Palin a Diva? Ruffled Feathers in McCain Camp

ABC News’ Kate Snow and Imtiyaz Delawala report: While Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin often speaks on the campaign trail of having “ruffled feathers” during her time as governor of Alaska, the Republican vice presidential nominee appears to have ruffled feathers within the McCain camp.

Aides to Sen. John McCain anonymously attacked Palin in several reports today, criticizing the Alaska governor for diverting from the McCain campaign’s message, suggesting Palin was unhappy with certain campaign aides and accusing her of thinking more about her political future than about the success of the McCain-Palin ticket.

In an interview with CNN today, one McCain adviser anonymously called Palin “a diva” and said “she is playing for her own future” political prospects.

“She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone,” the advisor told CNN. “She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else. Also she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: divas trust only unto themselves as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom.”

Another McCain aide anonymously told The Politico that Palin has been “going rogue” by criticizing strategic decisions by the McCain campaign, such as their use of robocalls against Sen. Barack Obama in recent weeks, and the decision to pull out of the state of Michigan in early October.

The report in Politico cited tensions between the Palin and McCain camps, saying that Palin had become frustrated with McCain top advisors Steve Schmidt and Nicole Wallace. The two aides were key in formulating the early media strategy for Palin, limiting her to two major interviews with network news anchors Charles Gibson and Katie Couric –- both of which were widely criticized.

Schmidt and Wallace do not regularly travel with Palin, although they have during critical moments, including when she returned to Alaska for her first network interview with ABC’s Gibson, and during her week of secluded debate preparation at McCain’s ranch in Sedona, Arizona.

Wallace told ABC News today, "If folks want to lay this at my feet and throw me under the bus, my belief is that the graceful thing to do is to lie there.”

Since the early limiting of Palin’s exposure to the media, Palin has now become far more accessible, answering questions from the traveling press twice last weekend, as well as conducting regular interviews with local television stations, conservative media outlets, and national news organizations with greater frequency in recent weeks.

Last Sunday, Palin took part in an impromptu media availability with traveling press on the tarmac of the Colorado Springs, Colo., airport — without giving advance notice to her own advisers.

When Palin walked off the plane in Colorado Springs, the Alaska governor headed towards local television cameras on her own to answer questions, where she was quickly swarmed by national media.

One high-level McCain aide defended the decision to hold back on more exposure of Palin to the press in the early weeks after the Republican National Convention.

“I don’t regret the campaign making those decisions,” the aide told ABC News, saying nothing would have changed if Palin had given a press conference in the early stages of the campaign.

"Sarah Palin is treated the way Sarah Palin is treated,” the aide said of media criticism of the Alaska governor.

The McCain aide also disputed the notion that Palin has been freelancing for the benefit of her own political fortunes, saying she has been a “team player” through the general election. The aide also defended the decisions that have been made in the Palin campaign, and says the criticism being tossed at the vice presidential nominee now are what happens as the campaign faces potentially losing the election.

Palin spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt responded to the Politico report Saturday morning, telling reporters aboard the Palin campaign plane in Sioux City, Iowa, that “unnamed sources with their own agenda will say what they want, but from Governor Palin down, we have one agenda, and that’s to win on Election Day."

Another Palin aide said late today that the governor was aware of the reports of infighting on her staff and comments about her but had shrugged it off.

"She saw it and laughed and said, ‘OK now where’s our next rally?’" the aide said. The aide said Palin is focused on the next nine days and has shown no sign of preparing for a political future beyond the prospect of being vice president.

CNN: “In an interview with CNN today, one McCain adviser anonymously called Palin “a diva” and said “she is playing for her own future” political prospects.”
———————————-
Anonymously?
And you have the audacity CNN – you the self proclaimed “most trusted news on television” – to waste your time on something like this (based on anonymous sources)! What happened to “it is the economy, stupid”, hah??
Come on hypocrites of CNN…For weeks now you been trying to tell us that character and judgement (Obama’s) are NOT important.
Of course, in your opinion – you pigs with the lipstick – decided that Palin’s character and judgement are far more important than the character and judgement of the man, who is running for President! (top of the ticket, man…)
Jon Clown – as in Jon Klein – President of CNN – you and your “comrades” are nothing more than a bunch of biased partisan MORONS!
JON CLOWN; Leadership starts at the top. You and your “24-hour-news-for-dummies-network” are a disgrace to serious journalism.
You get it, baby??

What do you expect? McCain is doomed to defeat. He’s down 10 in the latest composite of the trackers:

What do you expect Palin to do. She obviously cares about her future. I say–go ahead, nominate her in 20012 and lose by even more. Go for it GOP!

OK I am starting to get po’ed about this “liberal media” crap that the nut jobs blame for ALL their own damn mistakes …
You ALL know McCain had a lapse of judgment when he picked this Palin woman and NO amount of “liberal media” bashing is going to mask that HUGE mistake …
The media (aside from Faux) are looking out for the Nation as a whole and PUTTING COUNTRY FIRST, unlike some other nut jobs that exist in this country …

Palin is a ambitious person and I also suspect impatient. Arriving from Alaska and jumping aboard a speeding train must have been exhilarating. Such a transition played into her ambitions with no time to acquaint herself with the campaign, its people and details. It is apparent McCain brought her on board to firm segments of the base and to attract Clinton supporters. She did the first, missed on the second and now has become a huge negative for the McCain campaign. Palin’s shallowness is remarkable and John McCain is the making of his own failing campaign effort. Of course in Republican land, its never the principal person who makes the bad choices, its the media, its this or that, its always something other than themselves.

Gee, you have Biden talking about how he
has forgotten more foreign policy knowledge then his colleagues have ever known and alot of “me”, “me”, “me”.
He tells us right before the election there will be a international crisis intended to test Obama and that we probably are not going to like the way the Obama administration will handle it but we should stick in there and be supportive. Say what? Of course he reassures us that he will be there. An occasional gaffe is no big deal and some of his gaffes have been pretty funny but he’s beginning to look as erratic and impulsive as McCain does-
maybe it’s age or maybe there needs to be more reviewal of his medical records.
Personally, I don’t want to see Palin or Biden in a position to steer the ship and thumbs down to both Obama and McCain on their VP choices.

Sarah Palin is all for herself…
In her administration, she would not allow anyone in her staff to talk to the media, she was the only one allowed to do so.
She is a person who needs to be the center of attention and in the spotlight constantly.
Let her be a rogue (by the way isn’t that the reason she said she fired Walt Monegon ?) the more she talks the more damage she does to herself.
She has gone from accusing Obama of being a socialist to now being a communist… so that in itself tells you alot about how she understands policies.
How about she explains how her pipeline bidding was seriously flawed and now will not be stared for many years, if it ever will be started.
All other news media have been writing about this story except for ABC, they again are giving her a pass.
I say let her talk and then only will we see the true Sarah Palin.

Posted by: jerry | October 26, 2008, 12:31 am 12:31 am

Governor Palin is extremely adept at using public relations to mask problems that result from an apparent unwillingness or inability to roll up her sleeves and deal with the all-important nuts-and-bolts issues that are essential to good governance.
In sum: In the very field that Governor Palin has proffered as her primary credential for assuming the duties of high national office, her performance simply does not measure up to her rhetoric.

Hey I have an idea, let’s put a couple of doofus’s on the Republican ticket, and then whenever we hear one of the right wingers fabricating some whacked out conspiracy theory about Obama, we will all start reguritating it all over the blogs.
When the media holds the campaign accountable for their fabrications, lies and smears, we will all say it is because these corporate owned media conglomerates are all Liberal.

Not as good as the idea of: putting an incompetent, politico with little experience, who doesn’t really have any friends (who aren’t expendable at any rate), dressed and coached by a Karl Rove type, helped along with a healthy dose of back room ‘caucuses’ driven by an obnoxious party boss, and the scandals of his opponents on the state level getting him elected there in the first place

McCain should realize that life is a boomerang. What you give out, you get back. He selected a pretty girl who he has an eye for and now the pretty girl boomeranged back. She is out for Sarah P and no one else. She has her own agenda and will do everything she can to promote that. That is exactly why the majority of women do not endorse her. They can see right through her and do not trust her. She does not give a rip about the country or John McCain. All she cares about is the promotion of Sarah Palin and Thank God the majority of the country is able to see this. The Republican party would be insane to promote her in 2012.

Is this the transparency we are to believe in? The only transparency Sistah Sarah is interested in is a glass ceiling. Not the one Hillary taught us to know and love. This is a ceiling of her own design. One that is self serving. It’s only purpose is to be the launching pad for Sarah Georgette palin’s legacy.
What McSarah doesn’t realize is, She is being used. She is of no more import than the 18 million “pawns” they hope to attract by making her the hood ornament on the Flip Flop Express.
Sarah was a big deal in Wasilla. Not so in Sin City. A barracuda is out of it’s league when surrounded by Great White Sharks. Now, They may allow her to think she is one of them, as long as she is stirring up the water and directing prey into their jaws…. But when her mission is accomplished, she will become a midnight snack.

She is a proven liar and an idiot who cannot articulate a coherent sentence. Not to mention that she is totally ignorant of the world. I support McCain because of his substance and leadership and experience-not because of Madison Avenue inspired nonsense that we’ve been brainwashed into accepting in our society.
BTW, you know why they’re not letting Palin give a lot of interviews. Because the MSM is so ruthless in coming at her. Obama was never exposed to that, and the first time they do he’s in for a rude awakening. Also, Palin is new to national politics-she needs to learn this game…unfortunately. But, she’ll learn fast.

Final bill on the Barackopolis: $5.3 million.
Under those circumstances, the extra $5.3 million for the vanity platform at Invesco seems like a strange and very frivolous spending choice. Obama could have given the same (uninspiring) speech at the Pepsi Center and saved millions of dollars. This isn’t the same as buying a wardrobe for a candidate who lacked one; Democrats had already spent almost $15 million on the Pepsi Center. Obama had a perfectly good stage on which to accept his nomination and demanded another for his own ego.

Democrats have put themselves into the position in which they have to fuel resentment to generate support. Who better to carry that banner than Chicago’s Obama, a man experienced as a “community organizer,” immersed in class hatred by Saul Alinsky (author of “Rules for Radicals”) and dedicated to establishing a nanny socialist system in which, according to his wife, Michelle, “Barack Obama will require you to work” and “never allow you to go back to your lives as usual — uninvolved, uninformed.”

I used to be like “Grand Old Party”.. die hard republican thru and thru.. but then I grew up. I’m still registered a Republican, but I could care less about the party line now. There are good ones and there are bad ones. Lately, there seems to be more bad ones on the far right than I’d like to see. I, like most of my other republican friends are voting for our Country this election cycle, and pushing for Obama. John was a good man back in the day, and I voted for him in the 2000 primaries mostly due to his opposition to the Bush tax cuts. Seems now, he just wants to do whatever it takes to get elected.. he did a complete reversal on taxes which will destroy this country at this juncture we are in, and instead of picking a running mate that would be best for the country, he pandered to his ‘base’ and picked about the most unqualified candidate he could find simply for political reasons. Shame on him, and shame on the GOP for letting him do so. So be it. Maybe I’ll vote republican next cycle, but then again, maybe not.

This is the same tactic the media used on Hilary Clinton, the media will now play McCain can’t win, people please just stay home if you were going to vote for McCain, it’s to late he lost and the McCain camp’s fighting, they are all blaming each other, replay of what they did to Hilary Clinton, pathetic media they have a vested interest for a Obama and a democratic sweep, with luck, this monolithic, single-party government will crush the alternative media via a revived fairness doctrine, re-invigorate unions by getting rid of secret votes, and just maybe be beholden to people like you in the traditional media for getting it there. The media are Obama propaganda machines.

Don’t be so quick to point fingers paula.. most of the wounds McCain has are all self-inflicted. Wrong stance on taxes, wrong stance on health care, wrong stance on foreign policy, very wrong choice in running mate. Blame who you like if it makes you feel better, but I’m sure John knows who the real blame belongs to.

No, there is evil in the GOP…Sen. Stevens, Mark Foley, Tom Delay, etc…at least I’m willing to admit it. I’m voting against a Repub in our race for state legislature. I believe in being harder on my own party than the other one. Both parties need to police themselves better.
Anyway, the snake oil,,,didn’t really know Ayers, didn’t hear that anti-American stuff that Rev. Wright said, Father Fleger, never heard of ‘im, kinda/sorta had something to do with Rezko, but not a whole lot, voted ‘present’ more often than not..but that’s actually a sign of strong convictions, spent 3 weeks in Pakistan back in ’83 just hanging with a friend, just happened to have Muslim roomates in college, did do hard drugs…but not heroin for Pete’s sake!, never really, actually, well sorta worked for ACORN, and yeah we did give them $800,000 in campaign funds-so what?, can’t really explain how I managed Ivy League school tuition and trips abroad being so poor an all, not really sure where I was born, ‘My Muslim faith’…oh, thank you Steve for setting me straight on that, don’t need no stinking flag or serve in the military to be Patriotic, not really sure what classes I took in college nor what grades I got and besides it’s none of your business…yada yada yada…
And millions are like, “Weelllll, OK, I guess he’s got my vote!”
Incredible.

A campaign that spends more on haidressers and makeup artists than foreign policy advisers in the last month of a recession/wartime election is so grossly out of touch with reality that the participants should be chased out of politics by the people. Sarah Palin is more concerned about her hairdo and wardrobe than the economy and the war. I like McCain and I feel sorry for him, having chosen a person he trusted to back him and instead is looking out for her own book deal and hollywood career. SNL was right. I would even vote for McCain, but, if elected, it is far to probable that McCain would pass, and Palin would be at the helm. We can’t risk this right now so I have to either not vote or vote for Obama.

“I used to be like “Grand Old Party”.. die hard republican thru and thru.. but then I grew up”
Yeah, and when I was younger I gravitated towards Socialism-studied Marx and Engels, took history courses in college I didn’t need for credit, read economics text books on my own…I still think Marx has the best explanation of history of any theory I’ve seen, and the fact that he was able to address history as a true science (albeit a social one rather than natural, like physics) along the lines of gathering data and trying to predict future outcomes is remarkable, and I still view history and social evolution in Marxist terms.
That being said, I can therefore smell a Socialist a mile away…and Obama’s a Socialist.
Now, there is a difference in my mind between ‘welfare socialism’ and Bolshevism where a certain portion of the population is discounted and kept fat and happy like the Proles in Nineteen Eighty-Four. I believe in what may be called an ‘integrated Socialism’ where a society makes the best use of its human resources, but without being dictatorial. Government should do what it can to make sure that people can find jobs where they are most needed, that intelligent people can be educated without being stiffed by unreasonable interest rates on loans.
The American Revolution and Marxism have the same ancestor in the Age of Enlightenment and European/American rationalist thought. They simply diverged. Our version here, and the Red version starting with the French Revolution and spread by Napoleon’s armies throughout Europe.
But, the Red version has shown to be a failure for reasons I won’t bore any reader here with. Marx should have looked more closely at America and not simply viewed worker exploitation as evil, but advantageous to worker and Capitalist alike…just takes time to work itself out is all.
My point is, we can solve our problems based upon traditional American values and our current system rather than running to Marxist economic and political theory every time we hit a rough stretch of road.

Does Obama have NPD?
The 2008 presidential election in America is the most crucial election in this country’s history, not because the issues are that critical but because of Sen. Barack Obama. The Democratic presidential candidate’s language, posture and demeanor suggest that he may suffer from narcissistic personality disorder, or NPD. NPD is a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration and a lack of empathy. The following are some of the symptoms of NPD that can be seen in Sen. Obama:
He subtly misrepresents facts, opportunistically shifts positions, ignores data that conflict with his fantasy world, is overly confident and acts presidential despite commensurate merits and his modest life achievements, considers himself above the law, talks about himself in the third person, has a messianic vision of himself and his “mission,” displays false modesty while often evincing haughtiness, sublimates aggression, holds grudges and behaves as an eternal adolescent. These are narcissistic traits as seen in Sen. Obama by Dr. Sam Vaknin. The author of “The Malignant Self Love,” Vaknin states, “Barack Obama appears to be a narcissist.”
NPD is the prime disorder experienced by all the madmen of history – from Hitler to Stalin, Mao, Kim, Pol Pot, Osama, Khomeini, Saddam and Idi Amin. These men wreaked havoc and killed millions. They looked normal. Few suspected their insanity until it was too late.
Obama shares something else with these infamous narcissists: a chaotic childhood. One determining factor in the development of NPD is childhood abuse, such as the neglecting of his or her emotional needs.
Pathological narcissism is not run-of-the-mill narcissism – someone with a hedonistic or self-centered sense of self – but rather someone with a very weak sense of self. A child who feels inferior, due to real or perceived social rejection, will try to compensate his feeling of inferiority by a subconscious neurotic mechanism, which the pioneering psychiatrist Alfred Adler coined “Superiority Complex.”
Such a person compensates his devalued and injured self with puffery, pomposity and by projecting a false image of majesty and authority. He retreats into a bubble universe of fantasy, in which he is loved, respected and omnipotent. All children create such a fantasy world. Narcissists simply don’t leave it. Since, due to their extreme feeling of inferiority, they don’t fit in the real world, they refuge into this bubble world of fantasy and never get out. This world of pretence becomes to them as real as the real world, to the point that they can’t tell the difference. When Obama acts presidential, he is simply acting out his childhood fantasy of omnipotence and grandeur. Emotionally, he is still a hurt little boy neglected and unloved, in the body and mind of a grown up man.
Narcissists have the emotional maturity of a child, or even an animal, but the intellect of a man. They feel like a beast, but think like a human. What makes narcissists dangerous is their lack of conscience, combined with their superior intelligence and their superb performance ability that fool many. They are predators that outsmart you.
To a narcissist, reality and fantasy are intertwined. He does not just pretend to be omnipotent, omniscient and superior to others; he actually believes it to be so. His delusions of grandiosity are real to him. That is why Obama acts presidential, despite his nugatory life achievements, lack of experience and complete ignorance in economic, political and military matters, as his flip-flopping shows. Obama is a cipher, but in his mind and those of his worshipers, such as Oprah Winfrey, he is “the One,” the messiah who holds the key to all human sufferings.
Narcissism is not just a character flaw, but a mental disorder. Pathological narcissists are dangerous because they look normal and they are intelligent, when in reality they live in a bubble world of fantasy. It is this incoherence, this disjunction between reality and fantasy that makes them overly confident, self-assured and authoritative.
Narcissists disguise their feeling of inferiority by projecting unusual calmness, confidence, assertiveness, dominance and focus, and almost always possess superb thespian, communication and oratorical skills. These are traits that make one charismatic and attract a stampede of votaries like flies to sugar. Narcissists are needy people who crave attention. They develop these skills and act them out with regal exquisiteness to attract love, respect and admiration. They are performers, actors, slick chameleons.
Sadly, all the grace, exuberance, equanimity, charm, positive energy and magnetism that narcissists project, are pretence. They have the same function that the Styrofoam Greek columns at the Democratic National Convention had – to impress. The world of the narcissist is the magical world of smoke and mirrors. He is an illusionist.
NPD, and people’s lack of understanding of it, has made it possible for many insane individuals to rise to the pinnacles of power. It is to this disorder that we owe most of the carnage of history.
When the Bible describes Satan, it gives a textbook definition of narcissism. Narcissists are charming, charismatic, intelligent, persuasive, but deceitful and ruthless. They can seduce multitudes.
When World War II ended and its horrors became known, the world said, “Never Again.” “Never Again” can only work if we choose our leaders wisely. Once a madman is in power, it is already too late.
In an article entitled “Understanding Obama: The Making of a Fuhrer,” I have shown many narcissistic traits that can be observed in Sen. Obama. Should the senator have NPD, all issues in this election would pale in comparison to what is at stake.
Imagine someone with the mindset of Hitler, Khomeini or Kim Jong-il in the White House, with Congress and Senate at his feet. Can you think of a more dreadful scenario?
In the case of Hitler, the only issue that really mattered was his sanity. Instead, the Germans were hoodwinked by his charisma, his oratorical skill and his vacuous promises of change. They paid a hefty price for their negligence. Shouldn’t we learn from their mistakes?
It makes no sense that cops and pilots should be required to take psychiatric evaluation prior to being trusted with a gun or an aircraft, whereas there is no such requirement for those aspiring to run a country and be commander in chief, in charge of weapons of mass destruction.
It is time for the people of the world to demand that those who want to become head of any country submit to rigorous mental checkups. Millions of lives depend on the sanity of these leaders. If the physical health of presidential candidates is important, how much more important is their mental health?
There is no basis upon which to assume Obama would become a murderous tyrant, but there are a number of disturbing traits he shares with murderous world leaders that are worrisome. He can dispel our fears by submitting to a mental checkup.
In the spirit of fairness, I am asking all candidates to submit to this test. Psychiatric evaluation for leaders seeking positions of authority must become mandatory in all countries. Without it we are playing Russian roulette with war and our lives. Imagine how many millions of lives would have been spared only in the last century if aspiring leaders were screened and madmen barred from gaining power.
If you agree this is a vital issue, which transcends all other issues, whatever your political affiliation, I urge you to please sign this petition (follow link below) and invite others to do the same. If enough people become concerned about Sen. Obama’s mental health, they may think twice before casting their votes for him.
Knowledge is Power. Power be with you.

Hmmm, TS clearance background checks and various investigations are on-going…If Obama is elected and the
“s–t hits the fan”…Oh well, that’s what “impeachements” are for!
*****************
Barack Obama Couldn’t Pass a Routine Background Investigation
By Gregory D. Lee
Retired DEA Supervisory Special Agent.
October 10, 2008
A while back, radio talk show host Michael Savage brought up the notion that Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama couldn’t pass a background investigation to become an FBI special agent.
He doesn’t know how right he is.
Sen. Barack Obama wouldn’t pass a routine government background investigation, not only to become an FBI agent, but a police officer as well. If he were a soldier, his background would preclude him from obtaining a security clearance. He wouldn’t even qualify to be a support person in a federal agency, such as secretary, for that matter. His past cocaine usage disqualifies him from being a DEA agent.
There’s another big problem Sen. Obama has: His association and business relationship with Weatherman Underground founder William Ayers, a former domestic terrorist who is still unrepentant for his bombings on U.S. landmarks and police stations. Usually, the company you keep reveals who you really are. Ayers felt then, as he does now, that America is the evil of the world and needs punishing for past and current bad acts. Not many federal agencies would want someone with that kind of chip on his shoulder working for it.
Also, Sen. Obama’s association with Tony Rezko and the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) come to mind. Rezko was just convicted of promoting corruption among Chicago politicians. He helped in the purchase of the senator’s home and was a campaign fundraiser for Obama. ACORN is being investigated by the feds for systematic voter registration fraud. Not good things.
Let’s not forget about Sen. Obama’s pastor and mentor for 20 years, America-hater Rev. Jeremiah Wright. When first questioned about his membership in Wright’s black theology church, Sen. Obama first denied knowing Rev. Wright harbored such negative feelings about the U.S., but after being further pressed, he dismissed the reverend’s conduct as like a “crazy uncle” who lived in the basement. He finally decided that he couldn’t politically afford to stay in the church, and dropped his membership.
To keep job applicants honest, many government agencies such as DEA, FBI, CIA and others require them to take a polygraph examination. Do you think Sen. Obama could pass a polygraph when he approves an ad that mocks Sen. John McCain for being unable to send e-mails without mentioning his poorly mended broken arms while in custody of the North Vietnamese which prevents him from manipulating the computer keyboard? He’s not computer illiterate, he’s handicapped!
Would you want a police officer in your city associating with such people? Not likely. But Obama supporters ignore these associations because they are desperate for a Democrat in the White House.
A federal government full-field background investigation would also look for prior inconsistencies, exaggerations and outright lies on an application for employment.
I once conducted a background check for an applicant to become a secretary for DEA. She had previously worked for a large police department as a secretary, and left the job to have a child. She was ready to re-enter the workforce and wanted to work for DEA. She seemed perfect for the job until the background investigation revealed that she lied on her application. She claimed to have 30-semester hours of college in office management, when in reality she attended one day of one class and then dropped out. The fact that she lied was sufficient justification to consider her application no further. After all, if she would lie about that, what else has she lied about? Obviously the woman lacked integrity, which is a vital qualification for any position within the federal government, even a DEA secretary who would have access to all investigative reports.
I’d like to conduct Sen. Obama’s background investigation. I’d review his application for the Illinois state bar and see if he mentioned the drug usage that he disclosed in one of his books. If the question about drugs was asked, and he denied it at the time, his integrity is immediately put into question. He revealed it in his book to float a balloon to test his potential as a viable presidential candidate. Admitting it prevented his political opponents from attacking him about it. In fact, in the eyes of many Sen. Obama supporters, using drugs enhances his resume. It’s something they can relate to.
Personally I like my presidents to not associate with known criminals, be drug-free for a lifetime, have unquestioned integrity and be able to pass a simple background investigation.

Hmmmmmm…
Obama fundraiser, convicted of fraud, spills beans
The Associated Press
By MIKE ROBINSON – Oct 11, 2008
CHICAGO (AP) — Jailed political fundraiser Antoin “Tony” Rezko, the Chicago real estate developer who helped launch Barack Obama on his political career, is whispering secrets to federal prosecutors about corruption in Illinois and the political fallout could be explosive.
Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich, whose administration faces multiple federal investigations over how it handed out jobs and money with advice from Rezko, is considered the most vulnerable.
Rezko also was friendly with Obama — offering him a job when he finished law school, funding his earliest political campaigns and purchasing a lot next to his house. But based on the known facts, charges so far and testimony at Rezko’s trial, there’s no indication there’ll be an October surprise that could hurt the Democratic presidential nominee — even though Rezko says prosecutors are pressing him for dirt about Obama.
“I think this strikes fear into the Blagojevich administration and the Statehouse Democrats but not into the Obama campaign,” says state Sen. Kirk Dillard, R-Westmont, a John McCain delegate to the GOP convention but an old friend of Obama.
Rezko, 53, a real estate developer, was convicted in June of scheming to use his clout with the Blagojevich administration to squeeze $7 million in kickbacks out of a contractor and seven money management firms seeking to do business with the state.
Within two months, Rezko was seen in U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald’s office, along with his attorneys.
There has been no official confirmation that Rezko is talking but his sentencing has been postponed indefinitely and both sides say they are going to “engage in discussions that could affect their sentencing postures.”
“They never would have delayed the sentencing if he weren’t talking — it’s proof positive,” said Jay Stewart, executive director of the Better Government Association of Chicago.
In addition, attorneys say federal investigators have been questioning Blagojevich contributions around the state using information that only Rezko could have supplied. Finally, courthouse personnel requesting anonymity because grand jury probes are secret said Rezko has been repeatedly brought from his cell to the U.S. attorney’s office to talk to prosecutors.
Rezko could have a lot to tell. He has raised millions of dollars in campaign money for many Illinois politicians and according to federal prosecutors used his clout to control appointments to state boards.
Obama has sent to charity $159,000 that Rezko raised for his campaigns for the state legislature, the House and the Senate. Rezko raised nothing for Obama’s White House run.
Obama’s name came up in testimony at the trial four times, twice in connection with an obscure legislative memo, as a guest at a Rezko party and when defense attorney Joseph Duffy told jurors his client was a friend of the senator.
None of the witnesses accused the Democratic nominee for president of doing anything improper.
But questions concerning Obama’s relationship with Rezko linger, particularly over Rezko’s role in the purchase of the Obamas’ home.
The two have known each other for years, starting when Rezko offered Obama a job after he graduated from Harvard Law School in 1991. Obama didn’t take it, but a friendship developed.
The men talked politics frequently and occasionally dined together with their wives.
In 2005, the Obamas paid $1.65 million for their home near the University of Chicago. The sellers wanted a parcel they owned next door to sell on the same day, and Rezko’s wife, Rita, was the buyer. At the request of the Obamas, Mrs. Rezko later sold them a 10-foot strip of land to enlarge their lot. They paid $104,500.
The deal took place while Rezko was under investigation and when details of the cozy relationship surfaced, Obama said it was a “bonehead” error to have asked for the additional land because it looked like he was getting a favor.
“I regret it,” Obama said at the time. “I’m going to make sure that from this point on I don’t even come close to the line.”
McCain and vice running mate Sarah Palin have mentioned Rezko little if at all. But Republicans have aired a television ad focusing on Rezko. And McCain aides have repeatedly tweaked their opponent over the real estate deal in e-mails to reporters.
“We’re delighted to have a debate on judgment with Barack Obama, who bought his million-dollar mansion in a shady deal with a convicted felon,” McCain spokesman Brian Rogers said in August.
Blagojevich, meanwhile, got a black eye from the trial.
One witness testified that Blagojevich talked about hiring him for a major state job while his $25,000 donation to the governor’s campaign fund was lying on the table.
Two attorneys testified that Blagojevich hinted that they could get lucrative state contracts if they raised money — possibly for a future White House campaign.
Obama’s name has not surfaced in accounts of the investigation since the trial. But Rezko himself raised it in a letter to the judge months ago.
“Your Honor, the prosecutors have been overzealous in pursuing a crime that never happened,” he wrote. “They are pressuring me to tell them the wrong things that I supposedly know about Gov. Blagojevich and Sen. Barack Obama.”

The Boston Herald
It is what it is: Obama allied with scoundrels
Saturday, October 11, 2008
In the best tradition of Bill Clinton’s declaration that the answer to the question of whether he was having an affair depended on “what the definition of is is,” Sen. Barack Obama was clearly concealing the truth when he said that William Ayers was “just a guy who lives in my neighborhood.”
The Ayers-Obama connection was, in fact, an intimate collaboration that it led to the only executive or administrative experience in Obama’s life.
After Walter Annenberg’s foundation offered several hundred million dollars to American public schools in the mid-’90s, Ayers applied for $50 million for Chicago. His purpose was to “raise political consciousness” in schools.
After he won the grant, Ayers’ group chose Obama to distribute the $50 million, and the future senator raised another $60 million from other civic groups to augment it. In doing so, he was following Ayers’ admonition to grant the funds to “external” organizations, like American Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), to pair with schools and conduct programs to radicalize and politicize the students.
Reading, math and science achievement tests counted for little in the grants, but the school’s success in preaching a radical agenda determined how much money it got.
Obama should have run screaming at the sight of Ayers and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn. Ayers has admitted bombing the U.S. Capitol and the Pentagon, and his wife was imprisoned for failing to cooperate in solving the robbery of a Brink’s car in which two police were killed. Far from remorse, Ayers told The New York Times [NYT], in September 2001, that he wished he “could have done more.” Ayers only avoided conviction when the evidence against him turned out to be contained in illegal wiretaps. He was, in fact, guilty as sin.
So let’s sum up Obama’s Chicago connections. His chief financial supporter was Tony Rezko, now on his way to prison. His spiritual adviser was the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, of “God damn America” fame. And the guy who got him his only administrative job is former terrorist Ayers.
Not a good recommendation for a president.

Natasha, I agree with you that Sarah Palin has NPD. Probably clear to most people that she Sarah Palin does have narcissistic personality disorder.
But, other than for the verbal insults, and lies, it’s not clear whether Both Sarah and John are the same type of narcissists because John McCain explodes more often.
Both Sarah and John are verbal abusers, but John is more likely to also assault people physically.

I hardly think Palin can be referred to as a Diva? John McCain used her as a perfect diversion to flummox the democrats. She was supposed to drop off the map after 3 weeks, but she is still here. A Diva she is not, if anything, she is a perplexing phenomenon, kept alive by the media.
Sarah Palin has been reviled, savaged, hated and mauled by the media and the ‘upper echelons’ of ‘intellectual’ America. In fact, I think she is the
most despised person in America.
She does not get to keep her expensive wardrobe. The threads will be donated to charity. The Salvation Army put their hand up first. Nice Christmas present.
McCain will send Palin back to Alaska
where she will again be comfortable with
her guns, pit bulls and the revolting company she keeps.
Those racist ‘six pack joes’’, trailer trash on welfare, and over bred families.
Those third grade children she gives a ‘shout out’ to during her speeches.
Obama will probably sell off Alaska to Russia in return for much needed funds to save the American economy.
Relax Democrats. Obama has the ‘White House’ in the bag.

As an Australian and UK citizen I feel moved to add comment, after all the outcome of this election directly effects us. Are you all aware that only in the US is ‘liberal’ considered a pejorative term? the rest of the world finds this quite bemusing and not quite comprehensible. We also don’t quite understand why personal invective and personalities are the focus of elections rather than policies and abilities. The allegations of socialism are absurd, a great deal of wealth has been re-distributed in the past 8 years to cronies of the current incumbent. By the way – thanks for the rampant de-regulation that resulted in sub-prime mortgages and a knock on effect to the world economy. We do feel that our current economic difficulties are a direct result of current administration policies and lack of fiscal responsibility.

John McCain made a huge blunder when he picked Sarah as his running mate. candidate. Had he chosen Joe Lieberman or someone else of equal stature, he would now be double digits ahead of Obama in the polls. Sarah Palin did energize the lowest common denominator of the conservative base, but in so doing, she has alienated most of undecided voters who would have made the difference on November 4. Joe Lieberman may be short on charisma, but by dint of his knowledge and unblemished record, he would eventually have won over the conservative base and most undecided voters as well.
Also, the fact that McCain allowed his staffers to foist Palin on him sight unseen (clearly, she was not on his short list) betrays a lack of leadership. He might yet win the election, but if he loses, it will be largely because of Sarah Palin.

Everyone that wants to participate in Obama’s National Healthcare Program is required to accept the all medical protocols. Persons in the program must follow the medical protocols or they will not receive acceptance into the National Healthcare Program. Obama’s National Healthcare Program will dictate the use of prescribed medicines and vaccines thought by the American Medical Association, the FDA and the Center for Disease Control to be safe.
Moreover, Obama’s National Healthcare Program will make the choice of private insurance too expensive for the middle class to buy because Obama’s National Healthcare Program will produce unfair competition for the insurance carriers.
Here is a sample of the prescribed medications in National Healthcare Program and the medical complications that are possible.
http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/10/25/prominent-scientist-warns-of-hpv-vaccine-dangers.aspx
http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/10/02/big-pharma-ties-wants-to-shut-down-vaccine-conspiracy-theories.aspx?source=nl
http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/09/23/history-proves-many-doctors-recommendations-are-disasters.aspx?source=nl
Many foreign doctors return to their home countries from the United States because they do not agree with the medical protocols in the United States. Doctors in the United States are slowly accepting alternative medicines, but most insurance carriers will not pay for alternative treatments because of pressure from the pharmaceutical companies. The pharmaceutical companies are trillion dollar entities, the kind of giant that pays its way to that which it wants with complete indifference to human suffering and death. There is research that shows pharmaceutical companies hide there mistakes from everyone and when confronted they pay their way out of the lawsuits.
Obama talks about generic drugs and forcing the pharmaceutical companies to lower prices, but that does not make the prescription drugs more safe. It must not be forgotten that medicine is the fourth leading cause of death in the United States and medicine will soon to become the third leading cause of death in the United States.

Timko, I agree. How seasonally appropriate. In this Halloween time, it is interesting to see that the GOP have created thier own scary frankenstein. Put whatever clothes you like on her, put her on display for others to see, but eventually the creation turns on the maker. This is precious.

Lets all be like Andy Griffith, a man noone would think has terroristic beliefs, nor would he support anyone who would be a threat to our American ways. He a tested patriot who has always represented the true American. In the greatly loved and repected show The Andy Griffith Show he often tought us about right and wrong and sticking up for whats American. His son in that series was famous director Ron Howard, who in his own right, is a respected and loved icon of what being an American is truly about. These great Americans have given their support to Barack Obama for President. They believe that he is the BEST choice for President. Theyve even invited their fellow American Henry Winkler, another beloved member of that true American dream team. If there was the inkling of doubt about Obamas love for this country or ability to lead us in a positive direction, they wopuld NEVER have done this. They have stepped up for Barack Obama, because they believe in his ability to HELP America, and lead us to a brighter future. Lets all stick together and stand for the America that Andy Griffith stands for! Obama/Biden

Update America:
Facts that Obama and his supporters keep telling.
Obama has created misdirection by claiming it is rich Americans that cause our financial crisis. In reality, the Democrats are the direct cause of the financial crisis and the economic meltdown. Without the rich Americans, there would have never been a Middle Class, there would only be rich and poor.
Now, Obama makes promises that anyone can look through like a pane of clear glass. Obama does not have the power or funds to complete any of his programs and he knows that. What cause the 10 trillion dollar worldwide financial crisis is well documented.
There is footage of Sen. Schumer and Rep. Frank rambling against regulation on Fannie and Freddie? Truth hurts. You know why the Democrats were for the unabated operation of Fannie and Freddie. It allowed for more funding for banks to issue loans to ‘victims’ that did not have the ability to make their mortgage payments, in the event of an unexpected setback (like rising food prices). The other thing that it allowed was to allow the banks that made those loans to sell them and it allowed Fannie and Freddie to package them with other loans and sell them around and around. It worked fine until people stopped paying the mortgages. The Democrats were the main obstacles to reigning in the GSEs. This is fact not reported by Ms. Couric, and Mr. Gibson or the left wing think tanks.
Democrats fervently opposed reigning in Fannie and Freddie because they believed that they effectively created homeownership for those that would not have had access to the same without their existence.
Obama’s role was to take no action even when it was brought to his attention by the Bush administration. Acorn was protesting in local banks, bullying them, under auspices of the CRA to make home loans to ‘victims’ that could not afford the terms of the loans they wanted the bank to make. The banks were threatened with a LAWSUITS, if the did not make a loan. It is not the shame of the banks; it is the shame of Obama and the Democrats.
Now Democrats are imply that because Bush and McCain received campaign contributions that they are also responsible.
Democrats are completely responsible for the financial crisis that is totaling $10,000,000,000,000 and counting. Moreover, Obama receive more campaign contributions from Freddie and Fannie then both Bush and McCain.
The Jimmy Carter and Clinton administrations are the DIRECT CAUSE and NOTHING ELSE that forced the banks under threat of a lawsuit to make loans to persons without sufficient fund to repay. That is how the law reads.
In addition: The Democrats had control of the congress for two years and it is business as usual. NO CHANGE from Obama or Democrats. That is 2 years – 8 years equals 6 years. The Democrats do not know simple math. There is no way the Democrats can run the United States.

Update America:
The draft of our young men into the military will return with Obama. Therefore, all you mothers and grandmothers out there remember your vote for Obama drafted your sons and grandsons into the military. Here is why it will happen:
Michael F. Scheuer, the founding head of the CIA’s bin Laden unit: Senator Obama must have left a couple zeroes off his plan for reinforcements. Two brigades — which is about 6,000 men — will not make a lick of difference in Afghanistan, which is a country the size of Texas, with the highest mountains on earth, a hostile population, and a growing Islamist insurgency. If Obama starts talking about 100 brigades — about 300,000 men — then the public might be able to assume he means business. Otherwise, he is just blowing smoke. Obama and all the other candidates in the other parties constantly say that “we have tried the military option and it does not work.” This of course is a bald lie; U.S. military power has been used most daintily in Afghanistan and Iraq. If the military power we have delivered in both places so far is the best we can do, then American taxpayers have been monumentally swindled in the amount of taxes they have paid for their military during the past 25 years. And another billion dollars for aid for Afghan reconstruction would just be another billion wasted. It appears that Obama and his fellow candidates in both parties have not learned that programs for economic recovery, internal stability, and nation-building cannot be started with any hope of effectiveness and durability until the enemy has been definitively annihilated. If Obama is right and the military option has failed, then more aid is just throwing money away because — as all can see — the enemy is growing in size and ferocity and shows no signs of being on the edge of annihilation.
Moreover, Senator Obama has also advocated sending our U.S. military into Pakistan without the approval of the Pakistani government, invading the sovereign territory of a troubled partner in the war against terrorism. The military must expand to have troops in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan. Another reason to call on retired General Colin L. Powell. If you are young and you have cast an early vote for Obama, be sure to have a bag packed and your traveling shoes on your feet. You will be reporting to the nearest military induction center for your assignment to go to basic training. It will make a man of you.
Democrat President LB Johnson used Vietnam to enrich the industrial-military-complex. Moreover, the Vietnam War helped LB Johnson with the unemployment problem. Sounds cruel and unreal, but it is a historic fact.
Then there is the opportunity to draft women into the national service of many different jobs. You never heard of the national service program that Colin Powell and Barack Obama think is a great idea. Obama will be full of surprises because Democrats want to control people. Of course, that is not socialism, but then I do not know what to call it. Demsoism may be a good name.

What Would You Do?
Sorry, but there is something strange in the Obama household. This ain’t Ozzie and Harriet, that’s for sure. Grandma Dunham, Barack’s defacto mother, the woman who raised him while her daughter ran around the world, is supposedly on her deathbed. She is 86 years old and the clock on her mortal coil is ticking down.
So, if your defacto mother-in-law, the woman who raised your husband, is at death’s door do you:
A) Take your children and accompany your husband for a final visit/farewell,
B) Stay home and make sure your girls get to school, or
C) Go campaigning
If you picked C, you are a winner.
What kind of a mother is Michelle.
First Reverend Wright baptized her children. Now her and the kids don’t see their grandmother maybe for the last time?

Update America:
Sarah Palin on TAXES
You Betcha Palin Is A Tough Governor: This is Governor Palin Way Of Spending Oil Tax Money.
During the oil crisis of 2007, Palin fought to raise taxes on oil companies. As fuel prices skyrocketed in the lower 49 states, Palin complained that her state wasn’t getting its share of the windfall.
Palin successfully pushed for a law that raised taxes on oil profits. The increase amounted to an estimated $1.6-billion annually more for the state: double the amount it received the year before. Then she gave the money to the people.
It’s true: we’ve already checked her claim that she sent “a large share of that revenue directly back to the people of Alaska.”
On Aug. 7, 2008, the Alaska Legislature approved a measure she promoted. The administration of Alaska’s governor Sarah Palin now gives $1,200 to every single Alaskan. This comes to about $741-million for state residents. In addition, each resident will receive an annual dividend of $2,000 from an oil-wealth savings account. That comes to about $741-million for state residents
For a family of 7 (Gov. Palin has 7 members in her family) that means an additional $22,400.00 in income sent from the state of Alaska. WOW, who needs a job! Back to the trailer, Billy Bob!
Sarah Palin is more ready for the Washington, D.C. crowd than Obama. Obama has proven he cannot even take care of a simple housing project. How can YOU expect Obama to run the country?
Obama gave the people in Illinois broken down housing and dangerous living conditions. Where did the money go? What pockets were filled with tax payers’ money from Washington, D.C.? We know where Governor Sarah Palin’s tax money is. The tax money is in the pockets of the residents of Alaska.
The Democrats ran out of information, but Update America has tons on Obama.

Update America:
For those of you outraged at the RNC spending 150K on Palin’s wardrobe, note that the Democrats spent an additional $5.3 million on the “Barackopolis” Temple at Invesco Field, after spending over $14 million to outfit the Pepsi Center:
—In its FEC filing, the host committee said it incurred $53.67 million in operating expenses and spent $53.86 million.
Most of that money went to pay expenses of the Democratic National Convention Committee, the party organization that staged the DNC. Nine percent of the host committee’s money went to pay its own expenses, which included salaries, marketing and staging various events off the convention grounds.
Convention expenses paid by the committee included $14.1 million for construction costs, including the stage and lighting, at the Pepsi Center and $5.3 million at Invesco Field.—
The extra $5.3 million for the vanity platform at Invesco seems like a strange and very frivolous spending choice. Obama could have given the same uninspiring speech at the Pepsi Center and saved millions of dollars. This isn’t the same as buying a wardrobe for a candidate who lacked one; Democrats had already spent almost $15 million on the Pepsi Center. Obama had a perfectly good stage on which to accept his nomination and demanded another for his own ego.
Will all of the media outlets who rushed to expose the $150,000 wardrobe cost and $32,800 on Hair and Makeup Over Two Weeks for a middle-class VP candidate report on the millions spent to feed Barack Obama’s grandeur?
Convention expenses paid by the committee included $14.1 million for construction costs, including the stage and lighting, at the Pepsi Center and $5.3 million at Invesco Field.—

I see the GoP attack dogs are out in full force. They would be better served abandoning this love relationship with Palin. Sure, she embodies the ideals of the radical religious right, but America is very tired of that angle. Americans do not want it. That group has spawned some of the worst politicians of this era, and have caused incredible amounts of damage. The GoP needs to find itself again, and divorce this radical group.
And Palin? She has been found out. She is all about Palin and her radical agenda. Another ignorant radical among a long line of them. It is time to return the running of this country to intelligent, capable people, not people of low to moderate intelligence and radical beliefs.

Why are we specualting about what might happen in 2012. This is 2008 and we need a change right now!
Sarah is a fighter and she wants to win, so it’s not surprising that she is trying to take more control of the situation. Every time Sarah talks without a script it becomes more clear how much knowledge she lacks. She is not qualified to be Vice President and the thought of her as President scares me to death. I am an independent, but there is no way I could vote for McCain because of Palin.

OMG, News Flash!! Sarah Palin is a maverick!! Who knew!! For crying out loud, “diva” is a very, very sexist unflattering term. Shame on you, ABC, for printing this kind of gossip. No wonder you are losing your viewership. Sarah Palin was chosen because she was a maverick and John McCain himself said that the handlers were holding her back too much. Gov. Palin is no dummy, she’s gotten her update on current Washington affairs and now she’s taking over her part of the ballgame. This is what we should want her to do if she is really vice-presidential material–show she’s ready to lead.

Update America:
Obama supporters make allegations about Sarah Palin they can not support because everything they say is rhetoric without substantial fact. The fact is Obama supporters do not know how to use the stock market to make money. The Obama supporters lost money during the quick drop of the world markets. The smart Republicans were holding puts in the oil stocks, the banks, and the future contracts. Democrats do not know how to make money in a falling market.
Therefore, the Democrats can not figure how Sarah Palin makes money because the Obama supporters do not know how to make money. Nothing more needs to be explained.

Posted by: Update America | October 26, 2008, 9:44 am 9:44 am

If Palin ever decides to run for President her bid will be an abject failure. She’ll have nowhere to hide. It’s unbelievable to me that anyone can believe she is presidential material.

Posted by: plantain11 | October 26, 2008, 9:44 am 9:44 am

I’m voting Obama-Biden and I haven’t been favourably impressed with McCain or Palin. But I think that Palin has done all that the McCain camp have asked of her. She has played to the GOP base and she has injected enthusiasm. McCain needed to be much stonger on differentiating his policies from Bush’s – not an easy task, but it was his job. And he hasn’t done it. As I say, I don’t rate either McCain or Palin and I wont be voting for them, but I think this criticism of her is unfair. I don’t like what she stands for – but she’s done her job well. Her own people shouldn’t criticise her, they should applaud her. She’s done what they wanted her to do.

Well folks it’s all over, the GOP Wing nuts are desperately grasping at straws in these final days.
Everything and anything will be said, spread, and used over and over to cast doubt and suspicion towards Obama, Mr Rove planned it this way, and it’s his last kick at the cat before his ass is unceremoniously booted out the door.
The Dynamic duo of Mavericks et al are slowly sinking into the quicksand, they know they have no hope of winning, John McCain will be so glad to get back to one of his warmer homes and put his Jammie’s on and slide into his slippers and have a nice long nap.
Sarah will fade into oblivion, she will probably be impeached in Alaska, get the boot and go shoot a Moose or two just to relieve her rage.
Beauty Queens don’t handle defeat well, so she may be a bit testy when she gets back to the frozen tundra of Alaska.
But all in all it’s been a great campaign, the world actually got to see what a great place America is, and as another article stated the United Nations can’t wait for “W” to go home to Texas, and get Obama sworn in.
Aren’t you extremely proud of America, what a great Country.
Yep the best health care system in the world, the best Education system in the world, the best banking system in the world, the best military in the world. the best political system in the world.
Oh sorry, I was looking at another country, never mind.

The thing about advice is we can take what we like — and leave the rest. If the advisors want to see their advice implemented then they ought to be on the front lines running for office themselves. As for DIVA — did you pick someone because they’re able to make decisions after considering all the advice and winnowing through what works for you — or do you pick a candidate because they’re the best puppet on a string. My guess is if she followed their advice — we’d be seeing press write about someone who doesn’t think for herself. As I recall —in the course of political history more than one advisor has been endighted for following through on their own advice w/out the support of the elected official. Didn’t we just read the the reason the current president will not be impeached is there is not enough time. Did he make his own decisions or was he advised by ill-advised advisors. To show discord within a party seems to be the doing of a democrat infused reporter who anchor person who probably advised a previous democratic president thereby presenting biased headlines to a scruitinizing public. We the people don’t need to see all the name calling on the republican side unless we see it on the democratic side too. Where is your balance in reporting ABC — burried on Page 6?. Sounds like the Advisors are the Divas because they won’t accept rejection on their advice and instead are throwing public temper tantrums. My vote of no confidence goes to the spend spree stylists who leak how much they spend on Ms. Palin’s clothes and the advisors who bad mouth their candidates to the press and to the writers of this story who clearly have no more substantive information to report on.
As I recall — Abe Lincoln was badmouthed for making independent decisions. Were it not for him — Obama would not be a candidate today and his father might have likely ended up being lynched.
Think twice — ABC – -before your report in-house fighting. You do the electorate a great disservice. And disgust me. Gossip rags are sold at check out counters.
Where are the Walter Cronkite’s of the world. You reporters ,embarrass your readership. How much are you being paid to report hearsay? Aren’t you the same paper that dropped the story of the ABC producer who was arrested for making an honest report in Denver Democratic convention? Where’s your coverage on that story.

UpdateAmerica:
News International has learned the big oil companies are mad at Governor Sarah Palin and big oil is mad enough to do anything to detract from the truth. Big oil fears Governor Sarah Palin going to Washington, D.C. because big oil knows she is a tough person with which to deal. Big oil knows they will have to give way or face the consequences with Sarah Palin.
You Betcha Palin Is A Tough Governor:
Alaska could revoke leases for oil fields like Prudhoe Bay if top energy companies refuse to participate in a government natural gas pipeline plan, Gov Sarah Palin told Reuters in an interview.
Exxon Mobil Corp, BP Plc and ConocoPhillips together control more than 35 trillion cubic feet of known gas reserves on the Alaska North Slope.
But the companies declined to participate in a process backed by Palin to jump-start a long-delayed gas pipeline, arguing they needed a long-term tax deal from the state first.
Palin called the refusal “unconstitutional.”
“When the conditions of these leases are not met, especially after decades, it is time to open them up and allow other companies to come in here and compete for the right to tap the resources,” the Republican governor told Reuters this week in an interview.
The companies have said they are interested in developing the reserves, with ConocoPhillips studying a separate plan.
Palin’s tough talk has the backing of many ordinary Alaskans who are suspicious of the influence of the oil companies, as well as Democrats in the state legislature.
Sarah Palin is a fighter and she knows how to make big oil companies bend. Obama is one of the good-ole-boys in Washington, D.C. and the big oil companies know with Obama they can do as they please. Send Sarah Palin to Washington, D.C., she will work for the people.

Does the McCain camp really think that America is desperate for another beauty queen. You did better when she didn’t open her mouth. Please wise up and realize that Hilary’s voters loved her because she truly represented women, educated, smart, professional and aware of the issues before them. Govenor Palin may haviing been looking for the glass ceiling but the shards of glass got in the way.
It’s about time the blame is placed on the shoulder of the right person, John McCain for bringing her to the national spotlight for the slaughter without preparation.
Go back to your family and the people of your state. Don’t think 2012 will be any easier because people will not forget 2008, and your fight will be twice as hard to shed the image of the ill-prepared VP nominee.

Backdate America: “Palin successfully pushed for a law that raised taxes on oil profits. The increase amounted to an estimated $1.6-billion annually more for the state: double the amount it received the year before. Then she gave the money to the people.”
Sounds like socialism to me. I thought you were against that? Oh yeah, you’re a hypocrite

From Republicans devided because of Palin to now finding out she had some bad dealings with the bidding process on the pipeline, it shows McCain made a bad decision picking her. McCains campaine has been horrible and his decisions just has bad. Even my fellow shipmates in the Navy are torn on what to do and how to vote because of the thought that she could end up as Commander In Chief. This could be the end of the Rep party as we know it. The old way versus the new way things need to be for our future. Republicans will have another shot in 2012 and I suggest they get it together and nominate a canidate that can make decisions, stay consistant and hold the party together.

I can’t stand this woman, I think she is ignorant and dnagerous, but I’m not really sure what this article is trying to say. It seems like poor journalism based on incoherent rumours by those who won’t take credit for their words, and even more incoherent spin on top of that to interpret what they meant to say. I could do without this type of article, stick to the facts, please. There is enough real information out there to convince America she has no business in a position of power in our country, we don’t need this.

Diva describes it perfectly. Her wardrobe was $150k and her make-up artist made $10k a week for two weeks of campaigning. Her hair stylist during that same period made $5k per week. She’s hiring Hollywood stylists to give her a good image, but claiming to be “one of us”. What you see IS NOT what you get!

Update America: Love your analysis of spending comparing costs incurred for the benefit of millions to the cost of benefit for one. Not only did hundreds of contractors and vendors responsible for the presentation at the Democratic convention reap rewards by the DNC and Obama expenditures, but thousands more benefited as well, who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to attend the event had it been held at Pepsi Center. In the case of the Palin extravagance, only a few reaped any reward to benefit one. Your analogy is spoken like a true right wing dolt whose policies have been responsible for getting this country to the mess we’re in. Why can’t you right winger’s simply admit, McCain made a huge mistake in his choice for VP, and voters made a huge mistake in their choice for President as well. This lady hasn’t a clue how to run a nation, and probably wouldn’t be able to run a township if she were given the chance once again. I doubt the voters would have her now that her true agenda has been exposed. And no, I’m not a left winger, but a died in the wool former Barry Goldwater Republican who can recognize someone who is offering a common sense agenda to benefit millions, versus someone who is trying to continue the destruction of the once great Republican party to the benefit of only a few. You and thousands of others need to wake up and realize the direction the Republican party has chosen to go is not where it needs to be.

Posted by: devilkev | October 26, 2008, 10:16 am 10:16 am

Well … McCain is a lost cause, so for Governor Palin it’s time to cut losses and polish her own apples.
The good news for her is: she’ll have 4 more years to actually get a clue about what the presidency is all about.
My bet is that it won’t matter. She’s unsuitable both from an intellectual point of view (records about her term as myor and as governor confirm she’s an airhead) and a temperamental point of view (can’t inspire loyalty because she doesn’t give any, not a team player).
The bad news for her: people will have four extra years to take a weigh her up.
Governor Palin may be “folksy” to a fault, she can’t hide the fact that she even failed to make a go of the only state of the Union that practically runs itself and whose budget is supported by a big stream of oil revenues. After another four years people ought to be able to see whether her policies in Alaska actually did anything useful (which so far of course they haven’t).

Well, well, well….. this dirty business with Sarah “The She-Thug” Palin just keeps getting better and better all the time. But certainly it comes as no surprise of just how much this ‘she-thug’ has no business making decisions about ANYTHING!! I honestly doubt that she would qualify as a parking meter attendant. It seems that Sarah Palin is not only “one of the good old boys”, but she reeks of it! What an obscene joke that John McCain and the Republican Party/GOP has touted her as “taking on these good old boys network”. I actually think that she is much worse than this GOB’s network, because at the same time, she is UNBELIEVABLY AND SUPERBLY IGNORANT! In MY opinion, the only difference between Sarah Palin and this “good old boys” network is that she wears “VERY” EXPENSIVE DRESSES and ACCESSORIES, AND SPORTS “VERY” EXPENSIVE DO’S AND LIPSTICK!!! Let this be a lesson on just how much not only INTELLIGENCE, COMMON SENSE AND EDUCATON are required when placed in positions of authority, but INTEGRITY is required as well…… otherwise, innocent people stand to pay for that ignorance. No doubt, Sarah Palin never bothered to “really” understand the bidding process and conflicts of interest or lucrative contracts, just as she has never bothered reading the US Constitution. I guess that she was working on “instinct”. What is the next episode of “As The World of Sarah Palin Turns?”

Posted by: CW | October 26, 2008, 10:24 am 10:24 am

As a Dem, I do think that Sarah is a strong-willed woman. Good. She doesn’t take orders when she knows the orders are indecent, like the robo-calls that won’t work. She knows they will lose, so why dumb down the campaign more? She will continue to be Governor of Alaska, write books, learn foreign policy, travel the world, and have a great life now. The more she learns the more moderate and pragmatic she will become. Alot of great women, Republican or Democrat, rule their families. What’s new?

Posted by: JBG246 | October 26, 2008, 10:27 am 10:27 am

Sarah Palin, dumb? According to a lot of people in Wasilla, Sarah dominates everyone she touches. She gets most everything she wants without a struggle. Her weapon is her dishonesty and Sarah will take you out as quick as a heart beat. A lot of folks in Wasilla know this. By reputation she would throw anyone under the bus if it meant she would prosper. Financially and professionally. McCain’s people call her a “Diva.” No, Sarah is NOT a prima donna or a Goddess nor is she a fine lady. Sarah is what she has been referred to for years, a Barracuda. a spike-like fish who awaits in dark places and preys on her predators. Sarah was fine where she was in Alaska as their Governor. She is a professional at delegating, hiring who she wants whether qualified or not. She doesn’t need to say anything to get what she wants done.
Sarah Palin went along with the GOP and McCain and his campaign cronies long enough to figure out the ropes. The minute she felt ready, she slammed McCain. McCain and all of them deserve it. McCain was using her from the get go. It is doubtful he had plans to keep her. McCain’s priority was to have Palin take him to the end. McCain and Palin’s minds think the same way. The only difference is McCain has absolutely no respect for woman. McCain thinks woman are all air heads and are to be seen and not heard. Take a good look at every news coverage with McCain and Cindy together. Take a good look at the difference when you see Senator Obama with Michelle.
What a lovely election we’re having this year. Looks like we only have 2 nominees in this election. Obama for President and Biden for V.P.
Pay backs are a biotch McCain. What goes around comes around..Keep them Robocalls rolling buddy. Putz….

CW: I am one of those former Republicans you are speaking of, and in my prior post addressing comments made by “Update America”, I erred when I typed that voters made a huge mistake in their choice for President, I meant the Republican voters during the primary made a huge mistake in the choice for the party Presidential candidate. There are many Republicans who are making the correct choice for President, and it’s not McCain. I hail from Houston Texas and the Republicans for Obama groups may be responsible for handing the Houston metropolitan area over to Democrats for the first time in decades. There are many reasons, the choice of McCain being foremost, but then his choice of Palin simply put the icing on the cake. Republicans need to start anew, and with totally new people. Not a single candidate in this year’s Republican primary was an attractive choice. Surely we have better within the ranks. I will remain one of many ex-Republicans who will remain outside the box, until some serious rebuilding is undertaken.

Posted by: devilkev | October 26, 2008, 10:31 am 10:31 am

All you righties love your Obama conspiracies, but all this is pretty directly known about Palin:
-she increased spending as mayor and left Wasilla in debt and in court
-she increased spending as governor and added lots of US earmarks on our tab, too
-she supported the Bridge to Nowhere long enough to get the US money, then opposed it when it came to building it, then kept the money
-she ran a bogus pipeline bidding process that ended up awarding rights to her cronies, along with a big, unnecessary state contribution to the project
-she charged Alaska thousands in per diem travel money for time she spent at home
-she didn’t report the per diem grift on her taxes
-she spent thousands more of Alaskan funds on unauthorized family travel expenses
-the funds for her home came suspiciously at best
-she spent $150,000+ on personal clothes with no mention of charitable contributions (GoodWill, I’m sure, has much demand for designer suits tailored for her) until after she was caught
-not to mention Troopergate
-not to mention that daffy video of her being protected from witchcraft
-not to mention her links to a lunatic fringe party to which her HUSBAND BELONGED run by a guy whose hatred for America is direct, unqualified and white-hot.
Seriously, you wouldn’t want Palin to run Joe’s plumbing shop, much less the country. Forget her so-called “qualifications.” She has enough DISqualifications to make any McCain vote utterly unpatriotic. Can’t you just admit it? He didn’t know anything about her and made a huge mistake, and every intelligent member of your own party knows it.

But for prevalent publicized evidence of Mrs. Palin’s inclination towards corruption e.g. fabricating children trips as business to be paid by state funds, selecting a company with close ties in irregular bidding process for the pipeline, denying purchase of $150,000 clothing in the face of receipts -yet atleast not denying the $22,800 spent on hair stylist in the month of October from campaign money – She is definitely a Baracuda who is jumping ship to save her career.

Update America:
President Ronald Reagan quotes that make Obama a ZERO:
The best minds are not in government. If any were, business would hire them away.
The government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.’
Abortion is advocated only by persons who have themselves been born.
All great change in America begins at the dinner table.
Entrepreneurs and their small enterprises are responsible for almost all the economic growth in the United States.
I don’t believe in a government that protects us from ourselves.
Government’s first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives.
Governments tend not to solve problems, only to rearrange them.
Republicans believe every day is the Fourth of July, but the democrats believe every day is April 15.”
Reading the endorsements of Obama in the liberal media should strengthen the determination of all believers in American self-government and greatness to fight this election campaign to the end. Time magazine’s Joe Klein tells us that Obama “seems a grown-up, in a nation that badly needs some adult supervision.” To the contrary, we are a nation of adults. We don’t need the “supervision” of a conventionally liberal and totally untested junior senator whose most impressive lifetime achievement has been the construction of an effective narrative about himself.
But wait. Obama does have one great achievement. He’s run a good campaign.
The New York Times tells us, “After nearly two years of a grueling and ugly campaign, Senator Barack Obama of Illinois has proved that he is the right choice to be the 44th president of the United States.” And how has he proved this? “Mr. Obama has met challenge after challenge, growing as a leader and putting real flesh on his early promises of hope and change.”
The “challenges” Obama has met have been political and electoral. He’s met them well, and we’d be the first to pay tribute to his disciplined and effective campaign. Still, is this “proof” of a capacity to be president? Obama has run the most impressive campaign by a non-incumbent since George W. Bush in 2000, and by a non-incumbent Democrat since Jimmy Carter in 1976. Do the Obama acolytes want to hold up the Bush or Carter administrations as models for the proposition that a good campaign translates into a good presidency?
We also hear a lot of squeaking from rats deserting the McCain ship about Barack Obama’s exemplary temperament. So what? If he’d had his way, Obama would have lost the war in Iraq–with equanimity. He would have been calm, cool, and collected as U.S. interests were sacrificed and U.S. honor besmirched. Neville Chamberlain also had a fine temperament and a good intellect. Joe Biden, by the way, has neither. But he did–much as he now wishes people to forget it–support the Iraq war. These days, he can barely be bothered even to mention Iraq. Oh well, start a war, lose a war. Gotta move on.

Let’s not *entirely* blame McCain for the shortcomings of Governor Palin, shall we?
I mean … from an election-technical perspective it was a good move:
- McCain is an elderly crinkled male, so complement his ticket with a young female looker
- McCain is a long-time senator who uses too many words of more than one syllable, so complement the ticket with a total outsider who’s “folksy”
- McCain does Ok on campaigns, but he hasn’t been able to stir up enthousiasm from the party base (I mean those worthy folks in the Appalachians who shoot their own dinner), so complement with a moose-hunter
I mean … it was a bit of a gamble, but it could have worked if Governor Palin had simply stuck to her lines and hadn’t let her vapidity show. It’s downright uncharitable to second-guess McCain the way he’s being second-guessed now. He doesn’t deserve that.

This is what happens when you put two mavericks on a political ticket. Real mavericks don’t travel in packs like a herd of popular teenage girls. Palin decided to become a real maverick and took her show on the road to all those pro-American locales we’ve heard so much about lately.

Wake up you idiots before you elect the most radical anti-American President ever !!!!

I have voted in every Presidential election since I turned 18. Although the number of times has only been five, I hold one over-riding theory when making my decision. My theory is: The money each person controls and posses, dictates the quality of life that he or she will have living in America. I have a difficult time understanding how people let the rhetoric and pandering of inflammatory issues drive their decision. If you have found yourself unemployed or having to take deep pay-cuts while your standards of living quickly catch up to the Third World Countries of this planet, how could you, in your right mind, vote Republican? I have always conceded to the Right Wing folks, if you have more money than you know what to do with, or are in fear of having to pay an amount of taxes which hurts your bottom line as bad as it hurts the people having to make choice between rent and food, then by all means protect yourself by voting Republican. My belief is: there are far more people having to make the “Hard Choices” than people having to cut back on the number of vacations they take. Why is it that the Republicans do not simply come out and say “If you are Big Business and hope to line your pockets with tax breaks designed to empower the wealthy, then vote for ME… If you are the vast majority of people living in this Country, unemployed or toiling with the ranks of folks fearing the next lay-off – then there is nothing we are going to enact which should interest you – go ahead and vote for the Democrats. This would truly be STRAIGHT TALK!
I don’t care if the Democratic nominee is white, black, brown, handicapped, male, female, homosexual, inhaled, old, young, visiting his ailing grandmother, a prisoner of war, rich , poor, tall, short or snores at night. What I care about is: what is going to happen to my family and me in the near and long term future. And that is dictated by the money I control!

Update America:
Obama supporters fail to tell everyone about this Obama $500,000,000 failure that did not give the deserving voters in the 13th district good safe housing.
Where did all the money go? I guess all the money went to the contactors and nothing went into corrupt pockets.

This makes Governor Sarah Palin look like an angle. Nevertheless, fear not the Obama supporters will say it is not true that there can be any corruption from a failed $500,000,000 housing project.

Does this surprise any one.Sarah Palin couldn’t figure out how to do something right if someone wrote directions for her. I think if her own family members (Todd) got in she’d strike like a cobra. This woman and this election is going down in history. She is a shark in shallow water, she’ll bite any one in her way including McCain. It just goes to show a person, she was not researched before being picked to run with McCain. Its o.k., she cutting her own throat. I like that.

Natasha,
Don’t blame CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, and other other legitimate news media outlets for the fact that:
A: McCain is a lousy candidate whose pandering to voters (conservatives and independents) has been exposed during this campaign for what it is (undisciplined).
B. Palin is out of her league in the national spotlight and was a strategic, colossal blunder by McCain to appease radicals in his own party.
So, stop whining. Republicans have no one to blame for lousy media exposure but themselves.

Posted by: indy_voter | October 26, 2008, 11:28 am 11:28 am

Under her trusted advisor Todd Palin, she has embarked on her own quest for the Presidency. According to reliable sources, Todd told Palin “screw McCain, he’s a loser, toot your own message and 8 years from now you’ll be the President”. Sarah being somewhat dull in the grey matter above, thought Todd meant that “screwing” McCain would make him a loser now, and her a winner in 8 years. Needless to say, McCain has now started to see the lack of wisdom and judgement in putting Palin on her ticket. McCain advisors have been quietly changing the McCain-Palin signs to read just McCain. McCain wants her to go to Alaska and do some rallies there for this last week of the election.

I know a few rich people that can pay to travel to other countries for better and timelier surgeries. I am sick and upset from the entire bloody situation. I had to wait a fortnight for a simple cyst removal. A friend of mine had to wait a month for the removal of a gall bladder. She suffered the entire time and had to take pain medication.

It’s unfortunately typical of a certain part of America that it doesn’t regard obtaining a professorship at one of the world’s top universities any “achievement” at all.
This sort of view is also the reason why 60%-70% of all PhD students at places like MIT are Chinese and Indians, and more than half of America’s researchers. Americans are either too stupid or to much interested in a career as a broker to put in the hard work to get a PhD at a top school.
On the contrary, running the town you were mayor for into debt and leaving it with lawsuits, then wasting a lot of money on a pipeline that doesn’t carry any gas and swindling the federal government out of a lot of earmarked money to build an unnecessary bridge, then canceling the bridge and keeping the money are of course full qualifications, yes?
And running a hamburger joint would qualify as “executive experience in private enterprise”, but being a thinker counts for naught, is it not?
If a bad B-film actor and a daddy’s boy draft evader who was so “proud” to “serve” in the one capacity that wouldn’t get him sent to Vietnam qualify for presidency, then surely a university professor who’s been in the senate for years doesn’t qualify, eh?
Good lord … why not elect the next president by the *ballot*. It would practically guarantee you the most folksy character you can think of and it costs a lot less than having presidential elections.

Sarah Palin is a true American who tells it like it is and as such she deserves recognition. Unfortunately, she’s been getting unfair treatment in the national press.
There is an organization dedicated to promoting truthfulness in the network news, and it’s called Citizens United for Network Truthfulness, otherwise known as C.U.N……well, our abbreviated name is unfortunate under the circumstances, but please allow me to proceed.
I’d like to take this opportunity to say that Sarah Palin exemplifies what we’re all about here at the Citizens United for Network Truth. As such, we would like to bestow upon her the C.U.X.T. award for integrity, and make her a C.U.X.T. member in good standing for life.

Biden got asked some tough questions by a anchor in Orlando now Obama camp says no more interviews. Good grief people if you don’t ask the easy questions praising and stroking them he’ll probably have them shut down. Everything I’ve seen from the Obama camp has been negative. Look what they’ve done to Joe the plumber and Sarah Palin and Cindy McCain. Read and watch and study before you vote for Obama. We will have no rights since he will have a democratic house and senate. Just think Barney Frank will be taking everything we have and just print more money to pay for everything. I don’t know when I’ve seen such STUPID people running our country. Just remember Nancy Pelosi is second in line, if that doesn’t scare you then you’re past help.

As one Republic analyst puts it “she filibusters”. She has nothing of substance to say. I will never forgive McCain for chosing her and bringing her to the national arena. She is here to stay now. She is the embodiment of everything that is wrong with America and everything that is corrupt in politicians.

Everyone is an ego. EVERYONE only wants not to be destroyed. Palin is the same. No different.
McCain is the same, no different and so is Schmidt.
From the perspective of egos, there is no news here.
From the perspective of the incredibly uneducated, unwise, usual person, watching Entertainment Tonight, this is ‘interesting’.
Even the relatively liberal, at least sane, 538.com
has simulations which show that Palin/McCain will win this election, just as things are, with no more spin, no more lies, no last day attacks by the Al-Quaida, no changes at all.
So let us not be too hasty to throw dirt on Palin’s grave. She may be the next president of these United States, even of Alaska.
No one knows what computer games the Diebold company has in store for us. No one knows the percentage of fundamentalists who will turn out and vote for someone like them, an interesting qualification for leader of the free world.
At least in England the people elect leaders who are smarter than they are.
Happy voting, everyone. Will there be a new record percentage turnout?
In Texas in the DEM primary, only 15% of registered voters, under the age of 26 voted, even though they had weeks to get around to it.

My wife and I are both in the military. She is serving her 26th year and Im on my 29th. One year to go for me. We have always voted fot the Republican ticket in the past even though we are Independent. After keeping up with this campaine and researching everything we could, we will be supporting Obama. McCain served his country with honor, but that in itself doesnt mean he will be a good President. What really sent us over the edge was the pick of Palin. The thought that she could be our Commander in Chief one day is scarey. Both Kennedy and Reagan were great at deplomacy and the Berlin Wall came down and we prevented a war with the Soviets during the Cuban missle crisis due to having brains in the White House that believed in deplomacy first. At one point Kennedy’s four Generals and Chief of Staff were pressuring Kennedy to attack. Kennedy didnt fall to the pressure and used is brains and deplomacy to possibly stop a war and it worked. Does anyone acually believe, if McCain and Palin had been in office that they would have gone against their Generals and used deplomacy. I think not. If something were to happen to McCain, Palin would be in charge of the most powerful military in the world. I know about the Alaska National Guard but I also know she as never given them one single command. My Wife and I are sure in our beliefs that if McCain and Palin are elected, at the least, we would just continue with Bush policies or even worse. Obama believes not only in deplomacy first, before conflict, and has the brains to make it work. He will keep our military strong and country safe and will help fix the the worlds view of us. Remember the days when the international community respected and looked up to us. Please support the troops and God Bless America.

The problem is media. They are anti-women presidency. Their first victim was Hillary Clinton and then now Sara Palin. I can see both of women were qualified for Presidency or Vic Presidency than Obama. Only Obama qualification is he can talk louder than McCain but nothing special. The media should be neutral, fair and honest about reporting on all candidates. Media attacked Hillary Clinton from start to end. Now these peoples are attacking Sara Palin for nothing. Why they do not criticize Obama foreign policy? He is also weak in foreign policy. Are they afraid of someone calling them racist? I’m color person myself but I want to see fair go for everyone.

The liberal media and the people will always find flaws with Governor Sarah Palin. People hate her because of her faith in Jesus Christ. She is truly a believer that practise her faith. No matter how she is mocked by people she could handle all the bad criticisms because her strength is coming from the one true God that many of the American people have forsaken. Morals don’t count anymore with many of the American people. God allows crises to happen to get you back to the Source of everything. My advise use your conscience and pray before you vote. Don’t be deceived.

from the first day when she mentioned the 18 million cracks in the glass ceiling, all of which were made by Hillary, i thought, hey Ms Mayor of Wasilla you have no right to take credit for that. then came the Couric interviews – a total embarassment and disaster. Ready for VP? Not even ready for Mayor of Wasilla. Ready for presidnet – a frightening thought. The abuse of power finding and $150,000 in clothes along with a make up artist paid more than the McCain policy advisers – that was her final downfall. In McCain’s defense, he would ultimately lose no matter who he picked.

How much does Obama pay for his clothes. If he is SO, interested in our finances why doesn’t he donate some of the money given to him for his campaign back to the government???
Have you check his sexual preference??
Does he have an American birth certificate? There is no original??
What about his underworld friends who support his campaign and one on his way to prison..
He has ZERO experience.. Why would he be critical of Sarah Palin’s experience..?? She is experienced in Government and will serve us well.
WHAT about ACORN????
This is a disgrace that the Democratic party would support a man like OBAMA..
That show’s what kind of morals they have.
SINCE WHEN, is it a problem with you people when a person is a CHRISTIAN??
You may find out when we go to the polls.
I think the Kennedy’s who support OBAMA
have shown what kind of morals they have. What about the pregnant woman Ted Kennedy drove into the water and drown.

McCain made a mistake in not carefully vetting his choice for VP. He mistakenly thought he’d reap a benefit of the disgruntled Hillary voters. As if a woman would vote for another woman simply based on gender. Maybe that’s something an older man would do? Indeed, Palin is most unpopular with woman! Now they are stuck. Palin is unprepared, they did not understand how to minimize her liabilities because they did not have time to anticipate them. Of course, her primary liability is her horrible personality. The reason woman don’t like her is because she doesn’t approach problems like a woman. She approaches them like a man. But she pretends that doesn’t. And the result isn’t pretty.

Posted by: yerkesdodsoncurve | October 26, 2008, 12:06 pm 12:06 pm

Sarah Palin is compalining about the handlers. Her problem is not whether marching to the campaigns strategic plans or not, but just coming across as reasonably knowledgeable on an 8th grade civic class; VP and Senate, Russia from Alaska, Print sources to keep abreast, Iraq bordering Afghanistan, a long list…
palin is the only candidate that was not attacked/challenged by her opponents. In spite of her barrage on Obama, he did not even mention her name in all the campaigns. She may think that is because they don’t have anything to say about her. Just wait for 2012 primary when Romney tears her apart.
Indeed, she got a fair amount from the late night comedies and the media. A comedy is funny only because it has some nugget of truth in it. Needless to say we appreciate her presence to provide us with a lot of laughs during this dead serious election year.
She is just not smart enough for national level. Only one such stupid person could slip through; she is late for that, we have already done that and we saw the disaster.
What is amazing is that the republicans see her as their future rising leader. A truly decaying party can not rejuvenate as the core supporters are fringes and now it seems so is their future aspiring leader – not only fringe, but also not too smart.

America has shown all of us that all that hard work we do in college, and all that ass kissing to get jobs means nothing!!!!Absolutely nothing!!!!Why even go to school, just act folksy, be ditzy and flirty and go along with whatever works and you can be governer! BUT- you also have to appeal to the perverted, bigoted white men that TRY to run the country.

The mere thought of Sarah Palin running in 2012 tells me that its either the American people themselves are sick in the head or the woman herself has developed down syndrome

The campaign ruffles are trivial. The Republican Party lost when they neglected the concept of noblesse oblige. ……….

Update America:
Obama supporters fear Governor Sarah Palin more than fearing John McCain. Everyone can analyze the Obama supporters fear by the day after day defamatory remarks. Obama supporters know Governor Sarah Palin can bring down Obama.
Obama supporters do not want to show you the real Obama because he shows a person that is not acceptable to be President of the United States. Yet, Obama supporters will dwell on every detail about Governor Sarah Palin. Obama supporters’ great fear shows by the disgraceful language and the off color remarks that are on every post on every blog. The truth always hurts and Obama hurts every time someone tells the whole truth about him.
Governor Linda of Hawaii says the nation wouldn’t be safe under Obama (says Obama “touts” he is from Hawaii)
Lingle, though, repeatedly framed the presidential election in terms of the physical safety of Americans and painted Obama as a mysterious figure who is uncomfortable with leadership.
She said voting for Obama would put the safety of the country’s children in the “hands of someone we hardly know.” (She also added that despite Obama’s touting he is from Hawaii, she has never met him and he has “never called me on the phone.”)
Ultimately, the country judges the president by how he deals with the unexpected, Lingle said, and Obama “is not a person who will make the tough calls.”
That says it all and there is no need to post any returns because whatever Obama supporters have to say is not worth one penny to read.

John McCain and Sarah Palin do not need to be defended. They have an excellent record but if I were in the Obama crowd I would be hard at work trying to find something he has done??? He has hung our with criminals.. he has supported ACRON and plans to make them a big part of his presidency?? LOL Did he really believe that America wouldn’t find him out. LOL He has ties to every bad thing going on in America.. Democratic Party.. ARE YOU KIDDING?????

McCain just said that he will win this election and he dismisses all the stupid polls. Media, please check your poll methods and change them so that McCain will win. According to McCain you are all dead wrong! This just shows how stupid all the polls are, and how smart McCain is! Overall, only McCain knows the truth! You all are stupid! Check with McCain for the new polling method. Simple test rule:
If your poll shows Obama is winning, it is WRONG, if your poll shows McCain is winning, you are CORRECT! Simple.

So it was really no surprise when papers like The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The LA Times came out for Obama for president — but the Anchorage Daily News? Governor Sarah Palin lost the endorsement of her hometown paper – Alaska’s biggest newspaper.
The paper recognized the fact that “for the first time ever, an Alaskan is making a serious bid for national office” and all the attention that comes along with it. But – and a huge but – “it does not overwhelm all other judgment.”
The editors argue that John McCain is “the wrong choice” because of his reaction (or lack thereof) to the economic crisis and his embrace of “the extreme Republican orthodoxy he once resisted” in Karl Rove-style politics.

Disagreements within politcial campaign is not unusual. No one person is in lockstep with another person. Frankly I dont blame her for looking out for her political future. McCain wont have a future beyond Nov 4, so its every man( or woman) for himself after that.

Obama supporters who trashed Palin from day one are ranting about her wardrobe and other petty matters, while an anti-American Socialist / Marxist racist is about to highjack our government, with the help of voter fraud, and a corrupt biased media. You’d better wake up America … or, this country is about to experience an ugly 4 year long nightmare under Obama/Biden !!!

Sarah Palin’s problem IS her narcissistic personality disorder. It is SO obvious, it’s glaring. She was found guilty of ethics abuses in Alaska, yet she totally denied what the report said in plain English.
I had this lying, unethical, opportunistic woman pegged from DAY ONE. Call it women’s intuition. She is out for herself and nobody else. Todd is henpecked; what a TOTAL weenie he is!!
Any REAL woman can see right through her fakey, make-uppy, lipsticky facade. I too started donating $$ to Obama as soon as she finished her acceptance speech at her convention.
Even if by some fluke she is elected, she will have to resign because of all her ethics problems, mark my words. Her own party will ditch her. The far right-wing Republican factions will be land-fill material before we know it.

If McCain had picked a man for his VP, we would not even be discussing this. This is sexism to the extreme. The “caribou barbie” and “moose lady” and many other names didn’t work, so now we turn to an “anonymous” campaign worker who calls her a Diva.
The only people who are buying this are the liberal Obama supporters who saw her as a threat, and slandered her from the very beginning.
Let’s see, Biden uses Botox, has hairplugs and says he’s the smartest guy in the room.

Both parties include all classes, so I don’t get the noblesse oblige thing. The idea that only the Republicans depend on the upper crust for their support is, well, something I strongly disagree with.
The actual concept of noblesse oblige is that the ruling classes don’t let it go to their heads and do what they can to help the lower classes.
Look at all the wealthy Democrats-Pelosi, the Obamas, Soros, Kennedy and on and on. This idea that they’re made up of poor intellectual college students and working class labor is a lie. Both parties have their wealthy and their middle class.
But, a Democrat who is working class is ‘blue collar’ while the Republican working class is ‘redneck’. That right there is indicative of their (Liberal, Democrat, and MSM) prejudice.

How on earth can you honestly say that these are legitimate media sources ?????????
All these so called media sources have lied and distorted truths all in efforts to make Obama look better . Look what they did to the guy who asked Obama a question and got the answer of “spread the wealth” from Obama ….the media saw it was a bad answer so they trashed the guy .Is that what we as Americans can expect from an Obama Administration ???? Don’t dare question our leaders in fear of retalliation ??? think about it . Look at the latest the reporter from wftv in FL. asked Joe Biden tought legitimate questions the Obama campaign didn’t like it so they immediately cut off any further interviews with the station and proceeded in trying to trash the reporters professional ability . Again is that what we can expect from an Obama Administration ???? That is what they do in other countries censor media and sensor the people is that what we want ????? I for one don’t . We have the right as Americans to question our leaders after all they work for us .

Palins IQ is borderline retarded.
Now, if McCain dies, big if, he becomes prez, and then dies, you want someone in office that has no clue about running this great country? No clue what a vp does? Cannot answer a question.
My God, miss piggy could do a hell of a better job dontcha no?
If McCain cannot decide on a great vp, how is he going to make any rational decision if voted to the white house?
If I can see outer space from my home, does that mean I am an expert on space exploration?

++++++++++++++++++++++++
mavisdarling,
You obviously have no idea what you are talking about and do not know what narcissistic personality disorder is. Palin denied the report by the ethics committee made up of Obama supporters and Republicans, of who supported the “dirty republicans” exposed for ethics violations.
If anyone has NPD it is Obama,
-grandiose sense of self-importance-expects to be recognized as a superior without notable achievements.(Obama has passed no notable bills in the Senate and has no experience running anything, even a corner store) Also, wrote 2 books, about… himself.
-preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, brilliance and power–he has built up his self-worth in his head. He promises things with no proof that he can actually achieve it.(He’s untested)
-believes he is “special and unique” and should only associate with high-status people (Hollywood stars)
“Messiah” “The One” by Louis Farakhan. Children singing his praises like a communist country.
-requires excessive admiration (if a news reporter asks him a tough question, he punishes them by cutting their access to his campaign)
-sense of entitlement (one again, no executive experience, but thinks he should hold the top office in U.S.)
-takes advantage of others, to achieve his or her own goals (when he no longer has use of someone he throws them under the bus)
-arrogancy, haughty behaviors (no explaination needed, you can listen to him speak to see this)

I have been trying to find an answer WHY media are favor to Obama over McCain as many McCain’s supporter blamed. Why media DO NOT favor McCain? Are they too liberal? So, What make them too liberal? Is there something WRONG with conservative? What I have found so far is that McCain and his staffs have made TOO MANY mistakes! That’s why they got scrutiny from the media. When all media turn to a side, the other side must has something dead wrong!

It is not uncommon for an elected official to become caught up in some illegal or unethical ‘gate’ after being elected…it much more rare that they get elected with the investigation in progress. Palin brings at least two investigations with her already. Seems the Republican Party is outdoing themselves with their nomination of Palin. Imagine, if Palin is elected VP, she will believe that she is being rewarded for her behavior. At GWB put it after the 2004 election, “I now have a mandate” though only just eeking out a victory over Kerry. Palin will make a mockery of the VP role and position. I’m concerned, even frightened that her ‘maverick’ style will break laws and she’ll hide behind her ‘maverick’ ways and say, “I have a mandate from the people”. Independents, (I’m one myself) should be shying away from any endoresment of this candidate. I perceive her as dangerous and self serving.

Some of you may consider this a negative attack on Palin, but even as a staunch Obama supporter, I have to admit that this is actually reassuring to me.
With her not being accessible to the media and her only ever saying, “I love my husband” and “John McCain is a hero and I support everything he does and says” all the time, I thought she might possbily just be an automaton and not actually human.
Anyone willing to go through the wringer of public service has to have a touch of ego… That is not a concern to me.

Our economy has ben setup for implosion. If you want your darling Obama to take the fall for it by all means vote for him on election day, he will not serve more than one term. See Al Gore’s run in 200 for details. Or perhaps Jimmy Carter’s 1st term is a far more apt comparison.

Sadly for the McCain campaign, Palin has been its best advocate and biggest draw. i saw her give an interview with Maria Bartiromo on CNBC re: energy and the economy and she was impressive. Certainly as much so as Biden and Obama. So, I figure, if the GOP had let her talk frequently with a variety of journalists in many venues so that no one interview would be earth shaking, she would have done quite well. It didn’t and I guess they squeezed all the Palin out of Palin and it all turned bad.
I’m a Democrat but I think Palin has been the most interesting element in the campaign.

What Republicans fail to acknowledge is that the woman has not had 1 single press conference!!! NOT ONE!! That is unprecedented!! Of course the media is going to publish whatever they get from her or people around her!!
I still don’t know who she really is. Yes, there’s been a lot of negative talk about her, she can read a speech, but… that’s it. I need the media to go through in detail where she stands on certain issues and why.
If she can’t handle a press conference, what makes you think she can handle anything related to her role?

It’s a crying shame an honorable man like McCain would sell himself out and put our country in danger by allowing the psycho Christian evangelicals to blackball him into putting Palin on the ticket.
Imagine the race had he chosen Lieberman, or Romney, or a qualified, intelligent Republican woman (is Palin really the best the Rep.’s have to offer? That’s an insult to women)
While I still would support Obama, at least I would not be shaking in my boots at the prospect of a McCain presidency.

Not surprised … true colors apppearing
A Letter About Sarah Palin from Anne Kilkenny 09 2008
This letter has been circulating for a couple days now, and I thought I’d post it in full for those who haven’t had a chance to read it. One of the best ways to become informed about local politics is by attending city council/assembly meetings. I know this from mind-numbing, clock-staring, experience. There’s no substitute for butt-in-the-chair observation, no matter how awful it is to sit for hours on end listening to a bunch of bloviating local politicians. But it’s difficult not to show who you are.
This letter is written by someone who knows Sarah Palin, lives in Wasilla, and has city council lurker cred. (There ought to be a badge for that.) I think that babygate is on the way out of the news cycle, and the next aspect of her life to come under scrutiny will be her tenure as mayor. This is a good place to start. And thanks to Anne Kilkenny for speaking out.
Wasilla is a small town. It takes a certain amount of conviction and downright bravery to lay it all out there like this. So a hat tip and a big sweeping bow to Anne.
I am a resident of Wasilla, Alaska. I have known Sarah since 1992.
Everyone here knows Sarah, so it is nothing special to say we are on a
first-name basis. Our children have attended the same schools. Her
father was my child’s favorite substitute teacher. I also am on a
first name basis with her parents and mother-in-law. I attended more
City Council meetings during her administration than about 99% of the
residents of the city.
She is enormously popular; in every way she’s like the most popular girl in middle school. Even men who think she is a poor choice and won’t vote for her can’t quit smiling when talking about her because she is a “babe”.
It is astonishing and almost scary how well she can keep a secret. She kept her most recent pregnancy a secret from her children and parents for seven months.
She is “pro-life”. She recently gave birth to a Down’s syndrome baby.
There is no cover-up involved, here; Trig is her baby.
She is energetic and hardworking. She regularly worked out at the gym. She is savvy. She doesn’t take positions; she just “puts things out there” and if they prove to be popular, then she takes credit.
Her husband works a union job on the North Slope for BP and is a champion snowmobile racer. Todd Palin’s kind of job is highly sought-after because of the schedule and high pay. He arranges his work schedule so he can fish for salmon in Bristol Bay for a month or
so in summer, but by no stretch of the imagination is fishing their major source of income. Nor has her life-style ever been anything like that of native Alaskans.
Sarah and her whole family are avid hunters. She’s smart. Her experience is as mayor of a city with a population of about 5,000(at the time), and less than 2 years as governor of a state with about 670,000 residents.
During her mayoral administration most of the actual work of running this small city was turned over to an administrator. She had been pushed to hire this administrator by party power-brokers after she had gotten herself into some trouble over precipitous firings which had given rise to a recall campaign.
Sarah campaigned in Wasilla as “fiscal conservative”. During her 6 years as Mayor, she increased general government expenditures by over 33%. During those same 6 years the amount of taxes collected by the City increased by 38%. This was during a period of low inflation(1996-2002). She reduced progressive property taxes and increased a regressive sales tax which taxed even food. The tax cuts that she
promoted benefited large corporate property owners way more than they
benefited residents.
The huge increases in tax revenues during her mayoral administration
weren’t enough to fund everything on her wish list though, borrowed money was needed, too. She inherited a city with zero debt, but left it with indebtedness of over $22 million. What did Mayor Palin encourage the voters to borrow money for? Was it the infrastructure that she said
she supported? The sewage treatment plant that the city lacked? or a
new library? No. $1m for a park. $15m-plus for construction of a multi-use sports complex which she rushed through to build on a piece of property that the City didn’t even have clear title to, that was still in litigation 7 yrs later–to the delight of the lawyers
involved! The sports complex itself is a nice addition to the community but a huge money pit, not the profit-generator she claimed it would be.
She also supported bonds for $5.5m for road projects that could have been done in 5-7 yrs without any borrowing.
While Mayor, City Hall was extensively remodeled and her office redecorated more than once. These are small numbers, but Wasilla is a very small city.
As an oil producer, the high price of oil has created a budget surplus
in Alaska. Rather than invest this surplus in technology that will
make us energy independent and increase efficiency, as Governor she proposed distribution of this surplus to every individual in the state.
In this time of record state revenues and budget surpluses, she recommended that the state borrow/bond for road projects, even while she proposed distribution of surplus state revenues: spend today’s surplus, borrow for needs.
She’s not very tolerant of divergent opinions or open to outside ideas
or compromise. As Mayor, she fought ideas that weren’t generated by her or her staff. Ideas weren’t evaluated on their merits, but on the basis of who proposed them.
While Sarah was Mayor of Wasilla she tried to fire our highly respected
City Librarian because the Librarian refused to consider removing from
the library some books that Sarah wanted removed. City residents rallied to the defense of the City Librarian and against Palin’s attempt at out-and-out censorship, so Palin backed down and withdrew her termination letter. People who fought her attempt to oust the Librarian are on her enemies list to this day.
Sarah complained about the “old boy’s club” when she first ran for Mayor, so what did she bring Wasilla? A new set of “old boys”.
Palin fired most of the experienced staff she inherited. At the City and as
Governor she hired or elevated new, inexperienced, obscure people, creating a staff totally dependent on her for their jobs and eternally grateful and fiercely loyal–loyal to the point of abusing their power to further her personal agenda, as she has acknowledged happened in the
case of pressuring the State’s top cop (see below).
As Mayor, Sarah fired Wasilla’s Police Chief because he “intimidated” her, she told the press. As Governor, her recent firing of Alaska’s top cop has the ring of familiarity about it. He served at her pleasure and she had every legal right to fire him, but it’s pretty clear that an important factor in her decision to fire him was because he wouldn’t fire her sister’s ex-husband, a State Trooper.
Under investigation for abuse of power, she has had to admit that more than 2 dozen contacts were made between her staff and family to the person that she
later fired, pressuring him to fire her ex-brother-in-law. She tried to replace the man she fired with a man who she knew had been reprimanded for sexual harassment; when this caused a public furor, she withdrew her support.
She has bitten the hand of every person who extended theirs to her in help. The City Council person who personally escorted her around town introducing her to voters when she first ran for Wasilla City Council became one of her first targets when she was later elected Mayor.
She abruptly fired her loyal City Administrator; even people who didn’t
like the guy were stunned by this ruthlessness.
Fear of retribution has kept all of these people from saying anything
publicly about her.
When then-Governor Murkowski was handing out political plums, Sarah got
the best, Chair of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission: one of the few jobs not in Juneau and one of the best paid. She had no background in oil & gas issues. Within months of scoring this great job which paid $122,400/yr, she was complaining in the press about the high salary.
I was told that she hated that job: the commute, the structured hours, the work. Sarah became aware that a member of this Commission (who was also the State Chair of the Republican Party)
engaged in unethical behavior on the job. In a gutsy move which some
undoubtedly cautioned her could be political suicide, Sarah solved all
her problems in one fell swoop: got out of the job she hated and garnered gobs of media attention as the patron saint of ethics and as a gutsy fighter against the “old boys’ club” when she dramatically quit, exposing this man’s ethics violations (for which he was fined).
As Mayor, she had her hand stuck out as far as anyone for pork from Senator Ted Stevens. Lately, she has castigated his pork-barrel politics and publicly humiliated him. She only opposed the “bridge to nowhere” after it became clear that it would be unwise not to.
As Governor, she gave the Legislature no direction and budget guidelines, then made a big grandstand display of line-item vetoing projects, calling them pork.
Public outcry and further legislative
action restored most of these projects–which had been vetoed simply because she was not aware of their importance–but with the unobservant she had gained a reputation as “anti-pork”.
She is solidly Republican: no political maverick. The State party leaders hate her because she has bit them in the back and humiliated them. Other members of the party object to her self-description as a fiscal conservative.
Around Wasilla there are people who went to high school with Sarah. They call her “Sarah Barracuda” because of her unbridled ambition and predatory ruthlessness. Before she became so powerful, very ugly stories circulated around town about shenanigans she pulled to be made point guard on the high school basketball team. When sarah’s mother-in-law, a highly respected member of the community and
experienced manager, ran for Mayor, Sarah refused to endorse her.
As Governor, she stepped outside of the box and put together of package of legislation known as “AGIA” that forced the oil companies to march to the beat of her drum.
Like most Alaskans, she favors drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife
Refuge. She has questioned if the loss of sea ice is linked to global warming. She campaigned “as a private citizen” against a state initiaitive that would have either a) protected salmon streams from pollution from mines, or b) tied up in the courts all mining in the
state (depending on who you listen to). She has pushed the State’s lawsuit against the Dept. of the Interior’s decision to list polar bears as threatened species.
McCain is the oldest person to ever run for President; Sarah will be a
heartbeat away from being President.
There has to be literally millions of Americans who are more knowledgeable and experienced than she.
However, there’s a lot of people who have underestimated her and are
regretting it.
CLAIM VS FACT
•“Hockey mom”: true for a few years
•“PTA mom”: true years ago when her first-born was in elementary
school, not since
•“NRA supporter”: absolutely true
•social conservative: mixed. Opposes gay marriage, BUT vetoed a bill
that would have denied benefits to employees in same-sex relationships
(said she did this because it was unconsitutional).
•pro-creationism: mixed. Supports it, BUT did nothing as Governor to
promote it.
•“Pro-life”: mixed. Knowingly gave birth to a Down’s syndrome baby
BUT declined to call a special legislative session on some pro-life
legislation
•“Experienced”: Some high schools have more students than Wasilla has
residents. Many cities have more residents than the state of Alaska.
No legislative experience other than City Council. Little hands-on
supervisory or managerial experience; needed help of a city
administrator to run town of about 5,000.
•political maverick: not at all
•gutsy: absolutely!
•open & transparent: ??? Good at keeping secrets. Not good at
explaining actions.
•has a developed philosophy of public policy: no
•”a Greenie”: no. Turned Wasilla into a wasteland of big box stores
and disconnected parking lots. Is pro-drilling off-shore and in ANWR.
•fiscal conservative: not by my definition!
•pro-infrastructure: No. Promoted a sports complex and park in a city
without a sewage treatment plant or storm drainage system. Built
streets to early 20th century standards.
•pro-tax relief: Lowered taxes for businesses, increased tax burden on
residents
•pro-small government: No. Oversaw greatest expansion of city
government in Wasilla’s history.
•pro-labor/pro-union. No. Just because her husband works union
doesn’t make her pro-labor. I have seen nothing to support any claim
that she is pro-labor/pro-union.
WHY AM I WRITING THIS?
First, I have long believed in the importance of being an informed
voter. I am a voter registrar. For 10 years I put on student voting
programs in the schools. If you google my name (Anne Kilkenny +
Alaska), you will find references to my participation in local
government, education, and PTA/parent organizations.
Secondly, I’ve always operated in the belief that “Bad things happen
when good people stay silent”. Few people know as much as I do because
few have gone to as many City Council meetings.
Third, I am just a housewife. I don’t have a job she can bump me out
of. I don’t belong to any organization that she can hurt. But, I am no
fool; she is immensely popular here, and it is likely that this will
cost me somehow in the future: that’s life.
Fourth, she has hated me since back in 1996, when I was one of the 100
or so people who rallied to support the City Librarian against Sarah’s
attempt at censorship.
Fifth, I looked around and realized that everybody else was afraid to
say anything because they were somehow vulnerable.
CAVEATS
I am not a statistician. I developed the numbers for the increase in
spending & taxation 2 years ago (when Palin was running for Governor)
from information supplied to me by the Finance Director of the City of
Wasilla, and I can’t recall exactly what I adjusted for: did I adjust
for inflation? for population increases? Right now, it is impossible
for a private person to get any info out of City Hall–they are
swamped. So I can’t verify my numbers.
You may have noticed that there are various numbers circulating for the
population of Wasilla, ranging from my “about 5,000″, up to 9,000. The
day Palin’s selection was announced a city official told me that the
current population is about 7,000. The official 2000 census count was
5,460. I have used about 5,000 because Palin was Mayor from 1996 to
2002, and the city was growing rapidly in the mid-90’s.

With her Born Agin Barbie look and her eighty three IQ Palin has half the IQ Hillary Clinton has. She’s a white trash wannabe. No wonder Caribou Barbie relates to the uneducated Rednecks,Biblethumpers and other Rightwing racist inbreds. No moderate or Independent person with a brain would ever vote for Caribou Barbie who speaks in forked tongues, has a witch doctor mentor and believes Adm and Eve had pet dinosauers. Her family is like the Bundies.Unwed pregnant teenage daughter with her unemployed boyfriend.

Wow this looks great for mccain…I love how some defend her by saying this is a “liberal media attack.” These are MCCAIN aides saying this…maybe some in the public don’t believe it but the mccain camp does…its over, its been over…so, your guy didn’t win, its time to move on

Posted by: Mike | October 26, 2008, 1:26 pm 1:26 pm

Why is anyone surprise that Sarah Palin is out for herself? How can the McCain camp act surprise?
This is the same governor who had her own people do the troopergate investigation to no where.
This is the same governor who claimed to tell Congress thanks but no thanks to the money for that bridge to no where, but she kept the money anyway and built that Road to no where which no one on that Island in Alaska can use because that Road goes no where. But in the mean time there are other roads on that same Island in need of desperate repair.
So why act surprise?

Burn the Whole House Down!!!
Sarah Palin: You know where all of the Bush/McCain/RNC skeletons are. Don’t let these good ole boys make you out to be the SCAPEGOAT. This is starting to smell like a Karl Rove planned Setup…

Posted by: Targaray | October 26, 2008, 1:29 pm 1:29 pm

Maybe the RNC and the McCain camp should of used that $150,000 to send Palin to an etiquette school instead.
Too bad they just wasted that $150,000 on her physical appearance and dumb hairdo.

Posted by: mere | October 26, 2008, 1:31 pm 1:31 pm

As I said before… I dislike this woman, I distrust her but I don’t think she is dumb. I think she is very smart when it comes to dirty and dishonest tactics. But ask her about the constitution and the issues that the country is facing, and she draws a blank. Her answer will be “I’ll fight for you because this country is a great country and the pro-American people are hardworking”.

Posted by: AlomaGirl | October 26, 2008, 1:32 pm 1:32 pm

The McCain camp and the RNC forgot to tell Governor Sarah Palin that she is not the one on the top of the ticket.
Sarah Palin forgot that she is not running for President, but for the VP.
John McCain had a host of candidates to pick for his VP who were not only better qualified, but also knew the rules for running as a VP.
John McCain, always making bad choices.

The “Palin Choice” will go down as one of the biggest strategic errors of any recent presidential election. McCain lost all sense of common sense when he chose her. You can’t trust his judgement now.

Paul_in_Vanc: I bet your fingers are tired. The problem is the gullible American women in this country are jealous of Sarah Palin. They can’t understand how it feels to be as beautiful and intelligent as Sarah, and they hate her for those reasons alone. She really should be considered royalty compared to you all common people anyway. She is more patriotic than any woman I know and more about helping the Republican Party than any other woman. I know you men are jealous that your wives can’t be like her too!

Attack the only breath of fresh air in this boring election cycle if it makes you feel better? She will survive with a smile!
Governor Palin has a record of successful servant leadership and Obama doesn’t!
I voted for McCain/Palin 08! They are America’s only hope this election! :)
But, I can wait to vote for Palin in 2012 and 2016 if Obama wins in 08. By then Obama-hate will be as bad as Bush-hate is today!
Wise up all you Obama fans out there! Palin is more experienced than Obama and doesn’t keep putting her foot in her mouth like Biden!
Governor Palin is authentic, intuitive, energetic, wise, smart, courageous, tough, a servant leader, a very quick study, (it took Obama months to learn what she has picked up in weeks).
And, Governor Sarah Palin has a strong moral center plus American values! She has accomplished much more in her years of servant leadership than Obama!
Go for the schmoozing, smooth-talking, obfuscating, truth twisting Reid, Pelosi and Barack who will decide how much money you can keep and what they will do with the rest of your money if you choose!
Obama doesn’t seem to have an original thought in his head. He can memorize talking points and the words/thoughts of others but his spontaneous words are often just plain stupid! He seems to be in an ideological mist without his script!
Why do you think he is buying time in big blocks where no one can question him? He will just talk/read his teleprompter! :(
Biden spoke the truth about an Obama testing and then tried to inoculate his inexperienced, naive partner from the anger and disappointment that would follow his inevitable poor judgment!
POTUS Obama and Company would weaken our military and increase our taxes big time! Barney Frank just told us that!
I was a democrat and Hillary supporter until the democrats destroyed her with their lying, cheating, stealing and all that counts is the power tactics!
Beware if Obama becomes POTUS! Obama and Company would overreach! It is their arrogant pattern!
I do wonder if Obama was selected because he can be pushed around?

Sarah Palin may be beautiful, she may be smart, she certainly is a dynamic personality…but it takes years of understanding policy and diplomacy to take on the job she wants. I know ever so many women in my everyday life who are also all those things..that does not qualify them to be vice president. Please, when you vote, think about who is going to represent us to the world. Sarah has not done her homework, has not learned yet what the VP’s job is…

Sarah is like the John Gotti of Alaska, you keep dodging the charges for a while but eventually the people you pissed off and laughed at finally put the spike through your heart!
I do believe she is smart but in a deceptive and criminal sort of way. She has only been on the national stage a month and look at all the negatives that have have come out about her.
1. Troopergate.
2. Using state money for her and her chldrens expenses while on personnel business.
3. Billing the state for lodging expenses for 200 nights that she actually stayed at home.
4. Road to nowhere.
5. Pipeline to nowhere – this will do her in. The contact bidding process was structured in such a way that only her and her aides closest friends and formed business associate could win. Blatant fraud here. She will get driven out of office when this blows open.
6. Baby Trig. This is not her child it is Bristols. No way will Sarahs medical records be released, mark my words on this!

CGood, being the President of the United States is not about “leading servants”. It’s about leading the nation and being a servant to the people. If you want a servant leader (=dictator), go for Palin.

Posted by: Observer | October 26, 2008, 2:34 pm 2:34 pm

Palin is like a girl you pick up at a bar when you’re drunk, have the most marvelous night with, then wake up the next morning and realize she’s a vacuous bimbo with an annoying voice, but it’s too late, she has your number. Republicans are denying her in droves. She’s patently ignorant and vehemently defends her own stupidity. She lies constantly; “Do you agree with the Bush Doctrine?” “In what respect, Charlie?” Not “what’s the Bush Doctrine?” But trying to cover her ignorance with lies. “What newspapers and magazines do you read?” “Oh, all of them.” That’s why she’s energized the Repug party.

Posted by: nixau | October 26, 2008, 2:45 pm 2:45 pm

To start with, I am not a big fan of Palin’s because she has a vastly different policy view than I would like to see, one that reminds me very much of George Bush’s.
That said, I think it is generally common knowledge that VP candidates have their eyes of the big prize. With the exception of Cheney, who was apparently there only to flex the big muscles of unrestrained power, that’s what they are all in it for. It would be odd if Palin didn’t harbor that ambition.
The reporting for this story isn’t a “liberal” media bias. Come on, they are reporting on anything that will boost viewership, nothing more or less. They’ve reported many things about the Obama camp that I thought was silly. While I do think a few of those reports were generated by a bias against him, I also believe many were reported in the race to boost ratings and scoop the competition. It will only get worse from here since we live in the media age.
Ultimately, I believe all this reporting on Palin will help her in future bids. While I think the amount of money spent on her wardrobe is a bit excessive, I also believe that it is between the RNC and their donors. If their donors are okay with how that money was spent, I have no problem with it. With both that story and this “diva” one, the problem is with the RNC and the McCain campaign, not the “liberal” media just like Biden’s gaffe is his fault, not the “Conservative” media. They need to have their houses in order.

Ah, the morons are out in full force with their hate and anger. No the Republican Party should not have ordered all those nice clothes for Sarah. She should have gone to law school so she could be like those two (Obama and Biden) sleazy hack lawyers. Part 1. Caio! wwterry

It must be very easy for all the witless out there that let the MainStreamMedia make all their decisions. I can not help but compare this election to the Dan Quayle campaign a few years ago. Quayle misspells a word and was crucified for it. Obama comments that he is about to visit the last state (number 58) and for some reason he is just fine.
The MSM decided that Quayle was a loser, based on real substance ( not ) and now the MSM has decided that Palin is also a loser, based on real substance ( not). The MSM spent more effort “vetting” Palin in the 2 weeks following her selection, than they did with Obama in the entire election.
Then McCain is criticized because he is too negative. If the MSM was not so busy enjoying the “thrill up their leg”, maybe they could spend a little more time reporting the story instead of directing it. If the MSM had spent any time “vetting” Obama, the election would be between Hillary and McCain.
If there is a loser among is, it the voters who are letting the MSM do all their thinking for them. Then again, we are all losers,we no longer have a free press. Just a marketing arm for the liberal agenda.
The MSM decided the Quale was a loser, based on real substance ( not ) and now the MSM has decided that Palin is also a loser, based on real substance ( not).
If there is a loser amoung is, it the votes who are letting the MSM do all their thinking for them.

Even though I have nothing good to say about Palin, she is not my cup of tea…I will say that the McCain camp has not done her any favors. They have treated her more Audrey Hepburn as Eliza Doolittle in “My Fair Lady”…teaching her how to speak and how to dress. It is amazing. This woman managed to get elected the gov of Alaska, she probably would have been just fine if the campaign had not decided to unfurl in two long interviews.

It’s bad enough that people are having a hard time taking Sarah Palin serious. Now, she has the irritating Elisabeth Hasselbeck opening for her. It’s official, the high school most popular are in full effect. Hypocrital as most conservatives, Elisabeth starts out by criticizing the focus on the $150,000 wardrope which is separate from the $22,000 spent on hair and makeup. Elisabeth states that the focus should be on more serious issues. If this was about Obama she they both would be leading the pack on attacks against Biden or Obama. And those silly immature expressions that the two of them, Sarah and Elisabeth, make that insinuates “duh” is a turnoff to everyone outside of the conservative base.
Believe it or not I try to be fair in listening to those whose views are different from mine, but the snipiness is unbearable. And dragging the little ones on stage serves even more to make Palin’s campaigning look freshman at the least and sophmoric at the most. And are they not guilty of everything they accuse Obama supporters of? They accuse Obama supporters of making the campaign about race. Yet, they turn every criticism against Palin into sexism. The $150,000 was wrong. The $22,000 was wrong. And about the word diva that was used by her own campaign…I have heard guys called diva also. In the real world that word is more about “all about me, unrealistic and unnecessary demands made by someone to fulfill their selfish needs” rather than an aggressive goal oriented woman.

Relax folks. This is just simply how a cocky wacko thinks, nothing more. The better question is why she’s on the McCain ticket to begin with. Some will say it was bad judgment or even treason on McCain’s part to put her there. But I’m of the camp that just says McCain was making a cynical ploy for the women’s vote. He would have stuffed her in a closet for the rest of his presidency if he got elected, and probably would have made her step now at some point if he got sick. It was all a big joke from the start. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a joke on the American people, and it’s joyous satisfaction to see it all now bite him back in the you-know-where.

What is Sarah Palin trying to do?Is she trying to outsmart Mcain? Is it the perfect bayback for bringing an unknown character from Alaska to his ticket?I feel sorry for Mcain now.I hope he will ask her to shut up and follow his campaign than criticizing him behind the scenes. If she thinks if Mcain loses this election, she can come back after 4 years and run for the white house thats not something Americans are going to let it happen. Not only can she run for the white house she cannot even run for Alaska Senate race.

Maverick Personality Disorder
http://headofstate.blogspot.com/2008/10/maverick-personality-disorder.html
Palin may reject complicated scientific definitions.
Despite this, McCain and Palin have managed to make a contribution to the scientific literature.
Before this campaign, the term “maverick” was used loosely, imprecisely.
Now, on the basis of extensive behavioral observations and study, we can firmly say what a “maverick” actually is.
It’s a personality disorder:
Maverick Personality Disorder 400.00 (Cluster B)
Maverick Personality Disorder is defined by a tendency to make rash, impulsive decisions that are regarded as both bold and correct–even if the decision directly contradicts another “bold” and “correct” decision that has been made only moments before. This impulsivity is to be distinguished from that seen in Borderline Personality Disorder in that in the latter disorder, self-destructive behavior is overt and intentional, whereas in Maverick Personality Disorder, the impulsive behavior is largely self-destructive, but the individual is rarely aware of it, instead thinking that they are acting “from their gut” in a reasonable fashion.
Sharp mood swings, dramatic gestures, and statements that reflect poor judgment and at times reduced perception of reality (e.g. “the fundamentals of the economy are sound”) often occur in the disorder.
A. Three of the following symptoms, displayed in a persistent fashion over a period of 1 year, are necessary for the disorder:
a) Impulsive, rash thoughts and decision-making, often on matters of considerable long-term importance, the impact of which may have major deterimental effects on the individual or others. The impulsive decisions are often justified by such statements as being a “courageous thinker”, and by disavowing thought and deliberation as negative characteristics. Notably, despite repeated negative outcomes of this impulsive decision making, the individual still maintains that this behavioral style is correct, and will become testy and irritable when challenged, or when reminded of previous negative outcomes. Ideas that are entirely at odds with each other may be seen concurrently, and such contradictions may be presented by the individual as entirely rational.
2) Dramatic, sweeping, impulsive and grandiose gestures that are meant to change a situation in its entirety, yet are often poorly thought through. The individual may present these acts as gallant and heroic, yet the individual often appears desperate, and provides only a paper-thin rationale for the efficacy of the actions.
3)Extreme mood swings or changes in affect, from apparently happy, to extreme anger and rage. Often these emotions will occur simultaneously, as in the “angry grimacing smile.”
4)Binges, sprees or reckless/dangerous behavior without recognizing the potential consequences of such behavior, such as shopping sprees, entering interviews without knowledge of the subject at hand, or naming Vice Presidential candidates without sufficient vetting.
5) “Going Rogue”: The tendency to stray from previous professional, social and personal commitments in an effort to protect the self.
6) Dissociative Speech Disturbances: The marked tendency to speak for extensive period of time without any apparent linkage between speech centers and centers of actual thought. The individual may appear entirely confident in what they are saying, speaking at length without pause, without displaying any deliberation, cerebration, contemplation or any other forms of thought whatsoever. With these speech disturbances may occur various accompanying behaviors, such as winking, thumb-raising, etc.
7) Dissociative Changes in Ideation: The individual may disavow major aspects of what they claimed to be the center of their beliefs–e.g., the viability of major tax cuts for the wealthy.
8) Verbal Echolalia: The seemingly uncontrollable repetition of certain words and phrases, even when they appear to have ritualistic meaning or have little or no purpose, remaining utility, or underlying truth. E.g., “My friends”, “Socialist”, “Joe the Plumber”.
B. These behaviors must cause marked impairment in one’s professional activities or campaign, and are obsessively maintained even when their destructive impact is clear.
C. These behaviors cannot occur exclusively during a period of Bipolar/Manic Depressive Illness, Major Depression, or political inactivity.
Codes for severity:
MPD Mild 400.01: Mutters to self and wanders grumpily during debate; threatens to attack Russia because it is in view;
MPD Moderate 400.02: Races to “save economy” that he claims is fundamentally sound; Appeals to others as “Average Mom”, then wears $150,000 in wardrobe and makeup;
MPD Severe 400.03: Invokes “Joe the Plumber” despite long past sell-by date; Sits down in interview with Katie Couric.

OBAMA THE CHEATER – Let me count the ways,,ACORN, BROKEN PUBLIC FINANCING PLEDGE, CORRUPT FUND RAISING. Thats right folks, and he claims to be the ” transformational candidate” Funny how the obama media doesnt question obama fundraising, or the ACORN front group contribution of 800,000.00, but would rather demand answers about Sarah Palins wardrobe. Media has no credibility. Its over.

The more the media tries to hurt Sarah Palin, the more I like , and respect her. Her resume outshines obamas by an eternity. She has shown amazing grace, character, and confidence in the face of a rupugnant, backstabbing, evil obama media. Then there are the elite Hollywood snobs who attempt to demean and mock her. Sarah Palin has proven to be a beautiful, kind, intelligent woman head and shoulders above the media and hollwood. McCain and Palin are in it to win it.

THE CAT IS OUT OF THE BAG —- Obama has long been an adherent of Marxism and—as well as having befriended and worked with Marxist terrorists William Ayers and his wife Bernadine Dohrn—one of his earliest mentors was Saul Alinsky; Marxist and the American founder of “community organizing” in Chicago. In his book “Rules for Radicals”—which he dedicated to Satan—Alinsky outlines how to create radicals and take over impoverished communities and then extend into the larger suburban areas by lulling the middle class into a false sense of comfort with the organizers’ ideas. Alinsky advises that by the time the “educated” middle class realizes the radicals were lying, it’s too late. —-Note: After Obama is elected, all of his programs and people to keep him in power indefinitely—and to rid him of any and all opposition—will be firmly in place. You will not be able to vote him out of office. By the time he assumes the position of President of the United States it will already be too late. A democratic republic will last only so long as people of good will allow and fight for it. After they are gone—or removed—it is

That’s who Sarah Palin is! Nice try “biased” ABC, but America is going thru a difficult time right now.
Go look for a more serious issue to write about. You’re no “Access Hollywood.”
Go Sarah! McCain/Palin 2008

Posted by: Pitbull_For_Palin | October 26, 2008, 5:57 pm 5:57 pm

2012 is not 2008 and who knows where this country will be at that time…who would have thought in 2004 that America would be in the deep mess we are in right now. However, if Palin plans on having a national career, she is going to have to learn to speak to issues that concern more than just the base. It is easy to preach to the choir…but she needs to learn to reach those that are not in her “choir”. If McCain loses, she will be blamed for the loss heavily and that is sad, because McCain would probably have lost all by himself without her. If they do manage to win and all this backbiting infighting within the campaign is true, we as Americans are in for a rough four years. ;-)

I hope that Replublican’s will remember what Palin did to McCains poll numbers and more importantly, how she has turned on McCain. The media didn’t put her in a bad light, she did it herself. Listening to her in an interview was painful. Run on sentences, lots of Ums & ands, changing subjects in mid-stream, and then being ignorant of the issues to boot. She drags her kids everywhere and then blasts the press for dragging her kids into the lime light. Maybe she can educate herself and learn how to speak in the next 4 years but she will still be a Linda Tripp in my book.

To the person who wrote this :
Sarah Palin may be beautiful, she may be smart, she certainly is a dynamic personality…but it takes years of understanding policy and diplomacy to take on the job she wants. I know ever so many women in my everyday life who are also all those things..that does not qualify them to be vice president. Please, when you vote, think about who is going to represent us to the world. Sarah has not done her homework, has not learned yet what the VP’s job is…
Posted by: wendy | Oct 26, 2008 2:09:32 PM
You might wanna use the same critique for Obama …..”it takes years to learn but understanding policy and diplomacy to take on the job she/he wants” you said it now tell me please what would you consider obamas resume ????? state senate for 2 years ???? I hate to tell you but Sarah Palin has more experience aand knowledge than Obama …. The only difference between them is Obama has speeches wrote for him and has a unique talent of putting a spin on anything negative. And as far as Sarah needs to understand what a VP does you again may want to look at your VP canidate because in the VP debate Biden didn’t know much about either ..and has admitted that it has been a while on his foreign policy skills …It was also Biden who made the remark That Obama will be tested in the first 6 months and asked supporters to stand by them as they may not make the right decision. So please check your facts !!!!!!!!!!!
In case anyone hasn’t noticed the media has TRASHED HER and I personally find it hard to believe that the media does trash her but that ALL YOU WOMEN out there Fall for it . think if they treat her like that there will never be a woman who will be taken serious for the role of VP or President . Stand up for WOMEN .

It has been proven that when there is a crisis as we are seeing in this country today that people will look for a crutch to give them hope, just as when a person suffers a personal crisis they will seek religion. Obama supporters need him to lead the way for they cannot find the way themselves. They view Obama as the second coming, the messiah that will part the waters and lead them to the promised land. So don’t blame them for they know not what they do. As Rev. Wright says, not God Bless America but God —- America, and so goes Obama on his way to the White House.

The one good thing about this election and all the garbage being thrown around, I only watch FOX news, cooking shows, animal shows, etc. I will not go to the movies or rent/buy a DVD, watch anything with a so called actor in it. I have given up the newspapers and only read novels. My life has become very peaceful. My only hope is that when Mobama curtails all the news media to fit his agenda you all don’t cry about it…..its coming……..

Posted by: Diane | October 26, 2008, 7:52 pm 7:52 pm

If the women of America, Republican and Democrat, do not stand up against all the garbage that is being thrown at Governor Sarah Palin, then we deserve every disservice that comes our way. When we fought for our rights in the 60’s and 70’s and for “choice” I just figured you have a choice. You can have an abortion or not, that is true choice. That is the only issue “NOW” seems to have. Why is everyone so afraid of a strong woman that makes her own choice? Women have always been the compassionate side of the civilization. As mothers, sisters and daughters, I never thought we would eat our own.

I’m really curious to see what is so secretive in her health records. mccain needs to pick out one of his 9 houses and retire quietly on Nov. 5th. palin can then head back up north where she belongs. I do think she will have trouble getting re-elected as govenor. Obama/Biden 2008!!!

Gee, our Grand Old Party has created a “half-baked Alaskan DIVA nightmare. Serves us right.
Kerry….being a woman has nothing to do with Governor Sarah Palin’s bad treatment. She brought that on herself. If she was prepared and qualified for this fight…women will support her. She came out swinging with a DIVISION message rather than trying to include all women….and all Americans. Americans and especially women wanted someone with substance.

Posted by: khatts98178 | October 26, 2008, 8:46 pm 8:46 pm

If Sarah Palin only scares the life out of liberals, then why are so many high profile conservatives jumping ship because of her? Seems like she is scarying the life out of a lot of her own also. The largest newspaper in Alaska (her own territory) has just announced their support of Obama. Face it, she is a very selfish and meanspirited woman. I really wanted to be impressed with her, but she is too quick to fight nasty and that’s not a good thing. If the McCain ticket wins, I can see her causing a lot of negative chaos in Washington on many levels due to her desire to have things her way regardless of what the majority wants – EVEN MCCAIN – her boss. She is trouble people – trust me. I am a 50 year old woman that can see right through it all.

Makes teh $400 hair cuts and I feel pretty seem pretty silly now.
John McCain said they needed some clothes…that might be the case. However when your idea of shopping for some clothes is going to Saks and Neiman, someone is out of touch with reality.
The GOP andRNC has no idea of what the average American has to live like.

On second thought, the idea that the RNC and MCcain advisors did not think enough of Palin and her clothing tastes, much less her hair and make up that they needed to bring in hollywood glam police to make her over.

fsteele – simple – people just plain want to jump from a sinking ship! AND, do not forget alll of the conservatives who are endorsing Senator Obama. Congrssional members, journalists, former aides to Bush – YEP! The ship is sinking and everyone is wanting to climb into another ship with a strong sail and a captain at the wheel who knows where he is going. McCain’s campaign is in shambles, his VP is throwing the anchor overboard so the ship sinks faster, and the McCain/Palin ship is quickly sinking to the bottom.

Posted by: sandy | October 26, 2008, 9:32 pm 9:32 pm

McCain seems to have a huge problem using logic and common sense at the same time to even make simple decisions. It was too obvious that he should have selected Mitt Romney as his VP choice. One of these days he will learn that good common sense goes a long way. He made a bone headed decision by selecting Mrs. Palin, now he must deal with his own consequences.

Posted by: TakingPictures | October 26, 2008, 9:39 pm 9:39 pm

I sometimes think that Elisabeth Hasselbeck has reached the height of stupidity on the View in expressing her partisan views. The level of idiocy was even higher on Sunday during her introduction of Sarah Palin at the rally. She sounded so stupidly smug and totally ignorant. She parroted what the campaign wrote for her without a second thought. She criticized “the others” in bringing up Palin’s wardrobe as being sexist. She had to inject that. Did she forget when the media went crazy for weeks and months at the cost of Edwards’s hair cut? Was it sexist then? She was so stupidly yelling and relishing her role to the point where we could no longer watch her. We had to turn the TV off. What annoys me about her that she is so black and white in evaluating people and situations? She is so narrow-minded. I think that she really hates Barak and Michele Obama. She thinks she is so perfect. Palin and Elisabeth fit well together. If Palin is Elisabeth’s role model, then we know for sure how superficial she is. They are both empty suits.
By the way, the choice of a $150,000 wardrobe for Palin shows how elitist McCain and his campaign are and how out of touch they are with the real people, the Joe plumbers of the world. Their action speaks clearer than their words. They care less about Middle America. Does the middle class shops in these exclusive stores? As for Palin, if this story had not been out, she would have continued wearing these clothes. It’s too late now trying to mend things

I was watching the news today and heard Sarah Palin making a stomp speech where she says “I’m a Redneck and proud of it”. Does she know the actual definition of the word Redneck. It is an uneducated white farm laborer, esp. from the South.
2. a bigot or reactionary, esp. from the rural working class.
–adjective 3. Also, red-necked. narrow, prejudiced, or reactionary: a redneck attitude.
I CAN’T REALLY BELIEVE SHE IS PROUD OF THAT. Does this woman have rock for a brain or is she really just this stupid? Someone please answer my question. Thank you.

How can we believe McCain/Palin will “end gridlock in Washington” if they can’t even end gridlock in their own campaign? If this is how McCain runs a campaign, I don’t expect him to govern any better.
Considering how disciplined and successful Obama’s campaign has been, he’s more of a leader.

I can’t believe the partisan blindness of you desperate McCain/Bush dead-enders! Whining about how unfair the media is to your candidate, because they ask Palin to answer hardballs like ‘What newspapers do you read?’ and ‘What decisions have you made as commander of the Alaska National Guard’? How could anyone possibly be expected to answer questions like that? And, the nerve of the media to fail to report McCain’s latest lies, unfounded attacks and swift-boat attempts? The scariest thing about Sarah Palin is that she is so ignorant. I know that alot of folks think that Democrats are afraid of her, we’re not. We are definately afraid of another 4 years of a non-intellectual in the leadership positions of this country. So, sorry! Not afraid of Gov Palin or John McCain for that matter. I just know where their stupidity could take us if you let them have the reigns. As Thomas Jefferson said, “An informed electorate will right the wrongs…” If the low-information-voters that don’t bother to vet either parties claims end up casting the deciding votes, then that is truly something to be afraid of. Check out the other parties website and then use a ‘factcheck.org’ or some other non-partisan verifier. The truth will prevail if you can be honest with yourself. Obama-Biden 08

BTW people,
Natasha actually works for THIS blog!
Yup, she’s a moderator/content “enhancer”!
That’s right!
She’s here to “spice” things up for your entertainment!
Well, not exactly. Her job is to steer the converfsation, or slant it, into a particular focus that stimulates a particualr type of response.
Sadly, not only do most here fall for it, it is actually needed!

Hammering the people with liberal biased reporting shows a lack of confidence in the discernment of voters…..we, the people, see the liberal agenda…and will make an informed decision with no help from them.

this “diva story” has been on ABC for days — you would think it was time to move on….and say…report that Joe Biden was rude and arrogant with a local Florida reporter and now the Obama camp won’t do interviews with anyone from that station. Can’t take the heat — so they kick the TV crew outta there! Is that what it will be like with an Obama/Biden White House — no one can challenge their point of view? Well, at least for several days now I could read about Palin being a diva — when a man is strong minded — he is just that strong minded — a woman is called a diva — interesting….

Posted by: JJ | October 27, 2008, 8:34 am 8:34 am

Many people are taking the time to compare the two VP choices in light of the possibilities of them stepping into the presidency.
I could not believe Palin pulled in Hasselbeck to start whining about sexism again – does anybody else think it’s hysterical to hear about sexism from a woman who winks at her audience?
More power to her for making the most of her appearance (stilleto heels and pencil skirts) but she shouldn’t mistake that we women don’t know what that’s about and it certainly isn’t presidential professionalism.
Why are there no writeups on the Testosterone effect? The republicans have certainly been playing that up.

Posted by: Citizen Voter | October 27, 2008, 8:34 am 8:34 am

WOW! The things that make the news at CNN are $150,000 the GOP spent on the Palin family for clothes and an ANONYMOUS source saying Palin is a diva. Why not run a story about how much the Palins gave to charity compared to the Bidens and Obamas…….Oh that’s right they only want to give taxpayers’ money to charity.

Posted by: Kathy | October 27, 2008, 9:00 am 9:00 am

Palin realizes she’s hooked herself to a sinking boat in McCain. The GOP is all it’s idiocy attempted to outfit her in an expensive wardrobe effectively resulting in her being called a “diva”. Now Palin has to extract herself from the old man and the sinking good ole boy’s party and strike out on her own. It doesn’t matter how many gaffes Biden makes, the GOP is circling the toilet of its own political death.

Posted by: Bob | October 27, 2008, 9:03 am 9:03 am

of course, sarah palin is a diva but a diva of twits and the ditzy. still, if palin/mccain win she is the next potus as mccain is a very old 72 and not in the best of health physically and most likely mentally. mccain would probably not live through the first term.

Posted by: Lawrence | October 27, 2008, 9:14 am 9:14 am

Do you really think we could impeach Obama if he “got tested” as Biden is afraid of? Not likely…..we would have another civil war on our hands. Do you really think McCain is going to die in the next 4 years……probably not. Hummm…lets see, Obama who raised 66% of his campaign funds from the hedge funders, fredie and fannie, all those golden parachute CEO’s, oprah, special interests, the smirching mainstream media (who can’t understand why we say they are biased), goofy hollywood actors who think because they act we should vote the way they do, etc., and only 44% from “small contributions” when he claimed all his campaign money came from the general public …. or Palin who spent way too much on clothes to dress for success or CNN, Hollywood, ABC, CNBC, Time, all Obamas student and black voting base would find something to pick her over for if she dressed in less………..isn’t it strange that if McCain or Palin says something negative then they’re terrible and according to CNN it will backfire, yet look at all the nasty remarks you democrats spew out…and with such extreme, violent, hatred its spooky…..I guess that’s your version of being positive…..Oh, I forgot us Republicans are desperate…Whos the liar? Liarbama, HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA ..You Democrats seem to like the HA,HA stuff, you use it enough..shows your maturity.

There is only one person in Sarah Palin’s world – Sarah Palin. She is #1 and anyone else comes after that.
She says and does what she wants when she wants. Where does her kids and husband fit in?
She will not make it on her own as vp or pres. She does not have the knowledge for this. She doesn’t know foreign policy, energy and economy. If you think we are in bad shape now, she would definitely not make it better as vp or pres.
Sarah Palin does not have the experience nor knowledge for these offices. Some of you people think she does, so be it. Ask her a question about foreign policy, she talks about energy, ask her a question that has a yes or no answer and she babbles on for 10 minues and has no answer. She doesn’t know what newspaper she reads – she reads them all???????
There were a lot of comments about Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric’s interviews, saying they were too hard on her. WHAT KIND OF BS IS THIS. They have asked this of other candidates (and received answers) why weren’t they considered too hard on them?
Alaska’s newspaper backed Obama, saying Palin is not qualified for this. What’s that telling us? What excuse are you Repub’s going to come up with for this???????

Posted by: smt | October 27, 2008, 9:43 am 9:43 am

I am tire of the liberal media always going after Gov. Palin. You look into OBAMA’S life. What happen during his time in the Illinois representation. Check to see how many times he took a decision. I read the senator’s governement website, I found how he votes. He has done nothing for us.
If he did not do anything while he could. What make people belief that he would do something greater now.
He is just a con-artist supporter by Hollywood and the BIAS media like ABC, CNN, NBC, AND MSNBC.
I read on Foxnews that some reporter dare to ask a question to Senator Biden regarding Obama’s Sharing the wealth comment. Biden got insulted and the Obama campaing suppress that news agency for getting near them. I think that is going to happen if Obama wins, the media that love him so much will be persecuted if dare to speak evil against him.

Posted by: Real_Thinker | October 27, 2008, 9:45 am 9:45 am

Real-Thinker – WAKE UP – What do you think Sarah Palin’s going to do for us? Why is the media going after palin? She can’t answer a question and evades them. She does not have the knowledge to do so.
Why are the media biased? They report things that are happening – following the campaign.
The reason Biden didn’t answer the question was due to the fact the reporter was acusing them of being Marxist. I wouldn’t answer and would also suppress any other interviews.
Watch and listen to Palin = she is avoiding issues and when asked questions avoids them.
Sorry

where is biden’s NEWEST ridiculous interview from the other day?? Whether or not you are voting for Biden’s ticket or not- which I am not- you have to acknowledge that if Palin said ANY of the ridiculous things he has gotten a pass for, the mainstream media would have magnified it so bad she might have had to drop from the race. The man actually said 14 blatant things that were not true in the debate and all i heard from the media is how many times Palin winked at cameras.

Posted by: dave | October 27, 2008, 9:56 am 9:56 am

Palin is about personal responsibility, which is what our country’s founding principles are based off of. I can’t understand why people who are backing obama have an overwhelming urge to ATTACK CAPITALISM and at the same time adamently defend SPREADING THE WEALTH AROUND?? Socialism does NOT WORK!! It kills the incentive for people to get an alarm clock, keep their legs closed before they get married and become productive members of society.

McCain/Palin

Posted by: equalityrpt | October 27, 2008, 12:52 pm 12:52 pm

If McCain losses it will because he is not Palin. Specifically McCain is closer to Liebermann. McCain instincts are far more liberal than Palin’s. Without Palin, McCain would have been done before Sept 1st 2008. McCain’s prospects are dim, but he at least he still has a chance.
Palin’s future depends whether the blood and guts of America has rolled over, and concede to socialism. The irony is that Bush and many republicans are closer to Obama than to Reagan. Currently the democrats are far to the left of Robert F. Kennedy, and Obama is so far left he would make Karl Marx blush.

If they substituted Tina Fey (who would know? Other than the “real” Palin and Fey and I doubt Fey would tell) not only would the GOP have somebody who is “with it,” but also smart and funny -emphasis on the smart.

Choosing Sarah Palin was the equivalent of a “Hail Mary” pass by McCain. It worked for a short time, but now they’re both dragging each other under. Palin’s trying to disentangle from McCain to save herself just like McCain has been doing, rather more desperately lately, with Bush. Trying to save yourself is a reflex action when you see disaster coming.

Posted by: Issa | October 27, 2008, 2:29 pm 2:29 pm

About this wardrobe thing that Palin won’t let go: The mistake they made was the sheer dollar amount spent to make over Palin. Nobody would complain if they spent $150 on a dress for her (like Michelle Obama does for herself and doing it very tastefully), or $100 for a hair job. But who in the world (besides Cindy McCain) spends $150,000 on clothes and makeup? I don’t even earn that much money for two years of hard work, and they blow it all in a couple of shopping trips?? And why the hell are taxpayers paying to dress up the First Dude and the kids … are they running for office and we just don’t know about it? Between this debacle and her unethical/illegal use of Alaskan taxpayer dollars to fund her family’s travel, shows this woman to be highly suspect when it comes to her personal ethics. We don’t need anyone that unethical, power-hungry and ignorant/uninterested in national and international affairs anywhere near the White House. Palin is going nowhere this election or the next, but back to Alaska.

I have read much of the many responses of the topic at hand. I’m so so sick and tired of what I’m reading on both sides. “McCain”, “Palin”, “Obama”, “Biden”? Why? For so long, growing up, the Dems party was recognized as the party for the poor and GOP for the rich. It has torn the nation apart across those lines. The rich continue to get rich and look for ways to insure they remain rich. (off the back of who). With this election, there has been so many things said, and so many believing purposeful spoon fed portional snippets of info to solidify there message. Stop drinking the koolaid & flying blindly into the bright lights! There is no better need to have an equally balanced third party.
Now, as far as Ms. Palen, she entered on the national spot light after both sides fought hard primaries. The GOP, expected the nation to except only what they shared about who she is. Well, I didn’t know who she was, and was not willing to “drink the Koolaid”. There should have been questions. there should have been honest hard hitting questions of politcal points. Everyone was scrambling to get to know her including the media. The outcome of keeping her cloisted in a protective cacoon,by the GOP handlers, was there own decision. The results are obvious. I usually take the stance, if I don’t know about something, I won’t or can not talk about it. So yes I was thirsting for knowledge of her. In the end, the media was left researching what little info there was to gather from second hand resorces. She was running to be second in line to run the most powerful nation in our current civilization.
It is so scary, that we as a nation are always pitting one against another as to who is more patriotic or “real Americans”. As a baby, born into this world, I didn’t have a clue I was born an American. I feel fortunate that I was born into this nation. I now know and come to learn, America has met and overcome many things in her short history. None, which we overcome, was done devided. As long as I’ve been able to vote for presidential elections, when my guy didn’t win, I had the resolve to support the one who was voted into office up until the current one. America is at a very serious & dire time, which once again, whoever is in office must pull together to work through these hard times.
Sooooo, Natasha, Robin, Grand Ole Party, concerned America, & redneckbob…. if your not part of the solution, your part of the problem. Are we ready to fight for America, so there will be one for our returning troops!!!

Both sides have made their points, both parties have picked (IMHO) poor candidates, and both candidates have picked a poor choice of running mate. In the past 16 years this country has seen some of the best and the worst of times. It is my belief that this polar switching is tearing the nation apart. Republican vs. Democrat, everyone except the extremists are ‘on the fence’ or at least willing to cross party lines about most issues the American people are dealing with today, but this election is wreaking havoc on sensibility of the American people. There is so much hatred brewing under this election cycle from both sides that I find it impossible to side with anyone on almost any level. Come election day pick who you will, but be prepared for some of the roughest times yet to come. At this point any party that takes the White House has been prestaged for failure. 476 A.D. the fall of Rome. 2008 A.D. … I fear that we America may be next great empire to fall. :(

Why is it that a smart, strong, confident and independent woman is labeled as a diva for being smart, strong, confident and independent? This is a prime example of the double standard for men and women. Biden talks about himself a lot and has publicly disagreed with Obama on many issues. I don’t here anyone calling him a diva. During the RNC, the vice presidential debate and any time after I have heard Palin talking about the mission the she and John are on. Self-righteous is not how I would describe her when I here her speak. I wonder how many of the critics have actually looked at the facts and listened to the parties for themselves. Most are just retelling lies they hear on TV and read in blogs. I hear criticism of Palin’s pricey wardrobe and in the next sentence people calling her a moose hunter, hypocrites. What saddens me is how easily the masses are bought with 6 million dollar “commercials” and rarely try to find the truth for themselves. Sarah Palin has more executive experience than Obama. She has proven she can make a decision. Obama, as a senator for Illinois voted “present” 130 times instead of yes or no… 130 times he proves he was unable to make a decision. Ready for Washington?… that is what people ask of Gov. Palin. The real question should be, is Obama?
