembers this? He also said he would vote against the FISA bill just to get votes away from Hillary and then after winning the nomination he voted for it. He as said he would immediately pull the troops out of IRAQ and then after winning the nomination he votes for funding the troops. He will say or do anything to get elected. I fear the worst if he wins.

The state of Washington had the unfortunate distinction of having ACORN help elect our Govenor. The registered 6,000 felons who eventually voted. Our “democratic” govenor only won by 133 votes. Had it not been for ACORN we would have had a republican govenor.

My mom is on a bit of government assistance because of disability; (yes, I have tried to help her but living in California and getting out of debt – thank you Dave Ramsey- has taken up my extra income)
When she lived in govenment housing, if her income when up, her rent was adjusted…The government KEEPS YOU POOR AND DEPENDENT! She could hardly get out from under the oppressive thumb of the handout; I finally convinced her to get out and find another alternative and she is keeping more of her money (such as it is) and is much happier.
Could you imagine getting Healthcare, housing, education, and sustenance from the same government that runs the DMfreakinV, state fostercare, or fixes the roads?!?
AMERICA WAS FOUNDED ON INDEPENDENCE not turning it into another high taxes nanny state under KING BARACK (revolutionary England reference for those of you who live in the Hamptons) Let’s be the leader of invention, industry, and independence; not where we take care of people who get so comfortable…why take care of myself?

Obama will control the Executive branch.
Pelosi/Reid will control the Legislative branch.
Obama will “install” liberal judges in the Judicial branch.
The Messiah will have total control over all three branches of government and control the media too.
Like Nancy Pelosi said, “With Barack Obama as president, there’ll be no stopping us!”

To JMan,
There is a state in which conservatism is dominating and outshining other states. :)
Texas has been very conservative for a while — They have no State Income tax, strong conservative leadership, relaxed gun laws, and the 2nd highest GNP of the nation. In addition, the state government has a surplus while California is 14 Billion dollars in debt.

“stupid” means that you are concerned why the likes of Rev. I find myself reading comments at the end of political news pieces, just to see if I’m the only one. I rarely respond, but your comment about a conservative state struck a humorous cord with me… so I had to respond.
I forgot to mention that Texas has the 2nd highest GNP (gross national product) with probably 2 thirds the population of California. In addition, Texas has really made some great strides in becoming energy independent with Wind and Natural Gas power. It wasn’t too long ago when California had to purchase electricity from Texas just to keep from turning into a 3rd world country.
If what I am reading is correct, I fully expect Texas to declare itself to be energy independent before all other states… Which I find ironic seeing as most people believe the Democratic party to be the “topic/answer owners” of energy conservation.
I too agree with your about the National borders, and that is a federal issue. It seems that the few things that the Federal government is LAWFULLY and OBVIOUSLY supposed to be responsible for is the things it always complains about not having funding for. We find money to study monkey farts, but can’t invest in border protection and defense.

This is a serious question.
I know little of the law, but why is it not considered treason for the media to slant, filter or construct the news in such a way as to influence the outcome of the election?
I thought that the willful attempt to influence the outcome of an election was not only illegal but treasonous.
I would think that if manipulation of information by the media to influence the outcome of an election is treasonous, then is the death penalty still the prefered method of punishment?
Would not the heads of those media outlets i.e. MSNBC, CBA, ABC, CNN, New York Times etc be liable for criminal prosecution and therefore death?
Just curious.

I find it funny that the media, is using the first amendment to swing the election towards a guy that plans on “re-designing” the constitution and may end up eliminating not only the first amendment, but the second amendment as well.
First steps needed to have a dictatorship is..
1. Control the media.
(first amendment)
2. Remove privately owned weapons.
(second amendment)
3. Control all aspect of government (i.e. all three branches of goverment)
4. Eliminate any term limits set down in the constitution.
5. Proclaim yourself president for life.
Sounds a lot like what Hugo Chavez has done in Venezuela.

During Clintons administration everyone prospered. At least that’s what we are supposed to believe. Ever hear of Enron? Well, Enron wasn’t the only company using “Fuzzy Math”, the others were able to readjust their forcasts without facing foreclosure or prison time. Fannie and Freddie subprime loans started during his busy schedule with Ms. Lewinsky. Democrats retired and went to work for Fannie and Freddie and the ones still in office got tons of money and lower interest rates on home loans. It takes a while for the garbage to roll down hill and it started rolling when Obama was running.

When Texas joined the union, it retained the right to break up into as many as 3 smaller states. Perhaps conservatives should get together and plead with Texas to do this and then colonize these new states and run them true to conservative principles, if that is anywhere near possible if Obama is elected. If it isn’t possible, perhaps the Conservative States of America could break away from the Union.
Almost every state, city, county that is run by mostly Democrats is a mess. It is NOT a coincidence. It is the result of the policies and ideas of liberals. What they try to make better they make worse since they live in a dream world that doesn’t exist. Reading the blogs that show me that other conservatives exist keep me going. 1. Throw out RoeVsWade.
If the culture of death and convenience don’t like it, LEAVE!
2. Reset our Supreme Court with Originalists.
If that makes you leftists uncomfortable, LEAVE!
3. Arrest the perpetrators of treason that reside within government, confiscate all of their ill gotten gains. Start with Pelosi, Frank, and Reid. If the rest should feel threatened , LEAVE!
4. Tell the ILLEGALS to LEAVE! You have one year. Stop by the nearest armory and pick up our complimentary exit package. ( A copy of our Bill of Rights, 100 rounds of ammo, and one M-16).

Yes, Bush acted like a socialist….moderate at best. He is not a conservative. Conservatives believe there should be pain before a lesson is learned…banks won’t feel pain, wall street won’t, the CEOs (AIG being the biggest example) won’t feel pain…and without the pain of learning the hard way, we are doomed to repeat.
If Bush was a true conservative we would have gotten rid of debt, the government would have budget surpluses, and he’d would veto spending bills. He wouldn’t bail out companies and he’d get the government out of our lives.
He is a modern globalist….isolationism doesn’t exist just because globalism does…we just don’t want any other country telling us what do to.
He has been a pretty big let down for conservatives; don’t get me wrong, in some ways he has been great, but those are too few.

This fellow will shut down the INCENTIVES that provide the fuel that powers our economy. Has anyone here ever heard the word “BREADLINE”. That’s the sort of thing that happens when there’s no longer any reason to work.

I am all for that! We do need a revolution..like ever 25-35 years was Jefferson’s prescription I believe.
Conservatism in it’s truest form (no greed here)could make states and cities very wonderful to work and live in.

THIS WILL SCARE YOU…especially if you are fans of 1984
I was teaching the other day in a 5th grade class and on the board the teacher had a picture story book…of Obama’s life.
Our education system is teaching our children that Obama had this wonderful life in Hawaii and then in Indonesia and then he grew up helping people….I actually was so phased by this, I told the kids in the middle of my lecture that I had to stop and regain my thoughts…
So if he is our beloved Messiah…who will be our GOLDSTEIN?

Consider this – A Guy named Joe, who happens to be a plumber with ambitions for a bigger business, questioned and challenged a Guy named Barack, who happens to be running for President of the US/Leader of the Free World… And within 24 hours the Media has given us more information about Joe’s life than they’ve given us about Barack’s life in the past 18 months.
Thanks to a diligent press corps, we now know about Joe’s professional licensing status, his income tax situation, his employment history, his domestic squabbles, his voting record, everything associated with his personal identity; his education…. It’s probably been reported somewhere whether he wears boxers or briefs.
Thanks to a lazy press corps…We still don’t know what grades Obama made in college; how he got into Harvard; when he met Bill ‘the bomber’ Ayers; when he stopped doing illegal drugs; his medical history; whether he still smokes cigarettes; the extent of his affiliation with socialist/communist organizations; why he’s no longer a licensed attorney; whether he lied on his Bar application;—-
Whether he’d qualify for a security clearance if he were just an ‘average Joe;’ what passport he used to travel to Pakistan in 1981; who his ex-girlfriends are; whether he was or still is an Indonesian citizen; why his Kenyan grandmother insists he was born there; whether he was ever legally named Barry Soetoro or anything else besides Barack Hussein Obama—–;
Why he needed the help of a crook to purchase his family home; where he was on Nov. 6 and 7, 1999; what the long-version of his birth certificate says; why he helped an anti-American, pro-Islamic candidate for Kenyan President against US interests; why he listened to Rev. Wright’s sermons for 20 years; how many times he took his kids to a Rev. Wright sermon; what he actually did as chair of the Annenberg Challenge; the depth of his relationship with ACORN…
Well, you get the idea.
But, really, I am SO relieved that the Mainstream Media has done its job vetting Joe The Plumber, who is NOT running for public office, but who had the AUDACITY to challenge Barack Hussein Obama, who wants my vote for President of the United States of America.’

THERE IS NOTHING NEW HERE. IT’S ALL BEEN DONE BEFORE RIGHT HERE IT WAS CALLED THE “LYNDON JOHNSON GREAT SOCIETY”. THEY EVEN TRIED TO MANDATE THE PRICE OF GASOLINE — RESULTING IMMEDIATELY IN 2-MILE LONG GASLINES. CAN’T BLAME OBABMA, HE WAS TOO YOUNG. BUT HIS PUPPET MASTERS KNOW THAT THIS HOGWASH IS A WASTE OF OUR TIME. DON’T LIKE BUSH?? OK, THEN, LET’S ALL JUMP OFF A CLIFF….

lol to bill Obama’s life has been accessible and greatly scrutinized. The problem is that despite the circumstantial discrepancies regarding acquaintances during his academic tier his integrity remains intact. The plumbers hypothetical question was blown out of proportion when McCain’s desperation made the man famous and hence forth put joe under scrutiny. Everything we know about Joe we know more about Obama but lol like many dumb white Americans you will want to see what you want.

Bill-
I may try to copy and paste what you wrote (and I will give you credit!) You are so right on in your questions here.
Sarah Palin has been loathed and detested but if she does one thing – I hope she gets people to think about Who Obama is? We DO NOT know this man. We know the picture the media has painted of him – that is all. Our obsession of the Hollywood culture is going to be the death of this nation as people look to Obama’s charisma, “yes man” attitude and his feel good marketing campaign. Never mind that he lies through his teeth (as would any good politician)No America – we do not know this man. And I can not trust a man I do not know and I can not vote for a man I don’t trust and dont know. McCain- still a politicain but I believe as an old soldier- he IS doing this for his country.
Obama? Wants to CHANGE this great country?
Are you ready for that? Are you ready to see the end of a USA that your parents and grandparents knew?
With changing values towards a “One world nation” and a doomed “socialist” perspective – Obama can not be the right choice here. Never in the history of this great country has any Presidential candidate been associated with as many Anti-american – groups, remarks, individuals. Why? And How? can that be? He is running for the most important position in our country.
Get educated. Get informed and make the right decision. McCain/Palin 2008.

Hey–to those in King County and/or Seattle I am another conservative
voice in this bastion of left leaning liberals!
I still smart fromWashington State’s stolen gubernatorial election in 2004. There was fraud, and the government did nothing including the judges.Dino Rossi WILL be our next republican governor as he is favored here! We are an independent lot and our state will be blue for Obama unfortunately.
Now, our King County Council is trying to get us to vote yes for a charter amendment to increase the threshold for petition signatures from 10% to 20%.
KC is a microcosm of socialism and it stinks! Lots of stuff gets passed by them without a vote, thus we fight by
petition(and usually win!)
NO WAY even on a local level will KC
take away our right to the petition process.
Obama would bring us this type of socialist government but on a large Federal scale and that spells DANGEROUS!

Barack is the most secretive presidential candidate in years. His life is off-limits to anyone who dares venture into finding out more about him. The press has insulated him from actually answering substantive questions. The press is in for him and want to see him as president. He hasn’t been held to near the scrutiny as McCain or Palin have. I’d be scared to find out just how much a Socialist he actually is. Although he’s letting some slip out and that’s why he’s HIDING from them. Joe, Big Mouth, Biden found out what it’s like to be asked a question that should be asked of them. He didn’t like it and censored the station that had the nerve not to throw him another softball question. “I pity the fool who thinks he or she can ask me a question that’s not on the approved list!!!”

I admit that Jenny’s post is a good one. And I have to say that I read it in another forum the other day posted by someone else.
It doesn’t mean it doesn’t have merit. But people should acknowledge when they use someone else’s words and not post them as their own.
If Jenny was the one who posted it in that other forum, I apologize for my error.

This is what we were afraid of. He flip-flopped again (just like when he said he would use the presidential campaign financing system to limit the ridiculous costs of presidential campaigns). He is really good at a teleprompter but when he has to speak from the heart, he seems to do no better than Joe “the Freudian Slip” Biden. And it’s getting worse, not better. If nobody is going to hold his feet to the media fire, I guess it’s a smart move on his part to hide from reporters.

MarkD – (Sylvie – you can copy this if you wish) Try this for scare tactics – You and your comrades want to hand over the “football” to an unaccomplished socialist! Keep in mind that the “football” is the portable communication system that the president takes with him to in order to authorize commanders in the field to arm and use nuclear weapons!!! That power should not be given to an empty suit!!!

I know I will be labeled a racist or, at best, an Obama hater, but why will he not hold a news conference? Answer: He is like a guilty man who knows that it is better to remain silent and let the police think you are guilty than to talk and remove all doubt. If he answers tough questions, he will be found to be someone he does not want us to think he is: a socialist who does hold this country in high regard as it now exists. He wants to re-do this country in the likeness of Saul Alinsky, but he cannot say it outright. GOD HELP THIS COUNTRY IF HE GETS ELECTED!!!

I happen to be a conservative, and I have a message to your other conservatives out there. When you’re blogging your comments, you often start well and then end with some sort of unoriginal polemic like “Atlas is Shrugging…bless this great nation!” Would you guys stop copying random phrases of other radical libertarians and start thinking on your own? You would do yourself and other conservatives a huge favor by posting well-thought, logical comments – not absconded propaganda. Seriously!

Toward the end of Hillary’s primary campagin, her spokespeople came out and said they had startling information about Obama and would be releasing it at the appropriate time. It was mentioned a few times and then nothing. She lost the primary and nothing else was ever mentioned. Wonder what THAT was all about? Does anyone else remember that and/or have any ideas?
I would MUCH rather have 8 more years of this administration that 4 years of total disaster under the most liberal and elite Democrat to date in Congress. Drink his Kool-Aid all you like, but in less than a year, this country as we know it, will have totally changed for the worst. Then I wonder how many of you out there will be crying in your beer that you were wronged, screwed, deceived, and lied to by this Pied Piper with Greek columns. He will attempt to strip this country of everything we hold true and sacred in 4 years, and you, the voters for this idiot, will be hurt the most because you believed this snake oil salesman.
What I think is so funny, is that this very network, ABC, is one of many (except for Fox News Channel) networks who are totally in the tank for this guy. After reading all the comments, it’s good to know the majority are scared to death of this candidate, and scared enough not to give him your vote. I’m hoping your wisdom will encourage you to vote for a true patriot and one who hasn’t ever been fearful of serving his country. And, if your wisdom doesn’t convince you to vote for McCain, I pray your fear for Obama does.

A powerful voice and pleasant words are a sweet salve to the troubled soul. The ears hear the sounds of hope and the heart rejoices. There is a way that seems right and just. Man, woman and child join hand in hand and follow. The words that brought hope and light soon echo hollow and empty, like sound beneath the ground. The truth is revealed. The brilliant glow of pride and self-adoration betray the common man. An honest heart seeking truth and justice soon discovers the false light is only a beacon lighting the path to destruction. The choice is up to you. Choose you must and choose you will. Either you choose it or it chooses you. Be careful how you choose for it may be the last choice you have. Remember, everyone that is proud in heart is an abomination and shall not go unpunished.

if you remember…he didn’t have time to visit the injured soldiers either because the media couldn’t go….no photo…no visit…..he is afraid of REAL questions…he gets in too much trouble without his teleprompter…he is too open how he wants to run our great country into the ground

Obama is a pending disaster for America and the World. He doesn’t need to do press conferences, he OWNS the media who believe, like Louis Farrakhan that Obama is THE Messiah. The press are behaving more and more like the countries that control what the people hear and see, the press has created Obama. The press is no longer objective, and 2008 will be the year the press became THE Obama propaganda machine. So, why have a conference? We have the democratic talking points 24/7 on the major networks-

So, we can look forward to the press bringing out story of obama and cocaine usage (bush dwi coverage?)
or obama and his terrorist pals (bush and awol charges?)
obama and michelle the terrorist (bush and his wife the dwi homicide?)
I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE COMING MEDIA’S COVERAGE OF OBAMA
media is going to get its due it obama wins – as TV stations on the obama ban – they will get put in their place by the obama freezeout policies if they dare to cover the truth.

How interesting that McCain attacks Obama for being a “wealth redistributionist”! Think about this line of attack for a moment. The corporate/financial elite of this nation have been feeding like pigs at the public tax trough for over a hundred years! No one thinks to point the finger at THEM and accuse HEM of redistributing the nation’s wealth into their own profits. The Pentagon has claimed a MASSIVE share of the nation’s wealth, collaterally enriching all the huge corporations that supply the ordnance and everything elase that the military buys from them with OUR tax dollars. No one accuses these parasitic companies (often getting contracts without even a competitive bid) of redistributing the public’s wealth.
Yet McCain shamelessly and stupidly levels this charge at OBAMA! Freud developed the theory of projection in psychology and psychoanalytic thought. PROJECTION! An individual, or even a group or an entire population can PROJECT onto others the very quality or behavior that the accuser is actually exhibiting or engaging in.
Here we have an obsequious corporate tool like John McCain, who has championed deregulation for decades, who openly proclaims Ronald Reagan to be his hero (the SAME Ronald Reagan who became notorious for his slashing of public social programs while simultaneously cutting taxes dramatically for the very WEALTHIEST of our citizens)…. we have this senator from Arizona, who has ALWAYS supported wealth redistribution as long as it went from the bottom to the top, ACCUSING Barack Obama of wanting to “redistribute the wealth”.
McCain makes this accusation with a straight face, perhaps UNAWARE of the bitter irony involved! Maybe he’s too stupid to realize what a hypocritical stance he has taken. I suppose he and his supporters feel it is perfectly ACCEPTABLE for the wealthy to receive all manner of subsidies from our tax monies and it is criminal for our tax monies to be used to help the poor, the marginalized, and the middle class in ANY fashion. Anything that helps Americans who are NOT members of the wealthy ELITE are branded as ENTITLEMENTS.
All this transparent rape and pilage and plundering of the nation’s wealth by the ELITE and the DEFENSE CONTRACTORS is NOT perceived by them or, perhaps even by the general public (thanks to a sycophantic corporate mass media who SHARE in the plunder)as entitlements. The people have been bamboozled in this manner for over a hundred years! McCain and h is masters are simply protecting their positions atop the economy.
Perhaps the electorate will deliver a huge MANDATE on November 4th by selecting the only candidate who might genuinely put the people first! We shall see.

Kind of reminds me of when I was a teenager sneaking behind my parent’s backs when I knew I did something wrong. BO has been fabricating stories and answers for so long he is afraid that possiibly, when confronted, he will contradict a previous story or lie. Welcome all of you who have recently awoken to this weird reality before us. We are about to elect a man to the highest office in the world, and we know nothing about him except that he can talk.

I think the majority of the people posting on here are crazy! Where are you getting your information? Geesh, I have never seen a bunch of idiots in my life talk so much crap. If you’re for Obama–you support socialism/terrorism—if you’re for McCain…you get the idea. How about just voting for who you’re going to vote for without slinging the mud? It’s no wonder our children are disrespectful towards each other and their parents if this is what they get at home. For once we have a candidate that is not trying to personally slander another with insinuations about race/religion/ethnicity and past associations. But nooo, we have to have the other guy bring things up that in the long run—DO NOT MATTER! Please! what matters to me, a single mother, a full-time employee, a graduate student, a caretaker for a retired parent and a homeowner who pays taxes while making less than 30K…what each candidate has to offer my parent, my son and myself and if these campaign promises will be kept. I want to make sure that the candidate I pick is for the people who are actually struggling to keep this country afloat. And I do mean..Joe the plumber….GI Joe and Jane….Josephine the waitress, etc, etc. So if this election has any of you thinking beyond that—than I pity this country.
