“Alexander Fraser Tyler, Cycle of Democracy (1770)

“I cannot in good conscience support a tax cut in which so many of the benefits go to the most fortunate among us at the expense of middle class Americans who most need tax relief,”
NOW WAS THIS SEN McCAIN OR CANDIDATE McCAIN? I CAN NEVER TELL ANYMORE?
Socialism is chosen by some as an artificial means of controlling unemployment and poverty. The problem with this noble effort is that time after time, in national experiment after experiment, it actually creates more unemployment and more poverty. The key element of socialism, redistribution of wealth, actually reduces the incentive for those who create jobs by growing businesses and making wealth for themselves. When the incentive is removed, as there can be no success in business, the effort dwindles and the economy shrinks. The shrinking economy fosters more government programs, and greater protectionism. More government programs means taking more from those who “have it” and giving it to others, until the loss in incentive becomes a vicious cycle. As protectionism grows, the cost of imported goods rises, and the ability to export diminishes, further restricting jobs, increasing unemployment, and increasing the price of goods and services. The vicious cycle continues

if Senator Obama and the Senate and House Democrats win, it will be the end of the trail for capitalism. The secular progressive movement, led by George Soros and his minions, has been funneling money into the Democratic Party and to its candidates for some time now, with the intent on building a slate of Senators and Representatives who are decidedly socialists by nature. The crowning achievement for the movement was the support provided a Senator chosen early on for his socialist beliefs to run for President, Barack Obama. Read: Soros poised for payback on his political investment an editorial from the The Examiner.
George Soros will now have a superhighway to Change – Socialist Change. We will see wealth redistribution on a grand scale – Obama said it himself recently when he told a hard working self employed plumber that he will experience wealth distribution – his wealth will go to some one else. We will see the single largest growth in government in the history of this nation. We will expand the culture that people are not accountable to themselves or to others and that regardless of their actions, government will attempt to take care of them, albeit in a grossly inefficient manner. Who will be the arbiter of just how much wealth will be redistributed at any time?

Granted it has been doctored and changed over the years, but used by many. Does the authorship make it any less true. It is given here as a reason to think even more about the direction we are going for this election

Veteran,
What you fail to ackowledge is that the wealth HAS ALREADY been redistributed.
In just eight years, the top 5% of Americans have doubled their holding. The middle class has actually seen a reduction in both their wages and their savings.
THAT’S WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION. But just because no one has put a “scary” word like “socialism” with it, you think that’s ok?
The tax rates Obama suggests are the very same we had just eight years ago. Was it “socialist” then? NO!
Everything that you Pubs are saying is rhetorical BS spewed out by McParrot just to make you afraid. Just like Bush did!
McCain SUPPORTED THE EXACT SAME TAX STRUCTURE in 2000. Was he a “socialist” back then?
(And the plumber is not self employed. He works for someone. He lied about his status and he lied about his ability to buy a business. In reality, he would be better off with Obama’s tax plan. That’s the great part, he’s too dumb to realize why he is even voting for McCain.)
Comrade McCain
My problem with Obama is he is giving his followers visions of dollar signs in their eyes. Look at the expected tax charts and the low to middle income won’t receive much. When he repeals the tax cuts in place now you will actually have less. Get your heads out of the sand and really look at the figures.

“Where are we now in the cycle? Dependency”
No; I think we are still in the selfishness phase.
Witness all the greed at the top to support this contention.
Obama jumped the shark when he threw his poor old granny under the bus. Did you notice this week he announced several days in advance that he was going to visit the old granny on her deathbed over the weekend? And then he danced in celebration like a goose when he is supposedly in this mournful period. Notice he’s going to visit granny on the weekend. Looks like a weekend getaway to Hawaii. Who is footing that bill? Suckas.
Lets see here. Obama wants to tax the companies that provide you with a job. This makes the cost of doing business go up. Consequences: 1) If your company matches you a certain percentage in your 401k that may decrease. 2) You may be unlikely to get a raise any time soon. 3) If your company is already struggling you may get laid off. At least one of the previous three is likely to happen. 4) The price of the company’s goods will go up, thus inflation increases. This is a fact. What happens to you: your grocery bills go higher.
What happened to Reagan economics? Keep taxes low, jobs will increase. Keep the middle man (the government) out as much as possible because this only increases costs to you. You would get a better price for the same product if government were left out. Then govt. could not spend your hard earned money on things like studying the mating habits of crabs, rather than what they said they would spend it on (i.e. healthcare).
What are the problems with this country. Govt. raised taxes, businesses shipped jobs overseas. Govt. through thirty years (not just 8) of poor regulation and not enough strong regulations were largely responsible for the current financial crisis.
Obama wants to tax households that make $250,00 per annum. Not just individuals, but households. Most of the people I know that make that type of money are doctors, lawyers, and small business owners who work 60+ hours per week. These people already pay in taxes roughly 60% of their income after federal taxes, state taxes, local taxes, sales taxes, etc. are factored in. This leaves these couples with $100,000 per year. These people also live in areas with the highest cost of living and therefore need a larger salary just to stay even with couples living in an area with a low cost of living. These people also put themselves massively in debt to serve you as your doctor, lawyer, or employer. Their graduate college alone cost them around $100,000 per person. They are paying off home loans, car loans, utility bills, grocery bills, college loans, etc while trying to save/or pay for their children’s undergraduate school (in which they receive no financial aid), all while saving for retirement.
These people may make more than you, but they’re making more because they took more risks, went more heavily into debt so they could reach their dreams, and in the end are not really any better of than you. Yet you call them rich. Rich is a million dollars a year. Rich is making more than what your work is actually worth. Rich are the hollywood stars that spend a million dollars on one outfit or the Ceos who make 90 million per year while running the companies into the ground. Tax them, but you should not be taxing those who work hard and achieve their goals of making a good life for themselves and their families.
I don’t know about you, but while many struggle, some don’t strive to do better. I do not want to be spending my tax dollars or anyone else’s money on those individuals that don’t work to attain a better position, because Obama is willing to take your money and give it to the other guy.
Yeah for socialism or class warfare.
Obama has given his supporters hope- for change. No one I know is talking about dollar signs. They are talking about hope and change in America. Progressive taxation created the American middle class. The wealthy pay more than the impoverished. The middle class is shrinking because the tax relief is unfairly shifted toward the waelthy. this is a part of a theory called trinkle down economics. It is a theory that values deregulation of industry. It is the the tax policy of the last 8 years that is shrinking the middle class. Are you better off today?
Don’t beleive the socialism crap. there is nothing socialist about the democratic economic plan. Go to the Obama website for details. Don’t believe the sound bites. Vote for Obama 08. Vote now. Vote early. Vote on November 4th- lower taxes- fighting for America- and the middle class.
Before you ask, I only make $25,000 per year as I just entered the job market after college. My mother was a school teacher forced to become a home depot sales associate and my father is an inspector who lost over half his retirement funds after his company went chapter 11. I am not wealthy, nor do I come from wealth. I just don’t envy those who work hard and make it, nor do I expect those people to take care of me. I take responsibility for myself and therefore do not have this vendetta against the rich. I don’t believe in trickle up or trickle down economics. I believe in keeping congress away from hard earned dollars just to give that money to themselves and whomever they deem worthy. So far both parties judgement on who is worthy has been very faulty.
Is Governor Palin a feminist? During her interview with Katie Couric, Katie said “do you consider yourself a feminist?” Governor Palin said “I do, a feminist that…”. In the Brian Williams interview, Brian asked “Governor are you a feminist”? Governor Palin said ” I am not going to label myself Brian and that what annoys Americans”. That seems extremely odd, especially since the interviews happened within weeks. It would seem you are either a feminist or you are not.
Obama gave millions to ACORN, rather than give the money designated for education to programs that show (have evidence) that they help students improve their math and science scores.
Obama was incorrect on the surge and incorrect on how to deal with Russia when Russia invaded the country of Georgia. For those against Iraq: you may not like the reason for why we went in. But we have practically defeated Al Qaeda within that country, we got rid of a dictator who is responsible for the deaths of 500,000 people, we improved the lives of women within Iraq, we have funded schooling for Iraqi children, and have provided a lot of humanitarian relief.
Obama spent millions in his little section of Chicago, yet standard of living, crime rate, and education did not improve.
Obama gave $70,000 to Rashid Khalidi who ran an organization that supports anti-western terrorism and prays for a second holocaust. Thus Obama legitimized Khalidi’s power and ideals.
Obama gives hope through speeches, but fails to deliver the right change. Who else did this? I’ll give you a hint, they are not favored in our world’s history and some are still living, hated by their people.
Anyone keeping up with the election and campaigns for president knows that Barack Obama has been touting his plan of cutting taxes for the middle class and raising taxes for the rich folks. McCain’s plan is… well, there is no plan. McCain will not raise or lower taxes for anyone and keep it as is. New Orleans Hornets baller Tyson Chandler met Obama at a rally last week and then wrote about his thoughts on the whole tax situation on his NBA blog, and brought up a couple of good points.
“The way I look at it is that I can afford to pay more in taxes,” Chandler wrote. “But my parents, my grandparents, my cousins … with what they make, they can’t afford to cut back in their household with what they’re trying to survive with. I can afford to make cuts and still survive. They can’t take that knock.”
“I think that’s what’s going on now and the reason why the middle class is struggling so much,” he continued. “The upper class, we can take that hit. Obviously, nobody wants to take it, but we still can. And we can afford to live nice lives.”
“I’ve lived in both situations. And not only that, I’m obviously the only one in my family that can say that I’m a millionaire. I’ve seen my entire family struggle. So, would I rather see my whole family struggle while I get a break, or have me not get a break while the rest of my family gets one? I’ll take my entire family getting a break.”

Mikah your tax dollars are needed for roads, schools, hospitals, libraries, airports and so on . . AND to pay off the huge debt the Republicans continue to ring up higher and higher every day.
That’s why the payment of those costs has to be spread around. If I had my way all those CEO’s and Halliburton executives who’ve made a killing would have to give all but a decent yearly salary back. All of them!
Starting with the Bush family and the Cheney’s and moving along from there.
Depends on your definition of feminism. I consider myself a feminist but then I see other’s definition of feminism and I hate it. Therefore the label of feminist no longer applies.
So good, I will post it again.

Republicans, classy as always:
DES MOINES, Iowa — Republican U.S. Senate challenger Christopher Reed is accusing fellow Navy veteran and Democrat Sen. Tom Harkin of aiding the enemy because of his call to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq on a scheduled timetable.
In a taped debate scheduled to air Thursday night on Iowa Public Television, Reed calls Harkin the “Tokyo Rose” of Al Qaeda and Middle East terrorism.
The term refers to Japanese women who broadcast anti-American messages in English to U.S. troops during World War II.
Reed says he is not accusing Harkin of treason but says he is giving opposition forces “the playbook.”
After the debate, Harkin called Reed’s comments “beyond the pale,” and says Reed has lost his bearings.
The electorate is fed up with the Republicans in the White House, and is about to boot them out.
It will be a Democratic landslide win. The electorate has had it with the last 8 years of the Republicans. They’re on their way out.
Matlock endorses Obama.
Game over for McCain with majority of senior citizens.

I have no problem paying taxes for infrastructure, schools, etc. I have a problem when my tax dollars are given away to those who do not work hard and for projects like funding cab research, or bailing out the government who does not spend money wisely. The government says they will use this dollar and spend it on education. But in truth a good percentage is actually going to ACORN or bailing out Barney or any other place, rather than to the schools.
Mikah you will be paying for what the current Republican administration has done for years to come . . . and those BILLIONs and BILLIONS did not go to ACORN . . . it all went to the Bush family and their oil, banking and military/industrial pals . . . tax dollars to war and oil profit.
I also have a problem when people sitting in toll booths make $70,000 per year plus benefits because it is a govt. job when teachers, mechanics, and nurses with 10 yrs experience make half that.
Hmmm… Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, and Barack Obama are not republicans. Billions were spent on the Iraq war, but Obama wants to do the same in Afghanistan and Pakistan so that point is mute.

Don’t worry about some guy sitting in a toll booth. Take a look at the larger picture.
Republicans are also not in power, the democrats are. I don’t care who the president is, Congress has the real power.

vote for us in the hope that one day you will be rich.
vote for us because if you vote for the dems, you will never be rich like us, because the dems will take it away.
just as the republican used and fooled the evangelicals with the social wedge issues, the rebublicans, with the karl rove at the head swiftboated the evangelicals into voting for bush.
these people never ever thought about voting for their wallet.
same as today.
john mccain on his joe the plumber tour,
i hope joe is being paid by mccain or fox during his 15minutes.
mccain straight talk express was running on empty and then sarah palin came along, and it ran a while longer,
then it started to sputter again, and joe the plumber came along.
mccain said he did not know much about the economy, and the way he has run his campaign proves it,
all of those high paid consultants working for him and he is now getting his talking points from joe the plumber
all of republican all over the country running for office at the local level
need money to run their campaigns,
and the rnc spends 150k on palin, and family.
i mean, i can understand upgrading her look to enhance her image,(although i thought she looked just fine when she arrived on the scene, she got all of the folks worked up, them saying she is just like me. down to earth, etc. hockey mom,-i wonder how many of the she is just like me crowd shop at N. Marcus?)
and did the baby really need a 90 dollar outfit from a baby boutique?
mccain, is erratic, and it is better we find this out about him now.
he looks angry, and mad all the time now,
and when being interviewed just looks as if he would get up and walk off the stage. he might be at the point of punching some of the interviewers.
and what about palin, she was, is popular in her political circle, he could be a drag on her, too.

Mikah: Obama did not give millions of dollars to ACORN. That is simply a lie. You have no evidence to support your allegations. Obama gave 800,000 dollars to a voting group and that group subcontracted 80,000 to ACORN. That’s a far cry away from millions.
Your calculations on the middle class are also way, way off. The average American family makes about $70,000 a year. Not $250,000. And there are plenty of American families (between 80 and 90%) who live in urban areas who would not only profit from Obama’s tax plan, they need it badly. The only people who would do well under McCain’s plan are the filthy rich, who yes, live in very expensive areas like the upper east side of New York. Except, wait, McCain just told us today that those are the “elite people” he can’t stand.
Your statement that Congress control the economy came from another planet as well. Where do you think the $700 bailout package came from?

I’m still surprised there are so many Republican dreamers who think and assert that McCain will win.
My parents have been reliable Republican voters for decades and they have realized for months that McCain will lose and lose big. I mentioned on here months ago that McCain’s defeat will be worse than Bob Dole’s and all the polls are proving that out today.
If McCain is going to win, where are all the Republicans in the early voting states?
I guess if you want to tilt at windmills, go ahead and dream on.
I’m not a doctor, but I would think you GOP dreamers should reflill your anti-depressant prescriptions before Nov. 4. You’re going to need them.

A Vet,
Your quotation is of some anonymous author. Though it is well known, it does not come from Tyler (sic). It is most likely more than one author as well, and created well after 1770. An interesting opinion, but not really any kind of historical authenticity or scholorship to it.
Granted it has been doctored and changed over the years, but used by many. Does the authorship make it any less true. It is given here as a reason to think even more about the direction we are going for this election

3 more reasons not to vote for Obama.
Posted by: McCainAmerica | October 23, 2008, 10:44 pm 10:44 pm
Veteran,
What you fail to ackowledge is that the wealth HAS ALREADY been redistributed.

The government says they will use this dollar and spend it on education. But in truth a good percentage is actually going to ACORN or bailing out Barney or any other place, rather than to the schools.

Cycle of Plutocracy (2000)
A plutocracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote against themselves to give largesse from the public treasury to corporations and the wealthy
From that moment on, the majority always votes against the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury to corporations and the wealthy with the result that a plutocracy always collapses over lousy fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.
The average of the world’s great civilizations before they decline has been 200 years. These nations have progressed in this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; from faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to selfishness; from selfishness to Complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependency; from dependency back again to bondage
Where are we now in the cycle?? Enablers??

the republicans have been fooling poor and working class people-such as joe the plumber for years.
vote for us in the hope that one day you will be rich.
vote for us because if you vote for the dems, you will never be rich like us, because the dems will take it away.
just as the republican used and fooled the evangelicals with the social wedge issues, the rebublicans, with the karl rove at the head swiftboated the evangelicals into voting for bush.
these people never ever thought about voting for their wallet.
same as today.
john mccain on his joe the plumber tour,
i hope joe is being paid by mccain or fox during his 15minutes.
mccain straight talk express was running on empty and then sarah palin came along, and it ran a while longer,
then it started to sputter again, and joe the plumber came along.
mccain said he did not know much about the economy, and the way he has run his campaign proves it,
all of those high paid consultants working for him and he is now getting his talking points from joe the plumber
all of republican all over the country running for office at the local level
need money to run their campaigns,
and the rnc spends 150k on palin, and family.
i mean, i can understand upgrading her look to enhance her image,(although i thought she looked just fine when she arrived on the scene, she got all of the folks worked up, them saying she is just like me. down to earth, etc. hockey mom,-i wonder how many of the she is just like me crowd shop at N. Marcus?)
and did the baby really need a 90 dollar outfit from a baby boutique?
mccain, is erratic, and it is better we find this out about him now.
he looks angry, and mad all the time now,
and when being interviewed just looks as if he would get up and walk off the stage. he might be at the point of punching some of the interviewers.
and what about palin, she was, is popular in her political circle, he could be a drag on her, too.
