Obama…Nice No More

ABC News’ John Berman, Sunlen Miller and Ursula Fahy Report: It was no more Mr. Nice Guy from Barack Obama Thursday in Grand Rapids Michigan.  After two days on the stump where the name of Republican rival John McCain passed his lips just once, Obama was back on the attack today.

He spoke of the federal job report coming out tomorrow, and predicted it would show more job losses, which would make 9 months of job losses in a row.  "Yet, just the other week," Obama told the crowd, "John McCain said the fundamentals of the economy are strong. Well, I don’t know what yardstick Senator McCain uses, but where I come from, there’s nothing more fundamental than a job."

At a Sept. 15 rally, McCain said the economy was in "crisis" but said it was not the fault of the American worker, praising the fundamentals of America as "strong".

Michigan is a state that knows economic hardship.  It has the highest unemployment rate in the country and has lost 300,000 manufacturing jobs since 2000.

"Everywhere you look, the economic news is troubling," Obama said, "But for so many of you here in Michigan, it isn’t really news at all."

Michigan is also a state with 17 electoral votes coveted by both campaigns.  This was Obama’s second trip here in less than a week; he was in Detroit on Sunday, and his campaign is also bringing in the big guns.  His wife Michelle is in Saginaw and Macomb County today.

"She’s on the other side of the state. She draws her own crowds and rightfully so," said Obama. "By the way, tomorrow is our 16th anniversary. So I’ve got this romantic dinner planned. I- and I think it should go pretty well. That’s my hope anyway. I’ve got a gift all picked out." No word what the gift is.

In addition to his wife, hip-hop star Jay Z in Detroit on Saturday, and Bruce Springsteen is in Ypsilanti on Monday.

Local officials say Obama’s event in Grand Rapids drew just under 16,000 people. Kent County, home to Grand Rapids is Republican territory; the home of Gerald Ford and a county that George W. Bush won with nearly 60 percent of the vote in 2004.

Obama’s stump speech didn’t include much in the way of "new" news.  Campaign aides acknowledge it is hard to break through in this environment with everyone focused on the congressional vote, and the Thursday night’s vice presidential debate.

By the way, one name Obama did not mention on the stump today?  Joe Biden.  Not even to wish him luck.

When was mr obama ever nice.
He has had the most vile, evil campaign of the bunch.
His tactics have been low- life and evil.
His Smear Campaigns have been sheer horror. The way he attacked people.
For almost 2 years he has gotten away with such evil and vile tactics.
He did pretend to be nice in some of his speeches, which was ended Quickly by his attacks on someone.
Never a speech went by that he did not attack or blame someone, of something.
Mr Obama nice that has to be a joke and not the same Barry obama running for president in the US Election. Not the evil, vile hatefill obama we have seen everyday.

McCain used his life to protect our country, he has the deepest feel of our country’s needs.
I think Obama is out of touch. He’s never been in military to feel soldiers’ life, to experience how hard it is to fight for the country.
He was sitting in the comfortable room to watch how others make mistakes.

Michigan’s economy has been in the crapper for years, even when the rest of the US was growing. This is thanks to high taxes, a very business-unfriendly environment which prevents diversification of their economy, closed shop rules which benefit big unions and which lose jobs, and excessive control by the teachers unions of the schools.
Message on taxes to Michigan’s liberal, union lapdog, job-destroying, governor: “Not another penny, Jenny!”

I guess all you McCain supporters like crap because that’s all McCain offers more crap sandwiches, however, he’s going to throw a slice of cheese on it.

Obama is good at peaking at effective times.
I remember two summers ago, when the media and many of his supporters were anxiously asking, “why isn’t Obama going after Clinton?” He was pretty mellow all summer.
Then come fall, he started ramping up. And by December, his campaign was in full gear, leading into his surprise win in the Iowa Caucus.
In the spring of this year, after losing New Hampshire and being forced to regroup, he was able to peak again just in time for Super Tuesday and the string of primaries immediately after. And upon having the delegates his campaign thought (though no one seemed to believe them) was sufficient to win, Obama again went into mellow mode.
This summer, despite McCain throwing all sorts of negative ads at Obama, Obama himself remained mellow. He ramped up a touch for the convention, where he gave a good speech, but it was just part of a broader, slow ramp up bringing us to this October.
Though not without mistakes, the Obama campaign has been masterful, including its sense of timing, as well as its sense of calm when the time wasn’t right for anything else.

You republicans are such IDIOTS! Haven’t you LISTENED to the issues and to obama and McCain’s tax policies? Under Obama’s tax plan, 95 percent of the American population that earns less than $250,000 would see the following tax breaks: A $500-per-worker tax credit for people who earn less than $150,000 and do not itemize, and a $4,000 credit per child in college. Seniors who earn less than $50,000 would pay no income tax.
So how in the HELL are you guys still saying “Obama will raise taxes”??
McCain supporters are just such FOOLS!
Yes, McCain fought for our country…that makes him a great veteran. But does not necessarily mean that his policies on economy, healthcare, social security, etc are BETTER? His one strength is that he has experience as a soldier. Obama has more intelligence. He is more respected than McCain overseas….and to me that is VERY important. So many countries in the Middle East, Europe, Asia HATE the U.S. because of Bush. That same sentiment will continue with McCain. If Obama is elected, he can help restore our international relations.
Plus, Sarah Palin is the dumbest chick I have seen in a long while. “Uh, uh, okay Charlie?”…”Uh, Uh, you know Katie…uh..dur, dur, dur, dur, dumb, dur, dumb, dumb, blaaaaah…”

If the economy wasn’t fundamentally strong, everything would have crashed last week. But look – even with downturns, even with 7%/1 trillion lost, even with increased unemployment — no runs on banks, no leaps from Wall Street Windows, no massive manufacturing shutdowns, no end to retail/trade, no significant drop in the number of people with time to blog because they have to work for food. Yes, some people are having significant problems. Yes, many people are worried. But the economy in and of itself is still ticking, albeit slowly.

I’m glad John McCain won’t meet with the Spanish Prime Minister. We should not meet with the enemies of our country, John McCain is a hero and he knows the best path for us and if that is to be anti-Spain than that should be what we all want no questions asked. I bet Obama would meet with the Spanish and even play soccer with them! Gross. John McCain’s service makes him supremely qualified to judge the Spanish and we have a lot of them coming over here taking our jobs. And Barack Obama will raise taxes on the rich and not the poor! So how will the rich be able to afford their lifestyles?? Think about that. These liberals want alternative energy, which is crazy, we have oil enough to go around – Sarah Palin is like the most honest person ever. She’s so smart and qualified even a liberal slime mold could see that. She will defend us from the Russians and she’s good at hockey and apparently running because she named her kid Track. McCain is so awesome half the time he sounds like he doesn’t know what he’s talking about but that’s what this country needs!! Don’t you see, we don’t want someone who is really smart and really good with the people – we need a grumpy man who will make us laugh by saying things that don’t make sense and all that. USA is number One don’t forget it.

How?
Obama says “I will slow our development of future combat systems. ..I will not weaponize space ..and I will not develop new nuclear weapons..”
So, we’ll strike back how exactly? with Hope and Change? Words?

Posted by: angie | October 2, 2008, 12:12 pm 12:12 pm

Reddog0216 – You’re a boner.
McCain’s plan grows the national debt by a lot more than Obama. So if you equalized Obama and McCain’s total fiscal impact, Obama would give more relief to the middle-income tax units as a whole. (In other words, a larger share of Obama’s fiscal plan goes to the middle-income tax units than McCain’s; or for every $1 of fiscal spending or tax cuts, Obama’s is more likely to go to the middle-income units than McCain’s.)
Obama’s plan would bring in an additional $700 billion in taxes over the next 10 years, while McCain’s would cost the Treasury $600 billion. Assuming legislators would have let the tax breaks expire, Obama’s plan would cost the U.S. Treasury $2.7 trillion and McCain’s $3.7 trillion.

Hey angie do you know who was in office for this The CRA was passed by the 95th United States Congress and signed into law by President Jimmy Carter in 1977 as a result of national pressure for affordable housing, and despite considerable opposition from the mainstream banking community.[2] The CRA mandates that each banking institution be evaluated to determine if it has met the credit needs of its entire community. That record is taken into account when the federal government considers an institution’s application for deposit facilities.[2]
The Act charged the Federal Reserve System to implement the CRA through ensuring banks and savings and loans met their CRA obligations.[2] The CRA is also enforced by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (“FDIC”) CRA Statute. Congress did not intend that CRA impose credit allocation and provided for flexibility in evaluating compliance.[3] Community groups only slowly organized to take advantage of their right to complain about law enforcement of the regulations.[4]

Posted by: reddog0216 | October 2, 2008, 12:21 pm 12:21 pm

Or who was in office for this:
In early 1993 President Clinton ordered new regulations for the CRA which would increase access to mortgage credit for inner city and distressed rural communities.[6] The new rules went into effect on January 31, 1995 and featured: requiring numerical assessments to get a satisfactory CRA rating; using federal home-loan data broken down by neighborhood, income group, and race; encouraging community groups to complain when banks were not loaning enough to specified neighborhood, income group, and race; allowing community groups that marketed loans to targeted groups to collect a fee from the banks.[5]
According to a United States Department of the Treasury study of lending trends in 305 U.S. cities between 1993 and 1998 467 billion dollars in mortgage credit flowed from CRA-covered lenders to CRA-eligible borrowers. The number of CRA mortgage loans increased by 39 percent. Other loans increased by only 17 percent.[7]

Hey wait this is not REGULATION THEY ARE SUGGESTING IS IT
[edit] GW Bush Administration Changes of 2005
In 2002 there was an inter-agency review of the effectiveness of the 1995 regulatory changes to the Community Reinvestment Act and new proposals were considered.[5] The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, and the Office of the Controller of the Currency put new regulations into effect September of 2005.[8] The regulations were opposed by a contingent of Democrats because the action “undercuts the statutory purpose of the Act for institutions to meet the needs of low and moderate-income persons and communities by OTS.”[9]
The regulations included less restrictive new definitions of “small” and “intermediate small” banks.[2] “Intermediate small banks” were defined as banks with assets of less than $1 billion, but allows banks to opt for examination as a large bank.[8] Currently banks with assets greater than $1.061 billion have their CRA performance evaluated according to lending, investment and service tests. The agencies use the Consumer Price Index to adjust the asset size thresholds for small and large institutions annually

If you are self employed and you have $500,000 in income per year, your federal taxes will go up by about $60,000 under Obama’s tax plans. Obama is going to undo the FICA wage base cap, meaning that you will have to pay 12.4% on all of your income in excess of the FICA wage base cap of $104,000 (12.4%x ($500,000-$104,000), or $49,104). Your federal income taxes will go up by 4.6% x $250,000, or $11,500. In sum, your federal income taxes will go up by $60,000.
Small business employs 70% of all the workers in the USA. What Obama’s tax plan means, many people working for small businesses will be losing their jobs. Thats change you can count on.

Yes, as we’ve said before, Obama did in fact vote for a budget resolution that called for higher federal income tax rates on a single, non-homeowner who earned as little as $42,000 per year. A couple filing jointly, however, would have had to earn at least $83,000 per year to be affected. A family of four with income up to $90,000 would not have been affected

Obama has never had to be a bad guy. The media including ABC has done all the nasty’s for him. Why do we know more about Sarah Palin than we know about Barack Obama. The truth might hurt but the truth is that this economic problem was created by the push by the Democrats to decrease regulatory control over FANNIE MAE and FREDDIE MAC. Obama and his ACORN cronnies were some of the biggest promoters. The unwillingness of the liberal media and ABC to appropriately report this is truly criminal and should be investigated. Ironically the very people whom should be investigated in Congress are the very people whom would be in charge of the investigations. If the American People knew this Obama would lose and possibly the Republicans would regain the legislative branch. I no longer think that the media is only biased, I believe the media including ABC has become corrupt.

McCain always reminded people “I am a POW”, “I am a POW”. That’s all he got for building his political career. I am tired of hearing it all the time. We need a stable and intelligent leader at this critical moment of our country, not just a POW.

Why is the media keeping a lid on this.
Why is FEC Keeping Lid on OBAMA SCANDAL?
It looks as if Senator Obama may have received MORE THAN $200 MILLION in illegal donations including millions overseas campaign donations. Four times during the last three months an FEC Auditor has asked his bosses to start an investigation into Senator Obama’s illegal campaign donations such as this one
Similarly, a donor identified as “Pro, Doodad,” from “Nando, NY,” gave $19,500 in 786 separate donations, most of them for $25. For most of these donations, Mr. Doodad Pro listed his employer as “Loving” and his profession as “You,” etc.

Actually, Obama plans to encourage investment in home-grown businesses along with helping to lower the insurance premiums many (responsible) businesses pay already. It is not as simple as you make it out to be.
The country was doing very well less than 8 years ago. A return to those tax levels would do little to harm jobs and perhaps a bit to reduce profits of the big boys. What’s a million to execs anyway?
It’s a stale argument. Obama sees the big picture. Do you?

McCain panicked at the end of August. In a desperate, irresponsible move, he cynically pick Palin for his VP without vetting her. It was reckless, impulsive and dangerous. Now that the tiny boost he got in the polls has stopped, evryone can see it for what it was. McCain put political pandering before country. Now he’s so mad that he’s losing, he can barely control himself.

Sheila You must be an ABC/MSNBC watcher because Barrack Hussein Obama has not aswered on question. All is say is change.
Change? How about this for change……I just don’t understand why people seem to forget this….
George Bush has been in office for almost 8 years. The first six the economy was fine, and then in 2006 the American public voted in a Democratic Congress.
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.
Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006:
1) Consumer confidence plummeted;
2) Gasoline soared to over $4 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
America voted for change in 2006, and we got it! I am not sure we can afford any more “Democratic Change”!!!!!

….Now we know why McCain wants to HIDE her from even the Wasilla News and the Alaska newspapers, let alone someone new other then who she has always talked to before…
Palin is the new Republican SCUD Missile….You just never know where she will blow up with her silly comments on TV and Radio. Every time I hear her words, I’m hoping it’s actually Tina Fey so we can say it really is a comedy routine, instead of her world view.

Simply brilliant!!! Love this part most, right at the heart-strings:
America needs someone “Who understands what it’s like to listen to a grown man choke up because he hasn’t just lost his job, he’s lost his pension, he’s lost his healthcare, and he’s trying to figure out how he’s gonna go home that day and explain to his wife and his kids that they’re in trouble and he might not be able to take care of them the way he wants.
There’s something wrong about that. There’s something un-American about that.”
This is what the Americans want to hear. This is the winning formula for Barack & Biden. Talk for, to, and about the average American and our family struggles and what they want to do in moving the road-blocks that face many Americans.

Obama has played dirty in politics SINCE HE first won in his home state. Obama will cry racist at the drop of a hat. In typical lawyer fashion he cares not for justice, truth, country, honor, duty.. he only wants to win… and be in power. He can not make a decision, he is like a puppet that has his strings pulled by his cronies on the hill and his rich supporters.
Big issue that can be tied directly to Obama and the democrats. Take a look at the revised TARP Bill that came out and was signed yesterday. THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT WILL TAKE PLACE IF OBAMA IS MADE PRESIDENT.
The House bill was changed and added to behind closed doors. It contains items that the Democrats COULD NOT GET through the Senate. and then they tacked on to this SAVINGS BILL???
Note the following BOND ISSUES that will actually take money out of THAT CREDIT cycle they are crying about.
Renewable Energy Bond Limitation of only 800,000,000.
Increases to Funding Black Lung Disability Trust.
National Xone Academy Bond Limitation only 400,000,000 for schools at poverty levels.
Coal project investment Tax Credit
2,555,000,000
They approved increasing the National Debt limit to 11.300,000,000.
Issued tax credit extensions for the following areas. (This is a joke.. because they hid this so well and ther are bunches more.)
Midwest Store Damage Credit
Secrue Rural Schools Tax Credit
Mental Health and Substance Abuse Credit
Child Tax Credit
Domestic Production Activies Puerto Rico
Expense advance Mine Safety Equipment
Mine Resuce Team Training
Economic Development for American Samoa
Rum Exicsit Tax for Puerton Rico and Virgin Islands.
S Corpations making charitable contributions of property.
Cost recovery for Improvements , restaurant improvement and certain retail improvements tax credit.
Expense and modification of research tax credit.
Oil spill liability fund
Futa Surtax
Green building and sustainable design products
Fringe benefits to bicyle commuters.
These SOB’s in the Senate with the Democrats making these additions behind closed doors deserve to be impeached,voted out and shot at dawn.
The initial House Bill was only 109 pages..AFTER the Senate… got done it was 451 pages. The first 109 pages were almost the same as the house bill. When Dodd, Reid and the rest of their cronies got done with the bill, we are in hock for even more money.
If I remember correctly… not an accountant, the Treasury will issue bonds that will pay a certain interest. These will be placed on the open market for investors to purchase.
This means that 1,200,000,000 dollars of money that COULD BE USED FOR main street
credit will be sucked up with by the US Government. Add another 2 Trillion to that in the increase in National Debt.
And they have just ‘sucked’ 3.2 Trillion dollars out of the credit market.
ISSUE A 2,550,000,000 TAX CREDIT TO COAL PROJECT INVESTMENTS.
And you have a cluster if there ever was one.
The 75 Senators that voted for this Bill, in all likely hood DID NOT EVEN READ this Bill.
They just VOTED.
Now the Mainstream Media will HIDE this as well… because this is a DEMOCRAT sponsored bill.
You can not have a democrat on the hill as PRESIDENT.. that has no original thought, no experience, that listens to DODD,REID, FRANKS,PELOSI, And other democrats on the hill. Obama so far is just a puppet …his strings are pulled by the DNC, and the ole guard on the hill.
He is now talking about going through next year’s financial budget, line item by line item. But what he is not saying is that next years financial budget was worked on and completed by Obey at the end of September. It was planned in such a manner that NO ONE had a chance to review… because it was only presented to allow 24 hours for review and then it had to be approved.

Posted by: Miller51550 | October 2, 2008, 12:57 pm 12:57 pm

remember folks, as Obama moves towards the Presidency, the spectacle of Gingrich and Delay on the steps of the Capitol in 1992 just after the inauguration of Clinton, declaring to the media “we will impeach this president”…he had been office for 12 minutes…
in the end they did exactly as they said they would (with help from Bill of course)…..and then in the end both Delay and Gingrich got thrown out of office for affairs with staffers at the same time they were impeaching Clinton….remember this…..it is what we are dealing with
these folks and their approach will return, but it will be uglier…..they will claim that Obama (Osama as the less educated say) is a closet Muslim, he is a racist, etsc and will cast aspersions on him within mintues of his inauguration….they are shameless….dont forget 1992, they kept their word the hypocrites…..

Le’me think. Which is my bigger concern: (1)the taxes I will pay on the job that I do have, or (2)the zero taxes I’ll be paying when I am unemployed after the wrong president is elected and simply continues George Bush’s legacy?
Parrots just repeat what they hear. Exactly like the folks trying to scare everyone by repeating (without any thought) that Obama will raise taxes so high that everyone will be broke in no time, and we’ll gain nothing else for it.

Charles Manson was white….does that make it ok for me to say that white people are psychotic killers? No. So if Obama all of a sudden came out and said he was Muslim, I wouldn’t really care. I wouldn’t change my vote. I have no problems with muslims. Just Muslim extremists who are terrorists. I just don’t understand your point when you say he is a muslim. so what?? “Our economy is fundamentally strong”. These are the words we’ve heard from President Bush, John McCain and I believe Sarah Palin. Yet they are criticized for saying them by Nancy Pelosi, Barak Obama and most of the democratic politicians. It seems that these democrats should go back to elementary English class to get the definition of the word “fundamental”. Webster defines fundamental as “the base on which a structure is erected” and “serving as an original or generating source”. To me, our fundamental economy means our system of democratic capitalism. And, I believe that it is strong. There are several other choices such as communism, socialism and anarchy but, I really don’t think the democrats would choose any of these over what we have.

I feel bad for the folsk in Michigan.There is goingto be NO auto industry after this credit crises. Not a whole lot of people pay for cars with cash. If Obama does his investment in green technology and we get cheap solar panels and wind, electric cars will be what we need. IT could be a rebirth of michigan. It is EXACLTY What Denmark is doing, ironically, based on an Americna compnay they bought when republicans took away their granst and it went belly up here. NOw it’s booming their economy in Denmark. Obama IS the man with the ideas. Not original, per se, other countries arehaving great success,but at least Obama has a plan for the future. Michigan will truly be a place that needs it.

Obama founded Public Allies which is a Chicago organization of tax payer funded protesters. Michelle Obama became the executive director. The group uses tax payer dollars to pay people who sign up for Marxist indoctrination. They then spend most of their time protesting and rabble-rousig. Public Allies teaches the young adults that work for them that America is a racist, oppressive place in need of “social change.”

Both my brothers have small businesses and they both said they would have to lay off 2 of the employees they have because of Obama’s taxes on small business. This is going to have make you wonder who Obama is really looking out for.

What planet are you from? Obama has run one of the cleanest campaigns in history. Obama has stuck to the issues throughout the primaries and now through the general election. McCain on the other hand is running his campaign like he has run this country for the past twenty five years – terribly. Go do some research before you post.

BLAHisBHO ,
Having “ties with” is very different from having “relationships with”. I mean come on…George Bush had “ties” with Bin Ladin’s family….but that doesn’t make me feel that he was in any way a supporter of terrorist activities. So Obama had ties with Ayers, who ended up having ties with terrorists…I bet if I spent long enough analyzing your background, I could “tie” you to someone with a criminal background. Does that make YOU a criminal? facts are facts…I get that…but which ones truly are relevant is the question. Do you honestly believe that Obama has any terrorist intentions towards our country? Come on…I’m sure he regrets any relations he had in the past with Ayers, Wright, or any of those guys. “Ties” don’t make you criminal…it can make you suspect…but not criminal until proven otherwise. McCain has close history with Bush…does that mean he has “ties” with Bin Ladin’s family? come on, don’t be ridiculous. Obama has my vote. Muslim or not. It doesn’t bother me at all.

McCain has been running scare ads on taxes (lies as usual) against Obama for some time and the 527s on the right are getting nasty. The NRA has run their lying ads too. Of course the Republicans can give but not take. Obama is working to cut down their margins in weaker Democratic areas in a State and maximize his base. Poll out today had him up in Michigan by ten.

In a letter dated June 25, 2008, the FEC asked the Obama campaign to verify a series of $25 donations from acontributor identified as “Will, Good” from Austin, Texas.
Mr. Good Will listed his employer as “Loving” and his profession as “You.”
A Newsmax analysis of the 1.4 million individual contributions in the latest master file for the Obama campaign discovered 1,000 separate entries for Mr. Good Will, most of them for $25.
In total, Mr. Good Will gave $17,375.
Following this and subsequent FEC requests, campaign records show that 330 contributions from Mr. Good Will were credited back to a credit card. But the most recent report, filed on Sept. 20, showed a net cumulative balance of $8,950 — still well over the $4,600 limit.
There can be no doubt that the Obama campaign noticed these contributions, since Obama’s Sept. 20 report specified that Good Will’s cumulative contributions since the beginning of the campaign were $9,375.
In an e-mailed response to a query from Newsmax, Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt pledged that the campaign would return the donations. But given the slowness with which the campaign has responded to earlier FEC queries, there’s no guarantee that the money will be returned before the Nov. 4 election.
Similarly, a donor identified as “Pro, Doodad,” from “Nando, NY,” gave $19,500 in 786 separate donations, most of them for $25. For most of these donations, Mr. Doodad Pro listed his employer as “Loving” and his profession as “You,” just as Good Will had done.
But in some of them, he didn’t even go this far, apparently picking letters at random to fill in the blanks on the credit card donation form. In these cases, he said he was employed by “VCX” and that his profession was “VCVC.”
Following FEC requests, the Obama campaign began refunding money to Doodad Pro in February 2008. In all, about $8,425 was charged back to a credit card. But that still left a net total of $11,165 as of Sept. 20, way over the individual limit of $4,600.
Here again, LaBolt pledged that the contributions would be returned but gave no date.
In February, after just 93 donations, Doodad Pro had already gone over the $2,300 limit for the primary. He was over the $4,600 limit for the general election one month later.
In response to FEC complaints, the Obama campaign began refunding money to Doodad Pro even before he reached these limits. But his credit card was the gift that kept on giving. His most recent un-refunded contributions were on July 7, when he made 14 separate donations, apparently by credit card, of $25 each.
Just as with Mr. Good Will, there can be no doubt that the Obama campaign noticed the contributions, since its Sept. 20 report specified that Doodad’s cumulative contributions since the beginning of the campaign were $10,965.

I cannot believe all the negative responses to Mr. Obama. Republicans have been in control for eight and have gotten this wonderful country into the worst shape it has ever been in. The war has been messed up, the economy has been messed up, health care is messed up, huge tax breaks have been given to large corporations many that pay no taxes at all, our former allies now hate us and people don’t seem to care. Are we supposed to be hated by every country in the world? Isn’t there a chance that we can solve problems in a peaceful way? Something is wrong here. When something is wrong you don’t keep doing it over again, you change it.
Let’s stop fighting each other (which is what the big shots like) and change this country into one that we can be proud of again. Come on, we’re all in the same boat. We have the power. Let’s do something.

Change? How about this for change……I just don’t understand why people seem to forget this….
George Bush has been in office for almost 8 years. The first six the economy was fine, and then in 2006 the American public voted in a Democratic Congress.
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) the unemployment rate was 4.5%.
Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006:
1) Consumer confidence plummeted;
2) Gasoline soared to over $4 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
America voted for change in 2006, and we got it! I am not sure we can afford any more “Democratic Change”!!!!!

The press is actually hurting Obama by not covering him. People are going to other sources for news in droves. Maybe these stories are true, maybe they are not. John Edwards should be a lesson to them. His career is completely ruined and it is mostly because the press deliberately chose not to cover the story about his affair. The same will happen to Obama and it will end up hurting all of the black candidates in the future.

It is all of congress that has such a low approval rating. Demo’s may be in control, but don’t have enough votes to stop a filibuster or override a veto.
And this congress approval rating isn’t that much lower than the last GOP controlled one. Bills don’t pass unless there is bipartisan support not gridlock.

S. Adams…you should be ashamed of yourself using fear mongering and scare tactics to try and frighten people away from Sen. Obama. The Senator was 8 yrs. old when Bill Ayers did what he did. Mr. Ayers was then acquitted through the Judicial system and is now currently a professor at an esteemed university. They don’t hire convicted fellons to teach in the educational system. I’am not here though to defend Mr. Ayers past because I believe that much of what he did was despicable, but to try and destroy Barack Obama because he knows the man, accepted a $200.00 donation from him (which he promptly gave to a charity when all this bogus hoop-la surfaced),and served on the board of a charitable foundation is extremely thin. There have been no allegations of wrong doing made against Sen. Obama himself. Even if you bring up Jeremiah Wright who should not even be described as a “Christian” pastor…even ultra-conservative commentators on the right-winged Fox news when pressed admit that they do not at all believe that Senator Obama shares wright’s extreme views. The Senator (to his credit) has never said anything to make us think otherwise and appears to be trying to appeal to all Americans. Its not fair to marginalize him as some fringe loon just because he knew some people who may have done or said some really bad things. When will people like you do what MLK recommended and judge people not by some petty or surface issue but by the “content of their character”. It appears that some are all to ready to paint a grim and scary picture of the Mr. Obama based on the characters of others. I’am in no way comparing the Senator to Christ but in reading the scripture it is noteworthy that we should be careful whenever we condemn people with guilt by association. Mr. Obama has been just about crucified and has had his character sullied by Commentators like Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh over the course of the last 19 or so months but the same people then turn around and cry foul when they perceive that the so called liberal media is not being fair to Sarah Palin who was only introduced a mere 2 months or so ago before the general election. These are simply distractions the republicans want us to focus in on so that we will not notice the horrific shape our economy is in, the mismanagement of the Iraqi war, the horrible mismanagement of Katrina, the billions we continue to spend in Iraq each month, the record on torture, the almost forgotten Afghanistan conflict, and much more. They are scared that the American people will remember who has been in charge for the last 8 years. Republicans have controlled congress for 6 of the 8 years and the the White House for the entire 8. Even though the Democrats have controlled congress for the last 2…the veto power of President Bush makes them ineffective. We need change. They actually still believe that by cutting taxes of corporations…they create jobs because the leaderhip of the corporations will reinvest that money into the company to the benefit of the little man but what actually happens as we’ve seen on Wall Street is that they keep the money in the form of golden parachutes, the company suffers due to greed, and the jobs get shipped overseas or the company goes belly-up. Sen. Obamas ideas resignates because he believes that by cutting taxes on the middle class or giving tax rebates…they can pay their mortgages (thus, hindering or reversing the mortgage crisis) and then have money to buy products thus helping the national economy and even businesses. My hope is that people would truly wake up and forget about race and focus on the important issues and that fear of Rev. Wright will not cause them to vote for 4 more years of the same.

Pelosi is considered the worst Speaker of the House, in history. She is on her way out the door, and she and Obama share the same ideology.
Both have extreme liberal voting records and both have admitted to not be too “persuasive” when it comes to working with Republicans.
How is voting for Obama “Change”? We’ve had 2 yrs of democrats in Congress and we are sick of it already. Can you people really stand another 4 yrs of this?
McCain has a proven record of working with both sides of the aisle. He has voted with Democrats many times and is why the Conservatives in Washington are leery of him. He has disagreed with Bush on many occasions. How many times has Obama disagreed with his party? Never.

GoBama…be for real!
When Pelosi took over as speaker and the democratic congress, gas has increased by over $3 a gallon and oil up well over $78 per barrell. We have the DemWits and Pelosi to thank for this. Now, Obama is so far up Pelosi’s butt, he has become her “puppet”. Obama can’t think on his own……Pelosi rules him…he doesn’t have the b@lls to disagree with her.

Can you imagine a Democratic controlled congress with Pelosi and a Democratic Obama administration? These thugs will ruin the country with their corrupt and leftist behavior.

Posted by: America First | October 2, 2008, 2:11 pm 2:11 pm

Lester–That was a big empty speech you gave there and all patently false. Take off the rose colored glasses and do your research.
1. Obama and Ayers have a long relationship. There are documents that have been released outlining just how closely aligned the two are. There is just too much information to list here. If you care you’ll investigate for yourself. They also worked closely with ACORN and granted money to radical leftist activists causes. All documented.
2. Obama’s 2 books were based on Rev Wrights idealogy and is full of racist statements, such as “White man’s greed puts the world in need”. He sat in Trinity for 20 yrs listening to the racist, radical and anti-american comments of his pastor and obviously agreed because he stayed with him for 20 years!
3. I judge Obama on his liberal positions and failure to work with both sides of the aisle. His character leaves little to be desired. He has completely flip-flopped on every issue that got him to where he is today. I have seen him change his positions depending on who his audience is.
4. Now let’s not forget that Obama is being endorsed by terrorist groups and terror organizations that fund these groups. He is endorsed by the terrorist countries like Iran and Venezuela.
I vote on the issues, not the color of the candidate’s skin, unlike most of the democrats voting for him. I do not vote blindly. I care about my country too much.

Momof2: I want everyone to go back and listen to the way we all speak to each other, we should all be ashamed. Is this what we teach our children? Personally I see the lack of respect for our fellow human beings everywhere I go, the sad state of elections is just another place. Nothing will change in this life if we don’t stop acting like, teenagers. I don’t care if your republican, democrat, black, white, rich or poor if we can’t treat each other with respect the base of the building blocks disintegrates and you can’t build a tower. Any 3 year old will teach you that. Ask question, form opinions but PLAY NICE!
Well when you look at who is running our country and putting us into economic disaster, how do expect anyone to play nice. Obama is in on the economic crisis. Both the CEO’s of Freddie Mac & Fannie Mae are on his payroll and election committee. He got a lower interest rate on his own home, he is for partial birth abortion where the kill the baby as it is coming out of the Mother! Obamba is not for the people, he is for himself, he wants us to be a socialist country so that he and other Democrats can tell us what to do and how to do it. Wake Up! And as for reddog0216 you are exactly right and cudos to you! You people need to check out other stations instead of these Liberal based arenas that only play sound-bites of Obama’s speaches. You do need to check out you tube dot com because it states it all there including Obama stating that he is in on the mess that we are in now! Check out cspan
Angie:
Quit walking around with head up your butt and check some of these sites out, then you tell me one thing that Obama has even mentioned regarding change, have you every heard of anything? No, he just states he is for change. Who in the hell knows exactly what that means, it could be bad change. You need to get some facts before spouting off at the mouth.

So what got us here? Well, you can say “white guilt” got us here, political correctness got us here, or a combination of all those things. Democrats’ desire to socialize the country got us here. Efforts to stop it failing — and we’re on the verge of even more of it, ladies and gentlemen. Stanley Kurtz has been researching Obama, and he has a great piece today. Let me just give you a couple excerpts. “What exactly does a ‘community organizer’ do?” and one thing a community organizer does, if he’s Barack Obama, is pressure banks to make bad loans. Obama’s fingerprints are over this, too, because his group ACORN is all involved. The Community Reinvestment Act “was meant to encourage banks to make loans to high-risk borrowers, often minorities living in unstable neighborhoods. That has provided an opening to radical groups like ACORN (the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now), and a group that is constantly engaged in illegal voter registration, among other things.

don’t be sore, @sorenhawk…it’s clear enough that since McCain doesn’t know anything useful to modern Americans, and Palin knows even less, name-calling and race considerations are beside the point…we need someone in charges who has a clue what the average (read modern) American has to contend with. I was in Vietnam, too, but that doesn’t qualify me to be commander of anything. I’ve been to Alaska, and though I couldn’t see Russia from where I was, that doesn’t make me a foreign policy expert. This is what I want the media to cover!!!!!!!!

I can’t for the life of me figure out why the media is pushing for Obama to win this election. Can you imagine if someone running for president was friends with David Duke for 20 years, what the media would do to him. I see many double standards not only because he is a man but especially because he is black. Rezko, Ayers, Wright, Pflger, need I say more. I will. When a crisis arises, where is Obama? You don’t hear from him for two days. Why? Then he just repeats what someone on the news or other member of his party has already said. The man cannot make a decision alone. Just look at his voting record. PRESENT!

So many hateful, nasty Obama supporters, and you’re all so confident. It really frightens me what will happen if Obama does win – I remember the gloating, the abuse and the name-calling to Hillary Clinton supporters then.
What a great reflection you are on your candidate. What a sad “change” for our country – that people who act like you will be the “majority.”

Linda,
Get your head out of your A$S and get your news from good sources.
Why dont you check McCains voting record?
He was always FOR de-regulations and tax-cuts. Look what happened!
Feel ashamed of yourself for being a MORON.

Yes Denise, businesses have many loopholes. The fact remains though until congress sews up the loopholes, businesses will just pass the cost unto you. This is fact that Obama doesn’t tell anyone about. If he wins the election and raises the business tax, just wait until you go to the grocery store or the mall and see how prices have gone up. Right now this is something that most Americans can’t afford.

Two posts from ‘angie’: “reddog
please explain to me how you are gonna win? You have just as much brains as your vp canidate, gramps is slipping and slipping hard why would anyone trust a man that has STATED TIME AND TIME AGAIN HE DOESNT KNOW ABOUT THE ECONOMY? and why would anyone trust a woman that cant answer a simple question without frying her brain? LIKE I SAID AMERICANS HAVE WOKEN UP I SUGGEST YOU DO THE SAME GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOU A$$!” and “RED DOG
Mccain has been in senate for 26 years 26 YEARS MY FRIEND and just two years ago he forseen this event please DO NOT TAKE ME FOR AN IDIOT LIKE YOUR VP CANIDATE!”

See the problem I have with you calling Sarah Palin or anyone else an idiot is the old saying, “People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw rocks.”
Before you call someone else – who, by the way, you don’t even know and whom you obviously have preconceived prejudices against – an “idiot,” maybe you should learn how to spell and speak proper English:
-CANDIDATE, not canidate
-”he foreseen”? (how about he foresaw?)
-doesn’t and can’t have apostophes
Normally I don’t pick apart posts, but with someone who is on here calling others who don’t agree with her idiots and other names really needs to go redirect her hatred and anger elsewhere. Unfortunately, you are a prime example of what I’ve seen in Obama supporters – and if you are the “CHANGE” Obama represents, NO THANK YOU.

Fact One: People who can only quote Fox News and spout their distorted facts have empty heads.
Fact Two: Fox (Faux) News is so slanted they have lost all credibility.
Fact Three: If you want to make an intelligent comments then consider the real facts… the present administration has taken this country in the wrong direction and John McCain wants to “stay the course.”

Fact Four: Obama is a Harward graduate and McCain is a dumb senile old guy.
Fact Five: Palin has absolutely NO intelligence to run a country. She even sucks at giving BS!
Fact Six: Both, McCain and Palin are masters at being deceitful. They will always side step an issue.
Fact Seven: McCain is a BIG flip-flopper. He has flipped-flopped on so many things…hell, he even changed his campaign slogon to match with Barak. He has NO ideas of his own.

I completely agree with you that Bush has taken this country in the wrong direction. I believe he has destroyed this country and our reputation around the world. BUT I don’t blame McCain.
I am a democrat or I should say I was until this election. What has been exposed about Obama, I cannot vote for the man. With his past associations I cannot trust him in the White House.

I consider the following sources are very Un-Biased for my news:
NPR, BBC, Christian Monitor, Voice of America.
McCain had NO distinction for ANY kind of regulation. He was for DE-REGULATION.
PERIOD.
He and ALL the Republicans ARE the cause of this Financial meltdown.
I hope they broil in HELL as my retirement money has vaporised!

Clinton Administration Changes of 1995
In early 1993 President Clinton ordered new regulations for the CRA which would increase access to mortgage credit for inner city and distressed rural communities.[7] The new rules went into effect on January 31, 1995 and featured: requiring numerical assessments to get a satisfactory CRA rating; using federal home-loan data broken down by neighborhood, income group, and race; encouraging community groups to complain when banks were not loaning enough to specified neighborhood, income group, and race; allowing community groups that marketed loans to targeted groups to collect a fee from the banks.[5]
Other loans increased by only 17 percent

GW Bush Administration Changes of 2005
In 2002 there was an inter-agency review of the effectiveness of the 1995 regulatory changes to the Community Reinvestment Act and new proposals were considered.[5] The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, and the Office of the Controller of the Currency put new regulations into effect September of 2005.[9] The regulations were opposed by a contingent of Democrats because the action “undercuts the statutory purpose of the Act for institutions to meet the needs of low and moderate-income persons and communities by OTS.”[10]
The regulations included less restrictive new definitions of “small” and “intermediate small” banks.[2] “Intermediate small banks” were defined as banks with assets of less than $1 billion, but allows banks to opt for examination as a large bank.[9] Currently banks with assets greater than $1.061 billion have their CRA performance evaluated according to lending, investment and service tests. The agencies use the Consumer Price Index to adjust the asset size thresholds for small and large institutions annually.[5

For someone who may not understand they lowered the standards so low and middle income families could get a house .Problem was they put a demand in the housing market which caused prices to rise.Then when the people who got mortgages they did not deserve defaulted, you get what we have now

McCain campaign is full of deception and time has come to give some credit to Obama over McCain – Open your eyes America – McCain presidency would not allow 8 yers of corruption tactics to surface and that’s why Bush supports McCain 100%. If Obama comes, we would be able to hear the fate of millions of mismanaged funds. After a while, lets vote for another Republican to understand what Obama has done in his power, so that we can make the judgement. McCain should retire – He is too old and that beauty queen is not VP material.

When was he ever a nice guy? I didn’t see it!

Posted by: carlyonsue | October 2, 2008, 5:46 pm 5:46 pm

Obama = Brilliant, inspiring, and thoughtful. He’s patient and shows great judgement, beyond his years.
McCain = Impatient, Gambling, out-of-control, and wrong track. He is patriotic, funny, and a good man.
I see Obama taking us somewhere good. I don’t see the same for McCain anymore. He may not have served in the Military, but for the first time my whole family (Brother who is an intelligence agent for Army and my dad Ex-Marine Vietnam Recon) are all voting Democratic! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and values of course.
Vote on the issues and their grasp of the issues. Not “oh he or she is so much like me!” This is the most difficult job in the land, and we should set the bar HIGH!!! THE BEST. Don’t make excuses. There are HUGE differences between their stances on issues. They’re all good people though, so stop spreading lies.

Obama is nothing but a fast talking con man who’s only accomplishment if elected will be to raise our taxes another 800 billion! Please don’t fall for his smooth, fast talk! Remember this is the guy who wanted to sit back and “monitor the situation” instead of going to Washington and trying to do something about the current financial situation! Even if McCain didn’t do much after he got to Washington he did at least love his country enough to suspend his campaign and go back to Washington. Obama just wanted to sit on his butt!

Posted by: carlyonsue | October 2, 2008, 5:58 pm 5:58 pm

The gibberish is mind boggling
1.Obama has 3 Muslim names? Did you pick your name? I didn’t pick mine.
2. Obama lies? Then why has EVERY news agency commented on how dirty McCain’s campaign is?
3. Obama is out of touch with people? Uhhhmmmm – apparently, you have not watched McCain’s interview from Desmoines where he ranted and raved about what a great job his buddy Henry Paulson has been doing as Treasury secretary. Paulson??? Really? Is that sort of like Bush saying “Good job, Brownie” after FEMA’s disasterous handling of Katrina.

Conservatives MUST hate Obama, and the democrats. Why? Because the events of the last 7 years have shown that the entire ideology they bought into, the people they trusted, the causes they believed in, are completely morally bankrupt. Trickle down economics screwed them, deregulation lost them their jobs, abortion is still legal even with bullet proof majorities, same with pornography. Their big leaders: DeLay, Gonzales, et. al. are criminals and their mouthpieces, like Craig, are closet homosexuals. I love republican panic, it smells like victory.

We still dont know who Obama realy is. We dont even know for sure if he is an American citizen. And he is telling his supporters to get into the faces of people who is not supporting him, and terrorize them. How can the American people trust this guy to be a commender in cheif?

You Republicans say if Obama wins he will raise taxes and jobs will be lost. Well supposedly Bush lowered taxes and guess what?? Jobs were lost! Over 600,000 jobs this year. Wake up saps. If you are earning under $200,000 you have no economic interest in voting Republican. The GOP distracts you with guns, abortion and gays while undermining you economically with their tax breaks for the rich and legislation that favors big corporations and management over the workers. What a bunch of suckers you workers who vote Republican are!!!

Hey BlaHisBlo:
You spewed so many lies that I won’t be able to debunk all of them here, but I would like to point out that you are wrong about Illinois being the state with the most crime:
“The highest total crime rate of any state, except for the District of Columbia, was found in Arizona, followed by South Carolina. The crime rate in Arizona was 46.82% above the national average and three and half (3.5) times as high as that of New Hampshire, America’s safest state. The homicide rate was highest in the District of Columbia and Louisiana, as both states are home to some of the most violent areas in the entire country, namely eastern Washington, D.C. and the city of New Orleans. Overall there were six states with fewer than two homicides per 100,000 residents. Yet there were also eight states with more than seven homicides per 100,000 residents. These findings further illustrate the drastic degree to which crimes rates vary from state to state.”
When stating something as FACT, it is usually helpful to include something called A SOURCE. Citing sources usually increases something called CREDIBILITY. I got my info from fbi.gov, which is — you guessed it — the official website of the frickin’ FBI. Which sources did you use? Oh yeah– you didn’t.
Funny that Arizona (MCCAIN’s state) and not Illinois is the state with the highest crime, huh?
BlahHisBro– Barack Hussein Obama is going to be the next president of the United States whether you like it or not. You will have to either face your racism head-on or get the hell out of the country. Either is fine with me.
