Palin Challenges Obama’s “Rhetorical Flourishes” Defense of Biden
ABC News’ Imtiyaz Delawala and Lisa Chinn Report: Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin challenged Sen. Barack Obama’s comments yesterday dismissing as "rhetorical flourishes" his running mate Sen. Joe Biden’s warning of an international crisis in their first six months in office, while charging that Obama is untested and not prepared to handle such crises if they do arise.
"And yesterday, we got a sample of how Barack Obama handles trouble when he hastily assembled the press to remind them after Biden’s quote, he said, ‘now Joe sometimes engages in some rhetorical flourishes,’" Palin told a crowd of thousands packed into an indoor area in Troy, Ohio today. "We’ll all concede that Barack Obama knows a thing or two about rhetorical flourishes. But I question dismissing Joe Biden’s moment of truth-telling as nothing more than a social embarrassment."
Palin then charged that Biden’s comments at a Seattle fundraiser on Sunday predicting an international crisis during the first six months of an Obama administration were a warning that Obama would "invite dangerous international crisis because he is untested" and that he would not be "ready to deal with" such a crisis if it did occur.
"And here his own running mate has just warned America — and it’s not the first time — he warned us throughout the primaries that Barack was not ready to be president. He reminded them that the election of Barack Obama will invite dangerous international crisis because he is untested," Palin said. "Senator Obama’s own running mate, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has informed us that a serious international crisis is certain if Obama is elected, and that he is not ready to deal with it."
"I want a president who is ready on day one," Palin continued. "I want a president with the experience and the judgment and the wisdom and the truthfulness to meet the next international crisis, or better yet, to avoid it."
Biden had said at the Seattle fundraiser that Obama would be tested by a "generated crisis" but he did not say in his remarks that he thought Obama would not be ready for that test.
"Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy," Biden said. "The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."
"As a student of history and having served with seven presidents, I guarantee you it’s gonna happen," Biden added.
While Obama yesterday dismissed Biden’s comments as "rhetorical flourishes," recent history does back Biden’s claim that the first months of a new presidency are often challenged by international and domestic crises.
President George W. Bush faced his first international challenge in April 2001, when a U.S. Navy reconnaissance plane collided with a Chinese fighter jet over disputed airspace, and was forced to land on a Chinese island. The U.S. crew of 24 was detained for 11 days before their release, in an international incident that foreign policy experts at the time thought may be the start of a new cold war with China. Such concerns receded five months later, when the U.S. was attacked on September 11, just nine months into Bush’s presidency.
In February 1993, just one month after President Bill Clinton’s inauguration, the World Trade Center was bombed in New York, killing six people and injuring over 1,000. Eight months later, Clinton faced the first major overseas challenge of his presidency when 18 U.S. soldiers were killed in Mogadishu, Somalia.
President George H.W. Bush faced an international crisis before his inauguration, when Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed over Scotland in December 1988, killing 180 Americans. And President Ronald Reagan, who Palin often cites on the campaign trail, faced an unexpected crisis just 69 days into his presidency, when he was shot and seriously wounded in an attempted assassination in March 1981.

So what would she do – run screaming through the Oval Office that there is aproblem and have to have the doctor give her a valium? What a wackjob – of course he handled the issue with calmness and even tempurment – unlike her like hysterical response. If you look back in history you’ll see that most new presidents are challenged with a problem – and Obama handles them exactly how I would want them handled – smoothly and without hysterics!

HERE IS WHAT AMERICANS WILL BE FACING IF BARACK OBAMA IS ELECTED – THE DARK AGES FOR AMERICA HAVE ALREADY STARTED!
PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Thursday, October 23, 2008:
“A knife-wielding man robbed a McCain-Palin campaign volunteer and etched a “B” into her face after he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the woman’s car, Pittsburgh police said.
Ashley Todd, 20, of College Station, Texas, was using an ATM at Liberty Avenue and Pearl Street in Bloomfield just before 9 p.m. Wednesday when a man approached her, put a knife to her throat and demanded $60, police said.
Todd handed the man $60 she had in her pocket and stepped away from him, investigators said. The man then noticed the bumper sticker on the woman’s car, which was parked in front of the ATM. The man became very angry, made comments to Todd about John McCain and punched her in the back of the head, knocking her to the ground, police said.
“He continued to kick and punch her repeatedly and said he would teach her a lesson for supporting John McCain,” said police Chief Nate Harper.”
Is this criminal a member Barack Obama’s “Truth Squad”?

Obama handled it with a calmness and smoothness that it should have been handled with – not hysterics like Palin would. I mean if she were in the WH and some major issue happened with another country she would need a valium in order to deal with it. Obama shows you that he is ready to be POTUS by not over-reacting to some minor (or major) issue by running screaming through the hallways

Sarah Palin is the most unqualified potential vice president and apparently she doesn’t know what a vice president does because there is no way she would be ready for a crisis if she would have to be president.

Bush didn’t retaliate against those who attacked the US on Sept. 11, 2001.
Instead, he used it as a reason to attack Iraq. Stupid.
OBAMA would do better if faced with a crisis. God forbid he has to.

The fact is Sarah Palin is unqualified and should not be talking about experience. I hope I never have to see her again after the election.

Sarah Palin needs to sit down and be quiet. Better yet, she needs to go back to Alaska on he road to nowhere and take care of her brats.

I’m surprised Sarah Palin knows what a “rhetorical flourish” is! Instead of scouring the media every day for something she can attack, she should pay more attention to her Troopergate deposition and the releasing of her health records as she promised to do. But I guess the polls dictate the tactics and if you’re behind you head for the kitchen sink!
Of course presidents are tested when they first come into office, but we don’t need a president who sings “bomb, bomb Iran”, (as McCain did) when he gets tested.

One_American – what happened was due to some drug seeking scum – not from anyone in the Obama campaign – for you to say so shows your true ignorance and the fact your afraid that black people will become something they are not. You must be a) white and b) a closet racist.
And TJ, THE CLINTONITE – you live in a republic – it has been since the begining. If you don’t believe me – just read the back of any one of your monetary bills in your pocket. Our society has already become socialistic due to our bailing out of Wall Street, so don’t be blaming Obama for what has already happened.
ANd for your information – I – a disabled veteran do not want a war hero (war monger)for POTUS – he doesn’t deserve it just because he was a POW. And he sure doesn’t have the capability to stay cool under pressure – we have seen that already in the many times he has been under pressure while campaigning.

The democrat’s choosing a community organizer as their partys nominee shows how out of touch they are with reality
————————-
Yah, we heard Palin sarcastically insulting community organizers at the RNC convention.
Funny that the “community organizer” has been kicking McCain and Palin’s butts because the orgaizational skills of his campiagn were far superior to the theirs.
They should have stepped aside and taken notes. Because they aren’t even going to be close in this one.
And you nimwits always like to ignore the EIGHT YEARS as an IL State Senator and TWO YEARS as a US Senator. But, no matter.
(Lastly, Palin’s “executive experience” is a joke. She was the mayor of a high school sized town with no responsibilty for anything but still managed to leave it 22 Million in debt. As Gov she has an ethics violation, abuse of power, and misapropiation of funds….. I’m so impressed)

And it will show the public what they voted for, a nut in a shell waiting to be cracked.

McCain is NOT a war hero. He was a POW and is a veteran but hes no hero. The heroes were on the ground facing enemy threats everyday. He collaborated with the enemy while a POW and actually was given comfort instead of torture. Hes friendly with the captors even today, that should say something. His fellow inmates called him ‘songbird’ because he gave information to the enemy. I am a vietnam vet who actually fought on the ground, and I dont consider myself a hero.

JR: Because he wants to raise the taxes of people making $250,000 or over and give the money to people like you. The tax money shouldn’t be given to people I don’t care if they are on SSI or Social Security. I agree with Joe the Plumber in what he said. Further more, Obama doesn’t have to raise any taxes. His mathematics is poor. A person making $250,000 is paying more taxes than a person making $50,000 to begin with so why raise taxes. When he said he wants to spread the wealth, he should take a million of his own money and spread it.

I seen a picture of his plane being shot down under enemy fire. He didn’t know if he was going to live or die. Wasn’t he dropping bombs on the enemy when he was shot down. He wasn’t flying for fun. He made more than one flight in that plane.

Vote for McCain/Palin for truth
DIDN’T palin lie about troopergate?
She then lied about the findings in the report.
She then lied on her expense reports.
She lied about the plane on Ebay.
She lied about the bridge to nowhere.
She’s been at this for only a few weeks. Seems pretty clear that “truth” has nothing to do with Sarah Palin.

You are an idiot with sh!t for brains. I do not consider you a hero either. You fought for this country to have the right of freedom of speech,(until Obama enacts the Fairness Doctrine), so you can support whatever candidate you want. But to besmirch a fellow soldier for surviving captivity by our enemies for 5 1/2 yrs is beyond reprehensible.
If you look at McCain’s before and after pictures, it is obvious he was not there on holiday. His fellow captors also tell the same story of torture.

I keep seeing and hearing about Barack Obama’s executive experience as compared to Sarah Palin.
Let us look at the facts:
Barack Obama’s is a senator of the 13th District of Illinois and the district has about 45,500 residents and covers 22 square miles.
Sarah Palin’s is governor of Alaska and Alaska has about 670,000 residents and covers 586,000 square miles.
The proof is in the numbers about who is the better choice and with the most executive experience. Sarah Palin is an action person, gets things done and has more executive experience. Send Sarah Palin to Washington, D.C.

Conoco, which is a partner in a Darwin LNG project and ALASKA LNG plant, entered the spot trading business this year to bid for LNG cargoes and resell them, Schuppert said.
You Betcha Palin Is A Tough Governor and a great executive:
Alaska could revoke leases for oil fields like Prudhoe Bay if top energy companies refuse to participate in a government natural gas pipeline plan, Gov Sarah Palin told Reuters in an interview.
Exxon Mobil Corp, BP Plc and ConocoPhillips together control more than 35 trillion cubic feet of known gas reserves on the Alaska North Slope.
But the companies declined to participate in a process backed by Palin to jump-start a long-delayed gas pipeline, arguing they needed a long-term tax deal from the state first.
Palin called the refusal “unconstitutional.”
“When the conditions of these leases are not met, especially after decades, it is time to open them up and allow other companies to come in here and compete for the right to tap the resources,” the Republican governor told Reuters this week in an interview.
The companies have said they are interested in developing the reserves, with ConocoPhillips studying a separate plan.
Sarah Palin more than talks about the future, she pushes to get it.
Japan, Buyers Face LNG Shortage After 2012, ConocoPhillips Says
By Dinakar Sethuraman
Oct. 23 (Bloomberg) — Japan, South Korea and Spain, the world’s three biggest buyers of liquefied natural gas, may find it difficult to secure supplies of the fuel between 2012 and 2015, pushing prices higher.
There may be a shortage of the cleaner-burning fuel after 2012 because of a lack of new projects, Gerard Schuppert, manager for global LNG marketing at ConocoPhillips, told reporters at the LNG Supplies for Asian Markets conference in Singapore.
“Only one project was sanctioned this year at Arzew in Algeria,” Andy Flower, a consultant and a former employee at BP Plc’s LNG business, said at the conference yesterday. “It takes about four years now to build a new train.” Three projects were approved in 2006 and 2007.
The decline in new project approvals, and the current financial crisis that’s reduced lending to projects, may slow growth in LNG supplies to between 4 percent and 5 percent annually in 2013 to 2020, Flower said. That’s down from growth of as much as 9 percent in 2007 to 2012. Output may grow 4.5 percent to about 177 million metric tons this year, he said.
Conoco, which is a partner in a Darwin LNG project and Alaska LNG plant, entered the spot trading business this year to bid for LNG cargoes and resell them, Schuppert said.
Only six of the world’s 17 LNG-producing countries showed an increase in exports of the fuel in the first nine months of this year, Flower said.
Send Sarah Palin to Washington, D.C. Obama will never equal Sarah Palin ‘s qualification for an executive position. Obama is all empty talk and empty promises. Sarah Palin is an action person and she gets results.

I like Sarah Palin’s tax program:
On Aug. 7, 2008, the Alaska Legislature approved a measure she promoted. The administration of Alaska’s governor Sarah Palin now gives $1,200 to every single Alaskan. This comes to about $741-million for state residents. In addition, each resident will receive an annual dividend of $2,000 from an oil-wealth savings account. That comes to about $741-million for state residents
For a family of 7 (Gov. Palin has 7 members in her family) that means an additional $22,400.00 in income sent from the state of Alaska. WOW, who needs a job! Back to the trailer, Billy Bob!
Sarah Palin is more ready for the Washington, D.C. crowd than Obama. Obama has proven he cannot even take care of a simple housing project. How can YOU expect Obama to run the country?
Obama wants to tax the oil companies and waste the collected taxes with federal government spending. The same $500,000,000 spending waste used for his housing projects in Illinois. Where did the tax dollars go?
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2008/06/27/grim_proving_ground_for_obamas_housing_policy/?page=1
Obama gave the people in Illinois broken down housing and dangerous living conditions. Where did the money go? What pockets were filled with tax payers’ money from Washington, D.C.? We know where Governor Sarah Palin’s tax money is. The tax money is in the pockets of the residents of Alaska. Sarah Palin is a great role model.
Anyone that votes for Obama is corrupt.
Sarah Palin is four times the better candidate when comparing to Obama. Obama who could not even run a housing project in Illinois. Obama has no idea how to run a country when Obama cannot run a housing project program.

Mariann, that’s not the point. The RNC spent $150,000 on clothes from high end stores. Not exactly where a hockey mom would shop for clothes. And that is exactly how she portrays herself. I think if they spent maybe $10,000 at JC Penny or Sears it would be no big deal.

I am sick of the “more executive experience” comment. Since NONE of the other candidates–including her own running mate–have the kind of “executive experience” that Sarah Palin has, maybe the Republicans should switch the ticket and put her on the top. Please don’t confuse her competitive drive to win with gravitas to lead. I, for one, don’t wish to see another 4 years of “my way or the highway” style of partisan politics. Palin is NOT stupid–she’s ambitious. Add a dash of “go with the gut” and take away intellectual curiosity, and you’ve got a recipe for disaster (pick any of the 4 or 5 Joe Biden referenced)

Let’s see, the Dumocrats cause a financial melt down costing the world financial markets about 10 trillion dollars. Now Dumocrats talk about Palin’s charges that are legal expenditures. $10,000,000,000,000.00 for Dumocrats vs. $21,012.00 for Sarah Palin..
Obama spends millions of taxpayers’ dollars on a housing project in Illinois that is unsafe and falling apart. $500,000,000.00 for Obama vs. $21,012.00 for Sarah Palin
Governor Sarah Palin sells the Alaskan governors jet that cost taxpayers’ into the millions for maintenance costs, inspections and hanger fees. $4,500,000 vs. $21,012.00.
You see the children could have sat on the governors jet free, but you betcha Sarah knows that costs more than regular airfare. Sarah sold the jet.
The figures tell the truth! Fight Dumocrat corruption by Send Sarah Palin to Washington, D.C..

Joe Biden’s exact words:
The same Joe Biden said he would be honored to run on the ticket with John McCain because, quote, “the country would be better off.” And here we have some common ground. I want a president who spent 22 years in uniform defending our country. I want a president who isn’t afraid to use the word “victory” when he talks about the wars we are fighting. I want a president who’s ready on Day One. I want a president with the experience and the judgment and the wisdom to meet the next international crisis – or better yet to avoid it. I want John McCain as our commander-in-chief.
Obama has no executive experience.

Sarah Palin couldn’t sell her jet on eBay so she takes a loss selling it with an aircraft broker. Then she “borrows” the jet used by law enforcement to travel around Alaska. What’s the difference??? She’s still using taxpayer money to travel around the state–at a loss of revenue to the citizens of Alaska. Not sure that’s sound fiscal policy… must be all that “executive experience” folks keep talkin’ about. Please, people. Quit spewing talking points, and start searching “the internets.”

Palin is right, there is no defense of Biden. He either 1) has classified information, but can’t keep his mouth shut, 2) has buyer’s remorse over Obama and is warning us, 3) or is fantasizing like he did during the VP debate when he said the US and France had kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon. Of course to call Biden a moron would be an insult to morons everywhere.

Racist men, women and male chauvinist FEAR Sarah Palin because they know she can succeed and that frightens men more than Obama’s questionable terrorist friendships. The world is changing and women are equal to men and men cannot take the competition. In all history, men have been the puppets for women.
There is a long list of successful women business leaders and successful women leading their country.
Michelle Bachelet, a moderate socialist who is Chile’s first female president and only the second woman ever elected to lead a South American nation, was sworn in last March. Reformer Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, the first female president on the African continent, now runs Liberia and is helping to put Charles Taylor, the disgraced former president, on trial for war crimes and crimes against humanity related to the conflict in Sierra Leone. And Han Myung-sook, a former dissident who was once jailed as a political prisoner, became South Korea’s first female prime minister in April.
Margaret Beckett became the U.K.’s first female foreign minister in May, replacing Jack Straw, who had been Prime Minister Tony Blair’s key spokesman leading up to the war in Iraq. Also in May, Tzipora Livni was appointed as Israel’s second most powerful politician, adding the vice prime ministership title to her foreign ministry post. Dora Bakoyannis is the first women ever appointed to a senior cabinet position in Greece. Nigeria’s Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, after a cabinet reshuffle in June, moved from her post as finance minister to foreign affairs; she is considered a presidential front-runner in the next election. Don’t forget the little giant that runs the Philippines, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo who deals with terrorists on a daily basis.
Women continue to gain ground running foreign affairs. Condoleezza Rice, for example, continued hammering away as the U.S.’s top diplomat, attempting to midwife a cease-fire in the Middle East as well as stitch together an international compromise to get Iran and North Korea back to the nuclear negotiating table.
On Aug. 7, 2008, the Alaska Legislature approved a measure she promoted. The administration of Alaska’s governor Sarah Palin now gives $1,200 to every single Alaskan. You should be ashamed of yourself to speak to a Viet Nam vet that way! Who the hell do you think you are to say such despicable things to someone who fought for our country?! I’ll bet that is more than you’ve done!
Mccain isn’t anything special, He’s an average POW who gave in and talked to get better treatment, which he did get. There were others there who never talked and were tortured for their whole stay.
McCain was a spoiled screw-up who was fequently in trouble and had to use family connections to get himself out of it.
He has sold out the principles he did have because he wants the presidency so badly! He showed what kind of judgment he had when he chose Sarah Palin for VP.
He has driven away more people than he has attracted by his behavior. We voted for Obama/Biden yesterday, and as someone above said, it sure felt good!

I’m a woman, and I’m not voting for Palin. Reproductive organs do not matter when it comes to leadership. Sure, there are great women leaders all OVER the world, and we should have had a female in the oval office long before now. Sarah Palin’s style of leadership is the same as George Bush’s…and that’s not what we need running our country right now. There are plenty of qualified Republican and Democratic women who would be better suited for the presidency. But the key word in the previous post was MODERATE. That is not an adjective used when describing Sarah Palin.
Let’s try diplomacy again. Civil discourse. That’s what BlackJack’s women all have in common. And Sarah Palin doesn’t have either.

More lying which is the hallmark of republicans. Here are the facts. As a U.S. Senator from Illinois Obama represents more people than McCain and Palin combined. Read the following and weep.
Projected population of Arizona in 2010 6,637,381
Projected population of Alaska in 2010 694,109
Projected population of Illinois in 2010 12,916,894
I challenge you to argue with a straight face that experience in Wasilla City Hall is more valuable than experience in the Illinois State Capitol.
Let’s add some more details. As a state senator, Barack Obama represented Illinois State Senate District 13. The population of Obama’s former district was 210,496 in 2002. The current population of Wasilla, Alaska is estimated at 9,780. In 2000 the population of Wasilla was even less, just 5,469 according to U.S. census data. But that’s not all: the current population of the entire state of Alaska is estimated at just 683,478. In case you were wondering, the total population of the state of Illinois, which Obama is serving as a U.S. senator, is estimated at 12,852,548. Keep that in mind next time you hear a Republican pundit refer to Sarah Palin as the governor of the largest state in the Union.
Correction: The population of the 13th State Senate District in Illinois, which Obama served as a state senator, was not 653,647 as previously stated. That figure describes the population of the 13th Congressional District of Illinois. According to records of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), the population of the 13th State Senate District of Illinois was actually 210,496 in 2002. This is about a third of Alaska’s current population. However, it is still more than twenty times greater than Wasilla’s population figure. In addition, the population of the entire state of Illinois (12,852,548) is also about eighteen times larger than the population of Alaska (683,478).

Give me the John McCain of 2000: Straight Talk, not double-talk; moderate, not pandering; maverick, not mousey; rebuking the nasty Robo-Calls, not re-cycling the nasty Robo-Calls; honorable, not dishonorable. I voted in the primary for John McCain back in 2000, when he was a true maverick. Loved his passion, his temper, his MODERATE positions. This campaign shows you what happens when you sell your soul to win an election. Sad. Very sad.

Twice last weekend, Biden grimly warned at closed-door meetings that a great crisis is coming early in the term of President Obama:
“Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. … Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said … we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.”
A “generated crisis”? By whom? Moscow? Beijing? Tehran?
This is an astonishing statement from the CHAIRMAN of the Foreign Relations Committee who has access to the same intelligence as President Bush. Was Joe warning of a crisis like the Berlin Wall of July 1961, where JFK called for a tripling of the draft and ordered a call-up of reserves, or the missile crisis where U.S. pilots like John McCain were minutes away from bombing nuclear missile sites in Cuba and killing the Russians manning them?
Is Russia about to move on the Crimea? Is Israel about to launch air strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites? What is Joe talking about?
If one assumes Joe is a serious man, we have a right to know.
Instead, what we got was Obama’s airy dismissal of Joe’s words as a “rhetorical flourish” and a media – rather than demanding that Joe hold a press conference – acting as Obama surrogates parroting the talking points that Joe was just saying that new presidents always face tests.
Had John McCain made that hair-raising statement, he would have been accused of fear mongering about a new 9/11. The media would have run with the story rather than have smothered it.
Has anyone ever asked Joe about his own and his party’s role in cutting off aid to South Vietnam, leading to the greatest strategic defeat in U.S. history and the Cambodian HOLOCAUST? Has anyone ever asked Joe about the role he and his party played in working to block Reagan’s deployment of Pershing missiles in Europe, and SDI, which Gorbachev concedes BROKE the Soviets and WON the Cold War?
Is Joe’s record of having been wrong on Vietnam, wrong in the Cold War, and wrong on the Surge, less important than whether Sarah Palin tried to get fired a rogue-cop brother-in-law who Tasered her 10-year-old nephew to “teach him a lesson”?

I see you all have not lost your fight :
GOOD! Because we have a lot to do. You! (the American people) are going to have to take back control of your elected government at every level, and set your government back on the right path of service to you, and the greater good of the World.
Barack Obama and the democrats are your best hope of doing that now. Tell your family, friends, and everyone you know to support them as best they can. Because the Bush McCain vote fraud, vote cheating, vote buying, vote manipulation machine is already hard at work to cheat you again. And we all know what a disaster that has been the past 8 years of Bush McCain.
Barack Obama and the democrats will need all the power you can give them at every level of government (Federal, State, County, and local City elected governments). Obama and the democrats will have an enormous mess to fix for the American people, and the rest of the World. A mess caused by the corrupt Bush McCain administration.
You see, starting back in 2000, and before 911, it was mostly the Republican governors, Republican legislatures, and county elected Republican officials that conspired with the corrupt Bush McCain administration to raise college, and university tuitions by the fastest, and highest rate increases in American history. Some state tuitions went up by as much as a WHOPPING! 30% in one year.
The reason the Bush McCain administration did this was to force struggling working class kids into the military to pay for the sudden jump in tuition. Which was forced on them by the corrupt Bush McCain administration, and their corrupt Republican Governors, and republican controlled state legislatures.
See, Bush McCain had plans to get us into all these immoral, foolish, criminal, and unnecessary wars from the start. So they could use these wars to seize power, and later to get reelected. But, for their evil plan to work they needed more volunteer soldiers struggling to pay for an education whose blood they could spill to help them seize more power. Remember Bush McCain’s “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!” theatrics.
The exploitation, and lost lives of these finest Americans is despicable, disgusting, immoral, corrupt and criminal. And it makes me SICK, and ANGRY!
You will have to vote for Obama, and the democrats in overwhelming numbers to overcome the Bush McCain vote fraud machine. Vote early if you can. Then help your fellow Americans cast their votes now, and on through election day. Vote for Obama, and the democrats like your life, and the lives of your loved ones depends on it. Because it does. You will not survive 4 more years of “Let Them Eat Cake” Bush McCain, and their republican allies.
Just look at the mess we have now.
You can fix this mess with your votes for Obama, and the democrats. And REMEMBER, no matter which of us may stumble or fall, the rest of you must continue to surge forward for Barack Obama, and the democrats, and for your-selves most of all. The children, and the World are counting on us.
It’s in your hands now. And I know you will get it done.
God bless all of you.

This is the part that concerns me the most. He also stated Obama would potentially make unpopular decisions and that people would freak out because the polls would tank.
I believe that Americans (regardless of who anyone currently supports) have a right to more information about these “unpopular decisions”.
Why would they by unpopular to Obama supporters? Would this crisis lead him to renege on his promises? Why are the next 2 years going to be tough? What will be tough about them?
Biden’s statements and Obama’s somewhat vague response were not inspiring and did not build confidence. To me, Biden’s at least, came off as some kind of scare tactic.

Here’s an example of “democratic” financial responsibility, tax policy, and dishonesty:
WHO screwed up Social Security??
When Social Security began the “democrats” SAID:
Participation would be VOLUNTARY.
The contributions would be TAX-DEDUCTIBLE.
The funds wouldn’t be used for anything ELSE, and
interest would ADD to the account.
The payouts would NEVER BE TAXED.
LBJ & demo majorities in the House and Senate put the
funds in the General Fund so they could use it for
their pet projects (PORK), no interest adds to the
fund now!
CARTER & demo majorities in the House and Senate
gave Social Security to immigrants who had never
PAID IN!
CLINTON & demo majorities in the House and Senate
made the CONTRIBUTIONS taxable, AND made the
PAYOUTS taxable! (Al Gore cast the deciding vote on
the payouts!)
OBAMA wants to GIVE Social Security to the 11 million
ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS that are here, ALONG WITH
Medicare! (Think more or them will come then to get
in on THAT?) AND, with demo majorities in the House
and Senate, he’ll SUCCEED!
AND, after all THAT, the “democrats” have the GALL to
blame Republicans for the mess Social Security is in!

I guess the “poof” is in the pudding…
We can’t let either party off the hook when it comes to blame for the financial crisis we’re in. The Democratic party supported the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac lending policies. And the Republicans allowed (or looked the other way) in relaxing the restrictions and regulations on banking and lending institutions. Add in a heaping dose of guilt and greed by those lending institutions by not having the capital to back up the lending they were profiting from (lending $40 to every dollar they had on hand). And then we have to blame the folks who took out loans that they knew they couldn’t possibly afford to pay. Common sense was missing across the board. Even Alan Greenspan can take some of the blame by not heeding a warning back in 1994 about a potential crisis in the making.
I think everyone gets the blame, and therefore a pass for being both (a) stupid, (b) greedy, and (c) careless. This isn’t partisan…it’s pathetic.

Instead of psychoanalyzing Palin’s response (which was entirely appropriate and valid), Democrats should be concerned that their VP nominee is so loony that his would-be boss repeatedly has to excuse his off-the-wall comments as “rhetorical flourishes,” meaning that they are too stupid for even Obama to take seriously. On the other hand, if you want to take Biden seriously, he has made an eloquent argument for why no one should elect Obama and invite an attack on the USA.

I guess Sarah doesn’t pay too much attention to her party’s own supporters like Joe Lieberman who back in June stated “whoever is elected president will be tested in the first 6 months of office” he went on to cite a number of examples including Bush & Clinton.
I guess that since those statements took place in June it was before Sarah started to read newspapers and magazines.
At least she’s well dressed and setting a good example for the rest of the population who have to make do with their wardrobe.
Socialism, give me a break, what do you think the current tax system does? It takes your money and moves it around. No different than what Obama has stated.
Besides the biggest example of socialism is the bailout and both candidates supported it.
As for McCain’s claim that he was tested, how so. As a pilot? Not to mention that was more than 40 years ago, times they are a changing.
It is time for a change and Sarah it is not your time, thank god.

Oh, and Donna, I doubt you or SemperFi would survive what John McCain did. Listen to his fellow comrades who were there and look at the before and after pictures. Got caught plagerizing his biography speech, of all things, and dropped out of 1988 race in disgrace.
Doesn’t have a great senate record in foreign ploicy either- Most of his foreign policy positions have failed, consistently had bad assumptions and flawed judgement.
Opposed the Iraq surge

Consistently opposed moderization of our strategic nuclear forces.

If you want to ask Biden about any of this, he’s still sitting at Katie’s Restaurant waiting for service. (it closed 15 yrs ago, but according to him he still goes there.)

All the “spread the wealth” is going to accomplish is people not climbing the ladder of success but trying to stay under the $250,000 so they can keep more of their hard earned dollars. The wealthy will just move their businesses and bank accounts overseas. Who will be left holding the bag for all the socialist programs Obama is planning?
Obama voted too many times to raise taxes on income $42,000 and up for me to believe the $250,000 bull.
I see in my crystal ball that Obama will come back and say, “well, uh, uh, um you see, we are going to, uh um, have to raise taxes on uh um those making $42,000, to give those “behind” you something to live on.”
Don’t forget that when businesses are taxed more they get the money back by increasing their products and services, meaning the wealthy will get their money back and we will pay for their tax hikes.
Inflation! Jimmy Carters 2nd term!

NOBAMA? McPAIN? OBAMANUTS? McSAME? LOL. The bumper sticker business hasn’t been hit by the recession yet! lol
Sean A — Take this with a grain of salt/sand, but read the Rolling Stone article about John McCain’s years in the Navy. It’s got a definite left slant to it, but it does shed some light on John McCain’s military service. Also, McCain’s autobiography doesn’t refute a lot of the information in the Rolling Stone article. As a former veteran myself, I served with some VERY honorable people (even married one), and some who did a disservice to the uniform.
Wearing a uniform should not, by itself, be a free pass to the White House. We should honor John McCain for his service in the Navy. We should also honor our duty as American citizens to look past rhetoric and carefully consider all aspects of our candidates’ careers. Are they ethical? Do they have the wisdom and capacity to weigh difficult situations and make decisions that make our country better and protect our citizens? Are they good leaders?
All this babble about executive experience is just that–babble. IMHO, George W. Bush was a two-term governor of Texas with executive experience galore. However, I don’t think he used his experience wisely or compassionately to bring our country together.
Every U.S. president was tested, and will continue to be tested. Trying to fix our economy is the first test of the next president, no matter who gets elected. And if that’s not handled carefully, it won’t really matter what happens around the world. We won’t be able to fix anything if we are broken.
So ends my pompous windbaggery. Happy reading.

We are not the least bit afraid that setting the tax rates to pre-Bush levels is going to hurt the economy. Its Republican baloney.
As for Biden’s intelligence: compared to whom? Bush? McCain? Palin?
I could try and list all the absolutely stupid things that these idiots have done and said but I just don’t have a spare week.

Memo to McCain supporters: When your comments are openly hostile, openly prejudiced, openly ignorant, like your candidate of choice, you lose all credibility. You make yourself a joke. And that’s why McCain will lose. Not only for his own lies, distortions and fear mongering, but because he has proudly ignorant people like you supporting him. You’ll all have only yourselves to blame when McCain loses. Our country thanks you. Keep up the good work!

There has been nastiness on both sides. The Dems hands are not clean, hence, the disgusting T-shirt about Palin and female anatomy and the woman attacked for having a McCain/Palin bumper sticker or the elderly lady holding a McCain sign.
Also, the media has been instigating the mess by giving Obama 70% more postive air time compared to McCain at 25%. The McCain supporters are mad, as they should be.
The fear mongering from the left is just as bad, i.e., telling the elderly their Soc Sec will be cut under a McCain administration which is blatantly false.
Ignorance is rampant on both sides.

Palin missed the ‘Obama has a spine of steel’ part of this quote, since the media didn’t report it.
she also missed…
Governor, let me ask you about immigration. How many undocumented immigrants are there in Alaska?
I don’t know, I don’t know. That’s a good question.
Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants?
No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty.
To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?
I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

Kels–that is the point I am getting at. I also read “Faith of my fathers”, he deserves respect for his service in the military, as do all who put on the uniform with the thought of defending our country.
As for Bush, he was a great governor of my state of Texas and did some very good things for our economy, which remains strong, despite the rest of the country. He also did well his first 6 yrs, (barring the Iraq war which was a mistake). He is definitely going out in shame though. Most of the financial crisis we are in started way back with the Reinvestment Act of Jimmy Carter, and had a domino effect, but as President he should have seen this coming, and probably would have if he wasn’t so focused on the war in Iraq.

Sean A–read my earlier post. This economic crisis is NOT solely the fault of Carter, H. Bush, Clinton, or W. Bush. We ALL take some responsibility. I think it’s a cop-out for Republicans to pull the “it’s all Clinton’s fault” bit. George W. Bush has been in office for nearly 8 years. Yes, some of the policies were in place when he took office, but you can’t deny that he’s had a hand in governing the country/making good or bad decisions during his presidency.
Look, I voted for McCain in the 2000 primary, Gore in 2000, and Ron Paul in this election’s primary season. I’m all over the map, not a patriot blinded by party.
I think folks like Rush Limbaugh are, to borrow a phrase from a member of the elite Washington media, a cancer in the body of America. Same with Sean Hannity and some hosts on liberal talk radio (although I have to PAY to listen to THEM). Until we can discuss politics without using McNames and O-insults, we’re not going to get past lipstick and plumbers.

Kels–did I say it was Clinton’s fault? No I did not. I said it started with Carter’s era and had a domino effect. You are arguing with me when I said I agreed with you. I’ve also voted “all over the place”. McCain was not my first or second choice, he’s what was left. I voted for Hillary in the primary’s. But I had to choose the lesser of two evils, and that seems to be McCain. He had to prove himelf to me though, and the more I hear him speak, the better I feel about him which direction he wants this country to go in.
Bush has gotten away from his conservative base and is more in line with the socialist base we are so against. Obama actually has more in common with Bush than McCain.

Obama certainly knows about rhetorical flourishes, they are the foundation of his whole campaign. And he says a whole lot about nothing. Why is he not being called out by the media for this and for his ultra thin resume? Has he given the media an Obama lobotomy or has he bought them off?

Sean A
The difference with Mccain is that he has milked his POW experience long and hard and for all it was worth.
My father was in WW2. He had to sign a paper and get clearance to go in because he had been burned badly on his leg when he was a boy. He was awarded a bronze star, but would never tell why. I finally had to pry it out of an old army buddy of his. As it turned out, he had scrounged together enough parts of this, that and the other thing to construct a sort of iron lung to save a badly wounded soldier’s life.
Now my dad didn’t go around trying to capitalize on what he did, and I never even knew that he had to work at it to even get into the Army until my uncle told me several years ago.
Put that together with McCain being a sloppy flier who wrecked planes and then got away with stuff because of having his family pull strings to get him out of trouble, and some other unsavory things like dumping his wife, and how he has sold out his principles in order to please the neocons, the smears he has engaged in, and I
don’t have much respect for him.
But I wouldn’t unleash the mouthful of vulgar obscenity that you leveled at SemperFi to a vet! The words you said to him reflect upon yourself exactly!

Good point, Sean A. We’ll have to agree to disagree on who will be best for the country. I lost my respect for McCain when he voted with Bush to allow the CIA to (for lack of a better way to say it) use torture. He had my respect when he stood up against Republicans who were justifying waterboarding, or who couldn’t say if waterboarding was torture or not. John McCain said it was torture, he had the chops to say so, and then voted to allow it. He was a victim of torture, had the history and experience to challenge his peers and call it what it was, and then capitulated. If he can’t stand up for something he physically and emotionally believes in (I re-watched the C-SPAN video of the hearings–he was passionate about following the Geneva Convention and definitely anti-waterboarding/torture), then I can’t stand with him at the voting booth. He lost me on that ONE vote.
And then there was the robo-calling…Again, a victim of diabolical behavior that he protested against, only to capitulate one more time. That solidified by support for the other guy (“that one”).
I won’t capitulate.

Donna Hughes–I turned the words back on SemperFi. Good for your Dad. I also had many family members who served in WWII and Vietnam. McCain’s record has been distorted by the left because his service was making Obama look bad. You have fallen for all the left wing”rhetoric”.
And like the left-wing, you are also distorting facts. I called him an idiot because what he said was idiotic and UNTRUE. It wasn’t exactly a mouthful.. Scroll through the comments here and you will find a lot worse by your fellow liberals to McCain supporters who are simply stating their opinion.
Posted by: Sean A | October 24, 2008, 12:13 am 12:13 am
Kels–McCain has always been against torture. He has always spoken out against it.
I think that our form of torture though is nothing like the torture Americans have been subjected to. Even if we follow the Geneva convention, our enemies do not. All of those prisoners in Guantanomo Bay would cut our head off in a second if given a chance.
Our form of torture has also given us vital information that has thwarted attacks, but has not killed a prisoner. So in some ways I disagree with McCain on that one.
I’m not trying to change your mind, just as the Obama supporters would never change mine.
The robo-calling and the re-robo-calling back is ridiculous on both sides. The American people should not be subjected to that and equals harrassment from both sides.
My son wrote in Ron Paul on his ballot, maybe we should all do that. Wouldn’t McCain and Obama freak if a third party crept up behind them and won the election while they were playing the “gotcha” game?
Posted by: Sean A | October 24, 2008, 12:23 am 12:23 am
Both politicians (McCain and Obama) have been dishonest at one time or the other. But McCain has taken deceit to another level. Moreover his interpretation of Obama’s policy leaves you wondering how he would interpret security alerts.
As for Palin, the only thing going for her is sex appeal, which is only good for her husband, well unless she is willing to(to borrow the now popular phrase) spread some of her around…

hello i have heard that there is the former deputy attorney general of the state of pennsilvania who is suing barack obama on the grounds that he is not a nationalized us citizen.the former attorney general says that barack obama has not produced a real ligit birth certificate.that the birth certificate or so called legal document he has on his web site posted is not real.the law suit which was filed in the 3rd district court of appeals in the state of penn alledges that obama was born in the country of kenya and not the state of hawaii and other allegations that have surfaced in reference to the suit.the constitution clearly states that you must be a u.s.born citizen and if this story is true why has the big news media outlets not picked up on this story, why has the mccain campaign not made a issue of this at all.why has the politicians ignored this potentially damaging story.this law suit was filed by a prominent democrat who was a former deputy attorney general of a major state and has previously run for the us senate and govenor of pennsilvania.i say why does’nt barack obama just come out and show the country that he is a born citizen of the usa and show the real birth certificate and produce it.why does he not come clean with this.i believe obama is the better candidate for president and would vote for him.but i am discouraged because of this allegation coming from a important democratic polititian.i am sorry but i do not have the name of this politician.i really hope that someone,a reporter or a important official looks into this story.thanks.alex in miami,fl

Anyway, Obama would not run the country himself but Biden would run it in the background. Obama has no experience to run a country. Obama was only elected as presidential candidate because a black candidate is a better drawing card in view of the vast majority of black people in the States than a female candidate would be.
All this was mere calculation by the Democrats, but no serious decision but only a decision of how to come to power best, the whole election is a joke.

Sarah Palin nailed Barack Hussein Obama and Joe Biden. Not only does he lack foreign policy experience, Joe Biden has been wrong on all the foreign policy issues. Also Obama already stated he would meet without pre-conditions. Something that caused Clinton, Biden, Dodd laugh at his comments. How do you defend those comments by Biden? Oh and Hillary said the same thing. By the way, why is it that 4 years ago the media was trying to crawl up Cheny’s butt over his connection to Haliburton. Now the media turns the other cheek about Obama’s alliances to Ayers/Wright/Rezko/Kahildi/Dorhn/Faarakam…. All of those people are ANTI-AMERICA.
Keep it up Sarah, you’re right on

I will stay in Europe, as an academic with an high income in sight, I don’t want an Obama to spread my money around or to get beaten up by a black because I am for McCain and Palin and wouls show this with a sticker on my car or to get discriminated one day when I will be older or to get run down for being a woman. Biden’s words were very specific. Not only will Sen. Obama will be tested, but HIS RESPONSE to the crisis will be perceived as wrong, thus the call for support when it happens. Biden belives that Sen. Obama is not ready to face such a crisis. If your running mate believes this, what should we believe?

Guy, just look at history. I do not believe Biden should have made the statement but, he said out loud what history proves to be true. Also, yes McCain is a war hero but he TOO has not been tested as the President of the United States so his claim is bogus… Truth be told and drama aside whom ever wins WILL BE tested war hero or Not….

Why? Because in the end, against the wishes of the MSM, like ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, NY Times, LA Times, PBS – who are all cheerleading for The Messiah with a Thin Resume, the American people will defy the media elites and the dingbats in Hollywood.
Barry Hussein has ZERO executive experience.
Barry Hussein has ZERO legislative accomplishments in the US Senate.
Barry Hussein has ZERO legistative accomplishments in the Illinois state legislature.
Barry Hussein has terrorist, communist, socialist and radical muslim associations and alliances but the MSM has filtered this out in the effort to elect the “magic negro” of literature lore.

Say goodbye to the free help, or the big package under the tree, or the new car for graduation!! Mom and Dad are not going to have any extra money next year when Obama is elected. I know because I am one of those parents. I don’t make 250K but I will still see taxes go up because for every dollar I make extra to pay for college 40% goes to all the taxes. Once Obama is in office, social security taxes goes up, capital gains etc. What little extra I have will be gone. So start looking for a job or find a lender, because Mom and Dad are broke!!!!!
