Oh, That Joe! (No. 28 in a Series) — Bonding With Buckeye Staters, Biden Recounts Being Detained By a Cop as a College Kid
At the Athens County Fairgrounds in Athens, Ohio, this morning, Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., offered this tale for the ages.
"It’s good to be back in Athens," said the Veep nominee to the crowd of roughly 2,000. "Now you say, ‘Back in Athens, Biden, when were you here?’ Well, I went to the University of Delaware and we came out here to play Ohio University. Now, that was 228 years ago and we did just fine, but the thing I loved about the university was that it was such a beautiful town and we all hung around out afterwards.
"Now, I made a little mistake here that day," admitted the loquacious Blue Hen. "I made a little mistake. I wandered in, I met this lovely group of Ohio University students and uh, without knowing it, I shouldn’t admit this on national television because it’ll reveal that I’m over 60, but I thought that we were gonna go get something to eat. What’s that street you have down there, all you guys?"
Court Street, yelled the crowd, referring to the lane where all the bars are.
"See, I … and so, I just said to young, two young women I had met, said, ‘Well, why don’t you, we’ll be right back.’
"I said, ‘Well, I’ll come with you.’
"And they said, ‘OK.’
"And I walked into their dormitory and was immediately accosted by a cop who arrested me because, back in those days, men were not allowed in women’s dormitories.
"But I promise you, I never breached the first floor and it was only a temporary detention.
"But that’s what I most remember about Athens," Biden said, laughing.
"So, folks, look, it’s good to be back here."

Tapper, Columbus’ Ohio State University is “buckeye stater” land … Athens is not. We’re practically West Virginia. Don’t yall have enough Scripps graduates there to tell you that? Ask Asa.
That said, I doubt Joe’s tale went over well with a regional population that pretty much can’t stand OU students. But I love him anyhow. Your series trying to chase the “foot-in-mouth” story has not come up with much. You’d do better to chase gaffe-bot Palin.

Do you really want to vote for Obama?
Obama’s political career goes as follows:
1) Election for IL Senate, manages to disqualify thousands of signatures and eliminates the imcumbent Alice Palmer.Obama gets elected.
2) US Senate, his democratic opponent during the primary a Mr Hull, gets eliminated once messy divorce papers surface.
3) US Senate general election, a Mr Ryan a republican has to drop from the race because messy divorce papers surface. Obama gets elected.
4) Career in the senate,140 days and he declares himself a candidate for president of the USA. His work in the Senate is insignificant and has not proven his worth to be a Senator much less to be President.
5) Presidential Presidential primaries. All parties questioning his honesty and truthfullness are accused of being racist. Overtakes Hillary by gaining caucus states, using radical students,Move on and Daily kos goons that intimidate older voters at voting places. Loses almost all big states and general primary elections. Becomes Domocratic nominee.
5) General election. Continues to lie, accuses critics of being racists, fudges the truth, dismisses shady associations with radicals and socialists terrorists and priests as insignificant. Adding to his mirage,he gets help from the media and socialist billionaires and Chicago bosses to boost his image. He hopes to be elected president. Talk about the Manchurian Candidate.
People vote for McCain a true American hero.

Probably something Biden lifted from a police blotter concerning a student in some other location. No, I should not accuse anyone, especially Joe Biden, of stealing other folks material. Heck, makes you think I’m calling him a plagiarizer.

I guess the press feels like they have to pick on Biden, so that they don’t look biased for exposing Palin’s MANY, GLARING weaknesses, but it is getting a little petty IMO.

If the vote in Ohio and Indiana is close, as it surely will be, will the results be believable? Will the citizens of those states feel confident that their vote was counted fairly? If the outcome in either of those states determines the outcome in the electoral college, will the entire country feel confident that our election was fair and legitimate?
This is YET ANOTHER example of the PROFOUND FAILURE of Howard’s leadership of our party. In a democratic society it is both reckless and irresponsible to pursue a “win at any cost” strategy. Why didn’t Howard tell Obama to tell ACORN to knock it off?
If there is chaos on election day, and if (god forbid) the nation is forced to relive the 2000 post-election nightmare because of credible evidence of WIDESPREAD VOTER FRAUD, it will be Howard, Obama’s, and the DONC’s fault.
What the hell were they thinking anyway? That the republicans would be too intimidated to fight back? Too dazzled by the Messiah?
Amateurs.

Kirsten Powers,
Yes I do want to vote for Obama, and will
1)WAS DONE FAIR AND SQUARE!
2)FAIR AND SQUARE
3)DID OBAMA RELAEASE THE PAPERS? Maybe No! you don’t know!
4)It is legal and he can do what ever he choses to do!
5)Because they were, you know it. Look at you how you are acting. And as much as you don’t like it, he won fair and square against Hilliary. What are you trying to tell me, that with All you haters out there, are you saying that NOW, a BLACK MAN can now cheat and win the primary, GET REAL!!!
5)When did he lie? You are doing a very good job of doing that,so He really hasn’t had to, and hasn’t.Do you know everything about your friends, co-workers,neighbors? No,so if you are advocating for guilt by association, then you sure had better know who you are hanging out with and keep in mind there are a lot of other people who gave William Ayers a clean bill of health, long before Senator Obama came along.
6)Sound like you do have some issues, so take my advice:
Don’t Hate the Player, Hate the Game!!!!

Amateurs? I think not. Professionals in the ongoing institution of voter fraud tactics perfected over time in two of our older Citites: Chicago and New Orleans, where Acorn’s founder Wade Rathke’s brother is on trial for embezzlement of $1,000,000.00 from ACORN..and what does the National Acorn board say?…Stunned..did not know anything about it until now…Where o ACORN and WHERE O Howard and Where OBINGO are the everyday standard accounting and legal procedures at least at minimum, once a year of AN OUTSIDE INDEPENENDENT AUDIT OF BUDGET AND FUND MANAGEMENT? and Where O Where all of you thieves, crooks and FRAUDS ….were you?
Most importantly, Where are the attorneys to sue for the pulling of ACORN’s CHARTER AS A NON-PROFIT
AT STATE LEVELS AND WHERE OH WHERE ARE THE ATTORNEYS TO SUE FOR THE SAME REGARDING ACORN SO CALLED SUBSIDIARY NON-PROFITS?

CHECK OUT THESE NEWS FROM THE
Washington Times:
Democratic vice-presidential candidate Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. has paid more than $2 million in campaign cash to his family members, their businesses and employers over the years, a practice that watchdogs criticize as rife with potential conflicts of interest.
Getty Images FAMILY: Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s son, Hunter Biden, was at a campaign stop with his father in December. The candidate’s sister, Valerie Biden Owens, is his longtime campaign manager.
The money largely flowed from the coffers of Mr. Biden’s failed presidential campaign during the past two years to a company that employs his sister and longtime campaign manager, Valerie Biden Owens, according to campaign disclosure filings.
The senator from Delaware also directed campaign legal work to a Washington lobbying and law firm founded by his son R. Hunter Biden, the disclosures show.
ISN’T THAT SPECIAL?

From the WSJ: “Then there’s Lake County, Indiana, which has already found more than 2,100 bogus applications among the 5,000 Acorn dumped right before the deadline. ‘All the signatures looked exactly the same,’ said Ruthann Hoagland, of the county election board. Bridgeport, Connecticut estimates about 20% of Acorn’s registrations were faulty. As of July, the city of Houston had rejected or put on hold about 40% of the 27,000 registration cards submitted by Acorn.”

ACORN led voter fraud is now being investigated in ten states: Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, Connecticut, Missouri, Texas, Florida, New Mexico, North Carolina, and Indiana. Swing states all (well, no offense to Connecticut, but the Constitution State is likely NOT a key battleground this year, but I digress). Is it a coincidence that the Obama Machine paid Acorn EIGHT HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS to buy register new votes in critical swing states?
Posted by: HP Boston | October 15, 2008, 1:09 pm 1:09 pm
Dee: They won’t do anything about it. Heck. Good old McCain thinks they have said and done no wrong. He actually said this morning that he can’t control what some of his followers say. He also had the nerve to say Obama was at fault for it all, that he is the one running off at the mouth.
Posted by: beck | October 15, 2008, 1:10 pm 1:10 pm
And the jokers from ACORN who told the nation yesterday that a) it’s not their fault if the people they hire to invent register new voters “steal” from them by passing in phony registration cards, and b) anyway the fraudulent registrations are only a tiny fraction of the massive number of new registrations ACORN has collected.
Yeah, right. In my math book 40% is NOT a tiny fraction. Neither is 20%; nor is 100% as has been reported in one Indiana county.
Not a tiny fraction. A tiny fraction is more like 3% or maybe even 6%, or to put it in practical terms, a tiny fraction is an amount that will have no discernible impact on the outcome. If close to HALF of the new registrations in Ohio and Indiana are fraudulent then we have a disaster in the making.

HP Boston: We got it. ACORN… We also watch the news, maybe you don’t. They pointed out the fact that ACORN offices are the ones who reported the documents, they also pay people working for them by the total number of people registering, so even though those are false documents I highly doubt it if the building called Jimmy Johns Subway sandwich is going to show up on Nov. 4th to vote. They are not real people, they are made up, they won’t be there on Nov 4th to vote…. get it now???

HP,
Please explain exactly how any VOTER fraud can occur.
No ID, no vote. Is that really hard to understand?
Voter SUPPRESSION may become an issue when GOP lawyers try to prevent thousands of legitimate voters the right to vote (as they did in FL in 2000 and OH in 2004).

PALIN UNAWARE OF RUSSIAN OIL MEETING IN ALASKA………Palin has argued that her state’s proximity to Russia, as well as trade missions between Alaska and Russia, have helped give her the foreign policy experience necessary to be Vice President. Great News for McCain!
If McCain doesn’t attack Obama on non-issues (like Ayres)…he’ll seem weak to his supporters and he loses.
If McCain attacks Obama on non-issues (like Ayres)…he turns off all the other voters and he loses.
His pick of Palin made the “experience” argument a moot point. HUGE mistake!
Ironically, McCain wanted Liberman, he was TOLD to take Palin. Not a very “mavericky” move I must say.

I love Joe. Now that GW Bush has led us into a sink-hole, it will at least be nice to have someone in the White House who can tell a good joke or story now and then.
One of the economists who predicted the banking crisis a few years back now says that given the current conditions we’ll be headed for 18-24 months of the worst recession to hit America in 40 years.
Looks like we’re going to need some good jokes to get thru that.

Obama and Biden are gentlemen and I trust them totally in seats of power. McCain is hot tempered and we can see how Palin abuses her power so they would be the ones likely to retaliate. kirsten – you really want McCain/Palin in. You say Obama lies, what about them??? Experience – Palin mayor of a town of 5,000 – left them 22 million in debt. Govenor 19 months – abused her powers and Todd using her office for his use? Took her 6 years to finish college, several different ones.
McCain keeps on with his war record, that is great, but needs to face issues not this. What about his past dealings?
They count just as much as Obama’s. He’s voted with Bush on my issues, now denies it. What his cheating on his ex-wife, Cindy drug addicted – steeling drugs from where she supposedly volunteered, good record.
Think about it.

Question:
Where will Crazy Joe go after losing the election?
Answer:
Probably to a run down strip club where he will do stand up comedy between performances.
Comment:
No wonder Crazy Joe only got 1% of the votes in the primaries, he’s just crazy.

If this is the worst thing that Joe Biden has ever done… it makes the abuse of power verdict of Pistol-Packin’Palin even worse by comparison!
Palin is a grown-up version of the Little Girl Schoolyard Bully who will hit and throw rocks and mud at the boys because she knows that the boys have been told not to hit girls. but will boo-hoo home when someone knocks the wind out of her in retaliation.
