Pennsylvania: McCain’s Ultimate Must-Win State
Pennsylvania has become the ultimate must-win state for John McCain. Four years ago it was all about Ohio. Four years before that the election hinged on Florida. But on Tuesday night, watch Pennsylvania. Here’s why: right now Barack Obama is ahead in a range of states that were won by Republicans last time around, including Virginia and Ohio. He’s also leading McCain is states like Colorado by six points, in Nevada by seven points, and North Carolina by six points. The only way McCain can find a viable path to 270 electoral votes is if he steals Pennsylvania’s 21 electoral votes away from the Democrats. But it’s not going to be easy. It’s a state that hasn’t gone for a Republican presidential candidate since George H.W. Bush in 1988. And Obama is leading McCain in Pennsylvania by double-digits, according to some state polls. Still, McCain is hoping he can sway Independents and working-class voters there, many who went for Sen. Hillary Clinton in the primaries. That’s why he has spent so much time there.
That’s why the McCain campaign has lavished so much money there. It’s why they keep coming back to the state again and again. It’s McCain’s must-win state Tuesday night. –George Stephanopoulos

The thing that is most bizarre about the election map is that McCain’s own state is only leaning towards him. To me, that says the people that “really know anything about him”, will probably vote no to McCain — probably due to his own poor choices of associations.
Oh, the irony!

pt – I hope you’re right, both times. I just find it amazing and unbelievable that after the last eight years that literally has brought our country to its knees, ANYONE could vote for a republican ticket. Whether it’s economic issues or national security, Obama is far superior in terms of intelligence, rationality, steadiness, and better for the country as a whole. It shakes me to the core to think of McCain and Palin in charge.

Many in Ohio including my husband and I are voting McCain. I was a Hillary supporter and we strongly feel that the democratic party did whatever possible to ensure her defeat. We all forget Michigan and Florida and Howard Deans rules that penalized these states. This secured Obama’s noimination. The dems did not want Hillary so they stacked what they could against her. That is where they lost me and many others. I also voted democratically since I’ve been a registerd voter. (not because of pro-choice either) My party thinks I don’t pay attention to ALL that has gone on in the last two years. I see another attempt to push women out and stiffle us. I will not tolerate it. Vote McCain!
Posted by: Amanda | October 31, 2008, 8:54 am 8:54 am
Sorry you feel that way Amanda, but Michigan and Florida did it to themselves by going against the party rules and scheduling their primaries when they did. Hillary was a good candidate and any other year she would have been the nominee. But her campaign failed the same way that McCain is failing. No clear cut message..she was experienced…then she was the change candidate. I think if you truly dissect what occurred Hillary failed to respect what Obama was able to do with his grass roots campaign. To vote for McCain is to go against everything that Hillary ran for. Her and Obama’s positions are pratically identical. It is your vote and you have decided, just as I have here in PA to vote for Obama.
May the best candidate win Tuesday.
My hope is that it is the candidate of Hope and Change

Year after year, I do understand why the anyone in the working class (making less than $30,000 single or $50,000 for a family) would vote Republican, as the party now stands. They may share your social values on issues like guns and abortion, but their economic policies have consistently made the working classes poorer. It’s simply a fact. Don’t buy into the nonsense about “socialism” or “class warfare”. Mainstream Democrats are no Marxists. But they do have poorer people in mind when it comes to tax policy. By voting Republican — presumably for social policy reasons — poor Americans only make Wall Street fat cats richer.

10 REASONS MCCAIN SHOULD NOT WIN PA
1. He is weak on the economy – he has admitted it, and his aides have confirmed it.
2. He has run a disgustingly negative campaign.
3. Obama’s plan on healthcare is better – and two days ago a McCain aide admitted it.
4. McCain’s temperment is not suited to the presidency. He is petty, vindictive, and has a killer temper. Obama, by contrast, is calm and deliberative.
5. Obama has a better “ground game.” More state offices, more involvement.
6. Like in the primaries, the high profile endorsements are tipping Obama’s way – most notably Colin Powell.
7. Rendell is a good Governor – and a strong Obama supporter.
8. McCain will be a continuation of George Bush. He has NEVER effectively answered this charge. Saying a zinger in a debate is not a rebuttal.
9. Sarah Palin.
10. Sarah Palin.

A question of perspective
Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin
What if things were switched around? Think about it. Would the country’s collective point of view be different?
What if the Obama’s had paraded five children across the stage, including a three-month-old infant and an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter?
What if John McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review?
What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?•
What if McCain had only married once, and Obama was a divorcee?•
What if Obama was the candidate who left his first wife after a severe disfiguring car accident, when she no longer measured up to his standards?•
What if Obama had met his second wife in a bar and had a long affair while he was still married? •
What if Michelle Obama was the wife who not only became addicted to painkillers but also acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?•
What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?•
What if Obama had been a member of the Keating Five? (The Keating Five were 5 US Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s.)•
What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker?•
What if Obama couldn’t read from a teleprompter?•
What if Obama was the one who had military experience that included discipline problems and a record of crashing seven planes?•
What if Obama was the one who was known to display publicly, on many occasions, a serious anger management problem?•
What if Michelle Obama’s family had made their money from beer distribution?•
What if the Obama’s had adopted a white child?•
If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?
This is racism and fanaticism pure and simple. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another.

Palin’s medical records?
Everyone knows that Trig is her oldest daughter’s child and not Sarah Palin’s.
Why else would a healthy, “fine”, athletic woman in her condition not want to release them? Sarah says release them and McCain’s handlers say no.
It’s ok Sarah, we already know. We also know that the shotgun wedding that was previously planned for your daughter with that fine specimen of a young man, won’t happen.

It really shouldn’t matter what Sarah Palin’s health history is, whether she had 4 children or 5. I am sure Trig is hers since her 17-year-old daughter is about to give birth this month and that fact mathematically eliminates her from being Trig’s mother. Nevertheless, Sarah cannot be elected V.P. Not only is she not qualified, but her screechy voice would give me seizures if I had to listen to her nonsense for 4 years or even 4 hours! Yikes.

Andy Arnold: “why more attention isn’t being placed on why Sarah Palin hasn’t produced her records?”
Because it’s not really relevant. Based on her actual record as mayor and governor, the only people who support her in any way would still support even if her medical records cited that she feasted on the flesh of puppies every morning. Everyone else’s opinion of her, based on her actual leadership record and demonstrated abilities, can’t get lower anyhow. Any records will be ignored by her devoted cult followers and everyone else has enough relevant data to have made a decision.

GEECEE,
Critically think this one out for me on Trig not being S. Palin’s.
Trig is a special child and with today’s modern medicine, most know ahead of time on what condition their child will be in before birth.
1. Palin refused to have “her baby” at the best hospital in Alaska specially equipped to deal with special children>
2. She alledgedly has Trig at the third least hospital in Alaska equipped to deal with special children.
3. Wouldn’t any hospital in the host state be proud to have the Governor give birth in their hospital? No news from any hospital on the birth of the Governor giving birth at their hospital.
4. The killer is….She alledgedly breaks her water in Texas while on a campaign trip, gets on the plane back to AK, endures the 6 hour flight and then has the child. Cmon, you’re not that much of a parrot, are you?
Overall, it doesn’t matter, but just another lie told by McCain and Palin as a team.

Franklin Roosevelt started social security (S/S) with the money to be put into an Independent trust fund with the promise that it would never be taxed.
Then in 1963 President Johnson decided it should go into the “General Fund” where congress could use it.
During Clinton’s presidency they started taxing S/S with Al Gore making the deciding vote in congress.
Then during Carters administration he decided to give immigrants moving to this country S/S payments, when they had never even paid into the system.
All this was done by DEMOCRATIC CONTROLLED administrations and congress.
NOW, if the democrats win the majority in congress and the presidency what do you think they will give away this time, after they take more of your taxes? This is the REDISTRIBUTION of wealth that Obama is talking about. I don’t know about you but, I have worked hard all my life for what I have now, only for it to be given away to others, NO WAY!!! NO OBAMA

Dr. Paul Krugman, top American Economist and recent winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in Economics endorsed Barack Obama. Krugman noted Obama’s quick and keen understanding of the serious and complicated economic problems facing our country. Krugman stated that Obama has shown excellent judgment and will be our country’s best bet to get through these hard times. Krugmann stated that McCain has yet to display any real interest or even basic understanding of the economic dilemma facing our country.

It’s no secret that Alaskan’s have no respect for those of us who live in the ‘lower 48”, but the part that really troubles me is the association and membership that both Sarah and Todd have in the Alaska Independent Party which calls for Alaska to secede from the United States.
AIP founder, Joe Vogler has made the following comments regarding seceding and the United States in general: “The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government,” and “I won’t be buried under their damn flag,”
Sarah and Todd Palin have never repudiated or distanced themselves from those statements.

We lost the chance of a democratic presidency when the idiots put Sen. Hillary Clinton out of the race. Too bad!
Now we are stuck with an inexperienced politician whose past and present close friendships with hateful anti-American people will be a major factor in the voting booth. It saddens me to do it, but I will be voting for the Republican ticket on November 4.
At least, in my own opinion, John McCain is a true American who will never compromise the values and security of our great nation.
We need a president who is and has always been proud of USA and who, under no circumstances, belittles or bad-mouths my country as Obama, his wife, and his pastor do.
We need a president –democrat or republican– who is a tested leader and who instills American greatness and pride in our children. That leader is John McCain.
I will never vote for a shady and an inexperienced politician like Obama just for the sake of party loyalty. Party loyalty went out of the doors when the democratic party leaders kicked out our candidate, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and replaced her with Barack Hussein Obama. It was a stupid thing to do for them but, at least, we have a good alternative in John McCain.

Oh please, give it up. No one cares if she’s on deaths door or not – if anything that would improve many people’s perception of the ticket. The best case is McCain gets elected, has zero health problems, and Palin is a pretty bucket of warm spit for 4 years. Second best is if anything happens to John McCain, Palin has a panic attack and has to step down to recover.
No one really cares about Palin’s medical records, beyond perhaps the treatment of the request being just another example of her devotion to President Bush’s lie-then-conceal fetish for secrecy over the most trivial items.

McCain has again taken a statement completely out of context.
In an academic discussion on a Chicago television station in the late 1990s, Constitutional Law Professor, Barack Obama, was discussing the Supreme Court Decision “Brown v. the Board of Education” that decreed that ALL American children should have the right to a good education. As education is considered “wealth” the landmark decision called for a “redistribution of wealth”.

Salisbury: “We need a president –democrat or republican– who is a tested leader and who instills American greatness and pride in our children. ”
Could you give a couple REAL WORLD, CONCRETE EXAMPLES of McCain’s accomplishments? That would carry far more weight than your bumbersticker endorsement.
For example, for Obama I was very impressed by the video taping of confessions and interrogations law he wrote and, through good political work, eventually won passage into law. It passed with a healthy bipartisan majority and was happily signed by the governor who originally promised to veto it before Senator Obama worked with all sides to assuage concerns. I am impressed by his deep and detailed knowledge of and respect for Constitutional law, even not voting on some bills whose intent he supported based on his view of them having fundamental Constitutional conflicts. I am impressed by his unscripted answers to difficult questions, where he is sometimes willing to answer complex questions with nuanced answers rather than the typical black or white red meat.
Why do you think McCain shows leadership? What examples are there of his leadership leading to concrete results that have improved the lives of the people he works for?

What if McCain spent decades attending a blatantly racist church?

Would McCain get the pass on these that Obama has?

Before John McCain’s tour of duty in Vietnam, he married Carol Shepp, a model from Philadelphia. On his 23rd bombing mission over North Vietnam in 1967, McCain was shot down and captured.
While he was imprisoned, Carol was in an auto wreck (1969), thrown through her car’s windshield and left seriously injured. Despite her injures, she refused to allow her POW husband to be notified about her condition, fearing that such news would not be good for him while he was being held prisoner.
When McCain returned to the United States in 1973 after more than five years as a prisoner of war, he found his wife was a different person. The accident “left her 4 inches shorter and on crutches, and she had gained a good deal of weight.”
Yearning to make the grade of admiral, McCain enrolled in the National War College at Fort McNair in Washington, D.C. and underwent physical therapy in order to fly again. The Navy excused his permanent disabilities and reinstated him to flight status, effectively positioning him for promotion.
In his book, The Nightingale’s Song, Robert Timberg chronicled McCain’s post-Vietnam military assignments and some of his “adulterous” behavior leading to his divorce from Carol and marriage to Cindy Hensley.
Timberg wrote, “in the fall of 1974, McCain was transferred to Jacksonville as the executive officer of Replacement Air Group 174, the long-sought flying billet at last a reality. A few months later, he assumed command of the RAG, which trained pilots and crews for carrier deployments. The assignment was controversial, some calling it favoritism, a sop to the famous son of a famous father and grandfather [both were Navy admirals], since he had not first commanded a squadron, the usual career path.”
While Executive Officer and later as Squadron Commander McCain used his authority to arrange frequent flights that allowed him to carouse with subordinates and “engage in extra-marital affairs.” Such behavior was a violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice rules against adultery and fraternization with subordinates..
Timberg wrote, “Off duty, usually on routine cross-country flights to Yuma and El Centro, John started carousing and running around with women. To make matters worse, some of the women with whom he was linked by rumor were subordinates . . . At the time the rumors were so widespread that, true or not, they became part of McCain’s persona, impossible not to take note of.”
In early 1977, Admiral Jim Holloway, Chief of Naval Operations promoted McCain to captain and transferred him from his command position “to Washington as the number-two man in the Navy’s Senate liaison office. It wasn’t long before the “fun loving and irreverent” McCain had turned the liaison office into a “late-afternoon gathering spot where senators and staffers, usually from the Armed Services and Foreign Relations committees, would drop in for a drink and the chance to unwind.”
In 1979 at a military reception in Honolulu, McCain met Cindy Hensley, an attractive 25-year-old woman from a very wealthy politically-connected Arizona family. Cindy’s father, Jim, founded the Hensley and Company, the nation’s third-largest Anheuser-Busch distributor.
McCain described their first meeting, “She was lovely, intelligent and charming, 17 years my junior but poised and confident. I monopolized her attention the entire time, taking care to prevent anyone else from intruding on our conversation. When it came time to leave the party, I persuaded her to join me for drinks at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. By the evening’s end, I was in love.”
While still married to Carol, McCain began an adulterous relationship with Cindy. He married Cindy in May 1980 — just a month after dumping Carol and securing a divorce. The newlyweds honeymooned in Hawaii.
McCain followed his young, millionairess wife back to Arizona where her father helped catapult McCain into politics,
Today, Cindy Hensley McCain is chairwoman of Hensley’s board of directors. Hensley and Company financial reports show assets worth a minimum of $28 million for the McCains

howwouldIknow: “Would McCain get the pass on these that Obama has?”
Based on the press’s treatment of McCain regarding his military record (being a prisioner is the most favorable highlight), past adultery, Keating five bribery scandal poor judgement, and free pass on his shady use of public financing in the primarys (using it as collateral for a loan, but then opting out when he got money coming in) – Yes.
The entire “liberal media giving Obama a free ride” whining by Republicans is unsubstantiated by facts. Obama does twice as many events as McCain and has a VP that was able to actually campaign unleased and unscripted. Of course he got more coverage, that’s not bias it’s covering reality. And McCains campaign has been a disaster, but reporting that truth, that reality, is biased?

It’s not just Obamas plan to “redistribute the wealth” in a flat out statement that he wants to take from one class and give it to another. He has not had just one general association (like the Keating5 that keeps being brought up). He has Alinsky, Ayers, Rezko, ACORN, Wright… and the dude the LA Times reported about and has the video tape on… Obama may “know thousands of people” as he so tactfully put it… but his background and associations speak a 1000 words in my book.

Let me give you a few reasons why I will never vote for Obama:
A man’s character is very important. Obama –to use his own pastor’s words– is a typical politician who will say anything to be elected or stay popular.
I was at the AIPAC conference in Washington, D.C. just a few months ago and the speech Obama gave there was very unsettling; he was just throwing empty words.
How about Obama’s flip-flop on the public financing issue?
How about the way Obama started his political career in Chicago by playing a dirty game?
How about his relationship with his hateful pastor and with people like ayers and Rezko?
How about Obama’s relationship with ACORN?
How about his inexperience?
How about his worship of money in politics?
Change? What change?!

msa123: “but his background and associations speak a 1000 words in my book.”
Did you learn about McCarthyism from living through it, or just from a book? Either way, you have mastered the slandering and demonizing of law abiding American citizens based on innuendo and slander. Shall we call Obama before a Congressional committee, demand he name 10 other un-American citizens he knows, get him blackballed from work, audit all his tax returns, and then move down the list? Would that thick climate of fear and condemnation of other citizens make you happy?

It’s no secret that Alaskan’s have no respect for those of us who live in the ‘lower 48”, but the part that really troubles me is the association and membership that both Sarah and Todd have in the Alaska Independent Party which calls for Alaska to secede from the United States.
AIP founder, Joe Vogler has made the following comments regarding seceding and the United States in general: “The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government,” and “I won’t be buried under their damn flag,”
Sarah and Todd Palin have never repudiated or distanced themselves from those statements.

John McCain continues to blast Barack Obama for serving on a charitable board funded by the past US delegate to the United Nations under Reagan along with a reknowned professor from the University of Illinois, who at the time Obama was 8 years old, participated in some radical activities.
What McCain fails to mention that as he McCain started to eye a poticial career, he became extremely good friends, vacationed with, accepted huge amounts of contributions and pushed legislation that would directly favor the ambitions of Charles Keating of the extremely serious Savings and Loans crisis of the 1980s. Thousands of Americans, mostly retirees, lost their entire life savings in the scandal. Keating continues to fund McCain to this day. That is probably why over his entire political career, McCain has called for “degulation of Wall Street”. In 2008 alone, McCain proposed and/or voted for “deregulation of Wall Street” bills 21 times.

pt – Palin is already under investigation in Alaska for corruption and will likely be indicted.
It seems that Sarah awarded the contract for the ice rink in Wasilla to a contractor who bid $300,000 more than another contractor. It is no
coincidence that the Palins had a new house constructed just a few blocks away at the same time. The Palins new house just happened to cost around $300,000. The Palins have no mortgage on their new home and have no receipts to prove they paid for the materials.
Hmmmm, not to hard to figure this one out, is it?

Sure maybe Palin and Bush have been not good for McCain but McCain has to blame himself for picking Palin in the first place. McCain has to blame himself for running a campaine all over the place with no consistancy except for smear tactics And not even consistant on which smear to use. Obama said it best. “We dont know anything about McCain because he spends all his time talking about me.” Obama has run a consisitant focused campaine showing great management . He has had a set back or two but got right back on track and stayed focused. McCains campaine has been poorly run, inner fighting among his campaine staff, waiting way to late to start addressing key issues and talking points. Obama spent 30 min on his commercial not once even mentioning McCain but talked about his own plans. Thats the difference between the two and why McCain will probably loose. It also says a lot about how each would run the country and white house.

McCain is trying to make up numbers that Reagan was able to make up and win, but, McCain is not Reagan. I think Obama will win and that is fine with me. McCain has spent the last two months off in silly season and at the last moment he sees he is behind, so he is cramming to get votes he should have had wrapped up by now. 1. Lied about accepting public financing.
2. Raised all types of illegal campaign contibutions.
3. In ACORN up to his neck.
4. Swimming in America hating, anti-sematic, crooked friends and associates.
5. Didn’t release his medical records.
6. Didn’t release any of his college transcripts.
7. Didn’t release his college thesis.
8. His campaign promises completely ignore budget realities. No way he pays for all of his spending proposals without raising everyone’s taxes.
9. Sealed his State Senate records.
10. Spent the last 20 months undermining our president and our country (even in a speech overseas). Everything is Bush’s fault.
11. Questions the core concept of the US constitution that protects citizens from big government. Thinks the constitution should say what the government must do on your behalf.
12. Questions the “fairness” of capitalism. Thinks the wealth should be “spread around”
13. Paints a picture of America as a hopeless, broken country that only he can fix.
14. Equal or less experience than Sarah Palin.
15. His running mate guarantees that our enemies will test his mettle because of his youth, inexperience and perceived weakness.
16. Any dissenting opinion is crushed immediately (Sarah Palin, Joe the Plumber, Foxnews, etc.)

msa123: “he had a land deal with Rezko that has no paper trail… he sat for 20 yrs under a radical racist minister. I didn’t tell him to hang out with these guys. He made his own bed, now he lies in it.”
You are not just stating the facts, your characterization of the Rezko land deal, where Obama purchased a 10′ strip of land from Rezko’s wife for market price, and that Obama purchased his house the same day Rezko purchased the adjacent lot, is documented and public knowledge. Characterizing it as having no paper trail is not true, it’s a lie. Do you understand how you lose credibility when you lie?
I will let slide your characterization of Rev. Wright, an honorably discharged Marine who put his life on the line for the US, as a racist as due simply to a lack of knowledge of the English language.
And your commendation of Obama because he was influenced by the teachings of Alinsky, who coined the term “Think globally, act locally”, speaks more to your lack of critical thinking skills than Obama’s. General Petraus was influenced by Sun Tzu, does that mean he wants to overthrow the US and create an emperor as absolute dictator?
You are trying to condemn Obama for being willing to speak with and learn from (not necessarily agree with) law abiding American citizens. This type of nebulous slander is identical to the Red Scare McCarthyism now considered an embarrassment and a dark time for personal freedoms by most Americans.

The difference between Reagan and McCain is:
- Reagan didnt have a total clueless idiot as VP who was proved to have abused power.
- Who’s strongest argument to have foreign policy experience is to be able to see Russia from her house.
- And thinks the VP is in charge of the senate.
- Couldnt name a paper she reads.
- Couldnt name a single supreme court case other than Roe vs Wade.
- Who believes man and dinosaurs co-existed, earth is 6000 years old, and that global warming hasnt anything to do with man.

“Could you give a couple REAL WORLD, CONCRETE EXAMPLES of McCain’s accomplishments?”
We’ve heard the “maverick” and “honorable” bumperstickers, but can you flesh that out with some actual facts please (as I did in a prior post for Obama)? I have yet to find a McCain supporter who can actually give a few hard fact accomplishments and reasons to vote FOR McCain. (Especially now that McCain himself shilling for $30k+ a person/corporation donations to his RNC Committee to Elect John McCain has made a mockery of his own campaign finance reform bill).
Posted by: jhw539 | October 31, 2008, 11:05 am 11:05 am
jhw: After it had been reported in 2006 that Rezko was under federal investigation for influence-peddling, Obama purchased a 10 foot (3.0 m) wide strip of Ms. Rezko’s property for $104,500, $60,000 above the assessed value. According to Chicago Sun-Times columnist, Mark Brown, “Rezko definitely did Obama a favor by selling him the 10-foot strip of land, making his own parcel less attractive for development.”[36] Obama acknowledges that the exchange may have created the appearance of impropriety, and stated “I consider this a mistake on my part and I regret it.”
Regarding Wright and the others: have you noticed that Obama calls everyone of his associations with terrorists or radicals “honorable” this or that? And I completely don’t believe Wright has a lack of knowledge of the English language. Oh, that one is hysterical LOL
Regarding Alinsky, I think you need to study when he believes the time is right to take over a ‘community’. Our country is primed perfectly. and Obama is taking full advantage. The timing of the economic crisis announcement fell right into his lap. Ironically, 2/3 of Wall Street has given thousands and thousands of dollars to Obama’s campaign. And, he voted to bail out the crooks. I would have more respect for him had he not voted that way. We are screwed either way, don’t you see? And in regards to Petraues, yes perhaps som who knows.
Call it what you want. With your point of view, you deny everything and anything that you hear about someone. That is a very scary thing.

msa123: You said:
“he had a land deal with Rezko that has no paper trail”
This IS A LIE. You made up that it has no paper trail or that it was hidden to slander Senator Obama. Do you understand why you have very little credibility when you are a proven liar?
“After it had been reported in 2006 that Rezko was under federal investigation for influence-peddling, Obama purchased a 10 foot (3.0 m) wide strip of Ms. Rezko’s property for $104,500, $60,000 above the assessed value.”
This is the truth. Do you even understand the difference anymore?
“Regarding Alinsky, I think you need to study when he believes”
Did you not understand my example with General Petraus and Sun Tzu? You can learn a great deal about tactics from someone WITHOUT slavishly adopting their ideals. This is not a complex concept – I learned calculus from a Mormon, yet I did not convert to Mormonism. I do not root for the same baseball team as the mechanic who taught me how to service a brake drum, or the instructor who taught me how to mill splines using a dividing head. You are slandering Obama based on cherrypicking from the vast sea of people he found something to learn from and clearly defining your own limited comprehension in the process.
I assume you are working feverishly on google right now to answer my question:

What has McCain accomplished and how is he different than Bush:
1. McCain is the only major candidate to have served in the military and one of the few candidates in recent history with firsthand experience of the horrors of war.
2. He has 25 years of combined government service in the U.S. House of Representatives (1982-86) and the U.S. Senate (1986-present), and is currently the ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee.
3. McCain championed the Bi-Partisan Campaign Finance Reform Act of 2002, better known as the McCain-Feingold reforms, which attempted to close loopholes in the outdated campaign finance system.
4. Immigration reform is another area in which McCain found himself at odds with the majority sentiment of his party. In 2006, he was a key supporter of a comprehensive immigration plan in the Senate that would have extended guest-worker passes to immigrants and established a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants who have worked in the U.S. for five years. The Senate bill that McCain favored was opposed by a majority of Republicans in the Senate, while the House version, which focused on border security and offered no mechanism for citizenship, received strong support from Republicans in the House. The House and Senate were unable to overcome their differences and comprehensive immigration reform was set aside. McCain went back to his legislative work, minus a few Republican friends.
5. While his strong support for the initial use of force in Afghanistan and Iraq might be expected from a Republican in the post-9/11 world, his actions after the initial stage of the conflict were anything but typical. When many on both sides of the aisle grew wary of the conflict and were looking for ways to distance themselves from “President Bush’s war,” McCain was the first and most vocal supporter of sending additional troops to the region. Even with support for the war sharply declining in the American public, or perhaps because of the sharp decline, McCain saw little choice but to intensify his support.
6. In 2005 he opposed President Bush and fought for a ban on U.S. interrogation methods that he considers torture. He certainly did not launch his anti-torture crusade due to the support of Vice President Cheney, who lobbied against the measure, or due to the support from the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Republican Duncan Hunter, who also opposed the bill, or due to the support of President Bush, who threatened to veto the legislation. Faced with the full wrath of McCain and growing public pressure from within the United States and from U.S. allies abroad, President Bush reluctantly signed the bill. Defiant to the end, Bush issued his now famous signing statement in which he reserved the right to waive the restrictions on torture, should they interfere with his broader constitutional powers.
7. McCain has a consistent pro-life voting record and regularly supports free trade, nuclear power, private Social Security savings accounts, school vouchers, the death penalty and controlling government spending.
8. His position on social issues, in particular his position on gay rights, reveals the difference between McCain and the Christian right. In 2004, he broke with the president and leading Republicans by opposing a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, a position that did not sit well with the party faithful.
I don’t agree with McCain on most of these issues, but it illustrates that he is a moderate and is not Bush. I’d much rather have a moderate in the white house than a far left, liberal idealogue with questionable background, no accomplishments and socialist tendencies.

I live in fear and want more of the same. What a proud nation the Republicans are trying to bring us.
I have looked at Obama’s concrete record, his writings (not a ghost writer like McCain BTW), his legislative achievements, his educational background, and his critical commentary. I have done the same for McCain. McCain came up sorely lacking in actual substance and appears to have coasted on his “war hero” reputation and incumbent’s advantage for a quarter decade without getting much done.
Based on REALITY, not talking points, I have decided Obama is the more qualified to lead. And I live in American, not in Fear.

Marx My Words: “3. McCain championed the Bi-Partisan Campaign Finance Reform Act of 2002, better known as the McCain-Feingold reforms, which attempted to close loopholes in the outdated campaign finance system. ”
McCain himself has gutted both the spirit and reality of his “reform” by explicitly exploiting the RNC loophole (he can raise up to $70k per person, as long as it technically goes to the RNC Committee to Elect John McCain).
Most of your examples reinforce what I found: McCain talks a good talk, but he never produces substantive legislation. Even his opposition to torture has not stopped water boarding or brought Guantanomo into a Constitutional realm (as opposed to the “it’s not on US territory, so it’s the President’s personal dungeon” technicality).
I want someone proven to actually IMPLEMENT good law and reform. Obama has met that test for me. See prior posts for a cite, or better yet research both Obama and McCain with an eye for actual law PASSED and implemented. Anyone can talk a good talk and get nothing done.

I see another attempt to push women out and stiffle us. I will not tolerate it. Vote McCain!
Posted by: Amanda | Oct 31, 2008 8:54:27 AM
That was my feeling too until I saw what the REAL John McCain feels about women. To try and punish the Democrats by voting for McCain as revenge for Hillary is beyond stupid but no one said you have to pass a test to vote. Since you are obviousy smart enough to get onto the computer, go to this website before you go all “feminist” with John McCain. Hopefully, it will open your eyes.

msa123: “you are a hopeless case. When you believe as you do about another human being, even when the facts are there, … I have told you that I am not a McCain fan, and I am not going to argue that point because it is not my point. You know that he has many accomplishments in his life and service to the country and I am not going to waste my time reciting them.”
Despite your deep knowledge I HAVE NOT YET HAD A MCCAIN SUPPORTER ANSWER:
“Could you give a couple REAL WORLD, CONCRETE EXAMPLES of McCain’s accomplishments?”
Why is this so hard? I can do it for Obama off the top of my head. You see, I support Obama not based on his rhetoric (I find his speaking style dull and ponderous actually), but based on research of his actual record and accomplishments compared to research of McCain’s actual record and accomplishments. By refusing to offer any facts to support your positions, or actually answer any of my counterpoints, you have proven yourself to not be living in reality.
Voting for President should be based on facts and record, not blind faith and “common knowledge” that has no basis.

How come Obama has yet to turn over HIS medical records? I don’t mean the “memo” he sent out about the records last spring.
He has been on the ticket how much longer than Palin now? And still no medical records? Still no birth certificate?
Still no cry from the press or civil libertarians who should be concerned?

Handbook for BO supporters:
-Insult Sarah Palin, and say “she is not qualified to be a heartbeat away from the presidency”
-When presented with facts, lie or change the subject. I.e. If someone says, “the dems caused the real estate meltdown by killing legislation in the senate to regulate fannie and freddie” the correct response is “keating 5″. even though McCain was fully exonerated in that investigation but who cares about facts.
-Say “hope” and “change”
-Invoke the “middle class” or say “95% of Americans will get a tax cut” – 95% of Americans don’t pay taxes, but again who cares about facts, it sounds good.
-Say “John McCain is erratic”
-Say “failed Bush policies” or “the last eight years”
With respect to the “failed Bush economic policy” – sorry to break it to you all but we are in the mess that we are in largely because the dems resisted all attempts to reign in fannie and freddie. Sure Bush deserves some of the blame, it happened on his watch but his administration actually saw the danger in these dem piggy banks and tried many times to regulate them.
Saying that this economic crisis is due to “failed Bush economic policies” shows a disturbing lack of knowledge of market forces and economics. It also leaves out that small fact the fannie and freddie were the catalyst behind this whole mess.

MCCAIN WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS AS PRESIDENT? What are your plans on all the Issuses that I mentioned above and Yes I agree with the post on board WHERE ARE SARA PALINS MEDICAL RECORDS?

The bottom line is: According to the Washington Times: “Single-party rule is inherently totalitarian whether the people consent to it or not. In most cases, one-party states rise out of authoritarian regimes, including former monarchies, or socialist revolutions. There are currently seven – China, Cuba, Eritrea, Laos, Vietnam, Syria, Korea. The United States would become the eighth.”

THIS WILL CHANGE YOUR RETIREMENT
To those who have more money than you will ever need, save your time and don’t read this.
For the rest of us who are still working with mortgages, children and grandchildren or retired living on a pension and or Social Security perhaps you will take a couple of minutes to read the proposed changes in the American tax system.
Sharing this email with others can make a difference on November 4, 2008; for our citizens and our country.
INTERESTING DATA JUST RECEIVED ON TAXES
This is something you should be aware of so you don’t get blind-sided.
This is really going to catch a lot of families off guard. It should make you worry.
Proposed changes in taxes after 2008 General election:
CAPITAL GAINS TAX
MCCAIN
0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples) McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.
OBAMA
28% on profit from ALL home sales
How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.
DIVIDEND TAX
MCCAIN 15% (no change)
OBAMA 39.6%
How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama become president. The experts predict that higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.
INCOME TAX (OBAMA CLAIMS NO INCREASE IN TAXES….. AFTER BUSH CUTS ARE
ELIMINATED!)
MCCAIN (no changes)
Single making 30K – tax $4,500
Single making 50K – tax $12,500
Single making 75K – tax $18,750
Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K – tax $18,750
Married making 125K – tax $31,250
OBAMA
(Reversion to pre-Bush tax cuts)
Single making 30K – tax $8,400
Single making 50K – tax $14,000
Single making 75K – tax $23,250
Married making 60K – tax $16,800
Married making 75K – tax $21,000
Married making 125K – tax $38,750
Under Obama your taxes will more than double! How does this affect you?
No explanation needed. This is pretty straightforward.
INHERITANCE TAX
MCCAIN 0% (No change, Bush repealed this tax)
OBAMA Restore the inheritance tax
How does this affect you? Many families have lost businesses, farms and ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will not only lose them to these taxes.
NEW TAXES BEING PROPOSED BY OBAMA
* New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet
* New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren’t high enough already)
* New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water,
electricity)
* New taxes on retirement accounts and last but not least….
* New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!
Thank You

Dem in DC that’s BO supporter handbook #2 “Change the Subject or Lie”. But for fun:
The Ethics Committee ruled that the involvement of McCain in the scheme was also minimal, and he too was cleared of all charges against him. McCain was criticized by the Committee for exercising “poor judgment” when he met with the federal regulators on Keating’s behalf. The report also said that McCain’s “actions were not improper nor attended with gross negligence and did not reach the level of requiring institutional action against him….Senator McCain has violated no law of the United States or specific Rule of the United States Senate.

Senator Government,
Please add this one to your list in the B.O. handbook:
“Always add some ugly personal insult to a McCain/Palin supporter instead of using facts to persuade. Use terms like “white supremicist”, “cross-burner”, etc.
Use of personal insult will deflect the need to produce any actual evidence of B.O.’s experience or qualifications.”

I have always been a staunch republican and voted for Bush twice. This year there is no question that I am voting Obama and not because I don’t like McCain but because I think we need someone who can inspire us all to regain the true potential our country has. I will be hit with a tax increase with Obama’s plan but we all do need to contribute in our own ways to reinvest our sweat and/or money to hand an even stronger country to the next generation. I don’t consider this redistribution but a way for me to give back what only this country can give – freedom, opportunity and great people.
How anyone in middleclass can vote for a divisive ticket of McCain/palin at a time we need to be united is beyond me.

It will be even, 169 vs 169. McCain do not have to win PA but must win NH.

I have to laugh when I hear McCain talk about Joe the Plumber. McCain says that Joe is the meaning of small business. That’s a lie because Joe is not even a plumber and never had apprentice training. In fact Joe is just a scab who will probably pay his employees five dollars an hour with no benefits. Joe to me is scum and a scab and a liar. I live in Illinois and we have training and trade schools. I am a member of the Painters and Allied trades DC#30 local #607. I am a proud American worker and a middle class worker. McCain has tried to rid the country of union’s and the prevailing wage. He has voted against the Davis-Bacon Act 15 times and just as recently as November 2004. That’s an Act that provides prevailing wage to workers in Federally Funded projects, like Katrina. To have Joe the Loser try to act like a savior for the middle class is a slap in the face to all American workers, and now Joe has a book deal! What’s up with that!! McCain is against the Employee Free Choice Act that allows workers to organize and create unions in the workplace if they need it and want it, with no penalty of losing their job. Thats a little straight talk for all of you. Thank God the McCain is not going to win and all of those people who make under $250,00 should vote for Obama. McCain says at his rally’s that Obama is going to raise all of your taxes, I make $38.00 an hr in my trade and I don’t know of any-one else that makes that kind of money except Dr.s and lawyers. I’m not afraid of Obama’s tax plan, but I am scared as hell of McCain’s. So all of you McCain supporters their it is in Black and White give Obama a chance and vote for a real leader. IPUAT for Obama/Biden ’08

Perhaps you can answer my plea for facts:

I have done so for Obama already – law that is actually on the books and helping people today (both innocent people being grilled by police and prosecutors with iron clad video of guilty people being tripped up under grilling by police). Why can’t McCain supports give us any FACTUAL achievement supporting their myth of McCain’s “experience”?

Amanda -
I’m tired of the gender card being played on Sarah Palin’s behalf. Her gender is the least of her problems. Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin have about as much in common as Eleanor Roosevelt and Britney Spears.
If you cared about Hillary, you cared about the issues she’s cared about for over thirty years. McCain/Palin are almost polar opposites to Hillary on those issues.
Posted by: Brooklyn Democrat | October 31, 2008, 12:44 pm 12:44 pm
The only way McCain/Palin can win is to steal the election – it is not beyond the republicans to steal elections (2000) – This time they play a very dangerous game because I believe fraud and suppression on their part will cause an outcry of the American people that this country has not witnessed since it’s independence. . I am very worried about what the republicans will do this time. McCain/Palin have no honor and are untrustworthy – they continue to lower the bar in political campaign ethics – there is nothing they won’t do to win – including trying to steal the election.

Amanda – Do you think for yourself? You write that your husband is voting for McCain and you are, too. You don’t sound very independent. Even worse, you give the bratty, childish reason that you’re voting for McCain because a vast conspiracy deprived Hillary Clinton of the nomination. I don’t think you gave any thought to your support of Clinton (other than gender) and clearly you’re not giving any thought to your support of McCain, either. I guess McCain has got the ‘blank slate’ vote pretty well locked up.
Posted by: bob | October 31, 2008, 12:53 pm 12:53 pm
Big duh. George, you have pointed out over and over again that McCain *must* win all the toss-up (swing) states as well as getting PA to reach 270. Yet that is his only game plan, while Obama have more routes available to him to get to 270 and beyond.
So let us go to the ABC electoral map. If say all the blue states remain blue and all the red remain red, if McCain do convert PA to red and win Ohio, Obama could still win by gaining Virgina, North Carolina, Florida, etc. With more chances for him to win any of the swing states, Obama can get to 270 without Ohio or PA.
So come on, George, why bother to keep running the same articles that McCain must win a particular state? Just admit that he must win *all* the battleground states to even get to 270.

That’s not an insult; it’s an observation, an opinion, a personal belief (whether factual or not). Of course, if you don’t like someone’s opinion, you call it an insult – that way, you don’t have to deal with the opinion or waste any brain power attempting to counter it. We Germans admire Americans for the great country they have, mixed with all races on the face of the earth.
I think america has a great opportunity to make history by voting OBAMA who means “so many good things in one” to America & the rest of the world. Many of us in Germany are rooting for him.
If America votes McCain, then they would be living with the result that will follow: more economic melt down & misrule for the next four years.
The question to ask is; as the world looks up to america to make the right choice, are Amercans ready to choose right?
Europe & the rest of the world awaits your choice.

For the record Bush had NOTHING to do with the economic meltdown. That would be the democrats who are always looking to play robin hood by giving people something for nothing. Carter and Clinton wiped out the security measure loans so “poor” people could get a loan and it was the democrats who are so nuts about an Alaskan wildlife refuge that they would rather send $700,000,000,000.00 a year to countries who hate America then drill right here to keep that $$ in our economy and create jobs. CHANGE! HOPE! YES WE CAN! OBAMA IS A SOCIALIST- OF COURSE EUROPE LOVES HIM!

Question for BO supporters. BO’s closing argument includes the statement “we are one week away from changing America”.
This statement scares me. I can understand if he said change Washington DC or change Government, but “change America”?
Can someone please help me understand what it is about America he will change? I think the principles that America was built on (liberty, personal property, personal responsibility, free market capitalism) are what makes America the greatest country in the world.
My interpretation is that (1) he doesn’t believe the capitalist system is “fair” and he is going to “change America” by moving towards the socialism-lite we see in Western Europe (i.e. class warfare and “spread the wealth around”) and (2) he doesn’t believe in the US constitution – i.e. as per his 2001 comments, he thinks the fundamental flaw of this country is that the constitution is a document of negative liberties and fails to explain what the government “must do on your behalf”.
Scary stuff. Am I misunderstanding something?

I have been conducting a non-scientific and admittedly personal poll over the past several weeks here in my south-central PA community. Despite the fact that many pundits describe this area as the “Alabama in between” Philadelphia and Pittsburgh and that I see numerous bumper stickers which state that my county is “Republican Country!”, the number of McCain/Palin and Obama/Biden signs in my area is roughly equal. This could bode very well for Obama as he will no doubt carry Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. And if the “Alabama in between” is roughly equally divided, his margin of victory could be significant. As an aside–I don’t believe that any candidate should be compelled to produce their private medical records. According to law, they are protected and releasable only to designated individuals. However, the issue has become an issue solely due to Ms Palin’s thoughtless agreement to produce them. Now the McCain/Palin campaign is in a quandry of their own making.

So is Virginia. So is Ohio. McCain needs to pray that the millions laid off forget his part in making that happen. He has to pray that retirees who have lost Two Trillion in value in retirement funds and others who have lost homes, pensions, health care, the ability to send their children to higher education, that all those people forget McCain’s part in all this. He has to pray that we forget that rich CEO’s got hundreds of millions for leading their companies into bankruptcy and bail out. He has to pray that we forget that his adviser Fiorina (who says we should let auto companies go bankrupt) got a 40 million dollar parachute mostly for laying off thousands of people. He has to pray we don’t notice that his campaign is made up of former Lobbyists and CEOs for the very companies which stabbed us in the back. He has to pray that we forget that Bush-Cheney, McCain-Gramm plumped for a philosophy which let the rich get super rich while the Middle Class lost jobs. We need someone who cares for the Middle Class, and that someone is Barack Obama.

Why would I want to vote for a man that will be the head of our military yet has never served and does not truly understand what it would mean to send our men into war? Why would I vote for a man that stood under a pastors teaching of hate for years, and as soon as it started to hurt his campaign he denounced him? Why would I vote for a person that has in anyway been linked to terrorist of any kind? Why would I vote for a man that said he would run his campaign financing one way then went the other way? Why would I vote for a man that lied on to our nation during the debates? Why would I vote for a man that wants to take control away from business owners and the businesses they own? Why would I vote for a man that wants to tax me even more than I am already taxed! Why would I vote for a person that is in anyway linked to voter fraud? Why would I vote for a man that has very very little foreign policy experience? Why would I vote for you, a man that picked a running mate that does not even think you are qualified?
Nothing you “say” can ever make these things go away in my mind, you can’t do one thing, then say it never happened. You are not the man to lead this country and you are not what you say you are, and it scares the crap out of me that the people of this great nation have let you get as far as you have gotten.
Sincerely,
A concerned citizen of the United States of America.

George is correct.
That’s what makes Palin campaigning in Pennsylvania so strange. Palin is not well liked by the over 50 crowd. Pennsylvania is an aging population that feels Palin is not ready.
In fact, today Palin claimed that the media writing anything negative against her is taking away her freedom of speech. Palin thinks the media should only write what she wants them to write.
Maybe Governor Palin should stop in Philadelphia to learn that the First Amendment guarantees the freedom of the press. Governor Palin, trying to control the press is a crime against the United States Constitution.

I played around with the electoral college maps, and tried every which way to Sunday to make the numbers work for McCain. I even cheated for him and gave him some states that he probably won’t win. With only Virginia and North Carolina remaining in my model, Obama is at 268 and McCain is still at 242. Reminds me of that song, “Can’t get ahead no way I try!”

who cares about palins medical records? shes a joke and as I have always said if anyone of us ran a business like the GOP ran this campaign we’d be fired. Its like going 0-16 in football. also..when Gore couldn’t carry tennessee you knew he was toast. when McCain is fighting in Indiana, NC and is only up 4 in his homestate AND spending all his time in PA which he won’t win whos in charge…as for Palin…don’t you think Obama will send her a amazing christmas gift thanking her for her contributions to his campaign….it’ll be the gift of gifts…

I wonder what would happen if someone asked Palin a phonie question. Would she know enough to ask “is this a joke?” Or would she start talking in circles trying to “confuse” the questioner?

you scare me Concerned Citizen..you scare me because you drank the Kool Aid the McCain/Tina Fey ticket presented. You’ re the guy who takes the first offer a car dealer presents. Concerned Citizen? When a candidate’s shining moments are JOE THE PLUMBER(whos not a licensed plumber) and TINA FEY…need i say more……I am concerned that McCain/Palin is the best the GOP has to offer? we may be looking at 16 years of democrats in the WH….does that concern you?

You are wetting yourselves because you hate America and think that now finally Karl Marx has been reincarnated in a more charismatic form of B.huessein obama.

Philadelphia, and to a lesser extent Pittsburgh, will keep PA blue
…and it didn’t help that Palin said she was proud to be in the Phillies home state to the crowd in Erie – she (and her staffers) obviously did not understand or take the time to learn that the rest of the state HATES us

Chris,
don’t kid yourself, you are not a republican. how can you say you love this country and then elect a man who sat in black liberation theology church for 20 years where the most racist,anti-semetic, anti-American rhetoric was spewed! Obama brought his children to listen to this nut-job!!
Or how about Bill Ayers? Bill Ayers HATES everything about America even to this day. What does he see in Obama that he likes so much. Hmmm, I know, Obama is a marxist who obviously is completely comfortable listening to people tear down the USA.
Also, obama just came out today and said those that don’t want to pay higher taxes are selfish. does that include biden i wonder? the man who made $2.49 million dollars in the last 10 years and given $3,000 to charity?? That’s less then .5%
Or what about Obama if we need everthing to be “fair” why doesn’t he give 1/2 his $$ to the McCain camp?

I don’t care about anything you say EXCEPT my taxes are out of control, my retirement is down 6 digits and WASH DC is bailing out the clowns on Wall street when they should have started by helping the great people in Detroit who really need it..and our country needs it also…..I would vote for a coyote right now instead of McCain..how much higher can my taxes go..my income is down 50%…you have to see my viewpoint a little

how can dave vote for a woman who sat in the pews at her church listening to her pastor spew his anti-jew speech? Yep.. it’s on you tube. How can anyone vote for a woman who supports seceding from the union so alaska can become its own country?
It’s one thing to be critical of one’s country but quite another to want to leave her altogether. how unpatriotic.

Dave claims to hate socialism but he and his children attended public schools. His parents get social security checks and use medicare.
But you don’t hear him complaining about THOSE socialist programs.
Seniors should be more scared of those pure capitalists who want to take away programs that help them live when they are too old to work.

what did you think was going to happen when the democrats, started with jimmy carter and the community reinvestment act, continued by the clinton administration, wanted to make everything “fair” with housing. They took away down payment requirements, proof of savings account, credit history, stable job, etc.. and what happened you and I suffered!! Who would have thought giving people homes who could never pay them back would be a good idea?? i’ll tell you- barney frank, chris dodd, chuck shumer…
Or what about the left’s obsession with drilling in America?? We send $700,000,000,000.00 a year to countries that hate us never to see it again. Just think if that $$$ stayed in our economy what it could do, not to mention the jobs it would create……
Bottom line, George Bush had nothing to do with this economic collapse, if you disagree with the war that’s a seperate issue, but if you want more of the same vote for Obama!!!

well, republicans were so h*ll bent on getting obama to produce so many documents when palin hasn’t produced a single medical record. i think it’s important as she uses a tanning bed all the time and even had one installed in the governor’s mansion. we all know that tanning leads to skin cancer like melanoma. McCain knows all about that one.
the hypocrisy is amazing.

actually i went to private school and my parents own a business that i now work in. they give, and always have, 12% of their income every year to their church. We are just always amazed to hear people like biden say it’s patriotic to pay higher taxes but the man made $2.49 million dollars in the last 10 years and given $3,000 to charity?? That’s less then .5%–
liberals are always generous with other people’s $$$. I would put Christian conservative charitable contributions next to left wing liberals any day of the week……

And John McCain does not want to take away social security for the elderly- that is a blatant lie by the obama campaign. I would never vote for that, or for taking away a welfare safety net for those who NEED it. It’s just that the poor people i see everyday at the food kitchen down the street are all fat, smoking cigarettes and seem pretty able-bodied. In most countries a fat poor person is an oxy-moron, but not in America, the land of capitalism. Only here can my lazy cousin 20yr old cousin be on her third child that she has never EARNED a dollar to support, never worked a day in her life, play the lottery with her welfare checks, smoke cigarettes, have a cell phone…guess who she’d vote for if she wasn’t so freakin lazy…

It’s gonna be McCain on election day. Here’s why. People will wake up Tuesday and realize Obama hasn’t accomplished ANYTHING in his career except trying to find ways to the Presidency. He has no foreign policy experience and his ideas are bad. He has the worst economic policy since Hoover. He has associations with horrible men and he refuses to admit or apologize for them. Americans aren’t as dumb as Obama hopes they are.

This is the lead story in the “Investor’s Business Daily” and documents why the mortgage crises happened. It’s a bit of a “read” with a somewhat yearly blow-by-blow starting in the 1930′s creation of Fannie Mae.
Particularly concerning is the 1990′s depiction of Community Activist Obama & his ties to ACORN, and how that whole mess influenced our current (and future), problems. Pay particular attention to the time frame of 2006 when Republicans & John McCain tried to bring about needed change but were thwarted by a democratically controlled congress. I know some put Obama’s style above McCain’s substance; and that’s OK if you can live with yourself! But the article is interesting in it’s historic view of the mortgage process and social activism.
I believe every American should read it as it pertains to both our current candidates, and how they may act as a future president! I realize President Obama doesn’t have the experience to have had an earlier hand in fixing the mess, but “activist” Obama had a hand in creating it.
I have grandchildren that will be affected by the actions we take in coming elections and their abilities to obtain housing in the future may be in jeopardy by what we do now! Judge for yourself!

john mccain, sarah palin and dave are all running around trying to scare people with the word “socialism” when most people like socialist programs like public school, social security and medicare.
if john mccain hates socialism so much, then he must be lying about social security and will try to end it when he is in office.

socialism and capitalism has failed everywhere it has tried. America is a captitalist nation, with a few socialist aspects as you have so incredibly pointed out. However, after B Hussein that could very well change. He is a socialist and yes that scares me. We are the land of fat poor people and that is from capitalism. 10 years from now after a BO presidency our country could very well resembel cuba or venezuala. Yeehaaa!!! CHANGE! CHANGE! CHANGE!

pure socialism doesn’t work. it produces truly horrendous conditions for the poor. Not like in America where our “poor” people live like upper-class citizens by the world’s standard of living. America’s poor mostly have cars, pot-bellies, cigarettes, refridgerators, microwaves,tv, computers ect. The ones who don’t typically have a mental disability, are drug addicts or are LAZY. America is a capitalist nation which is why BO has spent his whole life around people who despise this great country.

How can voters in PA who claim to have such God fearing family values vote for McCain?
McCain married Carol. He broke his marital promises to Carol. He broke his marital oaths to his God. He left Carol, who was physically disabled and broken, and his young family. They didn’t have much money. He married Cindy, a rich heiress. He’s used her family connections and money to build a political career. He may be an ex-prisoner of war who we owe reward to, like a pension and a lifetime of health care. No more or less than any other war vet. But ‘his’ honor’ does not extend beyond that unfortunate experience. Aside from that – he has no honor. Show me his honor before and after his military career. I see only lies and deception.

Today I met a group of republicans for Obama. I knew that a growing number of prominent republicans is supporting Obama but I today was my first opportunity to actually talk to a group of 17 everyday middle class folks with a life long GOP tradition voting Democratic for the 1st time in years, and some have never even voted Democratic. If the campaign was to keep going for another month, McCain would lose in AZ, GA, MT, SD, ND, and WV. That’s the trend. 4 days from now I’m projecting an Obama landslide. Obama/Biden is about optimism, intellect, leadership and courage in a time when America needs these qualities. The GOP and their divisive politics are useless in a time like this.

…But then again polls could be wrong, so everybody if you haven’t voted yet, if you don’t have early voting in your state, and even if you’ve voted already, let’s make sure we keep talking to people, debunk the lies, fight the smears, make sure people we know show up and vote. The GOP will try who knows what this last 4 days. We know there’s not limit to how low they can get to stay in power, so let’s keep up the good work. We have to do it to move our country forward.

miguel- what smears?
It is true that Obama associates with Domestic Terrorists (ayers), foriegn terrorists (Khalidi), and radical racists (wright and his wife).
It is also true that he is going to raise taxes on everyone when the Bush tax cuts expire.
It is also true that he is going to gut our military – minimum 25% cut.
It is also true that he is going to nationalize healthcare ala Cuba.
It is also true he was a coke head in college and hung around marxists.
We don’t need “smears” for Obama. The real thing is scary enough. John McCain may not be the best person in the US for the job but compared to Obama he’s #1.

I voted early for Barack Obama after voting for Hillary in the primaries. It is true that Florida and Michigan should not have been disenfranchised. However just the Hillary cause is on this, she still would not quite have won the popular vote if these states were included. She was indeed a close second and had every right to stay in the primaries to the end. Puerto Rico would have put her over the top in the popular vote, but the turnout was very poor there. Next time, we should do away with caucuses and only have primaries, since primaries include far more voters, but it is impractical to change the rules midstream. Think about the right wing justices that McCain will appoint to the Supreme Court, creating a right wing super majority for years to come- this is far worse than what happened in the primaries. We should vote Obama, for the Supreme Court as well as assuring people don’t lose their health insurance from their jobs. The primaries can be run better in just four years- it would take decades to undo a right wing super majority on the Supreme Court.

Know your friends but know your enemies better, makes you a well rounded knowlegeable individual to sustain in this ever changing world.Thats O Bama’s excuse for not being an ignorant, opinionated, self centered individual, walking talking communicating with the best and the worst elements of our social setup has transformed this one black kid, to defy the odds and seek for the highest office in the land by an unprecedented support, speaks in itself volumes about this 47 year old Charismatic leader.Whom you brand, being a socialist, a terrorist a communist.Do we still have a Choice to make? You folks to the right, your support of Mccain proves that you are self centered, ignorant and just fools, who have no respect for your fellow human beings. I would like to hear, just one good deed, that benefited
the society as a whole, instead of special interest groups, done by this man, in 72 years of his life accept being an adulterer, a war monger, a tax cheat and a proud member of the Keating five, accuired his millions thru
handowns, marriage and god knows what not, but surely not from intellegince or hardwork. His final Deed, that is an insult to human intellegence naming Palin for VP.You people out their to the right, do you still have a choice? and if you do.Shame on You, I really thought you would have wised up a bit from the Bush debacle. The spoilt kid from Texas, who ended up hurting the whole world.

If Hillary had been the Democratic nominee, I would have had a choice to make this year. Now, its clear McCain is the only way to go.

Rasmussen poll: Within a week, the Obama lead in Pennsylvania has slipped from 13 points to 4 points. Four days to go. Not so undoable, is it?

The best thing about Obama winning, is the voters who have been buying into the Republican smears will realize within just a couple of months what a bunch of lying crooks the Republican politicians have been about Obama. They’ll realize they have nothing to fear, and see a righteous, mature, intelligent, and rational President. The first we’ve had in ages!

Imagine Sarah Palin as President when the 4 times cancer survivor McCain keels over. Now that is scary!
Hell, imagine if he doesn’t die. Imagine that senile old fool running the most powerful nation on earth for 4 years!

Don’t buy the double-digits Obama leads in PA in most polls.
He’ll still win PA, but only by 3-5 points.
If you’re an Obama supporter in PA, GET OUT AND VOTE!

McCain said that Joe the Plumber is an American hero and his roll model. From that statement I assume that anyone that does not pay their bills and is being sued for back taxes and practices a profession without a license is a hero, “WOW”. What about us that pay our bills and pay our taxes, I guess we are just a bunch of jerks. John really needs to find himself a better class of losers than Joe the plumber and Sarah Palin.

Amanda,
That is known as cutting off your nose to spite your face. Go ahead and vote for a loser. We who are voting for the Obama-Biden ticket will be celebrating early on November 4.

Lanny,
Well said! Sadly, Samuel “Joe” Wurzelbacher is a lucky jerk, who has become a celebrity. Sadly, the two things the McBush campaign has accomplished is making celebities of two unworthy people: Palin and Wurzelbacher.

An Obama win has a belatedly positive side for Republicans too. With it comes a likely overwhelmingly Democrat congress willing and able to move from merely liberal to nut-job wacko leftist. That provides 2010 with great promise. Two years of a goofball socialist congress will make replacing them with Republicans enormously easier.
I can hear Barry saying now “Thank you Nancy and Harry for the tax hikes, may I have some more?” Nancy will say ‘Yes dear. How much would you like?” Harry will say “That isn’t nearly enough. We have all those evil selfish self starters and producers making waaaaay too much money. We have to put a stop to it.” And Barry will say “It just isn’t fair all those evil wealth creators are leaving our poor constituents behind. Never mind we taxed thier employers out of business. The government knows best and I am the government – oops sorry Nancy and Harry – WE are the government.”

Middle school teacher suspended for Obama comment
The Associated Press
7:10 PM EDT, October 2, 2008
MARIANNA – A Florida middle school teacher has been suspended after students said he used a racial epithet directed at presidential candidate Barack Obama.
Seventh-grade social studies teacher Greg Howard reportedly wrote the word CHANGE as an acronym on the board and wrote an expletive with the letter ‘N.’
The phrase he wrote has alternately be reported as “Can You Help A (expletive) Get Elected” and “Come Help A (expletive) Get Elected.”
The incident happened last Friday at Marianna Middle School.
The Jackson County School Board said Thursday that Howard has been suspended without pay for 10 days and will be transferred to the Jackson County Adult Education program. He is also required to submit a letter of apology to his students and attend diversity and sensitivity training.
Marianna is near Florida’s border both with Alabama and Georgia.
A message left for a Greg Howard in Marianna, Fla., was not immediately returned.

The only way Hillary has any chance of running in 2012 is if McCain wins. Plus, I don’t think McCain will be all that bad for one term.
I’m hoping for Hillary/Jim Webb’12!, so let’s hope Pennsylvania does go for McCain.

@ Robert Jenkins
It is hard to know where to start, since NONE of this is true. To compare tax plans, go to any of many many independent websites such as the Tax Policy Center. For a few specifics: 1) Obama does NOT propose changing the exemption on capital gains for personal residences. 2) Obama would increase the capital gains tax from 15% to 20% (not to 39.6% as you say) only for individuals making over $200,000/year. 3) Obama does not propose increasing income taxes on any individuals making under $200,000/year or couples making under $250,00/year. 4) The comparison of tax rates is simply made up: it does not reflect what Obama proposes and does not reflect what the Bush tax cuts did. In fact, the Bush tax cuts saved typical taxpayers less than $1,000/year but saved highest-income taxpayers millions of dollars/year. 5) Bush did NOT repeal the estate tax: it is still in effect, and will disappear for ONLY ONE YEAR — 2010 — before reverting to what it was in the year 2000. Obama proposes that estates under $3.5 Million pay NO tax. McCain proposes that estates under $4 Million pay NO tax. The number of estates that would pay ANY tax under either proposal is tiny — a few thousand. How many of us are worried that our estates will be over $3.5 Million?

McCain is DESPERATE. I live in Pittsburgh and the robocalls just keep coming. I received 2 on Friday and Saturday. They are VERY negative and very intimidating for the uninitiated. The caller was yelling and spewing out negatives about Obama. McCain, this is not how to win an election. You can only fool the Alabama of PA. Talk about the ECONOMY because I am suffering. I just got my pay on Thursday and all is gone!! How can I live till the next pay check?
Here are some of the reasons why I will NOT vote for McCain:
His economic policies stink, he is very old and had cancer more than twice and yet his running mate knows next to nothing about anything and above that has REFUSED to release her medical records which I think is scary considering the condition of her latest child (Twig or Branch?), he can’t redeem the poor image of US abroad (thanks to Bush/Cheney who endorsed him) which helps tremendously in the area of foreign policy. McCain for President? No Sir, No Madam!!! Not this time. We have taken our country back!!!

George S. has rocks in his head if he thinks Donna Brazile brings any legitimacy to his show. She is a liar, liar, liar and how she has such power in the democratic party is a mystery. Obama did not win the nomination but was selected ask any of the 18 million voters that they threw under the bus. She says she does not need lifelong democrats in her party thinking she has enough blacks and young people. Well, I have news for her. We loyal party supporters have left the fold and will not return until she, Pelosi, Dean and others realize that they are not the democratic party. And when they pull the same crap on the Obama supporters who next time may have their candidate turned on like they did to Hillary supporters they will realize that the democrats do not believe in democracy. George is a hack.

Swifty Pa—-FL/MI did not do it to themselves. Your savior campaigned here and Hillary did not. He was against those votes because he lost but accepted them during the convention because he wanted a better showing. If you are stupid enough to vote for a candidate who was selected not elected that is your problem. But watch the next time when party leaders turn on your candidate and see how you like the undemocratic democratic party. No media wants to acknowledge the many democrats who have left this sleazy party. But I can assure you that they are large in number.

Obama needs to go back to Pennsylvania, but I did hear the Obama campaign has a good ground game. 57,000 thousand volunteers and 81 campaign offices. And McCain less than half.

The Govenor of Hawaii has sealed Obama’s birth records. Do you think I am stupid enough to believe Obama’s web site. I am sure it would contain some negative about him. Joke. Pointing anyone to his web site to learn the truth shows the level of intelligence of persons voting for Obama. If you overlook Wright, Resko, and other things you can see and hear first hand, then you have no mind of your own. Follow the pied piper at your own peril.

Obama, says his plan will bankrupt coal plants across the country (This means YOUR PA). What is this man thinking? Honestly, his plan will put thousands of people across coal producing states out of a job in the name of Al Gore’s “global warming” hoax. This insanity has to be stopped!

I live in Pa.And I can tell you that McCain will not win Pa. He will not. Phila,Pitt, And my city of Harrisburg are going to pull Obama into the winners circle. So McCain can get real and come back down to earth, then take off his rose colored glasses. And when he does he will realize that he will be packing to go home. That’s it, end of story. I was born in Pa. and of course i still live here. I can tell you the pulse of my state and the pulse beats to Obama… greg

Palin’s staff is creating doctor appointment dates that didn’t exist, making double and triple sure that she wasn’t at work during the times they are choosing. Wouldn’t want an appointment to be at the same time she was attending a meeting on official Alaskan business.
